- 1:05Speaker 2: week banger. How did I think of it earlier when
- 1:11Speaker 2: I was brushing my teeth? Oh a news of palooza.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Stupid news of palooza. That's where we will clean out
- 1:18Speaker 2: the files from this week of the things we didn't
- 1:20Speaker 2: get a chance to get to previously during the week.
- 1:24Speaker 2: So stupid news of Palooza today coming up inside the
- 1:27Speaker 2: tree House. Plus would you say something about the barefoot
- 1:36Speaker 2: man in the movie Theater? Also Trey's Big pile of Nope.
- 1:40Speaker 2: And I think it's very important that we start today
- 1:44Speaker 2: with some very compelling audio slash video and that stems
- 1:49Speaker 2: from former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's arrest in Wisconsin
- 1:54Speaker 2: for ow I. There is so much to learn when
- 1:59Speaker 2: it comes to this case, the first of which is
- 2:03Speaker 2: teaching everyone what OWI means, because it's really hard to
- 2:06Speaker 2: keep up with these different initials in different states and
- 2:09Speaker 2: municipalities for what things are like. It used to just
- 2:14Speaker 2: be well, actually, if I'm being honest, there didn't even
- 2:17Speaker 2: used to be a driving while intoxicated or drunk driving.
- 2:20Speaker 2: It was just you know, will you make it home
- 2:24Speaker 2: and then occasionally the officer might help you. Then they started,
- 2:27Speaker 2: you know, implementing laws and things, and then they started
- 2:30Speaker 2: arresting you for it.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Well, I remember it was it was originally DWI, then
- 2:36Speaker 1: it really turned into DUI.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Yep, it's kind of a fascinating transformation of the letters.
- 2:46Speaker 2: It's like, I don't really know. I know why a
- 2:48Speaker 2: couple of them just because they try to differentiate between
- 2:53Speaker 2: like drugs and alcohol or whatever. So I guess this
- 2:59Speaker 2: ow I is just an extension of that. But then
- 3:02Speaker 2: I guess also because the vehicles people were using weren't
- 3:06Speaker 2: necessarily driving.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Well would my guess would be especially I believe that
- 3:13Speaker 1: was in Wisconsin. Is they needed something broader base other
- 3:19Speaker 1: than just a motor vehicle. Uh you know. I mean
- 3:23Speaker 1: we've see all seen the stories from tractors to riding
- 3:26Speaker 1: lawnmowers and horses.
- 3:29Speaker 2: So I think that's why they they had to move
- 3:34Speaker 2: away from the d in d w Y too, oh,
- 3:38Speaker 2: which is just operating. You're doing something while intoxicated. Therefore
- 3:44Speaker 2: we need to pull you over, get you off the
- 3:46Speaker 2: streets because you you are a danger to society.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I think in the future it'll just be question mark WI.
- 3:55Speaker 2: And will somehow be able to pull in. I identify
- 4:00Speaker 2: as and maybe even pronouns in the middle of operating
- 4:04Speaker 2: machinery while intoxicated. Well, I'm I'm driving a truck, but
- 4:10Speaker 2: I identify it as a lamba, and my pronoun is he,
- 4:17Speaker 2: and they have a pronoun of they for the lama.
- 4:20Speaker 2: So let's just integrate all of it together.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I think, you know a little more simpler and just
- 4:25Speaker 1: say I identify a sober.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yes, that's it, that's the one. Yeah, I identify as
- 4:34Speaker 2: sober and you can't question it. Yeah, now, let me go, officer.
- 4:41Speaker 2: That actually might be an interesting test of the legal system.
- 4:44Speaker 2: So last Thursday, July twenty third, at approximately five point
- 4:49Speaker 2: thirty in the afternoon, on an I forty three high
- 4:52Speaker 2: rise bridge in Milwaukee, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo
- 4:57Speaker 2: was pulled over for erratic driving and then was later
- 5:01Speaker 2: arrested and booked on suspicion of o WI operating wild intoxicated.
- 5:07Speaker 2: And let's be honest, let's give let's give our boy
- 5:10Speaker 2: Tony Romo credit. He managed to wait until retirement to
- 5:15Speaker 2: get his first mug shot. Most Cowboys players knock that
- 5:18Speaker 2: out in their first season. Yeah, so you know, he
- 5:23Speaker 2: held off pretty good. So good on Tony also, and look,
- 5:29Speaker 2: when I first saw the story break, I think I
- 5:32Speaker 2: saw the same thing that everyone else did, and that
- 5:37Speaker 2: was Tony's mugshot, which, honest to God, may be one
- 5:40Speaker 2: of the douchiest mugshots I have ever seen. It's like
- 5:45Speaker 2: he went out of his way to channel early two
- 5:51Speaker 2: thousands Tony when he was still wearing Affliction shirt. And
- 5:54Speaker 2: I know that to be the fact. I know that
- 5:56Speaker 2: to be the case because I met him on a
- 5:59Speaker 2: few occasions. The first time I met him, he was
- 6:01Speaker 2: wearing a white Affliction shirt. But I feel like this
- 6:06Speaker 2: smile and the mugshot that he's doing where it's like
- 6:09Speaker 2: the slightly pursed and curled lips, that's not a natural smile.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I feel like that's something that you have to practice
- 6:17Speaker 2: in the mirror to attain because my mouth doesn't make
- 6:20Speaker 2: that shape normally. I have to try to do it,
- 6:24Speaker 2: and even then I'm not good at it. He can
- 6:26Speaker 2: bam right there full.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Douche, or he's just stoned to the Jesus.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I'm glad you bring that up because the bodycam video
- 6:36Speaker 2: of his arrest and investigation on the side of the
- 6:42Speaker 2: interstate in Wisconsin was released, and I would like you
- 6:47Speaker 2: to take I would like you to watch a little
- 6:50Speaker 2: bit of it, and then we can analyze what we
- 6:54Speaker 2: think about Romo's state of mind during this traffic stuff.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Uh same pulled this up here and here from our
- 7:05Speaker 2: our buddy old pals at TMZ Sports.
- 7:10Speaker 3: All right, where are you coming from the golf course? Okay, okay,
- 7:18Speaker 3: I'll take the driver's.
- 7:19Speaker 1: License from you.
- 7:20Speaker 4: You got it?
- 7:22Speaker 2: What's your name? Deputy Corps.
- 7:27Speaker 5: One?
- 7:28Speaker 1: I passed the gore, which is the place you're talking about.
- 7:32Speaker 2: You're saying I went over the white line? All right?
- 7:36Speaker 2: So there's there's all this the initial information. We get
- 7:39Speaker 2: an idea of what he looks like, what he sounds like.
- 7:41Speaker 2: He's asking her her name, which is good charm school
- 7:44Speaker 2: one O one, you know, like, hey, so what's your name?
- 7:46Speaker 2: Not in the necessarily like hitting on way, but just like, hey,
- 7:49Speaker 2: let's get to know each other a little bit here,
- 7:51Speaker 2: because obviously she knows his because it's on his license,
- 7:54Speaker 2: and he's also quite famous. But uh. We also get
- 7:59Speaker 2: the information as the reason why he was stopped because
- 8:02Speaker 2: the officer says that he had drifted over the white line,
- 8:04Speaker 2: i e. Driving radically used that as the probable cause
- 8:07Speaker 2: to pull him over and then try to ascertain if
- 8:10Speaker 2: whether or not he was under the influence.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Initial thoughts, Trey, Initial thoughts, you spent the day at
- 8:18Speaker 1: the golf course. Chances are you've been drinking.
