Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're ahead of the game just for being here.
- 0:03Speaker 2: He s marks amone on sevent tenor.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Wow, beautiful sunny day to day and tomorrow we'll talk
- 0:17Speaker 3: about the Knicks. We'll get to Elon Musk, we'll get
- 0:20Speaker 3: to a Platner and a whole lot more. You know,
- 0:24Speaker 3: this is going to be a parade, a big parade.
- 0:26Speaker 3: It looks like it'll be Thursday morning.
- 0:28Speaker 4: We're gonna be sure some additional details over the next
- 0:30Speaker 4: few days, but it is going to be on Thursday.
- 0:32Speaker 4: There's going to be a ceremony at City Hall. Then
- 0:34Speaker 4: there's going to be a ticker tape parade the first
- 0:37Speaker 4: time in Knick's history, and we're also going to be
- 0:39Speaker 4: presenting keys to the city to the team.
- 0:41Speaker 3: It's the Canyon of Heroes. They always say, down the
- 0:43Speaker 3: Canyon Heroes. That actually goes up. It heads uptown. It
- 0:47Speaker 3: starts at the bottom and heads up to City Hall.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Do you know that the Knicks, each player will get
- 0:53Speaker 3: a bonus for winning the championship. You know how much
- 0:56Speaker 3: the bonus is? Seven hundred and seventy thousand. Each player
- 1:01Speaker 3: gets almost a million dollars three quarters of a million
- 1:05Speaker 3: dollars as a bonus. President Trump described the next championship
- 1:10Speaker 3: run as maybe the greatest of all time. Sent them
- 1:14Speaker 3: a great message. Now, of course you had some mayhem afterwards.
- 1:19Speaker 3: In the Times Square area forty second Street down to
- 1:22Speaker 3: Grand Central, sixty three people arrested, four stabbings, one shooting.
- 1:28Speaker 3: But this was a pleasure compared to Chicago on a
- 1:32Speaker 3: typical Saturday night. Ten members of the NYPD were injured,
- 1:38Speaker 3: including one officer hit by a glass bottle. Was pretty
- 1:41Speaker 3: ugly stuff. Now. Setting buses on fire over turning buses
- 1:46Speaker 3: that kind of sleep were buses that were being used
- 1:49Speaker 3: to transport World Cup soccer fans to MetLife Stadium. So
- 1:53Speaker 3: you know, we got surveillance video over every inch of
- 1:55Speaker 3: the street, and if you look at the video, you
- 1:58Speaker 3: can clearly see the faces of the idiots doing this.
- 2:01Speaker 3: So hopefully they will all be tracked down and arrested.
- 2:05Speaker 3: One bus was completely torched after these maniacs lit pieces
- 2:09Speaker 3: of clothing on fire and tossed it inside. Again, hopefully
- 2:13Speaker 3: they'll find and track down every single one of them. Yesterday,
- 2:18Speaker 3: the UFC fight last night at the White House, I'm
- 2:21Speaker 3: looking people that were there posting video, Spectacular staging production,
- 2:27Speaker 3: really really amazing, night and it went on for hours. Now,
- 2:32Speaker 3: this is very upsetting to democrats and liberals. They never
- 2:35Speaker 3: heard of UFC fighting. They don't know what it is,
- 2:38Speaker 3: you know, especially the media types. They all live in
- 2:41Speaker 3: the middle of Manhattan. They live in the middle of
- 2:43Speaker 3: d C, the middle of Beverly Hills. They've never been
- 2:46Speaker 3: to actual America. They don't know what a wah wah is. Seriously,
- 2:52Speaker 3: they don't never heard of it. They don't know what
- 2:54Speaker 3: the olive garden is. They've never been to one. They've
- 2:57Speaker 3: never heard of it. Had no idea about normal America.
- 3:01Speaker 3: They've heard of NASCAR, they don't know that anybody actually
- 3:04Speaker 3: watches it. They don't imagine anybody actually goes to it.
- 3:09Speaker 3: It's actually the number one spectator sport in America, NASCAR,
- 3:13Speaker 3: but they don't They don't know about any of this stuff.
- 3:15Speaker 3: So they certainly don't know anything about UFC fighting. They've
- 3:19Speaker 3: never heard about it, and they thought this was disgusting.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Look at this PBS. You know, they have a PBS
- 3:26Speaker 3: News hour. You want to see some slanted you want
- 3:30Speaker 3: to see some biased, slanted news one night, put on
- 3:33Speaker 3: that PBS News Hour. It's on every night. So on Friday, Night,
- 3:37Speaker 3: and they only have like the most left wing kooks.
- 3:40Speaker 3: If they have anybody they call a republican, it's always
- 3:42Speaker 3: like a New York Times republican, which means a left winger.
