Transcript
- 0:17Speaker 1: Hi, everybody.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I'm one of your hosts, Brian Austin Green, and I'm
- 0:20Speaker 2: really excited for my guest today, who is literally redefining
- 0:25Speaker 2: herself in chapter two. You know her from roles in
- 0:29Speaker 2: movies like the American Pie franchise, Scary Movie. She has
- 0:33Speaker 2: an incredible foundation helping wildlife in South Africa. She just
- 0:38Speaker 2: got divorced this week, not kidding, and we're going to
- 0:42Speaker 2: dive into that and so much more so here she
- 0:46Speaker 2: is Shannon Elizabeth.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I can't believe that we've never met before, right.
- 0:52Speaker 3: I don't think so, but I feel like we should have.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Isn't that bananas? I was like, how is that possible?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Like, I we we met everyone during that time period.
- 1:04Speaker 1: What was what was the timeframe of the American Pie movies?
- 1:09Speaker 1: That was like.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Ninety nine was the first one and all right.
- 1:16Speaker 1: So our show was already sinking at that point. So
- 1:18Speaker 1: that's why that's why.
- 1:19Speaker 2: We never met, because our ratings were going to s
- 1:23Speaker 2: as you guys were just like blowing up.
- 1:27Speaker 1: That explains Yeah, it's.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't, I don't.
- 1:31Speaker 1: It's fine not to put you on the spot or anything.
- 1:35Speaker 2: So yeah, that's usually it's and it's funny too, Like
- 1:39Speaker 2: the business was so much more segregated at that point.
- 1:43Speaker 2: It was like you were either film or you were TV.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And what TV always wanted to do. Film film never
- 1:50Speaker 2: wanted to do TV. Film was like no, no, no,
- 1:53Speaker 2: forget it, Like this is this is the life. I
- 1:57Speaker 2: like being a movie star. TV is beneath me, which
- 2:00Speaker 2: it felt like it was. Now it's all, uh opposite everybody.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Field has evened out and people realize, I think, if
- 2:10Speaker 2: I want to have a family and I like I
- 2:12Speaker 2: want to be around, I need to do a show
- 2:14Speaker 2: that is set kind of in one place compared to
- 2:17Speaker 2: traveling all over the world doing stuff.
- 2:20Speaker 3: And I mean there's not a lot of sitcoms anymore.
- 2:22Speaker 3: But doing the sitcom was amazing, Like there was no
- 2:26Speaker 3: better sense.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah I did. I did a couple.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I did a couple of sitcom things that were like
- 2:36Speaker 2: just game changers. They were so easy. It was so great.
- 2:40Speaker 2: But like being on a lot, having like specific hours
- 2:44Speaker 2: and all that, it was unbelievable.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I mean yeah, especially if you lived close to the lot,
- 2:49Speaker 3: if you live nearby, like.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Just all of it, Like honestly the lot is close
- 2:54Speaker 2: no matter what. Now, like it compared to having to
- 2:56Speaker 2: fly to Canada to shoot everything, or you know, both
- 3:00Speaker 2: Garia or all.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Over the place.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Well, do you know where I am right now?
- 3:05Speaker 1: You're in South Africa right now?
- 3:06Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 3:07Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 3:07Speaker 1: Do you live there? Yeah?
- 3:09Speaker 3: I pretty much look here, Yeah I do.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Do you do you what do you travel back to
- 3:16Speaker 2: the States for at this point? Like just to buy
- 3:19Speaker 2: buy groceries? No, there's a Whole Foods in Texas I
- 3:24Speaker 2: really love.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Well, I love Whole Foods. Yeah, anywhere I travel back
- 3:31Speaker 3: for jobs. I travel back for appearances for my fundraiser
- 3:37Speaker 3: at the end of June, so things like that, you know,
- 3:41Speaker 3: and seeing family and friends. But I mean, there's lots
- 3:44Speaker 3: of reasons to travel back.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Families all here, right. Where are you from originally?
- 3:49Speaker 3: I'm from Texas originally. But the only I mean, I
- 3:55Speaker 3: have lots of aunts and uncles and cousins, and my
- 3:59Speaker 3: cousin and New York is like a sister to me,
- 4:01Speaker 3: so I probably see her most of anyone. So when
- 4:05Speaker 3: I travel back a lot of times, I'll stay with her,
- 4:07Speaker 3: and you know, we're we're always looking for ways to
- 4:10Speaker 3: work together and do things together, because you know, she
- 4:13Speaker 3: doesn't have a sister. I don't have any brothers or sisters.
- 4:16Speaker 3: So it's kind of you're a child.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I am amazing.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I So I have an older brother and an older sister,
- 4:23Speaker 2: but they're from my mom's first marriage, and there's a
- 4:26Speaker 2: nine year age difference between my sister, who I'm the
- 4:29Speaker 2: closest with. So I grew up feeling like an only child. Also,
- 4:34Speaker 2: so I get I understand that, can we? So I
- 4:40Speaker 2: I just in doing research on you, there was so
- 4:43Speaker 2: much about you that I didn't know. So then you
- 4:48Speaker 2: bringing up like, oh, I'm in South Africa right now,
- 4:51Speaker 2: It's like, okay, yeah, let's go there first, Like this
- 4:54Speaker 2: is really interesting. So this show is I don't know
- 4:58Speaker 2: if you've ever listened to it or checked it out.
