Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We're now going to Donna to Mayo, our Australia correspondent.
- 0:02Speaker 1: There's a push for a total gambling ad ban their Donna.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Yes, there was a certain inquiry in twenty twenty two
- 0:10Speaker 2: and it called for a full ban on gambling ads,
- 0:13Speaker 2: and it's back in the news because it looks like
- 0:17Speaker 2: Lady's going to face some resistance from backbenches and the
- 0:19Speaker 2: Greens in regard to what it said, or suggesting that
- 0:23Speaker 2: perhaps there won't be a gambling ad ban or full ban,
- 0:27Speaker 2: but there might be some cap imposed on them. So
- 0:31Speaker 2: we've heard from the Cabinet Minister Bill Shorten who says
- 0:33Speaker 2: that I'm not sure the blanket bands work. Interesting, right,
- 0:38Speaker 2: So the Greens spoken up and we heard from their
- 0:42Speaker 2: Communications Spokespresince Sarah Hanson Young yesterday and she said that
- 0:46Speaker 2: the Minor Party would be trying to amend that bill
- 0:49Speaker 2: or any bill that is introduced that would lead and
- 0:52Speaker 2: they do definitely want a total ban on gambling ads.
- 0:57Speaker 2: It's an ongoing campaign. But what would that mean. They
- 1:00Speaker 2: want no ads online, they want none in children's programming,
- 1:05Speaker 2: and they definitely don't want any during live sports broadcasts
- 1:08Speaker 2: and an hour either side of said sports broadcast. So
- 1:12Speaker 2: it'll be interesting to see what ends up happening. But
- 1:16Speaker 2: as Albanezi says, the government is working through the issues
- 1:20Speaker 2: and says it is very complex. Now can you imagine
- 1:23Speaker 2: media companies and major sporting codes, Well, they definitely don't
- 1:27Speaker 2: want gambling at bands because I imagine the impact on
- 1:31Speaker 2: their revenue exactly.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Hey, one person I wouldn't be bidding on, and that
- 1:35Speaker 1: is that's ray Gun. The Olympic breakdown. So she's spoken,
- 1:39Speaker 1: spoken out on what's happening, what she's saying as we
- 1:42Speaker 1: go on.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Youtuel has been relentless since that. You just can't unsee
- 1:47Speaker 2: that kangaroo move that she that she did at that
- 1:51Speaker 2: breakdancing at the Olympics. So Raygun has said that it's
- 1:55Speaker 2: all about creativity and originality, and she said she never
- 2:00Speaker 2: going to beat the girls she described them and their
- 2:05Speaker 2: power moves, but what she brought to the Olympics and
- 2:08Speaker 2: to the breakdancing was creativity and that sometimes her artistry
- 2:12Speaker 2: speaks to the judges and sometimes it doesn't, but she
- 2:15Speaker 2: is convinced that what she did was art. And we
- 2:18Speaker 2: also heard from the PM who said the Olympics, well,
- 2:20Speaker 2: it's about people participating in Sport and she gave it
- 2:24Speaker 2: a crack.
- 2:26Speaker 1: She certainly did, Donna, thank you very much for that.
