- 0:10What does the nanny do? OK, so we're done.
- 0:13Goodbye. You.
- 0:16Shut it off. Do not twist my words.
- 0:19Do not. Make me a victim, sweetie.
- 0:21Just look at the mountain. That's what you saw.
- 0:24That day. Just the knife in the kidneys.
- 0:27Over all these years and the sacrifices that I made to love
- 0:32you. What happens in Vegas stays in
- 0:50Vegas, does it? Even if it's the most boring
- 0:53shit you've ever seen in your entire life.
- 0:56A polygamist version of The Hangover, which means there's
- 1:03only very mild drinking by one person, no one is hungover at
- 1:07all, and the most excitement we're going to have is Meri's
- 1:11hair again. Again.
- 1:13As per usual. Yes, as we always get to
- 1:16experience. Oh boy.
- 1:18Meri's hair Welcome back listeners to my Sister Wives
- 1:22podcast Season 4 episode 7, Brown Boys do Vegas.
- 1:27I don't know you can say about that.
- 1:30Do they do Vegas? Do you have anything clever?
- 1:33Because I don't have anything clever.
- 1:34I already shot my, already blew my load, shot my, whatever.
- 1:38They do Vegas. Oh boy.
- 1:41I wouldn't go as far to say they do Vegas.
- 1:45Right, they're in Vegas. Yeah, it's pretty like want
- 1:50wall. Yeah, misleading title.
- 1:52Yeah. Thank you, TLC, for once again
- 1:55not living up to your promises. We opened the episode at Meri's
- 2:00house, though. Meri, Meri, quite contrary.
- 2:02How does your house grow? And Kody says that his brothers
- 2:06are coming into town. Oh, we're so excited to have
- 2:09Kody's brothers in town. Meeting the brothers.
- 2:12We've got Scott and Curtis are coming first.
- 2:16Kody is dusting off his motorcycle jacket.
- 2:20He says look how dusty this is. And he's literally dusting his
- 2:23jacket off. Being dramatic, probably.
- 2:26Was there dust on it? Perhaps.
- 2:29He's such a wild hog, you know? Yeah, I mean, it was at Meri's
- 2:32house. If the jacket was truly at
- 2:34Meri's house, I don't believe it really had dust on it.
- 2:38But that's just. Meri puts it on every night and
- 2:41she's like, I can smell Kody in this.
- 2:44She sleeps in it. Oh yeah, We learned that Scott,
- 2:49Michael and Curtis are coming to town.
- 2:52There are 5 brown boys including Kody and Scott and Curtis are
- 3:00coming first. They currently live in Wyoming
- 3:03and Michael lives in Utah. He's going to be coming a bit
- 3:07later on in the episode. And we'll also be joined by
- 3:10Curtis's wife. Yes, Curtis's wife.
- 3:14We get to meet a sister-in-law. Janelle says that they used to
- 3:18see them more when they lived in Utah, but of course, since
- 3:21they're moved to Vegas, they see them less often.
- 3:24You know, yeah, whatever. Of course, I mean, yeah, it's
- 3:27kind of what happens when you when you move away from people.
- 3:31But even with Scott and Curtis living in Wyoming, I can't
- 3:34believe that they would see him super often.
- 3:37I mean, maybe Michael since he was in Utah as well, but she
- 3:41makes it seem like this huge loss in their life.
- 3:43They haven't seen him in forever.
- 3:45They tell us that Curtis is 7 years younger than Kody. 11
- 3:49years younger. Oh, eleven years younger than
- 3:51code? Oh my goodness, 711 messing it
- 3:55all up. Well I tried to push out my
- 3:58first born on 711 so I thought it'd be pretty cool so.
- 4:02And then did you fail at that? I did fail.
- 4:04At that epic failure. Yep, Curtis Codis.
- 4:09CODIS. Codis Curtis is 11 years younger
- 4:12than Kody. When Curtis gets his first
- 4:16spotlight moment when he's talking to the camera, he
- 4:19references how Kody taught him many things, including cow
- 4:22tipping, and he says that's what you do in Wyoming.
- 4:26Yeah, he says that Kody was a bit of a hero to him.
- 4:30Oh yeah, Hero A. Bit of a hero to him.
- 4:33Well, that makes one person. Right.
- 4:35I mean, and his younger children, I suppose, still
- 4:39aren't disillusioned by the Kody of it all.
- 4:43They go a little bit into like each story of the brothers and
- 4:48they talk about how Scott is a polygamist with two wives and 16
- 4:53kids. Yeah, 16 Oh.
- 4:56Mylanta. Yeah, Scott is Kody's oldest
- 5:00brother. And it's obvious.
- 5:02It's pretty obvious. Yes, he literally looks like
- 5:07he's old enough to be Kody's dad.
- 5:08Yeah, now it's not like Kody looks super young, but Scott
- 5:13looks really old. I mean, he's wearing aviator
- 5:16glasses that are probably from the 70s and nowadays.
- 5:22That would be like cool and in and hip, right?
- 5:25It would be on purpose. You'd be doing that at the time
- 5:28that this was shot. Probably not a fashion choice
- 5:34and probably a Brown family member at all.
- 5:37Not a fashion choice, but it was aging him immensely.
- 5:42The glasses choice of it all. So Kody rented motorcycles for
- 5:49them all to ride. They're going to go on this big
- 5:51old ride together because Curtis is a biker type of guy,
- 5:55according to Kody. Biker type of guy.
- 5:58And Curtis is also a monogamist. I mean, this is we see a little
- 6:03clip of him and his wife on that couch moment where he's talking
- 6:06about Kody being his hero, but they don't really come out and
- 6:09say it right away. And then we get the bombshell
- 6:14that Curtis is a monogamist. Yes.
- 6:17And him and Erica are of a different faith now.
- 6:22Yes, Curtis does not believe in polygamy and he does not believe
- 6:26in the Book of Mormon. So OK, Curtis has decided not to
- 6:33believe in one fairy tale and he has one wife, so.
- 6:37He still has a sky friend, so friend living in the sky.
- 6:40He does have a Sky friend, I do appreciate that.
- 6:43Yep. So then they show at least the
- 6:46boys going out and getting on the motorcycles.
- 6:48Were the wives with them like, kind of being like, oh, like, I
- 6:51think they, like all of the adults, might have gone outside?
- 6:53Yeah, And the guys are just like yucking it up together, being
- 6:58like, oh, we're doing this manly thing.
- 7:00Like Kody is just like trying to be sexy and whatever.
- 7:04And yeah. Yeah, Kody says that they're
- 7:07going to ride to a biker bar, which is the oldest bar in
- 7:11Vegas. Oldest bar in Vegas?
- 7:13Yeah, that's interesting to me. And now I noticed that Kody is
- 7:17sitting bitch behind Scott, and I was like, that's amazing
- 7:21because there's only two bikes, so Curtis is on one because
- 7:23obviously he's the biker of the group.
- 7:26And then we've got Scott driving.
- 7:29Is it driving? Yeah, driving.
- 7:31Driving one of them. And Kody's sitting bitch, which
- 7:34I just love. I love that for Kody.
- 7:37It's interesting too, because they're not drinkers, right?
- 7:41So Scott and Kody are supposedly the Mormons that are still
- 7:48pretty religious. So they are not drinkers, right?
- 7:53And they're riding a bike together.
- 7:55And then you've got Curtis riding his own bike, which we'll
- 8:01get to this in a little bit, but I'm just want to point that out
- 8:04now that it's odd that the coupling is happening here in my
- 8:09mind. I don't know.
- 8:11Well, and Curtis is the leader of a bike gang, so he's quite
- 8:14familiar with the streets. Yeah.
- 8:16And how to, what is that called when they do?
- 8:19Like how to avoid Rd. Rash?
- 8:20He knows how to like dive and tuck if there's a collision or a
- 8:24rollover. A dive and tuck.
- 8:26Listen to these words. I don't think they are true or
- 8:29like. I don't, I don't think I've ever
- 8:31heard this dip. And I mean, I don't know, I used
- 8:34to back in my day, back in my day, pull a chair up garden.
- 8:39Just going to tell you something.
- 8:41I did date somebody that was part of a biker group.
- 8:46You were a leather lady. Oh, and I don't think I've ever
- 8:51heard those terms. I'm so sorry to forget to you.
- 8:54Yeah, I love how I'm just like calling them.
- 8:56I'm like, you know, when you fall off the bike.
- 8:58Rd. Rash is real, definitely.
- 9:00You said that with your whole chest though.
- 9:02Like, let's be honest here, you said with your whole chest those
- 9:04terms like you truly believed it.
- 9:06Rd. rash is a thing. You are not wrong there.
- 9:08Yeah, but dipping and tucking, no, you're going to have to like
- 9:12roll that. Back, stop, drop and roll.
- 9:15Which I also thought from a young age we were going to have
- 9:17to do way more often than I've ever had to do.
- 9:19But. Absolutely.
- 9:20Absolutely. Yeah.
- 9:22Very few stop dropping rolls in my life, that's for sure.
- 9:25I mean, maybe if I wanted to like look a little nuts to get
- 9:28someone away from me a stop dropping roll would work, but I
- 9:31don't think in any other context I've ever actually done it.
- 9:33Well, we could light you on fire and see if it works.
- 9:35I mean, sure, yeah, I'm game. Let me just pull my hair up
- 9:40first so that my Hairspray doesn't like turn me into like
- 9:43an ignited troll. Join us on Patreon, where you
- 9:46can see me lighting Kimber on fire.
- 9:48OK. And me, you tasing you.
- 9:51Yeah, and you tasing me? Jackass style.
- 9:54Wow. Wow.
- 9:55The wives are going to drag Erica out into public because,
- 9:58duh, the boys are going to a biker bar.
- 10:01So the ladies have to show Erica a good time in Vegas, too.
- 10:06Yeah. And they go to what was the name
- 10:09of the business? Did you drop that down?
- 10:11I. Did the artful Potter?
- 10:14Oh, the artful poterer. To the Artful Potter.
- 10:18Oh wow, that's not exactly something that rolls off the
- 10:22tongue. Artful poterer.
- 10:25No, just Potter. Oh, just Potter, Potter.
- 10:28Oh, the like Harry Potter, the artful Potter.
- 10:31The Artful Potter. OH.
- 10:33Yeah, they're going to paint some pottery pieces.