- 3:47Speaker 3: It means it's a very biased left winger, says David Brooks,
- 3:51Speaker 3: the real left wing New York Times columnist. Actually now
- 3:54Speaker 3: he works for The Atlantic, which is the most biased
- 3:58Speaker 3: left wing publication on earth. And then from MS now
- 4:02Speaker 3: Jonathan k Part by the way, two very nice guys,
- 4:05Speaker 3: but the most slanted left wing guys. So that's who
- 4:09Speaker 3: they have on and they're denouncing UFC fighting and they
- 4:13Speaker 3: said it chose the cultural decline. It's unconscionable. Now, all
- 4:19Speaker 3: these people denouncing it. When Biden had that that trans
- 4:24Speaker 3: those topless tranny people dancing all over the White House topless,
- 4:29Speaker 3: and remember they painted the south of southern part of
- 4:32Speaker 3: the White House. They painted it red, white and blue,
- 4:34Speaker 3: and they painted the column. It was disgusting what they
- 4:38Speaker 3: did to the White House. And these trans people, topless
- 4:42Speaker 3: trans women or I guess there were women, I don't know,
- 4:45Speaker 3: but topless dancing with Biden all over the White House lawn.
- 4:49Speaker 3: I mean, you couldn't found anything more unpresidential than this
- 4:53Speaker 3: whole thing. But you know, it's all these same people.
- 4:56Speaker 3: David Brooks, Jonathan k part never mentioned it, never did it, never,
- 5:00Speaker 3: never denounce it. But they said, this is the cultural
- 5:04Speaker 3: decline of America. They said John F. Kennedy brought Robert Frost,
- 5:09Speaker 3: Jerome Robbins, Leonard Bernstein to the White House. He also
- 5:14Speaker 3: brought Judith Exnerry. He brought the Marilyn Monroe into the
- 5:17Speaker 3: back door. Remember Pixie and Dixie, the two hookers he
- 5:19Speaker 3: had on staff who would swim with him in the pool.
- 5:24Speaker 3: And now we have cage fighting. Don't say America's don't
- 5:28Speaker 3: anybody say America's not in cultural decline. Well, but again
- 5:33Speaker 3: they're unaware of what goes on in America. They don't know.
- 5:36Speaker 3: UFC fighting is a very, very, very big deal in America.
- 5:39Speaker 3: I'm not a fan of it though, I'm not a
- 5:42Speaker 3: big boxing fan, but that looks a little more, a
- 5:45Speaker 3: little more dignified, a little more elegant. But they're barely
- 5:49Speaker 3: wearing gloves. They're punching each other in the head, and
- 5:52Speaker 3: they're kicking each other in the stomach. To me, it's
- 5:56Speaker 3: not the greatest sport. But what do I know. So
- 5:58Speaker 3: On Friday, Elon mush becomes the first trillionaire in the
- 6:02Speaker 3: history of the world, the first trillionaire ever. It was
- 6:07Speaker 3: an amazing feat, especially for a guy that came to
- 6:10Speaker 3: America with nothing, an immigrant, an African American immigrant, comes
- 6:15Speaker 3: here and becomes the first trillionaire. How much is a
- 6:18Speaker 3: trillion dollars? Well, think about it this way. One million
- 6:23Speaker 3: seconds ago, it was June first, a billion seconds ago.
- 6:32Speaker 3: It was nineteen ninety four, a trillion seconds ago, it
- 6:37Speaker 3: was thirty thousand BC. So with a net worth of
- 6:42Speaker 3: over a trillion dollars, Musk hast more money than one
- 6:47Speaker 3: hundred and ninety seven countries than the domestic product of
- 6:50Speaker 3: one hundred ninety seven countries. There's only twenty one nations
- 6:53Speaker 3: on Earth richer than Elon Musk. Musk could also think
- 6:57Speaker 3: about this. He could purchase every single franchise in the NFL,
- 7:04Speaker 3: Major League Baseball, NHL, and NBA, and ten of the
- 7:09Speaker 3: world's most valuable soccer teams and still have four hundred
- 7:13Speaker 3: billion left a trillionaire, it's a hell of a lot
- 7:18Speaker 3: of money. But Democrats went nuts. Jimmy Kimmel in absolute rage,
- 7:27Speaker 3: foaming at the mouth on TV Friday, yelling and screaming
- 7:32Speaker 3: and lying. Of course, I don't think he's lying. I
- 7:33Speaker 3: think he's just stupid. I just think he doesn't know.
- 7:35Speaker 3: A lot of these people just repeat things they hear
- 7:37Speaker 3: on the left wing media. So he's yelling and screaming
- 7:40Speaker 3: about how Elon Musk paid no taxes, came here and
- 7:44Speaker 3: did nothing but take from this country. All he did
- 7:47Speaker 3: was take. This, of course, is a total lie. Nobody
- 7:50Speaker 3: in the history of America or probably the world, ever
- 7:54Speaker 3: paid more taxes than Elon Musk. He pays billions and billions.
