- 0:10Speaker 2: It is time to leave your worries outside and laugh
- 0:14Speaker 2: with us inside the Treehouse. I'm Daniel Mallley along with
- 0:17Speaker 2: Trey Trenholm on today's show, I am going to introduce
- 0:22Speaker 2: you to President hot Tub. It's not a slam on
- 0:25Speaker 2: our current commander in chief in anyway. It's someone else
- 0:28Speaker 2: known as President hot Tub. But first we're going to
- 0:33Speaker 2: start with a very tragic story out of Los Angeles.
- 0:38Speaker 2: A man in LA died Friday night after cutting off
- 0:42Speaker 2: his own genitalia. That's according to TMZ. So I have
- 0:49Speaker 2: a number of thoughts on this, the first of which
- 0:52Speaker 2: is I and this is going to sound cruel, but
- 0:56Speaker 2: I hope this was an intended suicide and he wasn't
- 1:00Speaker 2: just trying to make some sort of a point.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Oh no, if you read on, he trying to cut
- 1:08Speaker 1: his own penis off. Then he slashed his throat or
- 1:11Speaker 1: I risked her throat, I don't remember which one, but no, no,
- 1:15Speaker 1: he he was going for it. I don't know why
- 1:21Speaker 1: in the course of offering yourself you think I am
- 1:25Speaker 1: going to cut my penis off first just because killing
- 1:32Speaker 1: myself isn't enough. I don't know, as someone who has
- 1:36Speaker 1: battled depression and in thoughts of suicide my whole life,
- 1:40Speaker 1: never ever, ever have I thought of making it prolonged or.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Doing it that way.
- 1:47Speaker 1: No.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Look, are you familiar with sepo ku? Yeah, that's the
- 1:54Speaker 2: traditional samurai execution where you cut yourself and then someone
- 1:59Speaker 2: else off your head. Okay, it's supposed to be very
- 2:02Speaker 2: honorable if you've been chained in some way, and that's
- 2:04Speaker 2: how you regain your honor. At least that's what I've
- 2:06Speaker 2: learned in all the samurai movies. I've seen no actual
- 2:09Speaker 2: cultural research on my part. Man, this is not how
- 2:13Speaker 2: you sepokoup you're supposed to. It's supposed to go across
- 2:17Speaker 2: your belly. Then your buddy chops off your head. You
- 2:20Speaker 2: don't chop off your junk, and then you do your
- 2:22Speaker 2: own net kind of a thing. That's really just yeah, okay,
- 2:28Speaker 2: it's gruesome, right anyway, it gets worse in a way.
- 2:36Speaker 2: So man in Los Angeles dies Friday after cutting off
- 2:39Speaker 2: his own junk. Los Angeles Police Department received a call
- 2:43Speaker 2: about a man harming himself in downtown Los Angeles around
- 2:46Speaker 2: three point forty in the morning. After arriving on the scene,
- 2:49Speaker 2: they set up a white tent to keep onlookers from
- 2:52Speaker 2: seeing the body, though a videographer at the scene captured
- 2:55Speaker 2: pools of blood standing in the sidewalk. I'm going to
- 2:57Speaker 2: repeat that, after arriving on the scene, they set up
- 3:00Speaker 2: a white tint to keep onlookers from seeing the body.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Don't ever let anyone tell you police officers don't have
- 3:08Speaker 2: a sense of humor because they let this man pitch
- 3:12Speaker 2: a tent one last time. I'm sorry, couldn't just put
- 3:22Speaker 2: a sheet over it? Nope, nope, you gotta go, you know, Hey, sorry,
- 3:26Speaker 2: you got an idea? Oh damn it. Anyway, law enforcement
- 3:31Speaker 2: sources tell TMZ the man cut off his wiener, sliced
- 3:34Speaker 2: his throat, and stabbed himself with a sharp instrument better
- 3:37Speaker 2: than a blunt one. I guess. We're told he also
- 3:40Speaker 2: tried to cut off his arm. Okay, he absolutely going crazy. Look,
- 3:43Speaker 2: mental health is a serious problem, and it's a serious
- 3:45Speaker 2: problem in this country, and we're not doing enough to
- 3:47Speaker 2: address it as a country. I don't think, but I'll
- 3:51Speaker 2: never understand why people go in the ways that they
- 3:54Speaker 2: sometimes do. Like even like the people that have set
- 3:57Speaker 2: themselves on fire in like suicide idle protest. It's like God,
- 4:01Speaker 2: it is just awful, And this may be one of
- 4:05Speaker 2: the worst ways I've heard to do this. And part
- 4:09Speaker 2: of the reason I sort of made a quasi joke
- 4:12Speaker 2: earlier about I hope he meant to kill himself. It
- 4:14Speaker 2: wasn't just trying to make a point, because I knew
- 4:16Speaker 2: someone that actually killed themselves and they thought they were
- 4:18Speaker 2: just trying to make a point. The problem is they
- 4:21Speaker 2: were doing it with a handgun, and they made the
- 4:23Speaker 2: point too good. That's why I think about that sometimes,
- 4:28Speaker 2: is people will do things and they didn't actually mean
- 4:31Speaker 2: to kill themselves, but they were just trying to make
- 4:33Speaker 2: some sort of a statement and they went a little
- 4:35Speaker 2: too far, or they underestimated their method.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Well, yes, there are always two things of people who
- 4:46Speaker 1: are trying to okay, i'll call it a cry for
- 4:49Speaker 1: help attention, and they don't really want to do it,
- 4:53Speaker 1: but they want it's a cry for help, and then
- 4:55Speaker 1: they obviously it goes too far. On on the flip side,
- 5:03Speaker 1: it's people who want to do it, but they don't
- 5:08Speaker 1: think about this one thing of are you doing it
- 5:13Speaker 1: in a method that if someone finds you that they
- 5:17Speaker 1: can't save you, because the worst thing possible if you
- 5:20Speaker 1: set yourself on fire, but then they before you're dead,
- 5:23Speaker 1: they put you out. Well, you have just you know,
- 5:27Speaker 1: made it yourself a lifetime of absolute horror.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yeah, you thought you had it bad before. Now imagine
- 5:35Speaker 2: your life as a burn victim. So you have all
- 5:37Speaker 2: the problems that you already had, you still got those,
- 5:41Speaker 2: and now you just piled on. That's a great point.
