- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'll tell you what, I did uh I did a 10K.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Did a 10K?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's not that impressive.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: That is.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: It's alright.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: I didn't go as fast as I wanted to go.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: I love to go very fast.
- 2:08SPEAKER_06: What was the time?
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: It was one hour and four minutes.
- 2:11SPEAKER_06: See, I don't know if I don't even know if that's good.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: It's like it's like probably like a bit below average, I would say.
- 2:16SPEAKER_06: But the thing is it sounds really fast.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Nah, I could have gotten I could have gotten sub one hour.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: I definitely could have got sub one hour, but like halfway through I got too hot and I had to take my jumper off.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: And then I was taking my jumper.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: No, I took my jumper off and then my um and then my like hat got caught in the jumper.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Oh and then like I pulled the hat off and then my ponytail came out, and then I tried to tie my ponytail uh up, but then my hat fell on the ground, and then I had to like pick my hat.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: I was like, this is it must have added like four minutes.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Like it definitely like it took ages to sort out.
- 2:47SPEAKER_06: Okay, but you're so you're not you're not Michael, but you're definitely in a rom call.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: And then also I think I wasn't really fully set up for it because I've forgotten my shoes, so I had to borrow my mum's shoes.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Um, and then also I um I just carried my headphone case at my phone in my hand the whole way.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: I like ran with it that and I was like, oh, this there's gotta be a better way.
- 3:10SPEAKER_06: It's the first time you've ever run in your life?
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: No, I run quite often, so it's like really bad that I did that.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: I just like just was not prepared.
- 3:18SPEAKER_06: He's got really flustered before and like didn't think about it.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was great because I did it with my brother and we were gonna run the whole thing together, but at like 1.5k, he was like, I've got to tell my shoelace, my shoelace.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: So I was like, okay, catch up with me, and then I didn't see him in one.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: And then like he came, he came with like these, he was like running with like these two old ladies, and he was like, Yeah, I just wanted to make them look good.
- 3:38SPEAKER_06: Like how far behind was he?
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Uh he was quite far behind.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: He was about uh 20 minutes behind me.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that is that's not great.
- 3:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: He just said he was like at three, he was like at three kilometers.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: I was like, nah, I can't do this.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: I was like, that's so early.
- 4:00SPEAKER_06: No, I'd I'd be like a kilometer in and not be able to do it.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think to be honest, I think when he tied his shoelace up, like that was yeah, yeah.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: That was we were both obviously not also when we were walking to the race, he was like, Oh, wow, I can't believe I'm doing this.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: I was like, it was your idea.
- 4:15SPEAKER_06: Does he run regularly?
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: No, he doesn't.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: He ran like five months ago, uh, and then he was like, Yup, I'll be fine.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: He did like a 5k five months ago.
- 4:25SPEAKER_06: That's what Jay Goody did, but she just like decided to run a marathon, like having never run.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, the a marathon is not.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: She ran the full London London.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: She did it all.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 4:34SPEAKER_06: I think she finished it.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Wow, that's a very impressive.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: He must have got injured though, that's the only thing, yeah.
- 4:39SPEAKER_06: I could not do that.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: No training.
- 4:42SPEAKER_06: Like I don't even think I could walk it.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: No, you could definitely walk it.
- 4:45SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because it's especially through London, you get to see all the great landmarks.
- 4:50SPEAKER_06: That's not that's not my concern.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Like a delightful walk.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Like it would be lovely, a lovely day out.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Well worth it.
- 4:58SPEAKER_06: It'd be a very long day out.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it would be a long day out, yeah.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: But worth it.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: All through London, yeah.
- 5:03SPEAKER_06: Well, you how's your comedy going at the moment?
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's alright.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Stay bold, stay bold.
- 5:09SPEAKER_06: Are you working towards anything?
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Not really.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Um oh, I actually I feel like maybe I am.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: I always forget.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, I um just like material if you're just doing your material.
- 5:23SPEAKER_06: You had a busy year last year.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Did I?
- 5:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 5:27unknown: Really?
- 5:28SPEAKER_06: Did the reserve last year?
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: I didn't do the reserve, I did the Gilda Balloon version of the cut that.
- 5:34SPEAKER_06: You did the Gilda Balloon last year?
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, I did.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I did.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Uh that was fun.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Well actually, no, that was it was it was good, but it was like it was it was great.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: It was tough.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: It was tough.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: That's a good way.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: But then it's Edinburgh is there.
- 5:52SPEAKER_06: But you did a whole month though, didn't you?
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I did.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:54SPEAKER_06: That's intense.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, if you ever like gig for a whole month, then no one's ever ever laughed.
- 6:00SPEAKER_06: If you gig to like if you put a month of my gigs together, probably a room of like 160 people who don't like you for a month.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: A month.
- 6:08SPEAKER_06: That can't be true.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Everyone's like, oh, it's a sellout show, and you're like, oh so many people who hate me.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Nah, it's not true.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: But like, I think the majority of that audience probably I probably wasn't their flavour.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Uh I know there were probably like there were definitely people in that audience who did like me, but they were not laughing loud enough, I would say.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: Laugh a bit louder if you like me so much.
- 6:32SPEAKER_06: I did the live episode of this um a couple weeks ago for for uh Vault Fest.
- 6:38SPEAKER_06: Oh, and it would like the entire audience had no idea what the podcast was.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Who did you do it with?
- 6:45SPEAKER_06: Lorna Rose Tree.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Ah, Lorna's great.
- 6:47SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: What movie did she do?
- 6:48SPEAKER_06: She did Epic Movie.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: I love that film.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Well, I've not like seen the whole film.
- 6:52SPEAKER_06: It's kind of bad.
- 6:56SPEAKER_06: But also, it was like none of none of the people in the audience had seen the movie.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: What did they come to the movie?
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: I think they came to see Lorna.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay, definitely, bad play.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: Good shout.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Very savvy.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Very savvy from me, isn't it?
- 7:08SPEAKER_06: But that was kind of like the thing of like, oh, they have no idea who I am, they don't know what this is.
- 7:13SPEAKER_06: And now I've got to talk about this movie for an hour.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: No, they'll love it.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: They'll love it.
- 7:17SPEAKER_06: But they had fun.
- 7:18SPEAKER_06: They seem to enjoy it afterwards.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Me and Lorna want to do a Doctor Who podcast.
- 7:23SPEAKER_06: Oh, that'd be good.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: We want to watch all the episodes.
- 7:27SPEAKER_06: That'd be long.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: Well, we'll do like eight.
- 7:30SPEAKER_06: Start from the new ones.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: No.
- 7:31SPEAKER_06: Start from the mid-60s.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: No.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, God, no.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Okay, we're not a nerd.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: No, we are.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: Start from the middle.
- 7:36SPEAKER_06: That's what I meant by the new ones.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I thought you meant like from Shoot Cowboys.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: No, it's starting from Eccleson.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: I think I'll go like and then definitely do Tenon.
- 7:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah, of course.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Um and then she's not a huge fan of Matt Smith or Peter Capaldi.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: Whereas I love I like Matt Smith, but I love Peter Cavaldi.
- 7:54SPEAKER_06: Oh that would be good.
- 7:55SPEAKER_06: That's a good combination then, if you're not going to be able to do that.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, which I think is good, yeah, because she doesn't really want to watch those ones, and I'm like, nah, you have to, you have to.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: And then I don't think I don't know.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we should do it.
- 8:04SPEAKER_06: I stopped after Matt Smith.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Everyone stopped after Matt Smith.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Peter Cavaldi is so good.
- 8:10SPEAKER_06: I do really like Peter Cavaldi, but I just couldn't get into the episodes.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: Uh his second season is is I think better than the first season.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he like really gets into it.
- 8:18SPEAKER_06: I need to start with Shooty again, though.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's gonna be great.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: So good.
- 8:22SPEAKER_06: He'll be he'll be really good.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, let's save this for Mida Lauders podcast.
- 8:25SPEAKER_06: Oh, sorry.
- 8:27SPEAKER_06: This is just a teaser trailer.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: We also like keep we keep uh we keep having to rearrange when we're gonna record it as well.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: So it's a good chance that it will never happen.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: And now I've like little.
- 8:37SPEAKER_06: Also, how many podcasts are you starting?
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: I love to start a podcast and never edit them and never release them.
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: I love doing it.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: I love to record podcasts and like no one no one must hear them.
- 8:57SPEAKER_06: It's also the stuff you recorded is so funny as well.
- 9:01SPEAKER_06: It needs to be it needs to be released.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: I'll take it home today and I'll edit it tonight.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Now you said that, like, I'll make sure I take it and edit it.
- 9:10SPEAKER_06: I don't have it on me today.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: Oh, do you not?
- 9:12SPEAKER_06: No, it's not it's on my like hard drive.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Well that's sort of this out.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: I'll get it.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: I don't have a hard drive.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Well, I need a hard drive.
- 9:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah, of course.
- 9:20SPEAKER_06: There's gonna be massive files.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: See, this is the big problem.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: This is the issue.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, no, we've got to get it.
- 9:27SPEAKER_06: Let's get an external hard or like a uh memory stick or whatever.
- 9:31SPEAKER_06: Or like a card, like an SD card.
- 9:33SPEAKER_06: Why?
- 9:33SPEAKER_06: This is no idea.
- 9:34SPEAKER_06: Okay, it's not Chat for a podcast.
- 9:37SPEAKER_06: Unless you want to make one and someone else wants to make one themselves.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: What, uh uh about tech?
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: Well, I could do it with my dad.
- 9:46SPEAKER_06: I would love a podcast with your dad.
- 9:47SPEAKER_06: Your dad is so funny.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: What have you met?
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, when he was when he came to 2000.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, he has.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: He's come here quite often, hasn't he?
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's really weird.
- 9:57SPEAKER_06: First time I met you, I met your dad.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's true.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you met like loads of my family.
- 10:02SPEAKER_06: I met her entire family.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: That was great.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: They loved that night.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: They had a really good time.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: That's when I did the I did that I did that gig, and then my mum went around introducing me to everyone in the audience being like, this is my daughter.
- 10:13SPEAKER_06: But then you got bit was that's the day you got signed as well.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: Um no, that was the day that my agent came to see it.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Um but she only could stay for the first like couple minutes.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:22SPEAKER_06: Uh and then you ended up being really late.
- 10:24SPEAKER_06: You were supposed to be earlier, and it was like, I don't know how it got delayed, but yeah.
- 10:27SPEAKER_06: Um as every gig does.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Classic gigs.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: That's so classic.
- 10:34SPEAKER_06: But yeah, I'd love a podcast with your dad.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I should die.
- 10:37SPEAKER_06: He's so fun.
- 10:38SPEAKER_06: Like every every video you posted of him as well, it's so funny.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's good.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: He's good, he's good on video.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: Like it's when he tried to get that oat milk deal.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: What?
- 10:46SPEAKER_06: I haven't seen that one.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Well, he he like hates like vegan stuff, but um, he saw that KFC had a vegan rage and he was like, I could do it, I could be a vegan, I could be a vegan.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: Um, and I was like, no, you can't.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: I don't think you realize what being a vegan is.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: And then he went to have like a cup of tea, and I was like, Well, you're gonna have to have oat milk in this.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: And he was like, Yeah, I can do it, I can do it.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: And then he had it, and he was like, Mmm, oat milk.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: I love oat milk, and I filmed it, and I filmed it, and I put it on my story, and I tagged Oatley in it, and they replied, being like, Yeah, we love this guy.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Well, brand new, and they never responded.
- 11:20SPEAKER_06: I've seen they respond to a lot of people at the end of the day.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they do, they're whoever their social media is.
- 11:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they're a good social media person.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: Makes you feel really listened to, makes you feel heard by the Oatley brand.
- 11:30SPEAKER_06: Should have tagged KFC as well.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, he could do he could definitely do be the spokesman KFC.
- 11:35SPEAKER_06: Your dad being the colonel, the new colonel.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're gonna kind of colour blind cast the colonel.
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be good.
- 11:42SPEAKER_06: They had a woman as the colonel before.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: No, that's too far.
- 11:45SPEAKER_06: I think it was in fact I think it was Margaret Show.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, really?
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:49SPEAKER_06: That's good.
- 11:49SPEAKER_06: I feel like it was I think we're making this up.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we'll we'll check.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: We'll fact check, fact-check that.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Where's the camera?
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Fact check, fact-check.
- 11:57SPEAKER_06: There's one camera.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Fact check, fact-check that.
