- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio here.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's almost famous podcast.
- 0:06Speaker 3: We absolutely are loving this season of life in podcasting
- 0:11Speaker 3: and in Bachelor Nation. We're having a blast with this.
- 0:13Speaker 3: In fact, it's probably as much fun as I've had
- 0:16Speaker 3: doing this podcast since maybe the first or second year.
- 0:19Speaker 3: So today we're breaking down well, Bachelor in Paradise, which
- 0:24Speaker 3: Ashley and I both agree was a tremendous episode.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Fantastic episode.
- 0:30Speaker 5: But you know why because people we care about a
- 0:34Speaker 5: lot were very heavily present in this episode. There were
- 0:39Speaker 5: there were the leads, to be honest, you know, we
- 0:41Speaker 5: had a lot of Rachel time. I like Rachel more
- 0:45Speaker 5: and more every time.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I s great, Absolutely fantastic.
- 0:49Speaker 5: Yeah, and then we also got a lot of Katie
- 0:52Speaker 5: Thurston and Blake, two people that we also have spent
- 0:56Speaker 5: hours and hours watching. So I thought that those were
- 0:59Speaker 5: two really compelled storylines in this episode. There was a
- 1:03Speaker 5: little bit of a little boring side. The most boring
- 1:07Speaker 5: part for me was watching the double date between Sam
- 1:12Speaker 5: and Peter because Sam and Peter were not really invested
- 1:15Speaker 5: in and.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Then with Kylie and Avin.
- 1:18Speaker 5: Now Kylie Navian was nice to see some development in
- 1:21Speaker 5: their relationship, because you know, we feel like they're probably
- 1:24Speaker 5: one of the stronger couples, but we haven't seen a
- 1:26Speaker 5: ton from them. And then, just to go into the
- 1:29Speaker 5: sequential ordering of the episode, then Katie comes down. That's
- 1:34Speaker 5: super interesting, and then the roast happens. Now, the roast
- 1:42Speaker 5: is interesting. So Tanner Tolbert brought up to Jared during
- 1:46Speaker 5: Chris and Lauren's wedding festivities fift festivities that he says,
- 1:50Speaker 5: isn't like the way that most of the drama this
- 1:52Speaker 5: season is coming from seemingly produced segments like, of course,
- 1:57Speaker 5: you guys, it's produced that Katie Thurston is going to
- 1:59Speaker 5: come down and lead a comedic roast, like the contestants
- 2:04Speaker 5: didn't on their own come up with a comedic roast, right,
- 2:07Speaker 5: And then the other thing is the secrets box, And
- 2:12Speaker 5: we had a secrets box segment this episode two. So
- 2:16Speaker 5: I get it, But I also think that's probably there's
- 2:20Speaker 5: probably not a lot going on, just because I don't
- 2:22Speaker 5: think this this group really feels each other enough for
- 2:27Speaker 5: there to be like a ton of authentic drama.
- 2:29Speaker 2: So let's start at the beginning.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Obviously, this is a great episode to break down we're
- 2:33Speaker 3: gonna start with part one, which we'll consider part one
- 2:36Speaker 3: Michael's Date.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Obviously, we left on a cliffhanger last week Michael's Date.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I forgot about that.
- 2:41Speaker 3: We didn't know who Michael was going to choose. We
- 2:43Speaker 3: knew that Olivia felt like, in our opinion, the right
- 2:46Speaker 3: one for him. We do see Kat not surprisingly fully
- 2:52Speaker 3: supporting the idea that Michael would go on a date
- 2:54Speaker 3: with Olivia.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Because Kat wants to be home alone with.
- 3:01Speaker 3: John Henry. She just wants to make out with John Henry.
- 3:03Speaker 3: She wants Olivia away. So we get to Michael's date,
- 3:06Speaker 3: and who does Michael pick. Michael picks Olivia.
- 3:09Speaker 4: And you're right, Michael does pick Olivia.
- 3:11Speaker 5: Last week I was saying he wasn't going to for
- 3:13Speaker 5: drama's sake, but I didn't know.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I was kind of convinced with you too, Like I
- 3:16Speaker 3: was like, yeah, I think he's gonna pick Olivia because
- 3:19Speaker 3: it's really the only one that makes sense here, like
- 3:21Speaker 3: nobody else really makes sense. However, I could see it
- 3:23Speaker 3: going the opposite direction. I will say this, just add
- 3:26Speaker 3: this in. I was not shocked that he picked Olivia,
- 3:29Speaker 3: because there is no way in chance the show wants
- 3:31Speaker 3: Olivia to go home. She is too much of the
- 3:33Speaker 3: show and she's too good on this show.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Well, it's unfortunate though, it's so late in the season that, like,
- 3:38Speaker 5: even though the two of them will exchange ross or whatever,
- 3:41Speaker 5: it's the girls giving out the ross this week, which
- 3:44Speaker 5: we don't see the rose ceremony, but we go into
- 3:46Speaker 5: the lead in We're not gonna see a lot of them.
- 3:49Speaker 5: They're not gonna make it. This is not gonna be
- 3:51Speaker 5: an engaged couple. He comes in too late. Olivia is
- 3:54Speaker 5: very taken by him though, and Olivia is just absolutely hilarious.
