- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I know.
- 0:11Speaker 3: I'm a trader when I say the speed limit is
- 0:14Speaker 3: sixty five miles an hour, because what you're saying is, uh, well,
- 0:19Speaker 3: it's a.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Stupid analogy that went no place.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Okay, let's just you know, sometimes I even impress myself
- 0:26Speaker 3: with the stupidity.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Okay, and now Handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen,
- 0:32Speaker 2: here's Bill Handle.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Good morning everybody.
- 0:40Speaker 3: It is a Friday morning, January the ninth, as we're
- 0:44Speaker 3: well into the new year, and today is foody Friday
- 0:47Speaker 3: without the food and ask handle anything without the handle,
- 0:52Speaker 3: and so we're well, anything without the anything you can
- 0:58Speaker 3: ask handle. In other words, we're not doing the eight
- 1:02Speaker 3: thirty segment today. Neil is gone and he is involved
- 1:05Speaker 3: in putting that together. And Neil usually has a foody
- 1:08Speaker 3: Friday segment with Neil Savedra. And that's how to do
- 1:11Speaker 3: without Neil Savedra. Okay, there's our lineup. I guess's back.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Ko Oh, car broke down yesterday on Surday. Sure, yeah,
- 1:23Speaker 4: it's great.
- 1:24Speaker 1: So it's great.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Are you gonna replace a repair of the car? Replace
- 1:27Speaker 4: the car?
- 1:28Speaker 5: They didn't call me back yesterday, so I don't know
- 1:30Speaker 5: the damage, which I'm guessing that's not good.
- 1:33Speaker 6: What do you mean you don't know the damage? Did
- 1:34Speaker 6: you hit something?
- 1:35Speaker 5: No, but I don't know what's wrong with it. And
- 1:38Speaker 5: they didn't call me to tell me, Hey, this is
- 1:41Speaker 5: how much? So I'm guessing it's gonna be a pretty penny.
- 1:44Speaker 1: So we'll see.
- 1:44Speaker 5: It depends if it's over three. If it's over three,
- 1:48Speaker 5: I'll probably think about the over three?
- 1:50Speaker 1: What thousand?
- 1:52Speaker 7: Who?
- 1:53Speaker 3: And that is a minor repair to cars these days?
- 1:56Speaker 3: So how'd you get in?
- 1:58Speaker 1: I have my wife's, I have my other the I
- 2:00Speaker 1: have the good car, right, and.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Yeah, your wife drives a good car, so how is
- 2:03Speaker 4: she going to get to work?
- 2:05Speaker 1: She doesn't work today?
- 2:06Speaker 4: Oh okay, yeah, so thats good.
- 2:09Speaker 3: And by the way, if you do get a reasonable
- 2:11Speaker 3: under three thousand dollars repair estimate ninety nine dollars for example,
- 2:17Speaker 3: it's still going to take you days to get that fix,
- 2:20Speaker 3: if not.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Longer, Yeah, not too long ago, like two weeks ago,
- 2:23Speaker 5: I got breaks and a belt.
- 2:25Speaker 1: It was eleven, so that was that was a small repair. Breaks?
- 2:29Speaker 4: And what year is your car?
- 2:31Speaker 1: The one I drive is at twenty sixteen?
- 2:33Speaker 4: Well that's not bad. That's not bad.
- 2:35Speaker 1: So but I drive six hundred miles a week, so.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's bad. Yeah. And what car is that?
- 2:43Speaker 1: That's the model. It's a Volkswagen.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Oh, they're still making that. I had.
- 2:48Speaker 3: My aunt is a Jeta, not a Jedi, a Jedi
- 2:53Speaker 3: actually pronounced Jeta. That's good, you know. I just wanted
- 2:56Speaker 3: to point that out, not that it matters. All right, Amy,
- 2:58Speaker 3: good morning?
- 3:00Speaker 6: How are you?
- 3:00Speaker 3: I am?
- 3:01Speaker 4: Okay?
- 3:02Speaker 3: Will is not here because Will is up in the
- 3:04Speaker 3: sky someplace. He was at the Fiesta Bowl and now
- 3:08Speaker 3: he's at some other event.
- 3:10Speaker 6: He's doing one of the wild card playoff games this weekend.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Oh okay. And then there's Anne last and certainly least.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Well, you are cold that you're wearing this like winter park,
- 3:20Speaker 3: I thing freezing.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I have to be layered in here. It's like look
- 3:24Speaker 4: at this. I'm like, it's freezing.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I don't know so far the jacket has just come off,
- 3:30Speaker 3: the shirt underneath is about to come off, and there
- 3:34Speaker 3: we go.
- 3:35Speaker 4: And what color? Okay? Black? Fair enough?
- 3:40Speaker 7: I need music to this, conto, Yeah you do. Actually
- 3:43Speaker 7: I don't have that type of music. Oh, here come
- 3:47Speaker 7: the tassels. Okay, very exciting stuff. All right, And are
- 3:54Speaker 7: you working this weekend playoff games going?
- 3:56Speaker 4: No, we don't have a home game, no home playoffs.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Rams are not in, Chargers are not in. Both are
- 4:02Speaker 4: in the playoffs. They're both in playoffs, but they're both
- 4:04Speaker 4: playing somewhere else.
