- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Back to the OG set.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: And not only that, instead of Trend Decoder tonight, we are going back for just a minute.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: We'll see what happens to Jen versus Rachel, this or that.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's been a while.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: I was missing it.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: I know, it has been a long time.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: I think it'll be fun.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: We have a lot to cover tonight.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: We're going to be talking about our experience last week at the Rocky Horror Wichita dress rehearsal.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Yes, that was Wednesday, was it?
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Yep, that was Wednesday night.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: And then we'd be talking about kind of the nostalgia of the season a little bit and some of the feelings that we're feeling as we go into November from October.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: I know that I've been sad that October's almost over.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: We'll be diving into those feelings.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: And then our hits different song tonight is Tis the Damn Season from Evermore.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Of course, we can't have great podcasts without great sponsors.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Thank you to Vu Events.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: It had to be Vuo.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Thank you to Color Therapy.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: We love you.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Yes, we do.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And thank you to Backspace Media.

- 1:39SPEAKER_00: We sure do.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: So make it rain.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Make rain stars, please.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Alright.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: So are we ready to return to this or that?
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Oh diving into this or that.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're going right on into it before we do anything else.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: We're gonna we're gonna do some this or that.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: We can do that.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I was gonna butter you up, guys.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: Jen, if you're gonna butter me up for those that are listening, Jin's wearing this amazing October festive, shiny, velvety, orange, burnt orange shirt.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: Super fall.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: I need one.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: It's super cute.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: And I am wearing our merch, our uncleft and slightly unhinged.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: Love it.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: So don't forget to get your merch either, guys.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: It is cute.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: And I'm about to order a hoodie because it is so soft and it is finally hoodie season.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: Finally hoodie season.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: And we have that cute plum color.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: I know that Jen has a plum-colored one.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: I think I'm gonna go plum too because it's so cute and comfy.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: So pretty.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: I love that color, and they're so soft, they're amazing.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: So if you are ready for a new crew neck or new hoodie, check out our merch store.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: We have several lines, a couple of them definitely benefit our friends at Ballet Witch Talk, 10% of profits.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Two of the lines go to our friends at Ballet Witch Shop.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: So go take a look, browse around.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: We may have we might have some new t-shirt ideas, some more, some new merch ideas on the frontier.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: So we'll see what happens.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: But before that, we're going to go head to head.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Old-fashioned original, this or that, Jen versus Rachel.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: So when we do this, I read off prompts.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Four or five of them, we'll see.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: And what we do is we write down our own answer, and then we try to guess what the other person is gonna write to.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: And then we go into a little bit of a little bit of a.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: I try to guess what Jen's answer would be, and she tries to guess what my answer would be.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: But you also have to write down what our own answers are.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: That way we know we're not cheating.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: So, Rachel, are you ready for this?
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Are you?
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: I was born ready.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, keeping it easy, maybe.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: The very first one.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: I had to hide a board in so long.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: I don't think that we've done this since the Riverfest episode.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: All right, hot cider or pumpkin spice latte.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, I don't know for you, honestly.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: We don't spend a lot of mornings together.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: We spent a lot of evenings together.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: So this is challenging.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: I'm not giving away anything.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: Okay, are we ready?
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: One, two, three, flip.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: PSL.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Okay, point for each of us.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Yep, we each get a point.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Okay, yes.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Love it.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: I knew yours was PSL.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: I obsess over PSL.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: I had one today.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: I was like, if it's just straight up, then yeah, I'm going PSL because I want my caffeine.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: But I like apple cider.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: But if it's like the evening and I'm outside at some event, I definitely want it with a shot of something.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: But that's a dirty.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: That's like a dirty apple cider.
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: So I was like whiskey in it.
- 5:01SPEAKER_02: PSL.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: So you got it right.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: I thought I had you.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: I almost put cider for you.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: I came really quick.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Oh cheers.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Our first one back and we tap.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: I know, look at that.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: We're on it.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: We're on it.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: I love a PSL so much.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Even beer form.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Even in beer form, the yumkin.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: I love the yumkin from Wichita Brewing.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: I so I did have a pumpkin spice latte today.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: And it just so happens.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: I get smell it.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: The pumpkin spice on you.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: The pumpkin spice latte that I had today was at Reverie.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: And I don't know if many of but at Reverie right now they have a specialty menu for Rocky Horror Wichita.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: They do.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: They do, and it's freaking cool.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: And so I had the PSL from that menu today.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: And it was, of course, delicious.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Did they like add cayenne or something?
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: I no, they didn't do that, but if but historically Reverie has been known to use pumpkin puree in their PSLs.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: And so it's like creamier.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's delicious.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: It's so delicious.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Very well balanced in flavor, which I really like.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: So oh my god, it was and I hadn't I haven't had a Reverie PSL in probably years.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: I haven't, I don't think ever.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: It's definitely worth it.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: If you're a pumpkin spice latte person, it's on the list.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Go give Reverie a try because I think they win.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: I think they win.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: I think they win.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, sure.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Shut up, Starbucks.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, they yeah.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: It definitely is Starbucks.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Okay, so old photo albums are scrolling your memories on your phone.
- 6:43unknown: No.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: That's hard.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Goodness.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Oh fuck.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: We're like five minutes in and I'm already cursing up a storm.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, guys.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Did you catch?
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: I didn't even catch it.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, like a list of it.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: Oh, you pirate.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: This is hard.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: Frick.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: I feel like this one's gonna be a trickery.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: Okay, are you ready?
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: No.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I already wrote it.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Same.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Okay, flip.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Phone phone.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: I hate that's both of our answers.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: I know, I hate it too.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: But this is basically how this podcast got started, okay?
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: And I literally just earlier this evening found a photo on my phone album that was of a prime moment in our phone.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: Prime moment.
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: Our friend Hannah much appreciates.
- 7:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and sent it to her and was like, oh my gosh, do you remember this moment?
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: It was from an old Halloween party.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: And also, there's just I do love looking through the photos I have.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: The like, but they were like what my parents took, or they're the ones that I took are like of my dog and stuff.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: Like the old family lookbacks are like there's only a set amount of them, and no one does that anymore.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: I used to be a scrapbooker.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: I know I did too when the boys were babies.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: I still have all my scrapbook stuff, and I use it to make cards like birthday cards and holiday cards and stuff like that.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah when I have time.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: But it's time.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 8:29SPEAKER_02: But I that's what I would use it for because I still have so much of it, but no one prints off pictures anymore.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: At least not that much, not like they used to.
- 8:38SPEAKER_02: So it is tough because even towards the end of my family photos, they started putting them on discs and stuff.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: And so it's hard to find an actual physical copy of a family album.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: There really is these days.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: Like which is kind of sad and scary.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: So we need to start everybody take no start printing off good photos of you and your loved ones.
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: Like it does just dig though, because you just have to get a book to put them all in.
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: And colored ink is expensive.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: But you know what?
- 9:09SPEAKER_02: That's fine.
- 9:09SPEAKER_02: So is your phone bill?
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: Like facts.
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: Everything's expensive.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: So why should not be nostalgic about it?
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, your phones have good cameras, so take pictures with your phones and then print them off.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: Boom.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: Easy peasy.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and you know what?
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Walgreens does a great job, and they always have a promo code.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: I swear to God, you do.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: That's good.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: All the time.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: I always thought they were expensive as hell, but maybe I'm looking at the wrong place.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: And you can also use Amazon.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Amazon, if you have an Amazon Prime account, Amazon does that.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: It takes a couple days to get them.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Whereas Walgreens, you can go 10 minutes later sometimes.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's cool.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: I like to so usually the reason I'm printing out photos is if you can see our background, we have this gallery wall and yeah.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: See, you're I say that you're better at it than anyone I know.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: And and when Nick had his graduation party, I printed out uh probably a hundred little four by four photos from his entire life to use as d decor on the bud bases, you know, and some other things.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so but yeah, it's more of a decor kind of situation now where I used to put them in photo albums, I used to put them in a photo box.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: It's so much more satisfying, even if you don't take the time to scrapbook a page around a photo, I think it's so much more satisfying to flip through actual photos in a book than just swiping.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: A little more nostalgia involved for sure, because then you're dealing with the lighting at the time and the the quality of the film from the time.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: I swear they all time periods have a certain look to them.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: If we if we print stuff off now, it all is the same.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: But yeah, and to filter.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's yeah.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: And also take notes on the back of your photos or you'll forget.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: That is so true.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: I was really good about that when I was in eighth grade.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: When back so eighth grade is when I became yeah, I can put nail it on the head.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Eighth grade is when I became obsessed with photos, and uh which is also probably why I love social media marketing.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: That's gonna be one of my resolutions, is too.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: I'm writing it down to make sure you label your photos, to print them off and start.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: Print off your photos, yes, yeah.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Print off more photos, and yeah, that's it.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Print off more photos.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Print off more photos, use your photos, put them places, yeah, put them in frames, they look so pretty.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I love, don't get me wrong, I love looking, I love it when so I have an Apple phone and I love it when I get memories.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: I like to look through the memories, and I also love Facebook memories and things like that too.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: But I it is fun just tangibly having something to pick up and look at.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: Think about the moment.
