- 0:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I love his work ethic, love what he's put
- 0:29Speaker 2: into this entire offseason. I mean he's here every day
- 0:31Speaker 2: just training in doing everything he can. I think the
- 0:33Speaker 2: cool thing is he's a really smart player. We've seen
- 0:37Speaker 2: the explosiveness, but because of his smarts and his football IQ,
- 0:40Speaker 2: I think he's, you know, truly any down, every down,
- 0:43Speaker 2: he can play a really valuable role in that situation
- 0:45Speaker 2: where you're not rotating as much. And so yeah, I'm excited. Obviously,
- 0:48Speaker 2: running backs are a little bit of a challenge assessment
- 0:50Speaker 2: right now, just because the run game is fairly limited
- 0:53Speaker 2: to walk through and you know, a couple team things
- 0:55Speaker 2: here and there. So I'm excited for him though, But
- 0:57Speaker 2: he's he's done an awesome John.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Gillen More, we're talking about I have his Achian Kat
- 1:02Speaker 1: Terrell at Saints OTA's listening to Kellen Moore now joining
- 1:06Speaker 1: us here. How are you?
- 1:08Speaker 3: I'm doing great that it's just at that point where
- 1:12Speaker 3: it's getting really hot, but it's not unbearably hot yet. Yeah,
- 1:16Speaker 3: so you know, I'm excited about August.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Have you figured out how to say Have you figured
- 1:22Speaker 1: out how to say Achan without any any hesitation?
- 1:27Speaker 3: Yes? But I noticed a lave and an interview from
- 1:31Speaker 3: two weeks ago said etn. Oh, so they're gonna have
- 1:34Speaker 3: to work on that with him.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Is there gonna be a problem in the locker room.
- 1:40Speaker 3: He's a nice enough guy. I truly don't think he
- 1:42Speaker 3: cares well.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Then I'm calling him ETN.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I think that's why this has gone on for so long,
- 1:49Speaker 3: because he said an interview I told you this. I
- 1:51Speaker 3: think he said an interview at Clemson that it was
- 1:53Speaker 3: actually a chan and then everyone called an ETN for
- 1:56Speaker 3: the next few years. I think he's just like, it's fine,
- 2:01Speaker 3: So I don't I don't think. I think things just
- 2:03Speaker 3: roll off his back.
- 2:04Speaker 1: It's like moscona Mascana Moscone I'm like Trell Terrell, Yeah, yeah,
- 2:11Speaker 1: you get it too. Huh, but you only have two
- 2:13Speaker 1: iterations Terrell or Terrell. What do you Oh?
- 2:16Speaker 3: That's true. I don't think. I don't think there's a
- 2:17Speaker 3: been a third one.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I got so many vowels. People mess up the
- 2:21Speaker 1: vowels and the spellings are insane too. On my name,
- 2:23Speaker 1: like how which you know? What The crazy thing is, Kat,
- 2:25Speaker 1: is when I do an interview, like on someone else's show,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and they're like, uh, great sports talker, love this show,
- 2:32Speaker 1: listen all the time at Mascana, I'm like, Nope, you
- 2:35Speaker 1: don't ever. You have never listened to my show ever,
- 2:38Speaker 1: Like literally, that is not Or.
- 2:39Speaker 3: When someone asked you to come on uh your show,
- 2:43Speaker 3: and then they asked you and I pronounce your name
- 2:45Speaker 3: and then five seconds later they mispronounced that. That always
- 2:47Speaker 3: cracks me up. I'm like, well, at least I'll try
- 2:51Speaker 3: it not not you guys. That does happen and it
- 2:55Speaker 3: makes me laugh.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Kat Terrell is our guest here on on are Far.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I just obviously okay, so uh you have any observations
- 3:04Speaker 1: of watching Han so far?
- 3:08Speaker 3: I mean, is that really uh specifically about him? Yet?
