- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome back, my friend. So good to see you.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Great to see you in your red, white, and blue
- 0:06Speaker 2: shirt today. You're patriotic. I love that. I love the
- 0:09Speaker 2: spiritual aspect of this important day. It's been quite a week. Yesterday, we,
- 0:14Speaker 2: of course, celebrated and paid tribute to the life of
- 0:17Speaker 2: Charlie Kirk, our colleague who was killed one year ago yesterday. Today,
- 0:22Speaker 2: we honor the nearly 3,000 Americans who were killed. The
- 0:26Speaker 2: stories of bravery and heroism continue to... Just abound, and
- 0:31Speaker 2: it's just great to be back with you on this
- 0:33Speaker 2: significant day. It's been quite a week. I mean, it
- 0:35Speaker 2: feels like a month since we've been together. It's strange.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Yeah, you were gone for a bit. I was gone
- 0:39Speaker 1: for a bit. Such is the case. This is kind
- 0:42Speaker 1: of the way fall is going to go a little bit,
- 0:43Speaker 1: so let's cherish these days that we're actually together.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, well, and now we're going to settle in,
- 0:48Speaker 2: I think, for a pretty good stretch. But I've had
- 0:50Speaker 2: a— and just on a personal, quick personal note, I have
- 0:52Speaker 2: had a— massive week. I moved yesterday and moving is brutal.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Although I've had a wonderful... Even with the concierge people?
- 1:03Speaker 2: The concierge people have been great. The movers, the organizers
- 1:06Speaker 2: have been incredible. Shout out to these one Allie and
- 1:10Speaker 2: Kathy and Vanya and Kirsten. They've been great in They pack,
- 1:14Speaker 2: they unpack, and they put everything up. And as we
- 1:16Speaker 2: speak right now, by the time I get through with
- 1:18Speaker 2: the show today, I should go home to a brand-new
- 1:21Speaker 2: home with everything, and I won't be able to find anything.
- 1:23Speaker 1: There is that.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's okay. I'm all right with that. But
- 1:27Speaker 2: here's what– and they also brought in the movers. The
- 1:30Speaker 2: moving company is tremendous, right? Like five guys. And high-rise
- 1:35Speaker 2: apartment moving is tricky because it's the elevator and all
- 1:39Speaker 2: that stuff. They dropped my 83-inch, $ 3, 500 big-screen TV. Now,
- 1:47Speaker 2: this thing is like the centerpiece of my life, you know,
- 1:50Speaker 2: because I don't have a life, so I watch a
- 1:51Speaker 2: lot of TV.
- 1:52Speaker 1: There you are.
- 1:53Speaker 2: And they dropped it, and it wouldn't come back on.
- 1:55Speaker 2: He said, I kept trying to power it on. Well,
- 1:58Speaker 2: you dropped those high-tech, thin, thin big-screen TVs. They don't
- 2:02Speaker 2: repair those suckers. No.
- 2:04Speaker 1: It's gone. It's gone. It's gone. I mean, it's.
- 2:06Speaker 2: $ 3, 500. He said, well, I'm going to have to go
- 2:10Speaker 2: through my insurance company. It may take a while.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, no, no. Well, wait, no, no, no, no.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Why do I?
- 2:16Speaker 2: How long am I going to have to wait for
- 2:17Speaker 2: him to deal with his insurance company?
- 2:19Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Sorry, Charlie. Well, and I was nice about it, but
- 2:23Speaker 2: I'm like, do you know what he did? He called
- 2:25Speaker 2: and he kind of pushed back yesterday. He said, oh,
- 2:28Speaker 2: I've got to go through the process. I'm like, process, process.
- 2:31Speaker 2: This is going to take eight o'clock last night.
- 2:33Speaker 1: He calls me.
- 2:33Speaker 2: He said, Mike, I've been thinking about it. You've been
- 2:36Speaker 2: a great client. You've been generous. And I tipped all
- 2:38Speaker 2: the movers, of course, like I always do. He said,
- 2:41Speaker 2: just take the cost of the TV off the price
- 2:43Speaker 2: of the move.
