- 0:05Speaker 1: Hey, y'all, I'm to make a d. Mallory and I'm
- 0:08Speaker 1: so in the general and welcome to street Politicians, the
- 0:12Speaker 1: place where the streets and politics meet, and we're talking
- 0:15Speaker 1: about critical issues that matter in our communities from the
- 0:18Speaker 1: streets all the way to the sweets. So my today
- 0:24Speaker 1: because you know, I think all the time. You know,
- 0:28Speaker 1: I just I've been watching on social media, even some
- 0:30Speaker 1: of my great friends that have banging bodies, they take
- 0:35Speaker 1: certain types of pictures, certain types of profiles. And I
- 0:39Speaker 1: guess my question is, in order to blow up, I
- 0:43Speaker 1: have two questions today. I got two thoughts. In order
- 0:46Speaker 1: to blow up and and become successful and get the
- 0:50Speaker 1: type of attention and build your platform, do you have
- 0:54Speaker 1: to take a picture with your butt turned towards the
- 0:58Speaker 1: camera showing your back side? Like you know, I never
- 1:01Speaker 1: really take pictures like that, but perhaps I'm not doing
- 1:05Speaker 1: it right. And then I guess the second part of
- 1:08Speaker 1: that question is because I'm not hating on those who do,
- 1:10Speaker 1: because like I said, these are people who these are
- 1:12Speaker 1: people who they got it to turn around and show you.
- 1:16Speaker 1: So it's all good, but is that what sells and
- 1:21Speaker 1: what gets you a man like? Is that what men
- 1:23Speaker 1: want to see the as shot um. To be quite frankly, yes,
- 1:28Speaker 1: men want to see it right. And it depends on
- 1:31Speaker 1: what it is that you're trying to accomplish. This is
- 1:35Speaker 1: just from a man's point of view. You know, if
- 1:38Speaker 1: you're trying to sell your sexuality, then people who want
- 1:43Speaker 1: to buy sexuality are gonna buy it, you know. And
- 1:48Speaker 1: if you're trying to find a man who's into that,
- 1:53Speaker 1: you know, then that's the type of man you're gonna attract. Now,
- 1:56Speaker 1: is this person going to be somebody that you can
- 1:59Speaker 1: have a long standard relationship who knows you know, you
- 2:02Speaker 1: don't know you. You have to understand who you are
- 2:04Speaker 1: as an individual, you know. And and that's why if
- 2:07Speaker 1: you if you feel your sexual and you want somebody
- 2:09Speaker 1: who likes you because you've got a fat backside, or
- 2:12Speaker 1: because you're just this sexy person who doesn't care about
- 2:15Speaker 1: the intellect you have, who doesn't want to get to
- 2:17Speaker 1: know you, who you know, who doesn't really care about anything,
- 2:20Speaker 1: and they just attracted to this physical being that you present,
- 2:24Speaker 1: then cool, that's what it is. Because there's some people
- 2:26Speaker 1: that that's all they want. They trying to have a
- 2:28Speaker 1: good time. They want somebody that looks at them for
- 2:30Speaker 1: a good time. Men look at you as a good
- 2:32Speaker 1: time when you when you were physically shown yourself, they
- 2:36Speaker 1: look at you. The first thing they view you as
- 2:38Speaker 1: is a sexual image somebody that they see sexually, you know,
- 2:44Speaker 1: So that can mature into something else. A lot of
- 2:47Speaker 1: times it really doesn't, because that's what you portrayed. So
- 2:51Speaker 1: that's how they see you, and that's the level of
- 2:53Speaker 1: engagement you're gonna get. Because I see even some of
- 2:56Speaker 1: my friends who have businesses, right and they sell products
- 3:01Speaker 1: or their styling, or they're designing, or they're you know whatever.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Sometimes when I look at their social media, I'm not
- 3:08Speaker 1: sure exactly what we're selling. I don't know if we're
- 3:11Speaker 1: selling the outfit, if we're selling you, if we're selling tail,
- 3:15Speaker 1: if we're selling you know, expression. I'm not always sure,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and so I'm just like, maybe I'm looking at it
- 3:24Speaker 1: wrong and maybe I'm being a too sensitive or whatever,
- 3:27Speaker 1: and instead I should actually be doing it myself. I'm
- 3:31Speaker 1: saying once again, once again, you have to figure out
- 3:36Speaker 1: what you're trying to sell. Sex is one of the
- 3:38Speaker 1: biggest thing in the world. Like that's why I w
- 3:40Speaker 1: when people say what like you said the number one
- 3:43Speaker 1: seller or time. So the bottom line is, if you're
- 3:47Speaker 1: using a marketing strategy. I tell people all the time,
- 3:50Speaker 1: it's a marketing strategy. You know what I'm saying, because
- 3:53Speaker 1: sex is a marketing strategy. Like people who are pleasing
- 3:58Speaker 1: to the eye, who advertise certain things, who make people
- 4:02Speaker 1: engage and pay attention, are able to sell something, you know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: So it's it's definitely a market of strategy. The way
- 4:08Speaker 1: that you look, the way that you present yourself is
- 4:10Speaker 1: a market of strategy. But you have to figure out
- 4:12Speaker 1: who is your target market. That's what you have to understand.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I think a lot of times people don't even understand
- 4:18Speaker 1: their own target market. So if you if you're doing
- 4:21Speaker 1: something more conservative spaces, but yet you're trying to target
- 4:26Speaker 1: a market that's not conservative and you're trying to sell sex,
- 4:29Speaker 1: then it gives a mixed message, you know. That's why
- 4:31Speaker 1: everybody don't do the same thing. That's why when you
- 4:34Speaker 1: watch Whop and you see Megan and Cardi doing that,
- 4:37Speaker 1: it's not gonna work for everybody, you know, because it doesn't.
- 4:41Speaker 1: You can't sell Everybody can't sell the same thing. So
- 4:44Speaker 1: I don't think it's anything wrong with women being sexy.
- 4:48Speaker 1: You know, it's enjoying the sexualities individuals that I'm talking about.
