- 0:08Speaker 1: And I invited you here.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Thought I made myself perfectly clear. When you're a guest
- 0:18Speaker 2: to my home, you gotta come to me empty. And
- 0:25Speaker 2: I said, no, guests, your own presences presence enough. And
- 0:31Speaker 2: I already had too much stuff, So how did you
- 0:36Speaker 2: dare to surbey me?
- 0:49Speaker 1: Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm pretcher wine girl.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It's eleven am. I've already been to the Burbank Walmart.
- 0:59Speaker 1: It was a fine you know, unsettling and not at
- 1:02Speaker 1: the same time. The customer service was excellent. They had
- 1:06Speaker 1: a giant skeleton in the shape of a saber toothed tiger,
- 1:09Speaker 1: which I feel like is a confused message for Halloween.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I don't know what we're talking about when we have it.
- 1:14Speaker 1: That's a museum piece, that's not Halloween. I don't think
- 1:19Speaker 1: that's going to take off like the other skeleton has.
- 1:22Speaker 1: But who am I to say? I didn't really I
- 1:23Speaker 1: didn't know the skeleton would take off. Why was I
- 1:26Speaker 1: at Walmart? I had to return something. It was my
- 1:28Speaker 1: birthday last week and someone got me the wrong thing.
- 1:31Speaker 1: So now it's a whole journey. But oh, I should
- 1:35Speaker 1: talk about found coffee. I haven't talked about Found Coffee
- 1:37Speaker 1: in a long time. It's an Eagle Rock, California. They
- 1:39Speaker 1: do not sponsor the podcast. What I'm doing here is
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm secretly building up a bill for them. Eventually we're
- 1:46Speaker 1: gonna slam them with an advertising bill and then they'll
- 1:49Speaker 1: be out of business. But in the meantime, you should go.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I love Found Coffee. The other well, speaking of Halloween,
- 1:56Speaker 1: look at me go. This is because I've had about
- 1:58Speaker 1: five hundred milligrams caffeine already. But on the way from
- 2:03Speaker 1: Found Coffee, I noticed that our local car wash is
- 2:05Speaker 1: now doing a haunted car wash. I don't know what
- 2:09Speaker 1: goes on in a haunted car wash, and I don't
- 2:12Speaker 1: want to know, but that's a new option. Everyone wants
- 2:15Speaker 1: to get in on the Halloween game. I don't know
- 2:17Speaker 1: why it's bigger than Christmas At this point, I think
- 2:20Speaker 1: you don't get a Christmas car wash. It's not a
- 2:23Speaker 1: bad idea Blaggio car wash or reach out. What else
- 2:27Speaker 1: is going on? Oh the other thing, I'm still trying
- 2:30Speaker 1: to figure out what's going on with Peter Teal and
- 2:31Speaker 1: the Antichrist. I don't know if I almost don't want
- 2:35Speaker 1: you to google this because this could ruin your algorithm.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Do you say antichrist or antichrist? Neither sounds right to me.
- 2:43Speaker 1: But Peter Teal is waging war on the Antichrist, and
- 2:48Speaker 1: that's all I really know. But thank you Peter. Okay, well, oh, Patreon.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Of course we've got to mention Patreon Patreon dot calm slash.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I said, no, give the amount of material there. I mean,
- 3:03Speaker 1: it's a treasure trove. Bonus episodes of the show. Also
- 3:08Speaker 1: episodes of me ranting about the Real Housewives of Salt
- 3:10Speaker 1: Lake City and then secret lives of Mormon wives, and
- 3:13Speaker 1: then who knows what else. I watched a little bit
- 3:15Speaker 1: of Sister Wives last night and season twenty things are
- 3:19Speaker 1: not going well for the polygamists. Come to Patreon support
- 3:24Speaker 1: the podcast. Okay, I mean this has been thirty minutes.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It's time to get into the podcast. Everyone loves today's guest.
- 3:31Speaker 1: He's fantastic. It's Jacob Wisaki. Jacob, welcome to iad No. Hello,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I mean I brought a lot of information.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Ham there's a rule in podcasting, can't talk to your intro.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I follow the rules.
- 3:46Speaker 1: You did it very well.
- 3:47Speaker 3: I'm a consumer of the media. I understand how it works.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Occasionally the guest pops in.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I almost did, because I would have welcomed it. That
- 3:55Speaker 3: burbank Walmart's fucking nuts.
- 3:57Speaker 1: It is the greyest space I've ever Gray.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Is a great way to describe it. It is liminal
- 4:02Speaker 3: in that it is so far away from being in
- 4:05Speaker 3: Los Angeles, California, yet it is here.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yes, it really feels like, Oh now I'm in another
- 4:09Speaker 1: I have just gone to another realm.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Yeah. Have you been to like more rural Walmart?
- 4:14Speaker 1: Well, I grew up in Utah, Okay, so I've been
- 4:16Speaker 1: to I would say, almost any type of Walmart you
- 4:18Speaker 1: can imagine, and I've been to them every time of day.
- 4:23Speaker 1: When I go visit my parents. Sometimes I'll just go
- 4:24Speaker 1: wander around the Walmart late at night just for the experience.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I've seen. Walmart is crystal clear.
- 4:34Speaker 1: The weirdest thing to see is a full family at
- 4:37Speaker 1: Walmart at that time of day. Yeah, okay, it's like
- 4:40Speaker 1: maybe vampires. I don't know what's happening.
- 4:42Speaker 3: It's good that we're all out.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm glad.
- 4:45Speaker 3: It's good that they're all out together. That's nice. You
- 4:48Speaker 3: have to see a family in arms.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, of course, of course, yeah, this Walmart, and
- 4:53Speaker 1: I'll also say it's it's in a parking lot with
- 4:55Speaker 1: also an Alta and a Sephora. You have the tension
- 4:58Speaker 1: there between these two makeups or there constantly fighting, constantly fighting?
- 5:02Speaker 1: Who allowed that to happen? You can't have both?
- 5:05Speaker 3: No, and how do you choose as a consumer? Oh?
- 5:07Speaker 1: Of course?
- 5:10Speaker 3: Oh, there's a spot at Alta.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I guess there's also a target within walking distance of
- 5:15Speaker 1: this Walmart.
- 5:16Speaker 3: I mean that's we're taught. You're talking about the beauty
- 5:18Speaker 3: of Burbank at this point.
- 5:20Speaker 1: There's room for everyone, and you got it all. There's
- 5:23Speaker 1: also kind of a religious workout center over here.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Tell me more religious, like God religious Christian gym?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Why did I call a gym a workout center?
- 5:35Speaker 3: It's not wrong. You weren't wrong. Don't be mean to yourself.
- 5:38Speaker 3: You weren't wrong.
- 5:39Speaker 1: My English classes are coming along, well, they have a
- 5:42Speaker 1: Christian gym.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Great.
- 5:44Speaker 1: This is a new phenomenon which I don't understand.
- 5:48Speaker 3: It's the race for the third space, that mythical third space.
- 5:54Speaker 3: They need it, they need it, and then we also
- 5:56Speaker 3: got to get Christ in the mix.
- 5:58Speaker 1: People love going to the gym and church. How do
- 6:00Speaker 1: we combine those two things.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I don't know. I guess it's a two for one.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it is, Yeah, interesting, a spiritual body practice, right,
- 6:07Speaker 1: do you go there on Sundays? Interesting?
- 6:09Speaker 3: Once a week gym, once a week gym.
- 6:11Speaker 1: They're now remember finding some apple for people. This is
- 6:13Speaker 1: all starting to add up.
- 6:14Speaker 3: It's good marketing at this point. Yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 1: But then the music it's probably Christian.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Rock, not fun.
- 6:19Speaker 1: No one likes it, even the people who say they.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Like it, even the people who make it.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Yeah, they're like, well, I'd rather be doing something else.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just getting my bag.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, of course. How are you doing.
- 6:31Speaker 3: I'm good man, I'm good. Beautiful Burbank, California. You know,
- 6:35Speaker 3: nice early morning pod. It's great because you don't have
- 6:38Speaker 3: to do anything before this, right, and I technically don't
- 6:41Speaker 3: have to do anything after this.
- 6:43Speaker 1: It really I did something. It's a dangerous thing to
- 6:47Speaker 1: do a podcast early in the morning.
- 6:48Speaker 3: I know, it's kind of nice. I also have tripled
- 6:51Speaker 3: up on caffeine in a way that I normally don't.
- 6:54Speaker 1: What sort of caffeine were you consuming?
- 6:55Speaker 3: So I've moved away from liquid caffeine, okay as a
- 7:00Speaker 3: regular and I take a caffeine pill with my vitamins
- 7:04Speaker 3: in the morning. Why, I just I just think it
- 7:08Speaker 3: just kind of gets in the system in a way
- 7:09Speaker 3: that's a little better. And I don't like feel like
- 7:12Speaker 3: I crash. Oh, and it doesn't get me like because
- 7:16Speaker 3: sometimes you overshoot and then you're just.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Like, oh, buzzing every single hands will be shaking at
- 7:22Speaker 1: some point. Just wait, keep an eye on my body
- 7:24Speaker 1: and knocked in.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yeah I'm locked in. All I'll ring a bell and
- 7:27Speaker 3: you start to shake. But yeah, it's it's nice. And
- 7:31Speaker 3: then sometimes like you don't have to take it, Like
- 7:34Speaker 3: if I want like a slow morning, right, it's not
- 7:37Speaker 3: like you get hooked in the same way I think
- 7:39Speaker 3: you do with like coffee and the ritual of like
- 7:41Speaker 3: brewing your coffee or making your espresso or whatever. So
- 7:44Speaker 3: like on the weekends, if I want to like be lazy,
- 7:46Speaker 3: I just don't take my caffeine bill and I can
- 7:49Speaker 3: just kind of like lumber around.
- 7:51Speaker 1: See, for me, it's not about feeling lazy. It's about
- 7:53Speaker 1: feeling like wanting to be awake at all. Sure when
- 7:56Speaker 1: I wake up, I'm just I mean, the most miserable
- 7:59Speaker 1: person you could possibly encounter, just not.
- 8:03Speaker 3: A sort of a grumbly bear situation.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I would go beyond that, okay, just I would say hateful. Sure,
- 8:10Speaker 1: there's a lot of spot me in the morning, so
- 8:14Speaker 1: until I've had some level of caffeine, it's just I
- 8:18Speaker 1: can't you can't be around me.
- 8:20Speaker 3: And now what happens if you don't get the juice?
- 8:22Speaker 1: If I don't get the juice? I mean, I question.
