- 1:20Speaker 1: is out right now, two La Legends being Overdeaux the Homie, Blasty, Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, man,
- 1:29Speaker 1: thank you for having us. You know what's crazy is
- 1:33Speaker 1: like I feel like since the first six tape came out,
- 1:36Speaker 1: so much has happened for each of you guys. Obviously
- 1:39Speaker 1: you know you're on def Jam now you put out Outside,
- 1:42Speaker 1: which is a crazy body of work. Blast, You're probably
- 1:46Speaker 1: the hottest singer in the game right now. Man, crazy,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I mean it's like I mean, at least from where
- 1:54Speaker 1: I sit, you know what I'm saying, Like, just how
- 1:59Speaker 1: you guys feeling, man, with all the growth since the
- 2:01Speaker 1: first project individually, you know, I just feel like everything
- 2:06Speaker 1: coming for a circle, Like it's just reinsurance that I'm
- 2:09Speaker 1: on the right path. That's how I look at everything
- 2:12Speaker 1: that's been coming my way, and I just know I
- 2:15Speaker 1: got a long way to go. So I don't try
- 2:17Speaker 1: to fall too deep into accolades that come along the way, right,
- 2:23Speaker 1: trying to stay focused on the end. Go. How you feeling,
- 2:26Speaker 1: you know, honestly, I'm feeling like it's about time. You
- 2:29Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. We've been just dugging for so long,
- 2:33Speaker 1: holding it down, and you know what I'm saying, taking
- 2:35Speaker 1: the slower out, So I feel like, to finally, you
- 2:37Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, be in this position where we
- 2:39Speaker 1: able to, you know, put our shit on displays. It's epic,
- 2:43Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Nah, dude, it's crazy. Like
- 2:45Speaker 1: each of you guys have just been, you know, the
- 2:47Speaker 1: last couple of years, just been on a tear, like
- 2:49Speaker 1: like like, how do y'all like, you know, being friends,
- 2:52Speaker 1: being you know, you guys are going to be associated
- 2:53Speaker 1: together for the rest of your careers. What's it like
- 2:57Speaker 1: for each of you to see each other blow up?
- 2:59Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like, what's it like to
- 3:01Speaker 1: see blasts become like blast? You know what I'm saying.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Like the tour sold out in like a day, I think,
- 3:07Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like, what's that like? And
- 3:08Speaker 1: then you just announced the second show at the Novo
- 3:11Speaker 1: by the way, which is crazy, you know what I mean, Like,
- 3:12Speaker 1: how does it feel though each of you guys a
- 3:14Speaker 1: just see each other like you know what I'm saying,
- 3:16Speaker 1: Like I know, for me, it's it's kind of like, uh,
- 3:19Speaker 1: you know you always question your ear in this music shit,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and for me, it's just like I knew it, you
- 3:23Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like back then, just tap it
- 3:26Speaker 1: in with bro and you know what I'm saying, that's
- 3:28Speaker 1: working and you always knew it was something that was there.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Was you know what I'm saying, real, real detrimental and
- 3:33Speaker 1: essential for the city, you know, and the sound you
- 3:35Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, to represent the West Coast, so
- 3:38Speaker 1: all they knew it was there, you know what I'm saying.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I'm just happy to see it on Folk. Sure, that's crazy, man.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Blast How you know when it came to approaching six
- 3:48Speaker 1: to two or six tape two, what was like your
- 3:53Speaker 1: approach from like, you know, you just put out insane EP,
- 3:57Speaker 1: insane bonus edition. You're on a lot of hooks. You
- 4:00Speaker 1: got the MAZI record going crazy, the Jason Cash record
- 4:04Speaker 1: is crazy. I'm sure that there's so much stuff that
- 4:06Speaker 1: we haven't heard that's gonna be on some big projects
- 4:09Speaker 1: as well. But like, what's like your approach when it
- 4:11Speaker 1: comes to approaching a collaborative effort as opposed to like
- 4:13Speaker 1: kind of what you've been doing the last year and
- 4:15Speaker 1: some change. I mean, for the main thing for me
- 4:18Speaker 1: was really just sticking to the script. And what I
- 4:21Speaker 1: mean by that is just like knowing what got me here.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And I feel like what the people really wanted was
- 4:27Speaker 1: a six tape part two because that really impacted the city.
- 4:30Speaker 1: You know, being up gave me the aliu for people
- 4:33Speaker 1: to even know who I was. Like, I'm always give
- 4:36Speaker 1: him as much credit as I can because who knows,
- 4:39Speaker 1: you know. But I feel like my my main motive
- 4:42Speaker 1: was just making the impact over anything just being as
- 4:45Speaker 1: far as a solo artist, I'd rather make an impact
- 4:48Speaker 1: in the city. Yeah, what about you, Like, you know,
- 4:50Speaker 1: you put out a project outside which was crazy. He's
- 4:53Speaker 1: on it obviously, But did you approach this any differently
- 4:57Speaker 1: than the first tape or was it kind of like
- 5:00Speaker 1: picking back up where y'all left? I feel like now
- 5:03Speaker 1: it was it was a lot more excitement because you know,
- 5:05Speaker 1: we kind of out the pandemic and you know, not
- 5:08Speaker 1: necessarily out it, but we got a little more freedom
- 5:10Speaker 1: and a little more capability to you know what I'm saying,
- 5:12Speaker 1: do what we want to do out here, do a
- 5:14Speaker 1: show and really, you know what I'm saying, touch the fans.
