- 0:59Speaker 1: Email follow up to a previous Girl's Gone Christmas episode.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Very excited.
- 1:08Speaker 1: We have an email from Heidi who says, first of all,
- 1:11Speaker 1: I want to say how much I enjoy listening to
- 1:12Speaker 1: your podcast, which, guys, we never get tired of hearing
- 1:15Speaker 1: that I used to live in Colorado and prior to
- 1:19Speaker 1: that had never made a snow angel or really ever
- 1:22Speaker 1: visited snow as. I was born and raised in Orange County,
- 1:25Speaker 1: as were we. When you get a large amount of snow,
- 1:28Speaker 1: one to two feet of snow, you were able to
- 1:30Speaker 1: drop back like that and make a snow angel. However,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I am not sure if I would do it as
- 1:34Speaker 1: an adult. My daughter used to do it all the
- 1:36Speaker 1: time she was two to three years old. And then
- 1:39Speaker 1: she says, Wendy, I have also never watched a Hallmark
- 1:41Speaker 1: movie ever. I might try and watch some of the
- 1:44Speaker 1: ones you guys review and see if I actually like them.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Thanks again for doing the podcast, Heidi. Thank you.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Heidi was my high school best friend, so really, yeah,
- 1:54Speaker 2: you didn't know that.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I know you knew her, but I didn't know that
- 1:58Speaker 1: level of the connection.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Yes, I'm very excited that she's listening to our podcast.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It makes me happy. Thank you, Heidi.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Well, and I appreciate the snow Angel intel because we
- 2:10Speaker 1: don't know anything about Reagan's snow Angel.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Not one damn thing. Nope.
- 2:15Speaker 1: This week's episode is all about never kiss a Man
- 2:19Speaker 1: in a Christmas Sweater, featuring Ashley Williams and Nile Mater
- 2:24Speaker 1: as Maggie and Lucas.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Uh yeah, do you want me to read this synopsis here,
- 2:29Speaker 2: I do. Okay, Single mom Maggie is facing Christmas alone
- 2:34Speaker 2: until Lucas crashes into her life and becomes an unexpected
- 2:38Speaker 2: house guest. Together, they overcome Christmas while finding comfort in
- 2:43Speaker 2: their growing bond. Megan, it took me six hours to
- 2:49Speaker 2: watch this movie.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I have a full page of complaints about this movie.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I have quite a few too, but let's just jump in.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Okay, let's start with the compliments. Let's start with what
- 3:07Speaker 1: we loved about this movie. Let's let's go high in.
- 3:11Speaker 2: The Beginningay, can I start, please? I really liked Ashley Williams.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I think she's a great actress. I can't tell you
- 3:21Speaker 2: anything else she's been in, but I thought she was
- 3:24Speaker 2: great with the material she had. I think she could
- 3:27Speaker 2: probably handle a lot more like to me, she seems
- 3:29Speaker 2: very quirky and fun and maybe like a little bit
- 3:32Speaker 2: of a physical actress, you know what I mean, like
- 3:35Speaker 2: a physical comedy actress. I just thought this material was
- 3:39Speaker 2: real below average, but I agree. I like her.
- 3:45Speaker 1: She's definitely a Hallmark Christmas movie Darling, and so I
- 3:50Speaker 1: know her from that. I enjoyed her quite a bit.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Like you said, I think she was given a dud
- 3:59Speaker 1: of a script for real. One thing I loved was
- 4:04Speaker 1: at the very end of the movie, the video messages
- 4:07Speaker 1: from the troops. That's always like a heart string polar
- 4:10Speaker 1: for me, and I would have liked more of those.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Could I could have stood to have a little bit
- 4:16Speaker 1: more of that part of the movie.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Really, because they only showed two. They had one very
- 4:23Speaker 2: short one and then they had a long one. Who
- 4:26Speaker 2: was the dad of the little boy read? And I
- 4:28Speaker 2: think he had a sister, yeah, and that was very heartfelt.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I do think there could have been more storytelling around
- 4:36Speaker 2: that aspect.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Of the movie.
- 4:40Speaker 2: I thought that was really sweet too, And that little
- 4:42Speaker 2: boy read I thought was so cute. I mean, like,
- 4:44Speaker 2: how can you not feel for families who are not together?