- 5:45Speaker 2: It's obviously we don't we don't encourage suicide or anything
- 5:50Speaker 2: like that, but I mean to think about it a
- 5:52Speaker 2: little bit like Trade just said. It reminds me like
- 5:56Speaker 2: the jumper in Lethal Weapon, the guy standing on the
- 5:59Speaker 2: ledge and Riggs goes up there. It's like, do you
- 6:01Speaker 2: want to jump? Do you want to then let's jump?
- 6:05Speaker 2: And you're right. I mean, that was very much a
- 6:06Speaker 2: cry for help, you know, with that guy. And then
- 6:10Speaker 2: you get one of the worst officers showing up to
- 6:12Speaker 2: lend a hand and he jumps off the building with you.
- 6:16Speaker 2: But that's sort of a similar thing. If you're having
- 6:18Speaker 2: that cry for help and you're standing on a ledge,
- 6:20Speaker 2: well do you really want to do it? Because if
- 6:23Speaker 2: you don't, what happens, if augusta wind happens, or a
- 6:26Speaker 2: bird flies by and hit you in the head and
- 6:28Speaker 2: you fall and you really didn't want to.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Eh.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah, just just think about some of these things before
- 6:34Speaker 2: you start, you know, doing them.
- 6:36Speaker 1: How tall is that ledge you're on, because if it's
- 6:42Speaker 1: not tall enough, you could just you know, have secured
- 6:46Speaker 1: yourself a bed and traction for six.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Months and you thought you were depressed before, Hugh, just
- 6:55Speaker 2: think about it, that is all I'm saying. Just think
- 6:58Speaker 2: one or two steps ahead, you.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Know, don't do it.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Get some help. Yeah, instead of going, instead of finding
- 7:07Speaker 2: a building and getting a tape measure, just call somebody.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Please.
- 7:10Speaker 2: We encourage that. We want you to do that. And
- 7:13Speaker 2: if you are feeling down in the dumps, I'm going
- 7:16Speaker 2: to tell you about President hot Tub to make you
- 7:18Speaker 2: feel better. The Bandido's motorcycle club president President hot Tub,
- 7:28Speaker 2: has been charged after three pounds of meth were found
- 7:31Speaker 2: in a raid in Lubbock. I learned two things about
- 7:35Speaker 2: this story from the headline. A there's a motorcycle club
- 7:39Speaker 2: called the Bandidos.
- 7:41Speaker 1: You didn't know that.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Well, I mean officially, and their president goes by the
- 7:48Speaker 2: name of hot Tub.
- 7:49Speaker 1: That there.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I have questions.
- 7:57Speaker 1: That, yes, yes, I have, I have. I mean, is
- 8:04Speaker 1: this the softer, gentler side of motorcycle gangs? Now?
- 8:07Speaker 2: I mean, is the name of the president also the initiation?
- 8:14Speaker 2: You gotta get in the tub if you want to
- 8:15Speaker 2: be a Bandido It just starts patting the water. Come
- 8:19Speaker 2: on in, I got met Bendido's chapter president, Stephen hot Tub. Ryles,
- 8:30Speaker 2: was federally charged on Monday for possession with intent to
- 8:33Speaker 2: distribute meth in Lubbock. Federal agents seized three point two
- 8:38Speaker 2: pounds of meth and distribution supplies during a February twenty
- 8:41Speaker 2: seventh raid of the club's clubhouse, which also served as
- 8:45Speaker 2: Ryle's home. Of course, it is because if you're the
- 8:48Speaker 2: chapter president of the Bandido's Motorcycle Club and your nickname's
- 8:52Speaker 2: hot Tub, you're absolutely right. Home base is your home
- 8:57Speaker 2: and all the chapter meetings happen in the hot Tub. Hope.
- 9:00Speaker 1: But is this guy, like the the the president of
- 9:04Speaker 1: the entire club or is it just the local Was
- 9:07Speaker 1: it just the local chapter because I have a luck Yeah? Sorry,
- 9:11Speaker 1: If he's the president of the entire Bandidos organization, why
- 9:15Speaker 1: are you living in Lubbock?