- 4:06Speaker 3: You know, as I said, wouldn't it be absolutely terrific
- 4:08Speaker 3: if the Rams and the Chargers played against each other?
- 4:13Speaker 3: The trifeca would trifecta would be the Rams the Chargers
- 4:17Speaker 3: at home.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Well, you do realize that the Super Bowl is coming
- 4:21Speaker 4: so far, so that could happen.
- 4:23Speaker 3: If when is it? Oh well I'm talking about this
- 4:25Speaker 3: time around. What was it coming to so far?
- 4:27Speaker 4: Next year?
- 4:28Speaker 1: Oh?
- 4:28Speaker 4: And you're gonna be working uh huh Oh that's exciting. Oh,
- 4:33Speaker 4: it be so awesome. Yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Super Bowl Week the players hate it, you know, because
- 4:38Speaker 3: it's a week of talking to thousands of reporters and
- 4:42Speaker 3: going to meetings and you know, under contract, the ballplayers
- 4:48Speaker 3: have to deal with all that. Who was that one
- 4:50Speaker 3: player a few years ago who hated it to the
- 4:53Speaker 3: point where whenever he was interviewed, and he went to
- 4:56Speaker 3: all the interviews, he was forced to under contract and
- 4:59Speaker 3: all he did was grunt.
- 5:00Speaker 1: There will be Marshall Lynch.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Yeah, oh hey, so what do you think it's gonna
- 5:05Speaker 3: happen at Super Bowl?
- 5:07Speaker 4: So what do you think defense offense is going to prevail? Hm?
- 5:13Speaker 4: And how much does he make or did he make
- 5:16Speaker 4: a lot? Yeah? And he met and he met the
- 5:19Speaker 4: terms of the contrast. He was there and he responded.
- 5:25Speaker 4: That was interview. I did that interview with Rodney King.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I think it was his first interview that he had
- 5:30Speaker 3: after his incident. And this was subsequent to him taking
- 5:35Speaker 3: a crowbar to the or beating up that that transvestite hooker,
- 5:42Speaker 3: if you remember. And I had him on the interviewed,
- 5:45Speaker 3: and he brought his attorney and that there was a
- 5:49Speaker 3: lot of grunting on that one too, every question.
- 5:53Speaker 4: It was a grunt. Not not one of.
- 5:57Speaker 3: My better interviews, I must add, Okay, fair enough with that,
- 6:01Speaker 3: all right, the job, interview, the story, what we're going
- 6:03Speaker 3: to do later on. In the meantime, we've got a
- 6:06Speaker 3: fair amount of news. At the forefront, of course, is
- 6:09Speaker 3: what's happening in Minneapolis. But at the same time there's
- 6:12Speaker 3: a lot going on. Well, first of all, we're waiting
- 6:15Speaker 3: for the Supreme Court today may come down with a
- 6:18Speaker 3: decision as to the power the president has in regards
- 6:22Speaker 3: to tariffs. Does the president have unbridled, uncontrolled tariff powers.
- 6:28Speaker 4: We'll see what the Supreme Court has to say.
- 6:30Speaker 3: In the meantime, let's go through some more news and
- 6:32Speaker 3: there's a lot of it today. Handle on the news
- 6:36Speaker 3: with Amy Neils not here and me lead story.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Let's make a deal. Okay.
- 6:42Speaker 3: So now the bill that was put onto the floor
- 6:49Speaker 3: by Congress, and this had to do with doing an
- 6:54Speaker 3: end around Mike Johnson, who normally decides the speaker decides
- 6:59Speaker 3: what bill is going to even hit the floor for
- 7:01Speaker 3: a vote, and he tried as hard as he could
- 7:03Speaker 3: to make sure that the bill was objections. What do
- 7:09Speaker 3: they call that? I keep on always forgetting that the
- 7:13Speaker 3: name of the procedure. In any case, a bunch of Democrat,
- 7:18Speaker 3: bunch over a dozen House Republicans joined every Democrat to
- 7:22Speaker 3: pass the bill extending the Affordable Care Act subsidies for
- 7:26Speaker 3: three years, exactly what the Democrats wanted. Well, it's passed
- 7:30Speaker 3: in the House, contrary to the leadership and certainly contrary
- 7:33Speaker 3: to what the President wants. It's going to stall in
- 7:36Speaker 3: the Senate probably, and even if it passes the Senate
- 7:39Speaker 3: and the House, it'll be vetoed by the President.
- 7:43Speaker 6: Do you think you to veto it? Yeah, I just
- 7:46Speaker 6: think that's political suicide.
- 7:48Speaker 3: No, whatever Trump does that, nothing is political suicide for
- 7:52Speaker 3: Donald Trump.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Nothing, nothing, nothing, you know.
- 7:55Speaker 3: He said, what was that New York Times interview where
- 7:58Speaker 3: he was asked yesterday? Is there any to what you
- 8:00Speaker 3: can do in foreign affairs? Any limit whatsoever? And he said,
- 8:04Speaker 3: only my morality. I can do whatever I want. And
- 8:09Speaker 3: I've made this point before, and Amy, I know you
- 8:12Speaker 3: and I maybe have disagreed, But give me a number
- 8:15Speaker 3: that you had to guess. The President calls for the
- 8:18Speaker 3: dissolution of Congress because Congress is getting in the way
- 8:22Speaker 3: of his agenda. How many Republicans would vote in favor
- 8:26Speaker 3: of the dissolution of Congress.