- 2:44Speaker 1: There you go.
- 2:46Speaker 2: But what a happy ending. And what an act of integrity.
- 2:50Speaker 2: And by the way, so shout out to Tampa Bay's
- 2:53Speaker 2: Integrity Movers. Those guys are fantastic. Living up to the name.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Living up to it. Because that was the right thing
- 2:59Speaker 2: to do.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Of course.
- 3:00Speaker 2: But I get he didn't want to eat that either.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I felt so bad for them. Sorry.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Well, yeah, it is Mike. But accidents happen.
- 3:08Speaker 2: So I know. I know. So that happened. That was
- 3:11Speaker 2: a happy ending last night. I'm really grateful. And again,
- 3:13Speaker 2: a big, big plug. Unsolicited endorsement.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Integrity. They are great.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I mean, they are quick and they're very efficient and
- 3:22Speaker 2: they're very high end or high class. integrity movers of St.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Pete and Tampa Bay. So God bless Dan and his great,
- 3:29Speaker 2: great crew. I also got a ticket in the mail.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Did you see that story real quick? I did.
- 3:34Speaker 1: And yeah, you loving those flock cameras now?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Flock camera, baby. I mean, and people say, well, they're
- 3:41Speaker 2: not exactly flock. Yeah, they're integrated with the flock system,
- 3:45Speaker 2: the license plate reader. I get a ticket in the mail,
- 3:48Speaker 2: said I went 32 in a 20 mile per hour
- 3:52Speaker 2: school zone. Yeah.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Which is very bad.
- 3:55Speaker 2: I know. That's bad. I admit that's terrible. $ 100. Won't
- 3:59Speaker 2: go on your record. It won't count against your insurance
- 4:02Speaker 2: because it's a third-party like reader, like a camera reader.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And therein lies the talk show when we were doing
- 4:11Speaker 1: red light cameras that everybody hated. There's this pesky thing,
- 4:15Speaker 1: and I don't even know if this really applies, but
- 4:16Speaker 1: there's this pesky thing in all of American jurisprudence about
- 4:19Speaker 1: being able to face your accuser Know what I mean?
- 4:24Speaker 2: No accuser in the mail.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I mean, I got it in the mail, and I.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Looked it up, and I chat GPT'd it, and it's legit,
- 4:30Speaker 2: but it's a third. But here's my point. DeSantis, I
- 4:33Speaker 2: love the guy. Great governor. Talks a good game. Oh,
- 4:36Speaker 2: I don't like the flood. You like that revenue coming in.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Guarantee you that money, because I wrote the check, and
- 4:42Speaker 2: I went online, and I paid the $ 100. I figured
- 4:45Speaker 2: the heck with it. I'm not going to. And I
- 4:46Speaker 2: probably was. I got a little bit of a lead foot,
- 4:48Speaker 2: I admit. And shame on me. I mean, 32 in
- 4:51Speaker 2: a school zone. That's terrible. I mean, I mean, but
- 4:54Speaker 2: there was my car and there was my license plate.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I'm surprised they didn't have me sitting there smiling. I
- 4:59Speaker 2: was going to say smiling with a beer held out
- 5:02Speaker 2: the window smoking a cigar. Woo-hoo!
- 5:04Speaker 1: Here we go. Look out, kids. I'm coming through. I
- 5:07Speaker 1: don't care.
- 5:09Speaker 2: But a very interesting thing because, again, they want to talk.
- 5:13Speaker 2: These things are effective. I didn't know they could measure speed.
- 5:16Speaker 2: How do they know what your speed is?
- 5:18Speaker 1: Well, it knows where you are at this square foot
- 5:21Speaker 1: of road. It then knows where you are at that
- 5:24Speaker 1: square foot of road. And if you get from A
- 5:27Speaker 1: to B in a too short amount of time, you're speeding, Bubba. Exactly.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Meanwhile, I was also, before we get to 9-11, of course,
- 5:35Speaker 2: we're going to spend time on that as well. And
- 5:38Speaker 2: I love the way you talk about our two very
- 5:40Speaker 2: different experiences that fateful day 25 years ago today. You
- 5:46Speaker 2: stranded and me in the Empire State Building being evacuated.
