- 0:00SPEAKER_03: And just and get the lucky number thirteen, baby.
- 0:22SPEAKER_03: We are hitting episode thirteen of the Fantasy Football Space Podcast.
- 0:28SPEAKER_03: I am Natter alongside Tip Major and Nico.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: Let me tell you, guys, one more week.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: One more week.
- 0:35SPEAKER_03: Nico, how you feeling out there?
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: I'm great, man.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Uh, draft season is in absolute full swing.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: I don't know about you guys, but most of my leagues, we're usually waiting, you know, until this time of year, you know, week before the season, injuries happen, which we'll go over in our news and notes.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: So um, draft, I mean, got it had a draft last night, got another one Saturday, another one next Tuesday.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, we are in absolute full swing.
- 1:01SPEAKER_03: How about you, Ne tip?
- 1:03SPEAKER_03: How's it going over there?
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, dude, like like you said, I mean, it's it's it's here, it is upon us.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: And uh, I know we're gonna talk a lot about these injuries, but I mean, we are right in the thick of it, thick of draft season.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: It's at the tail end of it because, like uh Nico just talked about, a lot of people, especially the savvy drafters are the ones that are playing for some money, they're gonna wait until some of these injuries clear, and you know, some of these players who aren't gonna play the first few weeks of the season, they wait for that to clear up and then they start to draft their teams because I mean who likes giving away money?
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but let me tell you, I've I've heard people that start their redrafts before preseason, and I feel like those ones are like certified sociopaths because they're just like going into all the uh mayhem of the of course preseason games of practices, not knowing if their players got hurt, like you know, we see all the news and highlights of players, like for example, Jamar Chase.
- 2:02SPEAKER_03: You know, he landed on his ankle awkwardly.
- 2:04SPEAKER_03: You see, uh, you know, a chain, not a chain, sorry, Raiders running back genty.
- 2:09SPEAKER_03: You know, he all of a sudden leaves the practice field.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: Me personally, that that's a conspiracy theory.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: I don't even think he was hurt at all.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: But you hear stuff like that, and you know, your stomach just drops.
- 2:18SPEAKER_03: You start thinking of how you spent your first rounder on them, all that capital, your season's over, and it hasn't even started yet.
- 2:26SPEAKER_03: So those guys are sociopaths.
- 2:28SPEAKER_03: I feel like you should always draft uh between week three or even maybe even after week three, if you guys are organized as a leak in order to make that happen.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, preseason week three or you know, leading up to the actual start of the NFL season are the prime times for sure.
- 2:45SPEAKER_03: There we go.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: Now, of course, on today's episode, we are going to be talking about people who are gonna be flying out of the gate come regular season fantasy football time, people who are gonna struggle in the first month, and of course, the overhyped or more my type type of players, where of course we revisit last week's mock drafts, and of course, sometimes we just got to defend questionable decisions.
- 3:06SPEAKER_03: Like uh right now, for example, we're doing a super flex mock draft or a basketball draft, and tip waited till around 10 to take a quarterback, and um that that's and there's still quarterbacks out there, there's still quarterbacks out there who like oh my god, you're QB.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: There's still I'm not gonna say I don't want to hear it about it.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: I'm not saying really literally like your your next the next best quarterback is like Fernando Mendoza, he's not even the starter, but anyway, no, of course, we're gonna kick it off with some draft strategies because I mean, since we're already on the topic, we might as well hop right into it.
- 3:38SPEAKER_03: Tip, give me a draft strategy for everybody to look out for.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: Well, evidently, it's not wait too long for quarterbacks in a two QB league.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: No, um, but really, um, for me, man, it it's it's reading the board, and and what I mean by that, especially if you're in a live draft when you draft with a bunch of friends and you have the board there and you put the sticker on the board or the magnet on the board or whatever it might be.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: Um, read the board, you know, specifically the people that are next to you, but even read the board of the people that are not next to you.
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: See what trends are going on, see what tendencies are going on.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: I I was in a draft um in Ohio at the expo, and in the fifth round, I believe it was, I got David Montgomery.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Everyone else in that fifth round got a wide receiver.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: It was the craziest thing.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: I was the only one that got a run, got a different positional player.
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: And it was, it was, it's it's cool to see things like that, but also use that to your advantage.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: Use that to block other players from getting another running back.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: If you see that they already got a, you know, they only have two running backs, and we're like in the 13th round.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: Start you start getting some of these running backs so that way it puts them further down, so that way now you have trade capital, especially if they have a really good wide receiver core and tight end.
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: So those are some things, some tricks that I would say that I use um, you know, in when when I'm drafting.
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: Man, you know, I was actually gonna potentially use that as a tip where you're always gonna be looking at other people's rosters and seeing, hey, what do they need?
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: And can I block them for it?
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: Because if I make their team weaker, I inadvertently make my team stronger by default when you utilize something like that.
- 5:22SPEAKER_03: But Nico, what about you?
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, for draft strategies, and obviously we've done a handful of them now.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm all about drafting the best available player over filling out your roster, especially in the first seven, eight rounds, and use tiered rankings instead of straight rankings.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: The difference between wide receiver eight and wide receiver 12, for example, might be tiny.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: If you have five wide receivers that are in that same tier, you know, you can attack another position and come back to it later, especially if you know that you know you're up again in say six, seven picks, something like that.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: And don't let bye weeks or positional needs determine your draft picks.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Things change, injuries happen, waiver wires happen, trades happen, players on your bench can break out.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: That has been done before and it will be done again.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: So don't go into your draft worrying about like, oh, I have two people already or three people already with a week 11 bye.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: Take the best available player, don't draft the worst player just because you already have a bunch of guys on a week 11 bye.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Like, don't pass on a running back or wide receiver who's falling past ADP that you like because, for example, you need a tight end.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: I promise you, you won't lose your league because you had too many players on a bye in week 11.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: If that's what essentially syncs your season, you probably already lost it in the first 10 weeks.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Um, and then lastly, you know, cue up your players when you go into your draft.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: You know, when you're on the clock, it's natural to second guess yourself.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: Have a queue of players you like based on the research that you've been putting in prior to your draft.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: And as always, G GYG, go get your guys, trust the work that you've put in instead of scrambling when the clock starts and have fun with it.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's definitely meant to have fun, but of course, winning is a little bit more fun, in my opinion.
- 7:26SPEAKER_03: You know, when it comes to strategies, everybody already knows I'm big on the stacks.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: Big on the stacks.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: I live by the stack, die by the stack.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: But in this tip here, I'm gonna talk about uh handcuffs, uh more specifically taking other people's handcuffs.
- 7:41SPEAKER_03: If they take Chris McCaffrey, guess who I'm taking?
- 7:44SPEAKER_03: I'm taking his backup.
- 7:45SPEAKER_03: They got Jameer Gibbs, I'm taking his backup.
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: You got Bijan Robinson, I'm taking his backup.
- 7:51SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna have three uh minimum, you should have at least two handcuffs on your bench just in case for a rainy day, because when that does happen, it's gonna be a celeb not I shouldn't say a celebration because you're preying on an injury, but it just happens in fantasy football where you know what?
- 8:06SPEAKER_03: Hey, you're the benefit of the the situation that happened, which is a running back got injured.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: It's gonna happen in football, so you might as well prepare for it.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: And either you could prepare for yourself, you can also kind of handcuff your own players.
- 8:18SPEAKER_03: I feel like that's a playing not to lose type of situation in fantasy football.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: You're playing to win, so you might as well go for the enemy's RB1 handcuffs.
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: That way, if they go down, guess what?
- 8:29SPEAKER_03: Your team got a whole hell of a lot better, and you should probably do that with not only running backs, you can do that with wide receivers too.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: I don't feel like that's nearly as effective.
- 8:39SPEAKER_03: I feel like at that point you should be looking at wide receiver depth or looking for players that have breakout options.
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: If the situation on the offense goes their way, whether you know they explode in their scheme, the rookies take a year two leap, so on and so forth.
- 8:56SPEAKER_03: But handcuffs, best way to go.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm with you on that, Matter.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: And last thing, get together with your league mates for the draft.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Like in this virtual world that we all live in, drafting in person is so much fun.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: So get together with your league mates, draft live.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: It makes the environment and the draft that much more fun.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: Tape, do you have any more tips or clues?
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: Know your damn rules.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: Know your damn rules in the league.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: Like that's that that is the number one rule because I you know, and and it's happened to me.
- 9:29SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna sit here and say like it didn't.
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: I was like, I'll sit there like, oh, I didn't know that.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: And then, like, you know, that puts you in the hole.
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: So, but know your rules of your league.
- 9:37SPEAKER_02: Become if you don't understand something, especially if you're if you're like um, you know, taking on I taking on a uh someone else's team, so you find out what the rules are, ask the questions about the rules, find out the scoring system.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: Um, just know the damn rules.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I was gonna accuse Tip of not knowing the rules of the current basketball draft that we're in, but that'd be pretty easy because I would be right.
- 10:04SPEAKER_03: But the issue is is I didn't know the rules because I didn't also know that it was tight end premium.
- 10:09SPEAKER_03: If I knew that, I wouldn't have joined the league.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: But um let us know in the comments below how you feel about Sam Darnold as your QB1, yeah, in a in a two QB league.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: That's crazy.
- 10:22SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 10:23SPEAKER_03: All right, but also no, okay.
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: You know what, damn it?
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: Read off my other team, read off my team, though.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: Like, read off let's do it.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: Let's do it.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: It doesn't matter.
- 10:30SPEAKER_03: It doesn't do it.
- 10:31SPEAKER_03: Why not?
- 10:32SPEAKER_03: You lost.