- 8:29Speaker 2: They're not going to vote. They wouldn't even be asked
- 8:32Speaker 2: to vote. You're playing the what if game?
- 8:34Speaker 3: Of course, I'm playing the what if game. What do
- 8:36Speaker 3: you think we do? You think I rely on facts
- 8:40Speaker 3: on reality? I mean, the life is a what if game. No,
- 8:44Speaker 3: I am known as the straw man host. The point
- 8:47Speaker 3: I'm making is the point obviously that is a little hyperbolic.
- 8:52Speaker 4: Although there maybe a couple of them.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Is that no matter what the President says, MAGA supporters
- 8:59Speaker 3: and the super concervve members of Congress, which there are plenty,
- 9:02Speaker 3: will back him up, absolutely, back him up, no question.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Even when Constitution clearly calls for Congress to act, they
- 9:11Speaker 3: what they will do is say the President can overrun
- 9:14Speaker 3: or interpret the Constitution as to give himself full power.
- 9:18Speaker 4: That's what he said.
- 9:19Speaker 3: The only thing that stops me from doing anything is
- 9:21Speaker 3: my feelings about it.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Okay.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Can you imagine any other president saying that, I mean,
- 9:27Speaker 3: it would blow up? And this is oh okay, here's
- 9:30Speaker 3: another one.
- 9:31Speaker 4: All right.
- 9:32Speaker 3: So the AACA subsidies American the Affordable Care Act, which Obamacare,
- 9:40Speaker 3: which the Republicans have been fighting since the day it
- 9:43Speaker 3: was passed, bill after bill after bill to kill the pill,
- 9:49Speaker 3: to kill the bill, and so now it was adopted
- 9:54Speaker 3: on the floor for the extension.
- 9:57Speaker 6: Blocked by the Feds Minnesota.
- 10:00Speaker 2: She'll say the FBI has blocked them from investigating the
- 10:04Speaker 2: shooting of a woman by a.
- 10:06Speaker 6: US ICE agent.
- 10:08Speaker 2: The Vice President Vance said the investigation is a federal issue,
- 10:13Speaker 2: and DHS Secretary Christinman basically said the same thing. She
- 10:17Speaker 2: said this is a federal issue, and so they don't
- 10:20Speaker 2: have jurisdiction. Officials have offered differing accounts of what happened.
- 10:25Speaker 2: The Trump administration says the ICE agent was acting in
- 10:27Speaker 2: self defense, but local officials say the woman did not
- 10:31Speaker 2: pose a danger to them.
- 10:33Speaker 3: All right, Coming up at seven twenty, I'm going to
- 10:36Speaker 3: dive into that because life is a lot more complicated
- 10:39Speaker 3: than simple statements.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Jd.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Vance talking about absolute immunity. It's a little more complicated
- 10:45Speaker 3: than that. That's coming up at seven twenty.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Ice agent ided. So the ICE agent who shot the
- 10:54Speaker 2: woman in Minneapolis has been identified, and it turns out
- 11:01Speaker 2: that this guy had been dragged and injured by a
- 11:08Speaker 2: driver during another ICE operation last year. He is an
- 11:14Speaker 2: experienced officer with more than ten years at ICE.
- 11:18Speaker 3: All right, So you have an officer who is being
- 11:22Speaker 3: described as this rogue, renegade cop or ICE agent who
- 11:27Speaker 3: shoots this woman good sort of not out of the blue,
- 11:32Speaker 3: but in self defense according to the government and the
- 11:37Speaker 3: state's according to the Fed, State is saying no, it
- 11:41Speaker 3: was a shooting that was unjustified. Now does that take
- 11:45Speaker 3: into account and think about this, do you think of
- 11:47Speaker 3: it differently than six months ago he was dragged by
- 11:50Speaker 3: a car for one hundred yards, needing dozens of stitches. Yeah,
- 11:57Speaker 3: I think you take that into account. Why, because the
- 12:01Speaker 3: determination of whether or not the killing is justified unless
- 12:05Speaker 3: it is crazy. Of course, shooting someone in the back
- 12:08Speaker 3: that're running away is the put your you put yourself
- 12:12Speaker 3: into the cops position. And whether or not that is
- 12:17Speaker 3: going to be determinative, it's not because it's never going
- 12:20Speaker 3: to go to state court. It's going to go to
- 12:21Speaker 3: federal court. And I'll explain why later on. But yeah, yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 3: I think that would change things. Maybe he's a little
- 12:29Speaker 3: bit more sensitive than other police officers under the circumstances.
- 12:33Speaker 3: And if you were to convict it, now this is
- 12:36Speaker 3: a what if amy. If you were to be convicted
- 12:39Speaker 3: and he was looking at jail time, which he would
- 12:42Speaker 3: be if he was found to have shot unreasonably, is
- 12:45Speaker 3: that a mitigating factor?
