  Yeah, what What pays less stand-up comedy or professional

  wrestling a pretty equal, probably stand up.

  But, but that's mainly because you also, like, do a lot of

  shows for free, like, that's gonna wander.

  Yeah, or like, it's an open mic that you're going to, like, work

  on your craft, that can be considered, like, similar to

  like, oh, I the dojo shows like, a lot of companies are doing.

  That now is at their training center.

  When their students get to a certain level, they start
• 4:21
  filming matches their like those matches.

  They're not getting paid for that.
• 4:24
  They're they're technically probably still paying tuition so
• 4:28
  yeah, you're probably paying to wrestle.

  Yeah. So it's that's similar in that
• 4:32
  aspect and then I mean if you do like a bar show, you might get
• 4:36
  $10 $20 or just drink tickets. And yeah, I mean my take a hot
• 4:42
  dog over that. Yeah, yeah.

  Sometimes sometimes that Bar food can be sneaky, you know?
• 4:46
  But yeah. So how, how did you get into
• 4:49
  this world of professional wrestling?
• 4:51
  So, I started training when I was 16 and so, I couldn't drive
• 4:59
  at the time. In fact, one of the first times
• 5:03
  where, like, my mom, like taught me on a drive was after a
• 5:06
  training session. But so I had to choose a school
• 5:09
  that was local to me. I'm in the northern Virginia
• 5:11
  area. I started training with a
• 5:13
  company called Qaeda Pro keep your dreams alive at this time.
• 5:20
  Their training center was in the back of a daycare.
• 5:26
  It just had like, gymnastic mats.
• 5:29
  I trained there like, every Saturday for maybe three months.
• 5:35
  I did not see the ring at all. It was just the just the like
• 5:41
  gymnastics floor mats and then the owner was living in New York
• 5:46
  at the time. And if you don't, if you never
• 5:48
  seen a map in your life, you are kin Virginia.
• 5:51
  Not not the closest. Yeah, that's a whole.
• 5:55
  But so I. But I was 16, I was like fine.
• 5:58
  And like honestly if like there are under cage underage kids
• 6:03
  training, it's probably probably good to not be in a ring.
• 6:08
  Like ruining your development and your body.
• 6:12
  But so, mainly we just learned basic chain and then doing like,
• 6:19
  rolls and stuff and cardio, but then because owner was in New
• 6:23
  York, it it ended up shutting down.
• 6:27
  Essentially one of the people from a previous class was asked
• 6:30
  to be the head trainer and he's like, no, I'm not qualified for
• 6:35
  that at all. And so at 16, the dream kind of
• 6:40
  died a little bit about a year later the company did reopen
• 6:46
  their training school. This time it was in it was in a
• 6:50
  strip mall and there there was like a Mexican church next door
• 6:58
  and then on, like behind us was like a porn shop.

  Love that, that's that, that is as well.
• 7:07
  First thing is to get Church porn and wrestling.
• 7:09
  Yeah. So it's a fun experience going
• 7:12
  into that but that's where we had a ring that time and so I
• 7:18
  started training then probably the like at that point I could
• 7:24
  drive so I could have potentially chosen something
• 7:28
  else. But again this was fairly close
• 7:31
  to where I lived and I was still getting the previous rate that I
• 7:35
  had agreed on in signed a contract.
• 7:37
  For and so, I decide to stick with it.
• 7:40
  Maybe if I chose to like drive up to Philly, like that was the
• 7:45
  other option, but that's still three hours for me and I was 17.
• 7:50
  So, I saw, I'd like school in the morning and things like
• 7:52
  that. But but that was fun.
• 7:58
  I started training there that class with me Nyla Rose was
• 8:04
  there. They were in my class.
• 8:07
  Yeah she's at a Virginia. Yeah and then shortly after I
• 8:12
  started Logan, Eason LaRue was was also there.
• 8:16
  So, yeah. Criminally underrated.
• 8:19
  Yeah. I like her.
• 8:21
  There's no reason why he's not on TV.
• 8:24
  He's so Good ab. Absolutely.

