Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: He can not get hold of.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Must know.
- 0:10Speaker 3: We know Bryce Harper is going to be in the
- 0:12Speaker 3: home run derby. The names that kept popping up were
- 0:14Speaker 3: is Harper going to be in the derby? Is Kyle
- 0:17Speaker 3: Schwarber going to be in the derby? We also know
- 0:19Speaker 3: by the way that Dino Ebel from the Dodger is
- 0:21Speaker 3: going to throw to Harper. But the real drama, conspiracy theory,
- 0:27Speaker 3: whatever you want to call it, that just popped up
- 0:29Speaker 3: is wait, I thought Kyle Schwarber wasn't participating. Don Maddingly,
- 0:33Speaker 3: his manager, was asked about Harper and then he gave
- 0:36Speaker 3: away a potential surprise.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Excited to see Bryce swing it in the derby?
- 0:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I am, Actually I'm glad he's doing it, especially
- 0:46Speaker 3: in Philly.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Him and Kyle Bolt, right, All sure, not sure o
- 0:51Speaker 2: Kyle yet. Okay, I thought Cole's going to do it.
- 0:55Speaker 5: Maybe he's waiting to make sure he's he's everything's good.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Yeah, so guy's doing it, especially in Philly. This is
- 1:05Speaker 4: why we can't tell This is why we can't tell
- 1:08Speaker 4: Don anything. It's like, you know, everybody's got that person
- 1:11Speaker 4: in their family, Like, yeah, you know, I was just
- 1:14Speaker 4: thinking about doing this and all of a sudden, your
- 1:17Speaker 4: cousin's calling you and going, you're doing home run Derby.
- 1:21Speaker 4: You didn't even tell me you're doing this, you're doing that.
- 1:24Speaker 4: And Don's like, oh, yeah, whatever, Yeah, that's him.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Whatever.
- 1:29Speaker 4: See if his back's feeling good or not. Do you
- 1:31Speaker 4: feel good at a Phillies fan? Do you feel good
- 1:33Speaker 4: as a Phillies fan? If Schwarber's like, I'm waiting to
- 1:36Speaker 4: see to see how my back feels.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I think he's gonna do it. Either way, I think
- 1:41Speaker 2: he's gonna do it.
- 1:42Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know.
- 1:44Speaker 6: I mean, listen, oh, I gotta come down a little bit.
- 1:46Speaker 6: I at the end of the day. For me, like
- 1:50Speaker 6: I wanted to do it every year. I did it
- 1:52Speaker 6: for three years. I thought it was fantastic. But at
- 1:55Speaker 6: your home field, there's an adrenaline, you know. Maybe you
- 1:59Speaker 6: know there's an opportunity for him and Harper to go
- 2:01Speaker 6: toe to toe.
- 2:01Speaker 2: At the end. I think that'd be really cool.
- 2:04Speaker 6: So yeah, definitely, if there was an opportunity for him
- 2:08Speaker 6: to do it, I think he's going to be in
- 2:10Speaker 6: as Don just said, but yeah, that'll be fun for
- 2:13Speaker 6: Philadelphia fans for sure.
- 2:17Speaker 5: We didn't think Schwarber was going to be in it.
- 2:19Speaker 3: It almost felt like it was just an auto no
- 2:22Speaker 3: based on I think it was his words right, that
- 2:25Speaker 3: he's dealing with a little bit of a back thing
- 2:27Speaker 3: and maybe carrying the team on his back a little
- 2:30Speaker 3: bit with all the dangers he's got this year. But
- 2:33Speaker 3: that sounds like a special surprise that might have been
- 2:35Speaker 3: like a little bit tainted where you didn't know and
- 2:39Speaker 3: then he pops up. It's not like you can completely
- 2:41Speaker 3: just have him rise out if you're like, hey, we're
- 2:44Speaker 3: having a mystery home run derby participant all that would
- 2:46Speaker 3: that would be cool, But that just pops up.
- 2:48Speaker 5: And he keeps it a secret.
- 2:49Speaker 3: But it's too hard to keep that a secret for
- 2:51Speaker 3: too long, Like you can't wait until the derby starts.
- 2:53Speaker 3: You would see some dude just you know, taking VP
- 2:57Speaker 3: tanks or something like that, and say, wait, hold, why
- 3:00Speaker 3: is this guy participating with everyone else in BP.
- 3:02Speaker 5: Let's show the field. Can we show who we have
- 3:05Speaker 5: on here?
- 3:05Speaker 3: And let's assume that Schober's going to be in, so
- 3:08Speaker 3: we only have one spot left here we go, guys,
- 3:10Speaker 3: So Jack Hag Junior Camenaro, who was the first to
- 3:14Speaker 3: say I'm in, Wilson contraras Bryce Harper, Ben Rice. We're
- 3:20Speaker 3: putting Schwarber on this list, and Jordan Walker. We've been
- 3:24Speaker 3: beating the drum all week for Hunter Goodman, but apparently
- 3:27Speaker 3: a fifty homer catcher just doesn't cut it these days.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Any other guesses or ideas of what could pop up
- 3:34Speaker 3: next here, and also just evaluating the field too.
- 3:38Speaker 6: I mean, for me, I would love to see, well,
- 3:42Speaker 6: two guys I would love to see, but there's only one.
- 3:44Speaker 6: I would love to see more Kami get in there.
- 3:46Speaker 6: He's back. I think that would be fantastic.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Listen.
- 3:51Speaker 6: I know people might lie like this, but I would
- 3:53Speaker 6: love to see Pete Alonzo get in there too, just
- 3:55Speaker 6: because how powerful he is in the balls he would
- 3:58Speaker 6: have hit in Philadelphia. But I think my first choice,
- 4:01Speaker 6: there's a lot of lefties. I think put another left
- 4:03Speaker 6: in there. He's healthy now again, Murakami would be absolutely fantastic, just.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Because he's an unknown.
