- 0:11Speaker 2: The World's of Vigeon podcast.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:21Speaker 2: So then it sounds like the Patriots will have their
- 0:23Speaker 2: choice of Will Campbell or Mason Graham.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's that's where we're at. And I
- 0:27Speaker 3: think that's what I'm trying to come to grips with.
- 0:31Speaker 4: It's been a bad place. Notifications come in. Does Evan
- 0:34Speaker 4: Lazar take on Will Campbell and what it means? And
- 0:37Speaker 4: somebody read that I had like visions of him just
- 0:40Speaker 4: in a dark room by himself. Yes, I can't. I
- 0:44Speaker 4: can't talk now. I can't. I'm not ready. I can't
- 0:46Speaker 4: do this.
- 0:47Speaker 2: You know, we had two thousand and seven Super Bowl.
- 0:49Speaker 2: He's got the Will ramble arm. I was worried about
- 0:51Speaker 2: Evan to the Raiders.
- 0:52Speaker 5: Does he love sugar that much?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Should? Oh it's not sugar. What's here? Every one's worst
- 1:00Speaker 2: and best take they've had. My good takes are too
- 1:03Speaker 2: long to the list. Matt Patricia would be fine as
- 1:07Speaker 2: an offensive coin.
- 1:07Speaker 4: And I'm still gonna give you slacking Why because I
- 1:11Speaker 4: don't think you really believed it.
- 1:12Speaker 2: No, I did. I honestly believe.
- 1:14Speaker 4: I really don't think that you did.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I'm telling you I did, But I think you're being
- 1:17Speaker 2: magnanimums No, I'm not. Of all the odd things that
- 1:20Speaker 2: Fred and Paul have argued about this almost argument, with
- 1:24Speaker 2: Paul saying Fred would write and Fred adamant that he
- 1:26Speaker 2: was wrong, it's perhaps the most unexpected.
- 1:28Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:31Speaker 6: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals buy a Toyota
- 1:34Speaker 6: dot com.
- 1:37Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:41Speaker 2: at Less Stadium. That means the gang's all here. Alex
- 1:44Speaker 2: is here, Deuce is here, Paul Evan, I'm here, Matt's
- 1:47Speaker 2: in the booth, and uh, it's free agencies, and and
- 1:51Speaker 2: the silliness has started. Huh I'm here for it. Yeah,
- 1:54Speaker 2: I love it. I mean it's in one way, it's
- 1:56Speaker 2: great because you know, you are seeing people become available
- 1:59Speaker 2: who you weren't didn't know would be a couple of
- 2:02Speaker 2: weeks ago. So that's great. But at the same time,
- 2:05Speaker 2: the expectation from some people that the Patriot's gonna sign
- 2:08Speaker 2: every one of these people is just crazy. But it's fun.
- 2:12Speaker 2: It's fun, and it is to me, it's encouraging that
- 2:16Speaker 2: you know, there are players who are shaking loose, as
- 2:19Speaker 2: it happens every year. Now, some of these guys are
- 2:23Speaker 2: going to be resigned by their own team, I'm sure,
- 2:27Speaker 2: but you know, here we go, let's let's go, let's
- 2:30Speaker 2: you know, the phones I'm sure are burning up in
- 2:33Speaker 2: the football offices of Jillette Stadium.
- 2:36Speaker 5: That's when it gets interesting because you spend so much
- 2:39Speaker 5: time talking about guys like T Higgins ad nauseum, T
- 2:41Speaker 5: Higgins to Higgins, to the Higgins, and then you get
- 2:43Speaker 5: to this point and some new guys become available, and
- 2:45Speaker 5: it gives you exactly to talk about and to consider
- 2:48Speaker 5: and you know, weighing what the Patriots need between re
- 2:51Speaker 5: establishing I think the wide receiver room is certainly something
- 2:54Speaker 5: I think they should do, but you know, also just
- 2:57Speaker 5: balancing how do you best spend money. I've always been
- 2:59Speaker 5: a fan of the twenty six, twenty seven year old
- 3:02Speaker 5: free agency guys. So when we get into next week,
- 3:04Speaker 5: like I love those signings, there's a lot of what
- 3:05Speaker 5: they did in twenty twenty one, where you're paying for
- 3:07Speaker 5: guys coming off their first deal. You're investing in somebody
- 3:10Speaker 5: that you know still has a future with you, You
- 3:12Speaker 5: can still really work with them for a while and
- 3:14Speaker 5: not worry about them to start starting to fall off
- 3:16Speaker 5: the cliffs. So that's just where I'm not trying to
- 3:18Speaker 5: balance this old guys, young guys.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Does anyone agree with me that there might be more
- 3:22Speaker 2: hope in this crop of free agents who are coming
- 3:26Speaker 2: available to bolster the offensive defensive line than wide receiver
- 3:32Speaker 2: because everyone's focused on wide receiver. I don't see a lot,
- 3:35Speaker 2: but there's some players I think, like Ronnie Stanley for example, who.
- 3:39Speaker 4: If he's available, I mean, we'll see, Yeah, we'll see. Yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 4: Like do this thing I agree with I want, you know,
- 3:47Speaker 4: the twenty five twenty six year old free agents, those
- 3:50Speaker 4: are generally the guys that don't hit the market.
- 3:52Speaker 2: That's t Higgins, Yeah, you know, he's.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Twenty five, and really, I mean he's gonna hit the market,
- 3:58Speaker 4: but not really, he's gonna be so you don't necessarily
- 4:02Speaker 4: get to get him, no strings attached, just for money.
- 4:06Speaker 4: So I think it's hard to get those guys. And
- 4:08Speaker 4: when you sign those guys, you wonder about, well, why
- 4:11Speaker 4: is the team letting him go? When they're in their
- 4:14Speaker 4: prime like that, they don't want to give them a
- 4:15Speaker 4: second contract. That's one of the things that Bill was
- 4:18Speaker 4: sort of criticized about his drafting because they went through
- 4:21Speaker 4: a stretch where Patriots. The Patriots weren't able to re
- 4:26Speaker 4: sign for whatever it was, like five draft classes worth
- 4:30Speaker 4: of second contracts because there was no one really worthy
- 4:33Speaker 4: of resigning. You know, in general terms, those I agree
- 4:37Speaker 4: with Mike, those are the sweet spots. Those are the
- 4:39Speaker 4: guys because you can get them and they're still in
- 4:41Speaker 4: their prime. But if they're available, there's something wrong with them.
- 4:45Speaker 2: But we resigned guy like James Sanders, Untully Bantakay, which
- 4:49Speaker 2: you know.
- 4:49Speaker 4: But I mean, I mean, yeah, that's not a major sign.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Those are.
- 4:55Speaker 2: You need depth players too.
- 4:56Speaker 4: But I'm talking about but the guys that want to stay.
- 5:00Speaker 4: You need Ronnie Stanley to be your left tackle. Well,
- 5:03Speaker 4: this is when you're going to get Ronnie Stanley when
- 5:04Speaker 4: he's thirty, you know, coming off multiple injuries. And I
- 5:09Speaker 4: still don't really think he's going to be available. I
- 5:11Speaker 4: think he's going to stay with Baltimore. But that's when
- 5:13Speaker 4: you get him. So yeah, you can have them, but
- 5:15Speaker 4: his best days are behind him in general terms.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it definitely. League wide is not viewed as a
- 5:21Speaker 3: great free agency class this year. But I think that
- 5:24Speaker 3: what we're seeing is that with all this cap space
- 5:27Speaker 3: around the league, to Paul's point, teams are just resigning
- 5:30Speaker 3: their great players and these guys are now, you know,
- 5:33Speaker 3: never going to even come close to it. Yeah, a
- 5:36Speaker 3: guy like Matt.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Crosby, Zach Bond, Barkley. When you want guys to stay,
- 5:42Speaker 4: you have the ability to have him stay.
- 5:44Speaker 3: There was a lot of re upping in the last
- 5:46Speaker 3: calendar year of guys that are were set to be
- 5:49Speaker 3: expiring contracts are extending with their teams because that's the
- 5:53Speaker 3: way that the teams are spending the cap space. Instead
- 5:55Speaker 3: of going shopping in March, they're just taking care of
- 5:58Speaker 3: their own and doing it that way. So it's not
- 6:01Speaker 3: looked at as a great free agency class this year.
- 6:06Speaker 3: That doesn't include trade people. You know, DK metcalf again, right,
- 6:11Speaker 3: you know, that's a good question for that. It's a good, yeah,
- 6:14Speaker 3: good point.
- 6:14Speaker 5: I like it. I just maybe I'm alone, but like,
- 6:17Speaker 5: does it ever feel like wide receivers just hold the
- 6:19Speaker 5: league hostage?
- 6:20Speaker 2: Like across the board?
- 6:22Speaker 5: It's just all right, DK is good.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Now he's his hatred for the position.
- 6:25Speaker 5: He's unhappy. Now he wants out.
- 6:27Speaker 2: You know, we got to get I like it.
- 6:31Speaker 5: It's a little bit, you know, Spike, he didn't realize. Yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 5: I think I was exasperated by the wide receivers.
- 6:38Speaker 4: If you hate wide receive I'm here for that.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Well, am I crazy?
- 6:41Speaker 7: It's a little bit play.
- 6:43Speaker 5: They're just Steve, we want one so bad and for
- 6:46Speaker 5: how long? A couple of years? Then he's not gonna
- 6:48Speaker 5: be happy. He's gonna want more money or he's you know,
- 6:50Speaker 5: and it's and there's also.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Well you could just go without well no offense.
- 6:55Speaker 5: But that's why, like I just I get annoyed with
- 6:58Speaker 5: everybody that gets released that was you know, caught more
- 7:01Speaker 5: than a hundred balls in a season that everyone's like, oh,
- 7:02Speaker 5: we got to get him. You know. I just I
- 7:04Speaker 5: long for developing our own guys who and you always
- 7:07Speaker 5: kind of you know, talked about Bill drafting guys that
- 7:11Speaker 5: felt like they owed him something a little bit like
- 7:12Speaker 5: I kind of like like that a little bit, you know,
- 7:14Speaker 5: like I want to develop these guys. I want to
- 7:16Speaker 5: give this guy a mid round chance for that, you know,
- 7:18Speaker 5: let them work, you know, I you know, you know
- 7:20Speaker 5: what I'm saying, but you know this, it's just in
- 7:23Speaker 5: a way it feels like high school a little bit,
- 7:24Speaker 5: where like the Hawt girl she just broke up with
- 7:26Speaker 5: her boyfriend, you know, you could be in and someone's
- 7:28Speaker 5: like she would never go to New England. She hates it.
- 7:31Speaker 2: The problem here is the problem here is when is
- 7:37Speaker 2: the last time that we've drafted a Justin Jefferson or
- 7:41Speaker 2: Jamar Chap who's worthy of getting into that. We haven't
- 7:48Speaker 2: been given the opportunity to get a guy like that
- 7:52Speaker 2: to now have to decide whether to give him a
- 7:54Speaker 2: second contract, which I would assume you would yeah no,
- 7:58Speaker 2: And that's and that's the problem. We haven't drafted well
- 8:01Speaker 2: when it comes to that position.
- 8:03Speaker 5: I just love to get to that point where it's like,
- 8:05Speaker 5: oh my god, we found the guy, we drafted him,
- 8:07Speaker 5: and in two years the guy starts to be a
- 8:09Speaker 5: pain in the ass, like and everyone's like why, Like.
- 8:11Speaker 2: We had our guy and Alwa's you know, just pay
- 8:13Speaker 2: him or you know, like why doesn't he want to
- 8:15Speaker 2: be Like why does d K.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Mecoff not want to be in Seattle anymore? Like what
- 8:18Speaker 5: what what happened? Like what you know what, what's wrong
- 8:20Speaker 5: with there? Now?
- 8:21Speaker 2: I don't know a contract.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Yeah, they're not close on the money, but I everything right.
- 8:27Speaker 4: But but he is looking for his third contract.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Second and a half kind of.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Yeah, so and to Evan's point, he's looking to cash
- 8:36Speaker 4: in and they're saying, well, you kind of you're morphing
- 8:40Speaker 4: over here to like one a or two behind Jackson
- 8:43Speaker 4: Smith and Jigba. I would still consider him the one
- 8:48Speaker 4: because I think that without him things are different. Now
- 8:51Speaker 4: the volume guy is going to be JSN, much like
- 8:54Speaker 4: I would have considered Randy Moss the one of the
- 8:57Speaker 4: seven team. But Welker had the receptions. Yeah, one hundred
- 9:00Speaker 4: and forty whatever catches he had, you know, welcome was together,
- 9:03Speaker 4: one hundred and twenty five catch He he was the
- 9:07Speaker 4: most targeted guy, But Moss was the one. And I
- 9:10Speaker 4: think that's the way, you know, it works. And I
- 9:12Speaker 4: think right now Evan's right, Metcalf is gonna look for
- 9:15Speaker 4: that next contract and they're gonna be like, well, really,
- 9:18Speaker 4: you're kind of a two now. You know, you're not
- 9:20Speaker 4: that guy, You're not that volume guy anymore.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I think he wants out.
- 9:24Speaker 3: But I think he explained it perfectly, Paul in terms
- 9:26Speaker 3: of you know, just the schematics of it, Like when
- 9:29Speaker 3: you look at how teams play that Seattle offense, like
- 9:32Speaker 3: everybody plays with the safety over the top of DK,
- 9:35Speaker 3: Like you don't go into the game and not pay
- 9:37Speaker 3: extra attention to him. So now the middle of the
- 9:39Speaker 3: field for Jackson Smith and Jigba is just wide open
- 9:41Speaker 3: for him to just.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Has good He's just a product.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Oh but I think you're right.
- 9:46Speaker 3: But I think that that's why, you know, to deuce
- 9:48Speaker 3: his point, like that's why these guys are so valuable
- 9:50Speaker 3: is because it's this the whole trickle down of you know, Okay,
- 9:54Speaker 3: we have to put our number one guy on DK,
- 9:57Speaker 3: and then we have to put a safety over the
- 9:59Speaker 3: top of his side of the field, and now you know,
- 10:01Speaker 3: the guys over here are all one on one in
- 10:03Speaker 3: the entire game. And you know, that's how you sort
- 10:06Speaker 3: of have the proper hierarchy. And I think that that's
- 10:09Speaker 3: what everybody's so enthralled with with all these receivers that
- 10:11Speaker 3: become available as having that coverage dictating you know, Tuesday player,
- 10:16Speaker 3: and if you don't have that guy, then it just
- 10:18Speaker 3: makes it so much easier to defend the offense, and
- 10:21Speaker 3: like the Patriots have just been in that spot really
- 10:24Speaker 3: since Edelman started to fade like that, Like really we've
- 10:27Speaker 3: been waiting that long for it. So I can understand
- 10:30Speaker 3: why everybody's clamoring for everyone. But to me, I just
- 10:34Speaker 3: I feel like every single receiver that comes available that's
- 10:37Speaker 3: over the age of thirty just doesn't really make a
- 10:39Speaker 3: whole lot of sense for where the Patriots are at.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Maybe as like Plan BCD. You know, if you don't
- 10:45Speaker 3: get the guy, that's Plan A, but you know, you're
- 10:48Speaker 3: trying to get somebody in here that can grow with
- 10:51Speaker 3: Drake May and it's going to have a couple of
- 10:53Speaker 3: years at least a runway like Stefan Diggs with Josh Allen.
- 10:56Speaker 3: You don't want this guy just to come in because
- 10:58Speaker 3: he's a name, because DeVante Adams is a is a
- 11:01Speaker 3: name that you know, you need to have somebody that's
- 11:03Speaker 3: gonna build here for a little while.
- 11:05Speaker 5: Let me jump on the other side of the street
- 11:06Speaker 5: though for a second and just say, because I do
- 11:08Speaker 5: think there's some value for like let's jumpstart this thing,
- 11:10Speaker 5: like let's get a talent, like you know what I mean.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Like that's my argument for like a DeVante Adams is
- 11:14Speaker 5: like we got to get some energy going. We got
- 11:16Speaker 5: to get something going now, Like we can't necessarily wait
- 11:20Speaker 5: for a third round rookie to develop and all right,
- 11:22Speaker 5: yeah they were better this year, but they got they
- 11:24Speaker 5: got the five wins ors, you know something like that,
- 11:26Speaker 5: like let's give it and really kind of find out
- 11:28Speaker 5: what we need. Yeah, I mean, like I said, I go,
- 11:31Speaker 5: I go back and forth. I just don't want to
- 11:33Speaker 5: love any single receiver that comes available, yep, him, Like
- 11:36Speaker 5: I try to have a little bit of nuance and
- 11:39Speaker 5: understanding of who the guys actually are and how would
- 11:41Speaker 5: they fit rather than just anyone who's.
- 11:44Speaker 2: There's something. It's almost like our discussion about buying clothes, Paul,
- 11:49Speaker 2: when when the guys, the guys that become available, there's
- 11:54Speaker 2: something irregular. There's like a stain somewhere, or the zipper
- 11:57Speaker 2: doesn't work. There's they're not the Marsian agents.
- 12:01Speaker 4: The left pocket you can't actually put anything in the pocket.
- 12:04Speaker 2: It the reason why they're available, Like, look, mom, it's
- 12:07Speaker 2: a DeVante Addams.
- 12:08Speaker 5: She's like one pants shorter than the other.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Unless it's just actually unless the pure I hate my
- 12:15Speaker 2: team thing and the player is great, but then you know,
- 12:19Speaker 2: what's the guarantees not gonna hate you.
