- 0:03Speaker 1: I think baseball on the weekend.
- 0:07Speaker 2: From what.
- 0:09Speaker 3: From one clip that I think went more viral than
- 0:12Speaker 3: anything else in sports from the weekend, even more viral. Okay,
- 0:21Speaker 3: it's always a success if you can get everyone to
- 0:24Speaker 3: agree on something, and it is often the most difficult
- 0:29Speaker 3: thing to do in life and in sports. But one
- 0:32Speaker 3: way to unite sports is to show a clip of
- 0:35Speaker 3: someone stealing a ball from a child. And that is
- 0:39Speaker 3: what happened. And it wasn't just a grab. It was
- 0:42Speaker 3: actually running over to the dad, threatening him, and then
- 0:46Speaker 3: the dad showing his son a good lesson, give the
- 0:51Speaker 3: ball to the psychopath because we'll go viral and we'll
- 0:54Speaker 3: get way more on the back end. And then they
- 0:56Speaker 3: did aj good plan and good life lesson?
- 1:01Speaker 2: Is it, though?
- 1:01Speaker 4: Why I wouldn't have given it back? Why why are
- 1:03Speaker 4: we giving it back because she came over and yelled
- 1:05Speaker 4: at him? I don't understand why Why would we give
- 1:08Speaker 4: it back like I would have been? Why not just
- 1:10Speaker 4: I got the ball? It's my ball? Why are we
- 1:14Speaker 4: giving it back? I mean, the Phillies made it right
- 1:16Speaker 4: by doing what they did, But what if the Phillies don't.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Know about this and the kid loses the ball? Why
- 1:21Speaker 2: are we not? Why did the dad give the ball?
- 1:24Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:25Speaker 4: I mean the lady came over and yelled at me.
- 1:26Speaker 4: I would have been like, so what, yeah, I got
- 1:28Speaker 4: the ball.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Cool.
- 1:28Speaker 4: You can yell at me all you want, but I'm
- 1:30Speaker 4: still gonna have the ball. And you're yelling and you
- 1:32Speaker 4: still look like an idiot. But why reward her by
- 1:35Speaker 4: giving her the ball?
- 1:37Speaker 1: There's physical contact too.
- 1:40Speaker 4: I just why reward her? I don't get why why
- 1:42Speaker 4: he rewarded her. I would have been like, uh no,
- 1:43Speaker 4: it's my ball. I got it. I got a far
- 1:45Speaker 4: and square. It's my ball in my hand and you
- 1:48Speaker 4: can't take it and if you try then we're gonna
- 1:51Speaker 4: have bigger problems with security. But why that was the
- 1:54Speaker 4: one thing I didn't understand.
- 1:56Speaker 1: What would you have done? Kratz?
- 1:58Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:59Speaker 4: I mean right now, like today, if that would happened
- 2:02Speaker 4: to me, I'd be like, here you go, here's the ball.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Like you know, I don't need I have like a
- 2:08Speaker 4: thousand in my garage. Like but if I had never
- 2:12Speaker 4: gotten a baseball before at that age, if that kid's ten,
- 2:17Speaker 4: I would have there was no chance I would have
- 2:19Speaker 4: ever get gotten rid of that ball, like a foul
- 2:22Speaker 4: ball at ten years old, let alone a home run
- 2:24Speaker 4: by your team at an away park.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You're miserable.
- 2:27Speaker 4: You live in hot Florida and you get a home
- 2:29Speaker 4: run ball from Harrison Bader. No, I'm definitely keeping that.
- 2:34Speaker 4: That lady's never getting it.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Marlins gave a little gift package. Harrison Bader met up
- 2:38Speaker 3: with him after. There was a great photoshop chop by
- 2:42Speaker 3: somebody showing Bader hand the bat to the kid, and
- 2:45Speaker 3: then they photoshopped.
- 2:49Speaker 1: In there say that's mine too.
- 2:53Speaker 2: She wants it all so aj.
- 2:56Speaker 3: I mean, it looked like she was potentially ready to
- 2:58Speaker 3: throw a punch. You just take the punch her, go
- 3:00Speaker 3: to prison for a while, and keep the baseball.
- 3:02Speaker 4: I mean, if the ball that much, I don't know.
- 3:06Speaker 4: I mean, if if the ball means that much to her,
- 3:07Speaker 4: then I mean, but I mean I would have probably
- 3:10Speaker 4: stood up a little bit more than what the guy did.
- 3:12Speaker 4: I wouldn't have just handed it over so quickly. I
- 3:14Speaker 4: would have at least said, like, why are we just
- 3:16Speaker 4: bowing down? Because she came and yelled at me, I mean, yeah,
- 3:19Speaker 4: yelled at all the time. What's the big deal.
- 3:23Speaker 2: At me? So what it was not her ball, not
- 3:26Speaker 2: her ball.
- 3:27Speaker 3: To have No, it was not, and the fact that
- 3:30Speaker 3: she lost that on it then goes over and sees
- 3:32Speaker 3: a child with a ball. It's just it's a disaster
- 3:34Speaker 3: and that's why it won't.
- 3:37Speaker 4: She got killed on social media. She should have and
- 3:39Speaker 4: now there's Halloween costumes over and all that stuff. But
- 3:41Speaker 4: I mean, it's just a bad look. The ball doesn't
- 3:44Speaker 4: mean that much to her. If she maybe would have
- 3:47Speaker 4: gone over and asked nicely, I definitely would have thought
- 3:49Speaker 4: about it differently.
- 3:50Speaker 2: But coming and challenging, No, that's that's no.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Well, good job by the teams to get it done. Now,
- 3:57Speaker 3: let's get to the races. Charge out, raise your hand
- 4:05Speaker 3: if you think that the National League wildcard is done right,
- 4:09Speaker 3: because we had the weekend with the Reds and Mets.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Reds took one. We're good there, Okay, cool, So then
- 4:14Speaker 3: let's go right to the American League a jay any
- 4:17Speaker 3: updated thoughts after the weekend. Nice bounce back from Seattle
- 4:19Speaker 3: in the last couple of games to bludge in the Braves.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah, uh no.
- 4:24Speaker 4: I think the wildcard now is a little bit more
- 4:26Speaker 4: interesting just because one of the Mariners you know, are there,
- 4:30Speaker 4: but also the Rangers are there. There's a bunch of
- 4:35Speaker 4: teams that are involved here. I just don't understand why.
- 4:38Speaker 4: You know, if the Astros would just win a game
- 4:40Speaker 4: or two here and there, then it would be a
- 4:41Speaker 4: different story. We wouldn't even be really talking about this.
- 4:43Speaker 4: But I still think the Mariners get in. I don't
- 4:45Speaker 4: think the Rangers have enough. I don't think the Royals
- 4:47Speaker 4: have enough. You can take away Tampa. There's too many
- 4:50Speaker 4: teams in front of them, So I don't know. I
- 4:52Speaker 4: still think the teams are set. It's pretty much locked
- 4:55Speaker 4: into the way it's going to be for me, the
- 4:56Speaker 4: way it looks right now, I mean, this is, this
- 5:00Speaker 4: is what we want, right I guess the most interesting
- 5:03Speaker 4: thing on the weekend wouldn't be the most interesting thing
- 5:06Speaker 4: if it was a closer race, like we need more
- 5:08Speaker 4: playoff spots and then Kulla Deville wouldn't capture the spotlight.
- 5:12Speaker 4: But I think this is the worst case scenario for
- 5:16Speaker 4: a big time race. Is the Mariners bounce back two
- 5:19Speaker 4: games to end their road trip. It almost looked like
- 5:22Speaker 4: I get it, they scored runs, so I'm over dramatizing
- 5:26Speaker 4: how bad their road trip was, but it almost looked
- 5:29Speaker 4: like they were like, we're going home.
- 5:33Speaker 2: We're going home. Let's start scoring runs.
- 5:35Speaker 4: It's totally fine because, I mean, Waltrip's been nasty and
- 5:38Speaker 4: they got to him. And so I think Seattle just
- 5:41Speaker 4: this is why it's so tough to make up more
- 5:43Speaker 4: than three games at the end of the season. I mean,
- 5:45Speaker 4: the Rays are already four games out, they've lost three
- 5:49Speaker 4: since they played. They caught the Mariners at a good time.
- 5:52Speaker 4: I think I think the Rangers could have a shot.
- 5:56Speaker 4: I just feel like the Mariners are going home. They
- 5:58Speaker 4: got wu tonight. I just think it's going to be
- 6:01Speaker 4: too much if they win tonight, and you know, the Rangers,
- 6:03Speaker 4: the Rangers can't lose, and that's a tough spot to
- 6:05Speaker 4: be in.