- 10:37Do you think they're going to glaze them and then put them in
- 10:39the kiln? Yeah, which is an odd choice
- 10:42because usually, and I say this as someone who's a crafty
- 10:45motherfucker and has done this before, have you ever been to a
- 10:48pottery place before? Well, no, but I've I've made
- 10:51pottery when I was a kid in elementary school.
- 10:54I, as a grown ass adult, I've gone to a store like the Artful
- 10:58Potter and done something of this sort with girlfriends and
- 11:05they have to glaze the item, right?
- 11:08So you paint it, they put it in the kiln, and you come back a
- 11:11different day to pick it up. Yeah, so they take their
- 11:14sister-in-law who's from out of town on this fucking crafting
- 11:17adventure, and who knows if she even got her shit back from
- 11:21them. I don't know.
- 11:22Right, we don't know how many days she stayed.
- 11:24Yeah, we don't. And I am familiar with that.
- 11:26We're like, yeah, they have to put it in the like you have to
- 11:29fire them or whatever. It's usually an overnight
- 11:32process. Yeah, I don't.
- 11:33Know some manner I don't know. I haven't been to the Harry
- 11:36Potter, I mean the artsy poterer, but I wonder if that
- 11:42business is still around a lot of the brown businesses that
- 11:45they visit, not well, the ones they start and the ones they, I
- 11:49was going to say visit, but patron, patronize, patronize,
- 11:56patronize. No, that's not it.
- 11:59That's not it. Businesses that they frequent,
- 12:04that they go to, that they film, Wow.
- 12:07My vocabulary is I'm on the struggle bus, so.
- 12:11Bad. I don't even know.
- 12:12Yeah, they patronize. They patronage.
- 12:14They patron. Let's just try to not even say.
- 12:16Let's just forget. OK.
- 12:20All of these businesses, all of these businesses go out of
- 12:23business. That's the point.
- 12:24If the Browns film in your business, you're going under.
- 12:27So don't let them film in your place of business while the
- 12:31women are showing Erica good old time at the Art Potter Art the
- 12:38Artful. Potter.
- 12:39Artful Potter. Scratches it down right now How?
- 12:43Terrible that I can't remember the tablet with this Potter
- 12:46stone and to the lid into my rock.
- 12:50Artful Potter. So while the women are showing
- 12:54Erica a grand old time at the Artful Potter, Meri claims to
- 12:59not be crafty. Which I almost fell out of my
- 13:03chair because that does not make any sense.
- 13:05Meri has a craft room. She has a craft room in her
- 13:08house. She has totes and totes and
- 13:11totes and totes. She's got a garage full of Knick
- 13:14knack paddywhacks. Give a dog a clutter bone.
- 13:16Like it's all sorts of shit. That's what her life is, is
- 13:19possessions and belongings that she's never going to do anything
- 13:22with. And then she's like, oh, I'm not
- 13:25crafty. Excuse me?
- 13:28You made that blouse out of like twine.
- 13:31Dog hair she weaved it out dog hair Dog hair the dog found in
- 13:35the. Dental floss for God's sake.
- 13:38Yeah, she says she's not creative.
- 13:40And then they show clips of her going around the entire shop
- 13:46looking at each piece of empty white pottery that is available
- 13:50to paint. And she's picking pieces up and
- 13:53putting them down and can't decide what she wants to do.
- 13:57And I think that there's a lot of women out there who think
- 14:01that they are crafty. And then they get in a situation
- 14:04like is this, and they actually have to pull something out of
- 14:07their own ass and they can't do it.
- 14:09But if they were on Pinterest, they could completely copy
- 14:12another person's idea, but they probably couldn't come up with
- 14:16the idea on their own. And it doesn't mean you're not
- 14:18creative. Well, it means you're not
- 14:21creative. It doesn't mean that you're not
- 14:23crafty, because if you're crafty, you can replicate
- 14:27something if you're creative. You're creating.
- 14:31You are literally coming up with the idea on your own, so I think
- 14:34that she's struggling to come up with a good idea on her own
- 14:38here. I took away from it that she's
- 14:40just indecisive because it was like, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh
- 14:43my God. Like different pieces, different
- 14:45colors. The women all sit down with
- 14:46their pieces and they're going to start painting.
- 14:49And Meri's the last one to sit down.
- 14:50And she's like, I don't know, what do you think of this color?
- 14:52And it's like, my God, girl, like, what do you think this
- 14:54pot's going to end up in the Smithsonian?
- 14:56Now, if we had our own clubhouse where we were interviewing
- 14:59people, we could ask Meri for her pottery to put behind us in
- 15:02the shot. And it could be like that
- 15:03Pottery's for Meri. That would be so wonderful.
- 15:06She picks like a pea green color too, by the way.
- 15:08And it's like, oh, I don't know if if I'm going to like this
- 15:10well. Yeah, and it wasn't even like
- 15:12olive. It was like nuclear pea green.
- 15:14Like what the fuck is going on here?
- 15:16It was like it belonged at like Chernobyl or something.
- 15:19I don't know. It's interesting.
- 15:21Yeah, definitely good for Meri's skin.
- 15:23Gives that nice green when the light hits her pot.
- 15:27When the light hits Meri's pot, it's going to reflect nuclear
- 15:31green onto her face. Right.
- 15:33Maybe it counteract a little of that orange.
- 15:35I don't think that's how it works.
- 15:36Yeah, but. When the wives are on the couch
- 15:39and they're discussing things, I was like, Oh my God.
- 15:45Kimber. Meri's hair.
- 15:48Meri's hair. We have had many a comment about
- 15:51Meri's hair, but I am telling you when I say that this was
- 15:56something else, like on a next level of Meri's hair, it was
- 16:01fucking next level. Like I've thought I had seen it
- 16:07all with her hair. And then I saw this.
- 16:10We've said it before, and it reminds me of when you're going
- 16:13through a car wash, the thing that's got all the things that
- 16:17spin around and they flail outward.
- 16:19It literally looked like that. It was like like off the side of
- 16:24her head in this sweeping large motion off each side.
- 16:29Multiple times it was like. Imagine a Christmas tree, but
- 16:35you curl the ends of the branches like with an eyelash
- 16:39curler. Like Doctor Seuss.
- 16:40Like a Doctor Seuss tree and then just put her face in the
- 16:44middle of it. Yeah, and that face.
- 16:47And she was orange as orange could be.
- 16:54She went all out next level for these like couch interviews in
- 17:00this episode. Yes, it was something else.
- 17:03It was like glamour shots without the glamour.
- 17:06I don't even know how to describe it.
- 17:08It's so weird. It's just shots.
- 17:11She got a spray tan probably done at like who knows where,
- 17:16but it's like she probably kept her turtleneck shirt on and got
- 17:19a spray tan of just her hands and her neck and her face.
- 17:22Oh God, and it's very apparent. See, I think Meri's fake and
- 17:25baking. I think she's in the machine.
- 17:27She's going to a tanning bed. Oh yeah, I think she's at like
- 17:30$3 tan. Like put on the baby oil.
- 17:34I'm jumping in the bulbs. Well, she's got to be using one
- 17:37of those lotions then that's like it has bronzer and it makes
- 17:40your skin tingle when it you put it on.
- 17:42Oh, yeah. And I'm not going to lie, I at
- 17:46this point in time, like when these are being shot, I am that
- 17:51girl. I am in the tanning bed way too
- 17:54often. I have the lotion.
- 17:56It puts the lotion on its skin and it gets in the tanning bed.
- 17:59Again, that was me. Maybe you and Meri have matching
- 18:02Playboy's Bunny sticker. Probably.
- 18:06Little white spots, whatever that.
- 18:07We did and she probably hit it and she's like, this is just for
- 18:10Kody. Yeah, look at me.
- 18:12I'm such a devious little girl. Yeah, so I don't.
- 18:16Yeah, you're right. She could.
- 18:17Because I look back at pictures of myself and I wasn't getting a
- 18:19spray tan and I still look orange because your girl's pasty
- 18:23as fuck over here. So you know.
- 18:25Yeah. Meri loves the tanning bed.
- 18:28Meri loves a curling iron. A.
- 18:32Or a flat iron just like flipping out on the end.
- 18:35Either 1. I don't know what this is, but.
- 18:38She loves to burn her skin and she loves to burn her hair,
- 18:41Yeah. We're all around just burning
- 18:43the fuck out of Meri. That's Meri.
- 18:45She's just. Burning, burning, burning,
- 18:48burning love. Oh, Meri, it's so savvy.
- 18:52And they're burning pottery in this episode.
- 18:54Just put her in the kiln with the pottery please.
- 18:56He's like, put me in the kiln, it'll save me 15 bucks next
- 19:00week. It will, my God, give her those
- 19:03little tanning glasses and put her in there overnight.
- 19:06Yeah, she and Kody love to have those Donald Trump eyes, you
- 19:09know? Oh my gosh.
- 19:11They go back to the table with the women painting their pottery
- 19:16and Erica is telling them all that she feels so blessed to
- 19:19have them as family. Very blessed, so blessed.
- 19:23Even though she was a bit apprehensive about meeting them
- 19:25because, you know, she thought, well, and what, they going to be
- 19:28drinking the kool-aid? And I was like, oh, this is
- 19:34Erica's first time being filmed. She was maybe a little, though
- 19:38it's not that she was uncomfortable.
- 19:40I don't know. How would we describe Erica?
- 19:42I think she was like, comfortable, but in a way that
- 19:46it's, yeah, she doesn't get the gravity of the fact that she's
- 19:50being filmed. She seemed comfortable in a way
- 19:53that was like, honey, maybe you need to and rein it in a bit,
- 19:58right? Maybe not be so comfortable
- 20:00because, yeah, the comment about when I met the family for the
- 20:04first time, I wasn't sure if we'd be drinking some special
- 20:07kool-aid. Like she said this like weird
- 20:10comment about drinking the kool-aid.
- 20:12We all know what that means. Jonestown family massacre.
- 20:15Not really something that you want to be referencing when
- 20:18you're talking about your in laws and brothers and sisters in
- 20:21laws. That are cult members.
- 20:23That are cult members. I mean, probably not the best
- 20:27reference that we make. Yeah, she you're right.
- 20:29It's like, I don't know how to describe it because it's like
- 20:32she's comfortable, but her being comfortable is uncomfortable.
- 20:36Like it was weird. It was weird, I think she's
- 20:39probably been used to seeing them on TV for a couple seasons
- 20:44now and so she feels baby. From watching the show or from
- 20:50watching other reality TV? That she has got this shit
- 20:54unlocked and it's like Nah, probably not.