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: If we were having a girls' night and I just flip up my phone and start swiping versus if I go, oh my god, let me get the book, and I go get the book and throw it on your lap and start flipping through photos.
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: It would be it's so much more of a moment, yeah.
- 11:56SPEAKER_02: Anyways, yeah, okay, that's definitely gonna be one of my resolutions in the next few months, is gonna be printing off more photos.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, mark my words in in December when we're talking about this.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: Okay, so it's recorded here.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: We have it.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: We're gonna check back in December and see where Rachel is with her printing.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: With her printing.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're gonna we're definitely gonna check.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Send me that promo code.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna tell Claude right now.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Oh, because this goes in the transcript.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: We can edit it out.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: Claude, make sure that you you hold us accountable and incorporate us checking in with Rachel about her printing off of photos in December.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: Okay, so next one.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: I already know the answer for you.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Never mind.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: I'm not doing this one.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: Cheater.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Cheater, pumpkin eater.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: Uh we can do it anyway, but it's it would be too easy.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: Okay, I have one.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Hometown visit or make new traditions where you are.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: I feel like you're gonna get me in trouble with my parents for this one.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: I'll get in trouble with my own parents, so let's just be in trouble together.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: Never mind, that's not my answer.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: Did I ruin that one?
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Did I?
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: I think we ruined it.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about it.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: Clearly, we tied.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: That counts.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: We're talking about it.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: We each get away.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: We both chose choose where you are, right?
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: I think this is important because especially when you become an adult and everybody else in your family is adulting too.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: It's not just you don't get to always go back to your hometown to enjoy the same experiences.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: So I think that our families, we have we celebrate the holidays off of the holiday days so that we can make sure we incorporate every member of our family.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:41SPEAKER_02: Or every branch of our family for starters.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: And incorporating new family members incorporates new traditions, which I love, and I think that's important.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: But as families grow, dates might change and traditions might change a little bit, but I don't think that makes it less special.
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: I think it makes it more special.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: I know you have to adapt to the time.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: I agree, and just because something is slapped on a calendar doesn't mean it has to be that day that you celebrate, right?
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I feel like as long as you're coming together with the people, yeah and sure, Tim and the boys and I have our Thanksgiving Day tradition here at the house.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: And there used to be, we used to be like the kids and Brenda came over to do that too, but that that tradition is morphed.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: And this year we're definitely not doing that tradition at all.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: Tim and the boys and I will be doing our own thing where we watch the Thanksgiving Day parade, we watch some football, and we listen to whose restaurant?
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Alice's restaurant on the record player and drink whiskey and eat charcuterie.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Not the boys.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, the yeah, no, they definitely do listen to Alice's restaurant with us, but they don't get to drink any whiskey or eat charcuterie.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: And then of course, one my my sister-in-law and I were just texting right before this about what our plan is going to be for my side of the family for Thanksgiving this year.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Are we meeting up in Tulsa?
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: Are we going to eat it?
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: What are we doing?
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: But it's definitely not the tradition that I had growing up.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: And now that Nick doesn't live at our house anymore, and he's gonna have to do I don't know how many Thanksgivings on his own.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: He's gonna have to pick what he wants to do now.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: So that that even that is shifting.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: I think it's but I think that's so good, and that's the whole point is just making that time be special.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: That's the whole point of celebrating, is just knowing the intention behind why you're getting together, not necessarily the exact day.
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: I think a lot of people think, oh, we have to get together on the day.
- 15:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yes, that is special and brilliant, but also like the way of the world we're in now doesn't give us the freedom to just have those days clear.
- 15:59SPEAKER_02: And yeah, and I think it's important too.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: Like, I was thinking to even what I do in the holiday seasons around whenever I can with whoever it is that's willing to join me, is because of the traditions that were instilled in me from my parents.
- 16:17SPEAKER_02: So I want to carve pumpkins.
- 16:19SPEAKER_02: I got three pumpkins last weekend and carved them with my boyfriend, and so we carved pumpkins, and then I was able to roast the seeds last night.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: And to me, I was like, I have to get this in before before Halloween, I have to do something festive before Halloween, but it's been so busy.
- 16:36SPEAKER_02: But to me, making sure I do at least a couple of those solid things make it the holiday, yeah, even though it's not necessarily it is a tradition, but I would normally have done that growing up with my family.
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: So if you think about it, even if you're still and you can still do these things, yeah, even when I was single and I didn't have anyone to do it with, I would go buy a pumpkin and carpet because I thought it was so fun.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: It is so fun, and I I I just felt like I had to do it.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: So I think that you know, tradition and holiday stuff like that is it doesn't have to be in your hometown with the exact same people.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: Yes, that's beautiful, and you should always hold on to those memories, yeah.
- 17:20SPEAKER_02: But things evolve and change, and that's just how life lives.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: I just okay, there are certain things that I appreciate about my hometown, especially on Thanksgiving, because one thing that I love to do in Enid, the I think it's I believe it's the Friday after Thanksgiving.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: They do Enid lights up the planes, and it's when they light up the entire downtown, and they have a they have a parade and they have hot cocoa and they have kind.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: I feel like there's even carnival rides included in this thing nowadays, and almost probably caramel apples.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: And yeah, and then pop up like pop-ups.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: I'm getting it's yeah, so it's very much like that.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: It's very salemy except for Christmas, and it's very cutesy, small town.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: Enid's not that small of a town, but it's got that small town feel to it where it's the same people out every year for the same freaking tradition, and you know the person that's emceeing the parade, Frank Baker, and is it's that's cool, big fun.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: And there are things like that.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: I that and then afterwards I like to go to Callahan's with Tim and drink German beer at an Irish pub.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: It's fun.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: That's cool.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: Um there's hometown things that I do, but but honestly, I really like what we've built here in Wichita.
- 18:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that's what you should because that's what makes you feel cozy at home all the time.
- 18:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I guess it's my hometown is Wichita.
- 18:50SPEAKER_02: I've grown up in Wichita or suburbs of it.
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:53SPEAKER_02: But I we would always go like to the family farm in our city to celebrate with the big family bunch for like holidays, like Thanksgiving and stuff coming about later.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: But so I guess it's still not like going back to my hometown, it's more like just going back to where all the people are.
- 19:11SPEAKER_02: But now all the people have dispersed.
- 19:12SPEAKER_02: So now it's really just like everyone just needs to find a time to come together.
- 19:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and usually it's ideal if you find one day to celebrate all of the holidays on the same day because everybody has different branches of family.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: It's true, there's a lot going on, there's a lot of moving parts, and nobody wants anybody to nobody should want anybody to feel guilty about missing this or that.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, especially not this segment, this or that.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, sorry, yeah.
- 19:40SPEAKER_02: I forgot we're just on a this or that.
- 19:42SPEAKER_02: We got on my own.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: That's okay because it's it's related to our overall theme tonight, so nothing wrong with that.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: But I guess that that brings me to we'll do one more.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: Maybe this will be a tiebreaker, maybe we'll end in a tie.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: I guess we'll find out right now.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: I know, I'm like, we can edit some of that last bit out because I feel like we were repetitive.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: No, no.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: All right, so would you what would you rather rewatch an old favorite movie or try something new?
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: Oh, we are doing would you rather?
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: This is oh, that's a precursor into things that we might be doing in the future.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: We might be doing would you rather?
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: Sorry, what?
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: Where's the option?
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: She got so excited.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: I got distracted by the prompt.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: Would you rather re-watch an old favorite movie or try something new?
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: Why is your face like that, Jen?
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Because I don't know if I'm right or not.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: I really want to be right.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: I'm pretty sure that I'm right, but oh my god, what if I'm wrong?
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: This could be the tiebreaker.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: This could be the tiebreaker.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: You might shock me.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Are you, Don?
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: I wrote it.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: Okay, are we ready?
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Flip.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: I said favorite movie for both.
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: Oh, I put try new on mine.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: Oh! So you!
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: So you win, right?
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Because I was wrong about you.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: I guess so.
- 21:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so Rachel wins.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: But you're not completely wrong.
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: I know, because we we watch stuff together all the time.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 21:11SPEAKER_02: I feel like it's because if I know we're in a comfy zone and we're watching it together, then I'm like, yeah, we both love this.
- 21:18SPEAKER_02: Let's put it on.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: And then also because we're probably can talk over it and also still feeling on the mood, we also best for us.
- 21:25SPEAKER_02: But then also, depending on the mood, we can just sit and zone out and watch it and be perfectly quiet together and comfortable.
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: We have both sides of that favorite movie aspect.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: But then with something new, it's hard for me to find something new that I enjoy, and I just don't feel like they make that many good new movies.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: Like it's hard to find that are festive, anyways.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: So whenever there is something new, I like to try it and see if I like it.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: So I maybe duped you there because you weren't completely wrong.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: I wasn't trying to screw up, but I was like, I do like a refreshing new thing every now and then.
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: But I guess the theme of nostalgia.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: I tricked you because yes, I do like the old classics that we both love.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: To be fair, I know.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: I watched a new movie yesterday that I was not familiar with, although I just did it.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: Did you like it?