- 8:21Speaker 2: It's funny you mentioned that because she's up the same mindset.
- 8:27Speaker 4: What's a good phone number for you?
- 8:31Speaker 1: Oh?
- 8:31Speaker 2: Darn yeah, Jerry, I'm sorry you're not getting Romo's number
- 8:36Speaker 2: in this.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Das.
- 8:42Speaker 2: All right, what's your dad for the same last name? Yeah,
- 8:46Speaker 2: so I got to say.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Okay, all right, thanks, time for me?
- 8:53Speaker 2: All right? So she goes back to her squad. Then
- 8:55Speaker 2: she and then the video edits, and now she's coming
- 8:58Speaker 2: back to his driver's window.
- 9:01Speaker 3: All right, how many drinks have you appen.
- 9:05Speaker 1: You're coming?
- 9:06Speaker 2: He said zero? If you couldn't quite hear that, just
- 9:09Speaker 2: a proper answer. What's that tray?
- 9:11Speaker 1: That is the proper answer. Don't ever, don't ever think
- 9:14Speaker 1: that you're gonna get off if you just go, oh,
- 9:16Speaker 1: I've had you know, one or two? Because that opens
- 9:19Speaker 1: you have just given them probable.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Cause exactly, so you have been drinking. Here's the thing.
- 9:26Speaker 2: You say one or two, what doesn't matter. You've just
- 9:28Speaker 2: admitted to drinking. It doesn't matter if you think your
- 9:31Speaker 2: BAC is below the legal limit. But as soon as
- 9:33Speaker 2: you tell the officer, yes, I've been drinking, the amount
- 9:37Speaker 2: doesn't matter because now they know there's alcohol in your system,
- 9:40Speaker 2: and they want to find out how much. Uh, and
- 9:43Speaker 2: she does mention here about how she hits him on
- 9:48Speaker 2: the golf course thing here, right, okay, all right, thanks
- 9:52Speaker 2: tight for me?
- 9:55Speaker 3: All right, how many drinks have you app coming from
- 10:00Speaker 3: a golf cart?
- 10:01Speaker 5: I'm played golf in Wisconsin state owns.
- 10:07Speaker 2: You're trying to tell me you played golf today and
- 10:10Speaker 2: you didn't drink. Look, I'm trying to be objectionable here,
- 10:15Speaker 2: but I totally get where the officers coming from because
- 10:18Speaker 2: I don't know anyone except for Trey who plays golf sober.
- 10:23Speaker 2: And the only reason Trey does is because he now
- 10:25Speaker 2: does everything sober.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah, if there was one time, if I could, if
- 10:30Speaker 1: I could pick a time to drink, it would probably
- 10:33Speaker 1: be playing golf.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And it's honest to God, honest to God, the fact
- 10:37Speaker 2: that you've you've now been sober ten years and you
- 10:40Speaker 2: play golf. I mean that is I mean props to
- 10:45Speaker 2: you and your willpower, because I mean, if there's ever
- 10:47Speaker 2: a spot where you might, you know, fall off the
- 10:49Speaker 2: wagon or the golf cart, it's going to be playing golf.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And especially if you've been playing in a golf tournament.
- 10:55Speaker 1: That that's almost generally a free for all.
- 11:00Speaker 4: I've helped out with a number of those, including one
- 11:02Speaker 4: for the Dallas Cowboys.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Mmmm. It's well, it's very it's very wet. It's uh.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah, shotguns start and sometimes they start shotgunning beers.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeah, so he said, so okay, So I didn't hear
- 11:23Speaker 2: that the first time I listened to it. So he
- 11:25Speaker 2: gave the name of the golf tournament. He says, it's
- 11:28Speaker 2: a USGA event, therefore it's more of an official thing,
- 11:32Speaker 2: so no drinking involved. This isn't This isn't like Golden
- 11:37Speaker 2: Tea in real life, where you're wearing funny hats and
- 11:40Speaker 2: shotgunning things and and you're hitting on the cart girls.
- 11:44Speaker 2: He says. It's USGA. They kind of frown on, you know,
- 11:47Speaker 2: the drinking, unless maybe you're John Daily and you've got
- 11:50Speaker 2: it just hidden in your back.
- 11:57Speaker 4: You're coming from a golf court.
- 11:59Speaker 5: I'm playing golf in Scott's have stayed after.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Okay, So it's like a.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Okay, all right, I'm gonna run you use the fields.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Are you willing to take an I'm sorry, yes, you're
- 12:21Speaker 3: today to step out of the vehicle. Okay, step out
- 12:26Speaker 3: of the vehicle.
- 12:29Speaker 2: This is a very crucial moment in the video, extremely crucial.
- 12:33Speaker 2: This is the moment where the stop could turn electric. Uh,
- 12:42Speaker 2: and it's look, this is really important to note. Uh.
- 12:45Speaker 2: This is where Hollywood has lied to us, and it's
- 12:47Speaker 2: important in some instances that I think Hollywood start correcting
- 12:50Speaker 2: a few of these, especially when it comes to your
- 12:53Speaker 2: constitutional rights versus what fits in conveniently in a you know,
- 12:59Speaker 2: police or law procedural. There's no such thing as call.
- 13:05Speaker 2: You get one phone call when you get to jail.
- 13:07Speaker 2: That's not a thing. You can get calls you don't.
- 13:10Speaker 2: There's no such thing as calling your lawyer in this situation.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Everything you're supposed to do is follow the officers instructions
- 13:18Speaker 2: and if you don't, then other things can happen.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Well, if you haven't been mirandized yet, you have, like
- 13:23Speaker 1: that's all out the window. And like you said, and
- 13:27Speaker 1: God knows, there are a number of these videos out
- 13:30Speaker 1: on social media, especially with the sovereign citizens. They don't
- 13:34Speaker 1: have to negotiate with you if they would tell you,
- 13:37Speaker 1: and especially in this situation, if they say you want
- 13:41Speaker 1: to do a field sobriety test, it's a yes or no, Yes,
- 13:44Speaker 1: get out and do it. No, get out and put
- 13:46Speaker 1: your hands behind your.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Back, or I'll come in and get you.
- 13:50Speaker 1: And it's always been that way. I mean Everett used
- 13:54Speaker 1: to going back years ago before before they had mandatory
- 13:58Speaker 1: you know, they could get a warm for your blood
- 14:00Speaker 1: and everything else. The running thing was if you get
- 14:04Speaker 1: pulled over and it comes to the situation at a
- 14:06Speaker 1: certain point, just get out of the car, step to rear,
- 14:10Speaker 1: put your hands behind your back. You're going to jail.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Don't blow, don't do the fields of briety test, don't
- 14:15Speaker 1: do it all. Call your attorney.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Deal with it there, right, because odds are, as soon
- 14:23Speaker 2: as the officer pulls you over, because the officer suspects
- 14:28Speaker 2: you of being intoxicated, you're going to jail. I can't
- 14:34Speaker 2: think of any occasion where an officer genuinely suspected someone
- 14:38Speaker 2: and then let them go.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Oh I can, God knows what happened to me a
- 14:45Speaker 1: number of times.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Okay, poor example. I also know of another time when
- 14:53Speaker 2: they know someone was completely effed up and effed up
- 14:58Speaker 2: their vehicle and nothing happened. Right, So, yes, it does happen.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Let me backtrack a little bit. For those that don't
- 15:08Speaker 2: have friends in law enforcement, they are not letting you go.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Especially and what happened to me that was twenty five
- 15:16Speaker 1: years ago. Today, No, they especially with body cams and
- 15:21Speaker 1: everything else. If they suspect you of DUI, chances are
- 15:26Speaker 1: you are going to jail.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Right. And here's the reason why it's important to bring
- 15:30Speaker 2: that up is because then the lawyer thing where he
- 15:32Speaker 2: wants to call his lawyer and ask is am I
- 15:34Speaker 2: supposed to do this or not? I get from the
- 15:37Speaker 2: citizen point, you want to be like, oh, I want
- 15:40Speaker 2: to check my rights. I shouldn't have to do this.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I know I'm not drunk, or trying to convince them
- 15:43Speaker 2: I'm not drunk. Public safety has superseded your self interest
- 15:50Speaker 2: or your constitutional what you see as your constitutional rights.