- 20:58Well, I have to give her two enthusiastic thumbs up for her
- 21:01confidence. I I think that's a beautiful
- 21:03thing. Erica, if you're listening, I
- 21:05applaud your confidence. Right.
- 21:08Yeah, they do mention again in this portion that Erica was of a
- 21:14different faith and that now Curtis and her are Christian.
- 21:20So first it's brought up, you know, by Kody and him endorsing
- 21:25the fact that he lets his brother do what he wants.
- 21:27And now the women are bringing it up and they're going to
- 21:29endorse the brothers differences and the wife's differences.
- 21:33And so they make a point to bring it up again here, but in
- 21:39the context of the women's group.
- 21:42They're very open minded. They're totally OK with their
- 21:45brother and sister-in-law being Christian.
- 21:50Yeah, like, OK, whatever. As long as you're worshipping a
- 21:52sky friend, right? Like as long as you're strong in
- 21:55your convictions, God bless. God bless.
- 22:02The brothers arrive at the biker bar they were going to called
- 22:05the Pioneer Saloon. Now that one I can actually say
- 22:11and comprehend. I'm like the Kiln Store, like my
- 22:15God, just because. You relate so much more to the
- 22:19men. Be honest.
- 22:20Well, this is it. I'm raging testosterone filled
- 22:23bull. I'm a beast of a man and I also
- 22:27am an alcoholic. So, you know, the Pioneer Saloon
- 22:30totally works for me. While they're there, Curtis gets
- 22:33up to get them drinks and he's like, you know, what can I get
- 22:35you? And Kody's like a water and they
- 22:38don't even show him asking Scott.
- 22:41But then when Curtis gets up to the bar, the bar the bar keep
- 22:44comes up the bartender and he's like what can I get you?
- 22:47And he's like 2 ice waters and. He Yeah.
- 22:50Ice waters 2 Ice waters. 2 ice waters.
- 22:53And they don't tell us what he orders.
- 22:55No, they cut it off before they say what he orders.
- 22:58Totally. So there's like, they do a weird
- 23:00edit game where they don't show him ordering his drink.
- 23:04Instead they make it seem like he's getting 2 waters and the
- 23:06bartender's like, yeah, sure, like whatever.
- 23:09Well, he got a beer. He did get a beer or something.
- 23:12Yeah, some kind of beer. They're talking about how Scott
- 23:16is so uncomfortable, like Scott is uncomfortable.
- 23:19Scott is a rule follower. We shouldn't even be in a bar
- 23:22right now. We're patronizing a place that
- 23:25stop. We are in a place that serves
- 23:29alcohol and we probably shouldn't even be here.
- 23:31And Scott is so uncomfortable. Yeah, Scott is breathing in the
- 23:34Sins through his nose. It's terrible.
- 23:38He's not drinking the Sins because he's got a nice
- 23:39refreshing ice water at the Oldest Bride, the Pioneer Saloon
- 23:42in Vegas. Right.
- 23:44Boy, once again, like we are on the town, this is Vegas.
- 23:48This is how you do Vegas. Well this is what makes me
- 23:52wonder why Kody's riding bitch with Scott because Curtis is
- 23:58having a drink. A drink.
- 24:01So why wouldn't Curtis be riding bitch with one of the non
- 24:06drinkers? Maybe that's what happens when
- 24:08they leave the bar. Honey, we don't know that.
- 24:10OK. Curtis was not drunk when they
- 24:13left the house. No, I'm just saying.
- 24:16But who knows how drunk he was when they left Pioneer Saloon
- 24:20because he's there with his weirdo narcissist showboat
- 24:24brother and then his like grandpa slash brother who's like
- 24:28we shouldn't even be here. I'm a very repressed man.
- 24:32Yeah, he has this look on his face and this like tightness to
- 24:37his body throughout this whole episode.
- 24:39I would say like, something might just be like up his butt.
- 24:44I don't. Know not in the good way.
- 24:46No, he's got this. I don't even know how to explain
- 24:51it. Like he has this like tightness
- 24:52about him where you can tell that he just isn't really
- 24:58comfortable, right? But it's more than that.
- 25:01I would say. It's almost like this
- 25:03expectation that he has to be a certain way.
- 25:06And so he's putting on this like stoic front because he doesn't
- 25:10want to do the wrong thing. And Kody does mention that, you
- 25:16know, he's the good one of the bunch.
- 25:19He's the one that's always been the rule follower and that Kody
- 25:22is kind of looked up to as well as like, these are what the
- 25:26beliefs should be. And you can tell in his body
- 25:30language 1000%. When the wives joke with Kody
- 25:33that he doesn't even know what the word rules means because
- 25:38like, Kody's not the rule follower.
- 25:39Yeah, Scott does have this. It's like a combination of
- 25:43oldest child, oldest boy being raised on a ranch by an asshole,
- 25:53strict, probably borderline abusive, disciplinarian father.
- 25:57For sure. So we put all that together with
- 26:00a life of sobriety and my God. Yeah.
- 26:03So Scott definitely looks like the kind of guy you're not going
- 26:06to ask to go out for a fun time in Vegas, let's put it that way.
- 26:09Like, Oh my God. Well, and Kody says too that
- 26:11Scott is the one that he wanted to get approval from before
- 26:15going public with the show. So the fact that Kody is looking
- 26:20to Scott for approval, Scott has to put on this front, even in
- 26:24front of his own brothers, probably right as the head of
- 26:28the family if anything were to happen to the father.
- 26:32Yeah, I don't know. Well, and it's like we met
- 26:35Kody's Kody said. Kody's other brother up at the
- 26:38ranch in season 2. We meet an uncle and I think
- 26:43it's Kody's brother, another brother who's the ranch hand.
- 26:47So that was the other brother that we don't meet in the OR
- 26:49that's not in this episode, But and he was more like a jokester,
- 26:54kind of like he was. He struck me as a little bit
- 26:58more of a thinking man. Like he had put together new
- 27:00policies and procedures and like operations for how they were
- 27:03going to run the ranch. But then he was also like joking
- 27:06with the kids. So his older brother Scott, the
- 27:10oldest, I don't know that they really tell us what he does.
- 27:14No, they don't tell us much about him.
- 27:17He's just kind of this stoic figure that is the strictest of
- 27:22the strict of the kids still or something.
- 27:25This is where they circle back to how he has two wives.
- 27:29They live in two different homes but next to each other.
- 27:33And this is hot off the heels of Kody trying to catch up his
- 27:36brothers on how they're trying to qualify for these four homes
- 27:39and that they're running into issues with that.
- 27:41Yeah, Curtis is like what's going on with the house building
- 27:44that's supposed to be happening? Like he's been talking all this
- 27:47shit to his family, talking all this shit to his kids for how
- 27:52long now? And his brother is like, what's
- 27:54going on with those houses? Yeah.
- 27:57And I have to say here as well that this is when I notice how
- 28:02lumpy Scotts head is and we can just move on from there.
- 28:06Scotts head is lumpy. Yeah.
- 28:09Oh, Scott Porsche. Falling off one too many a
- 28:11horse, perhaps? Who knows?
- 28:13Yeah. Just saying.
- 28:14Scotts had a rough life. He just has to be responsible
- 28:18for everything all the time. Those lumps on your head don't
- 28:21form because of no responsibility.
- 28:24Looking at the three of them sitting here in this scene, I
- 28:28was thinking how Curtis just looks a lot better than them.
- 28:33And I know there's an age difference, obviously, but his
- 28:37like, teeth and everything are like nice and white and he,
- 28:40like, just looks more put together and he just looks
- 28:45healthier, if that makes sense, looking at the three of them.
- 28:49And yeah, like, part of that could be age, but also part of
- 28:53it could be you're spreading yourself too thin and you have
- 28:57more wives than you can handle and children, perhaps.
- 29:00I don't know. You know what they say, one wife
- 29:02will kill you, 2 wives will kill you early.
- 29:08Oh, except for wives always outlive their husbands for the
- 29:11for the most part. Well, this is what I'm saying
- 29:13if. You, if you have one wife,
- 29:14you're going to die for sure. Just like we're all going to
- 29:17die, but you're really going to die.
- 29:19And I mean speak for yourself. Then if you have two wives, my
- 29:21God, you're going to die. Three wives, you're going to
- 29:24die. You'll get lumps on your head.
- 29:28Your teeth will be nasty. It's going to be very
- 29:30interesting. It's going to be very
- 29:31interesting. So later that night, Michael
- 29:35shows up, everyone's super excited to see him, they run up
- 29:39to him and it's this huge deal that Michael is there.
- 29:43And they say that Michael is 19 years younger than Kody.
- 29:48Oh, the youngest. That's a lot.
- 29:51The youngest brown boy, the. Youngest of the brown boys.
- 29:54Yes, we later find out that he's 24 years old.
- 29:57Yeah, he's only 24. Michael is in the faith but
- 30:00currently monogamous and I thought maybe he was still
- 30:04dating or something. And then I see a wedding ring on
- 30:07his finger. So he is married and still
- 30:10monogamous, potentially looking. And they make a joke about him
- 30:15finding a wife on this trip and Hardy har har.
- 30:19Apparently this is a big joke that polygamists make a lot
- 30:24about finding another wife and cringe.
- 30:27They got to get in their plig jokes.
- 30:29They do. Plig plig, they do.
- 30:31And I looked at you and I said he's actually really cute with
- 30:33his hat on. Well, this is it.
- 30:35So to we wear you were like, oh, he's really cute.
- 30:38I was like, yeah, no, he totally is.
- 30:40And then the next thing we see is him without his hat on.
- 30:43And it was like, oh. And I was like, oh, with his hat
- 30:46on? His hat on.
- 30:46Yeah, Backtrack. Yeah, cuz I, you know, in the
- 30:49face he does look if he looks 24, but he looks he's cute with
- 30:57a hat on. With a hat on.
- 30:59And it's not even about the hair.
- 31:00It's not even about the hair, right?
- 31:03It was just like, yeah, not about the lack of hair, but
- 31:06there was something when he took his hat off and like his head
- 31:09shape was like different and it totally changed the way that he
- 31:12looked. And they don't make it really
- 31:14clear at first that he is married.
- 31:16They don't. Know one woman like they're they
- 31:19don't tell us that detail. So when he starts joking about
- 31:21finding another wife, it's like, oh, you're married.
- 31:24Like oh, OK. Yeah, and they show him.
