- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to college football addiction. A massive one for
- 0:04Speaker 1: both Notre Dame and BYU this week out in Provo.
- 0:07Speaker 1: We are presented by prize picks more on them in
- 0:09Speaker 1: just a minute, but Joe, we've waited all year. Notre
- 0:14Speaker 1: Dame schedule, much maligned. Most people love spending time talking
- 0:18Speaker 1: about it, but they are going on the road to
- 0:20Speaker 1: play a Thompson team this weekend. So all the scheduled
- 0:23Speaker 1: talk will at least have to wait a little while before,
- 0:26Speaker 1: before we jump back into it. I also will say,
- 0:28Speaker 1: I think it's a little unfair because most of these
- 0:30Speaker 1: schedules are set years and years in advance and you can't,
- 0:35Speaker 1: it's not Notre Dame's fault that all these teams that
- 0:37Speaker 1: they scheduled years ago suck this year. But we're at
- 0:41Speaker 1: least not going to belabor that point today because of
- 0:44Speaker 1: who they play a massive opportunity for Notre Dame to
- 0:47Speaker 1: go get a huge win on the road. And my
- 0:50Speaker 1: take on this is this. I think Notre Dame's kind
- 0:54Speaker 1: of like, damned if you do, damned if you don't.
- 0:56Speaker 1: BYU is a really good team. Now, I know there's
- 0:58Speaker 1: the question of, are they an elite team? But I
- 1:01Speaker 1: worry a little bit about this game. The perception is,
- 1:03Speaker 1: if Notre Dame goes in and wins, I think people
- 1:05Speaker 1: will say, yeah, but it was just BYU.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I don't think that should be the case.
- 1:08Speaker 1: If they go get this win this weekend, and certainly
- 1:10Speaker 1: if they go get this win convincingly, it is an
- 1:12Speaker 1: absolute resume builder and something that should not just be
- 1:16Speaker 1: taken as, ah, well, it was just little old BYU.
- 1:20Speaker 3: So first of all, the schedule thing, the funny thing
- 1:22Speaker 3: about Notre Dame schedule this year is that Wisconsin, which
- 1:26Speaker 3: was viewed as like a nothing win, like it shouldn't
- 1:28Speaker 3: count towards anything. I don't think Wisconsin is going to
- 1:31Speaker 3: finish the year ranked, but.
- 1:33Speaker 4: They've been stacking. They've been getting a lot better. I
- 1:35Speaker 4: think that there's certainly a path for them.
- 1:36Speaker 3: If they finish eight and four, that it certainly at
- 1:38Speaker 3: least looks like you could, everybody's going to complain. It's like,
- 1:41Speaker 3: how different is that from beating a theoretically an eight
- 1:45Speaker 3: and four Kentucky team? If that's where Kentucky finishes, Kentucky
- 1:47Speaker 3: is a better team. It's not probably the best example, but,
- 1:50Speaker 3: You're beating a team that's towards the upper middle pack
- 1:53Speaker 3: of the Big Ten. I think that that's certainly going
- 1:55Speaker 3: to help Notre Dame's case. But here's the problem with
- 1:57Speaker 3: the BYU game is that they're without their best player.
- 2:00Speaker 4: LJ Martin's hurt.
- 2:01Speaker 3: So as soon as Notre Dame wins this game, and
- 2:04Speaker 3: knock on wood for that occurring, everybody immediately coming out
- 2:08Speaker 3: of it is, well, they didn't have LJ Martin. This
- 2:10Speaker 3: is just naturally the world that Notre Dame lives in,
- 2:13Speaker 3: Notre Dame fans live in, is that Whenever there's a
- 2:15Speaker 3: big win and there's a really high-quality matchup against, as
- 2:19Speaker 3: you stated, BYU has a good roster.
- 2:21Speaker 4: They have a good defense.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Notre Dame is going to Provo, which is one of
- 2:25Speaker 3: the hardest places to play in the Big 12. It's
- 2:28Speaker 3: one of the most underrated environments in college football. We've
- 2:31Speaker 3: seen plenty of teams get swallowed by this environment. So
- 2:34Speaker 3: it's not like you walk in, smoke them, and then
- 2:38Speaker 3: walk out. If they overlook them, it's going to be
- 2:40Speaker 3: a legitimate challenge. But the thing is that naturally... fans
- 2:43Speaker 3: from other conferences, probably mostly the SEC, and probably a
- 2:47Speaker 3: lot of Miami fans that like to, for some reason,
- 2:49Speaker 3: say that the Notre Dame schedule is easier than Miami's,
- 2:52Speaker 3: which is just not the case. A lot of people
- 2:55Speaker 3: are going to downplay this because they're going to say, well,
- 2:57Speaker 3: BYU wasn't good in the first place, they were overranked,
- 2:59Speaker 3: and also LJ Martin was out, so how impressive is
- 3:01Speaker 3: this win anyways? I think that that is wrong, but
- 3:05Speaker 3: I do think that it certainly makes the matchup easier
- 3:08Speaker 3: for Notre Dame that they're not going to have to
- 3:09Speaker 3: deal with. The guy who centers their entire offense around.
