Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome back to the program. In
- 0:03Speaker 1: this episode, we're headed back out to Idaho to check
- 0:06Speaker 1: in on day number 24 of the Chad Daybell trial.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Once again, we're going to be using eastidahonews.com and the
- 0:14Speaker 1: author of this article is Nate Eaton. 8.37 a.m. Retired
- 0:19Speaker 1: FBI agent Rick Wright, witness number 66, will be on
- 0:23Speaker 1: the stand this morning as defense attorney John Pryor continues cross-examination. 8.38 a.m.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Lawyers done meeting with Boyce, Fremont County Prosecuting Attorney Lindsay Blake,
- 0:34Speaker 1: Madison County Prosecuting Attorney Rob Wood, Fremont County Deputy Prosecuting
- 0:38Speaker 1: Attorney Rocky Wixom, and Special Prosecutor Ingrid Beatty are at
- 0:43Speaker 1: the prosecution's table. 8.39 a.m. Jurors are in their seats.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Larry Woodcock is in the courtroom this morning. There are
- 0:50Speaker 1: around 30 members of the public in the gallery today. 8.44 a.m.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Pryor begins by showing an exhibit displaying Alex Cox's phone activity.
- 1:01Speaker 1: From September 22nd, the last day J.J. Vallow was seen alive,
- 1:05Speaker 1: Alex was back and forth between his and Lori Vallow's apartments. 8.45 a.m.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Another page is displayed showing Alex was on the Daybell
- 1:15Speaker 1: property on certain dates and times. Pryor asks Wright if
- 1:18Speaker 1: he has any information that Chad was also there at
- 1:22Speaker 1: the same time. Wright does not. 8.48 a.m. Pryor displays
- 1:26Speaker 1: an image showing data points of Alex's phone on September 28, 2019,
- 1:30Speaker 1: when Alex was at a shooting range. Pryor asks about
- 1:35Speaker 1: the frog-tog suit that Alex bought at Sportsman's Warehouse and
- 1:38Speaker 1: if there was an indication those were worn or used.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Wright says they look new to him. A camo beanie,
- 1:45Speaker 1: set of gloves, and ski mask were also purchased the
- 1:48Speaker 1: same time as the pants. 8.51 a.m. Pryor asks Wright
- 1:53Speaker 1: if Alex bought a hunting license at the end of September.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Wright doesn't recall. Pryor asks about the paintball gun incident
- 2:00Speaker 1: on October 9th and dates the following week where data
- 2:04Speaker 1: points from Alex's device were able to be tracked. 8.53 a.m.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Pryor displays an image showing October 9th, the day a
- 2:12Speaker 1: gunman showed up at Tammy Daybell's driveway. Alex's phone was
- 2:16Speaker 1: in the vicinity of the Daybell residence from 4.50 to 5.03 p.m.
- 2:21Speaker 1: and back in his apartment from 5.16 to 9.53 p.m.
- 2:26Speaker 1: The paintball gun incident happened between 8.30 and 9.30 p.m.,
- 2:30Speaker 1: according to Wright. Alex's phone was at his apartment during
- 2:33Speaker 1: the incident. 8.56 a.m. Pryor reviews some other dates and
- 2:38Speaker 1: times of data points from Alex's device. The evening of
- 2:42Speaker 1: October 18th, the day before Tammy died, Alex was at
- 2:46Speaker 1: Chick-fil-A in Hammond at 8.05 a.m. He stayed over an
- 2:49Speaker 1: hour and drove to within a few miles of the
- 2:52Speaker 1: Daybell residence. His device pinged at the Salem church from 10.07
- 2:57Speaker 1: to 10.45 p.m. that night, 9.01 a.m. Pryor shows a
- 3:01Speaker 1: GPS image of the Salem church. He asked Wright to
- 3:04Speaker 1: point out where Alex may have parked. There were data
- 3:07Speaker 1: points matched to his device on both sides of the church.
- 3:10Speaker 1: There's a gap in location data from 10.45 p.m. to 11.53 p.m.
- 3:15Speaker 1: The device then picked up as it was traveling south
- 3:18Speaker 1: to Idaho Falls and registered at the Hilton Garden Inn
- 3:21Speaker 1: a little after midnight. The device stayed until a little
- 3:24Speaker 1: later after 10 a.m. 9.05 a.m. Pryor asks if Wright
- 3:30Speaker 1: looked at other occasions where Alex may have been near
- 3:33Speaker 1: the Salem Church. There were seven occasions where Alex was
- 3:36Speaker 1: in the area and other times where he may have
- 3:38Speaker 1: passed by. I mean, is there any doubt that Alex Cox...
- 3:43Speaker 1: was involved all the way up to his ugly-ass beaver
- 3:45Speaker 1: face with all of this? 9.07 a.m. Pryor has nothing further.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Blake will now redirect. 9.08 a.m. Blake asked Wright when
- 3:54Speaker 1: he became involved in the investigation. November 27th, 2019. She
- 3:59Speaker 1: shows the GPS image of the Salem LDS Church. Blake
- 4:02Speaker 1: asks if there's any indication. Alex knew anyone living in
- 4:05Speaker 1: the area of the church other than Chad. Wright says no. 9.11 a.m.
- 4:11Speaker 1: The distance from the church to the Daybell home is 2.6 miles.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Wright never discovered any connection between Alex Cox and Tammy
- 4:19Speaker 1: Daybell besides Chad Daybell. 9.13 a.m. Wright personally did not
- 4:24Speaker 1: review any location data in relation to Chad and Lori.
- 4:28Speaker 1: He says it's possible other investigators would have. FBI agent
- 4:32Speaker 1: Nick Balance would have been tasked with looking at those things.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Wright only reviewed the one device from Alex. 9.15 a.m.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Blake asks if there was any indication Melanie Gibb or
- 4:42Speaker 1: David Warwick were in Idaho on September 8th or 9th.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Wright says not that he's aware of. Blake asks Wright's
- 4:49Speaker 1: beliefs on whether Tylee came back from West Yellowstone. Wright
- 4:53Speaker 1: says Tylee likely returned from her residence or to her residence,
- 4:56Speaker 1: excuse me. Tylee was living in apartment 175 with her mom. 9.17 a.m.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Blake shows a slide displaying Alex's device whereabouts on September 9th.
- 5:07Speaker 1: It shows the device went from apartment 107 went to
- 5:10Speaker 1: the Daybell residence, stayed there approximately two and a half hours,
- 5:14Speaker 1: and then went to Del Taco. 9.19 a.m. Blake asks
- 5:18Speaker 1: about the longer driveway behind the Daybell home. The shorter
- 5:21Speaker 1: driveway is in the front of the house. There is
- 5:24Speaker 1: also a gate on one corner of the property that
- 5:26Speaker 1: is wide enough for a vehicle to access the property.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Del Taco, huh? Yeah, I guess killing kids, it works
- 5:33Speaker 1: up quite the appetite. 9.21 a.m. Blake shows the raccoon
- 5:37Speaker 1: text sent September 9th at 11.53am. Chad was at his
- 5:41Speaker 1: home when he sent the text around the same time
- 5:43Speaker 1: Alex Cox's device was at the property. Blake asks Wright
- 5:47Speaker 1: if they were ever looking for a raccoon. He says no.