- 11:59SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna fact check that now.
- 12:01SPEAKER_06: Uh while while we do it, while I'm fact-checking that, uh you came on the podcast to talk about the movie Dirty Dancing Havana Nights.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Dirty Dancing Havana Nights, correct, correct.
- 12:12SPEAKER_06: Now, what what is your what is your history with this movie?
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: Okay, so I love like everyone, the first Dirty Dancing Girl.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: I absolutely, who doesn't love the first night?
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: It's an absolute masterpiece, it's class, it's amazing.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: And so I for my birthday, I got the box set.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Like I got the first dirty dancing film, and it's a box set, so they have to put another DVD in there.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: And the DVD that came with was Dirty Dancing Havana Nights.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: And so I was like, all right, I'll watch this.
- 12:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: Um and how old were you?
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: I was um, I don't know actually.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: I don't know when I got that box set.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: I was quite old.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: I think I was at uni when I watched it.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: It was so funny to be binary box sets when I like what?
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: Why am I not just streaming?
- 13:01SPEAKER_06: But DVD's still a thing.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, but I was because I also had the Cheers, my mum bought me the Cheers box set as well for them.
- 13:07SPEAKER_06: I was like, I really want the Cheers box set, but it's so hard to come by now.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: I've got it.
- 13:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Where is it?
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, I shouldn't have.
- 13:13SPEAKER_06: Because they took it off streaming as well.
- 13:15SPEAKER_06: Oh, did they?
- 13:15SPEAKER_06: It used to be on Netflix for ages, and then it went on to like 40D.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: I love Cheers, it's it's such a good show.
- 13:21SPEAKER_06: So I was like working my way through it and then just took it off.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'll lend you the box set.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: I'll get it I'll lend it to you.
- 13:26SPEAKER_06: I've got to find a DVD for that.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: That's so true.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Like, that's a problem.
- 13:30SPEAKER_06: I don't I don't even have I don't even have one.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: I know, I don't know anyone who does.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Um but you'll have to like go to my parents' house to watch it.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: Like that's the only way.
- 13:40SPEAKER_06: Actually, it might work on my brother's PS5.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Yes, it does.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Actually, yes, I know that that that's it.
- 13:45SPEAKER_06: Okay, that's how I'll watch it.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Because um that's how we watched a movie recently, me and my brother.
- 13:51SPEAKER_06: It's gonna take me months to get through it, but yeah.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's fine.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: I'll end it to you.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: I'm not using it at the moment.
- 13:57SPEAKER_06: So you wait, so you go cheers, are you and then you're a Fraser fan as well.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, I love Fraser, yeah, yeah.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: I watched I watch Cheers First, like it should be, like how you're supposed to.
- 14:06SPEAKER_06: Yeah, a lot of people at our age or like back around the like the 20s 30s, they they watch uh Fraser First because that's that's what we're using on like channel for.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they both for exit shows.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: Fraser is so funny in cheers, though.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Castle Grammar is so good in cheers.
- 14:20SPEAKER_06: I didn't get to the point with him.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's really, really good.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: What what do you love about it?
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: I love the romance between Sam and Diane.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: That's what hooked it.
- 14:26SPEAKER_06: That was great, yeah.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a great it is like it's the classic.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's the original.
- 14:30SPEAKER_06: And she was still in it when I when I was watching it.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: It's still really good after she leaves.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: Like I I thought I would like it less after she left, but I didn't.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: I still enjoyed it.
- 14:39SPEAKER_06: That's when Kirsty Alley comes in.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she is really good as well.
- 14:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: She's dead now.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, oh that is okay.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: I'm problematic now.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: She can still be problematic.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, it's true.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: It's yeah, that's so true.
- 14:54SPEAKER_02: Being dead means you're not problematic anymore.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: That's like a lot of people.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's only a lot of people offered if that's the game.
- 15:06SPEAKER_06: There's so many people.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: I know, I know, yeah, yeah.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: I take back that.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: That's not a hot take.
- 15:12SPEAKER_06: That would be one of your hot takes for your podcast though.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, that's a really like when you're dead, you're no longer problematic.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: That's a really good one, actually.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: We should do that if we ever get around to recording another episode.
- 15:25SPEAKER_06: Um Yeah, sorry.
- 15:27SPEAKER_06: Um yeah, it's like Dirty Dancing, Havana Nights.
- 15:29SPEAKER_06: It came out in 2004 though.
- 15:31SPEAKER_06: But so were you too young to watch it then?
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, well, I wouldn't have watched it like before I watched Dirty Dancing.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: And I think I I was quite young when I watched Dirty Dancing.
- 15:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:41SPEAKER_06: Um I think it is a like kids for teenage film, really.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: Dirty Dancing.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: I mean Yeah, it's like one of those films where you watch it back and you're like, I can't believe I watched it because quite a lot of it.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Um Havana Knights I wa I definitely watched it as a young adult.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: I was like, must have been like 19 or 20 when I watched it.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Um it was quite late.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: I just got my housemate to at the time to watch the first.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: She'd never seen Dirty Dancing, so I got to watch the first one and she'd loved it, obviously.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: And I was like, well, why don't we watch the second one as well while we're up?
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: Because it was university, so we were all right.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: We were up late because we couldn't sleep.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: Um and then I yeah, so we watched we watched it and it was it was a journey, it was a real journey.
- 16:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's something.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it really is, isn't it?
- 16:32SPEAKER_06: It's it's 23% on Rowan to Marshall.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, which is not fair.
- 16:36SPEAKER_06: No.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: Not fair because the the cast is actually pretty good.
- 16:39unknown: Yeah.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: Well, John Slattery is in it, and I love it.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: John Slattery's great, yeah.
- 16:42SPEAKER_06: And uh and January Jones is in it.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, who's she?
- 16:45SPEAKER_06: She's she's got one scene at the beginning, like right at the beginning.
- 16:49SPEAKER_06: She's like the bully girl.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 16:52SPEAKER_06: So it's like mad men, two people from madmen before they were in madmen.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:56SPEAKER_06: But they don't interact with each other.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: But they don't really interact with each other in madmen either, do they?
- 17:01SPEAKER_06: No, that's true.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: Classic.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: They kept that going.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: That was in their rider.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's too bad, yeah.
- 17:08SPEAKER_06: But yeah, the audience score is 73%.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: What?
- 17:10SPEAKER_06: The audience score is 73%.
- 17:12SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 17:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 17:13SPEAKER_06: It's really high.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because it is fun.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: It's a fun film.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: It's a crazy film, but it's a fun film.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: What I think is so great, this is my favorite thing about it, is that it's set in uh 1950s Cuba during the revolution.
- 17:24SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: And at no point have they made really any effort to make it look like 1950s Cuba.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: It's the most naughty looking film I've ever seen in my life.
- 17:34SPEAKER_06: There's even a scene at the end where there's like they're in the club and there's hip-hop music.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: No, throughout the whole thing, hip-hop music is playing.
- 17:42SPEAKER_06: No, but it's like in playing in the club.
- 17:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: I think at the start, she wears like a 1950s style dress.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: And then from then on it's just like, what, this is all from like, it's all from like tabby girl.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: Like I know that it is not.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: I know for a fact that like no one was wearing that in the 50s.
- 18:01SPEAKER_06: It's so funny.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: So good.
- 18:03SPEAKER_06: But it's also, it was filmed.
- 18:05SPEAKER_06: I read that it was filmed in Dominican Republic.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 18:08SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 18:08SPEAKER_06: So it's not even filmed in Cuba.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: That I kind of filmed in Cuba.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: No, of course it wouldn't be filmed in Cuba because of the embargo.
- 18:14SPEAKER_06: Oh, of course, at the time.
- 18:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: That's literally what the movie's about, Yannis.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: Were you not paying attention to any of the political subjects?
- 18:20SPEAKER_06: It's the political thing that's in the background and it has about 30 seconds.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they really don't.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, this is what I read about it as well.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: Apparently, originally, so the original screenplay was like this really intense movie.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 18:31SPEAKER_06: About um Was it supposed to be dirty dancing?
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: No, no, it's just a movie about a romance that's set on the backdrop of the Cuban Revolution.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Which actually sounds amazing.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: It's a film that sounds really great.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: That's better.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: And then they were like, oh, we like this idea and we want to make it dirty dancing.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: And then the original writer was like, Yeah, there's there's not like really much of my original film in there.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: But imagine like pitching that and then being like, Yeah, we love this, but what if that makes so much sense because it feel it really does feel like they cut out so much of that stuff just to get to the dancing.
- 19:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:04SPEAKER_06: There's so much dancing itself.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: Also, the dancing itself, it's you're watching it and you're like, none of I know none of these moves were invented, like, yeah, there's no one was doing this back then.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's like, oh, it's Cuban, it's Cuban, so it's different, but it's also like that.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: I don't think they would have been dancing.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: No.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: Like, this is literally like how everyone used to dance in my first year of university.
- 19:22SPEAKER_06: Like I said, everyone's dancing in 2004.
- 19:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: Exactly, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they haven't even they haven't tried at all.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: And the thing is, is that like the original Dirty Dancing, um, that is also kind of the case.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: A little bit.
- 19:34SPEAKER_06: But they kind of get away with it.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: Because it's a great film.
- 19:37SPEAKER_06: So you're not like It's well made.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: And it's like a lot, like the characters are great, and it's and also it is, it does feel, it feels way more like the six.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: They've made an effort to make it feel more like the sixties than the um they really like it.
- 19:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, this is a this is also a prequel.
- 19:52SPEAKER_06: I should say.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, it's a prequel to the film.
- 19:54SPEAKER_06: It's a prequel because Patrick Swayze's character is in this as well.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but he's not actually Patrick.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: So he's no he is no, he's credited as like a dance instructor.
- 20:04SPEAKER_06: He is, but then I read in the in the trivia that it is supposed to be him.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, from what yeah, because he did he did dance in Cuba, like his character Johnny, did dance.
- 20:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and he references it in the original.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: So this is what I think.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: I don't think I I think that is a new character.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: I think it's a new character.
- 20:19SPEAKER_06: Although he's wearing the same, like I think it's Johnny's dad.
- 20:23SPEAKER_06: I mean, he is or granddad 30, 40 years older than him.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: I think that it is a ghost.
- 20:30SPEAKER_06: He's he's the character from ghost.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: No, no, but honestly, Yanis, I think he's a ghost.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: I think the character is a ghost.
- 20:38SPEAKER_06: You think she's a he's a hallucination?
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: But think about the way that he appears and stuff.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: He's always and like no one else can see it.
- 20:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah, nobody else talks to him.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: It's only her that talks to him.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's a ghost.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Fully a ghost.
- 20:48SPEAKER_06: I like this idea.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and she and It does make it more interesting.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because then she's being taught how to dance by a ghost.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: It's great.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: It's like such it's so good.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: That's so great.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 20:57SPEAKER_06: Well, so you think he's the ghost.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: That's a film.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: That's a new film.
- 21:00SPEAKER_06: He's the ghost of the of the dad.
- 21:03SPEAKER_06: I think it's just a coincidence that he's gonna be.
- 21:05SPEAKER_06: He's the ghost dad of the of the character from Dirty Dancing.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: I don't actually I I don't think he's related at all.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: I think it's like a separate character.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't, I think it's a coincidence that he looks like Johnny from Dirty Dancing Gear.
- 21:17SPEAKER_06: 40 years old.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: I think that's like if anyone was doing that, they'd be like, weird how your ghost looks like.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: They'd like that's and I think we could just explain it away like that.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: Like there should be a line in the like the sequel that's coming out of Dirty Dancing.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: There should be a line where it's like weird how this ghost looks like.
- 21:36SPEAKER_06: Didn't they also do a remake of Dirty Dancing like not long after this?
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: No, I don't think so.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Why would they need to?
- 21:42SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: A remake.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: I mean there's like the there's the musical, the dirty dance musical, which I've seen in Milton Keynes.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: In Milton Keynes.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: Where you see everything.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: I've seen a lot of stuff.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I live there.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: Like I've seen loads of stuff in Milton Keynes.
- 21:56SPEAKER_06: I'm st yeah.
- 21:57SPEAKER_06: Abigail Wrestling, Dirty Dancing 2017.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: What is that?
- 22:01SPEAKER_06: A musical reimagining.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 22:04SPEAKER_06: Oh, it was a it was a live version they recorded.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the stage show, yeah.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, they just recorded the video.