- 5:01Speaker 1: It's I Do Part two.
- 5:03Speaker 2: And to me, the concept of this show is people
- 5:06Speaker 2: that have lived these full lives and have experienced things
- 5:10Speaker 2: and then kind of go in after the first time
- 5:13Speaker 2: where things have gone a bit sideways, and they and
- 5:15Speaker 2: they start sharing these lessons that they've learned and sharing
- 5:19Speaker 2: who they are and how they've grown. But then we
- 5:21Speaker 2: all were sort of a community, so we grow together. Okay,
- 5:25Speaker 2: only child, raised, born and raised in Texas. How how
- 5:31Speaker 2: many pets did you have?
- 5:32Speaker 1: When you were a kid. One well, just one.
- 5:36Speaker 3: There was a moment where I had a bird as well.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Somebody gave me a bird, but then the bird died.
- 5:42Speaker 3: And my parents had a poodle like a miniature poodle
- 5:46Speaker 3: when I was born, and they would never allow me
- 5:50Speaker 3: to have more animals.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Did you want more animals?
- 5:52Speaker 2: Though?
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah? I would cry and be like, when I grow
- 5:55Speaker 3: up tons of animals around me, I'm gonna have like
- 5:58Speaker 3: a farm of animals, was always my threat to them.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Cut two rhinos and all that.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Well, when I lived in La and I started my charity,
- 6:07Speaker 3: I had seven dogs at any given time. I always
- 6:10Speaker 3: had seven dogs in my house.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Like rescues like fostering, you know.
- 6:15Speaker 3: They became mine, so I did. I would foster and
- 6:20Speaker 3: sometimes animals. It kind of it was weird because it
- 6:24Speaker 3: started out that we would foster these animals and or
- 6:30Speaker 3: we would find an animal and then somebody a friend
- 6:33Speaker 3: would come over and be like, oh that's a cool dog,
- 6:36Speaker 3: and we're like do you want them? You know, And
- 6:39Speaker 3: that's kind of how it started. That's how the rescuing
- 6:42Speaker 3: kind of started. It's like, oh, you like this dog,
- 6:45Speaker 3: do you want a dog? And they would take them
- 6:47Speaker 3: and and it just kind of naturally developed from there
- 6:51Speaker 3: and then you know, they're just became. You just kind
- 6:54Speaker 3: of knew when it was your core animal or a
- 6:57Speaker 3: rescue that was going to move on to another home,
- 7:00Speaker 3: you know, but it was always So I have one
- 7:04Speaker 3: dog sitting next to me right now, in the chair
- 7:06Speaker 3: next to me.
- 7:07Speaker 2: So what's really funny is my fiance she before me,
- 7:12Speaker 2: she owned a house off of beech Wood, just under.
- 7:16Speaker 1: The Hollywood sign, and it was her and her.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Two dogs that she had rescued, and she lived this
- 7:22Speaker 2: very simple life, but she would like foster dogs all
- 7:26Speaker 2: the time and like that was a big part of
- 7:28Speaker 2: everything for her. And then we ended up together. She
- 7:33Speaker 2: now we had a baby together, but I already had
- 7:36Speaker 2: four kids, so all of a sudden she had this
- 7:37Speaker 2: like massive family. And then when she decided she wanted
- 7:41Speaker 2: to foster, it was like, you've got to we already
- 7:44Speaker 2: had three dogs, Like this has to fit into our world,
- 7:48Speaker 2: which is it's difficult because foster dogs sometimes have a
- 7:54Speaker 2: lot of issues from you know, like previous traumas and
- 7:57Speaker 2: things that they've this one here. We have little dogs
- 8:01Speaker 2: and one named Daisy, that is she's I love Daisy,
- 8:09Speaker 2: but she is so complicated, like there's just so much
- 8:12Speaker 2: going on in her head, and she is like constantly
- 8:16Speaker 2: growling and sort of snapping and worried that somebody's gonna
- 8:19Speaker 2: hurt her. So she's got that little dog syndrome. Plus
- 8:22Speaker 2: she's getting old now, so her hearing is going, which
- 8:26Speaker 2: just makes it twice is worse. Like she's running around
- 8:30Speaker 2: the house and she's panicking, thinking she wants to find you,
- 8:32Speaker 2: and you call her name, but she doesn't even hear you,
- 8:35Speaker 2: like she just keeps running in the opposite direction. But
- 8:40Speaker 2: so we fostered dogs that were pregnant and had puppies,
- 8:43Speaker 2: and we ended up having these puppies and we have
- 8:46Speaker 2: a bunch of friends that have them now that adopted.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Them, and we love them.
- 8:51Speaker 2: But it is, it's it is a choice to gold
- 8:57Speaker 2: the route of animal activism. I mean, can we jump
- 9:00Speaker 2: into your I don't want to say personal life because
- 9:04Speaker 2: it's not, but because this show is, I do part two,
- 9:07Speaker 2: Like I want to get into relationships stuff a little
- 9:11Speaker 2: bit because I think people need.