- 5:51Speaker 1: They were looking for missing children. Those children were found
- 5:54Speaker 1: on Daybell's property. Blake has nothing further. 9.23am. Wright's released
- 5:59Speaker 1: from his subpoena. He leaves the witness stand and sits
- 6:02Speaker 1: in the gallery. Rexburg Detective Ray Hermosillo will now testify.
- 6:06Speaker 1: He was the first witness called to the stand in
- 6:09Speaker 1: this trial. 9.25 a.m. Rob Wood is questioning Hermosillo. He
- 6:14Speaker 1: asked when Lori Vallow was arrested. February 20th of 2020.
- 6:18Speaker 1: She ended up in the Madison County Jail and Wood
- 6:21Speaker 1: asked about the phone system the jail has for inmates
- 6:24Speaker 1: to use to talk with others. It's called Telemate. Hermosillo
- 6:27Speaker 1: listened to phone calls between Chad and Lori. Every day,
- 6:31Speaker 1: we listened to multiple phone calls between Chad and Lori.
- 6:34Speaker 1: We were trying to get any information on the whereabouts
- 6:36Speaker 1: of JJ and Tylee at the time. Chad and Lori
- 6:39Speaker 1: spoke with each other 10 to 12 times a day.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Why did they need to use that system? I thought
- 6:44Speaker 1: that they had portals that they could contact each other with. Oh,
- 6:47Speaker 1: that was bullshit? Not shocking considering we're dealing with two
- 6:51Speaker 1: gigantic bullshit artists. 9.28 a.m. Wood moves to admit an
- 6:55Speaker 1: exhibit of a jail call between Chad and Lori. Pryor
- 6:59Speaker 1: wants to have the entire call played. Wood says he
- 7:01Speaker 1: does not intend to play it in its entirety. Boyce
- 7:04Speaker 1: says if Pryor wants the entire call played, he can
- 7:07Speaker 1: on cross. 9.32 a.m. Wood plays the call. We hear
- 7:11Speaker 1: Lori talking about the second coming. Chad says that the
- 7:14Speaker 1: new Jerusalem will start small, but grow exponentially. They are
- 7:18Speaker 1: doing all they can to destroy one of the key families,
- 7:21Speaker 1: but they're not going to. Chad says. Lori says she
- 7:24Speaker 1: knows too much. She can't deny it. Chad says, I
- 7:28Speaker 1: texted Ray. Wood stops the recording and asks who Ray is.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Hermosillo says Alex often went by Ray Lamar. He had
- 7:35Speaker 1: a Gmail account, raylamar at gmail.com. This call was made
- 7:40Speaker 1: on June 8th, 2020. Alex was dead at the time. 9.34 a.m.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Wood asks if Chad talked about being able to communicate
- 7:49Speaker 1: with people who are dead. Chad often spoke about his
- 7:52Speaker 1: ability to see and speak with people On the other
- 7:55Speaker 1: side of the veil, Hermosillo says, Wood continues the call. 9.36 a.m.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Chad says he asked Ray what they talked about. He
- 8:03Speaker 1: was very optimistic, Chad says. Lori asks about Ray being
- 8:06Speaker 1: optimistic or Chad being optimistic. Chad says, He said stick
- 8:11Speaker 1: with it. Chad says he remembers last summer one of
- 8:13Speaker 1: his son's friends moved into a trailer in their driveway
- 8:16Speaker 1: because they were going to build a house by the
- 8:18Speaker 1: end of the year. He says they are still there.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Chad says it takes forever. Lori says, We didn't know
- 8:24Speaker 1: when we dug in your backyard. We were going to
- 8:27Speaker 1: find whatever. Lori talks about a show she's been watching,
- 8:30Speaker 1: about a pool installation, and how the project is taking forever.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Lori and Chad giggle back and forth. Imagine being on
- 8:38Speaker 1: trial for your life or waiting for the trial of
- 8:40Speaker 1: your life, and this is the content of your telephone
- 8:43Speaker 1: conversations with your co-conspirator. 9.39 a.m. Lori asks what Ray
- 8:49Speaker 1: said when Chad texted him. Chad said he just laughed.
- 8:52Speaker 1: He said it will all work out. He didn't want
- 8:55Speaker 1: me to say he misses you, but he's not far
- 8:57Speaker 1: from contact. We can text him whenever we want. Lori
- 9:00Speaker 1: said she can't text anybody. Chad has to text for her.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Chad says he will text him back. Chad says he's optimistic.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I want to go visit him and grab him by
- 9:09Speaker 1: the throat and say, really? Lori asks if he can
- 9:12Speaker 1: make them a guarantee because they did make their down payment.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Chad says he knows you pretty well. He just laughs.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Chad giggles. 9.41 a.m. Chad says he asked Ray about
- 9:23Speaker 1: the video project. Wood pauses the recording and asks about
- 9:26Speaker 1: the video. Summer Shifflett, Lori, and Alex's sister had posted
- 9:30Speaker 1: a video online about Alex after he died. The recording
- 9:33Speaker 1: continues to play. Lori and Chad talking about completing their
- 9:37Speaker 1: project on time and if they get a bonus. Chad
- 9:40Speaker 1: says it was good to talk. I haven't texted him
- 9:43Speaker 1: in a while. Chad tells Lori to write down some
- 9:45Speaker 1: questions and mail them off to see if he will
- 9:48Speaker 1: respond to them. 9.43 a.m. Chad tells Lori he's still
- 9:53Speaker 1: very interested and hasn't forgotten about us. He's involved in
- 9:56Speaker 1: this latest batch. Lori asks Chad to find out about
- 10:00Speaker 1: the 3% aspect that they would be trouble. You know
- 10:04Speaker 1: exactly what I'm talking about, Lori says. Chad responds, I do,
- 10:07Speaker 1: I do. She then says, you know what I'm talking about?
- 10:10Speaker 1: He says, I do. 9.46am. Lori asks why it's 100%
- 10:15Speaker 1: instead of a 3% chance of having problems. Chad says
- 10:19Speaker 1: he was somewhat right In that, but the other aspect
- 10:21Speaker 1: was other people. It was a combination. Chad says Lori
- 10:25Speaker 1: says her faith in those kinds of guarantees are lower.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Me too, Chad says. Lori says beggars can't be choosers.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I get that. I don't get to pick the colors. 9.48 a.m.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Chad says he thought back on the entire scenario. Chad
- 10:39Speaker 1: says he said it wouldn't be a problem. Lori mentions
- 10:42Speaker 1: the blueprints and the plans. Lori asked Chad if he
- 10:45Speaker 1: thinks it was meant to have complications or go that direction.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Chad says, at some point, yeah. Lori, then we should
- 10:52Speaker 1: have said this is a 99% chance that we are
- 10:55Speaker 1: going to have trouble with this spoil. That's all we
- 10:58Speaker 1: are asking. Could this potentially be good, or do we
- 11:01Speaker 1: have to fill it with sand? Chad says, we sense
- 11:04Speaker 1: we shouldn't take it lightly, and I don't think we did.