- 4:53Speaker 1: They are like I mean, and I'm using this word
- 4:58Speaker 1: um stallions right, like you know, but clearly I'm not
- 5:01Speaker 1: talking about Meg, although Meg is a bad and that's
- 5:05Speaker 1: and that's the thing for me, right when you watch
- 5:08Speaker 1: Meg right and you see the level of either love
- 5:13Speaker 1: or hate that she gets right now, and it's it's
- 5:16Speaker 1: either or right because what she represents either people love
- 5:21Speaker 1: it so much or they're angry because they feel that
- 5:25Speaker 1: it is a message that does a courside with them
- 5:28Speaker 1: is negative. It's telling young girls this. It's not it's
- 5:31Speaker 1: who she is. It's who she's representing who she is
- 5:34Speaker 1: to the fullest of her you know, ability is and
- 5:38Speaker 1: that's what she's She's selling so many things ated she
- 5:45Speaker 1: is passionate about issues. You know, I've had numerous conversations
- 5:51Speaker 1: either with Meg directly or her team about things that
- 5:54Speaker 1: she cares about, ways that she applies her resources and
- 5:58Speaker 1: education to try to help causes. You know, she's in school,
- 6:02Speaker 1: and it's almost like people really hate that. It's like
- 6:06Speaker 1: not everybody, of course, but there is an element of
- 6:10Speaker 1: folk in society that are angry that she's like all
- 6:14Speaker 1: of these different diverse things and and we no hate
- 6:17Speaker 1: because we see it. It just happened to me recently.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I said something in the TMZ interview, and you know,
- 6:24Speaker 1: and I know what I'm talking about. I know it's
- 6:25Speaker 1: in proper context for the issue that I'm dealing with
- 6:29Speaker 1: in that moment, and people just you know, they're making
- 6:32Speaker 1: their whole career off of trying to post about it
- 6:36Speaker 1: and talk about it and get their clicks and shares.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And in the past, I would go out and go
- 6:42Speaker 1: arguing with them and going online and you know, be
- 6:45Speaker 1: sitting there all day long, typing back and forth like
- 6:49Speaker 1: the frog when you see the frog going in. That's
- 6:53Speaker 1: what I generally would do. But I have grown past that.
- 6:56Speaker 1: My thing is, if you're trying to get your clicks
- 6:58Speaker 1: and shares off of me, you go ahead and do that.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Because most people who heard my statement, and you know,
- 7:05Speaker 1: you can go find it yourself. And we don't have
- 7:07Speaker 1: to get into that today. Um, but you know, most
- 7:10Speaker 1: people who heard it, they know exactly what I was
- 7:12Speaker 1: talking about, you know, And and you know, anyway, that's
- 7:16Speaker 1: a topic for a different day. And so you know,
- 7:19Speaker 1: with with even with Cardi, and you know how much
- 7:21Speaker 1: I love Cardi again, another person that I talked to
- 7:25Speaker 1: and and have have really come to learn love and
- 7:28Speaker 1: understand who she is as a person outside of music.
- 7:33Speaker 1: And you you see the hate that she receives as well,
- 7:36Speaker 1: and it's deep, deep, It's a deep hate because people
- 7:40Speaker 1: are afraid of your own confidence. They're afraid to see
- 7:44Speaker 1: confidence in somebody else that they don't have. For this
- 7:46Speaker 1: stiff when you can say and do something and be
- 7:49Speaker 1: unapologetic and be like, this is who I am and
- 7:52Speaker 1: I don't care if everybody else is doing it or not.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I'm so comfortable and like Cardi shows up as her
- 7:58Speaker 1: full self every time, no matter no matter what. She's
- 8:00Speaker 1: gonna being rollers in the house. She's gonna have no
- 8:03Speaker 1: makeup on, she's gonna have a baby, she's gonna talk
- 8:06Speaker 1: broken English. She's gonna talk about political issues. She's gonna
- 8:09Speaker 1: tell you how she feels, she might curse about it.
- 8:12Speaker 1: She's gonna talk about her why she gonna do whatever
- 8:17Speaker 1: she wants to do. She's a great entertainer and a
- 8:20Speaker 1: great story of personality. Her person she has a personality.
- 8:24Speaker 1: That's why she got there. Because she's from my hood.
- 8:27Speaker 1: You understand I'm saying, write down the block from my mother.
- 8:31Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying exactly. So when I used
- 8:33Speaker 1: to see her on Instagram, she had a million followers
- 8:36Speaker 1: before she did anything. She was just because people paid attention.
- 8:40Speaker 1: She was somebody who captivated you, who you gravitate, whether
- 8:44Speaker 1: she was having a fight on the street, whether she
- 8:46Speaker 1: was talking about yo, y'all, y'all, y'all, b I TC,
- 8:49Speaker 1: y'all know, it's what it is, is popping and she
- 8:51Speaker 1: coming from the strip, whatever it is. People paid attention,
- 8:54Speaker 1: and you know, and she has a personality because it's authentic.
- 8:58Speaker 1: You know. That's what That's what that and that's what
- 8:59Speaker 1: we always been attracted to. I don't care. You don't
- 9:02Speaker 1: got to be politically correct. You don't have to be
- 9:04Speaker 1: the best person, the smartest person, nothing, long as you
- 9:07Speaker 1: are authentic, you know what I'm saying. I will always
- 9:10Speaker 1: respect you if Cardy is authentic to the fullest man.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And that's why we receive hate because at the end
- 9:17Speaker 1: of the day, we don't care what you think about us.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I don't care what you think about I've never cared.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I don't think I care what you think. I just did.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I hate to be lied on. I hate for you
- 9:28Speaker 1: to state something like see, I'll still argue on my
- 9:30Speaker 1: page because you're not gonna go on my page and
- 9:32Speaker 1: state something that's wrong. That's not too much. It's too
- 9:36Speaker 1: much for you to lie on me. You can't lie
- 9:38Speaker 1: on me and try to discredit the sts be talking about. Yeah,
- 9:42Speaker 1: because I'm still listening. I'm too, I'm still parallel. You
- 9:45Speaker 1: understand saying even though I'm removed from the street life,
- 9:47Speaker 1: I'm not removed from the streets. And that's where most
- 9:50Speaker 1: of the people that I'm trying to save. They're not
- 9:54Speaker 1: from the street. They're not You don't even see them.
- 9:58Speaker 1: They don't even gotta profile pick. So I'll talk about
- 10:02Speaker 1: the ones who actually lead the attacks. But anyway, I
- 10:06Speaker 1: hope they get them some extra followers. My name brings
- 10:10Speaker 1: them a little more. I know, people who I've pretty
- 10:12Speaker 1: much barked their whole career, they got whole YouTube pages
- 10:16Speaker 1: built off talking about me. So I'm gonna, well, hey,
- 10:20Speaker 1: that's I guess that's a good thing. It's an excellent thing.
- 10:23Speaker 1: The streets is talking. The streets are always talking. Streets
- 10:27Speaker 1: talking too damn much that people going to jail. But
- 10:32Speaker 1: you know, we we gotta have some debate about that
- 10:36Speaker 1: because this whole I keep saying, I get the concept
- 10:40Speaker 1: of the nostic sitching piece. I totally get it, but
- 10:44Speaker 1: I'm not sure these kids get it from the right perspective.