- 3:58Speaker 4: She goes ring sigh to.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Be determined, but I'm about to be taken And then
- 4:04Speaker 5: right after saying that, and yes, it's probably clipped this
- 4:06Speaker 5: way either way, she's in an interviewing go and dog
- 4:10Speaker 5: about this man, and then the producer goes, what's his
- 4:13Speaker 5: name again?
- 4:14Speaker 4: She forgets the man's name.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Yes, so freaking funny.
- 4:20Speaker 5: She just keeps saying, like, this is an attractive man.
- 4:24Speaker 5: That's a good looking man.
- 4:26Speaker 3: She's so funny, she's great, she's been good for Paradise.
- 4:31Speaker 3: This is really her element. Well, they do kiss, Olivia
- 4:35Speaker 3: and Michael do kiss. There is some excitement. As you said,
- 4:38Speaker 3: we're pretty far through the season, so who knows how
- 4:40Speaker 3: this ends, but we do know that there's some excitement
- 4:43Speaker 3: when it comes to that couple. And here are the
- 4:44Speaker 3: other couples that currently exist on the beach at this point,
- 4:48Speaker 3: Kat and John, Henry, Avan and Kylie, Aaron and Eliza,
- 4:52Speaker 3: Blake and Jess, Sam and Peter, Mercedes and Tyler, Michael
- 4:56Speaker 3: and Olivia, now Tanner and Rachel. But we do have
- 4:59Speaker 3: two new arrivals. We have two new guys showing up
- 5:03Speaker 3: to the beach, Jordan and Taylor.
- 5:05Speaker 5: Taylor was a eliminated Night one of Charity season and
- 5:07Speaker 5: he's actually of a couple of night winners and we
- 5:11Speaker 5: get it, there's always one night winner that the producers
- 5:14Speaker 5: were like, oh, that's unfortunate they got eliminated. Will definitely
- 5:17Speaker 5: have them back for Paradise. I think Olivia is also
- 5:19Speaker 5: a night winner. But having this guy Taylor, who has
- 5:22Speaker 5: absolutely no personality and it's just filling a spot. I'm like,
- 5:27Speaker 5: come on, guys, you couldn't convince one other of Charity
- 5:31Speaker 5: or another Bachelorette seasons guys to come on this show.
- 5:35Speaker 5: It's feeling, it's feeling weird that it does feel some
- 5:38Speaker 5: people are willing to come on the show now.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Well, it is odd because there's so many people. I
- 5:43Speaker 3: bet if we sat down long enough and said, hey,
- 5:46Speaker 3: like who would we like to see on Paradise. There's
- 5:48Speaker 3: so many people that we didn't see this year on
- 5:51Speaker 3: Paradise that I know you and I have both wanted
- 5:53Speaker 3: to be there, and it does. I mean, it used
- 5:56Speaker 3: to be kind of crazy if a Night Winner was
- 5:58Speaker 3: brought to the beach, right, I mean, it was a
- 6:00Speaker 3: big deal.
- 6:00Speaker 4: It's usually just a standard one, always one.
- 6:03Speaker 3: But this year we've had a lot of contestants, so
- 6:05Speaker 3: we just aren't connected with Like Bachelor Nation is having
- 6:08Speaker 3: to going to Google and say, you know, Taylor Charity
- 6:11Speaker 3: season just to figure out who it is.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Yeah, uh huh Okay.
- 6:14Speaker 5: So Taylor comes in, but he comes in with Jordan,
- 6:16Speaker 5: who I do remember quite vividly from Rachel and Gaby
- 6:19Speaker 5: season because Jordan was that very adorable guy race car driver,
- 6:24Speaker 5: made a seriously good first impression night one and then
- 6:28Speaker 5: goes on to her first one on one date. And
- 6:31Speaker 5: in this episode, Rachel admits that she made a mistake
- 6:34Speaker 5: in eliminating him so early. Should have given him more
- 6:36Speaker 5: of a chance. So it just seems natural that the
- 6:39Speaker 5: two of them are going to go on this date
- 6:41Speaker 5: when Jordan gets the date guard and they do and
- 6:43Speaker 5: they do Tandric yoga, and it is the they got chemistry.
- 6:47Speaker 5: They have mad chemistry, and they also kiss on their
- 6:49Speaker 5: first date back a year and a half ago.
- 6:52Speaker 2: But didn't we say this, like Ashley, We were.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Like, Rachel, what, Rachel?
- 6:57Speaker 5: What?
- 6:57Speaker 4: You guys have something?
- 6:59Speaker 5: I I think maybe she was just taking her role
- 7:01Speaker 5: too seriously on that first one on one where she
- 7:04Speaker 5: was like, if I don't see him as my husband
- 7:07Speaker 5: at this point, then I have to eliminate him, because
- 7:09Speaker 5: I'm assuming it's like a learning process. It was her
- 7:11Speaker 5: first date as a bachelorette.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Yeah, somebody should have gotten in her ear though, been like, yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 3: even if you don't think he has yet, he's good
- 7:19Speaker 3: enough to give him time. And obviously there was chemistry.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I mean this date it radiates chemistry for me. I
- 7:26Speaker 3: am a little surprised.
- 7:27Speaker 5: Now.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Granted, I don't think he had a lot of choices, right,
- 7:30Speaker 3: there's not a lot of single people still on the beach.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I'm surprised that he was willing to give it a
- 7:35Speaker 3: second shot, he was lingering.