- 7:58Speaker 3: He's the single biggest tax pair in history. Now, Tesla
- 8:02Speaker 3: might not pay tax but Tesla, believe it or not,
- 8:04Speaker 3: doesn't make a profit. You know when they said Amazon,
- 8:08Speaker 3: why didn't pay any taxes? The first ten years of Amazon?
- 8:10Speaker 3: Why is it paying taxes? Because it's losing like one
- 8:12Speaker 3: hundred billion a year. The reason they're losing they keep
- 8:15Speaker 3: pumping the money back into the company. They don't take
- 8:18Speaker 3: any of it. They just pump it back into research development.
- 8:21Speaker 3: But Kimmel fuming, Bernie Sanders yelling this, there's a call
- 8:26Speaker 3: to action, a call to action. Just have to stop
- 8:30Speaker 3: people from being successful now, remember when Elon put that
- 8:34Speaker 3: stock out, he becomes a trillionaire. But forty five hundred
- 8:40Speaker 3: of his employees became millionaires. Forty five hundred, four hundred
- 8:44Speaker 3: of them now worth over one hundred million. And when
- 8:47Speaker 3: I say employees, forty four hundred became millionaires. If you
- 8:52Speaker 3: look at the list, some of them are, you know, plumbers, electricians.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Here's one guy, Trevor Heath. He was gonna take a
- 9:00Speaker 3: job at General Electric, but apparently his parents convinced him
- 9:05Speaker 3: to go with Oh no, his parents wanted him to
- 9:07Speaker 3: go to a General Electric. He wanted to go to SpaceX.
- 9:10Speaker 3: His parents said General Electric, it's more stable, go there,
- 9:13Speaker 3: but he didn't listen. He went to SpaceX, stayed there
- 9:17Speaker 3: twelve years, which gave him over one hundred thousand shares.
- 9:21Speaker 3: They pay a lot of the employees, all these employees
- 9:24Speaker 3: in stock among salary. They also give him stock. So
- 9:28Speaker 3: at one hundred thousand a share, he's now worth seventeen
- 9:32Speaker 3: million dollars in his thirties, seventeen million. He's now semi retired.
- 9:38Speaker 3: This happened to a lot of guys. There's a plumber
- 9:41Speaker 3: there who all of a sudden ended up with ten
- 9:43Speaker 3: million from his stock. But they were just going crazy. Bernie.
- 9:48Speaker 3: It's a call to action, AOC. Elon Musk is not
- 9:53Speaker 3: a scientist, he's not an engineer. He's a billionaire con
- 9:56Speaker 3: man with a lot of money. None of this is true.
- 9:58Speaker 3: This is actually insane. This to talk. Paul Krugman. You
- 10:02Speaker 3: remember that bug eyed, weird looking with the crazy eyes,
- 10:06Speaker 3: that New York Times economist who was always wrong about everything.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Anytime he predicted a collapse, the stock market would boom.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Anytime he predicted a boom that would collapse, always wrong
- 10:16Speaker 3: every time. Paul Krugman said, the shows it's a rig
- 10:20Speaker 3: system that Elon Musk would become a trillionaire. He called
- 10:26Speaker 3: SpaceX a Ponzi scheme. This is insane. CNN and ms
- 10:32Speaker 3: now pundits called Musk a white supremacist. Actually one of
- 10:39Speaker 3: them was on with Scott Jennings yelling that Musk is
- 10:43Speaker 3: a white supremacist. So Jennings said, you might want to
- 10:47Speaker 3: hire a lawyer right now. You might need a lawyer
- 10:50Speaker 3: for that comment. But he's a guy who came to
- 10:55Speaker 3: America with nothing, just a backpack. He and his brother
- 11:00Speaker 3: started a little company called Zip two. I don't know
- 11:02Speaker 3: what the hell did. But four years later he sold
- 11:06Speaker 3: Zip two for three hundred million dollars. I mean, the
- 11:09Speaker 3: guy's a genius. He's a genius. A little young, little
- 11:13Speaker 3: guy sells his company for three hundred million. Then he
- 11:16Speaker 3: started a company. He co founded a company called PayPal.
- 11:21Speaker 3: PayPal revolutionized digital payments. He later sold PayPal to eBay
- 11:26Speaker 3: for one point five billion. Took all that money and
- 11:30Speaker 3: bet everything on Tesla and SpaceX. Now the guys had
- 11:34Speaker 3: a bunch of failures. You know, you gotta remember every great,
- 11:37Speaker 3: great success, Steve Jobs, everybody, every great company's had massive failures.