- 10:47Speaker 1: And I think it's kind of dangerous. But we can't
- 10:50Speaker 1: today is not to but we need to have a deep, deep, deep, deep,
- 10:55Speaker 1: deep conversation. It's really just common sense. But what's this
- 11:00Speaker 1: Streets talking about? The streets are talking about the Grammars.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Streets was definitely talking about them talking about the same
- 11:10Speaker 1: we know already. But even though you know something right,
- 11:15Speaker 1: every time that you faced with it and you actually
- 11:18Speaker 1: see it, it just I think for individuals it gets hard,
- 11:22Speaker 1: especially as an artist. Right as an artist, when you
- 11:24Speaker 1: know you put your heart into something, you know the
- 11:27Speaker 1: people have embraced it, you know, it's been celebrated by
- 11:30Speaker 1: the people that you actually make music for, and then
- 11:33Speaker 1: you have an institution that doesn't respect that, you know,
- 11:37Speaker 1: because they don't respect our culture, don't respect us in general,
- 11:40Speaker 1: you know, and to constantly see that it doesn't it
- 11:42Speaker 1: doesn't feel any better. Every time you know, you you say, whatever,
- 11:46Speaker 1: I don't care about the girls, But you know, it's
- 11:48Speaker 1: a prestigious it's a very important you know, it's a
- 11:50Speaker 1: it's important awards, especially for artists when you create worldwide
- 11:55Speaker 1: and universal music. So when you don't get recognized, you know,
- 11:58Speaker 1: and you don't win awards, especially from our culture, it
- 12:01Speaker 1: feels a way, you know, So even if you don't
- 12:03Speaker 1: expect it, you're like them. I know, I deserve it
- 12:06Speaker 1: and we can't. And the thing is it doesn't lose
- 12:10Speaker 1: any credibility even though we say we notice in that
- 12:14Speaker 1: we have not done the proper way, we have not
- 12:17Speaker 1: done the proper you know, going taking the proper steps
- 12:21Speaker 1: to make that Grammy lose the credibility and put something
- 12:24Speaker 1: in place of it that represents us properly. Well, I
- 12:27Speaker 1: know they've they've made some internal changes, um and you know,
- 12:31Speaker 1: I know my sister Felicia, our sister Felicia Butterfield Jones
- 12:34Speaker 1: is they're doing diversity work, So I know there's change
- 12:37Speaker 1: is happening, but you're talking about an old institution and
- 12:40Speaker 1: it's gonna take some time for them to actually align
- 12:44Speaker 1: with First of all, there's probably people fighting against it,
- 12:47Speaker 1: so you know, you can't just hire one or two
- 12:49Speaker 1: people and think that the whole culture is gonna shift,
- 12:51Speaker 1: so you don't. We'll see what happens. But you know,
- 12:54Speaker 1: I agree with you because I feel snubbed because I'm
- 12:57Speaker 1: in a few songs that I know I should have
- 13:00Speaker 1: won Grammy. But all those songs should have been they
- 13:05Speaker 1: just came out to me. The songs Daddy came. That's
- 13:10Speaker 1: been months ago. You're telling me that the song that
- 13:12Speaker 1: came out seven six months ago David Bann and them
- 13:17Speaker 1: had and what David being the song burning Ship. We
- 13:21Speaker 1: go this, okay, but I like that song, and so
- 13:27Speaker 1: that's been months it was it was before there was
- 13:30Speaker 1: like when to time. I don't know anyway, with a
- 13:33Speaker 1: lot of those songs that you are in, I should
- 13:37Speaker 1: have received the Grammy. I'm I better get one next year.
- 13:41Speaker 1: For Traded Truth, we got a song with him. I'm
- 13:45Speaker 1: on tas album, I'm on who Else album out on
- 13:48Speaker 1: Jeezy or you know, we gotta win a Grammy. You
- 13:51Speaker 1: know what I mean. Listen to you, just like a
- 13:53Speaker 1: real artist, most an artist. This don't work out, you
- 13:58Speaker 1: go give it meg Listen in Vogue had me and
- 14:01Speaker 1: it wasn't a song. It was a performance that they
- 14:04Speaker 1: did for one of the award shows. I can't remember
- 14:07Speaker 1: exactly which one, but I was in an in Vogue performance.
- 14:12Speaker 1: That's amazing. So it's a lot of kin I understand.
- 14:17Speaker 1: We are upset because she don't know where is that.
- 14:24Speaker 1: It's don't know nothing, but I know I should have
- 14:28Speaker 1: been in it. Just keep on keep going. Yeah, you're
- 14:32Speaker 1: a new artist. You could have been new artists. As
- 14:34Speaker 1: our young brother Travis would say, keep going, Travis. Before
- 14:41Speaker 1: we go to the next segment and have our special
- 14:43Speaker 1: guests joint, we're gonna take a quick break for our sponsors.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Speaking of lyricists, we have one of my all time favorites.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I would put her in a gold category. And it
- 14:56Speaker 1: ain't just as a girl, you know, like, oh she's
- 14:58Speaker 1: wanting girl. No, she is a dope. Just artists and
- 15:01Speaker 1: rapper and female artists. And she's actually my sister friends,
- 15:14Speaker 1: your sister friend, first star. You know how you make
- 15:17Speaker 1: up words. We have our sistar rap City, my home girl. Yes, yes,
- 15:27Speaker 1: look at what's going on with love one A little bit,
- 15:40Speaker 1: clean up a little bit sometime. Listen, we miss you.
