- 0:45Welcome back to the boundary Corner podcast, along with my
- 0:50partner. Brian Sigler, I'm Curtis Wilson
- 0:53Ron. How was your evening?
- 1:03I'm not even mad, but I'm not mad after that game.
- 1:15Had a rigatoni, Rosa, which is rigatoni, Brown, and a pink
- 1:19sauce with mushrooms, spinach chicken, and this will be great
- 1:24to you, homemade sausage on top. That here with my lovely bride.
- 1:31Watched Almost Famous kept an eye on some of the games.
- 1:35I'm not ready, either? In folks, we should be mad.
- 1:40We should hang your url, but in are seven stages of grief, we're
- 1:44past it. Hokies fall 4714 to pit and, you
- 1:51know, me and Brian were texting as the game ended and stuff.
- 1:56And it was just like, you know, he texted he was you know having
- 2:01this and relaxed hit total when I was doing relaxed are older.
- 2:07You're my oldest son Brian's on there at the end lost tonight.
- 2:10So kind of a free night for us because the little one on
- 2:13weekends here goes down about 720 Ryan.
- 2:16Clearly you have the whole house to yourself to just, relax and
- 2:19sort of take it back. Yeah, I'm not.
- 2:25At we're at the point now where good or bad.
- 2:29We kind of expected some of the shit we saw today's.
- 2:32So yeah it didn't really, it didn't hit like that.
- 2:37I mean it just it's more, reaffirming everything that we
- 2:40kind of thought was already going on and was already
- 2:43trending in a certain direction. This this one just kind of put
- 2:47you know the fucking icing on the cake in terms of how bad it
- 2:52was and especially how bad it was.
- 2:54In the second. Half after you played pretty
- 2:58damn bad in the first half but we're within shouting distance
- 3:00of say. Well, if we come out we do our
- 3:03right the second half we can make this thing a game.
- 3:05Yeah. And then you just completely
- 3:07take a dump on the field. Brian.
- 3:09I literally am looking here at my notes and I wrote in the
- 3:13store they can have made a couple things and about third
- 3:17line down I quit from below that is what my wife wanted from the
- 3:24Restaurant. We went to the night.
- 3:26What I wanted. The order number.
- 3:30And then find the movie. So you were like I quit.
- 3:36Fuck it! Take out.
- 3:38What I have. Your red.
- 3:42Yes. You know, 10 beverages in like,
- 3:5690 minutes, which is not safe. But bra not, we're sitting here
- 4:00and we were talking about it before you hit record and we
- 4:04looked Y'all. This is they talked about 80
- 4:09last year. So much after Duke.
- 4:10After dupe, this was essentially part Deux of the Duke game.
- 4:15Yeah, over a year later. And me, and Brian were looking,
- 4:19and it's easy to figure out, and it's sort of, as a cataclysm of
- 4:25where we are as a program. Since Juke last year, we are ten
- 4:29and eight student template, and just a few weeks 10 and 9.
- 4:34If we play like we did today or last week or against the Liberty
- 4:40organ. Sweet.
- 4:40Fucking Forest, 10 and 10. And as we were sitting here,
- 4:45could we go through all the plays?
- 4:47Yeah, a lot of things, we sing for things we've harped on.
- 4:51But what we did tonight is a little different and We look at
- 4:58what was said after the game, by the head coach of the Virginia
- 5:02Tech Hokies, Justin for one that we pulled some specific quotes
- 5:07from him, the kind of show that it he's got to go.
- 5:13He has to go in. Chocolate brown tonight.
- 5:21We're 50 million in the red, right?
- 5:22Because of covid. What 60 million?
- 5:25Hoping, if you're, if you're already having to dig yourself
- 5:30out a whole, another Dino 10 inches and going to really make
- 5:35or break you, he's not, you know, I think what's going to
- 5:40hurt more is not only the recruiting stuff, but if we're
- 5:47Babcock keeps home, There's going to be shot to that Stadium
- 5:53next year where it's 40,000 people.
- 5:56It's going to look pitiful ever from henceforth and really it
- 6:00started before this. But I mean really since Liberty
- 6:04and now it's only compounded. The last two weeks every day, we
- 6:10go without making some sort of move to a new staff is hurting
- 6:15the Virginia Tech brand. He already here with recruits
- 6:19hurting it with donors, hurting it with national perception.
- 6:25And it's something we don't need, it's something we don't
- 6:30need. It's pretty insane to think that
- 6:33Brian since 1977 43 years ago Virginia Tech has had for
- 6:39football, coaches for Jimmy sharp bill, Dooley, Frank,
- 6:46Beamer Jetson for Wednesday it is time for the fifth and in
- 6:50let's start with the first quote, Prime that just You don't
- 6:55you want to talk about like this sort of you want to talk about
- 6:58getting back to the hangar? I think I mean you there someone
- 7:04and I cannot quote the media member that did it?
- 7:06I wish I could because we did not listen to the pressure.
- 7:10We're pulling off quotes from Mike McDaniel.
- 7:13Mike Missoula, Norm would David teal?
- 7:17Mike Barber all those got better and better.
- 7:21First one, Brian, somebody asked for Wednesday.
- 7:24Would he take? Over the play, calling duty,
- 7:27legit question, right? You just scored 14 points, he
- 7:30scored 24 over 4 weeks ago. You scored 16 against Wake
- 7:36Forest. Ready for the ready for the
- 7:40quote Brian? Let's say the loud and then you
- 7:42can just go. No.
- 7:44That's the most ludicrous crap I've ever heard.
- 7:48There's staff. Not get the most out of this
- 7:51offense and not making adjustments fast enough to get
- 7:56the offense comfortable, where they can put up consistent
- 7:58points, even when they're playing from behind.
- 8:02That's what's Ludacris. That's what's frustrating.
- 8:06That's where we've been as a fan base for a while.
- 8:09I mean free for all the good and evil.
- 8:12That happened last year after the Duke game, there were still
- 8:17moments of, like head-scratching.
- 8:19What the fuck with this offense? And it's reared.
- 8:24Its ugly head again this year and it's gotten to a point where
- 8:31loyalty to this man is going to cost went to his job.
- 8:35Yes it is. The, I mean that's that's the
- 8:38long and short of it loyalty to brag or Nelson is going to cost
- 8:4312 his job. If one take is doing a damn fine
- 8:46job of getting himself fired on his own.
- 8:49Yes they are. But I think without this blind
- 8:53loyalty to someone that is hurting you.
- 8:56And ultimately again you're getting him fired by making this
- 9:01bad decision. If you fire him then he's fired.
- 9:06If you don't fire him and you end up losing games, you're
- 9:10getting fired. And you know who else is getting
- 9:12fired with that happens. God fucking buddy, got say it,
- 9:16but who else is hurts? Yeah, Cole Brown earlier those
- 9:21Schembechler. What?