- 4:09Speaker 6: He's a you know, we know of his capabilities, we
- 4:11Speaker 6: know he get homers, but how is he going to
- 4:13Speaker 6: do in the home run derby. It's it's not timed either,
- 4:16Speaker 6: so he could take his time. That would be my
- 4:19Speaker 6: pick to click truthfully, if he was in there. I
- 4:22Speaker 6: think that would be a guy I would put on
- 4:24Speaker 6: top of the list, knowing that he's in the controlled
- 4:27Speaker 6: he doesn't have to rush, you know. So those type
- 4:30Speaker 6: of guys that take their time and do things methodically
- 4:33Speaker 6: would would have a really good opportunity.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Well, I mean the Phillies just now, they must have
- 4:37Speaker 4: been listening what happened. They just posted it, literally, just
- 4:41Speaker 4: posted it. FT makes stuff happen. Schwarber is confirmed in
- 4:46Speaker 4: the graphic and everything, so we can't back out now,
- 4:48Speaker 4: I don't care. How was that going?
- 4:49Speaker 7: Ha?
- 4:49Speaker 4: So get the three still have one more spot And
- 4:52Speaker 4: I love all the ones that you said, and I
- 4:54Speaker 4: know you did. Did you do one Derby as not
- 4:56Speaker 4: an All Star?
- 4:57Speaker 2: I did one? The last one one.
- 4:59Speaker 4: Is not an All Star because you loved it so
- 5:00Speaker 4: much and you wanted I think you should get in there.
- 5:03Speaker 6: I was one of the top home run hitters too
- 5:04Speaker 6: that year or so. But just average was terrible.
- 5:07Speaker 4: If it's not if it's not right, So you weren't
- 5:09Speaker 4: an All Star, but you want to do the Derby
- 5:10Speaker 4: because the Derby's fun.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Want to be and they cared about average back then.
- 5:13Speaker 3: By the way, sorry, I had to put that in there,
- 5:15Speaker 3: but they don't care about that anymore.
- 5:17Speaker 4: Wait wait back by sixteen, way back in the twenty
- 5:22Speaker 4: tens cap I've been looking for the best deals for
- 5:27Speaker 4: the All Star Game tickets in Philly. Where are you
- 5:29Speaker 4: going to get some tickets from?
- 5:31Speaker 7: I'm going straight out to Rife Field. If Harper and
- 5:34Speaker 7: Schwarber both joined the home run derby, I want to
- 5:36Speaker 7: be catching the hometown guys hitting them, So I'm going
- 5:38Speaker 7: out to the Rife Field kind of where I think
- 5:40Speaker 7: I could get the best chance of catching one of
- 5:41Speaker 7: those home runs.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Maybe in the second deck. You can go on the
- 5:44Speaker 4: app and you can look to see what your view
- 5:46Speaker 4: is going to because the boys are going to be
- 5:47Speaker 4: launching them Jones and with over thirty five million downloads,
- 5:51Speaker 4: Seek is the number one rated ticketing app. There are
- 5:54Speaker 4: more than seventy thousand events listed SEEKI, including concerts, sports,
- 5:59Speaker 4: festival and more. And of course I have a code
- 6:02Speaker 4: for y'all. You can use the code Territory ten for
- 6:05Speaker 4: ten percent off your next set of MLB tickets at
- 6:07Speaker 4: sea Geek. That's ten percent off MLB tickets with promo
- 6:11Speaker 4: code Territory ten. Make sure you click the link in
- 6:14Speaker 4: the description to download the app and have the code
- 6:17Speaker 4: automatically added to your account so you can use it later.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Thank you to Seakeek, and we'll see at the game. No,
- 6:23Speaker 4: I mean the guy for me. I don't know if
- 6:25Speaker 4: they've asked him. James would, Oh yeah, he did it
- 6:29Speaker 4: last year. James would, And especially because I heard Harper
- 6:33Speaker 4: talking about wanting to do it last year in Atlanta,
- 6:37Speaker 4: like that inner rival that inner division rivalry, like you
- 6:41Speaker 4: kind of want to do I hope, I hope. James
- 6:43Speaker 4: Wood's like, yeah, I want to go into Philly, take
- 6:45Speaker 4: it from two Phillies, take it like in front of
- 6:48Speaker 4: that crowd. Like that's like that division rivalry that I
- 6:51Speaker 4: sit there and I go, I'd want to see it.
- 6:54Speaker 4: I would be there for it that And I've heard
- 6:56Speaker 4: his his BPS are majestic.
- 7:00Speaker 6: Ye know, he's he's so I got up close and
- 7:02Speaker 6: personal to him last year and oh my god, he
- 7:06Speaker 6: should be playing basketball.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Dude, he's like when you get closer to him. I'm
- 7:10Speaker 4: not saying he's that girth, but he's what I remember
- 7:13Speaker 4: Adam Dunbe where you he stands in the cage and you're.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Like, but Donner's got more girl. Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Yeah, but he just looked like the cage isn't big
- 7:21Speaker 4: enough for him.
- 7:23Speaker 6: You gravitate to his presence, That's what I was. You're
- 7:28Speaker 6: walking on you like to start going like what is
- 7:32Speaker 6: that person you're playing.
- 7:33Speaker 4: The NBA is Yeah, it's uh, I want to see
- 7:37Speaker 4: him if it's not Hunter Goodman. I know we've been
- 7:39Speaker 4: beating the Hunter Goodman drum. But and maybe because the
- 7:43Speaker 4: Schwarber thing, maybe that ask was out there and we
- 7:45Speaker 4: just didn't get the We just did, you know? He
- 7:48Speaker 4: they don't want to. Maybe there's another ask out there
- 7:50Speaker 4: that hasn't confirmed yet. I don't know.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I think those those three there would be phenomenal.
- 7:56Speaker 3: I know why if you're a catcher that it's tanks
- 7:59Speaker 3: and doesn't count the same. And also if you're a
- 8:01Speaker 3: Rockies player that hits tanks, it doesn't count the same
- 8:04Speaker 3: because you get all your homers at home. Oh wait,
- 8:05Speaker 3: he has like double the homers on the road. And
- 8:07Speaker 3: also like catchers can't win a derby, right they catchers
- 8:11Speaker 3: never can win a derby?