- 8:26Speaker 1: There was a huge part of my life that I
- 8:27Speaker 1: wasn't getting the juice in the morning, and it was
- 8:29Speaker 1: just like, well, what's wrong with me? Well, it's because
- 8:31Speaker 1: I don't have the normal brain chemistry of other people.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Then you get into this and you're like, oh, now
- 8:37Speaker 1: I get a lovely beverage in the morning, and then
- 8:40Speaker 1: about an hour after waking up, I can communicate with
- 8:42Speaker 1: other people and at that point I can start doing
- 8:45Speaker 1: my what's the game that I play connections?
- 8:48Speaker 3: I don't know what this is.
- 8:49Speaker 1: You don't connection.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Word is a word game.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like a word game, kind of in the
- 8:53Speaker 1: same vein as wordle. Okay, I think it's better than wordle.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Ohay, fucking shots fire.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You heard me. Wordle is just a guessing game. It's
- 9:04Speaker 1: just you know, a slot machine. Essentially, isn't there strap
- 9:07Speaker 1: the strapped They're almost strap.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Because it's like S is more than T or whatever.
- 9:14Speaker 1: But people talk about strategy with a slot machine. Yeah,
- 9:18Speaker 1: and there's it's like, no, never have a.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Friend who figured out Roulette. Yes, and they're like, I
- 9:23Speaker 3: just I figured out the system. It's the system. And
- 9:26Speaker 3: then they go and they're like, well, there's actually just
- 9:29Speaker 3: some error with my system.
- 9:30Speaker 1: It's like, well, I gave you my money because you
- 9:32Speaker 1: were so confident. Yeah, and now I'm realizing, oh, this
- 9:35Speaker 1: is still purely chance. Yeah, and you're delusional. Do you
- 9:39Speaker 1: gamble at all?
- 9:39Speaker 3: I do? I like I like a controlled gambling situation whereas, uh,
- 9:46Speaker 3: I'm going in with one hundred dollars okay, and then
- 9:49Speaker 3: I will leave right And that either means I'm gonna
- 9:52Speaker 3: sit and slow play and see if I can accumulate,
- 9:55Speaker 3: or sometimes I just go for like the one big
- 9:57Speaker 3: dopamine hit and I goes like straight to Roulette, put
- 10:00Speaker 3: it on black and just like hope, and I like
- 10:03Speaker 3: channel my psychic.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Running an errand just pop in.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I love like a road trip where there's like a
- 10:10Speaker 3: little dinky casino, like I'd rather stop there for like
- 10:14Speaker 3: my little like stretch and break situation and then like
- 10:17Speaker 3: play twenty in a slot and haal.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Some cigarette smoke.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Yes, yes, I used to smoke SIGs. I don't smoke
- 10:25Speaker 3: cigarettes anymore. So it is like a cheap Yeah, of
- 10:27Speaker 3: course it's a bit of a cheap.
- 10:28Speaker 1: That actually is. It's always shocking to find people smoking
- 10:31Speaker 1: in a casino. I mean like it's wicked to be
- 10:33Speaker 1: in dos.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Truly, it's the last frontier.
- 10:36Speaker 1: It really is. It feels like I can't believe they
- 10:38Speaker 1: haven't banned this yet.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Please keep it. I mean, I think it's part of
- 10:42Speaker 3: the charm. Yeah, some places I think are like moving
- 10:44Speaker 3: away from it in the Year of Our Lord twenty
- 10:46Speaker 3: twenty five. But I'm like, you're not a true casino. No, no, no,
- 10:50Speaker 3: If you don't.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Reek and if they want gen z, they need to
- 10:54Speaker 1: keep the cigarettes.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Well the gen z they're smoking stokes.
- 10:56Speaker 1: They love a sig.
- 10:57Speaker 3: They're going for SIGs. They're kind of like they're getting
- 11:00Speaker 3: off the baba the vape. Nice. Yeah, just fucking blast
- 11:03Speaker 3: to see.
- 11:04Speaker 1: They're the same thing.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I would argue maybe worse prop I don't know, Yeah,
- 11:08Speaker 3: we don't know what the science ripping it in your
- 11:11Speaker 3: house now, Yes.
- 11:13Speaker 1: And a cigarettes kind of a more of a leather jacket.
- 11:15Speaker 3: For sure.
- 11:16Speaker 1: You're not you're not vaping off like a You're not
- 11:19Speaker 1: sitting on a motorcycle vaping, I hope not. No, you're
- 11:22Speaker 1: not on your Harley. You're not at a slot machine
- 11:25Speaker 1: with a vape.
- 11:26Speaker 3: No. No, If you are, you're losing.
- 11:28Speaker 1: You're losing that. The secret to slot machines got genuine
- 11:32Speaker 1: to back. Yeah, back to the Walmart just briefly. When
- 11:38Speaker 1: was the last time you were in there?
- 11:39Speaker 3: I was actually there pretty recently for what reason. I
- 11:43Speaker 3: needed uh like three international food items that that they
- 11:49Speaker 3: tend to carry, such as I needed goju chong okay,
- 11:53Speaker 3: you would be a fermented bean paste like a cream
- 11:55Speaker 3: bean paste. I needed jerk chicken seasoning that they have there.
- 11:59Speaker 3: They have like a I forget what it's called, but
- 12:01Speaker 3: it's like a jarred and what it was the other
- 12:04Speaker 3: thing I think like, uh like a mirran like rice
- 12:09Speaker 3: wine vinegar.
- 12:10Speaker 1: This feels like you were creating a chopped basket.
- 12:14Speaker 3: It was one meal and then I just like, I
- 12:15Speaker 3: need a.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Chicken for the pantry right er pantry?
- 12:19Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 12:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Wow, you make a lot of jerk chicken.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I used to work in a Jamaican food truck. Really yeah,
- 12:28Speaker 3: as a chef, I cook, I'll cook. Yeah, I mean
- 12:32Speaker 3: like on a food truck, everybody kind of does everything.
- 12:35Speaker 3: It's kind of like just all hands on deck. So yeah,
- 12:38Speaker 3: I was cooking, I was prepping, I was cutting, I
- 12:40Speaker 3: was frying, and I was also the token white.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Sure, how did you end up in this truck? I
- 12:47Speaker 1: feel like unless you, like, did you submit an application
- 12:51Speaker 1: to the truck?
- 12:52Speaker 3: It was kind of like a family friend. My mom's
- 12:55Speaker 3: was really close with this guy named Dylan who they
- 12:59Speaker 3: used to work together, and he had a side business
- 13:02Speaker 3: of a Jamaican food truck. He's from Belize. He's Belizean
- 13:06Speaker 3: and cooks really really good Caribbean food with his family.
- 13:11Speaker 3: And during the pandemic, shit was tough. There was no
- 13:14Speaker 3: jobs and I was looking for work and he was
- 13:17Speaker 3: kind enough to like, come work.
- 13:19Speaker 1: On the truck and had you cooked much before this?
- 13:22Speaker 3: My first job was like a dishwasher food prep.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Like way like in my know what was the restaurant?
- 13:27Speaker 3: It wasn't a restaurant. It was called Delightful Dinners like
- 13:31Speaker 3: this and it was essentially like Hello Fresh, but before
- 13:39Speaker 3: so This was a crazy concept, and I wonder how
- 13:42Speaker 3: I would do today. But it was like a bunch
- 13:44Speaker 3: of wine moms would show up, then they drink wine,
- 13:48Speaker 3: and we had these stations that would be a complete meal.
- 13:52Speaker 3: And all of this stuff was pre measured, so it
- 13:55Speaker 3: was like chicken tortilla soup, and this scoop is the
- 14:00Speaker 3: perfect measurement for the amount of buoyan you need, and
- 14:02Speaker 3: this scoop is the perfect for the amount of green
- 14:04Speaker 3: peppers you need. And you'd construct a meal to take
- 14:08Speaker 3: home and freeze to pull out to cook fresh home
- 14:13Speaker 3: ingredient meals.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Right, And what sort of space was this taking place.
- 14:18Speaker 3: It was in like a commercial kitchen space.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and it did well.
- 14:22Speaker 3: No, it lasted like a year and a half, two years,
- 14:26Speaker 3: something like that. Yeah, it was very ahead of itself, right,
- 14:31Speaker 3: And obviously those things are very popular now where it's
- 14:33Speaker 3: like I want fresh ingredients sent to my house so
- 14:35Speaker 3: I can cook and we can bring the family back
- 14:38Speaker 3: to the.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Of course, that's what's wrong with America.
- 14:41Speaker 3: We're not eating together at the table.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Well, but this one would send you allow you to
- 14:47Speaker 1: drive home drunk. Yeah, okay, yeah, interesting.
- 14:50Speaker 3: These women would get hammed. They would just get tanked.
- 14:55Speaker 3: And my boss was very, very Christian guy, and I
- 14:58Speaker 3: always thought it was an interesting moral crossover because he
- 15:01Speaker 3: would make us pray before work and I had to
- 15:04Speaker 3: lie about being religious WHOA to get the job. I
- 15:06Speaker 3: was like, yeah, totally mad, that's really weird. And every
- 15:10Speaker 3: shifted he'd be like, yeah, maybe doing his little shit.
- 15:14Speaker 3: But then you'd also allow people to just get absolutely incinerated.
- 15:18Speaker 1: He's probably running this gym now.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Maybe yeah, yeah, yeah, I wonder I I'd pay five
- 15:25Speaker 3: hundred and fifty bucks to see what that guy's up to,
- 15:28Speaker 3: and no penny more.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I like the extra fifty dollars, a little walking around money.
- 15:33Speaker 1: I worked as. My first job was as a dishwasher.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Well yeah, at both Schlatsky's Delhi and Gecko's Mexican Grill
- 15:40Speaker 1: ooh rip to both of those.
- 15:41Speaker 3: What was the grossest thing that you had to regularly wash?
- 15:45Speaker 1: Oh that's a great question. But I later worked at
- 15:48Speaker 1: a bakery where we also had to wash things and
- 15:50Speaker 1: you had to wash out. They would cook full turkeys
- 15:53Speaker 1: in like a tin and like scraping essentially turkey off
- 15:58Speaker 1: of the thing into water hot water. Nightmare. What about you?
- 16:02Speaker 3: I think like sour cream interesting because it curdles under
- 16:06Speaker 3: the heat.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Oh why was it under the heat the.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Heat of the quickly, Yeah, because you're washing with hot
- 16:13Speaker 3: water for sanitation. Hot water, yeah, exactly. And so you'd
- 16:17Speaker 3: be washing out the cabro of a that of sour
- 16:20Speaker 3: cream because the wine moms need it for their Greco
- 16:23Speaker 3: Roman Fiesta chicken or whatever, and you'd wash it and
- 16:28Speaker 3: it would just like curdle, and then the smell would wash. Yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 3: There's a couple of things that like, really, I can
- 16:34Speaker 3: no longer enjoy because I just for to.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Eat sour cream.
- 16:38Speaker 3: No, I'm out interesting, I'm fully out.