- 31:25I don't know if it was like they show him like petting one of the
- 31:28children or something, but he's like bending down and like his
- 31:30hand is out. And then I noticed the ring on
- 31:33his finger and I'm like, oh, OK. Was it as big and beautiful as
- 31:38Janelle's jewelry? Her elephant ring.
- 31:40Not as gorgeous as the Elephante ring.
- 31:44Gorgeous, darling, gorgeous. At this point, we're blessed
- 31:47with a commercial break. Thank you, TLC for paying
- 31:49everyone's bills. And then when we come back, the
- 31:52wives are talking about encouraging Kody to do boys
- 31:55nights when the opportunities arrive because he just needs to
- 31:58get out with the boys. And we always say go, go, go.
- 32:03I'm like, how often does this happen?
- 32:05Probably it only happens like once a year.
- 32:06Yeah. So they're like seriously, get
- 32:08the fuck out of the house. Did you notice that they are all
- 32:11wearing that like bright royal blue except for Robyn?
- 32:15Robyn. And she's wearing like this
- 32:17bright magenta maroon color and she is sitting on the like left
- 32:22side. And then it's all the other
- 32:24wives and they're all wearing the exact same color except for
- 32:28her. And I notice it at this point.
- 32:30They had to have coordinated that.
- 32:33And do you think so? I feel like they had to have
- 32:37because it was like the exact same right?
- 32:40See, I don't, I don't remember the colors.
- 32:43It was the. I just, I remember what Robyn
- 32:44was wearing because it distracted me because she's I
- 32:46was wearing like a purple or a magenta or something that's
- 32:49like. It was magenta and they were all
- 32:51wearing like that, bright blue. It was odd to me because to me
- 32:56it was either like they all coordinated and spoke and she
- 33:00didn't, or she needs to other herself and be the pick me girl
- 33:05and like oh I'm sorry. She probably showed up to the
- 33:08interview and they had all agreed to wear that color and
- 33:10she showed up and she goes, Oh my God, I'm so sorry.
- 33:12I just didn't have that color. I just actually didn't have it,
- 33:15or it was dirty or like she had some excuse to stand out.
- 33:18Got to wear her purple hues of purple.
- 33:21Yeah, I think we've all had that.
- 33:23A girlfriend too, maybe in our friend group that says she's
- 33:26going to do something with the group and then shows up and is
- 33:29like Oh well like I just couldn't because of whatever.
- 33:32And it's like, Nah, bitch, you just wanted to try to look
- 33:34better than the rest of us. And they just, you know, she
- 33:36deserves to burn at the stake. She's a witch.
- 33:38She should, I mean. Burn her the public square.
- 33:42Pick me, girl, pick me. And this is just another one of
- 33:46those little like tiny things that it's like a little thorn in
- 33:51the thing that they all are going to gather up and then
- 33:55you're going to be like my paw. It hurts.
- 33:57I stepped in thorns. I don't know whatever.
- 34:01Like it's like a you don't notice 1 thorn at 1st and then
- 34:04all of a sudden there's like they gather.
- 34:06Full of thorns. I mean, all of a sudden I.
- 34:09Love that. I love that.
- 34:10You got fur in your fur, you got thorns in your sides, and you're
- 34:13like, fuck, Robyn happened. That's what's happening slowly
- 34:17but surely here. Don't let Robyn Brown into your
- 34:20life, no matter what you do. No, no, no, no.
- 34:23When they show the boys at the gun range.
- 34:26Yeah, the shooting range. See, I know a lot about
- 34:29motorcycles. I know a lot about shooting
- 34:31guns. This is just very much my
- 34:35expertise. You have one in your pants right
- 34:37now. A gun, Yeah.
- 34:41Pulls it out of his holster. Bang Bang, Bang, Bang Bang.
- 34:45Shoot a old friend. Oh my God.
- 34:49Kody takes out his gift gun and I immediately recognized it
- 34:53because it looks like it's like someone took a crayon box from
- 34:58when you're a kid and spray painted it black and then just
- 35:00put a little nozzle in the front.
- 35:02Like it looks like almost like a play gun, like it would be in a
- 35:05movie like the Mafia but without the round thing in the front.
- 35:08And I'm like God, God, Kody. Mafia, but without the silencer
- 35:14on it. Yeah, like he's not going to go
- 35:15Merc people in their sleep. No, he wants to hear his gun
- 35:19shoot that little designer gun that.
- 35:21Bang Bang. Who even knows what?
- 35:23He's going on and on about how excited he is about this and how
- 35:26he can smell the gunpowder in the air.
- 35:29Yes, it turns him on. It gets his blood going.
- 35:31Getting hard over it. Blood flowing.
- 35:35Oh yeah, smelling that gunpowder in the air.
- 35:38Yeehaw. I just saved myself $1000 on
- 35:41therapy after shooting my gun. All the men laugh.
- 35:46Yeah. Kody you're so funny.
- 35:49Kody It was so not funny. But you know what?
- 35:54God bless Kody. He did say he was saving $1000
- 35:58on his what? Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis.
- 36:01Some sense the word psycho was in there.
- 36:03Psychotherapy. Yeah, I just saved all this
- 36:06money. It's like, oh, Kody.
- 36:08How'd that end up for you, darling?
- 36:11We go to Janelle's house and they are making sushi.
- 36:16Sushi. Or what is supposed to be sushi.
- 36:18Sushi. What in the actual hell is?
- 36:21This There was some seaweed, there was some rice.
- 36:25I don't know that I was able to really decipher anything else
- 36:29that was going on. There was a loose roll
- 36:31happening. There was the loosest roll I
- 36:33have ever seen. I mean, come on with this loose
- 36:37roll. Yeah, like that sushi roll gave
- 36:39birth that morning. Like it was like, oh.
- 36:42Yeah, I literally wrote down looks like shit.
- 36:45Yeah, literally. Looks like shit.
- 36:49Loose the loosest rolls you've ever seen in your entire life
- 36:54and it's like weird. They like gave us a couple
- 36:57snippets of Janelle talking particularly to to Erica.
- 37:02I'm sure Erica was faining like never, never had sushi.
- 37:06Oh, I'm just from the rolling hills of Wyoming.
- 37:09It's the first time I've ever had sushi in my.
- 37:10Life like, oh God, and it's like you're going to have this is
- 37:13like, this is not sushi, by the way, this is some shit bought
- 37:16somewhere and terribly assembled by Janelle and clan so.
- 37:20Poor thing this is your first exposure to sushi.
- 37:25God, that sky friend really needs to bless you so.
- 37:28Get on your knees and pray because what you're eating is
- 37:31not real sushi. It's not like they even try to
- 37:34tighten the roll up, like they try to cut it with a knife.
- 37:38They show like a clip of it being this roll being cut with a
- 37:42knife and it's just like smashing it in half even more
- 37:46and it looks so unappetizing. And then they feed it to Erica
- 37:52and this poor woman. Just, I don't even know.
- 37:57I just feel bad for her in this moment.
- 38:00There's a couple of sound bite moments where Janelle's like,
- 38:02yeah, you know, some people say it's a texture thing.
- 38:04And I'm like, what are you feeding her?
- 38:07Please don't tell me that you went somewhere and got raw fish
- 38:10to put into this thing that you're giving her.
- 38:12Like no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 38:15It didn't look like tempura like it.
- 38:17It did look like raw salmon or some or raw tuna.
- 38:22It was at least smoked or something.
- 38:24I hope it was. God, the last thing Janelle
- 38:27needs to be doing is serving people raw food.
- 38:30Holy fucking shit can. You imagine poor Erica gets on
- 38:33the flight back home and she's just like, got diarrhea with a
- 38:37wazoo. Food poisoning from these the
- 38:39loosest rolls you've ever seen. Loosest stools from the loosest
- 38:43rolls. Erica's got a loose stool from
- 38:48her loose roll. From her loose sister-in-law.
- 38:52Yes, from loose astronel. Oh my God, Janelle the floozy.
- 38:57Wow, this is so good. And she's like just get me back
- 39:01home safely please, guy friend, please.
- 39:05Oh my God. Isn't it in that toilet, bracing
- 39:08herself with her hands on each side of the tiny little old
- 39:12bathroom? Yes.
- 39:14Cursing. Oh man, poor Erica.
- 39:17Well, she was exposed to a lot in Vegas.
- 39:20You know the worst sushi I've ever seen?
- 39:23They do show us another couch moment here where the wives are
- 39:28having a little chit chat about Erica and Christine says she
- 39:32would make a great sister wife. And then they all make this a
- 39:36weird like, well, not to us. She's our choking on their
- 39:42tongues like. Weird moment.
- 39:45Weird moment. It was a very weird moment, like
- 39:47the producer should have just like cut it, but I feel like it
- 39:50was a little like snub weirdo moment.
- 39:54I'm not sure what the purpose of it even is because it's like
- 39:56she's their sister-in-law, right?
- 39:59But they none of them know how to say that.
- 40:02Yeah, like what is she to us? It's like she's your husbands
- 40:05brothers wife. Like it's not that big of a
- 40:07deal. Yeah, like she couldn't,
- 40:09shouldn't be your sister, wife. Like why are you?
- 40:12She shouldn't leave her husband to marry her husbands brother
- 40:15Janelle. It was weird.
- 40:17Janelle, Oh my God, married to Meri's brother and then married
- 40:20to Meri's husband. Yeah, it was a weird comment.
- 40:24And then they all kind of like laugh and backtrack.
- 40:27I couldn't even figure out which one of them it was because they
- 40:29all had this weird reaction. And it served what purpose?
- 40:32Who knows? Literally none at all, because
- 40:35then they go to the boys at dinner.
- 40:37After they shoot the guns, they go to a casino for dinner.
- 40:40They need to fill their gullets with some grub after shooting
- 40:44all those guns. And you know, so many loose
- 40:47rolls at home. They don't want nothing to do
- 40:49with them loose rolls. They're going to go out for some
- 40:52steak loose. Stools from the loose rolls.
- 40:55Oh my God. Oh, wow.
- 41:00And with chopsticks, I mean, there's just so many, there's so
- 41:02many elements, so many elements. I.
- 41:04Didn't even notice the chapstick, I saw her feeding it
- 41:06to her with her fingers. Yeah.
- 41:08Oh, God. So while the boys are sitting at
- 41:12this restaurant, which is, you know, I guess a fancy
- 41:15restaurant, I don't think it was a fancy restaurant.
- 41:19I think it was a normal restaurant.
- 41:22It did have high ceilings. And horrible overhead lighting
- 41:26shining on all of their foreheads.