- 10:33SPEAKER_03: You're competing for that.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: It doesn't matter.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: James James Cook at the 106, Saquon Barkley at the 205, Nico Collins at the 306, George Pickens, 405, Ladd McConkie at the 5006, Tyler Warren, 605.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: Judkins, 706.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: Oh, Ramondre Stevenson, 805, and then Sammy D 906, and he just picked Chris Godwin at 1005.
- 11:01SPEAKER_02: You can't start Sam Darnold will be formidable with the best available player, Natter.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Things happen.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: Also, it's best ball, so you're just taking the high score, anyways.
- 11:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, no.
- 11:13SPEAKER_03: In this case, you the quarterbacks will always have the highest scores, typically.
- 11:18SPEAKER_03: Typically, unless a wide receiver has a monumental game, QBs are the easiest way to inflate your score.
- 11:23SPEAKER_03: And you know what?
- 11:24SPEAKER_03: Sam Darnold, maybe he does it for you.
- 11:26SPEAKER_03: Maybe he does it for you.
- 11:27SPEAKER_03: But in last week's episode, we talked about how we struggle with the Seattle offense and wanting to trust it other than JSN.
- 11:34SPEAKER_03: But uh, you know, is that is that it on the tips?
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: Do you Nico?
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: Do you have another one?
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: No, I'm good.
- 11:40SPEAKER_03: I mean, I got plenty, but the show must go on.
- 11:43SPEAKER_03: Of course.
- 11:43SPEAKER_03: Now, of course, we got a lot of news going in because I felt like every day some more hop down, some sort of injury happened or some sort of incident happened on the practice squad.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: So let's hop into the news and notes.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: NFL headlines.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: Buckle up, guys.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: We got some news and notes today.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: Um, a lot of the news I don't want to say is smoke screens, but they are reports that were, you know, out by beat writers.
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: Um, managers should fantasy managers should probably keep their eye on.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: And one thing that was not a smoke screen in the last week of news and notes is Ashton Genty uh suffered an ankle sprain.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: He went down in he went down in Raiders practice on uh Sunday, and initially reports were not looking good.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: He couldn't put weight on his leg.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: The good news is though, is it's believed to be more of a low ankle sprain rather than a high ankle sprain, and it's not considered a long-term injury.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: Week one is obviously still in question, though.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Uh, rookie Mike Washington Jr.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: has been getting first team work in Ashton Genty's absence.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: Tip, I I gotta ask, man, how are you how are you feeling when you heard the news?
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: Your heart just dropped.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: Man, yeah, my heart sunk, bro.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: It just it was crazy, man.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: Um, I immediately pulled out the sage, the Pala Santo, and just wide-eyed and was like, my wife was like, What's wrong with you?
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: It was like Ashton Gente just got hurt, and the team was praying, and it was a real somber situation, evidently, you know, by what the beat reporters were saying.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: And so immediately, you know, I'm over here trying to find any news I can find, and there's just not enough out there, uh, other than what I just told you.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: And it was just very somber for I would say a good six hours, man.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: And then you started hearing some reports about ACL, and then you're just like, oh my God.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: And then you start hearing some reports at Ankle, and then you're like, what?
- 13:52SPEAKER_02: It just was all over the place, man.
- 13:54SPEAKER_02: And then um, you know, I already know how quick Kubiak is, he's very vague, and he's gonna be vague about things like that.
- 14:01SPEAKER_02: So uh I'm just I I don't I don't know what to think about Aston Genty as far as from a fantasy standpoint.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: I'm just happy that it wasn't a season ender.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, man.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, the second I heard it was ankle and not knee, um, I was like, okay, we got a shot here to still get Genty um some touches this season.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: And then when I heard it was a low ankle sprain compared to a high ankle sprain, and I'm not sitting here saying I'm a doctor, but low ankle sprains typically seem to be a less amount of missed time and a less amount of re-injury risk.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: So, all things considered, not ideal for a first, early, second round running back that's been going in drafts, but um, all things considered, we will take it given what the initial reports were.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, Trevion Henderson uh left practice with an ankle with an ankle slash foot injury.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: Uh he slipped while making a cut on Monday and left practice early.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: He sat out Tuesday uh while the Patriots continued to evaluate him, but early indications have suggested that it's nothing serious.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Um, Jamar Chase uh hyperextended his knee.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: Dude on initial look that initial look that looked scary, guys.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: I was like, it's one of those things you don't want to overreact.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: I personally overreacted on Twitter a little bit, but it looked not great.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, but he did tell reporters that he was quote unquote good.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Uh the Bengals held him out Wednesday.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: There's been no indication yet that this is a serious injury, but obviously continue to monitor it.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: But currently, current state is it looks uh precautionary.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: Um I did mention this, uh, we did mention this last week.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: Um, but I know that because we kind of breeze through the news and notes to get to the mock draft.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: Um, Alvin Camara is expected to miss four to six weeks uh with an MCL strain.
- 15:59SPEAKER_02: Um, obviously, this is damn ambulance just never ending, man.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: This is city blocks, bro.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: Obviously, you know, this is interesting because the Saints already, you know, brought in Travis ETN.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: Camps were reports from camps were reports from camp.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: Wow, words.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: Um, we're suggesting that Camara was getting a lot of the third down work.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: So, you know, if ETN can you know get the true Bell Cow usage, obviously that's good news for him, not great news for Camara.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: Saints rookie staying on the Saint train.
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: Uh Jordan Tyson, uh, expected to miss roughly two months as well.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: Uh, with a hamstring.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: It's just never ending sad.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: It's sad, man.
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: It really is.
- 16:45SPEAKER_02: I mean, we'll talk about it in a moment because I know there's some there's some actually some good news to talk about.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so we got some trade news actually.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: Let's let's switch over to some trades.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: Um, we have some new booty in Houston.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: Uh, as the Patriots trade K Sean booty to Houston, Tip.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: You're you're down in Houston, aren't you?
- 17:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: You seen any new booty?
- 17:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I'm a booty around I I am I'm a booty guy.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: I yes, I am.
- 17:11SPEAKER_02: I I love me some booty, and I think that this is a great move for the Texans.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: I just but then again, then and then and then today that one of their their offensive tackles uh gets hurt, so it's like, damn, you damned if you do, you damned if you don't.
- 17:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's the heat difference.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: That's what it is, dude.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: It stretches it stretches your muscles.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's interesting on both sides.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: Like Booty joins an already talented uh Houston receiving group.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: So his immediate volume outlook isn't particularly exciting, but it should clear up some room for the new England pass catchers and help the Texans stretch the field a little bit, um, and maybe more open up more opportunity for Nico in the short intermediate, um, even though he's kind of like a you know good yards per reception guy.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: Um, this kind of affects tank Dell a little bit.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: Natter, I know you're a big tank uh Dell guy.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: How are you feeling about the new booty in Houston?
- 18:06SPEAKER_03: Uh, you know, when a rookie receiver, I shouldn't say rookie receiver, statistically, when a receiver gets traded before his rookie contract ends, he ends up fizzling out of the league relatively soon.
- 18:21SPEAKER_03: And this is just going to be another one of those cases.
- 18:23SPEAKER_03: Now, Tank Dell, he might fizzle out just because of uh injury, or obviously because of injury, but uh just like uh unable to overcome the situation.
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: Realistically, who cares about Booty?
- 18:36SPEAKER_03: Like, he's not fantasy relevant unless there's injury to the prior guys ahead of the depth chart.
- 18:41SPEAKER_03: He might have like a cool catch here, he might have a touchdown here, but he'll never be a person that you uh pick up on your roster and then sit there and think, Oh, yeah, I could put him on my starting line.
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: So he's just a doubt.
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: I disagree.
- 18:53SPEAKER_02: No, I disagree with you on that because no, because because he was that guy, he was like what you were talking about when he was on the patriots.
- 19:00SPEAKER_03: Situationally, like there was just nobody else there at the time.
- 19:03SPEAKER_03: They they if he was the guy, he'd still be on the Patriots.
- 19:08SPEAKER_02: I think he's gonna have I think he's gonna have a shot.
- 19:11SPEAKER_02: I think he's gonna have a I mean I think he will, I think he's more fantasy relevant now than he ever was on the Patriots.
- 19:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:18SPEAKER_03: No, with with a crowded, he had it no competition on the Patriots, zero competition, and he was still a flex pick at best.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: Well, other than what, who Hunter Henry?
- 19:27SPEAKER_03: Now what he's on the Texans, AJ B ground, pop dog list.
- 19:31SPEAKER_03: Yes, now he is exactly that proves my point that they looked to replace him rather than to build an offense around him, and they did replace him, and then they shipped him out.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: And you're telling me on the Texans, a worse offense, worst offensive line, worst quarterback.
- 19:49SPEAKER_03: He's supposed to be uh fantasy relevant against Nico Collins, the run game, and whichever other uh rookie wide receiver that they did draft this year.
- 19:59SPEAKER_03: Sorry, I don't remember his name.
- 20:00SPEAKER_03: But to sit there and say, like, oh yeah, he's gonna be relevant and you should be on the lookout, and his fantasy value went up.
- 20:05SPEAKER_02: No, I think I think that he is more relevant now than he ever was.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: I'll say it again, than he ever was on the Patriots.
- 20:13SPEAKER_02: And I think that this is an opportunity for him.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: I I wouldn't be shocked if he goes if we go out in week one and he has like four catches for you know 45 yards, maybe a touchdown, because he always catches those acrobatic catches.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: Like, I wouldn't be shocked if that happens, dude.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the yardage may suck, but he gets you pulls in that touchdown.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm telling you, like, like this, he was relevant last year.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: Now he's just there there's no room for him.