  Like, I love Logan and and his great, I was happy when he
• 8:32
  showed up because when he showed up he asked me like, like what
• 8:39
  wrestling I watch. I was like, I watch Like, Ring
• 8:41
  of Honor and he was the only person at that time at her
• 8:45
  school that did watch anything Independence.
• 8:48
  Everyone else was like, strictly WWE stuff.
• 8:54
  And so it was cool that he was there and someone else to talk
• 8:58
  about things I actually liked and could try and do stuff other
• 9:02
  than what was on TV. Yeah.
• 9:05
  And Ring of Honor is a, that's a that's a deep cut at that.
• 9:07
  What year is that 2007? Wow, I mean your head of the
• 9:14
  curve? Yeah they're probably it's
• 9:18
  probably still like just when they started to decline but
• 9:22
  their Popularity was on the rise still?
• 9:24
  Yeah. Yeah.

  That's a II didn't realize how big of a deal Ring of Honor was
• 9:31
  until like maybe a year or two ago.
• 9:34
  I knew it existed, but I never realized the, the history there
• 9:38
  and who came out of it and what was built out of that and then
• 9:41
  learning about it just from doing concentrating and
• 9:43
  wrestling and kind of going back and re learning things and then
• 9:46
  being in in the worldwide, dojo. And then being like, wow, we're
• 9:50
  essentially in the heart of roh. At one point in time, you know,
• 9:54
  in this place and hearing all the stories about the broken
• 9:57
  squat racks behind us, because Cesaro shattered.

  It sitting in the going and Seabees office and being like
• 10:03
  that's where Punk and Daniel Bryan and people like Kevin
• 10:06
  Owens walk through the doors. Like this is unbelievable.

  So yeah. And it's kind of cool that it's
• 10:11
  in our immediate area in Pennsylvania.

  Yeah, it like discovering Ring of Honor probably saved my
• 10:18
  fandom in wrestling because like the Early 2000s, WWE was bad.
• 10:26
  And then like I started watching TNA and then I that started to
• 10:30
  get bad too. And then then I found the
• 10:33
  independence and and that revived everything.
• 10:36
  Got me checking out stuff from Japan as well.
• 10:40
  Yeah, so was wrestling. Always a big part of your
• 10:43
  childhood and growing up. And we're, you always in, like,
• 10:45
  did you always just like, how did you find wrestling?
• 10:48
  Like was it, your parents were into it and it kind of stumble
• 10:50
  across or how did you get that bug?
• 10:53
  my parents weren't really my the earliest I can remember is it
• 10:58
  must have been some like WCW, like, see show that my dad put
• 11:02
  on, I got maybe his WWF but I was like Macho Man and like many
• 11:07
  Macho Man against like doink and Dink and like I remember
• 11:13
  enjoying that and then like They would buy me like wrestling
• 11:17
  wrestling action figures, and like I enjoyed playing with
• 11:19
  those and everything and I like I had a ring and things like
• 11:21
  that, but I wasn't like watching all the time and then I started
• 11:28
  to during that probably right at that Attitude Era, but then I
• 11:33
  decided to order a pay-per-view without their permission.
• 11:40
  Which extinction by bucks? It was probably less than that
• 11:44
  at the time, but I want to was I don't I don't remember the first
• 11:54
  pay-per-view. My parents ever bit the bullet
• 11:56
  and ordered for me was was WrestleMania with HBK and razor,
• 12:02
  bring the ladder match data and I watched it a hundred times.
• 12:06
  I just kept repeating it all the whole time.
• 12:08
  Just watching a bag watching back.
• 12:09
  And back. It was it was I was my first
• 12:11
  pay-per-view. Yeah I can't it wasn't a
• 12:15
  WrestleMania. And my parents found out and
• 12:20
  we're mad about it and my dad and they like ask me of course
• 12:23
  and I was like, oh, you know, I probably sat on the phone and it
• 12:27
  did it on its own. It dialed the number and then
• 12:31
  agreed to it. And yeah, now using the button
• 12:35
  you can accidentally wouldn't be like, oh yeah, it's no.
• 12:37
  I was trying to hit back in the remote froze, you know?
• 12:40
  Yeah. I want to see how much it cost I
• 12:41
  know is gonna buy it but like clearly you can't sit on the
• 12:45
  phone and and so, they cancelled my cable.
• 12:53
  So, so then for a while, I just had basic cable and like, not
• 12:56
  just like watching wrestling, but just watching TV in general,
• 12:59
  is like an elementary. Every school kid was rough.