- 41:27Yes, there was a lot of this is The thing is it was not that
- 41:30fancy. There was like murals on the
- 41:33wall that were like, you know, I don't know.
- 41:35It was in a casino. The restaurant was in a casino.
- 41:37A lot of bad overhead lighting, A lot of receding hairlines.
- 41:42Like French fries coming with this dinner.
- 41:46Yet someone, oh, I think it was Michael, who was ordering a
- 41:50salad and the server said something about did you catch
- 41:54which vinegar red it was? I did not, no.
- 41:57The server said something like, oh it comes with A and we're not
- 42:00even talking hoity toity, we're talking.
- 42:02Like a Raspberry. Vinaigrette like literally super
- 42:06basic and Michael just waits and he's like ranch.
- 42:10I'll drink some ranch. Like Oh my God, like guess I
- 42:14mean listen, I love me some ranch.
- 42:16I mean, we're from the Midwest. We get we get the ranch in it.
- 42:20I'm. Not mad at some ranch, but like
- 42:22maybe when you're at the restaurant and you're ordering a
- 42:24salad and they recommend the vinegar out, you just get the
- 42:26vinegar out. But hey, you know, who am I got
- 42:29to get that ranch, Michael. Yeah, who the hell are you to
- 42:31say that? Shut them loose lips up or
- 42:33you're going to get some loose stools.
- 42:35OK, who the hell are? You to say that?
- 42:38Wow, who are? You to say don't get the ranch,
- 42:41Mr. Allen? My God, this episode's really
- 42:45bringing something out of Kimber, OH.
- 42:47That just I can't. All that brown testosterone,
- 42:50you're just driven crazy. I was.
- 42:52I was just being driven nuts. Michael says that God will need
- 42:56to hit him over the head with a 2 by 4 to show him when his next
- 42:59life is a common. Yes.
- 43:01And I'm just like, hello, I'm right over here.
- 43:05Hit him with that 2 by 4. Please, let's see Michael Brown.
- 43:09I might have to go see if he's still around on the Internet
- 43:12somewhere. Oh I wish we'd have done the
- 43:15math to know how old he is now. He was 24 at the time so he's
- 43:19probably like mid to late 30s I'm guessing.
- 43:21So all I have to do is take some photos of you, catfish him, set
- 43:25up this perfect romance, and then before I know it, I'm
- 43:29related to Kody fucking Brown. Well, am I related?
- 43:32No, that we are not related. Well, I did offer to carry your
- 43:37child in my womb so we could. Be Michael Brown, I'm carrying
- 43:41child. We get this weird family tree
- 43:43going on just like them. Oh no.
- 43:45Yes, yes. Michael Brown, this is Kimber.
- 43:49She's pregnant with my child. I have been catfishing you on
- 43:52the Internet. See, it's the start of a perfect
- 43:54romance. Sounds like it.
- 43:56Oh yeah, you'd have to like leave your husband 1st and I'll.
- 43:59Oh, no, no. No, no, no, no.
- 44:00What about the brother husband? This is the brother husband TLC.
- 44:06If you're listening, Ding Ding, Ding Ding Ding.
- 44:09You already have the built in audience from Sister Wives,
- 44:12right? It could be like a Bravo show
- 44:14where they start one show into another.
- 44:16It's like, oh, all of a sudden there's a transition.
- 44:18I'm seeing the inner producer and me is going mad.
- 44:20Hope you like loose rolls, loose lips and loose stools.
- 44:23Here she is. On the rolling plains of
- 44:28Wyoming, Michael does say that they're not on the hunt, but
- 44:32they're open for a second wife. So he he does need to get beat
- 44:35over the head with a two. I was going to say beat over the
- 44:38face. He does need to get smacked in
- 44:40the face by a 2 by 4. And then he might be open to
- 44:44another wife. But you know, we'll see a weird
- 44:49thing happening here is a voice over or a spotlight moment from
- 44:52Kody where he says it's been years since he's hung out with
- 44:55his brothers like this. And I found that to be a little,
- 45:00I don't know, weird. I don't know how much time
- 45:02people spend with their siblings.
- 45:03But like, I hang out with my brothers when I go home in this
- 45:08vein like once or twice a year. And that's because I just,
- 45:13that's how often I go home. I don't like go home to visit
- 45:15and then not hang out with them. So I found it to be a little
- 45:18weird that they are, I guess not all of the brothers are that
- 45:24close. Like there's Wyoming and Utah,
- 45:27so it's a bit of a thing. When you got one with 16 kids,
- 45:32then you got Kody like 16 kids and two wives, and then you've
- 45:37got this whole clusterfuck of a situation going on with Kody and
- 45:43then the other two brothers. Like they are married.
- 45:47So I imagine it's not easy to get together and if they were to
- 45:53want to get together, it probably would be expensive.
- 45:55And when you have these huge families, that chance just
- 45:59probably doesn't come along very often.
- 46:01Now with the show involved, the show probably foot the bill for
- 46:05this. So it makes sense that they're
- 46:09like, Oh yeah, sure, we can make this happen now because it's on
- 46:14someone else's dime. Yeah, they probably would pay
- 46:16for like flight and hotel and stuff like.
- 46:18That they definitely did. I mean, there's no way that they
- 46:21wouldn't have paid for at least some of this at this point in
- 46:25the show. Now, I live a very close to my
- 46:28sister, and I still don't see her as frequently as you might
- 46:33assume because we have little children.
- 46:36Yeah. So I mean, when I think of that,
- 46:39I'm like, it's not super shocking to me.
- 46:42I guess it just stood out to me because I happen to see my
- 46:45brothers more regularly and I'm like the like black sheep homo
- 46:50who's like, you know, going to impregnate my friend who's
- 46:53sleeping with polygamous and, you know, I'm the weirdo, but.
- 46:57Like you're lucky you're still invited around.
- 47:02They're happy to have me. I'm sure they are.
- 47:06Now we cut to Meri's house where Kody is leading another Sunday
- 47:11service. Oh Kody, the spiritual leader of
- 47:15the Brown family. It is a little odd that Kody is
- 47:19leading this service as opposed to his oldest brother.
- 47:24Maybe his oldest brother is like wow.
- 47:26It only makes sense that you lead the service.
- 47:28It's your home, your home base. I'm sure it has something to do
- 47:31with that because Kody starts it all out and he's preaching about
- 47:35charity, and then his brother Scott does join in and does like
- 47:40a passage or something. And then we get commentary from
- 47:47Janelle that she's glad to have other people join in because it
- 47:51gets boring when it's just them. They don't have a church
- 47:54community here, so it's always just them.
- 47:58So she's thankful to have other people joining.
- 48:00Yes, they just have these services in their homes because
- 48:03there is no polygamous church in Vegas.
- 48:06And it would be boring to listen to your parents.
- 48:08It's already boring when you're a kid going to church and then
- 48:11Can you imagine it's like your dad?
- 48:12I'd be like. Right.
- 48:15I mean, Oh my sky friend. And I'm surprised because she
- 48:18also makes a comment that Curtis's sermon or passage made
- 48:23the most impact she believes. Yeah, well, Curtis, when he's
- 48:27sermon, he's sermoning. I don't know what it means to
- 48:30sermon or what the word is to sermon.
- 48:33Curtis sermons about how they all serve one God.
- 48:41The gist is just to like, not force dogmas on others.
- 48:43Basically it's. Like the hypocrisy of doing that
- 48:47when you believe in you know what you are preaching.
- 48:51I think his example was about forcing someone to eat meat on
- 48:54Sabbath. Yeah.
- 48:55Eating meat on Sabbath like. Yeah, whatever day.
- 48:58Yeah, Kody seemed to be like he took it well, like he was
- 49:02listening and seemed like he was taking it in.
- 49:05Yeah, I think that there is crossover probably in the
- 49:08religions. He's not necessarily believing
- 49:10in the Book of Mormon anymore, but they're still Christians,
- 49:14right. So there is that crossover and.
- 49:18They practice Hanukkah. Right Hanukkah.
- 49:22Paper plates. Oh gosh, they did a close up of
- 49:26Scott's face while he was watching Curtis and he's got
- 49:30this stoic face on and like a fuzz or a family or something
- 49:35floats across like right in front of his face.
- 49:39Yes. And I just was like, he's got
- 49:41this stoic look and then there's just like something floating
- 49:43across like right in front of his face.
- 49:46And I, I don't know, so good. It caught my eye.
- 49:49Yeah, it's so realized, like, well, I guess we're going to
- 49:52keep this shot in even though there's like a gnat flying in
- 49:55front of the brother. Well, it's like, like, that's
- 49:59probably what he's thinking. Like, I still love my brother.
- 50:03I don't want to be that hypocrite, but like, fuck this
- 50:05shit. I don't know.
- 50:06My gosh, I don't know. He's the one that has had
- 50:10trouble coming to terms with the fact that his brother is no
- 50:14longer part of the Mormon faith, right?
- 50:16So he's listening to his younger brother preach and.
- 50:22Hystilitize. It yeah, it was just kind of
- 50:25ironic that they get this clip of him and it's like whatever
- 50:29right in front of his. Face, It's always fun to see the
- 50:32pious judge others and be all concerned about their families
- 50:37for not having a faith. And it's like, right, I don't
- 50:40want to say like worry about yourself, but literally worry
- 50:42about yourself. Like my God.
- 50:43Yeah, I mean, Kody basically just says back what his brother
- 50:46just said. And he's like, oh, yeah, this is
- 50:48really interesting because and just puts what his younger
- 50:53brother said just into different words.
- 50:56And it's like, OK, yeah, you had to have the last.
- 50:59We're there in your family home preaching about charity to
- 51:03everybody. It was like, yeah, OK, we get
- 51:06it, Kody. Yeah, he mansplains to his
- 51:07brother. Yeah, he just says.
- 51:09Something I know it's not mansplaining, but you know that
- 51:11thing to. The whole family, we've got to
- 51:13dumb it down. I'm going to like restate what
- 51:16you said slightly different and make it seem like I said it like
- 51:19Oh my God. Literally exactly what he did.
- 51:22And then we get Janelle, who is in this little monologue about
- 51:28how she's so worried that she hasn't taught Logan enough about
- 51:33her strong testimony and how she feels about her testimony and
- 51:38he's leaving soon. And she's just so worried that
- 51:40she hasn't imparted her beliefs on him enough.
- 51:44And she's like almost in tears talking about it her.