- 3:11Speaker 3: I feel like at least for me to focus obviously
- 3:16Speaker 3: out of practice, but the focus in general is so
- 3:18Speaker 3: much on what's Kamara going to do and how is
- 3:21Speaker 3: this going to work? With Kamara is so it's hard
- 3:26Speaker 3: for me to get a picture of how the running
- 3:29Speaker 3: backs are going to look or how they're going to
- 3:31Speaker 3: utilize them, or how Ahrian looks until we figure out
- 3:34Speaker 3: Kamara is on the team in twenty twenty six, and
- 3:38Speaker 3: Kellen was asked a lot of questions about that today,
- 3:40Speaker 3: and I bet he'll be asked a lot of questions
- 3:42Speaker 3: about that next week until me figure this out. So
- 3:44Speaker 3: it almost to me looks it feels like a holding
- 3:48Speaker 3: pattern until this thing is settled. But I think regardless,
- 3:53Speaker 3: he's running back one going into the season, Camara or not.
- 3:58Speaker 1: You use you covered this team a long time. What
- 4:02Speaker 1: do you think happens with Kamara? Or has your opinion
- 4:06Speaker 1: changed at all?
- 4:10Speaker 3: No, I think so. I mean you know this, I'm
- 4:13Speaker 3: when it comes to the NFL in the off season,
- 4:17Speaker 3: I'm very much a numbers person in terms of looking
- 4:21Speaker 3: at the numbers and kind of determining for the most part,
- 4:25Speaker 3: what they'll do with any given player, you know, based
- 4:28Speaker 3: on their salary and production. I mean, sometimes it's just all,
- 4:32Speaker 3: you know, kind of laid out there for you. And
- 4:34Speaker 3: with Kamara, when you look at his salary, it didn't
- 4:37Speaker 3: match his production last year and really not the year
- 4:40Speaker 3: before and his age. So you know, you're looking at
- 4:44Speaker 3: that back in January and I said he will probably
- 4:48Speaker 3: be asked to take a pay cut or a potential
- 4:51Speaker 3: candidate for a release because he's making twelve million dollars
- 4:54Speaker 3: and that didn't change when they signed agent, and that
- 4:57Speaker 3: is another twelve million dollar running back. You don't pay
- 5:01Speaker 3: two running backs twelve million dollars each unless they're just
- 5:04Speaker 3: the greatest running backs in the NFL. And you have
- 5:06Speaker 3: this amazing duo. And so the only thing that surprised
- 5:10Speaker 3: me is that it is June, and it's almost like
- 5:14Speaker 3: it's still being tiptoed around this whole situation. It's almost
- 5:19Speaker 3: like they're tiptoeing around it. Whereas you know when you
- 5:22Speaker 3: saw Cam Jordan take a pay cut and Tired Matthew
- 5:26Speaker 3: take a pay cut and players before them, that it
- 5:29Speaker 3: occurred in you know, February or March. But the cap
- 5:32Speaker 3: situation is better this year, so that kind of could
- 5:35Speaker 3: possibly play into why they were able to wait until
- 5:39Speaker 3: June or July or whenever this gets figured out.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Are you.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I know that they're limited in what they do on
- 5:47Speaker 1: the field and OTA's, but has any one or anything
- 5:51Speaker 1: caught your eye?
- 5:54Speaker 3: Isaiah Stalvard had an interception today, so he was the
- 5:58Speaker 3: guy that caught my eye. I didn't go to the
- 6:00Speaker 3: first open practice because I was on vacation for a
- 6:05Speaker 3: wedding in Rome at Hard Life, you know. Way, Yeah,
- 6:12Speaker 3: I was really missing OTAs when I was in Rome
- 6:14Speaker 3: at my friend's wedding. But it was weird to come
- 6:16Speaker 3: back and have not gone to that open practice because
- 6:20Speaker 3: I'd never miss OTAs. So even in the one practice,
- 6:24Speaker 3: it's it's jolting to come back and you're trying to
- 6:26Speaker 3: play catch up. So to me, I think Banker has
- 6:31Speaker 3: been a guy I've been watching a lot, just kind
- 6:35Speaker 3: of his growth and what they do with him. Wide
- 6:38Speaker 3: receivers kind of feels the same situation as running back
- 6:41Speaker 3: in terms of I look at it, but there's a
- 6:43Speaker 3: couple of wide receivers important ones not practicing right now,
- 6:46Speaker 3: so it just kind of feels like it's, you know,
- 6:49Speaker 3: filling time until maybe they get to mini camp and
- 6:52Speaker 3: maybe they ramp Jordan's Tyson up or a lot.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Of a does more.