- 7:38Speaker 5: Okay for both of them, like oh, we have to
- 7:41Speaker 5: do this because like we're going to wonder what if
- 7:44Speaker 5: for too long. She was so happy to get the
- 7:46Speaker 5: invite and the chemistry was great. It was like it
- 7:50Speaker 5: was palpable, Like I really felt it, which is.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Why I was shocked.
- 7:54Speaker 5: When she comes home, Tanner brings up the fact that like, Oh,
- 7:57Speaker 5: I'm just I was kind of disappointed to see you
- 7:59Speaker 5: go on the date because I gave you my Rose
- 8:01Speaker 5: the Roast ceremony the night before because I was in
- 8:06Speaker 5: you know, she said, he said that, and then she
- 8:09Speaker 5: was like, but I thought it was like a friendship Rose,
- 8:11Speaker 5: And I'm like, Rachel, what what do you mean a
- 8:14Speaker 5: friendship ros? You guys had a sexy makeout before that
- 8:17Speaker 5: roads was handed to you. That was a really hot makeout.
- 8:21Speaker 3: It was, but remember it was set up. It was like, Hey,
- 8:25Speaker 3: you're attractive, I'm attractive. You want to make out.
- 8:28Speaker 2: It wasn't like a I felt like friends. I don't
- 8:30Speaker 2: think it felt like friends.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I think it would feel more like, hey, you and
- 8:33Speaker 3: I are both on the beach, were the two single
- 8:35Speaker 3: people here. You're attractive, I'm attractive. I want to have
- 8:39Speaker 3: some like physical intimacy. I want to feel like connected
- 8:42Speaker 3: to somebody. I haven't really since I've been here. Let's
- 8:45Speaker 3: make out they did. I just didn't feel like it
- 8:48Speaker 3: was anything worth speaking of, Like could I see them
- 8:51Speaker 3: going on a date?
- 8:52Speaker 2: Yes? Do I think there was any type of relationship here?
- 8:56Speaker 2: Not at all.
- 8:57Speaker 5: I thought it was significant because his that kiss made
- 9:03Speaker 5: him in some way not choose Davia, who he was
- 9:07Speaker 5: gaga over before the date, during the date, supposedly after
- 9:11Speaker 5: the date, so that that was the hottest kiss he's
- 9:13Speaker 5: ever had, was with Davia. And then he goes and
- 9:15Speaker 5: picks Rachel. So in my head, I'm like, oh, he
- 9:17Speaker 5: really likes Rachel. So I was confused why Rachel didn't
- 9:21Speaker 5: think otherwise.
- 9:23Speaker 3: And that's interesting and very true. Something happened between him
- 9:27Speaker 3: and Davia that ended it, and we just want to
- 9:29Speaker 3: see it. And that was the frustrating part about last week.
- 9:32Speaker 3: We felt like there was too many like loose ends
- 9:35Speaker 3: that we just didn't get any clarity to. That was
- 9:37Speaker 3: maybe one of the most confusing to us, was Okay,
- 9:42Speaker 3: this was such a good relationship and then all of
- 9:43Speaker 3: a sudden it's done. We don't know, we don't see
- 9:45Speaker 3: them have a discussion. We don't see them talk about it.
- 9:47Speaker 3: We don't see them have any type of separation and breakup.
- 9:51Speaker 3: And honestly, when he met with Rachel, I thought it
- 9:54Speaker 3: was more in the perspective of you and I are
- 9:55Speaker 3: both don't have anybody here at this point, like do
- 9:58Speaker 3: you want to hang out? So at that point when
- 10:00Speaker 3: and they sat down together, I think Davey and Tanner
- 10:02Speaker 3: were already done for whatever reason that we don't get,
- 10:06Speaker 3: you know that we're not privy to see.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, alrighty, So anyway, I love all this with
- 10:21Speaker 5: Rachel because again, I just like really like watching her
- 10:24Speaker 5: and I just think she's a sweet soul. And Okay,
- 10:30Speaker 5: so basically Tanner says that first thing, and then they
- 10:33Speaker 5: take a break from each other and she.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Talks to who does she talk to? She talks to
- 10:38Speaker 4: one of.
- 10:39Speaker 5: His friends and it is like no, no, no, Tanner
- 10:42Speaker 5: is like really into you.
- 10:45Speaker 4: And then they go and they talk.
- 10:46Speaker 5: And then Tanner is vulnerable and mushy and adorbs for
- 10:50Speaker 5: the first real time to me, like, I was like,
- 10:52Speaker 5: oh wait, maybe I'm going to root for this, because
- 10:54Speaker 5: in my head after seeing the Jordan date, I was like, ah, no,
- 10:58Speaker 5: Rachel and Jordan, they've got to keep this going.
- 11:01Speaker 4: They made the.
- 11:02Speaker 5: Mistake before to not keep it going, and now they're
- 11:05Speaker 5: seeing that there really is something.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Got to keep it going.
- 11:07Speaker 5: But then Tanner was so freaking cute and talking about
- 11:10Speaker 5: how he says, like he comes home all day long
- 11:13Speaker 5: he thinks about wanting a girlfriend and spend Yeah, it
- 11:17Speaker 5: was just just the most adorable thing. And he's just
- 11:21Speaker 5: really serious about finding someone. And then they kiss and
- 11:26Speaker 5: she says that that was like the most special, attractive
- 11:30Speaker 5: thing she's ever heard a guy say, or at least
- 11:33Speaker 5: that guy down there on that beach.