- 9:17Speaker 2: I mean bigger at least Amarillo.
- 9:24Speaker 1: No, I take LOVEOC over Amarillo because I mean you
- 9:26Speaker 1: still have Texas Tech and a bunch of hot girls there.
- 9:28Speaker 1: But uh, get out of West Texas. I mean, here's
- 9:37Speaker 1: this is bad when Oklahoma City is a better option.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you're not wrong about that. Uh, this story
- 9:46Speaker 2: reinforces it. They keep calling him the chapter president, so
- 9:49Speaker 2: I don't I think he's just the local chapter of Lubbock.
- 9:53Speaker 2: I can't wait to see I can't wait to see
- 9:55Speaker 2: this new series from from Tyler Sheridan Lubbock King.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Uh, it's just every episode begins and ends when a
- 10:09Speaker 2: hot tub.
- 10:10Speaker 1: All right now, Yeah, if he's the look, if he's
- 10:11Speaker 1: the the chapter president of the Lubbock chapter, hot Tub
- 10:16Speaker 1: seems like a fitting name, you know, trying to you're
- 10:19Speaker 1: trying to go younger. You're enticing some college students. Yeah,
- 10:23Speaker 1: come on in the water's fine.
- 10:24Speaker 2: M Yeah. Yeah. Seventy four year old Stephen Glenn Ryles
- 10:30Speaker 2: of Lubbock, also known as Hot Tub, charged by federal
- 10:34Speaker 2: complaint on March second with possession with intent to distribute methmfetamine. Yeah,
- 10:40Speaker 2: Chapter president of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club President, Hot Tub.
- 10:44Speaker 2: But you know what I wonder if this is a
- 10:46Speaker 2: you know, is this normal in the Bandidos to have
- 10:50Speaker 2: interesting nicknames? I mean like it's like this guy's just
- 10:54Speaker 2: the chapter president. Is the overall president of the Bandidos?
- 10:58Speaker 2: Like President's Room or is it President Glory Hall?
- 11:06Speaker 1: Huh?
- 11:08Speaker 2: I'm just spitballing here. I mean because usually if you're
- 11:13Speaker 2: if you're a part of a drug organization, a cartel
- 11:17Speaker 2: or something, usually I would expect your nickname to be
- 11:19Speaker 2: something intimidating. Hot tub just sounds inviting.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Well, you know, typically it's like, you know, you feel
- 11:26Speaker 1: like you've earned the nickname. I mean, you know, sledgehammer
- 11:30Speaker 1: or hacksaw or a killer. But what exactly did you
- 11:35Speaker 1: do to get hot tub? You know?
- 11:39Speaker 2: I mean there again, we have questions and not a
- 11:43Speaker 2: lot of answers. This is another great example of journalism
- 11:45Speaker 2: failing us, because we need to know how did he
- 11:48Speaker 2: get that nickname? Why is he called hot tub? Did
- 11:51Speaker 2: he drop a hot tub on somebody who didn't pay up? Okay?
- 11:55Speaker 2: Or is he just really into hot and wet stuff?
- 11:58Speaker 2: I don't.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Is this vice president time machine?
- 12:03Speaker 2: God? I hope?
- 12:04Speaker 1: So?
- 12:10Speaker 2: I love that movie.

- 14:34Speaker 2: or cookdfw dot com. Trey, remind me here in a
- 14:38Speaker 2: little bit, I want to bring hot tub time machine
- 14:41Speaker 2: back up. But first, uh, we don't typically cover a
- 14:45Speaker 2: lot of sad stories in here, but this one, I
- 14:49Speaker 2: just I just felt the need to do it for
- 14:54Speaker 2: a couple of reasons. Sheriff the Basonhound was shot killed
- 15:00Speaker 2: in his fenced yard in Alvaredo. Four year old Basst
- 15:06Speaker 2: hound named Sheriff was shot three times and killed in
- 15:09Speaker 2: his fenced yard in Alvaredo's Stonegate man Or neighborhood. Police
- 15:14Speaker 2: and local family are seeking information and on this horrible
- 15:21Speaker 2: crime that happened on February twenty fifth, and it happened
- 15:25Speaker 2: between eleven am and four forty five pm. Investigators are
- 15:30Speaker 2: currently searching for a suspect and a motive family is
- 15:33Speaker 2: offering a fifteen hundred dollars reward for any information that
- 15:36Speaker 2: leads to an arrest in the case. They also said
- 15:43Speaker 2: that there was another dog in the yard with Sheriff
- 15:46Speaker 2: the Basst Hound that was left unharmed physically, but is
- 15:49Speaker 2: nonetheless traumatized by the event. So it's yeah, it's a
- 15:55Speaker 2: horrible story. It's sad, and I don't want to bring
- 15:57Speaker 2: everybody down, but this is a very stark reminder to me.
