- 0:00Time now for back to the Basics and healthcare with Balanced Life Chiropractic, and
- 0:03we have doctor Harley joining us. Hey you know doctor Harley. Hey John,
- 0:06I am doing fantastic. Another beautiful day. Yeah, we just got
- 0:11through Father's Day weekend. A lot of folks probably out doing all kinds of
- 0:14fun stuff for that. So do you get some folks that come in that
- 0:17maybe overdid it a little bit, trying to still be a kid, Yeah,
- 0:21definitely. Or it's like current patients are like, oh, yeah,
- 0:25my back hurts today, and I'm like, oh, what'd you do?
- 0:26They're like, oh, I might overdone it over the weekend. Yeah,
- 0:30typically be of the mail yeah side. We make bad choices all the time,
- 0:35Right, It's just one of the things we do. If we didn't
- 0:37make bad choices, we wouldn't make choices. Your wiveses have nothing to talk
- 0:41about. Yeah, So what are some of the common things that we maybe
- 0:45overdo and maybe do a little too much exertion on ourselves this time of year?
- 0:50The typical complaint I get from you know, men, dads, you
- 0:54know, athletes, students, you know what men usually are complaining of low
- 0:59back pain? Oh yeah, a pretty common one. I can see that,
- 1:02and that's probably something that's common because just about everything I do, it
- 1:06seems like that I use, I use my lower back even when I'm just
- 1:07like sitting down doing nothing, because you get sore backs from not using it,
- 1:11you get sore backs from using it, you get sore backs from right
- 1:15right. And it seems like men tend to carry their stress in their low
- 1:19back or women tend to carry it more in their neck in their shoulders,
- 1:22so women tend to have a little more neck shoulder pain. And yeah,
- 1:25men are typically more low back, and they're usually the ones that are more
- 1:27likely to have, you know, back surgeries or arthritis and they're lower back.
- 1:33You know, that's pretty common as well. So what are some things
- 1:37that the average person can do to try to avoid those big problems? Because
- 1:41we don't want to go down that path, but I suppose chiropractic care would
- 1:45be something you could do to kind of help get away from that, right
- 1:47as I say, chiropractic care, of course, yeah, yeah, chiropractic
- 1:49we're going to help make sure things are moving like they should. You know,
- 1:53we have thirty three segments in our spine and there's five big lumbar vertebrae
- 1:57in our low back. Yeah, those guys are carrying the brunt of all
- 2:01our upper body weight, you know, all our twisting movement, especially down
- 2:05into our hips walking. That's putting a lot of compressive load on those joints.
- 2:09So those are going to be the guys that are most likely to start
- 2:13to deteriorate and become arthritic as we get older because they're putting their going through
- 2:17so much stress and strain. So is there I suppose ideally this would be
- 2:24something you do lifelong, so from the time you're a little kid, But
- 2:28is there a time that maybe it's still Is it ever too late to start
- 2:31adding chiropractic here? Probably? And ever too late? Isn't. No,
- 2:34it's never too late. I mean, it's definitely easier in the early stages
- 2:38of when you know, dis disease or degenerator anything like that is happening.
- 2:44You know, it's much easier to take care problems early on, like as
- 2:46kids, teenagers, because the body's still very you know, to help out
- 2:50white things. Yeah, right, prevention is much much easier than trying to
- 2:53fix problems after the fact. But even someone that is ninety nine years old
- 2:58and they're you know, retire, they're living in a nursing home, even
- 3:00they can still benefit from chiropractic care because we're gonna help those areas to move
- 3:06better. I look at arthritis kind of like a rusty gait. You know,
- 3:08if you don't use that gait, the rust is going to just get
- 3:12worse and worse and worse and worse and worse. Right, But the more
- 3:15you're using it and oiling it and trying to maintain it, it's gonna last
- 3:19much much longer. You're gonna have less rust build up. And even if
- 3:22they already is rust there, Yeah, we can keep it from getting worse.
- 3:25And by using it, I suppose that makes the stuff that's they're a
- 3:29little bit better anyway. It helps break it down. And so if I've
- 3:31got some soreness in my lower back because i haven't been seeing a chiropractor,
- 3:36by coming in and getting adjusted and getting things back where they're supposed to be,
- 3:38that probably helps. That's going to take a lot of the stress off
- 3:42of that. The muscles are going to calm down, because if your spine's
- 3:45not moving, your muscles have to work harder and work more. They get
- 3:49more tired, they're gonna be tight sharp age, making it more likely to
- 3:53strain something or pull something. So when everything is moving like it should,
- 3:58there's less stress and strain on the entire system. Nice. So that's kind
- 4:00of what chiropractic does in a nutshell, is making sure that your body is
- 4:04moving and those areas that are stuck, adjusting them, getting them back to
- 4:09moving, taking the tension stress off the rest of it. If somebody listening
- 4:13is going, hey, this all sounds really good and boy I could certainly
- 4:15use some help, how do they get ahold of here at Balanced Life Chiropractic.