- 5:49Speaker 2: So we've got a couple of crazy, crazy stories to share.
- 5:53Speaker 2: But I loved seeing your reports and your clips on
- 5:57Speaker 2: X and From the big midterm convention. Which we have
- 6:02Speaker 2: not spoken one word about. I'm in the building. I'm
- 6:05Speaker 2: in the belly of this thing. You're watching it with
- 6:09Speaker 2: a conservative eye, wanting it to go well, but with
- 6:12Speaker 2: a critical eye, a fair– calling balls and strikes. How
- 6:17Speaker 2: did it strike you? It was a home run. It
- 6:20Speaker 2: was a grand slam. I mean, it was everything you
- 6:22Speaker 2: wanted it to be. I mean– Trump was amazing. Trump
- 6:25Speaker 2: does what he does. He went along.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Hour 45 on the first night.
- 6:29Speaker 2: And I watched every minute of his speech. I loved it.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I thought he was fantastic.
- 6:34Speaker 1: He's funny.
- 6:35Speaker 2: You know, he's got this formula where he's reading the
- 6:37Speaker 2: speech off the teleprompter, but then he veers off. And
- 6:40Speaker 2: then he starts ad-libbing and he riffs. And then he
- 6:42Speaker 2: goes back to the teleprompter for just a little bit.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Then he riffs a little bit. I mean, it's kind
- 6:47Speaker 2: of wild how he goes back and forth. But look,
- 6:50Speaker 2: I'm not a big fan of fiscal irresponsibility. But in
- 6:53Speaker 2: this era of entitlement, hey, offer everybody $ 5, 000 to go
- 6:57Speaker 2: vote for Democrats.
- 6:58Speaker 1: You read my mind. I love it. I love that.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Why not? I mean, the way people are. The reason
- 7:07Speaker 1: we ain't. A, we ain't got the money. Two, it
- 7:09Speaker 1: might be inflationary. We got the money. I'm playing devil's
- 7:13Speaker 1: advocate because I don't know where I am. Can I
- 7:16Speaker 1: see the logic?
- 7:17Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Is there a way in which I love it? Absolutely.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Are the critics correct? Of course they are.
- 7:22Speaker 2: They are, sure.
- 7:23Speaker 1: If we got a trillion dollars lying around, I think
- 7:25Speaker 1: there's some stuff we can do. And by the way,
- 7:27Speaker 1: and I don't even think I mean pay down the debt.
- 7:29Speaker 1: The debt is a promise made to a computer. When
- 7:31Speaker 1: has the debt ever hurt one day that you and
- 7:33Speaker 1: I have lived? And I don't mean to be flippant
- 7:35Speaker 1: about the debt. We shouldn't have it. But maybe a
- 7:38Speaker 1: tax refund or something, I mean, maybe that's what the
- 7:40Speaker 1: shape this ought to take. I'm fascinated by that.
- 7:43Speaker 2: You want to talk about a real way to give
- 7:46Speaker 2: an economic stimulus to every American. And Trump's point is,
- 7:50Speaker 2: we got the money. You know how many more trillions
- 7:52Speaker 2: of dollars we're getting because of tariffs?
- 7:54Speaker 1: Tariffs. There we go.
- 7:57Speaker 2: That's the beauty of the tariff formula. But, you know,
- 8:00Speaker 2: there are going to be people who don't pay that
- 8:02Speaker 2: much attention to what's going on day to day the
- 8:04Speaker 2: way you and I do. And they're going to say, oh,
- 8:06Speaker 2: I got to pull the lever for a Republican. I'm
- 8:08Speaker 2: going to get five grand. Where do I sign? That's
- 8:11Speaker 2: a lot of money.