- 16:06Speaker 2: This is why I don't leave my animals outside unattended
- 16:11Speaker 2: because I just don't trust people enough. I have heard
- 16:14Speaker 2: stories about this just enough in my life that I
- 16:18Speaker 2: don't trust leaving my my my babies outside unattended like this.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I mean, they had no idea what had happened. I
- 16:27Speaker 2: think they were gone for the day. I mean, you're
- 16:28Speaker 2: talking about a five hour window where they had no
- 16:31Speaker 2: idea what happened, and they by the time they got
- 16:33Speaker 2: home dog was already dead. I just I can't do it.
- 16:39Speaker 2: And this is why, because I hear enough stories about
- 16:42Speaker 2: people snatching people's dogs from their yard for god knows
- 16:48Speaker 2: what reason. I try not to think about, and they
- 16:50Speaker 2: never see him again, or like in this case, it's killed.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I just I can't. It's I just I can't do it.
- 16:58Speaker 2: I don't trust people enough. And this is also a
- 17:00Speaker 2: reason why I have security cameras everywhere in my home.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Outside my home, I want to see stuff, and if
- 17:08Speaker 2: you don't, you should get them.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I mean I would be looking at the neighbors m M,
- 17:16Speaker 1: especially having once had a basset hound. I they bark NonStop,
- 17:28Speaker 1: and it's one of those things you have got to
- 17:30Speaker 1: be cognizant of what's your dog doing. If you're leaving
- 17:33Speaker 1: them outside when you're gone, and I to like, I mean,
- 17:37Speaker 1: it's just a tragic story. And I'm with you. I mean, Jesus,
- 17:40Speaker 1: I didn't leave Daisy outside. I was always afraid of
- 17:43Speaker 1: hawk was gonna come down and just swiper away.
- 17:46Speaker 2: And that's legitimate because she's she was a tiny, tiny thing.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I mean you're talking three pounds easy hawk food. So yeah, like,
- 17:52Speaker 2: like what was it? Was it a Geico commercial where
- 17:55Speaker 2: it showed up like a like a hawk or an
- 17:57Speaker 2: eagle or something picking up someone's dog. That legitimately frightened
- 18:01Speaker 2: me for you, and for days ago, I was like,
- 18:03Speaker 2: that's that's Tray's reality. He's got to be careful when
- 18:05Speaker 2: he takes her outside.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Oh there's no I mean I've seen a couple of videos. Yeah, no,
- 18:10Speaker 1: they that was always absolutely just uh because especially where
- 18:18Speaker 1: I once lived, I witnessed a hawk come down and
- 18:21Speaker 1: get a pigeon, and I'm like, my pigeons about days
- 18:24Speaker 1: no uh uh.
- 18:27Speaker 2: It sounds to me like when you when you got
- 18:30Speaker 2: to be armed and you take your uh you take
- 18:32Speaker 2: the dog out. And also in the area that this happened,
- 18:36Speaker 2: I'm not familiar with that specific neighborhood of Alvaredo. But
- 18:39Speaker 2: Alvaredo is parts uh you know, rural, you know, and
- 18:45Speaker 2: parts kind of city. It's been a while since I've
- 18:46Speaker 2: been there. I don't think it's changed that much.
- 18:48Speaker 1: It's oh, it's grown so dramatically. I don't know.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I mean, I know it. I know it has subdivisions
- 18:56Speaker 2: and things like that, and that's what this kind of
- 18:58Speaker 2: sounds like where it happened. But it's still country enough
- 19:02Speaker 2: because look, so many parts of DFW have wild animals, cougars, bobcats, coyotes,
- 19:09Speaker 2: which is another reason why I don't let my pets
- 19:12Speaker 2: stay outside completely unattended, because I don't know what's gonna happen. No,
- 19:19Speaker 2: especially people are one thing, and other other animals are
- 19:22Speaker 2: are something as.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Well well, especially where I mean the last bar I
- 19:29Speaker 1: ran Parliament, which is in the heart of Uptown, concrete Jungle.
- 19:34Speaker 1: There were multiple nights I walked out, you know, at
- 19:36Speaker 1: three in the morning, and there are coyotes, coyotes in
- 19:40Speaker 1: the streets in Uptown. In Uptown there you go, because
- 19:45Speaker 1: you know, with everything that's developed, you now you have
- 19:50Speaker 1: man and animal, uh, you know, cohabitating on a smaller
- 19:55Speaker 1: piece of property, and so yeah, you never know where
- 19:56Speaker 1: these animals are gonna come and all the I mean, hell,
- 19:59Speaker 1: you see videos all time about new invaders, you know,
- 20:03Speaker 1: whether it bobcats, coyotes, whatever. Yeah, I mean, my heart
- 20:08Speaker 1: breaks these people and that is just And but you
- 20:11Speaker 1: also when you're in the country, you see people do
- 20:17Speaker 1: some awful stuff to animals. Whether it's just simply I hope,
- 20:23Speaker 1: I hope this has lessened. But back in the day,
- 20:25Speaker 1: it was very common where people would just you would
- 20:28Speaker 1: see them throw a sack out of a vehicle on
- 20:31Speaker 1: the side of the road and it's filled with kittens
- 20:34Speaker 1: or puppies.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, very You're right, it's very that sort of
- 20:40Speaker 2: thing is very common, or at least it used to be,
- 20:43Speaker 2: like you said, in the country. I'm only going to
- 20:45Speaker 2: share this story because as a positive outcome. There was
- 20:48Speaker 2: a story last year. A couple of years ago, someone
- 20:52Speaker 2: had taken a cat and put it in a closed
- 20:57Speaker 2: suitcase and dumped it somewhere in I think it was
- 21:01Speaker 2: like Irving or in some sort of like an industrial
- 21:05Speaker 2: area somewhere in the mid Cities. I think the cat
- 21:08Speaker 2: was fine, but it was in that suitcase for like
- 21:11Speaker 2: two three days and they had video of the person
- 21:14Speaker 2: like throwing the suitcase out. To this, I mean the
- 21:19Speaker 2: fact that someone found that suitcase and the cat was
- 21:22Speaker 2: still alive and meow, we can trying to claw through it.