- 5:16Speaker 1: So I feel like this time around, we was juiced
- 5:19Speaker 1: up and ready to pop back outside, and uh, you
- 5:22Speaker 1: could hear it in the music for sure. Was it
- 5:25Speaker 1: tough for each of you guys putting out a project
- 5:26Speaker 1: during the pandemic, because I mean, I know you did
- 5:28Speaker 1: like a pop up shop and you know, you guys
- 5:31Speaker 1: did did things, but like obviously it's not the same,
- 5:35Speaker 1: you know, especially in LA because ship is really shut
- 5:39Speaker 1: the fuck down. It was at least like what what
- 5:42Speaker 1: was that was that? Like? How was that? You know
- 5:45Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Did you guys feel like, you know
- 5:47Speaker 1: a little disappointed with some of the stuff you weren't
- 5:49Speaker 1: able to do or did you feel like everything was
- 5:51Speaker 1: was you know, for what it was you guys maximized.
- 5:53Speaker 1: For me, it was I ain't gonna lie. It was
- 5:55Speaker 1: a little hesitation, you know, but overall I felt it
- 6:00Speaker 1: played in my favor because my music is more like
- 6:04Speaker 1: melodic and laid back, just like R and B type vibes.
- 6:09Speaker 1: So I feel like people, yeah, could sit with it more.
- 6:11Speaker 1: But I wish, I wish that shit really was not
- 6:16Speaker 1: going down when I dropped that project. Yeah yeah, I mean,
- 6:20Speaker 1: you know, it is what it is. Man. I think
- 6:21Speaker 1: we finally kind of on the other side of it,
- 6:23Speaker 1: even though I feel like everybody, everybody I know has
- 6:25Speaker 1: got COVID in LA right now. It's like the ship
- 6:28Speaker 1: came back in the last month. It's crazy. It's insane. Man.
- 6:32Speaker 1: What about on the solo tip obviously, what are you
- 6:35Speaker 1: working on right now? Because like I said, man, you're
- 6:38Speaker 1: on everything right now, and I know people are wanting
- 6:40Speaker 1: like a full a full length Blast album and right
- 6:44Speaker 1: now just working on being the best live performer. Like
- 6:48Speaker 1: I feel like that's what I've been missing or what
- 6:51Speaker 1: I haven't been given to people like that, that live
- 6:54Speaker 1: version of Blast so exactly. So I'm trying to just
- 6:57Speaker 1: perfect the show and just rehearsing a lot. Ye her,
- 7:00Speaker 1: sitting trying to work out, get right, get in shape,
- 7:03Speaker 1: all that type of shit. Vocal lessons is that the
- 7:04Speaker 1: hardest part about performing is like getting out of breath. Man.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I don't know what it was about the pandemic, but
- 7:11Speaker 1: I'll be tired now for sure. What about you, like,
- 7:16Speaker 1: you know, are you are you working on your follow
- 7:18Speaker 1: up project outside? Yeah, you know, I'm working on a
- 7:21Speaker 1: few things. I feel like mainly something that I want
- 7:23Speaker 1: to do is really tap in with more you know,
- 7:26Speaker 1: LA artists and West Coast artists in general, and you know,
- 7:29Speaker 1: kind of build something that you know, we kind of
- 7:32Speaker 1: ordered foundation for it seemed like now and ranch off
- 7:36Speaker 1: of that. I want to say, when Draco was here,
- 7:38Speaker 1: he said, you guys are working on a project, you
- 7:41Speaker 1: and Draco, right, so there's going to be a Draco.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I mean he said this on camera just so you know,
- 7:46Speaker 1: so it's not like but but so there, so there
- 7:50Speaker 1: is a Drake. He played me a couple of songs
- 7:52Speaker 1: that aren't aren't out yet, but Draco and Bino is
- 7:55Speaker 1: on the way. Huh. The thing what I mean, Draco,
- 7:58Speaker 1: It's like we spend enough time in other words, you know,
- 8:01Speaker 1: if I just jump in the book and chord something here,
- 8:03Speaker 1: I'm perverse on this and you know what I'm saying.
- 8:06Speaker 1: So we got very effortlessly. Too effortless. I saw like
- 8:10Speaker 1: I was you know, I always was a fan of
- 8:12Speaker 1: his style because it's so unique. But I really when
- 8:14Speaker 1: I saw him record really like, I was like, Oh,
- 8:17Speaker 1: this dude's like an alien. It just goes in and
- 8:20Speaker 1: just talks and then it hits it on. Like I
- 8:23Speaker 1: saw one takes some shit that was crazy, and I
- 8:26Speaker 1: was like, Bro, that was the most effortless shit I've
- 8:29Speaker 1: ever seen like a rapper do. Like Yo, So is
- 8:32Speaker 1: that something that's like official or is that something you
- 8:34Speaker 1: guys are just tossing around that you guys haven't really
- 8:36Speaker 1: decided if that's gonna happen or not. It's something we
- 8:38Speaker 1: definitely want to do. Like how many records do you
- 8:40Speaker 1: guys have together that are not out countys? Like, we
- 8:43Speaker 1: got a lot of songs. I couldn't even tell you. Bro,
- 8:46Speaker 1: It's like we just make that much music to its
- 8:48Speaker 1: just like we could really drop a couple of taps
- 8:50Speaker 1: probably right now if we wanted to. That's crazy. What
- 8:53Speaker 1: about you, Blast? Let me ask you this question, who's
- 8:56Speaker 1: an artist that you have the most songs with in
- 8:59Speaker 1: the can that we don't that that aren't outa It
- 9:04Speaker 1: would have to be Mazi. I got a bunch of
- 9:06Speaker 1: joints on Mazi. Yeah, you and Mazi. Low kids like
- 9:10Speaker 1: jay Z and r Kelly before before she got weird.