- 11:07Speaker 1: We only discussed the matter, the trouble, once, and I
- 11:10Speaker 1: thought we cut it off, and did well, and now
- 11:13Speaker 1: that problem is kind of causing its own trouble for itself.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Lori says, There are other things in the project where
- 11:19Speaker 1: we're going to end up going back over it, and
- 11:22Speaker 1: I could have easily done or been inspired to do
- 11:25Speaker 1: to avoid a lot of the issues that are going
- 11:27Speaker 1: to come up with that. 9.51 a.m. Lori asked Chad
- 11:31Speaker 1: if he thinks it was meant to go this way.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He says, I do. Minor changes here and there, but overall,
- 11:37Speaker 1: this is all part of the blueprint. I just wish
- 11:39Speaker 1: it hadn't been. But I'm thinking of previous blueprints where
- 11:42Speaker 1: the people weren't either. You know, Ray's in that contractor
- 11:45Speaker 1: position for a reason. and he's not going to drop
- 11:48Speaker 1: us for another project, Lori responds. Can't he forcibly use
- 11:52Speaker 1: a hand and punch some people in the face to
- 11:54Speaker 1: get things done? Some people in particular, like the 3%-er person,
- 11:58Speaker 1: Chad says. I don't think he wants to be violent,
- 12:00Speaker 1: Lori says. I'm not saying be violent. Just get their attention. 9.53 a.m.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Lori says in the beginning, going back over the whole
- 12:09Speaker 1: blueprint and all the things, a lot of the stuff
- 12:11Speaker 1: could have been avoided with minor tweaks, and I don't
- 12:14Speaker 1: know why it had to go down the road with...
- 12:16Speaker 1: Where we are now in the project. Chad says, I know.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I don't fully understand. I think we would text you
- 12:22Speaker 1: back or write you back, Lori says. What I need
- 12:25Speaker 1: from you is the project is going to be finished.
- 12:28Speaker 1: And everything is going to be fine. And it's going
- 12:30Speaker 1: to work out. Chad says, that's what he said. Lori says,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I need you to tell me that every day. Chad says, okay, sweet,
- 12:38Speaker 1: lovely Lola. Things are going to work out. Not just
- 12:41Speaker 1: because he says so, but because I know so. It's
- 12:44Speaker 1: a marvelous plan. Lori asks, how do you know? Chad responds,
- 12:48Speaker 1: it's been shown to me, honey. I've seen beautiful eyes
- 12:51Speaker 1: filled with tears, and I've seen your wonderful body dance
- 12:54Speaker 1: to heavenly songs. What an absolute fool. And to anyone
- 12:59Speaker 1: out here thinking that Chad Daybell was just getting led
- 13:02Speaker 1: around by his dick, you're crazy. This dude was a
- 13:05Speaker 1: willing participant, and not only that, was helping drive the ship. 9.56 a.m.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Hermosillo says in multiple calls Lori asked Chad for reassurances.
- 13:15Speaker 1: We return to the call. Chad says it'll be the Eurythmics,
- 13:19Speaker 1: the band, not two solo careers. Chad says he has
- 13:22Speaker 1: absolute confirmation. He tells Lori her value is tremendous and
- 13:27Speaker 1: needed in every way. I know that is a fact.
- 13:30Speaker 1: You are needed, my love. I think you underestimate yourself.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And I'm not trying to give you a big head
- 13:35Speaker 1: or ego because you don't have one. You just are
- 13:37Speaker 1: spectacular and the Lord is going to use those talents.
- 13:40Speaker 1: You are on earth at this time for that purpose.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Chad says he will try to call them back so
- 13:45Speaker 1: they can pray. The call is over. Wood has no
- 13:48Speaker 1: further questions. 10 a.m. Morning break. All right, so we're
- 13:53Speaker 1: going to break here as well. And in the next episode,
- 13:55Speaker 1: we're going to pick up where we left off. All
- 13:58Speaker 1: of the information that goes with this episode can be
- 14:00Speaker 1: found in the description box. What's up, everyone? And welcome
- 14:04Speaker 1: back to the program. In this episode, we're getting right
- 14:07Speaker 1: back to the Chad Daybell trial. And we're going to
- 14:10Speaker 1: pick up where we left off with day number 24. 10.36 a.m.
- 14:16Speaker 1: We're back in the courtroom and attorneys are at their table.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Pryor is reviewing an exhibit and chatting with Lindsay Blake.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Hermosillo is on the stand. Boys and jurors are not
- 14:25Speaker 1: seated yet. 10.44 a.m. Hermosillo has stepped down from the
- 14:30Speaker 1: stand and we are waiting on the judge. Attorneys are
- 14:33Speaker 1: talking back and forth with each other. Chad is chatting
- 14:36Speaker 1: with Pryor. 10.46 a.m. Boyce is back on the bench.
- 14:40Speaker 1: He says the morning recess was extended for administrative matters
- 14:44Speaker 1: and prosecutors have a proposed exhibit for the next witness.
- 14:48Speaker 1: For efficiency purposes, Boyce wants to hear about the exhibit
- 14:51Speaker 1: now and make a ruling whether it can be admitted. 10.48 a.m.
- 14:56Speaker 1: To be clear, this is an exhibit for the witness
- 14:58Speaker 1: after Hermosillo. The exhibit is a PowerPoint and prior objects
- 15:02Speaker 1: to one of the slides in the exhibit. 10.49 a.m.
- 15:06Speaker 1: The issue is with slide number 18. It references an
- 15:09Speaker 1: internet search done by the Homer J. Maximus account searching
- 15:13Speaker 1: for a gun on October 9th. There are two images
- 15:16Speaker 1: on the slide, an overview of the Daybell property with
- 15:19Speaker 1: a measurement from a tree on the property and a
- 15:21Speaker 1: measurement from the end of the driveway. 10.50 a.m. Pryor
- 15:25Speaker 1: objects and says there isn't any relevance in having a
- 15:28Speaker 1: measurement at the end of a long driveway. He argues
- 15:31Speaker 1: they are taking an arbitrary point and connecting it to
- 15:33Speaker 1: the site where J.J. was buried. There is no relevance
- 15:36Speaker 1: to this. It's merely designed to just inflame the jury
- 15:40Speaker 1: and try to support their so-called theory that the paintball
- 15:43Speaker 1: gun was something other than a paintball gun. 10.53 a.m.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Blake argues the driveway is an issue and a significant
- 15:50Speaker 1: amount of time was spent during the trial discussing it.
