0:23
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I agree.
0:24
SPEAKER_00: Alright, so I tell you, I really enjoyed the show last week, right?
0:28
SPEAKER_02: We did out in a country that was a blast.
0:31
SPEAKER_00: And I'm not sure how we're gonna talk about that, honestly.
0:34
SPEAKER_00: But I I do the challenge on the I don't know if this will be hard to do the last show.
0:43
SPEAKER_02: Or it's it's completely different.
0:45
SPEAKER_02: So like we just gotta set it at the beginning of the show now for something completely different.
0:49
SPEAKER_02: This is another sort of subgenre from the 70s and 80s and beyond.
0:54
SPEAKER_02: This is synth pop.
0:58
SPEAKER_02: Synthes like synthetic.
1:00
SPEAKER_00: Synthesis.
1:01
SPEAKER_02: Synth.
1:02
SPEAKER_02: The first song I'm gonna play, you like I have a list.
1:05
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
1:06
SPEAKER_02: Synthetic pop.
1:07
SPEAKER_02: And the first song I'm gonna play, you absolutely are gonna know it.
1:10
SPEAKER_00: Alright, I'm ready, let's do it.
1:16
SPEAKER_10: Summers in full swing, WC is making it even hotter with some great tonnage.
1:22
SPEAKER_10: Uh uh, I mean tunage.
1:24
SPEAKER_10: Sorry, Dave, didn't mean to bring you into this.
1:26
SPEAKER_10: Sit back, grab a cup of something, and crank it up.
1:30
SPEAKER_10: WC is on the air exclusively on KSJE.
1:44
SPEAKER_08: Sweet dreams are made of ears.
1:48
SPEAKER_08: Who am I to disagree?
1:51
SPEAKER_08: I travel the world and the seven seeds.
1:56
SPEAKER_08: Everybody's looking for something.
1:59
SPEAKER_08: Some of them want to use you.
2:03
SPEAKER_08: Some of them want to get used by you.
2:07
SPEAKER_08: Some of them want to abuse you.
2:11
SPEAKER_08: Some of them want to be abused.
2:30
SPEAKER_08: Whoever might do disagree.
2:34
SPEAKER_08: Travel the world and step and seeds.
2:38
SPEAKER_08: Everybody's looking for something.
3:27
SPEAKER_08: Some of them want to get used by you.
3:31
SPEAKER_08: Some of them want to use you.
3:35
SPEAKER_08: Some of them want to be able.
5:09
SPEAKER_00: I I love Annie Lennox.
5:10
SPEAKER_00: I'm just gonna say me too.
5:12
SPEAKER_02: Oh gosh.
5:14
SPEAKER_02: As you know, she trips my drinkers.
5:16
SPEAKER_02: She oh she's got so many good iconic songs and obviously styled.
5:21
SPEAKER_02: You know, as you know, during the 2020s, I went a little wild and cut my hair and dyed it in copper.
5:28
SPEAKER_02: Very much inspired by Annie Lennox at that time in that music world.
5:33
SPEAKER_00: If you're gonna be inspired by someone, she would be amazing.
5:36
SPEAKER_02: It was a little bit of her and a little bit of David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust.
5:40
SPEAKER_02: I kind of miss those days, but as a teacher, it's harder to just cut your hair off and dye it.
5:46
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I can't, yeah, I can't see the show enough.
5:48
SPEAKER_00: Maybe but I don't know.
5:49
SPEAKER_02: The kids would be a little thrown off.
5:51
SPEAKER_02: Hey Dave, how's it going?
5:52
SPEAKER_00: Good.
5:55
SPEAKER_00: I'm Ren.
5:56
SPEAKER_00: And um we're we're doing what are we gonna call this show?
5:59
SPEAKER_00: I mean, we should just call it.
6:05
SPEAKER_02: I thought that was a great intro to it because it's synthpop, right?
6:09
SPEAKER_02: Very much synonymous with the 80s.
6:12
SPEAKER_02: Though it it started in the 70s and it you know it's still going today.
6:21
SPEAKER_02: It's got that retro sound, it's got that fun video game sound, synthetic.
6:26
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I've got a bit of a description if you let me know.
6:32
SPEAKER_02: Which is funny because I think the last 45 seconds it was just me talking about.
6:37
SPEAKER_02: If you're not sick of my voice yet, Synth is a genre built on a simple trade.
6:43
SPEAKER_02: Guitars for the synthesizers is the primary instrument.
6:47
SPEAKER_02: It emerged in the late 70s, um, early 80s out of the new wave, and it leaned into the cold electronic textures.
6:58
SPEAKER_02: Um baseline and vocals that feel just a little bit.
7:17
SPEAKER_02: It is S Y N P A.
7:20
SPEAKER_02: Yes, it's very close.