- 15:43Speaker 1: We haven't seen you in a in a few weeks
- 15:46Speaker 1: um since you were out with us. Organizing and getting
- 15:49Speaker 1: people out to vote. And I have to say congratulations
- 15:53Speaker 1: to you because I know that one of the reasons
- 15:55Speaker 1: why you were out there on the ground helping to
- 15:58Speaker 1: get people to the polls because you believe that we
- 16:01Speaker 1: need a new administration and we while we have one. Yes,
- 16:06Speaker 1: finally it was nerve racking, but we didn't. I wasn't
- 16:09Speaker 1: in the politics before at all. Like I didn't vote,
- 16:12Speaker 1: I ain't nothing, But I've learned so much the last
- 16:16Speaker 1: three elections for elections, um about the process, and you know,
- 16:21Speaker 1: I understand even more how important every one person counts,
- 16:25Speaker 1: Like we saw it in the numbers, like you know,
- 16:27Speaker 1: it could be five thousand people that can make the difference,
- 16:31Speaker 1: you know, it going one way or the other. So, yeah,
- 16:34Speaker 1: it was a good moment. I'm happy that y'all brought
- 16:36Speaker 1: me along. Yeah. No, you've been with us. You've been
- 16:39Speaker 1: with us. It's incredible to have you as a friend
- 16:42Speaker 1: and a sister. And what we've been debating are talking about,
- 16:45Speaker 1: I won't say debating, uh, is this idea of the
- 16:48Speaker 1: difference between a lyricist and a rapper. And my son,
- 16:52Speaker 1: as you know, believes you're one of the best lyricists
- 16:55Speaker 1: in the world shout out to my son, who was awesome,
- 16:59Speaker 1: but absolutely, I mean, you know, when you when you
- 17:04Speaker 1: believe and you understand the craft, you bet you have
- 17:08Speaker 1: to acknowledge other people who take the craft as serious
- 17:11Speaker 1: as you and actually push you. Like I listened to
- 17:14Speaker 1: Wrap and be like, Okay, I gotta wrap now. Do
- 17:16Speaker 1: you know how dope you are? Like do you be like, Yo,
- 17:18Speaker 1: I'm really dope. Some days I'm gonna tell you. I'm
- 17:21Speaker 1: gonna tell you what it is for me, Like I
- 17:22Speaker 1: gotta I gotta kind of trick myself out right. I
- 17:25Speaker 1: hear some stuff and I'll be like, as of lately,
- 17:27Speaker 1: I'll be like, hey, I'm really nice at what I do,
- 17:29Speaker 1: you know. And then there's some days I'm like, I
- 17:31Speaker 1: don't even want to think that way because I like
- 17:33Speaker 1: feeling like I'm an underdog, so I always stay hungry,
- 17:36Speaker 1: you know. I mean, I don't want to be comfortable,
- 17:39Speaker 1: you know, And I don't know if that's right or
- 17:41Speaker 1: wrong or whatever, but that's my process. So um, I
- 17:44Speaker 1: don't you know, I don't even I don't even think
- 17:46Speaker 1: I'm better now though my confidence is because before my
- 17:49Speaker 1: confidence wasn't always there. I felt like I had to
- 17:52Speaker 1: be be validated, you know, and when people didn't validate
- 17:56Speaker 1: your you didn't feel like you any spaces that you
- 17:59Speaker 1: were supposed to be. You kind of look inward when
- 18:01Speaker 1: I ain't always the case, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:03Speaker 1: So I understand where to five value in myself. Man,
- 18:07Speaker 1: you have to be your biggest champion. I feel like
- 18:10Speaker 1: there are rooms that you know we're not in, right
- 18:13Speaker 1: because I have that same issue in terms of a
- 18:16Speaker 1: lack of confidence at times, feeling like I don't necessarily
- 18:19Speaker 1: have the education or the background that some of the
- 18:23Speaker 1: greats in terms of leaders activists you know have and
- 18:29Speaker 1: um and don't know how to say all the big
- 18:31Speaker 1: words and all of that, right. So I struggle with that.
- 18:34Speaker 1: But I feel like if I'm not in a room
- 18:36Speaker 1: at this point, it's something wrong with the room. It's
- 18:39Speaker 1: not me, you know, because even though I may not
- 18:42Speaker 1: be at their level, I still bring something to the table.
- 18:46Speaker 1: And if you feel like this is not a place
- 18:48Speaker 1: that I should be, then hey, that's now I'm starting
- 18:51Speaker 1: to be like, oh, that's y'all. You you're missing out
- 18:55Speaker 1: by not having Rhapsody as part of whatever You're missing
- 18:59Speaker 1: out by not giving that Grammy, it's say something about you.
- 19:02Speaker 1: But you've been nominated three times or two times. Uh,
- 19:06Speaker 1: I just got my fourth this year by way of
- 19:08Speaker 1: artist by the name of Jacob colly um. But three
- 19:12Speaker 1: three for me to with Laylas wasn't a woman Kendred. Wow,
- 19:17Speaker 1: that's amazing, just you know, just to just to not
- 19:21Speaker 1: have the celebrity that everybody else has because a lot
- 19:24Speaker 1: of these war shows, you know, celebrity is a big
- 19:26Speaker 1: part of it. So you know, to to at least
- 19:29Speaker 1: be acknowledged four times, I'll take that. But you know,
- 19:33Speaker 1: I've come to also understand, like you know, even if
- 19:36Speaker 1: you don't, that doesn't change anything for you. You know
- 19:40Speaker 1: what I'm saying again, you don't need anybody to validate you.
- 19:43Speaker 1: But it feels good to be acknowledged. It's dope. It's
- 19:46Speaker 1: dope to be acknowledged. And you just have such a
- 19:49Speaker 1: humble spirit. You know, when you just hanging out with
- 19:52Speaker 1: you and just being with you, you just so humble.
- 19:55Speaker 1: But when you get on that Mic she just and
- 20:00Speaker 1: then Mike, you see this level of like aggression and
- 20:04Speaker 1: confidence and fire that you just is a star quality.
- 20:08Speaker 1: You know that that is so unique you understand. I
- 20:12Speaker 1: think you're on this pace for greatness. It's not just
- 20:15Speaker 1: given to you. A lot of artists have this. They
- 20:18Speaker 1: just pop on the scene and have just this major
- 20:20Speaker 1: co san or they get this one song and then
- 20:23Speaker 1: they move into it real fast. I think the gradual
- 20:27Speaker 1: growth of you as an artist and people paying attention
- 20:31Speaker 1: is what is just making you into this grid, is
- 20:34Speaker 1: putting you in that gold category. Look, and I think
- 20:37Speaker 1: about Oprah, Right, I'm in the video just I Jamica Mallory.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I'm in the video just so people don't but the
- 20:46Speaker 1: song is about money, right, like black women using our
- 20:52Speaker 1: economic power. First of all, who came up with that concept?
- 20:56Speaker 1: And what's the artist's name who's also in the in
- 20:59Speaker 1: the song? Kaylee Ford? He said, amazing, like one of
- 21:05Speaker 1: my favorites. Um, as far as the concept for the
- 21:09Speaker 1: song itself, that was that was you know, that was
- 21:11Speaker 1: me at That was on the Eve album And again
- 21:14Speaker 1: I named every record for those who haven't heard it
- 21:16Speaker 1: after a black woman. And I wanted to touch on,
- 21:19Speaker 1: you know, our economic power and how black women are
- 21:21Speaker 1: the most educated. You know, we own the most businesses too,
- 21:25Speaker 1: and um, you know, just just talk about that side,
- 21:27Speaker 1: like we could talk about money in so many different ways.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I wanted to about it in a different way, in
- 21:32Speaker 1: a boss way as far as like the video, and
- 21:34Speaker 1: we had to have you, um and uh, who else
- 21:40Speaker 1: do we have? Oh my home girl Erica. Um. You
- 21:43Speaker 1: know I got with Mesa Hilton, you know, the legendary
- 21:47Speaker 1: creative Um. You know, we just bounced ideas on you know,
- 21:50Speaker 1: how we wanted to look um. But you know, we
- 21:53Speaker 1: definitely wanted to highlight nothing but black women businesses, ownerships.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Wanted to have y'all at the table with the bag
- 21:59Speaker 1: of money and talk about like where where is our
- 22:02Speaker 1: money and our power? Most beneficial? You know. They see
- 22:05Speaker 1: your college courses based upon ye music from E which
- 22:11Speaker 1: is amazing the highest bar I think I could ever
- 22:15Speaker 1: be given. You get the awards and everything, but when
- 22:20Speaker 1: you reach you know, institutions of education, you live forever
- 22:25Speaker 1: like they are. They are teaching you and preparing you
- 22:28Speaker 1: in the same way they teach you math and science
- 22:30Speaker 1: and history, how to critically think things that stick with
- 22:33Speaker 1: you forever. Like to be in those spaces like I
- 22:36Speaker 1: think that's the highest bar that anybody can give you.