- 16:40Speaker 1: People have very strong opinions about sour creams, even while
- 16:42Speaker 1: they're not cleaning it.
- 16:43Speaker 3: I don't get it even before the clean I'm just
- 16:45Speaker 3: it's like, okay, cool, I guess I'll eat some bad milk,
- 16:50Speaker 3: but it cools my burrito down, so I'm I'm winning.
- 16:53Speaker 1: It adds some tangs.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Are you pro sour cream?
- 16:56Speaker 1: I wouldn't say pro is a strong.
- 16:59Speaker 3: FU can love it.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I'm with the sour cream Council. Okay, and everyone, you're
- 17:06Speaker 1: sorry you're morning with a bowl. Okay, that's all I'm saying.
- 17:08Speaker 3: You're on the propaganda train. Man, I fucking smell it
- 17:11Speaker 3: on you.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Get a spoon, get a straw, get into your sour cream. No,
- 17:16Speaker 1: I don't mind.
- 17:17Speaker 3: It neutral a neutral party. Yeah.
- 17:20Speaker 1: When I find it in a burrito, I'm like, well,
- 17:21Speaker 1: they put another ingredient, an ingredient and thank god, bang
- 17:24Speaker 1: for your buck. Yeah, bang for your buck. I would
- 17:27Speaker 1: prefer guacamole in the place of that. How do you
- 17:29Speaker 1: feel about crimme fresh?
- 17:31Speaker 3: I'm just kind of not on the krema, the crem
- 17:34Speaker 3: and the cream.
- 17:35Speaker 1: You won't do it.
- 17:36Speaker 3: I don't even really do Mayo.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Mao is another category.
- 17:39Speaker 3: I'll hit an aoli maybe interesting, maybe right, And that's
- 17:43Speaker 3: just I guess good marketing.
- 17:45Speaker 1: It is because it is mayo. It's the same it
- 17:47Speaker 1: is with some sort of flavors.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you put a little garlic or a little steak
- 17:51Speaker 3: in there, some.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Uh no mayonnaise. I've like learned to deal with.
- 17:58Speaker 3: I can like be a big boy, be like okay, fine,
- 18:01Speaker 3: I'm gonna eat it. I'll try, but I don't get it.
- 18:03Speaker 3: I don't get what we're getting out of it, right,
- 18:05Speaker 3: I guess compared to you, like a mustard or just
- 18:08Speaker 3: the taste of salami. The taste is I don't eat
- 18:10Speaker 3: it more wet man.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Some sandwhich is the bread is too dry and you
- 18:15Speaker 1: need something there to wet it up. And whose fault that's,
- 18:19Speaker 1: you know, ultimately the baker. And we've got to go
- 18:21Speaker 1: all the way back. It's not even the restaurant, it's
- 18:24Speaker 1: the baker.
- 18:24Speaker 3: I say, we blame the farmers, but if we should
- 18:26Speaker 3: just get back to the grain, the dry grain.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah, whoever was the person with the scythe ultimately is
- 18:33Speaker 1: to blame for mayonnaise. No. I I can eat essentially anything.
- 18:39Speaker 1: I had something to eat recently that i've I wish
- 18:41Speaker 1: I could remember. It was. Oh, it was a tuna melt. Okay,
- 18:44Speaker 1: first time eating a tuna melt.
- 18:46Speaker 3: It was your first time?
- 18:47Speaker 1: Last time? Only made it halfway through?
- 18:50Speaker 3: Yeah, what did you not like about it?
- 18:52Speaker 1: It was heavy, it was wet, it was hot fish. Yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 1: it's so soft.
- 18:58Speaker 3: I'm right there with you, buddy. Have you had one before?
- 19:01Speaker 3: I have not?
- 19:01Speaker 1: Okay, I don't eat fish. You don't eat fish.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I don't really like fish.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Okay, Well, then this is gonna be a taste.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Like drowning to me. It has a I think I
- 19:09Speaker 3: have like a maybe a bit of a trauma trigger.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Right, have you drowned?
- 19:15Speaker 3: I'm currently not currently not so. I grew up in Sokel, right,
- 19:22Speaker 3: we could ride the shitty bus to the beach, sure,
- 19:25Speaker 3: And I feel like the culture of being a kid
- 19:29Speaker 3: was like you swim until you almost drown and then
- 19:32Speaker 3: you go in and that's when you're done. At beautiful beach.
- 19:37Speaker 3: And there was a couple of times where you're there's
- 19:39Speaker 3: a couple of times where you're really like having fun
- 19:41Speaker 3: and you're being a young man, and then you get
- 19:44Speaker 3: caught in a riptid and you're like, don't know, I
- 19:46Speaker 3: honestly don't know about this one, right, and then you
- 19:48Speaker 3: like barely and it's like that's kind of the same
- 19:52Speaker 3: taste as fish.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Is that like, yeah, no, I was in the ocean
- 19:57Speaker 1: for the first time in a long time recently, and
- 19:59Speaker 1: it's way scarier than I expected.
- 20:02Speaker 3: If. Yeah, man, it is really out of control. It's
- 20:05Speaker 3: it's you have to really respect it. Yes, it's not
- 20:09Speaker 3: a lake, it's not a river. No, it's so different,
- 20:12Speaker 3: and you can get tricked. You can be like, oh,
- 20:14Speaker 3: it's calm, the waves are only two feet and then
- 20:16Speaker 3: for whatever reason, there's just like a six foot set
- 20:19Speaker 3: and you're fucked horrifying.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Do you know Josh Sharp no comedian Josh He drowned
- 20:25Speaker 1: in Mexico. I guess, like technically, does when you drown
- 20:29Speaker 1: do you die? Or is it he was knocked out
- 20:32Speaker 1: and washed up on the shore basically, And.
- 20:34Speaker 3: I think to me, that's cause of death, right, like,
- 20:39Speaker 3: drown is I think you almost drowned, almost dround. Yeah,
- 20:42Speaker 3: to me, drown is dead. And even though we can
- 20:44Speaker 3: look that up.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Jamie, what is the final word on drowning?
- 20:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I would really like to get to the bottom
- 20:54Speaker 3: of that. It looks as if, yes, it's it's pretty final.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, that's the final word. Okay, So he almost around,
- 21:00Speaker 1: but like to the point that, like some his brain
- 21:04Speaker 1: I think essentially kind of shut down for a minute.
- 21:06Speaker 1: And to me, it's like, okay, if.
- 21:07Speaker 3: You cross over, I'll give it to you.
- 21:09Speaker 1: If yeah, then you have a best seller on your hands,
- 21:17Speaker 1: all kinds of I mean, your career opens up in
- 21:20Speaker 1: a hue.
- 21:20Speaker 3: I wish I could write an angel book. I know
- 21:25Speaker 3: it would be good that book tour, Go.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Be Reckless in the ocean, go for it. Are you
- 21:31Speaker 1: a beach guy in general?
- 21:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm kind of like for me unfortunately a classic
- 21:36Speaker 3: so Calcy.
- 21:37Speaker 1: You have a bit of a beach vibe.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Thank you. I really appreciate you.
- 21:40Speaker 1: This is not a bad thing. It's a good thing.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I like all versions of going to the beach. But
- 21:46Speaker 3: I'm a guy who's like I'm gonna get there early
- 21:47Speaker 3: and I'm going to stay all day.
- 21:50Speaker 1: And are you reading? What are you doing? You're playing
- 21:51Speaker 1: in the sand, You're splashing in the water.
- 21:53Speaker 3: All of it, Wow, all of it. You're I think
- 21:57Speaker 3: it's a great way to like get away from the
- 21:59Speaker 3: phone for like an extenule time. Or I think a
- 22:02Speaker 3: lot of it is just like focusing on kind of
- 22:05Speaker 3: like doing nothing and enjoying just like the sounds and
- 22:08Speaker 3: the sights, and like maybe you're with some friends and
- 22:11Speaker 3: so you've got like some fellowship and community, and it's
- 22:14Speaker 3: kind of about the nothingness of it, right, and then
- 22:17Speaker 3: you get to fill that nothing with like little things
- 22:19Speaker 3: and it's sand castle time and it's swim time, and
- 22:21Speaker 3: it's like go for a walk time or nap time.
- 22:24Speaker 1: You're making this sound way more appealing to me because
- 22:26Speaker 1: I just think I'm tired and there's an hour drive
- 22:30Speaker 1: home and I want to take a shower.
- 22:33Speaker 3: So I think that maybe if you thought about it,
- 22:35Speaker 3: is like it's a whole day. It's like Disneyland, Right,
- 22:38Speaker 3: it's not. It's not a three hour you pop in
- 22:40Speaker 3: and then go home. Right, you're going to do the
- 22:43Speaker 3: whole thing, right, Yeah, but it is a lot of sun.
- 22:45Speaker 3: You gotta be careful.
- 22:46Speaker 1: I know, I feel like do tan.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of get a little alliver.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Okay, you're very lucky for me, not a you're a
- 22:53Speaker 1: little more fair there. Yes, So there's a lot of
- 22:57Speaker 1: worrying about reapplying the sunscreen and have I got enough
- 23:01Speaker 1: on in the first place.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Look the tent technology in the last five years, Kent technology,
- 23:06Speaker 3: it's gotten crazy for beachwear, Like what people are just
- 23:10Speaker 3: there's all these like things that you can just pop
- 23:12Speaker 3: up and all of a sudden you're shaded. And it's
- 23:14Speaker 3: like I would have loved that when I was a kid. Right,
- 23:16Speaker 3: there's all these like and it's just the wind and
- 23:19Speaker 3: it just uses the wind to keep up and you're
- 23:21Speaker 3: shaded and wow, yeah.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Not doing anything for anyone.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Old school at this point.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Pass oh, I would say a fallacy the umbrella phallasy.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Logical fallacies you got to get one of these sun
- 23:35Speaker 3: the sun umbrella. I don't even know what they're called.
- 23:37Speaker 3: There the text amazing.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Well, I know what parking lot to go to the ARII, Walmart, Target,
- 23:41Speaker 1: Old Suppora.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Parking Lot, best Buy.
- 23:45Speaker 1: They got it all, They've got it.
- 23:46Speaker 3: All, got Wendy's, and then you can go get Backstakhoffs.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Give me a bloomin. Let's get a bloomin after this,
- 23:53Speaker 3: Let's cut the pod now and go get a bloom and.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Well, as much as I'd like to keep talking about
- 24:00Speaker 1: that parking lot, I feel like there's something else we
- 24:02Speaker 1: should I don't want to talk about it. I didn't
- 24:04Speaker 1: even want to bring it up. Yere honest, But you know,
- 24:08Speaker 1: I thought Jacob's wonderful friend of a friend of friends.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I think a lot of people can vouch for this guy.