- 12:22Speaker 4: So I agree with you guys all around, and I'm
- 12:26Speaker 4: where I would slightly differ from Evan. They need a
- 12:30Speaker 4: top dog, and the top dog can't.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Be like thirty three one. You know, I don't.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Talk in those terms, as you know, neither do other
- 12:39Speaker 4: grown adults. But when you have when you have that
- 12:45Speaker 4: one guy that's sort of you know, has Evan explained
- 12:48Speaker 4: with Metcalf, you know, occupying the safety over the top
- 12:51Speaker 4: and all the other stuff x'es and o'se wise, that's
- 12:54Speaker 4: when I want to fill in with a Locket or
- 12:56Speaker 4: a Cup. I don't want to sign Tyler Lockett to
- 12:59Speaker 4: a three year deal and say there you go, Drake,
- 13:03Speaker 4: we got your receiver. No, that's not enough. It's not
- 13:06Speaker 4: nearly enough. But I like the profile of Lockett and
- 13:09Speaker 4: Cup in particular, those two guys to fix that room,
- 13:14Speaker 4: to offer some maturity and professionalism to the wide receiver
- 13:17Speaker 4: room that I think lacks is lacking big time. I
- 13:20Speaker 4: think there's some maturity there. But again, I'm not asking
- 13:23Speaker 4: Cooper Cup to win the Triple Crown like he did
- 13:26Speaker 4: three or four years ago. I'm asking him to come
- 13:28Speaker 4: in and catch sixty balls and be a mentor to
- 13:32Speaker 4: these young guys and help them out. Well, I don't
- 13:35Speaker 4: know who the answer is because it was T Higgins,
- 13:37Speaker 4: and I don't really think there's anybody.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Else that at that level.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Is the guy that's really gonna give the runway as
- 13:45Speaker 4: Evan said with or maybe you said with Steph Diggs
- 13:48Speaker 4: and Josh Allen their runway of five years AJ Brown.
- 13:53Speaker 4: You know, I'll take that as the guy who's gonna
- 13:56Speaker 4: be the with all the pressure on him.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Yeah, we were talking yesterday on catch two by something
- 14:00Speaker 3: that Vrabel said at the combine, which is that you
- 14:03Speaker 3: know a lot of the time you have to draft
- 14:04Speaker 3: your own when it comes to this position because they're
- 14:07Speaker 3: not just walking down the street, I think is what
- 14:09Speaker 3: he said. And you know, not just available and uh,
- 14:12Speaker 3: with not really a consensus at the four over fourth
- 14:15Speaker 3: overall pick, is Ted McMillan a real possibility there because
- 14:20Speaker 3: that's your own guy. Like to deuce his point like
- 14:22Speaker 3: you're you might not be you know, Jamar Chase in
- 14:25Speaker 3: terms of the level of prospect, but that's your own
- 14:28Speaker 3: guy that's going to be on a rookie contract that
- 14:30Speaker 3: you're gonna have five years of team control with and
- 14:33Speaker 3: you're not gonna have to trade a boatload, you know,
- 14:35Speaker 3: to get him, or pay him thirty million dollars to
- 14:38Speaker 3: get him or whatever, or outbid you know, eight other
- 14:41Speaker 3: teams in free agency to get him. So it's it's
- 14:45Speaker 3: a little bit enticing to me to to pivot to that.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Now that we know Will Campbell has you know, t
- 14:50Speaker 3: Rex Arms and Mason Graham's two hundred and ninety five pounds,
- 14:54Speaker 3: It's it's not a bad idea to pivot to that
- 14:56Speaker 3: because of the value of the of the player, you know,
- 15:00Speaker 3: the position that he plays. I'm just wondering if maybe
- 15:03Speaker 3: they have to go that route again, because I don't
- 15:05Speaker 3: know if they're going to be the bell of the
- 15:07Speaker 3: ball to draw DK Metcalf, Like he's gonna want to
- 15:10Speaker 3: go to Kansas City or whatever.
- 15:13Speaker 7: Not a desirable place, he.
- 15:15Speaker 4: Said, Massachusetts, Massachusetts.
- 15:17Speaker 5: She would never date you, bro, forget it.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but we could get him a place in Providence
- 15:21Speaker 3: or but if he.
- 15:22Speaker 8: Lives in Rhode Island, he's still employed in Massachusetts.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't This is my point, Like you, we're
- 15:30Speaker 3: all clamoring by that guy.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Says they want a first in.
- 15:33Speaker 4: The third form, understanding they're not going to get a
- 15:35Speaker 4: first in the third form.
- 15:36Speaker 2: They're not.
- 15:36Speaker 4: You're not just going to get him for nothing.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Right, right, And I'm not going to give him away
- 15:40Speaker 3: get that guy yet, Like, I don't know if that
- 15:42Speaker 3: guy wants to come here, so you might have to
- 15:44Speaker 3: draft your own guy and then develop him.
- 15:47Speaker 2: But let's let's just say, let's just say somebody like
- 15:50Speaker 2: Jamar Chase was available, in my opinion, the Patriots would
- 15:54Speaker 2: have to do whatever it takes to get him.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Here, right, But he doesn't. You know, a guy like
- 15:58Speaker 3: Jamar Chase is in d K Metcalf, you know, similar
- 16:01Speaker 3: but different level of players, No, totally different level of player.
- 16:05Speaker 3: But like they both need contracts and they don't need
- 16:08Speaker 3: to sign the contract with you. So if you're giving
- 16:11Speaker 3: up a package of picks to go get that player,
- 16:14Speaker 3: then there's nothing telling that player that you have to
- 16:17Speaker 3: be here long term and you're not going to make
- 16:19Speaker 3: that trade without that, sure.
- 16:20Speaker 2: And if that's the case, don't Isn't that kind of
- 16:22Speaker 2: ironed out before the transaction is made? Right?
- 16:24Speaker 3: But you get Brandon said no, thanks.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Brand and I you wouldn't even pick up the phone. Right, Okay,
- 16:31Speaker 2: so what's different?
- 16:32Speaker 3: But what's convincing them to pick up the phone now?
- 16:34Speaker 2: No, But I'm just saying, if you get to that
- 16:36Speaker 2: point before he gets here, you have a deal. You
- 16:39Speaker 2: have the terms of a deal already in place, agreed.
- 16:42Speaker 2: You don't put yourself out there like.
- 16:43Speaker 3: That, agreed. But what happens, like I don't know if
- 16:46Speaker 3: any of these guys, like I don't know if DK
- 16:48Speaker 3: Metcalf is going to agree to an extension with the
- 16:50Speaker 3: Patriots and right, so then you don't get DK right, your.
- 16:56Speaker 8: Right, and he's a guy like why do you want
- 16:57Speaker 8: to bring someone here that's publicly made comments.
- 17:00Speaker 7: That they're not interested?
- 17:02Speaker 8: You know, even if you don't want to be here,
- 17:04Speaker 8: I'd rather go with someone that doesn't want to be here,
- 17:06Speaker 8: that hasn't said it.
- 17:07Speaker 9: Public takes it all very personally, I do.
- 17:10Speaker 2: That's a valid point.
- 17:13Speaker 7: But in the past, Seattle better.
- 17:17Speaker 2: In the past, when the Patriots had a culture in place,
- 17:19Speaker 2: a winning culture with veterans, are you could bring in
- 17:22Speaker 2: a guy like Corey Dillon who was disgruntled.
- 17:25Speaker 7: Randy Brandy Moss who you know.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Was disgruntled, and and you knew that you'd be able
- 17:31Speaker 2: to take care of that, at least for a certain
- 17:32Speaker 2: amount of time. But now that's not a given. That's
- 17:36Speaker 2: not a given. We haven't established a locker room that
- 17:39Speaker 2: can absorb that type of player, you know, at least
- 17:42Speaker 2: that we know. I agree, that's what makes it harder.
- 17:45Speaker 5: Winning sells everything, you know, and that's I think just.
- 17:49Speaker 4: But it's like the whole thing with Brandon Nyuk. You know,
- 17:51Speaker 4: I heard a little talk about this this morning on
- 17:53Speaker 4: my show is Freddy. So, yeah, last year there was
- 17:58Speaker 4: reports out there the Patriots had a very strong, aggressive offer,
- 18:01Speaker 4: some called it the best offer to Brandon Ayuk. They
- 18:05Speaker 4: had a deal with San Francisco to bring him here.
- 18:08Speaker 4: I think it was like a second, second, and fourth
- 18:10Speaker 4: and born, you know, and a contract that was going
- 18:14Speaker 4: to be more lucrative than the one he ended up
- 18:16Speaker 4: signing with San Francisco. And Auk was so not on
- 18:20Speaker 4: board with that that he wouldn't even talk to the.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Patriots literally, right.
- 18:24Speaker 4: So now a year goes by and San Francisco was
- 18:28Speaker 4: evidently given a Yuka, you know, permission to seek a trade.
- 18:33Speaker 4: And I'm supposed to believe that everything, Oh I know,
- 18:36Speaker 4: I didn't pick up the phone last year to talk to.
- 18:38Speaker 4: Is it just because it was Girod Mayo? That like
- 18:40Speaker 4: that's the magic, Like Girod Mayo was gone and that he.
- 18:43Speaker 7: It was Drake starting at nothing to do with Mayo.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Like he didn't even sure, he didn't really even know
- 18:48Speaker 4: Gerrod Mayo. So like, unless you're telling me he has,
- 18:52Speaker 4: you know, some relationship with Mike Rabel.
- 18:54Speaker 2: A West Coast thing, that's more likely Fred.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Quarterback. It was the uncertainty in New England that quarterback and.
- 19:03Speaker 7: Drake hadn't played yet.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Everybody is, you know, very high on Drake may But
- 19:08Speaker 3: I don't. It's not like he's going you know a
- 19:10Speaker 3: couple of other places that have been thrown out, you know,
- 19:12Speaker 3: it's not like he's going to Green Bay to play
- 19:14Speaker 3: with a guy like Jordan Love who is sort of
- 19:16Speaker 3: a made man already, or you know, you know one
- 19:18Speaker 3: of those types of places.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Like I think it's.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Very far fetched to think that ten months later, are
- 19:24Speaker 4: you excited to come? Mentality is just completely changed. And
- 19:27Speaker 4: Alex's point of you're chasing after these people that already
- 19:30Speaker 4: told you No, now we're back, we're.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Back in my high school.
- 19:37Speaker 8: No, it's a really good dating analogy like the relationship
- 19:40Speaker 8: is controlled by the person who cares the least always.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Wow, exactly, exactly, a very sixth way of putting its.
- 19:51Speaker 5: We had some dating talk yesterday earlier today, and the
- 19:53Speaker 5: I think that's where this is carrying over for that
- 19:55Speaker 5: that's a sad fact talking about oh, just a bad dates,
- 19:59Speaker 5: sending so os signals to.
- 20:00Speaker 8: Friends, make your friends emergencies.
- 20:04Speaker 7: But it's out a lot of a situation.
- 20:07Speaker 2: I forgot my wallets, so sugar like that commercial.
- 20:13Speaker 5: Yeah, it's uh no, it's so different now for for
- 20:16Speaker 5: these poor.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Guys, competitive air drumming texts.
- 20:18Speaker 5: And and swipe left and swipe right and all that
- 20:21Speaker 5: stuff like this just didn't exist. Like you.
- 20:26Speaker 8: It's like you go on like four dates and you're
- 20:28Speaker 8: like are you dating? And you're like, no, we're talking.
- 20:30Speaker 8: But it's like you're actively going on dates. Isn't that dating?
- 20:33Speaker 2: I get that we're talking about dating.
- 20:38Speaker 5: Remember, you get to like we're going out? Are we
- 20:39Speaker 5: going out? Are we going steady? So?
- 20:41Speaker 7: What are we?
- 20:42Speaker 5: Yeah? It's complicated.
- 20:43Speaker 2: We need we have to put labels on it.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Nobody wants that conversation.
- 20:46Speaker 4: No one wants labels.
- 20:48Speaker 7: Danny Ainge tried to do it with Kyrie, and then you.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Know, Jeremiah writes in about Joe Tuney Patriots rejecting Kansas
- 20:56Speaker 2: City's uh fourth for Tuny. I don't know, did that happened? No,
- 21:01Speaker 2: But are you surprised that the Patriots weren't in that thing?
- 21:08Speaker 1: No?
- 21:08Speaker 5: I mean I personally, I was just more surprised that
- 21:10Speaker 5: Kansas City moved on. But I thought I had great
- 21:11Speaker 5: conversation with Paul yesterday about kind of similar to what
- 21:14Speaker 5: happened with Tuny and Mason with the Patriots.
- 21:16Speaker 4: It's amazing to me the similarities between what Kansas City
- 21:19Speaker 4: is in the middle of and what the Patriots did,
- 21:22Speaker 4: Like just in general, like the it's easy to count
- 21:25Speaker 4: the wins and the playoff wins and the Super Bowl
- 21:27Speaker 4: appearances and all that stuff, and see that Kansas City
- 21:30Speaker 4: is sort of halfway, but they do things very similar way.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Just go back and look at it. They extended Shack
- 21:38Speaker 4: Mason to a big deal to play right guard. Then
- 21:42Speaker 4: the next year they had to franchise Joe Tuney, So
- 21:46Speaker 4: in order to do that and pay him, they had
- 21:48Speaker 4: to then trade Shack Mason. And it's exactly what just
- 21:52Speaker 4: happened with the Chiefs. They signed Joe Tuney to a
- 21:56Speaker 4: big free agent deal, then they had to franchise Trace
- 22:00Speaker 4: in order to do that. They're now trading Joe Toney.
- 22:04Speaker 4: It's exactly what happened with the Patriots, and frankly, I
- 22:08Speaker 4: don't understand it. Like we just spent twenty minutes talking
- 22:12Speaker 4: about how the salary cap might make, As Fred said,
- 22:16Speaker 4: free agency look a whole lot different. The landscape of
- 22:19Speaker 4: free agency as we know it might change because this
- 22:22Speaker 4: ever growing salary cap and the best team in football
- 22:25Speaker 4: over the last five years evidently can't rub two nickels
- 22:28Speaker 4: together to pay two good offensive linemen. It's absurd. It's absurd.
- 22:32Speaker 4: They have plenty of room in the cap. It's all
- 22:35Speaker 4: about money, I would imagine.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Well, it's money and value. They just don't think it's worth.
- 22:40Speaker 4: It, right because they don't want to pay him right right,
- 22:43Speaker 4: They don't want to play. They don't want to pay
- 22:45Speaker 4: a guy who's arguably the best in the league of disposition.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Well maybe they don't think he is anymore.
- 22:49Speaker 4: I don't know, but he is, like I don't care,
- 22:51Speaker 4: Like they can tell you they don't think he's that good,
- 22:53Speaker 4: but he is like he is one of what the
- 22:55Speaker 4: five best guards in football? Is that too strong?
- 22:58Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. I don't have my
- 23:01Speaker 2: list of Yeah.
- 23:01Speaker 3: No, I mean he's an All Pro.
- 23:03Speaker 4: But I mean you just got to say what it is.
- 23:04Speaker 4: It's cheap, right, but our hunt is cheap enough.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I would assume that they would want to pay a
- 23:10Speaker 3: tackle in free agency, and Patrick Mahomes is gonna want
- 23:13Speaker 3: a receiver as well, and so they're just allocating the
- 23:17Speaker 3: resources in a different direction. And I commend him for
- 23:20Speaker 3: I think it is exactly what Bill would have done.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Like guards not a position of value. We're not gonna
- 23:25Speaker 3: have forty million dollars tied up in guards. We're gonna
- 23:28Speaker 3: release this guy that's a little bit older and we're
- 23:31Speaker 3: having to keep it.
- 23:31Speaker 4: You have to be content that you're not going to
- 23:33Speaker 4: be as good. But that's exactly what happened a Patriots.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Of course, it's being cheap. You have the money to
- 23:40Speaker 4: pay if you want it.
- 23:41Speaker 2: No, but they like, like.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Why can't you do it everything? Evan just said, have.
- 23:45Speaker 2: The money, but they're gonna spend it elsewhere.
- 23:48Speaker 4: But they can spend more, they're choosing not to. Well
- 23:53Speaker 4: everything every just said that they should be looking for
- 23:56Speaker 4: a better receiver, stop doing this to Mahomes a better tackle.
- 24:00Speaker 2: If they end up breaking the bank for tackle and
- 24:03Speaker 2: receiver and maybe something else and.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Having a lesser player play in another spot, I don't
- 24:07Speaker 4: think that's right.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Maybe they think they can. They created a hole. Yeah,
- 24:10Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know.
- 24:12Speaker 4: That's all I'm saying.
- 24:14Speaker 3: But it's so much easier to replace the guard like that,
- 24:17Speaker 3: and they'll replace the guard.
- 24:18Speaker 4: It's a different fundamental argument. They should have never put
- 24:20Speaker 4: themselves in the Belichick should have never had Tony and
- 24:23Speaker 4: Mason among the top five highest paid players on his team.
- 24:27Speaker 4: It's absurd again, like paying two guards that much money.
- 24:31Speaker 4: And I would say the same thing with Kansas City,
- 24:34Speaker 4: but you have to players playing at a high level.
- 24:37Speaker 3: But when you have the money, But they probably look
- 24:39Speaker 3: at it though, is like we'd rather have the tackle
- 24:42Speaker 3: that's going to play it, But you can have both.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I don't think that's true.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Of course, you if they amount of money like you,
- 24:52Speaker 3: and that's the Eagles do it.
- 24:57Speaker 2: The Chiefs have opted not to u Anthony writes, and
- 25:01Speaker 2: you guys and everyone else he says in parentheses, are
- 25:04Speaker 2: mentioning DK Metcalf saying mass isn't a desirable destination. Do
- 25:08Speaker 2: we not remember when Juju hated the Patriots and the
- 25:11Speaker 2: fans during his time in Pittsburgh. He was very public
- 25:13Speaker 2: about it. Yet he came here with no issue. Now, granted,
- 25:16Speaker 2: Juju and DK were at two completely points of their careers.