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: So if there's an opportunity, though.
- 20:44SPEAKER_03: If he was good, there would be room for him.
- 20:46SPEAKER_03: Actually, they wouldn't have tried to find other players instead of making room for him.
- 20:53SPEAKER_03: Like I don't I don't understand the the confusion.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: If he was good, he would be on the Patriots.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: If he was good, they wouldn't have drafted, not if you got brought AJ Brown.
- 21:05SPEAKER_03: If they were good, he wouldn't have brought Dobbs.
- 21:07SPEAKER_03: Like him and Dobbs, what's the difference?
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: They're both the same player.
- 21:09SPEAKER_03: If they if they put some order into this court, all the difference between him and Dobbs is that that Dobbs uses the inflated helmet.
- 21:17SPEAKER_03: That's it.
- 21:17SPEAKER_03: If they didn't do that, you wouldn't ever be able to tell the difference if they wore the same uniform.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: There's just yeah, I mean, I guess I view Dobbs as kind of more of your possession receiver, and booty's more of the take the top off the defense kind of guy.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Ultimately, I just feel that this is probably best for all parties involved.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: Um, and more importantly, for the people that we care about the most, uh, which is obviously AJ Brown and Nico Collins, but the show must go on.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: Um, Arizona moves on from Trey Benson.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: Kelly probably I feel like Kelly probably loves this one because her sweet prince, uh Bam Knight, has a clear clearer path, I should say.
- 21:59SPEAKER_01: Um To see the field, but ultimately, similar to booty, like this kind of just removes one more player from the equation in a crowded uh backfield, if you will.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: For drafts, I'd care much more about, you know, how this impacts love, Algier, you know, Connor, um, things like that.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: Uh, Malik Neighbors uh continues progressing uh from his knee injury.
- 22:21SPEAKER_01: He continues to be one of the most esteemed, I would I would say high risk, high reward players in fantasy drafts in the third round.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: Uh, recent consensus rankings.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: I've seen him, you know, as high as 27th overall.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: Uh, so I mean, he's going a lot higher than he was a few weeks ago.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: So um, and then just a couple of other quick notes.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: Uh, Lions had a visit with Kareem Hunt.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: Uh Laporta returned to practice Tuesday.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: Josh Downs has a minor calf injury.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Brian Thomas Jr.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: returned to practice after shoulder injury.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: Uh Flowers has been working on the side, but has missed the last two days of onfield practice.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: Uh Jacori Krosky Merritt not practicing Wednesday.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: And last yeah, lastly, we had a very interesting quote from Packers GM today, uh, saying that the team is quote unquote the team is preparing for Jacobs' suspension in the event that it happens.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: Is Marshawn Lloyd becoming a must draft for you guys?
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, in the 15th, 16th round of your drafts?
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: Like I don't know.
- 23:31SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's a shot.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: It's worth uh it's worth a shot.
- 23:36SPEAKER_02: Um, I know Chris Brooks, he was dealing with some injuries too.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: So um they might be on the lookout for somebody.
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: Trey Benson, if they if he can get cleared, um, you know, I know it's I know they um he waved they waved him because he just couldn't stay healthy.
- 23:51SPEAKER_02: So I mean he might be somebody that ends up in Green Bay, but I I don't know, man.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: It it it's kind of one of those situations.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: I also wouldn't be upset if I just looked elsewhere, you know.
- 24:02SPEAKER_02: It's just kind of like eh.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: So like Jacoby Lane.
- 24:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean well, but he's creeping up a little bit further.
- 24:10SPEAKER_02: You said 14-15, that's a little different.
- 24:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:13SPEAKER_03: I mean, the the Vikings they play.
- 24:15SPEAKER_03: I mean, sorry, the Packers, they play the Vikings, Jets, Falcons, Buccaneers, Bears.
- 24:20SPEAKER_03: Like they have a very favorable early year schedule.
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: If he misses any time, whoever is the in-placed RB1 is, in my opinion, almost set and forget.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: You can talk crap about my Vikings, but you can't crop talk crap about that defense.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: Brian Flores knows how to bring it, man.
- 24:38SPEAKER_03: Yes, but divisional games against a divisional team.
- 24:42SPEAKER_03: I you know, I'll trust the Packers to be able to get the running back to inch out 10 to 15 fantasy points.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: Before we move off of uh news and notes, um, do you guys have any thoughts about Kareem Hunt uh having a visit with the Lions?
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: Um, Kareem Hunt is obviously a well-known commodity in the red zone.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: I mean, he had 40 red zone touches um last season, which ranks 17th in the NFL.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: Obviously, it was in a running back room that did not have Jameer Gibbs.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: Um, but do you guys have any concerns?
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: And obviously, concerns might not be the right word because obviously Gibbs is still going at the top of your drafts, like if not number one, probably number two.
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: But any concerns there from like a red zone competition goal line type work that Kareem Hunt might take away from Gibbs if he does end up signing there?
- 25:31SPEAKER_03: Nah, no.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: The the potential explosion of that offense is so high that you would be willing to, even if he were to hypothetically sign, be okay with him being on that roster, knowing that there's going to be an abundance of opportunities for him to score touchdowns and put up fantasy points.
- 25:51SPEAKER_03: If you took away Gibbs' touchdowns the whole year, he'd still be a top three RB, just alone from yards and catches.
- 26:00SPEAKER_02: Well uh well, I mean, he does put up yards.
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: I will say that.
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: Now I'm not worried about this at all.
- 26:05SPEAKER_02: I think this is more of an Isaiah Pacheco thing.
- 26:07SPEAKER_02: Maybe they're trolling Isaiah Pacheco a little bit.
- 26:10SPEAKER_02: Maybe get your button gear.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: Um, you know.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: But I I think I'm I'm definitely not worried about Gibbs here.
- 26:16SPEAKER_02: I think this doesn't even like he's so effective everywhere on the field, including the red zone.
- 26:22SPEAKER_02: Um, it it I'm that those other guys are where we're on here.
- 26:27SPEAKER_02: What were you saying?
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: A jag, just the guy who I don't remember who said that, but it but Scotty the kids.
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's that's that's who that's who those guys are to me.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it kind of reminds me of K Sean Booty.
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: But of course, that is gonna wrap up news and notes.
- 26:41SPEAKER_03: You know what?
- 26:42SPEAKER_03: We still have another week of preseason where I am very confident the list of injuries in news is gonna absolutely double.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: But of course, right now we got the overhyped and the not my typed type of segment right here.
- 26:55SPEAKER_03: This one's gonna be an interesting one.
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: Let's kick it to the music.
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: Oh, damn, we might went into a quasar, bro.
- 27:12SPEAKER_02: That was that was crazy.
- 27:14SPEAKER_03: I just realized that I wrote overrated instead of like overhyped.
- 27:17SPEAKER_03: So, you know what?
- 27:18SPEAKER_03: That's a spelling error on my end, right there.
- 27:21SPEAKER_03: Well, but of course, you know what better.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: Hey, each of us got a player, one of them is overhyped, and another one is gonna be just my type.
- 27:29SPEAKER_03: Tip, you want to or actually, you know what?
- 27:31SPEAKER_03: Screw you, Tip.
- 27:32SPEAKER_03: I don't care about your player.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: Nico, you go first.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm glad you seem to care about care about my player.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: Um, one player that I want to talk about that I feel is starting to get very overhyped um is Jonathan Brooks.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: I loved his ADP a few weeks ago when it was in the eighth or ninth round, but in a lot of drafts I've been doing recently, I'm starting to see him go ahead of guys like J.K.
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: Dobbins, Tony Pollard, Ramondre Stevenson, Rico Dowdle, Blake Corum.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's gonna be an ugly timeshare in Carolina.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: The Panthers, according to PFF, uh have the 26th ranked offensive line coming into the season.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: Chuba Hubbard will be involved in that offense, even though I'd view him as one of the least efficient runners in the NFL.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: You know, for reference, Hubbard has had one season averaging north of 16 fantasy points per game, which was in 2024.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: And even then, he got there on volume, not on efficiency.
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: Third in snap share, 11th in carries, 12th in targets.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: Like the case here for Brooks being overhyped is that I understand you're grabbing upside at this point in the draft, but he's coming off of two ACL surgeries and is not in line to get the Bell Cow usage in a bottom third offense that ranked 27th in total offense last year.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: While I still have Brooks as my RB33, he's currently being drafted around RB25, 26 and a lot of drafts I've done lately, and you're just so much better off grabbing guys that I mentioned above, like Ramondre, Corum, Dowdle, Dobbins, and Pollard.
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: It's just getting way too rich for my blood.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: Uh, so he's someone that I'm viewing as very overhyped um in drafts recently.
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, you have to think about it.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: He's I mean, he was drafted in the sixth round in one of the recent drafts.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know if it was Tipue or our fan or uh one that we did live last week.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: I don't remember exactly which one it was, but like, dude, he was drafted in the sixth round ahead of Ramondre.
- 29:43SPEAKER_03: Like, he he's already bad.
- 29:44SPEAKER_03: You like you're the backup on a bad team.
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: Like, you're bad.
- 29:47SPEAKER_03: Like, I don't I don't get like you're bad.
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: You're just bad.
- 29:50SPEAKER_03: I don't know what to tell you on that one.
- 29:52SPEAKER_03: Speaking of people that aren't bad though, of course, us at fantasy football space, we are always live on Twitter, X, whatever you want to call it, YouTube, and of course, Instagram now at Fantasy Football Space, where we are live, like I said, at 6 p.m.
- 30:09SPEAKER_03: Central, 9 p.m.
