- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I know, and Will Cole Schreiber is going to do
- 0:14Speaker 2: the weather on Monday, whether he likes it or not,
- 0:17Speaker 2: because he will not be doing weather today because it's
- 0:20Speaker 2: whether he's here or not.
- 0:22Speaker 3: He actually never does whether he does.
- 0:23Speaker 4: Try no traffic.
- 0:24Speaker 2: But yeah, you can't use weather sounds better because you
- 0:27Speaker 2: can use that in the phrase just listen, don't interrupt. Okay,
- 0:32Speaker 2: when I'm going off on a tangent, leave my tangent along.
- 0:36Speaker 1: And now handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen. Here's
- 0:41Speaker 1: Bill Handle, Good morning, everybody handle here.
- 0:47Speaker 2: It is a Monday morning, June twenty nine, and I
- 0:51Speaker 2: always I've never figured out which months have thirty one
- 0:55Speaker 2: and thirty.
- 0:56Speaker 4: We do this all year. I look at my you know,
- 0:58Speaker 4: they do.
- 0:58Speaker 2: A knuckle thing, but my prison tattoos on my knunckle
- 1:02Speaker 2: on knuckles don't really let me do the counting sound.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that tooth.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Will said, let's let me see June has I don't know,
- 1:15Speaker 2: never huh thirty. I've never been able to figure it out.
- 1:19Speaker 2: That's just one of those things I've just never been
- 1:21Speaker 2: able to do.
- 1:21Speaker 5: There's a rhyme that you could do, but you'd have
- 1:24Speaker 5: to remember it.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I know, roses are red, violets are blue, but the calendar,
- 1:31Speaker 2: you silly jew? Yeah, very strong, Okay, I just shut
- 1:42Speaker 2: Amy up.
- 1:42Speaker 4: She's done.
- 1:43Speaker 2: She was going to do the knuckle phrase and that's
- 1:47Speaker 2: got lost.
- 1:50Speaker 6: Window.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Just let it go, all right, Good, Good morning Amy,
- 1:53Speaker 2: Good morning, yeap will is back, Good morning. Well with
- 1:58Speaker 2: your Costco Hawaiian shirt. There, I am slowly becoming you.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I got this at Costco over the weekend.
- 2:06Speaker 6: I'm veryous.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Of course, she did sixteen dollars, yes, fifteen ninety nine.
- 2:11Speaker 2: In the meantime, it's Lindsey is getting rid of all
- 2:16Speaker 2: my shirts because I have some them for twenty five
- 2:18Speaker 2: years and she's replacing them, slowly but surely with Tommy
- 2:23Speaker 2: Bahama shirts.
- 2:25Speaker 6: Now.
- 2:25Speaker 4: I'm used to buying Tony Bahama.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Shirts for sixteen bucks. The problem is Tommy Bahama shirts
- 2:32Speaker 2: are one hundred and thirty dollars apiece. How do you
- 2:36Speaker 2: spend one hundred and thirty dollars for a shirt? And
- 2:40Speaker 2: I have a closet full of them, you know. On
- 2:47Speaker 2: the show, I tend to put on shirts, you know,
- 2:50Speaker 2: because I just do that.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Just everything else.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I still my sleep shorts, I'm still my slippers and
- 2:56Speaker 2: my T shirt. So I throw on a shirt just
- 2:59Speaker 2: so I can look reasonably impressive or originally put together
- 3:02Speaker 2: for the morning show. And it was always my cheap
- 3:05Speaker 2: o creepo shirts, because that's how much that's so important
- 3:08Speaker 2: you guys are to me. I don't I'm losing my
- 3:11Speaker 2: cheap o creepo shirts.
- 3:13Speaker 6: Why does she care? I don't know why.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I know. For example, I brought home four shirts a
- 3:20Speaker 2: couple of weeks ago, and there's a whole series of
- 3:24Speaker 2: shirts colors will will tell you. So I bought four
- 3:28Speaker 2: of them, came home the next day they were gone.
- 3:31Speaker 2: She had returned them. There is no way I am
- 3:35Speaker 2: going to wear, as far as she's concerned, a Costco
- 3:39Speaker 2: shirt anymore.
- 3:40Speaker 7: Has she thrown away your V neck T shirts?
- 3:44Speaker 4: Yes, old man wear those. You know I've always worn
- 3:48Speaker 4: V neck because horrible.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Well, I've got all kru neck to also much much
- 3:53Speaker 2: smaller T shirts I am now. I used to be
- 3:56Speaker 2: a three XL. Now I am a two XCEL. Except
- 4:00Speaker 2: in the shirt department with the Tommy Bahammad shirts, I
- 4:04Speaker 2: just wear an XL. Last time I wore an XL shirt.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I was entering elementary school and by the time I
- 4:15Speaker 2: got out none. All right, anyway, there's Will the morning Will.