- 9:211985 1986 the team, the team, the team all Justin Fuente party
- 9:26is the team, the team, the team. And I'm not just talking about
- 9:30the players on the field, he's hurting them, he is hurting
- 9:34every single assistant coach on the staff.
- 9:36He is hurting every single trainer on that.
- 9:39He's hurting all the recruiting Personnel, guys.
- 9:41He is hurting the fundraiser, folks.
- 9:43He is hurting, literally the entire Virginia Tech athletic
- 9:46team by. Not letting one individual go
- 9:50by, not essentially saying I love you as a friend.
- 9:54You can't do that. This level, Brad cornelison
- 9:57before. Before he got hired at Memphis.
- 10:02He was in D fucking to He wasn't, he wasn't even had a
- 10:08group of five school. This is, this is not a big time
- 10:11coach that know is having a bad run.
- 10:15This is a coach that has been propped up by Justin Fuente
- 10:19since he became a division 1 head coach fucking truth and man
- 10:24you know there's there's these times in your life where it's
- 10:26like but we did all the film we were super tight enough. 15
- 10:29years ago Dude. Come on, think I have no need
- 10:34for 22. 23 years math, right? Dip during said, hey there been
- 10:41times where we've said to each other.
- 10:43Did you doing some dumb shit? Oh yeah.
- 10:46Yeah, I can think of one in particular that we won't share
- 10:49on this podcast and that was you to me?
- 10:53I'm going to take the L on that one, but you have those
- 10:58conversation? If you, if you truly deeply he's
- 11:01your friend. You literally say I forgot to
- 11:03let you go. Man, I've got to take things
- 11:06away from you. I need you to grow because I
- 11:10said here right now and here's going to be let's let's do this
- 11:14problem real quick. This is unplanned.
- 11:20He's saying this is the most ludicrous crap ever heard, okay.
- 11:24I want to start going through the coaches and I want to start
- 11:27on the defensive side and come through will Ryan Smith.
- 11:30Get another job at a division one P5 or G5 school.
- 11:36If he is let go, I'd say based on the turnover at the position,
- 11:42Ryan Smith has Done better than his pay this year, Ron Smith?
- 11:50Yes, yeah. All right.
- 11:54Let's go next to create Tracy claeys.
- 12:00He's done a very poor job with Virginia Tech, but I think his
- 12:03resume he will get a job somewhere else.
- 12:06All right. What's the offensive line?
- 12:09Let's start with Bill, pee on it.
- 12:14Bill may just get to pick his job.
- 12:17Like there's there's not going to be seeing already the
- 12:23defensive line without the right people look better.
- 12:27It was one of their worst games but still what we're six in the
- 12:30country in sacks and I know that some linebackers and other
- 12:34things, but a lot of that's attributed to the defensive line
- 12:36it's not even a question Darryl Tapp Of course.
- 12:44Darryl Tapp might be retained just because he's Darryl Tapp.
- 12:47Yep. And in let's just look it up in
- 12:49hand with them. There's not a person, you know,
- 12:55most Virginia Tech fans that mean you communicate with or in
- 12:59the same do that us he wasn't ready to do this.
- 13:02He wasn't ready yet. He's trying he's giving it the
- 13:05effort but he needed a few more seasons of standing with either
- 13:10a defensive coordinator, you know what he did to have?
- 13:14He didn't have that. That super but you know like
- 13:17when in your career your life, you think you're ready for
- 13:20something, but most people know you're not quite there any and
- 13:25you get that interview where they give you the interview
- 13:27because they know that you're, you're a fast Riser and they
- 13:32want to kind of see where it is. Usually in those cases though
- 13:37that person doesn't get the job and they end up growing as a
- 13:40result of that because they double down on getting Better.
- 13:45This is the opportunity for J, Hamm to double down on getting
- 13:47better, but he was handed the job.
- 13:50They're getting the gospel double down and getting better
- 13:52but usually wouldn't you get that interview and usually do a
- 13:56good job. You get pulled in with the
- 13:59essentially, the person way up and they give you all the great
- 14:02feedback but they also about not long after you're giving some
- 14:06extra responsibilities so probably have been the year, if
- 14:10bud, or if we had brought in Barry Odom Force.
- 14:14One else where it probably would have been Dreamin.
- 14:17Sorry, you're going to paint. I'm gonna call the play with
- 14:24you're going to desire. If you give it to be drawn up
- 14:27the place you're going to exit node and that's what he's
- 14:31missing because again when you can say from a corporate and for
- 14:36institutional type trouble, that's how it usually works.
- 14:39It makes sense. We were just, hey, here it is.
- 14:43You know, we really wish right now they would go back and I'm
- 14:48going to hold Pride on something.
- 14:49I told you I noticed today But maybe they should hire Tracy.
- 14:53Claeys is a defensive coordinator and let Pam just a
- 14:57safety coach or Cody sees or some bullshit like that.
- 15:01But either way. All right.
- 15:03Let's go to the offensive side of the ball real quick.
- 15:06So, essentially everyone on the defense including Justin
- 15:09Hamilton will probably find a P5 or G5 pretty easily, right,
- 15:15Jiang, Xiao best? Yeah, he's tired.
- 15:20He's some guy real fast. Retain him retained and if we
- 15:24don't hire shame. All right.
- 15:27Let's go next Jafar Williams. I think your father would
- 15:33probably find a G5 job to get a P5 job.
- 15:38Is that right? He couldn't know what he came to
- 15:42us from Maryland, right? Yeah.
- 15:44And he's coached at Rutgers and places like that.
- 15:46So I think he would find somewhere Because again, why our
- 15:52senior prom, it's not like blowing your mind but it's not
- 15:55so bad. It's a I mean he taught them
- 15:58sumbitches to block. Well yes you can get fired for
- 16:03that. These guys can catch what can
- 16:05they do, block, you know, I got called, all right um this is an
- 16:10interesting one because he's so tied to the head coach and
- 16:14liking Berg. Oh man, it's tough.
- 16:18He's done a good job with recruiting, especially giucose
- 16:24and transfers. He's done a pretty good job.
- 16:29Recruiting in general. Yeah, I like what we got out of
- 16:36Herbert, this year. I'm not certain about the or to
- 16:42what degree he was controlling the rotation in terms of.
- 16:46Depth there because I think we were using Blackshear
- 16:50incorrectly. And that and not getting
- 16:54Colston. And some of those other younger
- 16:56guys reps when we needed them to get reps.
- 16:59So, I think that's kind of a toss-up, but I think just based
- 17:02on the type of recruiting, that he can do.
- 17:06And the fact that he's now, Coach tape at a position that
- 17:11has had pretty good success at the power 5 level Heat, at least
- 17:15get a G5 roll, if nothing else. He definitely going to be top
- 17:18roll. I think it's what you talk about
- 17:20the Juco recruiting. That's where a lot of D5 live.
- 17:24Yeah, I think that up. I think you found one in a
- 17:26heartbeat guidance, is a would probably be a guy that can go to
- 17:33an elite dr. King's School in my opinion,
- 17:34can't fight without a doubt, you know, devices at work.