- 9:13Speaker 1: No for real, Like, you guys have fucking records man man.
- 9:19Speaker 1: And that's another project I think of fans would love
- 9:22Speaker 1: is a Masi Blast project. That would be crazy. Yeah,
- 9:24Speaker 1: I'll be seeing that a lot on Twitter, Like Mazie
- 9:27Speaker 1: and Blast project would be crazy. But shout on Mazi
- 9:30Speaker 1: for sure. What is it about Mazi? You think that
- 9:32Speaker 1: you guys have such a great chemistry? I just felt
- 9:38Speaker 1: like I'm able to step into his world and really
- 9:40Speaker 1: like speak on it from like a narrator perspective. And
- 9:44Speaker 1: it's mostly just hooks when I collab with them anyway,
- 9:47Speaker 1: So I just feel like I'm able to speak on
- 9:49Speaker 1: that topic and just give it an overall summary. That's
- 9:53Speaker 1: That's kind of how I look at it in the
- 9:55Speaker 1: hook form. But yeah, the chemistry is there for sure.
- 9:59Speaker 1: What was it like, like, you know, rocking with Russ,
- 10:02Speaker 1: Because I feel like a lot of people kind of
- 10:04Speaker 1: compare you to Russ in terms of like what you
- 10:06Speaker 1: guys bring to the table as an artist, you know
- 10:08Speaker 1: what I mean, Like you're like a one man show.
- 10:10Speaker 1: You can record yourself and make the bead and do
- 10:13Speaker 1: everything right, and he's the same way. And you guys
- 10:17Speaker 1: put out a crazy record. You know what I'm saying,
- 10:19Speaker 1: I'm sure that there's more where that came from. Yeah,
- 10:21Speaker 1: I mean we only did two records. I don't think
- 10:24Speaker 1: the other one was gonna come out. Maybe it's gonna
- 10:26Speaker 1: be one of these random songs he drops because he
- 10:28Speaker 1: puts a song ding a record every week. His work
- 10:31Speaker 1: ethic is crazy. But yeah, shout out russ I for
- 10:34Speaker 1: sure mirror a lot of stuff he do you follow
- 10:38Speaker 1: a couple of you know, shift from his blueprint? Did
- 10:42Speaker 1: you you know a lot of people kind of question
- 10:45Speaker 1: like when you did the Red Bull thing initially like wait,
- 10:48Speaker 1: this is crazy, like you could sign with anybody, which
- 10:51Speaker 1: is true at the time, you probably could have signed
- 10:53Speaker 1: with anybody, right, But it's worked out like amazingly. You
- 10:57Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Is that a relationship we're gonna
- 10:59Speaker 1: continue with the next project. Yeah, we're talking about that
- 11:02Speaker 1: right now, right now. My deal is you know, damn
- 11:07Speaker 1: near damn. But definitely the relationship there is solid, So
- 11:12Speaker 1: I really don't see myself going nowhere else. And the
- 11:16Speaker 1: resources are like limits, the resources you get free red
- 11:19Speaker 1: Bull from this guy all red Bull, Yo. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Because a lot of people, like I think, you know,
- 11:30Speaker 1: in La, the scene is this is probably the best
- 11:33Speaker 1: that it's been in a very long time. Man, as
- 11:36Speaker 1: far as camaraderie is concerned. You know, I was talking
- 11:40Speaker 1: to like Jason Cash and a few other guys just about, like,
- 11:42Speaker 1: you know, everybody in LA. It seems like they fuck
- 11:46Speaker 1: with each other, you know, And there's obviously politics that
- 11:48Speaker 1: come with a lot of shit, you know what I mean.
- 11:49Speaker 1: But for the most part, I feel like you'll see
- 11:53Speaker 1: Rouchie getting on songs with Kaitlin, and you'll see you
- 11:56Speaker 1: guys doing a project together, and you're talking about doing
- 11:59Speaker 1: join with Draco, Like why do you think? Like now
- 12:03Speaker 1: the scene in LA seems so united as where in
- 12:06Speaker 1: the past it felt very divided. I feel like we've
- 12:12Speaker 1: seen it work, you know, in other places, you know
- 12:15Speaker 1: what I'm saying. We kind of see how they do
- 12:17Speaker 1: things and we're talking about you know what I'm saying,
- 12:19Speaker 1: States didn't been on top for years now, you know
- 12:22Speaker 1: what I'm saying, and we kind of realizing that we
- 12:25Speaker 1: stronger together. So I feel like that's that's really the
- 12:30Speaker 1: spark of a lot of collaborations right now in the Wish,
- 12:32Speaker 1: like Atlanta, Like Atlanta's had it for how long they've
- 12:36Speaker 1: moved together? Something crazy? What do you think blast? Yeah,
- 12:39Speaker 1: I mean I just feel like it's it's that young
- 12:41Speaker 1: nigga energy. Like we we see what he said like
- 12:45Speaker 1: young Doug, like how he moved like a boss, Like
- 12:48Speaker 1: we feel like bosses now. So we're gonna run this
- 12:50Speaker 1: shit how we want to run it and shout out
- 12:52Speaker 1: to the ogs that paved the way. But you know,
- 12:55Speaker 1: we got to carry the torch for the next generation.