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: I loved it.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: I loved it.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: I want to rewatch it again.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: So I watched Practical Magic 2.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: I'll watch it with you.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: It's a good idea.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: I wanted to buy it.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: Did you buy it?
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: I did.
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: Shit.
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna be here a lot later than I'd planned.
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: Movie night! Yeah.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: I have to be at a meeting at 8 30.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: So it's probably maybe we pick a different day.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Probably a different day.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: I need to go in my pack.
- 22:51SPEAKER_02: I wanted to buy it earlier this week.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, and I was like, I can wait.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: I think you'll love it.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: That's all I'm gonna tell you about it.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: But it's very good.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: That's exactly what I was thinking when I was thinking of something new.
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: I was like, but that, but again, that's a halfway base because we know we love practical magic.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: Yes, very good.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: So we're coming out with a second one, so we just know.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: So good.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: And but then I also watched yesterday Hocus Pocus 2, but I've seen that one ever since it came out.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: I watch it every year.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: I love that movie too.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: Hocus Pocus 2 was okay, so get this.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: So I was in the hotel, Hocus Pocus 2, and I was like in half of a work mind days and also chilling out for the evening, and I was trying to find something.
- 23:32SPEAKER_02: And during the week in the hotels, there's not usually very good movies on.
- 23:35SPEAKER_02: No.
- 23:36SPEAKER_02: In October, there's actually some decent movies on because festive.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: Yes, because they go festive.
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: So I saw Hocus Pocus 2, and I was like, no way they're streaming, they're putting that out here.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: No way they're streaming that out here live on the TVs in the hotels.
- 23:51SPEAKER_02: But then I got in my head I wasn't thinking right.
- 23:53SPEAKER_02: I was thinking it was practical magic too.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: Oh shoot.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: I was like, oh, I've already seen this.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: But I still fully enjoyed it.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: I was happy to watch it.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: But fun take on and honoring the sisters is wonderful.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: Love it.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: That's what I love about both of those movies.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: They're both very witchy and sister-y, it's so cool.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: Big fan of all of that.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: Man, okay, that was fun.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: We have to do this or that.
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: I love this or that.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of fun.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: Of course, we'll bring back trend decoder from here and there, but we gotta keep things fresh.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: Maybe we'll just start a little rotation.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: Okay, so now to dive into the meat and the heart of tonight's conversation.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: We had the lovely opportunity to go see the dress rehearsal for Rocky Horror Wichita last Wednesday evening.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: At the B29 Dockhanger, which is also where the performances are.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: It's happening, guys.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: It's happening.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: It's happening right now.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: And if you don't have tickets, you're gonna wish it you did.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: I heard that Friday, October 30th, is sold out.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they have some that are sold out.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 25:01SPEAKER_02: I think it might be pinching in, guys.
- 25:03SPEAKER_02: So I know.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: Because there's the next ones are Thursday, October 29th.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: There are some left for 7 p.m.
- 25:12SPEAKER_02: Then Saturday, October 31st, there's some left for the 7 p.m.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: showing, and there are plenty, it seems, left for the midnight showing.
- 25:21SPEAKER_02: So what a way to select your seats.
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: And you oh yeah, there's the midnight showing on Halloween.
- 25:29SPEAKER_02: Definitely get your tickets.
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: There's plenty left.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: I highly suggest getting some in the purple rows when you go to sleep.
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: Oh, for sure.
- 25:37SPEAKER_02: You want to be close up there.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: But even if you're in the blue seats, you're still gonna get some great views on Slave the whole entire stage.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: Definitely give it a look.
- 25:46SPEAKER_02: We got a whole layout when we went to the rehearsal.
- 25:49SPEAKER_02: So like all of the seats are gonna give you a good show.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: And if you go to the midnight show and you will see me there.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: I'm going on the 30th.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: Rachel and I will be there together along with many other of our friends.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: And then I'm going back for the midnight.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: Let's freaking go.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: So maybe I'll see you there if you decide to come, which you should.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: So I was really excited walking into the venue.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: Obviously, we were greeted immediately by our friend Joseph.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: He is fantastic.
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: We love you, Joseph.
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: Thank you for always bringing the hype, being amazing.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: He's also the one that pitched the idea of sponsoring the show, which we did.
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: So we are official sponsors.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: So you can find us in the playbill, which is kind of fun.
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's so cool.
- 26:34SPEAKER_02: We haven't been on playbill yet.
- 26:35SPEAKER_02: So that's neat.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: You'll see us on there.
- 26:37SPEAKER_02: And I'm really happy to see that.
- 26:39SPEAKER_02: That's cool.
- 26:39SPEAKER_02: We're in print.
- 26:40SPEAKER_02: We look good in print, guys.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: We do look good in print.
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: I like that.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he was out there breaking in parts of his costume.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: Yes, he was.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: Those boots.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: Those boots, Joseph.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: They're a killer.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're pretty amazing.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: What do you think about the what is so?
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: I know we don't want to dive too far into this, but for a dress rehearsal, what was your thoughts?
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: Oh man, so everyone is so into their character.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: I think that it's going it's an amazing.
- 27:08SPEAKER_02: It was an amazing dress rehearsal.
- 27:10SPEAKER_02: It didn't even really seem like a dress rehearsal.
- 27:13SPEAKER_02: Like true.
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: I can't even, I don't want to go too into it.
- 27:17SPEAKER_02: But yeah, everything is gonna be so cool.
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: I love the little details that we saw even that night.
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we saw a few little things.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: With the lights and all of the artwork that went into it.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: And the costume.
- 27:31SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 27:32SPEAKER_02: I love how their interpretation of starting the show was.
- 27:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 27:39SPEAKER_02: It's really cool.
- 27:39SPEAKER_02: So I'm very excited to see it when the whole vibe is set up in the whole area.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: It was started.
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: They had tables and stuff set out around, but it's gonna be great, you guys.
- 27:48SPEAKER_02: They're gonna have, and I didn't even realize, duh, I knew that they're going to, but I didn't think about it.
- 27:53SPEAKER_02: They're gonna have a whole food menu.
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, by Bloom and Catering.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Did a whole specialty menu.
- 27:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, whole specialty menu.
- 28:00SPEAKER_02: And you have to read the descriptions.
- 28:02SPEAKER_02: You have to, it's hilarious, and they're gonna be delicious.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: Did you see the option with the caviar?
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: I'm so going for that.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: Maybe we should have a good idea.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: I know you are.
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and so then there's so many food options.
- 28:13SPEAKER_02: They also have a specialty cocktail menu.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: Of course.
- 28:16SPEAKER_02: And it's gonna be open through the whole show, not just on intermission.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: So right, so you can get up and go get stuff as you need it.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: Yes, and it's an interactive show too.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: There will be like, what do you call it, heckling to an extent.
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: And the cast is fully aware of this.
- 28:31SPEAKER_02: And I was so happy to see that they practiced that in the dressing room.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: I know they did.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: It caught us off guard a little bit.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: I was like, what is happening back there?
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: But it's like some of the little things that they shout at.
- 28:41SPEAKER_02: As live Rocky Horror virgins over here, we didn't know.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I just we're so technically virgins.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: I feel like we've been to third base, but we're still virgins.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we've been to third base, but we haven't seen the full live.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: So I think we might get a little mark on us when we walk in the doors.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: Oh and yeah, just know that there it's gonna be live interaction, and the on-stage crew and team is fully aware of that.
- 29:10SPEAKER_02: And it did not throw them at all.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: If I was on stage and I heard people talking from the audience and I was in character, I feel like it would throw me in there.
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: I know, it'd get in my head.
- 29:18SPEAKER_02: If anything, I feel like it fed them.
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: And they love it.
- 29:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I definitely think so.
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: So cool.
- 29:23SPEAKER_02: I love that they've that they seem so prepared.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they really this was what three, four months worth of just preparing.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: I know this all came together so quick.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: So I can only imagine what next year is gonna be like.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: I just I love what this is turning into.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: So also Thursday night after opening night, I met up with Brent and the cast at Goldfinch.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: Yes, and the energy after that first performance was absolutely incredible.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: It was it was such a fun night.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: It was really cool to see the cast and the crew and the the production team, everyone just out.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: So they had taken over the outdoor patio and they just filled the whole patio.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: And just watching them interact with each other and be so incredibly proud, and they should be their performance.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: I didn't see opening night, but I know you can I know for a fact that it was absolutely fantastic.
- 30:20SPEAKER_02: That they have good chemistry and they have great chemistry.
- 30:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: That's exciting.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: It's a cool thing to be able to see and and witness firsthand.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: Very cool.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: All right, so lots to look forward to.
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: Don't forget, there are still tickets available for Thursday night, October 29th.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: And there are still tickets available for Halloween, whether you go to the 7 p.m.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: or the midnight showing.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: Don't forget, get your tickets, rockyhorrorwithshaw.com.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: Okay, it's time to settle in.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, we have some conversating to do about the autumn pause.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: There's a feeling that shows up in October and November, looking back on everything that happened this year, all the changes, and also feeling excited about what's ahead.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: It's the one window where there's actually time to stop and feel it before the late November to New Year.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: Whoa.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: So, Rachel, you brought this whole theme idea today.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: I guess so.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about describe that feeling in your own words.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: When does it actually hit you?