- 24:14Speaker 1: He'll come on the podcast, we'll have a nice time
- 24:17Speaker 1: and then move on with our days. Maybe split a blueman.
- 24:20Speaker 1: The podcast is called I said no gifts, so I
- 24:23Speaker 1: was a little I was surprised when you showed up
- 24:27Speaker 1: today holding this gorgeous gift in this stunning kind of
- 24:33Speaker 1: magenta pink sparkling bag.
- 24:35Speaker 3: I can't show up. I'm empty handed. It rude friends.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Okay, well if you if we're friends, I'm always looking
- 24:41Speaker 1: for new friends.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't enter a new friend situation empty hand
- 24:45Speaker 3: and it's so rude.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Okay, well that's a perfectly good excuse. Should I open
- 24:49Speaker 1: it here on the podcast?
- 24:50Speaker 3: I would be honored if you opened it. Okay, let's
- 24:52Speaker 3: get in there and just have fun.
- 24:58Speaker 1: The front of this has got a nice there's a
- 25:00Speaker 1: feel to it.
- 25:01Speaker 3: I don't know if you might take some glitter away
- 25:03Speaker 3: with you.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, not yet.
- 25:07Speaker 3: That's almost the same as Mr for that.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Yeah, very nice. Okay, let's reach in here pulling out. Okay,
- 25:15Speaker 1: now we've got a lot of tiss.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Okay, it's in that. Okay, it's in the baggy. I
- 25:20Speaker 3: did sort of a classic small Oh my.
- 25:22Speaker 1: God, this is so small.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Yeah. I did sort of a classic small gift in
- 25:26Speaker 3: a big bag.
- 25:26Speaker 1: It's okay, we've got the tissue. Okay, now we can
- 25:30Speaker 1: get rid of this. Also, there's let's not forget a
- 25:33Speaker 1: paper clip.
- 25:34Speaker 3: That's also part of it.
- 25:34Speaker 1: This is part of the gift.
- 25:35Speaker 3: That's I brought you two tabs of really good acid
- 25:40Speaker 3: and a mushroom.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah, do you grow your own mushrooms.
- 25:47Speaker 3: I don't don't, but I got a nice I got
- 25:49Speaker 3: a nice mushroom guy. Uh, I just go to this
- 25:53Speaker 3: kind of weird warehouse that changes locations throughout the city.
- 25:57Speaker 3: What you get like a he kind of like there's
- 26:00Speaker 3: a guy and he like is like we're on sixteenth
- 26:03Speaker 3: Street today. And you go and there's a warehouse and
- 26:05Speaker 3: they pat you down and there's a bunch of people
- 26:07Speaker 3: selling mushrooms and weed, And.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Does it feel illegal? How illegal is this drug trade?
- 26:15Speaker 1: That's my question because it's so harmless.
- 26:18Speaker 3: I mean, if it was just weed, I would say
- 26:23Speaker 3: that it's gray markets, the term where it's like semi legal,
- 26:27Speaker 3: where I think they're probably growing it legally. They have
- 26:29Speaker 3: the paperwork to grow legally, it's just like the business license, yeah,
- 26:33Speaker 3: Or they're not selling it in a brick and mortar
- 26:35Speaker 3: in a way that you normally would, or they're not
- 26:37Speaker 3: following regulations of like packaging and testing.
- 26:39Speaker 1: And stuff like that, just like selling milk.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's like selling raw milk, raw milk. But
- 26:47Speaker 3: as soon as you put like the mushrooms and stuff
- 26:50Speaker 3: into the equation, I do think it becomes black market,
- 26:53Speaker 3: significantly more black market wild Yeah.
- 26:56Speaker 1: How did you find out about this particular business.
- 27:00Speaker 3: So it's an interesting little set of situation. Like I
- 27:06Speaker 3: stopped buying weed from clinics, okay, because it's like bad.
- 27:11Speaker 1: I think it's bad in one way. If you feel
- 27:14Speaker 1: like it's bad weed.
- 27:14Speaker 3: I think it's bad weed. I think it's like too expensive.
- 27:17Speaker 3: I think it's like overtaxed. It's like not really thinking
- 27:21Speaker 3: about like the growers. It's turning into this like big
- 27:24Speaker 3: sort of like it's just another capitalistic Marborough sort of
- 27:28Speaker 3: total space and all the weeds kind of old and
- 27:31Speaker 3: it all has to get sent off and it has
- 27:32Speaker 3: to get tested, and you can't smell it, and like
- 27:35Speaker 3: back in the day, you go to a clinic and
- 27:36Speaker 3: you'd like open a jar and be like this seems
- 27:39Speaker 3: nice for.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Me, almost like on the prairie you would go to
- 27:41Speaker 1: the apothecarya.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah yeah. So I ran into some guy
- 27:44Speaker 3: at a punk show who was like he had like
- 27:46Speaker 3: a little set up at the punk show, okay, like
- 27:48Speaker 3: a couple of jars and he's like selling pre rolled
- 27:51Speaker 3: joints and stuff like that. So I like got his
- 27:53Speaker 3: information and he sold me like weed and mushrooms for
- 27:58Speaker 3: for like a year, and then ominously he came over
- 28:01Speaker 3: one day and he was like, Hey, I just want
- 28:03Speaker 3: to let you know, like I'm getting out of the game,
- 28:05Speaker 3: Like I'm not going to be selling drugs anymore. Like
- 28:09Speaker 3: I'm going to go back to being an air conditioner tech.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I think it's a better move for me. And I
- 28:17Speaker 3: was like, okay, yeah, like thanks for everything, man, And
- 28:19Speaker 3: like over the year we had like you know, he'd
- 28:22Speaker 3: come to the house and we'd have a chat and
- 28:25Speaker 3: ask him about his life, and we had a nice
- 28:27Speaker 3: little report and I'd see him at a punk store
- 28:28Speaker 3: every now and then. But then he did something really weird.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Not weird, he did something interesting that he left behind,
- 28:37Speaker 3: like a piece of paper that had an Instagram handla,
- 28:44Speaker 3: and he didn't say anything anything, and I like followed
- 28:48Speaker 3: that handle and it was too one of these accounts
- 28:52Speaker 3: that works in this sort of like gray market space.
- 28:56Speaker 3: And so then essentially what he did was like connect
- 29:01Speaker 3: me with his supplier. Right, So he's like, I buy wholesale. Wow,
- 29:06Speaker 3: So I buy a couple of pounds, right, and then
- 29:08Speaker 3: I sell you know, ounces or whatever to you and
- 29:11Speaker 3: your people. So he basically like connected me to the whole.
- 29:17Speaker 1: What's the breaking bad guy's name.
- 29:19Speaker 3: It's not that big. I'm not hanging out too.
- 29:23Speaker 1: He has an underground layer yeah uh yeah.
- 29:26Speaker 3: So and then I've just like gotten to know these
- 29:28Speaker 3: people that it's essentially like a farmer's market, okay, where
- 29:31Speaker 3: it pops up in these different locations and you can
- 29:35Speaker 3: go and smell it like he used to. And there's
- 29:36Speaker 3: a lot of different like independent growers and stuff like that.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Uh.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Their instagram, they got got good grid, good story.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Nothing on the grid.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Nothing on the grid, because if you like post stuff.
- 29:47Speaker 3: About weed, it gets taken down and it's like one
- 29:49Speaker 3: of those things where it's like often the Instagram does
- 29:51Speaker 3: go down and then they have to like start over
- 29:54Speaker 3: with like XX.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Give me a break yea yeah, and so you just
- 29:58Speaker 1: go to random warehouses. When you first followed the instagram,
- 30:01Speaker 1: do you like, how do you approach Oh, I know
- 30:04Speaker 1: this guy.
- 30:05Speaker 3: I just I was yeah, I just was like so
- 30:08Speaker 3: and so uh like the name of the guy or
- 30:13Speaker 3: his like you know, nickname or whatever. It was like connect.
- 30:15Speaker 3: It was like I know, blah blah blah. And they're like, great,
- 30:18Speaker 3: here's the address Tuesday this time. And then just kind
- 30:22Speaker 3: of like you know, you go to a farmer's market.
- 30:25Speaker 3: A couple of times people start to remember you. You
- 30:27Speaker 3: just kind of get.
- 30:28Speaker 1: You're part of the community.
- 30:29Speaker 3: I'm in the system.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and how often are you going?
- 30:33Speaker 3: Oh I like to buy Like I don't like to
- 30:36Speaker 3: go a ton, so I kind of like I'll kind
- 30:38Speaker 3: of buy in bulk by like an ounce or two,
- 30:41Speaker 3: and then you know, maybe go once a month or
- 30:43Speaker 3: whatever and get like my my treats, my medicine, and.
- 30:47Speaker 1: They've got weed, they have mushrooms, they have acid. Yeah,
- 30:50Speaker 1: anything else, No, no, no, because that feels like maybe
- 30:54Speaker 1: but like I'm not you're not going into the other category.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I feel like there's other people if I
- 31:01Speaker 3: had to, there's other people for that. Oh yeah, they're
- 31:03Speaker 3: a little bit more on that.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Like holistic sort of like right, these things are from well.
- 31:08Speaker 3: The acid is like to push Yeah, yeah, how.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Was acid made in a lab?
- 31:16Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know the science.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I've never really thought about LSD where it comes from.
- 31:22Speaker 3: This is from. This is the acid separate from the
- 31:26Speaker 3: gray market. I got it from a different oh, a
- 31:28Speaker 3: different place. I don't even know. I don't I got
- 31:30Speaker 3: it from I don't know. I don't know if I
- 31:32Speaker 3: could say.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Right, is it a person or a place?
- 31:36Speaker 3: It's like that's the thing. I'm not one hundred percent sure.
- 31:39Speaker 3: It's just like there's a a collective called the Sorcerer
- 31:43Speaker 3: that connect with on telegram.
- 31:45Speaker 1: I love the mystique.
- 31:47Speaker 3: It's very Yeah, it's interesting.
- 31:49Speaker 1: America needs to get back to eating at the dinner
- 31:51Speaker 1: table and mistique.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Yeah, a little bit of mystery is fun and like
- 31:55Speaker 3: it's kind of interesting to be like what warehouse am
- 31:57Speaker 3: I gonna go get my wet today? And I go
- 31:59Speaker 3: to different parts of town and I like, I'm like, great,
- 32:02Speaker 3: I'll get to try a taco shop like a little
- 32:04Speaker 3: further away, or like, oh there's an interesting chili cheese
- 32:07Speaker 3: dogs stand next to it or whatever.
- 32:09Speaker 1: And are the people you're dealing with do they feel
- 32:10Speaker 1: like drug dealers or are they just some?
- 32:13Speaker 3: Do some feel like true like cultivators, they feel like,
- 32:16Speaker 3: you know, they're just like I grow great weed. And
- 32:19Speaker 3: then there are people who are like, I'm here to
- 32:22Speaker 3: sell sixty pounds weed right and make my money. And
- 32:26Speaker 3: I'm kind of an intense I have an intense brow.