- 15:53Speaker 1: She says there has been testimony of the shooting ranges
- 15:56Speaker 1: and distances. She says her main argument is given the
- 15:59Speaker 1: questioning by defense that Alex used the shooting ranges for
- 16:03Speaker 1: hunting practice or that Chad may have been the intended victim,
- 16:06Speaker 1: it should be admitted. 10.55 a.m. Boyce agrees with the
- 16:10Speaker 1: defense that the exhibit is problematic because the measurement goes
- 16:14Speaker 1: from the burial site to the driveway. He says it
- 16:16Speaker 1: was not the driveway referenced when testimony was provided about
- 16:20Speaker 1: the alleged attempted shooting. Boyce believes this could confuse the
- 16:23Speaker 1: jury and partially sustains the objection. The maps and property
- 16:27Speaker 1: measurements are permitted, but the top left part of the
- 16:30Speaker 1: exhibit can't be admitted. 10.59 a.m. Jurors are being brought in.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Hermosillo will return to the stand for cross-examination by Pryor. 11.02 a.m.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Jurors are seated. Pryor asks about the recording between Chad
- 16:44Speaker 1: and Lori and asks if there was information about Chad
- 16:47Speaker 1: needing to build a village for the end of times.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Hermosillo doesn't recall a village, but recalls putting up tents.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Pryor asks about a safe space when the second coming occurs.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Hermosillo isn't aware. 11.03 a.m. Pryor asks about Lori saying,
- 17:03Speaker 1: I don't get to pick the colors of what I want.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Pryor asks if that suggests them talking about building buildings.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Hermosillo says no. Pryor asks if anything in the discussion
- 17:12Speaker 1: is actually about building a structure. Hermosillo says no. 11.04 a.m.
- 17:18Speaker 1: This call was on June 8th, 2020. At 9.16 p.m.,
- 17:22Speaker 1: less than 12 hours later, police were at Chad's house
- 17:25Speaker 1: searching his property for JJ and Tylee. 11.06 a.m. Pryor
- 17:29Speaker 1: asks about Chad having a refuge in Rexburg in the future.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Hermosillo says he can't testify about what Mr. Daybell planned
- 17:37Speaker 1: to do in the future. Pryor moves to admit to exhibits.
- 17:40Speaker 1: 1110 a.m. Pryor displays an image showing items found in
- 17:44Speaker 1: Lori's garage. The picture shows three rolls of duct tape,
- 17:47Speaker 1: a fire lighter, several spray cans of something, maybe a
- 17:51Speaker 1: substance to clean guns with. 1113 a.m. We now see
- 17:55Speaker 1: an image of a knife and a saw. There is
- 17:57Speaker 1: also Dremel. a tool that is used to drill out
- 18:00Speaker 1: certain things. These items were found in the garage. 11.15 a.m.
- 18:05Speaker 1: The next photo shows some tools and a tarp. Another
- 18:07Speaker 1: picture shows a bucket and gloves. These photos were taken
- 18:11Speaker 1: by law enforcement. 11.16 a.m. The next photo shows a tarp.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Prior asks Hermosillo if he remembers how many tarps were
- 18:18Speaker 1: found in Alex's garage. Hermosillo doesn't remember. Prior asks if
- 18:22Speaker 1: it would be fair to say there were several. Hermosillo
- 18:25Speaker 1: says he doesn't know. 11.19 a.m. Another photo shows a
- 18:29Speaker 1: bunch of items in the garage, various chemicals, buckets, etc.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Prior asks Hermosillo if he can see anything that resembles cement.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Hermosillo says not that he can tell. Another photo shows
- 18:42Speaker 1: a lot of black and white plastic in a clear tub. 11.20 a.m.
- 18:46Speaker 1: The next picture shows a pair of bolt cutters. The
- 18:49Speaker 1: next image shows a bag of concrete and several buckets. 11.21 a.m.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Pryor says a significant number of knives, weapons, and guns
- 18:58Speaker 1: were found in the garage. He asks Hermosillo when and
- 19:01Speaker 1: where all the guns and knives were purchased. Hermosillo says
- 19:04Speaker 1: he personally did not know. Pryor says the purchases could
- 19:07Speaker 1: have taken place in Arizona or in Idaho. Hermosillo says correct. 11.22 a.m.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Pryor has nothing further. Wood has no redirect. Hermosillo is
- 19:17Speaker 1: done testifying and is released from the subpoena. 11.24 a.m.
- 19:22Speaker 1: The next witness is Attorney General Investigator Nicholas Edwards. Boyce
- 19:26Speaker 1: says there's a brief issue that needs to be taken
- 19:29Speaker 1: up outside the presence of the jury, and the jurors
- 19:32Speaker 1: are asked to leave the courtroom briefly. Edwards apparently heard
- 19:35Speaker 1: portions of the James and Elena story on the radio.
- 19:38Speaker 1: He was aware of the substance and heard nothing new.
- 19:41Speaker 1: He says it won't affect his ability to testify. Pryor
- 19:44Speaker 1: has no objection to the witness. Boyce says the witness
- 19:47Speaker 1: is fine to testify. 1129. a.m. Edwards has worked for
- 19:52Speaker 1: the Attorney General for five years. He worked for the
- 19:54Speaker 1: Pocatello Police for 15 years before joining the AG. 11.32 a.m.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Edwards worked in SWAT and did sniper training in Pocatello.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Blake is questioning him and asks if Edwards worked closely
- 20:07Speaker 1: with rifles, including assault rifles. He has experience with rifles
- 20:11Speaker 1: as he serves in the National Guard. Edwards also used
- 20:14Speaker 1: paintball guns personally for recreation, but he has also trained
- 20:18Speaker 1: with them. 11.33 a.m. In April of 2020, Edwards and
- 20:23Speaker 1: his office received a request to assist Fremont County and
- 20:26Speaker 1: multiple agencies in investigating the deaths of J.J., Tylee, Tammy,
- 20:31Speaker 1: and Charles Vallow. A large part of Edwards' investigation was
- 20:34Speaker 1: focused on Tammy Daybell's death. 11.35 a.m. Edwards conducted interviews
- 20:40Speaker 1: and reviewed phone data. Blake moves to admit a PowerPoint
- 20:43Speaker 1: exhibit showing Edwards' findings. 11.37 a.m. The first slide shows
- 20:48Speaker 1: a timeline of events created by Edwards. 11.38 a.m. Edwards'
- 20:53Speaker 1: timeline begins when Chad and Lori meet on October 26, 2018,
- 20:57Speaker 1: in St. George, Utah. Chad's Google account searched for Lori Vallow,
- 21:02Speaker 1: Charles Vallow, and Lori Vallow photos on October 30, 2018.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Lori lived in Mesa, Arizona at the time. 11.39 a.m.
