- 0:01Hello, Welcome to He's Hop and Something's Off with Me.
- 0:03Just Joey TI just spent 10 minutes in front of the Mirror
- 0:11to get ready for the video version of this podcast.
- 0:14If you're not watching, you're really missing out Volleyball on
- 0:16my YouTube channel, Just Joey T and also on Spotify.
- 0:20Because I remember the first time I did the podcast and I was
- 0:26on camera and everything and my friend messaged me after I came
- 0:31out, he watched the video version.
- 0:32It's like your face is real shiny in that and I've got a
- 0:35ring light that I set up for lighting and rain lights are
- 0:40great. Yeah, I'm sure you've seen a
- 0:42lots of influencers, people on social media that use some sort
- 0:47of ring light. I mean it's pretty apparent the
- 0:49effect and they look great. But if you have kind of more
- 0:52orally skin, the ring light kind of makes you look really shiny,
- 0:56but the light is just blasted straight at your face.
- 0:58So every time before I go on camera, now I have to go to the
- 1:02bathroom, look in the mirror and then get a tissue paper and then
- 1:06block all the oil off of my face.
- 1:09I was supposed to go to the dermatologist tomorrow or today
- 1:14on Thursday, the day that this comes out.
- 1:18But I had to cancel that because I had to book an appointment
- 1:25with my proctologist, which is like your rear exit doctor,
- 1:34which I see him kind of sort of semi regularly.
- 1:39When I first saw him, I was seeing him like every month to
- 1:44basically get my hemorrhoids taken care of.
- 1:49And this is not, we're not 12. We can talk about these things
- 1:54on the podcast and as a gay man who is a bottom, having
- 2:00hemorrhoids is an issue. I mean just having hemorrhoids
- 2:03just general is could be a problem.
- 2:07I think the stats is something like 40 or 60%, whatever it is
- 2:12of people. At some point the lives will
- 2:14have issues with hemorrhoids and you know it's nothing to be like
- 2:18a shame of. It's just the anatomy of like
- 2:21the human body. And yeah, I I've got not a
- 2:28situation. I've got, I've got something.
- 2:34I just have to go to the proctologist basically to for
- 2:38like a follow up, you know. And you know, I like to yeah, at
- 2:43the bottom you just got to make sure everything is a OK back
- 2:49there and it's not even just for sex, right.
- 2:51It's just for irregular functions of your body, so I
- 2:56can't say that's TMI. Great way to start off the
- 3:00podcast is some TMI information. But I feel like a lot of things
- 3:04that people or when you're growing up as like a kid and
- 3:09that you think like, oh, these are things you can't talk about.
- 3:12This is like, it's too gross. There's too TMI, too disgusting.
- 3:16I feel like, especially when it comes to medical or health
- 3:20issues, I feel like it's better to actually normalize it like
- 3:25hemorrhoids. Again, it's like a normal thing
- 3:28that a lot of people get. And instead of being ashamed of
- 3:31it and not bringing it to your doctor or like a medical
- 3:35professional, I feel like, you know, it's not something you
- 3:40want to talk about over lunch. But you know, it's something
- 3:45where, hey, if you feel like you might have an issue back there,
- 3:49you know, it's you shouldn't feel like society is putting
- 3:53pressure on you to not do anything about it because it's
- 3:58like not something to be talked about with anyone.
- 4:00You know, same it kind of sort of the thing we have of like
- 4:04mental health right nowadays. More recently, it's been more OK
- 4:09and kind of even encouraged in society right now in general to
- 4:14talk about mental health, right? We have, you know, a lot more
- 4:17awareness about it. Whereas, you know that wasn't
- 4:19the case like 10 or 20 or 30 years ago.
- 4:21And you know, it's not like something bad.
- 4:24It is just something that's part of your health, part of your
- 4:27Wellness. So that's the way I view my
- 4:30hemorrhoids. So I don't have a problem
- 4:32talking about it to kick out this week's podcast episode of
- 4:37the podcast, but let's switch it up a little bit.
- 4:41We can talk about something else.
- 4:42I've been in my hemorrhoids. I just got back from Market
- 4:45Days, which is Chicago. Chicago, I think have a proper
- 4:50pride celebration that is not market days, but I effectively,
- 4:57and quite a few other people effectively treat market days in
- 4:59Chicago as Chicago Pride. So it was last weekend.
- 5:03I was kind of on the fence about going, but I went there anyways.
