- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys, it is our last break of the
- 0:02Speaker 1: day on this Tuesday. It's been a fun day. Yep, yeah,
- 0:07Speaker 1: thank you guys for listening. We always appreciate your business.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Of course, Carl, you had a question for Steve.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I did? I did?
- 0:14Speaker 1: All right, Steve, what do you want your life to
- 0:18Speaker 1: be about? You?
- 0:20Speaker 2: Sixty eight?
- 0:21Speaker 1: You talk about your age a lot and your agent. Well,
- 0:24Speaker 1: you're looking good.
- 0:25Speaker 2: What do you want your life to be about? Well?
- 0:29Speaker 2: I think that's a question that everybody should ask they self,
- 0:33Speaker 2: and sooner than later. The saying goes, the two most
- 0:37Speaker 2: important days of your life are the day you're born
- 0:39Speaker 2: and the day you discover why what your life should
- 0:43Speaker 2: be about. It was kind of like what the subject
- 0:47Speaker 2: was we were talking about on stage at invest Fest.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Your life should be first of all, we all have choices.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Everybody gets to decide. Matter of fact, we're the only
- 0:57Speaker 2: creature that God created that he gave that power choice too.
- 1:01Speaker 2: A bird has no option but to be a bird.
- 1:04Speaker 2: A bear has to be a bear. Your squirrel has
- 1:07Speaker 2: to be a squirrel. And this is what they do,
- 1:10Speaker 2: and you have to do the things that they do.
- 1:12Speaker 2: We get to pick and choose along the way what
- 1:15Speaker 2: we get to be, what we get to do, and
- 1:20Speaker 2: who we choose as to who we are. We get
- 1:24Speaker 2: to make those choices. Now I've made my choices, and
- 1:28Speaker 2: as I suggested to young people that invest Fest, it's
- 1:32Speaker 2: all about how you brand yourself. And branding has a
- 1:37Speaker 2: lot to do with who you are. But the branding
- 1:42Speaker 2: part has to be tied to a few things. Number one,
- 1:46Speaker 2: it has to be tied to your gift and purpose.
- 1:54Speaker 2: You need those two things to get cleared up you first.
- 1:58Speaker 2: First things first, a person should understand what their gift is.
- 2:03Speaker 2: What are you gifted at? Realizing that God never created
- 2:07Speaker 2: a soul without giving them a gift, we all understand that, Well,
- 2:11Speaker 2: what is yours? It is the discovery of your gift,
- 2:15Speaker 2: the admission of your gift, and the pursuit of your
- 2:19Speaker 2: gift that will lead you to your purpose. Once again,
- 2:24Speaker 2: the two biggest days in your life or the day
- 2:26Speaker 2: you're born and the day you discover why. I was
- 2:31Speaker 2: walking through invest Fest and somebody stopped and asked me
- 2:33Speaker 2: a question, why is it important for you og to
- 2:36Speaker 2: come through here and invest Fest? I said, because it
- 2:40Speaker 2: is imperative that I share as much knowledge as I
- 2:44Speaker 2: can While I'm here with those that I know who
- 2:48Speaker 2: have a thirst forward, because, like I've said on this
- 2:51Speaker 2: show many times, there are many people I know. Most
- 2:54Speaker 2: people I know want to be happy and successful. I
- 2:57Speaker 2: have found measures of both of those, and so I
- 3:00Speaker 2: don't mind sharing the principles and concepts that lead to that.