- 30:10SPEAKER_03: Eastern, or whatever time zone you're in, where of course you can hop on the chat, ask questions live, join the conversation or debate and rebuttal.
- 30:19SPEAKER_03: Make sure to, of course, stay LinkedIn on the socials at FF Space, which, or you can just, you know what, follow our own socials as well if you want to hear the hot takes, condescending text messages, and of course the dirty trash talk.
- 30:32SPEAKER_02: But of course, what uh actually, yeah, you don't want to see.
- 30:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's true.
- 30:40SPEAKER_03: Uh, but yes, tip, do you have any uh closing remarks on uh Jonathan Brooks?
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: I mean, yeah, it has been a little disappointing.
- 30:48SPEAKER_02: I mean, he they they talked him up so much in camp, and and I'm not doubting that he was looking good in camp, but that's also camp.
- 30:55SPEAKER_02: That's also OTAs, that's also you know, you're a little you're on the fresh, you know, it really hasn't hit you yet.
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: Um, he's he this is the first game, per a couple games he's played um in a long time.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: So, you know, he's gotta get his his his bearings underneath him.
- 31:13SPEAKER_02: Uh, so for me, I I I want to say that I agree with Nico.
- 31:19SPEAKER_02: I think that he had the the overhypedness of it has has gone to another level.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: I'm still buying in a little bit because I just don't believe that Chuba Hubbard is that dynamic of a player, but Jonathan Brooks is.
- 31:31SPEAKER_02: I don't know if I would agree with the sixth round 80 or a sixth round pick on him, but if he's hovering at the eighth round or or you know, maybe even the seventh, I'll I'll consider it.
- 31:43SPEAKER_02: But the eighth round for sure, I'm still gonna take a piece at uh Jonathan Taylor or Jonathan Brooks.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Jonathan Taylor too.
- 31:50SPEAKER_02: I would really like now now we're talking.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, draft it was kind of fun.
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: Random, yeah.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: No, I get like that's where I'm at with it right now.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: You know, a few weeks ago, even a few months ago in best ball drafts, you know, this guy was going eighth, ninth, tenth round, you know, and it's just steamed up to be a little bit too rich for me.
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: So that's why I have him as my um overhyped.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: But tip, I gotta say, you got a guy that you is overhyped, and we got to have a conversation about it.
- 32:22SPEAKER_02: Yes, we will.
- 32:23SPEAKER_02: We shall have a conversation about it.
- 32:25SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: Devonta Smith, and I really it's nothing against the guy.
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: I like Devonta Smith, and I don't want people to think that this is coming from like I don't want, I don't like him.
- 32:36SPEAKER_02: But where he's going in drafts, I you aren't gonna like what I'm gonna say, but Sean Mayan's offense, he's wants to spread the ball around.
- 32:44SPEAKER_02: And you know, they've got several different receiving options now.
- 32:47SPEAKER_02: Let me tell you the receiving options they have.
- 32:50SPEAKER_02: They have uh Makai Lemon, besides Devonta Smith.
- 32:53SPEAKER_02: They have Makai Lemon, they have Devontavian Wicks.
- 32:57SPEAKER_02: Right now they still have Hollywood Brown.
- 32:59SPEAKER_02: I don't know if he's still gonna make the team or not, but if not, they have Elijah Moore, they have um they they also have uh the tight end that's blinking on my name.
- 33:09SPEAKER_02: I don't even remember his name because Dallas Goddard.
- 33:12SPEAKER_02: So they got Dallas Goddard, they got Saquon Barkley coming out of the backfield.
- 33:15SPEAKER_02: Like there are a lot of pass catching, and I know they lost AJ Brown, but they also filled in some of those spots for that loss.
- 33:24SPEAKER_02: Um, now those players are not gonna be anywhere near AJ Brown, but they still can get those targets, and not only that, the other thing too is in the Sean Manion offense.
- 33:34SPEAKER_02: I I fear that immediately or the first few games of the season, Devonta Smith might, you know, he's not gonna get peppered so much with targets.
- 33:44SPEAKER_02: They're still gonna be learning this offense.
- 33:46SPEAKER_02: I think it's not gonna be until maybe a few games in, or maybe even a little bit after that, because they there that offense will get it together pretty quickly.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: I mean, Jalen Hurts is he's he he's he's got a good command of the offense.
- 33:57SPEAKER_02: I think they will get it together pretty quick, but I just think right away it's just gonna be a little bit, and and people are gonna be like, man, I paid up all this for for Devonta Smith, and I'm just sitting here with somebody who's not consistent uh at the beginning, you're gonna get frustrated.
- 34:12SPEAKER_02: But I'm here to tell you don't get frustrated.
- 34:14SPEAKER_02: Nico's here to tell you don't get frustrated.
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: So go, Nico.
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: I mean you make some really listen, you make some really compelling arguments, but when you're going against my plant my flag player of the year, um which we which we put out on Twitter what two months ago, like I've been on this train, you know, even when there was rumors um about AJ Brown getting traded.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: Like, and here's the thing like the clear and obvious AJ Brown is gone.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: Brown had a 28 or more target share in the last four years, and with Smith, he averaged a near 30 target share, which is right up there with Puka, JSN, Amon Ross St.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: Brown, in regards to target share when AJ Brown was not playing.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: Um, and when AJ Brown was not playing, and Slim Reaper was the number one.
- 35:09SPEAKER_01: He averaged 17.4 fantasy points per game.
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: Um, anytime he sees a target share north of 25%, I do believe in the new OC, Sean Mannion.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: I believe he wants to throw the ball more.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: You know, Smith has already proven he's efficient.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: The only thing holding him back has been the target share volume.
- 35:29SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, from a standpoint of you know, AJ Brown now being gone, I just view him as a wide receiver that is currently going kind of in the mid-teens, like 14, 15, 16.
- 35:41SPEAKER_01: That clearly to me has upside to be in the top 10.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: I personally rank him as my wide receiver 10.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: Um, but clearly you don't see it the right way.
- 35:51SPEAKER_01: So I don't know.
- 35:52SPEAKER_01: I I get what you're saying.
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: No, but I mean that way, that way we're in a 10.
- 35:59SPEAKER_02: We're we're in a 10, we're in a 10-team league, and he went in the fourth round, um, which isn't bad value there.
- 36:05SPEAKER_02: But I mean, if you if you're doing a 12 or like some of the guillotine leagues I'm doing in 18 man league, I mean you're jumping that up to like the second round.
- 36:13SPEAKER_02: Um, and the 12th round, you're you're jumping it up another round.
- 36:17SPEAKER_02: I the person who got Devonta Smith also got Justin Jefferson, and they also got Rasheed Rice.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: So that's very interesting.
- 36:25SPEAKER_02: That little trio there.
- 36:26SPEAKER_02: I mean, they got CeeDee Lamb, CeeDee Lamb.
- 36:28SPEAKER_02: I'm not worried about him, but that's an interesting trio um of wide receivers.
- 36:32SPEAKER_02: But Devonta Smith, man, I just really feel like over the course of the season, you're gonna you're after the season's over, you're gonna be happy.
- 36:40SPEAKER_02: You're just gonna hope that you get like the 2024, uh, 2022 Devonta Smith.
- 36:46SPEAKER_02: And I think you're gonna get closer to the 2025 Devonta Smith, maybe with a couple of touch more touchdowns, but not much more yards, not much more uh pass catching either, just because I feel they're gonna spread this ball around and they're gonna they're gonna run the ball, dude.
- 36:59SPEAKER_02: They're they're gonna they're gonna utilize um Saquon, they're gonna utilize Tank Bigsby, and they're gonna utilize Jalen Hurts.
- 37:06SPEAKER_02: It's it's still gonna be a run heavy team.
- 37:09SPEAKER_03: I feel like Devontae Smith in the fourth is like one of the best value picks you can leave the draft with.
- 37:16SPEAKER_03: Like, that's perfect.
- 37:17SPEAKER_03: You're telling me I can get two RBs, two bona fide wide receivers, and you know, of course, Devontae Smith will be one of those in the first four rounds, and I can leave like that.
- 37:27SPEAKER_03: No AJ Brown.
- 37:28SPEAKER_03: We keep talking about snapshare or target, you know, target percentage.
- 37:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the main guy is gone.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: The main guy is gone, he's out, he's not there anymore.
- 37:36SPEAKER_03: He's not there to cry, he's not there to read books on the sideline, he's on the Patriots.
- 37:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, imagine every deep throw.
- 37:45SPEAKER_02: Every deep if I can say one other, if I can say one other thing real quick.
- 37:48SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't even cut you off nader, but um I think it also depends on roster bills, right?
- 37:54SPEAKER_02: So we're talking about this draft that we did or that we're in right now, the almanac best ball league.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: I think it's on roster bill, and this Frank the cat or Frank the chat guy, he he got Jameer Gibbs, who you just talked about, CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson, Devonta Smith, and Ray Rice.
- 38:10SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean, you've got four wide receivers.
- 38:16SPEAKER_02: Y'all remember him?
- 38:17SPEAKER_02: I see that Rice, and I just go immediately to Ray Rice.
- 38:20SPEAKER_02: So, so so you've got four good wide receivers in there, right?
- 38:24SPEAKER_02: And Devonta Smith, if he if if if if what I'm saying comes true, you're okay because you've got these other guys, Justin Jefferson, who we talked about on the show, Rashid Rice, who Rashid Rice, who we talked about on the show as well.
- 38:40SPEAKER_02: I mean, some of us may be up or down on those players, but you've got a good stable of wide receivers.
- 38:45SPEAKER_02: And let me see who they oh, that's all they got.