- 31:26SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 31:26SPEAKER_02: It comes in waves.
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: I start feeling it every time the weather changes back to cold.
- 31:33SPEAKER_02: When I can start wearing a flannel, you know me.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: Yes, I do.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: That's why that was gonna be one of the prompts.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: I'm like, no, too easy.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: Too easy.
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: It was flannel or cozy sweater, and I was like, nope, we're both gonna get that one immediately.
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you and Hannah actually even had a bet.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: When I was meeting them last year at the pumpkin patch, before I showed up, because they got there before me.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: They were like, What do you think Rachel's gonna be wearing?
- 31:56SPEAKER_02: Flannel.
- 31:57SPEAKER_02: They were like, combat bits, leggings, then a flannel and a tank top and something like that.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: Like you wore jeans instead of legs.
- 32:04SPEAKER_02: I think I wore jeans instead of leggings, but the same thing.
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: A tank top on a flannel.
- 32:10SPEAKER_02: That's hilarious.
- 32:11SPEAKER_02: I still haven't changed, guys.
- 32:13SPEAKER_02: It's I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse.
- 32:15SPEAKER_02: No, I think it's great.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: Layering is so smart, it's important for my body temperature.
- 32:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:22SPEAKER_02: So yeah, to I don't I couldn't really even tell you why it hits or when it hits or what it is.
- 32:27SPEAKER_02: I think a lot of people this time of year, they start talking about, oh, or I see posts on Instagram about like, oh yes, so excited for seasonal depression.
- 32:37SPEAKER_02: And I don't remember maybe it's because I have a more mind, I don't want to word it wrong or but I have things differently.
- 32:46SPEAKER_02: I have a more open perspective of like I have five people thinking in my head from five different perspectives at one time.
- 32:54SPEAKER_02: And so I think of it more positively, even if it is like whatever people describe as that feeling.
- 33:03SPEAKER_02: I think a lot of people just feel it differently.
- 33:06SPEAKER_02: And I don't know what it is.
- 33:07SPEAKER_02: I don't know if people think it's the moon and the sun and the tides and all that changing at this time of year, but I feel like it, I don't know.
- 33:15SPEAKER_02: I think it's just like the time of year where it is that like lull because like the heat of the summer, and then this is like where it's like mid-range, yeah.
- 33:24SPEAKER_02: For not and not only just seasonally, like looking back to your ancestry, this is when we would be like cleaning up and preparing hard for the hard winter and for the next year all at the same time, and that's mentally what we do, but in this day and age, we mentally prepare not only for that internally, but with the world we are dealt with, which is all of the all of the different things that we've promised to attend, all of the things that we don't have fully planned yet that will have to be planned and executed on top of our jobs that we have to fully execute around all of these things that we still want to do, and yet it feels like a need to do, and it should be a want-to-do and it should be a get-to-do.
- 34:13SPEAKER_02: So I don't know how to describe it, but I think it's just the best time of the year because it's so reflective in so many capacities.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: I think it's just it's a nice, cozy time of year, and it makes me feel this feeling in my chest, and I don't know what it is.
- 34:31SPEAKER_02: It just makes me feel excited but calm but cozy and reminiscent.
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: And they a lot of people, I think that's why people get drawn to people for things, especially in the winter.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: They're like, we bond together, we're sharing meals and a lot of traditions together during this time, you know.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: And that makes sense.
- 34:51SPEAKER_00: I know, I I definitely feel like don't let me ramble on too hard.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: People come together over meals, and that's and that's literally a lot of what we do during the holiday season.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: We're coming together over meals or a certain occasion, which also obvious like many times includes meals and beverages, sitting around a table, chit-chatting, congregating, yeah, hanging out with each other.
- 35:15SPEAKER_02: And if you think about it, a lot of families don't even get the opportunity to share updates with one another until this time of year when there is a lull or there is a excuse per se to come together.
- 35:30SPEAKER_02: And so when you have that reason or excuse or purpose to come together, I feel that's when like you're you actually get to share everything about your year.
- 35:45SPEAKER_02: And it actually puts everything in perspective because, for example, I hadn't seen one of my cousins in a long time.
- 35:52SPEAKER_02: Like it's just crazy how much time passes until you see someone again, and then you ask them a simple question, and it seems like it hasn't been that long, but then you see them, and maybe a year or two has passed since you have seen them at that family gathering because everyone has different schedules and they don't always make the holidays, and then you see them again, and you're like, Holy shit, I thought you were in that job for one or two years.
- 36:19SPEAKER_02: Oh no, you've been in it for six years.
- 36:21SPEAKER_02: Oh, in Molly.
- 36:22SPEAKER_02: Holy shit.
- 36:23SPEAKER_02: Last thing in your mind about that person that your family members with was pinned on that last memory.
- 36:31SPEAKER_02: So it's kind of crazy to me.
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: I think it's a very important time to take inventory of where you and your family are at and make sure to reach out to everybody because winter is coming.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: Winter is coming, winter's coming.
- 36:44SPEAKER_02: I hate to get too nostalgic, but no, it's true.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: And Tim and I, Tim and I were talking about this actually last night because we found out that a friend of ours had a relative that unalived themselves this past week.
- 36:57SPEAKER_00: And we're like, unfortunately, it is that time of year too, in that capacity, where we have to start remembering that not everybody is in that joyous place that most that not even most of us, that a lot of us are.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: We forget to we it's very important for us to check in.
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: Check in and re-check out, and it's people that get they get not they don't always get quiet.
- 37:20SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's the ones that always have the smile on their face.
- 37:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:23SPEAKER_00: So you it just need to you need to check in.
- 37:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, absolutely.
- 37:27SPEAKER_02: Absolutely, with everything all abundant.
- 37:30SPEAKER_02: I my example for that was we had ran into my cousin, my cousin's wife, so my cousin.
- 37:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she ended up being the nurse that took care of Caleb, right?
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: Oh my oh my gosh, and I don't even think we've talked about this on the podcast, guys.
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: Oh we have Auntie Rachel in the house.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: Hi what was that three days after the recording of that?
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: Up the last episode with just me, you and I that our little baby was born.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: Yes, I know.
- 37:58SPEAKER_02: I'm not I'm that auntie that's like, look.
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: And I love that about you.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: She's so perfect, so perfect, so precious, sweet little baby.
- 38:07SPEAKER_02: You're getting me off topic.
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: Sorry, but let's talk about your cousin.
- 38:11SPEAKER_02: No, sorry, no, we'll get back to that.
- 38:12SPEAKER_02: No, but the fact is, I saw her there and I was like, I know you've worked here, but then I brought her and me and my brother even were both there in the room, and he was like, Oh, yeah, you've been doing that this long, huh?
- 38:22SPEAKER_02: Has it been like a couple years?
- 38:23SPEAKER_02: And she was like, No, like six or seven years, and he was like, Oh, and I was like, it's I was like, that's insulting sounding, but also I'm like, it's probably just because we haven't seen each other, or actually, when we have seen each other, it hasn't been speaking in depthly, yeah, yeah.
- 38:40SPEAKER_02: In depthly, as if that's a word.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: It is it is now that needs to be sure, as if that's a word on the back.
- 38:49SPEAKER_02: It is now, but that just goes to show how you really have to connect with people, but in that moment it didn't matter, we're family, so that's also the beautiful thing about coming together and making excuses or reasons this time of year.
- 39:05SPEAKER_02: But, anyways, yes, I guess another thing that's so cool and whimsical and magical about this year is yes, I am now an aunt, and I can't believe she's real.
- 39:14SPEAKER_02: I don't, she's so beautifully perfect, beautifully perfect.
- 39:19SPEAKER_02: I'm speaking from anti view, all right, but I'm just so happy that Kayla is healthy, baby is healthy, and they are home and safe and doing well.
- 39:33SPEAKER_02: And oh my god, is she the cutest thing?
- 39:36SPEAKER_00: She is the cutest little thing.
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: She is adorable.
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 39:42SPEAKER_02: I can't believe she's real.
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: Whenever I hold her, I just want to, I just can't stop looking at her.
- 39:47SPEAKER_02: That's all you really can do.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: It's not like she can talk.
- 39:50SPEAKER_02: So I talk to her and then she doesn't say anything.
- 39:53SPEAKER_02: So I'm like, okay, we'll wait.
- 39:56SPEAKER_02: We'll wait till you can.
- 39:58SPEAKER_00: But I in the meantime, let's see me.
- 40:01SPEAKER_02: No, she is just the perfect little bean you ever did see.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: I don't even know.
- 40:08SPEAKER_02: I can't believe she's real.
- 40:09SPEAKER_02: I don't think I'm gonna believe she's real until she talks.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: Like starts smiling at you and battling.
- 40:16SPEAKER_02: She will be protected at all costs.