- 8:13Speaker 4: They can't.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Oh wait they can't right? Oh wait? Wait what happened
- 8:17Speaker 5: last year?
- 8:19Speaker 2: Five?
- 8:19Speaker 4: The year of cal got it?
- 8:21Speaker 5: Okay, just just checking, just making sure.
- 8:25Speaker 6: I think here and I for me to button this
- 8:27Speaker 6: up with Harper and Schwarburn Bob, I think that's gonna
- 8:31Speaker 6: take away from a lot of things. And there's gonna
- 8:32Speaker 6: be some underlying guys here that might take off and
- 8:36Speaker 6: be like, you know what, go ahead, do you think
- 8:37Speaker 6: they're gonna win? Like a junior kamanaro By runner up
- 8:39Speaker 6: last year, This guy can absolutely mash. It's a smaller field.
- 8:44Speaker 6: All you gotta do is hit a pop fly and
- 8:45Speaker 6: these balls will go. Excuse me, I'm on the wrong
- 8:47Speaker 6: thing here, but it is an absolute stunning event. And
- 8:50Speaker 6: I think for him, oh we uh, you know, line
- 8:54Speaker 6: drives that he's gonna hit are gonna go over you
- 8:56Speaker 6: know what I mean, those top spinners. So uh, he
- 8:59Speaker 6: has that type swing where he can do a bunch
- 9:01Speaker 6: of bunch of things, and he would he would be
- 9:03Speaker 6: up on the list there too.
- 9:04Speaker 4: I want to see people go because there's that upper
- 9:06Speaker 4: deck is very hit able in left.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Some people the south Stewart did in a game this
- 9:12Speaker 2: year and left.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, like that upper deck is very reachable over
- 9:16Speaker 4: the upper deck. And then and then I want to
- 9:19Speaker 4: see in right field too because there's a third deck there.
- 9:21Speaker 4: I love targets like I love to see like, oh
- 9:24Speaker 4: my gosh, that hit the third deck, Like that's the
- 9:26Speaker 4: kind of stuff I want to say.
- 9:27Speaker 6: Agree and now and now with the new rules, Scott,
- 9:31Speaker 6: you can watch it all too so you can see
- 9:32Speaker 6: where it lands.
- 9:33Speaker 2: So I love it.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Yeah, how is that going to change things? They looking
- 9:39Speaker 3: at these players? Are there some that are going to
- 9:41Speaker 3: be able to handle that more? I know it's hard
- 9:43Speaker 3: to say. It's not like we have experience watching these
- 9:45Speaker 3: guys deal with this. Nobody has done a derby the
- 9:48Speaker 3: way this format is set up for us coming.
- 9:50Speaker 5: Up, nobody in this field.
- 9:52Speaker 3: But Todd fil like, can you weigh anything based on
- 9:55Speaker 3: the way this is going to change? Where it's it's
- 9:57Speaker 3: not a speed test anymore? There there's no I mean
- 10:00Speaker 3: it's not obviously it's a power test, but there's no
- 10:02Speaker 3: speed component really involved anymore. Does that help the older
- 10:07Speaker 3: guys or you know, like where they don't have to
- 10:10Speaker 3: just be Russian swings left and right and the more
- 10:12Speaker 3: swings that you get off the better, Like does that
- 10:14Speaker 3: help the senior members here like Harper and Schwobert.
- 10:18Speaker 6: The thing I really felt about this the other day
- 10:21Speaker 6: because I couldn't sleep. It was like two in the morning,
- 10:24Speaker 6: like trying to wake my wife up, leave me alone.
- 10:26Speaker 6: I'm like, all right, whatever, and my mind just went
- 10:28Speaker 6: to the home run derby. This could be one of
- 10:30Speaker 6: the quicker home run derbies we see. I said it
- 10:33Speaker 6: in the beginning that it was going to be longer. Now,
- 10:34Speaker 6: hear me out, hear me out. I would want to
- 10:37Speaker 6: hit first this time every single time. I I just
- 10:42Speaker 6: want to put the pressure on. For one, you get
- 10:44Speaker 6: twenty swings, say you hit ten home runs. Now you're
- 10:48Speaker 6: at your tenth at bat with tenth swing with two
- 10:50Speaker 6: home runs, Well, this guy's got to hit eight out
- 10:54Speaker 6: of the next ten out like it puts the pressure
- 10:56Speaker 6: on the next guy.
- 10:56Speaker 2: So I would want to be one of the first
- 10:58Speaker 2: ones swinging.
- 10:59Speaker 6: And then eventually you can tell some guys might not
- 11:02Speaker 6: be able to get to that twentieth they're fifteenth swing
- 11:04Speaker 6: because they're automatically out of it, you know what I'm saying.
- 11:07Speaker 4: So it could be a lot quicker. So you think
- 11:09Speaker 4: it's okay. I just think there's been so many takes.
- 11:12Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean once Sam's Sammy Sosas style
- 11:15Speaker 4: where it was like one and then yeah, like it
- 11:19Speaker 4: was it got it got long. But I'm gonna love
- 11:21Speaker 4: it because I want to see where the ball actually
- 11:24Speaker 4: ends up.
- 11:24Speaker 6: I want to see how the ratings are this year too,
- 11:26Speaker 6: just on different schedule, just because it's on a different
- 11:29Speaker 6: platform and everything else. You know, I'm not knocking anybody.
- 11:32Speaker 6: I just want to see.
- 11:40Speaker 5: He's laughing about something else, just for context.
- 11:43Speaker 6: No, I know, yeah, crist he's making me laugh over here,
- 11:46Speaker 6: writing some funny comments about me. But yeah, I just
- 11:50Speaker 6: want to see exactly how this all transpired. I don't
- 11:54Speaker 6: even know what I'm saying anymore. It's just funny.
- 11:57Speaker 3: This is how we're going to put a bow on
- 11:58Speaker 3: this segment. Okay, because I know how the goes. This
- 12:01Speaker 3: will get posted on YouTube as its own video. Okay,
- 12:04Speaker 3: It'll be a ten minute video, and most of the
- 12:07Speaker 3: comments will have nothing to do with the home run derby.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna say they're gonna yeah, of course.