- 38:47unknown: Oh, never mind.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, if you look at if you look at Devontae Smith's stats without AJ Brown in the lineup the last two years, he's at a 38% target rate, a 2.69 yard per route run.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: And granted, it was only on 137 routes, you know, which is only a uh handful of games, so it's not the biggest sample size in the world.
- 39:07SPEAKER_01: Um, and I'm not saying he's gonna have a 38 target share, but I fully see it being in the high 20s.
- 39:14SPEAKER_01: And if you can get that out of him, you are going to get the efficiency numbers to back it up to give him wide receiver one numbers.
- 39:22SPEAKER_02: All right, Natter.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: With your guy, I think yeah, no, it's it's it's not bad value.
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: It it's also and see sometimes when you say these, you know, these busts or it you have to look at where you get them too.
- 39:37SPEAKER_02: I think I think that that matters a lot.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: Um, so we got to be careful sometimes when we label these players a bust because yeah, they may be a bust, but I used a fourth round pick on him because he was injured and you know, I I played it safe or whatever, and and or I took a chance on him, and and now I'm reaping some of the benefits of it uh because I waited.
- 39:57SPEAKER_02: But we need to not wait anymore for your pick matter, uh, because I think I'm actually gonna agree with you for once.
- 40:06SPEAKER_03: You know, unfortunately, I had to go against the person that I think I vouched for throughout his career, Devon A-Chain.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: Could be not not because of him, obviously, it's not because of him.
- 40:18SPEAKER_03: This guy, he's a beast.
- 40:20SPEAKER_03: Now, the team around him, not so much.
- 40:23SPEAKER_03: And let me tell you, Malik Willis, just the other day, I believe I saw the report where he stopped practice, stopped practice.
- 40:30SPEAKER_03: It was a little bit of a uh a uh clickbait type of headline, but he stopped practice essentially, and he gathered up the offense and said, guys, uh we're playing really bad, we need to step it up.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: This isn't this isn't sustainable or any type of quality football that we're playing.
- 40:48SPEAKER_03: And for that to happen in a practice, I feel like in that moment, I kind of almost switched my stance on Devon A.
- 40:54SPEAKER_03: Chain because if the offense cannot sustain drives, if it can't have a reliable passing offense, if it can't be threatening down the middle of the field, then it doesn't matter how good of a running back you are, it doesn't matter how good of a running game you call, you will be mathematically inefficient running the ball just because, hey, what else is a team gonna have to sit there and worry about?
- 41:15SPEAKER_03: And with Devon A-Chain, the situation that uh he he just can't do it by himself the whole time, it's starting to creep up and becoming a much more realistic type of situation, making it so him going in the mid-second round that I've been seeing late second round, maybe even the early third, if you really want to see him fall down.
- 41:36SPEAKER_03: But man, that's a tough, tough pick to make in those rounds and sit there and expect the consistent player.
- 41:43SPEAKER_03: Now, he could break a 70-yard run for a touchdown.
- 41:46SPEAKER_03: Nobody would be surprised if he were to, but you can't sit there, put him in your starting lineup week in and week out, and expect that.
- 41:53SPEAKER_03: And what happens when he does it?
- 41:55SPEAKER_03: You lose your week because you know he's not going to have another efficient amount of offense behind him to sustain fantasy points, making it so uh I can't sit here and uh viably recommend you draft Devon A chain, other than the fact that you took two wide receivers in the first two rounds and he happened to be there for you.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: That'd be the only way you sit there and say, Okay, there's some value there.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: But other than that, I gotta tell you, say it away.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, I don't disagree with you, Natter.
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: Um, I have Devon A chain as my RB 10.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: Most consensus rankings have him, you know, around seven or eight.
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: I just feel that I I've brought it up a few times, but you know, Malik Willis, the most pass attempts he's ever made in any start in his career is 23.
- 42:43SPEAKER_01: Whenever you have a mobile rushing type of quarterback, it does normally take away or siphon from you know running backs getting short check downs because the quarterbacks are just tucking it and running it for six yards instead of just check down charlieing it to you know their running back.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: And that's why we see so much receiving production from guys like you know, Chase Brown with Joe Burrow, who's more of kind of your pocket passer, you know, Jameer Gibbs with Jared Goff, more of a pocket passer.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: So if you take away A Chain's receiving profile or upside, it definitely limits him.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: I think the one reason why I've kept him, I mean, the reason he's at 10 right now and not 11 is because of the Genty injury.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: I had him at 11, but I had to tweak some things around.
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: And I think with the state of the running back position, there's still value in A-Chain, but at the same time, like I am not feeling great about him.
- 43:39SPEAKER_01: The only build I could see myself drafting him in is if I have like the third or fourth pick, and you know, I end up going Jamar and then grabbing a running back on the way back, and for some reason A chain's still there.
- 43:51SPEAKER_01: And maybe like I I go maybe if I go like uh Jamar Chase and like Brock Bowers, if Browers like sips slips.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: To the late second.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: That's really the only scenario I really see myself snagging a chain um there early in the third.
- 44:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so he hasn't been dropping, he's still been staying around in that second round.
- 44:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's saying I don't see it happening.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: I don't see it happening.
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: I'm just you know, I'm confidently taking guys like Chase Brown, you know, Kenneth Walker, Omarion Hampton, Saquon Barkley.
- 44:24SPEAKER_01: Like I'm taking all those guys ahead of A Chain.
- 44:26SPEAKER_01: A chain kind of is for me, where it gets tough is when you stack him up against the King Henry.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: Because then it's like, well, you love the King Henry, but there are his age concerns.
- 44:37SPEAKER_01: He has no receiving profile.
- 44:39SPEAKER_01: You know, you can at the very least live with A-Chain getting some receiving work, whereas you know, Henry's getting none.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: So that's for me is kind of where the range, if you will, where I have him.
- 44:50SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 44:51SPEAKER_03: So I mean, I would take Chase Brown, Kenneth Walker over the two.
- 44:56SPEAKER_03: I'd probably do Derrick Henry out of pure safety over him, but then again, after that, okay, I'd I'd rather a chain over Omario and Hampton or like Travis Etienne.
- 45:06SPEAKER_03: Now, of course, the more my type type is part of the segment, Nico.
- 45:12SPEAKER_03: Who is that?
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's my type.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: Um, Lad McConkey.
- 45:18SPEAKER_01: I, you know, Lad McConkie, and just so everyone who's listening is aware, the more my type are the types of players that you know we're not necessarily, you know, reaching on um by any means, but they're players that we feel are good picks at ADP.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: So for me, Lad McConkey, like I just find myself finding him at a good pick at cost.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: I have him as my wide receiver 20, um, up a few slots actually from our original rankings that we put out a few weeks ago.
- 45:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, a lot of that is driven by the people that I had in front of him moving down, you know, like Terry McLaurin after the dig signing.
- 45:54SPEAKER_01: Um, Mike Evans is already getting injured in camp like every other day, uh, with lower body, like quad hamstring type stuff.
- 46:02SPEAKER_01: And, you know, that the fact that that Chargers offensive line is now healthier.
- 46:07SPEAKER_01: I know they recently had their center get hurt, which isn't great, but like overall, as a unit, they are stronger.
- 46:13SPEAKER_01: And I'm really coming around to the Mike McDaniels offense being able to feature Ladd McConkey as the clear alpha, move him around in motion and the slot, find ways to get open.
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: You know, if you go back to 2024, he was sixth in yards per route run, 11th in first downs per route run, and eighth in yards per target with a 24.5 target share, which is very solid.
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: Um, not elite, but solid.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: And when you combine that with the improved offensive environment, you know, I find myself, you know, if I'm looking for you know a wide receiver two in the fourth round or something like that, I'm very okay with and uh comfortable uh taking lad McConkie in a bounce back season after he let a lot of people down last year.
- 47:00SPEAKER_03: And one of those guys I was me, let me tell you.
- 47:03SPEAKER_03: I was oh yeah, I was there too, bro.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: I was there too.
- 47:07SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: I think Lad McConkey is a great pick, and where he's going, oh my it's like Chef's kiss, dude.
- 47:15SPEAKER_02: It's it's phenomenal.
- 47:17SPEAKER_02: And and the thing about Lad McConkey is he has an opportunity to really do some damage in this offense.
- 47:24SPEAKER_02: Um, so I I love I love the call on that one.
- 47:27SPEAKER_02: I have no rebuttal at all.
- 47:30SPEAKER_03: So Ladd McConkly is I you know right now I'm kind of going off the mock draft that we did last week, live, of course.
- 47:37SPEAKER_03: That you can find us at 6 p.m.
- 47:39SPEAKER_03: Pacific time at FF Space Pod.
- 47:42SPEAKER_03: Ladd McConkly went in the fourth round.
- 47:45SPEAKER_03: Um tip, you would pick Ladd McConkly over Devontae Smith?
- 47:50SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 47:51SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 47:52SPEAKER_03: Nico?
- 47:53SPEAKER_03: No, no, yeah, me neither.
- 47:55SPEAKER_03: No shot.
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I still would take lad McConkly over him.
- 47:59SPEAKER_03: Now, lad McConkly, I still think is a phenomenal.
- 48:01SPEAKER_02: Wait, you wait, wait.
- 48:02SPEAKER_02: You would take you would take Devontae Smith over Lad Ladd McConkey.
- 48:06SPEAKER_03: Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 48:06SPEAKER_02: Okay, 100%.
- 48:07SPEAKER_03: I'm just clear.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: 100%.
- 48:09SPEAKER_02: Uh no, I I still wouldn't.
- 48:11SPEAKER_02: No, I'm I'm going with McConkey.
- 48:14SPEAKER_03: I couldn't get burned like that again by him.