- 4:48Speaker 1: You know, absolutely, that was the most touching part of
- 4:51Speaker 1: the movie for me, and I do think that saved
- 4:55Speaker 1: the movie for me, because otherwise it, like I said,
- 5:02Speaker 1: it struggled for me. But I did enjoy that. And
- 5:04Speaker 1: even the third video message we only saw. We didn't
- 5:08Speaker 1: see it, We only heard the audio of it, and
- 5:10Speaker 1: then we saw like shots of the audience, So I
- 5:14Speaker 1: would have enjoyed more of that.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Okay, what else did you like anything else?
- 5:21Speaker 1: I liked the exterior of Maggie's house, like her pretty
- 5:24Speaker 1: porch with her little fire pit.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I enjoyed that. Ah, we're really reaching what about you. No,
- 5:35Speaker 2: that's all I've got. That's the only two notes I
- 5:38Speaker 2: have under what I liked.
- 5:40Speaker 1: That's it for me too.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:47Speaker 1: In these movies, we've been tracking the niece count and
- 5:50Speaker 1: this movie throws as a curveball because it's not a niece.
- 5:53Speaker 2: I got a nephew. It's a nephew and our robotic daughter.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I was like, who's this. I've never seen a teenager
- 6:04Speaker 2: act like this. She was so sweet and kind and
- 6:06Speaker 2: then yeah, no.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Loving to both of her parents.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Not I haven't.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Okay, going back to the nephew thing. One thing I
- 6:19Speaker 1: think this movie did a lot of is if you
- 6:21Speaker 1: take every Hallmark movie trope, I mean, every single one
- 6:25Speaker 1: of them, and write them on a piece of paper.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I feel like this movie tried to do every single
- 6:30Speaker 1: one of them. And one thing we often see is
- 6:33Speaker 1: we have the niece or nephew character being mistaken for
- 6:37Speaker 1: the child of the main character. And of course that
- 6:40Speaker 1: happened here, and it took not very long. Was resolved
- 6:46Speaker 1: in the hospital. All Right, we're going to move in
- 6:49Speaker 1: to what is going to be the bulk of the
- 6:51Speaker 1: podcast for this particular movie, and that is this little
- 6:54Speaker 1: segment we like to call did you see that? When
- 6:56Speaker 1: we talk about questions, we have moments that really stood
- 7:01Speaker 1: out us and potentially some plot holes. I have so
- 7:05Speaker 1: much to say.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Okay, kick it off.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Okay, let's start with. I watched this movie with my husband,
- 7:11Speaker 1: and the number of children she had in her classroom
- 7:14Speaker 1: was nine.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Oh was it? I didn't even notice that. Ah, oh,
- 7:20Speaker 2: that's funny.
- 7:21Speaker 3: That was that.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Second grade classroom, not like preschool.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that scene actually made me really sad considering the
- 7:28Speaker 2: twenty twenty school year that we're in right now and
- 7:32Speaker 2: kids missing out on that like holiday excitement and the
- 7:35Speaker 2: things you do within your classroom. I was feeling a
- 7:40Speaker 2: little melancholy about that. But yes, I did not realize
- 7:43Speaker 2: she had nine students in her classroom.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Well, and there was some continuity issues because with the
- 7:49Speaker 1: number of kids, because later on, when they go to
- 7:53Speaker 1: the general, the commander, I didn't actually write down her ring.
- 7:57Speaker 2: The kernel, the colonel, the current Yeah.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Thank you, she's when they're trying to sell them their
- 8:03Speaker 1: idea for this holiday plan. She says, how many kids
- 8:06Speaker 1: are we dealing with? And they said they have nine
- 8:09Speaker 1: permanently enrolled, nine in what the base school? And oh,
- 8:17Speaker 1: I numbers don't add up for me.
- 8:20Speaker 2: See, I didn't realize that she was a teacher on
- 8:24Speaker 2: the base. I just thought they were she was a
- 8:28Speaker 2: teacher separately, and then she volunteered at the base and
- 8:33Speaker 2: there was nine children enrolled there. Does that make sense?
- 8:37Speaker 1: A little confusion, well, a little bit of confusion, And
- 8:41Speaker 1: you could be right. The only reason I think they're
- 8:43Speaker 1: talking about her classroom is because she had read in
- 8:46Speaker 1: her classroom in the beginning, and he's one of the children.