- 22:09SPEAKER_06: But they did like a live version of it.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: Like Hamilton.
- 22:12unknown: Yeah.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: Remember.
- 22:14SPEAKER_06: Do I remember?
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Do you remember Hamilton?
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: That was good.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: I love Hamilton.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: Very Obama.
- 22:20SPEAKER_06: It is very Obama era.
- 22:23SPEAKER_06: That's your favourite hero, though.
- 22:24SPEAKER_06: I love it.
- 22:25SPEAKER_06: It's my favourite hero.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: I am a I'm an Obama head.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Sue me.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Sue me.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: Don't.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: You probably could.
- 22:31SPEAKER_06: So you've been Obama head.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so it wasn't filmed in Dominican Republic, it was filmed in Puerto Rico.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 22:43unknown: Yeah.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: Like Linda.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: Well, I knew for a fact that it wasn't filmed in.
- 22:46SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's very obviously not filmed in Cuba.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:48SPEAKER_06: I didn't even think about it, but yeah, yeah.
- 22:50SPEAKER_06: It does make sense.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: They like lifted the Obama lifted the embargo.
- 22:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: Quite long after that film.
- 22:56unknown: Yeah.
- 22:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah, quite a long time.
- 22:58SPEAKER_06: He saw the film finally.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: I think it was 2012 that he lifted it.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: You watched the film with him and then He saw it and he was like, What?
- 23:05SPEAKER_06: I didn't know about this revolution.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: That's how we learn about that.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: I think that was how I learned about the Cuban Revolution.
- 23:13SPEAKER_06: No, you were 19.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: I was so old, yeah, you're right.
- 23:16SPEAKER_06: Well no, I knew that there had been a revolution.
- 23:18SPEAKER_06: You were 19 and into politics.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: That's what I learned about the emotions behind the revolution.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: So I knew it as like a fact, but then that's when you learned that like you could feel the people and the buzz.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: It was very good for that.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: It was very good about bringing the people's stories to the mainstream as a film.
- 23:37SPEAKER_06: When was the last time you saw this then?
- 23:40SPEAKER_06: Have you watched it frequently?
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: No, I haven't.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: Um I have I this morning I watched loads of clips from it.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: I was like, I don't have time to watch the whole film, but I'm gonna watch lots of clips.
- 23:50SPEAKER_06: I should say it's it's not even an hour and a half.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's which I think is great.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: That's my favorite.
- 23:56SPEAKER_06: It really like it goes straight through.
- 23:57SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:59SPEAKER_06: It like really cuts the chase.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it does.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's no build-up.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: Also, I will say that the lead guy looks very young.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: Like he looks really, really young.
- 24:08SPEAKER_06: Diego Luna.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:09SPEAKER_06: He is quite young in it, I think.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but he looks much younger than her.
- 24:14SPEAKER_06: I don't know about that.
- 24:15SPEAKER_06: So he's born.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: But he looks like like a teenager.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: He looks like a teenager.
- 24:21SPEAKER_06: No, I think he like he looks in his early twenties to me.
- 24:24SPEAKER_06: I think he looks his age in it.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 24:27SPEAKER_06: She she feels young in it.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she plays it, she plays it very well.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: Apparently she had a really bad time filming.
- 24:33SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they kept wanting her to be skinny.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: Which I think is uh very 2004.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: Like that's like peak 2004.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:42SPEAKER_06: She's also English.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: Doing the American.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Doing it for us girls, eh?
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: It could be me next.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: Could be me.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: Dirty Dancing four Havana Knights.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Two.
- 24:54SPEAKER_06: Havana Knights two.
- 24:57SPEAKER_06: It's just like, what is this?
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: We look forward to Dirty Dancing movie.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, because another Dirty Dancing movie is coming out.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: Is it?
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, in summer.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: It's gonna have Jennifer Beale in it as well.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: No way.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: That's gonna be great.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it's set in the 90s.
- 25:13SPEAKER_06: I was about to ask if Patrick Spoy would be there.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: Oh no, no.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's hologram.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: They keep doing that hologram thing.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Oh god, I don't know.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think that's a good thing.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: That's so that'd be so offensive.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't like it.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: Um but it's set in the 90s.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: I think gonna be very exciting.
- 25:27SPEAKER_06: Is she gonna be the teacher then?
- 25:29SPEAKER_06: Is that the plan?
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Do you remember Grease 2?
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: Also I actually yeah, Grease 2 could have also been a movie that I suggested.
- 25:34SPEAKER_06: It's been on here.
- 25:35SPEAKER_06: Oh, has it?
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Grease 2 is great.
- 25:37SPEAKER_06: I love Grease 2.
- 25:39SPEAKER_06: It's not good.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: It's so good.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: The songs are great.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: But Cool Rider.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: That's good.
- 25:45SPEAKER_06: This so the Grease 2 episode of this is the longest episode that this event has been recorded.
- 25:49SPEAKER_06: It's like over two hours long.
- 25:51SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 25:52SPEAKER_06: But it's like over two hours away.
- 25:54SPEAKER_06: Marsha Belski.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: Okay, cool.
- 25:57SPEAKER_06: It's us talking about like the songs for two hours.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the songs are so good.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: Cool rider is good.
- 26:02SPEAKER_06: The songs are the best part of it.
- 26:03SPEAKER_06: And then everything else is the plot.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: Michelle Pfeiffer is great at it.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: And the guy, he's really handsome.
- 26:08SPEAKER_06: And the guy is a guy.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: I remember thinking he was really handsome.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: And he's British.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: He's like, oh.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: He is, yeah.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: Handsome British guy.
- 26:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 26:15SPEAKER_06: It's like British guy, but like 1950s.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, set like a little bit.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: He's like a preppy British guy.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:23SPEAKER_06: Um I suppose he dresses like how you like him.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, I do really like that style.
- 26:30SPEAKER_06: What do you think of the style?
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: I was like, he doesn't need to change, he's perfect.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: What are you crazy?
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: I remember thinking that.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: I said, this is we're not talking about Havana Knights anymore, sorry.
- 26:38SPEAKER_06: What do you think of the style in this then?
- 26:40SPEAKER_06: Like how they dress?
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: Um, I think it's like um, I think for some reason You're kind of dressed like like a Cuban Cuban.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, I've dressed like one of the Cuban men.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: Like an old Cuban man.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: I think it's really funny.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: I think the extras are all dressed like really off the time.
- 26:57SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: And then they're they're like, they're just not.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: Like she's just not.
- 27:01SPEAKER_06: He can get away with it just about.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because he's just wearing like a vest.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the vest.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: But she is very rarely dressed in like a 1950 style outfit.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: Like really rarely.
- 27:11SPEAKER_06: There's no way she would have got away with what she was wearing.
- 27:14SPEAKER_06: No, it's the 1950s, yeah.
- 27:16SPEAKER_06: It's 1958, this is yeah, there's no way.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:21SPEAKER_06: She's wearing like a skimpy dr, like a very low-cut skimpy dress.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so many, yeah, it's but and the dress, the style of the dress is so naughty.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: Like it's just like it's Y2K.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: Like it's full white.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's like Y2K fashion, yeah.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: And then they explain it away by being like, it's the maid's dress.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: And it's like the maid wouldn't wear that either.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: Like, also that's a very nice dress.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: Like, that's it's not like why are you taking it?
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: Like, it's obviously like means a lot to the maid, and you're just taking it.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: Like, it's not okay.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, no, they I think they really did not try at all with the costume.
- 27:55unknown: No.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: I like the outfits because I love Y2K fashion.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: But what did they get John Splattery wearing?
- 28:02SPEAKER_06: He was just wearing a suit.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's great.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: He could I love John Slattery.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: He's so handsome.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: Have you seen him in Sex in the City?
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: No, those are two of my favourite episodes.
- 28:10SPEAKER_06: Oh, he's only in two episodes.
- 28:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: He's Carrie's love interest.
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, it's really good.
- 28:15SPEAKER_06: I can say that.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: He's he's a politician.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: He's running to be New York comp troller.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: That makes sense.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: But my friend wanted to get me into Sex in the City.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: Like, for everyone she does, those are the episodes she chose for.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: Like, for everyone she chooses this other episode about like woman's empowerment and like how great it is to own load of loads of Hughes, which I also, to be honest, would have loved.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: But for me, she was like, Okay, I think this is the episode you should watch to get in.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: And it's just about how Carrie's dating a New York comp troller who's running for relation and he keeps telling her that she needs to register to vote.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Yeah, this is the perfect show.
- 28:45SPEAKER_06: This is the kind of man I want.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: That is my dream guy.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: Like that is fully my dream guy.
- 28:50SPEAKER_01: That's why she That is absolutely my dream guy.
- 28:53SPEAKER_06: Your dream guy is Tony Blair.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: But I know that he's gonna walk.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: I know, I know.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: But no one w no, we can't make this about this.
- 29:08SPEAKER_06: That's so funny.
- 29:11SPEAKER_06: Um Diego Luna, he he's like so he he was in like loads of stuff in the lead up to this.
- 29:19SPEAKER_06: So I knew kind of knew who he was.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: What else has he been in?
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: I only know him from Dirty Dancing Havada Knights.
- 29:24SPEAKER_06: I mean he's like from Rogue One.
- 29:28SPEAKER_00: Um It's actually really ridiculous that I only know him from Dirty Dancing Havana Knights in that in that game.
- 29:35SPEAKER_06: What had I seen him in?
- 29:35SPEAKER_06: I'd seen him in like stuff before.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: He's a really good dancer.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: Do they show off his dancing skills in Rogue One?
- 29:44SPEAKER_03: No, they do not.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's a shame.
- 29:46SPEAKER_06: But I was less than I don't know, maybe kind of mixed up with him.
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: What's the girl bidding?
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: What else did she bid in?
- 29:53SPEAKER_06: I couldn't find a lot of stuff that like she's not really done a huge amount of.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: I think Hollywood's a sexy.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:02SPEAKER_03: She was good as well, to be honest.
- 30:05SPEAKER_03: Oh was she?
- 30:06SPEAKER_06: It was in one day they did the movie.
- 30:09SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: That was like rubbish.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: I was like, what?
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: She was in the tournament.
- 30:16SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: Oh no, no.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: And Anna Hathaway.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: And Hathaway.
- 30:20SPEAKER_06: Vanity Fair, right after this.
- 30:22SPEAKER_06: Nicholas Nickleby.
- 30:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:30SPEAKER_03: Probably because they're pretty famous.
- 30:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:34SPEAKER_06: Uh in a Body Allen movie as well.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: What was John Slattery in?
- 30:40SPEAKER_06: What's John Slattery?
- 30:41SPEAKER_06: And he never ever.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: Okay, this is also a big problem, I think.
- 30:46SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: With the film Savannah Knights.
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: This is my only issue with it as well.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: I don't feel like her and the lead guy have a lot of chemistry.
- 30:54SPEAKER_06: They don't.
- 30:55SPEAKER_06: I wanted to say this.
- 30:56SPEAKER_06: But they don't build on the chemistry either.
- 30:58SPEAKER_06: They just kind of just like.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they just throw them together and then it and like I know what they were trying to do the same thing that they do in dirty dancing, which is like where it's like they don't like each other and then they but they had loads of chemistry, even though they actually hated each other, but they had loads of chemistry.
- 31:12SPEAKER_06: Um but also there wasn't really a whole there wasn't much of they don't like each other than then they do.
- 31:16SPEAKER_06: No they kind of just like each other.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then also it's like the way that he feels is like really valid.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: It's like, yeah, she got you fired.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: Like fair play.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: And the way that she acts is like really weird, like to be like, I want to help you by making you do this dance competition with me.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: And it's like just give him money.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: Just give him the money.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: Like, don't what are you doing?
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: Uh so like her motives don't make any sense.
- 31:39SPEAKER_06: No, her motives make no sense at all.
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: She just it's like they've really shoehorned in the dancing, like she should have just wrote him a check, basically.
- 31:46SPEAKER_06: And it is one of those things of like, oh, and this there's this dance competition coming up that'll earn you exactly enough money to it's really good, which is great.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: I love it when stuff I love that so much.
- 31:56SPEAKER_06: And then you get to go to America as well.
- 31:58SPEAKER_06: That makes no sense, yeah.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: Um, and at the end where she's like, and I knew I would dance with him again, and it's like, nah, you won't.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: Like, literally, like, there's gonna be an embargo on this country until 2012.
