- 0:00Speaker 1: The Elvis version of Blue Christmas Is. That's probably my
- 0:04Speaker 1: favorite Elvis Christmas song, either that or Santa Bring My
- 0:07Speaker 1: Baby Back to Me which is which is a good
- 0:09Speaker 1: one too. But that's a classic cent To Bowl update
- 0:13Speaker 1: for you. They are late in the third quarter. The
- 0:16Speaker 1: famous Idaho Potato Bowl in northern Illinois and Fresno State
- 0:20Speaker 1: are tied at thirteen in that one earlier today utsa
- 0:23Speaker 1: one and one big one handling forty four to fifteen
- 0:28Speaker 1: of our Coastal Carolina on Coastal's home field in the
- 0:30Speaker 1: Myrtle Beach Bowl. So they did win that contest. On
- 0:35Speaker 1: our text line where you can always text the program
- 0:37Speaker 1: for absolutely free. All you have to do is text
- 0:41Speaker 1: the word Texas followed by your question or comment to
- 0:45Speaker 1: eight one five three zero. Standard messaging and data rates
- 0:48Speaker 1: may apply. We had a couple of a couple of
- 0:54Speaker 1: well CBS says, don't forget the Christmas classic, dominate the
- 0:57Speaker 1: Italiate Christmas Donkey. I've heard that probably won't make the
- 1:03Speaker 1: playlist this afternoon. I'm just saying it probably won't. And
- 1:07Speaker 1: then Cebee also said, when I was talking about the
- 1:09Speaker 1: Peach Bowl and Texas playing Arizona State, he said, you know,
- 1:14Speaker 1: Chris Jesse should be an honorary captain for the Peach Bowl.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Let me tell you something, and what he's referring to
- 1:22Speaker 1: is the only other time that Texas has played Arizona
- 1:25Speaker 1: State and football, and it was the Holiday Bowl in
- 1:28Speaker 1: two thousand and seven and the Longhorns had an up
- 1:32Speaker 1: and down season that they still ended up winning ten games.
- 1:36Speaker 1: But our friend Brod Babers said that he always remember
- 1:39Speaker 1: Mac Brown saying that was a team he did not like.
- 1:42Speaker 1: He didn't like to collect a personality and approach to
- 1:45Speaker 1: those guys, and they had to kind of get their
- 1:47Speaker 1: act together. And of course they lost a game over
- 1:50Speaker 1: in the College Station to Texas A and M, which
- 1:52Speaker 1: I think proved to be Dennis Franchooni's final game at
- 1:55Speaker 1: A and M.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And it just it had a weird vibe to it
- 1:59Speaker 2: that you.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Remember they almost lost early in the year the Central
- 2:02Speaker 1: Florida they played UCF at the christening the opening of
- 2:05Speaker 1: the brand new stadium, and they had a game interruption
- 2:08Speaker 1: for a mid afternoon thunderstorm, and when they came back,
- 2:10Speaker 1: it was like a sauna and the guys barely survived
- 2:13Speaker 1: and won like thirty five thirty two, so it wasn't
- 2:15Speaker 1: but if it ended on a good note, they beat
- 2:19Speaker 1: Arizona State and beat them handily in the bowl game,
- 2:24Speaker 1: and I think it was like fifty two to thirty
- 2:28Speaker 1: five or something like that. But anyway, they beat him
- 2:30Speaker 1: in the bowl game fifty two twenty seven, I believe.
- 2:33Speaker 1: And there was a moment in the first half where
- 2:37Speaker 1: there was a ball that bounced over to the sidelines,
- 2:42Speaker 1: a live ball, like a wolf of a fumble, and
- 2:46Speaker 1: you see the guy who was Mac Brown's step son,
- 2:51Speaker 1: Sally's son, Chris Jesse, who was over there on the sidelines,
- 2:55Speaker 1: and he reached out almost as if he was going
- 2:59Speaker 1: to touch the football and it missed him.