- 8:50Speaker 1: He's obviously kind of the main focus, and certainly his
- 8:53Speaker 1: father would have been involved in this big surprise they
- 8:55Speaker 1: were planning. So that leads me to believe that her
- 8:57Speaker 1: classroom is on the base. I agree that that was
- 8:59Speaker 1: not me. It's super clear.
- 9:01Speaker 2: It wasn't because it did show when Maggie and her
- 9:05Speaker 2: daughter were going to and I don't know what it
- 9:09Speaker 2: was like, am it's not a YMCA, but what was
- 9:12Speaker 2: that called? What was that?
- 9:15Speaker 1: Well? At one point, so this is what I thought.
- 9:17Speaker 1: This was so confusing They had this basically like week
- 9:20Speaker 1: long holiday party setup situation happening, and all of the
- 9:25Speaker 1: kids were there, and they had like gingerbread house decorating,
- 9:29Speaker 1: an ornament making, and at one point I think they
- 9:32Speaker 1: referred to it as like a winter camp. Yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 9:37Speaker 1: but I didn't care. Yeah, but they didn't make that
- 9:39Speaker 1: super clear that that's what was happening. It just looked
- 9:42Speaker 1: like we're getting ready for the party and we kind
- 9:44Speaker 1: of have these activities happening in the background for the kids.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Got it.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I felt like, again that was not made super clear. Okay,
- 9:53Speaker 1: can you tell me the text message you sent to
- 9:56Speaker 1: me last night?
- 9:57Speaker 2: Yes, all caps? I sent meg and a text message
- 10:01Speaker 2: right soon after I started this movie yesterday all caps.
- 10:03Speaker 2: It reads, he got clotheslined by a four foot Christmas
- 10:07Speaker 2: tree and now has a concussion and a broken wrist,
- 10:10Speaker 2: a million question marks.
- 10:12Speaker 1: And he needed to stay in the hospital overnight and
- 10:15Speaker 1: apparently he needed surgery and follow up appointment.
- 10:20Speaker 2: And was not allowed to fly. No listen, as someone
- 10:24Speaker 2: who has broken their arm within the last eighteen months,
- 10:28Speaker 2: I can tell you that your arm is fixed. After
- 10:30Speaker 2: you have surgery, you can basically go about your life. Yeah,
- 10:34Speaker 2: you don't stay in the hospital for it, even for
- 10:37Speaker 2: a concussion. I don't think you stay in the hospital.
- 10:39Speaker 2: But he got hit by the tip of a four
- 10:41Speaker 2: foot real Christmas tree.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I really was trying to make this make sense in
- 10:45Speaker 1: my mind, and I was thinking, like, maybe if he
- 10:47Speaker 1: hit his ground head on the concrete as he fell.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I didn't buy it.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Here's the other problem I had with this whole scene.
- 10:57Speaker 2: After he got hit by the Christmas tree, she goes, oh,
- 11:00Speaker 2: oh my god, I hit the dad in the Christmas sweater.
- 11:03Speaker 2: How did she know it was the same guy. He
- 11:06Speaker 2: didn't have the Christmas sweater on, they didn't have.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Still wearing his same face.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Really, i'd I, maybe it's me. But I don't know
- 11:16Speaker 2: if I would have had like a memory in a
- 11:19Speaker 2: moment of chaos like that, remembering a person who I
- 11:22Speaker 2: met two minutes for two minutes.
- 11:25Speaker 1: No, I probably wouldn't have either. But of course they're
- 11:28Speaker 1: trying to sell the love story arc.
- 11:30Speaker 2: H Okay, I might not. Okay, go ahead, No.
- 11:36Speaker 1: You're one hundred percent I wouldn't. I have a terrible memory.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I would not have realized that's who it was right away.