- 22:39Speaker 1: An acknowledgement gratitude like that's bigger than any grammar and
- 22:43Speaker 1: any award for me, it sure is. Has there been
- 22:46Speaker 1: times throughout your career where you was like, you know,
- 22:50Speaker 1: let me just make a song like this so people
- 22:52Speaker 1: can pay attention, not to pay attention, because it's more
- 22:58Speaker 1: so sometimes you're just like, yo, I just want to
- 23:00Speaker 1: have fun today, and like people look at me and
- 23:04Speaker 1: they put me in a box on who they think
- 23:07Speaker 1: I am based on the music I make. When you
- 23:09Speaker 1: don't really know me, like you don't know how I group,
- 23:12Speaker 1: You don't know what I listened to. You don't know
- 23:13Speaker 1: what I like to do because I choose to show
- 23:15Speaker 1: up a certain way, you know, for the purpose of
- 23:18Speaker 1: bringing balance or whatever. That don't mean that I don't
- 23:21Speaker 1: like to have fun. I don't mean I don't like
- 23:23Speaker 1: to shake my butt in the mirror to that I
- 23:24Speaker 1: don't go to the club and back it up, want
- 23:26Speaker 1: to do as well, Like that's who I am as well.
- 23:29Speaker 1: So it's some days you just want to be like,
- 23:31Speaker 1: I don't really want to think about it. I just
- 23:33Speaker 1: want to have fun like everybody else having fun, That's
- 23:37Speaker 1: what it's about. For me. It's not it would only
- 23:39Speaker 1: be about trying to be seen if I copy what
- 23:41Speaker 1: you did, like if I'm trying to be you and
- 23:45Speaker 1: I'm trying to sound like you, na, but sometimes it's
- 23:48Speaker 1: just like yo, I just wanna I want to do
- 23:50Speaker 1: my version of what fun is for me, you know. Yeah?
- 23:54Speaker 1: And that's what we've been talking about. What why? Because
- 23:57Speaker 1: people I posted it on my page and people lost
- 24:00Speaker 1: their minds, and somehow or another, you ended up getting
- 24:04Speaker 1: my trolls. I don't know exactly how, but they went
- 24:08Speaker 1: to you and and and they were really upset like
- 24:11Speaker 1: that you are U and and organized a leader and
- 24:15Speaker 1: you're out here talking and celebrating why. And you and
- 24:18Speaker 1: I were looking at each other like yeah, because, first
- 24:23Speaker 1: of all, as we have said a million times, why
- 24:27Speaker 1: is the number one selling product whatever you want to
- 24:31Speaker 1: call in the world. Okay, so stop acting like, all
- 24:35Speaker 1: of a sudden, when women start talking about their own bodies,
- 24:38Speaker 1: when we take agency over our message and put out
- 24:41Speaker 1: whatever it is that you know, the art that artistry
- 24:44Speaker 1: or whatever word you use, Um that all of a sudden,
- 24:48Speaker 1: there's are are whatever he makes up words? Um that
- 24:52Speaker 1: that now, all of a sudden, there's an issue because
- 24:55Speaker 1: guess what men have been selling our way for years
- 24:59Speaker 1: we and selling what forever? Now? Because Cardi and Meg
- 25:03Speaker 1: decide they're gonna put a song together, which actually is
- 25:06Speaker 1: a dope song, there's a problem. Yeah, I had to
- 25:11Speaker 1: do some critical thinking, right, and because let me tell you,
- 25:14Speaker 1: they'd be at my neck anytime. Anytime something sexual comes out,
- 25:19Speaker 1: I always get thrown into mentions and then haters coming
- 25:21Speaker 1: me and I don't even say nothing. I just like,
- 25:23Speaker 1: I'm open in minding my own business. But I had
- 25:27Speaker 1: a critical thing like, okay, what is the real issue?
- 25:30Speaker 1: You know? And I think that people have an issue
- 25:33Speaker 1: and that they're putting it towards the wrong place. Right.
- 25:37Speaker 1: It's not about Cardi, it's not about Megan, it's not
- 25:39Speaker 1: about whoever else. It's about you want to see more balanced,
- 25:43Speaker 1: But that comes from the industry, from eating, from fans
- 25:47Speaker 1: supporting it. So you know, don't put that energy towards them,
- 25:51Speaker 1: like celebrate them that they let them do what they
- 25:53Speaker 1: want to do. But if you want to see more balance,
- 25:55Speaker 1: you have to ask yourself what can I do right?
- 25:58Speaker 1: If you want to if you love a La Kaylie
- 26:00Speaker 1: forty seven and what comes out and goes crazy, but
- 26:02Speaker 1: you want to dope Lokyle forty song that should get
- 26:05Speaker 1: the same love. You gotta go out and buy that
- 26:07Speaker 1: music by those concerts. Like you know, if you're seeing
- 26:12Speaker 1: a media outlet that don't have the balance that you want,
- 26:15Speaker 1: don't support it. You know. For me, I understand that
- 26:19Speaker 1: side of wanting to have more variety because yet men
- 26:23Speaker 1: have been selling why but you they also have space
- 26:26Speaker 1: for Kendricks and Jake Cole's from you know what I'm saying,
- 26:29Speaker 1: it can's the rappers and we don't have that space
- 26:32Speaker 1: for a rhapsody Lakley forty seven a three D natty
- 26:36Speaker 1: Like you know, they don't get the same attention. That's
- 26:39Speaker 1: just how I look at him, Like, Okay, I understand
- 26:40Speaker 1: your argument, but it's displaced, like it can't it can't
- 26:45Speaker 1: be about Cardian men like they hot that that song
- 26:48Speaker 1: is dope. The sample that use I was like, oh
- 26:52Speaker 1: that was Joust I was. But speaking of support, um
- 27:00Speaker 1: Dock Nation is very supportive of Until Freedom, and you
- 27:03Speaker 1: have also been extremely supportive of our work, not just
- 27:07Speaker 1: with your Rock Nation, but just in general. J and
- 27:10Speaker 1: Desiree and the entire team. Uh. They met with us
- 27:14Speaker 1: and Charlemagne was the one to push and say y'all
- 27:17Speaker 1: need to be working together, and they met with us
- 27:20Speaker 1: and since then they have been so into and for
- 27:25Speaker 1: our work UM and trying to support us. And Jay
- 27:27Speaker 1: understands that support means putting dollars behind the work that
- 27:32Speaker 1: we're doing. And you sign with them, and I'm just
- 27:35Speaker 1: I want to know when you talk about support, how
- 27:38Speaker 1: different does it feel to be with a company and
- 27:43Speaker 1: organization that cares about everything that Racity stands for, not
- 27:48Speaker 1: just your music, but also your concerns of community and
- 27:52Speaker 1: they're involved in just so many philanthropic efforts. What is
- 27:57Speaker 1: that like for you? Man? That's that's so the feeling. Um.
