- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Welcome to week four of the Section 4 football season.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Today, Roger Neal and I will be analyzing four games of the week.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: All four games are scheduled for Friday night at 7 p.m.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: One game is a non-division game, but the other three are divisional games.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Four of the eight teams are undefeated, but only one game is between undefeated teams.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Remember, check with your school for any last-minute schedule updates.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Let's get going.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: We begin with our first game, which is a non-divisional game, which Corning Painted Post brings their two-in-one record in, and they're at class double-A.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: They're going to travel to Ty Cod Stadium to take on the also two-in-one Union Endicott Tigers out of Class A.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: And Union Endicott's had uh good success with teams out west here.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: They beat uh Horseheads, and then they beat Elmira.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: So, what can we expect in this game, Roger?
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Well, maybe a little added incentive for the UV Tigers.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: You know, they've had extensive renovations done on Tycom Stadium, and they are set to roll for the first time this season on their home turf.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: So that should be an added plus for them.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: They played some very good football so far.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: One of the keys the ground game, Nick Lang, 208 yards on the ground in their win against Elmira last week, 37-20.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Now, points for the Tigers.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: They've scored 69 points against 41.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Of course, Corning's coming off a loss to the Bestville Golden Bears 15-12.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: But again, two excellent football teams.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: And Tim, this should be an outstanding battle between the Tigers and Corning coming to town.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and uh Union Indicats hoping that they don't have a reversal of last weekend.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: They uh went down to Elmira, who introduced their new stadium, and UI came away with a win on that.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: So they're hoping they don't repeat that with uh Corning Painted Post coming to visit them.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Our next game is a divisional game.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: It's in class B, has what uh Windsor with a one and two record visiting um the Spartans of Maine Enwell at Spartan Stadium.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: Start, I'm sorry, Spartan Stadium, and Maine Enwell is three and zero, and um, they're looking really strong this year, Roger.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: What can we expect in this uh this game?
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Well, I think uh a big key to the Spartans, an extremely balanced attack.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: They've got an outstanding quarterback.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: This young man may be, if not the best player in section four.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: He's certainly among the top five or six, Anthony Polakier.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: There's not much that I've seen him play in a couple of the games that he can't do in the win against Shenanko Forks last weekend, ran for three touchdowns and threw for another, but his elusiveness running that option makes him extremely difficult to defend against.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: And of course, with that, outstanding speed in the backfield to go along with him in that double wing formation.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: So they're running misdirections, they're running counter options, but he obviously is the key to it.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: He's picked up where Michael Mancini left off at the home last year, and he's a tremendous uh quarterback in the first part of the season.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: So it's gonna be tough for Windsor to control that option offense.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: If they can do it, they're gonna stay tough, but it will be a difficult one.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: And they so far have scored 42 points, giving up 47.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: So far, their offense has been struggling in the first three games.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what you when you have a student athlete uh that's as athletic as he is in the quarterback position, and he has that added dimension of running, that forces the defense to uh have to play zone coverage more.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: So, you know, in zone coverage, you're facing the quarterback where you can kind of look through the receiver through your zone into the quarterback.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: So, what that does is forces your defense to be in more of a cover three, uh cover two, and it affects what you can do with bringing uh strong safety up into the box.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: So that should be an interesting game.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: I know Windsor played really tough their home opener against uh Shenango Forks.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: So that should be a very interesting game.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: Now onto our uh third game is also a divisional game in class C.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: Shenango Forks comes in with a three-and-one record.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: That doesn't sound right when you say three and one record.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: Usually they're there some number with a zero after, but nonetheless, Shenango Forks comes in at three-and-one.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Uh, they travel to the Susquehanna Valley field to take on the also three and zero.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, the three-zero Susquehanna Valley Sabres led by Coach Ford.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's gonna be, I think, an outstanding football game.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: The Forks seldom loses, and certainly they don't almost ever lose two in a row.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: So they're gonna be geared up after that loss at the hands of Maine Engwell last weekend.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Susquehanna Valley, meanwhile, had a barn burner, went to overtime against Newark Valley before prevailing 25 to 22.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Now, SV has outscored their opponents 110 to 52, and the Forks, they don't put up a ton of points on the board, 91, but they've given up 59.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: So it sounds to me like a battle of defenses, and for Susquehanna Valley, obviously looking for a home win before the home crowd.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: All right, that takes us to our fourth game, which is a also a divisional game, and uh pits two undefeated teams against each other, and these are two-storied franchises, Walton and Tyoga, who are both state champions in different years.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: But uh Walton comes in three and zero, and they're gonna visit Jim Hagerty Field and take on Tyoga and uh Coach Ayalo.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: That should be a great game.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Walton, of course, one of the premier programs in our area, and Tyoga certainly needs not much of an introduction.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: They are fabulous as well, riding an overall 17-game winning streak.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: They've been averaging 47 points a game, giving up less than 10.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: So there's no weak spots for Tyoga.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: And of course, Walton coming in 110 points, 432 against unbeaten records, two stellar teams.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Another big weekend showdown, Tim.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's it's gonna be some really good stuff this weekend, Roger.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: And you know, the the divisions and classes are kind of starting to jockey for position, and you're kind of the cream rise to the top now.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: So it should be a good weekend for those.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Thanks again, Roger, for your analysis and we appreciate it.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: And we look forward to this weekend.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: Take care.