- 3:02Speaker 2: The other guy and this is the one that really it.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Was just kind of a reactive thing that had happened
- 3:06Speaker 1: for Chris, young guy at the time.
- 3:09Speaker 2: But Cleve Bryant was the operations.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Guy and he did the same thing and it went
- 3:14Speaker 1: over there and it was kind of swiping at the ball.
- 3:16Speaker 2: It was. It was a bizarre night in in UH.
- 3:19Speaker 1: What I said was, and I've said this before, is
- 3:21Speaker 1: one of the worst stadiums ever to UH to have football,
- 3:25Speaker 1: and let alone a bowl game in Uh was the
- 3:28Speaker 1: old Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, and it was just
- 3:30Speaker 1: kind of dank and cold and messy and you know,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and and not real good. So uh, but Texas did
- 3:38Speaker 1: win that Bowl game, so we'll see, you know, we'll
- 3:41Speaker 1: see how it goes from there.
- 3:42Speaker 2: All right.
- 3:43Speaker 1: NFL notes here before we get to the top of
- 3:45Speaker 1: the hour, Not only did the Cowboys win last night, uh,
- 3:50Speaker 1: and of course they're they're now just one game above
- 3:53Speaker 1: five or they could actually wind up with a winning
- 3:55Speaker 1: record in nine and eight. Now that obviously me nothing
- 4:00Speaker 1: in terms of trying to make the playoffs and coming
- 4:02Speaker 1: up short and all that other kind of stuff, but
- 4:05Speaker 1: you should probably be fore warned and forearmed on this.
- 4:09Speaker 1: If the Cowboys win their last two, Now, the next
- 4:12Speaker 1: week's gonna be difficult, this coming when they play the Eagles,
- 4:15Speaker 1: but then they play the Commanders, but the last game
- 4:18Speaker 1: of the year, and they play them at home. If
- 4:24Speaker 1: if if they wind up winning those two games, they're
- 4:28Speaker 1: gonna be nine and eight.
- 4:29Speaker 2: They're gonna finish nine and eight.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I'm just saying, don't be surprised if Jerry Jones brings
- 4:36Speaker 1: Mike McCarthy back as head coach. It seemed to be
- 4:39Speaker 1: a foregone conclusion when they were losing that he was
- 4:43Speaker 1: not going to do that. But now, well I just
- 4:48Speaker 1: have to wait and see. Off of that, NFC number
- 4:52Speaker 1: one seed is really thrown into a hectic situation. What
- 4:57Speaker 1: with the Eagles loss. You have Lions and the Vikings
- 5:01Speaker 1: are coming on like gangbusters right now. I mean they
- 5:05Speaker 1: really are coming on strong. And the Packers won again
- 5:08Speaker 1: as well, so we know some really tough wildcard teams
- 5:11Speaker 1: are gonna come out of there. In the NFC West,
- 5:12Speaker 1: the Rams can win the division if they win one
- 5:15Speaker 1: of their last two games. What was Seattle's loss yesterday,
- 5:19Speaker 1: so we'll follow that. And then in the AFC, we
- 5:22Speaker 1: know that the Steelers and the Ravens are still fighting
- 5:29Speaker 1: for the top spot. In the NFC North Kansas City
- 5:31Speaker 1: is the best record overall, and the wildcard race still
- 5:34Speaker 1: continues right now, although there's almost some separation blow with
- 5:38Speaker 1: the Chargers and Broncos, you know, ahead of teams that
- 5:43Speaker 1: still have a mathematical shot like the Colts and the Dolphins.
- 5:46Speaker 1: All right, we have one more hour of the show
- 5:48Speaker 1: to go. We're gonna hear more from Steve Sarkisian and
- 5:53Speaker 1: also from Kenny Dillingham and in case you missed that
- 5:55Speaker 1: highlight mon Tige that Cameron Parker flew ridden in all
- 6:01Speaker 1: managed to put together for us. That's coming up next
- 6:03Speaker 1: here on Sports Radio AUM thirteen Under the Zone.