- 25:20Speaker 2: What is the lesson learned from this money talks?
- 25:23Speaker 4: I don't remember that with Juju, but I'll take your worder.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I mean, everybody in Pittsburgh hated us.
- 25:28Speaker 4: James Harrison came here, but I don't remember him saying
- 25:31Speaker 4: I again, I didn't say that.
- 25:32Speaker 2: He didn't say it.
- 25:33Speaker 4: I don't remember him publicly saying I hate Massachusetts.
- 25:36Speaker 2: You know the Patriots.
- 25:37Speaker 3: He said, well guess he was on a rival team
- 25:39Speaker 3: of the Patriots.
- 25:41Speaker 2: But yeah, that's what I mean. James Harrison came.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Here, there was two things aren't the same, and this
- 25:44Speaker 4: is why he said Massachusetts.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Ya Massachusetts. Juju did not.
- 25:50Speaker 3: So.
- 25:51Speaker 4: In other words, I don't think DK is interested in
- 25:54Speaker 4: it has nothing to do with the Patriots.
- 25:55Speaker 8: Went as far as transition, it's not desire to me.
- 26:00Speaker 4: But you can't change that part of it. Whereas Juju
- 26:04Speaker 4: could say, yeah, it was it was sports.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Hate, right. I'm want the Sailers exactly.
- 26:08Speaker 4: I can but change that. You're in the Northeast, and
- 26:11Speaker 4: I don't want to go to the Northeast because that's
- 26:14Speaker 4: the way I look at what.
- 26:15Speaker 5: I love to just live in Cleveland or Detroit. That
- 26:17Speaker 5: would be great. Those are great places to live.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Why see, why are those are the options? Why couldn't
- 26:21Speaker 4: it be he wants to go to like Miami or Tampa.
- 26:24Speaker 5: Well, I'm just pointing out Arizona point. That's the point
- 26:28Speaker 5: of making.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Those teams are bad too.
- 26:31Speaker 4: But they're in nice weather places, which is what I
- 26:33Speaker 4: think he's probably getting.
- 26:35Speaker 3: I get it.
- 26:36Speaker 5: They all want to go to Miami and go to
- 26:37Speaker 5: my you know, like that's that's fine.
- 26:39Speaker 2: I just don't. I don't, do you hear? Do you
- 26:41Speaker 2: hear it? Tone?
- 26:42Speaker 5: No, I do because I don't.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Want to go to the n play today.
- 26:46Speaker 4: I have some things later. Oh this isn't fire yet.
- 26:50Speaker 2: This is just like.
- 26:53Speaker 4: Half of the show cheap cheap slash cap talk irritates me,
- 26:57Speaker 4: as you know, Oh yeah, yeah, so that's that's what thing.
- 27:01Speaker 4: I have some things later on about the wide receivers
- 27:04Speaker 4: and the different things that are starting to crawl up.
- 27:07Speaker 5: It's just coming from a place of hunger.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Probably like straw Man's arguments with these wide receivers right
- 27:14Speaker 3: now that I'm hearing on his shows.
- 27:17Speaker 4: It really drives me like people.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Are saying these things that like, oh, Deebo Samuel like
- 27:22Speaker 3: was out of shape and that's why the Patriots didn't
- 27:24Speaker 3: want him.
- 27:24Speaker 4: No, it's not a straw Man. That's what they were
- 27:26Speaker 4: told by whom. There was like three exposs of combine
- 27:32Speaker 4: tidbits over the weekend. One was mass Live, one was
- 27:34Speaker 4: the Hero.
- 27:34Speaker 3: They said, Debo is too fat to play for the Patriots.
- 27:37Speaker 4: Not a fit, not a fit, out of shape. I
- 27:40Speaker 4: don't know where I read it, but I read it.
- 27:42Speaker 4: I read it in one of those those things are
- 27:44Speaker 4: really crawling up myself.
- 27:45Speaker 2: I didn't read.
- 27:45Speaker 4: So let's just say he's not a fit and then
- 27:47Speaker 4: forget about the fat thing. Let's just say he's not
- 27:50Speaker 4: a fit. But I'll get I'll get my fire out,
- 27:52Speaker 4: all right, let's go because I like this one in
- 27:54Speaker 4: particular because I know how you feel Fred about the player. Okay,
- 28:00Speaker 4: so if you don't like Deebo Samuel right now because
- 28:03Speaker 4: you think he's past his prime, that's where I would fall.
- 28:05Speaker 4: I am not upset whatsoever the Patriots did get totally
- 28:08Speaker 4: because I think he's done. What did the kids say,
- 28:11Speaker 4: He's washed, cashed washed.
- 28:15Speaker 7: You're teaching me.
- 28:16Speaker 4: All right, I kind of think that's true. I think
- 28:19Speaker 4: there's a lot of wear and tear. I wouldn't necessarily
- 28:21Speaker 4: be interested in getting him. However, his skill set is
- 28:25Speaker 4: his skill set. I want to know what about Deebo
- 28:30Speaker 4: Samuel's skill set. A guy who can operate out of
- 28:33Speaker 4: the backfield, run as a ball carrier, catches a ton
- 28:36Speaker 4: of screens with yards have to catch, is very hard
- 28:39Speaker 4: to tackle, has the straight line speed still to make
- 28:42Speaker 4: plays down the field, and isn't an incredible yak machine.
- 28:47Speaker 4: He's a football to the point in twenty twenty one
- 28:49Speaker 4: he was arguably the best player in football. That's why
- 28:51Speaker 4: I look, what about that skill set doesn't fit with
- 28:55Speaker 4: what you're doing on offense.
- 28:56Speaker 3: A little bit of a little bit of John H.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Smith to him, where like you have to make manufacturer
- 29:00Speaker 3: touches right, like you have to find ways to scheme
- 29:03Speaker 3: him open. I'm telling you that you have to be
- 29:06Speaker 3: creative with Debo. And he's not one of those guys
- 29:09Speaker 3: that you are just gonna put into an offense and
- 29:12Speaker 3: say you're the Z and here's your route tree, and
- 29:15Speaker 3: this is what you're gonna do, and you're gonna be great.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Josh McDaniels' offense typically is not great with those types
- 29:23Speaker 3: of players, and I think the one that we go
- 29:25Speaker 3: back to all the time is Johnny Smith, who is
- 29:28Speaker 3: not exactly the same one for one type of player.
- 29:31Speaker 3: But again, you had to have like a creative plan
- 29:34Speaker 3: of how exactly are we going to get this guy
- 29:36Speaker 3: the ball? And twenty one they kind of forced it right,
- 29:39Speaker 3: like they kept on throwing him screens and things like
- 29:42Speaker 3: that to just try to make it happen, and it
- 29:44Speaker 3: just wasn't popping here in New England. Then he goes
- 29:47Speaker 3: to Miami and has a huge year with the Dolphins
- 29:49Speaker 3: last year because they're in this West Coast offense and he's,
- 29:52Speaker 3: you know, doing all these moving pockets and things like that,
- 29:55Speaker 3: and it's just different. It's just a different type of offense.
- 29:57Speaker 3: So I think with Debo there was some concern about
- 30:00Speaker 3: that element that, you know, giving Josh McDaniels another scheme
- 30:04Speaker 3: touch player.
- 30:05Speaker 4: And I would argue you have a problem with your offense.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yeah, if you can't take advantage if you can't take it.
- 30:11Speaker 4: I'm not talking John Neu Smith, who's a pimple on
- 30:14Speaker 4: Deebo Samuel's backside. Okay, Deebo Samuel in twenty twenty one
- 30:20Speaker 4: was one of the three best players in football.
- 30:23Speaker 2: If you can't fit.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Him into your offense, your offense is the problem, not
- 30:27Speaker 4: debuilt Deebo Samuel. And this is why again I wanted
- 30:30Speaker 4: to do this with you, Fred, because I know what
- 30:32Speaker 4: you think of Samuel and is.
- 30:33Speaker 2: My favorite player.
- 30:34Speaker 4: Again, I'm not upset that they don't have Deebo Samuel.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Now.
- 30:37Speaker 4: I think he's done.
- 30:38Speaker 2: I think he's.
- 30:39Speaker 4: He'll still be productive. He can still have like probably
- 30:42Speaker 4: some eight hundred yard seasons and be good. I think
- 30:45Speaker 4: he'd be value add with the Patriots right now, but
- 30:48Speaker 4: he's not prime to I think his best days are
- 30:51Speaker 4: behind him for the Commanders. Yeah, because I think that
- 30:57Speaker 4: that's a lot of the stuff that Washington does, a
- 30:58Speaker 4: lot of RPOs, a lot of hits. I think that
- 31:01Speaker 4: get the ball to that guy in space and he
- 31:03Speaker 4: makes place.
- 31:03Speaker 5: And you got Terry McLaurin already too.
- 31:05Speaker 4: But I don't like the idea of an offense that
- 31:10Speaker 4: can't use a guy like that, and that drives me insane.
- 31:13Speaker 3: I'm not saying they can't use that, it's just say no,
- 31:17Speaker 3: I know, but I'm not like saying that that line
- 31:19Speaker 3: of thinking is that they couldn't use him. I just
- 31:22Speaker 3: think that there's better guys that fit the offense better
- 31:26Speaker 3: than that. And if you're gonna pay, if that's gonna
- 31:29Speaker 3: be your splash and that's gonna be your move, then
- 31:32Speaker 3: you would like it to be a little bit better about.
- 31:34Speaker 2: On the other hand, like on the radio this morning
- 31:36Speaker 2: on one of Paul's shows, I heard one of Evans
- 31:40Speaker 2: guys like Daniels talking about DK Metcalf and saying that
- 31:46Speaker 2: he's not a fit. He may not be a fit
- 31:49Speaker 2: in Josh McDaniel's offense because he's not a good route run.
- 31:52Speaker 2: That's different.
- 31:52Speaker 4: This is all part of my thing.
- 31:54Speaker 2: No, but that's different. If you can't run good routes,
- 31:56Speaker 2: I can understand that. You know, if you're just a
- 31:59Speaker 2: straight you got problems.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Your offense is fuawed if it can't, you know, sort
- 32:03Speaker 4: of welcome different types of players with different skill sets.
- 32:06Speaker 3: I don't worry about that with DK because I think
- 32:09Speaker 3: that they've had enough guys you know, obviously like Randy
- 32:11Speaker 3: Moss is like the apex of it, but like even
- 32:14Speaker 3: Brandon Cooks, you know that that that they've used like
- 32:17Speaker 3: that as a true deep threat that Josh McDaniels has
- 32:20Speaker 3: worked with already. So I mean, he's not Randy Moss,
- 32:24Speaker 3: but like, can he run similar routes to Randy Moss?
- 32:27Speaker 4: And yeah, absolutely, I'm starting to figure out why they've
- 32:32Speaker 4: had such a hard time finding wide receivers because there's
- 32:36Speaker 4: like three that check every box that they want.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Right, They're too specific and that's.
- 32:41Speaker 4: A problem and it's why I kind of wanted to change.
- 32:44Speaker 2: It could be, it could be, And as I.
- 32:46Speaker 4: Came up with yesterday, I came up with an andyism
- 32:48Speaker 4: on the fly by you know, by accident. It was like,
- 32:52Speaker 4: until they change, things aren't going to change.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Right, Well, that's true, my brother goes that's really deep.
- 32:56Speaker 2: But maybe you know, Josh's year away and visiting you know,
- 33:00Speaker 2: different teams than the college in college football maybe helps them.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I don't know, but like I do think they need
- 33:07Speaker 2: to be more.
- 33:07Speaker 4: But Evan's right, this is what you're hearing from a
- 33:09Speaker 4: lot of these guys, Like this guy's not a fit
- 33:12Speaker 4: because he's not a good route runner. This guy's not
- 33:14Speaker 4: a fix because he doesn't work well in the system.
- 33:15Speaker 4: This guy like it's like one excuse after another as
- 33:18Speaker 4: to why. And again I'm not advocating for any of
- 33:20Speaker 4: these individuals, but none of these guys, all these guys
- 33:24Speaker 4: that have had success in the NFL, none of these
- 33:25Speaker 4: guys would work well in Josh McDaniels' offense.
- 33:28Speaker 5: And how does he feel about the guys on the
- 33:30Speaker 5: roster right now though all those guys do fit or
- 33:32Speaker 5: there may be some moves.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Coming out evidently Javon Bakers, they according to all of
- 33:37Speaker 4: the anonymous sources.
- 33:38Speaker 5: I think that's what's interesting to me over the next
- 33:40Speaker 5: week and a half that's going to happen is, you know,
- 33:42Speaker 5: I don't know if anybody's gonna leave, but how do
- 33:44Speaker 5: they address that room? What I mean, we've all been
- 33:46Speaker 5: talking about it that we feel like they need at
- 33:47Speaker 5: least leadership, which isn't even one of these football traits
- 33:50Speaker 5: that you're talking about, Paul, But what are the football
- 33:52Speaker 5: traits of some of the guys that they do go inside?
- 33:54Speaker 4: And I do believe some of these you know, I
- 33:57Speaker 4: know they're all from unnamed sources and whatnot. But because
- 33:59Speaker 4: I I go back and I think when DK Metcalf
- 34:03Speaker 4: was coming out, my buddy Lombardi trashed him Kaneil Harry
- 34:08Speaker 4: and talked about how you're an idiot if you don't
- 34:10Speaker 4: think Kneil Harry is a better player than DK Metcalf,
- 34:13Speaker 4: if you recall, because Kneil can run all the rout
- 34:17Speaker 4: tree and DK Metcalf can only run in a straight line.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Two left feet. Yeah, DK coming out had the injuries.
- 34:24Speaker 3: He had like a neck back like grunk, like college injury.
- 34:29Speaker 3: And but I mean he was the best receiver in
- 34:31Speaker 3: his class, like just off of the tape, but he
- 34:34Speaker 3: had a lot of injury stuff. And then he showed
- 34:36Speaker 3: up to his combine meetings without a shirt on, and
- 34:38Speaker 3: that like rubbed some people the wrong way, and so
- 34:40Speaker 3: there was wrong. There's some things going on now. Pete
- 34:43Speaker 3: Carroll loved it clearly, but to the.
- 34:46Speaker 4: Point where people are saying he's probably gonna go to
- 34:48Speaker 4: the race.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Yeah, p Carroll, I think took his own shirt off
- 34:50Speaker 3: to be on. I remember DK, but yeah, I mean
- 34:56Speaker 3: that everyone over thought DK.
- 34:59Speaker 4: And so the long story of this is for me
- 35:02Speaker 4: is like I guess Mike you're growing frustrated at like
- 35:05Speaker 4: being held hostage by the wide receiver. I'm growing frustrated
- 35:09Speaker 4: as like no one's good enough to play wide receiver
- 35:11Speaker 4: for the Patriots. Like I'm just getting sort of annoyed
- 35:14Speaker 4: by that, Like why can't the Patriots have one of
- 35:17Speaker 4: these shiny.
- 35:17Speaker 2: And toys to I think, And I'd be surprised myself
- 35:22Speaker 2: if Josh McDaniels isn't, you know, becoming a little bit
- 35:26Speaker 2: more flexible in who he wants, because now you have
- 35:28Speaker 2: a different quarterback than you had.
- 35:30Speaker 5: In the past.
- 35:31Speaker 2: This is a guy who you know you can do
- 35:33Speaker 2: things with. He's going to throw off platform as.
- 35:36Speaker 4: The ball no bigger part of my worry and not off.
- 35:39Speaker 2: You know, and extend plays. And so now you need
- 35:41Speaker 2: guys who can adjust to that. And so I hope
- 35:45Speaker 2: that McDaniels has taken and I can't imagine he's not.
- 35:49Speaker 2: He's a smart guy.
- 35:50Speaker 5: How much influence do you think the head coach has
- 35:52Speaker 5: on that with Josh versus you know, Bill versus Vabel
- 35:55Speaker 5: in terms of this is what I want? You know,
- 35:58Speaker 5: is it all just kind of Josh baking and saying
- 36:00Speaker 5: this is how the offense is gonna run or is
- 36:02Speaker 5: it you know some of that dictated by the head
- 36:04Speaker 5: coach Bill when he was here. Mike Rabel, Now I
- 36:07Speaker 5: want these style of guys. These are the you know,
- 36:09Speaker 5: this is what I'm looking for. I just I know
- 36:11Speaker 5: that that's probably always a fluid conversation. But I wonder
- 36:14Speaker 5: where I would.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Imagine, you know, Rabel's like, Josh, what are you thinking?
- 36:17Speaker 2: And Josh gives him his plan his blueprint and he
- 36:19Speaker 2: says I agree with that, or yeah, I'm not sure
- 36:22Speaker 2: about line three here, you know, Yeah, I would imagine
- 36:26Speaker 2: that's how it's working because Josh is the Josh is
- 36:29Speaker 2: the offensive expert.
- 36:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I know about how that works, that dynamic.
- 36:34Speaker 3: I don't think that Josh has a ton of it
- 36:36Speaker 3: of saying it, to be honest with you, saying what
- 36:40Speaker 3: in personnel?
- 36:42Speaker 2: What about? But what about the the schematic direction of
- 36:46Speaker 2: the architecture of the offense.
- 36:48Speaker 3: I think it's his offense.
- 36:49Speaker 2: But so then he has to have input in the personnel.
- 36:52Speaker 3: I mean, he wasn't at the combine, he wasn't at
- 36:55Speaker 3: the Senior vill doesn't matter. Like I just don't think
- 36:58Speaker 3: that he's been too involved in all this. I just
- 37:00Speaker 3: don't like I and I'm not, like, I don't know,
- 37:03Speaker 3: I don't know for a fact. I just I don't
- 37:05Speaker 3: think that that's how it's being run. I think that
- 37:07Speaker 3: this is Raabel show, and I think that he has
- 37:10Speaker 3: his types of players that they're going after. You know,
- 37:12Speaker 3: he's talked a lot about basically every single time somebody
- 37:15Speaker 3: asks him about his ideal receiver, he describes Aj Brown right,
- 37:18Speaker 3: like a guy that has true it's got speed, contested, catchability,
- 37:23Speaker 3: great after the catch with the ball in his hands.