- 17:39Is going to make a lateral move. He's going to be, he's going to
- 17:42be an upper mid tier power 5 job if not an elite level power 5
- 17:47job. I don't even think well I run I
- 17:50think he will go up if they get fired.
- 17:52He is not retain and I don't keep saying retaining because we
- 17:55don't know potential who could be brought in.
- 17:57They could say dude I love your work.
- 17:59I'm going to get you twenty five thousand extra under me.
- 18:02I mean the the biggest thing is that whoever we bring in is
- 18:05going to be who they already have relationships with that,
- 18:08they You can actually get to come here because, you know,
- 18:12unless it's a complete philosophical mismatch.
- 18:16I mean, if you don't have a no line coach in mind, I couldn't,
- 18:22I missed it. What we do will happen.
- 18:24Well, that green to a tight end in a row.
- 18:28A game. Yes, sir, one of mr.
- 18:32Stieglitz trailer. No.
- 19:53Then a lot of that was Jerrod carrying a load there and more
- 20:00seasoned and very veteran. Orientable, went a come into,
- 20:06what were you in FL receivers? Yeah, don't even.
- 20:09I mean, let's not even joke about that is three NFL
- 20:11receivers is one big reason. Why in he's the only one a yeah,
- 20:20no previous P5. Or G5 experience.
- 20:26Who this? Somebody I think someone will
- 20:28probably come on say well what about Vans Vice?
- 20:31Well you want to know because the other guys is kind of
- 20:33documented where they've been and, you know, you kind of take
- 20:37a look at Vance Vice and his career been twice in his career.
- 20:43He was at you LM. He was that Clemson back in the
- 20:47late 1990s. He's been at a few places and
- 20:51his work is showing not only in recruiting but also in the
- 20:54development of guys, especially he's Going to have a left
- 20:57tackle, that's going to be taken in the first round.
- 20:58He can hang his hat on. Yep.
- 21:01So we literally just went through every member of the
- 21:04coaching staff and we're literally saying everyone can
- 21:07get hired by a P5 or G5 School except one.
- 21:12And then people can say well he broke all the records here,
- 21:17don't even get us started on that, please don't.
- 21:20We've been fans for too long and we have seen the Bad and the
- 21:27reason he's breaking records is because for years, it was bad,
- 21:32it was terrible. So yeah, Brian, another quote
- 21:42You going to love this one, buddy.
- 21:46The lack of 3rd and 4th Down success.
- 21:51Ready for the people. Yeah.
- 22:03I'm gonna need you to take some accountability for that one
- 22:05boss. Yeah, I'm gonna need you to take
- 22:08a lot of ownership because that that is that saying that?
- 22:13I mean are you going to make that same statement against
- 22:17Liberty? Because I mean the same shit
- 22:19happened against Liberty against Wake Forest.
- 22:24I mean, if you're making the argument, is that a good enough
- 22:34players to be teams that have mostly two stars?
- 22:40Or you're saying you can't develop these guys.
- 22:45Like me at some point, just say we fucked up.
- 22:49There you go. Don't don't usually ask for it
- 22:51because it's a press conference but say you know, we didn't do a
- 22:56good job of preparing the players before the game and we
- 22:59didn't do a good job of getting them in positions to make plays
- 23:03on key downs. We say, we want the biggest
- 23:07bullshit was the one that absolutely blew the game wide
- 23:14open. Open.
- 23:15Yep. What We've ran that play with
- 23:17for it's been pretty successful over the last four years.
- 23:21Yeah man you sit here and you're like you're at the what it's the
- 23:26one yard line, right. The one You have jhelum.
- 23:30Okay, let's turn 26 pounds. Taylor's a big, sumbitch huge.
- 23:39You've got guys, like, James Mitchell.
- 23:42And I know, Tre turnitin play in the second half.
- 23:44You've got guys like mother you stupid motherfucker, pardon my
- 23:50French because I do think he is a good person.
- 23:52I really did. I think he probably has his
- 23:54flaws but I think you know overall good person again we are
- 23:58assessing Coaching on-field product and what they're saying.
- 24:03And doing as a coaching staff, this is not an indictment on
- 24:07their character, or who they are as a person.
- 24:10It's an indictment on how they are coaching and how they are
- 24:13responding to the coaching that they've done.
- 24:17Let me tell you what patent are do.
- 24:18You said fourth and one we tell you now, I gotta run.
- 24:22Lead everybody just gut just go down crash.
- 24:27Well coach, what if they don't If they don't it's on me.
- 24:31We got to leave. Follow me.
- 24:34We are up at that point on. They kicked a field goal.
- 24:37So it's 26:14. We're up 12.
- 24:41We've scored on three consecutive drives.
- 24:44I think we're going to keep scoring guys, it's on me, crash
- 24:48it, they crashed it. and, Run. That's the play I told you.
- 24:55I was in the car for, all right? Yeah, yeah.
- 24:59At halftime my youngest, son, whenever our in-laws, I had to
- 25:03help my father-in-law, move some furniture.
- 25:06And before coming back home and I'm driving down my road here in
- 25:12the West End and that play happens in, why don't listen to
- 25:19all the radio broadcast. But when I'm out, I do have to
- 25:22run an errand. Or, you know, traveling or some.
- 25:25I listen to John laser. Mike burn up in as many times
- 25:28I've listened to them and it's not all the time so they're
- 25:31probably moments where they sounded as a first time I've
- 25:34ever heard Mike burn up and John laser sound eject.
- 25:36It on the radio. They sounded to ejected firms
- 25:41alumni. That's cool.
- 25:43Get it for him. Laser the play-by-play guy who
- 25:47you can feel, he's invested a lot of time.
- 25:49He cares about the program, they Yeah.
- 25:55I mean, it's some point when you're predictable shit like
- 25:58that happens. Man, it's true.
- 26:01I mean, it's one thing to like, go with your bread and butter,
- 26:06but it's another thing to like that that is an elite defensive
- 26:10front, it is and you're just, you're going to run your bread
- 26:14and butter play that you know. You know, that they watched
- 26:20hours of tape on this, they have know that they are prepared and
- 26:24know that they have the ability to make the play.
- 26:28If the call is, right. So if you talk about the
- 26:34ownership piece, 3 of 14 today on third and fourth down 3 of
- 26:4014, that's been the theme of the Season man.
- 26:42Even even in the good games, it's damn true.
- 26:47All, but it's being true and you just wishing said, well, you
- 26:52know, when you play good people, yeah, they're good defense.
- 26:55But he's, he's a damn good defensive coach.
- 26:58And as much as I hate the son of a bitch, if you told me, he got
- 27:01fired from pit and I'm you guys said why mahara Narducci I'd be
- 27:04like I'm good at that. I don't know how we, as fans
- 27:10accept him. Like, yeah, we called you an
- 27:11asshole. A lot.