- 32:09SPEAKER_00: Like, you'll absolutely never see him again.
- 32:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I would love a sequel now.
- 32:16SPEAKER_00: A sequel to her life where she's like, What?
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, him, oh yeah.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 32:21SPEAKER_06: I knew for a week.
- 32:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah, or 60 years ago.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: I lived in Cuba, like I forgot about that.
- 32:30SPEAKER_06: But one day with a fun holiday.
- 32:32unknown: Yeah, basically.
- 32:33SPEAKER_06: Is it even a year?
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: Nah, I don't know how long it is.
- 32:36SPEAKER_06: It's it's very quick.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: It's like in the middle of her senior year, she gets taken there.
- 32:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and then she leaves at just after Christmas.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: So like it's not very long at all.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: In that time, she like does a dance competition.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: A Christmas Eve dance competition.
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: Um, but my issue is that so her and the main guy have like no chemistry.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: They don't.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: And the big problem with that is that her and John's flattery have loads of chemistry.
- 33:00SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: They do have loads, you have loads of.
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: I'm so glad.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: I'm so glad this is being validated.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: They have so much chemistry.
- 33:08SPEAKER_06: It's kind of weird.
- 33:09SPEAKER_00: Yes, it is.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: They yeah, like they really have a lot of chemistry.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: I think it's John's flattery.
- 33:14SPEAKER_00: I feel like he has chemistry with everyone.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:17SPEAKER_06: Um but it's still weird to have that with the bottom lost.
- 33:20SPEAKER_00: And the problem is, like, then you're compared, you're like, oh, but they don't have like if she had chemistry with the main guy, you wouldn't you probably wouldn't know this again.
- 33:28SPEAKER_00: But it's because but she doesn't.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: Like it's like you're just like, what sparks are flying.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: And what I would have done in that situation was cut that dance scene.
- 33:39SPEAKER_06: Like the dance is weird.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's really strange.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: He doesn't need to it's too close for comfort.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: And they have too much chemistry as actors.
- 33:47SPEAKER_00: I would have watched that and been like, oh no, no, no, like we need to have them like maybe reading a book or something.
- 33:54SPEAKER_06: And she's supposed to be a bookworm as well.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 33:57SPEAKER_06: What's which immediately gets dropped.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 33:59SPEAKER_06: It's just like she's a bookworm, and then she's a nerd, doesn't have many friends, and then like immediately they drop that as soon as she meets him.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: Uh but yeah, the that that is the big the only issue, the my only problem with the film is that they should have cast the tree in the lead.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they should have cast him in the lead and they should have cast the other guy as the father.
- 34:18SPEAKER_06: Do you like the dancing in it?
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: Um, it's alright.
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: It's not, it's not like So you just like the romance stuff.
- 34:24SPEAKER_06: What do you what do you like in it?
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: I like that it is linked to the original film.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: I like that it is in my box set.
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: Like I like that it makes my box set look complete.
- 34:34SPEAKER_06: Like that's can you really call it a box set if it's two movies?
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: Yes, yeah, of course you can.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: Of course you can.
- 34:40SPEAKER_06: That's not really a box set.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: A box set is more than one DVD.
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: Everyone knows that the plural of DVD is box set.
- 34:46SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: DVD, box set.
- 34:50SPEAKER_00: People think it's DVDs, but that's crazy.
- 34:54SPEAKER_06: Whoa.
- 34:55SPEAKER_06: Who calls it DVDs?
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, so that's my favorite.
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: And obviously I love John Slattery in it.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: And I also I do like the outfits.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: Because I like uh, as I said before, Y2K fashion.
- 35:08SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: Um and um I like the mum as well.
- 35:12SPEAKER_06: I don't like the mum in it.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: I think she I think her reactions are so uh are like never they never make any sense.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: Like when she slaps her, it's so funny.
- 35:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah because it's like just because you gave up on your dream, and she just slaps her before she even finishes the sentence, and I was just like, let her finish.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: Let her finish.
- 35:30SPEAKER_01: You can definitely did not hear and process what she said to be slapping her.
- 35:34SPEAKER_06: She's that angry at her for dancing with a Cuban man.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:40SPEAKER_00: Um so obviously that's about racism, right?
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: That's about racist.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like I don't like racing.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: My mum's very racist.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: I don't like it.
- 35:47SPEAKER_00: They don't label it as racism.
- 35:50SPEAKER_06: The dad is so chilled.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he doesn't mind about anything.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: He's just like, no more lies.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: He's just like, yeah, I'm going now.
- 35:58SPEAKER_06: He's like, I might lose my job.
- 36:00SPEAKER_06: Oh well.
- 36:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's literally, yeah.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: But also to be like, she's like, I'm going to Xavier, and then he's just like, okay, but no more lies.
- 36:07SPEAKER_00: It's like, what this is the 50s.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: You're gonna let your girl just go to this guy's house.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's the 50s.
- 36:14SPEAKER_06: Like I think they forget that when they were right.
- 36:16SPEAKER_06: They forgot that when they were right.
- 36:17SPEAKER_00: Like literally, women weren't allowed to do anything unchaperoned.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: So to be like, and it would have been even worse in Cuba, like it would have been so much worse in Cuba.
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: So then to just have her like running around.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: And like all the time she spends, like doing all the extra dancing and stuff, and they never explain it.
- 36:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: She's just and but then they explain it by being like, oh, she's with the other guy.
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: And it's like, no, that also wouldn't have been okay.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: Like she was still not okay.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's not okay.
- 36:39SPEAKER_06: Like that's he's not suddenly trustworthy.
- 36:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah, exactly.
- 36:42SPEAKER_06: Especially he's so creepy.
- 36:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, he's really creepy.
- 36:45SPEAKER_06: He immediately gives like a creepy vibe, and like, how do they not see that?
- 36:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:50SPEAKER_06: What may they do and they just don't care?
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's the boss's son.
- 36:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: Gets away with it.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: Classic Nepo baby.
- 36:55SPEAKER_06: No, he doesn't.
- 36:56SPEAKER_06: Well, he does and he doesn't.
- 36:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:59SPEAKER_06: Like she immediately like as soon as she tells her her parents, they're like, Yeah, you can't, you don't see him.
- 37:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: But then he doesn't get away with it.
- 37:07SPEAKER_00: He does get away with it.
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: Like it's not like we see us come up and No.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:10SPEAKER_06: I thought something would happen.
- 37:12SPEAKER_06: There is that classic scene in a car where he tries something with her and then like that is a really classic scene.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: They have that very back to the time in movies.
- 37:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it is.
- 37:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they have that loads in.
- 37:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's like of that time.
- 37:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:25SPEAKER_06: Your favourite.
- 37:26SPEAKER_06: A lot of people's favourite.
- 37:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's what it's a great film.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: They and they do the 50s very well.
- 37:30SPEAKER_06: They do.
- 37:31SPEAKER_00: Very, very well.
- 37:32SPEAKER_06: Because they were closer to it.
- 37:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I guess.
- 37:34SPEAKER_00: It's true.
- 37:35SPEAKER_00: It's true.
- 37:36SPEAKER_06: They were closer to wait.
- 37:39SPEAKER_06: No, I was gonna say they were closer to it than we than we are to a Havana Knights being film, but we weren't.
- 37:46SPEAKER_06: 2004 is yeah, not that long ago.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: Yes, yesterday, really.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, you know what I realized today and actually like really terrific.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: Ed Milib Ed Miliband ran to be Prime Minister like almost ten years ago.
- 38:02SPEAKER_06: I thought it was longer than that, to be honest.
- 38:04SPEAKER_06: Oh, okay.
- 38:05SPEAKER_00: Like it literally blew my mind.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh, so I've been talking about Ed Miliband for ten years.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: I've been bringing him up in conversation where it's not relevant.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: The whole bacon age.
- 38:13SPEAKER_06: The whole bacon sandwich feels like so long ago.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, we don't need to talk about that.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: He actually had like a lot of other stuff going on.
- 38:18SPEAKER_06: I know.
- 38:19SPEAKER_06: I I have nothing wrong, I got nothing wrong with the bacon sandwich thing.
- 38:22SPEAKER_06: I don't care.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: I like him.
- 38:25SPEAKER_06: I like Miliband.
- 38:29SPEAKER_00: But Jubilee's got like a lot of the hits on it, right?
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: North Greenwich, the dome.
- 38:36SPEAKER_06: The dome?
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but Bermansey.
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: Bermondsey.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: Bermansey.
- 38:41SPEAKER_06: I'm I'm definitely coming back in during this point.
- 38:44SPEAKER_06: I wanna I wanna point out.
- 38:45SPEAKER_06: Ravagna calls the O2 the dome still.
- 38:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, of course.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: Like we have like a whole bit about it.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's quite old now.
- 38:56SPEAKER_06: That's probably why I haven't seen it.
- 38:57SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 39:00SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna do it now.
- 39:01SPEAKER_02: No, no do your bits.
- 39:02SPEAKER_02: I was gonna do that through.
- 39:04SPEAKER_04: Just me standing in there.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: So what do you think about this?
- 39:14SPEAKER_06: Um now that is as far back as dirty dancing is.
- 39:20SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, it is.
- 39:22SPEAKER_06: Back to the future is to uh the 1950s.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, that's true actually.
- 39:26SPEAKER_00: Which is weird.
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's really upsetting.
- 39:29SPEAKER_06: Did you go to it when it was the dome?
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I did.
- 39:31SPEAKER_00: And this is the saddest, this is this will make you cry, Yanis.
- 39:34SPEAKER_00: But I went and we've got pictures, and I've got like um and I have like vague flashes of memory, but I actually don't remember it.
- 39:42SPEAKER_03: Oh no.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: Is it that devastating that I went to the dome?
- 39:45SPEAKER_00: Like that is I remember it.
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: That is like truly cruel.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: That's why I'm gonna be able to have memories of it.
- 39:48SPEAKER_06: But you were like you're quite a few year than me, so like this.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was four when I went to school.
- 39:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:53SPEAKER_06: I was ten.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: There's like so many oh Ted's a good age.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: You definitely like I would have remembered everything when I was ten.
- 39:59SPEAKER_06: Uh it was a school trip.
- 40:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, really?
- 40:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 40:02unknown: Oh, cool.
- 40:02SPEAKER_06: That's what every school did at the end.
- 40:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they did, didn't they?
- 40:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 40:05SPEAKER_06: They just took everyone there.
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I went with my family.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: I remember being really scared of the body.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: Said Spree's the body.
- 40:13SPEAKER_06: I remember that.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: It's like just a giant body.
- 40:15SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: I've watched a lot of videos about the dome as well, and I've watched a lot of flash.
- 40:19SPEAKER_06: There was like, I just remember them being their like fake arcade games almost where you like you like roll a ball up.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: You know, like the Well, the money exhibition.
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: About money.
- 40:26SPEAKER_06: Maybe, I don't know.
- 40:27SPEAKER_06: So new Labour.
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: Like it's so new Labour time.
- 40:30SPEAKER_06: Yeah, there was a lot of new Labour stuff in there.
- 40:32SPEAKER_00: Oh man, I would have.
- 40:33SPEAKER_06: It was the height of New Labour.
- 40:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was the Height of New Labour.
- 40:35SPEAKER_00: It was great.
- 40:36SPEAKER_00: Oh god, just can't believe I don't remember it.
- 40:40SPEAKER_00: It's like so depressing.
- 40:42SPEAKER_06: I can't believe it's your favourite era.
- 40:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 40:45SPEAKER_06: It's so funny.
- 40:46SPEAKER_00: It is, yeah.
- 40:46SPEAKER_00: It's my favorite era.
- 40:48SPEAKER_00: And then Obama.
- 40:49SPEAKER_06: The Obama era I remember really well.
- 40:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, me too.
- 40:52SPEAKER_00: Like, who does it?
- 40:52SPEAKER_06: That was like That was when I started like focusing on politics.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: Well Obama.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:57SPEAKER_00: That I was saying I would have been 18, 19 years old.
- 41:03SPEAKER_00: I was 14, 13.
- 41:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 41:06SPEAKER_00: I remember watching the um creation.
- 41:08SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 41:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: It was so good.
- 41:10SPEAKER_06: Well, I was watching the results come in live as well.
- 41:12SPEAKER_06: Oh, really?
- 41:13SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, I was a bit young today.
- 41:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 41:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 41:15SPEAKER_06: It was very late.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:17SPEAKER_06: That was exciting though.