  So I could really only like, watch Smackdown because I was on
• 13:05
  like UPN, which was yeah, just barely on basic cable, but I
• 13:11
  said, watch that. And then I kept watching it
• 13:15
  after that, that point. Yeah, now from being from the
• 13:19
  Virginia area and working in that scene, how did you how did
• 13:22
  you then gravitate up to the Northeast, the Northeast area?
• 13:26
  So the count the the kind of the company I trained with Ended up
• 13:31
  closing when I went to college because I did take a year and a
• 13:34
  half off training. Actually got me to graduate high
• 13:38
  school early, which is fun. My senior year, I only needed
• 13:44
  two classes to graduate. And my school is like, hey, you
• 13:50
  can take five and I was like, I only need two to graduate.
• 13:53
  Why would I take five? And they're like well you can
• 13:56
  like work and I was like, no, no, I am not taking classes.
• 13:59
  I don't need. To.
• 14:00
  And so they said, I could go to an alternative school if I had a
• 14:04
  good reason and my reason was trying to be a professional
• 14:06
  wrestler and they bought it. And so, I just had two classes
• 14:11
  and I graduated a semester early apart, like this is one less kid
• 14:14
  we have to worry about like just get them out the door.
• 14:18
  Yeah, I don't know if they read like in, like I don't think I
• 14:21
  was training at that time because I think I told them that
• 14:23
  before they like shut down when I was still in the daycare and
• 14:27
  that was like a Saturday. So like that didn't impact.
• 14:30
  It's cool at all but they bought it.
• 14:33
  I went to the school. I got a is like it was a great
• 14:36
  school. It was mainly for like kids who
• 14:38
  get kicked out of other schools and don't like 12 graduate but
• 14:42
  don't aren't allowed at the other schools and then like
• 14:46
  pregnant moms who don't have like time to be doing like a
• 14:51
  full year but they can do a semester.
• 14:54
  So like it was full of people who wanted to be in school and
• 14:56
  like the teachers didn't give us homework and stuff.
• 14:58
  It was great. But yeah, me let me just add
• 15:02
  that I thought of like kids that were like like Sunday like
• 15:05
  summer school were just like so our summer school because we
• 15:09
  live in like a coal region. So it's like all these different
• 15:11
  like 80 schools and they all send their same just dirtball
• 15:15
  kids to one area and that summer school.
• 15:18
  So it's like the All-Star team of just the worst kids of every
• 15:22
  school and, wow, I had to summer school one year and it is it was
• 15:27
  a shit show. So the this wasn't because like,
• 15:32
  If you get kicked out of school you can just not go to school
• 15:35
  anymore. Yeah.
• 15:36
  Like these are these are kids that like are going because they
• 15:40
  wanted to graduate. They did get kicked out.
• 15:42
  They most likely did have some issues going on but like they
• 15:47
  didn't have to be there. Yeah.
• 15:50
  So like it was that it was actually like there's not a ton
• 15:53
  of fights like it's like there were bad kids but not too bad.
• 15:59
  Yeah they're there for because they're looking for that.

  And chance. Yeah.

  And and so wrestling got me out. So I spent a year and a half
• 16:08
  without going to college that. I went to college in North
• 16:13
  Carolina and again like Still kind of mid 2000's, so a lot of
• 16:22
  the stuff I had done with the company.

