- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey guys, it's the Almost Nice podcast.
- 0:08Speaker 3: It's just me today, but I have two of two
- 0:12Speaker 3: other hosts, actually two other very prominent hosts in this world,
- 0:17Speaker 3: The Bachelor Happy Hour podcast host Joe and Serena.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Hello all, Hello, thanks, welcome.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Miss you guys, like truly miss you guys. I would
- 0:26Speaker 2: love to see you soon sometime.
- 0:28Speaker 5: Yeah, we were hoping. We were hoping you were going
- 0:30Speaker 5: to be here.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Yeah, we thought you would be you know, Country Foot's
- 0:37Speaker 3: when you're when you're a mom.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's just like, it's a lot. It's a lot. Sometimes
- 0:40Speaker 2: it's nice. They get me over there on the other
- 0:43Speaker 2: coast for Jonahs brother concerts.
- 0:45Speaker 4: You were just here for the Jonas Brothers.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Did you watch the Jonahs Brother's Christmas Movie?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Did you love it?
- 0:51Speaker 4: We started it and then Joe was like, oh, this
- 0:53Speaker 4: is a musical. I don't know, let's watch something else.
- 0:55Speaker 4: But I'm definitely circling back. My sister's watched it like
- 0:58Speaker 4: three times already. Really, Oh, you know, it's really happy,
- 1:02Speaker 4: easy watch you throw it on in the background. It's like,
- 1:04Speaker 4: so Christmas. Yon, they're coming up with camp Rock three.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Did you see?
- 1:08Speaker 3: Yes? I hope that Camp Rock three kind of follows
- 1:12Speaker 3: the methodology that this movie has because it's so of
- 1:19Speaker 3: our age, like it was made for thirty somethings who've
- 1:23Speaker 3: been fans of the Jonas brothers. It's so funny, it's
- 1:26Speaker 3: really well scripted. It's I think it's genuinely enjoyable to
- 1:30Speaker 3: anybody who's not a fan.
- 1:31Speaker 2: But if you're a fan, like everything is hilarious.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like it's rotten tomato score was decent, it.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Was it's in the nineties.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, oh was it in the nineties.
- 1:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Jared you know, big movie critic, and he was like,
- 1:45Speaker 3: that was an enjoyable watch, so so you should have.
- 1:49Speaker 3: I think you probably turned it off during Best Night,
- 1:55Speaker 3: which is a fantastic song, but it's the beginning of
- 1:57Speaker 3: like everything is very tongue in chee can, very self aware.
- 2:01Speaker 5: So I just don't I just don't love music.
- 2:03Speaker 4: No, it's a nine tomato eater.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's a it's supposed to be a funny musical, like,
- 2:10Speaker 3: oh my gosh, they're bursting out in song now it's
- 2:12Speaker 3: so ridiculous, like self aware, that's ridiculous.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Okay, gonna watch it.
- 2:16Speaker 3: So yeah, let's circle back or thanks thanks to it
- 2:20Speaker 3: for me. So, Joe, you just ran the New York
- 2:24Speaker 3: City marathon. My our nanny just ran too, and she
- 2:27Speaker 3: was kind of excited that there's so many Bachelor Nation runners.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Where did you place amongst everyone?
- 2:33Speaker 5: I placed pretty well. I did a three. Sorry, I
- 2:37Speaker 5: lost my voice this weekend, so you hear the raspiness
- 2:41Speaker 5: and I apologize to your I apologize to your listeners.
- 2:44Speaker 5: I placed people like it. I did a three forty nine.
- 2:48Speaker 5: My goal was like three thirty five, which I was
- 2:51Speaker 5: pacing out for and then like around mile seventeen, I
- 2:56Speaker 5: just I just slowed down because I got I just
- 2:58Speaker 5: my body just kind of gave out.
- 3:00Speaker 4: But his last marathon, he ran a three fifty nine,
- 3:03Speaker 4: so he was trying to shave off like thirty minutes.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Impressive.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah, Joe, is this your second marathon?
- 3:13Speaker 5: Then second marathon? Yeah? Yeah?
- 3:16Speaker 4: Why?
- 3:17Speaker 3: How I just don't understand. It's mind boggling to me.
- 3:21Speaker 3: How what's the fear level?
- 3:24Speaker 2: Like I just question.
- 3:28Speaker 1: You know what?