- 5:07I had a pretty good time. I'm actually very glad that I
- 5:10went and that's not always the case.
- 5:11When I am kind of sort of on the fence a little bit about a trip
- 5:15and my kind of sort of self guidance about being on the
- 5:20fence about things is like just say yes because I'm the
- 5:23personality. That's very.
- 5:27I will just take the lazy easy route.
- 5:29And I don't formal that much sometimes, but not all the time.
- 5:33So usually my head is just telling me, oh, just stay home,
- 5:38it's fine. So that's why I kind of adopted
- 5:41this guidance, more rationalized guidance of you know what, we're
- 5:45on the fence about doing something social, just go do it.
- 5:48Because I know myself, and I'm such a introvert, that I do
- 5:53really need to push myself sometimes to go do social things
- 5:59and be out and about and, you know, be with other people.
- 6:02So market Bays went. It was really fun.
- 6:05I'm really glad I went, which isn't always the case when I'm
- 6:08on the fence. I pushed myself to go and I just
- 6:12got back. I stayed at the Aloft Hotel in a
- 6:16Meg Mile, which is kind of so like the downtown Ish area and
- 6:19all the hotels are there. And I swapped rooms.
- 6:23So I was in this one room and when I checked in at the front
- 6:28counter, I can tell it was like this guy who's most likely gay.
- 6:33Gaydar was like 8090% and I don't know if that was why.
- 6:39And I was running like a sleepless tank and my muscles
- 6:43are showing maybe. So I got a really pretty nice
- 6:47room. I just booked a standard room,
- 6:49but I got like a pretty decent room.
- 6:51I don't really have much status with the chain.
- 6:55And it was like a decent size room.
- 6:58It had like a view out into the city.
- 7:00And he mentioned that when I checked in, I was like, oh,
- 7:02that's really, really nice. It was on the 17th floor.
- 7:05They only have 18 floors of room, so it was high up and the
- 7:07bathroom was like, had that large shower.
- 7:10It was like an accessible room or something like that.
- 7:12So it's actually really, really nice.
- 7:15The only thing was there are a couple of things that didn't
- 7:17work in the hotel room. The blinds, they have electric
- 7:20motorized shades for the windows and there's like these huge
- 7:23panes of windows that go from the floor to like the ceiling
- 7:26and overlooks out into the city. I didn't care about people
- 7:30looking in because I'm so high up on the 17th floor, but you
- 7:33know when it's nighttime I need blackout shade so I can get to
- 7:37sleep. So the electric motor shades
- 7:42that it didn't work like it worked in itsy bit when I first
- 7:45got there and then like when I tried it the second time it just
- 7:49completely crapped out and I was gonna go to the phone and
- 7:53basically bring up their front desk to tell them hey is there a
- 7:56way to reset it? The phone in the room also
- 7:58doesn't work, it just was not even it was plugged in but it
- 8:02wasn't getting any power. None of the buttons on it
- 8:04worked. So I was like, you know what?
- 8:08Whatever is not like a huge problem.
- 8:10I've got a eye shade that I keep in my luggage all the time.
- 8:14So I just put those on and I went this bed.
- 8:16It wasn't really a problem. Checked in on Wednesday night.
- 8:20And then Thursday night I noticed that I guess someone
- 8:26else had checked in in a room nearby.
- 8:29Because I was. I remember it was Thursday
- 8:30night. It was at midnight and there was
- 8:33like a lot of like door opening and closing.
- 8:36And when the doors closed in a hotel room, it's kind of like a
- 8:40semi slam just because the doors are so heavy and they've got the
- 8:44mechanisms or whatever on it. So it's like, I mean it was
- 8:47like, I guess someone checked into the room nearby, they were
- 8:51open and closing that door like 20 times and I was still up and
- 8:55I wasn't about to go to bed, house, like, whatever.
- 8:57But then the next morning after I had woken up, I noticed that
- 9:02like there was music coming from like nearby.
- 9:06So basically the room next to mine was like a corner room and
- 9:10it was like a suite and like a bunch of people had checked in
- 9:13there and then they were just loud.
- 9:16So the one thing I don't tolerate anywhere where I'm like
- 9:22sleeping, doesn't matter if it's my own house or if it's in a
- 9:27hotel room and I'm traveling like an Airbnb.