- 11:42Speaker 1: But speaking of the Christmas sweater, it is the year
- 11:45Speaker 1: twenty twenty. Christmas sweaters are ubiquitous Christmas. Ugly Christmas sweater
- 11:50Speaker 1: parties are happening right and left. You can buy them
- 11:54Speaker 1: in every big box retailer. There are holiday cards themed
- 11:59Speaker 1: after ugly Christmas waters. The ugly Christmas water is not
- 12:02Speaker 1: a new thing. And the fact that Maggie Ashley Williams's
- 12:06Speaker 1: character kept going on and on about how ugly his
- 12:09Speaker 1: sweater was and how she couldn't believe he would wear
- 12:12Speaker 1: it was not a believable storyline for me.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Right, So she's really putting this ugly Christmas sweater on
- 12:19Speaker 2: as his That's who his character is, you know what
- 12:22Speaker 2: I mean? Like, uh, he wore an ugly Christmas sweater,
- 12:26Speaker 2: How good of a person can he be? Or whatever?
- 12:29Speaker 2: She didn't find him attractive because he wore an ugly christmaswater. Now,
- 12:34Speaker 2: if Tyler Hines wore an ugly christmaswater, I think she
- 12:37Speaker 2: might have had different words to say.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Well, and he has to explain it away, has to
- 12:43Speaker 1: be like, oh, what you didn't see is my nephew
- 12:45Speaker 1: had a matching sweater and oh, my brother and sister
- 12:48Speaker 1: in law are having an ugly Christmas water party. We don't.
- 12:50Speaker 1: We don't need the explanation. We understand. I mean, I
- 12:55Speaker 1: have not been living under a rock.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Ugly Christmas waters are a thing. Well, this is where
- 12:59Speaker 2: I feel like they came up with a title and
- 13:02Speaker 2: then they wrote the movie around this title. Do you
- 13:05Speaker 2: know what I mean? Because the title I thought was
- 13:08Speaker 2: really misleading because it was really one or two scenes
- 13:12Speaker 2: about this Christmas sweater. It had nothing to do with
- 13:15Speaker 2: the movie overall. They should have made it had like
- 13:18Speaker 2: the title should have been something to do with like
- 13:20Speaker 2: the gingerbread house or I don't know, not Christmas sweater.
- 13:25Speaker 1: The movie had nothing to do with the movie overall.
- 13:28Speaker 1: This suffers from the same problem that a movie we
- 13:33Speaker 1: really enjoyed on the twelfth date of Christmas also suffered from,
- 13:38Speaker 1: and that is too many plot lines. We have she clotheslines,
- 13:44Speaker 1: this guy feels personally responsible for him, allows him to
- 13:47Speaker 1: live in her guest house.
- 13:48Speaker 2: We have Can we talk about the guest house for
- 13:50Speaker 2: a second. Okay, wait, we can talk about the guest house.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Continue on to what you're talking about.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Okay, we have single mom who is all alone on Christmas.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Lucas's character who is disillusioned with his job and isn't
- 14:05Speaker 1: sure that he wants to go back to it and
- 14:06Speaker 1: doesn't really want doesn't really know what he wants to
- 14:09Speaker 1: do with his career. We have these military families who
- 14:12Speaker 1: are away from their you know, the children who are
- 14:15Speaker 1: away from their parents at Christmas. We have this gingerbread
- 14:21Speaker 1: house building, which of course ties into that.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Oh, she was a painter who or she wanted to
- 14:27Speaker 2: paint her passions.
- 14:29Speaker 1: She had ignored her passions because she had been focusing
- 14:32Speaker 1: on her family. Okay, I have so many things to
- 14:36Speaker 1: say about so many of those plot lines, but go
- 14:38Speaker 1: back to what you were going to talk about.
- 14:40Speaker 2: This is where I'm really confused. First of all, she
- 14:44Speaker 2: felt personally responsible, Like would you have gone to a hospital,
- 14:50Speaker 2: Megan and be okay with somebody that you hit with
- 14:55Speaker 2: their Christmas tree.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I could believe her maybe going to the hospital because
- 15:00Speaker 1: he was unconscious, he was alone. She felt responsible, But
- 15:05Speaker 1: it was an accident, and I felt like once they
- 15:08Speaker 1: figured out who he was and contacted his family, her
- 15:10Speaker 1: responsibility is over. She didn't. I did not feel like
- 15:13Speaker 1: she was hugely at fault. I feel like it was
- 15:15Speaker 1: a genuine accident. She wasn't being especially careless. Bad things happen.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Let's move on with our lives. I did not feel
- 15:23Speaker 1: like she was she was required to provide him with
- 15:27Speaker 1: a place to stay.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Okay, that's my next question. Why isn't he saying at
- 15:33Speaker 2: the brother's house or friend his best friend's house.