- 3:28Speaker 5: It's not. I don't it's it's I don't have any
- 3:32Speaker 5: fear going into it. And honestly, when people ask me,
- 3:36Speaker 5: I'm like, I get more nervous, and I go like,
- 3:39Speaker 5: I don't have to speak, you know, I don't have
- 3:41Speaker 5: to like step on stage and do something that's more
- 3:43Speaker 5: nerve wracking than just like running. It gets just really
- 3:47Speaker 5: what you what you worry about, and it happens. It
- 3:50Speaker 5: happened to me both times. Is stomach cramps. Because you
- 3:54Speaker 5: can't run through stomach cramps. It's really hard. Yeah, So
- 3:57Speaker 5: I just I just focused on my breath and my
- 4:00Speaker 5: breath work, and then usually I run. I do end
- 4:02Speaker 5: up running through it, but if those get really bad,
- 4:05Speaker 5: you're done. And then and then you're like you don't
- 4:08Speaker 5: want to be the person mile five, miles six and
- 4:12Speaker 5: you have to start walking because then it's gonna take
- 4:14Speaker 5: five hours, six hours to finish, and that's horrible.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Did you run into anyone from Bachelor?
- 4:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I I run with Release, which is
- 4:25Speaker 5: Zach Clark's charity foundation. And then in the in the tent,
- 4:30Speaker 5: I mean I saw Matt James and Taysha were both there,
- 4:35Speaker 5: and and Tyler I saw him and his girlfriend.
- 4:38Speaker 3: How was the interaction between you and Taysha, because I
- 4:41Speaker 3: know that you guys have a.
- 4:44Speaker 5: Oh we're yeah, we're cool. Yeah, yeah, we're cool.
- 4:46Speaker 3: And yeah, okay, so you basically saw everyone.
- 4:52Speaker 2: What is your treat afterward? How do you reward yourself?
- 4:57Speaker 5: I like the first year was much more rewarding. I
- 5:01Speaker 5: remember I was like, I wanted, I want to get
- 5:03Speaker 5: shake shack and I did. This year.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I don't even remember what we ordered.
- 5:09Speaker 5: I ordered. I ordered a pizza. It was great, but
- 5:11Speaker 5: I was in so much pain because I had I
- 5:14Speaker 5: ran with like ankle compression sleeves and I never ran
- 5:18Speaker 5: with those before, and they cut off in the middle
- 5:20Speaker 5: of my foot. So I ended up getting two massive
- 5:22Speaker 5: blisters and they broke open and I just when I
- 5:25Speaker 5: finished the race, both socks were full of blood. Yeah yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 5: so it took it. Honestly, my recovery this time was
- 5:34Speaker 5: about a week. I got infections, I had to go
- 5:38Speaker 5: to the doctor. It was a little rough.
- 5:40Speaker 3: So why why do you do it? It is the
- 5:42Speaker 3: charity component, because that is a good answer me. The
- 5:46Speaker 3: charity compon just rather donate the money online.
- 5:50Speaker 5: That's fair. That's fair. I I am somebody that loves
- 5:56Speaker 5: working towards a goal. I enjoy running. It's it's therapy
- 6:01Speaker 5: to me. I don't know if I'll ever do another
- 6:02Speaker 5: marathon because I don't want to lose the enjoyment of it,
- 6:07Speaker 5: because I do enjoy running. I do enjoying running slow
- 6:10Speaker 5: and long, and yeah, I think it's working towards the call.
- 6:14Speaker 5: I enjoy that.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Yeah, Saruna, how are you when he's training? And then
- 6:21Speaker 3: what do you do on the day of with the marathon?
- 6:24Speaker 3: Do you like go to a different point?
- 6:26Speaker 4: Yeah. Zach's foundation release has like a watch spot at
- 6:32Speaker 4: the eighteenth mile, so I went there and watched him
- 6:34Speaker 4: run by there and then I book it to the
- 6:38Speaker 4: finish line. The first year I failed, I got to
- 6:41Speaker 4: the eighteenth mile, we saw him, he saw me. It
- 6:43Speaker 4: was great, and then we were like, oh, like, we
- 6:46Speaker 4: have tons of time, we'll walk to the finish line.