- 9:29I don't tolerate noise because where I'm living in that moment,
- 9:35it has to be like a quiet space. I don't host parties at my house
- 9:41like, I don't host like after hours or anything like that.
- 9:43Because where I live at that moment need to be quiet and it
- 9:47needs to be not a party place. These people checked in to party
- 9:51and I was like, OK, this is not going to work.
- 9:53But so I know what will happen is that when I'm during the
- 9:58weekend, I'm going to come home at like 6:00 AM, I'm going to
- 10:01sleep until like 2:00 PM And I can't have people like playing
- 10:04loud music next door when I'm sleeping in because I'm just
- 10:07going to like wake up. So basically I went down to the
- 10:11front desk and that just to like, OK, my flyings don't work,
- 10:15the phone in there doesn't work. And these loud people just moved
- 10:17in next door. And I don't want to be living at
- 10:20a party. Can you move my room?
- 10:21So they basically swap me to like a different room.
- 10:23The guy didn't, you know, give me any grief or whatever about
- 10:27it, but like, yeah, so I went to like a second room wasn't as
- 10:31nice, but like, I just didn't care.
- 10:33It was like nice and quiet and that's all I cared.
- 10:35So yeah, I had to swap rooms. But that was a, you know, I I
- 10:40don't, I don't have a problem with those people that check in
- 10:43this week. They were like super, super
- 10:45loud. But I just know that I'm extra
- 10:47sensitive to noise and walls are not always as thick and
- 10:53insulating as you would like, especially in a hotel.
- 10:57Yeah. And and I knew that they had
- 10:58checked in. I just knew that I checked in on
- 11:01the weekend, you know, just like party that weekend.
- 11:04And it's like it's great that you want to party here.
- 11:06I'm here to party too, but not like in the rooms.
- 11:09Like they it was like 10:00 or 11:00 AM and they were like
- 11:12playing EDM. And I love EDM, but they were
- 11:15playing EDM music in their suite.
- 11:16It's like, shouldn't you go out and do things instead of just
- 11:20like hanging out in your room playing music if you're visiting
- 11:23the city, right. Anyways, the parties themselves
- 11:27that I went to, I was supposed to OK, we can spill the tea.
- 11:31I was going to go to a circuit party on Friday night and I was
- 11:39getting ready to actually go to the party.
- 11:44Hair, makeup, douche, everything.
- 11:47Just the standard routine I do to go out right?
- 11:51Not the douching part, but it's a party we can anyways getting
- 11:54ready and then got some messages on my phone on Grinder and then
- 12:05at the last minute I was all ready to go to.
- 12:07I was like literally like ready to like grab my wallet, grab the
- 12:11keys and like go to the train station to go to.
- 12:16Actually, there wasn't a train station, but the vending for
- 12:18Friday night was actually like a 15 minute walk from the hotel.
- 12:22So it's really convenient, but I got some messages on Grinder and
- 12:27then I decided to go to Steamworks instead.
- 12:30Last episode I talked about how, you know, there's a Steamworks,
- 12:33which is like a gay bath house right in the middle of Boys Town
- 12:36in Chicago. So it was like a really spur of
- 12:41the moment thing. It was just like, OK, let's just
- 12:43go to Steamworks and like, maybe skip the party.
- 12:46So I end up doing that took the train up the Boys Town and when
- 12:50I got to Steamworks the IT was 12/12/30 when I got there like
- 12:571230 and and the lineup was long and I haven't been to Steamers
- 13:02in a while I knew there was like a VIP and just like the regular
- 13:06but when I first got there I didn't know what was what so
- 13:10just thought like oh like everyone must be in line to just
- 13:13get in. So I just got in this line and
- 13:19after being in a line for, I don't know, maybe like half hour
- 13:21or something. And I don't, I don't do queuing.
- 13:25I don't like lineups. I feel like lining up for
- 13:27something, It's like the biggest waste of time.
- 13:29I would rather be at the dentist for 30 minutes than stand in the
- 13:32lineup for 30 minutes. I'd rather do my taxes for 30
- 13:35minutes, just stand in the lineup for 30 minutes.
- 13:37Like standing in the lineup. It's like the the most wasteful
- 13:40thing to me. But I was like in a good mood.
- 13:44I wasn't like, you know, angry or anything, still not line up
- 13:48for like 30 minutes. And then I found out as I've got
- 13:50closer to the front and they had like staff, you know, giving
- 13:53information to like the people in the line up that, oh, if you
- 13:56want to do the VIP, there's no line up for that.