- 4:20Speaker 2: So Will is back. Neil is back, Neil. Nice to
- 4:22Speaker 2: have you back.
- 4:23Speaker 6: Good to be back. Michelle Cube just texted me. Please
- 4:26Speaker 6: tell me she got rid of the Root sixty sixth shirt.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Not a chance. That's my favorite shirt. I save that
- 4:34Speaker 2: when Michelle fills in for Ann. She hates that shirt.
- 4:40Speaker 2: I mean hates that shirt with a passion.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Oh ask you.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I sent a text to Cube to Michelle. Am I
- 4:47Speaker 2: working on Friday? Or we're celebrating in July fourth? On Friday?
- 4:50Speaker 6: Right? Well you're not working?
- 4:53Speaker 4: No, But I'm saying is because it's on the day off.
- 4:56Speaker 7: No.
- 4:57Speaker 4: I always say July fourth off.
- 4:59Speaker 2: But the point is, is it what falls on a
- 5:01Speaker 2: weekend before that?
- 5:05Speaker 4: Was it?
- 5:05Speaker 2: Yeah? I am taking the July turn off because I
- 5:08Speaker 2: want to say fun. Yeah, I'm gonna say. Glued to
- 5:10Speaker 2: the TV watching the Donald Trump rally two hundred and
- 5:13Speaker 2: fiftieth birthday. I cannot wait for that. I cannot wait. Uh,
- 5:18Speaker 2: there's going to be what do they do? There's a
- 5:20Speaker 2: h during Easter, there's the White House Easter egg hunt, Uh,
- 5:25Speaker 2: this one, there's gonna be the algae bloom hunt that
- 5:29Speaker 2: we're going to be.
- 5:30Speaker 4: That's gonna happen.
- 5:34Speaker 7: Himself.
- 5:36Speaker 6: He'll be signing little slabs of blue p eight coming
- 5:39Speaker 6: off the.
- 5:42Speaker 4: And Cono is here.
- 5:44Speaker 6: Good morning, Cono, good morning, and just a quick belated
- 5:48Speaker 6: birthday to my wonderful mother. And hopefully you didn't forget
- 5:51Speaker 6: your daughter's birthday.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I think now I didn't. I called I. I called
- 5:54Speaker 2: my daughters. Barbara is on a cruise. She's on in
- 5:57Speaker 2: Alaska right now.
- 5:59Speaker 3: That's a good cruise.
- 6:00Speaker 2: It's a fun cruise. Yeah, it's a it's a very
- 6:03Speaker 2: fun cruise.
- 6:04Speaker 7: Is that the same one who's going on a cruise
- 6:05Speaker 7: in December that's with me? Oh my god, your kids
- 6:09Speaker 7: are just so spoiled. Are you kidding me?
- 6:12Speaker 4: One percent? Yeah, I was born.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I'm taking I'm taking Pamela on a foodie cruise.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Well just foody cruises.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Yeah, they're foody cruises. So we're on a foody cruise.
- 6:27Speaker 3: No, I said, it's all cruises foody cruises.
- 6:29Speaker 2: No, No, this is a specific foody cruise where they
- 6:33Speaker 2: bring in uh, celebrity chefs, they bring in guests, the curator,
- 6:39Speaker 2: they bring in people to curate foods. And it's in
- 6:42Speaker 2: the Caribbean, which I don't know if you've ever been
- 6:44Speaker 2: in the Caribbean, it's it's the same you go to
- 6:46Speaker 2: all the islands, it's the same group of black people
- 6:48Speaker 2: that just speak different languages. They just go here, you go,
- 6:52Speaker 2: they're speaking Dutch or Martinique. And then they go to NASA.
- 6:55Speaker 6: Same group.
- 6:56Speaker 2: They go to NASA and they speak English. Go to
- 7:00Speaker 2: Monique and they speak French. Didn't I see you before?
- 7:04Speaker 2: Which racist Monday? On the Bill handles show? Well there
- 7:08Speaker 2: you go, all right, why don't we why don't we
- 7:12Speaker 2: start the news on this Monday?
- 7:14Speaker 4: How you doing great?
- 7:15Speaker 2: Bill?
- 7:16Speaker 7: Nicest you?