- 21:12Speaker 1: On November 16th and 17th, 2018, Chad traveled to Mesa
- 21:16Speaker 1: and stayed at Lori's home for a Preparing the People conference.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Chad traveled back to Arizona on January 6th through the 10th, 2019,
- 21:23Speaker 1: and divorce proceedings between Charles and Lori started February 8th, 2019. 11.41 a.m.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Edwards never found any indication that Chad was planning to
- 21:35Speaker 1: divorce Tammy from March 19th Through March 21st, 2019, Chad
- 21:40Speaker 1: traveled to Arizona with plane tickets that had been purchased
- 21:43Speaker 1: by Lori. Charles and Tammy were still alive at this time.
- 21:46Speaker 1: On April 2nd through the 4th, 2019, Lori traveled to
- 21:50Speaker 1: Idaho Falls. From May 5th through May 7th, Chad and
- 21:53Speaker 1: Lori conducted separate internet searches for Malachite rings. So what
- 21:58Speaker 1: they're doing here is establishing the whole timeline, right? Or
- 22:01Speaker 1: I should say, not even establishing it at this point,
- 22:04Speaker 1: but hammering it down. And what this is doing is
- 22:07Speaker 1: showing the jury exactly what these two were up to.
- 22:10Speaker 1: And all of it is documented by these conversations and
- 22:14Speaker 1: their behavior. And when you add it all together with
- 22:17Speaker 1: all of the other evidence that has been presented, what
- 22:20Speaker 1: you have basically is a gift-wrapped conviction. 11.42 a.m. On
- 22:26Speaker 1: June 29th, 2019, Charles sent Tammy an email regarding the
- 22:30Speaker 1: ongoing relationship between their spouses and requests contact. Charles also
- 22:35Speaker 1: sent Chad an email confronting him regarding the affair. 11.43 a.m.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Charles was killed less than two weeks after the email,
- 22:44Speaker 1: on July 11, 2019. On July 2, Charles told Lori
- 22:48Speaker 1: he was going to Idaho Falls to meet with Tammy.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Lori texted Charles, She won't see you. She's my friend.
- 22:54Speaker 1: She won't listen to you. Go ahead. You are ridiculous.
- 22:57Speaker 1: There is no indication that Charles ever traveled to Idaho
- 23:00Speaker 1: to meet Tammy. 11.44 a.m. Edwards reads some text messages
- 23:05Speaker 1: between Chad and Lori from July 13th, 14th, and 15th.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Chad says he's going to bed to snuggle tightly with you.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Another message, I need so badly to just gently kiss
- 23:14Speaker 1: you for hours. Another message, I would likely lead to
- 23:18Speaker 1: other activities. Lori replies, likely or luckily. Chad replies, it
- 23:22Speaker 1: would luckily lead to nakedness. The thought of these two
- 23:26Speaker 1: naked is enough honestly for me to pour acid in
- 23:29Speaker 1: my eyes. Talk about PTSD. Seeing Scafusa and the Stunad naked?
- 23:36Speaker 1: Just too much to even think about for me. 11.46 a.m.
- 23:40Speaker 1: There are more romantic messages with lots of fire and
- 23:42Speaker 1: heart emojis. Lori sends a message on July 15th saying
- 23:46Speaker 1: that she's taking off from Vegas and wishing Chad were
- 23:49Speaker 1: on the other side of the flight. 11.48 a.m. On
- 23:53Speaker 1: July 18th, Lori texts Chad about Charles changing his life
- 23:56Speaker 1: insurance policy beneficiary to Kay Woodcock. She says it was
- 24:00Speaker 1: probably Ned before we got rid of him. Ned was
- 24:03Speaker 1: the evil spirit inside Charles, Chad and Laurie said. Edwards
- 24:06Speaker 1: reads more messages from July 18th and 22nd. 11.50am. Blake
- 24:12Speaker 1: asks Edwards where Chad and Laurie were married. In Hawaii.
- 24:16Speaker 1: She asks if Tylee and JJ were present. They were not.
- 24:19Speaker 1: The next slide shows a text from Chad to Laurie
- 24:22Speaker 1: on July 26th. It's the Harry Potter text. Tonight I
- 24:25Speaker 1: figured out who I feel like. I'm a grown up
- 24:27Speaker 1: version of Harry Potter who has to live with the
- 24:29Speaker 1: Dudleys in his little space under the stairs. Every few weeks,
- 24:33Speaker 1: I get to escape and have amazing adventures with my
- 24:36Speaker 1: goddess lover, but then I have to return to my
- 24:39Speaker 1: place under the stairs feeling trapped. But I sense permanent
- 24:42Speaker 1: freedom is coming. Oh, I bet you do. As you
- 24:45Speaker 1: guys hatched this plan to kill your wife and Lori's kids,
- 24:49Speaker 1: I'm sure that you sensed your freedom was coming. But
- 24:52Speaker 1: what you didn't plan for, you dumb prick, is the
- 24:54Speaker 1: fact that you're not a prophet, you don't speak to
- 24:57Speaker 1: the heavens, and your bitch ass was never gonna get
- 25:00Speaker 1: away with it. 11.52 a.m. Edwards reads a text from
- 25:03Speaker 1: Chad to Lori on July 30th. He says they might
- 25:07Speaker 1: need to release a little steam when they talk. He
- 25:09Speaker 1: talks about using a chart to determine the light and
- 25:12Speaker 1: dark percentages of people. He wrote that Tammy was feeling
- 25:15Speaker 1: lightheaded as if her body and spirit were being separated.
- 25:20Speaker 1: 1154 a.m. In August of 2019, Chad traveled to Arizona
- 25:24Speaker 1: to stay with Lori. On August 14th, 2019, Lori took
- 25:28Speaker 1: a screenshot of two Malachite wedding bands, We now see
- 25:31Speaker 1: a slide that shows Zulema past in his travel to
- 25:34Speaker 1: Rexburg on September 15th, 2019. Chad texted Lori, please have
- 25:39Speaker 1: Zulema send a message to me that she's in Rigby
- 25:42Speaker 1: and wanted to see if I could come listen to
- 25:44Speaker 1: her talk tonight about her trip to Chile. Lori sends
- 25:47Speaker 1: the message to Zulema. Zulema sends a message to Chad
- 25:51Speaker 1: asking if he could come hear her speak. He responds
- 25:54Speaker 1: that he can come. 11.57 a.m. On October 3rd, 2019,
- 25:59Speaker 1: Chad texts Lori, Good night, Angel Lily. So excited to
- 26:02Speaker 1: go on our date. Chad texts her the next morning,
- 26:06Speaker 1: Dreaming of caressing you in bed. I adore you. And
- 26:09Speaker 1: whatever the hell that word is, you. On October 4th
- 26:12Speaker 1: and 5th, Chad urges Tammy to go visit her family
- 26:15Speaker 1: in Springville, Utah. Oh, I bet you did. Let me
- 26:18Speaker 1: get a little bit of time here with the Scafusa alone. 11.58 a.m.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Tammy makes it to Utah. On October 4th, Chad texts Lori,
- 26:27Speaker 1: that he is eager to see her soon, and he's
- 26:29Speaker 1: trying to hasten her departure. Same day, Chad texts Lori,
- 26:32Speaker 1: it's dragging on here, but I should be at your
- 26:34Speaker 1: house around 11.15. I want to talk to you first,
- 26:37Speaker 1: of course, so maybe tell her I can come and
- 26:40Speaker 1: talk from 12.15 to 1. Lori texts Alex, we are
- 26:43Speaker 1: supposed to go on a real date tonight, but we
- 26:45Speaker 1: are discussing it. Perhaps an evening at home would be better,
- 26:48Speaker 1: so we are not out and about. I'll let you know,
- 26:51Speaker 1: but you could come and sing with us after your shower.