  I trained with I didn't have like access to like send that to
• 16:27
  promoters and things like that. And so I get to school school,
• 16:31
  there's a company down there that runs near by so I do hit
• 16:35
  them up the very first show that they're doing while I'm down.
• 16:39
  There is an all caged show that was like oh I don't know.
• 16:43
  This is a company I want to do because again like I've trained
• 16:48
  for at this point, maybe two years.
• 16:53
  Wasn't really ready to start doing death matches and cage
• 16:56
  cage shit. And it like, it would be fine
• 17:00
  now. And eventually after after some
• 17:03
  time I did go to them and I did work with them a few different
• 17:06
  times, but it just seemed like not a great situation and then
• 17:13
  there's not really like companies where I'd have to
• 17:15
  drive. It's like hard to get get in
• 17:17
  with them without having stuff. I can send them whether it's a
• 17:20
  DVD or YouTube link at that time.

  So I come back from from college, the company that I
• 17:27
  trained with is now closed, so I don't have it in there.
• 17:31
  Is that Filly company? No, no, no.
• 17:35
  That's still, I didn't know if you were, I didn't know if you
• 17:37
  were chaining out of shekhar or not, because like, a lot of
• 17:41
  people who were part of Camp LeapFrog were all like shekhar
• 17:43
  Affiliated know. So I I would have trained with
• 17:48
  them. But again, it was three hours
• 17:49
  and there was a school 30 minutes from my house.
• 17:52
  Yeah I did look into it a bunch though but notice it was Qaeda.
• 17:58
  We're at originally trained, they were closed and so then
• 18:01
  there's it's so hard to run shows in Virginia or DC that
• 18:06
  there just wasn't anything at that time and so at that point
• 18:12
  kind of I've been out for a few years it's like I don't really
• 18:18
  have anything to show someone to give me a chance.
• 18:24
  So I kind of just didn't do anything for a few years, then a
• 18:27
  company started called Nova Pro in Virginia.
• 18:32
  And and Logan was was going to be one of their stars and was
• 18:36
  one of their Stars. So I just want to watch and me
• 18:41
  and Logan reconnected and so I started helping out at Nova Pro.
• 18:46
  I started doing commentary there because I really I didn't want
• 18:49
  to pay for a license and and they were At it, they were
• 18:52
  bringing in a lot of stars. Like if you look at their cage
• 18:55
  match, like there's a reason that people weren't getting paid
• 18:59
  what they were supposed to her at all.

  And so, I didn't think I belonged on the shows, but I
• 19:07
  started doing comments here and I really like commentary with
• 19:09
  them, but then Nova Pro closed down for a lot of different
• 19:17
  reasons. And, and I just got in my foot
• 19:20
  in there to start doing commentary, I add a few matches
• 19:23
  with them as well and they closed down the lat the matches
• 19:27
  I did with them. Are on shows that never got
• 19:30
  released. So again, didn't have footage to
• 19:33
  give to someone else at this point.
• 19:37
  And so, So then I'm still talk with Logan.
• 19:41
  He asked me if I want to ride up with him to a camp leaf frog.
• 19:44
  Show. I was like, yeah, I'm not really
• 19:46
  do anything, it's the pandemic, there's like nothing to do.

  So I wrote up with, I wrote up with Logan to Camp LeapFrog and
• 19:55
  kind of started all over again. Like hey can I help out?
• 19:58
  Can I do this? I did some commentary for them.

  Eventually pitched an idea of me essentially being like a Bobby
• 20:07
  Dempsey type Character where I was just with people that
• 20:10
  treated me bad. So I think that green suit.

  Yeah and I started doing some managing up there and that's how
• 20:19
  I got into can't believe frog up there.

  Really was just being friends with Logan and willing to keep
• 20:25
  him company on a long ride that that is so key to like we talked
• 20:30
  about that on a podcast. Maybe two, you two episodes ago
• 20:32
  with like we call my car, gateway drug because Mike Mike
• 20:36
  doesn't drive and he'll just be like, yo, I need a car ride to
• 20:40
  get to this next show who wants to ride and he's booked, but he
• 20:43
  just needs a way there. Yeah.