- 11:42Speaker 3: That's how you learn, That's how you do stuff. You know,
- 11:45Speaker 3: you do one hundred things, five to ten of them
- 11:48Speaker 3: absolute failures. Same thing with Trump. Guys had I think
- 11:52Speaker 3: it's one hundred and seventy two companies. You know, each
- 11:55Speaker 3: project's a separate company. Four of them went bankrupt. Was
- 11:58Speaker 3: it was all Atlantic City, which is a very low
- 12:01Speaker 3: record for bankruptcy. Most companies. Apples had more bankruptcies Google.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Google had one of the biggest bankruptcies in history. Remember
- 12:08Speaker 3: the Google glasses. That was like a twelve billion dollar
- 12:11Speaker 3: loss right there, that one thing. But Musk was an
- 12:16Speaker 3: incredible worker. He worked insane hours. He slept on factory floors,
- 12:20Speaker 3: office floors. He was constantly told everything he was doing
- 12:25Speaker 3: was impossible. But he not only changed the world, he
- 12:28Speaker 3: saved lives. He invented unbelievable stuff. Whatever that thing he
- 12:34Speaker 3: invented for people that are paralyzed, so they can do stuff,
- 12:38Speaker 3: change their lives. Starlink has saved lives all over the world.
- 12:42Speaker 3: That's used in war zones. Ukraine used it to survive.
- 12:46Speaker 3: It's used all over the place. But Democrats hate this guy.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Here's Liz Warren. You see it's up on her Actually
- 12:53Speaker 3: you can go to my Twitter. You can see it.
- 12:56Speaker 3: It's Liz Warren calling a Musk a free denouncing him.
- 13:03Speaker 3: But she's recording it in the back of her limo
- 13:05Speaker 3: while the chauffeur is driving. If you're on my Twitter,
- 13:09Speaker 3: also look at that video for getting off her private jet.
- 13:13Speaker 3: We know how Elon Musk made all this money. As
- 13:16Speaker 3: we said earlier, how did Elizabeth Warren become a multi millionaire.
- 13:21Speaker 3: She's a multimillionaire on a government salary. Could she explain that?
- 13:28Speaker 3: I remember, Musk is the biggest single taxpayer in history
- 13:31Speaker 3: and her salary every cent of it forever paid for
- 13:35Speaker 3: by taxpayers. As Musk said, if you could die from irony,
- 13:40Speaker 3: she'd be dead already. So unbelievable. Now, Democrats, we'll back anybody, anybody.
- 13:51Speaker 3: They don't care who it is. They're not about character
- 13:53Speaker 3: or any of that. The backing Graham Platner, who's got
- 13:58Speaker 3: a giant Nazi tattoo in the middle of his chest. Uh,
- 14:02Speaker 3: he's got an incredible track record of terrible behavior with women,
- 14:08Speaker 3: cheating on everybody, sexting and texting with all kinds of women. Uh.
- 14:12Speaker 3: The only Democrat who'll be honest is Fatterman.
- 14:15Speaker 5: This is a guy that's been dropping picks on Kick
- 14:17Speaker 5: for a decade. You know, and now you're you know,
- 14:20Speaker 5: you're a journalist. You all know what Kick is for,
- 14:23Speaker 5: and you know they have six significant problems about being,
- 14:26Speaker 5: you know, the predator's predator's playground for there. You know,
- 14:30Speaker 5: why can't someone perhaps you ask him why did you
- 14:33Speaker 5: choose Kick of all the different apps?
- 14:35Speaker 3: Yeah, apparently it's a app where you meet very young women.
- 14:39Speaker 3: But Democrats don't care. Now listen to Hakim Jeffries, not
- 14:42Speaker 3: the brightest guy in the world, but uh, they ask him, Well,
- 14:47Speaker 3: he'll support Platner. He was a little evasive.
- 14:50Speaker 6: Does Graham Platner have the character to be a US Senator?
- 14:53Speaker 2: Leader?
- 14:53Speaker 7: Jeffries, Well, first of all, I thought you were going
- 14:56Speaker 7: to say, the big news of the week is the
- 14:58Speaker 7: Knicks winning the NBA champions You're going to get to
- 15:01Speaker 7: that first time in fifty three years.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Yeah, But he kept ducking the question. This morning, he
- 15:07Speaker 3: appears on Good Day in New York wearing a Nick's
- 15:10Speaker 3: hat and a T shirt and that cheap plant, pandering,
- 15:16Speaker 3: hustling politician. Hey, when we come back. Oh, by the way,
- 15:21Speaker 3: Scott Shannon will be with us a little later this hour,
- 15:23Speaker 3: the Great Scott Shannon. We'll talk to him about the
- 15:25Speaker 3: Knicks and other stuff coming up. But we'll take some calls. Next.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. Is the
- 15:33Speaker 3: number eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 15:37Speaker 2: You're listening to Mark the show.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Well, let's take some calls. Eight hundred three two one
- 15:47Speaker 3: zero seven ten is the number eight hundred three two
- 15:51Speaker 3: one zero seven ten. Let's go to Phil in Suffolk County, Phil,
- 15:56Speaker 3: how you doing?