- 32:32Speaker 1: How often are you doing mushrooms?
- 32:35Speaker 3: Not? I like a microdose? Okay, I like it's it's
- 32:38Speaker 3: Saturday night. We might go somewhere where there's like a
- 32:41Speaker 3: little bit of dancing and to just like eat a
- 32:44Speaker 3: little guy, right, and like I can still have a conversation,
- 32:47Speaker 3: and I like, I am not going to get to
- 32:49Speaker 3: like whoa right, my legs, what are they?
- 32:53Speaker 1: Tears are running down my face? Yeah, yeah yah laughing.
- 32:57Speaker 3: But a big dose I probably like at this point,
- 33:00Speaker 3: I mean, I've done it. Like, once you've done the
- 33:01Speaker 3: big guys, right, you kind of you kind of get it.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Kind of there's like all you know, there's only so
- 33:07Speaker 3: many lessons in life.
- 33:08Speaker 1: There's only so many revelations you can have.
- 33:11Speaker 3: And not saying I'm opposed to getting anymore, but it's
- 33:14Speaker 3: like I've done it. I've done the like big trips,
- 33:17Speaker 3: and I think it's more fun to just like, yeah,
- 33:19Speaker 3: we're like at a cabin, so everybody's gonna eat a
- 33:21Speaker 3: little bit more than a micro We're gonna do macro dose.
- 33:24Speaker 3: I feel a little giggly and like our tummy will
- 33:27Speaker 3: be a little rumbly.
- 33:28Speaker 1: But have you had any bad trips? For sure? What's
- 33:31Speaker 1: the open to talking about? Absolutely you've had.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Top of mind because I was just kind of talking
- 33:39Speaker 3: about this. There was like anytime I've done mushrooms in
- 33:43Speaker 3: like a large, large group, it's always a little more challenging.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Right, the anxiety that I mean, there are more random factors.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Yes, And there's like slightly different doses and like different
- 33:53Speaker 3: needs and like different sort of desires and like comforts,
- 33:58Speaker 3: and everybody's so amp athetic in a way that's like
- 34:01Speaker 3: almost the politeness gets in its own way. Oh, sure,
- 34:04Speaker 3: after you, after you, after you, but then nobody's doing anything.
- 34:08Speaker 3: I remember we were like at a cabin in Big Bear.
- 34:12Speaker 3: It was like a group of my improv buddies, and
- 34:17Speaker 3: it was one of the first trips that I had
- 34:19Speaker 3: taken with this like group of friends. And we all
- 34:24Speaker 3: ate some mushrooms and somebody was talking about that they
- 34:29Speaker 3: had found a recording of what the Earth sounded like
- 34:33Speaker 3: from space. It was like a sonic This could go
- 34:36Speaker 3: in any direction. And we were all seated in front
- 34:41Speaker 3: of this like big window, like looking out at the
- 34:44Speaker 3: view seeing the pines and stuff, and music was playing. Sure,
- 34:49Speaker 3: and they like had just talked about this like earth sound,
- 34:53Speaker 3: and it was playing and it was not what I
- 34:55Speaker 3: expected it to be. It was more melodic. Oh, and
- 34:59Speaker 3: it turns out that it was not what was playing
- 35:01Speaker 3: was not the Earth sound. But I went like, wait,
- 35:05Speaker 3: so this is Earth. I was like, wait, so this
- 35:10Speaker 3: is Earth, and like I became misunderstood in that moment,
- 35:17Speaker 3: and they thought I was like talking about.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Like, oh, what you're looking at in that like I.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Think there was like a perception that I was like
- 35:24Speaker 3: a little further along than everybody. And then they were like, yeah, man,
- 35:29Speaker 3: this like and everybody was like laughing, like yeah it's Earth, man, haha.
- 35:32Speaker 3: And I was like trying to communicate, like, no, not
- 35:36Speaker 3: what we're looking at, Like somebody was talking about playing
- 35:40Speaker 3: this music that was the same, and I like couldn't
- 35:43Speaker 3: articulate what was going on. And it was like everybody
- 35:48Speaker 3: was just like laughing and they're having a good charm
- 35:51Speaker 3: and we're comedians, we want to make people laugh. But
- 35:54Speaker 3: it was making me feel a little nuts, of course,
- 35:57Speaker 3: and I couldn't like communicate.
- 36:00Speaker 1: You're mildly confused, and now you can't communicate or express
- 36:03Speaker 1: yourself in the correct way.
- 36:05Speaker 3: And everybody's been like and their faces are like and
- 36:13Speaker 3: so I like kind of played it. I just like
- 36:16Speaker 3: muted myself and I like got really inside myself. And
- 36:21Speaker 3: was like, it's fine, you were just misunderstood and that's fine.
- 36:24Speaker 3: And that kind of turned into like an earworm that
- 36:27Speaker 3: burrowed its way like through my my psyche and I
- 36:31Speaker 3: had to go and I just like like I just
- 36:34Speaker 3: left and I didn't tell anybody, and I like was
- 36:37Speaker 3: gone for like two and a half hours, just like
- 36:39Speaker 3: tripping sack like around this weird kind of like remote
- 36:44Speaker 3: big bear area and I'm just like wandering through these
- 36:48Speaker 3: neighborhoods just being like does anybody get me? And I
- 36:54Speaker 3: remember like finding myself like in a yard with dogs
- 36:58Speaker 3: and being like this is where I need. This is good.
- 37:01Speaker 3: And I'm like in a yard like somebody's property, like
- 37:04Speaker 3: hanging out with their dogs, and I'm like going up
- 37:07Speaker 3: to trees and hugging, and then like I get really
- 37:09Speaker 3: sick and I like have to go puke like in
- 37:13Speaker 3: some like person's like you know, like neighborhood menace, yeah, man,
- 37:17Speaker 3: And the worst of it is like I kind of
- 37:19Speaker 3: came back and like after two hours that like the trip,
- 37:22Speaker 3: the the peaking of the trip had had subsided and
- 37:26Speaker 3: I was feeling a little more regular, right, And I
- 37:28Speaker 3: went back to the house and it was all locked.
- 37:32Speaker 3: The whole house was locked, and it was like quite quiet,
- 37:36Speaker 3: and then I there was like three Zachs at the party,
- 37:42Speaker 3: and I just remember like looking at my phone and
- 37:45Speaker 3: like trying to get to Zach. But it's like all
- 37:51Speaker 3: the way. So I'm going through like everybody I've ever
- 37:55Speaker 3: like ever interacted well, and I'm just thinking about like
- 37:58Speaker 3: everybody that's ever been in my life because I'm looking at.
- 38:02Speaker 1: You everything they thought about where And then.
- 38:05Speaker 3: I can't figure it out and I am overwhelmed and
- 38:08Speaker 3: I can't get to Zee, and I'm just like i
- 38:10Speaker 3: just got to call one Zach. So then I'm like
- 38:13Speaker 3: banging on this door trying to get in, but I
- 38:18Speaker 3: scared every dingy.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Yeah, of course now they're freaking out.
- 38:21Speaker 3: I like me, and this is like the type of
- 38:23Speaker 3: person I am, like, I'm kind of like comfort first,
- 38:26Speaker 3: total people pleaser, Like to send alarm to a group
- 38:30Speaker 3: of people is like maybe the darkest place I could
- 38:34Speaker 3: accidentally find myself. And I har es so much and
- 38:39Speaker 3: I'm just like, God, I'm here, and then you know.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Everybody's like like who is out?
- 38:46Speaker 3: Yes, yes, And it was this like total push and
- 38:50Speaker 3: pull of like and then finally somebody was like, Oh,
- 38:54Speaker 3: it's you. Where have you been? And I just was
- 38:56Speaker 3: like I kind of freaked out and I'm I'm here now.
- 38:58Speaker 3: And I think they were like all playing like ID
- 39:00Speaker 3: and seek or something, so like they were like in
- 39:03Speaker 3: the dark hiding, and then it was like.
- 39:08Speaker 1: How did someone not die? During?
- 39:10Speaker 3: Three people passed away? And that was one of the
- 39:15Speaker 3: tough ones because it was like, I think I've had
- 39:17Speaker 3: worse trips, but I'm on my own right, And I
- 39:20Speaker 3: think it was that like interfacing of like newer friends
- 39:23Speaker 3: and more intimate settings and kind of upsetting them where
- 39:25Speaker 3: I was like I carried it a lot. And what's
- 39:28Speaker 3: funny is I feel like if you asked anybody there,
- 39:30Speaker 3: their version of the story was like I said a
- 39:32Speaker 3: funny joke and then I like knocked a little too
- 39:34Speaker 3: hard on the door.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Later little did they know.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I was just like.
- 39:40Speaker 1: This was like a chemical reaction. This is like what's
- 39:42Speaker 1: going on side and Adam, I can't go further.
- 39:45Speaker 3: I wasn't great.
- 39:48Speaker 1: They're all bouncing against each other and freaking each other out.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Wow, the domino effect of that is pretty wide.
- 39:54Speaker 3: It was a wild time and it like you know,
- 39:57Speaker 3: it evened out right bounced itself out. I aimed into
- 40:00Speaker 3: the house and everything was fine.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Was it one of those ones where it's like, I'm
- 40:03Speaker 1: going to take a little time off of mushrooms And
- 40:06Speaker 1: I was like, well, everyone has a bad experience.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I was probably like, cool, I'm not
- 40:12Speaker 3: going to probably do that for six months two years?
- 40:14Speaker 1: Right, it was enough for the year.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that was good. I was good on that.
- 40:18Speaker 1: At least it wasn't boring.
- 40:19Speaker 3: It was electric.
- 40:23Speaker 1: I don't quite know the difference between mushrooms and acid,
- 40:25Speaker 1: like the experience.
- 40:28Speaker 3: Have you done either, I've done mushrooms cool, So.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Just once that when it was lovely and it was
- 40:32Speaker 1: like one of these things where like I don't know
- 40:34Speaker 1: if I want to have one of these experience.
- 40:36Speaker 3: Sure, did you get like the wavy or was it
- 40:38Speaker 3: just like everything?
- 40:39Speaker 1: But I will say it was like in twenty fourteen
- 40:42Speaker 1: when all of the Bill Cosby allegations were starting to
- 40:45Speaker 1: come out and ride as it started.
- 40:48Speaker 3: You're so sad, that is your boy crying?
- 40:52Speaker 1: Why calling my senator?
- 40:56Speaker 3: No?
- 40:56Speaker 1: I rides it started to hit. We were in a
- 40:59Speaker 1: cabin and they have like books, you know, and I
- 41:01Speaker 1: was wandering around the cabin and truly as a hit.