- 6:57Speaker 3: So A lot of eyes for me are on defense
- 7:00Speaker 3: right now and kind of how they're going to figure
- 7:02Speaker 3: that out with some key guys gone.
- 7:05Speaker 1: What what defensive position battles do you think we're looking
- 7:09Speaker 1: at our roster battles are we looking at when we
- 7:12Speaker 1: get to camp.
- 7:14Speaker 3: I think the one that's going to be talked about
- 7:16Speaker 3: most is the star position with Alante Taylor gone and
- 7:19Speaker 3: right now Yonis Sanker taking snaps there and we'll kind
- 7:23Speaker 3: of see what happens with him, and also with Julian
- 7:26Speaker 3: Blackman at safety. I think we're still kind of waiting
- 7:32Speaker 3: on Kim Jordan in terms of what they're going to
- 7:35Speaker 3: do with the defensive end rotation. I wonder if if
- 7:40Speaker 3: Jordan does sign and when that happens, if he you know,
- 7:45Speaker 3: kind of slots back into where he was last year,
- 7:48Speaker 3: or if he's more of a you know, a guy
- 7:50Speaker 3: who rotates in and doesn't start. I don't know. I
- 7:55Speaker 3: think that one's interesting. But the guy I'm looking at
- 7:58Speaker 3: as a who could have a huge season and this
- 8:02Speaker 3: is a surprise, is Chase Young. Maybe it's because I
- 8:04Speaker 3: was just talking to Brandon Staley today and he was
- 8:06Speaker 3: just talking about how, one he feels like Chase Young
- 8:10Speaker 3: is a potential, you know, leader in this room. And
- 8:13Speaker 3: two he kind of said, you know, we've talked to
- 8:16Speaker 3: him about the expectations for this year, and naturally they
- 8:19Speaker 3: rise after the end of last year. He still had
- 8:22Speaker 3: ten sacks even though he missed five games at the
- 8:24Speaker 3: beginning of the season, And so it doesn't make you
- 8:26Speaker 3: wonder it can Chase Young take last season and kind
- 8:30Speaker 3: of run with it and become the new star of
- 8:32Speaker 3: this defense.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's we were looking at a day ago. It
- 8:36Speaker 1: is astoniing. We've talked so much about Cam Jordan's ten
- 8:39Speaker 1: and a half sacks. Forget in just twelve games, missing
- 8:42Speaker 1: the first five, Chase Young had a double digit sack season. Like,
- 8:46Speaker 1: it's really exciting to think what he could be next year.
- 8:48Speaker 1: You mentioned you talked to Staley. Did he say anything
- 8:50Speaker 1: else of note, Well, we.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Talked to him a lot, specifically about Sanker because people
- 8:55Speaker 3: are so interested in that and you know where he's
- 8:58Speaker 3: grown and what they see out of them. And he
- 9:01Speaker 3: said a lot of the reason they wanted to put
- 9:03Speaker 3: him in the star position this year was because he
- 9:07Speaker 3: has a specific type of speed that works for that position.
- 9:10Speaker 3: He was saying, you know, in that position, you can't
- 9:12Speaker 3: have speed where you basically have to build it up.
- 9:15Speaker 3: You know, you have to have I think, he said,
- 9:18Speaker 3: like quick trigger speed, and he said Stanker really shows that.