- 9:14Speaker 1: All the help they can get.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I know I did, like I you know, I just
- 9:18Speaker 2: sort of I learned it was trial by fire for me.
- 9:22Speaker 2: So you were you were not you were not married
- 9:27Speaker 2: at the point when you moved to South Africa. That
- 9:30Speaker 2: was you were married before then.
- 9:33Speaker 3: So I was married in early two thousands for a
- 9:38Speaker 3: few so I was with a guy named Joe who
- 9:41Speaker 3: is now my manager.
- 9:43Speaker 2: And yeah, I think I think the people that actually
- 9:45Speaker 2: put this together they spoke to him all, which is fantastic.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I love that you guys have that.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Joe actually was on nine O two one zero for
- 9:53Speaker 3: an episode because he's yeah, you're kidding, he was cut out.
- 10:00Speaker 3: He got cut out because it was a controversial episode
- 10:04Speaker 3: and they yeah, yeah, they were worried about it. But
- 10:10Speaker 3: that was one of his first jobs.
- 10:12Speaker 1: He had said, that's hysterical.
- 10:14Speaker 3: So we were together for ten years. So we were.
- 10:18Speaker 3: We were together for seven before we got married and
- 10:21Speaker 3: then married for three and then then I dated way
- 10:26Speaker 3: too much and then I moved to South Africa. I'm
- 10:29Speaker 3: just kipping over. I moved to South Africa and then
- 10:33Speaker 3: I met someone here and got married and just got
- 10:39Speaker 3: divorced and it got finalized two days ago.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Congratulations is that?
- 10:43Speaker 2: Yes?
- 10:44Speaker 3: Yes, that is absolutely congratulations. And that's the end of
- 10:48Speaker 3: my dating. I'm done, is it? Yeah? I don't see
- 10:53Speaker 3: me dating ever again, not for a very long time
- 10:56Speaker 3: or not on purpose. Yeah, No, I'm absolutely not getting
- 11:00Speaker 3: married again. And I just I don't have I don't
- 11:03Speaker 3: have any desire right now today, Like I don't.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Do you feel like your your pickers broken at all?
- 11:10Speaker 2: Like what do you think? Because it's it's it's hard,
- 11:15Speaker 2: Like I get it. I have again, five kids, three
- 11:19Speaker 2: different mothers, and I went through two relationships one we
- 11:24Speaker 2: were married for almost ten years, very public divorce, and
- 11:30Speaker 2: I remember at one point going thinking, God, I am
- 11:35Speaker 2: like I'm the common denominator with everything that's gone wrong,
- 11:39Speaker 2: Like so I have to accept some sort of responsibility
- 11:43Speaker 2: because I didn't want to be single the rest of
- 11:46Speaker 2: my life and I didn't want to carry into my
- 11:48Speaker 2: next relationship what I had done, what I felt my
- 11:52Speaker 2: part was in the first two relationships that didn't work.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Have you had any of that or are you just
- 11:59Speaker 2: sort of like I just want to focus on what
- 12:01Speaker 2: I'm doing now and I'll get to that later.
- 12:03Speaker 3: What do you mean you have any like working on myself?
- 12:07Speaker 1: Yeah? Like do you is there are do you have? Uh?
- 12:11Speaker 2: Do you feel like you're in a place where you
- 12:12Speaker 2: want to work on yourself to better yourself for the
- 12:15Speaker 2: next relationship, or do you feel like I just want
- 12:18Speaker 2: to work on myself to be the best conservationist I
- 12:21Speaker 2: can be right now, on the best human being on
- 12:23Speaker 2: my own.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I had a lot of working on myself after my
- 12:26Speaker 3: first relationship. After I did all that Deity, I did
- 12:29Speaker 3: a lot of work on myself. So after I went
- 12:31Speaker 3: a little wild and crazy, I did a lot of
- 12:33Speaker 3: work and I definitely did a lot wrong in that relationship,
- 12:39Speaker 3: and it took a lot of responsibility for that. Eventually
- 12:42Speaker 3: that was one hundred percent on me.
- 12:44Speaker 2: This last it was, well, it's two people in a relationship,
- 12:50Speaker 2: so I feel like there are but they each person
- 12:53Speaker 2: triggers each other, and then it triggers the worst in people.
- 12:56Speaker 2: And I'm sure you could have made a ton of
- 12:59Speaker 2: mistakes and done things, but never one hundred percent you,
- 13:03Speaker 2: I don't think, But go ahead.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Sorry, yeah, I mean.
- 13:08Speaker 3: I'm taking responsibility for it though, like he knows. We've
- 13:12Speaker 3: talked about it, and I acknowledge that I did a
- 13:16Speaker 3: lot wrong. I was for whatever reason, I just wasn't.
- 13:22Speaker 3: I wasn't myself, to be honest, like, I just wasn't.
- 13:25Speaker 3: That wasn't me. I wasn't myself that wasn't authentically who
- 13:29Speaker 3: I am. And I think that's why now we are
- 13:33Speaker 3: best friends and we could come back to working together
- 13:37Speaker 3: and loving each other in a different way.