- 41:04Speaker 1: I found Bill Cosby's book this giant picture of his face,
- 41:06Speaker 1: and it was one of the weirdest experiences looking at
- 41:08Speaker 1: Bill Cosby being deeply, deeply tripping on mushrooms. Something I'll
- 41:15Speaker 1: never forget. Yeah, his face burned into my brain forever.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Hello.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Yeah, so that could have really gone in a bad direction.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, for sure, But it sounds it sounds
- 41:25Speaker 3: kind of funny.
- 41:26Speaker 1: It was kind of fun I think that they fund
- 41:29Speaker 1: but yeah, that's all I've ever done. And it was wonderful,
- 41:31Speaker 1: and it was wavy and very visual. I was say,
- 41:36Speaker 1: I ate some pineapple and it felt like I was
- 41:38Speaker 1: eating gold bars, that kind of thing.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Yeah, what's the best way to kind of equate it.
- 41:44Speaker 3: I'm going to attempt a new analogy. I feel like
- 41:47Speaker 3: mushrooms is a bicycle and acid is an e bike.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Oh interesting, So one's bad.
- 41:53Speaker 3: One's much I think, much more intense. Or it's like
- 41:57Speaker 3: it's a very similar experience, Like it's a psychdelic It
- 42:00Speaker 3: allows you to kind of like look at something and
- 42:04Speaker 3: it can kind of change shape. And I think they're
- 42:06Speaker 3: both similar, but it's like acids twice the length. Okay,
- 42:11Speaker 3: I think it can get like far more intense visually,
- 42:14Speaker 3: far far more intense visually, and it's like technically a
- 42:18Speaker 3: little bit more of like an upper and it can
- 42:20Speaker 3: really like I think your noggin is like really turned
- 42:25Speaker 3: on and you're thinking very fast in your range, just
- 42:28Speaker 3: like unless you're kind of scared, I think, because like
- 42:34Speaker 3: you can push it out and then you're like, oh, whoa,
- 42:37Speaker 3: the clouds are turning into faces of men, right, and
- 42:39Speaker 3: then that's really fun and nice, right, yeah.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Yeah, Whereas mushrooms it's a little more laid back, a
- 42:44Speaker 1: little bit more uh.
- 42:46Speaker 3: I think it's just not as like computeristic or like
- 42:51Speaker 3: it's like less tron more fern gully. Like there's just
- 42:55Speaker 3: like an organicness and like a violin isn't the right word,
- 43:00Speaker 3: but it is also the right word, you know, because
- 43:03Speaker 3: there's a lot of people who like the acids easier
- 43:05Speaker 3: for them because there's no tummy like it necessarily as emotional.
- 43:09Speaker 3: I think it's a little more cerebral, okay, and like
- 43:13Speaker 3: technical in a way where you're like.
- 43:15Speaker 1: It's a dude to your taxes, for example, this is
- 43:17Speaker 1: the drug you would want to be.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you're having like profound thoughts but I
- 43:22Speaker 3: don't think there. It's more like the world and like
- 43:24Speaker 3: the systems and like patterns and like well the leaf
- 43:28Speaker 3: and like you're it's not like I'm good, right, I'm
- 43:32Speaker 3: thankful for myself. I don't think it's as emotional.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Interesting. Yeah, very interesting, And do remember the first time
- 43:39Speaker 1: you did either?
- 43:41Speaker 3: For sure? First time I tried acid was with like
- 43:43Speaker 3: a really great friend Roger of mine, and we were
- 43:45Speaker 3: at a like the maybe one of the most grimy
- 43:48Speaker 3: parties in like Chino, California that I could ever go to.
- 43:50Speaker 3: It's just like such a fucking just one of those
- 43:54Speaker 3: like sticky. It's like the house becomes sticky. Oh and
- 43:58Speaker 3: we we took acid and it was bunk and we
- 44:01Speaker 3: just kind of like waited for it us to get high,
- 44:04Speaker 3: and it never really quite quite worked, you know.
- 44:08Speaker 1: So they're just like what why did people do this?
- 44:10Speaker 3: Why are we? Yeah, and then I didn't try it
- 44:11Speaker 3: for years because I was like, oh, it's kind of
- 44:13Speaker 3: an omen like maybe I'm not supposed to do this mark.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:17Speaker 3: First time I did mushrooms was at a music festival
- 44:21Speaker 3: in eastern Washington called Sasquatch Okay, And it was like
- 44:26Speaker 3: I was in my I was like twenty three, and
- 44:29Speaker 3: me and my guys fucking road tripped up and camped
- 44:33Speaker 3: in like a cow field and saw all these bands
- 44:36Speaker 3: over three days, and the first night it was really
- 44:39Speaker 3: cool and we were just like enjoyed a full day
- 44:43Speaker 3: of this festival. First time I'd ever been to a
- 44:45Speaker 3: music festival. And We're walking back to camp and I
- 44:50Speaker 3: was like kind of walking alone, and there was just
- 44:52Speaker 3: a dude walking the opposite way, so he was like
- 44:54Speaker 3: kind of headed back towards the venue, sure, and he
- 44:57Speaker 3: just was like, mushrooms twenty five bucks, mushrooms twenty five bucks.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Very peanuts, hot peanuts, five.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Hot peanut, hot peanut, And uh I had twenty five bucks.
- 45:11Speaker 3: It's like literally the master that I.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Had, who ever has twenty five dollars, come, I must
- 45:17Speaker 1: have broken that other twenty for fifteen dollars chicken tender
- 45:19Speaker 1: or something like that.
- 45:22Speaker 3: And uh I just it was kind of a no
- 45:25Speaker 3: thought situation where I was like, this guy's got them.
- 45:28Speaker 3: I'm like at this sort of like a place where.
- 45:31Speaker 1: You do that makes perfect sense.
- 45:32Speaker 3: And me and a buddy split the bag. We split
- 45:35Speaker 3: in eighth the mushrooms and just like completely tripped sack
- 45:38Speaker 3: and we're just It was one of those where I'm
- 45:39Speaker 3: just like laid back, staring at the sky, seeing like
- 45:45Speaker 3: the grid and like seeing it open and being like,
- 45:49Speaker 3: there's so much more and I remember, this is very
- 45:52Speaker 3: silly and who knows, but I remember seeing like people
- 45:57Speaker 3: like angels or like humanoid so you could write the
- 46:01Speaker 3: book maybe maybe.
- 46:03Speaker 1: You shouldn't have to die. You were seeing people at angels.
- 46:07Speaker 3: But they were like seeing me, being like, you're not
- 46:09Speaker 3: supposed to see us.
- 46:10Speaker 1: It was Nancy Reagan's ghost. You aren't supposed to be
- 46:13Speaker 1: on drugs right now here?
- 46:14Speaker 3: What are you doing? And that was really funny that
- 46:17Speaker 3: all these like people were like beyond the veil being
- 46:20Speaker 3: like whoa, hey man, how are you seeing this man?
- 46:24Speaker 3: And it was just so fun. Wow, it was so
- 46:27Speaker 3: fun And it was just like one of those like
- 46:30Speaker 3: I'm perfectly young and like, I mean, I'm just experiencing
- 46:33Speaker 3: why right, And it was really really cool and transformative.
- 46:36Speaker 3: And I always thought mushrooms were gonna be like then
- 46:39Speaker 3: I have to fucking get dreads and like then all
- 46:43Speaker 3: I talk about is how everybody needs to like transform
- 46:48Speaker 3: And it was not that at all, Just like I
- 46:51Speaker 3: did it. It was great.
- 46:52Speaker 1: It was like a little ride you get to go
- 46:53Speaker 1: on and then you get to continue being yourself.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I said, you know. I was like, you guys
- 46:57Speaker 3: should try mushrooms. It was pretty fun, but I wasn't
- 46:59Speaker 3: like proselytizing personality. Yeah, that would make fear of mine.
- 47:04Speaker 3: I think that was why it was very apprehensive. For
- 47:05Speaker 3: a long time. A lot of people high school early
- 47:09Speaker 3: college were experimenting with that stuff, and I was like
- 47:11Speaker 3: that kind of like I don't want to be full hippie.
- 47:15Speaker 1: Right that. I feel like that should be more of
- 47:17Speaker 1: anti drug programs, just like you don't want to be annoying.
- 47:20Speaker 3: You don't want to be like a fucking hippie, right, Yeah, No.
- 47:23Speaker 1: One wants to be annoying. I think that would probably
- 47:26Speaker 1: be more effective than being like, well, you're gonna have
- 47:28Speaker 1: the best time of your life, yeah, and then you'll
- 47:30Speaker 1: want to keep doing well. Okay, people aren't.
- 47:33Speaker 3: Going to think you're chill. That would immediately make me
- 47:36Speaker 3: be like I want to do never. I won't to
- 47:38Speaker 3: be chill.
- 47:41Speaker 1: Did you see any music while you were tripping?
- 47:43Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, did you see oh man? I remember
- 47:49Speaker 3: seeing Bonie Verka, which was very like kind of boring
- 47:53Speaker 3: to me.
- 47:53Speaker 1: I'm glad to hear this. I'm not you're not a fan.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it was kind of boring. And then what was
- 47:59Speaker 3: really awesome was my friends loved bony Ver and I
- 48:03Speaker 3: was like this kind of sucks. I'm gonna go, and
- 48:05Speaker 3: they're like, you can't leave, and I just was like,
- 48:07Speaker 3: meet me here, well, meet here at the end of
- 48:10Speaker 3: the night, and I went and saw the lead singer
- 48:13Speaker 3: of LCD sound System did a DJ set, but he
- 48:18Speaker 3: brought a live black choir whoa, and so it was
- 48:21Speaker 3: like this he was playing like gospel music, like E
- 48:25Speaker 3: EDM gospel music, and it was fucking awesome. And it
- 48:29Speaker 3: was in a tent and it was like just like
- 48:32Speaker 3: dancing and it was like so much more fun than
- 48:35Speaker 3: bony Bear, where everybody was just like on their blankets.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and this was just like but it was
- 48:41Speaker 3: also like had that sound liveliness, yes, yes, and like
- 48:46Speaker 3: that sort of like you know, they're like commanding energy
- 48:50Speaker 3: and they're like harnessing energy in a way that was
- 48:52Speaker 3: like so fun.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Were they in like choir robes.
- 48:55Speaker 3: It was like they're on a coral riser and he
- 48:57Speaker 3: was like doing his like spinning, doing the dj shit
- 49:00Speaker 3: and then they would like sing the hooks and stuff
- 49:02Speaker 3: like that. It was so cool cool.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Wow, yeah, why is he still not doing that?
- 49:07Speaker 3: I don't know. And it was like one of those
- 49:08Speaker 3: things where it's like I didn't really know who LCD
- 49:11Speaker 3: sound System was at that point in time. It was
- 49:14Speaker 3: just like I don't want to missay his name, James Murphy. Yeah,
- 49:17Speaker 3: it was just like build as like James Murphy DJ set.