- 13:59You have to pay for the VIP, obviously, which is more
- 14:02expensive. But I didn't know how expensive
- 14:04it was. I was on the Steamworks website
- 14:07before I flew up to Chicago and they're selling the VIP thing
- 14:12online for like 55 bucks. And then I was like and standing
- 14:15in line up and the guys like, oh, the VIP's no line up.
- 14:18You guys want to go to the VIP and just go to the other door.
- 14:22And I was like all these boys, like the lineup was at least
- 14:26like 100 people. Like definitely at least 100
- 14:29people. I'm thinking it.
- 14:32The VIP was $55. I feel like that's a price where
- 14:35like not that many people would just stand the line up to save.
- 14:39Like, I don't know, 30 bucks. I don't know what the regular
- 14:43membership is. It must be at least like 20
- 14:45bucks, right? First, it's 55 to save like 30
- 14:48bucks or something like that. Not that many people must be so
- 14:53penny pinchers to save $30.00 to just wait in the line for like
- 14:57potentially an hour, hour and a half.
- 14:59So at that point, I just like went up to the VIPI thought
- 15:03like, well, OK, they sold it for $55 last week online.
- 15:07Maybe it's like 70 or $80.00 to do it in person.
- 15:11And I was at that mentality were like, you know what, I don't
- 15:15have a day job right now, but I'm just going to throw money at
- 15:16it. So yeah, just, I just like, OK,
- 15:21let's throw money at it because I can't wait in this line
- 15:24forever. And I skipped the party to come
- 15:26here. So I just left the long line,
- 15:29went to the VIP door. There wasn't any lineup.
- 15:33And when I throw my credit card at something, doesn't matter if
- 15:38it's like groceries or like buying gas for the car or like
- 15:43this VIP thing at Steam works, I usually never ask how much
- 15:47something is. It's just like, oh, I'm paying.
- 15:48Here's a credit card. That's kind of sort of like the
- 15:52way I use credit card. I use my credit card for
- 15:53everything. I don't do coins and cash and
- 15:55all that stuff. Usually it's like Apple Pay or a
- 15:57credit card. That's what you're getting.
- 15:59And basically it was $180. I'm almost ashamed.
- 16:05I'm almost like, don't want to say this out loud, but it was.
- 16:08I looked at my credit card charge afterwards.
- 16:11It was like it was $180 to buy the VIP and get a locker for
- 16:16that Friday night. And I was like, wow, if I just
- 16:20if I would just have paid the $55 to buy it online before I
- 16:26flew to Chicago. The locker I think is like 30
- 16:29bucks or something like that, because I went back to the next
- 16:35night and it was $30 anyways. So it's like $180 was the charge
- 16:39of my credit card. I was like, at first I was like,
- 16:43oh shit, that's a lot of money. But then it was also like, you
- 16:48know what, You've already paid that money.
- 16:49So it's not like there was no sense in getting mad or being
- 16:53super outraged about it. But I did have fun at SN Works.
- 16:58I will put it that way. And I was glad that I went on
- 17:02the Friday and I was also glad that I went on the Saturday.
- 17:05So on Saturday I went to the Circuit Mom circuit party.
- 17:11And then afterwards I was like, oh, I, you know, I, you know,
- 17:16got a little energy and it's like, oh, let's go to
- 17:19Steamworks. I had, I paid for the FM VIP
- 17:21already. So I went back the next night
- 17:24and I was also glad that I went back the next night.
- 17:27So Market days was basically a success coming back home from
- 17:36the Steam Works. So this would be Sunday morning
- 17:38now. And when I left Steam Works, it
- 17:41was already, it was about to be sunrise.
- 17:45It was already past dawn. So the sky was brightening up,
- 17:48but the sun wasn't quite out yet.
- 17:51And in previous years, I would have taken like an Uber or Lyft,
- 17:56like everywhere. But because I'm trying to save
- 17:58money without the day job, I've been taking the train, which is
- 18:01that perfectly nice. It's, you know, fine.
- 18:04So I walked to the train station and I was at the platform and I
- 18:08was just running like this, like, tank top.
- 18:10And then there's this twink that, yeah, this is twink that
- 18:15was like, oh, like. Like kind of, sort of floating,
- 18:19trying to float, I guess It's like, oh oh like, oh, you look
- 18:22good or you're handsome or whatever or something like that.