- 15:53Speaker 2: The officer truly believes you're a danger to society. They're
- 15:57Speaker 2: not going to let you call your lawyer and then
- 15:59Speaker 2: drive away.
- 16:00Speaker 1: The beauty of it is, if you are sober, ultimately
- 16:04Speaker 1: you will be vindicated, whether it be by the field
- 16:06Speaker 1: sobriety test or by your B a C coming back
- 16:10Speaker 1: below the legal limit.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Yep, let's go back.
- 16:14Speaker 1: To the tape.
- 16:24Speaker 3: The sobriety test.
- 16:31Speaker 1: The vehicle.
- 16:36Speaker 2: So now he's still rifling through his phone trying to
- 16:38Speaker 2: find his attorney, which, by the way, is still a
- 16:41Speaker 2: good indicator. He's having a hard time finding it, which
- 16:44Speaker 2: means he doesn't call the attorney very much. Again, very
- 16:47Speaker 2: unlike most Cowboys players former and current. Is he saying
- 16:51Speaker 2: I'm not allowed to Yeah, he's asking. He's like, so,
- 16:54Speaker 2: I'm not allowed to call my lawyer. And that's why
- 16:56Speaker 2: I brought up the Hollywood thing. Everyone assumes that you're
- 16:59Speaker 2: allowed to call your lawyer whatever, and it's just you're not.
- 17:02Speaker 2: You're the officer's job is to get you off the
- 17:05Speaker 2: street because they think you're a danger to everyone and
- 17:07Speaker 2: they're not going to just let you do whatever you want.
- 17:10Speaker 1: And when when you're with the Cowboys, you don't need
- 17:13Speaker 1: to call the attorney. They just you call one person
- 17:16Speaker 1: and they fix everything for you. Uh huh, unless you're
- 17:21Speaker 1: unless you're dead, then you have a dedicated person.
- 17:24Speaker 2: That's right. Oh man, oh dead?
- 17:30Speaker 1: Miss those days.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Back to the video, I'll take an additional time seventeen.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Not stepping out of the vehicle. So here she's she
- 17:45Speaker 2: just called dispatch and said, I need another I need
- 17:47Speaker 2: backup on this because I may have to, you know,
- 17:50Speaker 2: put this man in irons, I'll do it. I'm just
- 17:54Speaker 2: saying that I'm not out of that. And you know what, again,
- 18:20Speaker 2: I give I give I give rum credit there he's
- 18:23Speaker 2: he's gotten clear instructions. I give the officer credit. She
- 18:26Speaker 2: gave them clear, gave him clear instructions. Back he's like, okay,
- 18:28Speaker 2: I'll get out of the vehicle. I get it. Not
- 18:30Speaker 2: allowed to got it it?
- 18:41Speaker 1: Did?
- 18:41Speaker 2: I forget to add it? Back? My bad. Here we go.
- 18:44Speaker 2: So here he's just getting out of the vehicle, seat
- 18:46Speaker 2: belt off. So you're gonna step in front of my
- 18:59Speaker 2: son in my vehicle, all right? So that that's the
- 19:10Speaker 2: end of the video that teams Sports has makes his
- 19:14Speaker 2: way back to her vehicle. She says, for backup, you
- 19:17Speaker 2: don't need to hurry. He's out of the vehicle now
- 19:19Speaker 2: and he's going to do some tests. So, now that
- 19:23Speaker 2: you've seen the entirety of what we've seen so far,
- 19:25Speaker 2: what is your assessment on our boy Tony?
- 19:32Speaker 1: I mean, not hammered, but I'm gonna go with you know,
- 19:35Speaker 1: he definitely had a few beers on the course.
- 19:38Speaker 2: What about you, Jerry? You think you think he's you
- 19:43Speaker 2: think you think he drink and drive. Jesus I'm drinking coffee,
- 19:46Speaker 2: and I saw like, I sound more drunk than he does.
- 19:49Speaker 2: He is definitely off, but definitely. It's interesting because while
- 19:55Speaker 2: I was watching and I was like, I mean, I
- 19:57Speaker 2: don't see him every day. I don't see him when
- 19:59Speaker 2: he's not, you know, commentating on football games. He seems okay,
- 20:06Speaker 2: seems really tired, yep, And I see what he means.
- 20:12Speaker 2: He's like, I was at a USGA amateur event. There's
- 20:14Speaker 2: not drinking during that, okay, but there's also the nineteenth hole.
- 20:21Speaker 2: You're telling me. Yeah, Now, the police department, I don't
- 20:28Speaker 2: know if it was a police department or a deputies,
- 20:30Speaker 2: but they said that they pulled him over for erradic
- 20:36Speaker 2: lane weaving. He said he had zero drinks. He declined
- 20:40Speaker 2: a preliminary breath test as to call his lawyer before
- 20:44Speaker 2: and this is according to a couple of news outlets,
- 20:46Speaker 2: before performing poorly on field sobriety tests. So we don't
- 20:51Speaker 2: I haven't seen what happened in the field sobriety tests.
- 20:55Speaker 2: But this is where I go back to what we've
- 20:59Speaker 2: been told for years by attorneys and police officers, and
- 21:04Speaker 2: I feel I think we should disclaim this by saying
- 21:07Speaker 2: do not take what we say as your own personal
- 21:10Speaker 2: legal advice. We are not lawyers. You contact your lawyer
- 21:15Speaker 2: and contact and expert. That being said, from what we've
- 21:18Speaker 2: been told, don't even bother doing the tests. All that
- 21:21Speaker 2: is is evidence gathering against you. Don't do it.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Unless you're sober. Unless you are unless you are sober.
- 21:30Speaker 2: And even then maybe maybe not because I mean, like
- 21:36Speaker 2: chances are you're you're going to jail unless you know
- 21:40Speaker 2: for a fact you are stone cold sober and you
- 21:42Speaker 2: can do all those tests without any question. I wouldn't
- 21:46Speaker 2: even recommend it. You're just killing time. You're like, you're
- 21:48Speaker 2: going to go to jail, so you just get it
- 21:50Speaker 2: over with. It's like you said, go to the back
- 21:52Speaker 2: of go to where they tell you follow the directions
- 21:55Speaker 2: and just say I'm not going to do it.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Only different I believe. Now if you refre use, you
- 22:01Speaker 1: get an automatic license suspension.