- 11:36Speaker 4: And I was like, all right, I guess I'm Jim Tanner.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Now I don't know. Can she just she's the bachelorette
- 11:42Speaker 4: in Paradise?
- 11:43Speaker 5: Which is why I thought later in the episode it
- 11:46Speaker 5: was weird that they kept making it seem like she
- 11:48Speaker 5: was sort of trying to talk herself out of options,
- 11:51Speaker 5: Like why is the bachelorette in Paradise not with a guy?
- 11:55Speaker 5: I'm like, right now, she seems to be interested in both,
- 12:00Speaker 5: so let's not make fun of her.
- 12:02Speaker 3: You know, isn't it wild how quickly somebody can go
- 12:06Speaker 3: from going home like you know, minutes away from not
- 12:09Speaker 3: getting a rose to then being in a love triangle. Yeah,
- 12:14Speaker 3: like she literally had nobody and now she has too many.
- 12:18Speaker 5: Yes, that happens in Paradise so often. And I do
- 12:23Speaker 5: wonder what's gonna happen at this cocktail party that we're
- 12:26Speaker 5: about to see next week, because she's gonna have to
- 12:29Speaker 5: make a decision on Jordan and Tanner and right away.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Who do you feel worse for us? Okay?
- 12:36Speaker 4: I feel worse for first, worse for Jordan.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I think I do too.
- 12:39Speaker 4: I just feel like it's let on.
- 12:40Speaker 2: He's let on. He's gonna hate Rachel.
- 12:42Speaker 3: He's gonna be like you are, like literally the one
- 12:46Speaker 3: like you have just like wrecked me twice now and
- 12:49Speaker 3: like an unpredictable and moments that it was so unexpected.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Yeah, m totally anything else worth mentioning on Thom just
- 12:59Speaker 4: looking at our notes.
- 13:02Speaker 2: No, we can move on.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Okay, alrighty, okay, next up? Oh my gosh, the truth box.
- 13:08Speaker 5: Truthbox is like saying stupid things about like guys having
- 13:12Speaker 5: shaved legs, and then it gets to this one. Tyler
- 13:16Speaker 5: doesn't like Mercedes as much as every Okay, well, here
- 13:22Speaker 5: here's the Verbandum, Tyler, everyone knows you're not that into Mercedes.
- 13:27Speaker 5: You better come clean because she deserves the truth.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Who do you think wrote it?
- 13:33Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know who do you think
- 13:36Speaker 4: wrote it?
- 13:36Speaker 3: It's hard because at this point, like, Okay, Cat is
- 13:40Speaker 3: the well Cat.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Is the only one I can think of. Kat is
- 13:42Speaker 2: the one that's been all about the truth box.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Brandon seems like he was into the toothbox too.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Sure, but Kat is friends with Mercedes, and so I
- 13:52Speaker 3: wonder if Kat knows or thinks she knows something that Cat.
- 13:57Speaker 3: It feels like like Cat burbage, right, everybody.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Knows, Yes, everybody knows, you better come clean?
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yes, Like what do you mean everybody knows? No, not
- 14:06Speaker 3: everybody knows. Mercedes obviously doesn't know, so not everybody knows.
- 14:10Speaker 3: But it sounds like something she would say.
- 14:12Speaker 5: Okay, And then I'm so weirded out by Tyler's reaction.
- 14:19Speaker 5: He basically like smiles and laughs, And then I'm surprised
- 14:25Speaker 5: by mercedes reaction is actually so on the outside kind of.
- 14:33Speaker 4: Laughs.
- 14:33Speaker 5: She looks lighthearted on the outside, but we know because
- 14:37Speaker 5: of her confessional segments that she's upset about it. But
- 14:41Speaker 5: I'm like Tyler, if somebody read that in front of me,
- 14:45Speaker 5: I would immediately pull her aside and start talking about it.
- 14:48Speaker 5: And as far as we see, he doesn't just brushes
- 14:52Speaker 5: it off. It's like a big thing. And if I
- 14:54Speaker 5: were Mercedes, I'd be like, I'm just gonna let this
- 14:57Speaker 5: sit in the air.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Well, I mean we this isn't you know, super shocking
- 15:01Speaker 3: to us. And that's kind of shocking because he did
- 15:03Speaker 3: make out with Jess and then go back to Mercedes.
- 15:06Speaker 3: So he made out with Jess and went back to Mercedes. Again,
- 15:09Speaker 3: we don't know if he went back to Mercedes because
- 15:11Speaker 3: Jess said, Hey, I actually I'm going to pursue things
- 15:15Speaker 3: with Blake and he goes, well, okay, Mercedes, you're my girl?
- 15:17Speaker 4: Yeah? Was it default?
- 15:19Speaker 3: Was it default? Is the question that we don't see.
- 15:21Speaker 3: We don't see how he made that decision. Again, that
- 15:23Speaker 3: was a weird scene where we see Jess and Tyler
- 15:25Speaker 3: making out and then we never really get anything else
- 15:27Speaker 3: from it.
- 15:28Speaker 5: Ever. Again, he's no, we never know whether Mercedes found
- 15:31Speaker 5: it out about that.
- 15:32Speaker 4: It just reaction. I suppose.