- 49:21Speaker 3: I was like, who's this, who's.
- 49:23Speaker 1: The Mormon Tabernacle quay? Yeah, Wow, that sounds delightful.
- 49:33Speaker 3: It was really special. Yeah.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Do you go to a lot of music festivals?
- 49:36Speaker 3: Not anymore? Not anymore. I went we like went to
- 49:39Speaker 3: that one, kind of got hooked, and then we went
- 49:41Speaker 3: for like several years, you know, three or four years,
- 49:45Speaker 3: and then it closed. It was like no longer.
- 49:49Speaker 1: What was this one called again?
- 49:51Speaker 3: Sasquat Sasquatch?
- 49:52Speaker 1: Yeah, right, Like for.
- 49:53Speaker 3: Whatever reason, they're like, we're not doing it anymore. And
- 49:55Speaker 3: then I kind of stopped and I never went to Coachella.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Coachella sounds too dusty.
- 49:59Speaker 3: Too dusty. There was a little one. It still kind
- 50:02Speaker 3: of exists in La. I think it was like fyf
- 50:04Speaker 3: yess and that would be cool. It'd be like down
- 50:06Speaker 3: at USC like kind of like near the coliseum.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Right within driving distance.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that was really fun. Like stuff like that I
- 50:13Speaker 3: think is great. But I think as as like the
- 50:18Speaker 3: older I get, it's like, do I want to stand
- 50:20Speaker 3: around for nine hours? Right? See? Like probably like two
- 50:24Speaker 3: good acts in a span of ten.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Acts or whatever, just under the beating sum.
- 50:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm more like I go to gigs a lot.
- 50:32Speaker 3: I still love going to punk music and going to
- 50:35Speaker 3: underground shows and stuff like. That's what I like. Where
- 50:37Speaker 3: I'm like two hours, three hours.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Even that's almost too much. Yeah, when I go see
- 50:42Speaker 1: a favorite band, I'm like, by the encore, I'm essentially
- 50:45Speaker 1: like holding the keys in my pocket.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Are you going to the opener?
- 50:50Speaker 1: If I like them, if I've heard of them, or
- 50:52Speaker 1: if I really like the band and trust their taste.
- 50:55Speaker 3: Yeah, see, that's what I like too. It's like maybe
- 50:57Speaker 3: they're going to put me on and I'll have a
- 50:59Speaker 3: new friend, yes experience.
- 51:01Speaker 1: If it's a band that I'm like just you know,
- 51:04Speaker 1: seventy percent liking, we'll be like, well, I don't need
- 51:07Speaker 1: to waste my time with whatever crap band they've gotten
- 51:11Speaker 1: in front of me, what was least concert you saw.
- 51:13Speaker 3: I went and saw this really cool punk band, hardcore
- 51:18Speaker 3: punk band out of Olympia, Washington called Electric Chair. Oh,
- 51:23Speaker 3: and they're just like the lead singers just like one
- 51:27Speaker 3: of these guys who's just like got so much energy
- 51:30Speaker 3: and he's just such a showman. And the band's really
- 51:33Speaker 3: good and tight, and they like they're clearly rehearsed and
- 51:36Speaker 3: tour all the time, right, and he's just like jumping
- 51:39Speaker 3: around and doing somersaults and like slamming his body around
- 51:43Speaker 3: and it's like really a great perforce.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Yeah, where did this take place?
- 51:48Speaker 3: It's at this place called Five Star Bar in Downtown LA.
- 51:51Speaker 3: That was a pretty iconic punk place in downtown LA
- 51:56Speaker 3: for a while that closed. And then my buddy Dice,
- 52:01Speaker 3: who's like a really big part of like kind of
- 52:04Speaker 3: the DIY punk community in East LA in Los Angeles,
- 52:08Speaker 3: he's running like a lot of really cool underground venues,
- 52:12Speaker 3: gray Market venues, and he and his buddies were like,
- 52:15Speaker 3: we're gonna re open up Five Star Bar to kind
- 52:19Speaker 3: of have like a place for this community to exist.
- 52:22Speaker 3: And he's kind of like it's been a kind of
- 52:24Speaker 3: his own undertaking and he's like revived it in a
- 52:27Speaker 3: really cool, fun way. And it's cool to see like
- 52:29Speaker 3: the city have like a more you know above ground
- 52:34Speaker 3: rue to exist.
- 52:36Speaker 1: And the basement or whatever.
- 52:38Speaker 3: Yeah, like you know a hole in the wall and
- 52:41Speaker 3: skin row right, you know, which is fun and that's sure,
- 52:45Speaker 3: you know, that's where you should go see a bunch
- 52:46Speaker 3: of but it's also nice to just be like I
- 52:49Speaker 3: can get a beer and like there's parking.
- 52:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like the closest I've ever come to that,
- 52:54Speaker 1: And I feel like this is like the top is
- 52:56Speaker 1: the smell the smell?
- 52:57Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so it's right next to the smelling literally
- 53:00Speaker 3: like kidty Cat corner to the smell. It's like five
- 53:03Speaker 3: star bars here, there's a parking lot the alleyway. They're
- 53:06Speaker 3: like right there. The smells awesome. That's an LA institution.
- 53:10Speaker 3: Those guys are so great. They like have held it
- 53:12Speaker 3: down for so many years. So many great bands come
- 53:15Speaker 3: out of.
- 53:15Speaker 1: The Oh yeah, it's really been there in years, but
- 53:18Speaker 1: I'm glad it's still open.
- 53:19Speaker 3: It's one of those places that like is always going
- 53:21Speaker 3: to be the same. There's always going to be like
- 53:24Speaker 3: young kids drinking beer and nicely.
- 53:27Speaker 1: That's just kind of a thing. That it's part of nature. Yes, yeah,
- 53:31Speaker 1: you can't get.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Rid of it. It's just a cycle. Yeah.
- 53:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it gives you a little bit of hope.
- 53:35Speaker 3: What was the last show that you saw?
- 53:37Speaker 1: Mm? Oh, I wish I had a memory.
- 53:41Speaker 3: I wish I had him.
- 53:42Speaker 1: I saw a Destroyer, which is not punk.
- 53:45Speaker 3: It's I feel like I've seen it on Spotify.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's this guy, Dan Bahar and a band that
- 53:54Speaker 1: are kind of I would say, I'm not super easy
- 53:58Speaker 1: to describe because every one of his albums is kind
- 54:00Speaker 1: of its own thing. Cool but a little I don't
- 54:04Speaker 1: know it even in the realm of like who I
- 54:07Speaker 1: would compare it to historically with music maybe in the
- 54:10Speaker 1: same like a little bit Brian Eno or glammy slightly
- 54:16Speaker 1: but indie rock to cool, a little New ordery sometimes.
- 54:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm like, how this is shaping fantastic? I'm in
- 54:25Speaker 3: Oh my god, I'm on. Have you ever heard you've
- 54:27Speaker 3: ever listened to music at airports?
- 54:29Speaker 1: Of course? I used to listen to it when I
- 54:30Speaker 1: would do my laundry in New York, sit at the laundromat.
- 54:33Speaker 3: Just it's so good. I have it on vinyl. It's
- 54:35Speaker 3: like one of my favorite things to play it beautiful.
- 54:39Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, and his four like I guess rock or
- 54:43Speaker 1: pop albums whatever you would call me Murray singing four
- 54:45Speaker 1: of my favorite albums of all time.
- 54:47Speaker 3: Sure, he's so good, so amazing.
- 54:49Speaker 1: He's gone on to produce some real I mean produce
- 54:51Speaker 1: bands that I'm not super into.
- 54:53Speaker 3: That happens, so you've got to make a buck.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Bill.
- 54:57Speaker 1: He's one of our great I have what's it called
- 55:00Speaker 1: oblique strategies. They made an app of it.
- 55:02Speaker 3: Do you know what?
- 55:02Speaker 1: Are you familiar with this? He created this like card
- 55:05Speaker 1: thing in the seventies with we should I'm gonna try
- 55:08Speaker 1: it right now. But it has like basically these different
- 55:12Speaker 1: directives and you would pull a card from the deck,
- 55:14Speaker 1: like I think when they would be at a standstill
- 55:18Speaker 1: in the studio or whatever, they would draw card and
- 55:20Speaker 1: then like creatively, they would follow that directive.
- 55:24Speaker 3: Okay, so let's.
- 55:24Speaker 1: See, and I don't think Brian Needo created this app Well,
- 55:28Speaker 1: this one says take a break. That's not very interesting.
- 55:30Speaker 3: Come on, let's see. Let's I've been working hard enough.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Okay, now this is yeah exactly. This one says allow
- 55:36Speaker 1: an easement, allow and then in parentheses and easement is
- 55:40Speaker 1: the abandonment of a stricture. So I mean you just
- 55:44Speaker 1: do what you do, whatever you want with that.
- 55:47Speaker 3: And so it was designed to inspire music choice.
- 55:52Speaker 1: I think initially jam.
- 55:54Speaker 3: And what this jam is inspired by the idea of
- 55:57Speaker 3: adding an easement.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Right, and whatever that means to So I think it's
- 56:00Speaker 1: just like, yeah, brain spark something. But I'll look at
- 56:06Speaker 1: that occasionally and it does almost nothing for me.
- 56:08Speaker 3: Sure it does, true, but you might need a drum
- 56:11Speaker 3: kit ye or something.
- 56:13Speaker 1: But I think it's for creatives, maybe something you can
- 56:16Speaker 1: at least distract yourself with for a minute. But Brian,
- 56:18Speaker 1: you know, oh my god, I just adore that's so cool.
- 56:21Speaker 1: Well I think I mean, before I bore everyone everyone
- 56:23Speaker 1: to death with Brian Eno, I think we should play
- 56:25Speaker 1: a game.
- 56:26Speaker 3: Let's play a game.
- 56:27Speaker 1: We're going to play a game called Gift Master. But first,
- 56:29Speaker 1: any to number between one and ten from you?
- 56:31Speaker 3: Do? I tell you it?
- 56:32Speaker 2: Yes?
- 56:32Speaker 1: Yes, seven, Okay, I have to do some like calculating
- 56:35Speaker 1: to get our game pieces. Right now, you can promote, recommend,
- 56:38Speaker 1: do whatever you want.
- 56:39Speaker 3: Cool, you're right back. Yeah, Hi, guys, I'm just going
- 56:43Speaker 3: to promote good health and wellness. Drink your water, take
- 56:47Speaker 3: a deep breath with me, in through the nose and
- 56:52Speaker 3: out through the mouth. Let's do one those huh guys
- 56:54Speaker 3: for health and wellness out through the mouth. Now, think
- 57:00Speaker 3: about something you want to accomplish today, this week, or
- 57:02Speaker 3: maybe this year. Visualize it. I'm visualizing it with you.