- 12:58Speaker 1: So we've seen what they did wrong again, right, and
- 13:01Speaker 1: now we can add our sauts to it. You talk
- 13:03Speaker 1: about being a boss obviously got ego? Uh? Is that like,
- 13:08Speaker 1: are both of you guys looking to sign artists or
- 13:10Speaker 1: have you signed any artists? Or is that something that's
- 13:12Speaker 1: even you know, you guys are still quote unquote new artists,
- 13:15Speaker 1: but you know you came up under Nipsey, who you
- 13:18Speaker 1: know obviously laid the blueprint for a lot of shit
- 13:21Speaker 1: that a lot of rappers are doing nowadays. Is that
- 13:22Speaker 1: something you guys are interested in getting into most Definitely.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I'm actually working with an artist right now, but we
- 13:30Speaker 1: just it's in the works right now. I don't I
- 13:32Speaker 1: want to run it out the right way, for sure,
- 13:33Speaker 1: But shout out j Millian for sure. Oh fire? What
- 13:37Speaker 1: is what do you look for like in an artist?
- 13:40Speaker 1: Like if you if you make that decision to put
- 13:42Speaker 1: your standup on artist, like, what is the what are
- 13:45Speaker 1: the qualities? Man? My main thing is just not having
- 13:49Speaker 1: to tell somebody what to do, you know, so that
- 13:52Speaker 1: that natural work ethic and just consistency and of course
- 13:56Speaker 1: talent of course, but just not having a yeah, babysit exactly.
- 14:02Speaker 1: And I feel like that's that's what I wanted around men. Yeah,
- 14:06Speaker 1: it's tough because you know, you have an artist that
- 14:08Speaker 1: has all the talent in the world. Yeah, but unless
- 14:11Speaker 1: they're told what to do, they're just gonna sit at
- 14:13Speaker 1: home and play NBA two care Call of Duty some ship.
- 14:16Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, shout out the artists game?
- 14:19Speaker 1: Where were saying J million? J million? Okay from out here? Yeah,
- 14:23Speaker 1: that's crazy. How excited are you? You know you got
- 14:26Speaker 1: two shows at the Novo, first one sold out quick?
- 14:29Speaker 1: Are you going to be doing any tour? Ship? Because
- 14:31Speaker 1: you know his tours I got announced? Are you gonna
- 14:33Speaker 1: be doing a be No tour? Yeah? I feel like
- 14:35Speaker 1: it's only right to kind of follow up with a tour.
- 14:38Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, I ain't. I don't want
- 14:40Speaker 1: to say too much about it, but coming to a
- 14:43Speaker 1: city near you for sure, And how excited are you
- 14:45Speaker 1: to finally do like because you've been doing some club ship. Yeah,
- 14:49Speaker 1: you've been doing like some radio ship, but this is
- 14:52Speaker 1: like your ship. Nah, Yeah, it's fire, especially like when
- 14:57Speaker 1: they know your words, it's a different type of thing.
- 15:00Speaker 1: So I can't wait to see that they know my
- 15:03Speaker 1: words in New York, like, because I definitely wasn't expecting that.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I feel like that energy give you the motivation to
- 15:09Speaker 1: go back and make some crazier ship. So they always say, well,
- 15:13Speaker 1: you say you never heard a whack blast song in
- 15:17Speaker 1: your opinion, what's your worst song? Though that's out, that's out,
- 15:20Speaker 1: What is your worst song? Like, what's your least favorite
- 15:22Speaker 1: blast song? I couldn't even tell you. It'll have to
- 15:25Speaker 1: be they're all fire. It'll have to be like the
- 15:27Speaker 1: first song I ever put out. And we're not gonna
- 15:29Speaker 1: speak on that because I don't need people look at
- 15:32Speaker 1: that ship up on YouTube now if you know, you know,
- 15:35Speaker 1: it's still up to I don't know how to get
- 15:37Speaker 1: access to that YouTube account, but that motherfucker is up there.
- 15:41Speaker 1: It's still up like under your name too. I don't
- 15:44Speaker 1: know we should find it. Can we pull this up? Absolutely? Now?