- 22:03Speaker 2: In most states, that would be be where it'd be
- 22:06Speaker 2: really smart to ask an attorney to see if that's
- 22:08Speaker 2: the case.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Or you know, and it's easy for me to say
- 22:13Speaker 1: now as I'm almost ten years sober, don't drink and drive.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Here is that. I hate it when you're right hey Man.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Ten years sober, I still will go out on occasion
- 22:32Speaker 4: and drink, and I don't I know better than to
- 22:34Speaker 4: do that.
- 22:35Speaker 1: So it is one of the greatest miracles of life
- 22:41Speaker 1: that I got through twenty five years of alcoholism with
- 22:45Speaker 1: nearly a DWI. I got arrested for one, pulled over
- 22:49Speaker 1: for one. Actually got pulled over because I didn't have
- 22:50Speaker 1: a front license plate. And honestly, of the thousands of
- 22:55Speaker 1: times I could have been busted, it was the one
- 22:57Speaker 1: night where I really wasn't. Only reason he hauled me
- 23:01Speaker 1: in was because I'd been out at the Indie race
- 23:03Speaker 1: the night before and there was an empty beer can
- 23:05Speaker 1: in the back of my car. And but my intox
- 23:09Speaker 1: video was perfect. I refused to blow in talks from
- 23:13Speaker 1: video was perfect. Even the officer on the stand everyone
- 23:16Speaker 1: got asked him, how would you grade that? He was like, well,
- 23:21Speaker 1: B minus C plus he guess, really, where's the mistake?
- 23:24Speaker 1: Fine and A minus?
- 23:27Speaker 2: Damn Everett get in that ass.
- 23:29Speaker 1: That's because I hadn't seen it. You know, we went
- 23:31Speaker 1: to try and seen anything. And then Everett Everett comes
- 23:34Speaker 1: out of the room where you know they meet with
- 23:35Speaker 1: the DA right before the trial and kind of look
- 23:38Speaker 1: over everything, and he came out smiling. He goes, you're good.
- 23:41Speaker 2: He's done enough of those cases. He knows, he knows
- 23:44Speaker 2: where this case is going to land.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Right.
- 23:46Speaker 2: So yeah, Everett ever Newton or old pal, the Rock
- 23:50Speaker 2: and Roll attorney retired now, right, So he did so
- 23:54Speaker 2: well at defending you and so many others. He's like,
- 23:56Speaker 2: I'm good now. And he also doesn't drink, so he's
- 24:02Speaker 2: never had one either, as far as I know. And again,
- 24:06Speaker 2: I hate that you're right, but I also am with
- 24:09Speaker 2: you that there there have been there have been times
- 24:11Speaker 2: where I was like, oh, I should not have made
- 24:15Speaker 2: that home. Mm hmmm hm, Well the other wrinkled to this.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I just want to mention this quickly.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Uh.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Someone had reached out to CBS Sports to see if
- 24:31Speaker 2: Romo's arrest for ow I would affect his employment, and
- 24:35Speaker 2: they're like, no, really, all the things that former players
- 24:44Speaker 2: and coaches have done and are currently doing, an ow
- 24:49Speaker 2: i've uh an ow I arrest in Milwaukee where Romo
- 24:54Speaker 2: is polite, maybe maybe you know, intoxicated, but he's not belligerent.
- 24:59Speaker 2: He's he's not dropping in bombs, he's not punching anybody.
- 25:02Speaker 2: He's not sleeping with somebody else's wife. He's not murdering anybody.
- 25:06Speaker 2: CBS Sports is like, please, he's fine. If anything, it
- 25:10Speaker 2: just makes him cooler.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Well, but CBS Sports also has a history. They're great,
- 25:15Speaker 1: possibly their greatest play by play man, Pat summer All
- 25:21Speaker 1: was hammered in the booth for years, both football and golf.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I mean it was known that he and Ken Venturrey
- 25:27Speaker 1: doing golf would polish a fifth a day. So they
- 25:31Speaker 1: don't have their history, and they're like, yeah, you know what,
- 25:36Speaker 1: maybe that'll make him a little better. Here, I have
- 25:38Speaker 1: a cocktail, you know what.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Honestly, maybe that's the reason why Romo decided to go
- 25:43Speaker 2: with CBS Sports, because he's like, hey, that's the party channel. Yeah,

- 26:11Speaker 2: can be to the life of the roof. That's something
- 26:14Speaker 2: you guys look at. It's not just about shingles absolutely. Dan.
- 26:18Speaker 5: A lot of homeowners underestimate the amount of attic heat
- 26:22Speaker 5: build up that their home has, affects their AC system,
- 26:26Speaker 5: affects their roof condition, long term, affects just overall their home.
- 26:31Speaker 5: And so when we come out we make that assessment
- 26:34Speaker 5: with the homeowner, We try to educate them, make sure
- 26:36Speaker 5: they have the proper ventilation.
- 26:38Speaker 2: There is a calculation of this.
- 26:39Speaker 5: We walk them around if they're interested in going around,
- 26:41Speaker 5: we show them what their intakes look like, what their
- 26:43Speaker 5: exhaust system looks like, and try to make the best
- 26:46Speaker 5: fit for their home. So that's a very common thing
- 26:48Speaker 5: that we do, and it should be done every time
- 26:50Speaker 5: you have construction done at your property. You need to
- 26:52Speaker 5: be educated on what's happening and why.
- 26:55Speaker 2: And if you've ever dealt with a roofing contractor that

- 28:01Speaker 2: He's Trey. That's Jerry. Today is Thursday, July thirtieth, twenty
- 28:06Speaker 2: twenty six. Let's celebrate today with some birthdays. Also quick note,
- 28:14Speaker 2: I can't believe it's almost August. Today is a really
- 28:18Speaker 2: fun birthday day. So let's start with Delta Burke. She
- 28:22Speaker 2: is seventy today. She is best known for playing Suzanne
- 28:25Speaker 2: sugar Baker on one of the all time great sitcoms,
- 28:28Speaker 2: Yeah I Said It, Designing Women, an outstanding cast that
- 28:33Speaker 2: included Delta Burke, Annie Potts, the two other Ladies and
- 28:39Speaker 2: a goddamn legend and me, Shock.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Taylor and Gerald McRaney. Wasn't he on there?
- 28:46Speaker 2: Yeah? I think he was because at the time Jerald
- 28:48Speaker 2: McCraney and Delta Burke were married.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I thought they met on Designing Women.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Maybe they did. Yeah, and then he went on to
- 28:56Speaker 2: have one of my favorite sitcoms as a kid, major
- 28:59Speaker 2: dad who knew who knew? The Marines could be still funny.
- 29:07Speaker 1: And Designing Women was a good show. I never was
- 29:10Speaker 1: glued to it.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I wasn't gled to it, but I lived with my
- 29:14Speaker 2: grandmother and I watched a lot of what she watched.
- 29:17Speaker 1: So yeah, that's why I'm very familiar with Angela Lansbury
- 29:22Speaker 1: and and Matt Locke.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Same. But uh, yeah, and that's.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Interesting, you said, because The Golden Girls was a great show.
- 29:33Speaker 1: But it has remained it Sometimes people it's just it's
- 29:37Speaker 1: a secret, like a blank on what there's a name
- 29:44Speaker 1: for that.