- 27:13It was long as he would be like, yeah, I know, I'm an asshole.
- 27:16I get it. What do you sit here?
- 27:18And it's just like it's the same things, it's the best play of
- 27:23the game. You mentioned it.
- 27:25Brian. The best play of the game was we
- 27:27were in quarterback off tackle. They sucked in.
- 27:30And we threw it deep. Yeah.
- 27:33And I think you might have said something was texting me, like
- 27:37something about going to play calling.
- 27:38I said, one Corning call that play.
- 27:40Just see how happy for Wednesday was on the sideline, warning
- 27:43call that play man and it was, it was a position that it was so
- 27:56The different position at that was the down distance how the
- 28:00play was ran. If the throw one in there in the
- 28:03ones going to get a positive game.
- 28:06He was it wasn't going to be a big loss.
- 28:10It was perfect what we talked about second now play called.
- 28:12We're going to be key and I'm not sure if that happened on
- 28:15second down or not, it, but we had some terrible second down
- 28:19play calls, which is why third and fourth down.
- 28:22Whoops, atrocious, when you can't get yourself in position
- 28:26to essentially get it or when we got some of those good, third
- 28:32and fourth down numbers, we ran some just terrible plays or some
- 28:37predictable plays and you just like Now, what can you do about
- 28:42it? So it's frustrating man, and I
- 28:47mean we've highlighted it a lot in games past, so, you know,
- 28:52it's frustrating that we keep having to have these same
- 28:56discussions every game win or lose.
- 29:00But mostly, I mean, it's the first time.
- 29:02What was the, the staff we just saw first time since 92 that we
- 29:07haven't won a game in November, haven't won a game in November
- 29:11and will not only game in November.
- 29:13Yep. The that was the last regular
- 29:17who's 28 years? Yeah.
- 29:22This is its admin, it's it's sad and it's sad that went a has let
- 29:30it come to this before. Making the types of changes that
- 29:36he would have needed to make to keep things moving forward.
- 29:40Because I feel like, I mean, let's go ahead and let the cat
- 29:42out of the bad man. I mean this game is definitely a
- 29:47If it's possible for us to get the buyout that sumbitch out.
- 29:51But yeah, just just got nothing. I think we're just, we're beyond
- 29:56the point where we can say, give him one more year.
- 29:59I don't want to hear about the circumstances surrounding covid.
- 30:04I don't care about any of that shit.
- 30:07We're at the point now where we've seen consistently that
- 30:12these same types of things are happening each week during the
- 30:16season. Even when we win them, we're
- 30:19still seeing some of those negative.
- 30:21Things rear their heads? Yeah, it's definition of
- 30:25insanity. Is what it is.
- 30:26Yeah, we are doing the same thing over and over there.
- 30:32Are things coming out about stories, we're hearing and
- 30:34stuff. Holy crap!
- 30:36What? I'm going to play by zero there
- 30:39and we're seeing some players say things again, coaching
- 30:44product, what you see on the field?
- 30:47The same stuff is happening if the same stuff is happening
- 30:51again. Yeah.
- 30:52Brian. Do you played you coached, you
- 30:55see things differently? It's great.
- 30:57But when it's, which means, which again, it always gives you
- 31:02a leg up on a common fan. Like me, I'm grateful to have a
- 31:06friend, like, bronze Eagle, because I can ask, why, why he
- 31:12can give me a detailed explanation.
- 31:14But when the common fan like me, Me sees it.
- 31:17It's like dude those guys is you just mentioned are watching
- 31:23hours upon hours upon hours of tape.
- 31:26They have analysts that are watching hours upon hours of
- 31:28tape documenting small little things than to go back and
- 31:32teach. Yep.
- 31:34In from make a stake here. We haven't heard it out of
- 31:43certain people's mouths, but we've read it.
- 31:46Numerous places by numerous people Gary kill said and called
- 31:52out. Corn said, he doesn't know how
- 31:54to break tape down. He doesn't know how to do
- 31:56certain things. What they did?
- 32:01he did nothing and that's detrimental because it's in
- 32:07here, it's like, dude, if he's telling you this, and we do
- 32:11nothing because it made like we've said that it before run,
- 32:15his design, Focus designs are really fucking good, but if he
- 32:20can't read and break down game film, eventually that's going to
- 32:23get to a point when you have to call a play in the game, where,
- 32:26if you don't do that, well, it's going to adversely affect you
- 32:30and it doesn't Alone yummy if I've got a lot of good plays in
- 32:34my pocket that I can't call because the other team is
- 32:36stopping them. I've got to figure I've got as a
- 32:39coach there that I've got to do something different.
- 32:42Yeah and it seems like he doesn't He's got a lot of good
- 32:47plays against generic defense, but he doesn't have a lot of
- 32:51good plays, that will work situationally against the
- 32:57defense's that we play. And I think that's why you see
- 33:00him some slow to make adjustments in games.
- 33:05And almost seemed like he's Kind of beating a dead horse with
- 33:09play calls like this is supposed to work.
- 33:11This is supposed to work. Now, is not working.
- 33:14Do something different, man. Again, it's why he is not a D1
- 33:19head coach or a D1 coach. And here's another thing.
- 33:23I mean, you know, we take a look at Just consistently like, you
- 33:30know, you said I played I coach I probably give coaches more
- 33:36leash than your average fan because I've been there and
- 33:41understand that, not every single thing that goes wrong is
- 33:45the coach's fault. I'm not I'm not going to
- 33:47scapegoat the coach right out the gate and that's you know,
- 33:51for good or ill that that that's my situation when I when I look
- 33:56at But I look at film, and when I look at things like that
- 34:01moment by moment, things can look like execution, but when
- 34:06you start putting pieces together, game by game and
- 34:09stacking them stack, and I'm stacking them and you see
- 34:11Trends, that's coaching that if that's coaching that management.
- 34:18Yes. You continue to see the same
- 34:19Trends in the same people, it's in his Putting them in a
- 34:30position to do good things or you you're not looking at them
- 34:34and saying, okay, well, we're failing at execution here and
- 34:37you're not drilling enough in practice, where they learn it to
- 34:40the point where they can execute it.
- 34:41It's true, man. I mean, and I think that's the
- 34:44bigger point is, you're not seeing it and you don't know how
- 34:47to communicate it. And if you're not seeing it
- 34:51because man, we worked in situations in our professional
- 34:55lives where there are people that you tell them.
- 34:59Hey this is where the struggles are.
- 35:00Here's some things you can do to fix it.
- 35:02How many people have you seen? And this is all walks of life,
- 35:07all variants of life, you tell them.
- 35:09Hey, this is what I'm seeing. And, you know, here's some
- 35:11things you can do better than ever.
- 35:13Oh yeah, you're right. You know, I don't do this well
- 35:16and you hear them. It's like, yeah.