- 15:35Speaker 5: Yeah, her reaction seemed as if she must know, because
- 15:39Speaker 5: if she didn't, then it would be even more shocking
- 15:42Speaker 5: to her, and I think she would have been like
- 15:43Speaker 5: what anyway, Okay, So we revisit that later in the
- 15:48Speaker 5: episode during the roast. So then, hilariously, in like some
- 15:55Speaker 5: of the cutesy stuff that they have Pepper through the episode,
- 15:58Speaker 5: kat is teaching the boys aga class, and then the
- 16:03Speaker 5: big drama of the episode happens Katie arrives.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Katie wait so long for this? We did?
- 16:09Speaker 4: We waited so long.
- 16:10Speaker 5: And the answer to our debate on whether or not
- 16:14Speaker 5: she was there to date is we were or.
- 16:18Speaker 4: I was wrong.
- 16:20Speaker 5: She's not there to date, but she and Jesse certainly
- 16:23Speaker 5: played it up like she was when she was about
- 16:25Speaker 5: to walk down too. And yea, it was well done.
- 16:30Speaker 5: It was well done, and it was so much better
- 16:33Speaker 5: than when Hannah Brown came down and pretended like she
- 16:36Speaker 5: was going to date. Like we didn't have to do that.
- 16:38Speaker 5: All Katie did when she pulled Blake aside, and you
- 16:42Speaker 5: know that they had her walk down those stairs at
- 16:45Speaker 5: this week because they wanted to test Blake. And as
- 16:48Speaker 5: soon as those two sat down started talking each other,
- 16:51Speaker 5: the feelings were again I'm gonnause the word palpable. You
- 16:55Speaker 5: felt everything through the TV. The heart drops, just like
- 17:00Speaker 5: the sweaty palms, the dry mouth that you get when
- 17:04Speaker 5: you are talking to someone who makes you nervous, whether
- 17:08Speaker 5: that's because it's been over two years since you guys talked,
- 17:11Speaker 5: or because maybe you still love them.
- 17:15Speaker 4: When the producer asked Katie, do you still love him?
- 17:18Speaker 4: She couldn't answer it. So now I want them to
- 17:21Speaker 4: revisit each other in real life because it felt like
- 17:24Speaker 4: there could have been something still there.
- 17:26Speaker 5: Yes, did we see like they're ten minutes of a
- 17:29Speaker 5: reunion on TV in this in the place like under
- 17:36Speaker 5: the TV cameras. Yeah, it's gonna be probably more intense
- 17:40Speaker 5: there than it would be in real life.
- 17:42Speaker 4: But there's something there.
- 17:45Speaker 5: And what they wanted him to feel was that feeling
- 17:50Speaker 5: so that he can make a definitive decision about what's
- 17:52Speaker 5: going on with Jess, and it worked. He knew right
- 17:55Speaker 5: after sitting down with Katie that it's not there with Jess,
- 17:58Speaker 5: not enough.
- 17:59Speaker 4: He said, he knows what love feels like after.
- 18:01Speaker 5: Sitting down with Katie, even if it's just through memories.
- 18:06Speaker 2: And a little bit of this is unfair to me.
- 18:09Speaker 3: I don't know if I exactly like this because Katie
- 18:13Speaker 3: and Blake have a long history. They have been through
- 18:16Speaker 3: normal life together. There's been a deep connection between the
- 18:19Speaker 3: two of them. Of course, when somebody that you care
- 18:24Speaker 3: about and you've been attracted to and you've had memories with,
- 18:26Speaker 3: you see again, there is always still that connection.
- 18:29Speaker 4: I think there is. I get that.
- 18:32Speaker 3: So of course he's gonna, maybe in his mind, be
- 18:35Speaker 3: asked to compare it to Jess, and he's gonna say, yeah,
- 18:39Speaker 3: it's not it's not there yet.
- 18:40Speaker 2: But yeah, Kadians.
- 18:42Speaker 3: But Katie and Blake weren't there yet after four weeks
- 18:45Speaker 3: of dating, he said.
- 18:47Speaker 5: He said, I had even less time dating Katie on
- 18:51Speaker 5: the Bachelorette, and I felt stronger in less time for
- 18:56Speaker 5: Katie than I do for Jess after spending twenty four
- 19:00Speaker 5: seven with her for two three weeks.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I just don't I just didn't enjoy the decision having
- 19:07Speaker 3: to be made or being made at this point. I mean,
- 19:09Speaker 3: there's a lot of emotions still involved in this relationship.
- 19:12Speaker 3: It's obvious there was. You know, Katie's crying when she's
- 19:16Speaker 3: asked do you still love him? Like there is still
- 19:19Speaker 3: something there. But the question that we want to know
- 19:21Speaker 3: is are they gonna even try to figure it out?
- 19:23Speaker 2: Because if they don't, then Blake needs to move on.
- 19:25Speaker 5: She is, yeah, but Blake can move on, but he's
- 19:28Speaker 5: definitely shouldn't be moving on to Jess, who he doesn't
- 19:31Speaker 5: feel strongly enough for I think, and she doesn't feel.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Strongly enough for him.
- 19:35Speaker 5: She keeps saying, and I've pointed it out before, it's weird.
- 19:38Speaker 5: She's like, everything has just been kind of like a
- 19:41Speaker 5: train wreck for me here.
- 19:41Speaker 4: I'm like, no, it's not.
- 19:43Speaker 5: Has anybody barely you had one moment of somebody stealing
- 19:46Speaker 5: your man.
- 19:47Speaker 4: You've been fine.