- 6:49Speaker 4: And then we were running to the finish line and
- 6:51Speaker 4: then there was like a thirty minute wait to get
- 6:52Speaker 4: to the finish line and we missed him and it
- 6:54Speaker 4: was devastating. But this year we had the schedule on lock,
- 6:57Speaker 4: so we hit him up at the eighteenth mile. He
- 6:58Speaker 4: ran right past me, didn't see me. I'm like screaming
- 7:01Speaker 4: his name. I was all the time.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I'm waving it.
- 7:06Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I totally missed them. Well, because you
- 7:09Speaker 5: know what you guys said eight mile eighteen and you
- 7:12Speaker 5: were at mile seventeen.
- 7:14Speaker 4: I think I said we were right before mile eighteen. Yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 4: miss there's a huge flag that says release. He's not
- 7:20Speaker 4: even looking around, he's just dead paying forward. But we
- 7:24Speaker 4: got to the finish line, which was great and exciting,
- 7:28Speaker 4: and you saw me there.
- 7:30Speaker 5: I mean, I am a little you know, I'm running
- 7:32Speaker 5: a marathon.
- 7:33Speaker 4: So I'm really stressed because I was like, I have
- 7:37Speaker 4: his snacks and if he wants them and he starts
- 7:41Speaker 4: looking for me later, he's going to think that like
- 7:43Speaker 4: I didn't go or I missed it, like I was.
- 7:46Speaker 4: I have one job and I want him to know
- 7:47Speaker 4: like I completed this.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I was here for you.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Yes, but you said you didn't end up needing them,
- 7:53Speaker 4: so it's it all worked out. It's fine. Yeah, and
- 7:55Speaker 4: I got to see you, which was cool.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Oh so sweet.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Well, guys, you have been living in New York for
- 8:02Speaker 3: a while now, do you still love it?
- 8:04Speaker 2: We do, Yeah, we do.
- 8:05Speaker 6: We do.
- 8:05Speaker 5: It's a problem. It's a problem because we just keep
- 8:07Speaker 5: renewing our least.
- 8:08Speaker 4: We want to want to leave, We want to want
- 8:11Speaker 4: to go somewhere else and get a bigger apartment and
- 8:13Speaker 4: not pay crazy money and rent, and like you wake
- 8:16Speaker 4: up in New York and they charge one hundred dollars
- 8:18Speaker 4: just to be there.
- 8:19Speaker 2: It feels like, but we love it.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I feel like even just like in the suburbs, it's
- 8:23Speaker 3: just one hundred dollars to leave the house.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Yeah, it's crazy, but like we love not having a car,
- 8:28Speaker 4: and we love the food scene and all the things.
- 8:30Speaker 4: So every year around this time we do the like
- 8:33Speaker 4: should we leave, should we resign? And yeah, I think
- 8:36Speaker 4: we'll probably research a.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Great time a year in New York too, like the
- 8:39Speaker 5: holiday season, Like it's just so nice.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I just can't believe that Joe, after spending his entire
- 8:46Speaker 3: life in Chicago, thinks that New York is better.
- 8:50Speaker 5: It's well, Chicago's a funny city. Chicago. I mean, I
- 8:52Speaker 5: love Chicago. I'm from Chicago. But like in growing up
- 8:55Speaker 5: in Chicago, the mentality is this is the greatest city
- 8:59Speaker 5: in the world. Then that's what everyone will tell you.
- 9:01Speaker 5: And so many people don't even leave Chicago and they're
- 9:03Speaker 5: like this is the best.
- 9:04Speaker 6: It's like, well how do you keep They are like
- 9:08Speaker 6: when you go to Chicago, people from Chicago are like,
- 9:11Speaker 6: this is the best city in the world, without a doubt.
- 9:14Speaker 4: They feel so passionately about their city.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Yeah, but I do. I believe that New York is
- 9:20Speaker 5: the best. It is my favorite.
- 9:22Speaker 2: All right.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Well, when you guys decide to have kids, I'm sure
- 9:25Speaker 3: that that is when the whole are we going to
- 9:27Speaker 3: renew our least thing might change? Yeah?
- 9:30Speaker 4: Definitely.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Well, yeah we can't.
- 9:31Speaker 4: We're right now in the debate of like, could we
- 9:34Speaker 4: even fit a dog in this apartment if we wanted to,
- 9:36Speaker 4: which I genuinely don't think we could. One we could,
- 9:38Speaker 4: but then it's like the crate and the dog bed
- 9:40Speaker 4: and the food, Like we don't have any room right
- 9:43Speaker 4: now for anything extra. Yeah, so it's like, how are
- 9:46Speaker 4: we supposed to fit another human being?