- 51:48Eyes are welled up. She's worried she hasn't done
- 51:52enough to instill the faith in her kids.
- 51:56Oh my God, it's like Janelle, take your burning bosom and
- 51:59chill and you know, intersplaced with her having this like very
- 52:05emotional response because Janelle's usually like pretty
- 52:08even keeled. So it's a little jarring.
- 52:10Like, it's like, got it. Faith is important to you.
- 52:13Yeah. So you had a testimony.
- 52:14Yes. You hope your kids are getting
- 52:15it. Also, your kids are, like,
- 52:17engulfed in this. Like, I don't think that Logan
- 52:20doesn't understand your faith. And interspaced with this is
- 52:24clips of Logan leading them in a prayer.
- 52:28So like, a Logan is leading the family in a prayer.
- 52:31And she's being like, I just don't know that I've done
- 52:33enough. And it's like, I guess that is a
- 52:35little bit of parenting, like you never feel like you've
- 52:38probably done enough, but like, I'm pretty sure your kids have
- 52:40been beaten over the head with your faith plenty.
- 52:43She is the one during this whole entire segment that's talking
- 52:47about how she's glad to have people joining and how Curtis
- 52:50made a good impact and all this stuff about Logan.
- 52:54And I think she's really getting in her feels about missing her
- 52:58community and missing that Mormon influence from others.
- 53:04And I think she's worried in this scenario that they've put
- 53:07themselves in that they have separated from the church too
- 53:11much and that maybe this has been a bad influence on him.
- 53:15That's kind of what I'm getting from this moment.
- 53:19A mother's intuition. You might know what she's
- 53:22thinking, what she's feeling. Yeah, I think she's realizing
- 53:26how far they've gotten away from their faith and especially with
- 53:30Scott here, who is the person that Kody looked up to.
- 53:35I just did wide eyes that Chris the.
- 53:38Overlookers. The yeah, I think she's
- 53:40realizing how distant they've gotten from their original from.
- 53:47Their cults from their literal cult.
- 53:50Yeah. And that would be, that is
- 53:52something that I don't know that they reflect on because they try
- 53:55to move so far away from being members of the AUB and of this
- 54:00cult for the show. Like they it comes up, but it
- 54:04doesn't really come up. Like they avoid it in their way.
- 54:08And so there must have been so many times of reflection where
- 54:12it's like, Oh my gosh, like it wasn't so long ago where they
- 54:15were living in the compound or in their, you know, split level,
- 54:19right? And their kids were going to
- 54:20like the church school. And they were like, oh,
- 54:23everyone's going to be polygamist and blah, blah, blah.
- 54:26Now they're in Vegas with the camera crew.
- 54:28Very different. I mean, imagine the opposite.
- 54:30Imagine you move from where we live, which is a pretty liberal
- 54:36city in. In a Yankee state, we.
- 54:39Live in like a pretty progressive area.
- 54:42Yeah. Imagine moving from here to a
- 54:47small town in Utah. Like, imagine if the roles were
- 54:51reversed, how completely out of it you would feel and how
- 54:57othered you would feel. And you would just feel, yeah,
- 55:02completely out of your element, like a fish out of water.
- 55:04And I think that this is one of the first moments where they're
- 55:08actually bringing it up and relating it to the faith.
- 55:11They keep talking about how they're not living next to each
- 55:14other and how it's so different because their homes aren't
- 55:16together. But they've never really touched
- 55:18on the religious part of it, other than that one episode
- 55:22where they talk about taking the kids to a Christian camp once in
- 55:27a while for the camaraderie of good kids.
- 55:32But other than that, they don't really talk about it.
- 55:36So it's kind of a little insight into Janelle's.
- 55:41That makes sense. And just to make it crystal
- 55:46clear, if I was to move to a small town in Utah, I would be
- 55:49the belle of the ball. Of course no one's saying you
- 55:53wouldn't be, darling. Down low freaky loser Mormon
- 55:57freaks. What a weird life that would be.
- 56:01Oh my God. Anyway, so let's not think about
- 56:05me moving to that region. Rural Utah.
- 56:10I feel like they wrapped up to leave but it was like real
- 56:12quick. They did, but it was like it was
- 56:15after this sermon. It was almost like this was like
- 56:18their little goodbye. They're leaving.
- 56:21Like they literally were packing up bags and leaving.
- 56:23Yeah, they don't make a thing of it.
- 56:25Later that day or the next day or the day after that or the
- 56:28week after that, we cut to Christine's house where we're
- 56:32going to meet with Mona, everyone's favorite Las Vegas
- 56:36realtor, real estate agent. I'm not sure if she's actually a
- 56:40realtor, but Mona, real estate agent meeting with her, she is
- 56:45all business. She asks how they're feeling.
- 56:48So maybe she's not all business. She's like, how are you feeling?
- 56:51And she's got that cleavage out. Oh.
- 56:54She's got that cleave out. I miss the boobies.
- 56:57She kind of reminds me of not a fortune teller in this moment,
- 57:02the way she's looking. She reminds me of somebody that
- 57:06you'd be sitting next to in a movie and she would tap you on
- 57:09the shoulder and she'd be like, excuse me, do you know somebody
- 57:12named Gregory? I'm getting something from
- 57:16somebody named Gregory. And he has a message for you
- 57:19from beyond. She looks like.
- 57:21What was her name like? Sylvia.
- 57:23Sylvia Brown. Sylvia Brown.
- 57:26Yes, yes. Yes, who used to go on Oprah and
- 57:29like weird shows? She was a little more like
- 57:31Maury, but. A medium, medium, medium.
- 57:39She looks like that in this moment.
- 57:41She's got her. Little like her she was.
- 57:44Going to take out a crystal and be like, hold this in your hand,
- 57:47yeah, and. It will help you get your homes.
- 57:50But this is when I noticed something because I was looking
- 57:54at Mona's cleavage and then they went to Kody and I noticed that
- 58:00it looks like Kody is wearing a Prada dress shirt.
- 58:05Yes, and it's a boring tan shirt, but it has what looks
- 58:09like a Prada logo on one of the like upper left pockets.
- 58:17Yeah, like a chest pocket, the upper flap.
- 58:19Yeah. And it is weird because it's
- 58:21like a light tan button up everyday ordinary shirt.
- 58:25You wouldn't think anything special of it at all.
- 58:28But you said, is that a Prada logo?
- 58:30And I was like, it's the triangle.
- 58:33We had to pause it and rewind and you couldn't really tell,
- 58:38but it looked like a Prada shirt.
- 58:41And I'm like, OK, if this isn't Prada, even if it's knock off
- 58:46fake Prada, you're trying to look a certain way right now and
- 58:50you're talking about your homes and your finances and how you
- 58:53can't afford these homes, and you're sitting here wearing a
- 58:56shirt that looks like a Prada shirt.
- 59:01And to be fair, the ugliest Prada shirt I've ever seen,
- 59:03which is part of the reason that I don't know if it's Prada
- 59:05because it didn't look like designer.
- 59:08Well, it looks like Banana Republic like circle that era
- 59:12like the quintessential Banana Republic from back in the day,
- 59:15where you look like you're going on a safari.
- 59:17Right. I know it was hard to tell, but
- 59:21it either is Prada or is fake Prada.
- 59:25And then immediately from that they cut to show, you know, like
- 59:28Meri and she's wearing her like spaghetti strap at her.
- 59:31It's like these women look like they are just walking out of
- 59:34like a flea market. And a Robyn has her purse
- 59:36sitting on the ground right in front of her, and it's like this
- 59:40bright red leopard print plasticy satchel bag.
- 59:46Yes. And it looks like something from
- 59:49the buckle, OK, but like, very, very gaudy, right?
- 59:56I don't even know. There's a lot going on that I
- 59:59noticed in this scene. It was like the cleavage drew my
- 1:00:02attention in, and then I started noticing these tidbits about
- 1:00:06everybody there. And it's like what in the actual
- 1:00:10fuck is happening visually for me like I was.
- 1:00:16It was a lot. It was a lot it.
- 1:00:18Was a lot to take in. And Janelle says that she is
- 1:00:20discouraged. That's her feelings.
- 1:00:22When Mona asks how they're feeling, she says she's
- 1:00:25discouraged. So discouraged.
- 1:00:27And understandably so. And to remind everyone in our
- 1:00:31last episode, they found out that they could be approved for
- 1:00:34some untraditional financing potentially that would require a
- 1:00:4040% down payment. However, the four lots that they
- 1:00:43were looking at, where they were building the two model homes,
- 1:00:46one of the homes sold. So, you know, it's kind of like
- 1:00:50cool, you could have really, really expensive financing, but.
- 1:00:53Private lending. Yeah, private.
- 1:00:55Private. So that's where we left off on
- 1:00:58our last things. That's right, because Tanya
- 1:00:59remember Tanya? Tanya, she was like fucking
- 1:01:02shirt this time. Yes, and she was like, I've got
- 1:01:05an update from Mona. They sold one of the houses and
- 1:01:07we were like, Tanya, may you burn in hell because.
- 1:01:11With a disappointment of your boring outfit this time around.
- 1:01:16Oh God. And then the Prada logo blinded
- 1:01:18us and it was like, what the hell is going on here?
- 1:01:21Mona says that we were looking at unconventional financing
- 1:01:24because, you know, two of the houses were in progress being
- 1:01:27built and that put them in a different classification, I
- 1:01:31guess, qualification. It doesn't even make sense to.
- 1:01:33Me, I don't quite follow it. I'm not going to pretend to know
- 1:01:37these things. But then Mona, you know, she's
- 1:01:40got the cleavage and she says there are 4 vacant lots at the
- 1:01:44other end of the street and it's like yeah, are you fucking
- 1:01:48kidding me? So.
- 1:01:51In the cul-de-sac at the end of the street.
- 1:01:54At the end of the street that there's four vacant lots and
- 1:01:57that they could have more time to qualify and work on their
- 1:02:00credit because there's no homes being built at the time.
- 1:02:03So they don't have to worry about someone coming in and
- 1:02:05buying the homes. All they're going to need is 5
- 1:02:08to 10% down for traditional financing.
- 1:02:10As opposed to 40% down. Like insane.
- 1:02:15It's like, was this just for television?
- 1:02:17Like the whole this whole rigmarole.
- 1:02:19Everything seems very weird. They might be buying the
- 1:02:23property instead of buying directly from the developers, so
- 1:02:29maybe we. Do find out though is they do
- 1:02:31work with developers to customize their homes.