- 7:17Speaker 2: Oh that I forget in already, Okay, Neil and Anne
- 7:22Speaker 2: and I get into these conversations beforehand. So and that
- 7:25Speaker 2: was not a perfect purposeful slapping the face to you. Okay, okay, okay, Hi, Ann,
- 7:33Speaker 2: How you doing this morning?
- 7:34Speaker 4: Doing great? Okay, let's do it, guys, Time for handle
- 7:36Speaker 4: on the news with Neil. Who's back? Amy and me least? Sorry?
- 7:42Speaker 2: All right. The cease fire, even though it is not
- 7:45Speaker 2: a cease fire, continues on. I think the an official
- 7:51Speaker 2: the United States said America and Iran will stand down
- 7:54Speaker 2: for now. There were over the weekend there were strikes
- 7:57Speaker 2: from both sides, but the ceasefire, fragile ceasefire is still
- 8:02Speaker 2: going on because neither side wants a really extensive war
- 8:06Speaker 2: like it was before. And the President keeps on saying,
- 8:10Speaker 2: if Iran doesn't come to the table, I'm going to
- 8:13Speaker 2: blow it the smither reens, it will cease to exist.
- 8:16Speaker 2: That is all pablem It will not happen. He cannot
- 8:20Speaker 2: have it happen politically, it would explode in his face
- 8:25Speaker 2: and all the Republicans that are backing him up would
- 8:28Speaker 2: be in a lot of trouble politically.
- 8:30Speaker 4: So this is going to go on and on.
- 8:33Speaker 2: And as you remember, was it Marco Rubio or was
- 8:36Speaker 2: it advanced that said we control the strait of horror
- 8:39Speaker 2: mooz No, Iran controls the state.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Of horrm moose, but we're not admitting it.
- 8:45Speaker 2: And so it's we'll talk more about this because this
- 8:49Speaker 2: is really really big, and then let's do a story
- 8:52Speaker 2: that is just horrific.
- 8:55Speaker 4: In Venezuela.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Yeah, the desperate search for survivors continues. Rescue teams are
- 9:01Speaker 5: racing to find survivors of the two powerful earthquakes. Of course,
- 9:04Speaker 5: they hit Venezuela last Wednesday. The number of people who've
- 9:09Speaker 5: been killed officially is about fifteen hundred, but they're saying
- 9:13Speaker 5: that tens of thousands of people are still missing.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it's going to be tough.
- 9:19Speaker 2: When it was first reported last week, when we started
- 9:21Speaker 2: talking about it, I had questioned, how is it that
- 9:24Speaker 2: an after shock is bigger than the initial shock? Because
- 9:28Speaker 2: the initial shock was seven point five and it was
- 9:30Speaker 2: seven point eight. I said, I've never heard of an
- 9:32Speaker 2: after shock doing this.
- 9:33Speaker 4: It wasn't They.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Were two separate, disparate earthquakes thirty seconds apart. I have
- 9:42Speaker 2: never heard of that happening. Two massive quakes thirty seconds apart.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I mean, man, welcome to earthquake Heaven.
- 9:50Speaker 6: Former President Joe Biden was delivering these keynote address there
- 9:57Speaker 6: in Maryland. It was hosted by the state's Democratic Party,
- 10:00Speaker 6: and as he's going on, he's talking about the vanity
- 10:03Speaker 6: and incompetence of his predecessor, not predecessor. His guy came
- 10:09Speaker 6: after him. We all know, right, and he said that
- 10:13Speaker 6: one of the things he started getting teed off about
- 10:18Speaker 6: was the presidential pardons for those in their role in
- 10:22Speaker 6: the violent attack on the US Capitol in January sixth,
- 10:24Speaker 6: twenty twenty one. I do not hold that against him
- 10:28Speaker 6: in the slightest. I think Trump should be bashed about that.
- 10:32Speaker 6: But he said whoa Biden said, reciting all that, he goes,
- 10:36Speaker 6: what a loser?
- 10:37Speaker 4: Yeah? What are the things about Donald Trump?
- 10:39Speaker 2: Has? He's changed so much and he's probably gonna be
- 10:42Speaker 2: a president that has changed the United States more so
- 10:46Speaker 2: than anybody since FDR. But one of the things that
- 10:49Speaker 2: I like is he has also changed the tone rhetoric
- 10:53Speaker 2: in politics.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Now people are losers.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Gavin Newsom calls him a loser and not very bright.
- 11:02Speaker 2: It's just it's reached a level where it's not political
- 11:05Speaker 2: talk political speak anymore. I disagree with the position that
- 11:09Speaker 2: the president has taken.
- 11:11Speaker 4: He's a loser, he has no IQ what.