- 12:16Speaker 5: We'll see how creative people get.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Book in summertime, it's cool in the morning, hot during
- 12:22Speaker 4: the day, cool again at night. Rarely am I sitting
- 12:25Speaker 4: there going Oh, I'm just gonna do one thing at
- 12:27Speaker 4: a time. I'm bouncing from work. I'm bouncing in the yard.
- 12:31Speaker 4: I'm running to a game. Fabletics has got me with price,
- 12:36Speaker 4: comfort and versatility with all the gear that I'm getting
- 12:40Speaker 4: from them.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Yeah, we're talking about premium activewear you'd expect from higher
- 12:44Speaker 3: end brands, but without the price tag. Lightweight, breatheable, comfortable,
- 12:48Speaker 3: built to actually last. And if you're going to Fabletics,
- 12:52Speaker 3: you should be joining as a VIP, which.

- 13:18Speaker 1: as a new VIP And this was awesome. Eduardo Valencia
- 13:22Speaker 1: home run first ab that doesn't happen often.
- 13:27Speaker 4: In my mind, I thought I was going to hit
- 13:29Speaker 4: a home run my first day end it'd being a
- 13:30Speaker 4: pop up to pop up to Casey McGhee McGahee at
- 13:35Speaker 4: third McGee McGee. It was McGee, McGee, brigee.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yes, McGee freaking that is so awesome. And it
- 13:43Speaker 4: wasn't like this dude's not like twenty years old. He's
- 13:46Speaker 4: been in the bushes for a little bit down in Toledo.
- 13:49Speaker 4: I hope the boys in Toledo were watching. That is
- 13:51Speaker 4: so un that is unbelievable.
- 13:53Speaker 6: And when he hit it too, like we know how
- 13:55Speaker 6: big that field is, I'm like, ooh center, I'm like,
- 13:57Speaker 6: it's got a chance, and it did. It just not over,
- 14:00Speaker 6: but it doesn't matter how far it goes over. That
- 14:02Speaker 6: what a great moment. I hope he celebrated yesterday. And
- 14:05Speaker 6: they got the victory too.
- 14:06Speaker 4: So and he's in the lineup.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Hey, get the scorecard.
- 14:09Speaker 6: Make sure I'm sure they got the ball because you know,
- 14:12Speaker 6: it didn't really go into the stands, the bat, the gloves,
- 14:16Speaker 6: the cleats, you have your boot.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I got it all.
- 14:19Speaker 4: I hit mine into the bushes against Tom Gorzlani in Philly,
- 14:22Speaker 4: pinch hit homer. They said they got me the ball.
- 14:26Speaker 4: But if you ever look in the bushes, like after BP,
- 14:29Speaker 4: there's like so many baseballs out there. The dude like
- 14:33Speaker 4: walked out there, picked the ball up.
- 14:34Speaker 6: You know what he did, He looked in he's like, man,
- 14:36Speaker 6: there's about fifteen balls right here.
- 14:38Speaker 4: He's like, it's definitely I.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Am gonna go like this, we found your ball. This
- 14:44Speaker 2: is unbelievable. Oh man, that's funny.
- 14:47Speaker 4: It's forever my ball.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I got lucky too.
- 14:49Speaker 6: I hit mine off of Barry Zito last year, the
- 14:51Speaker 6: year before he was a cy Young Award winner, hanging
- 14:54Speaker 6: breaking ball and went one row into uh Cincinnati Ballpark,
- 14:59Speaker 6: not small park, and the guy was gracious if wanted
- 15:02Speaker 6: to sign ball. Bang boom, got it. Really cool, really.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Cool moment that you and I will never forget.
- 15:09Speaker 3: The Brewers have won four or five in or they
- 15:12Speaker 3: did win four or five in that series against the Cardinals.
- 15:14Speaker 3: This is the Adam mccalvey tweet, just going over how
- 15:17Speaker 3: good and consistent they've been. Kratz or Old ball Club
- 15:20Speaker 3: just shown up year after year, and I just feel
- 15:22Speaker 3: like we know they're going to keep rolling along. And
- 15:25Speaker 3: everyone's wondering if this is the year where they pull
- 15:28Speaker 3: the trigger and they're able to acquire one or two
- 15:31Speaker 3: impact players. Can they be like Seattle last year where
- 15:35Speaker 3: they never do it right, they never go for it fully,
- 15:38Speaker 3: and then all of a sudden you pick up someone
- 15:40Speaker 3: like nailor in. It changes the whole equation and all
- 15:42Speaker 3: of a sudden you're in a Game seven, one went
- 15:44Speaker 3: away from getting to the World Series.
- 15:48Speaker 4: I think they have to stay in their lane in
- 15:50Speaker 4: the sense of what type of guy they're going to
- 15:52Speaker 4: come get, what type of Like if you get let's
- 15:55Speaker 4: say it's like a a hitting of Swarz. I'm not
- 15:57Speaker 4: saying it's going to be, but you're talking about the Mariners.
- 16:00Speaker 4: He doesn't fit that mold of man. How are these
- 16:03Speaker 4: guys doing this? Like, oh, they're grinding at bats out, Hey,
- 16:06Speaker 4: Hieo Suarez could put you into the World Series with
- 16:09Speaker 4: one swing, but you're going to have your slumps, your
- 16:14Speaker 4: malaise during the season. So how do they find at
- 16:17Speaker 4: the trade deadline that athletic, versatile player that fits into
- 16:21Speaker 4: the pieces that they already have Up the middle, they're solid,
- 16:24Speaker 4: they're adding to the outfield. Luis Lara's up there now.
- 16:27Speaker 4: So it's like young guys. Do they find that veteran
- 16:32Speaker 4: starter that's maybe not Tarrek Scrubel but is big time
- 16:36Speaker 4: And I hope they make the move, but I thought
- 16:38Speaker 4: they should have early in the season.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Our corner time, the Marlins are sizzling, and I want
- 16:44Speaker 3: to I like to do trade complexion when we do
- 16:47Speaker 3: this stuff for these next few weeks, So I want
- 16:49Speaker 3: to start here. The team's rolling. They're definitely in playoff contention.