- 12:49Speaker 2: Another shooting, another one from Minnesota over to Oregon. There
- 12:55Speaker 2: was there were two people who were shot by Federal
- 12:59Speaker 2: Border Patrol AI in Portland yesterday afternoon. Apparently Home On
- 13:05Speaker 2: Securitiesa's Border Patrol agents were doing a vehicle stop in Portland.
- 13:10Speaker 2: The Stevens said the driver who is a suspected member
- 13:12Speaker 2: of Trenda Arragua, that's the Venezuelan really nasty gang. Attempted
- 13:17Speaker 2: to weaponize his vehicle and run over the agents.
- 13:19Speaker 6: That's when they were shot.
- 13:21Speaker 2: They then took off and then called on one one
- 13:23Speaker 2: on their own and now they're in the hospital recovery.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Okay, not much to say about that.
- 13:32Speaker 6: I haven't said this for a while. California is drought free.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Not a single square mile of the state is categorized
- 13:39Speaker 2: as dry for the first time in twenty twenty five years.
- 13:43Speaker 2: According to the latest US Drought Monitor, zero percent of
- 13:47Speaker 2: the state's total area is experiencing drought conditions.
- 13:51Speaker 4: See I called it.
- 13:53Speaker 3: I said that the drought was going to end or
- 13:56Speaker 3: going to be well, actually I didn't call it.
- 13:58Speaker 4: I won.
- 13:58Speaker 6: I thought you said it was in a forever drought.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Yeah, that's exactly what I said. I was just about
- 14:04Speaker 3: to say, except that I went the other way. And
- 14:08Speaker 3: this does not mean that global warming and does that
- 14:10Speaker 3: mean that drought long term is not going to be here,
- 14:12Speaker 3: But it does come in waves that we know so
- 14:15Speaker 3: drought rainy season. Because the other argument is hurricanes are
- 14:20Speaker 3: more powerful, they're more of them. Floods are bigger, greater,
- 14:25Speaker 3: more water, more dangerous.
- 14:26Speaker 4: That is happening.
- 14:27Speaker 3: We know that, and so just rack one up to
- 14:31Speaker 3: handle being wrong. Now, Am I wrong more than I
- 14:36Speaker 3: am right?
- 14:39Speaker 4: You know what? I really don't want to say, yep,
- 14:42Speaker 4: I certainly am.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Okay, Moving on, Donations are pouring in a GoFundMe campaign
- 14:49Speaker 2: for the family of Renee Good. She's the woman who
- 14:52Speaker 2: was shot and killed by the ice agent in Minneapolis.
- 14:56Speaker 2: The GoFundMe is now up to more than seven hundred
- 14:58Speaker 2: thousand dollars.
- 15:00Speaker 4: It's a big one, and and I want to talk
- 15:02Speaker 4: about that.
- 15:04Speaker 3: We and do we have that for the eight to
- 15:07Speaker 3: fifty segment the gofund me campaign, that would be a
- 15:11Speaker 3: thirty Okay, we have that at Okay, trying to figure
- 15:15Speaker 3: out that we do this on the fly as topics
- 15:18Speaker 3: go in and out and news items come in. So
- 15:21Speaker 3: I mean, this show is.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Clearly the prodcast the latest. We broadcast the latest. Yeah. Yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 4: that's another way of saying we did this on the fly.
- 15:29Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 3: We want to see what's coming in, so we'd and
- 15:31Speaker 3: you see my in depth analysis which people rely on
- 15:36Speaker 3: come up virtually every day.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Okay, Okay, let me write that down. Did you send
- 15:42Speaker 4: me that a thirty segment thing? You already had it
- 15:45Speaker 4: sent yesterday. You got to send it to me again. No,
- 15:47Speaker 4: I have the story, I think, Oh, the updated rundown,
- 15:50Speaker 4: got it? Okay?
- 15:51Speaker 3: Yeah, just give me an updated rundown. Okay, Inside baseball,
- 15:55Speaker 3: Inside baseball.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Moving on an.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Act of s escalation, the Russian Defense Ministry says it
- 16:03Speaker 2: has hit western Ukraine with a nuclear capable intermediate range
- 16:08Speaker 2: ballistic missile. The attack only the second time in the
- 16:12Speaker 2: war that Moscow had fired that type of missile. It's
- 16:14Speaker 2: known as the Orshnik. The choice of western Ukraine as
- 16:19Speaker 2: a target near the border with Poland, which is an
- 16:22Speaker 2: EU and a NATO member, seems to be intended to
- 16:25Speaker 2: send a message to Europe as it strongly backs Kiev
- 16:28Speaker 2: in talks to end the war.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Yeah, while the talks are going on, Russia is attacking
- 16:36Speaker 3: more and more with weaponry that is more and more,
- 16:41Speaker 3: both in terms of numbers and the lethal abilities. I mean,
- 16:46Speaker 3: I didn't launch a nuclear missile, nuclear tit missile, but
- 16:50Speaker 3: they launched the delivery system with this Rishnik Arishnik missile,
- 17:00Speaker 3: and I think it's a ballistic missile. I think anyway.