- 6:07Speaker 3: So we all agree that if we had to guess
- 6:09Speaker 3: right now, we think Seattle is riding this one to
- 6:12Speaker 3: the finish line in a playoff spot. Then Kratz mentioned
- 6:17Speaker 3: who he thinks is the biggest threat, aja biggest threat
- 6:21Speaker 3: to Seattle if they stumble again.
- 6:24Speaker 4: It's got to be the Rangers if they can figure
- 6:26Speaker 4: it out. But I just I don't think that they're
- 6:28Speaker 4: going to be able to do it either.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Cl Reagan's is coming back for Casey Nope.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Don't score. They don't score.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Look at run differential doesn't mean anything until you want
- 6:42Speaker 4: to make a point. If you're trying to like head
- 6:44Speaker 4: to head, who like the Rangers? The Rangers score if
- 6:48Speaker 4: they can put together two hot weeks. Hey, you know
- 6:51Speaker 4: what that offense might be able to might be able
- 6:54Speaker 4: to carry him, or that pitching has been legit. Oh wait,
- 6:59Speaker 4: now they lost Vivaldi. That's why it's so tough for
- 7:02Speaker 4: the Rangers to come back in this. But if there's
- 7:06Speaker 4: a team, I don't see how it's the Royals. I
- 7:09Speaker 4: don't see how the Royals can ride. You know, Bobby
- 7:13Speaker 4: Witt and Vinnie p the only guys that are producing
- 7:16Speaker 4: runs for their team. Everybody else is not not holding there,
- 7:22Speaker 4: not holding up there into the bargain.

- 7:55Speaker 4: them on our little electric grill. Canapees so mac and cheese.
- 7:58Speaker 4: That was dinner for four survived off Omaha Steaks. It
- 8:01Speaker 4: still has a special place in my heart.

- 8:25Speaker 1: Dig In.
- 8:27Speaker 3: That's true, very very very top heavy. Bobby Wit missed
- 8:31Speaker 3: the past couple of games too with the backspasms, so
- 8:34Speaker 3: they've gone through it. Lugo's hurt, obviously, every team's got
- 8:39Speaker 3: their injuries. It's more of the timing at this point
- 8:41Speaker 3: for them. So I'm with you, guys. I think Seattle's
- 8:44Speaker 3: going to be able to finish this thing and they'll
- 8:45Speaker 3: be playing much better ball at home. Like Jim Boden
- 8:48Speaker 3: mentioned last week, who made the schedule and punished the
- 8:51Speaker 3: team that has to travel the most at the end
- 8:53Speaker 3: of the year.
- 8:57Speaker 4: The people in the isn't it? Isn't it a couple?
- 9:00Speaker 4: Don't they make it at their kitchen table and Middle
- 9:02Speaker 4: America or that doesn't happen anymore.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Is it still that little couple or did they hand
- 9:07Speaker 3: it over to AI?
- 9:10Speaker 4: Well, then AI hates them for putting. Was it nineteen
- 9:13Speaker 4: games to the East Coast in like a twenty eight
- 9:17Speaker 4: day period.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Yeah, they were feeling it.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Did the time zone stuff ever affect you, like AJ
- 9:25Speaker 3: when you, you know, would go on the West coast
- 9:27Speaker 3: and that you're just bouncing around. Did that stuff affect
- 9:30Speaker 3: you a lot in terms of your performance? Did you
- 9:31Speaker 3: feel like it was a hindrance?
- 9:34Speaker 2: Oh? The only time it would catch me.
- 9:36Speaker 4: I always felt like was when I played in San
- 9:38Speaker 4: Francisco and we went east and we had the day game,
- 9:41Speaker 4: so you would get there, say you got there it
- 9:43Speaker 4: was a Friday, Saturday, Sunday and you had a Saturday
- 9:46Speaker 4: Sunday day game, and you got there Thursday night, and
- 9:49Speaker 4: then Friday played Friday night, and then the Saturday Sunday
- 9:51Speaker 4: was when it caught me. Going west was never a
- 9:53Speaker 4: big deal because you always I always tried to stay
- 9:56Speaker 4: somewhat on the same time, so it didn't really affect
- 9:59Speaker 4: me as much. And I was more of a night
- 10:00Speaker 4: person anyway, so it was like, oh, the league game, fine,
- 10:02Speaker 4: I'm good with that. It was more going east the
- 10:05Speaker 4: day games that would catch you, especially from the West.
- 10:08Speaker 4: If you had to go west to east, that was
- 10:09Speaker 4: when you're like, whoa, this is different because your body's
- 10:11Speaker 4: telling you it's ten am and it's kickoff time.
- 10:14Speaker 3: And that's what Seattle has gone through multiple times here
- 10:18Speaker 3: in the last few weeks. So that's that's the toughest test,
- 10:21Speaker 3: right krats for this team, and you know you're at
- 10:24Speaker 3: the end of the season, so guys are feeling a
- 10:26Speaker 3: little bit more the ones that are healthy and playing.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, Ryan Dimisch came on and said how
- 10:31Speaker 4: much cal Raley does and this dude, like, I get it.
- 10:35Speaker 4: He's not catching every day, He's in a lineup every day.
- 10:38Speaker 4: And if AJ says that west to east is what
- 10:42Speaker 4: what would hit him, like, these guys have these guys
- 10:46Speaker 4: have been pushing and you're you're out there for a
- 10:48Speaker 4: long time, you're out on the East Coast, you're in
- 10:50Speaker 4: that different time zone for a long time. So it's
- 10:55Speaker 4: it's tough to it's tough to connect with the fact
- 10:57Speaker 4: that guys are playing every day, this this lineup. Ryan
- 11:01Speaker 4: Dimish said the same thing too, He said, this lineup
- 11:04Speaker 4: plays all the time. I don't think that's as much
- 11:07Speaker 4: of an issue as like, because of good teams, the
- 11:09Speaker 4: best players play, and I just I think it is
- 11:13Speaker 4: a real problem when you're doing that in August, maybe
- 11:17Speaker 4: majorly Baseball should look into not doing that, you know,
- 11:20Speaker 4: but once a month.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you saw Seattle last week against Tampa
- 11:27Speaker 3: Bay and they were running through them, and then Tampa
- 11:29Speaker 3: Bay this weekend got swept by Cleveland. You're like, oh,
- 11:33Speaker 3: they're okay, they're not great. They didn't suddenly catch it,
- 11:38Speaker 3: but I think it had been seven in a row
- 11:41Speaker 3: and then they crumbled again. So anyway, if anyone else
- 11:44Speaker 3: has thoughts, that's where we're at right now. It's close
- 11:47Speaker 3: enough to be a cool race. We still have a
- 11:50Speaker 3: few weeks to go in the season. It's close enough
- 11:52Speaker 3: that if Seattle stumbles, we could have some action. Nobody
- 11:55Speaker 3: else really is in a stumbling position.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Can they catch the Astra as well?
- 12:03Speaker 3: They could? Will they I'm gonna say probably not, just
- 12:07Speaker 3: playing the probability game, probably not. I mean, do you
- 12:10Speaker 3: think and we'll talk about them later, but do you
- 12:12Speaker 3: think the Yankees can catch the Blue Jays? They're only
- 12:14Speaker 3: two games back. I mean, there's still divisional races that
- 12:16Speaker 3: can get interesting.
- 12:18Speaker 2: So then why do we talk about the wildcard?
- 12:20Speaker 3: Because that's who's in and who's not, So I think
- 12:23Speaker 3: that matters more right. I mean two years ago the
- 12:26Speaker 3: Rangers had the division two and a half game lead,
- 12:31Speaker 3: week to go blow it end up winning the World Series.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Diamondbacks get in as a wildcard team when and when
- 12:38Speaker 3: the National League side, So for me, who's getting in
- 12:43Speaker 3: is much more interesting now. Seating and all of that
- 12:46Speaker 3: is cool. And we're going to talk about it with
- 12:48Speaker 3: the Dodgers because they're gonna have to play a wildcard round.
- 12:50Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean that's where it's a hotter conversation.
- 12:53Speaker 3: If there's a pretty good team like Seattle or the
- 12:55Speaker 3: Mets and they're getting bounced, aj aren't you much more
- 12:58Speaker 3: into that storyline than you know who's taking the division
- 13:01Speaker 3: or the third seed versus the fourth seed.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Well, the divisions matter because you get a buy. So yeah,
- 13:07Speaker 4: the division is important. Dodgers Padres is important because it's
- 13:10Speaker 4: gonna determine who you have to play in the first round.
- 13:13Speaker 4: And I don't think the Dodgers or the Padres are
- 13:15Speaker 4: getting a buy. So would you rather play the Mets
- 13:19Speaker 4: or would you rather play Who's who's the other seed,
- 13:22Speaker 4: the Cubs Cububs?