- 15:58Speaker 6: Hello? Mark Antony jury, the black boy that was convicted
- 16:05Speaker 6: of murder had three non white jurors a black perspective, jura.
- 16:11Speaker 3: I think you're a little too concerned about the black
- 16:13Speaker 3: and white.
- 16:14Speaker 6: What is all the well, yes, I know, Well that's
- 16:16Speaker 6: the race hustlers, a concern that there were no there
- 16:19Speaker 6: were no blacks on the jury. There was a black
- 16:21Speaker 6: perspective juror who said, I could never send a brother
- 16:25Speaker 6: to jail. So what do these race hustlers want? Do
- 16:29Speaker 6: they want jury nullification for someone who white?
- 16:35Speaker 3: What are you talking about? I mean, everybody goes into
- 16:38Speaker 3: court has a lawyer. The lawyer picks the jury. His
- 16:41Speaker 3: defense lawyer decided, you know you can, you can pick
- 16:44Speaker 3: people and reject people from the jury.
- 16:47Speaker 6: Of course, Mark, I'm not complaining in Suffolk County. What
- 16:52Speaker 6: excuse me?
- 16:52Speaker 3: Where are you in Suffolk County?
- 16:54Speaker 6: Oh? Noort, New York?
- 16:56Speaker 3: Northport? All right, that airs a little thin there, I
- 17:00Speaker 3: think it's right now. Northport's very beautiful. Northport is beautiful.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Don't try to park there because there's not parking spaces anywhere,
- 17:09Speaker 3: but it's very beautiful. Let's go to Mike in Florida. Mike,
- 17:15Speaker 3: how you doing?
- 17:18Speaker 2: Wait a minute, early, there you are.
- 17:21Speaker 1: We got, yes, Mike, your earlier mention and it got me.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Oh wait, call it, call it, call us right back.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Your line is all missed. It's not your fault. Call
- 17:33Speaker 3: us right back. Uh here he sounds like sped up,
- 17:37Speaker 3: like a chipmunk. I don't know what exactly that is. See,
- 17:40Speaker 3: we don't have actual phones anymore. There's no actual I mean,
- 17:44Speaker 3: here's what this looks like a telephone, but everything in
- 17:48Speaker 3: it is digital and our phone calls are actually running
- 17:52Speaker 3: through an Amazon cloud. I have no idea how this works.
- 17:57Speaker 3: And as you can hear, it doesn't always work. But
- 18:00Speaker 3: uh so you get sometimes this weird distortion, and then
- 18:04Speaker 3: sometimes it just speeds up people. I don't know why
- 18:06Speaker 3: it doesn't. Oh, we got Mike back. Let's try it again. Mike.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Are you there? Hi?
- 18:12Speaker 2: Mark?
- 18:12Speaker 3: Oh good, Now you sound like yourself much better?
- 18:15Speaker 1: Okay, good like I don't sound like an alien planet.
- 18:18Speaker 3: X you sound like a chipmunk.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Yes, exactly.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Where's Dave Sevilla and I need them?
- 18:24Speaker 3: There you go.
- 18:28Speaker 1: So one of year earlier, Colas mentioned Cats is up
- 18:30Speaker 1: in Connecticut. He does went opened up in Connecticut and
- 18:32Speaker 1: it got me homesick before the cats is down on
- 18:35Speaker 1: Cats is delicatessen.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Okay, but wait a minute, he's implying the real kats
- 18:41Speaker 3: is Delhi from Manhattan open to Connecticut. I don't think
- 18:45Speaker 3: that's the case. There's something called cats Yeah. I didn't
- 18:47Speaker 3: think so either.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Yeah, although I heard they'd taken their they're going on
- 18:52Speaker 1: a road show and they're going somewhere like Milwaukee or
- 18:55Speaker 1: someplace still. Yeah, like some booth convention or something.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Yeah, it's food convention. But Katsus is merely doing a
- 19:02Speaker 3: pop up, you know where They opened for a day
- 19:04Speaker 3: or two.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Oh, yes, But it got me homesick for them, and
- 19:09Speaker 1: I was wondering if you had a favorite I used
- 19:11Speaker 1: to go when I worked at Channel eleven. I would
- 19:13Speaker 1: go over to Sarges once in a while. They were okay,
- 19:16Speaker 1: it wasn't katz Is. The certainly wasn't kats as the Drawmi,
- 19:19Speaker 1: but do you have a particular one that you love.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Sarges is very good, and out of all the legendary delis,
- 19:25Speaker 3: it's the only one that's still there. It's on the
- 19:27Speaker 3: third app was it third and thirty four thirty sixth Yes,
- 19:31Speaker 3: and they still have the sandwich. It's like a foot high.