- 15:39Speaker 1: And why are the brother and the best friend so
- 15:42Speaker 1: weazy to go on? Like, sure, go move into this
- 15:45Speaker 1: home of this stranger. By the way, he's sleeping on
- 15:47Speaker 1: a poll out couch. It's not like she even has
- 15:49Speaker 1: a bed there for him, So it's not like you're
- 15:51Speaker 1: gonna be so comfortable. He could sleep on the couch
- 15:54Speaker 1: of any of these families.
- 15:56Speaker 2: I mean, he was kind of a jerk, So I
- 15:58Speaker 2: don't know if I'd be like, sure, I'm sleeping on
- 16:00Speaker 2: my extra bedroom or in my studio apartment or whatever,
- 16:05Speaker 2: like no, no, no, I would never let a stranger.
- 16:10Speaker 2: I don't care if it is Christmas or not. You're
- 16:14Speaker 2: not gonna let a stranger stay in your home. I've
- 16:17Speaker 2: watched too many Lifetime movies.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I agree. I did not feel like she needed to
- 16:25Speaker 1: offer him, particularly given the number of people he had
- 16:30Speaker 1: right there in town.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Okay, so it was never explained though, right, Like it
- 16:34Speaker 2: was never explained why he didn't stay at the best
- 16:36Speaker 2: friend or the brother's house.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I mean, it's possible that I wasn't paying clothes enough attention.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Because I was really confused.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think they probably didn't explain it,
- 16:47Speaker 1: because did we ever find out why they got divorced?
- 16:51Speaker 2: He I just think because he was a workaholic. I
- 16:54Speaker 2: thought that was the reason why.
- 16:57Speaker 1: And then he gets remarried right away, Yeah, because he
- 17:01Speaker 1: needs someone else to take care of him.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Gross.
- 17:05Speaker 1: And you know, of course they get along so well
- 17:08Speaker 1: and they're all so kind to each other, and the
- 17:15Speaker 1: husband did kind of like bump on the fact that
- 17:18Speaker 1: there was, oh, a new handsome renter in.
- 17:22Speaker 2: It's just weird.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I have another issue with this movie, okay, and that
- 17:29Speaker 1: is why did it take them a full week to
- 17:33Speaker 1: think about the idea of doing a video chat? Seriously,
- 17:38Speaker 1: it is twenty twenty, and even if the pandemic does
- 17:42Speaker 1: not exist, certainly these families are facetiming and video chatting
- 17:48Speaker 1: with their soldiers overseas. And I understand, I'm sure it
- 17:51Speaker 1: takes some coordination, but this is not like, did not
- 17:55Speaker 1: require the level of coordination.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you have to stop the kernel on the steps
- 18:01Speaker 2: of the building that she's entering and try to like
- 18:04Speaker 2: pitch your idea to her.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Like what what you're telling me again that in twenty
- 18:10Speaker 1: twenty the base has not already made plans for these
- 18:14Speaker 1: families to somehow have contact on Christmas Day. No, this
- 18:18Speaker 1: is not coming down to the eleventh hour. They do
- 18:21Speaker 1: this every year. There is a plan in place, They've
- 18:24Speaker 1: got something going. This is not new.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Yeah, there was one part of the movie they were
- 18:30Speaker 2: talking about sending out gingerbread stuff to the military and
- 18:35Speaker 2: they're like, oh, that might be hard to coordinate. And
- 18:37Speaker 2: she's like, the military can get things anywhere. And I
- 18:40Speaker 2: was like, you're talking like three days before this event.
- 18:43Speaker 2: The military is gonna what drop ship gingerbread kits to
- 18:47Speaker 2: these fans.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Out what Yeah, and the military can get like key
- 18:51Speaker 1: supplies to soldiers in the field. But I don't think
- 18:54Speaker 1: gingerbread houses qualify as something that requires rush shipping on
- 18:59Speaker 1: the part of the United States military.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yes, so dumb.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I think maybe there was an attempt to build up
- 19:07Speaker 1: the military as like this positive force, and I don't
- 19:10Speaker 1: think that was necessary, right, Like, I think everyone can
- 19:13Speaker 1: get behind the idea of supporting military families during the holidays.