- 11:15Speaker 6: I wish we could go back. I don't want to
- 11:16Speaker 6: see Biden. I like it state and.
- 11:19Speaker 4: He started it, and I like it. I'm sorry, I
- 11:21Speaker 4: think it's so entertaining. I think it's great.
- 11:24Speaker 6: Of course you do. You're a loser.
- 11:25Speaker 4: I am there you go.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Half trillion dollar investment in AI. South Korea has rolled
- 11:34Speaker 5: out sweeping chip and AI mega projects as the president
- 11:39Speaker 5: Lee J Mung pledged to cement overwhelming industry leadership with
- 11:44Speaker 5: investments worth more than four hundred and seventy six billion
- 11:47Speaker 5: dollars over several years. The president said, we must secure
- 11:50Speaker 5: the core elements of AI faster than any country. They've
- 11:54Speaker 5: got Samsung and sk Heinex investing about five hundred and
- 11:58Speaker 5: eighteen billion dollar to build new chip fabrication sites in
- 12:03Speaker 5: South Korea's Southwest region.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Yeah, look at the money's being thrown in.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Anthropic is throwing in hundreds of billions of dollars other companies.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I mean, it's in the trillions already, the investment into AI.
- 12:15Speaker 2: And then the question is is it going to pay
- 12:17Speaker 2: for itself? I don't know it, but well, these guys
- 12:19Speaker 2: are a lot smarter than I am. People that are
- 12:22Speaker 2: worth hundreds of billions of dollars don't have to work
- 12:24Speaker 2: here and don't have to deal with Neil.
- 12:29Speaker 6: It's good to be back, sir. Just you wait. AI
- 12:34Speaker 6: is going to solve a lot more problems than people think,
- 12:36Speaker 6: especially with green energy and all kinds of things like that.
- 12:40Speaker 6: We're going to have to take it in the dumper
- 12:41Speaker 6: at first, but we'll be better off. The Trump administration
- 12:46Speaker 6: is reportedly ordering staff in the most confusing memo I
- 12:50Speaker 6: could think of, not to confirm deaths or details about
- 12:55Speaker 6: severe injuries at US national parks. But they also say
- 13:01Speaker 6: on the flip side, the policy is not meant to
- 13:04Speaker 6: conceal information from the public, but that's exactly what the
- 13:07Speaker 6: request is. So staff are permitted only to confirm that
- 13:11Speaker 6: an incident happened in one of the national parks and
- 13:17Speaker 6: the general location where it occurred, and that authorities are responding.
- 13:22Speaker 6: We know this month you had that Park Service staff
- 13:24Speaker 6: that offered only up mineral details about the two deaths
- 13:28Speaker 6: at California National Parks, the fatality of fatality on Saturday
- 13:33Speaker 6: at Yosemite. So but I don't I don't understand why
- 13:38Speaker 6: would you want to hold any of that NOO.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Maybe because you think negatively about the Park Service.
- 13:44Speaker 4: I don't know. But that story that we will do.
- 13:47Speaker 2: That yeah, young that that young man two year old
- 13:51Speaker 2: that went a I think either when swimming or fell
- 13:53Speaker 2: in and went over.
- 13:55Speaker 4: It was way too close to the falls. When over
- 13:58Speaker 4: six hundred feet he fell and died. It was horrible,
- 14:03Speaker 4: although the Park Service did mention that he had died
- 14:06Speaker 4: but sustained minor injuries. No, because his head had exploded
- 14:12Speaker 4: when it hit a rock. I no, that's not true.
- 14:14Speaker 6: What do you needed to put rails and bubble wrap
- 14:17Speaker 6: all over a nation?
- 14:18Speaker 2: No, it was an undercurrent. There was a lifeguard and
- 14:21Speaker 2: she made it out barely. She jumped in to try
- 14:24Speaker 2: to save him and it didn't work. Oh, here is
- 14:26Speaker 2: a horrific story.
- 14:28Speaker 5: The no kill part of this shelter somehow got lost
- 14:31Speaker 5: in translation. Investigators have found the remains of one hundred
- 14:36Speaker 5: and seventeen dogs, a lot of them were found with
- 14:40Speaker 5: gun shot wounds, on the grounds of a no kill
- 14:44Speaker 5: shelter in northern California. They found about six hundred dog
- 14:49Speaker 5: collars on the property. Officials had been investigating potential fraud
- 14:54Speaker 5: or animal cruelty after hundreds of animals were discovered missing
- 14:57Speaker 5: from the facility. The sanctuary owner has asked the public to,
- 15:02Speaker 5: as they put it, consider all the facts before reaching conclusions.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know what conclusions you can reach other
- 15:09Speaker 2: than one hundred and seventeen dogs were found shot or
- 15:14Speaker 2: the remainings were found shot after being in the shelter. Yeah.