- 13:23Speaker 2: You rather play the Mets with the Cubs. That's where
- 13:25Speaker 2: that matters.
- 13:26Speaker 4: And you know, either both of them are you know,
- 13:28Speaker 4: one might get a home field the other one won't.
- 13:31Speaker 4: So I mean, yeah, that stuff matter. The seeding matters
- 13:33Speaker 4: for sure. Who you play, who you match up with,
- 13:35Speaker 4: definitely matters, because as we've seen, the Phillies can't win
- 13:38Speaker 4: in city field, so somehow they get to play the Mets,
- 13:41Speaker 4: they might be in trouble.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Yeah, not saying it doesn't matter, just saying it's more
- 13:45Speaker 3: interesting if a team suddenly gets bounced.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I mean, Seattle's been that team the last couple of years.
- 13:50Speaker 1: You think they're going to get in and then they
- 13:52Speaker 1: miss out by a game.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Hey, while we have one minute, Trey Turner's out krats
- 13:58Speaker 3: are they concerned miss six weeks with a pulled hamstring
- 14:01Speaker 3: last season? Not necessarily as serious, but it's a right
- 14:05Speaker 3: hamstring strain. And we're on September eighth, now on the calendar.
- 14:10Speaker 4: What are trays? Two superpowers, hits and speed. You take
- 14:15Speaker 4: one of them away, your level of concern is huge.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Even if he's back in let's say he's back before
- 14:21Speaker 4: the playoffs, that's about three weeks.
- 14:24Speaker 2: You're not. You can't push it.
- 14:26Speaker 4: So you're talking about a automatic stealing threat that becomes
- 14:30Speaker 4: an automatic.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Can't steal threat. So yeah, it's huge.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Hey, we're back.
- 14:37Speaker 3: A little bit of Houston. Astro's injury news not great.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Spencer Araghedty's gonna miss the rest of the season, and
- 14:42Speaker 3: actually we learned about a couple relievers too that'll miss
- 14:45Speaker 3: the rest of the regular season. So here's the news
- 14:48Speaker 3: on Araghedty. Ucl intact flex or mass pretty inflamed. This
- 14:51Speaker 3: from Chandeler Room. They're going to reimage a couple of weeks,
- 14:53Speaker 3: but they do not think it will require surgery, and
- 14:56Speaker 3: he will not pitch for the rest of the season.
- 15:00Speaker 3: With Bennett's SUSA and Caleb art Right, both of them
- 15:04Speaker 3: are also toes for the rest of the regular season.
- 15:08Speaker 3: At least.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I think there's a chance maybe one.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Of them or both could pop up at some point
- 15:14Speaker 3: in the playoffs, but not for sure.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Or tried to pitch through it the other day against
- 15:18Speaker 4: the Yankees, and.
- 15:21Speaker 2: That was not it.
- 15:22Speaker 4: I think I think Grisham got them to right want
- 15:27Speaker 4: to cutter, Yeah, that's I think. I think then any
- 15:31Speaker 4: time you get you lose anybody from their bullpen, that's
- 15:35Speaker 4: tough because you're already down big, big piece with hater.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, Dana Brown GM said best case scenario
- 15:43Speaker 3: for calebort Is coming in the postseason, and same for
- 15:49Speaker 3: Bennett Sussa. He said, similar scenario. I mean, where's your
- 15:52Speaker 3: circle of trust at with the Astros, AJ, It's gotta
- 15:56Speaker 3: be small.
- 15:57Speaker 2: It's not very high. It's not very high right now.
- 15:59Speaker 2: They're too banged up.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Their offenses trying to get it going, but their their
- 16:03Speaker 4: pitching is just taking hit after hit after hit. I mean,
- 16:06Speaker 4: I don't know how many guys they have in Triple A.
- 16:07Speaker 4: They can come up and replicate the innings they've got
- 16:10Speaker 4: out of their bullpen, but they need them.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Yeah, getting through October icy at that group right.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Now, Pimbrol time.
- 16:19Speaker 3: True. Did you guys see some of these nasty catches
- 16:24Speaker 3: from the weekend? Saddan Rafaela. I mean, the same game
- 16:28Speaker 3: is impressive where you get to that probably belong in
- 16:31Speaker 3: the top ten for the year. But then also Blaze
- 16:35Speaker 3: Alexander aj think has been playing outfield for a few
- 16:38Speaker 3: days and he's like, yeah, I got this, no big deal.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Yeah, there are some good ones. Corbyn Carroll got robbed
- 16:44Speaker 4: and then his partner and crime got him back, so
- 16:47Speaker 4: it was a good one. Rafaela, This is the same
- 16:49Speaker 4: game man using defense Kenny Lofton style right there, and
- 16:57Speaker 4: then Bregnant thinks he's got.
- 16:58Speaker 3: One he got turned around.
- 17:03Speaker 4: It makes me feel like every fence should be this height.
- 17:06Speaker 4: I mean, it's something rarely happens, but when it does happen,
- 17:11Speaker 4: everybody wants to see a home run robbery. I just
- 17:14Speaker 4: I don't know. I guess you can't make every every
- 17:16Speaker 4: field uniform like that, but I think that's like the
- 17:19Speaker 4: perfect height. What is that like eight or nine foot?
- 17:24Speaker 3: What do you guys think in that range?
- 17:26Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like eight feet, But do you see the
- 17:28Speaker 4: one in the in the White Sox game and the
- 17:29Speaker 4: Cardinal and the Tigers.
- 17:32Speaker 2: It's a good one too, I think, yeah, Robertson.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Yeah, leftfield corner. Yeah, I mean, I'm with you.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Though, as many parks as possible to be at a
- 17:42Speaker 3: height where it's possible to rob a home run, we
- 17:46Speaker 3: can keep the Green Monster the way it is. But
- 17:48Speaker 3: for most parks, I think it's important. I know at
- 17:50Speaker 3: least one park did do that change. I think it
- 17:52Speaker 3: was Miami that shortened some fences at one and that
- 17:57Speaker 3: was part of the reason why.
- 17:58Speaker 1: It's one of the most exciting plays in We spend
- 18:04Speaker 1: a lot of time on the road.

- 18:15Speaker 1: does that stand for?

- 19:02Speaker 3: Keep your data safe. Well, if you're in Baltimore, you're
- 19:15Speaker 3: depressed about the Orioles this season, but you at least
- 19:18Speaker 3: enjoyed most of the weekends. Those were some exciting finishes.
- 19:21Speaker 3: They were also celebrating the Ironman streak for cal Ripken.
- 19:24Speaker 3: But aj do losses matter in terms of how you
- 19:29Speaker 3: lose For a team like that Yamamoto no hitter went
- 19:32Speaker 3: out to spare and they end up losing the damn game.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Does that bite a little bit more or do you
- 19:39Speaker 3: forget about it by the next day.
- 19:41Speaker 2: No, no matter what people say.
- 19:42Speaker 4: When you win a game for eight innings, that's why
- 19:44Speaker 4: closers are so important, and you lose a game in
- 19:47Speaker 4: the ninth inning, it hurts more because you're everybody on
- 19:50Speaker 4: the team and the poor guy who loses the game
- 19:52Speaker 4: is the closer. Everyone's like, man, we he twenty four guys.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Twenty five guys played their asses off to get us
- 19:57Speaker 4: in a position and then this guy blew it. It's
- 20:01Speaker 4: not always the guy's fault, but you know, Miyamamoto goes
- 20:03Speaker 4: eight and two thirds until Matt Holliday hits the whole
- 20:05Speaker 4: runoff of them. But yeah, these hurt, man, these hurt
- 20:10Speaker 4: when the closer blows a game. I'm sorry it does.
- 20:13Speaker 4: Excuse me, it does hurt a little bit more than
- 20:15Speaker 4: just a regular loss. Jackson Holliday, But I knew what
- 20:18Speaker 4: you meant and totally like like you have. And then
- 20:24Speaker 4: it's also taught you talk about like setting yourself up
- 20:27Speaker 4: for the next day.
- 20:29Speaker 2: You brought your closer in.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Sometimes when it's not this case where it was a
- 20:32Speaker 4: no hitter that they lost, you're bringing in your eighth
- 20:35Speaker 4: inning guy. You're winning the game, and you've used those guys.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Maybe it's back to back days. Maybe they're down then
- 20:41Speaker 4: the next day and so you're like, feels like we
- 20:44Speaker 4: gotta climb a little bit of a hill to win
- 20:46Speaker 4: the next game. It doesn't you don't go back to
- 20:49Speaker 4: it you know, you don't go back to a loss
- 20:51Speaker 4: in June part way through September and go, man, if
- 20:55Speaker 4: we would have had that one. You know, there's a
- 20:56Speaker 4: few that you lost, but in the moment, it is
- 20:59Speaker 4: definitely lead to moralizing.