- 21:24Speaker 2: They open it up and there's a cat in there.
- 21:27Speaker 2: It's nothing short of a miracle that that cat survived
- 21:32Speaker 2: and a passerby happened to come by and see it.
- 21:34Speaker 2: So people do awful things to animals, and I hope
- 21:38Speaker 2: something awful happens to the person that did this. But again,
- 21:42Speaker 2: this is why I don't leave my animals unattendant, And
- 21:44Speaker 2: this is why I have cameras around my house because
- 21:47Speaker 2: if something happens, I want to see who did it
- 21:50Speaker 2: so I can go in them. Because I'll tell you
- 21:56Speaker 2: right now, I'm not entirely sure if this happened to me.
- 22:00Speaker 2: If I came home and found my Bella dead shot. Uh,
- 22:07Speaker 2: And that happens where I live too, by the way,
- 22:10Speaker 2: because there's lots of stray dogs around and people and
- 22:12Speaker 2: they'll talk about it there to shoot this dog. If
- 22:15Speaker 2: someone shot my Bella, I'll have video of it. I
- 22:20Speaker 2: may not necessarily contact the police directly if I have
- 22:26Speaker 2: any inkling of who you are or where you are.
- 22:29Speaker 2: I don't really see a reason to involve them. That's
- 22:33Speaker 2: as much as I'm going to say.
- 22:36Speaker 1: And I'm I am with you.
- 22:41Speaker 2: I don't mind going to prison for that, No, I will.
- 22:45Speaker 2: I will be fine.
- 22:46Speaker 1: I wouldn't mind helping you.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, Trey, you feel like a little vacation. Uh.
- 22:54Speaker 2: But yeah, it's that that That's how I feel on
- 22:56Speaker 2: the topic. So there you have it. Another word, that's
- 22:59Speaker 2: just another reason for me. I guess the main reason
- 23:01Speaker 2: I wanted to bring this up on the show not
- 23:03Speaker 2: to be a downer, but in reality to try to
- 23:06Speaker 2: get something positive out of it, is please invest in
- 23:09Speaker 2: a couple of cameras for the exterior of your home
- 23:13Speaker 2: and the interior. It doesn't have to be a ton
- 23:15Speaker 2: of them. They're not even that expensive anymore. The Ring
- 23:17Speaker 2: cameras are great. Get them please, because if whatever happens
- 23:23Speaker 2: in or around your house, it'd be nice to have
- 23:26Speaker 2: the evidence that you could hand over to the authorities
- 23:28Speaker 2: or to me and Trey's Assassins Club to do something
- 23:31Speaker 2: about it.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Well, and especially now that Ring has the whole program
- 23:37Speaker 1: where you know your your cameras can help find lost
- 23:42Speaker 1: lost pets.
- 23:43Speaker 2: That's right, you told me about that with that Super
- 23:45Speaker 2: Bowl ad they ran this year.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's brilliant of basically they haven't you know,
- 23:50Speaker 1: if you sign up for it, if there's a lost
- 23:53Speaker 1: or missing pet in your area, it will I'm guessing.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I'm guessing using AI, it scans through your camera footage
- 24:00Speaker 1: and if it sees, you know, a matching animal, it'll
- 24:03Speaker 1: alert people. And Yeah, what a brilliant way to use
- 24:07Speaker 1: the technology.
- 24:10Speaker 2: That's the big Brother I want, Yeah, big Brother made
- 24:13Speaker 2: to death. I want to find my dog, and if
- 24:16Speaker 2: someone else's dog, I want them to find it too.
- 24:19Speaker 2: And that actually reminds me because I used to do
- 24:21Speaker 2: the spots for DFW Security and they used to say,
- 24:23Speaker 2: you know, in these things I had and I had
- 24:25Speaker 2: their cameras, they had the AI technology that would discern
- 24:29Speaker 2: person from animal. I can't remember because it's been a while,
- 24:33Speaker 2: I can't remember if they could tell the difference between
- 24:35Speaker 2: say like a mountain lion and you know, a coyote,
- 24:39Speaker 2: but it would be like person animal whatever. But that
- 24:43Speaker 2: reminded me of like you were saying, there were coyotes
- 24:46Speaker 2: in Uptown right when we lived in Carrollton, our neighbor
- 24:51Speaker 2: across the street. Our neighbors across the street, Car and
- 24:53Speaker 2: Susan wonderful people, and car was Marine. Okay. One night,
- 25:00Speaker 2: he hears something on the roof of their house. And
- 25:02Speaker 2: they also have two children. At this time they were
- 25:04Speaker 2: much younger, so they had two small children. Cars Marine.