- 37:26Speaker 3: His prototypical wide receiver is AJ Brown. So it's not
- 37:31Speaker 3: one of these shifty slot receivers. It's not well, you know,
- 37:34Speaker 3: a Wes Welker Julian Edelman clone.
- 37:36Speaker 4: And I would worry that Josh would say he doesn't
- 37:38Speaker 4: work well off.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Oh, I don't think that's you know, he's he's.
- 37:41Speaker 4: Not really you know, shifty. He's not overly versatile, like
- 37:44Speaker 4: he's gonna be downfield outside like so, so what.
- 37:49Speaker 3: I don't worry too much about that because Josh has
- 37:52Speaker 3: done it with multiple types of receivers throughout his career,
- 37:55Speaker 3: Like he had for every Wes Welker, He's had a
- 37:57Speaker 3: Randy Moss for every Randy Moss he's had a Brandon Cooks.
- 37:59Speaker 3: For every Brandon Cooks, he's had Davonte Adams, he's had
- 38:01Speaker 3: Jakobi Meyer's playing the slot, who's a different type of
- 38:04Speaker 3: player than Edelman and Welker were. Like, they've done it
- 38:07Speaker 3: with different types of receivers. So I'm not like overly
- 38:10Speaker 3: concerned about all of that. I just I do think
- 38:13Speaker 3: that when you're gonna spend that kind of money, and
- 38:15Speaker 3: I think this is something else that Rabel said at
- 38:17Speaker 3: the combine as well, if you are going to pay
- 38:19Speaker 3: a receiver thirty million dollars a year, then he better
- 38:22Speaker 3: fit your offense. Like, don't just pay a guy thirty
- 38:25Speaker 3: million dollars a year because he's a name that everybody
- 38:28Speaker 3: recognized him.
- 38:28Speaker 2: Well, but going back to what Paul says, what you
- 38:31Speaker 2: just said, if you're paying him thirty million dollars, he
- 38:33Speaker 2: better fit your offense. How about if you're paying him
- 38:37Speaker 2: thirty million dollars, you better make something work for him.
- 38:40Speaker 4: And how about when the guys are that good to
- 38:44Speaker 4: just use some of the names that Evan just pointed out,
- 38:47Speaker 4: Randy Moss, DeVante Adams, I don't really care what they're
- 38:51Speaker 4: necessarily there's strengths and weaknesses are in terms of this
- 38:55Speaker 4: skill set, they're so good they're going to succeed no
- 38:57Speaker 4: matter what. Devonte Adams had a thousand yards last year,
- 39:01Speaker 4: and I know that part of that was because Aaron
- 39:03Speaker 4: Rodgers was like making sure that he was getting it.
- 39:06Speaker 4: But he still is that good that even on a
- 39:09Speaker 4: crap team, in a crap year, he's still gonna produce.
- 39:13Speaker 4: You know, Jacoby Myers, that's exactly what they've always done.
- 39:16Speaker 4: Those are the guys that have always been able to succeed,
- 39:18Speaker 4: like those slot guys that you know, he's not little,
- 39:21Speaker 4: but he's a slot guy.
- 39:22Speaker 2: He's a he's but he's not an explosive player.
- 39:26Speaker 4: No, I would say that. I would say he's much
- 39:28Speaker 4: closer to Welker in in Edelman and Amadolt. He's not
- 39:31Speaker 4: as shifty as those guys, but he's much closer to
- 39:33Speaker 4: that than Brandon Cook's. Brandon Cooks was a much different
- 39:37Speaker 4: but again he I'm going to give the credit for
- 39:40Speaker 4: Brandon Cooks working to Brandon Cooks.
- 39:42Speaker 2: He's worked everywhere, everywhere he goes he gets a thousand
- 39:45Speaker 2: yards Mount Cook's top.
- 39:47Speaker 4: I'm going to die on Mount Cooks.
- 39:50Speaker 2: All right, Brandon from lex Vegas and he means Lexington Mass.
- 39:55Speaker 2: I don't know that was the other.
- 39:56Speaker 5: I've only heard mar Vegas.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Yeah, did I miss something? Doesn't Shador to the Giants
- 40:01Speaker 2: was basically a lock. If that is true, and cam
- 40:04Speaker 2: Ward is also now considered a lock to go one
- 40:06Speaker 2: or two, then that would guarantee the Patriots either Abdul
- 40:10Speaker 2: Carter or Travis Hunter. I haven't heard, haven't heard to
- 40:14Speaker 2: the Giants. I've heard as.
- 40:15Speaker 4: Many people say Shador out of the top twenty as
- 40:18Speaker 4: I've heard yeah, people saying that he will go in
- 40:20Speaker 4: the top.
- 40:21Speaker 3: There was a canoodling of sorts at the Shrine Bowl
- 40:26Speaker 3: between Brian Dable and Shador Sanders that and somebody caught
- 40:29Speaker 3: it on iPhone video that went around during Shrine Bowl
- 40:33Speaker 3: time where Brian Dable and Shador were chopping it up
- 40:36Speaker 3: and seemed to be having a grand old time together.
- 40:39Speaker 3: And so then some people took that and said Chaudor
- 40:42Speaker 3: to the Giants. He also there's something with like him
- 40:45Speaker 3: and Malik neighbors during the Heisman ceremony, like they like
- 40:49Speaker 3: met up in New York or something like that at
- 40:52Speaker 3: that point. So there's been some you know, the emailer
- 40:54Speaker 3: is not totally out of left field. Like there's been
- 40:57Speaker 3: some tea leaves to read about that, but recently I
- 41:02Speaker 3: agree with Paul. It's some people think he's not even
- 41:04Speaker 3: a first round pick, and then other people think that
- 41:06Speaker 3: he's going to Overall, it's like kind of all over
- 41:08Speaker 3: the place.
- 41:09Speaker 4: I've seen a lot of stuff with him.
- 41:10Speaker 5: If I had to bet now, I think he's he's
- 41:12Speaker 5: going to go in the first round, though I would
- 41:13Speaker 5: say that's mine in.
- 41:14Speaker 2: The first round.
- 41:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll go in there.
- 41:16Speaker 4: I would probably guess first round. But I do not
- 41:18Speaker 4: think he's going in the top three.
- 41:21Speaker 5: It would be great be here for the Patriots.
- 41:24Speaker 4: I don't think both of those guys are going in
- 41:25Speaker 4: the top three.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Eight five five Pats five hundred is the Patriots unfiltered hotline.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Hot line hot line. Let's go to Deshaun in Virginia.
- 41:36Speaker 2: What's up to Shawn?
- 41:42Speaker 10: I was gonna think that, you know, when it comes
- 41:44Speaker 10: to draft philosophy, if they because they're like trying to, hey, hopothetically,
- 41:49Speaker 10: if this stuff does work, they get DK mack up
- 41:51Speaker 10: with see Higgins within the trade or whatever, and then
- 41:55Speaker 10: of course to the cha target Harrold and they end
- 41:57Speaker 10: up to get that player everything works, Uh, that means
- 42:03Speaker 10: that it will probably make a lot more sense for
- 42:05Speaker 10: them to trade that number four pick, like traded down
- 42:08Speaker 10: to accumulate more if everything works out with in their
- 42:10Speaker 10: favorite as far as trying to get those players.
- 42:12Speaker 5: What you gotta think, Yeah, I agree on hundred percent
- 42:15Speaker 5: with everything he just said.
- 42:17Speaker 2: I don't know what he said any of that.
- 42:22Speaker 10: Repeated real quick.
- 42:23Speaker 4: Yeah, again, trying to follow you that.
- 42:27Speaker 10: What I'm saying is like, say, how pathetically if this
- 42:29Speaker 10: stuff does work like they were able to get DK
- 42:32Speaker 10: metcalf or see Higgins within that trade, say like it
- 42:35Speaker 10: was like four ever took it like a second round
- 42:37Speaker 10: fIF and her reports he is trying to get Harold from.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Tennessee Harold Landry. Yeah.
- 42:46Speaker 10: Yeah, So that means that if everything works out smoothly
- 42:50Speaker 10: and they able to get the guys they want to
- 42:51Speaker 10: get in part the prey when also into the trade,
- 42:55Speaker 10: that means they went to trade that fourth picked down
- 42:57Speaker 10: to accumulate more.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Fits well, I mean, you know when you start talking
- 43:01Speaker 2: about trading the fourth down, now you're talking about, like,
- 43:04Speaker 2: you know, guys who may or may not even make
- 43:06Speaker 2: the team. I think he's talking about the fourth the
- 43:10Speaker 2: fourth overall pick. Oh okay, I'm sorry.
- 43:12Speaker 5: I mean I mean the overall pick to make the team.
- 43:15Speaker 4: No.
- 43:15Speaker 2: I mean, look, if you do, if you do really
- 43:19Speaker 2: well in free agency, there is that temptation to, yes,
- 43:23Speaker 2: trade that, but you have to have a partner to
- 43:25Speaker 2: do that. Who's gonna want to trade up?
- 43:27Speaker 3: Yeah? I think you want to trade out of the
- 43:29Speaker 3: fourth overall regardless of what happens in free agency.
- 43:32Speaker 2: You want to, But like, can you?
- 43:34Speaker 3: I don't think right? But I exactly, I mean, but
- 43:36Speaker 3: I don't.
- 43:36Speaker 4: Know how many I don't know how many multiple pics
- 43:39Speaker 4: you're stockpiling, depending on how far down you.
- 43:42Speaker 5: Go, because who are they trading up for? For? Who
- 43:44Speaker 5: dos somebody absolutely have to have and go get.
- 43:47Speaker 3: The only way The only question is I think with
- 43:50Speaker 3: four and it's kind of contradictory to wanting the two
- 43:53Speaker 3: quarterbacks to go in the top three. But let's say
- 43:55Speaker 3: Shador Sanders is still on the board at four overall,
- 43:58Speaker 3: and somebody wants to get to the front of the
- 44:00Speaker 3: line and they don't want to wait and see if
- 44:02Speaker 3: the Raiders are going to take him at six. So
- 44:05Speaker 3: the Saints jumped the Raiders from four to nine. To
- 44:08Speaker 3: get Shador or whatever the case may be, to make
- 44:11Speaker 3: that happen so that you don't get you don't lose
- 44:13Speaker 3: your guide. You know, if I fix something.
- 44:16Speaker 4: To maximize it. The most picks that you could probably
- 44:18Speaker 4: get would be if the two quarterbacks went in the
- 44:21Speaker 4: top three and you just decided, Okay, I can take
- 44:24Speaker 4: Travis Hunter, or I can get a stockpile of picks.
- 44:28Speaker 2: That's my choice because somebody loves because.
- 44:30Speaker 4: Someone is going to want abdul Cat or Travis Hunter
- 44:33Speaker 4: that much to be able to give you the picks
- 44:36Speaker 4: that you want.
- 44:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like say no, Yeah, It's like the Will
- 44:39Speaker 3: Anderson trade from with the Texans a couple of years
- 44:42Speaker 3: ago that they just loved Will Anderson, so they traded up,
- 44:45Speaker 3: I think from twelve to back up into the top
- 44:48Speaker 3: five to draft Will Anderson. I think they drafted Stroud
- 44:50Speaker 3: and Anderson back to back, so.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Two and three. I think, right, Nate's in Connecticut, Hey, Nate.
- 44:57Speaker 11: Hike you guys hear me?
- 44:59Speaker 2: Yes?
- 45:01Speaker 12: All right?
- 45:01Speaker 11: So I had I had a couple of questions about
- 45:04Speaker 11: some free agents and stuff. Uh So, based on a
- 45:07Speaker 11: couple of reports I heard from today and yesterday, Alex
- 45:11Speaker 11: Austin and Christian Ellis start coming back under tenders.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Really solid players.
- 45:18Speaker 11: From the season, especially Alex Austin. Uh, he's been pretty great.
- 45:24Speaker 11: He was pretty good in the Indianapolis game. And then
- 45:27Speaker 11: I also had a question about Austin Hooper. He's been
- 45:32Speaker 11: a really reliable tight end too, uh parry with Hunter
- 45:35Speaker 11: Henry Uh he caught that that fourth and twenty two
- 45:39Speaker 11: bombs from Drake van Miami, which was pretty awesome. But
- 45:43Speaker 11: would you, uh, would you like to sign him back
- 45:46Speaker 11: or he would he be a good player to come
- 45:48Speaker 11: back next year or should we let him walk? And
- 45:52Speaker 11: I also my last question for you guys is would
- 45:55Speaker 11: you be opposed to UH drafting another running back to
- 46:00Speaker 11: join the competition between Remondre Stevenson and uh uh Antonio.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Gibson later in the draft.
- 46:08Speaker 11: Stevenson has had his like fungble issues and then Gibson
- 46:12Speaker 11: has also had his issues, so it wouldn't be bad
- 46:15Speaker 11: to have another running back in the competition. But yeah,
- 46:18Speaker 11: that's what I have for you guys.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Think, Okay, thanks, The running back's easy. Yeah. Later in
- 46:23Speaker 2: the draft shore good draft. In terms of Austin Hooper,
- 46:27Speaker 2: he's he's a free agent right Yeah, he's a piece
- 46:30Speaker 2: like I thought.
- 46:30Speaker 4: I think State's right. I think he was a good
- 46:33Speaker 4: solid number two. Uh, you know, compliment to Hunter Henry.
- 46:36Speaker 4: I think he could probably do better. But you know,
- 46:40Speaker 4: at what cost do you want to? You know, I should?
- 46:43Speaker 4: You know, Evan's still in this dark place about the draft.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Harry Dark, Tyler Warren, you know this dark room I'm in.
- 46:49Speaker 4: Is he is he on? You know? Is he on
- 46:51Speaker 4: the table that first round pick?
- 46:53Speaker 5: How do you feel about Jahem Bell as well? Who
- 46:55Speaker 5: was you know, behind the scenes?
- 46:56Speaker 2: A little lesson through us about that? You know?
- 46:58Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I think you just under if you know,
- 47:01Speaker 3: to give Hooper spot to a guy you draft, he
- 47:04Speaker 3: doesn't even have to be Tyler Warren. It's a great
- 47:06Speaker 3: tight end class. You might be able to draft somebody
- 47:08Speaker 3: on day two. Ye you know, Mason Taylor, Terrence Ferguson,
- 47:12Speaker 3: Harold Fannin, Like, go right down the line and you
- 47:15Speaker 3: draft one of those guys, and now you have to
- 47:17Speaker 3: give that guy reps because you just drafted him with
- 47:19Speaker 3: a top one hundred pick. So that probably knocks Hooper
- 47:21Speaker 3: out in the last.
- 47:22Speaker 4: It'll be interesting to see when the timing goes because
- 47:25Speaker 4: free agency obviously is before the draft.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Yeah, and Hooper was an it was a Van Pelt guy.
- 47:29Speaker 3: I think that's important to mention as well that he
- 47:32Speaker 3: came here because he had been with Alex Van Pelt
- 47:35Speaker 3: in Cleveland and in the system before. So he's not
- 47:38Speaker 3: a Josh guy. So I don't I don't know, it.
- 47:40Speaker 4: Doesn't fit well, Jo.
- 47:41Speaker 3: I didn't say that. I just said that I'm.
- 47:43Speaker 4: Taking a lot of shots at boy Josh literally for
- 47:48Speaker 4: Alex van Pelt, like, I totally agree with you, totally.
- 47:51Speaker 3: Running back spring them.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Yeah. And in terms of Austin and Ellis, I mean
- 47:55Speaker 2: you need those guys too.
- 47:56Speaker 4: Alex Austin's exclusive right free agency, we had no options.
- 47:59Speaker 4: Chris Nowis was a restricted free agent, so he really
- 48:02Speaker 4: had no options, and he was tendered at the lowest
- 48:06Speaker 4: tender right.
- 48:07Speaker 5: The right of your first refuse.
- 48:08Speaker 2: But you need to fill out your.
- 48:09Speaker 4: Roster and there and that does not guarantee that those
- 48:12Speaker 4: guys will be on the roster. No.
- 48:14Speaker 5: I mean, of all those r f A and exclusive
- 48:17Speaker 5: right free agents, I do like Alex Austin, I just
- 48:19Speaker 5: tough starts of the year. Couldn't separate from Marco Wilson.
- 48:22Speaker 5: A lot of competition, but he's got okay size and
- 48:26Speaker 5: another guy that I think you've invested a little bit in,
- 48:28Speaker 5: and you know, similar to like we said with Trey
- 48:31Speaker 5: Jacobs as the tackle, Like is he the answer? Maybe not,
- 48:34Speaker 5: but still somebody that you've invested in, and I think
- 48:37Speaker 5: deserves a chance to get through the offseason and see
- 48:39Speaker 5: if they can make some strides within the systems, see
- 48:41Speaker 5: how they fit with Josh all that stuff.
- 48:42Speaker 3: He's been a strong two years in a row. Alex Austen,
- 48:45Speaker 3: He's had some rough patches in between, but two good
- 48:48Speaker 3: strong Justin's in Kansas City.
- 48:50Speaker 5: Hey, Justin, there's elder two nice. I was wondering all that.