- 40:18SPEAKER_02: Like, there's nothing.
- 40:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so very excited about that.
- 40:23SPEAKER_02: My mother came and spent a week with us and helped around the house and helped keep everyone settled in.
- 40:29SPEAKER_02: And I'm sure she enjoyed the baby cuddles as well, and spending time with brother and I and Kayla.
- 40:36SPEAKER_02: And just and they helped fix some things around the house, like some of our doors and stuff.
- 40:40SPEAKER_02: Her and Jim, her husband did because, like, golly, that place it's a rain till so it does what it does, and we do what we can do.
- 40:51SPEAKER_02: But yeah, they definitely helped uh sniff up a couple of things, and so we really appreciated having them around and cooking for us and stuff.
- 40:59SPEAKER_02: Oh, that is nice, but oh my goodness, I think we're all just so pleased that our family is it's just crazy that our family is bigger, yeah, and it's so cool to see Kayla and my brother just becoming parents, and it's so naturally happening.
- 41:16SPEAKER_02: I knew it would, but actually seeing it happen, I'm like, wow, my brother just carrying her around.
- 41:22SPEAKER_02: Like it's he doesn't, he just knows what to do.
- 41:26SPEAKER_02: It's so precious, and I love it.
- 41:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't have and don't let me continue.
- 41:31SPEAKER_00: I could go on.
- 41:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, it brings that it brings back to mine like February of this year, us watching Hannah and Shane become parents.
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:39SPEAKER_00: This time last year, Hannah was pregnant, and yeah, we're talking a lot about that, and so man.
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: And again, back to the traditions, they're gonna change, and this year's gonna be a little different.
- 41:49SPEAKER_02: There's no baby in the picture, there's a new family member.
- 41:53SPEAKER_02: So we're gonna just adjust to whatever we need to do to make traditions what they are.
- 41:58SPEAKER_00: So amazing.
- 41:59SPEAKER_02: Can you believe that her due date was originally Thanksgiving Day and she's I know she was she just not wanting to wait, she wanted to be able to have Halloween birthday party.
- 42:09SPEAKER_00: That's right, she did.
- 42:09SPEAKER_00: She's like, I am an October baby.
- 42:11SPEAKER_00: She did, she did.
- 42:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, my brother is like, she's not allowed to wear anything but a fluffy big ugly costume for her birthday party.
- 42:19SPEAKER_02: He's already dad mode, it's hilarious.
- 42:22SPEAKER_02: It's so cute, it's so cute.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: Kayla's like, she's gonna have blue eyes, dark hair, big butt, and boobs.
- 42:32SPEAKER_02: And my brother was like, I'm chaining her to the house.
- 42:35SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 42:37SPEAKER_00: Perfect dad reaction, right?
- 42:39SPEAKER_00: I was like, she's not even a week old yet, brother.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: Give her some time, calm down.
- 42:45SPEAKER_00: But also, I love that.
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: I do too.
- 42:47SPEAKER_00: I will too.
- 42:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's right.
- 42:50SPEAKER_00: And I will help because that's what I do.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: No, we'll just make sure the party's in our house so we can manage the situation.
- 42:57SPEAKER_00: Nobody's allowed.
- 42:59SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: How about that?
- 43:01SPEAKER_00: Nobody's allowed.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 43:04SPEAKER_00: So sorry, got into a rainbow.
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: All right, let's talk about the year this way.
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: If this year were were a book, what would some of the chapter titles be for you?
- 43:13SPEAKER_02: Oh man, I don't even remember January.
- 43:17SPEAKER_02: What happened in January, Jen?
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: Was I working?
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 43:22SPEAKER_02: I think I was unemployed in January.
- 43:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because you got your job for your birthday.
- 43:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:28SPEAKER_02: I was unemployed in January.
- 43:33SPEAKER_02: I was I think I was still gardening and landscaping for work because I got laid off.
- 43:38SPEAKER_02: And didn't I go on a trip or something?
- 43:43SPEAKER_02: I know you did this time last year.
- 43:45SPEAKER_02: I'm just gonna do it.
- 43:46SPEAKER_02: In October last year.
- 43:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:47SPEAKER_02: No, like January.
- 43:48SPEAKER_02: I'm thinking January.
- 43:50SPEAKER_02: If we're starting back in January.
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: That's a good question.
- 43:53SPEAKER_02: No, I didn't.
- 43:55SPEAKER_02: No, so January.
- 43:57SPEAKER_02: I think I was just landscaping gardening as much as I could, but I was just job hunting.
- 44:03SPEAKER_02: That's lame.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: But it was true.
- 44:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: The chapters should.
- 44:07SPEAKER_02: Job hunting.
- 44:08SPEAKER_02: And then job hunting.
- 44:10SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 44:11SPEAKER_02: Edit.
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: Chapter one.
- 44:14SPEAKER_02: Job hunting.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: Chapter two.
- 44:17SPEAKER_00: Take balls at Prince birthday.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: You're not wrong.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: No, I'm not.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: We just looked at the pictures again the other day.
- 44:25SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: Chapter two.
- 44:29SPEAKER_02: Big ol' mirror balls.
- 44:31SPEAKER_02: At Prince's birthday, which happened to be on the birthday.
- 44:34SPEAKER_02: Balls at her birthday.
- 44:35SPEAKER_00: Balls at the boathouse.
- 44:37SPEAKER_00: Balls at the boathouse.
- 44:38SPEAKER_00: That's a really good one.
- 44:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: Maybe we should redo this.
- 44:41SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 44:43SPEAKER_02: Chapter one.
- 44:45SPEAKER_02: Working side jobs and job hunting.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 44:48SPEAKER_02: Chapter two, February.
- 44:51SPEAKER_02: Big balls with Brent at the boathouse.
- 44:55SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 44:57SPEAKER_02: Chapter three.
- 44:59SPEAKER_02: Yay! Chapter Four, traveling a lot.
- 45:06SPEAKER_02: And pottying.
- 45:07SPEAKER_02: Pottying is in podcasting.
- 45:10SPEAKER_02: Chapter five?
- 45:12SPEAKER_02: Boyfriend?
- 45:13SPEAKER_02: Question?
- 45:14SPEAKER_02: Chapter six.
- 45:16SPEAKER_02: Definitely boyfriend.
- 45:19SPEAKER_02: Chapter seven.
- 45:21SPEAKER_02: Planning for the rest of the year with Jen.
- 45:25SPEAKER_02: I think, I don't know, those are my chapters, maybe.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: And then chapter eight.
- 45:28SPEAKER_02: I don't know what chapter we'd even be on now.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: If each month was a chapter, I couldn't keep wreck track.
- 45:33SPEAKER_02: But now we're definitely on new family member auntie mode and October mode.
- 45:40SPEAKER_02: So October mode has been super heavy with work for me and maintaining also the seasonal delight that is this podcast and that is my inner soul.
- 45:53SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I don't know that I've had anything crazy happen.
- 46:00SPEAKER_02: Oh wait, there's more.
- 46:03SPEAKER_02: I feel like I need to draw a map.
- 46:05SPEAKER_02: Can we redo this?
- 46:08SPEAKER_02: I'm leaving all this in.
- 46:09SPEAKER_02: Let's, yeah.
- 46:10SPEAKER_02: No.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: She's gonna draw us a picture.
- 46:15SPEAKER_02: No, I'm like, when did I lose my vehicle?
- 46:19SPEAKER_02: Because that was a whole chapter.
- 46:23SPEAKER_02: When did Jesus take my wheel?
- 46:26SPEAKER_00: Because it's me.
- 46:29SPEAKER_00: That probably was more like August.
- 46:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, because then mine happened in September.
- 46:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:39SPEAKER_02: They honestly, if we were to make a web of our lives, Jen.
- 46:43SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, because I also got laid off this year.
- 46:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:47SPEAKER_02: See, it's wild.
- 46:49SPEAKER_02: But the times work to where it works for each of us.
- 46:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, I got laid off so you can buy the wagon.
- 46:53SPEAKER_02: You got laid off, so I can buy the wine.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: There we go.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: It makes sense.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: In the car situation, we just make it through.
- 47:00SPEAKER_00: It's been a hell of a fucking year, guys.
- 47:03SPEAKER_00: We are no longer limping.
- 47:05SPEAKER_00: No, we shouldn't say that.
- 47:06SPEAKER_00: Knock on everything.
- 47:09SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 47:15SPEAKER_00: We should do this every year.
- 47:16SPEAKER_00: I think so too.
- 47:18SPEAKER_00: Like this makeup chapters for our years.
- 47:20SPEAKER_00: Each for each month?
- 47:21SPEAKER_00: That would be fun.
- 47:23SPEAKER_00: Meh.
- 47:24SPEAKER_00: January is meh.
- 47:26SPEAKER_00: February is meh to job.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but that's also the Brent ball party, too.
- 47:35SPEAKER_00: Oh, ball party.
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: At the bow house with Brent and your birthday.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: We keep changing the name of that chapter.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 47:43SPEAKER_00: How are we gonna edit this?
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: I'm not.
- 47:45SPEAKER_00: I have not editing this.