- 28:01Speaker 1: You know, it feels like family. It feels like you're
- 28:04Speaker 1: part of something that's bigger in business, I've had a
- 28:07Speaker 1: few emails with Jay Z and we talk about He'll
- 28:10Speaker 1: He'll say, this ain't a business. This is culture for me,
- 28:13Speaker 1: and that's that's what I want to be attached to.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I don't want to be attached to, you know, a
- 28:17Speaker 1: business that's just empty and it's all about money, money, money.
- 28:20Speaker 1: You get with an organization like rock Nation, you know
- 28:23Speaker 1: that that care about the culture, the people in it.
- 28:26Speaker 1: You know, it's not just about the bottom line. It's like,
- 28:28Speaker 1: you know, how can we help and enrich not only
- 28:30Speaker 1: our artists but our people at the same time, So,
- 28:33Speaker 1: you know, to be with an organization like Jay you
- 28:36Speaker 1: know what. Yeah, I was talking to him one day.
- 28:38Speaker 1: He was like, you know, it's I could go be
- 28:40Speaker 1: rich somewhere. It could like I could, you know, but
- 28:45Speaker 1: I choose to show up because that's what that's the
- 28:48Speaker 1: right thing to do, and that's what I want to do.
- 28:49Speaker 1: And people that you see care like that and take
- 28:53Speaker 1: care of the people and think outside of themselves, They're
- 28:55Speaker 1: gonna treat you right as an artist as well. I
- 28:58Speaker 1: want to ask you this question, like do you want
- 29:00Speaker 1: your legacy when we're sitting as old ladies on the
- 29:03Speaker 1: beach saying on our backs drive five year old, then
- 29:08Speaker 1: that's right right you are here and trying, oh my god,
- 29:17Speaker 1: like seven years old with the forty five year old
- 29:20Speaker 1: hottie running around like with the you might have some debt,
- 29:29Speaker 1: have a little debt on the beach at seventy years
- 29:32Speaker 1: old with the without forty five yo. Boo. What you
- 29:37Speaker 1: want people to say about Rapsody? I mean, I think
- 29:40Speaker 1: at the end of the day, I just want to
- 29:42Speaker 1: be known as somebody, uh, you know who who went
- 29:45Speaker 1: against the green, who didn't follow the flow, who was
- 29:49Speaker 1: the flow? Who fired people? Who um who also showed
- 29:53Speaker 1: up for people? You know, it was a voice for
- 29:55Speaker 1: people and hopefully you know that wide in the door
- 30:00Speaker 1: other for other females especially to come through. You know,
- 30:03Speaker 1: I definitely want to be one that impacted the culture
- 30:07Speaker 1: in that way and made even more space, you know,
- 30:10Speaker 1: for women to show up however they want to show up,
- 30:13Speaker 1: you know whatever that looks like. Um and to be
- 30:17Speaker 1: one of the greatest to ever do talk that. That's
- 30:20Speaker 1: what I'm talking about. Man talk it across from gender.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Not not the best woman to ever do it, but
- 30:29Speaker 1: just the best to ever do it. I didn't go
- 30:32Speaker 1: with the flow. That is the quote that I'm going
- 30:37Speaker 1: to having graves. I might put that on my Instagram
- 30:40Speaker 1: and I'm still in it. It's gonna be gonna with
- 30:46Speaker 1: your name. Rhapsody said this because you are the flow.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Both before we leave, could you take us out with
- 30:52Speaker 1: something real quick? You know that, because listen, this is
- 30:56Speaker 1: one of the greatest that ever did it. Like this
- 30:58Speaker 1: is what we do. We wraps. We gotta wrap all right,
- 31:04Speaker 1: talk flesh, Bob mar speak mind wh you thought the
- 31:07Speaker 1: ninety nine problems was were on Druggs legality. They got
- 31:11Speaker 1: us on fallacies recorded in casualties. I was supposed to
- 31:14Speaker 1: resort in the mouthieves. Now we're in the rallies, now
- 31:18Speaker 1: boxing and I G now boxing and I D and
- 31:21Speaker 1: the memory point Hennessey and Bamboo shot reaching for the
- 31:24Speaker 1: I D get off my neck, nigga nless Cuban link.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I think like the Cubans think, you'll never get the
- 31:29Speaker 1: side of back. I got your back, team Mallory, carry
- 31:32Speaker 1: on like a product bag. That's it. Then we go
- 31:38Speaker 1: get off my neck unless you Cuban Lane. That's what
- 31:41Speaker 1: I'm talking. We love you, appreciate you, love one. Thank
- 31:46Speaker 1: you y'all. Look fly today too. Yeah we do that,
- 31:50Speaker 1: you know, politicians do that. Before we go to the
- 31:56Speaker 1: next segment and have our special guests joint, we're gonna
- 31:59Speaker 1: take a quick break for sponsors now in our activist
- 32:04Speaker 1: moment that um is really really important to the street
- 32:08Speaker 1: politicians family into this show. I am extremely proudly have
- 32:14Speaker 1: one of my mentees, although the other day she told me, listen,
- 32:19Speaker 1: I don't have time for you because I'm a law student.