- 13:40Speaker 1: How could you possibly authentically be you? Though?
- 13:43Speaker 2: Like how there's nothing authentic about what it is we
- 13:46Speaker 2: do professionally.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Like there is.
- 13:48Speaker 2: It's a very weird place to be and especially because
- 13:52Speaker 2: you were young, I was like, it's not there is? Well,
- 13:59Speaker 2: what who do you possibly meet or ask questions to
- 14:03Speaker 2: get any sort of like good perspective on it. It's
- 14:07Speaker 2: a very upside down, crazy world to be in. So
- 14:12Speaker 2: I feel like you'd like I not to preach to you,
- 14:15Speaker 2: but like people have to give themselves a little grace
- 14:18Speaker 2: sometimes in growing and figuring something out. And the world
- 14:23Speaker 2: that we're in that we live in professionally is not
- 14:26Speaker 2: a normal, healthy place to be in. You can make
- 14:29Speaker 2: a lot of wrong turns if you allow yourself.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Yeah, no, absolutely, And I think I definitely had those
- 14:38Speaker 3: moments where I just went off the rails, you know.
- 14:41Speaker 3: And I have a lot of regrets from back then,
- 14:46Speaker 3: and I've worked really hard to try to make amends
- 14:49Speaker 3: to things that I did and said and the ways
- 14:52Speaker 3: I acted and I'm not proud of that period of
- 14:54Speaker 3: time at all.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I think.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I mean, like regrets are I regret what are to
- 15:01Speaker 2: me are good if you recognize them as periods of growth,
- 15:08Speaker 2: Like I don't. To me, any of the failures that
- 15:10Speaker 2: I had in my life leading up to now, all
- 15:13Speaker 2: of them created who I am now.
- 15:15Speaker 1: So I wouldn't change any of them.
- 15:18Speaker 2: But I definitely look back and I go, boy, that
- 15:20Speaker 2: wasn't handled well.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I definitely could have been better in this situation. I could.
- 15:25Speaker 2: But I love them now, like I embrace all of
- 15:29Speaker 2: them because they all have Look at you, look at you,
- 15:32Speaker 2: look at the life that you're that you're living, and
- 15:35Speaker 2: look at what you're doing. And the better the betterment
- 15:39Speaker 2: that you that you are providing to the world. But
- 15:44Speaker 2: it's all of those all of those crazy missteps, it's
- 15:48Speaker 2: you know, it's you from American Pie.
- 15:51Speaker 1: It's like all of the stuff.
- 15:52Speaker 2: That you went through leading to who you are now,
- 15:55Speaker 2: which is which is really amazing.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Well thank you for that, I mean, and that's very sweet.
- 16:00Speaker 3: But I do have the regrets, and I would change things,
- 16:04Speaker 3: and I think I would still be I would still
- 16:08Speaker 3: be where I was supposed to be now, whether it
- 16:11Speaker 3: would just I would have gotten here in a different path.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I would have taken a different road, a different yellow
- 16:16Speaker 3: brick road. I would have gone a different direction, but
- 16:19Speaker 3: it would still have led to the same place. I
- 16:21Speaker 3: think I think it had to, you know, I feel
- 16:24Speaker 3: like I was supposed to be here no matter what.
- 16:38Speaker 1: What was the biggest lesson you think that you learned
- 16:40Speaker 1: through throughout?
- 16:41Speaker 2: Like if you could looking back on the twenty five
- 16:45Speaker 2: year old Shannon, like, what would you what advice would
- 16:48Speaker 2: you give her now.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Compared to the way you were living then.
- 16:54Speaker 3: I don't know, to be honest, as far as like
- 16:57Speaker 3: the relationship side of it goes, you know, I think
- 17:02Speaker 3: there was a part of me that always thought I
- 17:05Speaker 3: was missing out on something, that the grass was always greener,
- 17:08Speaker 3: that there was always something else out there I was
- 17:10Speaker 3: supposed to be doing and it's just not the case.
- 17:15Speaker 3: And I don't really know how to answer that, to
- 17:20Speaker 3: be honest, I think I just I went through a
- 17:23Speaker 3: very dark period. I think like attracts like and when
- 17:28Speaker 3: I started going through a bad time, I was attracting
- 17:32Speaker 3: a lot of bad things. And likewise, if you're in
- 17:34Speaker 3: a good place, you attract good things. And that's why
- 17:37Speaker 3: it's so important to try to always be energetically in
- 17:41Speaker 3: such a good place. So it's you know when people say, oh,
- 17:45Speaker 3: one thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong, Well, yeah, because
- 17:49Speaker 3: you're attracting other things and that low vibration.
- 17:51Speaker 2: That's exactly right, especially if you're putting that energy out,
- 17:54Speaker 2: Like if you believe in manifesting at all, which I do,
- 17:57Speaker 2: is like, if you're putting out nothing but negative energy,
- 18:00Speaker 2: that's what you're going to attract, Like you attract exactly.
- 18:04Speaker 2: That is what you to me, that's what you have
- 18:07Speaker 2: control over. Like that is the control in your life.