- 1:02:34OK. I know they were going to do
- 1:02:36that for these first homes. So maybe it's different because
- 1:02:40there's some sort of like contract with the developers in
- 1:02:44these lots that are already being built on, but the other
- 1:02:46lots there's. Because there's already a
- 1:02:49homestead in progress that could make it different for the
- 1:02:53financing. Yeah, perhaps.
- 1:02:55It just seems odd to me because I would almost think that it
- 1:02:58would be more expensive to start from scratch with empty lots.
- 1:03:02Yeah, I don't really know. I guess I'm just confused by it.
- 1:03:06It doesn't make sense to me. I currently am living in the
- 1:03:10first home that I have ever like purchased like with my husband
- 1:03:14so I don't know a lot about home buying but.
- 1:03:18Well, and there's been a few references to the market in
- 1:03:22Vegas at this point, like Kody's all about like how it's a down
- 1:03:25market, it's a depressed market, they need to jump on it.
- 1:03:27So I'm not sure. I mean, basically their homes
- 1:03:31were super affordable in the sense that they turned around
- 1:03:35and sold them for a profit years later.
- 1:03:37Like, you know, the market was in their favor.
- 1:03:40They do work with the I know they work with the developer
- 1:03:42because they literally get the same like model homes where they
- 1:03:45go in and cause. OK.
- 1:03:46Yeah, but then it's so great because there's this moment
- 1:03:49where after Boda tells them they might be able to qualify for
- 1:03:53traditional financing. Janelle, Janelle.
- 1:03:56Queen Janelle. Wow, wow.
- 1:04:02Wow, wow. She's just wow, wow.
- 1:04:07Maybe she was in a coma after her loose stool.
- 1:04:11They're all like just a week hail from having diarrhea for
- 1:04:17how many days? Three days later, they're like,
- 1:04:19we can't film for three days because everyone's recovering
- 1:04:21from their food poisoning. Everyone had really loose stools
- 1:04:24for some reason the last few days.
- 1:04:27We're just getting over it just now.
- 1:04:29God, it's so wrong. And anyone who's seen this show,
- 1:04:34if you have not watched this show, if you don't know what
- 1:04:37Janelle Brown looks, if you don't know you, I hope we've
- 1:04:40given you an adequate look into who Janelle Brown is.
- 1:04:43This is not a woman you want making you sushi.
- 1:04:46I just no. I mean, I just don't want any
- 1:04:50white person making me sushi if I'm being fucking honest.
- 1:04:53I'm so sorry. I'd eat my own sushi.
- 1:04:55I know how to make a roll. Pretty tight girl.
- 1:04:57OK, I shouldn't say any white person.
- 1:05:00A gay person you can trust a gay white man to make you some.
- 1:05:04Sushi. Oh my gosh.
- 1:05:05I should say I wouldn't want most people, most white people
- 1:05:09to make me sushi, I mean. But even making even, I know
- 1:05:14we're going back. I mean, I need to get over it,
- 1:05:16but I don't think that there. I don't know.
- 1:05:19I don't know. It looked like raw fish.
- 1:05:22See this is I can't believe there would be raw fish.
- 1:05:24That's insane. I would never serve someone raw
- 1:05:27fish in my kitchen being like I'm just going to Willy nilly it
- 1:05:31like Oh my God no. I mean, I think my husband would
- 1:05:34do this. Well, yeah, but your.
- 1:05:36Husband, but he's a good. Cook.
- 1:05:37He's a good cook, Yeah. And he does leave things out for
- 1:05:41too long, so. He does, he does.
- 1:05:45And I got to say, a lot of the time I just some like the person
- 1:05:49that walks by because I'm just like, when's it going to get put
- 1:05:51away? When's it going to get put away?
- 1:05:55And I shouldn't let it happen either, but well.
- 1:05:58It is funny how it's like an hour and then like 2 hours and
- 1:06:01I'm like that food is still sitting out on the fucking.
- 1:06:03Corner. I know.
- 1:06:05Trust me. But you know what?
- 1:06:09If if your husband wanted to make me sushi, I would say,
- 1:06:12let's go to the grocery store and let me watch you buy it.
- 1:06:14Let me watch you roll it. I when I was younger, I watched
- 1:06:19Oprah like every day after school and she would have like
- 1:06:23specialists on that would talk about certain things.
- 1:06:26And there was one time she had somebody on that was talking
- 1:06:29about cleaning and they went into like depth about all the
- 1:06:31bacteria in certain areas and this and that.
- 1:06:34And I literally went on a cleaning spree that day.
- 1:06:38And my mom came home and the entire house was like spic and
- 1:06:41span. And she's like, what happened?
- 1:06:43And my mom to this day jokes about how I was that kid that
- 1:06:46all of a sudden she'd come home one day and like everything
- 1:06:49would have been cleaned like top to bottom.
- 1:06:51And it would just happen like every few months.
- 1:06:53This is just how I was. And there was a point in one of
- 1:06:58these shows where they talked about food and they talked about
- 1:07:03leftovers and how soon they should be put in the fridge
- 1:07:05after you are done with them or everyone's done eating them.
- 1:07:09And there were a lot of people. They had those little tablets
- 1:07:13that you could, like, put in your answer of what you thought
- 1:07:16it would be. And so many people thought you
- 1:07:19had to wait for the food to fully cool before putting it
- 1:07:22away in the fridge. OK, When that's just not true.
- 1:07:25Like you should just put it away as soon as everyone's done
- 1:07:27eating it, regardless of if it's warm or not when you put it in
- 1:07:30the fridge. OK?
- 1:07:31And I've never asked my husband, but part of me wonders if he
- 1:07:35thinks that there's like this certain thing that he needs to
- 1:07:38be doing. I don't know.
- 1:07:39Oh. Girl.
- 1:07:41I hope. I hope not.
- 1:07:43I don't know. All I know is I've seen a
- 1:07:46similar TV show where they showed the close-ups of the like
- 1:07:49things that start to grow out of the food pretty quickly.
- 1:07:52Like the little buggy bug bugs and.
- 1:07:55Yeah, we're going on a side tangent, but yeah, I totally
- 1:07:59know exactly loose. Stools.
- 1:08:00Loose stools. Yeah, I know exactly what you're
- 1:08:04talking about, trust me. Mona tells them that there are
- 1:08:07no alternatives that she's found in looking at, you know,
- 1:08:10properties or at other avenues for them to take.
- 1:08:14Given that her update was so like, Oh yeah, it turns out
- 1:08:18there's four lots down the road and the finance would actually
- 1:08:20be better, Do I trust Mona? Jury's out.
- 1:08:23I don't want to call Mona a bad real estate agent because I'm
- 1:08:27hoping to have her as a guest on the podcast.
- 1:08:29Oh yes. Mona, can you hear me?
- 1:08:32Mona, if you're out there, we'd love to ask you about Vegas real
- 1:08:36estate. We'd also like to ask you if
- 1:08:39you've ever had a loose stool from Janelle's Loose Sushi
- 1:08:42Roast. But I don't know.
- 1:08:45I mean, you know, whatever. I guess.
- 1:08:46According to Mona, there's nothing else they can do, which
- 1:08:49I don't believe, but we'll just go with it.
- 1:08:50It's television. Well, we kind of almost have to
- 1:08:53believe her because at this point it's obvious that she's a
- 1:08:56medium and probably has a crystal ball somewhere, and so
- 1:08:59she knows for a fact that this is all that there is.
- 1:09:02She has looked in that crystal ball.
- 1:09:04And to be fair, to be fair, she is dealing with an
- 1:09:09unconventional situation here and she is looking for four
- 1:09:13motherfucking homes. Where the financing is all
- 1:09:16intertwined because like Kody's on who's homes how and like they
- 1:09:20don't really dive into that, but it's got to be a mess.
- 1:09:23And it's mentioned in this clip, of course, like you said that
- 1:09:28they could have time to build their credit up.
- 1:09:30And I'm wondering what that? The only one that I know of at
- 1:09:36this point based on the show and like what we know is that Robyn
- 1:09:40has bad credit, right? And they've they've definitely
- 1:09:43not hidden that from us. So I think as we go through the
- 1:09:48next episodes, we might find out that she's not the only one.
- 1:09:52But for sure Robyn. Well, because in their book they
- 1:09:56talk about how they keep their finances separate.
- 1:09:59But we've talked in this, you know, podcast before how we
- 1:10:03don't quite understand how they split it up and that we would
- 1:10:06hope they'd be smart enough to have an LLC at this point and be
- 1:10:10splitting the income from the show so that it looks like they
- 1:10:12each have their own income. But are they smart enough to be
- 1:10:15doing that? We don't fucking know.
- 1:10:17So it will be interesting to see if we get more clarity about
- 1:10:20that. Yeah.
- 1:10:21And rumor mills about just like with all polygamists and the AUB
- 1:10:26and these fundamentalist cults, yeah, the years of potentially
- 1:10:32doing things to qualify for government assistance where
- 1:10:35maybe there's some. Yeah, some.
- 1:10:37Fudging. Yeah.
- 1:10:38Yeah, Like I dropped the white out over these numbers.
- 1:10:41Like, who knows? And maybe some bankruptcies
- 1:10:45where you just rack up a bunch of credit card debt and then
- 1:10:48declare bankruptcy and you have multiple incomes so you're not
- 1:10:52actually destitute, you're just declaring bankruptcy.
- 1:10:56If you're single and you've never been married to that
- 1:10:58person, they can't come after that person's money.
- 1:11:01Now, if I were to divorce my husband and file bankruptcy,
- 1:11:06they would go after my husband's money.
- 1:11:08Let's do. It next week.
- 1:11:09No, he can't. I think I'm just saying you
- 1:11:11couldn't even do that. Like you cannot do that.
- 1:11:14It doesn't work. So if you're in.
- 1:11:16This Kody's only legal legally married to Meri.
- 1:11:19Right. So if you're in this polygamous
- 1:11:21quote UN quote marriage, marriage in the church's eyes
- 1:11:24but not in the government's eyes, you can do a lot of things
- 1:11:28like that. And I suppose like, why wouldn't
- 1:11:30you? Especially if you've got all
- 1:11:31these kids and your husband's in and out of work and some of the
- 1:11:35wives aren't working. I mean, I'm not trying to say
- 1:11:39that it has happened, right? But we can imagine.
- 1:11:43Allegedly. Allegedly.
- 1:11:44Yeah. Who knows?
- 1:11:46Rumor mill. Rumor mill, right?