- 32:22Speaker 1: I'm running the until freedom Atlanta Division. I'm working with
- 32:27Speaker 1: several organizations, and I'm helping with my little brother's business
- 32:32Speaker 1: that has now become a family operation, Mason super Dogs. Okay,
- 32:37Speaker 1: you know, Mason is like, I don't even know we're
- 32:39Speaker 1: gonna talk about extraordin there. Okay, And Mary said, so,
- 32:44Speaker 1: I don't got time to be on text messages and
- 32:46Speaker 1: phone calls with you whatever. But this is my mentee
- 32:52Speaker 1: who is an incredible organized that she's been organized and
- 32:55Speaker 1: since nine years old, maybe even eight years old, doing
- 32:59Speaker 1: great work in a community around gun violence, around civil
- 33:02Speaker 1: rights issues. Um and not just in Georgia, but across
- 33:07Speaker 1: the country. She is well known as being a and
- 33:11Speaker 1: a well at one point it was a young activist
- 33:14Speaker 1: and now she's an adult who just recently graduated from
- 33:17Speaker 1: Spellman and now is a law student. And I'm super
- 33:21Speaker 1: proud to have Mary pat Heck there to join us
- 33:24Speaker 1: today on street Politicians. What's going on? Mary pat thank
- 33:28Speaker 1: you all so much for having me. Are we gonna
- 33:30Speaker 1: win the Senate election? Oh? I'm sorry, my son, did
- 33:35Speaker 1: I jumped to ask your question? Lord have mercy? Are
- 33:40Speaker 1: we gonna win the Senate race in Atlanta? Mary Pett,
- 33:43Speaker 1: are we gonna win on the young people gonna come
- 33:45Speaker 1: out and vote. I'm hoping that we will win us
- 33:48Speaker 1: in an election. Who would have thought that young people
- 33:51Speaker 1: would have pushed Joe Biden over the top in the
- 33:53Speaker 1: state of Georgia. Many people were looking at Pennsylvania and Wisconsin,
- 33:58Speaker 1: UM in other cities thinking that, you know, Joe Biden
- 34:00Speaker 1: was gonna win, But no one even predicted that Georgia
- 34:03Speaker 1: would be in a physician that it is in right now.
- 34:05Speaker 1: And so I believe that young people will show up
- 34:08Speaker 1: to the polls, and I believe that we will win.
- 34:10Speaker 1: But I think we're gonna need to do a lot
- 34:12Speaker 1: more mobilizing, which is what we're doing every weekend, going
- 34:16Speaker 1: to different cities across the state UM of Georgia and
- 34:18Speaker 1: those world black communities to ask them to turn back up.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Statistics show that UM normally and runoff elections here in
- 34:26Speaker 1: the State of Georgia, that Conservatives and Republicans turn up more.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Uh So, I'm hoping that if we continue to push
- 34:34Speaker 1: the importance of the Senten set and the fact that
- 34:37Speaker 1: we always criticize the fact that President of Bamas wasn't
- 34:40Speaker 1: able to do much for people of color. If we
- 34:42Speaker 1: tell them due to political gridlock, we can't afford for
- 34:45Speaker 1: this to happen again for another four years. We are
- 34:48Speaker 1: depending on the synecy that young people will show back up.
- 34:52Speaker 1: A lot of people don't really understand, like when we
- 34:55Speaker 1: talk about Obama's presidency and a lot of people said
- 34:57Speaker 1: Obama didn't do anything, he didn't have this done, and
- 35:00Speaker 1: they don't understand how in relation to the presidency, the
- 35:04Speaker 1: Senate is very important. Could you kind of break down
- 35:07Speaker 1: why it's important for us to win these two seats
- 35:10Speaker 1: right now? And you're talked a little bit about the
- 35:12Speaker 1: bottleneck r and that's and so, so just talk a
- 35:16Speaker 1: little bit more about that. You just break it down
- 35:18Speaker 1: for the average person at home that just doesn't get it. Yeah, Well,
- 35:23Speaker 1: our government is broken down into three branches of government.
- 35:27Speaker 1: And the reason why we call it the iron triangles
- 35:30Speaker 1: because we need the iron triangle to basically ensure that
- 35:34Speaker 1: one position in government doesn't control the entire government, like
- 35:39Speaker 1: we all need everything in order to go around in
- 35:42Speaker 1: a circle. Um. And so the president can't do much
- 35:45Speaker 1: without the support of the Senate. UM. And the President
- 35:49Speaker 1: nor the Senate. Can you really outlaw what the report
- 35:52Speaker 1: Justice says so there's like a balance in power months
- 35:55Speaker 1: those branches of government. Um. And so the Senate is
- 35:58Speaker 1: there to ensure that the president does or doesn't do something.
- 36:01Speaker 1: But if the Senate um is against the president party wise, uh,
- 36:06Speaker 1: it's really unfair because anything that the president pushes won't happen.
- 36:11Speaker 1: There were so many seats that the President of the
- 36:13Speaker 1: United States when Barack Obama was president, tried to um
- 36:16Speaker 1: uh vote for for the Supreme Court, and every time
- 36:20Speaker 1: the Republican Senate would just knock it down and knock
- 36:22Speaker 1: it down. It was President Barack Obama's goal to ensure
- 36:25Speaker 1: that our woman had that see the black woman, and
- 36:27Speaker 1: it never happened. For us. It's important for us to
- 36:30Speaker 1: understand like the fact that this Senacy, I want to say,
- 36:34Speaker 1: is almost just as important as the presidential see, like
- 36:38Speaker 1: if not more important. Before you go, just want to
- 36:41Speaker 1: ask you because you know again you told you told
- 36:43Speaker 1: me the other day, don't call you while you in
- 36:45Speaker 1: law school, um, in terms of what you're learning. Right, So,
- 36:52Speaker 1: we were going through this situation where we now know
- 36:55Speaker 1: that a committee in Kentucky has said that they will
- 37:01Speaker 1: established or assign assign a new special prosecutor to deal
- 37:07Speaker 1: with Brianna Taylors the case and and and the matter
- 37:10Speaker 1: of Brianna Taylor. Do y'all learn that stuff in law school? Like,
- 37:15Speaker 1: while you're in law school, are you learning about current cases?
- 37:19Speaker 1: Or is it all pretty much our case? You know,
- 37:22Speaker 1: it's all our chag As was like the public policy portion.
- 37:26Speaker 1: I'm doing dual degree and with the public policy portion,
- 37:30Speaker 1: we didn't even talk about the election one um. In
- 37:33Speaker 1: a master's program, everything that we're learning right now is
- 37:36Speaker 1: very archy and old, um, And it's really just up
- 37:39Speaker 1: to you, like in your personal time, to really investigate
- 37:42Speaker 1: and learn those things around you. Continue to do the
- 37:45Speaker 1: work Mary pet I see Mary pat working. You know
- 37:48Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Every time we go, Mary Patt is
- 37:50Speaker 1: on the ground. She's ordering us around, telling this week
- 37:53Speaker 1: she needs us to do. She's controlling everything, you know
- 37:56Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So, but we love you. Keep doing
- 37:58Speaker 1: the work. She's got to go. She had super at
- 38:01Speaker 1: Mason super Dogs right now on the line helping her
- 38:06Speaker 1: young brother to get the work done. Mason told me,
- 38:11Speaker 1: he said, listen, how old is Mason? Mary Mason at
- 38:16Speaker 1: fourteen years old has his own business, a real it
- 38:19Speaker 1: has there's a facility, just so y'all know there's an
- 38:22Speaker 1: actual building where he sells his hot dogs. He started
- 38:26Speaker 1: out selling hot dogs on the corners and doing you know,
- 38:30Speaker 1: and the work at more House and uh, you know,
- 38:33Speaker 1: being sort of like a street vendor, and now he
- 38:36Speaker 1: has an actual facility. He said, I watched my sister
- 38:40Speaker 1: as an activist, and I see that she cannot make
- 38:43Speaker 1: real money from that. So what I'm gonna do is
- 38:46Speaker 1: build the business model so i can support my sister.