- 17:03Speaker 3: It's a sends an message, as you said, and Putin
- 17:07Speaker 3: is playing this game.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Oh yes, oh yes, I absolutely want a piece deal.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Have you noticed that the president, our president is no
- 17:16Speaker 3: longer saying how much he believes of Vladimir Putin, what
- 17:19Speaker 3: a great guy Putin is, that he believes Putin over
- 17:23Speaker 3: the intelligence community here in the United States. That's all gone,
- 17:27Speaker 3: and the president realizes what an sob Putin really is
- 17:32Speaker 3: and hopefully does something about it.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Okay, time to talk takeover. Denmark and Greenland's envoys are
- 17:42Speaker 2: in Washington, d C. Denmark's ambassador and Greenland's chief representative
- 17:47Speaker 2: to Washington have met with White House national security officials
- 17:51Speaker 2: to discuss a renewed push by President Trump to acquire Greenland.
- 17:56Speaker 2: They've also held a series of meetings with American lawmakers
- 17:59Speaker 2: there of trying to get lawmaker's help in persuading Trump
- 18:03Speaker 2: to back off his threat to take over the little island.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to meet next
- 18:10Speaker 2: week with Danish officials.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Yeah, this is a fun one. And let me tell
- 18:13Speaker 4: you why it's fun.
- 18:15Speaker 3: The President wants Greenland, and he wants it under any circumstances.
- 18:20Speaker 4: There is talk of buying Greenland.
- 18:23Speaker 3: There is no chance in hell that Denmark is going
- 18:26Speaker 3: to sell Greenland to the United States. I think that's
- 18:31Speaker 3: off the table, which means that the President is intimating
- 18:34Speaker 3: more and more that we will invade Greenland to take
- 18:37Speaker 3: it over. Now I'm going to ask for a figure.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I guess Greenland does not have its own defense forces.
- 18:45Speaker 3: These are Danish forces that in fact guard.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Greenland.
- 18:51Speaker 3: There's some other stuff going on, but we're talking about
- 18:53Speaker 3: defensive Danish army personnel who are on Greenland who would
- 18:59Speaker 3: fight any Okay, numbers, Amy, how many do you think
- 19:03Speaker 3: there are there?
- 19:06Speaker 6: You mean total people or militaries.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Oh, not people, fifty six thousand people, but I'm talking
- 19:09Speaker 3: about Danish. Don't even look at this up because I
- 19:12Speaker 3: want you to really guess the number of Danish army
- 19:17Speaker 3: personnel that are on Greenland for defensive purposes, in other words,
- 19:21Speaker 3: of Greenland gets invaded.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Two hundred, right, it's one hundred to two hundred people.
- 19:26Speaker 4: Oh really, Yeah, you're absolutely right on.
- 19:28Speaker 3: It's one hundred to two hundred, depending on how many
- 19:30Speaker 3: they send over any given time. So the might of
- 19:34Speaker 3: the US Armed services are going to be put to
- 19:38Speaker 3: are going to be invading a country that has one
- 19:41Speaker 3: to two hundred military personnel guarding it. Who do you
- 19:44Speaker 3: think is gonna win on that one?
- 19:46Speaker 1: Huh?
- 19:48Speaker 4: I would love for Greenland to win, to just obliterate them.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's probably an My guess is is probably not
- 19:56Speaker 3: going to happen. No, yeah, not going to happen anyway.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I found that fascinating when I look that up, and
- 20:07Speaker 3: I do not put it past the president. Prior to
- 20:11Speaker 3: the invasion of Venezuela, if you want to call it that,
- 20:15Speaker 3: or the special forces going in and grabbing Maduro, I
- 20:18Speaker 3: thought that was all bluster by the President when he
- 20:21Speaker 3: said boots on the ground, We're going to go in militarily.
- 20:24Speaker 3: I thought it was all bluster. Well, clearly not, and
- 20:27Speaker 3: certainly the rest of the world acknowledges and understands that's
- 20:32Speaker 3: not bluster. The president will do it.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Now Greenland, that is.
- 20:36Speaker 3: On a whole different level because it's part of NATO
- 20:39Speaker 3: and it gets crazy and if that happens or comes
- 20:42Speaker 3: close to happening, you think I'm going to talk about
- 20:45Speaker 3: that or what? All right, and Amy, I'm going to
- 20:49Speaker 3: just start this one because this has to do with
- 20:53Speaker 3: evictions and We talk a lot about evictions here, especially
- 20:56Speaker 3: on a handle on the law. If you're a landlord,
- 20:58Speaker 3: I want you to pay attention to this eviction story.
- 21:02Speaker 4: This may work for you.
- 21:04Speaker 2: A five hundred and fifty pound bear that had been
- 21:07Speaker 2: camped out or living under a home in Alta, Dina
- 21:11Speaker 2: for more than a month has finally been removed.
- 21:14Speaker 6: Poor guy, the.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Homeowner says he's relieved, no more banging under the house
- 21:18Speaker 2: and smelling him and wondering what's going on under there.
- 21:21Speaker 2: That's Ken Johnson, who's the homeowner. The bear was camping
- 21:26Speaker 2: out there. Wildlife officials tried to scare him out. They
- 21:29Speaker 2: used paintball guns, airhorns, but no luck. And then the
- 21:33Speaker 2: Bear League, a nonprofit based in Lake Tahoe, came in
- 21:36Speaker 2: to help and apparently they one of the guys even
- 21:40Speaker 2: crawled into the crawl spot space and shoot him out
- 21:44Speaker 2: and out came the bear.