- 3:13Speaker 3: They build their entire offense around being able to run
- 3:15Speaker 3: the rock with their big bruising back.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it is unfortunate just, and it's probably good
- 3:21Speaker 1: for Notre Dame, not from a resume standpoint, but just
- 3:23Speaker 1: from a game play standpoint that you don't have LJ
- 3:26Speaker 1: Martin in there, who is one of the better backs
- 3:27Speaker 1: in the country. And certainly, I mean, last year was
- 3:29Speaker 1: the big 12 offensive player of the year. Before his injuries,
- 3:33Speaker 1: he was pacing towards resetting BYU's all-time leading rushing record.
- 3:37Speaker 2: So it's not just a one-off thing.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Like he's had a really good career And hopefully he
- 3:40Speaker 1: can get back later in this year and continue his
- 3:44Speaker 1: climb up the history books.
- 3:45Speaker 2: There in Provo.
- 3:47Speaker 1: One place they are really, really good, and I know
- 3:49Speaker 1: there's some questions around Andrew Gentry, their offensive lineman at
- 3:52Speaker 1: that right tackle spot.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Their offensive line has been really good.
- 3:55Speaker 1: This year they're averaging over three yards a carry before
- 4:00Speaker 1: being touched. My buddy Graham Coffey over at Dog Central
- 4:03Speaker 1: has put together a bunch of advanced analytics on just
- 4:08Speaker 1: you know, offensive line, defensive line, trench stats, BYU is
- 4:11Speaker 1: number one in the country at rushing yards before contact
- 4:15Speaker 1: at three, uh, spoiler FSU is last in the country
- 4:19Speaker 1: just to let you know.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Uh, so they're not very good at it, but, uh,
- 4:23Speaker 2: BYU is really good there.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And, and as good as LJ is, and I don't
- 4:26Speaker 1: want to take away from him at all, they still
- 4:28Speaker 1: do a really, really good job up front. Now, I
- 4:30Speaker 1: don't know that they'll have seen a defensive front that
- 4:33Speaker 1: has this much talent. Uh, TC uses is good. I,
- 4:36Speaker 1: I like, uh, some things that Arizona does as well,
- 4:39Speaker 1: but certainly going to get their biggest test of the
- 4:41Speaker 1: year thoughts on just, you know, whoever it ends up being,
- 4:45Speaker 1: whether it's Moa back there, um, whoever has to tote
- 4:49Speaker 1: the rock bear obviously has really good legs too. Um,
- 4:53Speaker 1: thoughts on Notre Dame's defensive front going up against, I
- 4:56Speaker 1: think a top 10 offensive line in the country and
- 4:58Speaker 1: probably the best one in the big 12. I'll get
- 5:00Speaker 1: right back to chatting with Joe, but first we're going
- 5:02Speaker 1: to make a few picks. Make sure you are on
- 5:04Speaker 1: the prize picks app, all new users who play a
- 5:06Speaker 1: $ 5 lineup and win get 150 in lineups instantly. If
- 5:10Speaker 1: they use code HMA, give me bear to throw a
- 5:12Speaker 1: passing touchdown in this game.
- 5:14Speaker 2: You can get it at 0.5. Love that.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Give me Jonas Walton to go over 29.5 rushing yards.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I've got that teased down just a little bit. And
- 5:23Speaker 1: give me Journey Tonga to go for 19.5 rushing yards
- 5:26Speaker 1: as well.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I'll take the more on all three. Now, back to
- 5:30Speaker 2: chatting with Joe. Go check out the PrizePix app.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Well, to that point, I think that so far this
- 5:35Speaker 3: season we've seen that this BYU offensive line has been
- 5:39Speaker 3: the best, and I think that that's what you need
- 5:41Speaker 3: to be good in the Big.