- 25:09Speaker 2: He hears something on the roof, He does what most
- 25:12Speaker 2: Marines do. He goes and gets his firearm, and then
- 25:16Speaker 2: he goes hunting. He gets the exterior of the home
- 25:20Speaker 2: and he goes around the back strategically to where he
- 25:24Speaker 2: feels like it would be sort of from behind whatever
- 25:27Speaker 2: is up there. Found he finds a mountain lion. Shortly
- 25:31Speaker 2: after seeing the mountain lion, he sees two mountain lion cubs.
- 25:36Speaker 2: So the noise that was happening was the mountain lion
- 25:41Speaker 2: pawing at the skylight in their living room. Yeah, he
- 25:49Speaker 2: didn't shoot him because no one was in danger at
- 25:55Speaker 2: that point and he realized there wasn't an intruder or anything,
- 25:58Speaker 2: so he didn't have to, you know, just anybody. But
- 26:01Speaker 2: I think he contacted the city and maybe they set
- 26:03Speaker 2: traps or something. But that's that's another great example of
- 26:07Speaker 2: you don't know what's outside just because you think your
- 26:10Speaker 2: animal is safe in the yard doesn't mean they necessarily are.
- 26:13Speaker 2: There are mountain lions out there, and they're hungry, they're bobcats,
- 26:16Speaker 2: and they're coyotes and all these things, and not every
- 26:19Speaker 2: house has has a marine in it. Yeah, I asked him.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Though I asked him, I said, car were you were
- 26:28Speaker 2: you a little disappointed it wasn't a person And he
- 26:30Speaker 2: looked around and he's like, yeah, I guess he didn't
- 26:37Speaker 2: get enough action in Desert Store. You're listening to the Treehouse.

- 28:00Speaker 2: he's Dan Trey. You mentioned a hot Tub time Machine
- 28:03Speaker 2: earlier and real quick. One of our new features on
- 28:07Speaker 2: our Patreon is the Treehouse Reviews. We just had our
- 28:10Speaker 2: first episode last week where we went back and reviewed
- 28:13Speaker 2: Revenge of the Nerds from nineteen eighty four, and we
- 28:16Speaker 2: had a lot of fun doing it, And on our
- 28:19Speaker 2: Treehouse Plus episode that we just released this week, we're
- 28:23Speaker 2: now taking suggestions for the next one, and there's tons
- 28:29Speaker 2: that we want to go back and review. So if
- 28:32Speaker 2: you wanted to join, watch that Revenge of the Nerds episode.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Suggest others to us. Hot Tub time Machine, though I
- 28:41Speaker 2: don't know if that's old enough yet for us to
- 28:43Speaker 2: need to go back and review, and honestly, I'm pretty
- 28:49Speaker 2: sure that's gonna hold up. I have seen that movie,
- 28:51Speaker 2: I believe three times, and now I know I have
- 28:53Speaker 2: not seen it in many years. But when I try
- 29:00Speaker 2: to think about a movie that was so surprising, I
- 29:03Speaker 2: don't know if I can think of a movie that
- 29:06Speaker 2: was a bigger surprise than Hot Tub Time Machine. It
- 29:10Speaker 2: was really really good and not good in my sense
- 29:14Speaker 2: where like it's so bad it's good. I mean, it's
- 29:16Speaker 2: actually a legitimately good movie with an idiotic title. But
- 29:22Speaker 2: it made sense and it fit and I love that
- 29:24Speaker 2: movie for my weird.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I don't know. I've never seen it all the way through.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Do you hate it? No? And why haven't you finished it?
- 29:34Speaker 2: You need to know the end to get so touching.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Like it's just I've caught bits and pieces of it.
- 29:40Speaker 1: I've never sat down and watched it, So I'll put
- 29:42Speaker 1: that on my list of do things.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Dude, watch the Hot Tub Time Machine.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I just watched. I just watched the Equalizer movies.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I just got chills. I love those movies.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Oh my god, I love those movies.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Congratulations Tray for having seen the equal Oh my god.
- 30:04Speaker 2: But we got to talk. I mean, don't get me wrong,
- 30:07Speaker 2: I want to talk about the Taco Bell fifty K
- 30:09Speaker 2: and we will. But I really this needs to be celebrated. Trey,
- 30:13Speaker 2: you have finally reached manhood having seen the Equalizer movies
- 30:16Speaker 2: starring Denzel Washington.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Yeah, love Denzel that they were great movies.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Turns out there's more than one use for a shot glass.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean you talk about creative ways to kill people,
- 30:30Speaker 1: you know, a plus on that. Yeah, yeah, as it
- 30:35Speaker 1: happened one. So I still and this is this is
- 30:42Speaker 1: my age, Like I still have direct TV. I like
- 30:48Speaker 1: having I like thumbing through channels. It's just I like
- 30:53Speaker 1: hitting the guide and just seeing what's on. The number
- 30:56Speaker 1: of times I will sit down, I'll watch something thing
- 31:00Speaker 1: with the commercials that I could go on another platform
- 31:03Speaker 1: and watch without.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Just the cable guide. Was the original doom scrolling? Yeah,
- 31:12Speaker 2: just and you know what, when you get to when
- 31:14Speaker 2: you get to the music channels, you speed through those
- 31:16Speaker 2: and start back up channel two at the beginning and
- 31:18Speaker 2: go through it again because maybe in the last four
- 31:21Speaker 2: minutes something new has slid in there that will catch
- 31:24Speaker 2: your eye and that's what you want to watch. It
- 31:26Speaker 2: really was the original doom scrolling.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Yeah. So I watched Uh happen to catch that one?