- 21:46Speaker 6: So he's been evicted.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Yeah, so those people who are looking at evictions and
- 21:50Speaker 3: you have a a tenant who's in pay, it doesn't pay.
- 21:53Speaker 3: And this is handling the log giving me this. Used
- 21:56Speaker 3: paintball guns, use horns. Also, they electrified when the bear
- 22:03Speaker 3: was out electrified the opening, so you may want to
- 22:06Speaker 3: do that. I'll elect try the front door. I mean
- 22:09Speaker 3: this good stuff. This is how you get a ten
- 22:10Speaker 3: and out.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I feel bad for the bear. Bear's fine, Well, you
- 22:16Speaker 2: know you had found a place to hang out for
- 22:18Speaker 2: the winter. Now he asked to go find a new place.
- 22:21Speaker 6: What does that do to them?
- 22:22Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, Okay, all right, Iran does.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Not want you to see what's going on. There's an
- 22:30Speaker 2: internet blackout in Iran. Authorities cut internet access and also
- 22:34Speaker 2: telephone lines immediately after protests in the capital city of
- 22:38Speaker 2: Tehran yesterday and other cities also got underway. The blackout
- 22:43Speaker 2: did not immediately prevent the posting of videos of protests,
- 22:47Speaker 2: which are now into their second week. And they're protesting
- 22:51Speaker 2: because the economy is collapsing and inflations like at forty
- 22:55Speaker 2: percent and people are angry.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that's how you can control a population, or try
- 23:02Speaker 3: to as you cut off internet.
- 23:04Speaker 4: North Korea does this all the time.
- 23:06Speaker 3: It just cuts off internet, where you've got the North
- 23:09Speaker 3: Korean citizens simply not able to use the internet.
- 23:13Speaker 4: China does this.
- 23:14Speaker 3: It can cut off internet because they control the pipeline
- 23:18Speaker 3: coming in.
- 23:19Speaker 4: This is not good for.
- 23:23Speaker 3: The regime and I think it's fair to say of
- 23:25Speaker 3: Iran the Mulahs, they quickly are realizing that they're in trouble,
- 23:30Speaker 3: and so they're allowing women to walk around without a
- 23:33Speaker 3: hey job, for example. They're loosening some of the social mores,
- 23:38Speaker 3: but still want to hang on to as much power
- 23:41Speaker 3: as possible.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Yeah, you may see.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Iran just going the other way. I remember the revolution
- 23:47Speaker 3: brought into theocracy in nineteen seventy nine.
- 23:50Speaker 4: It may go the other way.
- 23:55Speaker 6: Amy Harvey Weinstein might plead guilty.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Apparently he's weighing a potential guilty plea to resolve a
- 24:03Speaker 2: rape charge and to avoid going to trial for a
- 24:07Speaker 2: third time in New York. That's according to his lawyer
- 24:09Speaker 2: and a judge. But the disgraced movie mogul still insists
- 24:14Speaker 2: he never assaulted anyone.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Yeah, there goes the guilty plea.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Because the only way the court accepts a guilty plea
- 24:22Speaker 3: is you say I did it.
- 24:27Speaker 6: So if you plead guilty, can the court not accept
- 24:29Speaker 6: the plea?
- 24:31Speaker 3: If you plead guilty and then say I did it, yeah,
- 24:34Speaker 3: the court is going to say no, thank you, that's
- 24:36Speaker 3: not a guilty plea. So we'll see what happens. I
- 24:39Speaker 3: think for public consumption, he never assaulted anyone. Well, he's
- 24:43Speaker 3: going to trial. It doesn't really matter. He's seventy three
- 24:45Speaker 3: and has gotten a bunch of prison time for charges
- 24:50Speaker 3: all over the country. So he's dying in prison. It's
- 24:55Speaker 3: that simple, no matter what he does.
- 25:00Speaker 4: The trip short.
- 25:01Speaker 2: NASA is going to bring a crew of four astronauts
- 25:04Speaker 2: home from the International Space Station early. They're supposed to
- 25:07Speaker 2: come back in late February. They've been up there since August,
- 25:11Speaker 2: but somebody's got a medical condition, and so they're going
- 25:15Speaker 2: to bring them home probably in the next few days.
- 25:18Speaker 2: During the twenty five year history of the International Space Station,
- 25:21Speaker 2: this is the first time astronauts have returned early because
- 25:24Speaker 2: of a medical issue.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Now there are the other way has happened where astronauts
- 25:30Speaker 3: stay longer than anticipated. We just talked about a group
- 25:34Speaker 3: of astronauts that we're supposed to return to Earth I
- 25:39Speaker 3: think it was two thousand and nine, and have stayed
- 25:42Speaker 3: a little bit longer than anticipated before they're bringing them
- 25:45Speaker 3: down to Earth.
- 25:46Speaker 2: You know what, I always start to take you seriously,
- 25:49Speaker 2: then more stuff comes out of your mouth.
- 25:50Speaker 6: I'm like, wait, oh, he's joking.