- 16:52Speaker 3: They have a shot at the division if they keep
- 16:53Speaker 3: this up. They've won twenty six of their first sixty games,
- 16:59Speaker 3: is what they do, and then then twenty six of
- 17:01Speaker 3: their next thirty four they won, so just to show
- 17:03Speaker 3: like they were pretty mid to start the year, a
- 17:05Speaker 3: little bit below five hundred, and then they're just on
- 17:07Speaker 3: an epic heater after a roaring junior, carrying that into
- 17:11Speaker 3: the July schedule and they don't want the All Star
- 17:13Speaker 3: break to pop up. But did you guys see the
- 17:16Speaker 3: news here? And we talked to Ken Rosenthal about it,
- 17:18Speaker 3: where he's like, yeah, they probably aren't going to trade
- 17:21Speaker 3: Sandy el Contra. Is that the right move at this
- 17:25Speaker 3: step of the process for them? Todd Father a team
- 17:28Speaker 3: that always trades away their best players.
- 17:32Speaker 6: I really don't know, man, this is so hard. I'm
- 17:34Speaker 6: so happy that they're doing well. I love that the
- 17:36Speaker 6: Marlins are battling. They're three games up in the wild Card.
- 17:42Speaker 6: I hope they keep this up. I do I do.
- 17:45Speaker 6: It's gonna be hard to finish the season at the
- 17:48Speaker 6: rate they're going. They're beating good teams. What is it
- 17:51Speaker 6: twenty sixth of their last thirty four or excuse.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Me, now, you got it twenty six to thirty four.
- 17:57Speaker 3: But then I'd be pissed Todd father at what you said.
- 18:00Speaker 3: If I'm a Marlins fan, just because I live there
- 18:01Speaker 3: for a while, I just butt back. If I'm watching
- 18:03Speaker 3: right now and you're like, I don't know, I'm like, no, No,
- 18:05Speaker 3: I want you to say, keep Sandy for once, keep
- 18:09Speaker 3: that guy because we go through I'll represent the I
- 18:12Speaker 3: used to watch every Marlins game when I was in college,
- 18:14Speaker 3: and I.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Live there, you are, we go through.
- 18:16Speaker 3: The crap every year when we have a good year.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Can you please just keep the guy? You know you're
- 18:22Speaker 3: gonna get that much more for him that I lose
- 18:25Speaker 3: a playoff opportunity here. You don't think you're gonna win
- 18:27Speaker 3: the World Series, Okay, but I want to be in
- 18:29Speaker 3: the playoffs.
- 18:30Speaker 5: I want to watch playoffs baseball. I'm a Marlins fan.
- 18:32Speaker 2: And I agree I want to see them make the
- 18:34Speaker 2: playoffs too.
- 18:35Speaker 6: So that's why they have to go and get some
- 18:39Speaker 6: people during this trade deadline as it comes up. They
- 18:41Speaker 6: have an opportunity, just like everybody else. I want the
- 18:44Speaker 6: Marlins Inmocratsy. I want them in. Are they going to
- 18:48Speaker 6: figure it out to get them in? Because they they
- 18:50Speaker 6: you know they're going. They're on a heater right now,
- 18:51Speaker 6: My guy.
- 18:52Speaker 4: You're a Northeast guys. I can tell. I can tell
- 18:54Speaker 4: by the way you're talking.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 18:56Speaker 4: I love the fact that they're keeping them. I love
- 18:59Speaker 4: the fact that this isn't like, could you imagine we
- 19:02Speaker 4: could have a sustainable future Peter Bendix, sustainable future five years?
- 19:08Speaker 4: Keep my job to me, this is the time when
- 19:11Speaker 4: you're a new GM.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I wonder what it's.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Like to like push push to get it, like strategically
- 19:18Speaker 4: making moves. What is that to me as a player.
- 19:21Speaker 4: If I'm on this team and you say we're trading
- 19:25Speaker 4: our star. I think Sandy's the star. I think he's
- 19:27Speaker 4: the leader. I think he's the rare case of a
- 19:30Speaker 4: pitcher being a leader in a clubhouse because he's the vet.
- 19:33Speaker 4: I just think I think it sends a bad message
- 19:37Speaker 4: to young guys that you're building around. From co nine
- 19:41Speaker 4: to to Otto Lopez, to Liam Hicks to Joe mack all.
- 19:48Speaker 4: These guys, you're you're you're able to set a tone
- 19:51Speaker 4: that's saying you guys, play this well, We're gonna keep pushing.
- 19:55Speaker 4: We're gonna move in. Not strategic. I'm not saying gout
- 19:58Speaker 4: the whole team to be in tear York Schooble. I'm saying,
- 20:01Speaker 4: make moves. That tells this team we believe in you.
- 20:05Speaker 4: And when you don't make moves as a GM, it
- 20:07Speaker 4: tells me you're not believing in me.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 20:12Speaker 5: It's time, it's time do a little something, do a
- 20:14Speaker 5: little push. I love to see this news.
- 20:16Speaker 3: That's all the Marlin's likely to keep Sandy in ad strategically.
- 20:20Speaker 3: That excites fans and gives them a little hope heading
- 20:23Speaker 3: into the trade deadline this year. Scott murkantweeting Ale Central
- 20:28Speaker 3: Final weekend before the All Star Break, White Sox forty
- 20:30Speaker 3: seven and forty five taken on the as Guardians forty
- 20:33Speaker 3: eight and forty six matching up in Miami, Twins forty
- 20:36Speaker 3: six and forty eight against the Angels, Tigers are forty
- 20:39Speaker 3: three and fifty facing the Phillies, and then it's the
- 20:42Speaker 3: Royals at thirty eight and fifty six in Baltimore. How
- 20:47Speaker 3: does the standings board look to you? Like, Todd, Father,
- 20:50Speaker 3: if I told you, hey, this is what the standings
- 20:51Speaker 3: board looks like heading into the final weekend before the
- 20:54Speaker 3: All Star break. But I told you this March twenty fifth,
- 20:57Speaker 3: what would you have said.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Baby the Royal Jesus?