- 21:02Speaker 3: That was a crazy game for those that stuck around,
- 21:05Speaker 3: And obviously, even if you were an Orioles fan, you
- 21:07Speaker 3: were staying because you want to witness a no hitter,
- 21:09Speaker 3: and they gave him a big ovation when he walked off.
- 21:11Speaker 3: It's entertaining. It's a great sign for the Dodgers. Here's
- 21:14Speaker 3: the thing, aj if you're looking at some individual players
- 21:17Speaker 3: and you know that the postseason obviously ends up, you know,
- 21:20Speaker 3: becoming its own version of a marathon, but not the
- 21:23Speaker 3: regular season marathon. So you don't have to throw out
- 21:25Speaker 3: your five starter, your your back end of your bullpend
- 21:28Speaker 3: that much. You're like, okay, I got a great start
- 21:30Speaker 3: from Yamamoto showy Otani was picking up steam as he
- 21:34Speaker 3: was going along with his outing. Mookie's swinging a much
- 21:37Speaker 3: better bat these days, Freddy's looking good. Otani had a
- 21:40Speaker 3: big day yesterday. Like, there's a lot of positives. The
- 21:43Speaker 3: negative for them is they're gonna have to play a
- 21:45Speaker 3: Wildcard series. They're too far back of Philadelphia. They're four
- 21:48Speaker 3: and a half games back, I believe, and they're losing
- 21:50Speaker 3: the season series with one more series to go against them.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Yeah, and uh Kershaw pitched well for him yes yesterday,
- 21:58Speaker 4: So I mean there's a lot to look forward to.
- 22:00Speaker 4: The problem is, like we talked about, they're only one
- 22:02Speaker 4: game up. They're only one game up on the Padres.
- 22:04Speaker 4: They got to get it going. They got to solidify
- 22:06Speaker 4: that home field for the for the wild card round
- 22:09Speaker 4: and because they're not going to have it in the
- 22:10Speaker 4: next round no matter what, So they got to figure
- 22:12Speaker 4: out a way to solidify home field, be at home
- 22:16Speaker 4: for those three games. And right now you know they're
- 22:18Speaker 4: lined up to play the Mets. That's going to be
- 22:20Speaker 4: all the travel for the Mets to have to go
- 22:23Speaker 4: across country.
- 22:23Speaker 2: But we'll see. I don't know.
- 22:25Speaker 4: The Dodgers are still the Dodgers until someone beats them.
- 22:27Speaker 4: For me, until someone knocks them out of the playoffs,
- 22:29Speaker 4: there's still the Dodgers. They're still the world champions and
- 22:32Speaker 4: they're still defending, and they still have the talent that
- 22:35Speaker 4: the better team went through twenty six, went through forty
- 22:37Speaker 4: than any other organization. I don't have the exact stats,
- 22:41Speaker 4: but as Otani's innings go deeper, as he throws more
- 22:48Speaker 4: in as starts, it'll be interesting to see how they
- 22:51Speaker 4: use him in the playoffs as a pitcher, because I
- 22:53Speaker 4: get it, he has to start. That's not what I'm debating.
- 22:56Speaker 4: I'm debating the fact that the day he pitches and
- 23:00Speaker 4: the day after he pitches offensively. I wish I had
- 23:04Speaker 4: a tweet that I read it. But offensively his numbers
- 23:07Speaker 4: are worse than the other three days or four days
- 23:10Speaker 4: from when he's not. You know, if they're going six
- 23:12Speaker 4: or seven days, five or six days rest, those other
- 23:17Speaker 4: days he hits better. So it'll be interesting in the playoffs.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Are you hurting your offense a little bit if he
- 23:24Speaker 4: throws a five inning game? If he throws four innings,
- 23:28Speaker 4: is it better? Should he just be three inning opener?
- 23:31Speaker 4: So to me, that's something to look forward to. Because
- 23:33Speaker 4: you saw on Sunday he broke out and had two homers.
- 23:38Speaker 4: It's really how it's been going for him around his starts.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Wait, but explain this to me, because he pitched Friday
- 23:47Speaker 3: and yes, he went three and two thirds was I
- 23:49Speaker 3: think seventy let's see seventy pitches, five ks.
- 23:53Speaker 1: What was hitting one O one or something towards the
- 23:55Speaker 1: end of that one?
- 23:55Speaker 2: Look good?
- 23:57Speaker 3: Yeah? And then two days later as a massive game.
- 24:00Speaker 1: So you're saying, if he.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Goes okay pitches and the day after his offensive production
- 24:06Speaker 4: has declined, And obviously I'm just saying this, I should,
- 24:09Speaker 4: I should have the numbers in front of me. But
- 24:12Speaker 4: then the next the next three days before he starts again,
- 24:16Speaker 4: then are his best offensive days. Do they try to
- 24:19Speaker 4: figure that out in their playoff rotation when he throws?
- 24:26Speaker 2: Or is it it doesn't really matter? Yeah?
- 24:29Speaker 3: Would you mess around with that at all?
- 24:30Speaker 4: Or that's getting just be real careful with when you
- 24:33Speaker 4: pitch him. I mean, it's not starting game one, it's
- 24:36Speaker 4: gonna be on motor. He's probably not a certain Game
- 24:37Speaker 4: two or game three in the first series, So.
- 24:41Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 24:41Speaker 4: I think you have to play it out and see
- 24:43Speaker 4: where your your depth lies. That's that's how I would
- 24:45Speaker 4: That's how I would look at it if I was
- 24:47Speaker 4: if I was to dodge read it front off. I
- 24:51Speaker 4: read it. I read it on Friday, he played his game,
- 24:55Speaker 4: and like the weekend like played out exactly to it,
- 24:58Speaker 4: Like I think he had one hit in the first
- 24:59Speaker 4: two game and then the last game he had a
- 25:02Speaker 4: massive game. It's not it wasn't anything written by the
- 25:06Speaker 4: Dodgers or anything like that, and it's something that is
- 25:09Speaker 4: interesting to look at. It's interesting to follow the rest
- 25:12Speaker 4: of the season, the rest of his starts.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I agree.
- 25:16Speaker 3: I mean, if you get deeper into the postseason, you
- 25:19Speaker 3: can pitch him on a day before the off day.
- 25:21Speaker 3: That would help, right if those numbers are playing out.
- 25:25Speaker 4: And your bullpen would be set in that sense, your
- 25:29Speaker 4: bullpen would be set. Hey, it's an off day, everybody,
- 25:31Speaker 4: everybody goes, so we only need three out of show.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Hey.
- 25:34Speaker 4: But right now, the Dodgers bullpen needs to get it together.
- 25:39Speaker 4: And I think some guys are getting healthy, but they
- 25:43Speaker 4: got to get it together this last month, this last
- 25:45Speaker 4: three weeks of the season.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm less worried about the offense now, AJ, I
- 25:49Speaker 3: don't know how you feel. I mean, some of the
- 25:51Speaker 3: stars are looking like stars you're gonna have. I think
- 25:53Speaker 3: Munsey and Edmund be big factors for them in October.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Pitching wise, you paid a lot of money for Tanner Scott.
- 26:00Speaker 3: It's been a rough year for him.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Yeah, So Zaki is not there. Glass Now has heard again? Right,
- 26:07Speaker 4: I just yeah, the pitching is what worries you about
- 26:10Speaker 4: the Dodgers. You can say that about the Padres. You
- 26:12Speaker 4: can say they're pitching worries you. You can say that
- 26:14Speaker 4: about a lot of these teams, the Cubs. Do you
- 26:16Speaker 4: trust the Cubs pitching? I mean there's a lot of
- 26:19Speaker 4: teams that you can look at and say, do you
- 26:20Speaker 4: trust them? The Met's pitching? Do you trust them other
- 26:22Speaker 4: than the rookies? So I think this is a question
- 26:25Speaker 4: for for not just the Dodgers, but for the whole league.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Kratz uh Friday, Glass Now was scratched, right, was
- 26:32Speaker 3: it Friday with the back tightness?
- 26:38Speaker 2: Oh? Okay.
- 26:39Speaker 4: I thought it was just a Oh Tony had his
- 26:41Speaker 4: like he had a cold symptoms or he had something.
- 26:44Speaker 4: And I thought he just got pushed. I didn't know
- 26:47Speaker 4: he got he got scratched.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Not what you want to say, No, not what you
- 26:52Speaker 1: want to see.
- 26:53Speaker 3: And playing to A J's point about getting home field,
- 26:58Speaker 3: the Padres really should be thinking about that. They have
- 27:01Speaker 3: the fifth best home record in baseball. They're forty three
- 27:03Speaker 3: and twenty five at home. I would say they have
- 27:05Speaker 3: one of the better home field advantages and that could
- 27:08Speaker 3: play up in the postseason. So should they be fighting
- 27:12Speaker 3: for their lives to catch the Dodgers here.