- 48:55Speaker 13: Yeah, Hey, hey, So something I kind of wanted you
- 48:59Speaker 13: guys that analyze a little bit is like the Brown
- 49:02Speaker 13: situation is really interesting, right, So, like their bottom ten
- 49:05Speaker 13: and cat space, and I don't think they necessarily get
- 49:10Speaker 13: like the big splash veteran quarterback because like they're just
- 49:15Speaker 13: such in a bad place with cat spaces, and if
- 49:17Speaker 13: you're gonna find Miles Garrett, you might need to explore
- 49:21Speaker 13: the route of getting like a rookie quarterback. But like,
- 49:25Speaker 13: what do you guys kind of think of their situation.
- 49:27Speaker 3: I would say that they're the most likely team out
- 49:29Speaker 3: of the top three to draft a quarterback. There. He's
- 49:33Speaker 3: you know, Justin's pretty much right, and they not only
- 49:36Speaker 3: do they need to all that with the cap and everything,
- 49:39Speaker 3: but they need to get something to distract from the
- 49:41Speaker 3: Deshaun Watson debacle, like in a young quarterback like cam
- 49:45Speaker 3: Ward comes in and maybe you know, impresses a little bit.
- 49:49Speaker 3: That's a nice way to you know, forget about that.
- 49:52Speaker 2: Deal with Watson is he's still on the team. Yeah,
- 49:54Speaker 2: and even if they released him, they they still get
- 49:58Speaker 2: a huge cap.
- 49:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:59Speaker 3: Now I would think that, you know, they could russell
- 50:01Speaker 3: Wilson it and just release them anyways like Denver did
- 50:04Speaker 3: and just and just for a year. They're just kind
- 50:06Speaker 3: of in a tough spot with it, and then we'll
- 50:08Speaker 3: go away and then just like the Broncos, did you
- 50:10Speaker 3: draft Bo Nicks, you know, you draft cam Ward and
- 50:13Speaker 3: you have a quarterback that's affordable on the rookie contract
- 50:16Speaker 3: for the year. So I think got Giants, Browns, Titans,
- 50:20Speaker 3: they're the most likely quarterback team.
- 50:22Speaker 2: The Browns. Yeah, thanks Justin. Let's go to Christian in LA.
- 50:28Speaker 2: What's up, Christian?
- 50:32Speaker 14: How are you going to do it today?
- 50:33Speaker 10: Okay, great, Well, first, before I give my well thought
- 50:39Speaker 10: out and scripted.
- 50:41Speaker 14: Question here, as a caller last week alluded to, I
- 50:45Speaker 14: would like to say the reason why I mentioned the
- 50:48Speaker 14: tax brackets that were in the Palace state last week
- 50:50Speaker 14: because we were talking about exclusive clubs and things like that.
- 50:54Speaker 14: That's the break immediate stuff was happening. And I haven't
- 50:57Speaker 14: lived in a place where there is a tax bracket
- 50:59Speaker 14: that those kinds of people hang out in, which I've
- 51:02Speaker 14: said several times I know and hasn't had. That's something
- 51:05Speaker 14: that's put in the fire.
- 51:06Speaker 11: I don't know why.
- 51:07Speaker 14: It's just touched the nerve and there you go to gentlemen,
- 51:10Speaker 14: if you're listening, Okay, sorry.
- 51:11Speaker 4: Your voiceover IP is not is very Yeah, just continuing
- 51:16Speaker 4: the listener on listener crime for it.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Keep going well.
- 51:22Speaker 15: Anyway, my football question, that's better, And yet I have
- 51:26Speaker 15: thought about it before I called in, like I think
- 51:28Speaker 15: most people should. Couldn't make for a decent question. If
- 51:31Speaker 15: we could pick up Joey Botha, which I believe we
- 51:34Speaker 15: should be on, we should send an airplane down to
- 51:36Speaker 15: get him and just not let him get off the
- 51:38Speaker 15: airplane without signing with US and Chris Godwin. Would you
- 51:41Speaker 15: guys think it would be a be a breach to
- 51:44Speaker 15: try to maybe find a trading partner to trade up
- 51:47Speaker 15: to get Travis Hunter a round out our defense, or
- 51:51Speaker 15: trade down and take someone like a asking gent to
- 51:54Speaker 15: make a flash like you know in the backfield.
- 52:00Speaker 2: It off. So I guess your premise is that if
- 52:02Speaker 2: you pick up Bosa and you pick up Godwin, you're
- 52:06Speaker 2: addressing two needs, which is pressure on the quarterback and
- 52:10Speaker 2: a wide receiver, and then kind of and then you
- 52:13Speaker 2: can afford to maybe give up some assets to get
- 52:16Speaker 2: Travis Hunter. I guess is that what.
- 52:18Speaker 3: If you I love Christian but you're gonna have to
- 52:21Speaker 3: take away my shoelaces if that's the off season like that,
- 52:25Speaker 3: therese are two guys that are being injured and have
- 52:29Speaker 3: some serious concerns about what's left in the tank. In
- 52:32Speaker 3: Bosa's case.
- 52:33Speaker 4: I don't think Joey Bosa saws your past rushing year. Yeah,
- 52:36Speaker 4: I think he's a good player, but he's almost never
- 52:38Speaker 4: at And what do you have like five sacks last year?
- 52:42Speaker 3: I don't nine seasons. Not a guy he's thirty years old.
- 52:47Speaker 5: Then they got no bodies at the position so I
- 52:49Speaker 5: wouldn't just dismiss him completely, but I know I wouldn't,
- 52:52Speaker 5: but that's not the answer.
- 52:54Speaker 2: I would be better a minimum contract.
- 52:56Speaker 4: I'd be interested in Joey Bosa as one of those
- 52:58Speaker 4: sort of mid tier like veterans, stop gap kind of guys. Yeah,
- 53:02Speaker 4: because I think he can play. But I'm not signing
- 53:05Speaker 4: Joey Bosa and saying my pass rush issues have been solved. No,
- 53:09Speaker 4: he's not that player anymore, and he's never really been
- 53:12Speaker 4: as productive as his brother. Nick has been the better
- 53:15Speaker 4: player in San Francisco than Joey, much better.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Yeah, would you say he was at the level of
- 53:23Speaker 2: guy went from Denver to Buffalo nov Miller?
- 53:28Speaker 4: No, no, never approached that. Okay, von Miller is offensive
- 53:32Speaker 4: Player of the Year.
- 53:33Speaker 2: But at the time he went to Buffalo, where was
- 53:35Speaker 2: he or where? It's still better than this? Still better
- 53:38Speaker 2: than him? Okay, I'm just asking, but bite my head.
- 53:41Speaker 4: No, I mean von Miller is a Hall of Fame
- 53:44Speaker 4: caliber player. Yeah, I don't think Joey Bosas sniff.
- 53:47Speaker 2: That Eldred's in North Carolina.
- 53:51Speaker 4: On Joey Bosa.
- 53:53Speaker 2: Okay, Eldrid.
- 53:57Speaker 11: In the Divisional round awful a little bit.
- 54:02Speaker 12: So we U from the form, the phones, the situation.
- 54:07Speaker 3: But I gotta trade.
- 54:08Speaker 12: But you shot it up yesterday me and that me
- 54:12Speaker 12: and if Alice liked it. But I don't think Evan did.
- 54:16Speaker 2: Shocker, But I'm DK metcalf. I'm gonna guess most definitely.
- 54:23Speaker 2: I know my eldred trade.
- 54:26Speaker 12: Four for they eighteen and they third and get DK.
- 54:31Speaker 3: So we're trade what are we trading?
- 54:33Speaker 2: Oh?
- 54:34Speaker 12: We traded in our four good day eight good day
- 54:37Speaker 12: eighteen and they number three day number two.
- 54:39Speaker 3: And DK forgetting they're coming up to four eighteen two
- 54:43Speaker 3: and DK, Yeah, eighteen three inde, I mean I would
- 54:48Speaker 3: do it, but that's why I don't think you're gonna
- 54:50Speaker 3: get that much back.
- 54:51Speaker 12: But why not because you're moving up to four?
- 54:55Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I get it, but better than DK. Yeah,
- 54:58Speaker 3: but DK, you you think is probably considered to be
- 55:02Speaker 3: like a low first high second value. So like they're
- 55:05Speaker 3: kind of already giving a.
- 55:06Speaker 12: Second third, but they got him in the third in nineteen.
- 55:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, but what is he now?
- 55:12Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 55:12Speaker 12: I mean I understand it, but yeah, okay, the first
- 55:18Speaker 12: first and the four and DK, But like I said,
- 55:21Speaker 12: you gotta give us another pick. It's just that eight
- 55:24Speaker 12: what you got because they're gonna trade with the Rams
- 55:26Speaker 12: for twenty three and the wide receiver. I'd be damned
- 55:29Speaker 12: if they want to come up four and.
- 55:31Speaker 5: Do that one, I know.
- 55:32Speaker 2: But they're looking for a first and the third, right,
- 55:34Speaker 2: that's what they said.
- 55:36Speaker 4: They've said that on on the record, that they're looking
- 55:39Speaker 4: for for that. I don't think that they have any
- 55:40Speaker 4: chance of getting a first and the third.
- 55:42Speaker 2: I don't either, but that tells me they're not going
- 55:44Speaker 2: to give them away right right, they're looking.
- 55:46Speaker 4: They'll just keep them rather than give them away.
- 55:49Speaker 3: I think they're looking. I think that, you know, Bill
- 55:51Speaker 3: Barnwell Road in the ESPN that like their metrics, like
- 55:54Speaker 3: think that it's like a low first high second round
- 55:58Speaker 3: pick would be like fair compensation for so like you
- 56:01Speaker 3: could put thirty eight on the table and maybe something else,
- 56:04Speaker 3: you know, for DK, you know, thirty eight and maybe
- 56:07Speaker 3: a mid round pick and like Kendrick Bourne, like basically
- 56:09Speaker 3: the deal they were gonna make for Brandon that you know,
- 56:13Speaker 3: I think that that's realistic.
- 56:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, all right, thanks Aldred.
- 56:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm glad Eldrick called in because one of the
- 56:20Speaker 5: DK stuff broke. He was the first person I.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Thought, oh yeah, he called in to catch twenty two.
- 56:24Speaker 5: He's got like, oh yeah, trade diagrams up. He's like,
- 56:27Speaker 5: we're gonna make this happen finally.
- 56:28Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, lots of emails calls coming in. We're
- 56:31Speaker 2: gonna get to more of them right after this.

- 57:46Speaker 4: We're going to get to that landa. I'm going to
- 57:47Speaker 4: get that out of.
- 57:48Speaker 9: Here here, Paul Parlo here, he's number eighty seven on
- 57:50Speaker 9: your scorecard, but number one in everybody's hearts.
- 57:53Speaker 6: Rob Gronkowski, what an introduction, guys. I appreciate that love,
- 57:57Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 57:58Speaker 2: I play really for number.
- 57:59Speaker 6: One organization of all times as well, So it was
- 58:02Speaker 6: a great matchup to have the number one tight end
- 58:05Speaker 6: pointing for the number one organization.
- 58:07Speaker 2: Baby, that's what's up.
- 58:08Speaker 9: Brian where comes here and does some stuff with us,
- 58:10Speaker 9: And I was asking him. He told me he had
- 58:12Speaker 9: you want as a guest the other day and I said, Brian,
- 58:14Speaker 9: let me ask you a question. Go back to the
- 58:16Speaker 9: Pittsburgh game. His rookie year was Zach GRONKX coming out party.
- 58:19Speaker 9: He goes, that's a pretty good one. I mean it
- 58:21Speaker 9: was Sunday night football, right, three touchdowns bounds, and I
- 58:26Speaker 9: mean I think people saw that who covered the team
- 58:28Speaker 9: or who was around the team, watched the team, knew
- 58:31Speaker 9: that there was something. Did you feel like that night,
- 58:33Speaker 9: like I'm sort of putting the league on notice here.
- 58:36Speaker 9: You're not saying that, I'm saying that, but watch out.
- 58:39Speaker 4: You know that's a good point.
- 58:40Speaker 6: It definitely was my coming out party to everyone that
- 58:43Speaker 6: was a fan of the New England Patriots. But I
- 58:45Speaker 6: can tell you this, the game before, which was my
- 58:48Speaker 6: worst game of my career with the New England Patriots,
- 58:52Speaker 6: that was my true coming out party. And I'll explain why.
- 58:55Speaker 6: That was the first game that I truly was in
- 58:57Speaker 6: the game plan every single play, and I was a
- 59:00Speaker 6: big part of the game plan. And I absolutely dominated
- 59:04Speaker 6: in the blocking scheme of that game. And I had
- 59:07Speaker 6: a lot of great plays as well. In the past game.
- 59:09Speaker 6: I think I had about six catches for about eighty yards.
- 59:13Speaker 6: It's just a rookie, this is I'm talking. This was
- 59:15Speaker 6: a game right before the Pittsburgh Steelers game. But here's
- 59:18Speaker 6: the thing. I had a fumble on our own two
- 59:22Speaker 6: yard line. I caught a little hook route five yards
- 59:26Speaker 6: and then I saw the end zone about four more
- 59:29Speaker 6: yards ahead of me. So I just tried, you know,
- 59:31Speaker 6: barreling through about four players, and let me tell you
- 59:34Speaker 6: didn't work out. And they hit the ball out of
- 59:36Speaker 6: my hand and I fumbled it.
- 59:38Speaker 2: And then I also.
- 59:39Speaker 6: Had had a fumble I on the kickoff return.
- 59:43Speaker 2: I was a wingman. I went to fair ketch it.
- 59:46Speaker 6: Sammy Morris was in the back, and then he thought
- 59:49Speaker 6: I was gonna fair catch it, so then he let
- 59:52Speaker 6: it go.
- 59:52Speaker 2: I let it go and then it hit the.
- 59:55Speaker 6: Ground and the Cleveland Browns, you know, picked up that
- 59:58Speaker 6: fumble recovery right there on the kick off return. So
- 1:00:01Speaker 6: therefore I was the reason for two turnovers. So when
- 1:00:04Speaker 6: you're the reason for two turnovers.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Monday must suck.
- 1:00:07Speaker 6: Nothing else that you did in that game matter, no
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: matter how good you played. But let me tell you,
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: besides those two turnovers, having that fumble on our on
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: our going into the end zone on the two yard line,
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: and that fumble on the kickoff return, I had one
- 1:00:21Speaker 6: of my best games as a rookie, but it was
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: so overshadow. So that's why I truly believe that was
- 1:00:28Speaker 6: my breakout game. And also really I learned a lot
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: as well because of those situations and because of those
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: two plays and Therefore, I had the confidence actually going
- 1:00:39Speaker 6: into the Pittsburgh game because I knew I played so well.
- 1:00:42Speaker 6: It's just that I had those two mistakes. And now
- 1:00:45Speaker 6: I swear that's what led to the three touchdowns because
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: I knew I could go out there and ball because
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: of that Cleveland game.
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: I just had to clean it up a little bit.
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: Matt Cleveland game. You know what that was?
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: Game with name? Right?
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: That was the Peyton Hillis game.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Yah's right, that was Theyton Hillis game.
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I think was a rookie quarterback.
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: It was like the first time tom Asti a rookie
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: quarterback and along absolutely.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: So it was one of our two losses that year. Actually,
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: I think we ended up fourteen and two. He lost
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: to the Browns.
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: Yep, that is accurate. I wanted to like getting back
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: to that rookie year. You come in, Billy Oh is there,
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: and you know you and Aaron are both a huge part.
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: Right away of the offense. There's two tight end stuff
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: and eventually Billy Oh starts that that really up temple.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: I think that was eleven, right, twenty eleven, that up tempo,
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: really high powered offense, fast fast temple. What was it
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: like to play in that that scheme, it looked like
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: you guys just couldn't be stopped.
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: Yeah, that scheme was called Nascar. NASCAR, and it actually
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: makes sense NASCAR because you're.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: Going so I knew there was a name for it.
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: But I'm getting older, I know, hey, hey, hey, that
- 1:01:48Speaker 6: happens to me all the time. And actually I was
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: talking to Julian Edelman and he brought up NASCAR. And
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: that's why I know that the term name is NASCAR,
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: because he just brought it up to me a couple
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: of days ago, So now it's fresh in my mind.
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: I would have been sitting.
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: Here like, ah, what's the what's the uh, what's the
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: what's the call?
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: When you go really fast again?
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: And it's not the turbo two minute drill, but it's
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: not the two minute drill because we're ten minutes into
- 1:02:10Speaker 6: the second quarter. But it's NASCAR, And that makes total
- 1:02:12Speaker 6: sense why it's called NASCAR. And you had all just
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: one word terms to know where you lined up, and
- 1:02:16Speaker 6: you hurried up to the line of scrimmage and you go.
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: But what made it, you know, what made it work
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: is because all the players were on the same page.
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: And when you have a guy like Tom Brady, who's
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: so efficient and so on top of it, he can manage,
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: you know, you can manage everyone on the field to
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: where they need to be in such a short period
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: of time. So then it's a vantage on the offense
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: side of the ball because the defense is still trying
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: to get lined up and wonder where everyone is and
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: who has who, who's covering who. So it kind of,
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: you know, dismantled the defense in the way, and then
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: you take advantage of that and you just hit the
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: open guy really quick. But NASCAR could have definitely not
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: happened our rookie year, especially with the players that we
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: had myself, you know, Aaron as well, and a couple
- 1:02:55Speaker 6: other guys that were young, because we're still learning the
- 1:02:59Speaker 6: ins and outs of the NFL. I was still struggling
- 1:03:02Speaker 6: with the playbook. And that's actually why I truly didn't
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: really play all the plays my rookie year. Like the
- 1:03:07Speaker 6: first eight games, I played like twenty plays only because
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: those are the only twenty plays that they trusted in
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: me that I knew, and all the other ones I was,
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: you know, I was kind of messing up on. So
- 1:03:17Speaker 6: if you don't have the trust of your teammates and coaches.
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: They're not going to play you no matter how good
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: you are. So the playbook was, you know, a high
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: difficulty skill. There's no doubt about that, especially for myself.