- 25:54Speaker 3: And that's why the show works as far as we're concerned.
- 25:57Speaker 3: I don't know about listeners, but we serve have a
- 26:00Speaker 3: rip roaring good time.
- 26:02Speaker 6: Political prisoners are free.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Venezuela has released a number of imprisoned high profile opposition figures,
- 26:11Speaker 2: activist journalists. It's been called a gesture to seek peace
- 26:16Speaker 2: and basically do what Trump wants them to do. President
- 26:19Speaker 2: Trump said the releases came at the request of the
- 26:23Speaker 2: United States, and he says that Venezuela has been great.
- 26:27Speaker 6: Everything we've wanted. They've given us.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Okay, a lot of pieces here, all right, So Maduro's
- 26:34Speaker 3: taken out, leaving the vice president. Legally, if you accept
- 26:39Speaker 3: the Maduro regime as having been legitimately elected, which very
- 26:42Speaker 3: few countries do. This last election, and the president who
- 26:46Speaker 3: had been in touch with Mashado, Maria Maschado, who actually
- 26:50Speaker 3: won the election last time out, or at least her
- 26:52Speaker 3: proxy did, because she was in exile, because they would
- 26:55Speaker 3: have arrested her and probably lost her in jail for
- 26:57Speaker 3: thirty years. Okay, why is the president at not going
- 27:01Speaker 3: to the opposition the legitimately elected new government, which our
- 27:06Speaker 3: government said it was. Here's why, because when you bring
- 27:11Speaker 3: in a new government, keep in mind, what does that mean.
- 27:16Speaker 3: That means you're gonna have new cabinet members, That means
- 27:18Speaker 3: you're gonna have new technocrats. That means you're gonna have
- 27:20Speaker 3: new heads of nationalized companies. And the infrastructure is already
- 27:24Speaker 3: there now it is corrupt, but you've got a vice
- 27:28Speaker 3: president says, oh, oh, we better do what the United
- 27:32Speaker 3: States does. And it's just easier, much easier for the
- 27:36Speaker 3: US to take this ridiculous regime, this corrupt regime, and
- 27:39Speaker 3: turn it around and say, Okay, you're going to do
- 27:42Speaker 3: what we.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Tell you to do.
- 27:43Speaker 3: And effectively, there's a new government in town, and that
- 27:46Speaker 3: is the American government unnationalize the oil industry, for example,
- 27:53Speaker 3: the infrastructure is going to belong to the United States,
- 27:55Speaker 3: or at least controlled by the United States. The oil
- 27:56Speaker 3: is going to be come to the United States. You've
- 27:59Speaker 3: got various other major geopolitical issues because Venezuela is selling
- 28:05Speaker 3: oil to China, to Russia. And now what the president
- 28:11Speaker 3: is stopping that one too, saying you're gonna do what
- 28:14Speaker 3: we want you to do. It's a practical way of
- 28:16Speaker 3: going about it. It is a practical way of going
- 28:18Speaker 3: about it.
- 28:18Speaker 4: And why are they caving?
- 28:20Speaker 3: Well, because when the president says, you don't do it,
- 28:23Speaker 3: we're invading you. And there's no government on the planet
- 28:27Speaker 3: that would do that except the US government. He is
- 28:31Speaker 3: fully prepared to do that and they know it. So
- 28:35Speaker 3: on a practical level, I think it makes a lot.
- 28:38Speaker 3: I think it makes sense to do what he's doing.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Okay, big Bucks earned in Burbank best place to watch
- 28:48Speaker 2: a movie in Los Angeles in twenty twenty five. Apparently
- 28:50Speaker 2: the AMC sixteen in Burbank Deadline since Deadline says that
- 28:55Speaker 2: that is the number one theater at the bottom of
- 28:57Speaker 2: the country, in the country.
- 28:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I haven't been to that one AMC Bourbank, have you.
- 29:04Speaker 3: You know?
- 29:05Speaker 6: I think I have, but I'm I don't.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I don't know for sure. I mean, they're all kind
- 29:09Speaker 2: of the same to me. Yeah, it's in the movie
- 29:11Speaker 2: theaters in Burbank. I think it's probably that one.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Yeah, isn't that the one with the lie down seats,
- 29:16Speaker 3: the reclining seats and then you have food brought to
- 29:19Speaker 3: your to the chair.
- 29:20Speaker 6: I don't think so, but I do like those ones best.
- 29:23Speaker 4: Those are great.
- 29:24Speaker 3: And then you have the servers all have to hunch
- 29:28Speaker 3: down and serve the plates up because you can't. They
- 29:33Speaker 3: can't block the view, which is why so many hunchback
- 29:38Speaker 3: dwarfs work at those theaters, because it just works physiologically
- 29:44Speaker 3: to serve people sitting down.
- 29:46Speaker 4: Okay, Okay, you.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Know, Bill, you've complained a lot that the rides at
- 29:51Speaker 2: Disneyland are just too darn short, don't last long enough.
- 29:55Speaker 6: Well, not this one.
- 29:57Speaker 2: A group of people riding the monorail yesterday. They were
- 30:01Speaker 2: near the park entrance and the Montoreil came to a
- 30:03Speaker 2: dead stop and it didn't start again. Apparently the beam
- 30:08Speaker 2: that the monorail travels along lost power, according to Disneyland.