- 27:15Speaker 2: It's a huge home field advantage for them.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Especially they just got swept in Dodger Stadium like after
- 27:27Speaker 4: they were hot and the Dodgers were not hot at
- 27:30Speaker 4: that time, and they came in and really kind of
- 27:32Speaker 4: handled them, handled handled the padres really well. So it's
- 27:36Speaker 4: a huge advantage. I would agree. I think it's a
- 27:39Speaker 4: huge advantage.
- 27:42Speaker 1: FT FAM.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Let's talk about Fair Harbor and if you're listening, I
- 27:45Speaker 3: hope that you watch this conversation at some point because
- 27:48Speaker 3: we're doing show and tellcrats shorts they can be used
- 27:53Speaker 3: as a bathing suit, and the liner, which we call butter,
- 27:59Speaker 3: is the game band. It's the playmaker because it's different.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Your worn shorts that are not like this, and the
- 28:07Speaker 4: liner sucks. They are buttery on your butt.
- 28:11Speaker 3: I just came up with something for them. Your liner sucks.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Get Fair Harbor Liner. Seriously, give it a shot. I'm
- 28:20Speaker 3: not just saying this. The butter analogy plays an FTFAM.
- 28:25Speaker 3: You know we're hooking you up. Fairharbor Clothing dot Com
- 28:28Speaker 3: slash foal twenty percent off when you use the code
- 28:31Speaker 3: foul on your first purchase. Once again, that's fair. Hrbor
- 28:36Speaker 3: Clothing dot Com backslash foul for twenty percent off your
- 28:39Speaker 3: first purchase and use promo code foul.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Hey.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Credit to Pat Murphy for letting the mizz eat a
- 28:46Speaker 3: little bit aj He's had up and down outings. And
- 28:49Speaker 3: I loved the quote from Murphy. It's like he was
- 28:51Speaker 3: going so good all of a sudden, tempo was good
- 28:53Speaker 3: on time. I'm like, why would we take him out?
- 28:55Speaker 3: It's as good as he's looked. Fourth, fifth, and six
- 28:58Speaker 3: were better than the first three. He was saying he
- 29:00Speaker 3: was concerned in the first three. And think this was
- 29:02Speaker 3: a career high one hundred eight innings for the miz
- 29:05Speaker 3: as a pro.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Good for him.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Listen, this is this is a veteran manager like Murphy
- 29:11Speaker 4: can do. He can say, I'm watching in my eyes
- 29:12Speaker 4: now with what I have to do, so I'm glad.
- 29:15Speaker 4: Good for him, one hundred and eight pitches. Good for you, Murph,
- 29:18Speaker 4: and good for you miss because listen to Brewers. If
- 29:21Speaker 4: depending on what you think about the Brewers, if the
- 29:23Speaker 4: Brewers I think are going to make a deep run.
- 29:24Speaker 4: They're going to need the miss to do something, whether
- 29:26Speaker 4: it's a start or a bulk reliever. So he's gonna
- 29:28Speaker 4: have to have his pitch count up. So good for you,
- 29:30Speaker 4: Murph and Tricia Whittaker ate something out of Rphs pocket.
- 29:33Speaker 4: So that means the Brewers are about to go on
- 29:35Speaker 4: a ten game winning streak.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Again, that's true cases with syrup.
- 29:39Speaker 3: With syrup, though important with syrup to really get the
- 29:43Speaker 3: uh the blood sugar level flowing.
- 29:47Speaker 4: He needs to make sure. He needs to make sure
- 29:48Speaker 4: his blood sugar level is definitely flowing. There's some managers
- 29:51Speaker 4: in the big leagues right now in front offices that
- 29:54Speaker 4: would be like, how does he know what to look at?
- 29:57Speaker 4: How does how does he know what a pitcher looks
- 30:00Speaker 4: like when he's pitching? Doesn't he that need numbers and
- 30:03Speaker 4: stuff like that? Good for him, Good for pat.
- 30:07Speaker 3: One hundred seems to be the magic number, especially with youngsters.
- 30:10Speaker 3: And it's like he went ninety nine in the minors
- 30:12Speaker 3: earlier this year, it was one to weight one thirty eight.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Just be a looked easy at the end too for them.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty easy.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what he said.
- 30:24Speaker 1: That's what he said.
- 30:27Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 30:28Speaker 3: That's what he said. What do we think of Aaron
- 30:34Speaker 3: Judges throwing arm? First off, big weekend for the Yankees,
- 30:38Speaker 3: taking two out of three from the Blue Jays, a
- 30:40Speaker 3: team that had had their number earlier this year, and
- 30:43Speaker 3: they're going through their gauntlet period right now of two
- 30:46Speaker 3: weeks against good ball clubs. They're four and two so
- 30:48Speaker 3: far against Houston and Toronto. It's not going to be
- 30:52Speaker 3: perfect with their outfield scenario because, aj you want John
- 30:55Speaker 3: Carlos Stanton and Aaron Judge in the lineup at the
- 30:58Speaker 3: same time. The words from Aaron Boone are that they're
- 31:01Speaker 3: working on quote creative cuts to accommodate Judge in the
- 31:04Speaker 3: outfield to cut down the distance he would need for
- 31:08Speaker 3: his throws. We saw the test right away when he
- 31:11Speaker 3: returned to right fields for the first time since July
- 31:14Speaker 3: twenty fifth, I believe it was, and Dalton Varshow tested
- 31:18Speaker 3: him and scored. So what would you do as manager
- 31:21Speaker 3: of the Yankees right now.
- 31:23Speaker 4: Just what Aaron Boone's doing? Right fields so short and
- 31:26Speaker 4: Yankee Stadium, Just have your second baseman run out there
- 31:28Speaker 4: and just have him get it to the second basement.
- 31:30Speaker 4: The only thing I don't understand about this is. Judge
- 31:31Speaker 4: says he's one hundred percent, but then Aaron Boone says,
- 31:33Speaker 4: we have to come up with creative cuts. If he's
- 31:35Speaker 4: one hundred percent, why do we need creative cuts? This
- 31:37Speaker 4: is it's weird that him and Judge. This is second
- 31:40Speaker 4: time they haven't been on the same page.
- 31:41Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 31:42Speaker 4: I don't know why, Like, right there, do you feel
- 31:44Speaker 4: like you can really let it go? I wouldn't be
- 31:46Speaker 4: out there if I was, and Aaron Judge, But then
- 31:47Speaker 4: why do you need creative cuts?
- 31:49Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know.
- 31:50Speaker 4: It's an interesting dynamic. This is the second time this
- 31:53Speaker 4: year this has come up. But no, he didn't look
- 31:55Speaker 4: healthy when he threw that ball. He barely could get
- 31:57Speaker 4: it to the second basement. He was about fifty feet
- 31:59Speaker 4: from him. So yeah, teams now know this. Teams are
- 32:01Speaker 4: going to try and take advantage of it. It's gonna
- 32:03Speaker 4: be interesting to see how the Yankees come about it.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Teams are already gonna take advantage of different things defensively
- 32:10Speaker 4: for the Yankees. But before it wasn't Judge's arm. Before
- 32:15Speaker 4: he was elite elite accuracy and.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Arm strength.
- 32:23Speaker 4: Now they're pretty much both out the window. Because he's
- 32:27Speaker 4: just coming in and it's like quick exchange.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Get the ball right to Jazz.
- 32:32Speaker 4: I mean, I thought the first one and the base
- 32:33Speaker 4: hit to him, and right Jazz was running out after
- 32:37Speaker 4: the ball like he was running out after a pop up.
- 32:39Speaker 4: He ran out hard to get in position to make
- 32:42Speaker 4: that throw. So, yeah, it's tough. I don't agree with
- 32:46Speaker 4: him saying yeah, I wouldn't be out there if I
- 32:48Speaker 4: wasn't one hundred percent. I think the better answer is
- 32:52Speaker 4: we are a better lineup with me in it and
- 32:56Speaker 4: G in it, and we can't have G out there
- 33:00Speaker 4: as much as his arm needs to rest for So
- 33:04Speaker 4: I think he gave the answer that deflected away from
- 33:07Speaker 4: everybody else.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Is it like a macho man answer answer?
- 33:14Speaker 4: Like on this play, on this play that we're watching,
- 33:18Speaker 4: he went to throw it in the stands.
- 33:20Speaker 2: He ended up not throwing it in the stands.