- 5:42Speaker 4: 12 is that you need to have.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Offensive and defensive line play that matches the Big Ten
- 5:49Speaker 3: and the SEC. Because across the board, outside of maybe
- 5:51Speaker 3: the top of the conference, most of these teams don't
- 5:54Speaker 3: really put together units that are going to be able
- 5:57Speaker 3: to challenge these premier teams in college football, which is
- 5:59Speaker 3: critical for a matchup when you're facing off with Notre Dame.
- 6:02Speaker 3: But the thing that I would bring up is that
- 6:04Speaker 3: I don't think that this offensive line has been nearly.
- 6:07Speaker 4: this challenge. That shouldn't, it's not really a hot take.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Notre Dame's defensive line is the deepest it's been under
- 6:12Speaker 3: Marcus Freeman. They have a very physical group. They rotate
- 6:16Speaker 3: a lot of bodies in. They're able to come downhill.
- 6:19Speaker 3: And I think that the part that makes this team
- 6:22Speaker 3: extremely dangerous right now is like, you got guys like
- 6:24Speaker 3: Bubba Cartreori that are just wreaking havoc. Bryce Young at
- 6:27Speaker 3: moments has had a couple of flashes. And those guys
- 6:31Speaker 3: aren't just really good college offensive linemen. Those are guys
- 6:34Speaker 3: that Boubacar was in the mix to possibly be a
- 6:36Speaker 3: first-rounder this year, and I think that he's possibly moving
- 6:39Speaker 3: in that direction at the very least, a top-50 pick.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Bryce Young, former five-star, has always had that pedigree with
- 6:44Speaker 3: his dad being an NFL Hall of Famer with the
- 6:47Speaker 3: 49ers and former Notre Dame player as well himself. The
- 6:51Speaker 3: group that they have just on their defensive line alone
- 6:54Speaker 3: is one of the best in the country. And I
- 6:56Speaker 3: know that BYU fans are very proud of their linebackers,
- 7:01Speaker 3: and this is kind of this has been a very
- 7:02Speaker 3: toxic discourse that's been happening between BYU and Notre Dame fans.
- 7:05Speaker 3: A lot of BYU fans are convinced that their defense
- 7:07Speaker 3: is better than Notre Dame's.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Their linebackers are good.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Cade Uluwabe is a very good player. Glasker's been banged up.
- 7:14Speaker 3: I'm not sure when I did the preview on Rufino
- 7:16Speaker 3: and Joe Shaw on Monday, there wasn't really much of
- 7:18Speaker 3: an update on his current status, but his availability is
- 7:21Speaker 3: obviously critical because he's very productive within this defense. Notre
- 7:24Speaker 3: Dame's linebackers are much more explosive, and they're also, it's
- 7:29Speaker 3: another position group that are, it's a lot deeper. They've
- 7:32Speaker 3: just got so many different guys that they can bring
- 7:34Speaker 3: onto the field across the board, and they've got ridiculous size.
- 7:38Speaker 3: You could even throw some of the safeties into the mix,
- 7:39Speaker 3: like Luke Talich's gigantic, what they get out of him
- 7:43Speaker 3: and the plays that he makes over the top. That
- 7:45Speaker 3: is all going to come down to how effectively they're
- 7:48Speaker 3: going to be able to slow down this run game.
- 7:50Speaker 3: And here's the big thing that, like, for me, that
- 7:53Speaker 3: I feel naturally might get overlooked by BYU fans that
- 7:56Speaker 3: are hyped up about, you know, BYU coming into this
- 7:59Speaker 3: game with their really good offensive line and not having
- 8:01Speaker 3: Martin and still believing like we're still going to run
- 8:03Speaker 3: the ball really well.
- 8:04Speaker 4: You saw in the TCU game that you couldn't really
- 8:06Speaker 4: move the ball. And against Iowa State, Bear Bachmeier was tremendous.
- 8:11Speaker 3: He had an awesome game, but the performance that he had,
- 8:16Speaker 3: like him having to be all of your rushing production
- 8:19Speaker 3: and then not having anybody else to really turn to,
- 8:22Speaker 3: that to me is a red flag. If you have
- 8:25Speaker 3: to get 100 yards rushing out of your quarterback in
- 8:28Speaker 3: order to be able to have a ground game, Notre
- 8:31Speaker 3: Dame should be beyond excited about the opportunity ahead of them.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I think that Bachmeier has grown a ton over the
- 8:37Speaker 3: past few years, or not few years, since last season.