- 18:10Speaker 2: All the rest of it is bananas all the time,
- 18:13Speaker 2: and it will be your entire your entire go at it.
- 18:17Speaker 2: The only thing that we have control over are these
- 18:20Speaker 2: choices that we make in how we deal with them,
- 18:23Speaker 2: who we are, how people experience us, and whether we
- 18:30Speaker 2: see the silver lining and everything or we just sort
- 18:33Speaker 2: of fade into the tough situations.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I think there's a lesson in everything. I
- 18:41Speaker 3: do believe everything happens for a reason. It doesn't mean
- 18:43Speaker 3: that I don't wish I could go back and change
- 18:46Speaker 3: some of the things that I went through and that
- 18:48Speaker 3: I've done. There are definitely pivotal moments that change things
- 18:53Speaker 3: in my life and in my career that I would
- 18:56Speaker 3: love to know had I gone a different way, what
- 18:58Speaker 3: things would be like, you know, And one day I
- 19:02Speaker 3: probably will put it all in a book. Yeah, you know,
- 19:06Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of things that I feel
- 19:09Speaker 3: like more and more I can, I'm getting closer to
- 19:13Speaker 3: being able to talk about them. It's tough because you know,
- 19:17Speaker 3: we're in an industry. When you start talking about things,
- 19:19Speaker 3: it does involve other people in the industry, And what
- 19:23Speaker 3: are you allowed to say? What do you want to say?
- 19:25Speaker 3: What are you who are you protecting?
- 19:27Speaker 2: Like?
- 19:27Speaker 3: And at some point you just want to let it
- 19:30Speaker 3: all out and release that.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Sure.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, transparency is tough, for sure. It's really hard.
- 19:37Speaker 2: To know what to get into and not like I am.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I'm in a place now where I definitely share more
- 19:45Speaker 2: than I ever did. But at the same time, you're right, like,
- 19:48Speaker 2: there's a part of me that is like, hmmm, is
- 19:51Speaker 2: that going too far? Am I implicating somebody that's not
- 19:54Speaker 2: ready to get into it?
- 19:55Speaker 1: On their side?
- 19:56Speaker 2: Like, you know, it's you do you do edit yourself
- 20:00Speaker 2: and the things you talk about a little bit, which sucks.
- 20:03Speaker 2: It's it's not a great feeling because then you're not
- 20:05Speaker 2: getting everything out.
- 20:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean there's definitely things people asked me about
- 20:11Speaker 3: that I have to lie. We've got to be like, oh,
- 20:13Speaker 3: I don't.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Get everything out in a book, Like I can't.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Writing a book terrifies me because it's like, oh, man,
- 20:20Speaker 2: do I really want to? Like because those words on
- 20:23Speaker 2: page those are truly forever. Like I can change my
- 20:27Speaker 2: mind in interviews and go in different directions, and people
- 20:30Speaker 2: sort of see the evolution of me compared to like
- 20:33Speaker 2: how many books am I going to write? You know,
- 20:36Speaker 2: like I may I may write two, and at that
- 20:40Speaker 2: point it's like you've only seen two iterations of me
- 20:42Speaker 2: on paper. I'm much more of like I'll just choose
- 20:46Speaker 2: to do interviews and talk about things.
- 20:49Speaker 3: See. But with the interviews sometimes I mean for me,
- 20:53Speaker 3: I say the wrong thing and then I like stress
- 20:55Speaker 3: about it till it comes out. I'm like, oh, maybe
- 20:57Speaker 3: I shouldn't have said that, Oh why did I say that? Like,
- 21:00Speaker 3: and there's nothing I can do. I've lost control at book.
- 21:03Speaker 3: At least I can go back and I can edit it.
- 21:05Speaker 3: I can have a lawyer look at it and like, Okay,
- 21:07Speaker 3: get it to the boy where I'm like, I've sat
- 21:09Speaker 3: with it for two years before I decide.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Interviews, though, you can take you can take your time
- 21:14Speaker 2: when you're speaking to people, Like most most of the
- 21:17Speaker 2: interviews that we do aren't live, so it's like, take
- 21:21Speaker 2: your time. If you have to think about a question
- 21:24Speaker 2: for five minutes, you think about it for five minutes.
- 21:27Speaker 1: You know.
- 21:27Speaker 2: If somebody needs to cut it out for time, then
- 21:29Speaker 2: they do. If it's a print interview, it doesn't can
- 21:33Speaker 2: matter anyway. They're just literally going from answer to answer
- 21:35Speaker 2: to answer. But yeah, it's a very uh, it's a
- 21:40Speaker 2: weird it's a weird kind of fish bowl thing that
- 21:43Speaker 2: we I mean, especially now for you, Like all of
- 21:46Speaker 2: the attention that you're getting with only fans is it's
- 21:51Speaker 2: mind blowing, Like were you expecting at.
- 21:53Speaker 1: All to have the attention that you're that you're getting.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Not No at all.
- 21:58Speaker 3: No, I have no idea, no idea.
- 22:11Speaker 1: So I'm engaged.