- 19:34Speaker 3: The greatest of all, of course, was the Carnegie Delli
- 19:36Speaker 3: in its heyday because it was not an incredible deli,
- 19:40Speaker 3: but late at night that's where everybody would gather, all
- 19:42Speaker 3: the comedians, everybody, and I'd sit there with him for hours.
- 19:47Speaker 3: The great whoever was in town, appearing wherever, would show
- 19:50Speaker 3: up at the Carnegie Delly around eleven or twelve at night.
- 19:53Speaker 3: If you go back and watch the Woody Allen movie
- 19:55Speaker 3: Broadway Danny Rose, they show that in the movie.
- 19:59Speaker 1: But I remember being in the Congi one day and
- 20:02Speaker 1: it was a table of Japanese tourists and they ordered
- 20:04Speaker 1: one of the like the you know, the biggest sandwich
- 20:07Speaker 1: they came. They would they went crazy. It was the
- 20:09Speaker 1: most exciting thing to watch them go completely nuts over
- 20:12Speaker 1: the sandwich at the Carnegie.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Yeah no, And people say, why in the Carnegie or
- 20:19Speaker 3: a Sarges or any why do they make the sandwich
- 20:21Speaker 3: a foot high? Why did they put so much in?
- 20:23Speaker 3: Nobody could eat that? And Leo, the great owner of
- 20:27Speaker 3: the Carnegie, explained to me one day, you can charge
- 20:29Speaker 3: like double or triple. Nobody can complain because you're giving
- 20:32Speaker 3: them their money's worth because they can't eat it.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Does exactly sawmy sandwich last time I was at Cats
- 20:41Speaker 1: and that eight years ago, ten years ago, it was
- 20:43Speaker 1: like twenty bucks or something. Twenty four bucks was Strami sandwich.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Yeah, we cats just doesn't make it ridiculously big. But
- 20:48Speaker 3: the Carnegie even sarges it's really big. But it's like
- 20:51Speaker 3: they could charge it for two sandwiches even though you're
- 20:53Speaker 3: only eating one. But a great point, Mike, You wait
- 20:57Speaker 3: a minute, we lost them. Sorry about that. Let's go
- 21:00Speaker 3: to Richard and Bayshore. Richard, how you doing very well?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark. This is democrats can tell us telling
- 21:07Speaker 2: us they're going to pack the court and then the filibuster.
- 21:10Speaker 2: If we get a nice majority in both houses, why
- 21:12Speaker 2: don't we pack the court?
- 21:14Speaker 3: They're gonna do it anyway. Yeah, you know, we don't
- 21:16Speaker 3: do stuff like that. I say. We Republicans don't do stuff. Yeah,
- 21:21Speaker 3: Republicans don't do stuff like you remember, for many of
- 21:25Speaker 3: these Republicans, they're like country club types. It's just government,
- 21:29Speaker 3: you know. For Democrats, it's like warfare. This is like
- 21:32Speaker 3: their religion. This is like twenty four to seven they'll
- 21:35Speaker 3: do and that's why they'll do anything crazy. It's like
- 21:37Speaker 3: a crusade for them. Traditionally, Republicans are kind of like
- 21:41Speaker 3: you know, like the bushes. They'll show for a few
- 21:44Speaker 3: hours during the day, then it's back to the bar again.
- 21:48Speaker 3: And most Republicans are more private sector oriented. They don't
- 21:53Speaker 3: worry about transforming. But Democrats government is their whole life. Hey,
- 21:57Speaker 3: when we come back the legend, the greatest living radio
- 22:02Speaker 3: DJ ever Scott Shannon, we'll talk to him about the
- 22:05Speaker 3: Nicks and all sorts of stuff coming up next on
- 22:08Speaker 3: seven to ten WR. Welcome back to the Mark Simone Show.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Live from the WR Life Back studios.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Well, we now turn to the Joe DiMaggio Radio the
- 22:22Speaker 3: greatest Living DJ, the legend himself him laughing. All right,
- 22:28Speaker 3: nobody's laughing. Scott Shannon, you are the greatest living news.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it just sounds crazy. I'm living. I got that,
- 22:37Speaker 2: that's true. I got that going.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:40Speaker 2: What a week.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Huh Yeah, So it's too much, too many things going
- 22:45Speaker 3: on in New York. But you know I was empty.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah, go ahead.
- 22:49Speaker 3: I was never a basketball fan. I don't think I've
- 22:51Speaker 3: ever watched a basketball game in my life, but I
- 22:53Speaker 3: got hooked on the Knicks. I'm watching every minute of
- 22:55Speaker 3: the game.