- 9:48Speaker 5: Not a chance to say a human being?
- 9:50Speaker 4: No, I'm just she was saying, like, when you eventually
- 9:52Speaker 4: try to have kids, that's going to be the instigator.
- 9:55Speaker 5: But we can't have a kid in a six hundred
- 9:56Speaker 5: and fifty square foot apartment. We just can't.
- 9:58Speaker 4: No. I mean you could, but it's not gonna be fun.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Do you guys have separate areas that you can retreat to?
- 10:15Speaker 4: No, Well, we have the living room slash kitchen area,
- 10:17Speaker 4: which like you walk into the main area and then
- 10:19Speaker 4: we have like a little mini hallway that goes into
- 10:22Speaker 4: our bedroom where you can shut.
- 10:23Speaker 3: The door there, so it's somebody watches TV in the yeah, totally.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Or like if we both have a call at the
- 10:30Speaker 4: same time, like he has a desk in the kitchen area,
- 10:32Speaker 4: he can like take it there and then I take
- 10:33Speaker 4: out like my vanity in the bedroom.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Or the outdoors, got it, the outdoors? What do you mean,
- 10:38Speaker 2: like on the streets.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Yeah, go for a walk.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Oh yeah, if you're like I need some solo time,
- 10:43Speaker 4: you can take a walk.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the best place to take a walk. I
- 10:46Speaker 3: would say I would prefer a city walk. I think
- 10:49Speaker 3: that's more soulful to me than taking a walk like
- 10:53Speaker 3: out in grassy areas. The good thing in New York
- 10:55Speaker 3: is there's always people walking, like you're never it never
- 10:58Speaker 3: feels weird or you're out there by yourself, like there's
- 11:01Speaker 3: all these people walking around, whereas I do feel like
- 11:04Speaker 3: coming to like La or even in some areas of Chicago,
- 11:07Speaker 3: you're walking around and it's just dead because everyone's in
- 11:09Speaker 3: their cars. Yeah, so you guys obviously talk about Bachelor
- 11:15Speaker 3: for a living in some capacity. What do you think
- 11:18Speaker 3: about Taylor Frankie Paul being the Bachelorette.
- 11:22Speaker 5: I love it.
- 11:22Speaker 4: I love it too.
- 11:23Speaker 5: I think it's honestly.
- 11:24Speaker 2: So we're on the same page. We all want the
- 11:27Speaker 2: we all wanted to go forward, right. I think this
- 11:29Speaker 2: is probably the best thing.
- 11:30Speaker 4: It's good for the franchise. We love Mormon Wives. Do
- 11:33Speaker 4: you watch Mormon Wives.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I've watched pretty much most of the first season, so
- 11:40Speaker 3: I have to catch up and I will, of course
- 11:42Speaker 3: by the time her her series yeah starts.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Well, they're almost unfilming, so I'm curious to hear a
- 11:48Speaker 4: little bit how it went.
- 11:50Speaker 2: They're going through Thanksgiving.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Do you think they took that week off or do
- 11:53Speaker 3: you think that like she did Thanksgiving with families?
- 11:58Speaker 4: Good point, they did film through Thanksgiving. I don't know,
- 12:03Speaker 4: maybe they.
- 12:03Speaker 5: Did like a I'm sure they took that day off.
- 12:07Speaker 4: You think, yeah, maybe.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, they probably took a couple of days off there.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Yeah, So anything about what do you have thoughts of
- 12:17Speaker 3: that's like topical in Bachelor Nation, I feel like Alex
- 12:21Speaker 3: and Andrew are definitely on their way to marriage, and
- 12:25Speaker 3: then we have Dale and Kad who just broke up,
- 12:27Speaker 3: and we think that that's no surprise.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Yeah, have either of them put out a statement. No,
- 12:33Speaker 4: it was just like confirmed by a source that they've
- 12:35Speaker 4: broken up, right sort of.
- 12:37Speaker 5: Yeah, Well that that's the interesting thing about Bachelor and
- 12:39Speaker 5: Paradise Now there's I don't think there's not as much
- 12:43Speaker 5: emphasis on the couple because of the game element. I
- 12:49Speaker 5: don't feel like you have to be like almost putty
- 12:52Speaker 5: even put out an announcement, where prior it did feel
- 12:56Speaker 5: like the only thing at the end was like what
- 12:59Speaker 5: you won was the relationship, And I feel like now
- 13:01Speaker 5: because of the money element, you win a little more.