- 8:12Speaker 1: All right. So 60 seconds of just I can hear
- 8:14Speaker 1: people go, hey, talk show boys, how is that not
- 8:17Speaker 1: vote buying? How is that not a bribe? There is
- 8:20Speaker 1: an answer. I don't care. Look, I don't care.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I got Tallarico in Texas crediting Islam as an inspiration
- 8:29Speaker 2: for his Christian faith. So you know something, Mark? It's
- 8:33Speaker 2: all on the table. We got to bribe. We got
- 8:36Speaker 2: to vote by. Do what you got to do.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Do what you got. We got to win this thing
- 8:40Speaker 2: in November. There is an answer.
- 8:42Speaker 1: 30 seconds. There is an answer to that. It's called
- 8:44Speaker 1: It's Out of the Open. It's not secret. It's not
- 8:46Speaker 1: some smoky backroom. And by the way, we're being bribed,
- 8:49Speaker 1: if we are, with our own money. It's giving our
- 8:52Speaker 1: own money back. Thank you.
- 8:53Speaker 2: It's our money. But it's going to be a game
- 8:57Speaker 2: changer for a lot of people. All kidding aside, you
- 9:00Speaker 2: got somebody struggling to make ends meet and you get
- 9:02Speaker 2: a $ 5, 000 check from the government.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Why not?
- 9:06Speaker 2: And you know what? That's Trump's attitude is let's give
- 9:09Speaker 2: the people an opportunity.
- 9:11Speaker 1: It's a dividend. You are a partner in our success.
- 9:15Speaker 2: By the way, let's get it right. It's a Trump dividend.
- 9:19Speaker 2: It's not just any old dividend.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Of course it is. I hope the check has his
- 9:24Speaker 1: picture on it. All right.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Let's get serious for two minutes here as we say
- 9:30Speaker 2: together and you and I on the podcast today.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Everybody join us. We're going to take all the time
- 9:35Speaker 1: and walk through this. I want to hear your story.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'll tell mine. And we will have both done talk
- 9:40Speaker 1: shows by then. I've still lies ahead for both of us.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I can't wait to talk with this audience and you
- 9:47Speaker 1: with yours and just sort of see where everybody's head
- 9:50Speaker 1: is at, so to speak, on this 25th anniversary day.
- 9:53Speaker 2: And right now, watching the monitors from feeds from New
- 9:56Speaker 2: York City, thousands of people gathering in lower Manhattan. There's
- 10:00Speaker 2: former President Bill Clinton. There's former President Barack Obama. There's Biden.
- 10:06Speaker 2: There's George Bush. There's J.D. Vance. Trump is going to
- 10:09Speaker 2: be at the Pentagon. A little bit of controversy about that.
- 10:12Speaker 2: They don't want Zoran Mamdani there. The families don't. But,
- 10:16Speaker 2: you know, he's the mayor of New York City. Kind
- 10:17Speaker 2: of hard to get around that.
- 10:18Speaker 1: There's no way around that.
- 10:20Speaker 2: No way around that. And, you know, just a quick–
- 10:22Speaker 2: I was thinking driving into work today. When you're a
- 10:25Speaker 2: kid growing up in the Midwest and you want to
- 10:26Speaker 2: be a broadcaster, you dream of getting a job in
- 10:28Speaker 2: New York City. And getting the job in New York
- 10:31Speaker 2: City at WABC was a dream come true for me.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Working in the Empire State Building was a fantasy. I
- 10:37Speaker 2: would have never thought that could have happened. It breaks
- 10:40Speaker 2: my heart that that morning in the Empire State Building
- 10:43Speaker 2: is indelibly etched in my brain and my heart and
- 10:47Speaker 2: my soul for the rest of my life. When I
- 10:48Speaker 2: think of my time in New York, and look, I'm
- 10:50Speaker 2: a proud Floridian. I love it now. But when I
- 10:53Speaker 2: think of living and working in New York, I can't
- 10:56Speaker 2: ever take that day away, the day that the alarms
- 10:59Speaker 2: went off. I gave an interview yesterday to our friends
- 11:03Speaker 2: in Los Angeles. And they were amazed. You know, and
- 11:08Speaker 2: Eric will remember this. How good is the security infrastructure
- 11:12Speaker 2: in New York City that the powers that be for
- 11:15Speaker 2: the Empire State Building, they put the alarm out to
- 11:19Speaker 2: evacuate the building after the first plane hit. In other words,
- 11:23Speaker 2: the idea that we thought it was just a Cessna
- 11:26Speaker 2: and there was some kind of– and we did. We
- 11:27Speaker 2: kind of thought it was a small plane. Couldn't figure–
- 11:30Speaker 2: couldn't envision a commercial jetliner. No, but the Empire State
- 11:35Speaker 2: Building knew something was terribly wrong, and they tried to evacuate.