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: Okay, so they're working through this with us.
- 47:50SPEAKER_02: So then April was really when I started working my job and traveling.
- 47:53SPEAKER_02: I was in Oklahoma a lot.
- 47:55SPEAKER_02: Yay! Kind of boring.
- 47:57SPEAKER_02: But then back to May.
- 48:01unknown: Nothing.
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be May.
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be May.
- 48:05SPEAKER_00: June and July.
- 48:07SPEAKER_00: The end of May.
- 48:08SPEAKER_00: May is when we got on the main stage at Riverfest, bitches.
- 48:12SPEAKER_00: The end of May.
- 48:13SPEAKER_02: June and July.
- 48:15SPEAKER_02: I had some fun lake.
- 48:18SPEAKER_02: I had some fun lake days in these months.
- 48:21SPEAKER_02: August, I had some crazy stuff with work that was fun.
- 48:25SPEAKER_02: And then I boom crashed my car.
- 48:28SPEAKER_02: Not me.
- 48:29SPEAKER_02: Someone crashed into me.
- 48:30SPEAKER_02: September.
- 48:31SPEAKER_02: I couldn't go anywhere.
- 48:33SPEAKER_02: Flatline, but not really.
- 48:34SPEAKER_02: Oh, Gin Taxi Service was my September.
- 48:39SPEAKER_02: That was my September.
- 48:41SPEAKER_02: October.
- 48:44SPEAKER_02: New wheels.
- 48:45SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 48:46SPEAKER_02: And lots of traveling because I have to catch up on a lot of work stuff.
- 48:50SPEAKER_02: And also spooky season.
- 48:54SPEAKER_02: So that means that we were it, we are in heavy podcast mode because October, November, December, these are the heavy months that we live for.
- 49:04SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 49:05SPEAKER_02: So I'm sorry to take you on that adventure.
- 49:07SPEAKER_00: I'm not.
- 49:08SPEAKER_00: I think it's just a great thing to relive.
- 49:10SPEAKER_02: I think we should label every month as a chapter from now on next year.
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: I really I think we should do and then see what we're doing.
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: Individually and collectively.
- 49:19SPEAKER_00: Season three is gonna be wild guys.
- 49:21SPEAKER_00: That's kind of fun.
- 49:23SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 49:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, so now that we've worked through that.
- 49:30SPEAKER_00: Sorry, guys.
- 49:32SPEAKER_00: Is nostalgia comforting for you or does it sometimes ache a little bit?
- 49:37SPEAKER_00: I love this question.
- 49:38SPEAKER_00: Are you asked?
- 49:39SPEAKER_00: Do I have to answer first?
- 49:41SPEAKER_00: I can answer first.
- 49:42SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 49:43SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 49:44SPEAKER_00: So I'll be scrolling TikTok, and I don't know why this only happens at night, but when I'm scrolling TikTok at night, I get these 90s kid carousel posts that are like there's always a cassette tape or the polypocket.
- 50:01SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, is this a dream or an actual no, no, this is when I'm scrolling TikTok.
- 50:04SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, polypocket.
- 50:06SPEAKER_00: And it's always set to the same 90s sounding music that's just very background vibey 90s.
- 50:14SPEAKER_00: You're making me feel like it's haunted.
- 50:16SPEAKER_00: No, it's just it's so nostalgic.
- 50:18SPEAKER_00: The music is all I'll have to find one and show it to you after this.
- 50:21SPEAKER_00: It's so just you can like it, it makes me so sad I want to cry because I miss that time so much.
- 50:29SPEAKER_00: And just it's such a thing.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: Don't doubt it.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: I went down a rabbit hole because I don't know what happened to my polypockets, and I tried to find them on eBay and they're like$60.
- 50:40SPEAKER_02: I know, and they don't even have all the pieces, they're exploding our nostalgia, and it's not fair.
- 50:45SPEAKER_02: They used to keep early pulleys in there and make them my pits.
- 50:48SPEAKER_02: Oh, that is so cute.
- 50:49SPEAKER_02: Not really.
- 50:50SPEAKER_02: They died, they didn't have any food.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: They don't like plastic.
- 50:56SPEAKER_00: So that's a science lesson.
- 50:59SPEAKER_00: And I don't know, just the labels that old soda or candy bars used to have.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: Or even candy that doesn't exist anymore.
- 51:10SPEAKER_00: But wait, is that this time of year specifically?
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: No, it's like all the time.
- 51:13SPEAKER_00: It's throughout no, this is like all the time.
- 51:17SPEAKER_02: Doesn't make you feel yeah.
- 51:19SPEAKER_00: Well, how does it make you feel you think?
- 51:21SPEAKER_00: I to me, I for when I'm scrolling through those particular carousels, I'm I don't know.
- 51:28SPEAKER_00: It's an it's a feeling that I never thought that I would feel because I don't think that I've ever felt it before.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: But it's like a weird, it's a weird sadness and a weird longing.
- 51:38SPEAKER_02: I almost think it's a yearning for what's been lost.
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: And you just no matter what happens, you can't, it's not gonna come back.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, especially and if it did come back, it wouldn't be the same.
- 51:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we and because and it's different than a relationship with a living human sort of yearning sort of thing.
- 51:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 51:57SPEAKER_02: Because it's just a memory, you've no idea exactly why you have all these thoughts and feelings, and it's almost like your body goes back to where it was when it first saw that thing in real life, and then but you're placed in this strange place seeing that thing, and it doesn't make sense, so it almost makes it creepy to a certain degree.
- 52:24SPEAKER_02: It's not creepy, but that's actually the definition of creepy, is it not being real because it's sad that thing is not real anymore.
- 52:32SPEAKER_02: It is that makes sense, it's and that's why in creepy movies they put old shit in them, is because it makes you feel all the feelings, can yeah, it connects you.
- 52:43SPEAKER_00: This is a psychological situation, and or there'll be like a theme song that I literally have not heard in 30 years.
- 52:52SPEAKER_00: Oh boy, David the Gnome.
- 52:53SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you know what David the Gnome is, but no, that song it it was something that I no, you probably it was probably much before you because I thought you heard someone talk about it when I was a kid, it was probably me.
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: It was a big thing when I was a kid, apparently it was only out for one season, but I heard the theme song for the first time in 30 years on TikTok, and I still knew almost all the words to it, and I hadn't even I forgot the song existed, and then like when it started playing, I was like, hmm, I was like, Oh my god, oh my god, it's in there, it is crazy to me.
- 53:28SPEAKER_02: Early memories to your mind are so important, I think.
- 53:32SPEAKER_00: It's bizarre.
- 53:34SPEAKER_00: I think you should expand on that.
- 53:37SPEAKER_00: So then, no, and I do have a lot more to this because I'm honest in general in life, but yeah, go on now.
- 53:43SPEAKER_02: So I just meant in general find that show and watch it with me.
- 53:46SPEAKER_00: But oh my god, we should definitely watch replays of David the Gnome.
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: I would be down, but for this same thing, like anything early Disney or even early Winnie the Pooh.
- 53:56SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I remember watching Winnie the Poohnie the Pooh Winnie the Pooh in the mornings before going to kindergarten in the morning like 5 a.m.
- 54:06SPEAKER_00: Disney in the morning.
- 54:08SPEAKER_00: I would watch the Looney Tunes, the Looney Tunes ones.
- 54:12SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I loved the Looney Tunes and I love Tiny Tunes.
- 54:15SPEAKER_02: That's what it was tiny tunes when they were like babies, the diapers, they were tiny tunes, diapers, the tunies and all the little ladies.
- 54:23SPEAKER_02: Oh no, that is it! Now it's in my head.
- 54:27SPEAKER_02: Now, yeah, that's what we would watch.
- 54:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I love tiny tunes.
- 54:31SPEAKER_02: I liked tiny tunes a lot.
- 54:33SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 54:34SPEAKER_02: Eventually they came out with teen tunes.
- 54:36SPEAKER_02: Oh, I don't even know.
- 54:37SPEAKER_02: But I don't remember that.
- 54:39SPEAKER_02: I remember the visual, but I don't remember the song I think of it.
- 54:44SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 54:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, nostalgia, it can be comforting, but also it can be just so the yearning is so emotional in a weird way that I don't feel like this was something that I could have ever experienced had I been any younger.
- 55:02SPEAKER_00: I think it's as we grow older, the yearning only grows stronger because we're further from the original feeling.
- 55:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:07SPEAKER_02: So was the question is it sad or comforting?
- 55:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:11SPEAKER_02: Well, the thing is, I think sadness and comfort are looked at incorrectly.
- 55:17SPEAKER_02: That's an interesting point.
- 55:19SPEAKER_02: Just like anger, I have always said anger is misplaced sadness.
- 55:25SPEAKER_02: I also think that sadness is probably something misplaced as well.
- 55:32SPEAKER_02: And happiness can turn into sadness if it's misplaced or put in a weird spot where it's confused by all these other things.
- 55:41SPEAKER_02: I think it's a mixture, really.
- 55:43SPEAKER_02: And I don't think it's wrong to view one thing as all of the things.