- 1:11:48Not based on facts. Yep.
- 1:11:50Our legal department said that we cannot prove these claims.
- 1:11:53OK, so they are all talking about their hopes to wrap up
- 1:11:57this episode, right? Like, it's like, OK, we're
- 1:11:59coming to the end of the episode.
- 1:12:00They're all going to give their like, huh?
- 1:12:03And Robyn says, oh, it's like you're telling me that OK, that
- 1:12:07was way too fast. Robyn.
- 1:12:08Oh, no, she's still fast at this point.
- 1:12:09She has, she hasn't had the gas leak in the house yet.
- 1:12:11So she's she's like, I think what I'm hearing you tell me is
- 1:12:16that there might be a second chance.
- 1:12:20It's like, yes, Robyn, you fucking moron.
- 1:12:22It's. Even worse than that.
- 1:12:24She goes. She goes.
- 1:12:26You're basically offering us a second chance at hoping I was.
- 1:12:34Like I knew I was doing too good for Robyn.
- 1:12:37That was amazing. Honey, you do a good Robyn.
- 1:12:42You know. Start of.
- 1:12:43Every show I've ever been in so. Well, and then someone else said
- 1:12:46something I don't know. And then Christine said it would
- 1:12:50take an absolute miracle to get into the homes.
- 1:12:53At this point, she's not feeling so optimistic.
- 1:12:57And you know, Christine, based on how she looks, I wouldn't be
- 1:13:01too optimistic either. Her skin is awful in these
- 1:13:04episodes. Like she's just, she's going
- 1:13:07through something. I don't know.
- 1:13:08She is and we haven't heard a lot from her in the last couple
- 1:13:11episodes, I don't think like. It's like she was being shamed
- 1:13:15by Robyn and shamed by Kody and then she tried to apologize and
- 1:13:18all these things and now she just looks like a mess.
- 1:13:20Yeah, something's going on with her here and I, I think that
- 1:13:26they've kind of kept her quiet the last couple episodes, so I
- 1:13:30don't know. It's true.
- 1:13:31Yeah. I mean, I don't even want to
- 1:13:33pile onto the. I don't want that to pile onto
- 1:13:35the Christine hate. I'm just saying, yeah, in these
- 1:13:37episodes she looks like she's like just woke up and didn't
- 1:13:41even really care and came to the job.
- 1:13:43Like it's a little Janelle vibe. She's checked out.
- 1:13:46She's checked out. She is checked out.
- 1:13:47She is checked out. I'm so mean.
- 1:13:51Yeah, well, they leave us on a real high here with that quote
- 1:13:54from her at the end. That's literally the.
- 1:13:56End. That's literally the end of
- 1:13:57their being. Like I don't have much hope.
- 1:14:00Yeah, OK, cool. All right.
- 1:14:04Thanks Christine, the time has come for you to choose a mustard
- 1:14:12seed for this fabulous episode. Mustard seed.
- 1:14:18I've confidence in you. My mustard seed is going to
- 1:14:23Erica and I will tell you it's going to Erica because she is
- 1:14:30just full of so much hope and light and joy and she is like
- 1:14:36thank fucking God that my husband doesn't believe this
- 1:14:39bullshit anymore. But I can have fun with it while
- 1:14:42I'm here and see these crazy ass like brother and sister in laws
- 1:14:48of mine and enjoy it and then sayonara back to my normal
- 1:14:53fucking life. And like we said, she has this
- 1:14:57energy about her where she is kind of I, I don't even want to
- 1:15:03say oversharing, but she's got this optimistic energy about her
- 1:15:07in her clips that she is in. And so, Erica, you are getting
- 1:15:11my mustard seed. That's amazing.
- 1:15:14Erica does deserve this mustard seed.
- 1:15:16Yeah, right. Imagine marrying into that
- 1:15:18family like Oh my God. Her husband says at one point,
- 1:15:22like, are you ever worried about me deciding I want a second
- 1:15:25wife? And they both laugh about like,
- 1:15:27how ridiculous it is. And she's like, no.
- 1:15:30And he's like, no, I don't want that.
- 1:15:31Don't worry about it. And it's just kind of funny
- 1:15:34because they're part of the family, but they're so far
- 1:15:36removed from the lifestyle and religion at this point that she
- 1:15:42feels comfortable and confident in her marriage.
- 1:15:43And I'm like, you go girl, you do you.
- 1:15:46I think I'm going to give my mustard seed to Curtis.
- 1:15:50OK. Because Curtis and Erica make a
- 1:15:54beautiful couple. They do.
- 1:15:56And Curtis has the personal strengths and convictions to
- 1:16:03follow what he thinks is right. And so he has chosen a path that
- 1:16:07is not polygamy just because his family is entrenched in the
- 1:16:11cult. And I also like that when they
- 1:16:15talk about, I'm sure a producer prompted it or something, but
- 1:16:19he's talking about having an bringing in a second wife.
- 1:16:21And he's like, no, like it's just not for me.
- 1:16:24Like, I, I wouldn't want to do it.
- 1:16:26And it's, it's authentic. Like he knows that he's.
- 1:16:29Yeah. For sure.
- 1:16:30A one person person and I appreciate that.
- 1:16:33And he also seemed like an all around nice guy.
- 1:16:35Like he probably was the brother I'd want to hang out with.
- 1:16:38If the someone was like holding a gun to my head and being like
- 1:16:40you have to hang out with one of them, I'd be like Curtis, you
- 1:16:43know, if they said you have to sleep with one of them, I would
- 1:16:45say Michael, but hang out with one of them definitely.
- 1:16:49You'd have to cite me for that one.
- 1:16:52See, I was tempted to give Michael my mustard seed, but
- 1:16:54then I thought, no, I'd give him a different kind of seed.
- 1:16:56So I'm going to go with Curtis. As long as Michael keeps his hat
- 1:17:00on during any exchanges. I'm like, can you put on one of
- 1:17:04those hats that is like ears? Like a Mickey Mouse?
- 1:17:08Yeah. Like a like a bear, like a like
- 1:17:14a bear or something. I'd be like, oh, you're so cute.
- 1:17:17Well, cuz you need something to like make that head the right
- 1:17:19shape. I don't know.
- 1:17:21Anyway, Curtis gets I'm. Talking about a trapper hat.
- 1:17:24Maybe, I don't know, like Danny Go.
- 1:17:27That's like a flying cap. I'll see.
- 1:17:29I don't know these words. I don't know.
- 1:17:31OK, so Curtis, Curtis, Curtis take my seed.
- 1:17:35Okay now shit stain darling, shit stain.
- 1:17:40This ones going to be real. Oh boy, I feel like there's some
- 1:17:44contenders here and not very like strong.
- 1:17:50Agreed. I feel like there's a lot of
- 1:17:52like weak contenders, like they all had maybe like a little bit
- 1:17:55of loose stool here, the loose like a full blown blowout.
- 1:18:01Other than poor Erica on the plane on the way home, little.
- 1:18:05Smear. Like Little.
- 1:18:07Smear from the loose stool. My shit stain is going to go to
- 1:18:14marry and not because of the hair alone, but because of her
- 1:18:22falsifying the record of not being crafty.
- 1:18:29After all of that she has said and all of the hand own pajamas
- 1:18:34that she has done, yes this bitch has the audacity.
- 1:18:39Thank you. To walk through the Artful
- 1:18:43Potter. She walks that ass through the
- 1:18:46Artful Potter and that hair with that hair and has the audacity
- 1:18:52to pretend that she is not crafty and it's just a ploy.
- 1:18:57She's a liar and a fraud. It's just a ploy.
- 1:18:59It totally, totally is. Let's get a little more screen
- 1:19:02time. Reminding everyone at home and
- 1:19:04me about the Christmas pajamas. Yeah, she literally makes
- 1:19:08pajamas for all the kids. Every single motherfucker
- 1:19:11Christmas. She does like she's insane.
- 1:19:13She does decor and decorating for every holiday.
- 1:19:15Like just Valentine's Day she had all the shit on the table.
- 1:19:17It doesn't make any sense. Yet all of the women are halfway
- 1:19:20done painting their projects, and she's still perusing the
- 1:19:23shelves like. As if there aren't like only 20
- 1:19:26projects to fucking pick from in this place.
- 1:19:28Like get your ass out. For issues that she's indecisive
- 1:19:31and never happy. Not that she's not crafty.
- 1:19:34And I mean I can relate. Yeah, So what about you?
- 1:19:38That's a good shit stain. My shit stain definitely goes to
- 1:19:43Chanel for thinking that she should be making sushi in her
- 1:19:48home for an out of state guest. What sparked this?
- 1:19:53She might as well have given her a coffee enema in the bathtub
- 1:19:56while she was visiting, right? Yeah, that would have been
- 1:19:58better, I think. But at least it would have been
- 1:20:00expected. It would have, yeah.
- 1:20:03I, I, I'm curious the origin stories of this loose sushi
- 1:20:08because like, my God, I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of
- 1:20:12the kids suggested it. If a production person, if a
- 1:20:16producer told her to do it, that is like malpractice.
- 1:20:20Like that is wrong. Sue the fuck out of.
- 1:20:22America. Sue them for that tapeworm that
- 1:20:25you just found out that you have from 10 years ago from this.
- 1:20:29Erica, if the what is that called when the crime is no
- 1:20:32longer whatever? Oh, the statute of limitations.
- 1:20:36On food places, Erica, if the statute of limitations has not
- 1:20:39run out, investigate this because you might have a case.
- 1:20:44I'm sorry Janelle, but you just should not be serving anyone
- 1:20:47sushi. Well, and it was one of the kids
- 1:20:49too that was rolling it up and like cutting it and like I.
- 1:20:53Think it might have been Maddie I.
- 1:20:54Just almost want to take that scene of the rolling and the
- 1:20:59cutting and like take a clip and do it on repeat and do it like
- 1:21:03forward and backward and forwards and backwards because
- 1:21:06it was so absurd. It was so absurd that I just
- 1:21:11think people need to see it. I don't know.
- 1:21:13Loose rolls and loose stools and Janelle's country kitchen.
- 1:21:21Thank you for that. Our keep Sweet moment this week
- 1:21:25comes to us from Maddie. She left us a comment on
- 1:21:28Spotify. It's very cute, she says.
- 1:21:32This quickly became a favorite podcast for me.
- 1:21:34It's a good mix of snark and good vibes.
- 1:21:37When my feed started auto playing a new episode, I was