  And nine times out of ten men, you just take that ride with him
• 20:48
  and you bring a car full and wrestling companies are like,
• 20:51
  oh, you're here, three people didn't cancel, or, you know how
• 20:54
  to do this. This, and this and you can do
• 20:56
  commentary, and you can do this, like, yeah.

  Welcome to the team and then you're getting opportunities.

  And then you find a new needs and new little family and you're
• 21:04
  Off to the Races. Yeah, like that.

  That's how that's how I got up there and I had a lot of fun.

  So I kept coming back and then was getting to do some stuff

  there. And then, once again, pretty
• 21:22
  much my entire wrestling career, it's shuts down.

  You are the bad bug but it's not your fault or something down,

  but maybe your Yang's. Yeah, yeah, like it's every time

  it's like, oh now I got to start over thankfully at the time.

  Flying V with starting starting back up after it had kind of

  shut down for a little bit as well.

  And they asked me to do commentary with big dust who I

  love and I was super excited to do that.

  He loves he loves me, but it's a lot of Us still giving

  So that's a Maryland. They run a black box theater and

  so they tend to have like a theater audience and so they do

  put a lot of emphasis on like characters and and making things

  kind of mesh with the theater audience.

  Their last show. They did a kosho with a company

  called super art fight which is like they have two artists who

  are Just drawing on a like a sheet of paper at the same time

  and it's weird and crazy and fun.

  That sounds like something. I would absolutely love to be

  honest with you. That's yeah, amazing.

  They're incredible artist. Yeah, I fell into the sanctuary.

  I've gotta buy me. It's an old church.

  They convert it into a wrestling studio and it's one of those
• 23:23
  places to you walk in and you kind of look at the history and

  like holy crap. Look at the people who came
• 23:27
  through here. But it's kind of like, how you

  said those Dojo shows where it's Kind of like it's a venue.

  Do you want to come work? You can the guy who runs it
• 23:35
  literally is losing money, every month, just keeping the building
• 23:38
  a float. So we can't pay anybody but it's
• 23:40
  a good place that the lights look good.

  They will cameras look good, their Productions good and you
• 23:44
  can get your footage because it's on YouTube, right then and
• 23:46
  there alive, you know and it's a good way to get your resume
• 23:49
  upswell to because that's what you brought up is to is a really
• 23:53
  good point when it comes to this business, like you go and work
• 23:56
  your ass off at a school, or you go, work yourself up in a
• 23:58
  company and then some promoters. Is a is a, is a juror ball or
• 24:04
  something crazy shit happens. And then you lose your entire
• 24:06
  category, our catalog. And now you can't promote
• 24:09
  yourself because no one knows who you are, because that's a
• 24:13
  huge thing to when you take a step back and the independent
• 24:15
  wrestling scene is, you are one in a million like, you think
• 24:18
  wrestling in General on TV is Big Independence, three times as
• 24:21
  big and it's everyone trying to fight and Claw on their way up
• 24:24
  to the next level. And that's why one like company,
• 24:28
  shut down. And then like you're like oh
• 24:30
  well the entire catalog is now Erase because that person was so
• 24:33
  bad. Like we can't show their footage
• 24:35
  anymore and I kind of I'm all I'm kind of in that boat were
• 24:38
  like I get it that person shouldn't get paid like because
• 24:41
  we don't want to support them but the work that the people put
• 24:45
  in in the ring, shouldn't be shut down or shut off or like
• 24:49
  because that's what it's for them.

  That's that's opportunities for them to Showcase what they can
• 24:53
  do, you know. Yeah, absolutely.

  Yeah, but yeah. Also Virginia, seen as you work

  with, besides like a nylon Laura Logan, that we may know.

  So at our school, Christian York was my head trainer from ECW,

  which he wasn't, he was kind of by name the head trainer, but he

  was there for a little bit and then mainly, John Kerman was was
• 25:28
  my trainer who I think he's great.

  I think he could have done more, he had a few hours, Eh matches.

  I think he was in ECW as Herman, the German or ecwa, I'm sorry.