- 35:18And then month later same thing again, it's like I'm I'm I'm
- 35:26telling you what you're doing, wrong, giving you some advice,
- 35:29it did get rest in any in any part of your life, especially
- 35:34with kids. And you know, younger adults and
- 35:39stuff and like that. Hey, you know, remember I said
- 35:42when you do that you should do this.
- 35:44Yeah. But I didn't do that and you're
- 35:46like, well, why not? I don't know.
- 36:05You know, you need to go to work, the library, get all your
- 36:21work done. Then go out and Frolic.
- 36:23And if you hear a lot of took the 10, and I got a tattoo.
- 36:27Well, how are you working? Oh, I'm doing this in this.
- 36:31I'm like you're going to fuck up.
- 36:35Right. Yeah, and essentially, it's
- 36:39going to be really hard, comes with politicians.
- 36:42Are they talking about? But in reality during a kill,
- 36:46you know, people that came in is probably said, hey, here's where
- 36:49the screws are, here's how you can fix it.
- 36:51I have a feeling Jerry kill looked at for Wednesday and
- 36:54said, hey dude, you'll have to do it this year, but maybe next
- 36:58year you need call please. Because what I'm seeing from
- 37:04Brad, I'm telling him these things to work on a little
- 37:08better to help him get better at, he's not doing it and I'll
- 37:11ask him after the game and I just didn't do that.
- 37:14Why didn't I told you to do it? Now, I remember.
- 37:21Like one of my favorite things because I mean, we're an offense
- 37:25that was pretty Innovative at the time, getting the city, but
- 37:29one of my favorite things was like Monday morning film
- 37:32session. And what would when Marty would
- 37:36show was plays that we were running specifically for the
- 37:38opponent that we were playing that week and they weren't even
- 37:43or Playbook they were some brand new shit.
- 37:47And that shit got us excited that that was something that we
- 37:50look forward to each week, was putting those plays in and then
- 37:54eventually, you might be able to use some players, you use here,
- 37:57and another team later in the year.
- 37:59And you know, it's nice but having wrinkles every week to
- 38:03keep teams off balance and I don't, I don't feel like we ever
- 38:09do that. I feel like Brad is stuck.
- 38:13Stuck in this. We do what we do shit.
- 38:15Like if what we do ain't working that don't do what we do.
- 38:21You someday, make it up, do something different.
- 38:27This is it's like hey hey hey stop for a second.
- 38:37Get your hands. I'll get my Jeanette.
- 38:39See here. It's like let's chill with the
- 38:43offense. What?
- 38:43We're probably going to hit that a couple more times.
- 38:45Let's defense div give up 47 a day.
- 38:48They aren't off the hook, but here's what really grinds my
- 38:56gears. Here's the quote folks and this
- 38:58is and I'm gonna throw some animal.
- 38:59Let Brian go to it afterwards, eventually, you got to be able
- 39:04to cover and Tackle. Well, Brian, the first six
- 39:09possessions this defense played their fucking nuts off.
- 39:14Yeah, they got off the field when they needed to, they got a
- 39:19turnover and they forced puns. First, six possessions three
- 39:23field goals of pick into pumps, Nine points.
- 39:30We gave them zero support and don't get me wrong.
- 39:34We were sitting here and, you know, What we're talking about
- 39:39different things. And one thing I brought up to
- 39:41Brian and if y'all noticed it please When Bronson's is out
- 39:47Monday, put on there right after a defensive play called, they
- 39:52showed a picture for went a and Hamilton Hamilton probably about
- 39:554 to 5 feet to the fire left affluent and he's just kind of
- 40:01standing there with his arms folded.
- 40:04Not signaling in anything. Doesn't have a place you didn't
- 40:07hand you even with the mask you can't.
- 40:12Unless he, unless he's the very, very unemotional talker, which
- 40:16from the stuff I've heard Justin is not a very unemotional
- 40:19talker. I don't think Justin Hamilton is
- 40:22calling, please. In my heart of hearts, I do not
- 40:27think he's calling plays because I go back to the years.
- 40:29You see bud. I looked at Alex Grinch tonight
- 40:32in the Oklahoma game, I've looked at some of these other
- 40:35guys usually defensive coordinators, if they're not
- 40:37directly calling in the place, they have their unit in other
- 40:41units. They're trying to get in
- 40:42position, you saw blood for so many years given an signals,
- 40:46right? Even number and signal, He just
- 40:51standing there, like don't believe her on.
- 40:56It's odd, it's odd that you've noticed that I didn't pick that
- 41:00up. So kudos to you for, for seeing
- 41:03that. I mean, it's, it's potentially a
- 41:07scenario that he keeps. He might not be bone calling
- 41:10plays at this point. I don't know if that's something
- 41:12that is new this week, or if it's something that's been going
- 41:17on here since like, I don't know.
- 41:23UNC or whatever, whatever the game was, when the duties were
- 41:27pulled, I don't know if that's the case but you know, we had
- 41:32heard Whispers that that was a potential scenario.
- 41:36So maybe that is something that is happening.
- 41:40Maybe Tracy. Claeys is calling the defense,
- 41:42maybe maybe you know, I'm not I'm not where I don't think we
- 41:46should speculate much further past that just because it's
- 41:49nothing is concrete and we don't know what the No imaginations on
- 41:55the sidelines are really taking place but it's an interesting
- 42:00thing that to talk about for a little bit there because that,
- 42:03that kind of, it would say a lot about the situation in general.
- 42:08I think so, I think Johnson Hamilton to guy who changed
- 42:13position three times in college Who worked his way up, from UVA
- 42:17wise back to his alma mater. I think if they had told him a
- 42:22Justin, we're going to bring in Tracy, we couldn't get buried
- 42:24because the money we're gonna bring in Tracy, we're going to
- 42:27Meanwhile, Cody sees I we're going to put your title on
- 42:31because we feel like you're getting there and we want you to
- 42:33really to, you know, you're essentially going to be Tracy's,
- 42:37you're going to be second in command, you're gonna be more
- 42:40the rah-rah guy, Tracy's gonna be doing protocol and stuff and
- 42:45I think that's what it is. Brian, can I ask a question?
- 42:49Yep. How'd you feel about Jacqueline
- 42:50today? It was very feast or famine.
- 42:57We had moments where we look like A competent team we
- 43:03tackled. And then we had moments where we
- 43:05just look like We we didn't know what we were doing.
- 43:09And when we had opportunities, we weren't grab them by the nuts
- 43:14and seizing those opportunities. Another thing, dip ones.
- 43:25We talked about the play the play.
- 43:27Yeah. All right.
- 43:30The play before the one-yard touchdown was about 13, yard
- 43:34Gainer. Yeah.
- 43:35Looks like a just a just a little wide receiver alert saw
- 43:41that. We were playing off coverage
- 43:43which we played pretty much the whole damn game.
- 43:49It we're going with that sumbitch.
- 43:51Yeah and You know, quick alert play, get the ball and wide
- 43:56receivers hands at. Right?