- 8:41Speaker 4: I don't know why I said it like that.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Last season he's grown a lot, but historically he has
- 8:45Speaker 3: not performed well against top defensive lines. The two worst
- 8:49Speaker 3: games that he had last year were against Texas Tech.
- 8:52Speaker 3: We're going to find out how does he handle the
- 8:53Speaker 3: pressure when they're potentially going to be coming after him.
- 8:57Speaker 3: How does he hang in the pocket and can Notre
- 8:59Speaker 3: Dame keep him in front of them and prevent him
- 9:02Speaker 3: from picking up huge gains on the ground?
- 9:05Speaker 1: That is kind of where I was going next. I,
- 9:07Speaker 1: I think if you're asking bear to go for 300
- 9:11Speaker 1: and 100 against this Notre Dame defense so that you
- 9:13Speaker 1: can win the game, like, Heisman guys, guys have legacy
- 9:18Speaker 1: type moments. And so I, you know, certainly anything's possible.
- 9:21Speaker 1: You know, you get beat a couple of times deep.
- 9:24Speaker 1: He gets one long rush off. And I don't even
- 9:26Speaker 1: know that one long rush is the greatest thing. Like
- 9:28Speaker 1: he has one rush for 65 yards. And, and it,
- 9:32Speaker 1: you know, it's almost more dangerous if he gets a
- 9:33Speaker 1: hundred yards on the ground and it's just a consistent,
- 9:36Speaker 1: like every third and seven, he's picking up eight or nine,
- 9:38Speaker 1: you know, you don't want, if you're Notre Dame, you know,
- 9:40Speaker 1: all right, you can have your one long explosive and
- 9:42Speaker 1: then we're going to shut you down for the rest
- 9:44Speaker 1: of the game and like bring it on.
- 9:46Speaker 2: So how you get those yards matters, right?
- 9:49Speaker 1: Does that 300 yards passing or anything close to it
- 9:52Speaker 1: come when you're down 17 and you're passing on every play,
- 9:55Speaker 1: you know, like there's some misleading ways to do it.
- 9:57Speaker 1: But again, to go back to the main point, if
- 10:00Speaker 1: that's what they were asking him to do, which I
- 10:02Speaker 1: don't think they will, right?
- 10:03Speaker 2: Like they'll try and establish the run. I saw Moa
- 10:05Speaker 2: was cleared. You're right on Glasgow.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Still kind of uncertain, but he's not ruled out, at
- 10:09Speaker 1: least at this point as a linebacker. Um, they're certainly
- 10:12Speaker 1: not going to ask him to do that much, but
- 10:13Speaker 1: his ability at times and just his growth does certainly
- 10:17Speaker 1: present a different kind of challenge. And so I do
- 10:20Speaker 1: think if you're Notre Dame and you're able to not
- 10:24Speaker 1: even make him ineffective, but if you're just able to
- 10:26Speaker 1: limit his effectiveness, it makes the road really, really tough
- 10:31Speaker 1: for BYU. I would imagine BYU wants this game to
- 10:34Speaker 1: be pretty low scoring and, their offense without LJ and
- 10:38Speaker 1: even with LJ wasn't like insanely explosive throughout this year.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And again, they're playing the best defense that they will
- 10:44Speaker 1: have seen this season. So I would think they won't
- 10:48Speaker 1: ask bear to do too much, but he has shown
- 10:51Speaker 1: at times that he can kind of make some things happen,
- 10:54Speaker 1: make some magic happen wearing that number 47 Jersey. So
- 10:57Speaker 1: how much they can limit him because it all at
- 11:00Speaker 1: this point seems to go through him with LJ out.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Well, it, See, my big thing with this is I
- 11:07Speaker 3: think that if you're Notre Dame, I think that the
- 11:08Speaker 3: center of your game plan just needs to be about
- 11:12Speaker 3: completely neutralizing Bear Bachmeier because they've got some solid, growing,
- 11:17Speaker 3: developing pieces at wide receiver. Like, Glasker has... The other
- 11:22Speaker 3: Glasker has stepped up. Legend Glasker, a tremendous name that
- 11:25Speaker 3: he's got, has.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Basically played for the.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I actually don't even know if Legends is a
- 11:31Speaker 3: real first name or not. You never really know with
- 11:32Speaker 3: these things. He has been... key piece for this passing attack,
- 11:37Speaker 3: but the weaponry that they have available is above average.
- 11:43Speaker 4: For the big 12.