- 15:50Speaker 1: What about you? Like like like like you know, just
- 15:53Speaker 1: talk about growth, you know, because I feel like you've
- 15:55Speaker 1: come a long way just as an artist in the
- 15:57Speaker 1: last like three or four years, Like you feel like
- 15:59Speaker 1: you're finally hitting your stride for sure. I feel like,
- 16:03Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, It's just started something great.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, I spent years you know
- 16:10Speaker 1: what I'm saying under nip and just you know, following
- 16:13Speaker 1: that energy and picking up you know what I'm saying,
- 16:16Speaker 1: after Bro, and to be here now and see us
- 16:19Speaker 1: doing it and see you know a lot of the
- 16:21Speaker 1: similar similar situations I've seen, Bro, And it's like it's crazy,
- 16:25Speaker 1: and you know, I just want to rend this shit
- 16:27Speaker 1: the right way and come correct. What situations you know
- 16:30Speaker 1: that you saw him go through, that you've kind of
- 16:31Speaker 1: gone through yourself now. I just mean, you know what
- 16:33Speaker 1: I'm saying, all the lights just having to do shit
- 16:37Speaker 1: like this, come in and talk to you, you know
- 16:39Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like me being able to control my
- 16:43Speaker 1: narrative and really put it out there. You know what
- 16:46Speaker 1: I'm saying, what I want to represent and how I'm coming.
- 16:48Speaker 1: It's it's a lot of pressure, you know what I'm saying.
- 16:51Speaker 1: We hold a lot of weight on our shoulders. But
- 16:53Speaker 1: it's the beauty of it. I feel like, Yo, it's
- 16:55Speaker 1: crazy because if you think about niping, like the people
- 16:57Speaker 1: who he kind of help bring along, like yourself, j Stone,
- 17:02Speaker 1: Roddy Rich with somebody who nip. Really, you know, that's
- 17:05Speaker 1: the first time I met Roddy was with it. You
- 17:07Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. It's crazy. How like even through
- 17:10Speaker 1: his death, Like if you look at LA's hip hop scene,
- 17:14Speaker 1: he's still living. You know what I'm saying, Like it's crazy.
- 17:17Speaker 1: And shout out to DJ dj VI I P Too
- 17:19Speaker 1: who's nips dj was not your official DJ too? Which
- 17:21Speaker 1: is are you taking you snow snowboarding it? Nah? He
- 17:25Speaker 1: always telling me come out there, but that boy love
- 17:28Speaker 1: that snowboard man. I just told him when he came
- 17:30Speaker 1: out and said, Yo, what do you do during the
- 17:32Speaker 1: summer there's no snow what do you do in your
- 17:34Speaker 1: free time? It's like I bought dirt bikes. I'm like, yeah,
- 17:37Speaker 1: that sounds about right. Hey, interrupting the interview to tell
- 17:41Speaker 1: you about our good friends at odd Socks. Now, as
- 17:43Speaker 1: you can see, I always have my odd socks on. Baby.

- 18:06Speaker 1: you can get your odds socks underwear. The boxer briefs
- 18:09Speaker 1: are the best underwear that you could ever fit on
- 18:11Speaker 1: your ass. Trust me when I tell you these are

- 18:32Speaker 1: It's crazy because blast you, a lot of people look
- 18:34Speaker 1: at you as a new artist. But you know, I
- 18:36Speaker 1: was like talking with Jason Cash and he was telling
- 18:38Speaker 1: me that you guys, like I think the first time
- 18:40Speaker 1: you guys ever hung out and did music together was
- 18:41Speaker 1: like eight or o nine or some shit. Yeah, it
- 18:44Speaker 1: was a minute ago because I know him through my
- 18:46Speaker 1: my younger cousins and Carson, Like I used to go
- 18:49Speaker 1: out there to they crib and they went to high
- 18:52Speaker 1: school with Jason Cash. So I've been on him for
- 18:54Speaker 1: a minute now. Yeah. No, it's crazy because like the person,
- 18:58Speaker 1: like like the persistence, the dedication it takes to like
- 19:02Speaker 1: do music for that long and like barely get pop,
- 19:05Speaker 1: like get popping a decade into this shit, you know
- 19:08Speaker 1: what I'm saying. It's like, was there ever a point
- 19:10Speaker 1: in time where you were like on the fence about
- 19:14Speaker 1: doing this shit, because you know, at the end of
- 19:16Speaker 1: the day, you gotta pay your bills, you gotta have
- 19:18Speaker 1: you gotta put a roof over your head, and this
- 19:20Speaker 1: music shit until it's it, it ain't it, you know
- 19:22Speaker 1: what I mean. In the back of my head, off,
- 19:24Speaker 1: I felt like I always knew it was possible, but
- 19:27Speaker 1: when I had my son, I knew I had to
- 19:29Speaker 1: turn it up, Like I have to think of different ways.
- 19:32Speaker 1: How can I monetize it now? Because at first it
- 19:35Speaker 1: was just the love of it, you know, like I
- 19:37Speaker 1: just enjoyed creating shit. But now I have to like
- 19:42Speaker 1: visualize how can I make it an actual business and
- 19:44Speaker 1: make it bigger than just me something I can pass
- 19:46Speaker 1: down to my son. Yeah, that moment, what was, like,
- 19:50Speaker 1: in your opinion, like a moment for you that kind
- 19:53Speaker 1: of changed everything. I feel like, to get right with
- 19:55Speaker 1: it be was was a bit you know, I think
- 19:58Speaker 1: that that was probably the first. Yeah, I was for
- 20:01Speaker 1: sure like one of the first moments that people start
- 20:06Speaker 1: paying attention to my name as far as a producer
- 20:08Speaker 1: in the city, because like, well, how did you guys meet?