- 18:25I was pretty tired, so I wasn't really into, like, conversation.
- 18:29I'm not usually into conversation with strangers
- 18:31anyways. I.
- 18:34So there's that fine line between, like, trying to
- 18:39indicate that you don't want to, to talk to a stranger in a
- 18:43public place, like when you're waiting for a bus or a train or
- 18:45waiting for whatever versus like just being rude.
- 18:51And I was, like too tired to, like, give that much effort.
- 18:55Like I wasn't in a bad mood, so I wasn't going to be like be
- 18:58rude to him. But like, I just didn't have
- 19:01enough mental energy. Or, yeah, I just didn't have
- 19:06enough mental energy to, like, tow that line where like, I'm
- 19:09giving clear indications that I don't want to talk versus like
- 19:13just being rude to him. I was like on my phone and like,
- 19:17that's not the social cue. Like if you are trying to like
- 19:19stir up conversation with someone and they are not asking
- 19:23you questions back and you're asking all the questions and
- 19:26their answers are like surely be like, Yep or like one or two
- 19:29were answers and they're not really making eye contact.
- 19:32Like they're on their phone. That means they don't want to
- 19:34talk to you. And that was what I was doing.
- 19:38But like this kid just like kept talking and talking and
- 19:41unfortunately like he was with like his friend, unfortunately
- 19:45their hotel stop was also where I was going to get off.
- 19:49So like they like he sat next to me on the train.
- 19:53He's like oh should we go sit over there And like he kept
- 19:55talking and talking, talking and I like kind of sort of like semi
- 20:00carry conversation with him because like I was just too
- 20:03tired to like talk. I'm not like that usually.
- 20:06I'm not again I lose. You talk to strangers.
- 20:07And I was like, I was kind of tired, but like, he seemed like
- 20:10nice and I was like, well. I kind of have to be on this
- 20:13train with you now. He subscribed to my YouTube
- 20:16channel because he was asking, like, what I do and all that
- 20:18kind of stuff. So like, maybe he'll see this,
- 20:21but this, this is my podcast. I'll talk about whatever hell I
- 20:24want. But yeah, it was like, yeah,
- 20:26there, there was this, there was this guy that talked to me and
- 20:29then yeah, that was, it was interesting to to have that.
- 20:37I didn't bring my earbuds with me because when I went to New
- 20:40York Pride, I mentioned this in the previous episode.
- 20:43I brought my earbuds with me for the commit to and from the
- 20:48party, and I lost the earbuds at the party.
- 20:51This is just, I fell out of my pocket in my bag.
- 20:53So I was determined not to lose my air pods, my or my earbuds
- 20:58this time. So I was like, I did think about
- 21:00it when I left the hotel was like, oh, it's going to, I'm
- 21:02going to be on the train and stuff.
- 21:04Maybe I should. It's kind of, it was kind of a
- 21:06long train ride to the party on Saturday night.
- 21:08It was like 45 or 50 minutes on the train.
- 21:12I was like, oh, you should bring your earbuds.
- 21:13I was like, no, I can't afford to lose another pair of earbuds.
- 21:17So they're staying in the hotel. So I didn't bring them.
- 21:20But if I did have them, I would have warned them wearing
- 21:23earbuds, it's like very, very clear sign that other people
- 21:28shouldn't talk to you. Right.
- 21:30And I didn't have that, you know, So me, like, not asking
- 21:33questions back, giving short answers and being on my phone
- 21:36apparently wasn't enough. So that's that.
- 21:41Yeah. But otherwise, market days was
- 21:42good, the weather was good, the music was good.
- 21:44I didn't go to as many parties in the previous years on Sunday.
- 21:49Oh, actually, you know what happened?
- 21:51So I was supposed to fly back on Monday.
- 21:55My flight was from Monday, and I ended up moving my flight to
- 22:02Sunday, Sunday evening, Sunday evening, because I was kind of
- 22:09sort of like, you know what? I kind of sort of had enough of
- 22:14a party and I kind of just want to get home.
- 22:16So I was able to move up my flight like a shorter flight.
- 22:20It's like a late flight on Monday.
- 22:22I did party a little bit on Sunday that the street fair.
- 22:25And so it's always really, really fun.
- 22:26But I was like, you know what? I think I've had enough
- 22:28partying, you know, I wasn't going to party like super duper
- 22:31hard for market days anyways. I did have a lot of fun.