- 31:31Speaker 1: And then Uh, Brandy was here and she had seen
- 31:36Speaker 1: the first one. She's like, no, it's really good. And
- 31:37Speaker 1: then you know it's like, all right, well, then we'll
- 31:39Speaker 1: watch the second one, and then night later it was
- 31:41Speaker 1: just the third one.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Did you did you fall into a an Equalizer marathon
- 31:46Speaker 2: on one of the channels or did you just watch
- 31:48Speaker 2: the first one because it was on and then you
- 31:49Speaker 2: went to a streaming deal?
- 31:51Speaker 1: So first one was on, then then it was a
- 31:53Speaker 1: marathon because then the second one was coming on, and
- 31:56Speaker 1: then Brandy's like, hey, why don't we you see if
- 31:59Speaker 1: we find it without commercials.
- 32:01Speaker 2: It's like, okay, uh, I love you, baby, Yes, let's
- 32:06Speaker 2: let's let's watch Denzel Washington kill everyone for like eight hours.
- 32:10Speaker 2: That sounds great.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Yeah? First two great? Third good? Not. Yeah. They they
- 32:23Speaker 1: could have done more. They could, they could. That's one
- 32:25Speaker 1: of the few movies I'll say it could have been
- 32:27Speaker 1: thirty minutes longer and they could have gone into some
- 32:29Speaker 1: more character development and I would have enjoyed it. Uh,
- 32:32Speaker 1: but it was still good.
- 32:35Speaker 2: That I still remember in that first uh, the first
- 32:39Speaker 2: time when you see him unleashed in the first equalizer,
- 32:43Speaker 2: just like, god damn Denzel. Very gratifying. Yeah, and then
- 32:49Speaker 2: when he sits down with that one, dude, as he's
- 32:52Speaker 2: bleeding out and he's like, you got about sixty seconds.
- 32:55Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you all the all the ways that
- 32:57Speaker 2: you could have lived, but you're gonna die. I'm gonna
- 32:58Speaker 2: talk you through great movies. Okay, So, Hot Tub Time
- 33:06Speaker 2: Machine is probably the most surprised I've ever been from
- 33:10Speaker 2: a movie. My expectations were extremely low, and obviously it's surpassing.
- 33:19Speaker 2: But part of our Treehouse reviews. I'm curious if you've
- 33:22Speaker 2: ever seen the movie Ski Patrol. This is a movie
- 33:26Speaker 2: I've seen a few times, and I don't think i've
- 33:29Speaker 2: seen it this century, but I remember certain parts of
- 33:32Speaker 2: it very well. It's very much a B comedy kind
- 33:35Speaker 2: of a thing. Do you remember Summer School with Mark Harmon?
- 33:39Speaker 1: Yes?
- 33:40Speaker 2: Do you remember the guys who wanted to be the
- 33:43Speaker 2: horror filmmakers? One of those guys is one of the
- 33:48Speaker 2: is also in Ski Patrol. It's a I'm sure it's
- 33:53Speaker 2: a bad movie, and it's another one of those that
- 33:55Speaker 2: I like that is just silly. But if you haven't,
- 33:59Speaker 2: I need defined it to rewatch it myself. I'm just
- 34:02Speaker 2: curious to know if anyone else has seen it, and
- 34:04Speaker 2: if so, if they like it as much as I
- 34:06Speaker 2: remember liking it.
- 34:07Speaker 1: I'm I am ninety percent sure I saw that back
- 34:14Speaker 1: in the day. Uh, but yeah, I would have to
- 34:21Speaker 1: go back and take a look at and but yeah,
- 34:28Speaker 1: that'd be worth a watch. Summer school. God, that would
- 34:32Speaker 1: be interesting.
- 34:34Speaker 2: That's actually a good one too. See. There's so many
- 34:35Speaker 2: great options for Treehouse reviews. So if you want to
- 34:37Speaker 2: get in on the Treehouse Reviews party, join Treehouse Plus today,
- 34:40Speaker 2: Patreon dot com, slash Treehouse on Air. There was another
- 34:44Speaker 2: one that was like a like a snow border type movie.
- 34:49Speaker 2: I'm trying to remember the name of it. It was
- 34:51Speaker 2: with Zach Galifanakis. I think it was might have been
- 34:54Speaker 2: one of his first movies. And I think that's the
- 34:57Speaker 2: one where he got his he got his junk caught
- 34:59Speaker 2: in a hot a jet. Oh, I can't remember the
- 35:05Speaker 2: name of it. I'll think of it later. I'll look
- 35:06Speaker 2: it up. That was a good one too. Anyway, I've
- 35:09Speaker 2: seen too many movies and I've shared too much. The
- 35:11Speaker 2: Taco Bell fifty k Oh Boy one second. The Taco
- 35:20Speaker 2: Bell fifty k is back for some reason. It's a
- 35:26Speaker 2: fast food ultra marathon and you can run it in November.