- 26:55Speaker 1: There were three deleted messages on Lori's iCloud account from
- 26:58Speaker 1: Chad on October 5th, 12.01pm. The next screen shows several
- 27:02Speaker 1: texts from Lori Vallow to Chad Daybell before the attempted
- 27:05Speaker 1: shooting of Tammy Daybell. The first message is, Hello sweet angel,
- 27:09Speaker 1: big news about Tammy. The short version is that she
- 27:12Speaker 1: has been switched. Tammy is in limbo. A level 3
- 27:15Speaker 1: demonic named Viola. Chad says Samantha, Tammy's sister, and the
- 27:20Speaker 1: evil spirit along with her 12-year-old daughter Chad says he
- 27:24Speaker 1: has communicated with Tammy, and Tammy is frustrated about it.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Chad tells Lori to check and get confirmation. Chad says
- 27:31Speaker 1: Samantha is much like Brandon Boudreau, Lori's former nephew-in-law, has
- 27:35Speaker 1: been his biggest obstacle, and never comes to see them
- 27:38Speaker 1: in Idaho. 12.04 p.m., lunch break, back at 1. All right,
- 27:43Speaker 1: we're going to wrap up here, and in the next episode,
- 27:45Speaker 1: we'll finish off day number 24 of the Chad Daybell trial.
- 27:50Speaker 1: All of the information that goes with this episode can
- 27:52Speaker 1: be found in the description box. What's up, everyone, and
- 27:56Speaker 1: welcome back to the program. In this episode, we're getting
- 27:59Speaker 1: right back to day number 24 of the Chad Daybell trial.
- 28:03Speaker 1: And to do that, once again, we're using eastidahonews.com. And
- 28:08Speaker 1: the author of this article is Nate Eaton. 104 p.m.,
- 28:12Speaker 1: back in the courtroom. Chad just walked into the courtroom.
- 28:15Speaker 1: He does not have leg shackles, but appears to be
- 28:17Speaker 1: wearing an ankle monitor. Voices on the bench and jurors
- 28:21Speaker 1: are in their seats. Blake will continue questioning Edwards. 1.12 p.m.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Blake continues with the timeline. On October 7th, Alex signed
- 28:31Speaker 1: into the St. Anthony gun range. On October 8th, he
- 28:34Speaker 1: conducted an internet search for 6.5 Grendel drop from 100
- 28:39Speaker 1: to 200 yards, then drop from 100 to 300 yards.
- 28:43Speaker 1: On October 8th, Alex signed into the St. Anthony gun range.
- 28:47Speaker 1: He also conducted a search that day. for the Rhode
- 28:50Speaker 1: Island area code. 1.14 p.m. On October 9th, 2019, at 9.15 p.m.,
- 28:58Speaker 1: a 401 number from a phone is used by Chad Daybell.
- 29:01Speaker 1: That phone to this day has not been found. Edward says,
- 29:05Speaker 1: Chad's real phone had a 208 number. Alex had a
- 29:08Speaker 1: burner phone with a 334 area code. His real phone
- 29:11Speaker 1: had a 480 area code. There were 90 calls and
- 29:15Speaker 1: text messages between Alex, Chad, Zulema, and Lori between 9.21 a.m.
- 29:20Speaker 1: on October 9th and 2.28 a.m. on October 10th, 1.16 p.m.
- 29:25Speaker 1: 15 text messages were sent between Alex and Chad between 7.13 p.m.
- 29:30Speaker 1: and 8.43 p.m. that night. Lori and Zulema were in
- 29:34Speaker 1: Arizona that night doing a casting ceremony. Four text messages
- 29:38Speaker 1: were sent between Chad and Alex between 10.28 p.m. and 10.29 p.m.
- 29:43Speaker 1: that night, 1.17 p.m. On October 9th, 2019, there were
- 29:48Speaker 1: text messages between Chad's burner phone and Alex between 1.19
- 29:53Speaker 1: and 1.22 p.m. Both devices were near Alex's apartment at
- 29:56Speaker 1: the time. With Chad's real phone, there were eight text
- 30:00Speaker 1: messages during the same time frame. The devices were near
- 30:03Speaker 1: Alex's apartment. Between 2.40 and 3.18 p.m., Alex's device traveled
- 30:10Speaker 1: to Sportsman's Warehouse in Idaho Falls. The purchase happens at 4.11 p.m.
- 30:15Speaker 1: We see a slide showing the items that were purchased.
- 30:18Speaker 1: That same day at 4.51 p.m., Alex's device goes to
- 30:22Speaker 1: Fremont County and drives past the Daybell residence. Alex did
- 30:26Speaker 1: not know anyone in the vicinity other than Chad, Edwards says. 1.21 p.m.
- 30:32Speaker 1: A 911 call was made from Joseph Murray, Tammy's son-in-law,
- 30:35Speaker 1: about an attempted shooting at 9.41 p.m. In an email,
- 30:39Speaker 1: Tammy told her son Mark the incident occurred at 9.15 p.m.
- 30:43Speaker 1: The event was not called in immediately. Blake shows a
- 30:46Speaker 1: photo of the Daybell home and a GPS overview image.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Edwards points out the two driveways on the property. 1.23 p.m.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Tammy emailed her son Mark on October 13th, 2019. She
- 30:58Speaker 1: wrote that she was coming home from clogging and pulled
- 31:00Speaker 1: into the driveway. Someone was at the back of the
- 31:03Speaker 1: car and she thought it was dad there to help
- 31:05Speaker 1: carry things in. She said it was a masked man
- 31:07Speaker 1: and she yelled, what are you doing? Tammy says she
- 31:10Speaker 1: thought about hitting him with her clogging shoes. She yelled
- 31:13Speaker 1: for Chad and ran in the house. Tammy initially identified
- 31:17Speaker 1: the weapon as a rifle, not a paintball gun. 1.25 p.m.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Blake asks if anything could resemble a hopper on a rifle.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Edwards says a scope could. Edwards said the individual kept
- 31:28Speaker 1: pulling the trigger and pointing the gun at her. 1.26 p.m.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Blake shows two guns on the screen. It's Alex's 6.5mm
- 31:37Speaker 1: Grendel AR. The bottom image is a paintball gun. Edwards
- 31:41Speaker 1: points out where the hopper is on the paintball gun.
