- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: What's up everybody and welcome to another episode of Scouting the Fins right here on the Threat for Prairie podcast, also part of the five reasons sports network.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your host today, who's song, but telling joining me is our co-host Eric Wittigy, Eric.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: How are we doing today?
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: We're doing all right.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_02]: We're doing all right.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: One of these days, we will get both of the airs back on the same show.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_02]: I promise.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's been.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: been a bit of back and forth, but one thing stays pretty consistent making sure we're all aligned and getting our shows done.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, well football is finally back.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: The dolphins will be playing week one in Indianapolis and it looks like, you know, there's a little bit of rumblings happening in Miami where Mike McDaniel and the Oregonization, they're really hiding their hands
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: in terms of injuries.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: And it might just bite them in the butt.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, we're talking about this entire Darren Waller situation.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he was going to be such a big part of this offense to start off with, but you
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: Brought in a guy at a retirement.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he knows Frank Smith, the offensive coordinator, more so than connection and relationship building.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: But what are you gonna do at the Titan position?
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you bought a guy at a retirement.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's not healthy to play a week one.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like, is this just the same old dolphins?
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: You know, my inclination there is,
- 2:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard for me, so like for me to believe that or for me to think that, like I have to believe, like I almost have to believe that Darren Wall was plan A. And Darren Waller was not plan A. Plan A was literally to not replace Johnuse Smith.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: That was plan A. It was Jalen Connier sure, but plan A was Johnuse Smith is not the type of tight end we want in this offense or that we really need in this offense.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: they made that evaluation very clearly with the attention that they paid to the position and granted, I know you can't address everything, but that was a decision that they'd made.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then the Darren Waller thing just kind of fell into their lap.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: And you know at that point, sure, why not take the flyer on it.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: The guy barely costs anything.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: What was it?
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: It was a two, a seventh round swap between the two teams.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: For me to say, you know, this is the same old dolphin situation, you know, a lot of people are painting parallels to Odo Beckham, Odo Beckham was supposed to be your wide receiver three going into that season.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: He was going to be the guy that that solved your third down problems.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: And nobody assumed Darren Waller was going to meaningfully contribute to this offense.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: The team didn't really put up that extra.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: So I just, I don't buy the idea that, you know, it's, you know, the people that are really upset about it.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: It just kind of feels like they're self-reporting that they expect the Darren Waller to do things for this offense.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, wow, I would you.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and I get the argument that you could have gotten somebody better, but I don't really know how much, like after a certain point in the off season, I don't know if you could have brought in anyone better than Greg Dolcec for example.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'll tell you one thing, they could have potentially talk for the fences and try to trade for Michael Meyer who saw a lot of issues at the Titan position and helps out with the motions and the blocking.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking, now, that was a pretty good occult open-air guy.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'd say we transitioned a little bit there, but we're going to be talking about the Dolphins game plan.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: up against the Indianapolis Colts.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's been one not a lot of stuff on film.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: So you're trying to take a look at tendencies and what they could be doing someone in the preseason, but more so.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty much the same group on offense and defense for the Indianapolis cult.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: So we're taking a look at some of the 20, 24 metrics and breaking down what they could do.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, now that it was playing this entire offense a game plan is going to change the last year was Tyler Huntley to a tunnel where Lowe was obviously out with injuries.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the theme for the Dolphins offense is,
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, can Mike McDaniel adjust if the threat of the motion and the run game is neutralized by the Indianapolis Colts, can Anthony Weaver's defense dictate the game script on defense.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's a big week one test for Miami.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, I think offensively more than anything.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm really interested to see what the impact of the additions along the interior offensive line do for Miami more than really anything else I know to apply is a really big factor for this team and being healthy because we see the start difference in the offensive production, you know, when he's there versus when he isn't.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: But I think when you look at the impact of James Daniels in Jonas Avania and I mean, let's not forget Austin Jackson missed a bunch of time last season and the run game really suffered when he went down.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: He looks like he's going to be able to go on Sunday.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: So it's hard for me to evaluate the
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: Especially because, I mean, it feels like with Mike McDaniel, we've gotten three different outcomes in the run game.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: We got 2022 where, you know, you had a run game that was somewhere between 12th and 15th in the league.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: It was good, but it wasn't great.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: It was efficient, but maybe they didn't lean on it enough.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: 2023, the run game goes absolutely nuclear.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_02]: And then last year, the run game kind of falls apart.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, well, which, which one of these is the Miami Dolphins and, you know, I think the emotion is helpful when you're trying to
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: Abuse skate and maybe hide some weaknesses along the offensive line.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully they don't have to utilize it as much this year because they'll be stronger up front, not that I want them to go away from motion.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a really great, you know, accessory to your game plan.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_02]: But if you get to a point where you're utilizing it so much, eventually that in and of itself kind of becomes,
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think we lost Eric there for a little bit, but on there he is.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's back.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: Where did I leave off the motions?