- 22:58Speaker 2: You're a little late getting on the train, I guess. Yeah.
- 23:03Speaker 2: The train left the station and you're hanging on the kaboos.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I'm sure I'm not the only one who wasn't really
- 23:11Speaker 3: a best.
- 23:12Speaker 2: There there were. There were plenty of new fans, believe me.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Fifty three years went to eleven presidents, the internet, smartphones, COVID,
- 23:23Speaker 2: and finally the Knicks are on top of Cain.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Do you know the last time they won to last
- 23:30Speaker 3: time they won the championship, the number one record was
- 23:32Speaker 3: tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree.
- 23:35Speaker 2: That's correct, that it's correct. You know, it's kind of
- 23:39Speaker 2: weird too, because, uh, it's the wedding season right now,
- 23:44Speaker 2: and every Saturday all around the country there are weddings planned.
- 23:51Speaker 2: When people and all the fans, you know, all the
- 23:56Speaker 2: Knicks fans, when it came time to wait a minute,
- 24:00Speaker 2: we got to go to that wedding. Holy crap, and
- 24:04Speaker 2: uh we we were Trivisa and I were like that.
- 24:07Speaker 2: So a friend of ours, one of the marraw boys, Steve,
- 24:12Speaker 2: and his wonderful wife Nancy. They've got six kids, good Catholics,
- 24:18Speaker 2: and they're five of them are girls. So he spent
- 24:22Speaker 2: a lot of money on weddings. This was his last one.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Cassidy is their name and and it was at the
- 24:28Speaker 2: Sat Saint Regil's ballroom. You have been in that hotel?
- 24:32Speaker 3: Yes, there block away.
- 24:36Speaker 2: So I'm sitting, I'm thinking, what the hell am I
- 24:39Speaker 2: going to do that? And I called the bar. There's
- 24:43Speaker 2: a little I got a nice bar there the King
- 24:46Speaker 2: this cold Yeah, so I called. I said, you guys
- 24:50Speaker 2: are going any TV's ready to go for the game
- 24:52Speaker 2: that goes So we don't have televisions in the King
- 24:57Speaker 2: cold bar. Thank you for calling.
- 25:01Speaker 3: So wait, wait it's it's twenty twenty six. You can
- 25:05Speaker 3: watch on your phone.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, but that looks a little rude, I wanted.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:11Speaker 2: So when I got there, I saw Steve and I said,
- 25:16Speaker 2: they're going to be offensive. If I got my father,
- 25:18Speaker 2: he said, you're not gonna have to worry about that, man,
- 25:21Speaker 2: I got you taken care of. He had made arrangements
- 25:24Speaker 2: that have two big screen TVs, put one on eat,
- 25:29Speaker 2: one on each side of the bar for the up
- 25:31Speaker 2: in the ballroom.
- 25:33Speaker 3: So excellent.
- 25:34Speaker 2: I looked at her. But the problem. There was one
- 25:36Speaker 2: other problem though, they had where I didn't go to
- 25:38Speaker 2: the postgame party. Uh, they have those alleys, they have
- 25:42Speaker 2: these extra parties, but there were a lot of people
- 25:45Speaker 2: from different places around the country that came in for
- 25:49Speaker 2: for the groom, Max and Cassidy really both of the
- 25:53Speaker 2: school and all that. But the problem and a lot
- 25:57Speaker 2: of these people were they had to go to the
- 25:59Speaker 2: postgame party and then they had to go to their hotel.
- 26:04Speaker 2: But the problem is if you recall what was going
- 26:07Speaker 2: on in the street, in the streets of New York,
- 26:11Speaker 2: these poor people. Couple from Minnesota, Were you gonna be
- 26:15Speaker 2: all right? I said, Well, if you don't mind seeing
- 26:18Speaker 2: school buses go up and play it, you don't have
- 26:20Speaker 2: a good time.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Well, and uh, hey, what about that the World Cup
- 26:25Speaker 3: FIFA that I can't get into. I can't watch that.
- 26:28Speaker 2: I got nothing on that.
- 26:30Speaker 3: But I don't know. It's like Paraguay versus Uruguay. What
- 26:34Speaker 3: am I supposed to root for?
- 26:36Speaker 2: What are you? Are you going to attend the parade?
- 26:41Speaker 2: Are you going to be you know you're gonna be
- 26:43Speaker 2: on the air.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Luckily I'll be on the air. No, i'd never been
- 26:46Speaker 3: to the Canyon of Heroes. You've probably been in one
- 26:48Speaker 3: of those parades.