- 43:58A door, just in front of the line of scrimmage and you had
- 44:03three guys bearing down on him and somehow he's like sideline
- 44:08juking. These entire three guys, trying
- 44:11to tackle him and he gets the turns.
- 44:13What should have been like a four-yard gain into a 13-yard
- 44:17gain that puts them, you know, right at the doorstep there.
- 44:23And I'm just looking at my son like somebody attack instead of
- 44:28letting him just dictate the turn, you have the sidelines
- 44:32attack like your you've outflank.
- 44:34Tim, you got three guys, and you've got the sideline to your
- 44:38advantage. A toddler's, are you doing Ron's
- 44:42almost in here? Saying, hey fuckers.
- 44:44If he steps out of bounds of to tackle, yeah, I'll get credit
- 44:47for He wants to dance just push it.
- 44:52Yeah, the tackling in my notes here and show got again.
- 44:57I stopped halfway through because of the pissed off - and
- 45:00same bullshit. Bullshit.
- 45:02It was it was there were times coming tomorrow.
- 45:04Connor made some incredible open field tackles today.
- 45:09It was some incredible. Really like man up using
- 45:12leveraging getting the guy to the right spot and then there
- 45:15were those oh this is going to be like a four yard game to arm
- 45:19arm swipe and you're just like, oh my God, see all this the what
- 45:24is it? The Jonah Hill from Jonah Hill
- 45:28from Moneyball when he's like, you know, Jesus Christ in Braun
- 45:37you one of our One of our big Keys.
- 45:40One of our biggest keys on Thursday night when we sat here
- 45:44and we talked, you said, it's got to be tackling, tackling
- 45:50tackling. And you know, it wasn't today
- 45:58in, if you can't tackle, it use, leverage, it has enough Talent.
- 46:05They're going to beat you. We make pick it look like
- 46:08fucking Marino today. Yep.
- 46:10Here it takes me. The play calls, you know, we
- 46:13blitzed alive. But there were times we were
- 46:15playing. I still don't get the off plays.
- 46:18There was some off, please wear it.
- 46:19Legitimately, we were 10 to 12 yards off line scrimmage.
- 46:23Pick a just how hot route of got it out as quick as you could,
- 46:26and they were getting 78 yards. Why are we doing that?
- 46:31I mean when you got a quarter like for the things that pick it
- 46:35does. Well, I mean he's a smart
- 46:39quarterback. Yes he's a smart quarterback.
- 46:42He has a good. He got us, he's got a snap arm
- 46:44to. Yeah you get that shit out
- 46:46quick. So you're essentially playing
- 46:49into like we're picking gets in trouble, is with his
- 46:53decision-making at times. Like he's a like technically he
- 46:57is a damn fine quarterback and if you're just going to Give him
- 47:01seven yards like he's going to take it every time and if you
- 47:08couple that with a missed tackle here, there those are big gains.
- 47:12Yes, they are. And then as soon as you know,
- 47:14that's working other things start working because everything
- 47:17else opens up and now the defense has focused here and now
- 47:21he's got some other opportunities elsewhere.
- 47:23We did a decent job in the in the Run game but we just let
- 47:28picket tear us up. Yeah, I mean, The lutely tear us
- 47:32up. Some people were pissed about we
- 47:34gave up 150 yard but you know I think for me and you if you said
- 47:37we were at 100 and excuse me boys?
- 47:41If we were at 150 yards giving up on the rush, we do.
- 47:43Okay, that's fine. Yeah, they only average in 104,
- 47:47so we only gave up 40 yards. So, you know, on 10 extra
- 47:51carries that that's fine. I mean, take it there for 40
- 47:55Ford, a 7010, eight yards of throw I mean Jesus Lord in
- 48:04something that some people said and I'm not sure if this was
- 48:07part of the quotes, I did not have this quoted /.
- 48:09The head coach but you know we were down two guys too.
- 48:16And Brian you and I we just had to be very careful.
- 48:19What did you say, Brian? No, no, you don't, we boys.
- 48:26We not. The fuck up.
- 48:32Not walk up. I mean, at some point, you know,
- 48:35we talked about the do what you do on on offense.
- 48:38I mean, you don't play scared on defense just because you got a
- 48:42couple backups in there. Now you don't go out there and
- 48:45put them in position where they get exploited, but you still let
- 48:49them fucking play. Yeah.
- 48:53Like we Evan flow too much between being way too
- 48:57overprotective, and then way to negligent, like there's got to
- 49:01be some sort of middle ground in there.
- 49:03We can find out and say okay well we're not going to put you
- 49:07out on Islands, the whole game but we're still going to let you
- 49:10play football and not be passive.
- 49:13You know we talked about at least against Miami.
- 49:16We felt like we were dictating terms.
- 49:18We didn't dictate terms today, man.
- 49:21We didn't dictate shit. By the way, Braun you said
- 49:24negligent? Can we write that down and send
- 49:26that over to wit? What, what, what?
- 49:33Yeah, negligence contracts. Although you know some of the
- 49:44stuff that's been said, like the most ludicrous is, like that's
- 49:48very negligent, not playing. Call of Duty, is one of my new
- 49:55favorite gifts is girl wanting to brick wall, like that's
- 49:59negligent. Don't tell people to do that,
- 50:02that's stupid. But yeah, the defense does
- 50:05deserve a bronc they gave up 23 in the first day.
- 50:10Of up 24 in the second. But when you essentially say of
- 50:14the first, our first six drives, we did nothing and they held up
- 50:17at nine. Give up nine points.
- 50:21I mean, eventually when I mean I was looking at one point time of
- 50:25possession, we're thinking the first quarter, it was like 11 to
- 50:304 like what Come on. They ended up like 35 to 24, 35,
- 50:39and a half to 24 and a half, so they dominated time of
- 50:43possession. Absolutely, I mean for a team,
- 50:47that is a running team. yeah, so you kind of sit here and kind of
- 51:03the last piece we're going to head tonight folks and by the
- 51:06way Harbaugh is going to be walking away at the end of the
- 51:09season but they pull out the win over Rutgers Tennessee.
- 51:13Volunteer fans. If you know any and your family
- 51:15asked them how pissed they are about not hiring Schiano one
- 51:21person they can directly blame for that.
- 51:24Yeah I mean you know Place Travis had that that hole.
- 51:29Campaign against hiring Schiano and in Tennessee.
- 51:33And in hindsight, that's looking like a bad call there.
- 51:38You know, I'm Cheon has landed on his feet, has been
- 51:41competitive in the Big Ten right away, right out the gate and
- 51:47meanwhile Tennessee. You still flailing despite
- 51:50pulling in some pretty decent recruiting classes and already
- 51:54having a fairly Talent Rich program to begin with.
- 51:57So Yeah. Sorry Chelsea fans you know you
- 52:06much like you know a lot of times that happens you kind of
- 52:08fit into the bullshit and let a good one, go away there and I'm
- 52:13looking at Tom Allen doing the postgame speech, I have not
- 52:17heard it. I've only seen it because every
- 52:18time it's been up has been muted.