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: Where do you think that if they rely on it?
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you can always have, I think you can always have too much of a good thing, but that was actually about where I ended my entire answer there.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_02]: So, great timing.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: Well, look, they were, they were the league's motion Cains with, I believe, 76, 77% in the use of motion, but the calls were fourth best.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: And EPA allowed versus motion.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's the fourth best defense against motions.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like it seems as if Indianapolis has the linebackers and safety's to handle it.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: If they have to over rely on motion does that kind of tell you that, you know, the hype about the offensive line isn't what it actually was during the off season.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's tough, right?
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: Because I think the
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: you know, the Mike McDaniel offense is always going to use a ton of motion.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that that's kind of built in.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, correct me if I'm wrong here.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: I do believe last year was the highest rate of motion among all three of the seasons with Mike McDaniel.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's a coincidence that it came while the offensive line was arguably the worst in the McDaniel era to this point.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but so let's assume let's assume the rate of motion declined it's it's week one they're still trying to get a feeler.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: I know Chris Kaufman said it on the last episode of The Rcer carry where it seems as if the beginning games their dolphins are pretty much feeling out what they're doing it's not high scoring high impactful.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: They're just really trying to get a sense of the run game in the past game.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: of where it's pretty much going on.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: Now look, the dolphins run 56% of their runs in the wide zone outside zone.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: The colts are average, they're middleing of the pack, they're on 18th to 17th in terms of EPA given up, but they're really, really good up against those man gap dual concepts just because of the defensive line they have.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: They can win on those one-on-one matchups.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I do think the dolphins
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: but you have to take you into account.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: You have two new guards who are powerful.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, we have to see what James Daniel's injury looks like, but I think if they can run the ball down their throats, if they can be successful,
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: depending on what type of person oh package they run out of and this leads me to my next point where if the dolphins run out of primarily 11 personnel they they like to run a lot out of 21 personnel and the cold defense was actually the league best up against 21 personnel against the past and and the run so that's a battle of strengths right there.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: for those both teams.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: But if the dolphins want to change it up, they run more so out of 11 personnel, but specifically out of eight trips package.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: And what I mean by a trips package is you have three wide receivers or three pass catchers to one side of the field.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: To a tongue-by-law has a plus 0.7 EP out of trips.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: That is the highest of any quarterbacks from 2022 to 2024.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: But the utilize it, I don't only a 7% rate.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the colds play cover 3 often and ranks second worse and yak allowed out of when they're playing, when they're playing opposing offences.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: in trips formation.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: I did a little bit of research and it looks like out of trips formation and in an 11 personnel.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen Water is the best wider receiver and I do think that they should scheme up some targets for Jalen Water when the passing game.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that the dolphins