- 48:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's close.
- 48:17SPEAKER_02: I'm not, it's not, it's not like I mean, I it's not like I wouldn't think about it, but I just I think I just like the opportunity that lad mcconkey is going to have.
- 48:27SPEAKER_02: I there's no more Keenan Allen.
- 48:29SPEAKER_02: Um, the tight ends could be a little bit of a problem, um, because all three of them can play and all three of them can catch the ball.
- 48:37SPEAKER_02: So um that could be a little bit of an issue, but but I still think Lad McConkie is an easy 140 target guy.
- 48:44SPEAKER_03: That being said, if the Chargers offense goes off in the new system with Mike McDaniel and I don't have any pieces of it, I will be very sad.
- 48:54SPEAKER_03: So, you know what?
- 48:55SPEAKER_03: Sometimes you have to take a piece of that offense to be a part of it.
- 48:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:59SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 48:59SPEAKER_03: But tip, who is your type?
- 49:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and and he's starting to become my type because of this Emeka Abuka news that you know he's dealing with this toe issue and he remains sidelined, and they won't they don't know if he's gonna play week one.
- 49:17SPEAKER_02: They said it's murky right now, and they want him to return to a full practice before he goes out on the field.
- 49:25SPEAKER_02: Um, so I'm gonna go with Chris Godwin because uh with his seventh round ADP and the league that we're talking about, this almanac draft that we're doing, I got him in the 10th.
- 49:36SPEAKER_02: It's a best ball league, and I'm super happy with it because I think that he could actually, if this toe injury with the Meka Buka is something that lingers throughout the whole season, remember he's a wide receiver.
- 49:48SPEAKER_02: What do wide receivers depend on?
- 49:50SPEAKER_02: They depend on their feet for uh lateral movement, for quickness, for explosiveness.
- 49:56SPEAKER_02: So, like, yeah, he's gonna need his toe.
- 49:59SPEAKER_02: Um, so if he deals with that throughout the season, Chris Godwin is just steady Eddie.
- 50:05SPEAKER_02: He's he's he's it's never pretty.
- 50:07SPEAKER_02: It's never like, oh my god, he had you know six catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns.
- 50:12SPEAKER_02: It's never anything like that.
- 50:14SPEAKER_02: But it's steady, it's steady production in the PPR realm.
- 50:18SPEAKER_02: Um, he he's one of those guys who can get you eight catches for 80 yards and maybe that touchdown.
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: That's the question is the touchdown.
- 50:25SPEAKER_02: But I I really think that he's gonna have an opportunity in this offense, especially again with Mekabuko's sideline.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: And there's already connection.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: You already you gotta look at that too.
- 50:36SPEAKER_02: There's already a connection with Chris Godwin and Baker Mayfield.
- 50:39SPEAKER_02: And if anybody wants the ball out, Baker Mayfield wants the ball out, and Chris Godwin wants to help him.
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: I like it.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, good safe PPR floor.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: Um, I I would just say that would be probably be my only thing.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: Make sure it's PPR.
- 50:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's not going for those 150 yard games.
- 50:58SPEAKER_03: Now, remember last year, Chris Godwin, wasn't he wide receiver one for like the first five weeks?
- 51:02SPEAKER_03: It was it was two years ago.
- 51:03SPEAKER_03: We were looking at that.
- 51:04SPEAKER_02: We were looking at that before the it was 2024.
- 51:06SPEAKER_02: Like, dude, he he had like in seven games.
- 51:08SPEAKER_02: What was it, Nico?
- 51:09SPEAKER_02: You saw it.
- 51:10SPEAKER_02: It was something uh fantasy points in only seven games.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's crazy, dude.
- 51:18SPEAKER_01: To put that into perspective, he had 210 and 17 games um in 2023.
- 51:24SPEAKER_01: Wow, so close.
- 51:26SPEAKER_01: I'm no math whiz, but you can take that number and divide it by seven to figure out his fantasy points.
- 51:31SPEAKER_02: It's 19, 19.
- 51:32SPEAKER_02: I was doing it just under 20 points a game.
- 51:35SPEAKER_02: Wild.
- 51:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's a lot of math.
- 51:37SPEAKER_03: I'm not doing it.
- 51:38SPEAKER_03: It's about 19 points a game.
- 51:39SPEAKER_03: There we go.
- 51:40SPEAKER_03: I I did the math.
- 51:41SPEAKER_03: Never mind.
- 51:42SPEAKER_03: Ignore tip.
- 51:43SPEAKER_03: Uh you know, my guy right here, my type.
- 51:47SPEAKER_03: My my type of guy right here, Mondre Stevenson.
- 51:50SPEAKER_03: Right now, about RB30, 31, ADP, 10th round, ninth round.
- 51:55SPEAKER_03: And you're telling me that he's the RB1 currently on the depth chart of that roster, and and he's that high.
- 52:02SPEAKER_03: Right now, that they got the second round rookie going in the fourth, fifth round.
- 52:06SPEAKER_03: I'm seeing right now in a lot of mocks, and somehow, like the actual RB1 isn't going anywhere near there.
- 52:13SPEAKER_03: Like, I don't understand the math on this one.
- 52:16SPEAKER_03: You don't, Tip can maybe do it this time instead of me.
- 52:19SPEAKER_03: Well, I'm with you.
- 52:21SPEAKER_03: If he's playing, he averages like 70 yards rushing a game.
- 52:25SPEAKER_03: He does pass catch.
- 52:26SPEAKER_03: His only issue is potential fumbles, but you can't really play for that.
- 52:30SPEAKER_03: You're always going for that upside.
- 52:32SPEAKER_03: And when it comes to upside, Ramandre is up there as one of the highest for any type of running back you that you could possibly type of cast out of scenario when it comes to uh potential RB1 games, when it comes to touchdown potential, yards potential, reception potential, he is going to outperform his ADP even if he wasn't to play the whole season.
- 52:54SPEAKER_03: There's just no way he can't do that.
- 52:56SPEAKER_03: It's it's phenomenal value, absolutely my type.
- 53:00SPEAKER_03: And he's that kind of guy that I would reach at least one round for just to make sure I secure him.
- 53:06SPEAKER_03: Because who else are you gonna grab in the ninth and tenth round that's gonna provide you immediate better value than him?
- 53:12SPEAKER_03: I can't think of one, maybe a kicker, honestly, but still, like you're not gonna do that where you drop the kicker in the 10th round, making so Ramondre easy smash at that position.
- 53:23SPEAKER_01: I don't have any qualms with Ramondre.
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: I'm with you, he's a much better value at ADP than Trevion Henderson.
- 53:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, he was third in yards per touch uh last year.
- 53:33SPEAKER_01: He's got the receiving profile, he's good in pass pro.
- 53:37SPEAKER_01: No qualms with Ramondre being your guy.
- 53:39SPEAKER_01: I like him a lot too.
- 53:43SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I mean, you know what?
- 53:44SPEAKER_02: I'm just gonna assume Tip agreed with me because I mean no, there's no they yeah, there's no problem.
- 53:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's it's it's it's fine, man.
- 53:54SPEAKER_02: It's it's again safe.
- 53:56SPEAKER_02: It's Ramondre, who I think is gonna be the number one guy coming out of the gates.
- 54:01SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, I like it.
- 54:03SPEAKER_03: There we go.
- 54:04SPEAKER_03: But of course, when we wrap up this section right here of the episode, the next one is gonna be the fire starter and the slow burners.
- 54:12SPEAKER_03: Let's hop right into it.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: That one will get the juices flowing a little bit.
- 54:26SPEAKER_03: You know, that was kind of the point.
- 54:27SPEAKER_03: I wanted something a little splashed, a little fire when it came to that intro.
- 54:31SPEAKER_03: But of course, you know what?
- 54:32SPEAKER_03: Let's talk about like the first month of the season, players who are easily gonna come off hot.
- 54:37SPEAKER_03: And when we talk about the players who are coming off a little bit slower when it comes to the first few weeks, the players that you're not gonna want to uh get scared on.
- 54:45SPEAKER_03: You know what?
- 54:45SPEAKER_03: You kind of expected this going in.
- 54:47SPEAKER_03: He has a tough start of the schedule.
- 54:49SPEAKER_03: But hey, if you don't happen to draft that player that's gonna be starting off slow, then you're gonna be looking for trading that specific player because you know they're gonna start off slow and then pick up momentum as the season goes, but the person who drafted them probably doesn't, making it so those easy buy low candidates as the season progresses, and of course, your opponent racks up losses.
- 55:08SPEAKER_03: But of course, Nico, who you got for us in the fast starting portion, guys.
- 55:15SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go with Deshaun Stribling here.
- 55:17SPEAKER_01: Uh, he has the Cardinals and the Dolphins in weeks two and three.
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: Now he does have the Denver Broncos and Rams in week one and four, but Certaine should be on Evans and Trent McDuffie should also be on Evans um in both of those matchups.
- 55:33SPEAKER_01: And meanwhile, Stribling should be able to provide you with pretty solid fantasy value during that four-week stretch.
- 55:40SPEAKER_01: He's been clearly cementing himself as the team's wide receiver three behind Evans, um, who, as we know, has high risk, injury prone type of player.
- 55:50SPEAKER_01: And Debo Samuel, who is nearly 31 years old.
- 55:53SPEAKER_01: He's seen a massive dip in his production over the last two seasons.
- 55:57SPEAKER_01: Uh Debo has finished as the wide receiver 28 or worse in fantasy points per game in three of the last four seasons.
- 56:06SPEAKER_01: And then obviously, we uh we have Ricky Pearsall, who is out for the year, and Stribling has taken full advantage of his opportunities, uh, not only in um camp, but he's also caught 11 of his 13 targets so far in two preseason games for 109 receiving yards.