- 31:44Speaker 1: On the firearm, he points out where the scope is.
- 31:47Speaker 1: They're in similar places. Edwards noticed the front of the
- 31:50Speaker 1: AR has been modified to something that could be attached
- 31:53Speaker 1: to the front of the rifle. Edwards says that could
- 31:56Speaker 1: have been a suppressor. If a suppressor is on a gun,
- 31:59Speaker 1: it would make a whooshing sound. 1.29 p.m. Edwards points
- 32:04Speaker 1: out a gap between the lower and upper receiver of
- 32:06Speaker 1: the gun. He says there are two pins on the weapon,
- 32:09Speaker 1: a front and rear takedown pin. Those pins keep the
- 32:12Speaker 1: weapon together. He says if you take the rear takedown
- 32:15Speaker 1: pin out, it comes apart. Just turning the gun caused
- 32:18Speaker 1: the rear pin to come out. It didn't take him
- 32:20Speaker 1: anything to do that. Most weapons, those pins sit secure
- 32:24Speaker 1: and tight, Edwards says. If the pins become loose, the
- 32:27Speaker 1: gun could still fire, but likely only one round, even
- 32:30Speaker 1: if someone kept pulling the trigger, Edwards says. 1.32pm. There
- 32:34Speaker 1: are six text messages between Chad and Lori between 5pm
- 32:38Speaker 1: and 12.28pm on October 9th. Edwards lays out the events
- 32:43Speaker 1: of the evening of October 9th. While the Fremont County
- 32:47Speaker 1: deputy is at the house, there are texts between Chad
- 32:49Speaker 1: and Alex and between Chad and Lori. Alex calls Zulema
- 32:53Speaker 1: and has a 38-minute phone call with her at 11.28 p.m. 1.34 p.m.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Edwards never reviewed the contents of the text messages. Alex
- 33:03Speaker 1: conducted an internet search on October 9th on how to
- 33:06Speaker 1: clean an AR. On October 11th, he performed a variety
- 33:10Speaker 1: of fun searches online. A few included what caliber would
- 33:13Speaker 1: penetrate a windshield, 2008 Dodge Dakota steel body thickness and
- 33:18Speaker 1: what gauge steel are the doors on a Dodge Dakota
- 33:21Speaker 1: made of? And I'm sure all of that's just a coincidence, right?
- 33:24Speaker 1: That he was looking up all of that information about
- 33:27Speaker 1: the Dodge and then he's not the guy that tried
- 33:29Speaker 1: to kill Tammy, huh? Okay, sure. We all believe that. 1.39 p.m.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Tammy's phone was active playing games at 10.22 p.m. At 11.28 p.m.
- 33:40Speaker 1: a single image is deleted from Tammy's phone. Chad sends
- 33:43Speaker 1: two texts to Lori. at 1134 and 1135 p.m. Alex's
- 33:48Speaker 1: phone leaves the LDS Church parking lot at 1146 p.m.
- 33:52Speaker 1: 141 p.m. The morning after Tammy died on October 20th,
- 33:58Speaker 1: Lori sends a text to Chad saying she is missing
- 34:00Speaker 1: him and she needs him to hold her tight. Lori
- 34:03Speaker 1: asks about him flying to Hawaii and maybe she should
- 34:06Speaker 1: just return home. Chad asks Lori to come home so
- 34:09Speaker 1: they can spend the night together. He says he needs
- 34:11Speaker 1: to take care of the financials Chad tells her to
- 34:14Speaker 1: look for a condo for them. I want to get
- 34:16Speaker 1: working on Lily's workout plan. Tan my skin, grow out
- 34:19Speaker 1: my hair, flatten my stomach. 1.43pm. Lori was in Hawaii
- 34:24Speaker 1: at the time they were texting. The last message from
- 34:27Speaker 1: Chad says, I know exactly how you feel. I'm feeling sad,
- 34:30Speaker 1: but it isn't for the reason everyone thinks. 1.44pm. Lori
- 34:35Speaker 1: asks Chad what is on his agenda. He says he
- 34:38Speaker 1: needs to meet with the mortuary, but he hopes to
- 34:40Speaker 1: talk in a few hours after he gets his parents
- 34:43Speaker 1: to go home. Lori says she is going to Sacramento
- 34:46Speaker 1: to see Lisa. Chad responds, I love you, Lily. Eagerly
- 34:50Speaker 1: anticipating our alone time. 1.46 p.m. Chad and Tammy both
- 34:54Speaker 1: had life insurance policies for $ 300, 000 each that were established
- 34:59Speaker 1: on March 19, 2002. Tammy also had a $ 130, 000 policy
- 35:00Speaker 1: through the school district. Chad received payouts from both policies. 1.47 p.m.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Chad gave Alex the patriarchal blessing on November 24th, 2019.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Edwards reads part of it. The last sentence stuck out
- 35:19Speaker 1: to Edwards where Chad said, You have already assisted us
- 35:22Speaker 1: in many ways that can never be repaid. Yeah, well,
- 35:25Speaker 1: killing some kids probably falls into that category, huh? 1.49 p.m.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Chad searched for Rexburg Police Department on December 1st. He
- 35:34Speaker 1: searched for Tammy's obituary on December 5th. Tammy was exhumed
- 35:38Speaker 1: on December 11th. Alex was found dead on December 12th.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Chad Daybell searched several things on December 16th, including authorization
- 35:47Speaker 1: to disinter a body in Utah. Utah Administrative Code Springville City.
- 35:53Speaker 1: So that's quite the coincidence, right? That Tammy's body gets
- 35:57Speaker 1: exhumed and then the next day Alex Cox just happens
- 36:00Speaker 1: to drop dead. Who's buying that? And I think that
- 36:04Speaker 1: needs to be revisited because I highly doubt that this
- 36:07Speaker 1: dude just happens to die the next day. 1.50 p.m.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Edwards assisted in the search for JJ and Tylee at
- 36:14Speaker 1: Daybell's house. He was present when JJ's body was found.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Blake has no further questions. Pryor will now cross-examine. 1.54 p.m.
- 36:23Speaker 1: We're taking an afternoon recess back at 2.15. 2.17 p.m.
- 36:28Speaker 1: We're back in the courtroom. Pryor will now question Edwards.
- 36:31Speaker 1: He begins by listing the law enforcement agencies that provided
- 36:34Speaker 1: information to Edwards to help prepare his summary. Edwards says
- 36:38Speaker 1: that is correct. 2.20 p.m. Pryor asks if Edwards has
- 36:42Speaker 1: tracked the number of calls between Chad and Lori on
- 36:45Speaker 1: a daily basis. Edwards says no, only on particular days.