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: kind of take advantage of the calls from that perspective when you do look at the receivers that you have in the room, you know, not just Tyree Kill and Jalen Water, I mean, I think we saw Malik Washington is going to be a guy out of the slot that has a lot of that after the catch wiggle to him.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and the other thing that you mentioned there is the dolphin success out of 11 personnel and again I keep going back to your improvements along the offensive line where maybe now you feel more comfortable going to 11 personnel more often because your offensive line is stronger and you don't feel the need to have that extra blocker in on you know on so many plays.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_02]: So I feel like just being able to do that kind of freeze up Mike McDaniel to maybe be more like the, you know, the creative or the more creative Mike McDaniel that we saw in 2022 and then hopefully even so in 2023.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, I don't think they're going to use that what we're saying because this is just evidence based and this is research really don't know what their game plan is, you know, if they really want to get that edge, you know, they showed it last year that the dolphins don't really do so much out of trips or live or out in an 11 person up, but if they do do it on those third downs, those critical downs, where they need to get that yardage, they have those players on where they can run.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: you know better zone concepts or pit and pull with James Daniels if he plays and he's helped him with Jones Avenue.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: They can rely on Malik Washington.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: We saw him in preseason.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: He was pretty reliable even Taj Washington if he's out there.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: But in those critical situations where
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: The dolphins can get those, you know, win on those third and shorts on those red zone drives where they need to score, they need to get those touchdowns, especially in Indianapolis where it's their home opener.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: Jim Ursa is no longer with their team, so you've got to best believe the Indianapolis culture fired up for this game.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_02]: They certainly are, but you know, it's funny to
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of what we talked about and what we worried about in the offseason, we almost won't get to see answers for in this particular game because of the matchup between these two teams.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like in terms of, like, I feel like this is a very good matchup for the dolphins.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_02]: Again, season D inapolis calls, they play a very disciplined brand of football defensively, clearly with their, you know, with their effectiveness against motion.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that this is going to be a situation where maybe the dolphins quote unquote, you know, early season vanilla playbook is more effective than what you might run week nine, week 10, week 11.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: uh, against the quotes because this is such a disciplined group, uh, defensively, and then, you know, just flipping things over to the other side of the ball, we talked all season long, and we'll talk about the defense a little bit more, but we talked all off season long about the secondary, and I can't think of a situation where the secondary may get tested less, all season long than this game.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do think it might be a somewhat of a vanilla game plan.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: I was also doing a little bit of research and it looks like.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: The cold stiffens does struggle against intermediate theros where the dolphins actually do very, very well now the cold to defense very covered three heavy Sympress your heavy as well they like to get to the quarterback with five people so you could potentially see a defensive lineman or an edge rusher dropping back.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: and a quarterback and a defensive back.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: Look at a blitz, that's where Tua really needs to find his hot routes, his protection or the others.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, short yardage jack throws to Devon, H.A.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: and Malik, Washington, T.I.R.E.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: Kiro Jalen model.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: On short throws, they were really, really good.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: And they need to be able to get that jack and convert it into first downs or maybe even successful drives where they get five, six, seven yards just to keep the chains moving.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: All right, but that folks, we will go too break.

- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: And we are back.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: Now, onto the Dolphins defense versus the Colts offense.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: And this one where I had a little trouble with because the Colts have a change in quarterback.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones have two very different styles of playing now.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: If the Colts had a much better quarterback, especially with the offense that they have, you know, they have a very good offensive line, very stealthy.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: They can run the ball with Jonathan Taylor due to the zone schemes right up the middle and around things like that.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: And they have a very decent core group of wide receivers and not to mention dolphins, fans, fan favorite, Tyler Warren.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it looks like what Tyler Warren and Moelle Cox, the colds are going to be using a little bit more 12 personnel in this game.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: Last year in 2024, the colds used 12 personnel around 25% of the time, which was the 6 most in the league.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: They ran 58% from 12 personnel, which was the second highest.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: in the league, but only ranked 18 and 8.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the one, the one thing that I do find when you look at similarities, though, between the Colts offense in 2024 and Daniel Jones career numbers, and this is where again, I feel like
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: The game plan for this game for Miami specifically is going to be really unique to this team because, you know, I think Anthony Weber, especially with the front 7 that he has at his disposal in most games is going to play a pretty conservative brand of defense in the back 7.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: But you look at the cult's offense versus the blitz.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, 31st and a league in EPA last year.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: And Daniel Jones career numbers against the blitz specifically in terms of his career, EPA pretreadful themselves.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: This might be a situation where the dolphins, one of the,
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: or blitzing teams in the late last year.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: You only got healthier on the off season.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think this could be a game where Anthony Weaver is ultra aggressive.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: Granny, he can only get there.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: He can only get there if they are doing their job on first and second down against Jonathan Taylor.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: And to their credit, mine was very good against the run last year.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think that they only served to get themselves better through editions, you know, adding depth to the lineback room, adding Kenneth Grant, adding Jordan Phillips, just having a wall of bodies that you can kind of throw at this Indianapolis cult's offense.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that, you know,
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: If there's one position, if there's one side of the ball that I'm really bullish on in this game, and I think you can already kind of tell it's the defense.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think the defense is going to be really good this week against the cults.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: So even though
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: The narrative around Dan and Jones that he's not a good quarterback.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: He can get the ball out to his wide receiver.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: See that really good wide receiver's in Michael Payman Jr., Josh Downs.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: They have 80 Mitchell as well who can be a deep threat.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: Now look, the Dolphins defense last season, played cover three, not so much where it was top in the league, but it was around the average.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: They were the six best defense in cover three.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: Daniel Jones is 24th in EPA versus cover 3 and, you know, if they do go where Shane Stike and likes to run a lot of gunbunches, which is basically, you know, you have three pass-catchers to one side, not necessarily like trips, but you have a tight end who's attached to this formation.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: Two wide receivers weren't in who are very close to a net close to each other.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: We're next to each other.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: They're kind of like stacked with each other.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: He likes to run a lot of those, but they were middle of the pack.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: They were just 20 at the EPA.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: They weren't as successful.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if they're going to do that a lot in 12 personnel with Tyler Warren isolated one on one.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: how they're going to respond to that.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: Who's going to cover Tyler Warren?
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, you have three other, three other people.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: You have Moelle Cox.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: You have Michael Pittman, Jr., 80 Mitchell, or Josh Downs, especially on those, you know, second and seventh, third and short.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: How are they going to be able to get after Daniel Jones, especially if he's going to be getting rid of the ball, you know, very fast.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like the Dolphins defense,
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: They were pretty elite versus short throws.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: Last season, 0.05 EPA, second best in the league.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: How do they effectively manage to get after Daniel Jones, especially if he's getting the ball of that quick Eric?
- 22:56[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think that it's a matter of whenever you're dealing with the offense, isn't going to get the ball out quickly.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's all about timing.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_02]: So I think this is going to be a game where they're aggressive kind of all over the place.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think that there's a game where you want to man up maybe a little bit more and just kind of get the receivers off of their timing with Daniel Jones.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think that this is going to be a situation where you're looking at, I wouldn't be surprised if you see
- 23:29[SPEAKER_02]: Chop Robinson, Jalen Phillips, and Bradley Chub all on the field together, more than half the defensive snaps, you know, so where you almost have kind of like one of those NASCAR packages defensively, and I think that that's going to be something that you see here, especially like you said, trying to get the ball out from the name of Jones because if there is one thing Daniel Jones can have a tendency to do in the pocket,
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of get happy feet where if he is feeling the pressure, he becomes erratic and if they can get things like that, he can also be somewhat of a threat with his legs.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas if this was another circumstance, he doesn't see anything.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: He might, you know, bulldoze over your bulldoze, don't know, Jones.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: Do you necessarily keep a spy on him like, how are you going to cover?