- 26:50Speaker 2: No, I never have. I've seen them. I'm watching them
- 26:52Speaker 2: on TV. But it's it's gonna be. They say it's
- 26:55Speaker 2: going to be the biggest ticker taby parade her.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what, you think, There's actually no such
- 27:04Speaker 3: thing as ticker tape anymore. They don't have stock tickets,
- 27:06Speaker 3: so they have to buy this fake ticker tape and
- 27:08Speaker 3: throw it. But it's now metallic and the glitters. It
- 27:11Speaker 3: looks much better.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Now. Do you ever look back, You ever look back
- 27:14Speaker 2: at all the different events that were covered. I mean
- 27:18Speaker 2: that goes way back a long time ago. Yeah, you know,
- 27:23Speaker 2: I wanted to mention something else too, and this has
- 27:26Speaker 2: kind of got, I don't know, swept under the rug.
- 27:30Speaker 8: The Songwriters Hall of Fame was what last Thursday at
- 27:37Speaker 8: Marriott Marquis and our pal Taylor Swift became the youngest
- 27:43Speaker 8: woman to ever get inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean it's usually Gershwin Cole Porter like people
- 27:51Speaker 3: like that are in there. But yeah, And the first
- 27:55Speaker 3: time you met Taylor Swift.
- 27:58Speaker 2: She had a country song out called Tim McGraw and
- 28:04Speaker 2: I was working at p LJ and her father and
- 28:09Speaker 2: the local record a local record rep called me at
- 28:16Speaker 2: the at at p LJ and said, would you mind
- 28:19Speaker 2: if we have a new artist. Can we just bring
- 28:21Speaker 2: her by it? And I'm you know, I'm presser that
- 28:23Speaker 2: I know Scott Channon, I know the guy that's on
- 28:27Speaker 2: the air in New York. And I said, yeah, yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 2: I don't have to put her on the air, do we?
- 28:33Speaker 2: And uh, I swear to god. The dad came in
- 28:37Speaker 2: really nice guys, she was sweet and they were in
- 28:40Speaker 2: the control room and uh, and just sit and they're talking.
- 28:44Speaker 2: I said, well, did you bring a record? Just I
- 28:47Speaker 2: can hear what you sound like? Oh yeah, I got it.
- 28:50Speaker 2: My dad's got it. So I played it in cute
- 28:54Speaker 2: not on the air. I said, that's that's pretty good.
- 28:58Speaker 2: That's nice. And so she left the room to make
- 29:01Speaker 2: a call or something, and I asked her, is it
- 29:04Speaker 2: okay to play this if I want to on the air? Oh?
- 29:07Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. So we we played it one time. She
- 29:12Speaker 2: came running back down the hall. You know that's on
- 29:15Speaker 2: the air. My that's my songs? Did you mean to
- 29:20Speaker 2: play it? So she gave me a pigu and uh,
- 29:24Speaker 2: that's how that's how I gots because nobody, no top
- 29:28Speaker 2: forty stations were playing that song and it was just
- 29:31Speaker 2: it was just fun.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Another you launched.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Wow, Well I was not she would have made it
- 29:38Speaker 2: without me. I don't worry about that.
- 29:40Speaker 4: You know.
- 29:41Speaker 2: You know what's so funny is her You ever know
- 29:44Speaker 2: she shows up at all the big events. Yeah, she
- 29:49Speaker 2: she I don't think she was a fan of the
- 29:53Speaker 2: next before. I never heard that. And then she had
- 29:56Speaker 2: her posse you see that old thing had that they
- 30:00Speaker 2: it had the T shirts.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Well, she's a brilliant marketer. I knows where to go,
- 30:06Speaker 3: where to show up at just the right moments.
- 30:09Speaker 2: She had the T shirts that said Stevie Nicks, Like, okay,
- 30:13Speaker 2: you know, And I don't know how she got to
- 30:17Speaker 2: be she's I don't know, she's with the LA and
- 30:22Speaker 2: the Law and Order girl. Now, yeah, they're buddies now,
- 30:28Speaker 2: you know. Yeah, you know do you funny thing about
- 30:31Speaker 2: you know how that got started? Taylor named her cat
- 30:39Speaker 2: after her character on Law and Order. Yeah, that's the deal.
- 30:46Speaker 2: That's her name on TV. And uh and that's the
- 30:50Speaker 2: name of her cat. And Olivia Benson.
- 30:53Speaker 3: I think if I get a cat, I could name
- 30:55Speaker 3: it Lenny Briscoe after the Jerry or back.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, that'd be right. And and you think about it. Second,
- 31:04Speaker 2: Steven Spielberg introduced her at that at that big award ceremony.
- 31:09Speaker 3: It was fine. Hey, Scott Shannon, there's the Barrett Media Summit.
- 31:14Speaker 3: That's a big event every year in New York. Uh throw.

- 31:31Speaker 3: I have no idea. Oh, I mean, but it's a
- 31:33Speaker 3: great honor. Somebody's gonna win that.