- 33:22Speaker 4: Even right after he made this diving play in right
- 33:24Speaker 4: field off of George Springer, he stood up and like
- 33:28Speaker 4: thought about like slinging it out there, and then you
- 33:33Speaker 4: saw it right there. He was gonna flick it, but
- 33:36Speaker 4: he's you gotta get it up over that net. I'm
- 33:38Speaker 4: sure his elbow is hurting him. I mean, that's just
- 33:41Speaker 4: you don't need to have I don't know if it's
- 33:43Speaker 4: a macho man answer. I just think it's he's never
- 33:45Speaker 4: going to give any inkling that he's hurt.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Other Times when he's gotten hurt.
- 33:52Speaker 4: He's not been like, yeah, you know, it's just I
- 33:56Speaker 4: just don't know how it's gonna turn out here, Like
- 33:57Speaker 4: it's always that positive. I can play through anything kind
- 34:00Speaker 4: of thing.
- 34:01Speaker 1: AJ, how would you have answered it?
- 34:05Speaker 4: Uh, probably the way judge, because you don't want it's
- 34:08Speaker 4: you're just trying to protect everybody the way Judge said it.
- 34:10Speaker 4: I know, Yeah, of course you never want anybody to
- 34:13Speaker 4: know you're hurt. But the results showed when you try
- 34:15Speaker 4: to throw, so of course I'll be like, yeah, I'm fine,
- 34:17Speaker 4: I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine. There's no big deal.
- 34:19Speaker 4: There's nothing to see here, nothing to see here, kids
- 34:22Speaker 4: move on. But yeah, you can tell that he's hurt.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Is this more concerning in the postseason where everything gets magnified.
- 34:32Speaker 4: No, No, I think he's still the least of their
- 34:36Speaker 4: He's still the least of their worries on defense. In
- 34:39Speaker 4: my opinion, I think they have a few guys in
- 34:43Speaker 4: their lineup that are playing defense because they can hit,
- 34:49Speaker 4: and you play guys out of position who aren't big
- 34:53Speaker 4: leaguers in that position.
- 34:55Speaker 2: You also have a guy who.
- 34:56Speaker 4: Has a gold glove and Volpi who isn't playing gold
- 34:59Speaker 4: glove defense right now, there's no way to dice it.
- 35:03Speaker 4: He's just not playing very good defense. He looks like
- 35:06Speaker 4: he's not confident. Then you have to just be able
- 35:10Speaker 4: to hit the ball. So they're going to have they're
- 35:13Speaker 4: gonna have. When you talk about this team and you're
- 35:15Speaker 4: playing them in the postseason, it's the same as your
- 35:17Speaker 4: the Blue Jays getting ready to play him this past series.
- 35:20Speaker 4: What are the what are the areas you can exploit?
- 35:23Speaker 4: If g is in the outfield, you're gonna exploit that.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Run every ground ball out to Volpie, run every double
- 35:30Speaker 4: play out to Jazz because he could throw it in
- 35:32Speaker 4: the stands if you rush him. Ben Rice doesn't play
- 35:35Speaker 4: a lot of first base. Oh, Ben Rice is catching
- 35:38Speaker 4: good arm not accurate. We're gonna test it, like like
- 35:41Speaker 4: there's obvious holes that teams are just gonna test. They
- 35:45Speaker 4: test it in the in the regular season and in
- 35:48Speaker 4: the postseason. The difference is you're taking advantage and everybody's
- 35:52Speaker 4: locked into every single situation to take advantage of those
- 35:55Speaker 4: holes and deficiencies.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Well, let's roll the back and forth with Chris Kershner,
- 36:00Speaker 3: who covers the team for the Athletic with questioning for
- 36:05Speaker 3: Aaron Boone. So this was about judge not making the
- 36:08Speaker 3: throw home in that first inning that I was talking about,
- 36:10Speaker 3: he said, in the first on the Luke single, Judge
- 36:12Speaker 3: got the ball before Varshow touched third. Is he not
- 36:15Speaker 3: able to make that throw? What happened there? Boone said,
- 36:19Speaker 3: he just got to it and he scored. And Chris said,
- 36:22Speaker 3: so is he not able to make that throw? And
- 36:24Speaker 3: then Boone said he's in position to make the throw?
- 36:27Speaker 3: And then Chris said, so why didn't he? And Boone said,
- 36:29Speaker 3: we're handling it how we handle it. Okay, hmm. It's frustrating,
- 36:37Speaker 3: right if you're a manager, you don't want a guy
- 36:39Speaker 3: out there who can't throw at anywhere close to one
- 36:43Speaker 3: hundred percent. But this is definitely the way to keep
- 36:46Speaker 3: the big boppers in the lineup.
- 36:48Speaker 4: What's he supposed to say, Scott? What kind of answer
- 36:51Speaker 4: would you want from him? That's not already stating the
- 36:54Speaker 4: obvious that the scouts who watched the video or were
- 36:57Speaker 4: at the game, didn't already know what answer do you
- 37:00Speaker 4: want him to give you?
- 37:04Speaker 3: Boone already had a situation where he said he doesn't
- 37:07Speaker 3: think that Judge's throwing arm would be one hundred percent
- 37:09Speaker 3: for the rest of the year. He's not going to
- 37:11Speaker 3: do it again because Judge didn't like it. That's what
- 37:13Speaker 3: AJ talked about, right, Aj, if you're the manager, clearly
- 37:17Speaker 3: Judge doesn't even want to hear that, and so Boone's like, okay, cool,
- 37:19Speaker 3: I'm just going to say we're doing our thing nice
- 37:22Speaker 3: and simple.
- 37:24Speaker 2: But what did you want him to say? What did
- 37:25Speaker 2: you want him to say?
- 37:28Speaker 3: Well, a few weeks ago he said, I don't think
- 37:30Speaker 3: he's going to be one hundred percent of the arm,
- 37:32Speaker 3: So if he was running with that, he would have
- 37:34Speaker 3: said it here.
- 37:34Speaker 1: But Judge didn't like that.
- 37:35Speaker 4: He said that, right, So you didn't answer the question
- 37:40Speaker 4: what did you want Aaron Boone to say? You guys
- 37:41Speaker 4: think he got snippy? What did you want Aaron Boone
- 37:43Speaker 4: to say? That wouldn't have sound snippy.
- 37:45Speaker 3: I didn't say snippy. I actually don't care at all.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Because we all have eyeballs, we can see it ourselves.
- 37:51Speaker 3: I think it's still worth asking the question because that's
- 37:53Speaker 3: your job as a journalist, and you never know what
- 37:55Speaker 3: he's going to say, so you're just putting it out there.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Why didn't he do it?
- 37:59Speaker 3: And it's like, we're not going to tell you, even
- 38:02Speaker 3: though everybody already knows. So it's kind of silly. Time
- 38:07Speaker 3: for your weekly Arena Club segment where we see what
- 38:10Speaker 3: AJ pulls from a slab pack, and here we go,
- 38:15Speaker 3: pull a little Emerald pack this week. AJ looking for
- 38:19Speaker 3: something big.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Always, I'm always looking for the big thing. Next.
- 38:22Speaker 3: Big thing's got big money, big money.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Baby.
- 38:26Speaker 1: We've got a.
- 38:27Speaker 3: Dave Winfield card from nineteen to seventy four, seventy four
- 38:30Speaker 3: tops card from this Emerald pack. Estimated value three hundred bucks.
- 38:36Speaker 3: You could sell it back for two seventy sold sold.
- 38:40Speaker 3: I feel like you are into more of the current players.
- 38:43Speaker 3: Would that be accurate?
- 38:44Speaker 4: Like legend in my showroom, I have a Robin you out,
- 38:46Speaker 4: I have a Griffy Rookie card.
- 38:48Speaker 1: I think that's true.
- 38:48Speaker 2: So I mean I have some older vintage players.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Bob Gibson, Oh yeah, you have Gibson.
- 38:53Speaker 4: So I know I disagree Scott, but Dave Winfield for
- 38:56Speaker 4: that amount of money back.
- 38:58Speaker 3: I'm reselling it and if you want to get your
- 39:00Speaker 3: own pack or new card, you can get twenty percent
- 39:03Speaker 3: off your first slab pack or card purchase at arenaclub
- 39:05Speaker 3: dot com. Slash foul. What about this quote from the
- 39:11Speaker 3: other side, John Schneider on the Yankees and what seems
- 39:17Speaker 3: to be legal sign stealing. But then you hear the
- 39:20Speaker 3: quote about him having a conversation with the league. Do
- 39:23Speaker 3: we have this?
- 39:24Speaker 1: Can we throw this up there so I can read it?
- 39:27Speaker 3: Obviously, the Blue Jays did not have a series that
- 39:29Speaker 3: they're proud of. They lost too out of three. They
- 39:32Speaker 3: did win seven to one on Friday.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Oh, we don't have the quote. Cool, all right, I'll
- 39:38Speaker 1: find it. Did you guys see the quote?