- 20:11Speaker 1: Because you guys obviously didn't come up together, So how
- 20:12Speaker 1: did you guys initially meet? I heard that song and
- 20:15Speaker 1: I'm like, that's Kaitlyn. I'm like, bro, who made this?
- 20:19Speaker 1: He put me on, so I'm like, you need some
- 20:21Speaker 1: more of this? And then he was like, oh, you
- 20:23Speaker 1: could sing. He just sent the song. He didn't even
- 20:26Speaker 1: tell me, like, yeah, bro, I sing too. He just
- 20:27Speaker 1: sent the song with some vocals on. It turned out
- 20:30Speaker 1: to be savage crazy. Was that hard for you too,
- 20:34Speaker 1: to like because you know, when you're a producer, you
- 20:36Speaker 1: don't want to be like, I'm the producer who makes
- 20:38Speaker 1: music because the artists might look at you kind of
- 20:39Speaker 1: crazy if you're whack. You know. What I'm saying coming
- 20:43Speaker 1: into the game is like a producer, you know. Was
- 20:45Speaker 1: that something where it was like you're kind of picking
- 20:46Speaker 1: and choosing, like who you let hear you? It's kind
- 20:49Speaker 1: of funny though, because I don't really look at myself.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I don't know, it's weird. I don't know how other
- 20:55Speaker 1: people look at me, but I look at myself like
- 20:57Speaker 1: an artist that produces, like kind of like a J.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Cole right right. He not heavily known for producing, but
- 21:04Speaker 1: he got them accolades under his belt, you know. And
- 21:06Speaker 1: that's kind of how I want to move. Like if
- 21:08Speaker 1: you know, you know, are you still making beats for
- 21:11Speaker 1: other people? Like not that ship that you're not even on.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Are you still like sending packs out? Yeah? Yeah, any
- 21:15Speaker 1: any stuff that you know might be coming or any Yeah,
- 21:19Speaker 1: I got some crazy shit in the works for sure.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Can you give us a little not at all? Has
- 21:26Speaker 1: there been a blast? Have you done a hook recently
- 21:29Speaker 1: that you were like a little nervous because of who
- 21:30Speaker 1: it was for. Yeah, I feel I feel I'm my
- 21:36Speaker 1: biggest critic bro. Anything I send to anybody, I'm always
- 21:39Speaker 1: second guess with myself. But I like it that way
- 21:42Speaker 1: because I'm never perfect, but I'm always striving for perfection,
- 21:46Speaker 1: you know. But yeah, it's always like that. I'm always like, damn,
- 21:50Speaker 1: they gonna fuck with it or they're not gonna fuck
- 21:52Speaker 1: with it? Who can you let us know? Not who
- 21:54Speaker 1: you've worked with, but like who's reached out to you
- 21:57Speaker 1: that has let you know that they're a fan of
- 21:59Speaker 1: what you do. This for both of y'all. Two that
- 22:02Speaker 1: kind of was like a big deal to you, you
- 22:04Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like few people, few people, off
- 22:10Speaker 1: the top of my head. The latest one I could
- 22:11Speaker 1: think of, it's like Rick Ross him tapping and just
- 22:15Speaker 1: being in the same room with him. I didn't even
- 22:18Speaker 1: know he was, you know, he was like up on
- 22:20Speaker 1: your ship. Yeah, so that was a shocker for sure.
- 22:25Speaker 1: What as I mean, Drake lives in LA Has Drake
- 22:27Speaker 1: tapped in? No Drake a and't tapped in? That's got
- 22:30Speaker 1: that's gotta be inevitable. He lives here. I don't know
- 22:38Speaker 1: what about you? Who's somebody who's who's just reached out
- 22:40Speaker 1: to you, like just as like a fan that you
- 22:42Speaker 1: were like, Oh, this shit crazy. Mm hmm. I'll probably
- 22:50Speaker 1: say the craziest for me. He didn't exactly reach out.