- 1:03:30Speaker 6: So going into our second year is kind of when
- 1:03:32Speaker 6: NASCAR got introduced, and that's when you kind of understand
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: the playbook a lot better, and then you can handle
- 1:03:38Speaker 6: the you know, the terms or just one word means
- 1:03:40Speaker 6: the whole entire play because then you understand the whole
- 1:03:42Speaker 6: entire play already. Now you can handle just a one
- 1:03:45Speaker 6: word and you know what to do. So when we
- 1:03:47Speaker 6: put that in and implemented it, it was such an
- 1:03:49Speaker 6: advantage and we absolutely dominated teams because of it.
- 1:03:53Speaker 9: You talk about trust, how did you earn Tom's trust?
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: Rob?
- 1:03:57Speaker 9: Is what eight nine year difference between you guys. He's
- 1:04:01Speaker 9: smart enough to go, Holy smokes, this kid catch radius.
- 1:04:05Speaker 9: Look at what he can do. This guy's going to
- 1:04:07Speaker 9: be able to help me. But the way that you
- 1:04:09Speaker 9: were in the trust in your combination together, you're talking
- 1:04:13Speaker 9: about one of the best quarterback receiver combinations, whether you're
- 1:04:17Speaker 9: you know, tie or whatever in the history of the league.
- 1:04:20Speaker 9: That doesn't happen by chance. What went into that relationship
- 1:04:26Speaker 9: where you became such a valued like he knew we
- 1:04:29Speaker 9: were going to be all the time, you knew the communication, whatever.
- 1:04:33Speaker 9: It was something special that people haven't really seen a
- 1:04:36Speaker 9: lot of.
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: It was a really really special connection. Might possibly be
- 1:04:40Speaker 6: one of the best connections of all time, possibly one
- 1:04:43Speaker 6: of the best quarterback tight end connections of all time.
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: And not just that just just ball passer to ball receiver,
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: you know, just just the aspect of the whole entire game,
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: not just one position quarterback to a wide receiver, but
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: just overall, just as a whole.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: It could have been one of the best connections. It's
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: up there.
- 1:05:01Speaker 6: I believe it's up there too. I mean, we've done
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: some incredible things. But we had actually you said eight
- 1:05:06Speaker 6: to nine year age difference, it's actually a twelve year
- 1:05:09Speaker 6: age difference. I was twenty one years old. He was
- 1:05:11Speaker 6: thirty three years old. I was still both supposed to
- 1:05:14Speaker 6: be a senior in college. He was just married kids.
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: I mean, we had two totally different lifestyles. The age gap,
- 1:05:22Speaker 6: you know, was tremendous as well, so you know, but
- 1:05:26Speaker 6: the thing is is that we both wanted to be great. Obviously,
- 1:05:29Speaker 6: we all knew Tom wanted to be great already, but
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: as a rookie, I wanted to be great as well.
- 1:05:34Speaker 6: And what got us on the same page, what built
- 1:05:37Speaker 6: that chemistry was the work that we put out on.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: The practice field.
- 1:05:40Speaker 6: And it wasn't just a practice field either, you know,
- 1:05:43Speaker 6: during the practice time, it was after practice as well.
- 1:05:46Speaker 6: And I was just reminiscing with Brian Hoyer actually about
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: on his podcast the other day, is that Brian Hoyer
- 1:05:52Speaker 6: and Tom would say after practice my rookie season, it
- 1:05:55Speaker 6: would just be myself and I would be running an
- 1:05:57Speaker 6: actura fifteen to twenty different every single practice after practice,
- 1:06:04Speaker 6: just so I can get on the same page as
- 1:06:05Speaker 6: Tom and the quarterbacks because they saw greatness in me.
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: And when you see greatness in a player, Tom wanted
- 1:06:13Speaker 6: to exploit that greatness and bring it out and so
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: that player could be as great as they possibly could be.
- 1:06:19Speaker 6: And as a rookie, you know, sometimes I didn't understand that.
- 1:06:22Speaker 6: It's like I just want to go home. I gotta
- 1:06:23Speaker 6: go out, I gotta I gotta go to this restaurant,
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: meet meet this girl, meet this friend, meet my brother,
- 1:06:28Speaker 6: meet my family or whatever.
- 1:06:30Speaker 9: So he's gotta be not busting your balls but like, dude,
- 1:06:33Speaker 9: I know you're twenty one, twenty two, twenty three, you've
- 1:06:36Speaker 9: got greatness in you. You better get your ass in
- 1:06:38Speaker 9: here tomorrow and get your head straight because I'm counting
- 1:06:41Speaker 9: on you and we're counting on you. Those words must
- 1:06:44Speaker 9: have like that.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: That's serious.
- 1:06:46Speaker 6: Yes, definitely serious, And that's basically is what happened. You know,
- 1:06:50Speaker 6: it was setting those terms, not exactly like that, but
- 1:06:52Speaker 6: definitely in those terms. And you know, we built that
- 1:06:56Speaker 6: it through throughout time. It wasn't like hey, just one night.
- 1:06:59Speaker 6: You know, you know, Brady the Gronk, they're on fire.
- 1:07:02Speaker 6: That connection is unstoppable. It was built over a year.
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: You know, that trust was built over a year of
- 1:07:09Speaker 6: practice and hard work, and it really built going into
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: my second year. Yeah, we had some great times my
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: my rookie year, those three touchdown game, you know in
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: the playoffs. I had a couple of catches as well,
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: the game that we lost actually versus the Jets, which stunk,
- 1:07:23Speaker 6: you know, which stunk. That was a bad exit my
- 1:07:25Speaker 6: rookie year out of the playoffs, But uh, it happens.
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: But uh there's a couple other times, I know my
- 1:07:31Speaker 6: rookie season two where you know, he just didn't trust
- 1:07:34Speaker 6: me yet either.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: I was.
- 1:07:36Speaker 6: I was on fire the week before, but as a rookie,
- 1:07:38Speaker 6: then the next week would show up and I would
- 1:07:39Speaker 6: be just totally dismantled and not doing what he wanted
- 1:07:42Speaker 6: me to do.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: And then I didn't see.
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: Yeah, the consistency, You're right, it was not there. And
- 1:07:46Speaker 6: then going into my second year, everything was clicking a
- 1:07:49Speaker 6: lot better. You know, you get a little break from
- 1:07:51Speaker 6: from the game of football because you have the off season,
- 1:07:53Speaker 6: you come back and just everything was firing. I totally
- 1:07:57Speaker 6: understood what he wanted out of me. I totally understood
- 1:07:59Speaker 6: what the coaches wanted out of me, and I totally
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: understood where I wanted to go to and I knew
- 1:08:04Speaker 6: what I had to do to get to that level
- 1:08:06Speaker 6: I wanted to be at and boom from there on out.
- 1:08:09Speaker 6: Going into my second season, all that hard work though
- 1:08:12Speaker 6: that we did my rookie year finally paid off and
- 1:08:16Speaker 6: it all started clicking. It made so much sense why
- 1:08:19Speaker 6: we were running all those extra routes, why he wanted
- 1:08:21Speaker 6: me where he wanted me out on the field, because
- 1:08:23Speaker 6: that's where he wanted to place the ball away from
- 1:08:25Speaker 6: the defender. All that little detail and all that good stuff.
- 1:08:28Speaker 6: So it took a good solid year to have that chemistry.
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: And then from yere on out, you just you just
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: you know, just get smarter, just build upon it and
- 1:08:37Speaker 6: build upon it. But that chemistry will would always be
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: there from there on.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: And now great moments history. How are we going to
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: do this? Who's gonna go first?
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: Well, I have it, Mike, alex Evan, Paul Fred, Mike Evan.
- 1:09:00Speaker 5: That clockwise?
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: What's clockwise?
- 1:09:02Speaker 7: Mike, go the way of a clock.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: I haven't, Hey, Boomer, I look at my phone.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: In your apartment.

- 1:11:17Speaker 2: My it's a lot.
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: I'm glad that that has been taken away from me.
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: It's not even an option, were you no, only a
- 1:11:24Speaker 5: little bit in the past of college football games where
- 1:11:27Speaker 5: like I knew I was going to be in a
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: place watching a certain game, and I would, you know,
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: put a little like do a parlay, like nothing crazy.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: Years ago, man, this guy living on Comma and Fred
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: had a guy. We had a guy. We had a
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: guy on the corner across the street from us was
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: Heartland and Drugs. So our code name is Heartland. So
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: when we would call in and be like Heartland, we're
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: going to do this, this, this, this, and yeah. So
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: the guy that would pick up the money was a
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: Boston fire man.
- 1:12:03Speaker 8: Seeing how things are playing out, like they've been criminalized
- 1:12:06Speaker 8: for so long and now it's just celebrated.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: That's a nice little story.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: It is.
- 1:12:12Speaker 8: It's exactly the same. Those people feel the same way,
- 1:12:15Speaker 8: those like old dealers and stuff.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: That's a great more. Like you know the bookie, like
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: now he's out of a job and he's like.
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: It's got a job at draft.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: His life is over because like it's legal to gamble now,
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: so there's no use for him anymore. They don't anymore.
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: Level position at DraftKings like it's obviously.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: Like like it's it's a comedy, you know.
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: Yeah, right, just punched this up a little bit.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: He just wrote it.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: Interviews.
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: Yeah, Jason Bateman's my number one.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Whett rights in and he he dares me in the
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: subject line, don't dodge the question. Fred on Tuesday the
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: clip with Andy in the one pound Burger, correct me
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: if I'm wrong. But the other voice was he who
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: shall not be named? Right, that is correct? It was
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: like Obi wan Kenobi. Now that's the name I haven't
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: heard in a long long time. I thought the people
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: who ask who he is may be interested to know
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: that they have now heard his voice.
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: That's correct, that's correctly perceptive.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: He who shall not be named, and we shall not
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: name him.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: Lots of emails, lots of calls.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: Let's get to the calls. Uh, David, I gotta get
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: my mouse, right, David's Florida? What's up, David? David good?
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: All right?
- 1:13:35Speaker 18: So I might I feel like I'm the only one
- 1:13:38Speaker 18: who has sort of like buyers beware feeling with guys
- 1:13:41Speaker 18: like Brandon Ayuk and Chris Godwin, I'm kind of concerned
- 1:13:44Speaker 18: about the injury. Do you think that Ayuk would be
- 1:13:47Speaker 18: if we were to trade for Ayuk, that he would
- 1:13:50Speaker 18: be ready for training camp in even week one?
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: Not real.
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: I don't think you'd be ready for week one now.
- 1:13:59Speaker 18: I feel like it would be. I just feel like
- 1:14:01Speaker 18: it'd be a waste of giving up significant asset to
- 1:14:04Speaker 18: get a guy who might not be the same after
- 1:14:06Speaker 18: his injury. I don't know, Maybe I'm wrong.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: It's a fear.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that you probably are going to get
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: him for less than what you would have gotten him
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: last offseason, because that's what you have to hope. So
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: you're kind of trading for him for twenty twenty six
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: almost in a way to hope that he gets it
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: back for that year, and you got him for pennies
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: on the.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: Dollar, especially that you're trading for the contract too. So
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: he signed a big money, long term contract. So Evan's right,
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: I think that the selling point for the Patriots would be, well,
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: he's not worth that anymore right now because he's damaged good,
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: So to offset that, we're going to give you less
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: than maybe we would have had to in the past.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what you'd have to hope.
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: And he's under contract, so it's a little different, like
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: they could trade for him, and they don't need to
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: get him to agree to an extension because he already
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: signed the extension. So he's kind of trapped at that point. Ye,
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: not that that's what you want to do.
- 1:14:58Speaker 18: But I think there's any lingering concerns for Godwin for
- 1:15:02Speaker 18: his injury, Yeah.
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: Te me a little bit, but not as I mean,
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: like not as much. Though it's a disicated ankle. I
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: don't think that that's gonna be as long term of
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: a rehab for him. But yeah, I mean it's two
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: serious injuries within a couple of years for him.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it depends on in the dislocation, how bad it was,
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: you know, like was their ligament damage and that type
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: of stuff. Thanks David, We'll go down to New York.
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: Scotty's there, Hey, Scotty, Scotty.
- 1:15:29Speaker 19: He god I just wanted to know why is it
- 1:15:35Speaker 19: being more or less dismissed the idea of the Patriots
- 1:15:39Speaker 19: taking Mason Graham at four overall? Is it more so
- 1:15:43Speaker 19: like just because of far more and the big money,
- 1:15:47Speaker 19: or it's just not really a position of need. But
- 1:15:49Speaker 19: I look at it like we we need more foundational pieces.
- 1:15:53Speaker 19: This is a guy who had three years of really
- 1:15:56Speaker 19: good production in the Big ten, and I just don't
- 1:15:59Speaker 19: understand what we don't well, we don't see his name more.
- 1:16:04Speaker 10: With the Patriots.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: I don't dismiss it, Evan does.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: He's not my guy.
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: I kind of dismissed it too, And I'm a defense guy.
- 1:16:10Speaker 5: But I mean, as you say you need a foundational piece,
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: do you think they are you sure at two hundred
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: and ninety pounds he's going to be a foundational piece
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: or is he going to be, you know, a good,
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: really good rotational player. I mean, I think he's obviously talented.
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: I just I question if he really is.
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: I think I think he's a look at the tape guy.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: Look at what he did, you know against pretty good
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: competition ish especially in the biggest game.
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: Yeah, he played really well in a couple of their
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: big games, Ohio State National championship game two years ago.
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: He was definitely in the conversation.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: I think that you know, you get him in the NFL,
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: maybe he adds a few pounds. You don't want him
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: to get too heavy because maybe he loses that that
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: quickness but I I think that I I think I'm
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: I like him. I wouldn't be you know, uh distraught
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: if they picked him at four.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: I don't think he's being dismissed at all. I think
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: we talk about Mason Graham plenty.
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: I think he's definitely on the table.
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I just think that, you know, I personally just
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: prefer other people. But that's not you know, it's not
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: because I think he's terrible. I just you know, I don't.
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: I don't really view interior defensive linemen as premium as
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: left tackle or as a premium position like edge rusher
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: would be. So I just look at it a little
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: bit differently in terms of that.
- 1:17:27Speaker 19: But can I read the quick point? Am I still on?
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: Sure?
- 1:17:30Speaker 16: Ye?
- 1:17:32Speaker 19: With the Patriots in playing in cold weather, playing in
- 1:17:36Speaker 19: December and January, wouldn't they a bigger a bigger player,
- 1:17:43Speaker 19: an interior three down player be a little bit more
- 1:17:45Speaker 19: valuable in a cold playoff game in Buffalo or New
- 1:17:49Speaker 19: England or Cincinnati or wherever than a white head rusher
- 1:17:54Speaker 19: on the outside.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: No, I I know, but Mason Graham isn't that kind
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: of guy.
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: I was going to you would have neither, because he's
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: a smaller interior defender.
- 1:18:04Speaker 19: You're talking like that, there's well the run production that
- 1:18:09Speaker 19: he has on tape and in a running competence.
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I I mean, look, I would love to
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: sit here, Scotty and say that that I'm drafting a
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: player because we're going to be playing in the AFC
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: Championship game and I have to I have to get
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: to the ANFC Championship game first, right.
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: And I don't think that the weather has anything to
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: do with the game plan, unless it's like we're talking
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: snow wind, like when San Diego came in here last year,
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: Like how was the game plan when they threw it
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: all over you?
- 1:18:38Speaker 19: To say, I think the number one needs to be
- 1:18:40Speaker 19: to protect mag But that's just that's their number at A,
- 1:18:44Speaker 19: B and C right now. But I was just I
- 1:18:46Speaker 19: was just wanted an explanation.
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: No thanks, Scott. I don't mean to sound dismissive about
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: Mason Graham if I am, because I asked you he's
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: on the table. I just it just wouldn't be the
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: guy I would pick, that's all like.
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: And that's why I'm intrigued by a guy like MIKEL Williams,
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: who certainly has a ways to go. But I can
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: sell myself on him being that foundational player if he
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: if it all works out, if he were developed you
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: know the way that I think he could. He's got
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: all the size, he's got, you know, the explosives. I mean,
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: he is a three down player potentially in the defensive front,
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: which I just I don't know if Mason Graham would
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: ever be that. I like piece, but I.
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: Just have reservations because I don't see the explosive athlete
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: that like the Donalds the Joneses of the world that
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: play that spot are right, But I like it that
- 1:19:33Speaker 4: the player. I think he's a really good player, and
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: I think he's very much in play for that Picky.
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: I don't think people have eliminated him from the number
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: four pick.
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: And he's like a prime example of one of the
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: guys like when we try to project who they're going
- 1:19:44Speaker 5: to take and what the big board stuff is, it's
- 1:19:46Speaker 5: like you really have a to think about it, Like,
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: I know it's not my cup of tea, but is
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: it potentially their cup of tea?
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: And you guys have watched him, Fred, I think you've
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: watched him, probably even more than me. I know that
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: there's like a lot of penetration, But to me, it's
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: he's more of like a technician, like he's I've heard
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: a lot about the wrestling stuff, like the leverage and that,
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: and that's great, But what happens when he gets against
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: all guys that have that ability to go against them,
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: like the Aaron Donalds and Jones is of the world.
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: They can overpower you, they can run by you, and
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: that's what makes them. Warren said, that's what makes them
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: different on the inside, you know. And I'm not like,
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: I'm not saying that Mason Graham Isn't that that's not
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: fair because that's not fair to say, well, he's not
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: as good as the very best players who've ever played
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: that position, right, But I'm just like, that's what you
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: need to be as the fourth overall pick.
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: Again, there's nobody worth that except but.