- 39:41Speaker 4: Yeah, Essentially he was saying that the conversation with the
- 39:45Speaker 4: league was had or something like that.
- 39:47Speaker 2: They're really good at it. They've always been really good
- 39:49Speaker 2: at it.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll give it to you. They were relaying pitches.
- 39:53Speaker 3: They're good at it. MLB knows the Yankees are good
- 39:55Speaker 3: when they have something. Maybe I'm the only one that's
- 39:57Speaker 3: going to say it publicly, but we have have to
- 40:00Speaker 3: do a better job of making sure we're not giving
- 40:02Speaker 3: anything away. I was looking through the comments because I'm like,
- 40:05Speaker 3: I wonder how Blue Jays fans are gonna take this,
- 40:07Speaker 3: and most of them were like, yo, sign stealing is
- 40:10Speaker 3: part of the game. So what are we getting at here?
- 40:12Speaker 3: What's the major League Baseball part? All right, let's go
- 40:15Speaker 3: to our head of conspiracy theories at hercrats. Do you
- 40:18Speaker 3: have anything for us here? Why would he said that?
- 40:21Speaker 3: Is he just frustrated?
- 40:24Speaker 4: I think it's more out of frustration Max was out there.
- 40:27Speaker 4: I think it was it was Max's game. No, it
- 40:29Speaker 4: wasn't a Max's game.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Yeah, this with the changeups that Chris Kersher covered pretty
- 40:38Speaker 3: well on Twitter that we're looking at right now for
- 40:40Speaker 3: Ben Rice's dinger.
- 40:42Speaker 2: So.
- 40:44Speaker 4: To me, I've never seen until this year, and the
- 40:46Speaker 4: Yankees do it a ton. The Yankees are really demonstrative
- 40:51Speaker 4: about their like relaying signs. My opinion is, and I'll
- 40:57Speaker 4: stick to this, anybody that's super dem contive and just
- 41:01Speaker 4: like like Patrick Bailey earlier in the year was like
- 41:04Speaker 4: it was like looking into Pavetta's glove, Like I just
- 41:08Speaker 4: feel like anybody's doing that, they're trying to more get
- 41:13Speaker 4: in the other team's head than they are sending those
- 41:17Speaker 4: pitches in because if you look, they didn't get a
- 41:19Speaker 4: lot of They didn't get a lot of hits when
- 41:21Speaker 4: that was happening.
- 41:22Speaker 2: If you put on a big theater show, though, the
- 41:24Speaker 2: other team's gonna be like, oh, what are they doing?
- 41:27Speaker 2: What are they doing?
- 41:28Speaker 4: Oh well, maybe it's Kirk, maybe it's maybe it's Sureser,
- 41:31Speaker 4: maybe he's holding it like you do everything you can
- 41:35Speaker 4: to not give away pitches. But they didn't get a
- 41:38Speaker 4: lot of hits during this time, Like for Aaron Judges
- 41:42Speaker 4: six seven wingspan to do that, it's just it's creating
- 41:47Speaker 4: a lot of To me, it's creating a lot more drama,
- 41:49Speaker 4: and I think it's making the other team think, oh no, wow,
- 41:55Speaker 4: they must have something, because when you actually have something,
- 41:59Speaker 4: you're doing this, you're looking over to your left. You're not,
- 42:04Speaker 4: You're not. They did a circle the one time. I
- 42:08Speaker 4: don't know what the other ones were, but Jazz was
- 42:10Speaker 4: like super demonstrative, like obnoxiously demonstrative, where it seemed too
- 42:15Speaker 4: good to be true.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Hey, j what's your take on this one?
- 42:22Speaker 2: This is when you used to just drill some dudes.
- 42:24Speaker 2: That was it. That ended it real quick. You know
- 42:26Speaker 2: what you want to act like an idiot.
- 42:28Speaker 4: You're gonna get one in the ribs and we're gonna
- 42:30Speaker 4: fight if we have to, and we're gonna move on.
- 42:32Speaker 4: But I mean, that's it. This is when baseball used
- 42:34Speaker 4: to be able to police itself. You would try to
- 42:37Speaker 4: give signs. You had to be super quiet about it
- 42:40Speaker 4: and super don't let anybody see you doing it. Now
- 42:42Speaker 4: it's like Little league where the kids are like hey,
- 42:44Speaker 4: over here and over like, no, you want to end it,
- 42:48Speaker 4: and I don't, I don't. I don't say this. In
- 42:49Speaker 4: little league you shouldn't do this. You shouldn't be doing
- 42:51Speaker 4: what they're doing either at second base. But in the
- 42:54Speaker 4: big leagues, when you're grown men, you want to stop it.
- 42:57Speaker 4: Turn around, step off, walk out of there. If you're say,
- 43:02Speaker 4: Aaron Judge, if you do it again, I'm gonna hit
- 43:04Speaker 4: the guy hitting boom. That's how he used to go.
- 43:07Speaker 4: Sorry not seeing him for it, but that stopped it
- 43:10Speaker 4: real quick.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Boom.
- 43:12Speaker 4: Oh, Aaron Judge, you're gonna give him ben Rice sign,
- 43:14Speaker 4: give him this sign whammy in the ribs, and then
- 43:17Speaker 4: if he does it again, you hit the next guy.
- 43:19Speaker 4: And then eventually it leads into where people get mad
- 43:22Speaker 4: and they fight, you know I do. I'm not calling
- 43:23Speaker 4: for guys to get thrown at, but this is the
- 43:25Speaker 4: way he used to be handled.
- 43:27Speaker 2: Do you think.
- 43:28Speaker 4: Do you think now umpires hear that and they automatically
- 43:33Speaker 4: throw the pitcher out because I remember we did that
- 43:35Speaker 4: one time. Hey, tell your guy to stop picking his
- 43:39Speaker 4: chest every time he thinks the breaking ball's coming. Guy
- 43:42Speaker 4: steps out, didn't do anything, said we're gonna hit the
- 43:47Speaker 4: next guy if he does it again. We hit somebody
- 43:49Speaker 4: later in the game, and the umpire said to me,
- 43:51Speaker 4: he's like, that'll make him stop. Nowadays, I think if
- 43:55Speaker 4: an umpire hears that first first sign of somebody again
- 44:00Speaker 4: hit by a pitch, they're going, so what if you
- 44:03Speaker 4: think they're doing something, and so what, why does it matter?
- 44:05Speaker 4: If this is the way I always looked at when
- 44:07Speaker 4: guys used to get ejected. If you think you're doing
- 44:09Speaker 4: the right thing, and your team thinks you're doing the
- 44:10Speaker 4: right thing, then your team will have your back.
- 44:13Speaker 2: If you go rogue and do it on.
- 44:14Speaker 4: Your own and people don't agree, you won't you won't
- 44:17Speaker 4: have you won't have your guys back. You'll be like,
- 44:19Speaker 4: you know what, go beat his ass or go fight him.
- 44:22Speaker 4: And we'll get there when we get there, right, But
- 44:24Speaker 4: if you think you're doing the right thing, and your
- 44:25Speaker 4: team thinks you're doing the right thing, they'll have your
- 44:27Speaker 4: back and they might galvanize your team and make it better.
- 44:30Speaker 4: So I mean, listen to the empire. Sometimes guys get
- 44:33Speaker 4: managers get kicked out all the time to try to
- 44:35Speaker 4: get their team together and fight. Well, the same thing
- 44:37Speaker 4: can be done for pitchers or hitters.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Hey, we didn't get to this one, and that's what
- 44:40Speaker 3: he said. But did you see Hunter Brown going to
- 44:45Speaker 3: Joe Aspota like, Hey, regardless of what you think, I'm
- 44:49Speaker 3: the ace, I'm gonna say, young race, I'm going out
- 44:54Speaker 3: for the next inning.
- 44:55Speaker 1: And he did.
- 44:56Speaker 3: The pitch count was high for him early in that one,
- 44:58Speaker 3: but as Chandler Rom said, he descended the dugout steps
- 45:02Speaker 3: after the fifth, stared toward his manager and declared, I'm
- 45:05Speaker 3: going out, And Joe spot said he's earned the right
- 45:08Speaker 3: to make that decision, and we needed him to step
- 45:10Speaker 3: up and do that pretty great.
- 45:12Speaker 2: At innings they needed eggs. He always into fifth.
- 45:16Speaker 4: Good pitchers pitch into the fifth aces and your number
- 45:21Speaker 4: one needs to go into the sixth. So the sixth
- 45:24Speaker 4: he wasn't looking to go pitch six innings. He wanted
- 45:26Speaker 4: to pitch seven or eight, and so he's like, no
- 45:30Speaker 4: way in hell, I am only pitching five, especially with
- 45:34Speaker 4: the way their bullpen is set up right now. Good
- 45:39Speaker 4: for him taking the next step as an elite pitcher.