- 22:12Speaker 2: So I don't have any only fans subscriptions. I did, yeah,
- 22:18Speaker 2: So like I can't even say, oh, well, so I've
- 22:21Speaker 2: watched your content and so here's how it differs from
- 22:24Speaker 2: other things that you would imagine. But from what I've
- 22:26Speaker 2: read you're very specific of like, no, this is a
- 22:29Speaker 2: piece of my life that people don't.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Normally normally get. Do you feel like that has.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Been therapeutic in some way because people get to see
- 22:38Speaker 2: like an authentic part of you where you don't feel
- 22:41Speaker 2: quite as worried about what you put out or do
- 22:45Speaker 2: you feel like you're.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Much more.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Much more controlled and you're much more careful now of
- 22:53Speaker 2: what it is you say.
- 22:53Speaker 4: And it's it's starting to allow me to drop my
- 23:01Speaker 4: my walls a little bit, you know, whereas everything was
- 23:05Speaker 4: always had to be so perfectly done and so perfectly
- 23:08Speaker 4: manicured and so perfectly put together.
- 23:11Speaker 3: And the more I do this, the more I'm like,
- 23:13Speaker 3: h it doesn't matter. I can do this with no makeup.
- 23:15Speaker 3: I can do this without like wry as I go
- 23:18Speaker 3: to bed, as I wake up in the morning, like
- 23:20Speaker 3: I'm getting used to being able to share and not
- 23:24Speaker 3: care as much. I still care, but it's allowing me
- 23:29Speaker 3: to get more comfortable with myself in a weird way,
- 23:33Speaker 3: like it's.
- 23:33Speaker 1: It's happening me.
- 23:35Speaker 2: It makes sense, Like, yeah, be authentic. Is it's crazy?
- 23:39Speaker 2: It's counterintuitive. You would assume that people would not connect
- 23:45Speaker 2: with you the same way if you're not perfect all
- 23:48Speaker 2: the time when you're on camera and you're not saying
- 23:50Speaker 2: all the right things. But the reality is people connect
- 23:54Speaker 2: more with you when you are human and you are
- 23:57Speaker 2: absolutely yourself in all moments, whether they're flawed or not.
- 24:01Speaker 2: People really love authentic people because then they feel like, oh, Okay,
- 24:08Speaker 2: they're normal people just like I am. So it's sort
- 24:12Speaker 2: of it levels the playing field a little bit. It
- 24:15Speaker 2: seems like the more. When I got to a point
- 24:17Speaker 2: where I was like, Okay, I'm a little more willing
- 24:19Speaker 2: to share and just kind of be open and honest,
- 24:21Speaker 2: people responded really well to it. I was like, oh man,
- 24:24Speaker 2: this is addicting. It feels good to not worry so much.
- 24:29Speaker 2: It makes life way simpler. Yeah, I've put so much
- 24:34Speaker 2: stress on my life and I've made life so much
- 24:37Speaker 2: more complicated than it ever had to be.
- 24:40Speaker 1: But it's the same way though with dating.
- 24:42Speaker 2: For me, it's when I got to the point where
- 24:44Speaker 2: I was dating again, I was like, God, I'm going
- 24:46Speaker 2: to stop putting on the mask of like what I
- 24:50Speaker 2: assume people would love and all of that, and that
- 24:53Speaker 2: whole honeymoon period. I'm going to not have any of
- 24:56Speaker 2: that I'm just going to be me from the get go,
- 25:00Speaker 2: and if you don't like me, I don't want to
- 25:01Speaker 2: waste my time doing this and being in something new.
- 25:05Speaker 2: I've got so much other going on, Like you know,
- 25:09Speaker 2: you have rhinos to save.
- 25:11Speaker 1: I have kids to raise like I don't have.
- 25:15Speaker 2: We have way bigger lives than then, you know, dating
- 25:18Speaker 2: or being in a relationship with somebody. I want to
- 25:20Speaker 2: find somebody that matches the life that I'm already living,
- 25:25Speaker 2: that I can then have as.
- 25:26Speaker 1: A teammate through it all. Yeah, you do you feel
- 25:29Speaker 1: like you.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Do? You feel like you want that again eventually, or
- 25:35Speaker 2: like you're fine without it right now and you're really
- 25:37Speaker 2: set in who you are and what you're doing.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I'm absolutely fine without it. I don't feel like I
- 25:43Speaker 3: need it. I feel more myself, more alive, more free.
- 25:49Speaker 3: I don't feel like I'm missing anything. In fact, I
- 25:53Speaker 3: feel just the opposite. And having this freedom now to
- 25:58Speaker 3: I mean hanging out with my girlfriends, it's just for me.
- 26:03Speaker 3: I mean, it's just as fulfilling as hanging out with
- 26:06Speaker 3: a partner.
- 26:07Speaker 2: It's not more so because you're finding yourself and you're
- 26:10Speaker 2: not putting any other pressure of like how how am
- 26:13Speaker 2: I being perceived by the other person that I'm with
- 26:15Speaker 2: right now? And yeah, it's it's a it's a completely
- 26:18Speaker 2: different situation. And I think it's important for people to
- 26:23Speaker 2: to like really cherish that time when they are single
- 26:27Speaker 2: and alone, to really find themselves and.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Find again who you love being.
