- 0:01The power of visualization has been recognized as an aid in
- 0:04healing from illness and excelling in sports, and in
- 0:09helping an individual achieve results in the external world.
- 0:13The spiritual seeker also can put this power to work to
- 0:18achieve results in the inner world.
- 0:21Practitioners of Tibetan Buddhism are trained on how to
- 0:24utilize visualization in their spiritual practice, and
- 0:28considerable focus is placed upon the techniques involved.
- 0:33Devotees from other traditions also frequently use
- 0:36visualization, whether consciously or unconsciously, to
- 0:41place themselves in a state of receptivity to the spiritual
- 0:45forces. Highly mentalized individuals
- 0:49frequently mistake acceptance of an idea as the true realization.
- 0:54This, however, is misleading. They may experience a change of
- 0:59thought, but their vital being and their bodies remain
- 1:03untransformed, unchanged. The progress that occurs on the
- 1:08mental plane needs to be transmitted and accepted by the
- 1:11vital and physical levels of the being in order to become an
- 1:15integral progress that also has the power to express itself in
- 1:20the external world. The power of visualization is
- 1:25one method for aiding the seeker and moving the spiritual
- 1:28pressure and the mental idea into the vital and physical
- 1:33realms and thereby effectuating the realization in the entire
- 1:37being. One of the main leverage points
- 1:40is the direct and solid contact with one psychic being, the
- 1:44spiritual center of the being, hidden deep within behind the
- 1:48secret heart. This brings forth the power of
- 1:52realization. The mother provides insight into
- 1:56how to use the power of visualization to effectuate this
- 2:00direct psychic contact. The mother notes quotes when one
- 2:06goes on the discovery of one's inner being, of all the
- 2:10different parts of one's being, one very often has the feeling
- 2:14that one is entering deep into a hall or room, and according to
- 2:19the colour, the atmosphere, the things it contains, one has a
- 2:23very clear perception of the part of the being one is
- 2:26visiting. And then one can go from one
- 2:30room to another, open doors and go into deeper and deeper rooms,
- 2:36each of which has its own character.
- 2:39And often these inner visits can be made during the night.
- 2:43Then it takes a still more concrete form, like a dream, and
- 2:48one feels that he is entering a house and that this house is
- 2:51very familiar to him. And according to the time, the
- 2:56periods, it is internally different.
- 3:00And sometimes it may be in a state of very great disorder,
- 3:04very great confusion, where everything is mixed up.
- 3:10Sometimes there are even broken things.
- 3:12It is quite a chaos. At other times these things are
- 3:16organized, put in their place. It is as though one had arranged
- 3:22the household, one cleans up, puts it in order, and it is
- 3:25always the same house. This house is the image, a kind
- 3:30of objective image of your inner being in accordance with what
- 3:36you see there and do there. You have a symbolic
- 3:38representation of your psychological work.
- 3:42It is very useful for concretizing.
- 3:45It depends on people. Some people are just
- 3:48intellectuals. For them everything is expressed
- 3:52by ideas and not by images. But if they were to go down into
- 3:57a more material domain, well, they risk not touching things in
- 4:02their concrete reality and remaining only in the domain of
- 4:06ideas, remaining in the mind and remaining there indefinitely.
- 4:12Then one thinks one is making progress, and mentally one has
- 4:16done so, though it is something altogether indefinite.
- 4:22The mind's progress may take thousands of years, for it is a
- 4:25very vast and very indefinite field which is constantly
- 4:29renewed. But if one wants to progress in
- 4:33the vital and physical well, this imaged representation
- 4:38becomes very useful for fixing the action, making it more
- 4:42concrete. Naturally, it doesn't happen
- 4:45completely at will, it depends on each one's nature.
- 4:49But those who have the power of concentrating with images, well,
- 4:54they have one more facility to sit in meditation before a
- 4:59closed door, as though it were a heavy door of bronze, and one
- 5:04sits in front of it with the will that it may open and to
- 5:08pass to the other side. And so the whole concentration,
- 5:13the whole aspiration is gathered into a beam and pushes, pushes,
- 5:19pushes against this door and pushes more and more with an
- 5:24increasing energy until all of a sudden it bursts open and one
- 5:29enters. It makes a very powerful
- 5:32impression. And so one is as though plunged
- 5:35into the light, and then one has the full enjoyment of a sudden
- 5:41and radical change of consciousness with an
- 5:44illumination that captures 1 entirely and the feeling that
- 5:48one is becoming another person. And this is very concrete and
- 5:54powerful way of entering into contact with one's psychic
- 5:57being. End Quote.