- 38:50Speaker 1: And I loved that concept black business as well as
- 38:54Speaker 1: organizing to come together. Thanks Mary Pat love you, Mary Pat.
- 38:58Speaker 1: See you. That's how we are that I don't every
- 39:03Speaker 1: week you don't get something. I don't get a lot
- 39:05Speaker 1: of stuff, man. And since we're talking about music, I
- 39:08Speaker 1: just don't get why we don't promote, celebrate, you know,
- 39:17Speaker 1: reward good music and we push the most negative trash
- 39:25Speaker 1: music in the world, like, like literally literally when you
- 39:29Speaker 1: look at the people who look like Rhapsody, you understand
- 39:33Speaker 1: I'm saying, like the fact that Rhapsody is not celebrated
- 39:37Speaker 1: to the highest degree with the level of artistry she
- 39:41Speaker 1: puts in lyricism like that. But it's a body of
- 39:46Speaker 1: work even is a body of work, you know, and
- 39:49Speaker 1: it's not celebrated nearly as much as somebody like Little
- 39:54Speaker 1: Pump or something like that. Like, how how do how
- 39:58Speaker 1: do we not celebrate something that's that dope? She said it,
- 40:02Speaker 1: She gave the answer, She said that we have. It's
- 40:05Speaker 1: not just looking at one side of the coin. You
- 40:09Speaker 1: have to flip that coin over and look at media
- 40:12Speaker 1: in general and how we are portraying the industry what
- 40:17Speaker 1: they actually want to sell to. But that's what I'm saying,
- 40:21Speaker 1: because people benefit from us going into prison, People benefit
- 40:25Speaker 1: from us um you know, not being as educated as
- 40:29Speaker 1: we should be. People benefit from us not It's not
- 40:32Speaker 1: even about education, it's just about quality. It's just about
- 40:37Speaker 1: when you hear music that has a message that has
- 40:41Speaker 1: substance that that is gonna last be eternal. You know
- 40:45Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Why would you not celebrate music that
- 40:48Speaker 1: has an eternal feeling that the emotion that's in that
- 40:51Speaker 1: song it's going to transcend just this time period. But again,
- 40:58Speaker 1: who are you talking about an element that we as
- 41:04Speaker 1: a people, where we as people need to support those things.
- 41:08Speaker 1: But what I'm saying to you is that there are
- 41:11Speaker 1: people who benefit from our stupor that they need us
- 41:15Speaker 1: to stay doped up on pills, going to prison, glorifying.
- 41:22Speaker 1: We know, I understand those images are being promoted over
- 41:28Speaker 1: and over and over again, and it sells as what's cool.
- 41:32Speaker 1: So if you are making, if you can make millions
- 41:35Speaker 1: of dollars being ignorant, where you can't you you damned
- 41:38Speaker 1: and sleep all the time. You're mumbling everything and nobody
- 41:42Speaker 1: even knows what the hell you're talking about. And you're
- 41:44Speaker 1: selling popping pills and wearing chains and all of that stuff,
- 41:47Speaker 1: and that's all that's your whole message. If you make
- 41:50Speaker 1: millions of dollars doing that, and the same companies will
- 41:54Speaker 1: not pay a mice on a Rhapsody and other Knelon
- 41:58Speaker 1: and others, then these young kids are taught that the
- 42:01Speaker 1: direction they have to follow is the one that actually
- 42:05Speaker 1: can take care of your family and get you out
- 42:07Speaker 1: the hood. So that's why, because it's designed like that,
- 42:11Speaker 1: it is and I just but I don't get it,
- 42:14Speaker 1: though I get it, but like we should just know
- 42:18Speaker 1: like this this sounds good, This is good, Dan, this
- 42:21Speaker 1: is real. Because most people hear the same music and
- 42:25Speaker 1: be like, yo, that that's just dope. It's dope, but
- 42:28Speaker 1: they don't support it. They don't go out like people
- 42:30Speaker 1: will love you in private. It is artists who have
- 42:33Speaker 1: the biggest statue in the world come to me and
- 42:35Speaker 1: be like, yo, yo, you're so dope. They tell you that,
- 42:39Speaker 1: but they won't go any platforms and promote. They won't
- 42:42Speaker 1: come and say, put you on this song. They won't
- 42:45Speaker 1: push let me promote this song for you like. They
- 42:47Speaker 1: won't do it like radio heads and all of that
- 42:49Speaker 1: to tell you how much they love you. I love
- 42:51Speaker 1: what you do. Your music is dope, but they don't
- 42:53Speaker 1: push it, you know, because you and I think that's
- 42:57Speaker 1: what rap she was saying. She was like, we can't complain.
- 43:01Speaker 1: We got to go out and support that. You know,
- 43:03Speaker 1: there's no boss that we don't support that. And I'm
- 43:05Speaker 1: just I just don't know why we don't why we
- 43:07Speaker 1: we know we love it. We hear it, were like,
- 43:09Speaker 1: this is dope, this and that, but why won't we
- 43:11Speaker 1: support things that we actually love that's good for us
- 43:15Speaker 1: and to us. I mean, what you're saying makes perfect
- 43:19Speaker 1: sense that we complain and we say there's too much violence. Um,
- 43:24Speaker 1: you know, there's there's not enough support resources in our
- 43:27Speaker 1: community and then we we we actually perpetuate those things
- 43:32Speaker 1: by supporting the stuff. That's completely so, I guess I
- 43:39Speaker 1: don't get that one with you see kind of don't
- 43:44Speaker 1: don't get too exct Listen, we're not always gonna agree.
- 43:49Speaker 1: I'm not gonna always be right, and even though she's
- 43:53Speaker 1: mostly wrong, she's not gonna always be wrong. But we're
- 43:57Speaker 1: always going to be authentic. Always make sure that you
- 44:01Speaker 1: come give us your feedback. Let us know what you
- 44:04Speaker 1: want to hear, what guests you want to see, what
- 44:06Speaker 1: topics you want us to discuss. You know we're already
- 44:09Speaker 1: the number one podcast. You can let us know that.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Tell us how dope we are. Know they gotta help
- 44:14Speaker 1: us com number one, but we are zero zero, were
- 44:18Speaker 1: before number one. Just keep on, you know, giving us
- 44:21Speaker 1: your feedback you want to hear it. If you hate us,