- 11:39Speaker 2: They evacuated the building after the first plane hit the
- 11:42Speaker 2: first tower. I thought that was notable. I've just got
- 11:45Speaker 2: a lot of those folks, all of those families in
- 11:47Speaker 2: my heart today. And, Mark, it had to kill you.
- 11:50Speaker 2: You were stranded out of the country trying to get
- 11:53Speaker 2: back to the United States of America.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Lisa and I are enjoying the Yucatan Peninsula at Playa
- 11:58Speaker 1: del Carmen, which is great and beautiful. But then we
- 12:00Speaker 1: couldn't get back. I had family members, loved ones, friends,
- 12:05Speaker 1: a country I love to get back to. And also
- 12:09Speaker 1: a kind of an important job, one would think. And
- 12:12Speaker 1: so podcast today, I want to talk about what your
- 12:14Speaker 1: first show was like coming back, what my first show
- 12:17Speaker 1: is coming back somewhat later. And speaking of time, to
- 12:20Speaker 1: wrap up today, you're sitting there talking about the first
- 12:22Speaker 1: plane hitting. And listen, as you're replaying this on your
- 12:26Speaker 1: national show and people are seeing this on YouTube, as
- 12:29Speaker 1: you and I are speaking right now, it's 7.49 in
- 12:32Speaker 1: the morning Central Time, 8.49 Eastern Time. Three minutes ago,
- 12:36Speaker 1: three minutes ago at 846 Eastern, 746 Central. That is
- 12:40Speaker 1: when Flight 11 crashed into the World Trade Center's North
- 12:43Speaker 1: Tower and when all of this began. We will never
- 12:46Speaker 1: forget and we'll do a lot of remembering today. And
- 12:49Speaker 1: it is constructive and right that we do so.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Absolutely. And let's remember the power of prayer. I hope
- 12:54Speaker 2: you have a chance to check out a great piece
- 12:56Speaker 2: by Ferguson over at the Free Press. 9-11 did not
- 13:00Speaker 2: doom the American empire. They didn't beat us. They didn't
- 13:03Speaker 2: stop us. We are still the world's superpower with all
- 13:07Speaker 2: the drama and all the angst and all the fighting.
- 13:11Speaker 2: We are still number one in the world. Never forget it.
- 13:15Speaker 2: American exceptionalism has not wavered, and we are still here.
- 13:19Speaker 2: So we are still, and I am so honored and
- 13:23Speaker 2: blessed to be able to get through these kind of
- 13:25Speaker 2: times with you, Mark. And now with this podcast, which
- 13:28Speaker 2: has really taken off, so I hope everybody goes, finds
- 13:31Speaker 2: us at YouTube, noon Eastern, 11 Central, Eminem Extra on YouTube.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Feel free to subscribe, like, follow, wherever you get your podcasts,
- 13:39Speaker 2: because you and I are just having such a great
- 13:41Speaker 2: time together, and especially on an important day like this.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I love you, and it's just great to be back
- 13:47Speaker 2: with you here on a Friday.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Love you right back. Can't wait to hear your radio
- 13:49Speaker 1: show and to be with you on the podcast. That's
- 13:51Speaker 1: our friend Mike Gallagher with Quite the Story to Tell.