- 9:23Speaker 3: He also said, if you look at the last part
- 9:26Speaker 3: of the season, the last six games, he said that
- 9:28Speaker 3: was Sanker's best part of the season, which kind of
- 9:31Speaker 3: coincides with probably a lot of people's best part of
- 9:34Speaker 3: the season. After you know, the since built up a
- 9:37Speaker 3: lot of momentum at the end of the season. I
- 9:39Speaker 3: think the big thing for him is, you know, does
- 9:41Speaker 3: he take that big leap forward in the second year,
- 9:45Speaker 3: because he said, you know, he started out, you know,
- 9:48Speaker 3: really having a lot of success and then he had
- 9:51Speaker 3: to fight through a lot of things like a lot
- 9:53Speaker 3: of rookies do at the middle of the season, and
- 9:55Speaker 3: end of the season was where he really kind of
- 9:57Speaker 3: started to evolve. And so, you know, that's a guy
- 10:01Speaker 3: I want to watch. And also I already mentioned Blackman,
- 10:04Speaker 3: but I want to watch him do after all the
- 10:05Speaker 3: hype last year at training camp and then he only
- 10:08Speaker 3: got to play in one game.
- 10:09Speaker 1: It's crazy. Two more things one. Everyon's asking about Jordan Tyson,
- 10:14Speaker 1: but any of the rookies standing out or getting any
- 10:18Speaker 1: attention for any any particular reason.
- 10:21Speaker 3: There haven't been a lot of rookie standouts yet. Honestly,
- 10:26Speaker 3: I think a lot of them are hurt right now,
- 10:28Speaker 3: which every Saints fan wants to hear. I don't think
- 10:32Speaker 3: that necessarily means cause for alarm or anything. I think
- 10:35Speaker 3: this particular medical staff just really likes to take things
- 10:40Speaker 3: slowly with some of these injuries. So Tyson has been limited,
- 10:46Speaker 3: Delp has been dealing with something. Miller at the hamstring issue.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Just run down this list. I do wonder if they
- 10:56Speaker 3: do try to ramp like I said, rampanty these guys
- 11:00Speaker 3: up for the two days of mandatory mini camp next week,
- 11:04Speaker 3: just because they're going to go on a big break
- 11:06Speaker 3: after that. But yeah, it's kind of been a little
- 11:09Speaker 3: quiet on the on the rookie front. What far, what.
- 11:13Speaker 1: About a lasting specialist, place kicker, return special or anything
- 11:17Speaker 1: like that, anything notable?
- 11:20Speaker 3: Tyson was he although he really didn't do much today,
- 11:24Speaker 3: he was working as a returner a little bit at
- 11:27Speaker 3: least if he was back there. So it's kind of
- 11:31Speaker 3: funny to say a guy who really is not practicing
- 11:35Speaker 3: that much would be in a returner role, but I
- 11:37Speaker 3: think it was just more of them trying to figure
- 11:40Speaker 3: out who they want back there. I believe that Charlie
- 11:44Speaker 3: Smith went six for six today with his kicks. You know,
- 11:48Speaker 3: if fans, I feel like kind of fell in love
- 11:49Speaker 3: with him last year, and so it'll be kind of
- 11:52Speaker 3: interesting to see what kind of summer he has because
- 11:54Speaker 3: he kind of struggled in camp last summer, so he's
- 11:57Speaker 3: got to have a lot of consistency. Sorry, I'm looking
- 12:01Speaker 3: at my notes as i'm as I'm talking to you,
- 12:03Speaker 3: trying to see what stood out. It was just one
- 12:06Speaker 3: of those days where there wasn't a ton of standout
- 12:09Speaker 3: things to talk about, which I think is probably good
- 12:13Speaker 3: at this point, better than talking about and someone getting
- 12:16Speaker 3: injured or anything like that.
- 12:19Speaker 1: No doubt, mandatory minicamp next week. See how this offseason
- 12:22Speaker 1: continues to progress. She is Kat Terroll, not to be
- 12:26Speaker 1: confused with Kat Terrell. That's a different person altogether at
- 12:29Speaker 1: Cat under Scoretow. If you want to give her a
- 12:31Speaker 1: follow ESPN dot com, I always appreciate it. Kat.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Thank you, thanks for having me on Matt. Talk to
- 12:36Speaker 3: you soon.
- 12:36Speaker 1: We'll see you