7:24
SPEAKER_02: Yes, precisely that Darth Vader would have listened to, it probably would have been a metal.
7:36
SPEAKER_00: You are the father.
7:40
SPEAKER_02: He he loved his Astromax.
7:43
SPEAKER_02: That's something that you learn about uh Anakin Skywalker, who of course is Darth Vader.
7:47
SPEAKER_02: Maybe the fourth was not that long ago, and as you know, I love Star Wars.
7:50
SPEAKER_02: I've got a Star Wars tattoo behind my ears.
7:53
SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, Anakin Skywalker was a bad thing.
7:56
SPEAKER_00: I do.
7:57
SPEAKER_00: It's the vessel of what's his name?
8:00
SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna make you guess it.
8:02
SPEAKER_00: Well it was Hurricane Ford, but yeah, I don't remember the vessel.
8:07
SPEAKER_00: There we go.
8:08
SPEAKER_02: Or some people call it the aluminum, the aluminum falcon.
8:12
SPEAKER_02: Because it's fallen apart like it's made out of aluminum.
8:19
SPEAKER_02: Um I definitely have some classic artists.
8:25
SPEAKER_02: Um, so uh I'm gonna start it off.
8:35
SPEAKER_02: One of those one.
8:38
SPEAKER_02: The most famous.
8:39
SPEAKER_02: But I I think some of these other songs you might have heard, and if you haven't heard them, hopefully you like it.
8:44
SPEAKER_00: You started it off just right because I do I do love it.
8:48
SPEAKER_02: Perfect.
8:48
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so this is Erasure.
8:50
SPEAKER_02: I played you a little bit of this song and you said you liked it, so let's see if you like it.
8:53
SPEAKER_02: This is a little respect.
8:54
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I love this song.
8:56
SPEAKER_00: I've heard it before, yeah.
8:57
SPEAKER_00: There you go.
8:57
SPEAKER_00: Good tune.
8:58
SPEAKER_00: Way to go, Rip.
9:00
SPEAKER_08: I try to discover a little something to make me sweeter.
9:08
SPEAKER_08: Obey the refrain from breaking my heart.
9:16
SPEAKER_08: I'm so in love with you.
9:20
SPEAKER_05: I'll be forget, give me no beat.
9:27
SPEAKER_05: Why you make me wait for you?
9:31
SPEAKER_08: Give me no debt, give me no debt, give me no debt, give me no sound.
12:23
SPEAKER_10: Is that even possible?
12:25
SPEAKER_10: Stick with W U C on K SJE to find out.
17:21
SPEAKER_00: You know, we gotta stop that.
17:23
SPEAKER_02: I'm really enjoying ours us harmonizing recently.
17:26
SPEAKER_02: We've been getting good at it.
17:27
SPEAKER_00: You know, when that song started, I thought that was Annie Linux, but it's not.
17:31
SPEAKER_02: It's kind of got that same vibe.
17:32
SPEAKER_02: It's from the same time.
17:33
SPEAKER_02: That was Bronsky Beat with Small Town Boy.
17:36
SPEAKER_00: Brownski beat?
17:37
SPEAKER_00: Bronsky beat.
17:38
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
17:39
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
17:39
SPEAKER_02: And that went, I don't know if it went viral on TikTok, but it got kind of popular on TikTok for a while, so it made a research.
17:47
SPEAKER_00: I'm loving the music.
17:48
SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
17:49
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
17:49
SPEAKER_02: I've I've got a Ren Rant for us actually about music.
17:53
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
17:54
SPEAKER_00: And you know, Zeb was so proud of his new intro for you and stuff, so I'm anxious.
17:58
SPEAKER_02: I love it.
17:59
SPEAKER_02: It sounds great.
18:00
SPEAKER_02: Let's let the folks at home listen.
18:05
SPEAKER_10: When it comes to ranting on entertainment, movies, TV shows, etc., move over Sisco and Ebert.
18:14
SPEAKER_10: It's time for Ren Rance.
18:18
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's right.
18:19
SPEAKER_02: There's a new name in movie reviewing now.
18:25
SPEAKER_02: I was gonna have you say move over Mike and Jay, but I don't think people know them as much.
18:30
SPEAKER_02: They're movie reviewers that I like, but anyway, I'm talking about a movie that came out years ago.
18:35
SPEAKER_02: Uh it's Trolled World Tour from 2020.
18:39
SPEAKER_02: It's an American animated jukebox musical comedy film directed by uh Walt Dorn, and it has a great cast.
18:47
SPEAKER_02: It has Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Rachel Bloom, Sam Rockwell, and it's got special appearances by all sorts of artists like Ozzie Osborne, Kelly Clarkson, George Clinton, and Mary Jane Blythe, just to name a few.