- 19:18Speaker 1: He did not need like the military is awesome messaging.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's already there. And I also
- 19:23Speaker 1: don't think like the military is better than the postal service.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't think that was the message
- 19:28Speaker 1: we needed to send it home.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Okay, So I have a couple of other little things
- 19:34Speaker 2: that bothered me. Yes, he gave her tickets to Paris
- 19:39Speaker 2: after knowing her for five days.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I mean, really, did he give her two or did
- 19:46Speaker 1: he give her three? Are they all going together?
- 19:48Speaker 2: I don't know. I was confused about that too, Like
- 19:50Speaker 2: I was like, is she taking the daughter or is
- 19:52Speaker 2: she taking the new boyfriend? What's happening here? They didn't
- 19:55Speaker 2: explain it.
- 19:56Speaker 1: They didn't explain it. And when she's looking for the book,
- 20:01Speaker 1: Oh my god, I've got this like small town bookseller
- 20:04Speaker 1: hunting it down. My husband watched this movie with me,
- 20:07Speaker 1: and my husband is not an internet guy, like he
- 20:09Speaker 1: likes in store shopping. But even he was like, go
- 20:11Speaker 1: on Amazon, someone's reselling that book.
- 20:15Speaker 2: You know.
- 20:16Speaker 1: She's like, I went on this new fangled site called eBay, Like,
- 20:20Speaker 1: oh my gosh, this is like the movie that is
- 20:23Speaker 1: made for people that have never heard of the internet.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Yeah right, I just I hated this movie so much,
- 20:33Speaker 2: so much. If Ashley Williams is a is a Hallmark
- 20:37Speaker 2: Christmas movie, Darlene, why is she in such a terrible movie?
- 20:41Speaker 1: That's a great question. And I really wonder about the
- 20:45Speaker 1: logistics of creating these movies in twenty twenty, because I
- 20:49Speaker 1: know that they had some limitations and most of them
- 20:51Speaker 1: are filmed in Canada, where filming was allowed earlier. So
- 20:56Speaker 1: a lot of these actors and actresses went to Canada
- 20:58Speaker 1: and they had quarantine for fourteen days and then they
- 21:00Speaker 1: were able to film these movies. But I wonder if
- 21:02Speaker 1: it was I don't know, just a timing thing, like hey,
- 21:06Speaker 1: I don't know, this is all we got.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Maybe that's yeah, I don't know, because I have some
- 21:13Speaker 2: self respect because this was terrible, terrible.
- 21:18Speaker 1: So, like I said, my husband watched this movie with me,
- 21:21Speaker 1: and so he at the end, as I was taking
- 21:24Speaker 1: my notes, he was like, you better not be knocking
- 21:27Speaker 1: my Hallmark movies. And I was like, hey, I gotta
- 21:30Speaker 1: tell it like it is. But to his when they're
- 21:34Speaker 1: having the snowball fight and she throws the snowball at him,
- 21:37Speaker 1: he goes, she breaks his arm and then throws shit
- 21:39Speaker 1: at him. And then a few minutes later and she's like,
- 21:45Speaker 1: and now she's putting his ass to work. She is
- 21:50Speaker 1: not feeling sorry for him anymore, and she has made
- 21:53Speaker 1: him her bitch.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Okay, let me ask you, because he watches a lot
- 21:59Speaker 2: of these movies, where does this movie fall for him?
- 22:02Speaker 2: And all the ones that he has seen, like, does
- 22:04Speaker 2: he say, oh, that was not that good or well?
- 22:08Speaker 1: He will never he's.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Just a stand huh he.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Is, and he won't like say like, oh that one't
- 22:15Speaker 1: wasn't as good, like and I am like, well that
- 22:18Speaker 1: one didn't really hold up. He's like, you need to
- 22:19Speaker 1: have a little respect. But he will have moments throughout
- 22:25Speaker 1: the movies that he doesn't believe, like one thing I
- 22:30Speaker 1: hate is the oh we've got a little bit of
- 22:33Speaker 1: the missed communication and then like the.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Hygiene, Yes, I hate that too, And she got all
- 22:38Speaker 2: pissed at the end.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Yeah, she's like she jumped to conclusions. So he was
- 22:42Speaker 1: like her jumpy ass had just spoken to him, we
- 22:45Speaker 1: would not have his problem.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah, just say hey, I overheard this, what's what's the deal?