- 57:07Speaker 3: Send it to me and I'll send you mine sending
- 57:11Speaker 3: it to you. Wow. Think about how real that is
- 57:15Speaker 3: and I hope that happens for you.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Wow. What an excellent use of that time. Anyone listening
- 57:20Speaker 1: to the podcast is now driven off the road. If
- 57:24Speaker 1: they hadn't already.
- 57:26Speaker 3: Might need to like drop back. A warning, a coziness warning.
- 57:32Speaker 1: Please be fully awake and alert. Okay, this is how
- 57:37Speaker 1: we play gift master. I'm going to name three things,
- 57:39Speaker 1: three gifts that you can give away, items, experiences, whatever.
- 57:42Speaker 1: I'm going to name three celebrities and you can tell
- 57:44Speaker 1: me which celebrity you would give which gift. Oh fun,
- 57:47Speaker 1: Does that make perfect sense?
- 57:48Speaker 3: That makes perfect sense?
- 57:49Speaker 1: All right? The gifts you'll be giving today are number one,
- 57:51Speaker 1: a good look in the mirror, Number two a short
- 57:54Speaker 1: lived but beloved dramedy. That's a nice gift, and number
- 57:57Speaker 1: three an in home urinal. Got it, I've somebody's in
- 58:02Speaker 1: home urinal before and I prefer to flex. It's a flex,
- 58:06Speaker 1: but it's in what direction?
- 58:07Speaker 3: Hey? Can I just say, and this is going to
- 58:09Speaker 3: be polarizing, just pissing your sink?
- 58:11Speaker 1: Just what's it for?
- 58:14Speaker 3: Same thing? It's the same thing.
- 58:16Speaker 1: It's got a drain. If it's got a drain, you
- 58:20Speaker 1: can rhyme let it rain.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go.
- 58:26Speaker 1: The celebrities are number one Malia Obama, okay, up and
- 58:30Speaker 1: coming entertainment something. I think she was a writer or something.
- 58:34Speaker 1: Stephen King great and number three Barbara Corcoran. Do you
- 58:37Speaker 1: know who that is?
- 58:38Speaker 3: I don't think I know.
- 58:39Speaker 1: Barbie kind of bob wa Yeah, there you go. She's
- 58:44Speaker 1: an entrepreneur, she's a real estate mogul. Yeah, and she's
- 58:47Speaker 1: got a heart of gold at least on the show.
- 58:51Speaker 3: Okay, so we've got the pisser, we've got a good
- 58:58Speaker 3: look in the mirror.
- 58:59Speaker 1: Remind me of short lived but beloved dramedy.
- 59:02Speaker 3: Sure lived but beloved dramedy. I think we'll give Bob.
- 59:06Speaker 3: I think Baba gets a good look in the mirror. Okay,
- 59:10Speaker 3: because what are you doing? What is this show? What
- 59:12Speaker 3: is your life? Do you really need it? You got
- 59:15Speaker 3: enough cash.
- 59:16Speaker 1: You've been doing Shark Tank for how many years?
- 59:18Speaker 3: Seventy?
- 59:20Speaker 1: Yeah, at least years. She's about one hundred and thirty
- 59:23Speaker 1: years old.
- 59:25Speaker 3: A cackling at this point. It's it's dark magic keeping
- 59:27Speaker 3: her afloat. Get a hobby, baba, come on, start fucking
- 59:32Speaker 3: start taking up photography. Get a dark room. You can
- 59:34Speaker 3: afford it.
- 59:35Speaker 1: I'm sure you have the eye for it.
- 59:38Speaker 3: Yeah. I think I'd give her a long look in
- 59:40Speaker 3: the mirror, and she probably love it. I think there's
- 59:41Speaker 3: something going on here that she'd be like, look at that,
- 59:44Speaker 3: Look how good it all is.
- 59:45Speaker 1: She's had some very good work done. Appreciate the work
- 59:48Speaker 1: you've had done.
- 59:50Speaker 3: I think Stephen can get the drama edy. I think
- 59:53Speaker 3: he'd appreciate the story.
- 59:57Speaker 1: He's not getting a lot of dramedis on TV. He's
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: not known for his soft comedy.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: Yeah, he's not going subtle. Yeah.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I wonder what the closest thing he has to a dramedy.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: He just I imagine him. It's Yeah, there's a little
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: bit of or with thinner is like kind of cheeky,
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: a little bit desperation, which is like Roy Buchanan, which
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: is I think is a pseudonym.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Oh he has other another person writing books as well.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sure a factory at this point.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I mean, I'm saying like I think I believe he's
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: writing them, but he can't stop that he had to
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: create a pole.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: I think I could be so wrong, and that's totally fine,
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: and I don't care that's true. But yeah, the desperation
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: is like funny. Oh, there's there's like dark humor.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: The cop character is like very like he's like a
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: cheeky bastard. But I also just kind of love the
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: idea of like Stephen King watching like the first season
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: of Skins.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Stephen King's Freaks and gigs. Yeah, I think that's nice. Yeah,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: kind of a late career turn for him.
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean why not try and get it,
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: try and get into a different cash revenue. Right, I'm
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: sure he's got it. Right. If you can be bad that,
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: I think you could also be good. You're just kind
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: of put in the mirror the other one, right, just
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: a mirror. And then Malia gets whatever the last one is.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: She gets the in home urinal.
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's just sort of like, uh.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: She's probably already got everything she could possibly ask for. God.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: Yeah. I think maybe it'll give her something to like.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: They can roast her about it and that'll humber horror.
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: And that's probably right to be a president's daughter who
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: she does blast SIGs, which is I think is oh interesting.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: Gen Z. Yeah, I think that's pretty cool daddy's daughter.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: I think he's shopped.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: He did, but he was, he was blasting SIGs.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: Yeah, you love you know, you're the president of the
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: United States.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: Have a focus, cigaret brother, Come on.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: The way, this podcast has become pro smoking is so.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: We're gonna from him in the pocket of big Nickeds.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: I want you to know.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: The Surgeon General is coming for us. Yeah.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: I got drove here in a Winston Company car, in.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: A giant cigarette shake car like themobile.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: It's pretty cool that you can light it.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: The exhaust comes out in the back.
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: Yeah, and you get fast.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: Why haven't they done that bad move on their part?
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: You know, I'll call, I'll call. Give you can touch, Yeah,
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: I can get. I can get up the ladder for sure.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: Get them on the phone. Get the cigarette machine going. Well,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: you played it perfectly, Thank you, very thoughtful.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: I was nervous. I was going to fucking with it
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: in the game.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: No, you did perfectly. And all these people are going
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: to appreciate their gifts.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Yeah, and they're welcome, I hope.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: So now we need to answer a listener question. People
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: are writing into I said, no gifts at gmail dot com,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: or they're sending voice notes. The voice notes have to
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: be sixty seconds long and in a quiet space. That
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: makes sense, doesn't listener. But today we're going to read one.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: We help me answer a question. Absolutely all right, this
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: is dear Bridger and hopefully tolerable guest. Okay, I mean
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: that's a little.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: Okay, Well, I'm you're sort of already creating a bias
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: and how I'm going to interface with you and sort
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: of the level of kindness and empathy the whole like
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: you can find your whole dream things.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Fucks out out the window, out of the window. This
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: is after returning home from our vacation two days ago,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: my partner and I discovered our apartment has been invaded
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: by fruitflies and ants. We had a new house slash
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: dog sitter, so we're assuming although we are certain they
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: are the cause of this pest issue. Should I get
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: in touch with them to ask about the situation or
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: is it better to leave it alone. I'm worried they
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: might be butt hurt. Butt hurt. Okay, okay, however, they
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: are supposed to sit for us again next month, and
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: I would like to prevent this from happening again. Oh
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: my god, eagerly and anticipating your incredibly uplifting and faultless recommendations. Okay,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: now they're trying to win us over. Have a great day.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: Danny ps high on Elise. I don't know who that's
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: in reference to.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: Fucking grow up.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Grow up is what everyone needs to do.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: This is so lamb fucking grow up.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: You're making good on your promise.
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: I'm pissed you.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: You're upset to begin with.
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: I got a fucking problem. There's ants in my house.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: Grow up, dude, that shit happens house. Yeah, they're fucking
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: with my gig. That's crazy. Why do you have to?
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: I guess my question is why does this issue? That
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: is like fairly common And you probably left town with
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: fucking fruit and no bowl.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Right, You probably left just crumbs all over the count.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: They're probably an old banana in a basket.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Floor needed to be swept.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: Yes, why can't there just be ants in your house?
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: Because nobody was around.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: Why does it have to be the fault of somebody
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: because this person hasn't looked within. Yeah, and they were
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: going in there. That's why they're constantly escaping to vacations.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: They're running away from a champagne problem. It's a champagne problem.
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: A guy watching my ship while I'm having a good time.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: I'm sorry, you had to have a little bit of
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: reality in your life. Man.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: Well, and I feel like the solution here is just
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: live with it. The person comes around. If it is
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: their fault, they'll live with it as well. Ultimately it
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: will pass.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: Yeah, eight billion people. Find another guy.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Yeah, find another guy. Cut this person out of your life.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: Really that hard. There's somebody who's the people need money,
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: there's people look into dogsit.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: And yeah, throw a rock you'll find somebody. Is that
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: the phrase? And also get some of them. Have you
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: ever heard of the magic ant chalk.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: That that don't cross the line.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: It's unbelievable. I think it probably immediately gives you cancer
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: for sure, because I think it's illegal. But you use
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: this stuff, the ants, I've never seen anything like this.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Anything is effective in any category really, but it's hard.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: To find, so it's different than regular chalk.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: It's as far as I know. Okay, it says I
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: think it says like magic ant chalk.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: Well, because I know I've heard of the chalk like
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: I've done the chalk line just.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: And it worked.
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: Yeah, just chalk.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: Interesting. So maybe the magic chalk people are just it's branding.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: I bet you it's just branding. Or it's like a
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: type of chalk that maybe it's like a more like
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: more gets off. Oh you know, I'm pontificating it.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's just too much chalk. And that's why
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: it becomes legal. You can only have so much chalk.
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: It starts getting weird.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: We'll get some regular chalk and put it all over
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: your house.
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. Man, this sky pissed me off
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: pretty quick. This person piss me off pretty quick.

- 1:07:11Speaker 3: they're having a big problem. You have a friend to call.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: They have a friend in me.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: They expected me to be on their side this time,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: and unfortunately they were wrong.
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: Serious apologies, Danny.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: He's not sorry.

- 1:07:45Speaker 1: You can't go back to delightful dinner.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: My hands are too soft. Now, I don't think they'd