18:59
SPEAKER_02: It follows it's a sequel to the first trolls movie.
19:01
SPEAKER_02: It follows the trolls Queen Poppy and Ranch, who discover that there are six different troll tribes, each representing a unique music genre.
19:10
SPEAKER_02: When the hard rock trolls, led by Queen Barb, threatened to destroy the other music genres.
19:16
SPEAKER_02: Poppy and her friends embarked on a quest to unite the trolls and save their diverse melodies from extinction.
19:22
SPEAKER_02: That was a very long description.
19:24
SPEAKER_02: It's a fabulously entertaining movie for any and all ages, genuinely funny and heartwarming, great musical performances.
19:31
SPEAKER_02: All of the voice actors they hired are also singers, so it's not like they're just doing their best and you have to do it in there.
19:39
SPEAKER_02: Umes of diversity and the importance of the different groups of people working together, which I think are important to me.
19:49
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's really good.
19:51
SPEAKER_02: It's genuinely funny as an adult.
19:52
SPEAKER_02: I rewatched it recently with a student of mine because it's one of his favorite movies.
19:57
SPEAKER_02: And I was like, This is good.
19:59
SPEAKER_02: So please, if you like any animated movies, watch it.
20:02
SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'll do it.
20:05
SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna hold you to it, Dave.
20:09
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, you got a little bit of lead in that.
20:11
SPEAKER_00: Go ahead and get started now.
20:12
SPEAKER_00: We can talk a little bit.
20:14
SPEAKER_10: That's Hollywood, baby.
20:18
SPEAKER_10: Now you have the skill back to the show.
21:39
SPEAKER_07: But I have no fear.
21:47
SPEAKER_08: There's something inside you.
21:52
SPEAKER_08: It's hard to explain.
22:38
SPEAKER_07: I want you drive to through what I'm not here.
22:53
SPEAKER_07: We don't want to fear.
22:59
SPEAKER_07: I'm gonna wear it.
23:04
SPEAKER_07: But I have no fear.
23:17
SPEAKER_08: It's hard to spend you.
23:27
SPEAKER_08: But you're still too excited.
23:48
SPEAKER_08: But you're still the same.
23:54
SPEAKER_08: There's something inside you.
23:56
SPEAKER_08: There's something inside you.
23:59
SPEAKER_08: It's hard to explain.
24:02
SPEAKER_08: It's hard to explain.
24:58
SPEAKER_00: To me, it was kind of depressing.
25:01
SPEAKER_02: Well, it's supposed to synthpop, especially these days.
25:04
SPEAKER_02: Back in the 80s, I imagine it was about dancing.
25:07
SPEAKER_02: But now it's definitely about that kind of like gloomy nostalgia of like driving late at night and making a call on a drone on a on a payphone.
25:16
SPEAKER_02: You know, I don't think I've ever made a call on a payphone.
25:20
SPEAKER_00: It's really frustrating if you don't have recorders.
25:25
SPEAKER_00: We're having a great show.
25:29
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
25:30
SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say the other word, but I'll like it.
25:36
SPEAKER_02: Oh, I like it.
25:37
SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's what we're calling.
25:40
SPEAKER_00: I love it.
25:48
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, what's his name?
25:51
SPEAKER_00: Pillsbury.
25:52
SPEAKER_00: Pillsbury Doughboy.
25:53
SPEAKER_02: There you go.
25:53
SPEAKER_02: That's him.
25:54
SPEAKER_02: That's it.
25:55
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm gonna send him a bill.
25:56
SPEAKER_02: If you need an image for what that looks like.
25:58
SPEAKER_02: Alright.
25:58
SPEAKER_00: More information next hour about how you can get involved too and maybe get a hundred bucks.
26:03
SPEAKER_00: And and get some more swag.
26:06
SPEAKER_02: I've got a pretty classic spin pop course.
26:08
SPEAKER_02: This is Tainted Love.
26:08
SPEAKER_02: This is Song Cell.
26:09
SPEAKER_02: This is such a great tune.
26:11
SPEAKER_02: I love the song.
26:13
SPEAKER_09: Sometimes I feel I've got to run away.
26:19
SPEAKER_09: I've got to get away from the pain you drive into the autonomy.
26:27
SPEAKER_09: The love we share seems to go nowhere.
26:33
SPEAKER_09: And I've lost my light.
26:36
SPEAKER_09: For I touch and turn I can't sleep at night.
26:41
SPEAKER_09: Once I ran to you, now I run from you.
26:50
SPEAKER_09: I give you all a boy could give you.
26:53
SPEAKER_09: Take my tears, and that's not nearly oh Saint the love.
27:01
SPEAKER_09: Say the love.
27:03
SPEAKER_09: Now I know I've got to run away, I've got to get away.