- 41:18SPEAKER_06: That was really exciting times.
- 41:19SPEAKER_06: And then since then.
- 41:22SPEAKER_04: I know, I know.
- 41:24SPEAKER_06: Let's talk about the movie a little bit more.
- 41:26SPEAKER_06: Let's talk about I'm gonna run through it a little quick.
- 41:28SPEAKER_06: Because there's not that much to it.
- 41:29SPEAKER_06: We can kind of run through it quickly, but like uh she basically she goes to it's set set in November November 1958, senior year.
- 41:37SPEAKER_06: So I'll write that down.
- 41:38SPEAKER_06: So yeah, so it is only a couple of months then.
- 41:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's literally one, it's two months.
- 41:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:46SPEAKER_06: Um and she's reading Jane Austen.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, a classic.
- 41:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah, which is like Which one?
- 41:51SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 41:51SPEAKER_06: Just says Jane, I'm reading Jane Austen.
- 41:55SPEAKER_06: It doesn't, she doesn't say.
- 41:58SPEAKER_06: Because I would have written it down.
- 42:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:00SPEAKER_06: Uh and it's and then it comes up based on true events.
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the Cuban Revolution.
- 42:05SPEAKER_06: No, not not not even that.
- 42:07SPEAKER_06: It's based on the producer.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: No, so that's so the original.
- 42:10SPEAKER_06: Oh, is that what you mean?
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so she wrote this story based on her experience.
- 42:15SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 42:16SPEAKER_06: But that's based on the Cuban Revolution.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then they took it and they were like, actually, dirty dancing.
- 42:22SPEAKER_00: Let's put dirty dancing in here.
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: That's so bad.
- 42:26SPEAKER_00: It's terrible, actually, because that would have been a really beautiful film.
- 42:29SPEAKER_00: Like, it would have been so lovely.
- 42:31SPEAKER_06: That would have been a great film.
- 42:32SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 42:32SPEAKER_06: They moved to Havana and then and she looks like, oh, your high school.
- 42:36SPEAKER_06: She was like, I don't speak Spanish.
- 42:37SPEAKER_06: My your high sch my high school French won't help.
- 42:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 42:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no shit.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's weird that she's doing French in America, but there we go.
- 42:45SPEAKER_06: Like I mean I did I did languages in school.
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: No, that she was doing French, like, and not Spanish in America.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: But then I see it.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: It was the 50s.
- 42:53SPEAKER_00: It was the 50s, so they would have been doing it.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: It was actually fine, yeah.
- 42:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I guess I see what you mean.
- 42:57SPEAKER_00: That's the only historically accurate thing they've done.
- 43:00SPEAKER_06: I was gonna say you didn't you must have done French at school.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I did French at school, but we live in the UK.
- 43:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:04SPEAKER_00: So it's like there.
- 43:05SPEAKER_06: I did French, I did loads of languages at school.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I did French and Spanish.
- 43:09SPEAKER_06: I did French, Spanish, and Japanese.
- 43:13SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you did do loads.
- 43:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:16SPEAKER_06: And German.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 43:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: Was it like a language school?
- 43:20SPEAKER_06: It was called a language school, yeah.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 43:23SPEAKER_00: So it was.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: Was it like a it was very loosely a language.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, alright.
- 43:27SPEAKER_00: That's really cool actually.
- 43:28SPEAKER_06: So yeah, French and German until GCSE.
- 43:31SPEAKER_06: No, until year nine.
- 43:32SPEAKER_06: And then I dropped German and took Spanish for French French and Spanish for GCSE.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: That's good.
- 43:38SPEAKER_06: And then I did like a Japanese lesson once every two weeks.
- 43:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, that is really cool.
- 43:43SPEAKER_06: So we learnt nothing of Japanese because we learned once every two weeks we could go in and learn one hour every two weeks.
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:48SPEAKER_06: So you can't learn in that time.
- 43:50SPEAKER_00: Um what was I gonna say?
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I think that uh with this film as well.
- 43:56SPEAKER_00: Ah, forget it.
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: Oh, sorry.
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: No, it'll come to me, wouldn't it?
- 44:00SPEAKER_06: About high school French and No, no, before that.
- 44:03SPEAKER_06: Moving to Havana and Jane Austen and based on true events.
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay, no, keep going.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: Let's go forward.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: That's yeah.
- 44:09SPEAKER_06: Um but she gets there, and like that guy Jay, this guy, James, who's like the son of uh her dad's boss, yeah, uh, is immediately interested in her.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: But only because she thought, of course, like that's a classic thing, like the new girls here.
- 44:24SPEAKER_06: Like and then her sister is like there as well.
- 44:28SPEAKER_06: Her sister's supposed to be the cool one, I think, but like they don't really touch on it after that.
- 44:32SPEAKER_00: So the thing is, is that this is what they've done is they've taken this woman's book or this woman's uh screenplay, yeah, and they've literally taken the plot of the first dirty dancing film and tried to put it in there.
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: So like a lot of the there's like direct parallels.
- 44:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: So in the in Dirty Dancing, it's the older sister, she's a bookworm.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she wants to join the Peace Corps, but it's like also it's like a lot more character development, and you believe it.
- 44:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then it's a dance.
- 44:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, and then and the the younger sister who's like uh like a little bit more like superficial and a bit more flighty.
- 45:03SPEAKER_06: I mean, that is still the same here because she's the older sister.
- 45:05SPEAKER_06: Exactly, it's exactly the same, yeah.
- 45:07SPEAKER_00: It's exactly the same.
- 45:07SPEAKER_00: And then she doesn't get on with the mum, but she gets on very well with the dad.
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, exactly the same.
- 45:12SPEAKER_00: Like it's the same, it's the same.
- 45:13SPEAKER_00: They've taken that plot and put it here, basically, yeah.
- 45:16SPEAKER_06: And then, yeah, she wants to.
- 45:18SPEAKER_06: We learn that Fidel Castro is leading a revolution.
- 45:20SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes, good.
- 45:22SPEAKER_06: Shoehorning that.
- 45:22SPEAKER_00: It's a very important bit of exposition.
- 45:27SPEAKER_06: That's all they say about it.
- 45:29SPEAKER_00: Very important.
- 45:30SPEAKER_06: You don't learn anything about it, you just learn that's happening.
- 45:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, which is good.
- 45:34SPEAKER_02: It's good to know, yeah.
- 45:35SPEAKER_06: Um, but what what happens?
- 45:38SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 45:39SPEAKER_06: James, James, so and James invites James is the uh you're right for time.
- 45:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:44SPEAKER_06: Uh James invites her along to dance to to sit with them and everything.
- 45:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:51SPEAKER_00: He's such an obvious creep as well.
- 45:53SPEAKER_00: It's like not even because they have a creep in the in dirty dancing.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:59SPEAKER_00: They have two guys in dirty dancing.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: One of them is a creep and one of them is kind of like a nerd.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: And the creep goes for the younger sister, and the nerd goes for her.
- 46:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: Which is actually like way more believable that is, yeah.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:14SPEAKER_06: And then you find out that um not find out, but you see Jan, this is where January Jones character is sitting, and she's like racist to the waiter, Diego Luna.
- 46:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 46:22SPEAKER_06: Have you yeah?
- 46:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 46:24SPEAKER_06: Um and then she tries to speak and then she comes over and apologizes and tries to speak like broken Spanish, and he's like, I speak English.
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she got the microaggression called out.
- 46:33SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 46:36SPEAKER_00: Four years to a barber, so yeah.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: To the end of racism.
- 46:44SPEAKER_06: And then twelve years to the racism.
- 46:47SPEAKER_01: Racism came back in a big way.
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: It did come back in a big way.
- 46:52SPEAKER_01: We thought it was gone, it came back, like, okay.
- 46:57SPEAKER_06: Um but there's a whole load of stuff where she's like trying to go home after school and then she misses the bus.
- 47:04SPEAKER_00: The bus.
- 47:04SPEAKER_00: She misses the bus, yeah.
- 47:05SPEAKER_06: Or not just the car that was gonna take her.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: There's a yeah, there's a bus, she was gonna get it, and then she misses it, so she has to walk home.
- 47:11SPEAKER_06: She has to walk home and she walks home for like an hour and she gets lost.
- 47:14SPEAKER_06: But then she walks into like him in a into the square where he's dancing.
- 47:17SPEAKER_06: Where they're all dancing.
- 47:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 47:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:19SPEAKER_00: Which I just don't believe to be a thing that happened.
- 47:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 47:23SPEAKER_06: In revolutionary cube.
- 47:26SPEAKER_06: At like three feet.
- 47:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:28SPEAKER_00: He's literally just lost his job as well.
- 47:30SPEAKER_06: Oh, is that no, it's no, he hasn't lost his job.
- 47:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he hasn't lost it.
- 47:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:34SPEAKER_06: Um, she walks and then he offers to walk her home.
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: And she's just like, yeah, okay.
- 47:38SPEAKER_06: She's just completely lost.
- 47:39SPEAKER_06: She's like, You're walking for an hour, I'll just keep walking.
- 47:41SPEAKER_06: And he's like, No, you're gonna continue to get lost.
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:45SPEAKER_06: Um, and he's like, I've never seen dancing like that.
- 47:49SPEAKER_00: And it's like pretty like, it's nice, like the dancing is good.
- 47:52SPEAKER_00: It's just like dancing.
- 47:54SPEAKER_00: Like, what do you mean you've never seen it?
- 47:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: Oh well, I guess it was a probably had it, yeah.
- 47:59SPEAKER_06: But then as they're walking home, there's a police riot because of the revolution after you.
- 48:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 48:04SPEAKER_06: And then so they have to like abandon and like run away.
- 48:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:09SPEAKER_03: And then, yeah, so like she Where is this now?
- 48:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:15SPEAKER_06: And she goes home and she's like, uh she says something about it's the it's not the rebels you should be worried about.
- 48:23SPEAKER_06: Because they're like the they're the ones revolting, and she's like, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 48:26SPEAKER_06: The parents are scared.
- 48:27SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 48:27SPEAKER_00: And she's like, Oh yeah, yeah, she's very woke all of a sudden.
- 48:30SPEAKER_06: Yeah, she's like and I I like she starts dancing uh with him, and I was like and I wrote down this is like very Save the Last Dance Wibes to her dancing.
- 48:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 48:40SPEAKER_06: Have you ever seen that?
- 48:41SPEAKER_06: No.
- 48:41SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 48:42SPEAKER_06: I feel like you would like that.
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: What save the last dance?
- 48:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 48:45SPEAKER_06: It's another two like 2000 dance movies.
- 48:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay, well then yeah, I would definitely like it.
- 48:49SPEAKER_00: I love all the 2000 dance movies.
- 48:50SPEAKER_06: Oh, it's like the peak of it, because it's like it's so Who's in it?
- 48:54SPEAKER_06: Julia Styles.
- 48:55SPEAKER_00: And who's the guy?
- 48:57SPEAKER_06: Uh Patrick John Patrick Thomas.
- 49:00SPEAKER_00: How old is he?
- 49:01SPEAKER_06: He's a lot older, but like he's playing.
- 49:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, you know what?
- 49:04SPEAKER_00: I have Oh, oh, he's playing 18.
- 49:07SPEAKER_06: He's playing 18.
- 49:07SPEAKER_06: Like, he can get away with it just about, but like he's a lot.
- 49:10SPEAKER_06: I looked it up and he's like a lot older, he's like late 20s.
- 49:14SPEAKER_06: Because she's like around the age of that she should be.
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: Alright, I'll definitely watch this.
- 49:19SPEAKER_00: But it's this is like classic.
- 49:20SPEAKER_06: But the plot, the plot is that she's um a ballet dancer that goes to Oh my god, I've seen so many clips of this.
- 49:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've seen so many clients.
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: I think I absolutely will.
- 49:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and she like wants to learn to dance straight.
- 49:32SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:33SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
- 49:34SPEAKER_00: I've I've definitely gotta watch this.
- 49:35SPEAKER_06: Kerry Washington's in it.
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, okay.
- 49:38SPEAKER_00: I've I've seen loads of clips of this.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I love it.
- 49:41SPEAKER_06: But the dancing is her dancing is so bad.
- 49:45SPEAKER_00: Yes, because I've that's what I've seen.
- 49:47SPEAKER_06: It's so bad.
- 49:48SPEAKER_06: And then she like adds hip-hop to her ballet dancing, and like, but then she like throws it all together.