- 15:18Speaker 4: I don't know quite where you're going to go with that.
- 15:22Speaker 6: You know, you don't want to have when you throw
- 15:24Speaker 6: a massive party, is nobody knowing who's going to pick
- 15:29Speaker 6: up the tab. And that's what we've been hearing back
- 15:32Speaker 6: and forth with the Los Angeles officials going back and
- 15:35Speaker 6: forth about the twenty twenty eight Olympic Games. They're talking
- 15:38Speaker 6: about not knowing where the funding was going to come
- 15:42Speaker 6: for hundreds of millions of dollars, and it seems they
- 15:48Speaker 6: have reached a tentative agreement. It hasn't been approved by
- 15:52Speaker 6: Mayor Karen Bass or the city Council as of yet,
- 15:55Speaker 6: but the privately run Olympic Organization Committee LA twenty eight
- 15:59Speaker 6: is going to provide the city with funding in advance
- 16:03Speaker 6: to cover services that are ineligible for reimbursement from the
- 16:07Speaker 6: traditional federal government. And this deals with traffic control, trash,
- 16:12Speaker 6: pick up, all kinds of stuff on the forrect.
- 16:15Speaker 2: And we don't know how much money you're coming from
- 16:17Speaker 2: the Feds at this point, because, as you know, California
- 16:21Speaker 2: is very much especially well it was across the California.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Los Angeles is definitely on the other side of the
- 16:28Speaker 2: political spectrum. Then the president does and there then the
- 16:31Speaker 2: president is and the President determines how much federal money
- 16:35Speaker 2: is going to be used for security. And as you
- 16:38Speaker 2: made as you pointed out, the organizing Committee, as has
- 16:42Speaker 2: been here, is not a public organization as it is
- 16:46Speaker 2: in other cities. It is privately run. It's just a
- 16:50Speaker 2: regular nonprofit. So they've got to come up with some
- 16:54Speaker 2: kind of money and they're they're cutting a deal.
- 16:55Speaker 6: You know, we do so we do so well with
- 16:57Speaker 6: nonprofit organizations and government here in Los Angeles.
- 17:01Speaker 4: We did great.
- 17:02Speaker 2: We did great in the nineteen eighty four Olympics. Peter Ubroth,
- 17:06Speaker 2: who was the chairman of the committee that made money money,
- 17:10Speaker 2: It made money. The only place in the world that
- 17:14Speaker 2: has made money is Los Angeles, of all the modern games,
- 17:17Speaker 2: and it did it twice.
- 17:18Speaker 3: You'd think that they could hire somebody who would know
- 17:20Speaker 3: how to do this.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Well, you've got you know what the problem is, Casey Wasserman.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I think is who is head of it now? I
- 17:27Speaker 2: think there he spent a lot of time with Epstein.
- 17:30Speaker 2: It is alleged, so maybe he was busy doing that.
- 17:35Speaker 2: It is alleged.
- 17:37Speaker 6: Well.
- 17:37Speaker 5: The girl version of the high and Tight returns, The
- 17:40Speaker 5: US Naval Academy says incoming female students for the class
- 17:44Speaker 5: of twenty thirty will have to cut their hair so
- 17:46Speaker 5: it does not go past their chin. That's a standard
- 17:50Speaker 5: the academy lived with until twenty nineteen, when it only
- 17:54Speaker 5: required students to follow Navy wide grooming standards for female recruits.
- 17:58Speaker 5: But the US Naval academ spokesperson said returning to a
- 18:02Speaker 5: short haircut for women on I Day aligns them once
- 18:06Speaker 5: again to a common standard that pleabes have maintained for generation.
- 18:11Speaker 2: And lesbian mid shipman coming in are asking, what's the
- 18:16Speaker 2: big deal here? No, they're not having short hair. And
- 18:21Speaker 2: then the other question I have is that hair does
- 18:26Speaker 2: not exceed their chin. What do you do with Armenian
- 18:29Speaker 2: women who have hair on their chin?