- 22:34Thank you. Steamworks.
- 22:35Yeah. So I actually moved on my flight
- 22:37and yeah, I actually got back Sunday night, Monday early
- 22:40morning. Yeah.
- 22:41So there you go, That was market days.
- 22:45Let's switch it up a little bit here.
- 22:48I want to talk about the TV shows that I watch because one
- 22:53of my, again, I don't watch a lot of TV.
- 22:57The number of shows I have watched and that I do watch is
- 23:03shockingly small amount of shows When I was younger out of TV in
- 23:07my room, I don't know why my parents allowed me to have my
- 23:11own TV when I was 12 at, you know, eight.
- 23:14It was eight. Yeah.
- 23:17Moved to this house when I was 8 years old and they allow me to
- 23:20have like cable TV in my room. Like, anyways, it's too young to
- 23:27have a TV. Anyways, I bring this up because
- 23:31Bart Stopper season 2 is out and when I watched the first season,
- 23:37whenever that came out, I was like, Oh my God, this is my
- 23:39favorite show. This is so good.
- 23:43So season 2 just came out. I haven't watched it yet,
- 23:47actually downloaded it onto my iPad before I flew to Chicago
- 23:53because I was like, oh, I can watch this on the plane.
- 23:57And when I got on a plane, I was like, you know what?
- 23:59I think I need to watch this maybe in private on my big
- 24:04screen TV at home. Like, not when I'm like
- 24:07surrounded by, like, other people.
- 24:09Because what if something, like, really emotional happens in one
- 24:13of the episodes? And like that's when like the
- 24:16flight attendant asked if you want like Peanuts or pretzels or
- 24:20something. And I'm like about to like SOB
- 24:22and like tears are like rolling down my face.
- 24:25One time I was flying back after a big party weekend.
- 24:31White Party must be White Party Bangkok or maybe Songkran.
- 24:34So it was in Bangkok, I was flying back and it was the trans
- 24:42Pacific, like the ocean portion of the fight and I was like in
- 24:45the economy and it was going to be like a 10 or 12 hour flight.
- 24:48And for some reason after a party weekend and the emotional
- 24:54state that you might be in, some of you might be able to
- 24:58understand what that is, I decided to watch The Notebook
- 25:05and I didn't really know. Like it was such a sad story
- 25:10before I watched it. I didn't really know what the
- 25:13movie before, but it's like a strolling for movies to watch
- 25:16just the kill time. It's like 12 hours in the
- 25:18economy. You have to distract yourself.
- 25:20Either you knock yourself out with like sleeping pills or you
- 25:24have to keep yourself entertained like it's 12 hours
- 25:27in kind of do something. So I was like watching on the
- 25:31little screen on the seat in front of you The Notebook.
- 25:35When I was in this highly, highly emotional state after a
- 25:39big long party weekend, I was like crying, sobbing for like
- 25:44the whole second-half of the movie.
- 25:47I think. So thank God.
- 25:49When they have these long, like trans Pacific transatlantic
- 25:54flights, they always dim the lights.
- 25:57So the order of operations for these long haul flights is that
- 26:01that you take off, they serve you a meal, they turn down all
- 26:05the lights and that maybe it's a really long fighter depending
- 26:10what airline you're on. They might do like a snack
- 26:12service in the middle, but they don't turn lights fully on for
- 26:16that. They don't turn the lights back
- 26:17on until they do the second meal service, which is like, you
- 26:21know, two hours or hour and a half before landing.
- 26:25They do a meal after takeoff and before you land in between they
- 26:28just shut off all the lights so that people that want to sleep
- 26:30can sleep. So at least thank God it was all
- 26:33dark and I was able to, like, cry silently while being super
- 26:38emotional and watching The Notebook for the first time.
- 26:41Yeah. So anyways, I was like, OK, this
- 26:44can't be a repeat of the Notebook situation.
- 26:46I wasn't in emotional state. I was like, oh, I'm about to go
- 26:49to market days. Yeah, it's fun.
- 26:51But I know that the first season I didn't cry watching the first
- 26:57season. But I know, like, I'm sure
- 26:58second season they it's going to be like, so much more emotional
- 27:01than the first one. I just had that feelings.
- 27:04I was like, you know what? I shouldn't be watching,
- 27:06shouldn't try to watch the second season on the plane.