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: When they throw it all together, I'm done.
- 49:56SPEAKER_00: I'm like, yeah, I'm like, we don't need to, we don't need diffusion, okay?
- 50:00SPEAKER_06: She's trying to go to Juilliard.
- 50:02SPEAKER_00: Oh yes, and I yeah, I think I've seen the dance audition for Juilliard.
- 50:08SPEAKER_06: She even like makes fun of it.
- 50:09SPEAKER_06: Like she did an SNL sketch about it.
- 50:11SPEAKER_06: Oh, really?
- 50:12SPEAKER_06: Okay, I've got to watch one of it.
- 50:13SPEAKER_06: Recently.
- 50:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:14SPEAKER_06: Um people like TikTok are all like all over it again.
- 50:18SPEAKER_02: Okay, I've got to watch it.
- 50:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:20SPEAKER_06: But yeah, I I'm surprised they haven't like I don't think this was like as big of a cultural phenomenon as like that was.
- 50:27SPEAKER_06: So like they haven't clung on the.
- 50:28SPEAKER_00: What do you don't think of out of night?
- 50:30SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:30SPEAKER_00: It was just like no one's.
- 50:32SPEAKER_06: How did it actually do it at the box talk show?
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: I imagine not well.
- 50:37SPEAKER_03: It made so it cost 25 million.
- 50:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 50:45SPEAKER_06: It made worldwide it made twenty-seven.
- 50:47SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 50:48SPEAKER_06: So it probably lost money.
- 50:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:50SPEAKER_06: After marketing, it probably lost money.
- 50:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, bloody hell, that's really not a lot.
- 50:56SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 50:57SPEAKER_06: Did you also, did you read who was supposed to be the two?
- 51:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there is like a really who is it?
- 51:03SPEAKER_06: It's uh Natalie Portman.
- 51:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:05SPEAKER_00: I remember Natalie Port.
- 51:06SPEAKER_00: Which makes sense.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: I can say that.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: And she would have been so good.
- 51:08SPEAKER_02: She would have been really good.
- 51:10SPEAKER_06: The guy they wanted Ricky Martin.
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: That would have been bad.
- 51:13SPEAKER_00: That would have been absolutely bad.
- 51:14SPEAKER_06: 2004 Ricky Martin.
- 51:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:16SPEAKER_00: Wasn't he like at that point uh cancelled?
- 51:20SPEAKER_06: Was he?
- 51:20SPEAKER_00: No, he wasn't actually.
- 51:22SPEAKER_00: I think at that point he was straight.
- 51:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I just think I think he just hadn't come out.
- 51:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 51:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:27SPEAKER_06: I don't think he was cancelled.
- 51:28SPEAKER_00: Why did he get cancelled?
- 51:28SPEAKER_00: He got cancelled recently.
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: For what?
- 51:31SPEAKER_00: For being a bit of a creeper.
- 51:32SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: Okay, well, unless I don't know.
- 51:34SPEAKER_00: I've got to be careful in throwing out accusations.
- 51:37SPEAKER_00: I mean it's possible, but yeah.
- 51:39SPEAKER_00: I hope it's not.
- 51:40SPEAKER_00: Well, well, you know what?
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: Cut any accusation I make about Ricky Martin.
- 51:50SPEAKER_01: I will not be sued by the Ricky Martin estate.
- 51:52SPEAKER_06: I'll just come back into that again.
- 51:57SPEAKER_06: So you know who was supposed to be in this then?
- 51:59SPEAKER_06: Like it was supposed to be Natalie Portman and Ricky Martin.
- 52:03SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 52:04SPEAKER_06: Which is wild.
- 52:09SPEAKER_06: It's just it's so weird.
- 52:11SPEAKER_06: Uh Ricky Martin in 2004, just weird.
- 52:14SPEAKER_06: Natalie Portman makes sense.
- 52:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:16SPEAKER_00: Ricky Martin wasn't an actor as well.
- 52:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah, he's also never been in it.
- 52:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah, he's not been in a film.
- 52:20SPEAKER_00: He can just live in La Vida Loca.
- 52:25SPEAKER_02: Stupid joke.
- 52:26SPEAKER_02: I hate to hate myself.
- 52:28SPEAKER_02: That's so yeah.
- 52:29SPEAKER_06: That's the only reason they wanted to cast him, probably as well.
- 52:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because he like spoke a bit of Spanish in a song.
- 52:35SPEAKER_00: He was like, perfect.
- 52:38SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 52:39SPEAKER_06: Also, they don't they wouldn't have matched at all.
- 52:41SPEAKER_06: That would have been worse than these.
- 52:44SPEAKER_00: John Slattery would have, of course, had excellent character with Athley Portman.
- 52:48SPEAKER_06: The problem is putting John Slattery in anything.
- 52:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you gotta put him as the romantic lead.
- 52:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 52:53SPEAKER_06: Oh no, not but no, please, that would have been so creepy.
- 52:56SPEAKER_00: What, for this?
- 52:57SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 52:57SPEAKER_00: Well, like, and then age up the girl.
- 52:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, age her up, but everyone, you need to work around John Slattery.
- 53:05SPEAKER_06: Do you know what she should have been?
- 53:06SPEAKER_00: What?
- 53:07SPEAKER_06: She should have been a reporter coming over the report on the revolution.
- 53:12SPEAKER_00: In the 50s, in the 50s, a female reporter who was also a teenager.
- 53:16SPEAKER_06: No, she wouldn't have been a teenager.
- 53:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, make her an adult.
- 53:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 53:19SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're trying to figure out how we can set her up with John Sanders, how we can make use of this excellent chemistry that they had.
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: You were actually right.
- 53:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay.
- 53:25SPEAKER_00: Age her up.
- 53:26SPEAKER_00: So she's like late 20s.
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: So it's still not a great age.
- 53:30SPEAKER_06: But she could have been it could have been Jennifer Gray again.
- 53:33SPEAKER_00: No, it has to be this these two because they have really good they have really good chemistry.
- 53:38SPEAKER_06: No, she's too young.
- 53:39SPEAKER_00: Is she is she the actual age, do you suppose?
- 53:41SPEAKER_06: She's like not, she wasn't much older.
- 53:42SPEAKER_06: She was like 21 or something.
- 53:44SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, she's too young.
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: I thought maybe she was like an adult, like 28 or something.
- 53:49SPEAKER_06: No.
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:50SPEAKER_06: So she was younger than Dave Luna was.
- 53:52SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 53:53unknown: Okay.
- 53:54SPEAKER_06: Um but then they uh yeah, so they they I'm just gonna breeze through this.
- 54:00SPEAKER_06: There's it's not a lot that happens.
- 54:01SPEAKER_01: They uh There's a lot of dancing at this point.
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of dancing.
- 54:04SPEAKER_06: He walks her home and then Patrick Swayze teaches her how to dance.
- 54:08SPEAKER_00: The ghost.
- 54:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 54:09SPEAKER_00: The ghost.
- 54:10SPEAKER_00: How to do it.
- 54:10SPEAKER_06: He just might not be real.
- 54:12SPEAKER_00: Though he's definitely a ghost.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: He's definitely a ghost.
- 54:15SPEAKER_06: He only ever speaks to her.
- 54:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he does no one knows.
- 54:18SPEAKER_06: He's in two scenes and he only ever speaks to her.
- 54:20SPEAKER_00: He's definitely a ghost.
- 54:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 54:23SPEAKER_06: She teaches Yeah, he teaches her how to dance, I guess.
- 54:27SPEAKER_06: Yeah, Kyder.
- 54:28SPEAKER_00: Not really.
- 54:29SPEAKER_00: That scene, I'm like, yeah.
- 54:31SPEAKER_06: Did you just have to loosen up?
- 54:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:32SPEAKER_06: That's what he and then you find out there's a dance contest, which he makes her like Patrick Frazy convinces her to enter.
- 54:41SPEAKER_06: He's like, You sure?
- 54:42SPEAKER_06: I think you should.
- 54:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 54:44SPEAKER_06: Like, you've never seen her dance.
- 54:45SPEAKER_06: What are you talking about?
- 54:46SPEAKER_00: All you've done is like been like, okay, well, this is actually how you can improve your dance.
- 54:49SPEAKER_06: But even before that, he's like, tells her to dance.
- 54:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:53SPEAKER_06: Um, but this is when you find out heavier has been fired.
- 54:56unknown: Yeah.
- 54:56SPEAKER_06: Goes to his house, he's now a mechanic, I think.
- 54:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, he's uh he works in a chop shop, so they steal cars.
- 55:01SPEAKER_06: Oh, see, it wasn't very clear.
- 55:04SPEAKER_06: I know it was something illegal.
- 55:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, because of the way that they were like it's like you you made us do this.
- 55:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 55:11SPEAKER_06: Um and the the dance contest is on Christmas Eve.
- 55:14SPEAKER_00: Which I think is a terrible time to have a dance contest.
- 55:17SPEAKER_06: Awful.
- 55:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely awful timing for a dance contest.
- 55:21SPEAKER_06: It's not it's a dance contest, plus it's a a dinner for Christmas Eve with all the country club.
- 55:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 55:29SPEAKER_06: Plus it's something with all the cubes.
- 55:31SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's just like they're like, there's so many things in one event.
- 55:34SPEAKER_06: All in one go in one event.
- 55:36SPEAKER_00: And it's like you could have spread this out over the Christmas season.
- 55:40SPEAKER_06: And it's all on Christmas Eve.
- 55:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you don't need to do all of this.
- 55:44SPEAKER_06: And the grand prize is 5,000 and it the winners go to America.
- 55:47SPEAKER_02: America, ooh, yeah.
- 55:49SPEAKER_06: Which makes no sense.
- 55:51SPEAKER_06: Um and she said, like, we need a structure.
- 55:56SPEAKER_06: We need structure to dance, and he's like, You don't need structure, you just need to learn how to move.
- 56:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so this is this is the main clash that they have as a pairing.
- 56:04SPEAKER_00: It's like he wants to be loose and free, she wants to be like, ooh.
- 56:08SPEAKER_06: Which is also I think he's right, he's the right one though, because he's dancing, his dancing is good, hers is not.
- 56:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, that's why you think it's he's the right one, because her dancing is bad.
- 56:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 56:19SPEAKER_00: But she's the right one.
- 56:21SPEAKER_00: Because they do they they're literally entering a dance competition.
- 56:23SPEAKER_00: They can't just go there and freestyle.
- 56:25SPEAKER_06: No, they don't want to free it's not that he wants to freestyle exactly, he wants her just to be looser on the stage.
- 56:30SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, well she does need to loosen up.
- 56:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:31SPEAKER_00: It's probably all that J Los that she's reading.
- 56:35SPEAKER_06: Apparently she has square hips where he needs she needs circular hips.
- 56:38SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, that was I hate that stage.
- 56:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's awful.
- 56:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:43SPEAKER_06: I just wrote that her dialogue is so odd.
- 56:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's really odd.
- 56:46SPEAKER_06: The dialogue in this movie is really weird.
- 56:47SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it's all the dialogue is really weird.
- 56:50SPEAKER_00: Specifically her, though.
- 56:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:52SPEAKER_00: It is, yeah.
- 56:53SPEAKER_06: But yeah.
- 56:54SPEAKER_00: It's because like none of her motives make any sense.
- 56:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 56:57SPEAKER_00: Like they don't make any sense.
- 56:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 56:59SPEAKER_06: Like he just starts dancing with another woman and she gets jealous and he says, like, I didn't want to waste the music.
- 57:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 57:06SPEAKER_00: What is that?
- 57:07SPEAKER_00: What does that mean?
- 57:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's such a good excuse.
- 57:11SPEAKER_00: All the guys, guys, take note.
- 57:14SPEAKER_06: I didn't want to waste the music.
- 57:17SPEAKER_06: Music's not going anywhere.
- 57:20SPEAKER_06: Uh yeah, he's he just he says, like, you're afraid to let me lead you, and then like Patrick Swayze Swayze teaches her how to relax.
- 57:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 57:27SPEAKER_06: Another right instance, and he's like, uh He says, he says, like I can't remember who says this, but I wrote it down.
- 57:36SPEAKER_06: It's scary as hell to let another person touch that part of you, but if you do, it's worth it.
- 57:40SPEAKER_06: That's one of the lines.
- 57:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I remember that line.
- 57:44SPEAKER_06: Awful line.
- 57:44SPEAKER_00: Just so bad.