- 52:22Give me a coke plant that give me like that.
- 52:25That you saw how the adjustments were made.
- 52:27Today. They were getting, they were
- 52:29down twenty one. The first half they made
- 52:32adjustments, both sides of the ball and I'll say it while want
- 52:37to draft and people can laugh at me and say, has been brought up.
- 52:42Ladies and gentlemen. Hey listen, I'm still gonna play
- 52:46that one next year. No team's quarterback.
- 52:50Should throw three picks. And be up over 21 points noting,
- 52:56that tells me you have way too many good people on your team.
- 52:58All right, last quote, last quote, fun about doing Saturday
- 53:03night drinking and watching football last quote, he said and
- 53:08I'm Brian, I'm sure you're going to like this one up because you
- 53:10brought it to my attention and it sounds like you were happy as
- 53:14you were reading it aloud. I don't know that.
- 53:17Anybody understands how hard this is not talking about the
- 53:22last three weeks but going back to the spring.
- 53:28Every program in the damn country is dealing with this
- 53:33shit. There are certain you know one
- 53:36or two things here. There that are specific to the
- 53:39Virginia Tech program but everyone's been struggling with
- 53:43this. I don't want excuses.
- 53:46I don't we're not at a point where excuses work.
- 53:51This is your five. I don't want excuses.
- 53:55I want all my shit, get take take ownership.
- 53:58I would much respect that whether you know whether we're
- 54:02able to buy you out or not, don't go outside, not taking
- 54:06ownership in the situation and saying, well, covid and
- 54:10everything that we've been dealing with with covid.
- 54:13And that's my best went a and personation there.
- 54:17I don't, I'm not as good as who is it on the on Packer and
- 54:21Durham that does is it is a packer no not yet.
- 54:24No, no, it's pack. Course not there is not nervous
- 54:26Packer. Okay, your nails.
- 54:28It. Yeah.
- 54:29So you know that that will that was my best.
- 54:31I'm not as good as Packer. So I'm going to leave that to
- 54:34him going forward. Yeah, now just take ownership.
- 54:37I mean, you're not, you're not teaching your players to handle
- 54:41the situation, right? The fan base is tired of it.
- 54:45The donors are tired of it. I mean some point, just going to
- 54:48say you know what, we didn't do our jobs.
- 54:52Well today and we put our kids In places where they could make
- 54:56enough place. Yep, and two-handed hooker in
- 55:00hooker, got to go got a little little chippy.
- 55:06Did we support you? We won't just you guys to be put
- 55:08in the best possible position to win because you the entire team
- 55:13we have is a talented bunch of guys.
- 55:17Yep. And I mean, I'll say this we're
- 55:20going to rock with you the rest of the way.
- 55:22Damn, right. I'm not gonna into Weeks when we
- 55:25playing Clemson, which is potentially going to be an 8:00
- 55:28night game. Jesus, Lord, it might get really
- 55:35ugly will be here, talking about it, maybe in a catatonic state,
- 55:39but we're rocking with you, I'm not turning off the TV and if
- 55:42you're so cute Finn you shouldn't because the more
- 55:46viewers helps Drive the revenues help gets the money.
- 55:51I will say this people that talking about well I don't want
- 55:54to give up donation donate again and you know, because if he's
- 55:58there that's not going to help the program alone.
- 56:01What you need to do is when you, as you seen, numerous people on
- 56:05Twitter, doing they do their donation, fire the coach this
- 56:09happen. Email, the ad things like that.
- 56:15We know we don't have the money to to make that truly, you know,
- 56:21the one that can really knock it off but the thing is those small
- 56:25donations can add up all those small donations are going to
- 56:29help the next staff that comes in, right?
- 56:33Yeah. So You know, in terms of getting
- 56:37the 10 million that's that's going to be something that's
- 56:41going to happen between donors and tourism Board of visitors
- 56:43and things like that, that there's going to be very few
- 56:47individual efforts on the the average fan that's going to help
- 56:51that the average fan is going to help build that scholarship
- 56:55fund. Yep, for the recruitment for the
- 56:57next guys that are going to be coming in on that staff.
- 57:00So I ask you a question, Braun. Yeah.
- 57:04I would have to look at them and say infrastructure be damned.
- 57:09Different things we want to do, but getting there, if we don't
- 57:14stop it here, it's not going to be there.
- 57:16It's going to be significantly further down the road until we
- 57:19can get it done. We got to start weighing your
- 57:24options. You know, we can talk salary
- 57:27pools and we can talk this that and the third and I think until
- 57:31we make the decision on Fuente and see kind of what's left
- 57:37after the dust settles. You know, I think it's going to
- 57:41be hard to roadmap what that's going to look like.
- 57:43Obviously in a perfect world. We'd want the salary pool to go
- 57:46up a little bit because that does help entice better talent
- 57:52to come here in terms of coaching and it does give you
- 57:55more flexibility to work contracts.
- 57:58If you have a specific higher you want to make.
- 58:02Now I don't want us just throwing big bucks at anybody's
- 58:08name just to get them to come here.
- 58:09That's not what I'm saying. That's not what Virginia Tech
- 58:11should be doing. That's not a good use of
- 58:14resources but I don't want us to have to say tell Barry Odom.
- 58:18We can't. You know, match 850,000 and let
- 58:23him walk when, as long as we work the rest of the salary,
- 58:28right? We can make that work.
- 58:30Yep. Hey Brian real quick.
- 58:32Let's hit this right. Go back in order.
- 58:40Things that are above us. If think holy christening happen
- 58:44right now, that either people are going to step away get
- 58:47fired. All right, I think top of the
- 58:51pecking order and there's two and you can people can say what
- 58:56they want to say about one of the two, but one of them is not
- 59:01even a doubt. I don't think it's going to
- 59:02happen. Michigan's bother.
- 59:06There is no question about that. Right.
- 59:11Yeah. Okay me from from everything
- 59:14they can offer. Yeah, they're above us.
- 59:16All right, to Texas. Yep, in the reason I will put
- 59:21Texas of Michigan above Texas and even people can say, well
- 59:25Texas has more money better facilities.
- 59:28Michigan has actually even though they're two and three
- 59:31this year, the years before the group, exactly.
- 59:53They're usually not stared at anything worse than a nine win
- 59:55season those times. Where as you know, we're
- 1:00:00becoming more accustomed to, you know, a twin season seven, when
- 1:00:05Seasons it's kind of getting a little Well, it was a little
- 1:00:08frustrating there. And then you look at Texas where
- 1:00:11they really have din flowed between it really oscillating
- 1:00:16between a decent season to a very subpar season for them.
- 1:00:21They're they're actually in terms of average wins they're
- 1:00:24kind of right there with us. It's true over the over the last
- 1:00:30five and even counting the you know the Herman years here.
- 1:00:37All right. Do you think the third in this
- 1:00:40situation if Penn State right wing Taro and five?