- 18:34Speaker 6: Anything more? Get it out of your system? Yeah, all right,
- 18:40Speaker 6: moving on. Good to be back, sir. So, as we
- 18:45Speaker 6: heard last week, he had the la A School superintendent,
- 18:51Speaker 6: Alberto Cavallo. He resigned right the Board of Education apparently
- 18:57Speaker 6: warned him and what was supposed to be confidential letter
- 19:01Speaker 6: I guess not now because we're talking about it, that
- 19:04Speaker 6: had potential grounds to dismiss him, citing several allegations, including
- 19:09Speaker 6: he allowed a district contractor currently under federal investigation, to
- 19:14Speaker 6: pay for his travel to Washington, d C. Among other things. Now,
- 19:17Speaker 6: of course, the spokesperson for carvall Oaks said that the
- 19:21Speaker 6: issues raised was offset by mitigating factors and that none
- 19:25Speaker 6: of the cited actions individually or collectively, spoken like a lawyer,
- 19:30Speaker 6: would have justified Carvallo's dismissal. But it looks like he
- 19:34Speaker 6: jumped anyways.
- 19:35Speaker 4: Well he had to.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I mean, there is no chance that he wasn't going
- 19:39Speaker 2: to resign because upon his reggnation he gets the severance package,
- 19:43Speaker 2: which I think was a year's salary in addition to
- 19:47Speaker 2: a pension, in addition to medical coverage for X number
- 19:50Speaker 2: of years, whatever deal he cut. Because the guys people
- 19:53Speaker 2: on this level, when they're negotiating contracts, negotiate pretty good contracts.
- 19:59Speaker 2: If he had been fired for cause, all of that disappears.
- 20:03Speaker 2: So of course he's going to resign. Who in the
- 20:05Speaker 2: right mind wouldn't.
- 20:09Speaker 5: Dad wants his boy back. Joel Rinderkanesh says federal officials
- 20:14Speaker 5: are treating his son as a scapegoat. Of course, the
- 20:19Speaker 5: jury in his Arson trial last week came back deadlocked.
- 20:24Speaker 5: The judge dissmissed the cave, basically declared a mistrial in
- 20:29Speaker 5: the case. And after that decision was handed down, Jonathan's
- 20:36Speaker 5: dad Joel said, they have no direct evidence, as you see,
- 20:39Speaker 5: because they couldn't convince anybody in the jury to convict.
- 20:42Speaker 5: So he says, it's like a big win, and it
- 20:45Speaker 5: feels unfair because the government is keeping his son in
- 20:50Speaker 5: jail where he will remain until he's retried in October.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Yeah, the statement DA he couldn't convince anybody to convict him.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Two people on the jury did vot to convict him,
- 21:00Speaker 2: so there's two. The problem is that nine of people
- 21:05Speaker 2: said no, not guilty. And the government now looks at
- 21:11Speaker 2: whenever there is a jury trial that is a mistrial,
- 21:14Speaker 2: they look at how many guilties and non guilties there are,
- 21:18Speaker 2: and usually it's pretty close and they go ahead and retry.
- 21:22Speaker 2: In this case, it wasn't even close. And either it's
- 21:26Speaker 2: one way or the other, where you're guaranteed a retrial
- 21:29Speaker 2: if the majority of said and guilty, but in the
- 21:31Speaker 2: other way, on the other side, the government goes, wait
- 21:33Speaker 2: a minute, you know, we've already basically lost ten to
- 21:37Speaker 2: nine to two, but it doesn't matter. This case is
- 21:40Speaker 2: so high profile, so insanely how high profile they're going
- 21:46Speaker 2: forward with their retrial, and no surprise that the judge
- 21:51Speaker 2: is keeping him in jail because it isn't hard for
- 21:55Speaker 2: a lawyer to argue this guy is a threat to
- 21:57Speaker 2: the community because he tends to tour. That's that's the allegation.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Of course, that's what he is being. That's what he
- 22:05Speaker 2: was rested for, tried for. So you know, I don't
- 22:07Speaker 2: know where anybody thinks that bail would have been allowed.
- 22:12Speaker 6: All right, perfect case of insult to injury man so
- 22:18Speaker 6: a World Cup twenty twenty six. Yay, everything's going on.
- 22:23Speaker 6: Uruguay federation reportedly canceled the chartered flight home. You know
- 22:28Speaker 6: a lot of these teams come, they have these chartered flights.
- 22:32Speaker 6: They're treated very well. Obviously they're athletes and they're you know,
- 22:37Speaker 6: representing their country. Well, you know, they didn't they didn't
- 22:42Speaker 6: do well on the field, and not only does that suck,
- 22:46Speaker 6: but now you've got their federation canceling their charter flight
- 22:51Speaker 6: that was set to take the players from their base
- 22:53Speaker 6: camp into Mexico and then back to their capital city. Well,
- 22:57Speaker 6: apparently the players will instead be left to take commercial
- 23:00Speaker 6: flights either home or vacations. Whatever they're doing with their family, whatever.