- 27:09So I ended up watching something else that I had on my iPad on my
- 27:12tablet instead. But I will probably watch it
- 27:18like this week or next week actually, So I have some
- 27:23studying to do. So maybe I won't watch it or let
- 27:26myself watch it until after I've done my studying.
- 27:29And the studying that I have to do is I'm going to take the test
- 27:33for American citizenship. So I'm Canadian, I've got a
- 27:38Canadian passport, but I just applied recently to also be an
- 27:44American citizen, so to be do citizenship basically.
- 27:48And part of the process is that you have a ticket test and it's
- 27:52out of a pool of 100 questions. And on the government's website,
- 27:58there's a PDF that is the 100 questions and what the answers
- 28:02are. So at worst, all you need to do
- 28:05is memorize it. The thing is, it's not multiple
- 28:07choice. When you go to the appointment
- 28:09to take the test, an officer will ask you, I think they asked
- 28:14you three or five or six of the from the pool of 100 questions.
- 28:20They ask you a small amount and you have to give the verbal
- 28:22answer. So you have to like have that
- 28:24instant recall. It's not like a like a paper
- 28:27test that you take and you know, that I guess acts like the
- 28:30stress of it. But yeah, so that test is next
- 28:34week. I have to take it sometime next
- 28:36week. I have to drive to this office.
- 28:38I think it's downtown drive there, do the thing, take this
- 28:42test. It's going to, I'm going to be
- 28:43asked like 5 questions. It'll be over in like a minute
- 28:47or two minutes. But like, I'm going to have to
- 28:48spend X number of days studying for it.
- 28:51I haven't studied for anything in since university really.
- 28:56So I am interested in like American history, for example.
- 29:02I'm interested actually watched a bunch of documentaries on
- 29:06YouTube on like the First World War and the Second World War.
- 29:09But The thing is like the there's so much intricate
- 29:14details about just even any one war.
- 29:17There's so many intricate details and one of the questions
- 29:20is like, oh who did who did the Americans fight in World War 2?
- 29:26I know that's an easy answer, but for someone who never like
- 29:31went to school in the US and therefore never learned like the
- 29:33American specific history in Canada, I think they barely
- 29:37covered the reward. And to be honest the subject I
- 29:41dislike and cared the least above was social studies all
- 29:45through high school. It was literally like what's the
- 29:48minimum I can do to like just pass this course right?
- 29:51I I gave no shits about it. So I retain like 0 knowledge
- 29:55from any of the history or social studies information that
- 29:59I was ever taught in any schooling in my life whatsoever.
- 30:03I didn't have any interest in like wars and stuff until like
- 30:08very recently in like the last couple years.
- 30:10We're like now it when I'm you know like an adult, like a
- 30:14proper adult. Now I'm actually having
- 30:15interest. Some of the stuff that they
- 30:17force feed you in school, not math, but like stuff like you
- 30:21know history. So yeah, I'm going to start
- 30:24studying for that pretty soon and I'm plan is to basically
- 30:27cram for three or four days straight.
- 30:31We'll see how well the cramming works and then yeah, I'll take
- 30:37the test and then hopefully I pass.
- 30:39So we'll see how that works out. It's a little nerve rack.
- 30:43And that is gonna be like, I guess you're face to face with
- 30:46an officer and they're just going to like shoot at you these
- 30:48like 5 or 6 questions and you're kind of expected to just have
- 30:52this like instant recall. Just know what the answers are.
- 30:54But like lots of other people do it.
- 30:56I'm a pretty smart person, but my memory is shit.
- 31:00So we'll see if I can actually cram as it just like raw,
- 31:05memorize the answers for these like 100 questions.
- 31:09Or if I actually have to like study, study and like actually
- 31:12like understand like, oh, This is why we fought these people in
- 31:16the war. And this is like when things
- 31:18happen and stuff like that. Like if I can make sense of the
- 31:23answers in my head, not just like memorize the answers, it
- 31:26will sink in a lot better. But I think the easier way is
- 31:30just to like cram and just try to memorize it just long enough
- 31:33until I take the test. So I'll have an update for you
- 31:36guys next week or the week after to see if I pass the tests are
- 31:42not but until next time. Again, the video version of this
- 31:46podcast is on my YouTube channel, just Joey T and
- 31:49Spotify. So check it out.
- 31:51It's always interesting to see what I'm wearing on the video
- 31:56podcast and how shiny my face is.
- 31:58So there you go. Until next time, bye.