- 13:03Speaker 5: So I don't know, like it basically it didn't seem
- 13:07Speaker 5: weird to me that Cat and Dale didn't put anything
- 13:10Speaker 5: out where I think prior.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Years it totally would have been weird prior year, Yes,
- 13:15Speaker 4: but I agree, Yeah, I don't think anyone was like
- 13:17Speaker 4: what happened, Like where's the statement? Like where's in the past.
- 13:21Speaker 4: It would be like so much speculation all the things happening.
- 13:25Speaker 4: I think people just kind of like we're like, yeah, okay,
- 13:27Speaker 4: like accepted it. But they also haven't.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I mean I follow both of them, they don't haven't
- 13:30Speaker 3: really been posting a lot together, so it's not like
- 13:33Speaker 3: they didn't post anything with each other until since September
- 13:36Speaker 3: they haven't.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, so I feel like it's different when like
- 13:38Speaker 4: a couple's posting up a storm and then all of
- 13:40Speaker 4: a sudden, the next day it's like the rings off
- 13:42Speaker 4: and the statements up, and then everyone's kind of jarred.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Well, normally we see them have to like have a
- 13:48Speaker 3: conclusion moment where people get engaged or break up. Yeah,
- 13:53Speaker 3: and since they didn't force that this year, if you're
- 13:56Speaker 3: just breaking up as boyfriend and girlfriend, it's just not
- 13:58Speaker 3: that as big of a deal.
- 14:00Speaker 4: I do feel like those, like the structure of where
- 14:03Speaker 4: it's like either break up or go to fantasy suites
- 14:05Speaker 4: and then either break up or get engaged, makes the
- 14:09Speaker 4: stakes of the relationship feel so much more intense because
- 14:12Speaker 4: you've like shown a commitment to each other twice on
- 14:16Speaker 4: the show of like now we're doing this, and I
- 14:19Speaker 4: feel like not having that it really Yeah, Like when
- 14:21Speaker 4: I think back to the season of Paradise, I really
- 14:23Speaker 4: think way more about the game element than I do
- 14:25Speaker 4: about the relationships.
- 14:26Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, I'm curious to see if they keep doing that.
- 14:29Speaker 4: I feel like it'll be like a cherry picking situation.
- 14:32Speaker 4: They'll keep some stuff, they'll let go of other stuff.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Because it was a lot of newness this season. Yeah.
- 14:38Speaker 3: I was talking to Joan and Kathy and season and
- 14:40Speaker 3: we were saying that actually it kind of worked out
- 14:42Speaker 3: because Alex's life totally changed without the student loans.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that's true. Or you know, maybe they
- 14:48Speaker 4: don't do the game element and the season's way bigger
- 14:50Speaker 4: and she makes a lot of money doing Brandyal's.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Other things after loans. That way good critical thinking. I
- 14:58Speaker 3: have Grant coming on. I think after you guys, Yeah,
- 15:02Speaker 3: what do we ask Grant about?
- 15:05Speaker 4: Well, we just had Juliana on the podcast.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 15:11Speaker 3: She was telling you guys that they pretty much broke
- 15:16Speaker 3: up right after after the final rose, or at least
- 15:19Speaker 3: it was a big fight, and then he had spent
- 15:21Speaker 3: time planning the statement.
- 15:25Speaker 4: I would ask him, I guess he had some options
- 15:28Speaker 4: that he presented to her of like, hey, these are
- 15:31Speaker 4: the ways we could roll out our breakup. I would
- 15:34Speaker 4: ask him what his options are, and I would rank
- 15:36Speaker 4: them from best to worst.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Okay.
- 15:40Speaker 4: I would also ask him what happened to his music career,
- 15:43Speaker 4: you know, his passion for music seems to have gone
- 15:46Speaker 4: mia and when's the next t getting released?
- 15:50Speaker 3: Well, we also have, you know, the dating show that
- 15:53Speaker 3: he's like didn't give advice on.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Wait what philis did?
- 15:58Speaker 2: He teased that he had a show coming where he
- 16:00Speaker 2: was going to be like the dater, like the.
- 16:03Speaker 4: Guy was the dating coach, the dating coach. Is this
- 16:07Speaker 4: like a real show or is this like a series