- 29:45Speaker 2: But uh, guilty, guilty, guilty, pleasure.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I wonder if Designing Women has that same feels,
- 29:51Speaker 1: that same void. I'm not to go back and watch
- 29:53Speaker 1: a few episodes. I do remember it being really funny.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Oh it was such a great show. And and again,
- 30:01Speaker 2: there are certain shows and actors and actresses I watched
- 30:05Speaker 2: as a kid, not because I sought them out, but
- 30:07Speaker 2: because I lived with my grandmother and I watched a
- 30:10Speaker 2: lot of what she watched, Like Designing Woman. You mentioned
- 30:14Speaker 2: Golden Girls. I'm not a Golden Girl's retread viewer like
- 30:18Speaker 2: so many people are today where they're like, oh, look
- 30:21Speaker 2: at this old show I found. No, I was a
- 30:24Speaker 2: first run Golden Girls. Bro Me and my grandmother watching
- 30:28Speaker 2: Golden Girls and Love and Ruth and Blanche and all
- 30:31Speaker 2: of it. So yet Designing Women, Golden Girls, first run
- 30:36Speaker 2: Matt Locke in the heat of the night, anything with Angela,
- 30:42Speaker 2: anything with Angela Lansbury Murder, she wrote, absolutely Sunday Night,
- 30:46Speaker 2: glued to the TV Dallas, Mm hmmm, Dynasty, Yeah, Not's Landing. Yeah,
- 30:53Speaker 2: but yeah, I mean Designing Women was a really fun
- 30:55Speaker 2: show that I would not have watched had it not
- 30:57Speaker 2: been for my grandmother. So yeah, And then like we
- 31:01Speaker 2: mentioned that led us into Delta Burke married to Gerald McCraney.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Jerald McCraney in Major Dad Other Birthdays today, you know
- 31:13Speaker 2: how Earlier in the week we dissected the Karate Kid
- 31:17Speaker 2: movies one, two, three, and four. Hillary Swank is fifty
- 31:22Speaker 2: two today. Another example as to the reason why we
- 31:26Speaker 2: do birthdays. We'll bring up something just completely randomly, and
- 31:28Speaker 2: then it'll pop in later on the week it's that
- 31:30Speaker 2: person's birthday, and here we are. She's a two time
- 31:34Speaker 2: Academy Award winner despite dispite Karate Kid four.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that really is impressive because, yeah, typically a Karate
- 31:45Speaker 1: Kid four is gotta hang around your neck like a anchor.
- 31:50Speaker 2: I mean, it really is. When you think about Hollywood
- 31:53Speaker 2: careers and how impressive it is that some actors were
- 31:56Speaker 2: talented enough or were fortunate enough to be and roles
- 32:01Speaker 2: despite some of their earlier works, it's fascinating. Hillary Swank
- 32:06Speaker 2: is one of those. Ben Affleck, to me, is kind
- 32:10Speaker 2: of one of those because I still remember him in
- 32:14Speaker 2: the After School Special where he's the high school guy
- 32:17Speaker 2: taking steroids.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Does does Ben Affleck reach the same stardom if it's
- 32:25Speaker 1: not for a movie that he and they am and
- 32:30Speaker 1: wrote in Goodwill Hunting?
- 32:33Speaker 2: Maybe not. And since Tara and I just rewatched Goodwill Hunting,
- 32:37Speaker 2: we went back and looked at sort of like what
- 32:39Speaker 2: they had done before that movie, and it's not like
- 32:41Speaker 2: those guys were struggling that hard because the way my
- 32:47Speaker 2: memory worked was I thought that they had had next
- 32:49Speaker 2: to nothing, and that's the reason why they had written
- 32:52Speaker 2: Goodwill Hunting and then that catapulted each of their careers.
- 32:55Speaker 2: But even before Goodwill Hunting, Matt Damon was in school
- 32:59Speaker 2: Ties opposite Brendan Fraser. Ben Affleck had already been in
- 33:06Speaker 2: Maul Rats, I believe, Chasing Amy. I can't remember if
- 33:11Speaker 2: that was right before or right after Goodwill Hunting, but
- 33:15Speaker 2: that was gonna happen regardless of the Goodwill Hunting thing,
- 33:17Speaker 2: because they were already buddies with Kevin Smith. Kevin Smith
- 33:21Speaker 2: was in fact an executive producer on Goodwill Hunting. So
- 33:28Speaker 2: would they have had the same career, I don't know,
- 33:30Speaker 2: but they would have each had some type of a career.
- 33:33Speaker 1: I remember more Ben Affleck than I do Matt Damon
- 33:37Speaker 1: as being a b role player, not the main star,
- 33:42Speaker 1: but in a lot of movies.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Goodwill Hunting definitely served as a sling shot for
- 33:49Speaker 2: Matt Damon, absolutely, And it was interesting seeing him in
- 33:55Speaker 2: Goodwill Hunting all the way back in nineteen ninety eight,
- 33:59Speaker 2: and that was coming off of having just seen him
- 34:03Speaker 2: in the Odyssey, you know, thirty years later, it's like, man,
- 34:07Speaker 2: you talk about a solid career.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Have you seen the meme going around of like Hollywood
- 34:12Speaker 1: has spent six hundred and fifty million dollars saving that
- 34:15Speaker 1: Matt Damon, just.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Trying to get Matt Damon home. It really is amazing
- 34:20Speaker 2: because you've got The Odyssey, the Martian, Interstellar, another Christopher
- 34:25Speaker 2: Nolan because he was trapped on a planet there. Saving
- 34:29Speaker 2: Private Ryan. Saving Private Ryan was another huge one. And
- 34:32Speaker 2: these are all massive movies. Yeah, I mean just I mean,
- 34:38Speaker 2: that's what Hollywood has spent on trying to get him home.
- 34:41Speaker 2: But the box office grosses on getting him home as
- 34:44Speaker 2: in the Billions.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh it's it's been worthwhile.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Oh it's really great. Like you want a successful film,
- 34:50Speaker 2: you find a way to get Matt Damon home.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Yeah, get him lost and get him back home.
- 34:56Speaker 2: That's right. So it's an amazing formula. Other birthdays today
- 35:03Speaker 2: from Friends, Lisa Kudro is sixty three today. She's Emmy
- 35:09Speaker 2: winning actress. Of course, played Phoebe Buffet on Friends. He's
- 35:12Speaker 2: got a new show that I think is now actually ending.
- 35:15Speaker 2: It's on like it's third season or something. Was called
- 35:16Speaker 2: the comeback. And keep in mind all the Friends cast,
- 35:20Speaker 2: they still make roughly twenty million dollars a year in royalties.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Not so much Matthew Perry. Now, I don't know how
- 35:26Speaker 2: that works on their contracts, if that goes away, or
- 35:29Speaker 2: if it somehow goes to his estate or something. I
- 35:31Speaker 2: don't know how they've worked all that, but it was
- 35:34Speaker 2: good to be on Friends. Laurence Fishburn is sixty five.
- 35:40Speaker 2: You talk about another interesting career. I remember when Blackish
- 35:46Speaker 2: came out, the television show and it showed Laurence Fishburn
- 35:48Speaker 2: is like the dad or grandfather on it, and I
- 35:51Speaker 2: was like, why is he doing TV? He don't need
- 35:54Speaker 2: to do that. He's like bona fide movie star. But
- 35:56Speaker 2: he's like, you know what, I got time, I'll do
- 35:58Speaker 2: it well on the real have changed.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I mean it used to be if you were a
- 36:01Speaker 1: movie star, you dare not do TV, and if you're
- 36:04Speaker 1: a TV star you probably aren't going to get into movies.