- 30:11Speaker 2: They didn't say why, but it did, and so about
- 30:14Speaker 2: sixty people were stuck on the monorail for four hours
- 30:18Speaker 2: and then Anaheim fire finally came in and they used
- 30:21Speaker 2: ladders to get them down.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Okay, being a Disneyland a ficionado like you are, I
- 30:26Speaker 3: would use the word fanatic.
- 30:27Speaker 4: Do you think people would.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Be excited now if you had over the speaker system
- 30:33Speaker 3: as they were waiting in line for the Montoreil be
- 30:35Speaker 3: prepared for the next forty five minute monorail ride, how
- 30:38Speaker 3: many people would get aboard?
- 30:41Speaker 4: I know you would. No.
- 30:45Speaker 6: Okay, this was four hours.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Oh that's what I meant, four hour monorail ride.
- 30:50Speaker 2: And it wasn't really ride because they were stuck, but
- 30:52Speaker 2: they did get a unique experience because they got to
- 30:54Speaker 2: climb down ladders and you don't get to do that
- 30:56Speaker 2: every day at Disneyland.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Did I ever tell you?
- 30:58Speaker 3: I think I shared that story that I got stuck
- 31:01Speaker 3: on It's a Small World for forty five minutes.
- 31:05Speaker 4: Right in the middle of the damn thing.
- 31:07Speaker 1: And did they keep the music going?
- 31:09Speaker 3: I was in therapy for years and because every time
- 31:14Speaker 3: I heard that song, I immediately went into PTSD.
- 31:19Speaker 4: You want to get me going, It's a Small World.
- 31:23Speaker 4: This is a true story.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Every year, not that the other ones aren't true, but
- 31:28Speaker 3: every year I host IMC the Lawyer's Philharmonic, as you know,
- 31:33Speaker 3: and I talk about it. And last year it was
- 31:37Speaker 3: last year, or the year before, I think it was
- 31:40Speaker 3: last year, it was a Disney tribute where Disney songs
- 31:45Speaker 3: were played Disney music and it was terrific. And the
- 31:48Speaker 3: last we're up on stage saying goodbye to everybody who
- 31:51Speaker 3: were taking our last bows, and the orchestra breaks into
- 31:56Speaker 3: It's a Small World. People who were on the stage
- 31:59Speaker 3: with me said, I started sweating, literally just pouring a sweat,
- 32:05Speaker 3: and you could see my face turn red, and I
- 32:09Speaker 3: had to get I had to get out of there.
- 32:11Speaker 4: I would have had a nervous breakdown.
- 32:12Speaker 3: You would have seen me on the floor of that stage,
- 32:15Speaker 3: curled up in a fetal position and moaning if I
- 32:18Speaker 3: had stayed a second longer listening to It's a Small World,
- 32:21Speaker 3: Oh Cono. God, I wish I hadn't said that, because
- 32:24Speaker 3: we know what's going to happen next time we do
- 32:28Speaker 3: a Disney story, don't we. I should not have said that.
- 32:32Speaker 2: You're saying that Cono would use that music against you
- 32:36Speaker 2: to create trauma in your life. Oh yes, looks at
- 32:41Speaker 2: me just sitting there all dead pamp reacting like you.
- 32:45Speaker 4: All right, let's do one moren and I think we'll
- 32:47Speaker 4: finish it up.
- 32:49Speaker 6: You are terminated.
- 32:52Speaker 2: The Los Angeles Angels and eight other Major League teams
- 32:55Speaker 2: have terminated their broadcast deals with fan Dual Sports Network
- 32:59Speaker 2: and it's parent company, Main Street Sports Group. According to
- 33:04Speaker 2: the AP Commissioner Rob manfreds to, the league is ready
- 33:08Speaker 2: to produce and distribute the broadcast of all nine teams
- 33:11Speaker 2: if it needs to, said, no matter what happens, whether
- 33:13Speaker 2: it's Main Street, a third party, or MLB media, fans
- 33:17Speaker 2: will have the games.
- 33:20Speaker 3: So and why did they stop broadcasting? Why did they
- 33:24Speaker 3: cut their ties with main Street? Because they didn't pay
- 33:29Speaker 3: their they didn't make their payments. Because this is a
- 33:32Speaker 3: licensing agreement between Major League Baseball and fan duel.
- 33:37Speaker 4: And or is that dual fan? Or is that two fans,
- 33:41Speaker 4: multiple duals, multiple fans?
- 33:44Speaker 3: Ye, yes, exactly, thank you, And you don't pay. Guess
- 33:48Speaker 3: what your contract basically disappears. Boy, there's a there's a
- 33:52Speaker 3: shocker for you. We live in a capitalist society. You
- 33:56Speaker 3: cut a deal, you're supposed to pay, you don't pee,
- 33:58Speaker 3: you don't pay. That's it, it's over. This is kf
- 34:01Speaker 3: I Am six forty.
- 34:04Speaker 4: You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Catch my Show Monday through Friday, six am to nine am,
- 34:09Speaker 3: and anytime on demand
- 34:11Speaker 4: On the iHeartRadio app.