27:13
SPEAKER_09: You don't really want any more from me to make things right.
27:19
SPEAKER_09: You need someone to hold you tight and giving love is to pray.
27:26
SPEAKER_09: But I'm sorry I don't pray that way.
27:31
SPEAKER_09: Once I ran to Now I run from you.
27:40
SPEAKER_09: I give you all a boy could give you.
27:43

SPEAKER_00: Y A Z.
35:08
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
35:09
SPEAKER_02: I don't know why.
35:10
SPEAKER_02: It was sort of like how they just changed John Mellencamp's name to John Cougar because they're like soul better.
35:15
SPEAKER_02: So they called Yazoo Yaz in North America.
35:19
SPEAKER_02: That was a situation.
35:20
SPEAKER_00: I you know, and I don't know that I've ever I've heard the song, but I might have played it on one of my shows over the years.
35:26
SPEAKER_02: I don't remember, but it's a little long for the radio.
35:30
SPEAKER_02: I'm sure there's a shorter version, but I like the full version because you get all the breakdowns of the the roller coaster of the beat.
35:37
SPEAKER_00: NOS concepts, all one word, all lowercase, I-n-t-r-w-e-s-t-c-o-n-c-e-p-t-s.com.
35:46
SPEAKER_00: By the time this airs, we probably the the page should be brought up to date.
35:51
SPEAKER_00: We're making some major changes.

35:55
SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure about that just yet.
35:57
SPEAKER_00: Um and I'm very excited about the things we got planned, especially our uh our our swag that we're gonna have.
36:04
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
36:05
SPEAKER_02: I love putting my face on merchandise for people to know.
36:09

36:17
SPEAKER_02: You can wear us to the office and drink the coffee out of our faces, it'll be great.
36:24
SPEAKER_02: It's the digital age.
36:25
SPEAKER_00: And listen, we're always open for suggestions.
36:27

SPEAKER_00: But uh yeah.
36:38
SPEAKER_00: We've had a couple of uh actually three, I think, at this point.
36:41
SPEAKER_00: Uh I forgot about Valerie's rate of suggestions.
36:44
SPEAKER_00: We were looking at that show.
36:45
SPEAKER_02: The walk-up song.
36:47
SPEAKER_02: That one we we're still working on because we want to get people's input on it, and we haven't gotten enough.
36:53
SPEAKER_00: Let's do this.
36:55
SPEAKER_00: Uh because we haven't talked about it.
36:56
SPEAKER_00: But if you have a walk-up song, and what a walk-up song is basically what pumps you up to go into something.
37:04
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, to walk up to something.
37:05
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
37:06
SPEAKER_02: Or it can be something that they play for you to walk up on stage to.
37:09
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
37:10
SPEAKER_02: So something not only something that pumps you up, but something that maybe represents you and maybe pumps up the audience.
37:16
SPEAKER_00: So if you will uh send that to us, uh we'd like to have your voice.
37:21
SPEAKER_00: So uh send it to the you can do it uh you can do a voicemail through the uh through our webpage at Wisconsin.
37:26
SPEAKER_00: We'd love to hear from you for sure.
37:29
SPEAKER_00: And we'll make you a radio star.
37:31
SPEAKER_02: We will, if you want.
37:33
SPEAKER_00: And if you do, that's okay too.
37:35
SPEAKER_02: But if you want to be on the radio, it's easy.
37:38
SPEAKER_02: Easy peasy.
37:39
SPEAKER_00: Just email Easy Peasy Limit Squeezy.
37:42
SPEAKER_00: You know that we have over uh we uh right now, uh, as of this show, 292 episodes out there.
37:51
SPEAKER_00: 200.
37:52
SPEAKER_02: And didn't you say this is our 22nd episode of the season?
37:57
SPEAKER_02: And we're not even halfway through the year.
37:59
SPEAKER_02: Man, we just pump them out, huh?
38:00
SPEAKER_00: We do 52 a year.
38:02
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
38:02
SPEAKER_00: That's one a week, right?
38:03
SPEAKER_02: One a week.
38:05
SPEAKER_02: We don't take any time off.
38:07
SPEAKER_00: No.
38:07
SPEAKER_02: Because even the new sh even the shows we put out that are like clip shows, those are newly edited by you.
38:12
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
38:13
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
38:13
SPEAKER_02: So if you want variety, stick with us, folks.
38:16
SPEAKER_00: They all have our hands all over all our sticky little fingerprints.
38:20
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's right.
38:20
SPEAKER_00: So if you're if you're modest about being touched, it's a good thing our episodes aren't.
38:27
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
38:28
SPEAKER_00: Because I touch them a lot.
38:29
SPEAKER_00: I touch them vigorously.
38:31