- 36:08Speaker 1: But I think the thing that shocks me more than
- 36:10Speaker 1: anything is Lisa Kudro sixty two and he's sixty five.
- 36:14Speaker 1: I would have thought he was in.
- 36:16Speaker 2: His seventies, much older, like ninety, like had I said
- 36:20Speaker 2: Laurence Fishburne was was eighty five instead of sixty five.
- 36:24Speaker 2: I think you would have believed it without question, far.
- 36:29Speaker 1: More than sixty five.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Lawrence Fishburne sixty five, Lucy Lisa Kudro sixty three.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I mean, damn, that means he because Boys in the
- 36:43Speaker 1: Hood is probably it's getting up close to forty years old,
- 36:47Speaker 1: I know, so.
- 36:47Speaker 2: He's the dad and Boys in the Hood, he was
- 36:49Speaker 2: like twenty two. Right. On the other hand, maybe that
- 36:53Speaker 2: was super accurate for the film, which means I guess, so,
- 36:56Speaker 2: I guess in the in the character arc of the time,
- 36:59Speaker 2: he may have been twenty two playing a character that
- 37:01Speaker 2: was thirty.
- 37:04Speaker 4: But yeah, yeah, wow, it means he was in his
- 37:09Speaker 4: forties in the Matrix. Holy cow, you're now older than
- 37:16Speaker 4: he was in The Matrix. Terry Crews is fifty eight,
- 37:23Speaker 4: Star of Brooklyn ninety nine. Everybody Hates Chris longtime host
- 37:27Speaker 4: of America's Got Talent and the President and one of
- 37:31Speaker 4: the greatest films of all time, and it seems to
- 37:33Speaker 4: prove itself year after continuing year.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Idiocracy, Yep, and The Big Movie I'm sorry, The Big
- 37:43Speaker 2: Birthday Today, Massive Movie Star bigger than all the ones
- 37:47Speaker 2: I've just said combined. Turning seventy nine today, Seven time
- 37:53Speaker 2: Mister Olympia former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger is seventy
- 37:59Speaker 2: nine today. One of not only Hollywood's greatest stories, but
- 38:04Speaker 2: one of America's greatest stories. Young kid nineteen years old
- 38:09Speaker 2: comes to America, doesn't even really speak the language, becomes
- 38:13Speaker 2: one of the greatest movie stars in history, and he
- 38:16Speaker 2: is still held onto that accent, and honestly, he.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Looks great for almost eighty. I just saw him do
- 38:25Speaker 1: an interview within the last couple of months, and had
- 38:30Speaker 1: you said he was sixty nine, I would have been like, yeah, okay, yeah.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Yeah, dude's almost eighty. He'll be eighty next year. And
- 38:37Speaker 2: he still goes like Venice Beach and works out and
- 38:39Speaker 2: stuff goes to show. Like we were saying the other day,
- 38:43Speaker 2: use it or lose it, I mean, no, he doesn't
- 38:45Speaker 2: look the same that he did and Predator or anything
- 38:48Speaker 2: like that. Because it is gonna come. That helps. Although
- 38:52Speaker 2: I will say this so like old age will come
- 38:54Speaker 2: for all of us in different in different ways. Right,
- 38:57Speaker 2: if you use it, you won't lose it as severely
- 39:01Speaker 2: but you can see there's a decline. Even with Arnold Schwarzenegger,
- 39:05Speaker 2: there's gonna there's gonna be some drop off. But I
- 39:07Speaker 2: don't think he uses things that say Sylvester Stallone uses
- 39:13Speaker 2: still because they're around the same age, and Sylvester Stallone
- 39:17Speaker 2: looks like he could still like if he wanted to,
- 39:20Speaker 2: he could pop into a bodybuilding competition and turn some heads.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Well, Sylvester Stallone, there's no telling what is implants and
- 39:29Speaker 1: and what's not. He has had so much work done
- 39:32Speaker 1: mm hmm. But it is interesting because you can see
- 39:35Speaker 1: his transformation throughout his career.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Like in Rocky he's kind of soft, but he's still
- 39:44Speaker 2: fit right, and then just in the transformation of his
- 39:47Speaker 2: Rocky character, you can see, oh here's where he found
- 39:49Speaker 2: stere Really it was right before Rocky three.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Well, especially Rocky four where his opponent is all juiced up,
- 39:59Speaker 1: but he's doing it naturally.
- 40:00Speaker 2: No, Okay, that's not from that's not from that's not
- 40:04Speaker 2: from deadlifting logs. Bro those are the Needle Twins.

- 40:54Speaker 2: Before we hit to stupid News of Palooza, I have
- 40:59Speaker 2: to show you this. On Reddit, someone said I always
- 41:06Speaker 2: thought it was just an urban legend and nobody could
- 41:11Speaker 2: actually be this disgusting. Eh, barefoot in a movie theater,
- 41:24Speaker 2: But not just barefoot in a movie theater, bare feet
- 41:28Speaker 2: perched up on the seat back in front of him.
- 41:33Speaker 2: The ultimate question is with a barefoot individual with their
- 41:38Speaker 2: feet on the seat back in front of him in
- 41:40Speaker 2: a movie theater, do you say something? Yes? What do
- 41:49Speaker 2: you say? Whether their feet are covered or not? Get
- 41:51Speaker 2: them the hell off the back.
- 41:52Speaker 4: You're too close to my head man, put your feet down,
- 41:56Speaker 4: so you think you're.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Thinking the same thing I was. Which is the person
- 42:02Speaker 2: that took the photo is sitting a few seats to
- 42:06Speaker 2: the side of the barefoot person. If I'm the person
- 42:11Speaker 2: taking the photo, I may not say anything because their
- 42:15Speaker 2: feet are not on the back of my chair. But
- 42:20Speaker 2: if I am sitting in the seat where the bare
- 42:22Speaker 2: feet are on the back of my chair, I will
- 42:25Speaker 2: absolutely say, get your dirty dogs off the back of
- 42:28Speaker 2: my seat.
- 42:31Speaker 1: See, I'm just the opposite. I never even thought about
- 42:33Speaker 1: being in the seat in front where that guy's feet
- 42:37Speaker 1: are close to my head. I would lose my mind.
- 42:40Speaker 1: I would like to think I have hit a point
- 42:42Speaker 1: in life where I would bite my tongue and just
- 42:44Speaker 1: walk away and change seats because I don't want to
- 42:46Speaker 1: look at someone's bare feet. I I don't understand feet
- 42:50Speaker 1: fetishes or anything else. I consider I'm generally one of
- 42:53Speaker 1: the ugliest parts of the human body. No, oh, if
- 42:59Speaker 1: that was if I someone was hell shoes or no shoes.
- 43:03Speaker 1: If you've got your feet close to my head, you
- 43:07Speaker 1: know that's gonna be a problem.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, So as as he's perching feet, you're throwing hands.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Again. I would like to think I have reached a
- 43:20Speaker 1: point in my life of calmer, peaceful, more enlightened where
- 43:25Speaker 1: I am just going to get up and move and
- 43:28Speaker 1: and just not let it bother me.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I doubt it. Look, we can all have goals,
- 43:36Speaker 2: but we fall short. And that's where my therapist says,
- 43:40Speaker 2: it's okay to give yourself some grace. You're gonna you're
- 43:44Speaker 2: gonna make mistakes. It's okay. So you, Trey would say
- 43:48Speaker 2: something if you were a couple of seats to the
- 43:51Speaker 2: side of the barefoot guy in the movie Theater, I think.