- 22:54Speaker 1: He was just kind of sliding to my ship. It
- 22:56Speaker 1: was Bron Lebron, James Oh ship. He was sliding to
- 23:01Speaker 1: me and Jystone ship shout out Jaystone. But you feel
- 23:04Speaker 1: me when he in the back of that whip listening
- 23:07Speaker 1: to New York Ship, It's like, Lebron look like an
- 23:11Speaker 1: an R. Lebron is definitely an R, and he'd be
- 23:15Speaker 1: listening to the most wide He'll be listening to l
- 23:18Speaker 1: A Ship. Then it'll be listening to like Freddie Gibbs
- 23:21Speaker 1: or Griselda like he's super. I mean, he's supposed to
- 23:25Speaker 1: do an album. That's what they're saying. He's gonna do
- 23:27Speaker 1: like a DJ Khaled style project for he just A
- 23:29Speaker 1: and R to be fire, because I feel like he
- 23:32Speaker 1: got the ear for it for sure. Playing did y'all
- 23:34Speaker 1: see Space Jam two? Yeah? I just seen this ship.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I ain't seen this ship. What do you think I
- 23:39Speaker 1: liked it? I thought it was entertaining, which is kind
- 23:42Speaker 1: of what it was supposed to be right, Yeah, like
- 23:45Speaker 1: if you're going into space sham too thinking it's gonna
- 23:46Speaker 1: be like an Academy Award fucking movie. Like you're like, yo,
- 23:51Speaker 1: this is this is not It's just an entertaining movie
- 23:54Speaker 1: for children. And Lebron James seen it. I ain't seen
- 23:59Speaker 1: ship Forget HBO Max, it's free. Just watch that ship
- 24:03Speaker 1: at the crib. Just do that ship on. Is there
- 24:07Speaker 1: any sort of like timeline for you guys when it
- 24:09Speaker 1: comes to the follow up for this, because I know
- 24:12Speaker 1: each we're waiting for. I said, we're waiting for your
- 24:14Speaker 1: full time full length album. We're waiting on a new
- 24:18Speaker 1: project from you. Do you think we're gonna get both
- 24:20Speaker 1: of those before the end of the year. I'm not sure.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I couldn't. I couldn't even tell you that, especially with
- 24:27Speaker 1: me about to go on tour. It's a bunch of
- 24:29Speaker 1: shows I'm finna do. I'm always creating, but to put
- 24:33Speaker 1: out a body of work, especially at this moment, it's
- 24:37Speaker 1: very pivotal, Like you gotta be everyone's watching, Yeah, like
- 24:41Speaker 1: this is the moment where you gotta really lock in. Yeah,
- 24:45Speaker 1: so I'm gonna take my time with It's kind of
- 24:46Speaker 1: like your your Kendrick moment, Like Kendrick got the co
- 24:49Speaker 1: signed Section eighty came out. It was cool, but we're
- 24:51Speaker 1: all waiting to see what came Mad City sounded like me,
- 24:55Speaker 1: you know, Dre Dre co signed him on the radio
- 24:58Speaker 1: game passing the tour. I feel like that's where that's
- 25:00Speaker 1: your position right now. That's tough. Are you. Are you
- 25:03Speaker 1: finding yourself experimenting with it any, like different sonics like
- 25:07Speaker 1: on the New Ship? Yeah, for sure, and mainly because
- 25:13Speaker 1: I feel like people kind of predict what I'm gonna
- 25:16Speaker 1: do or how I'm gonna come. So the new shit
- 25:19Speaker 1: I've been doing like it's not too far away. Of course,
- 25:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna stick to my what I know, but I've
- 25:25Speaker 1: been leveling enough for sure. Have you been seeking any
- 25:28Speaker 1: outside production at all? Are you keeping it all? Yeah? Yeah,
- 25:31Speaker 1: I had locked in with Mike and Keys recently just
- 25:34Speaker 1: to get a different feel. Also, the artist that I
- 25:38Speaker 1: told you about, Jay Million, he produced as well, and
- 25:40Speaker 1: he played a bunch of instruments. So that's just been
- 25:44Speaker 1: you know, leveling up the whole sound. What about your
- 25:47Speaker 1: album for the end of the year, possibly, you know
- 25:51Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I feel like the goal after this
- 25:54Speaker 1: is to you know, obviously keep it going, you know,
- 25:58Speaker 1: with class and you know what I'm saying respectfully, however
- 26:02Speaker 1: that however that is you know what I'm saying. I
- 26:04Speaker 1: don't know if it's gonna be the album or a
- 26:07Speaker 1: mixtape or what, you know what I'm saying, but we
- 26:09Speaker 1: will keep it going for sure. You obviously learning so
- 26:15Speaker 1: much from Nip Man. Is there anything like on the
- 26:17Speaker 1: entrepreneurial sideject getting involved in because you know he's kind
- 26:20Speaker 1: of laid the blueprint for a lot of this generation.
- 26:23Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, what to do when it
- 26:25Speaker 1: comes to just you know, having a bunch of eggs
- 26:29Speaker 1: and different baskets besides the music shit. For sure. Yeah,
- 26:33Speaker 1: I'll say the biggest thing you know what I'm saying
- 26:36Speaker 1: that I want to continue. You know what I'm saying
- 26:38Speaker 1: per se from Nip is just the community, you know
- 26:41Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like different outlets outside of music, you
- 26:44Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, just to promote growth and wellness,
- 26:49Speaker 1: you feel me just within ourselves, bro, just all generations.
- 26:54Speaker 1: I feel like it's necessary for someone you know what
- 26:57Speaker 1: I'm saying, able to step in and kind of play
- 26:59Speaker 1: that role fire Blast. You're on a lot of big
- 27:02Speaker 1: festivals coming up in Vegas. You're rolling loud right, Yeah,
- 27:07Speaker 1: Miami Loud, Miami. I heard you guys have a party Friday.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Is that's true. Yeah, we're throwing a day party in Miami.