- 1:00:46Yeah, I mean I don't know if they're going kind of chalk this
- 1:00:49up to a it was going to be somewhat of a rebuild this year.
- 1:00:53On top of the covid stuff. I don't know if they're just
- 1:00:55going to punt it one year or if they're going to make a move
- 1:00:58based on this somewhat downward trajectory of the program.
- 1:01:04Especially like again their problem and you know, again
- 1:01:06Michigan's problem in Texas is problem and it's a problem that
- 1:01:10we're, you know, we don't necessarily have is that you
- 1:01:12know they are getting those top 15 top 10 recruiting classes at
- 1:01:17those institutions and still seeing average to sometimes
- 1:01:23slightly above average. Sometimes below average outputs
- 1:01:27on the field you know for all the ill that we're seeing this
- 1:01:32is really the first Bad way under expectation season, I
- 1:01:39think 2018. We knew it was going to be some
- 1:01:43pains. We just didn't know how bad they
- 1:01:45were going to be this year. I mean, the based on the
- 1:01:48original schedule, we were pretty much 10 wins or bust.
- 1:01:52Yep. So what we're seeing right now
- 1:01:55is completely unacceptable. So, that's where we are.
- 1:01:59And I think that's where some of those other programs are at this
- 1:02:03point as well. All right.
- 1:02:04There are two more that I think are above us, okay?
- 1:02:10And they are very likely to fire their curfew.
- 1:02:13You got, you put 45 on the number Nebraska Tennessee.
- 1:02:18Who's for who I think you still got to put Tennessee for before.
- 1:02:25Nebraska 5, we're gonna put SC. South Carolina.
- 1:02:30Yeah. I think they're on the same
- 1:02:33plane with us. Yeah, I agree.
- 1:02:35I think them, they're on the same plane as us and people can
- 1:02:39say what they have more money. They have.
- 1:02:41The facilities are very similar but I think we have it.
- 1:02:56More than anything because again you have to look South.
- 1:03:01Yeah. Because at this at this point,
- 1:03:02you know, we look at Any coaches looking at paths to a
- 1:03:07championship game will see, Virginia Tech as a much easier
- 1:03:11path to a championship game as the conference is currently
- 1:03:15constructed, then inside, it's not even a question on that.
- 1:03:20It's not even a question on that and you've got, like, you know,
- 1:03:22your West Coast. You probably got like, Stanford,
- 1:03:26Stanford is a beast of its own. That's not even anywhere.
- 1:03:29Near us are going to probably, when their coach go.
- 1:03:35SEC Vanderbilt's probably going to be letting Derek Mason go.
- 1:03:40Let's talk about another thing that was like, in terms of the
- 1:03:42Pac-12, at least, I mean, a lot of the guys that are going to be
- 1:03:45considerations out there or probably not going to be coaches
- 1:03:48that are on our radar just because of, you know, recruiting
- 1:03:52footprint, that they're accustomed to and systems that
- 1:03:55they run and things like that. So I just think the guys that
- 1:03:59are going to be the big time cannons for them or going to
- 1:04:02probably be Maybe those big 12 guys.
- 1:04:05Maybe some of the G5 schools further out there and look, I'm
- 1:04:10Les. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:04:12Yeah. You got from o-ue State like
- 1:04:18UCLA or Arizona or Stanford. Don't call him.
- 1:04:22They're losing their damn mind. You're looking at broken down
- 1:04:25West guys and stuff like that. So much.
- 1:04:29Are you going to look at G5? You're going to look at P5.
- 1:04:31Excuse me, you're still gonna look at P 5.
- 1:04:33Five and say, where do you rank? And again, it's a little
- 1:04:38different. But if you told me a guy from
- 1:04:40the Big 12, got offered a Ting at all.
- 1:04:43Pepper genatech. I would say he'd look and say
- 1:04:47I'm coming Virginia Tech because academic I don't have to worry,
- 1:04:51it's better facilities, it's more coaching, pool it, pretty
- 1:04:56good, Regional footprint, guess standard State of California,
- 1:05:00but the state of California is essentially Maryland, Virginia.
- 1:05:03My God, South Carolina Georgia. And the top part of Florida,
- 1:05:07Anjali you still getting a very good recruiting base here.
- 1:05:11So yeah, so you know those essentially software, they're
- 1:05:17five schools above us, if you ask me now, In the god, I think,
- 1:05:26I think Urban Meyer's going to go to one of those schools.
- 1:05:29I'm not going to say which one you want a pool.
- 1:05:33I think you're defensive coordinator, so, two of the
- 1:05:37three guys, we talked about her out and I get an eerie feeling
- 1:05:46that the guy Liberty is going to go to either South Carolina or
- 1:05:50Tennessee. I think freeze of fit in well at
- 1:05:54Tennessee. Oh God, he would especially
- 1:05:57being from Tennessee. Oh yeah.
- 1:06:00And I know you can say, you know, you know, well, you know,
- 1:06:07didn't they have issues with farmer and shit and it's like,
- 1:06:09well, who gives a fuck about that minute?
- 1:06:12Thank you. Want to get back to the top
- 1:06:13level of coaching and Liberty ankle getting married.
- 1:06:16So yeah. All right.
- 1:06:19South Carolina loses again even after they fire.
- 1:06:22I must champ, we speak up by 17. What's our, what kind of like?
- 1:06:28What's the what's our game-breaker going here?
- 1:06:31With the USC Utah because we're both, we have the, we have
- 1:06:36matching records today, y'all and the wandering, or I can only
- 1:06:40catch you if you have C wins, right?
- 1:06:42And takes the three, that's correct.
- 1:06:44Yeah. So we're either going for me
- 1:06:49pulling up a pretty good pretty good week or pretty much a push
- 1:06:53for what you like. Do what we say we're doing with
- 1:06:57FSU Clemson. We both won.
- 1:07:02For, I'm going to sit here and there's no game, 00.
- 1:07:05Give them 35 and a half. Maybe like, FSU.
- 1:07:07Fucking quit. Yeah, is there other than our
- 1:07:19minds tonight? It's another example of losing
- 1:07:24to a team that we're better than on paper.
- 1:07:28And that's the preparation man and you know, that's why they
- 1:07:32don't play football on paper. Unless you're playing paper
- 1:07:36football in which case you're kind of playing with paper, but
- 1:07:41that's either your nose, hey, you're whatever paper but if you
- 1:07:45get a better paper quality you know, the person for thing it
- 1:07:48still is more responsible than the actual paper.
- 1:07:52There you go. My who's all thematic can be
- 1:07:54given shit paper and beat the better paper quality guy.
- 1:07:58Hey we're somehow tying in real-world physics and paper
- 1:08:02physics. Here we go.
- 1:08:05This is what you watching. Football, hold that seven-point.
- 1:08:15Leave USA hold it. It's gonna pick here.
- 1:08:19You. All right.
- 1:08:22Well Brian, if that's all we got because it was a lot that's