- 45:42Speaker 4: Good for him. He's having a great year too. He's
- 45:46Speaker 4: earned this right. So you know what, the really good
- 45:48Speaker 4: ones they figure out way to get through tough situations,
- 45:50Speaker 4: and Hunter Brown did it, so good for him.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Good for you Hunter.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Right now it looks like he'll finish in second for
- 45:57Speaker 3: al Cy Young. Looks like Schoogle one, Brown two, Crochet three,
- 46:04Speaker 3: No Gratz, you think Cruschet two.
- 46:05Speaker 4: We'll ask his catcher when when he comes on, see
- 46:08Speaker 4: if Crochet should be number two in there.
- 46:11Speaker 3: He's going to be rightfully biased. There's a distinct top three.
- 46:15Speaker 3: The era has fallen back from the other two a
- 46:17Speaker 3: little bit, although it's tough to pitch at Fenway, So yes,
- 46:20Speaker 3: we can ask Carlos Nobias about that. One other note,
- 46:24Speaker 3: Alex Cobb is having right hip resurfacing surgery and he's
- 46:28Speaker 3: getting up there in years, and you know he said
- 46:31Speaker 3: he's having the combos with the family but it's not
- 46:32Speaker 3: going to say the R word yet.
- 46:35Speaker 1: But a lost year for him. Remember it wasn't it him?
- 46:39Speaker 3: Sure's Are and Berlander that all got the same money
- 46:41Speaker 3: ish in the off season on a one year deal.
- 46:44Speaker 3: Mm hmm, and we all had to rank it.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Do you guys remember that?
- 46:50Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 46:50Speaker 4: Well Cobb, Cobb has always heard he's been hurt for years.
- 46:53Speaker 4: This isn't anything new. His hip and I mean his
- 46:56Speaker 4: back last year and he came back and pitched a
- 46:58Speaker 4: couple of games at the end and in the playoffs,
- 46:59Speaker 4: and was like, oh, he's fine. Then he hasn't pitched
- 47:02Speaker 4: it all year? Has he this year?
- 47:04Speaker 1: I don't think he ever came back to me he might.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Listen, here's the thing.
- 47:07Speaker 4: If he wants to pitch next year, he's gonna have
- 47:09Speaker 4: to go on on an NRI and he's gonna have
- 47:11Speaker 4: to probably try to find a team in the middle
- 47:13Speaker 4: of the season if he has surgery, because I just
- 47:15Speaker 4: don't see a team committing that much money to guy
- 47:18Speaker 4: who doesn't pitched a year.
- 47:19Speaker 3: You're right, yeah, and didn't pitch at all this year,
- 47:22Speaker 3: not one out of that slap only got a minute.
- 47:38Speaker 3: But we'll stay on for the YouTube. Crowd because we're
- 47:40Speaker 3: gonna take you to Dodgers territory. This is the big, big,
- 47:43Speaker 3: big Monday hot sheet will go after Dodgers territory. Do
- 47:48Speaker 3: you want to take a guess at Kratz's hat before
- 47:50Speaker 3: he reveals it? Aj Do you have any guesses?
- 47:53Speaker 2: He's gotta be the Diamondbacks spot on, you got it?
- 48:00Speaker 4: The Giants man, The Giants are out of it, Phillies,
- 48:04Speaker 4: Dodgers Padres. I mean, that's how they end their season.
- 48:09Speaker 4: If you think, if you think the Diamondbacks aren't going
- 48:12Speaker 4: to be a part of this playoff run, I'm not
- 48:14Speaker 4: saying they're making it. I'm saying the games that they
- 48:16Speaker 4: play are a lot more significant than people think. And
- 48:20Speaker 4: there's no they go, they go, Giants, Twins, whatever, Giants again, whatever.
- 48:25Speaker 4: But then it's Phillies, Dawyers and the Fathers to end
- 48:30Speaker 4: it out.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Spoiler boys, that's a good little spoiler run.
- 48:39Speaker 4: Corbyn Carroll is going to do some things down the
- 48:41Speaker 4: stretch here, and he never takes a day off.
- 48:43Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I'm looking right now at the cheat sheet
- 48:46Speaker 3: of the guest list for the week. Josh Smith is
- 48:49Speaker 3: scheduled for tomorrow, so is Ken Wednesday special guests influencer.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I'll leave it at that.
- 48:56Speaker 3: Who's been putting out some pretty interesting clips about some
- 49:00Speaker 3: new stats to replace some of the advanced stats. I
- 49:02Speaker 3: feel like you guys will like the combo. Thursday, Matt
- 49:05Speaker 3: Barnes makes his triumphant return to FD and Friday rookie
- 49:11Speaker 3: Sal Stewart from the Reds. He's off to a nice
- 49:14Speaker 3: start with Cincinnati. Were you disappointed in Cincinnati this weekend, AJ,
- 49:19Speaker 3: in the way that they played, because I mean, obviously
- 49:22Speaker 3: they took two out of three from the Mets, but
- 49:24Speaker 3: they lost a one run game to start out that series.
- 49:26Speaker 1: If not, you were in a much better shot to
- 49:31Speaker 1: make a run here.
- 49:32Speaker 4: I really think they were going to get in. I
- 49:33Speaker 4: don't think any of us really getting so. I mean,
- 49:36Speaker 4: they played as good as they're about what they are.
- 49:38Speaker 4: They're a five hundred team. I'm just more disappointed you're
- 49:41Speaker 4: having Sal Stewart on when I'm not.
- 49:42Speaker 1: On, because you've spoken about him.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Yeah, remember said.
- 49:50Speaker 4: In the world in the State Championship, I'll bring I
- 49:53Speaker 4: could pull my ring out and we could talk about it.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Maybe we'll clip this up and we can oh it.
- 50:00Speaker 4: Dan.
- 50:01Speaker 1: So here's a special message from AJ Prisinski.
- 50:04Speaker 4: The Reds had a shot. The Reds had a shot.
- 50:06Speaker 4: They had bases loaded, Edwin Diaz, Ellie was up and
- 50:12Speaker 4: he just watched right down the middle after Edwin had
- 50:16Speaker 4: I mean, I get he walked two guys to load
- 50:18Speaker 4: the bases, but it was almost like their season.
- 50:21Speaker 2: If there was a.
- 50:22Speaker 4: Shot, it hung in the balance in that moment, and
- 50:26Speaker 4: Ellie did not swing the bat. It was tough. I mean,
- 50:29Speaker 4: Edwin Diaz is nasty face.
- 50:31Speaker 2: I shed it.
- 50:32Speaker 4: But they had their shot and they had their guy up,
- 50:34Speaker 4: and it's almost like what AJ said, it's kind of
- 50:37Speaker 4: who they've been. Ellie's lost his power. Wow, two hundred
- 50:43Speaker 4: and seventy at bats, one homer.
- 50:47Speaker 3: Yes, he's lost his power. And the whole team really
- 50:50Speaker 3: doesn't have much pop. They have no twenty homer bats
- 50:53Speaker 3: when I last checked, and Cincinnati their bottom ten in
- 50:57Speaker 3: slugging percentage, no adjusted stat, just slugging percentage in baseball.
- 51:02Speaker 3: I mean, you can't have that if you're the Reds.
- 51:03Speaker 3: The thing is they actually have done a nice job
- 51:05Speaker 3: building up the pitching, but it's become a pitching identity
- 51:08Speaker 3: team and they'll need to pick up some pop over
- 51:10Speaker 3: the off season to put it all together. I think
- 51:12Speaker 3: this team's got some promise going forward. Though there's a
- 51:14Speaker 3: lot of good young pitching there.
- 51:15Speaker 4: They got some good young players too. Nolan McLain figured
- 51:18Speaker 4: or McLain figures it out, and and Stuart keeps doing
- 51:21Speaker 4: what he's doing, and Elie continues to grow.
- 51:23Speaker 2: They got some good young players, yep, deer and yeah,
- 51:27Speaker 2: I mean they got they got guys. Maybe Cincinnati Small
- 51:29Speaker 2: Park is now.
- 51:30Speaker 3: Pitchers Park, Cincinnati Big Park. Dodgers Territory has the travel
- 51:35Speaker 3: Planner to the stars. Your boy Kratz, what's I don't know,
- 51:42Speaker 3: I don't remember his last name. And then hot Sheet
- 51:47Speaker 3: is coming up. After that, we're going to get into
- 51:50Speaker 3: Andrew Painter's progress or lack thereof, as one of the
- 51:53Speaker 3: top pitching prospects in baseball, and also tampering that has
- 51:58Speaker 3: taken over college ball. So we'll get to that in
- 52:01Speaker 3: thirty minutes. Join us on the Baseball America YouTube channel,