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: I think Tyler Warren might be that kind of a
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: tight end. So that was the conversation I was gonna
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: I don't think he's worth the fourth overall pick either,
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: but I think that he is a generational kind of
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: tight end.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: Got to make a pick when I'm draft. If you're
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: drafting fourth overall, you would just like the traits to
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: be there to say that, to project a ceiling of
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: this player as like an all pro type of player,
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: I think Mason Graham has a very very good floor.
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: Like I don't think Mason Graham is going to totally
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: flame out of the NFL. I just don't know if
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: I see him being a top five player at his position.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: We're going to have to lower our expectation this year.
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: Possibly, yeah, we possibly have to.
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: Unless we have Abdul Carter or if you get Travis Hunter.
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: I think he's he could be that kind of guy.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean Paul's right, Like the things that you
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: hear about Mason Graham that he's good at leverage, hand technique, motor, like,
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: that's all great. It just I don't know if that's
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: great for fourth overall. Like if you're taking that guy,
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: you know, in the top fifteen of a draft, like
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: you're saying, Okay, I'm gonna get this. This is a
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: football player. You turn on the tape and you love
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: this guy when you watch him on film, and I
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: think he is that.
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: I want people to think that where you and I
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: are like, oh, this guy can't play. There's no business
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: being drafted No, he's really.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: Good Rodney's in Foxborough. I've been listening since twenty eleven.
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: Love all the new and past members of Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: But if there's one absence I feel most, it's Fred.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: Everything he brings his gold, the sneaky humor, the sniffs,
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: the absurd name pronunciations. It's always almost agreed with his life,
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: takes what belongs in an Italian sub the right restaurants
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: of the Cape. Until now, Oh Fred, the backwards hat
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: take shook me. I'm thirty six and when I wear
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: a hat it's almost always backwards. I respect your opinions
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: so much that I actually started wondering, is it time
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: to retire it?
- 1:22:37Speaker 11: Yes?
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: It is that. Then Alex came through with the save.
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: If I'm putting a hat on and caring about what
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: anyone thinks, it's for someone like Alex, not Fred. Yes,
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: So thank you Alex for making me feel like I'm
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: not too old to keep rocking it. If anything, I'm
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: wearing it with even more pride.
- 1:22:55Speaker 8: Now you're welcome, and it's like I put in the newsletter,
- 1:22:58Speaker 8: you can't ask a fish right there.
- 1:23:01Speaker 7: It's a good one.
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: That's a great email.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: Why can you ask a crook how to catch a crook?
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: I think in general they do the FBI.
- 1:23:10Speaker 7: That's a good point. I never really fai if a.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: Fish could talk, like, how would I catch you? If
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: I want to cyber crime?
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: You know what they do? They go out and find
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: the best hacker.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: Out there and the.
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: Yeah, but listen, I I need you to listen.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: I still have my opinion. But I listened. I did
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: a poll and talking, I was open minded, and a
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: lot of the women in our office said they actually,
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: I think it's cool when guys wear their hair.
- 1:23:38Speaker 7: It was actually unanimous.
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: But the vast majority of that pole they're all young.
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: They're all young.
- 1:23:45Speaker 7: Thirty six is young.
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: Thirty Oh no, I think this is a psychological thing.
- 1:23:56Speaker 7: Men at thirty and get better looking.
- 1:23:58Speaker 5: I know, I've heard that.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: I can tell you that happened for me, still waiting.
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: Well around the time I started to get a little
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: thin in the back and a little big in the front.
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: I read what she wrote in the in the newsletter,
- 1:24:11Speaker 5: and it made me think of there's like this guy
- 1:24:12Speaker 5: who I think wrote this whole book called the Like.
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: I don't know if it's like the pick up artist.
- 1:24:15Speaker 5: I know that's a movie, but it's a book about
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: like the science of trying to pick up women. And
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: it's part of like you have to peacock, you have
- 1:24:22Speaker 5: to have like wear something kind of flashy that stands out.
- 1:24:25Speaker 5: And I was thinking with the hat, it's kind of
- 1:24:27Speaker 5: that like instant signal of like I can just wear this.
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: I don't really need it to shade the sun out
- 1:24:32Speaker 5: of my ou just cool.
- 1:24:34Speaker 8: I can you know, wear something like there's an actual
- 1:24:37Speaker 8: term called halt fishing. Guys like say they're on like
- 1:24:42Speaker 8: a dating profile and all their pictures if he has
- 1:24:45Speaker 8: a hat on, it's like, okay, these are great, but
- 1:24:47Speaker 8: like there's that worry what's under.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: The head hair or what's not under my hair?
- 1:24:52Speaker 7: And either way it's fine.
- 1:24:53Speaker 8: But the hat just it adds that little bit of
- 1:24:56Speaker 8: mystery and most guys look goods.
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: It's a I said up the day that it came
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: up that I've heard a million people agree one thousand
- 1:25:05Speaker 4: percent with Alex.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: The backward hat thing is a thing. I think you
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: should start wearing a straw hat. You know, those straw hats.
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: You should just we should just go like a straw man.
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: Did you have a preference though, if it's a fitted
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: hat with no little pikaboo at their forehead, or do
- 1:25:19Speaker 5: you want one with the with the clip that you
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: know you get a little forehead.
- 1:25:23Speaker 8: I don't like a fitted hat backwards, yeah, okay, because
- 1:25:27Speaker 8: I don't know why. Or a baseball hat like a
- 1:25:30Speaker 8: standard based like Dad baseball hat, or snap back backwards.
- 1:25:35Speaker 7: You need a snack fitted hat. You have to wear
- 1:25:38Speaker 7: front facings.
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: We're getting to the Bible.
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: I just think once you get out of college, give
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: it up. Du give it up. Duck takes it duck tape.
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: Sammy writes in from Pleasanton, California. First of all, Deuce,
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: don't ever wear an l A hat again? Appalling? Are
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: we sure you skated at holy Cross?
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: I don't know when. I mean, I have one l
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: A had I lived there for eighteen years. I thought
- 1:26:08Speaker 5: I could. I can at least run off.
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: You know what Mike used to be in the industry.
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: He's was I supporting the fire department or something.
- 1:26:15Speaker 7: I don't know, evan Dodgers hat or something?
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: I do. I mean, I have an l A A
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: Dodgers hat, but I don't evan.
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: No more Lumberjack flannels during your analysis. Second, do you
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: work for the Patriots or as Varna.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: I don't know what farna.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: It's like a tool they make laws and tractors and stuff.
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: That's out that that's why this John John, I mean
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: like you could have said like toro John Deere, like
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: you go with like literally like the one you know
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: what is that?
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: I pause without fred pronounce it because I've always looked
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: at that word.
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: That's like saying, oh, what are you a car?
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: Are you like?
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: But that also tracks like a lot of guys now,
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: especially in like that s.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: Tools man man man to German or something.
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: I think it's Swedish sus you'd like to have heard of?
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: It makes sense maybe using the word sus.
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: Maybe if I can give you guys a credit at
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: the pro shop for some fresh drip. No, we don't
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: need second football. Please help me understand why the general
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: consensus of trading Milton in a couple of draft picks
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: for Miles Garrett is so far fetched? What is Garrett
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: really worth from an asset standpoint?
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: By a couple of draft picks you mean four and
- 1:27:41Speaker 4: next year's one because now I'm in, But because they're
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: not given. I mean, we talked about DK metcalf and
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: now they said a first and third and whatever. Cleveland's
- 1:27:50Speaker 4: not just going to give him away.
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: He says. Garrett is turning thirty. He wants out of Cleveland.
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: The Browns need a quarterback prospect, and Milton is a
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: better option than any quarterback in the twenty five draft.
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: Always with Drake and trentch at QB one, how much
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: playing time is Milton never going to see? The Patriots
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: not only need to upgrade their pass rush, they're a
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: desperate need of a high profile player to help bring
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: free agents to the team.
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: The notion that Joe Milton is the best quarterback in
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: the twenty twenty five draft is hilarious. Sorry, I don't
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: mean to be disrespectful, but it's just.
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: I'm gonna go down a dark road here that might
- 1:28:23Speaker 4: not be happy. But like the whole idea of, you know,
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: with Drake entrenched as your quarterback, when is Joe Milton
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: ever going to play? How many times did Drake start
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: and finished last year? He had knocked out of two
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: different games. Now I'm not counting the last one.
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: I'm not counting the last one.
- 1:28:44Speaker 4: Right, This is not a shot at Drake May Okay, it's.
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: Like, why why are we good player?
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: My point is, why are we just assuming our starting
- 1:28:56Speaker 4: quarterback is going to play seventeen games when he started
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: ten last year and didn't make it, you know, front
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: start to.
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: Finish in two of them, and how many you guys,
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: And I'm not.
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: Counting the last game, by the way, when he came
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: out of coach's decision.
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: I don't. I'm not even sure Joe Milton's the Patriots
- 1:29:11Speaker 5: backup quarterback. That's where I'm kind of questioning left that.
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: I left back to Evan good enough with that, I'm like,
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: why are we just assuming that it's gonna be seventeen
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: starts for Drake May?
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: You're going to need somebody at some point, probably, Mike
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: writes in the most eric thing ever said by Evan,
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: I don't know what has fauna is?
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: Again, Like you could have picked a very well known
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: like you know, John Deere or Toro or like, and
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: I would have been like, Okay, I get the joke,
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: but like you had to pick the random Swedish you know.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: I think John Deere would have been better for this audience. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: Gerald and Grimsby following up on Alex's hat fishing if
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: a woman's online profile she only has she only has
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: sunglasses on in every picture run away.
- 1:29:57Speaker 7: I agree with that. O.
- 1:30:00Speaker 8: Yeah, that's like, is that what it is for women?
- 1:30:03Speaker 8: The hat fish?
- 1:30:04Speaker 9: Like?
- 1:30:04Speaker 8: You just see a woman with big sunglasses on? Does
- 1:30:06Speaker 8: that make her more or less attractive?
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: So the I don't know about the size of them,
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: but I will say that there's an attractive quality of
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: a woman.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: In miss well the ravens.
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: But now they got the big ones and they cover
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: like three quarters of her face.
- 1:30:21Speaker 7: Well not any more. Little ones are back now.
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: I have other things like that, but I don't think
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: it's good.
- 1:30:25Speaker 8: Cleen made like a thin sunglass that everyone's duping and copying.
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: I got a question, what about what about visors and
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: bucket hats? Where where enhancing hotness?
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: Uh?
- 1:30:36Speaker 5: Not enhancing ugliness?
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: Like because are you worried?
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: No, I'm just asking are you expecting to be back
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: on the.
- 1:30:45Speaker 8: It's a professional golfer. I don't see a single reason
- 1:30:48Speaker 8: ever for you to.
- 1:30:49Speaker 7: Wear a visor, Andy.
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: I don't see a.
- 1:30:52Speaker 8: Reason for anyone, honestly, even if you are a golfer
- 1:30:54Speaker 8: to wear a visor bucket hat. It's kind of juvenile.
- 1:30:58Speaker 8: That's the one I would say leaven call it, but.
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: What like if you're a coach though, like Josh Rock's
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: advisor and he needs.
- 1:31:05Speaker 7: Should probably look better in a baseball hat.
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: I don't get the advisor to do your thing. But
- 1:31:10Speaker 4: Andy and loves.
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: Him something you love advisors?
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: What is it?
- 1:31:13Speaker 4: I don't think that he can find enough hats that
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: fit is a normous squash. I hear that, and I'll
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: tell you even on the visors, every last is stressed
- 1:31:24Speaker 4: to the max.
- 1:31:25Speaker 8: Advisors And this isn't even a shot at Andy, even
- 1:31:28Speaker 8: if it like applies, but it just gives like I
- 1:31:30Speaker 8: did roids in the nineties, like I don't know why,
- 1:31:33Speaker 8: like your name is made or something that's like I
- 1:31:39Speaker 8: don't really know Andy that well, so I don't know
- 1:31:41Speaker 8: enough about him to seem like, well are you guys?
- 1:31:46Speaker 8: That's just my take, and it happens, it's be.
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: An awful quiet it'll be grind himself to sleep tonight
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: on this huge villa.
- 1:31:54Speaker 5: There was there wasn't enough weight in the low in
- 1:31:57Speaker 5: our gym here at Jillette Stadium for Andy, right, like
- 1:31:59Speaker 5: really he needs to throw, particularly with the dumbbells.
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: Well, going back to that clip that had Andy and
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: he shall who shall not be named, talking about the
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: one pound burger Hans and Franz. The lead is is buried.
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: The two of them were in the gym before, like
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: those two meatheads in the gym. Oh he should not
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: be named. He used to do the leg press. Every
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: forty five plate he could find. He's put on this,
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: plus like the five gallon buckets filled with cement on
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: shanes hanging like anything he could find people, and he
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: would be lifting like fifteen hundred pounds on this thing,
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: you know. And of course Andy would like pretend he's
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: not paying attention, but he's looking out of the side
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: of his eye, like I wish that was me, the
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: two Hans in front, and.
- 1:32:43Speaker 5: He gives me the vibes of a big dumbbell flies
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: guy like got the dumbbells on the incline bench and he's.
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: Got because everybody else equipment. But he'd be like, you know,
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: I could look, I can with the whole guy, I
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: could bet more than you like. Of course, you, Candy,
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: your arms are half as long. You don't have to
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: go up as high. That's t J.
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: Now. He was all speaking of, which how is will
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: Campbell's to twenty five? How many times you put that up.
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: I should have been about four hundred because he doesn't
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: have to go very well, was Andy's advantage.
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: Armand Membu put up thirty one with thirty three and
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: a half inch arms. I mean that is that's tough
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: to do. That's a beast right there.
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: Anyway, I used to don making fun of Andy.
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: So I found out that my nephew who played, you know,
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: he played some college football and he was a tackle
- 1:33:33Speaker 4: and he had thirty four and a half in round.
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: So I told my brother, yes, I so just just
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: let him know. He's now considered an underachiever in I
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: mighty should be in the lag.
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: Everybody's short arm tackles these days. Like all these guys
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: came in there around thirty three inches and four.
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: There was the short arm infant epidemic and that affected
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: a lot of people. Apparently be right because from the.
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: Kelvin epidemic, armand Membu, Josh Simmons, will Campbell like Ozzy
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: Trapilo has thirty three and charms at six eight, which
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: is just doesn't like that kind of defies logic.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: How does he get his hands in his pockets?
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: Just have him raised?
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: I love you, Fred.
- 1:34:14Speaker 4: Those are the lines right there.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: That's why they love you. But that's really sad.
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: I have nothing.
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: There's nothing better than one Evans being.
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: S you have nothing, but maybe you have something with
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: this one Shane and Springfield. Did I hear Evan Wright
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: that he thinks Austin Hooper might not come back because
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: he's an a VP guy. Can the genius of PU
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: please tell me the last two head coaches Hooper signed
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: with prior to New England. I don't know he was Tennessee,
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: wasn't a head coach.
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: He was with Tennessee in Tennessee with Rabel. Yeah, but
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: that's also like a West Coast offense with Arthur Smith, and.
- 1:34:52Speaker 4: I would go I would look more at the offensive
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: coordinators than I would the head coach.
- 1:34:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: I just think that he was specifically brought in.
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: He said it. I mean I came here.
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: For out and that's what I thought you were judging
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: that by it. And I'm not dismissing that they'll re
- 1:35:06Speaker 4: sign him. I think it did work well last year
- 1:35:08Speaker 4: with Hunter Henry and I think.
- 1:35:10Speaker 7: It clearly position room. It seems like we didn't have
- 1:35:12Speaker 7: an issue.
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: With probably the best a VET that's.
- 1:35:14Speaker 8: Played with really great quarterbacks. He was a great compliment
- 1:35:17Speaker 8: to Hunter and he likes it here importantly and it
- 1:35:20Speaker 8: works with a man of being here, So like.
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: Have you have you talked to him about that?
- 1:35:24Speaker 7: Yes, very much.
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: There's another kid.
- 1:35:28Speaker 7: He's like a history.
- 1:35:29Speaker 8: Boss the box everything it has to offer in terms
- 1:35:32Speaker 8: of like lifestyle.
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: So Austin Hooper greater than just came back.
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: He likes it here.
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: I like Austin Hooper too, and the vet part is important.
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: I thought both him and Hunter Henry were really big
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: with Drake May, like they kind of took him under.
- 1:35:45Speaker 7: Their waves good quarterbacks.
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: And Hunter Henry especially kind of turned into Drake May's
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: like big brother on the team.
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: And I think so to the point where they actually
- 1:35:55Speaker 4: did a press conference together. Really uncomfortable, but they did it.
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: I thought, great.
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: It was weird. Our listener on Listener Crime email of
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: the Week, Oh comes from Josh and Atlanta. Here for it,
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: he says, Oh boy. Another episode where Christian from La
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: brings up tax brackets in the Palisades. Here's an idea, Christian,
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: write down what you want to say before calling in.
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: I know writing can be scary, but I have faith
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: in you. Maybe do a few practice runs first. Wow. Wow,
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: Wow's that's harsh. That's harsh.
- 1:36:29Speaker 8: I might start a new sub section of the newsletter
- 1:36:31Speaker 8: for just the listeners to attack each other.
- 1:36:33Speaker 4: Oh geez, it used to be a lot more of it.
- 1:36:37Speaker 7: Really.
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't, Jeremiah writes in you guys are going
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: to have to help me with this one. I think
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: Shamer Stewart and Michel Williams are the only ones I
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: would really consider at four if we stick and pick,
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: I would rather take a shot on upside and have
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: faith in the coaching staff to get the most out
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: of their athleticism.
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: Yeah, Shamar Stewart blew up the combine, but fact he
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: had foreign and a half career sacks at Texas A
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: and M over three seasons. He had one and a
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: half sacks last year at Texas A and M. So
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: you're doing a lot of projecting that you are going
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: to get a much more productive player if you're going
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: to take him at four overall. But he was the
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: best tester at the entire combine, like one to one
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: at the entire combine.