- 22:50Speaker 2: Like she flipped out like he like tried to grab
- 22:53Speaker 2: her hand or something like take that way. Yeah, I'm like,
- 22:56Speaker 2: stop it.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I mean, if you're that upset about it, and it's
- 23:00Speaker 1: worth I understand, like it's new and you know, were
- 23:04Speaker 1: this real life having known someone for five days and
- 23:07Speaker 1: then they go back to their actual job, that's to
- 23:10Speaker 1: be expected. But if your feelings are so strong that
- 23:12Speaker 1: you're not upset about it, have the conversation. And one
- 23:17Speaker 1: thing I noticed is that typically we don't get the
- 23:20Speaker 1: kiss until the very end of the movie. So when
- 23:22Speaker 1: we have an early kiss, that's a bright red flag
- 23:26Speaker 1: that there's gonna be some sort of conflict. We're not
- 23:29Speaker 1: just like on the downhill slope to a happy ending.
- 23:31Speaker 1: There's going to be something coming in that's gonna throw
- 23:35Speaker 1: a wrench in the works. And of course we got
- 23:36Speaker 1: that in the form of the miscommunication and jumping to conclusions.
- 23:42Speaker 1: What I did like their sleigh ride. That is the
- 23:47Speaker 1: one moment in the movie where I started to root
- 23:50Speaker 1: for them.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I disagree. Yeah, they had their kiss on there and
- 23:55Speaker 2: it was like so not romantic to me, like there
- 23:59Speaker 2: was no passion behind it.
- 24:02Speaker 3: I just.
- 24:04Speaker 2: I don't know, it looked fake, like the hole like
- 24:07Speaker 2: riding in the sleigh ride horse and carriage buggy situation.
- 24:12Speaker 2: It looked like green screen. It just looked fake to me.
- 24:15Speaker 2: I hated all of it. And then she like puts
- 24:17Speaker 2: her head on his shoulder. I was like, gag me
- 24:20Speaker 2: with a candy cane.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I think I really wanted to believe in them at
- 24:26Speaker 1: that moment, Like I was just looking for something that
- 24:29Speaker 1: was gonna draw me in because I was not rooting
- 24:32Speaker 1: for them, so I was I was really wanting that
- 24:38Speaker 1: to be that moment. So I let it take me away.
- 24:41Speaker 1: But I agree with everything that he said.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Okay, so then if I could lead into what we
- 24:45Speaker 2: wished for mine obviously would be more chemistry between the
- 24:51Speaker 2: two lead characters. I just thought he was such a dud.
- 24:54Speaker 2: There was nothing like likable about him.
- 24:57Speaker 1: In my opinion, I agree, I did not. I do
- 25:01Speaker 1: wish that there was more chemistry. I didn't feel it
- 25:04Speaker 1: except when I was like forcing it. I also wish
- 25:08Speaker 1: that this movie had the scripts had a better editor
- 25:11Speaker 1: who looked at this and said, you guys are all
- 25:14Speaker 1: over the place. You need to like zero in right focus.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Can you think of one movie that has eight storylines
- 25:21Speaker 2: going in it?
- 25:23Speaker 1: No?
- 25:23Speaker 2: Right, like one good movie that you really loved, did
- 25:27Speaker 2: it have eight storylines.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Well, and I think these Hallmark movies do this a
- 25:31Speaker 1: lot because the reality is their main plot line is
- 25:35Speaker 1: pretty weak, right, It's like girl hits guy with Christmas tree,
- 25:40Speaker 1: and then you gotta add in seventeen other plot lines
- 25:43Speaker 1: in order to make this a two hour movie, because
- 25:45Speaker 1: that's not a story.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I think we should take to writing Hallmark scripts because.
- 25:53Speaker 1: And also that is my husband's dream. He's like, we
- 25:56Speaker 1: need to retire on Hallmark movie writing and I was like,
- 26:00Speaker 1: I don't think there's a retirement in that. Tell them
- 26:03Speaker 1: to get cracking, all right, friends, next week we are