- 56:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's also in like one full game.
- 56:27SPEAKER_01: You got to remember they're only playing the first half of these games.
- 56:30SPEAKER_01: He's only played three, four quarters, and he got 13 targets and 109 yards.
- 56:35SPEAKER_01: And you also think about Kittle, who is coming off of his Achilles injury.
- 56:39SPEAKER_01: There's gonna be some ramp up time there.
- 56:41SPEAKER_01: Stribling should see opportunity early in the season, and he's steaming up draft boards because of it.
- 56:47SPEAKER_01: And I'm buying into it.
- 56:49SPEAKER_01: I'm not sitting here saying he's gonna absolutely light up the scoreboard, but I believe he will clearly outperform his expectations to start the season.
- 56:57SPEAKER_01: I believe he's a really good pick in you know, ninth, tenth round of your drafts.
- 57:01SPEAKER_01: So Deshaun Stribling is my guy.
- 57:05SPEAKER_03: Now, as long as he doesn't run into a couple of electrical substations and gets hurt, then I think he's a smash type of person that is going to elevate his ADP tip.
- 57:16SPEAKER_03: What do you think?
- 57:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I like the stribling kid.
- 57:20SPEAKER_02: I so um I I think that he can get off to a quick start, you know, especially if you got some of these other receivers nursing some injuries, right?
- 57:32SPEAKER_02: Um, or dealing with some injuries.
- 57:34SPEAKER_02: And then you know George Kittle, you gotta you gotta, even though he's been cleared, you gotta be careful with him as well.
- 57:40SPEAKER_02: I don't think he's gonna be out there a full complement of snaps at least week one.
- 57:44SPEAKER_02: Maybe they ramp him up, maybe they get him geared up for those types of uh plays later on in the season.
- 57:51SPEAKER_02: So I like it.
- 57:52SPEAKER_02: I think it's a good call, and he's got some favorable matchups.
- 57:57SPEAKER_03: Now, tip, do you want to go into your player or should we go into Nico's?
- 58:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, let's do it.
- 58:03SPEAKER_02: No, let's do it.
- 58:04SPEAKER_02: Let's let's let's go into my player.
- 58:06SPEAKER_02: Um, for a fast start, uh, I'm gonna talk about Saquon Barkley.
- 58:11SPEAKER_02: Um, and look, this is when Saquon Barkley is gonna be at his freshest all of the season.
- 58:16SPEAKER_02: Uh, that's the first thing you got to worry about.
- 58:18SPEAKER_02: So he's gonna come out like a bat out of hell.
- 58:20SPEAKER_02: And I think the first four weeks that he goes up, he goes up against the commanders.
- 58:24SPEAKER_02: That's a divisional game.
- 58:25SPEAKER_02: So you know that that's gonna be a hard fought game.
- 58:28SPEAKER_02: The commanders last year, now you got to look at so when we're looking at these, you're looking at what they did last year.
- 58:34SPEAKER_02: Some of these teams have changed, like the commanders.
- 58:36SPEAKER_02: They've got Sonny Styles, right?
- 58:37SPEAKER_02: He's been blowing it up in camp.
- 58:39SPEAKER_02: But last year, the commanders did give over 130 rushing yards per game.
- 58:43SPEAKER_02: So I think that you know, Sean Mannion's gonna look at that.
- 58:46SPEAKER_02: He's gonna say, okay, we can attack at these certain levels in this in this game with our offensive line.
- 58:52SPEAKER_02: And I think they're gonna utilize Saquon Barkley at the beginning of the season because why not?
- 58:56SPEAKER_02: That's when you can utilize, that's what his legs are the freshest.
- 58:59SPEAKER_02: And then you also in week two, they go against the Titans.
- 59:02SPEAKER_02: Titans that that they might as well be up, and then they might actually be using Take Bigsby later on in the game.
- 59:09SPEAKER_02: Um, and then the Bears, that should be another good game.
- 59:12SPEAKER_02: Remember what the Bears did to them last year?
- 59:14SPEAKER_02: The Bears give up another 131 rushing yards per game, and then the Rams.
- 59:19SPEAKER_02: Now, you gotta worry about week five.
- 59:21SPEAKER_02: Week five, they go against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 59:23SPEAKER_02: The Jacksonville Jaguars are the best run defense that was out there last year.
- 59:27SPEAKER_02: But that's again Saquon Barkley, he can catch the ball out of the backfield.
- 59:30SPEAKER_02: It's his Saquon Barkley, he can just take one run and take it 50 yards.
- 59:34SPEAKER_02: So uh I I really like Saquon Barkley to find to start fast.
- 59:40SPEAKER_03: You know, I better hope my RB1, the person I drafted to be my RB1, starts fast.
- 59:47SPEAKER_03: I feel like that's straightforward there.
- 59:50SPEAKER_01: Who's your slow start guy, Tip?
- 59:53SPEAKER_02: Uh oh, it's for me for it's AJ Brown.
- 59:56SPEAKER_02: Um, and look, you want to talk about a gauntlet um of a schedule going into the season for the for first they go against the world champs, man.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_02: And you know the world champs, you you you you already know the pride is already on their side.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_02: They get their rings that night.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_02: Um, they it's gonna be electric, they're gonna do everything in their power to stop AJ Brown, and they get an extra week.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_02: So Mike McDaniels will have something for him.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be a very frustrating night uh for him.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be one of those situations.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_02: I remember this was years ago.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_02: It was an opening night for Antonio Brown and Bill Belichick.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_02: They were playing against the Patriots.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_02: I think the Patriots won that season before they were getting their rings, and Bill Belichick just just took Antonio Brown out of the game completely.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_02: And I just feel like that can happen within uh AJ Brown here.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_02: Um, and then after that, you you gotta also worry about Dobbs as well.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_02: When you said he's a possession guy, Nico.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_02: I I tend to agree with that.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_02: And so you gotta also get Romeo Dobbs in there.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_02: Um, then week two, they go against the Steelers.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_02: Look, if you're gonna play the Steelers, you don't want to play them at the beginning of the season when they're the healthiest.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_02: You want to wait till like week six, week seven, uh, when all those old geezers are are banged up and and and having their ailments.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_02: Uh, so that that's when you want to you don't want to play the Steelers, and they're they're a prideful team as well.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_02: So, you know, they're gonna be geared up to try to stop AJ Brown.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_02: I just think a lot of teams are gonna be, you know, they they know how dangerous he is, they're gonna be geared up to stop him.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_02: Uh, but he will prevail over the season because he's just that damn talented.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_02: And then in week five, he gets to play against my Raiders.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_02: Uh, and that may be the game where he has like, right, right, he just goes 150, two touchdowns.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_02: He might throw a touchdown, like he just goes completely nuclear.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_03: Oh man.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_03: Against AJ Brown.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_03: Don't talk, don't, don't talk about my boy AJ Brown like that.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_03: But of course, when it comes to fast starters, there's nobody that's actually in the running back position later on in the ADPs that's gonna start as fast as DeAndre Swift because he's go against one, the Panthers right off the barrel.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_03: After that, he's gonna be RB1 just to kick it off the year, and then he's gonna be maybe RB two after he goes against the Vikings.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_03: He's not gonna dominate nearly as much, but then against the Eagles, very exploitable matchup for him as he historically has.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_03: And then against the Jets as week number four, this guy is going to have an explosive start to the season because I mean that's what the offense needs to do.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_03: They need to gather the momentum, they need to do it before the weather gets incredibly cold, and from there, they're just gonna continue the momentum on that they did going into last year.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_03: This guy is gonna dominate, he's probably one of those players later on in the NDP that I'm gonna tell you guys that you have to find a way to put in your starting lineup because it is exploitable matchups.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_03: Now, uh, talking about slow starts, I'm sorry.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_03: Uh Chase Brown.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_03: Not only do the Bengals historically always have slow starts to seasons, historically slow starts.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_03: They're going against the Eagles, the Bucks, the Texans, the Steelers, and the Buccaneers just resigned Vita Veya.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_03: If he was gone, yeah, I'd be a little bit more questionable on that end.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_03: But I mean, those are four solid defenses where you know what, a historically slow starting team, difficult schedule.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_03: Shouldn't see a reason that that trend doesn't continue on throughout the year.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_03: But of course, I still would always put Chase Brown on my starting lineup, and he is still somebody I am incredibly high on, making it so after this struggle bus of a session happens, he is somebody that I would significantly target as a Bilo candidate.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_03: But of course, Nico, you still have a slow starting player.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_03: Who is it?
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's my bad.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_01: Um, Brian Thomas Jr., uh, he's got Cleveland, Denver, Patriots, uh, Eagles, and Houston in five of the first six weeks.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, I'm afraid it won't happen early for him, and I view him as a pretty good buy-low candidate, you know, maybe once week six comes around.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_01: Um, but when you look at Brian Thomas Jr., he's primarily rolling in the X receiver role.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_01: Um, with Parker Washington projected to do a lot more of the primary slot duties.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_01: You know, last season, Brian Thomas was 71st in the NFL in slot snaps and 178th um in motion rate.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_01: So he was really just hanging out on the outside, combined that with his projected matchups against Denzel Ward, Patrick Surtain, Christian Gonzalez, Quinyon Mitchell for the Eagles, and Stingley for the Texans.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_01: It could be tough sledding for Brian Thomas early on.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_01: Uh, so he's someone that I would say is gonna get off to a slow start and would be a good by low candidate come week five or week six.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_03: And with Parker Washington and Jacoby Myers having this very strong end of seasons, it could be just another round of uh disappointment for the homie.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_03: But of course, you know, unfortunately, I keep forgetting to make a drop for catching up with Kelly or the Cardinals or anything of that sort.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_03: That actually really needs to be brought up on my priority list as we go into week one and they start becoming a much more topic of discussion.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna bookmark that in the back of my mind.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_03: But of course, let's bring Kelly on where she can get started on what's been going on.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_03: Kelly, what is up?