- 57:46SPEAKER_00: Um, but it means a lot.
- 57:49SPEAKER_00: But he's right.
- 57:50SPEAKER_00: Meaningless.
- 57:50SPEAKER_00: But he is correct.
- 57:51SPEAKER_06: Then they dance in the sea, and this is where you get the instrumental of time of your life.
- 57:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 57:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 57:56SPEAKER_06: Like an updated.
- 57:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 57:58SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 57:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 57:59SPEAKER_00: That's like the Well, this parallel movie that you've made where like everything that happens is the same, but a little bit more shit.
- 58:05SPEAKER_06: Like, speaking of, this is what first of all, she goes home, uh, and her dad's waiting up for her, and this is where you get like the stuff that the the the so much chemistry.
- 58:18SPEAKER_00: Unbelievable chemistry between the two of them.
- 58:20SPEAKER_00: Too much chemistry.
- 58:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 58:22SPEAKER_06: But then uh then there's like music playing as they dance uh uh afterwards, like when she's dancing with Javier, and it's a shit version of um oh the Shakira song.
- 58:35SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah! Without Shakira.
- 58:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:38SPEAKER_00: That which is crazy to have that song.
- 58:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 58:40SPEAKER_00: It's crazy, like put songs from the fifties because in Dirty Dancing, the original, they put songs from the 60s into the And it's really good music.
- 58:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 58:47SPEAKER_00: Put songs from the 50s into it.
- 58:49SPEAKER_00: Like it makes no sense.
- 58:50SPEAKER_06: They've taken the Shakira part out, just Wycliffe Sean and some other woman singing.
- 58:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, probably because they couldn't afford Shakira.
- 58:57SPEAKER_06: I don't know what it is.
- 58:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's weird, but then she sings the woman singing it.
- 59:02SPEAKER_06: So, like how Shakira usually sings in Spanish in that song.
- 59:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 59:06SPEAKER_06: This woman's singing in English.
- 59:07SPEAKER_00: This is like this feels like so classic naughty of them trying to appeal to like young people.
- 59:12SPEAKER_00: So they're like, we won't have any 50s, they're like, we won't have any 50s music, we'll put like hip hop in it.
- 59:16SPEAKER_00: And then take all the hip-hop out.
- 59:19SPEAKER_00: And it has to all be English so that they can understand it.
- 59:21SPEAKER_00: Like, oh, it's so bad.
- 59:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's I've just wrote about wrote down that like the whole thing is so it makes no sense this movie.
- 59:30SPEAKER_06: It's so anachronistic.
- 59:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's literally just because it's two movies thrown together.
- 59:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:34SPEAKER_00: Like it's dirty dancing and then uh like a movie about the Cuban Revolution.
- 59:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:38SPEAKER_00: And it's like it's a terrible idea to do that.
- 59:40SPEAKER_06: But they're doing both badly.
- 59:42SPEAKER_00: And the problem is like it just makes her it because like with the with Dirty with Dirty Dancing, you do actually have like a B story about like racism.
- 59:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:53SPEAKER_00: It does it.
- 59:54SPEAKER_00: I I need to rewatch it.
- 59:56SPEAKER_00: I might not agree with this, but I remember feeling like it was like relatively well done.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_06: The original?
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it is.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_06: From what I remember, I haven't seen it in a long time, but I remember it being well done.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_00: Um and they amped it up in the musical as well.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_00: It's like a much it's a much bigger plot point in the musical.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I guess that makes sense doing that now.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_00: Um, and then, but yeah, but in this, yeah, in this movie, it's like it's they don't not, there's not it's too big.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_00: The Cuban Revolution is too big of a story to make a B plot.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_06: And also a B plot that's so glossed over.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's huge.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_06: There's no mention of anything happening.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_06: It's like it just happens in the background.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_06: And it's and then it's like and then eventually there is there is the point where Castro takes over.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_06: And then they just leave.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_06: And then they go dancing and then they leave.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's literally what happened.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so like that I should talk about like they they The parents are furious about the fact that they find out there's Javier that he's she's dancing with not and not James.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_06: And then they get over it immediately.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, they really get over it very quickly.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_06: But you were talking about the slap scene as well.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, they were just so perfect.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_06: So that happens, and then like both of them immediately forgive each other.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's over, that's done.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_06: Um and she's like, I have new dreams now, and then they kiss, and it's Christmas time.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_06: The mum suddenly approves.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_06: I just wrote that.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_00: This is when I wrote The Mum suddenly approves.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_00: It's 1950s America, and the mum suddenly approves.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_06: Um I just wrote down there's zero tension in this movie.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_06: Everything gets sold so quickly.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_00: I wrote down immediately after they have to get to the Cuban Revolution.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_06: Like, yeah.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_06: You get to see the parents dance.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_06: It's kind of nice.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's it's and just John's Lattery has chemistry with everyone.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_00: Of course, yeah.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_06: Um, and then there's the riot and then the revolution.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_00: Well, it's really funny how it happens after their uh their dance.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_00: Also, they are the worst dancers.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_00: The other two the other two competitors that come up.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_00: The other two dancers.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they are definitely the worst.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_06: They are dancers.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_06: They wouldn't have won.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's just no way they would have won that.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_06: It happens immediately after the yeah, after the actual dance.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like they were just not as good as the other dancers.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_00: The other two are amazing dancers.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_00: They shouldn't have made the others so good.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_00: Like it's actually when I was watching it, I was like, oh, okay, well, then they'll be really, really good.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_00: But they just weren't.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_00: They're awful.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_06: And then, yeah, they the revolution happens.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_06: Castro wins, and then and then they sleep together.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_06: And they're like, we didn't win the concert.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_06: He did he's like, we didn't win the contest.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_06: And she's like, the constellation prize is pretty good.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_06: But it's such a gross line.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, really gross line.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_00: Obviously written by a guy.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_00: Like, obviously.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_06: And then they have to like come to the realization that he's gonna stay and she's gonna leave.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, which was always gonna be the case.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, of course.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_00: Like, where was that not gonna be the case?
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_00: If he won the contest, then he would have come on holiday.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_02: Like, they wouldn't, you don't win citizenship if you come on the holiday.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_06: That's so true.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_06: Like, I'm taking you with me, and he's like, I'm keeping you here.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_06: It's like, no, neither of those things are happening.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what are you talking about?
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_00: You're literally teenagers.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_06: Like, it's not and then it just cuts to on my last night in Havana, we were the king and queen of La Rosa Negra.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_06: And it's like, which is the club?
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this is I'm sorry, this is like no attempt whatsoever to make this scene look like the 1950s.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_00: No, this is the worst part of it.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_00: This is the worst scene for it.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_06: This is so 2004, it's unbelievable.
- 1:03:26unknown: It's unbelievable.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_06: This is when I'm talking about when the hip hop is playing in the club.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_00: And what she's wearing as well.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_00: It's like that's what are you talking about?
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_00: That's literally.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_06: It's been 2004 dances in a with 2004 music playing.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, surrounded by people dressed like it's 2004.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_06: And as the credits roll, they've just fully given up.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it just it looks exactly like Step Up in that, in that like you would think it was Step Up.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_06: This is just before Steph Up as well.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_06: This is like a year before all the years.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Step Up was probably inspired by that last scene.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_06: I don't think it was.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_06: I don't think anyone saw this, clearly.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_02: I did.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_06: Yeah, after years later as well.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_06: This movie is fine, it's watchable.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_00: I think it's straight to DVD as well.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_00: I feel like it's straight to D.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_06: It would be now.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_06: Well, I guess, yeah, it would be straight to streaming now.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_06: It'd be like, yeah.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_00: No, it wouldn't even be on streaming.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_06: You don't think so?
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_00: It'd be like a YouTube page.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_06: I mean, yeah, maybe.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_02: YouTube special.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_06: It's ranked as number 11 on Entertainment Weekly's top 25 worst sequels ever.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_01: That's not fair.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_01: Actually, maybe it's that's not fair.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_06: I don't think it's one of the I don't think it's one of the worst sequels ever.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_06: Uh I think it's fine.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_06: It's watchable, that's the thing.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_00: It was, it's really entertaining, and it's short as well.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_06: It's short, it really moves through it.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_00: That and that is what is fine about it.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_06: And as much as I complain, I really did like I like I enjoyed the dancing.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was good dance.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_00: It was good.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_00: It's not 1950s dancing, but it's very good.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_06: It's still a fun movie.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_06: I think it's just got weird things put together.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_00: I wish there would have been more on the Cuban Revolution, if I'm honest.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_06: I do too.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_06: I actually do.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_00: I wish there had been more John Slattery as well.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_06: That would have made it so much better.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_00: It would have.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_00: Like, I would have loved to see his arc.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_00: I would have to see.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_00: I would have loved to see the because like he obviously went through something as well.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_00: Like he had to pick his daughter over his work.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_00: I would have liked to say that.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_00: I don't think he had a chance.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_00: I don't think I would have actually liked to see him follow through on that rather than just being like, you come first, and then nothing.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I do.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_06: I wish we'd seen more about him dealing with the boss and it's like.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think that's I we wish that John Slattery was the main character.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_00: I actually do.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it would be a good thing.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_00: The more we talk about it, the more I think.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_00: He's great, I love it.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_06: He's such a good actor.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_06: He's really great.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_06: He's so great.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_06: He can be like really good dramatically, and he can be so funny as well.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's it.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_00: He's got excellent comic timing.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_00: Wow, he's great.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_00: But you need to watch him in Sex of the City.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_00: He's really good at those two episodes.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_00: Really funny.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_06: So I just watch those episodes.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, then after you watch it, you'll be like me, you'll be hooked.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_00: You'll be like, I've got to watch every single episode.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_00: It's really, really good.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_06: I've seen like part of the re the really racist movie.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, the the second film.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_06: I have no interest in watching this show then.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_00: The first film is oh, the show and the film was the first film was actually quite good.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_00: The second film is it's really bad that you start I'm not sure.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_00: I've just seen clips of it.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's not good.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_06: Like you would save the last dance, I've just seen clips of it.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that movie is terrible.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_06: Um so yeah, like this is that this is the fact that you're dancing Havana Nights.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_06: Do you think do you think if it had been a success, there would have been a sequel?
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_06: Do you think it's just because it was a f a flop?
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_00: I thought that there was no third film.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_00: The third film would have had to be set in the 40s.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_00: That would have had to be a prequel.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_06: Do you think they're a prequel?
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_06: Why would they keep no, they don't have to go back.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_00: No, they do.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_00: They have to.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_00: I want them to.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_00: I think that would be really good.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_00: Set in the 40s, they didn't look at, and it would have been made 10 years later, so it would have looked like 2015.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_00: The 40s.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_06: What do you think the next one's gonna be then?
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_00: Oh, the next one's set in the 90s.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so what do you think it's gonna be about though?
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_00: Um, they should just do the same plot.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_06: You know what?
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_06: Actually, do you know what my main issue is with this one?
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_00: What?
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_06: There's no lift.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's nothing.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_00: There's no big dance moving.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_00: There's no big dance.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're right.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_00: That is actually a huge problem.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_00: There's no big.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_00: All the dances are very like that build up to that big dance movie is like what makes the film so exciting.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_00: It's so great to watch.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_06: I've done that lift before and I've been I've been the You've been the first of being lifted.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've been the first of being lifted as well.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_00: Of course, we're both short.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_00: It is about height at the end of the day.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_06: And you got a picture, I've got a picture of me being lifted.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_00: I didn't.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_00: We it happened too quickly.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_06: I'll put it up for the for the video.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_06: I'll put it up for my picture.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_00: That's a good that bug.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_06: It's from I was I was like 20 or something like that.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_06: And we were in it was this like six foot five guy that was like massive, and he's like, wouldn't it be really funny if we lifted you?
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_00: And then you just did.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_06: I was like, Yeah, it would be kind of funny.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_00: It would, yeah, that would be.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_06: And then it was on like a trip, and then it went there, they were like, everyone kept calling me baby after that.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_00: And you never thought to ask them why.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_06: No, I knew why.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_00: No, that's the line from the film.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_00: Everyone called me baby, and I never thought to ask.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_06: It's how long since I've seen it.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_06: I don't remember the lines from it.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_00: I do really love the first film so much, it's like one of my favourite.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_06: Um on that, yeah.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_06: Let's talk about the reverse of this.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_02: What?
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_06: Uh so do you have a movie that's well reviewed and well loved that you actually think is a bad movie?