- 23:04Speaker 6: But what a kick in the old Nardaaruni's huh, like
- 23:08Speaker 6: you sucked, Now, get back on a plane and go coach.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah, but at least they're not killing the members of
- 23:16Speaker 2: the soccer team who lost amy the story. I don't
- 23:20Speaker 2: know how many years ago, and I think it could
- 23:21Speaker 2: have been Iran. It was Iraq, Iraq, that's right. Under
- 23:25Speaker 2: Saddam Hussein. H Yeah, they were going to kill the
- 23:30Speaker 2: members of the team upon their return. You don't lose
- 23:35Speaker 2: with Saddam Hussein. Then again, you have to keep in
- 23:38Speaker 2: mind that when he won the election for presidency over
- 23:41Speaker 2: and over again, he never got less than one hundred
- 23:43Speaker 2: and ten percent of the vote.
- 23:46Speaker 4: But I'm not kidding, by the way, I am not
- 23:48Speaker 4: killed coming in. Yeah, that's that is the that's the truth.
- 23:52Speaker 4: That that that's news we got.
- 23:54Speaker 6: That's where Los Angeles learned how to do it. Boats
- 24:00Speaker 6: under my bed woo.
- 24:02Speaker 5: When it comes to the World Cup, so Fi sucks
- 24:06Speaker 5: a news thanks An.
- 24:09Speaker 3: I don't agree with this. I think Sofi is wonderful.
- 24:11Speaker 5: But seed Pick, which is a ticket marketplace, ranked Sofi
- 24:15Speaker 5: Stadium the worst of the eleven US World Cup venues
- 24:20Speaker 5: for overall fan experience why because beer and bottled water
- 24:24Speaker 5: prices are really high. Beer's like fourteen bottled water seven bucks.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Hotel costs average three hundred and eighty three dollars a night,
- 24:32Speaker 5: average summer feels like temperatures were factored in and violent
- 24:36Speaker 5: crime rates were factored factored in along with mosquito activity.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Now, I had no idea mosquitos were part of the mix.
- 24:44Speaker 4: And you work there. I've been there for six years.
- 24:46Speaker 4: I've never been bit by a mosquito. I don't at all.
- 24:50Speaker 7: How does the cost of hotels make it a difference
- 24:54Speaker 7: to your experience at so FI?
- 24:57Speaker 3: It's the fan experience overall.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Yeah, overall, it's true, I'll tell you.
- 25:02Speaker 7: But then it should be the host city, Los Angeles,
- 25:04Speaker 7: not the actual stadium.
- 25:06Speaker 6: But if you've ever walked to SOFI, walked around the
- 25:08Speaker 6: campus is so far, it's breathtaking, it's beautiful, it's a
- 25:12Speaker 6: it's a gorgeous place, and it looks like it was
- 25:15Speaker 6: well thought out.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Yeah, no, except the parking is difficult because uh the
- 25:19Speaker 2: lack of space.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just you don't see much good parking.
- 25:24Speaker 2: And when you go to sofar as an employee, how
- 25:26Speaker 2: far do you have to walk.
- 25:28Speaker 4: From your parking space to the stadium. I pack a lunch.
- 25:33Speaker 3: She gets her steps in that day.
- 25:35Speaker 4: She kidding.
- 25:35Speaker 6: She drives down the street from her house, parks her
- 25:38Speaker 6: car there, and then walks.
- 25:39Speaker 7: But at least we can park on the premises. I
- 25:41Speaker 7: hear Dodger Stadium. You have to shuttle in from somewhere else.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Dodger Stadium was mid fifties though, that's feet is huge.
- 25:50Speaker 4: Yeah, anyway, all right, moving on. I can't hear you,
- 25:57Speaker 4: new Neil, can't hear you.
- 25:59Speaker 6: Sorry, it's the mic.
- 26:01Speaker 3: He's out of practice.
- 26:03Speaker 6: Yeah. I turned my mic off twice during the past
- 26:06Speaker 6: two FOK reports and didn't even know. They thought I
- 26:09Speaker 6: disconnected from the station. So handle's rubbing off on me,
- 26:13Speaker 6: all right? So, uh, just who do you want to
- 26:18Speaker 6: head ice? How about a former Oklahoma trooper? That sounds
- 26:23Speaker 6: just perfect, Well why not? Trump said Saturday that he's
- 26:28Speaker 6: nominating Lance Schroyer, former Oklahoma state trooper, to lead Immigration
- 26:34Speaker 6: and Customs Enforcement.
- 26:35Speaker 4: So, yeah, he was.