- 19:49Speaker 5: You have been wishy washy and whether or not you
- 19:51Speaker 5: like him enough you took that pause then you realize
- 19:54Speaker 5: you liked him enough, but both of you have been
- 19:57Speaker 5: hesitant the entire time.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Well, I've just been a fan of that relationship since
- 20:02Speaker 3: the beginning because just came on the podcast and she
- 20:05Speaker 3: was very sweet.
- 20:05Speaker 2: We obviously had Blake come on. He's very nice.
- 20:08Speaker 3: I think it would something that could have worked or
- 20:10Speaker 3: at least been given a shot. And if we lose them,
- 20:15Speaker 3: But if we lose them, then, like, I don't know
- 20:16Speaker 3: who I'm cheering for right now. We do, we still
- 20:18Speaker 3: have Kylie Nevin even but we don't see hardly any
- 20:21Speaker 3: of them. And yes, this episode had a little bit
- 20:23Speaker 3: more and it had some emotion involved in their relationship,
- 20:25Speaker 3: but we haven't seen enough of them to really be
- 20:27Speaker 3: you know, tied into it. Really we saw more of
- 20:30Speaker 3: them when there was drama around their relationship and there
- 20:32Speaker 3: was the Olivia situation. Still, I don't know, I just
- 20:35Speaker 3: don't want to lose one more happy couple on the
- 20:37Speaker 3: speech because I don't know who in the heck is
- 20:39Speaker 3: going to make it to the end, because I've.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Just never felt the happy couple in them.
- 20:43Speaker 3: You know, Katie wasn't just there to meet with Blake.
- 20:45Speaker 3: She was also there to lead a date, which seems
- 20:47Speaker 3: to be another trend this season is having lead you know,
- 20:51Speaker 3: it's a roast, it's a it's the same thing. It's
- 20:55Speaker 3: like the same thing. Is that the same thing as
- 20:58Speaker 3: Hannah Brown did? It is yeah, a trend this season
- 21:02Speaker 3: where you rally everybody around and you do something together.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Call it a date, call it a group activity, call
- 21:08Speaker 3: it just some you know, decent TV.
- 21:12Speaker 2: It's still a thing. And she leads a roast obviously.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Because as we've talked to Katy about, she is a
- 21:17Speaker 3: professional comedian, so she's gonna be good at this.
- 21:19Speaker 2: The roast. The roast makes my palm sweat. Honestly. It me.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Here's a trend this year actually that I just want
- 21:25Speaker 3: to highlight to you. Okay, see if you agree or
- 21:28Speaker 3: agree or disagree, it feels like the show is doing
- 21:32Speaker 3: everything they possibly can to make people talk smack on
- 21:35Speaker 3: each other.
- 21:36Speaker 5: Well, yes, that's what I was saying earlier with Tanner.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Tolbert was saying, it just feels like weird dow scenes
- 21:43Speaker 5: to create drama.
- 21:45Speaker 3: But like drama does, if there's no drama, a monkst
- 21:48Speaker 3: these couples then tell us the.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Storyline feelings aren't big enough.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Well, yeah, the feelings aren't big enough where you didn't
- 21:54Speaker 3: cast it properly or you know whatever. But I think
- 21:58Speaker 3: there's been enough drama on the show for me to
- 22:00Speaker 3: be entertained. You know, we've have Braiden, We've had some
- 22:03Speaker 3: drama with Cat, We've had some drama with Olivia. There's
- 22:06Speaker 3: been enough drama for me to be entertained. It just
- 22:09Speaker 3: feels so synthetic to me when you're like, here's a
- 22:13Speaker 3: box that you can talk bad about somebody in and
- 22:16Speaker 3: never be known, and here's a roast that we can
- 22:18Speaker 3: all just like roast each other and talk and like
- 22:21Speaker 3: make fun of each other and just see if anything
- 22:23Speaker 3: comes from it.
- 22:23Speaker 2: And to me, it's kind of dirty.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Yeah, this was really this was hard. I was audibly
- 22:30Speaker 5: being like, oh ah, best part was even impersonating Rachel,
- 22:47Speaker 5: and that was just fine.
- 22:49Speaker 4: That's a little sweet impersonation. But there are certain things.
- 22:52Speaker 3: I was like, like, Cat, I mean Cat, we you know,
- 22:56Speaker 3: in our headline episode this week, we talked about how
- 22:59Speaker 3: Cat asked calls for kindness.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Now, I get it.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Kat has definitely been outrageous on this season of the Bachelorette.
- 23:06Speaker 3: We've talked about it here, we'll continue to talk about it.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Her behavior has not been one that we've been like, yeah,
- 23:10Speaker 3: go Kat, like we totally understand what you're doing and
- 23:12Speaker 3: we totally agree with everything you're saying. But like, obviously,
- 23:16Speaker 3: Kat is what the show should know. If you're the
- 23:20Speaker 3: kind of the villain on a season, and you know
- 23:23Speaker 3: that's gonna be hard enough when people watch it for
- 23:25Speaker 3: that contestant, don't make it even harder by, you know,
- 23:28Speaker 3: getting like the verbal words being said from other castmates.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I mean, Aaron calls her red flag. Blake says she's
- 23:36Speaker 3: full of shit. Tanner says her face wasn't moving from
- 23:39Speaker 3: because of all the botox she gets.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Olivia says, then she was like, yeah, so it's working
- 23:43Speaker 4: and it's good.