- 43:55Speaker 1: I've reached a point in life where I would just
- 43:57Speaker 1: get up and move.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I think without necessarily causing too much of an
- 44:06Speaker 2: incident or instigating too much. I would stare at it
- 44:10Speaker 2: from the side. If I was a person on the side,
- 44:12Speaker 2: I would stare at it. I would stare at the feet,
- 44:14Speaker 2: and I'd look at the guy in the face, look
- 44:16Speaker 2: at the guy in the face, stare at his feet
- 44:17Speaker 2: and just be like, dude, really, and if he doesn't
- 44:22Speaker 2: do anything, then and then you know what, It doesn't
- 44:27Speaker 2: necessarily directly affect me because his feet are not on
- 44:30Speaker 2: my chair. But again, I go back to if I
- 44:35Speaker 2: feel like, if I'm in the chair and I feel
- 44:38Speaker 2: a little push forward, do not put your feet whether
- 44:43Speaker 2: they are covered or otherwise on the back of a
- 44:46Speaker 2: chair I am sitting in, especially if I move get
- 44:51Speaker 2: them off. But absolutely if they're barefoot, Like, if someone
- 44:57Speaker 2: does that and I look to see and I can
- 44:59Speaker 2: see legs perched on the seat, I'm gonna stand up
- 45:02Speaker 2: and look down. And if I see bear if I
- 45:04Speaker 2: see piggies looking back at me, We're gonna have a problem.
- 45:09Speaker 2: We're gonna have a problem. Even if it's just shoes,
- 45:11Speaker 2: I'm just gonna be like, that's not cool, dude.
- 45:14Speaker 4: Even even from the angle of that picture, I'm still
- 45:18Speaker 4: I don't care about whether you're you got bare feet
- 45:23Speaker 4: or not. It's it's it's having them on the back
- 45:25Speaker 4: of the seat. For me, it's and I might I
- 45:28Speaker 4: might give them a side eye and a really you know,
- 45:33Speaker 4: but ultimately the fights between the two of them, so
- 45:37Speaker 4: I'll get my my phone ready in case it escalates.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think you're right. I think at that point,
- 45:42Speaker 2: like if someone sits in that seat and that's where
- 45:45Speaker 2: it's kind of becomes their thing, I'll give the person
- 45:47Speaker 2: some stink eye because of the bear feet in general,
- 45:49Speaker 2: but I may not say anything about it. But yeah,
- 45:53Speaker 2: if I'm the person in the chair. Nope, not happening,
- 45:57Speaker 2: especially when in seats these days, you probably selected that
- 46:01Speaker 2: seat so you paid for it, kind of like an
- 46:03Speaker 2: airline and I guess if it's a middle seat, like
- 46:06Speaker 2: I paid for it, I want my seat. I don't
- 46:07Speaker 2: want to have to move because you're an inconsiderate asshole.
- 46:13Speaker 2: But also, so many of the seats in theaters recline. Now,
- 46:17Speaker 2: just recline. Why are you sticking your feet on the
- 46:19Speaker 2: back of a chair?
- 46:20Speaker 1: Yeah, just keep your fucking shoes on. Period. Mm hmm.
- 46:27Speaker 2: All right, let's do some stupid nousa palooza. Gotta blow
- 46:31Speaker 2: out here inside the treehouse for the end of the week.
- 46:36Speaker 2: All right, this one has been cracking me up all week.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Millennials are trying to make minivans cool again. That's it.
- 46:56Speaker 4: Oh, I thought this was gonna be some kind of
- 46:58Speaker 4: decoration or mod train or something.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Just no, no, I'm going to give a shocking take here.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Minivans have gotten a bad rap. Wow. I would never
- 47:13Speaker 1: drive I would never drive one, but if I had
- 47:16Speaker 1: a family, I totally get it. You got teav I mean,
- 47:21Speaker 1: they had more tech in them than cars did for
- 47:24Speaker 1: the the longest time. You had screens, You had all
- 47:26Speaker 1: the things you need to keep a child's attention on
- 47:30Speaker 1: on something and not bothering you of are we there yet?
- 47:35Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't know.
- 47:37Speaker 1: You can make them look cool, but I I don't
- 47:40Speaker 1: hate them.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Millennial parents are changing their minds about the mini van, or,
- 47:46Speaker 2: as some would say, they see me rolling, but maybe
- 47:49Speaker 2: they won't be hating. A TikTok video showed off lounge
- 47:56Speaker 2: style chairs with built in ottomans and fourteen inch screens
- 48:00Speaker 2: in the back of a Kia Carnival. Another proudly shows
- 48:04Speaker 2: off a Toyota Siena, proclaiming eighteen cup holders, but y'all
- 48:08Speaker 2: still thirsty, And another mom turned her minivans into a
- 48:13Speaker 2: mobile living room, but not without throwing out the old
- 48:16Speaker 2: stuff with an enthusiastic yeat. Mini vans, once the de
- 48:20Speaker 2: facto soccermont vehicle of choice, are making a huge comeback.
- 48:25Speaker 2: Long considered a dead segment, minivan sales grew twenty one
- 48:29Speaker 2: percent in twenty twenty five, selling almost four hundred thousand units.
- 48:35Speaker 2: According to Edmunds, the mini van is back. From a
- 48:41Speaker 2: practical standpoint, I get it. Minivans are smaller than the
- 48:48Speaker 2: Tahoe than the four door Tahoe. They're smaller than the
- 48:52Speaker 2: the suburban, the Ford Expedition, the Jeep, Grand Wagon near
- 48:57Speaker 2: I drove one of those. You can't. It's so hard
- 49:00Speaker 2: to park these vehicles. They're no longer SUVs, they're small buses.
- 49:06Speaker 1: So the minivan, Oh, that's bullshit, they all no, it's
- 49:12Speaker 1: it is because they've been the same size forever. Now
- 49:17Speaker 1: you have cameras and all the other things that makes
- 49:19Speaker 1: parking them so much easier.
- 49:22Speaker 2: Well, I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm just saying that's
- 49:24Speaker 2: a big, big vehicle, and a minivan is more practical
- 49:28Speaker 2: because you can usually fit the same number of people
- 49:31Speaker 2: in a minivan that you can and say the Grand
- 49:33Speaker 2: Wagoneer or a suburban, especially when you factor in the
- 49:36Speaker 2: cargo space in a suburban and they're a little smaller,
- 49:41Speaker 2: get better gas milets. So I get it. From a
- 49:43Speaker 2: practical standpoint, the minivan makes sense. But they've almost they
- 49:47Speaker 2: came this close to extinction, they almost stopped making them.
- 49:51Speaker 1: And to your point, they are lower to the ground,
- 49:55Speaker 1: so they are easier to get in and out of,
- 49:56Speaker 1: both for kids and if you have elderly parents.
- 50:02Speaker 2: But just the fact that they've grown in sales twenty
- 50:06Speaker 2: one percent in twenty twenty five. That's amazing to me
- 50:11Speaker 2: because there's really only so many brands that even still
- 50:14Speaker 2: make a mini van. And I just mentioned like the
- 50:16Speaker 2: Kia Carnival, the Toyota Sienna. I mean I didn't know that. Ah.