- 1:37:19Speaker 5: But I love the kid too, Like, I just liked
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: his presence at the podium, you know, just seemed like
- 1:37:23Speaker 5: you know, the kind of leader that you'd want to pick.
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: But that's why I just lean a bit little bit
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: towards Williams of just he's still more productive, productive, but
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: it's also a ceiling that you can't quite see yet.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: I feel like, so where was.
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: Where was he sort of projected top fifteen ish like he.
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: Was so he didn't like with this movement.
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: I was because that's the first thing I thought of
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: was maybe he's the answer to your question from tuesday.
- 1:37:47Speaker 5: I think going in. Evan actually said it before the combine,
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: he's going to be a guy who blows Yeah.
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: Well he was.
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: He was already considered first round pick.
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: Yeah, he was already considered a top half of the
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: first round guy because he's he's disruptive. He just isn't
- 1:37:59Speaker 3: a sack guy.
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: So you think that that kind of performance helps him.
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: Yeah, especially in a draft like this where there's not
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: a lot of consensus.
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: At the top.
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: Like if he's abdul Carter is obviously going to be
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: the first edge guy taken. But if he's the second
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: edge guy taken, I don't think it would blow anybody
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: away at this point.
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: Those two guys to look at him, two of my favorites.
- 1:38:16Speaker 5: I mean, he just stoot's fun to watch. He just
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: plays with his hair on fire. I mean he's unrefined,
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: you know, and it's a little bit like you know,
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: bull in a China shop, like he just going crazy.
- 1:38:25Speaker 5: And I'm sure you got to get him to play
- 1:38:27Speaker 5: a little bit more disciplint. But he's got every tool
- 1:38:29Speaker 5: in the box. And you know, seems like a good
- 1:38:31Speaker 5: guy too. So that's a lot like.
- 1:38:32Speaker 4: You know how I always tell you this is the
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: random guys that stick out.
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: I think he might be one of the.
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: He's two hundred and sixty seven pounds and he're in
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: a four or five in the forty yard dash of.
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: Two hundred and sixty seven pounds moving.
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: And he he he jumped over forty inches and I
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: was gonna say feet forty inches in the vertical as well.
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: I think he was like forty one or forty and
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: a half in the vertical.
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: And size big, just big, big, a bunch of bottles big.
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: He's like an illegitimate superhero, like someone like gave him,
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: like the apt in America drifted him out. He wasn't
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: super agile, so he is a little bit more of
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: a stiffer.
- 1:39:07Speaker 4: I don't know what's making me laugh more here Fred
- 1:39:10Speaker 4: asking these questions or the fact that Evan truly knows
- 1:39:13Speaker 4: the answer to that's.
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: That's great, that's Evan, That's superpower. Chris with a T
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: I A n great the three.
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: Cone of some Brando in the middle of the first.
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: Round Christian Wrights in great week of coverage last week.
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: Thank you Duce and Evan for their work at the combine.
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: I'm old enough to remember when Paul and Andy were
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: the ones doing that and Nanny would come back with
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: a story of some stomach bathroom issue that required him
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: to dispoke. None of that, None of that happened, absolutely
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: none of it.
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: Playing the role of Andy Harden this week's episode would
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: be Mike too, Sue, who had prime rood.
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: I know you touched upon this last week, but was
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: there any other person on the planet happier than Barth?
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: Did he sleep at all? Was he literally on every
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: show and YouTube channel? It was exhausting. I'm tired. Oh done, Barth.
- 1:40:02Speaker 5: No, he did a great job. I mean, I defer
- 1:40:04Speaker 5: to Evan because they're like soulmates, but I don't know
- 1:40:06Speaker 5: if he was happy or not, Like he was just
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: like was just so happy, overwhelmed, and I gotta do
- 1:40:11Speaker 5: this and where are.
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: You guys going?
- 1:40:13Speaker 5: You're going over there now, okay, can I come? Like
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: you know, it's just everything was so frenetic, and I
- 1:40:16Speaker 5: gotta go on the radio ten thirty. Then I'm back
- 1:40:18Speaker 5: on the radio seven thirty. They're like, Barth, calm down, bro.
- 1:40:20Speaker 5: Like Evin, I think you said at one point like
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: you're at about a ten.
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: H you did about a five.
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: It's like day one's telling Bart to just calm down.
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: Yeah he uh, all true, all all accurate depictions. Uh.
- 1:40:33Speaker 3: But he got to try his first saying Elmo's Cocktail
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: Sauce experience on on Thursday night. And he's been making
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: fun of me this whole time for last year when
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: we ate a trimp on the air and I kind
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: of like half, you know, half asked it a little
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: bit and he just pops the whole thing in his
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: mouth and I just see like all of a sudden,
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: and he's like trying to be like tough about it,
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: and he's like it's fine, it's fine.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: It's just like.
- 1:41:04Speaker 5: Every signus in your head, like you just like all
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: awesome everything it does feel good.
- 1:41:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: Yeah, No, he was in his element. There's no doubt
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: about that.
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: Rich says. Rabel drafted Hooper and Josh mcdam's was with
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: him with the Raiders. So there you go. And Thomas
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: wants to for Matt to play the Okay, here we
- 1:41:25Speaker 2: go song more often. He loves that you got that U,
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: that's my song? Okay, save it for next show. I
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: caught him on the marine dot com website.
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: What is that website?
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: Anyway?
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: You can't spell Austin Hooper was drafted by the Falcons.
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: I thought.
- 1:41:46Speaker 3: He played in Tennessee with Rable though he did.
- 1:41:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I wouldn't rule it out. I like the player.
- 1:41:50Speaker 5: I mean, there's enough connections that I just think it's
- 1:41:53Speaker 5: a question of do you want to tap this class
- 1:41:55Speaker 5: this year? Go a little bit young. You've extended Hunter Henry,
- 1:41:58Speaker 5: but it seems like every year they like to have
- 1:41:59Speaker 5: a guys, you know, two guys.
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: Tom and Vernon New Jersey also says, I love the
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: idea of trading for DK. Any scenario where we can
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: trade for him and keep the fourth overall pick, not
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: according to Seattle, but we'll see.
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: Yeah, but you could give them a future.
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: And he added value for adding in born. I think
- 1:42:19Speaker 2: Born is not the talent or mentor we hoped he
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: would be for the team and would only hurt the
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: team if he remains. And I think the Patriots need
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: a real veteran mentor professional presence in the wide receiver room.
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: Am I crazy?
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: No, that's not necessarily DK, But I think that you know,
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: the trade that they supposedly agreed to reportedly agreed to
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: last year for Brandon Nayuk was a second of fourth
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: and Kendrick Bourne for Brandon Nayuk, So I wouldn't be
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: surprised if a DK package looked somewhat similar. And the
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: Seahawks just cut Tyler Lockett and now they're trading DK Metcalfs,
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: so they're gonna need some receivers. So maybe you can
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: throw in one of ours.
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: Patty's and agawam on the line. What's up, Patty?
- 1:43:02Speaker 20: Hey, good afternoon. Everyone has everyone doing good good? I
- 1:43:07Speaker 20: apologize if you guys covered this today, wasn't able to
- 1:43:09Speaker 20: listen earlier, but some of the buzz coming out of
- 1:43:12Speaker 20: the combine was about Jamie and Sherwood and how they're
- 1:43:15Speaker 20: kind of looking for that style of player at linebacker.
- 1:43:18Speaker 20: Do you think they're given any consideration of moving Marte
- 1:43:22Speaker 20: Motpu to a linebacker or do you think like he
- 1:43:25Speaker 20: might be one of the guys that Brabel just says,
- 1:43:28Speaker 20: you're gotten and I'll take it off there.
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: Guz Okay, thanks Patty.
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: Yeah, that was the one name of all the reports
- 1:43:33Speaker 5: that that I wasn't really on my radar. I kind
- 1:43:38Speaker 5: of look at him a little bit like christianelle Is
- 1:43:39Speaker 5: that they just kind of resigned. I mean, I think
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: he's better than Christianelli's probably, but I'm not really getting
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: excited about that or thinking that that's like a big
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: piece of their Strategywood green Law, green Law, That's that's
- 1:43:52Speaker 5: my San Francisco. Yeah, I'd love to get him. I
- 1:43:54Speaker 5: think he'd be great next.
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: To Jamie Sherwood. Seems like that guy you know that
- 1:43:59Speaker 4: they have had like ten of in O one that
- 1:44:01Speaker 4: we keep talking about those guys that you don't really
- 1:44:03Speaker 4: know that just their NFL players. They're going to come
- 1:44:06Speaker 4: in and they're gonna, you know, the group of them
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: is going to upgrade your overall level, but individually, none
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: of them is gonna necessarily tip the scales. He sounds
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: like one of those guys. Everybody had him in there.
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: You know tidbits on the combine things we're hearing. Everybody
- 1:44:23Speaker 4: had that name.
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: That's the right temperament, it feels like for what they're
- 1:44:26Speaker 5: seemingly looking for. So I think it's a position they
- 1:44:29Speaker 5: have to address. They got to sprinkle some free agents
- 1:44:30Speaker 5: into this defense and really start to rebuild it. I mean,
- 1:44:34Speaker 5: to be honest, that's where they're headed.
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: Mark's in Connecticut.
- 1:44:37Speaker 21: Hey, Mark, Hey, everybody. I kind of had a dream scenario,
- 1:44:42Speaker 21: but I think it's very possible to do because of
- 1:44:44Speaker 21: the amount of draft capital and money that we.
- 1:44:47Speaker 6: Have to spend.
- 1:44:48Speaker 21: What I would do is I would actually take both
- 1:44:51Speaker 21: DK Metcalf and Brandon I you, I would trade for
- 1:44:54Speaker 21: both of these guys because again you have the draft
- 1:44:56Speaker 21: capital to do it and the money. And then I
- 1:44:59Speaker 21: would sign Ronnie's Stanley if you can, or Cam Robinson
- 1:45:03Speaker 21: that addresses your left tackle is the kid from BC
- 1:45:06Speaker 21: that's a really good right tackle that you can draft
- 1:45:09Speaker 21: in the draft. And then at the number four pick,
- 1:45:12Speaker 21: you can either pick Tyler Warren or Ashaan Genty. And
- 1:45:15Speaker 21: I really think that that just boasted your whole team.
- 1:45:19Speaker 21: But I know it's a kind of dream scenario, but
- 1:45:21Speaker 21: I really think it's possible.
- 1:45:22Speaker 4: Okay, So I agree it's that you could. You could
- 1:45:26Speaker 4: definitely do all that. But you said they have the
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: draft capital to make those two trades. So I just
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: want to hear some proposals. How do you get DK
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: Metcalf and Brandon Ayuk with the draft capital that you're
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: talking about.
- 1:45:40Speaker 21: You'd have to do this year and next year, but
- 1:45:43Speaker 21: you'll have two and three for this year, and then
- 1:45:45Speaker 21: you should have another two and three for next year,
- 1:45:48Speaker 21: so you can do for the players to one, we're.
- 1:45:50Speaker 4: Not trading first round picks and we're getting two elite
- 1:45:53Speaker 4: wide receivers. What's that We're not trading any of the
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: first round picks, but we're going to get two elite
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: wide receivers.
- 1:46:02Speaker 21: Yeah, because you can do it with a two and
- 1:46:04Speaker 21: a three?
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: Who says.
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: Mark Connecticut says, well, Seattle doesn't know, and I'm gonna
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: get San Francisco doesn't either.
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: I don't know what San Francisco is asking, but yeah.
- 1:46:16Speaker 2: I don't think I'm not interested in a Yuk right now,
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: he's like he's not gonna be ready.
- 1:46:22Speaker 21: For track care.
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: I don't dismiss the proposals. I mean, those are those
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: are big home run swings. We're gonna try to get
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: two really good receivers and a in a really.
- 1:46:31Speaker 2: Good left tackle.
- 1:46:32Speaker 4: I don't dismiss it, but it's going to cost you,
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: and I think it's gonna cost more.
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: Than people basically giving up the top half of your draft. Yeah.
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: I think you're going to have to give up more
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: than you think. That's all I mean. I'm not dismissing it.
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: I think those are the outside the box thinking that
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: I think they need to be contemplating.
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: Thanks Mark, did you guys hear like? I don't know
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: who had the report, but get ready for a blockbuster
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: trade with the paint Oran.
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: He said that Starbucks? Can I get We had fifteen minutes?
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: Can I give you?
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: Can I give you another one? So I had the
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: whole wide receiver thing that ever got mad at me
- 1:47:05Speaker 4: about with the you know, not a fit in the offense.
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: Because so here's another one. Okay. The Patriots are the
- 1:47:13Speaker 4: front runner for free agent X. It doesn't matter who
- 1:47:17Speaker 4: it is. Can I just ask how that can be
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: unless someone says I want to sign with the Patriots, right,
- 1:47:27Speaker 4: So let's just use Ronnie Stanley as an example. Patriots
- 1:47:30Speaker 4: are a front runner for Ronnie Stanley. And I've seen
- 1:47:33Speaker 4: this many times over the last five or six days
- 1:47:36Speaker 4: since the Combine Aftermath has been written up. Does the
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: people that are writing that check in with the other
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: thirty teams I'm eliminating Baltimore, the other thirty teams to
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: see if they're interested in Stanley or if they checked
- 1:47:51Speaker 4: in with Stanley's representatives to find out if Stanley's interested
- 1:47:54Speaker 4: in the Patriots, or are they simply saying the Patriots
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: have a lot of interest in Ronnie Stanley, which I believe.
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: So it just drives me crazy that the Patriots have
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: been deemed front runners for basically every time Dick and Harry,
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: that Mike, Evan and Paul have targeted as guys that
- 1:48:13Speaker 4: we would like, like Ronnie Stanley, T Higgins, you know,
- 1:48:19Speaker 4: Cam Robinson in case we can't get those guys like oh,
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: Milton Williams. Front runner, They're a front runner for every
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: key free agent that's out there. I don't know how
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: you know that. How do you know that one team
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: is a front runner unless that team, I mean, that
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: player is indicated that's where he wants to.
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: Let's go Patriots, right, Well, that's a great question. Paul,
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: And I was about to before you win in that
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: I was about to ask you do we feel like
- 1:48:45Speaker 5: everybody's ready when Ronnie Stanley goes somewhere else, because it
- 1:48:48Speaker 5: feels like all the eggs are in that basket right now.
- 1:48:50Speaker 4: Have another part to this one, a lot of these
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: little free This is my free agent plan again, which
- 1:48:57Speaker 4: all involves all the players that sign everyone that my
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: wife could give you the names at this point, you know,
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: ye by absolutely have they gotten dk Metcalf? Yeah, like
- 1:49:08Speaker 4: literally names that Beth could give you. Okay that this
- 1:49:11Speaker 4: God knows Paul, she does, yeh, she.
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: Knows, Paul.
- 1:49:15Speaker 4: She said, sign Ronnie Stanley to a two year contract
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: for maybe two years forty min Okay. So, and I
- 1:49:24Speaker 4: get the idea you want to get maybe a give
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: them good money short term. He's an older guy.
- 1:49:31Speaker 2: Why is he signed? What's in there for him?
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: Why is he signing a two year deal where he's limited?
- 1:49:37Speaker 4: This is probably going to be his last big contract.
- 1:49:40Speaker 4: Let Wolf cook, right, this is probably Ronnie Stanley's the
- 1:49:43Speaker 4: last big contract. I think he's probably looking for more
- 1:49:45Speaker 4: than two years, so the number can be bigger and
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: it can be spread out for the team but everybody's
- 1:49:52Speaker 4: just gonna sign like one in two year deals with
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: the Patriots and if they really want.
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: Three, we'll give them three.
- 1:49:56Speaker 4: You know, like everybody's gonna fall all over themselves to
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: sign with the Patriots.
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: Everyone.
- 1:50:00Speaker 5: I mean, the Chiefs are going to make a push
- 1:50:02Speaker 5: for him, right, I mean, that's what I felt like
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: with the.
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: That's like the Guards pushes. That makes sense.
- 1:50:08Speaker 5: The Chiefs give him three years.
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: And I don't know why they would have let Orlando
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: Brown go in the first place, if that's what they
- 1:50:13Speaker 4: wanted to do. But you guys tell me it's not
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: because they're cheap, and it's because of the positions that
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: they're in.
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: But everybody's got a bit.
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: They had that guy in his prime at left tackle
- 1:50:23Speaker 4: and said, yeah, yeah, see, you like it's going to
- 1:50:27Speaker 4: be their undoing.
- 1:50:28Speaker 2: Maybe they are going to be their undoing. You watch
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: up for that mistake. Jason and ernin right sin enjoying
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: the show with all the recent short arm talk, Robert
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: Gallery six seven with thirty two and a quarter inch arms,
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: No wonder he failed. How come he was so lauded?
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: Was the short arms theory not in vogue back then?

- 1:55:45Speaker 4: it happens to be, outdoors better. Loves i'm sort OF
- 1:55:50Speaker 4: i don't mind the outdoor. PART i love like there's

- 1:56:36Speaker 4: one beard at the. Bar it's, packed so we're, like,
- 1:56:40Speaker 4: what you, know the one good thing is you were
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: able to walk around with the beer In. Nashville so
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: we get a beer and we like go back outside
- 1:56:46Speaker 4: because it was like really. Hot and then we just
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: happened to like stumble into place right next door and
- 1:56:52Speaker 4: it's like the same exact layout, bar you, know all
- 1:56:55Speaker 4: kinds of only it's not a live bar.
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: Place it's it's a karaoke.
- 1:56:59Speaker 4: Place you, know all this music play is not really
- 1:57:02Speaker 4: a lot of people doing the carryo yet the. Time