- 3:05Speaker 2: But you have to come away with your own brand,
- 3:08Speaker 2: and then you have to remember that everything you do
- 3:10Speaker 2: is about your brand. When you get on a podcast,
- 3:14Speaker 2: you have to stay on brand. When you make a
- 3:17Speaker 2: decision as to what you're going to get involved with,
- 3:20Speaker 2: it should be on brand. It should fit who you
- 3:23Speaker 2: are and what you are. Here for who you are
- 3:27Speaker 2: and what you are. That's what your brand should always
- 3:30Speaker 2: be about. You can't pick everything. Everything is not for you.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Every contract they asked you to sign, you shouldn't sign.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Somebody came to me the other day with these show ideas,
- 3:42Speaker 2: and that's not what I'm looking for. I'm not looking
- 3:46Speaker 2: for that anymore. I've had a lot of shows. I
- 3:50Speaker 2: can actually say that I've been content with being on
- 3:54Speaker 2: TV as long as I have, so I'm looking for
- 3:57Speaker 2: other things. But if you keep doing what you been doing,
- 4:00Speaker 2: you gonna keep getting what you've been getting so I
- 4:03Speaker 2: have to make a decision to turn down those things
- 4:06Speaker 2: that get presented to me. If I want to stay
- 4:10Speaker 2: on brand with the new brand that I choose to be,
- 4:14Speaker 2: which is more of a business person, more of a businessman,
- 4:18Speaker 2: I gotta stay on brand. I can't keep picking what
- 4:22Speaker 2: I used to pick. I can't keep showing up for
- 4:24Speaker 2: peerans fees. Something has to be about ownership. Something has
- 4:31Speaker 2: to be about making you money while you sleep instead
- 4:34Speaker 2: of while you're making money on your feet. I've done
- 4:38Speaker 2: that for years and years and years. So you have
- 4:41Speaker 2: to make a decision, and you have to discover that
- 4:44Speaker 2: about yourself and stay the course. A big part of
- 4:49Speaker 2: it is not being afraid to reinvent yourself. You can't
- 4:52Speaker 2: get stuck on Chuck. You know how many people I
- 4:56Speaker 2: know man whose acting career has been over and now
- 5:01Speaker 2: they my age and older, and they still out there
- 5:04Speaker 2: trying to wait on the roll to come up in
- 5:06Speaker 2: that they can get picked for. And it's so few rolls.
- 5:09Speaker 2: The older you get, older rolls are much infrequent, much
- 5:13Speaker 2: more infrequent than younger roles. I got to the point
- 5:16Speaker 2: where I watch people that I know in their seventies
- 5:19Speaker 2: out here reading for parts clearly it's say forty thirty
- 5:22Speaker 2: year old, and they go out there to try to
- 5:25Speaker 2: convince the director that it should be them. It could
- 5:28Speaker 2: be time to reinvent yourself. It's nothing wrong with that.
- 5:33Speaker 2: It's nothing wrong with that. Somebody asked me recently. They said, Steve,
- 5:38Speaker 2: how long you been out of stand up? And I
- 5:40Speaker 2: couldn't remember if it was twenty twelve or twenty fifteen,
- 5:45Speaker 2: but I thought about it. I think it's twenty twelve.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And my last show was at the MGM Gardens and
- 5:55Speaker 2: I sold out fifteen thousand seats and that was my farewell.
- 5:59Speaker 2: That was my last time. And somebody even said, ask me, dog,
- 6:03Speaker 2: how can you do that? How can you walk away
- 6:05Speaker 2: from stand up? I said, because it's time to turn
- 6:07Speaker 2: the page. I gotta do something else. I got a
- 6:10Speaker 2: TV career that I'm building now, and I think that
- 6:13Speaker 2: that stand up gonna interfere with that because I'm gonna
- 6:16Speaker 2: say something on that stage that ain't gonna fit the
- 6:18Speaker 2: brand of family Feud and all these other things I got,
- 6:22Speaker 2: and then the sponsors is gonna pull and then that's
- 6:25Speaker 2: gonna be the end of that. Understand who you are,
- 6:29Speaker 2: what you are, and why you are, and stay on
- 6:31Speaker 2: brand and make that decision and do the best that
- 6:35Speaker 2: you can and God will take care of the rest.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Have a great day. Talk to God today, y'all, he
- 6:39Speaker 2: would absolutely love to hear from you.