- 26:38Speaker 2: This is why he was the I think head of
- 26:41Speaker 2: security for the current Secretary of Homeland Security and a
- 26:48Speaker 2: Trump back alte of course, And I don't know why.
- 26:51Speaker 2: There are plenty of people that are trumpets that have
- 26:54Speaker 2: credentials that you can put in these positions of power,
- 26:58Speaker 2: and they're just not being put they are. It's just
- 27:03Speaker 2: the sycophants are being put there with low creds, and
- 27:07Speaker 2: it's just it's weird.
- 27:09Speaker 4: No, it's not, No, it's not. It's just the way
- 27:12Speaker 4: life goes today.
- 27:14Speaker 2: All right, big entertainment news.
- 27:17Speaker 5: Yeah, Comcast is spinning, spinning off. It's spinning off NBC Universal.
- 27:24Speaker 5: Also it's European Media arm Sky into a new publicly
- 27:29Speaker 5: traded company. The breakup will require regulatory approval. The announcement
- 27:34Speaker 5: this morning sent Comcast shares up more than twenty percent
- 27:38Speaker 5: in pre market trading.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Okay, they figure it's going to be dump. Sure, why not.
- 27:48Speaker 6: And lastly, Serena Williams is, along with other athletes and
- 27:53Speaker 6: tennis players, criticizing what is said to be unreasonable anti
- 27:57Speaker 6: doping protocols before her Wimbledon return. Of course, she's a
- 28:02Speaker 6: twenty three time Grand Slam champion, but her frustration is
- 28:07Speaker 6: not like, hey, I want to dope. It's that they
- 28:09Speaker 6: have what she refers to as grueling and changing rules,
- 28:14Speaker 6: and she says there's even new rules that she didn't
- 28:17Speaker 6: know about. I guess one of them is this test window.
- 28:21Speaker 6: This you got to be within this test window to
- 28:24Speaker 6: get tested, which makes sense, but you know, people have lives,
- 28:28Speaker 6: They've got to do other things. And she's saying, I
- 28:31Speaker 6: can't pick up my kids or I can't do this
- 28:33Speaker 6: because they'll throw a test period at you. And you
- 28:38Speaker 6: know you want to have a heart for these people.
- 28:40Speaker 6: But also when you're an athlete, I mean, it's like
- 28:42Speaker 6: anything else. If you at a restaurant, you're going to
- 28:43Speaker 6: have the health department pop in when they want to
- 28:46Speaker 6: pop in, and that's what keeps you on your toes.
- 28:49Speaker 2: But it's very different when you have, for example, if
- 28:52Speaker 2: you have a server person and say we can't tell
- 28:54Speaker 2: you what time your shift starts, but be prepared any
- 28:58Speaker 2: part of the day when I call when we call
- 29:00Speaker 2: you in.
- 29:01Speaker 4: That's the problem here. I get both sides.
- 29:02Speaker 6: The all point is they want to be able to
- 29:04Speaker 6: kind of get you on your heels so that people
- 29:07Speaker 6: aren't understanding patterns that they might be able to find it.
- 29:11Speaker 2: You're right to both sides, but the pendulum has swung
- 29:15Speaker 2: big time because that doping was a huge, huge issue
- 29:19Speaker 2: in professional sports. Also, she is involved with Roe right
- 29:25Speaker 2: the g LP one commercials that company. So I wonder
- 29:29Speaker 2: if and she takes GLP, So I'm wondering if that
- 29:32Speaker 2: shows up in the testing and whether it's allowed, it's exempt,
- 29:38Speaker 2: how would that.
- 29:38Speaker 6: Show up as enhancing.
- 29:41Speaker 2: It's not even a question of enhancing, Are you kidding?
- 29:43Speaker 2: There are drugs out there. Got for example, there are
- 29:46Speaker 2: cold remedies that do nothing to enhance your ability to play,
- 29:51Speaker 2: but they are banned. Oh it's they're crazy with the number. Yeah,
- 29:55Speaker 2: it's crazy. And we're also done, completely finished, okay.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Supreme Court.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Nothing like this we've seen before, except I'm going to
- 30:05Speaker 2: make an example where I'm going to give you an
- 30:07Speaker 2: analogy where I think something like this has happened and
- 30:11Speaker 2: what is this. Well, i'll tell you what this is
- 30:14Speaker 2: when we come back with this program. You've been listening
- 30:18Speaker 2: to The Bill Handle Show Catch My Show Monday through Friday,
- 30:21Speaker 2: six am to nine am, and anytime on demand on
- 30:25Speaker 2: the iHeartRadio app.