- 50:23Speaker 2: I think I think they may have stopped making that one,
- 50:25Speaker 2: and that now they're like, well, maybe we need to
- 50:26Speaker 2: bring it back. Which one the Toyota Sienna.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Oh uh, let's say Honda. I don't know if they
- 50:33Speaker 1: still make the Odyssey or not. And I also get
- 50:37Speaker 1: it because car prices are freaking ridiculous and a tricked
- 50:43Speaker 1: out Tahoe Yukon XL whatever you're looking at eighty plus
- 50:49Speaker 1: thousand dollars easy see.
- 50:52Speaker 4: I was thinking it was like getting the used mini
- 50:54Speaker 4: vans and tricking them out yourself after market.
- 50:57Speaker 2: You know, sure do that too. It's a lot of
- 50:59Speaker 2: sense to me. Hell yeah, go find you a good
- 51:01Speaker 2: times van and turn it into a kidmobile. What for you, man?
- 51:06Speaker 1: That's what they need to bring back is the old
- 51:08Speaker 1: ice to call them the nked lady vans. Dan So
- 51:12Speaker 1: had the cool artwork on them, I.
- 51:14Speaker 2: Got, I bet you do. Probably I like your version
- 51:19Speaker 2: of it, Tray, because my mom referred to him as
- 51:22Speaker 2: shag and wagons. I mean, she wasn't wrong, and it
- 51:26Speaker 2: really threw me off because like my first because like
- 51:28Speaker 2: my first car was a four door Blazer, not the
- 51:31Speaker 2: big one like the it was the small S ten
- 51:33Speaker 2: And one time she referred to it, She's like, so
- 51:35Speaker 2: where are you Where are you and your buddy's going
- 51:37Speaker 2: in the shag and wagon. I was like, don't you
- 51:38Speaker 2: ever say that again. Mom, That's just well, I don't
- 51:41Speaker 2: know if that was a strategy on her part to
- 51:43Speaker 2: get me to not want to have sex in that car.
- 51:46Speaker 2: As soon as she referred to it as shag and wagon,
- 51:48Speaker 2: it just nope.
- 51:49Speaker 1: No, interesting. She referred to it with you and your buddies.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Also that I know what she was doing. Yeah, I
- 52:00Speaker 2: got over it. Don't get me wrong, I got over it.
- 52:02Speaker 2: And but yeah, I just didn't like her referring to
- 52:05Speaker 2: it in such a fashion. But it is interesting because like,
- 52:10Speaker 2: there was a guy I worked with a handful of
- 52:12Speaker 2: times when I was working at the Fan. He was
- 52:14Speaker 2: a beat writer for the Texas Rangers and he worked
- 52:18Speaker 2: for the morning news for a while ESPN Radio. His
- 52:20Speaker 2: name is Richard Dirrett. It's a great guy, a great
- 52:23Speaker 2: family man, very talented man, and I really enjoyed the
- 52:26Speaker 2: times I worked with him, one of the and he
- 52:29Speaker 2: died at the age of thirty eight, very suddenly. And
- 52:33Speaker 2: one of the stories that came out about him after
- 52:35Speaker 2: the fact was how much of a dedicated family man
- 52:38Speaker 2: he was, specifically when it came to the mini van.
- 52:41Speaker 2: The stories about him were he loved his family, loved
- 52:44Speaker 2: his kids so much he couldn't wait to be the
- 52:47Speaker 2: dad driving them around in a mini van. And I thought,
- 52:51Speaker 2: that is such a richerd Dirrett thing, because he was
- 52:55Speaker 2: a good dude, really dorky looking, and him and Evan
- 53:00Speaker 2: just perfect.
- 53:02Speaker 1: But one of the few people in media that and
- 53:04Speaker 1: I remember I met him one time and new people
- 53:08Speaker 1: that knew him, but one of the few people that
- 53:10Speaker 1: actually you did not hear anything.
- 53:12Speaker 2: Bad about that was a great, great dude. And the
- 53:15Speaker 2: fact that he was like, yeah, I'll drive the minivan.
- 53:17Speaker 2: It's like, of course you would, And you know what
- 53:19Speaker 2: own it absolutely where the white new balances, black socks
- 53:23Speaker 2: up to the midcalf whatever. But yeah, so when I
- 53:27Speaker 2: think minivan, I think of him. But then also when
- 53:30Speaker 2: I think of minivans because, like I said, they almost
- 53:32Speaker 2: died out like they had. Had there not been this increase,
- 53:36Speaker 2: the industry might have said, what's the point of still
- 53:37Speaker 2: making these things? No one uses them except for like
- 53:40Speaker 2: cab drivers and stuff. But let's be honest. I mean,
- 53:46Speaker 2: the suv is the new minivan. The suv is the
- 53:51Speaker 2: new station wagon. There's really not many station wagons around.
- 53:54Speaker 2: You get like the occasional I think it's like the
- 53:55Speaker 2: super ru outback and that's about it. But let's be honest.
- 53:59Speaker 2: All inn suv is is a tall station wagon.
- 54:05Speaker 1: Mind you. Now, some of that that's an American thing
- 54:07Speaker 1: because like station wagons are popular overseas and they don't
- 54:13Speaker 1: understand our love of the suv, but they generally don't
- 54:16Speaker 1: have the spaces we do to park and do everything else.
- 54:20Speaker 1: You you almost have to order station wagons. I have
- 54:23Speaker 1: a friend that loves station wagons like I'll never understand
- 54:27Speaker 1: his He had a Volvo one and he loved it.
- 54:32Speaker 2: That's that's the one I was thinking of. It's got
- 54:34Speaker 2: to be the Volvo, right, yeah, Well, single guy with
- 54:38Speaker 2: a station wagon obsession and the Volvo one specifically, that's
- 54:44Speaker 2: it's that is the shag and wagon and he should
- 54:46Speaker 2: change the letters from Volvo to Volva because that's his goal.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Sadly, his volvo, his vulva broke, so.
- 55:00Speaker 2: You hate it when that happened. Yeah, all right, last
- 55:04Speaker 2: bit here I got to mention this. This is headline only,
- 55:06Speaker 2: because that's all it needs to be. A family is
- 55:09Speaker 2: furious after a car dealership sold an elderly blind man
- 55:13Speaker 2: a car. Welcome to the new millennium.
- 55:22Speaker 1: And car dealers are the same.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Oh hopefully it was a minivan. Yeah, all right, for
- 55:29Speaker 2: all things Treehouse, hit Treehouse on air dot com and again,
- 55:33Speaker 2: if you love this one, hit that share button from
- 55:35Speaker 2: your favorite listening platform, Send it to a friend, Send
- 55:37Speaker 2: it to an elderly blind relative who is driving down
- 55:42Speaker 2: the highway.
- 55:44Speaker 1: And I don't know if you read read the full story,
- 55:47Speaker 1: but the worst part is they try to get to
- 55:49Speaker 1: take it back, and they offered him like half what
- 55:51Speaker 1: he paid for it.
- 55:52Speaker 4: Those mothers did they tell him because he's blind, so
- 55:56Speaker 4: he wouldn't know the difference.
- 55:59Speaker 2: Sorry, sir, over it off the lot. It immediately depreciates.
- 56:02Speaker 2: Oh man, what a bunch of picks. Send the show
- 56:07Speaker 2: to a friend, coworker, and together we can grow the
- 56:11Speaker 2: tree House Show. We'll see you next time, right here