- 26:32Speaker 2: So then when you go into the next relationship, which
- 26:35Speaker 2: for me was totally unplanned. I wasn't dating, I wasn't
- 26:38Speaker 2: actively searching for somebody.
- 26:41Speaker 1: It just worked out that way.
- 26:42Speaker 2: I ended up meeting someone that I had so much
- 26:45Speaker 2: in common with. Naturally it was like, oh, I can
- 26:49Speaker 2: let's hang out, Like let's see you know why, Like
- 26:52Speaker 2: we should just absolutely be friends, and then it went
- 26:55Speaker 2: from friends to just we we have an amazing relationship.
- 26:58Speaker 2: But it's I think it's important to do that. I
- 27:03Speaker 2: think people that don't spend time with themselves and with
- 27:07Speaker 2: their friends, they really miss out on that finding of
- 27:12Speaker 2: who they truly are with their friends and by themselves
- 27:17Speaker 2: and waking up in the morning and doing your own things.
- 27:22Speaker 2: I think I think they're they're they're short changing themselves,
- 27:26Speaker 2: and then they go into a new relationship putting too
- 27:30Speaker 2: much on this other partner. You depend on the other
- 27:34Speaker 2: person too much compared to like you figured out how
- 27:37Speaker 2: to do it yourself. I don't really need you to
- 27:39Speaker 2: do any of this stuff, but let's just do it together.
- 27:42Speaker 2: It's let's just share all of these things.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I I don't see me going into
- 27:50Speaker 3: another relationship ever, so I'm not you know, I'm I've
- 27:57Speaker 3: got my charity, my charity work then I'm doing. I've
- 28:01Speaker 3: got my friends, I've got acting, I've got not only
- 28:04Speaker 3: fans and all like connecting with all of my fans
- 28:06Speaker 3: that way. My life is full. I don't even have
- 28:10Speaker 3: time or room for a partner. I don't want one.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I'm so happy the way things are right now. I've
- 28:17Speaker 3: got my my cousin who's like a sister to me,
- 28:20Speaker 3: and we're looking to do things together like They's just
- 28:24Speaker 3: I don't have time for a partner. It means I
- 28:28Speaker 3: would neglect doing the things that I'm loving doing right now.
- 28:31Speaker 3: So yeah, I'm good.
- 28:32Speaker 2: You're also just two days out of divorce, so I'm sure.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I'm sure there's.
- 28:38Speaker 2: A part of you too, And that's like, like I'm.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Free of this, thank goodness.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a whole different feeling shitting in your home,
- 28:47Speaker 2: but it's amazing. I mean that is a that's I
- 28:52Speaker 2: envy that for sure, and I think that's a great
- 28:54Speaker 2: place to be in.
- 28:55Speaker 3: You can't end me that because you're engaged.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Well, but never say never say never to a relationship,
- 29:03Speaker 2: but I do.
- 29:04Speaker 1: I do envy that feeling. Luckily.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I am engaged, and it's we're in a
- 29:08Speaker 2: place now where we are we're able to really sort
- 29:14Speaker 2: of find ourselves still, but we're just partners in doing it,
- 29:19Speaker 2: so I don't I'm not alone now in this search
- 29:22Speaker 2: for life and the things I want to do and
- 29:24Speaker 2: the things I want to accomplish and and lives I
- 29:28Speaker 2: want to change in a positive way. She's very much
- 29:30Speaker 2: aligned with me that way. So we're just really realizing
- 29:35Speaker 2: now that it's like, oh power and numbers, we can
- 29:37Speaker 2: do so much more together than we could do separated.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Well, that's amazing you found that, congratulations because that's not
- 29:46Speaker 3: easy to find. And I'm sure you're easy together in
- 29:49Speaker 3: past lives if you're like disconnected now, so you've been
- 29:53Speaker 3: together lifetime after life.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I for sure for sure feel that way. It's
- 29:59Speaker 2: funny you we were talking about before that all of
- 30:03Speaker 2: a sudden there when when my marriage ended. I and
- 30:09Speaker 2: I wasn't really dating, but I was just sort of
- 30:11Speaker 2: living life and I was raising my kids and all that.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Australian women started coming in my life in random ways,
- 30:18Speaker 2: and I was like, I've never once been friends with
- 30:21Speaker 2: an Australian. Like, I've never dated an Australian woman. This
- 30:24Speaker 2: doesn't make any sense to me. And then at the
- 30:27Speaker 2: point when my business manager was like, oh, I've got
- 30:30Speaker 2: a client that I think you should meet. You guys
- 30:32Speaker 2: just remind me a lot of each other when I'm
- 30:34Speaker 2: with either one of you.
- 30:36Speaker 1: And I met her and she was Australian, I was like, what.