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: those short areas.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: You can play a little bit of cover three.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: This dolphin secondary is not that advanced.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: They're pretty young.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: You have a lot of new guys in the secondary.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: You want to protect your secondary.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: So do you, I don't think it's likely that they try to send the blitz a lot to Rattle Daniel Jones early just because they won't know what they have in the secondary just yet.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they had the
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: they had joint practices, but you're going up against a trio of passcasters who are above average, who are playing with a new quarter back who can actually throw the ball.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: Deep ball wasn't there last season, but can throw the ball accurately if given time.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I think
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be a litmus test for reverse defense and especially the secondary where if the defensive line can get pressure with four or five even more so likely with four.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: Then this helps out the linebackers in secondary in coverage where.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: If Daniel Jones as you said can get a little bit erratic with pressure, if he makes a mistake, the dolphins have to have to capitalize on this, whether it be Jordan Brooks, Blitzing and Chop Robinson taking a flat router, Tyrell, Dodson, you know, going up into the intermediate area of the field, recovering, you know, Tyler Warren, run on one,
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: The linebackers are going to be stressed especially against these tight ends.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: And the secondary will have to hold up its part.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: I expect Mink of its patch up to be all over the field in this game, whether it's coming down to the box to help and tackle Jonathan Taylor to load up the box on those early downs to be back deep playing that deep third safety.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: How are these safety going to look like as well?
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like we really don't know what's going to happen until we see and then we get to figure out.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: This is how they play.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: Now, what do they do in week two?
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, the funny thing is when it comes to the safety room in particular is I think when Ashden Davis got hurt, we all kind of, well, number one, I feel like the assumption was that he was going to be out much longer than what it looks like, you know, it looks like he's not going to miss any time.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: all of a sudden, I think the consideration of, you know, Anthony Weaver's history of playing three safeties, you know, that has to be considered again because now you're looking at not just Minkgood and Davis.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: Again, I mean, just from my personal tastes, I think I might like, if you know, La Fangou over Davis.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that this is going to be a big game for a guy like him specifically where you need another safety kind of lurking up into the box to disrupt on those short and intermediate passing routes coming over the middle.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that the safety room from that perspective, I think we're going to kind of
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: learn about the depth that we have there a little bit today or on Sunday.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: Really excited clearly.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: But like I said, I think with Daniel Jones, the key is going to be, can you get there and for, and I think that they'll be able to, I think that they'll be able to pre-often.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we'll finish it off with predictions.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the dolphins
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: three rookie trio on the defense of Lyman, Kenneth Grant, Seek Bigger's in Jordan, Phillips.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're gonna play decent enough against the wrong and against this cold offense, so Lyman's gonna be a very, very big, big test.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think if they play more so penny fronts, five one fronts, where they have people in the box, where they dare Daniel Jones to throw deep is gonna be a very big indication that
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: they respect this Dolphins defensive line where if they throw out of those heavy boxes, now the secondary will have to hold up and I think that's where the cults might have the edge.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: They have a better wide receiver group than our current secondary at this position.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think it may be too much if
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: If the ball is thrown and sprayed all over the field, I don't think the secondary will be able to hold up.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's where the dolphins might lose this game in a close one.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm having this as a 20 to 17, where Indianapolis speaks this one out.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, so I could I definitely understand the concerns about the secondary if there's a if there's a receiver Indianapolis that I'm most concerned about I think I'm more concerned about a guy like a Josh downs.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: If for no other reason, then I think he's more likely to really separate.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: when you've got a quarter back like Daniel Jones who may not always be the most accurate having a guy that can be really open.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_02]: Versus a Gallic Michael Pittman who's a little bit more of a contested catch receiver and really about going up and boxing guys out at the catch point.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think the defensive line is going to prove to be a little bit too much for Indianapolis.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_02]: where the dolphins are winning on first and second down, getting the Colts into 39, 3rd and 10, 3rd and 11 situations.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_02]: And at that point, then I think the defense lets loose big games for Chop Robinson, Jalen Phillips, I've got a 24 to 16 dolphins victory on the road here, lead one.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: All right, folks, that is it for today's episode.