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, that I think is a bad movie.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, well, I thought it was well reviewed and well loved that I thought was a good movie.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_00: But that's not the reverse of it.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's really my Oh, that's my bad.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_06: Wait, what was it gonna be?
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_00: It was gonna be the deal starring Michael Sheen about Tony Blair and Gordon Brown's deal that they made.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, that one, the other one you suggested.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I just I just want to talk about the deal.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_00: I can you not see I'm trying to shoe all the deal.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_06: I'm like, But you said it was the middle of a a trilogy.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so the actually the first of the trilogy.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_00: So the first one is the deal, and the second one is the queen, and then the third one is the special relationship.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_06: I didn't realise that was a trilogy.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like a or is it like a loose trilogy?
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_06: Is it like a Stephen Freeze like loose truth?
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a loose trilogy.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_00: Right, got you.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_00: But it's got Michael Sheen portraying Tony Blair and all that.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_06: Got you.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_06: I've only seen The Queen, so I don't know.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_00: The deal is is better than the Queen.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_06: I mean the Queen is fine.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_00: The Queen is good, it is good.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_00: Like you've got the people's princess beach in there, you got like the Alistair, but the uh the uh the deal.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_06: Honestly one of my favourite the one that like nobody has seen.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_06: It's so good! Nobody's seen it!
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_00: But people who have who view it very highly as well.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_00: Okay, what film is really that people really like that I don't like at all?
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_00: Um I like a lot of um I don't really like any I don't like films about like weird boys, but like boys who are like a bit weird and creepy.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_00: So I think What does that mean?
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_00: Like I probably wouldn't like Saltburn.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, I don't like Saltburn.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_00: And I feel like that's it.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_06: Saltburn's so hitting people.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_06: So I like it.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I wouldn't buy you seen it.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_00: What else what other films do I hate?
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_00: Oh I don't like Titanic.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_06: That's a good one.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I really don't really I just really don't like Titanic.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_00: I don't really like many films that Leonardo DiCaprio's in.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_06: Oh, interesting.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_06: Do you not like him?
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_00: I don't really like him, yeah.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_00: I do I don't like Wolf of Wall Street either.
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_06: That's another good one to go with.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_00: But also, but I do love I do love 80s bilo shark culture, bilo cell high shark culture.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_06: You like American Psycho?
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, I hate American Psycho.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_00: I absolutely hate this thought.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_00: This is what I mean.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_00: I hate films about weird boys.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_00: That's American Psycho is that.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_00: Like I just I think it's I don't want to be.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_06: So Provagna lives with Erica Elo, who like loves all of those.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_00: Eric loves all the weird boy films, and I hate the weird boy films.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_06: That's like her vibe, is most is like American psycho.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can't stand American Psycho.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_00: I find it very like, I know this is the point, but I find it very unsettled.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_06: No, it is.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_06: It is.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_06: I don't like it.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_06: I don't really I don't love American Psycho.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_06: The book is I hate to say that this, but the book is a lot better.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_00: No, that's what people have told me, but I don't want to read the book and I don't know.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_06: But I also don't really like I don't like the book, but it is a better book than it is a film.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_00: What other films do I not like?
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_06: I don't like a lot of those, like and people always take the wrong message out of it.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_06: Same with Wolf of Wall Street.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_00: Well the Wolf, I like when they say oh, people always take the wrong message out of it.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_00: I'm kind of like, okay, but it really did glamorize that lifestyle.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_00: And then also like See, I don't think it does.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_00: No, because at the end, when you're like, you're not supposed to want to be like him and stuff, but then you remember that he has had a movie made about him where and Leonardo DiCaprio stars as the lead.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_00: So actually, yeah, his life is actually great and fine.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_06: But have you seen The Irishman?
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_06: Because I feel like that was kind of almost a gangster film, isn't it?
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_00: I do I love gangster.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_06: So it's a gangster film.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_06: But it's a it's kind of a thing of like it does the opposite of glamorising it.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_06: So it shows you like the worst parts, like why you would never want this.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but and I think Goodfellas does that as well.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_06: Goodfellas does that really and it's it's much like But like I think the Irishman does it in a way of like you see in them and you see them towards the end of their lives.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_06: And it's like you see like everything, all the failures and everything.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, I really want to watch this now.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_00: It's like three hours though, isn't it?
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_06: Four hours.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_00: Like a Bollywood.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_00: I love.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_06: But like basically that the whole thing is like I feel like it was almost him doing that after the reaction to Wolf of Wall Street.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_06: And him making that and going, oh, I don't I want to show this.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_06: Like, can't get any clearer than this.
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_06: Like, you do should not be glamorizing.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_06: This is not glamorizing them.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_00: I don't think because a lot of his films are like that as well, where it's like, you think this is like a lavish lifestyle.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_00: Like Goodfellas does it so well.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_00: Like at that time when the cops are coming and he's like high on Coke and everything, like that's such like you're just like, oh my god, his life is horrific.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_06: And that's another true story.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_00: It's a really good one.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_00: Well, Goodfellas.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_06: Great film.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_06: Good Fellas is great.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_00: I love gangster.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_06: But you don't like uh DiCaprio films mostly, like Titanic.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_06: What do you not like about Titanic?
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_00: Ugh, I just I'm like, oh we get it.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_00: We get it.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_00: It's gonna crash.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_00: Um what I don't know.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_00: Um I guess I feel like uh I don't know.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_00: I I just don't I guess it's the romance.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_00: Like it just doesn't I love I've I love rom-coms.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_06: You just don't like that one.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_00: As a romance.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I love I do love romance films.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_00: I loved One Day.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_06: The film or the TV show.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_06: But yeah, like the TV show is very different.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's really good.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_00: Um, but I um yeah, I don't know.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_00: It's just something about it, it just feels like a little bit inaccessible.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I get that.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_00: It's it's very white.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_00: It feels very like it feels like very white as a film.
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_00: Um and the very white film.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it is a very white film.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_00: I would I don't think there are any people of colour in that film.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_06: No, I can't think of any.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_00: No, I don't think there is one.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_06: Um three and a half hours.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, that's a long time.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, a lot of those, a lot obviously a lot of films made during that time have that.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_00: And a lot of my favourite rom coms are that as well.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_00: Like Bridget Jones has no people of colour in it.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_00: I love Bridget Jones.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_06: I love Bridget Jones.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's pretty good.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_06: Do you know what I found out the other day was like how much her flat would cost?
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's literally it's it by right by borough market, it's like her closest.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_06: But do you know what it was back then?
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_00: What?
- 1:14:25SPEAKER_06: You know what?
- 1:14:25SPEAKER_06: It was it was they worked it out, it would have cost 150 grand back then.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_06: So now it's but now it's like two million or something.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because of the shard.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_00: It's right by the shard.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_06: But like she could have bought it for 150 grand back then.
- 1:14:38SPEAKER_00: And then sold it for two million.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_06: Like because her she didn't have a great job.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_00: Well, also, she did have a great job.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_06: She did, but like she didn't.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_00: Remember when she was just finding TV jobs in the newspaper?
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_00: And like getting to interview, getting straight to interview.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_02: And then they're like, they're like, get on air.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_02: What?
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_06: It's like that's so 2000 culture.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_06: Oh god, everyone got a job and then like a high-paying job.
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_06: Doesn't matter what you did, you would have paid well.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_06: And then the markets crash, and I wonder why.
- 1:15:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's true.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_06: When houses cost 150 grand.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_00: Um maybe it's Kate Winslett's character.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's the problem is Kate Winslett's character, it doesn't feel like.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_06: Oh, I like her character in it.
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_00: I can't really remember it.
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_06: Well, I do like Titanic though, so I can't really Yeah, I just don't really like it.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I get it.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_06: I get why people don't like it.
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:15:30SPEAKER_06: I don't love it.
- 1:15:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, you know, I hate Avatar.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_00: I hate it.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_06: You just hate James Cameron films.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_00: I don't, yeah, I find them a sl maybe I find them slow as well.
- 1:15:38SPEAKER_00: Or like, or like just not.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_06: Avatar, I don't love.
- 1:15:41SPEAKER_00: Where the joke.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_06: Avatar's fine to me.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_06: Like Visually, it's great, and then like the story I don't like.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_00: But even visually, I'm like, oh, this is giving me a headache.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it gets a headache.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_00: It gave me a headache after a while.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_06: So I didn't see the second one.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_00: I don't really like Transformers.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_06: I mean, that's not well reviewed.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_06: No.
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_00: They made so many sequels for the first one, didn't I?
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_00: Uh, what else don't I really like?
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_06: I made sequels because they all made a billion dollars.
- 1:16:14unknown: Yeah.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_02: That's why they didn't made them.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_02: But they didn't get well reviewed.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_06: That's okay.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_06: I think we kind of talked about it, though.
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_06: We don't have to talk about like more than Titanic.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_06: Oh really?
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_00: But no, but I like it.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_06: It's only a quit.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_00: I've never thought about the films I don't like.
- 1:16:27SPEAKER_06: Why would you?
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_00: To be honest, like, I'll watch anything if it's a bit stylish.
- 1:16:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_00: Like I really enjoyed The Man from Uncle.
- 1:16:33SPEAKER_00: And I can't tell you I can't tell you what it's about.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_00: I can't tell you like I can't tell you anything about it, but I was because it's a very stylish film, I just have to let it wash over me.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_06: I find it so boring.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_00: It probably was, but that's what I mean.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_00: Like, I I I have a very low threshold.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_06: Like if something's a bit stylish, I'll have you watched the new gentleman series yet.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_00: I will definitely watch that.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_00: It's very stylish.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_00: I don't need much.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_06: But I didn't like the film, so I didn't go over it.
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_06: I didn't bother to watch it, but then like everyone.
- 1:17:00SPEAKER_06: What's that?
- 1:17:00SPEAKER_06: It's got Hugh Grant in it.
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_06: Are you Hugh Grant fan?
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, obviously.
- 1:17:03unknown: Yeah, of course.
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_00: I love Bridget Yeah, of course.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, of course I have.
- 1:17:08SPEAKER_00: Of course I am.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_00: He literally played Tony Blair.
- 1:17:12SPEAKER_00: Like he literally played Tony Blair.
- 1:17:14SPEAKER_06: Is love actually your favourite?
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_00: I love Love actually.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_00: My favorite Hugh Grant film is obviously Bridget Jones.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_00: Um, weird to call it a Hugh Grant film because it is but that's I love him in that.
- 1:17:25SPEAKER_00: And oh, and Patting 2.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_00: I think it's amazing about it.
- 1:17:27SPEAKER_06: Oh, he's so good in that.
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_00: He's unbelievable in that.
- 1:17:29SPEAKER_00: He should have won an Oscar for that.
- 1:17:30SPEAKER_00: That was so that scene where he's playing all the time.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_06: He definitely should have been I I stand by, he definitely should have been naughty.
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_00: He was amazing in it.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_00: It's unreal.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_00: Oh, and also he was in this really good um political uh mini-series where he played like uh closeted libdem.
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_00: And that's really good.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_00: What's it called?
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_00: A very British scandal.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_00: That's so good.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_06: I never saw it, but I know, yeah.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, really good.
- 1:17:52SPEAKER_06: Didn't he win like an award for that?
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_00: He should.
- 1:17:54SPEAKER_00: He was really, really good in it.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_06: And then he won like a golden globe for it or something.
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_00: Then Wishel is in it as well.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_00: So like Paddington reunion.
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 1:18:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_00: It was a different subject matter.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_00: Paddington about immigration.
- 1:18:08SPEAKER_06: It is.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_06: Well handled.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, very well.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_02: Can we handle that?
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we can end that.
- 1:18:20SPEAKER_06: No, but first I do need to talk about um yeah.
- 1:18:23SPEAKER_06: Um thank you so much for coming on.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, thanks for having me.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, of course.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_06: It's been really fun.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_06: Uh do you have anything you want to promote at the moment?
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_06: Oh, I think.
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_06: How can we find you online as well?
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, so I um Provanyopile69 on uh on Instagram.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, Provani PillA on Twitter or Netz.
- 1:18:39SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't use it though.
- 1:18:40SPEAKER_00: So Yeah, nobody really uses it anymore.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_00: So I don't yeah.
- 1:18:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah, thanks so much for coming on.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_06: Oh no, thanks for having me.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_06: Um else was I gonna say?
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_06: No, that's it.
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, cool.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_00: Thanks, yeah.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_00: This this is so fun.