- 55:46SPEAKER_02: Especially depending on your background.
- 55:48SPEAKER_02: If you're watching Louis Tunes when some crazy shit went down in your life.
- 55:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 55:53SPEAKER_02: You know, that's a whole different topic.
- 55:55SPEAKER_02: But but for me, I don't know.
- 55:58SPEAKER_02: I feel like it is both because when I'm like the season's changing, right?
- 56:07SPEAKER_02: Whenever it's getting colder at night or whatever, I don't know what it is, but when I go back into my bedroom at night and it's quiet, I'm at peace, and I like going in there and I like turning on my little lamps.
- 56:19SPEAKER_02: And I like letting my candle and taking my shower and getting in bed, and it's all cold, the sheets are all cold and stuff, and I can see and then turn on my little show and heat up my water for my tea.
- 56:30SPEAKER_02: But at the same time, there is a little part of me that's like, ugh, like, where's my person?
- 56:38SPEAKER_02: Or where's my snuggle buddy?
- 56:40SPEAKER_02: Or like, what am I missing?
- 56:42SPEAKER_02: Or what am I am I just feeling the things that I'm feeling?
- 56:46SPEAKER_02: And I think that comes with just like all of the thoughts in my head, all the memories and stuff.
- 56:53SPEAKER_00: I feel like there's also an expected togetherness in the season that we're in.
- 56:58SPEAKER_02: They call it cuffing season for a reason.
- 57:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:01SPEAKER_02: But I am no I'm single on my taxes, but I'm not single.
- 57:09SPEAKER_02: And so, but I still I enjoy being alone.
- 57:13SPEAKER_02: But I I but yet I am there is this like, but for me, it's not even just wanting to be with a person that I love, it's also just I fully love just spending time with you and like with Kayla and all my loved friends and family that I have close to me.
- 57:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that's very important in this time of year.
- 57:37SPEAKER_02: And back to what you said of it's important to check in.
- 57:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 57:41SPEAKER_02: On those that might not reach out to do that this time of year, that might not seem that accessible.
- 57:47SPEAKER_02: I think it is important to check in to those people because they might not know how to reach out because they feel a weirdness too, and they might not know how to reach out.
- 57:57SPEAKER_02: But I think it is important to make sure that everybody feels loved all the time, of course.
- 58:01SPEAKER_02: But I think that's probably what's gotten me to where I'm like, I'm cozy at night by myself because I just had a whole day with my best friend, or I just had a whole day with my sister-in-law slash best friend.
- 58:12SPEAKER_02: Or I've been very fortunate in that regard.
- 58:14SPEAKER_02: So I don't know.
- 58:15SPEAKER_02: I feel a sadness, coziness, but I just absorb it for what it is.
- 58:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's all you can do.
- 58:20SPEAKER_02: I just absorb it for what it is and appreciate it because I just some I just take note of it.
- 58:25SPEAKER_02: I just go, this is how I'm feeling, but I'm really cozy.
- 58:29SPEAKER_02: And then but I'm really cozy and I like this tea and I like this show, and oh, there's a dog.
- 58:37SPEAKER_02: So I don't know how to answer that.
- 58:40SPEAKER_00: I no, I think that's beautifully answered for sure.
- 58:44SPEAKER_02: Okay, so I guess wait, one more thing.
- 58:48SPEAKER_02: Okay, and you can edit out other things I've said.
- 58:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, ultimately, I think you need to put the right safety gates in place for any change of anything.
- 58:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 58:59SPEAKER_02: So that's so that you know you have no matter what you're feeling, that you know you have places to land and things that surround you with lovey fun times.
- 59:11SPEAKER_02: I think you're right.
- 59:12SPEAKER_02: Not everyone's that fortunate, so reach out those to those that aren't.
- 59:16SPEAKER_02: But yeah.
- 59:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 59:17SPEAKER_02: That wasn't that well worded, but I think we get the general idea for sure.
- 59:22SPEAKER_00: Edit.
- 59:22SPEAKER_00: Good job now.
- 59:24SPEAKER_00: We're powering through.
- 59:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, so again, we're we're in the sniver.
- 59:32SPEAKER_00: All right, so we're in the slow season, but once the holidays hit, it's go time.
- 59:37SPEAKER_00: How do you protect a little bit of this slower feeling as we get into that kind of season?
- 59:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, golly.
- 59:47SPEAKER_02: I guess I kind of touched on it.
- 59:50SPEAKER_02: I think the way I do it is honestly, I probably stay up an hour or two later than I should just to be alone with myself and watch a cozy show that I like and have a candle lit and some hot tea and water and a dog near me.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_02: That's that's honestly probably how I I protect my time, but I also give it away to the greater good.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_02: For gran honestly, that's probably how that's how I do it.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_02: Because that's if it's too busy of a day, that's all you can do.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, true.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_02: But protecting that time in other regards, I think, is if I know I need to spend time with Jen and I want to spend time with Jen, I'm gonna put it on the books and we're getting together regardless.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_02: Nothing else, or if you're talking about protecting time for calmness, I think it's a combination of those things.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_00: I think it's whatever brings you calm.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_02: Like there's a lot of people in the holiday seasons that will try to push you to their schedule.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_02: And if you do not want to, you have every right to say no.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_02: You have every right to be like, no, I just don't have it in me.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_02: I wouldn't I don't, I can't.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_02: Can we do this instead?
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_02: You could meet them halfway.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you can say let's plan something for this day, but I'm not into all that this day.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_02: Or this week.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_02: Or whatever it is.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, you gotta hold yourself protecting your time.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_00: Protect your time, protect your peace.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_00: Both of those things.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_00: I know for me, it's I've learned to build in buffer time because I have learned that I'm not as extroverted as I once thought I was.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_00: I am that introvert that needs to go home and recharge.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_00: And so in learning that about myself, I feel like I'm able to, because I know that I need that recharge time, those nights that I require to be at home, or even this weekend.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_00: Last week I had four of five days, were very long days.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_00: Four of the five days were very long days.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_00: I think we're talking 10 to 12 hour days, all four days.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_00: Surrounded by multiple people.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_00: And all people that I love.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_00: So don't get me wrong.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_00: But at the same time, like I said, I have to have that recharge time.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_00: And we're talking Wednesday to Thursday to Friday.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_00: I had hardly any recharge time except for Friday morning.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_00: I spent time washing my hair and watching cutesy TV shows.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_00: And it was off to Topeka for a really fun event with one of my brewing, which turned into a 12-hour day.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_00: It just happened to start later.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_00: And so Saturday and Sunday, though, for example, I spent Saturday and Sunday not getting out of my pajamas and barely leaving that couch except to go to the bathroom and eat.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_00: And that is it because I needed that recharge.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_00: I needed the rest.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_00: I slept until three in the afternoon on Saturday.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_02: You slept or you were like tossing turning.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_00: No, I slept in till three.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_00: No, okay.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_00: So I would wake up and go back to sleep and wake up and go back to sleep.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_00: Not tossing turning.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_00: I was perfectly fine.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_00: But wake up, have a conversation, go back to sleep.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_02: I stayed in bed until three.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_02: I think that that is what I'm hearing you say is that making the balance work.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_02: Well, especially right now, you guys have to keep in mind, Jen is going through a rebalance of all the clients that she has undertaken and all of the responsibilities.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_02: It's a recalibration.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_02: That's better work.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_02: Yes, it's a recalibration of everything.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_02: And also, there are certain times where there are these events.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_02: You have to activate and be on and be on time.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_02: And then you are allowed to deactivate for a little bit.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_02: The the beauty of it is that you have to find when you can deactivate and make time for that.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_00: Schedule in the buffer time, the rest time.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_00: Because if if you already know that you're that kind of person that needs it, you need to make sure that is baked into your calendar.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_00: It's baked into your daily, like and the people that love you will respect that because it's true.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_02: Even Jen and I have taught these conversations.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_02: I always want the invite.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_02: I always want the invite.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_02: But I say, and and half the time I end up twisting around and being like, okay, just kidding, I perked out of it.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_02: But then the other half, I'm like, or she was trying to say no, and she's like, oh, never mind.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_00: I'm definitely into it.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_00: We have those.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_00: It's about 50-50.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_00: We have those too.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_02: But then, and even sometimes we both are talking and we're both end up being like no.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_02: We're both not into it.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_02: We'll be like, This sounds really fun and great, but I've got this going on.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_02: She'll be like, Yeah, I have this going.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_02: And then we'll be like, Yeah, let's just not tonight.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_02: Let's just call it.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_02: And we've had several of those, especially lately.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_02: I think those are beautiful relationships.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_02: You also need to keep in mind.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_02: You do have people that are like pushing you and pushing you.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_02: Don't let them get the best of you, man.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_02: I know it's for the greater good in some regards, but yeah.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_02: You need to know your limits.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_02: And we all need sleep.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_00: I feel like that's a perfect way to end that.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_00: We definitely we all need sleep.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_00: We all need that rest because if we're gonna be our best selves around everybody that that's gonna require our attention and love and sharing, then we gotta let ourselves rest.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, so last segment of the show is Hits Different.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_00: And tonight's song is Tis the Damn Season.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_00: Tis the Damn Season from Taylor Swift's Evermore album.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_00: So, Rachel, this was your first time hearing Tis the Damn Season.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_00: It sure was, yes.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_00: All right, let's dive into your initial thoughts on the song.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_00: Could you start me off with a question so I can know how to properly start with it?
