- 0:01Gaining the cooperation of the vital nature is an important
- 0:05step in the transformation of our existence, including the
- 0:09upliftment of the physical nature.
- 0:13Once we have begun the process of observation of the vital
- 0:16nature, its habits, and its predilections, we can begin to
- 0:20implement various methodologies and techniques to reshape and
- 0:25redirect its energies. In order to do this effectively,
- 0:29however, we must appreciate certain principles and concepts
- 0:34that govern the process. Whichever specific techniques we
- 0:38attempt, the vital nature will naturally respond to leadership
- 0:43that is built on trust, respect, and a consistent, disciplined
- 0:48approach. It will remember if it is
- 0:51allowed to go one way one day and another way another day, and
- 0:56it will then follow its own inclination, expecting to get a
- 1:00result consistent with what it has observed in the process.
- 1:05The vital nature responds most effectively to a positive
- 1:09approach of education rather than a negative approach of
- 1:13punishment. A cheerful, supportive
- 1:17encouragement is far superior to an approach based in instilling
- 1:21fear or utilizing pressure to suppress or outright deny the
- 1:28expression of the vital. And conversely, one should not
- 1:32take an attitude of fear in relating to the vital nature and
- 1:36its reactions. Love and joy are more effective
- 1:40over the long term than an approach focused on denial and
- 1:44suffering. The process should be
- 1:47progressive, taking into account the starting point of the
- 1:51individual nature and working towards whatever next step or
- 1:55stage is possible. Patience should be exercised to
- 2:00allow for the time needed for the vital to adapt and adjust.
- 2:05Education should be focused on adjusting the vital nature's
- 2:09aspirations and goals away from its habitual mode of fulfilment
- 2:14and satisfaction to a new, higher, purer and more refined
- 2:20intention in its expression. The aim is to inspire the vital
- 2:26nature. Gratitude and goodwill should be
- 2:29inculcated as part of a natural relationship between the higher
- 2:33elements of the being and the vital nature.
- 2:37Mutual respect and support should be the prevalent
- 2:40relationship. These principles form the basis
- 2:45for a systematic, progressive, and uplifting development of the
- 2:49vital nature and underpin any of the techniques that may be
- 2:54utilized from time to time as the seeker confronts another
- 2:58element in the complexity of the vital and its habitual ways of
- 3:03responding to situations. The result of gaining the
- 3:07constant and powerful support of the vital nature in the
- 3:11transformation process is worth the effort, The mother notes
- 3:17quote. Naturally, it is very difficult
- 3:21to establish a constant contact between the most external
- 3:24physical consciousness and the psychic consciousness.
- 3:28And oh, the physical consciousness has plenty of
- 3:31goodwill. It is very regular.
- 3:34It tries a great deal, but it is slow and heavy.
- 3:39It takes long. It is difficult to move it.
- 3:44It does not get tired, but it makes no effort.
- 3:48It goes its way quietly. It can take centuries to put the
- 3:53external consciousness in contact with the psychic, but
- 3:57for some reason or other the vital takes a hand in it.
- 4:01A passion seizes it. It wants this contact for some
- 4:05reason or other, which is not always a spiritual reason, but
- 4:10it wants this contact. It wants it with all its energy,
- 4:14all its strength, all its passion, all its fervor.
- 4:20In three months The thing is done.