- 21:04Speaker 6: I would say one? And where did this White Sox
- 21:07Speaker 6: team come from?
- 21:08Speaker 2: Too?
- 21:08Speaker 6: So this is great for baseball. The different teams. A
- 21:12Speaker 6: lot of teams went out and bought some players. A
- 21:15Speaker 6: lot of teams that you don't think about that are
- 21:17Speaker 6: going out there in the offseason finding guys and making
- 21:20Speaker 6: some moves. Gratzy, I think it's fantastic. The Guardians are
- 21:24Speaker 6: gonna have to battle. The Twins are starting to make
- 21:25Speaker 6: a move. It's uh, don't give me that face. I
- 21:28Speaker 6: think it's absolutely awesome for the Al Central and it's
- 21:32Speaker 6: gonna be a battle until the finish.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Tod, I'm glad this is a break because you said
- 21:37Speaker 4: some of these teams went out and bought some players.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Who on Earth did the Ale Central go out and
- 21:42Speaker 4: buy fran Bervaldez and you'r commy Munitak.
- 21:47Speaker 2: What yeah? Players, that's that's that's more than one.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Wow. The ale Central was just so active in buying players.
- 21:55Speaker 6: Listen, No, I'm not a big I don't watch ale
- 21:58Speaker 6: Central that much, but I'm letting you know that a
- 22:02Speaker 6: lot of teams did it, and for the al Central,
- 22:04Speaker 6: it's fantastic to see.
- 22:06Speaker 4: End of the All Star Break or the All Star
- 22:08Speaker 4: Break going any the All's Break, we were in first
- 22:10Speaker 4: place and we were playing the Pirates. When I was
- 22:12Speaker 4: with the Brewers, we had a five game series in
- 22:14Speaker 4: four days. We lost all freaking five games. Oh, and
- 22:20Speaker 4: I let the ball go through my legs play at
- 22:22Speaker 4: the plate to lose it in game five of that series.
- 22:26Speaker 4: I had to go home. It was the worst All
- 22:28Speaker 4: Star break to the point where where we went on
- 22:31Speaker 4: vacation at the All Star Break. I've been back plenty
- 22:34Speaker 4: of times. I go back every year. It's still for
- 22:37Speaker 4: years afterwards. Had it like sunken feeling because I screwed
- 22:41Speaker 4: this up and we had lost five games, and I'm like,
- 22:44Speaker 4: oh my gosh, I'm getting traded.
- 22:46Speaker 2: I'm done.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Jt Realmuto is out there, he's with the Marlins. Oh
- 22:49Speaker 4: he's going to get traded to the Brewers. I'm cooked.
- 22:52Speaker 4: See it later. I'll be on vacation for the rest
- 22:54Speaker 4: of the summer after this like it was, but you
- 22:58Speaker 4: know what, it didn't happen. Thank you Brewers for not
- 23:01Speaker 4: making moves.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Hey for the families out there looking for a different
- 23:05Speaker 3: path to help your child succeed at home, looking to

- 23:19Speaker 3: done the homeschooling thing in the past.
- 23:20Speaker 5: I know you liked it.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I did. I liked it a lot. All my
- 23:24Speaker 2: kids have done it before.
- 23:25Speaker 6: It's an opportunity for them to stay at home and
- 23:29Speaker 6: enjoy school just as much. They learn a lot. And
- 23:32Speaker 6: this is an opportunity for families that are on the

- 23:37Speaker 6: be at a regular school at all times. I need
- 23:40Speaker 6: my child to be doing this, whether it's an athletic career,
- 23:42Speaker 6: whatever stature they are at. And we loved every second
- 23:46Speaker 6: of it, and I think it is an easy opportunity

- 24:08Speaker 3: Let's hit this article that just broke with Aaron Gleaman
- 24:13Speaker 3: for his website Aaron gleaman dot Com covering the Minnesota Twins.
- 24:16Speaker 3: He actually had breakfast with the control dude of the Twins.
- 24:20Speaker 3: That's Tom Polad who took over, right, He's the guy
- 24:23Speaker 3: that took over and started talking a lot this past
- 24:25Speaker 3: offseason like, no, we're gonna be good, We've got to
- 24:28Speaker 3: win all of that, and Twins fans are like, cool,
- 24:31Speaker 3: So you just gave us a different first name with
- 24:35Speaker 3: the same last name and the same game plan and
- 24:37Speaker 3: the skit was another thirty million off of the payroll.
- 24:40Speaker 3: So I'll try and summarize what was going on here, Kratz.
- 24:44Speaker 3: We talk about this team and this situation quite a bit.
- 24:46Speaker 3: The Twins are playing well. I think they're playing above
- 24:49Speaker 3: their skis right now. I think they've got some players
- 24:51Speaker 3: that you have helped the cause with a manager and
- 24:54Speaker 3: Derek Shelton, who knows how to do I think a
- 24:56Speaker 3: good amount with a little bit, but the conversation revolved
- 25:00Speaker 3: around how they basically can't really invest in the team
- 25:03Speaker 3: until they win. If they win, then they can put
- 25:05Speaker 3: more money into the team. You know, so the lemonade
- 25:08Speaker 3: stand is going to have terrible lemonade, but if some
- 25:12Speaker 3: people fall for it and buy it, then they get
- 25:15Speaker 3: some money and then they can buy better materials for
- 25:18Speaker 3: their lemonade. Oh wait, but these are billionaires and they
- 25:21Speaker 3: could invest in the team.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Then whin.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Then that's how you turn yourself into a powerhouse and
- 25:27Speaker 3: a place that people want to go to. Oh not
- 25:28Speaker 3: to mention you would win your fan base over because
- 25:31Speaker 3: they've been kicked around so that. I mean, I read
- 25:33Speaker 3: through it quickly because it happened during the show, But
- 25:36Speaker 3: I was like, wait, is he hearing.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Himself on this? Does he?