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_00: Okay, it fits the autumn pause perfectly with one foot in nostalgia and one foot in the life that you've built since.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_00: So how did any of that resonate with you while you were listening to that song?
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_00: Any of the were you thinking about this nostalgia or were I definitely got nostalgia.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_02: I think the tailor always hits some sort of nostalgia, but In every sort of tune she sings.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_02: I don't know how she does it.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_02: She also hits a different, and I know I always mention because she's always talking about a lover in the song.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_02: But also, I think her speak singing and writing about a lover is a great way to just analyze life in a whole.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_02: Now that I'm thinking about it, after so many songs that I've analyzed of hers, this is that is exactly what it is.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_02: You could look at any form being of life and describe it as a love that you're having, which is your life.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_02: If you were to describe the life that you have with yourself, you could describe it as a love.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_02: I'm thinking of that with her, and I'm like, she's but it's hard to do in this instance because she's oh going back to old ways sounds nice.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_02: There's a comfort.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_02: But again, I'm like, this is totally a coughing season song.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_02: But that's just like a brutal way to say it.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_02: I feel like I had more nice ways to word this when I was originally listening to it.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_02: But I feel as though it is just her totally reflecting on past times and saying, Oh, what used to be doesn't look so bad now?
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_02: Or what did she say?
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_02: She said something like that.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_02: She said something along those lines.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_02: And I was like, I get it, because that's what they do.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_02: Have you how many listeners out there have had an ex hit them up around the holidays?
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_02: It's true.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, it's so true.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry, but that's what I thought of.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_02: How many of you?
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_02: Yep, yeah.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_02: I'd be lying if I said I haven't, heard anyone say I haven't hit anyone up around the holidays.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_02: I'll be honest about that.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_02: I've been strong.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_02: But get a girl.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_02: I have had some hit me up, and I'm sure all of you have too.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_02: But that's what I thought of, is it is just her reflecting back on all of the past thoughts, and it sounds kind of like she's going back to her hometown, and like all of these feelings are going through her head with her family and what they thought of her and him, and stuff like that.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_02: But it also makes me think now that I have my new perspective on I don't think she's writing love songs every time, I think she's writing it to her own life and her own self if that makes sense.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, which I've always kind of known.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_02: So maybe she's writing this to herself.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_02: Going back to old ways doesn't sound so bad.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_02: I know, like because she's comfortable at home.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_00: And it I don't know.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_00: For me, so I I don't this is a song that I don't know a lot of the lore behind like I normally do, but this is a also a song that evoked that evoked memories for me.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_00: So I feel like it's always one or the other or both.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_00: So this song, when I the first time that I heard this song, it took me back to and I hate talk about this person on the podcast a lot because he was a big part of my history.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_00: And and it's we don't have to, we can go up something else.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_00: No, it's okay.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_00: This it's fine because it's the reality.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_00: George! There's no such person.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_00: So of the jungle?
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_00: No, just okay.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_00: This did happen when I was in college after my college boyfriend and I the we were together for the first two years of college, and then the last few years, two two-ish years of college, we were not together, but it was still a thing.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_00: You go home to those comforts and the the things that you want to be normal.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_02: Like school, you're going, I'm staying, sort of situation.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_02: I just never went away to college, so I didn't get that.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_00: It's a it's yeah, I yeah, that it's like a moving, you go away, but then you're coming home to but you're so young at that age, too.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_02: It's like you're going so far away, even though you're gonna come back for school like crazy.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_00: It's also like you're come okay, so you've been gone and you come back, and when you come back, everyone's like, oh, I need to spend time with you.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, I need this out of you, oh, I need this out of you.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_00: But then there's the one person that you're like, hey, let's just chill and have a good time, or whatever that is.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_00: Hey, you're my this time of year person, you're my I'm home for the holidays, and you're that escape thing.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_00: Friend for benefit.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_00: You are definitely my my friendscape, yeah.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_00: My friend's yeah, whatever that is, like you are tissed season for me to be hanging with you again, and it's not a bad thing, it's and unless you're not supposed to be hanging with that person because you got somebody else, but like it can be a lot of things.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_00: But for me, I totally related to that because going home was overwhelming, but then having that person that I could escape with.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_00: That makes sense.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_02: That's fun, and especially at a young age, too.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_02: Like, that's your time to have that escape.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, hey, we're both in town.
- 1:11:13SPEAKER_00: We're both in town, you trust each other.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_00: You want to go park and look at stars and like whatever get into whatever tomfoolery we're gonna exactly, just whatever I trust you, you trust me.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_02: That's like a movie, Jin.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, I wish I had to be.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_00: No, there are so many movies that are also about this.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_00: I wish I had that.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_00: I never have had that.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_00: I don't know because it's a blessing and a curse, honestly.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_02: Mine only lasts one season and then they're just done.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_02: I don't re-re-repeat.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_00: I guess now for me.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_00: Your neighbor was the closest one I had.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_00: Oh god.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_00: For me though, now, like when I go back to He doesn't live there anymore.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_00: He doesn't, he's gone, he's bye-bye.
- 1:11:51SPEAKER_00: When I go back to my hometown now, though, because I'm with Tim, and Tim is also from my hometown.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_00: That's cute.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_00: I just so happen to be married to the guy.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_00: Sweetie.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_00: And my mom always puts us up in a hotel.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_00: So we still we like literally we go to our hometown, we hang out with my family and do the whole thing, but we still have our escape.
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_00: So I still get that, and I conveniently get that with my now husband.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_00: That makes so much sense.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_00: Yes, I like that, I like that a lot.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_02: I do love how that ended up.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_02: I feel like I like that also.
- 1:12:26SPEAKER_02: I think it relates to not even just the season, but even just any moment in time that you have with somebody that is your escape.
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_02: There are so many stories I've heard of other couples, even if it's situationships, they don't last that long, but aren't like traumatic or anything.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_02: But they just this person and this person really they were available and they were free and they got along really well, and they had a great time spending time with each other during a certain time frame, and that's amazing and beautiful, and they should like that song kind of encapsulates that like your mindscape in this time is changing and stuff.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_02: I like that.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_02: I think that's important, and I think that more people should be more like hopeful about that and just realize that when that happens.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_02: I think so too.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_02: So they don't get so and I feel like they should be in older ages.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_02: I understand now, like I don't want that shit.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_00: I want something real, but earlier on, just be honest about it, just be like just yeah, that's exactly just be honest about it and be honest with yourself about it.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_00: And if it's something that you don't feel bad for needing that or wanting that, because yeah, like Rachel said, they make movies about that.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it is that normal.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_00: So allow yourself to just you know, if that's what you gotta do and you want to enjoy it, do it.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_00: Not a big deal, yeah.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_00: It's cool, it's fine.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_00: Taylor Swift wrote a song about it, all right?
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_00: So it's fine.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_00: She's probably written 50 about it.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_00: It's pretty cool.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_00: But here we are.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_02: You could even interpret that song between us.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you look at her and go, spending so much time together.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_02: I'm coming.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_02: I come home with your family.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_00: Oh, the year that we said the Pledge of Allegiance for the Thanksgiving prayer.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_00: I think my mom got lost her goddamn mind.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_02: She was like, There's this random girl here from next door at Thanksgiving, her son singing a Pledge of Allegiance for Thanksgiving dinner prayer.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_02: What is going on in this house?
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_00: The boys were standing on the chairs and wish I would have taken a video of that.
- 1:14:38SPEAKER_00: It was amazing.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_00: We like Christmas.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_02: Was I there for that when they stood on the tables?
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_00: I feel like I feel like you I don't think I don't know.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_00: They were on stool.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_00: So the chairs.
- 1:14:47SPEAKER_02: I think they've done this a couple years.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_00: Maybe I don't the first time it yeah, no.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_00: I was definitely there for one of them.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that was the time.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, that was the time.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_00: Oh, those little babies.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_00: That would have been a perfect video.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_00: One for the weddings for sure.
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_00: Again, why we have to print photos.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_00: Print photos, take videos, do what you gotta do, put it on CDs, DVDs, yes, whatever.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_00: YouTube.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_00: My god, this has been an incredible and nostalgic episode.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_00: We really dove into the feels today.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_02: I think we should have, and I'm glad we did, and I am apologizing for any editing that is not going to be done or is going to be done, but you guys are just going to watch our lovely Rambles because.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, I'm not doing a whole lot of editing.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_02: I I don't know how to think through my whole year.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_02: It's October.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_02: That's been 10 months of jamboery that I have to frickin' fiddle through.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_02: I'm not about to do that.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_02: You fiddled well.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 1:15:49SPEAKER_00: I tried, didn'tb it.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, so we can't have wonderful podcasts like this without wonderful sponsors.