- 27:13Speaker 1: I gotta fall through. I'm gonna be out there. But
- 27:18Speaker 1: uh what what what? Because you're on some pretty crazy lineups, fact,
- 27:22Speaker 1: pretty wild lineups. Which lineup did you see that? You
- 27:26Speaker 1: were like, I need to watch this ship, like, because
- 27:29Speaker 1: you're on some pretty crazy lineup that I see that
- 27:32Speaker 1: that I'm on, Yeah, that you're on where You're like, man,
- 27:34Speaker 1: we might need to just go be on some fan
- 27:36Speaker 1: ship for this, I would say to her. Festival, it's
- 27:42Speaker 1: coming up. It's gonna be in Oakland, Turn the Lights
- 27:44Speaker 1: on festival. But it's hosted by Erica Badu in her
- 27:48Speaker 1: so so as I seen Erica do, I'm like, I
- 27:50Speaker 1: gotta come some ship. I ain't coming regularly. I gotta
- 27:53Speaker 1: have a live band, background, singers, background, you know you
- 27:57Speaker 1: know that festival, everyone's gonna have the live band. Yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 1: for sure, crazy live too. I'm already knowing in her
- 28:04Speaker 1: she's crazy live. I've seen her early on at the observatory.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of her. We mean asking for la, Like,
- 28:11Speaker 1: why did you decide to do the Roxy? Well, you're
- 28:14Speaker 1: doing it multiple times, right, Yeah, you probably could have
- 28:17Speaker 1: did like the Novo like m or I don't know.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I just wanted to keep it humble. I really didn't
- 28:24Speaker 1: have no expectations until after we so, I mean I
- 28:28Speaker 1: really didn't have no expectations period. But for the most part,
- 28:33Speaker 1: like as far as the agency, it was just the
- 28:36Speaker 1: dates didn't align with the tours, so the Roxy was
- 28:39Speaker 1: the perfect fit to keep the tour in the same route.
- 28:41Speaker 1: How many days are you doing in the Roxy? Doing
- 28:44Speaker 1: two days too? You could probably do like eight crazy,
- 28:48Speaker 1: I mean serious, it's like five hundred people there, right,
- 28:50Speaker 1: it's like small in there. Yeah, it's it's hot as
- 28:53Speaker 1: fucking the Roxy. I mean you've been there. Look, man,
- 28:56Speaker 1: look the project is out, great timing for the summertime,
- 29:02Speaker 1: great body of work. I think it's Uh, which song
- 29:05Speaker 1: are you guys noticing? Is like the one that's like
- 29:07Speaker 1: getting the TikTok's moving or getting like getting some love
- 29:11Speaker 1: in the club? Is there like one record that's kind
- 29:13Speaker 1: of standing out right now? On on six tape two
- 29:17Speaker 1: or Is it just the whole projects getting loved that
- 29:19Speaker 1: bit going. I ain't gonna lie. It's I'm just hearing
- 29:22Speaker 1: the same thing from everybody. You know what I'm saying.
- 29:24Speaker 1: You gotta let it play front to back, no skips,
- 29:27Speaker 1: no skips. Man, Look, the album is out, go get it.
- 29:31Speaker 1: We'll mixtape whatever we're calling it. Hopefully you and Draco
- 29:34Speaker 1: put a project out, that incredible record, Go Crazy. I
- 29:38Speaker 1: look forward to. You said you were tapping in with
- 29:40Speaker 1: a bunch of LA artists. Who else in LA do
- 29:41Speaker 1: you have a bunch of shit with? I wouldn't say
- 29:44Speaker 1: a bunch of shit, but I'll say some names. Y'all
- 29:47Speaker 1: need to get familiar with Airplane, James Sham, going Crazy,
- 29:52Speaker 1: Shout Out Asia. The list goes on Blue Bush Claying.
- 29:55Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, It's a bunch of bunch
- 29:57Speaker 1: of dope LA artists. Everybody needs to tap in with Shelfish.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I felt like it would have been criminal had you
- 30:05Speaker 1: have not made the Freshman cover. Talk about the Freshman thing,
- 30:12Speaker 1: I don't feel like that. I felt like it was early, honestly,
- 30:16Speaker 1: But like I said before, like the music speaks, you know,
- 30:20Speaker 1: and that's just what I lived by, but I really
- 30:23Speaker 1: felt like it was too early for me to be
- 30:26Speaker 1: so yeah, maybe like next year or something, after the
- 30:29Speaker 1: next project. But staff like they showed dumb love when
- 30:34Speaker 1: I met with him, and they was a fan of
- 30:36Speaker 1: the music over everything, And I appreciate that they still
- 30:39Speaker 1: hold that integrity there. Like they get a lot of flak,
- 30:43Speaker 1: but it's a couple of artists on there that I
- 30:45Speaker 1: was like, damn, they really tapped in, So I appreciate that. Yeah,
- 30:49Speaker 1: Now I feel like the Double X always gets the
- 30:53Speaker 1: East Coast bias. Yeah when it comes to like when
- 30:57Speaker 1: we have every time you see the cover, like but
- 31:00Speaker 1: you know, I feel like it's with all the noise
- 31:04Speaker 1: coming out of la it feels like it's finally every
- 31:07Speaker 1: like you said, you're about to go see a bunch
- 31:09Speaker 1: of kids in New York sing along to your shit,
- 31:10Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Roddy had one of the
- 31:12Speaker 1: biggest albums ever, you know what I mean. I feel
- 31:14Speaker 1: like she's finally starting to kind of come this way
- 31:16Speaker 1: man again. So it's a good look. Well, look, I
- 31:17Speaker 1: appreciate y'all.