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_00: Where am I?
- 1:05:18unknown: I'm just kidding.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_02: Hi, well, you're not in Vegas anymore.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_02: You were there, yeah.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_02: So talk to us about that draft, national draft day.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_02: What what what the hell?
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_02: What was going on out there?
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_00: So apparently there are like 30,000 submissions plus a year for a holiday to become a national holiday.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_00: And so far they've chosen around eight, from what I understand.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_00: And national fantasy football draft day was officially made a national holiday and a Vegas proclamation as well.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_00: So that was pretty exciting to be there at the very first one.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_02: That's awesome.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's what it was.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_00: It was a bunch of people getting together.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_00: There were about 400 drafters.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_00: There were best balls happening every couple hours.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_00: Um, Adrian Peterson was there, Earl Thomas was there, Austin Eckler was there, and not to mention a slew of analysts.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_00: Um, some of the biggest names in the business.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_00: So it was so exciting.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_02: If you guys have it, please go out there.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_02: First of all, follow Kelly's accounts.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_02: Take a look at all of the great work that she did because she is out.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_02: I know you're still you were still editing some stuff when I talked to you earlier when you got back.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_00: It's slowly trickling out, depending on what platform, if it was long form, short form.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_00: And it was really hard to capture audio, but despite that, overlook any craziness in the audio because some of that um content and some of those discussions were just so fascinating.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_02: All right, before you get to the Cardinals, I just want to ask a quick question.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_02: What was the most meaningful conversation, either on camera or off camera?
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_02: It you don't have to get into too much detail if you don't want to, but what was your most meaningful conversation you had out there?
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_00: Oh, I think the most meaningful conversation I had was with Stefania Bell.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_00: Um, she was able to come for um two days and one night before she went off to uh 49ers camp.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_00: And it was really great catching up with her just because you get to hear, you know, about somebody's passion and their life's career and what's next.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_00: And it was just so inspiring.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_00: And she wasn't on a panel, she wasn't doing anything, wasn't being interviewed, we're just standing around shooting the shit.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_00: And it was probably the best, the best part of my my trip.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_00: Somebody asked if Austin Eckler was cool.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_00: Um, he was, he's very cool.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_00: I've gotten to work with him on a campaign before, one of the most down-to-earth people.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_00: Um, he does his own stuff, he doesn't use handlers and stuff like that.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_00: So that's what I really love.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_00: Still a free agent, by the way, not retired.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_02: Raiders.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_02: He lives in Vegas, doesn't he?
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_02: I thought I heard him say he said he lives out there.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_01: I don't know, he lives out there.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_01: Austin fantasy football goat, dude.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_02: Yep, yep.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_03: Except when I drafted him.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_02: That's probably why.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_02: You know, our our running back class, our I mean, our running back room could use some veteran leadership out there, you know.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_03: That would be better talent.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_02: Anyway, all right, let's talk about some cardinals.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_02: So, what you got for Cardinals news, Kelly?
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of Cardinals news happening right now between you guys already mentioned Trey Benson uh being waived.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_00: He actually made it through the waivers, so nobody picked him up, and now he's on the Cardinals injured reserve.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know exactly what that means for him, but locals we knew that was gonna happen.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_00: Um, Bam Knight, he was just outshining Trey Benson even last year.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_00: So I find it really disrespectful that Bam Knight's name hasn't been on a lot of lips, even though we know he's likely gonna be the RB4, and that's not abnormal for the Cardinals.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_00: However, there's been talk today that James Connor, there's a whole discussion on what is going to happen with his career.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_00: Are the Cardinals gonna choose youth over a veteran?
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_00: Um, so even RB3 is up in the air right now as we speak.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_00: That's been crazy.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_00: Um, fro hole, beloved player, renewed, back um, back out there.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_00: Josh Sweat, off the pup list, reactivated.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_00: That's good.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_00: They swore they weren't gonna trade him in just minutes before we went live.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_00: There was now discussion is Josh Sweat up for trade?
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_00: Uh it's it's been a kind of a crazy wild date, and everybody's wanting Michael Wilson to get re-signed, paid, lock it up right now.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_02: He needs to be he needs to be okay.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_02: So I got I got a real quick question.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_02: So Tyler Algier.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_02: We know we we you just talked about the running backs, right?
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_02: Tyler Algier, what what is your outlook, at least for week one, uh, for him?
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_00: Well, the depth charts that have been coming out had him as RB1 with Love as RB2.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_00: Um, and I think it's gonna be much like the situation that we would have had with Connor, where there's gonna be a lot of split carries between Algier and Love.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_00: Um, maybe that's until love finds his footing.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_00: Um, maybe it's part of that bringing up and nurturing a young rookie player.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_00: But as of right now, they have Algier as RB1 and Love as RB2, and everybody's gonna argue and say they paid him so much money.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_00: They did.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_00: They paid him a lot of money, but I think they also want to get a lot out of that investment and nurturing just like in any job with a mentor is important.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_01: So yeah, he seems very on board with kind of taking that mentorship leadership role, which I mean that could go that could mean a ton for Jeremiah Love.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, especially early on in the career in his career.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_03: Doesn't Jeremiah Love high ankle sprain right now?
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_03: Isn't he like not even playing week one?
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_00: Uh it's touch and go.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, up in the air.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_03: It's up in the air.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_03: High ankle sprain.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_03: That's it's gonna linger the whole year.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_02: But but but it happened, but it but it happened two weeks ago, right?
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_02: It so it happened two weeks ago.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_03: How many times was a high ankle sprain lingered?
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_03: Well, no, you're no players always say like a year to heal.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_00: It it's definitely gonna linger, but we see players play on it all the time, and that's again goes back to the whole idea that he'll be splitting carries regardless.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_00: So we'll see.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_03: But anyway, man, bam knight.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, RB3 on the bottom tier.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_01: The cardinals are no.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_01: I've had my time under the sun with uh Bam Knight.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_01: He he he's a very uh recyclable uh waiver wire person.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_01: I swear he's like always there, and then he's picked up, then he's dropped.
- 1:12:26SPEAKER_01: Like, dude, he you know, he has a hard time finding a home, I feel like.
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_00: For sure.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_00: It reminded me a lot about the Kaisan booty chat.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_00: I know we're not gonna you know throw around a bunch of booty jokes again, but um, I feel like they have a lot of similarities in the way that they're utilized, and I do think it's worth stashing away, especially in best ball or in a league with deep flex positions, because uh they're gonna get utilized.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_03: Definitely RB3 on a bottom five team.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_01: I don't know, that doesn't sound that'll give you fantasy production, though.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_01: That's what we care about on that team.
- 1:13:09SPEAKER_02: No, but you're you're looking at it from a bottom five from a reality standpoint.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_02: That team puts up fantasy points because of the passing.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they they they put up because they're behind all the time, so they've got before they know it, they'll be down 21 to zero.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_02: And then Jacoby Brissett, that happened all the time last year.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_03: Honestly, I don't think it's a hot take to say that I don't think that they'll be the worst team in the division.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_00: No, I don't think they'll be the worst team.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_00: Initially, it was looking a little rough, but after seeing some of the play, some of the chemistry, some of the other teams that are looking like they could be the worst in the league, I I don't see them being the worst.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I can see them averaging about 25 points a game.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_03: If that is the case, they won't be the worst team in the division.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_00: And I think it's important to remember the Cardinals over three and a half.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_01: Let's go for it.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_00: It is over three and a half was the early line.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_00: I think it's gone up since then.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_00: So if you guys didn't get on board on the over, too bad for you.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_00: Um I just feel like it's it's important to remember that we're not fantasy, we're not playing fantasy for a team.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_00: You're not drafting the entire team.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_00: You're your team, my team, they could go 17 and one, and you could still win your fantasy league with a Trey McBride or possibly a Jeremiah Love, who knows?
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_00: But um, definitely one of those receivers, Michael Wilson or Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_00: There are some standout players and IDP.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_00: Don't forget Mac Wilson Sr.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_00: Definitely an excellent IDP stash.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_03: There we go.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_03: But of course, before this episode turns into a two-hour one, unfortunately, we are going to have to wrap it up because I know I could easily just start talking a lot more and get it to that.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, I know, but I won't do that to you guys.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_03: I won't do that to you guys.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_03: But of course, you know, you're gonna want to make sure to follow us on any type of social.

- 1:15:34SPEAKER_03: Any closing remarks, everybody?
- 1:15:36SPEAKER_00: I would like to say that I'm the one that suggested the three and a half over.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_01: Ah, there we go.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_01: I probably looked like right after you said that, and you know, using yeah, I found a book with three and a half, and it was like minus 130.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_01: But no, uh, no closing remarks.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_01: Happy draft season, everybody.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_03: And for next week's episode, of course, us being live will be in the middle of week one.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_03: I believe there's a game going on on Wednesday.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_03: So the play, right?
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_02: That's the following.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_02: No, that's not this.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_02: We've still got one.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_03: We still got one full week.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_03: Uh you know what?
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_03: I got excited.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_03: I got excited, guys.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_03: But of course, for that one, you know what, we'll talk about that when we get there.
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_03: But Wednesday, September 9th.
- 1:16:20SPEAKER_03: There we go.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_03: Good luck, everybody.