- 36:49Speaker 1: He did not look at how frequently Chad and Lori
- 36:51Speaker 1: communicated on a regular daily basis. Edwards focused in on
- 36:56Speaker 1: certain days because that's where the investigation led him. 2.22 p.m.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Pryor says he wants to review the timeline. He lists
- 37:04Speaker 1: off dates of Charles being killed, Laurie moving to Rexburg,
- 37:07Speaker 1: the attempted shooting of Brandon Boudreau, Tammy's death, Chad getting remarried,
- 37:12Speaker 1: and Alex's death are all on the timeline. 2.25 p.m.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Pryor asks if it would be unusual that two people
- 37:19Speaker 1: enamored with each other would Google search each other. Edward
- 37:22Speaker 1: says he doesn't find that unusual. 2.27 p.m. Pryor asks
- 37:26Speaker 1: about the searches Chad and Laurie did for Amalekite Rings.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Edwards doesn't recall why the Malachite was so important. Pryor
- 37:33Speaker 1: asks if he knows when Lori and Chad specifically began
- 37:36Speaker 1: their affair. Edwards says he can't give a specific date. 2.29pm.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Pryor asks if Tammy Daybell blocked Charles Vallow's email to her.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Edwards doesn't know. Pryor asks about the romantic, sexual James
- 37:50Speaker 1: and Elena story. Pryor says this story could have nothing
- 37:53Speaker 1: to do with the murders of three people. Edwards doesn't
- 37:56Speaker 1: agree with that. Pryor asks where it says let's kill
- 37:59Speaker 1: two kids. Edward says you won't find those words. Yeah, well,
- 38:03Speaker 1: that's because as stupid as they are, they know they
- 38:06Speaker 1: can't just come out and say it. So they just
- 38:08Speaker 1: make all of these little innuendos. And they say the
- 38:12Speaker 1: plan or the plot. But we all know what that means.
- 38:16Speaker 1: And after 24 days of testimony, you better believe the
- 38:19Speaker 1: jury knows what it means, too. 2.32 p.m. Pryor shows
- 38:24Speaker 1: a text from July 30th when Chad sent Lori a
- 38:26Speaker 1: text about releasing a little steam. He wrote, anyway... This
- 38:30Speaker 1: is a chart that checks what percentage mortals are still
- 38:33Speaker 1: in their body. It worked for my friend's wife who died,
- 38:36Speaker 1: my neighbor, George Bush, Stanley, etc. I kind of forgot
- 38:40Speaker 1: about it because I've been dealing with zombies and demonic entities.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Pryor asks Edwards if he ever found that chart. Edwards
- 38:46Speaker 1: has not seen that chart. 2.35pm. Pryor asks if the
- 38:50Speaker 1: chart has anything to do with a specific religion. Edwards
- 38:54Speaker 1: says he doesn't know what chart Pryor is talking about
- 38:57Speaker 1: and is not going to speculate. 2.36 p.m. Pryor asks
- 39:01Speaker 1: about the paintball episode on Tammy's driveway. You're suggesting as
- 39:04Speaker 1: a possibility that maybe it could have been a gun
- 39:07Speaker 1: that someone was using with Tammy Daybell? Is that fair?
- 39:10Speaker 1: Edward says that's 100% fair. He believes it was a rifle,
- 39:14Speaker 1: but admits he wasn't there. 2.41 p.m. Pryor asks about
- 39:19Speaker 1: eight text messages between Alex and Chad on October 9th.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Pryor asks if any of the messages were duplicates. Edward
- 39:26Speaker 1: says he can't recall. Pryor asks if he checked that
- 39:29Speaker 1: some of the messages were counted twice. Edward says he
- 39:32Speaker 1: can't answer that. 2.43 p.m. Pryor asks Tammy about being
- 39:37Speaker 1: shot on October 9th. Then on October 11th, Alex's device
- 39:41Speaker 1: Googled how to drill baffles to make a suppressor. 2.46 p.m.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Pryor asks about other Google searches from Alex's device. where
- 39:50Speaker 1: he looked up how to build your own silencer. Pryor
- 39:53Speaker 1: asks about October 18th when Alex's phone does not provide
- 39:56Speaker 1: data between 10.45 and 11.53 p.m. He was near the
- 40:01Speaker 1: Daybell residence at the LDS Church from 10.07 to 10.45 p.m. 2.51 p.m.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Pryor showing different pages from the exhibit and asks clarifying questions.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Pryor's drilling down on Alex's activities from 10.45 to 11.53 p.m.
- 40:18Speaker 1: He asks Edwards where Alex's phone was during that time period.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Edwards says his phone was not providing data during that time,
- 40:25Speaker 1: but was at the LDS church. 2.55 p.m. Pryor asks
- 40:30Speaker 1: Edwards when Tammy and Chad opened up the $ 300, 000 life
- 40:34Speaker 1: insurance policy. Edwards says it's on the slide. Pryor responds where?
- 40:39Speaker 1: It's at the top of the slide. March 2002. 2.56 p.m.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Pryor asks about the content of the text messages between
- 40:47Speaker 1: Chad and Lori. and how we don't know what was
- 40:49Speaker 1: being said. Edwards says he believes he knows based on
- 40:52Speaker 1: his experience and training. Prior as nothing further, Blake will
- 40:56Speaker 1: now redirect. 2.58pm Blake asks why Edwards focused on specific
- 41:01Speaker 1: days during this investigation. He says there were significant events
- 41:05Speaker 1: that happened around those days. 3pm Blake shows a slide
- 41:10Speaker 1: detailing events from the evening of October 9th. Alex and
- 41:13Speaker 1: Chad were texting each other around that time Tammy had
- 41:16Speaker 1: been shot at. Blake asks about Chad having contact with
- 41:19Speaker 1: Lori and Alex around the time Tammy was pronounced dead.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Edwards confirmed it happened. 3.02 p.m. Blake asks about the
- 41:27Speaker 1: connection between Tammy and Alex. Edwards says Chad Daybell. Blake
- 41:31Speaker 1: asks where Lori's children were discovered. Edwards responds, Daybell property.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Edwards is finished. Boyce calls for a sidebar to discuss scheduling. 3.07 p.m.
- 41:42Speaker 1: State has one additional witness who will be called tomorrow.
- 41:45Speaker 1: He's the last witness for the state. It will also
- 41:47Speaker 1: be a short day tomorrow. Court's dismissed for today. All right, folks,
- 41:51Speaker 1: so that's going to do it for us as well
- 41:54Speaker 1: and for another day at the Chad Daybell trial. And
- 41:58Speaker 1: the fact that the prosecution is moving so quickly through
- 42:01Speaker 1: its witnesses just goes to show you how they're slamming
- 42:04Speaker 1: it home. And I don't think it matters what sort
- 42:06Speaker 1: of defense that Chad Daybell and Pryor attempt to put
- 42:10Speaker 1: up because the evidence is clear, in my opinion. and
- 42:14Speaker 1: that evidence points directly towards a conviction of Chad Daybell.
- 42:19Speaker 1: All of the information that goes with this episode can
- 42:21Speaker 1: be found in the description box.