- 35:31Speaker 2: The Taco Bell fifty K, the novelty ultra marathon, whose
- 35:35Speaker 2: participants run thirty one point oh seven miles while eating
- 35:39Speaker 2: at least nine Taco Bell menu items, will be back
- 35:42Speaker 2: in twenty twenty six. Why because apparently people really liked it.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Last fall, the race drew around five hundred runners, four
- 35:50Speaker 2: hundred and twenty nine of whom finished. One finisher was
- 35:54Speaker 2: nine years old. I want to know what happened to
- 35:59Speaker 2: the people that didn't finish, and why did the Taco
- 36:02Speaker 2: Bell get to them? You know? This year the race
- 36:06Speaker 2: will be held on November twenty seventh, the day after Thanksgiving.
- 36:10Speaker 2: The website urges anyone who is interested in trying out
- 36:13Speaker 2: something really stupid to sign up. Props to Taco Bell
- 36:16Speaker 2: for leaning into that, by the way, and they promise
- 36:19Speaker 2: survivors earn eternal glory and maybe heartburn. Completing the Taco
- 36:24Speaker 2: Bell fifty k takes between four and eleven hours, which
- 36:28Speaker 2: includes stops at nine Taco Bell locations across DC and Virginia.
- 36:34Speaker 2: By the fourth stop, runners must have eaten at least
- 36:37Speaker 2: one crunch Wrap Supreme or Chaloupa Supreme. By the eighth
- 36:42Speaker 2: runners must have also eaten a Nacho's bel grande or
- 36:46Speaker 2: a burrito supreme. Pepto bismal is banned. Reports of nausea
- 36:50Speaker 2: are about.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Oh so they they pick there are required. I was
- 36:58Speaker 1: and it said he had a nine menu item. I
- 37:00Speaker 1: was like, okay, uh, you know, if you're running a race,
- 37:06Speaker 1: you get a soft taco you could you know, it's
- 37:10Speaker 1: carbs and energy. But all right, if you're talking about
- 37:14Speaker 1: burrito supremes.
- 37:15Speaker 2: And crunch traps, man, that's serious menu items right there.
- 37:20Speaker 2: A local endurance athlete, Mike Wardion said it's back and
- 37:24Speaker 2: maybe bigger than ever. He's one of the events organizers.
- 37:27Speaker 2: He called last year's race a roving party and said
- 37:30Speaker 2: he loved the community, particularly the number of first time
- 37:34Speaker 2: ultra marathoners for whom this was an on ramp to
- 37:36Speaker 2: the sport. Co organizer Phil Hargus texted that despite the
- 37:40Speaker 2: taco bell fifty k being a terrible idea, this year's
- 37:45Speaker 2: race will be a pinata of fun and deliciousness. There's
- 37:51Speaker 2: also a charity component. Last year had benefited the DC
- 37:55Speaker 2: Chapter of Achilles International. Not sure who it's benefiting this year,
- 37:59Speaker 2: but at least they got a charity tie in there.
- 38:03Speaker 2: So if you're gonna have the runners sports. At least
- 38:05Speaker 2: it'll be for a good cause.
- 38:08Speaker 1: I mean, and the sponsorship ideas seem endless, I mean,
- 38:12Speaker 1: especially for charity. Depends stands out.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, I don't. I think that would be
- 38:21Speaker 2: a required underneath your shorts there.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean I I've run a ten k, I
- 38:33Speaker 1: never a marathon, just absolutely. I I don't really like
- 38:38Speaker 1: driving twenty six miles, much less running.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Spoken like a true middle aged demand that's outside my bubble.
- 38:46Speaker 2: I'm not driving it. I'm sure as hell not gonna
- 38:48Speaker 2: run it.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Well even I mean even before, I mean, if I
- 38:51Speaker 1: had two good knees, I just know, an ultra marathon
- 38:55Speaker 1: sounds just positively dreadful.
- 39:00Speaker 2: It's important to remember that the first guy that ever
- 39:04Speaker 2: ran the marathon died. I'm going to let his sacrifice
- 39:10Speaker 2: be my lesson learned, which is I'm not gonna do that.
- 39:16Speaker 1: But it is amazing the world we live in because
- 39:22Speaker 1: a food that was once really most associated with either
- 39:27Speaker 1: being drunk or high is now sponsoring a LTI marathon.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Go figure. At least they do call it a terrible idea,
- 39:36Speaker 2: but they do it anyway. And and and also, I mean,
- 39:40Speaker 2: look at it this way. If you're in the middle
- 39:41Speaker 2: of a really long book, that.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Could be their new slogan. We're a terrible idea, but
- 39:47Speaker 1: do it anyway.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Yeah, i'd still I'm lining up h truth and advertising.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Yeah we're a terrible idea the next morning, but at
- 40:07Speaker 1: the moment.