- 30:38Speaker 2: The fuck is Like, why what is it about Australia
- 30:42Speaker 2: about Okay, this is like I'm gonna trust the universe
- 30:45Speaker 2: wants this for me. Now, this is a new space
- 30:48Speaker 2: I'm supposed to be in. Yeah, like all all you know,
- 30:51Speaker 2: hands down, cool, let's go, let's do this.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:56Speaker 2: And it's been such an amazing relationship because it's opened
- 31:02Speaker 2: my eyes to a different way of viewing the world
- 31:06Speaker 2: and a different way of really honoring people that are
- 31:09Speaker 2: around me. We have just an unbelievable relationship. I Sharna
- 31:15Speaker 2: is her name, and I love her more than I've
- 31:18Speaker 2: ever loved anybody in that life.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Aside from my kids. Yeah, Dancing with the Stars.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I know who that is. That's amazing. Oh
- 31:26Speaker 3: I don't remember if she was on when I was on.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Oh way, you did the show?
- 31:31Speaker 3: Yeah, season six, so it was a long time ago,
- 31:33Speaker 3: so I don't think she was on yet, but I
- 31:35Speaker 3: know of her because of the show. Yeah.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Yeah, So we have been We've been together for almost
- 31:40Speaker 2: five years now. It's unbelievable. We met during COVID. We
- 31:46Speaker 2: had a business manager in common who suggested we meet
- 31:50Speaker 2: each other. And this person is not like, she is
- 31:54Speaker 2: not somebody that normally sets people up, like that's not
- 31:56Speaker 2: her mo, you wouldn't meet her and go ooh matchmaker
- 31:59Speaker 2: this one. You know, she's like great at her job
- 32:02Speaker 2: and what she does with money in it, so she's
- 32:06Speaker 2: very We very much were like, oh, she's great with that.
- 32:09Speaker 2: So when she suggested it, it was like, oh, that's interesting, Okay, sure.
- 32:14Speaker 2: So we ended up meeting for coffee and we had
- 32:16Speaker 2: this amazing six hour conversation. But we talked about our strengths,
- 32:23Speaker 2: our weaknesses, all of it. Like it was very unfiltered
- 32:27Speaker 2: because she'd been single for five years.
- 32:29Speaker 1: At that point, I had come out of my marriage.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I was like, I never.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Again want to make the same mistakes. So I had
- 32:35Speaker 2: been heavy into therapy and sort of working on myself
- 32:37Speaker 2: and very much connected with un the common denominator in
- 32:41Speaker 2: things that have gone wrong. I want to fix that,
- 32:45Speaker 2: if not for a relationship, just for myself. So we
- 32:49Speaker 2: were very aligned morally and we had this amazing conversation.
- 32:53Speaker 2: We never had a honeymoon period where we started seeing
- 32:59Speaker 2: each other in the ways of like, oh my god,
- 33:01Speaker 2: you don't handle stress very well, or you like, you know,
- 33:04Speaker 2: you can only maintain the facade for so long before
- 33:09Speaker 2: you get into real life, and it's like, oh man,
- 33:11Speaker 2: this is it's it's it's impossible to sustain this, this
- 33:16Speaker 2: fantasy that I've painted for someone else.
- 33:19Speaker 1: So we never had that. So we had this amazing relationship.
- 33:22Speaker 2: But you have to be in the place where you
- 33:27Speaker 2: honestly just don't give a ship at that like I
- 33:30Speaker 2: didn't care whether in meeting her there was a love
- 33:34Speaker 2: connection or not. It wasn't like a blind date for me.
- 33:37Speaker 2: It was I didn't have my fingers crossed and I
- 33:39Speaker 2: was hoping that something would come out of it. I
- 33:42Speaker 2: was just like, oh, this is yeah, let's sit down
- 33:44Speaker 2: and have coffee and meet and hang out. And then
- 33:49Speaker 2: we left that situation. I was like, oh, that was
- 33:52Speaker 2: really amazing. I've never I've never dated someone where it
- 33:56Speaker 2: was a six hour conversation over literally nothing sexual, Like
- 34:00Speaker 2: that was the last thing on my mind. I just
- 34:02Speaker 2: wanted to sit down and do it again. I was like,
- 34:04Speaker 2: this is a great connection. This is a really cool
- 34:06Speaker 2: thing to have. We had like four more of those
- 34:09Speaker 2: before we were even like even kissed or like. It
- 34:13Speaker 2: was just it was a really cool, cool connection. And
- 34:17Speaker 2: I'm okay, I'm not going to put pressure on you,
- 34:20Speaker 2: but I think if you continue on the path that
- 34:23Speaker 2: you're on, that'll be the next thing for you, because
- 34:27Speaker 2: it seems like you're you're on that path now.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I sure.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Again, I say, am I'm not looking for it. I'm
- 34:36Speaker 3: not going to look for it. I feel very full
- 34:40Speaker 3: without it. If it's meant to be, then we'll see.
- 34:45Speaker 3: But at this point in time, no interest.
- 34:48Speaker 1: That's the place to be. Okay.
- 34:50Speaker 2: So Shannon, I could uh just talk your ear off
- 34:54Speaker 2: and I have this conversation all day, but I think
- 34:58Speaker 2: what we should do is we sh to make a
- 35:00Speaker 2: Part two out of this, so people come back and
- 35:02Speaker 2: they they listen to more of this because we have
- 35:04Speaker 2: so much more to get into it.