- 23:44Speaker 2: And I'm like, yeah, girl, I get it.
- 23:47Speaker 3: It just still has to It still hurts. It still
- 23:49Speaker 3: hurts enough, and you hear it. I don't know at
- 23:53Speaker 3: this point if Kat is understanding that, yes, actually not
- 23:55Speaker 3: everybody agrees with everything she's doing. I still think that's
- 23:58Speaker 3: a question I have.
- 23:59Speaker 2: But I don't know. It's this whole thing feels dirty
- 24:02Speaker 2: to me. It just just feels unnecessary.
- 24:05Speaker 5: I just mentioned that even making fun of the way
- 24:08Speaker 5: that Rachel sometimes talks was fun, and that was like
- 24:11Speaker 5: exactly the way it should be, is like lighthearted. The
- 24:14Speaker 5: one that comes later forget who says it says that
- 24:20Speaker 5: like what's wrong with Rachel? She was the bachelorette and
- 24:23Speaker 5: now she had thirty three guys to choose from, and
- 24:26Speaker 5: now she has a whole beach full and she still
- 24:29Speaker 5: can't find one. Like that was just really mean and like,
- 24:34Speaker 5: what are you even talking about? Plenty of guys have
- 24:36Speaker 5: shown interest in.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Her, Yeah, And I mean I think also it's very mean.
- 24:42Speaker 3: First off, second, off, she's singles, so why shouldn't she
- 24:46Speaker 3: be there? And she isn't like any better than any
- 24:48Speaker 3: of you, and she's not any worse than any of you.
- 24:50Speaker 3: You've all been rejected on this show, you've all had
- 24:53Speaker 3: a breakup from the show, so you're all on an
- 24:55Speaker 3: equal playing field. And took Rachel's credit. She has handled Paradise,
- 25:00Speaker 3: not like she is above anybody else. She's handled it
- 25:03Speaker 3: just like everybody else. And I think that is to
- 25:06Speaker 3: her credit and something admirable that she didn't come down
- 25:08Speaker 3: and be like, I'm the bachelorette, so like, yeah, boys
- 25:11Speaker 3: flock to me, that's not a thing.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:14Speaker 5: And then there was also a comment again about Mercedes,
- 25:18Speaker 5: about just Tyler not liking Mercedes, and.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Again Tyler smiles and laughs.
- 25:25Speaker 5: I'm like, dude, I guess you really don't like her,
- 25:27Speaker 5: but now your reactions making it even more cruel. All
- 25:31Speaker 5: this is not addressed really yet, because it seems everybody
- 25:36Speaker 5: runs off crying, okay, and then they go to bed.
- 25:39Speaker 5: The next day they're separated as the girls and the
- 25:42Speaker 5: guys are before a rose ceremony, they come together and
- 25:46Speaker 5: this is where it'll all be pretty much addressed in
- 25:48Speaker 5: the pre pre Rose Ceremony cocktail party. And the only
- 25:53Speaker 5: thing we really get teased going into it though, is
- 25:56Speaker 5: Blake pulling Jess aside and she's like, I'm scared, I'm scared,
- 25:59Speaker 5: and he is pulling her to the breakup bed. So
- 26:02Speaker 5: many breakups have happened on that far side bed, and uh,
- 26:08Speaker 5: this is where he says like he has spent so
- 26:10Speaker 5: much more time with her, but with Katie he knew
- 26:13Speaker 5: by now, and he says he should feel he should
- 26:17Speaker 5: feel like he knows with her by now, and we'll
- 26:19Speaker 5: see how the rest of the conversation unfolds.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it's another teaser. The roast really set a weird
- 26:26Speaker 3: vibe for me.
- 26:27Speaker 5: It was like, really, I mean, I totally feel you.
- 26:30Speaker 5: I totally feel I would be so uncomfortable in that situation.
- 26:33Speaker 5: I could never even say those things.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Really want those things said about me, so I don't
- 26:38Speaker 3: want to say about anybody else. It just reminds me
- 26:41Speaker 3: like that there's people behind the scenes watching this.
- 26:44Speaker 2: How did they feel okay about this?
- 26:45Speaker 3: Everybody was very emotional, like they were obviously feeling very
- 26:49Speaker 3: down on themselves, and You're sitting back and like, hey, dad,
- 26:53Speaker 3: this worked like perfect everybody had a big reaction. It's like, no,
- 26:57Speaker 3: this is unfair to them. You set them up for this.
- 27:00Speaker 3: There was I mean, I guess yes. It goes back
- 27:03Speaker 3: to what I always say. You as a contestant could
- 27:06Speaker 3: have said no, I'm not doing this, like I'm just
- 27:08Speaker 3: not participating, right.
- 27:10Speaker 2: You had that ability.
- 27:11Speaker 3: However, not everybody has the confidence or maybe the knowledge
- 27:15Speaker 3: of the show, especially the night winterers, to put their
- 27:17Speaker 3: foot down and be like, no, not doing this, not participating.
- 27:21Speaker 3: This seems terrible from every angle. I didn't like it.
- 27:24Speaker 3: I didn't agree with it. I don't think it was
- 27:25Speaker 3: a good date. I hope they never do it again.