- 25:41Speaker 4: I mean, this is a great way to run a company.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Do not grow. Do not own a company that fills
- 25:46Speaker 4: boxes and make a massive warehouse before you have the business.
- 25:51Speaker 4: I get that great job. That's how you run a company.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Does he know he owns a sports franchise? Does he
- 25:58Speaker 4: know he owns a team that wears the city's name
- 26:02Speaker 4: on the front that fans want to come out and
- 26:05Speaker 4: support that. If you invest in this team, and you
- 26:08Speaker 4: invest in players, they'll play better and then you'll win.
- 26:15Speaker 4: But first you have to figure out how to win
- 26:17Speaker 4: before I start spending money. Wait a minute, they made
- 26:20Speaker 4: the playoffs the other year they invested in Carlos Korea,
- 26:24Speaker 4: and then they said, well, we don't have a lot
- 26:27Speaker 4: of money, so maybe he wasn't there. I get it.
- 26:30Speaker 4: It's a different first name, but it's the same family.
- 26:32Speaker 4: I know he's been in all those meetings. Like I
- 26:35Speaker 4: just this is a This is where I have a
- 26:39Speaker 4: disconnect with owners that own baseball teams. Go own a business,
- 26:44Speaker 4: go in a business, do exactly what you just said,
- 26:47Speaker 4: don't overextend yourself. Wait for the customers to come in.
- 26:51Speaker 4: But when you own a sports team, you owe it
- 26:52Speaker 4: to the city, and you owe it to the franchise,
- 26:55Speaker 4: the history of the franchise, to invest some money into it,
- 26:59Speaker 4: to put the best player out of the field. For
- 27:01Speaker 4: those fans, these quotes are pretty remarkable.
- 27:07Speaker 6: So just just reading some of them about Bill the Bennis,
- 27:10Speaker 6: we got to win, and to win, we got to
- 27:12Speaker 6: put a better product on the field. There doesn't need
- 27:14Speaker 6: to be an upfront investment made, and then they talk
- 27:16Speaker 6: about being successful. I don't know, it's very confusing to me.
- 27:21Speaker 6: I think Kratzy hit it right, like, listen, you have
- 27:24Speaker 6: to invest in your players, and you have to put
- 27:27Speaker 6: money to get some of the better players to win,
- 27:30Speaker 6: and that's how you win ball games.
- 27:32Speaker 4: I even I'll even go, I'll even go farther than that.
- 27:34Speaker 4: They had Carlos Korea, who since got dumped. If you're
- 27:39Speaker 4: a Minnesota fan, let's say you're twelve years old when
- 27:42Speaker 4: he gets when he gets signed, you're like, oh my gosh,
- 27:45Speaker 4: Carlos Carrey is going to be here for seven eight
- 27:47Speaker 4: years whatever that contract was. I wanted Carlos Karrea jersey. Yeah,
- 27:51Speaker 4: I'm behind that. Now that Carlos Karrea jersey's at the
- 27:54Speaker 4: gift and thrift, it is at the local. You know,
- 27:57Speaker 4: maybe he grew out of it, but he's always going
- 27:59Speaker 4: to remember that. And I think that's the nostalgia that
- 28:01Speaker 4: I have for baseball and when a when a owner
- 28:06Speaker 4: does this type of thing or runs his team this
- 28:09Speaker 4: type of where thinks he needs to run his business.
- 28:12Speaker 4: It's not a business. It's a team that will make
- 28:14Speaker 4: you money in the long run. Put something into it.
- 28:17Speaker 4: If you don't want that, don't own the team. That's
- 28:20Speaker 4: and maybe I'm completely off and this is the player's
- 28:24Speaker 4: point of view, but I'm also thinking of it as
- 28:25Speaker 4: a fan because I've been a fan way longer than
- 28:28Speaker 4: I was a player.
- 28:30Speaker 3: I agree, yeah, And I've studied this franchise quite a bit.
- 28:36Speaker 3: You know, if you're just tuning in and you're like, oh, well,
- 28:39Speaker 3: you know, the Twins are a smaller market.
- 28:41Speaker 5: They can't keep up with the big boys.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Nobody's asking them to have a five hundred million dollar payroll, right,
- 28:46Speaker 3: That's not the problem here. The problem here is that
- 28:48Speaker 3: they did build something. They went through a rebuild, they
- 28:52Speaker 3: got to the playoffs, they got over the humping around,
- 28:54Speaker 3: and then right after that they started tearing it down.
- 28:57Speaker 3: That's a movie, and that's what happened. And it still
- 29:00Speaker 3: happened even when they switched it over to a different
- 29:04Speaker 3: owner within the family, who is going to be in charge.
- 29:07Speaker 3: So the thirty million dollar increase from last season or
- 29:10Speaker 3: decrease i should say in payroll sixty million decrease from
- 29:14Speaker 3: twenty twenty three, like it keeps going down while the
- 29:17Speaker 3: sport revenue keeps going up. It's just too much for
- 29:21Speaker 3: fans out there, and they're lost and they're just looking
- 29:23Speaker 3: for that one line. They're looking for this breakfast to
- 29:25Speaker 3: be like, hey, we get it. We have to invest
- 29:29Speaker 3: a little bit more on what's going on here. We're
- 29:31Speaker 3: not going to trade one third of our roster at
- 29:34Speaker 3: the trade deadline. There's so much of that happening that
- 29:36Speaker 3: you're expecting. And then really, I think he goes into
- 29:39Speaker 3: a breakfast like this going I think I'm going to
- 29:41Speaker 3: drop an F bomb, and then that will really be
- 29:43Speaker 3: the headliner and it will work. That's what happened here.
- 29:46Speaker 3: It's real, right, he said in this quote. But when
- 29:49Speaker 3: we make an investment, we have to be successful. We
- 29:51Speaker 3: have to fucking win. If we do that, then people
- 29:54Speaker 3: will come and it will all work.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Well, yeah, that's true.
- 29:57Speaker 6: I mean that's everybody's quote, right, that's like one oh
- 30:02Speaker 6: one right there, Baseball one oh one.
- 30:04Speaker 4: But I don't think that's just I don't think that's
- 30:06Speaker 4: just true feeling.
- 30:07Speaker 2: I don't think with everything else being said.
- 30:10Speaker 4: With everything else being said, but one hundred million dollars
- 30:12Speaker 4: pay roll is not going to get the job done.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Trying to accomplish the kinds of things we want to accomplish,
- 30:17Speaker 4: we've got to be competitive. Consistently. That part of it
- 30:22Speaker 4: is that part like scratches my brain. So you're saying,
- 30:26Speaker 4: if they make the playoffs this year, which they're in it, Ah,
- 30:30Speaker 4: you know what, that's not quite enough. You know what
- 30:32Speaker 4: we need. We need to find three MVP candidates that
- 30:36Speaker 4: are going to be controlled for the next six years
- 30:38Speaker 4: on this organization and we're going to continue like what
- 30:41Speaker 4: is he like? We need to be competitive consistently, that's
- 30:44Speaker 4: the baseline, and then we've got to be willing to
- 30:47Speaker 4: make investments and make bold moves that allow us to
- 30:49Speaker 4: be successful in the playoffs. Bro, you got them?
- 30:55Speaker 3: Sorry, it's hard maybe and sweat Yeah, Twins fans are
- 31:01Speaker 3: going through this right now. So you're just you're looking
- 31:03Speaker 3: for a better sign than what you're getting here from
- 31:05Speaker 3: the group. And when a new person comes in within
- 31:08Speaker 3: the same family and says things are going to be different,
- 31:10Speaker 3: but they're not different.
- 31:11Speaker 5: It's just a tough case because you're.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Looking at a team right now where're like, imagine if
- 31:15Speaker 3: they did a little bit. Imagine if instead of slashing
- 31:18Speaker 3: payroll left and right, they had added a little bit.
- 31:20Speaker 3: And that's not the only answer. You can make poor
- 31:23Speaker 3: decisions through free agency and trades. Like I'm not saying
- 31:25Speaker 3: that's the end all be all, but it's just hard
- 31:28Speaker 3: when you're like, things are different now I'm dropping f
- 31:30Speaker 3: bombs to win, but it's like, but wait, things aren't
- 31:32Speaker 3: different at all. It's the same thing. You're just messaging different.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Like the messaging is F bomb We have to win versus.
- 31:38Speaker 3: The last guy was talking about not the specifics of
- 31:41Speaker 3: the books, but he would use like portfolio revenue whatever,
- 31:44Speaker 3: and it was really off, and it was it was
- 31:47Speaker 3: messing people up where they're like, dude, do you even
- 31:49Speaker 3: know that you're owning a baseball team right now?
- 31:52Speaker 4: Scott? Isn't this the same person? When the team was
- 31:55Speaker 4: going up for sale that a sale issue kind of
- 31:59Speaker 4: fell through because one of the pole ads wanted was
- 32:02Speaker 4: it Tom that wanted to stay part of this?
- 32:05Speaker 3: Well that was I don't know if that's what broke
- 32:07Speaker 3: it up. We don't know all but what happened was, yeah, yeah,
- 32:11Speaker 3: the twins were trying to sell.
- 32:12Speaker 5: They set a price.
- 32:13Speaker 3: People offer them a price that I think is super fair,
- 32:15Speaker 3: and they'd be you know, whatever the number was, I
- 32:18Speaker 3: don't have it right in front of me, but like,
- 32:20Speaker 3: let's say they wanted you know one point nine and
- 32:22Speaker 3: they're only getting one point seven bill. Like we're talking
- 32:25Speaker 3: about stupid money here for people that are just sitting
- 32:27Speaker 3: there waiting. And yeah, a part of this sounded like
- 32:31Speaker 3: they wanted someone to stay on. And and of course
- 32:34Speaker 3: if you're an owner of a team trying to take over,
- 32:37Speaker 3: you're like get out of here asap, Like get out
- 32:39Speaker 3: of here yesterday when I take over the team. I
- 32:42Speaker 3: don't think that was holding it back though. I think
- 32:43Speaker 3: what was holding it back was they wanted a certain
- 32:46Speaker 3: price and they were not getting to that price.
- 32:48Speaker 5: There's there's about five.
- 32:50Speaker 3: Ownership groups right now that are just waiting for the
- 32:52Speaker 3: CBA to pass, and they are then going to sell
- 32:55Speaker 3: after that, but they at this point are being advised
- 32:58Speaker 3: there's a chance their franchise values go up hundreds of
- 33:01Speaker 3: millions of dollars overnight with the next CBA. And even
- 33:04Speaker 3: with that chance, of course, anybody's going to hold on.
- 33:07Speaker 3: So that's what happened here is they were like, we're
- 33:09Speaker 3: setting this price, it's above the market value, but if
- 33:12Speaker 3: you don't need it, we're just going to wait because
- 33:14Speaker 3: we might make a lot more money. That's what's really
- 33:16Speaker 3: going on, right That's what this show is for. So
- 33:19Speaker 3: just letting you guys knowed Twins fans.
- 33:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm pissed for Twins fans. I really am, because
- 33:24Speaker 4: I love that stadium, I love the area. It might
- 33:27Speaker 4: be a little cold in April. I get that, there's
- 33:30Speaker 4: plenty of places that's cold in April, but there's something
- 33:33Speaker 4: about that stadium and just the city around it that
- 33:36Speaker 4: I really always enjoyed going to and it makes me mad.
- 33:40Speaker 4: Sorry yep.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Well, at least they sold Louis Varland's last year and
- 33:45Speaker 3: didn't even need to. It wasn't even making money, so
- 33:48Speaker 3: I don't know the frustration. And the team's playing okay. Yeah,
- 33:50Speaker 3: and for Varland it's worked out great. For every day
- 33:53Speaker 3: Louis out in Toronto. Thoughts on this tell us if
- 33:56Speaker 3: we're wrong, we're missing something. But you know, you're just
- 33:58Speaker 3: looking for a better sign from the leader, the spokesman
- 34:02Speaker 3: of the team say, everyone.
- 34:04Speaker 5: Monday be Poker.