- 27:28Speaker 3: And I think all it was ever going to do
- 27:31Speaker 3: was going to cause more drama, more pain, probably some
- 27:35Speaker 3: more insecurities. It's gonna probably bring up some stuff about
- 27:40Speaker 3: you know, each individual person that they've tried to either
- 27:43Speaker 3: move on from or heal from. And for me, I
- 27:46Speaker 3: think it's absolutely ridiculous.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Can't go on.
- 27:49Speaker 5: Now I'm realizing I actually really really don't like ros
- 27:52Speaker 5: I don't find the ones on Comedy Central, funny, stand
- 27:56Speaker 5: up comedy, make fun of something for a few minutes,
- 27:58Speaker 5: and then move on. Nobody needs to be roasted.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Right, okay, And then just a few things we didn't
- 28:06Speaker 4: mention throughout the rest of the recap is Eliza and
- 28:10Speaker 4: Aaron b decide that they are officially boyfriend and girlfriend,
- 28:14Speaker 4: which is hilarious because in a couple of days they
- 28:16Speaker 4: could be officially fiancees. And then we also.
- 28:20Speaker 5: Got from Avon and Kylie that they are falling for
- 28:24Speaker 5: each other. And then there's Sam and Peter, who are
- 28:28Speaker 5: really coasting by and actually seem relatively strong. But I
- 28:32Speaker 5: don't think we expect much from them for some reason. Again,
- 28:35Speaker 5: I think it's just people we don't really know, so
- 28:38Speaker 5: we just kind of brush them aside no offense this point.
- 28:40Speaker 2: They're my favorite to get engaged.
- 28:42Speaker 3: I don't know, I have no I like have like
- 28:44Speaker 3: what two picks, and I'm like, I think Avian and
- 28:46Speaker 3: Kyler are going to engage because they feel like a couple. Yeah,
- 28:49Speaker 3: every year that's going to get engaged at the end
- 28:51Speaker 3: of this because they're hardly shown, we don't see a lot.
- 28:54Speaker 3: We see snippets, and then like the last episode is
- 28:56Speaker 3: going to be all about them, which is fantastic, and
- 28:58Speaker 3: they're going to do is like a little monologue through
- 29:01Speaker 3: their relationship, and I'll be like, oh, that's cool that
- 29:03Speaker 3: they said that to each other that wasn't shown.
- 29:05Speaker 2: And then I'm gonna be like, yeah, they'll be engage.
- 29:07Speaker 2: They seem in love.
- 29:08Speaker 3: But it's so weird this season in Paradise, Like usually
- 29:12Speaker 3: there's five couples that were like, goodness, gracious, this feels
- 29:15Speaker 3: like something special, we just don't have it right now.
- 29:17Speaker 4: And somebody is a breakup. I bet you have. It's
- 29:20Speaker 4: a shock breakup. It will either be Kylie. Yeah, it'll
- 29:25Speaker 4: be Kylie, It'll.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Be one of the two couples still together.
- 29:29Speaker 4: Okay, so here's my call.
- 29:30Speaker 5: One of those two couples will break up and the
- 29:33Speaker 5: other one will get engaged. And then there's that thing
- 29:36Speaker 5: that we mentioned last week. Will there actually be a
- 29:38Speaker 5: wedding like they teased or will it be some random
- 29:41Speaker 5: wedding at the Vendanta that they run into.
- 29:44Speaker 3: I think it's a random wedding at this point. I
- 29:46Speaker 3: do it just and it feels weird, Like what next,
- 29:49Speaker 3: you know, next week or whenever the next episode is,
- 29:51Speaker 3: We're going to tune in and all of a sudden
- 29:52Speaker 3: there's a wedding in Paradise, like they haven't it just
- 29:57Speaker 3: be a really weird wedding to have, and there's been no.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Likely Will you be my wife actually tomorrow?
- 30:03Speaker 2: Yeah, we will marry me today. Anyways, this has been
- 30:07Speaker 2: another episode of Bachelor in Paradise. Again. We thought this
- 30:10Speaker 2: episode was better than most. It was engaging, it was intriguing.
- 30:13Speaker 3: There was some other storylines I just personally cannot promote
- 30:17Speaker 3: or get behind the roast. I think it was unnecessary.
- 30:19Speaker 3: I thought this episode was really good on its own
- 30:21Speaker 3: without that, I did not think they needed it. And
- 30:24Speaker 3: I thought it was trying too hard to do too
- 30:28Speaker 3: much in kind of the realm of pain and insecurity,
- 30:32Speaker 3: and I just think that the show shows better than
- 30:35Speaker 3: that at this point.
- 30:36Speaker 4: Yeah, it was like a little bit of a trash
- 30:38Speaker 4: TV moment, right.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Yeah it was. It just didn't feel like it fit.
- 30:41Speaker 3: But hey, that's me and that's why I sit behind
- 30:43Speaker 3: this Mike, and I don't have a job on the show.
- 30:46Speaker 2: I really have no say so.
- 30:47Speaker 3: Anyways, until next time, we'll be breaking down a ton
- 30:50Speaker 3: of stuff this week. We've got some great episodes coming out.
- 30:52Speaker 3: We got some great interviews with some couples who had
- 30:54Speaker 3: just gotten married. We have the headlines out, we have
- 30:58Speaker 3: Golden Bachelor to break down. Obviously, we just broke down Paradise.
- 31:02Speaker 3: There's so much good going on, ash We're busy.
- 31:05Speaker 4: All right, seeya bye.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Oh.
- 31:07Speaker 2: I've been Ashley and I've been Ben later, guys.