- 11:44Speaker 3: It's solid generally, but their passing production has relied upon
- 11:49Speaker 3: the fact that bear Bachmeier has had time in the pocket.
- 11:52Speaker 3: And he said time to attack and gash opposing defense,
- 11:54Speaker 3: like the Iowa state game. And I was watching that
- 11:56Speaker 3: this past Friday, he had a ton of room to
- 11:58Speaker 3: operate and allowed for him to break free as well
- 12:01Speaker 3: as to connect with his guys and just produce these huge,
- 12:03Speaker 3: big splash plays through the air.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Um, And I just don't see.
- 12:08Speaker 3: I'm sure that there will be occasional big player or
- 12:10Speaker 3: whatnot through the air in this game, but I just
- 12:12Speaker 3: don't see one of these receivers really dominating this Notre
- 12:16Speaker 3: Dame secondary. That's what they're going to need for this
- 12:18Speaker 3: to happen. As you said, unless you're putting all of
- 12:20Speaker 3: this on Bachmeier to win the game for you and
- 12:23Speaker 3: for him to get a ton of touches as a
- 12:25Speaker 3: rusher and for them needing a 300-yard game out of him,
- 12:29Speaker 3: they're going to need one of these receivers to go off.
- 12:31Speaker 3: And which matchup is going to get exposed... in this
- 12:35Speaker 3: Notre Dame secondary. I know Leonard Moore has been dealing
- 12:37Speaker 3: with a concussion. I don't believe that there's a clarification
- 12:41Speaker 3: on that at the time that we're taping this.
- 12:43Speaker 4: But D.J.
- 12:44Speaker 3: McKinney has been awesome. He's one of the most unheralded
- 12:46Speaker 3: corners in college football this year. This group that they have,
- 12:51Speaker 3: every single position group for Notre Dame on defense, it's very,
- 12:55Speaker 3: very deep. And I think that this is just a
- 12:57Speaker 3: brutal spot for BYU to be in to try and
- 13:00Speaker 3: produce big plays.
- 13:01Speaker 4: I sadly think that Bachmeier could have an awesome.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Game but does he need to just go bonkers stupid
- 13:08Speaker 3: Heisman level to win in the game? Because there's just,
- 13:12Speaker 3: there's just no Avenue. Otherwise I think, I feel like
- 13:15Speaker 3: that that's the biggest hurdle it's standing in their way.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's, you know, if you're looking
- 13:20Speaker 1: for like the perfect scenario and if you're trying to
- 13:22Speaker 1: not count, you know, the idea of him having a
- 13:27Speaker 1: legacy type game, you certainly would need this defense, which
- 13:31Speaker 1: has been good. But again, as tested, I will say,
- 13:34Speaker 1: I think I like Arizona's offense a lot. I think
- 13:36Speaker 1: what they did against Fafita and that offense was, was impressive.
- 13:39Speaker 1: I think you're needing your defense to hold Notre Dame
- 13:41Speaker 1: under 24 points. And, and even that, like, are you,
- 13:45Speaker 1: if I told you Notre Dame scored 24 on the road,
- 13:48Speaker 1: are you confident that BYU gets above that number? You know,
- 13:52Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not saying it's impossible, but with their
- 13:54Speaker 1: offense and LJ out, they haven't shown that they consistently
- 13:58Speaker 1: can do that. So I think you would need a
- 14:02Speaker 1: really complete game on all sides. You need Bear to
- 14:05Speaker 1: play up a little bit. You need the defense to
- 14:07Speaker 1: look as good as they've looked.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Look, they've held three power four opponents, all.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Big 12 opponents, Arizona to 17, TCU to 10, and
- 14:16Speaker 1: Iowa State to 10.
- 14:17Speaker 2: You cannot let Notre Dame get much higher than that, right?
- 14:21Speaker 2: Like 24-ish, 21-ish. would kind of be where I think
- 14:25Speaker 2: the cap is.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Because I can't see BYU getting to 27, 28, 30,
- 14:29Speaker 1: 31 points in this game. So if you steal something
- 14:33Speaker 1: on special teams, if you do something defensively that's special,
- 14:37Speaker 1: hold them under 20 or around 20, and Bear does
- 14:40Speaker 1: play well, but not like Heisman level well, then I
- 14:44Speaker 1: think you've got a shot.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I think it's getting into the fourth quarter.
- 14:46Speaker 1: If you're BYU, you want this to be a game
- 14:48Speaker 1: for as long as you possibly can.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I would lean, I certainly lean Notre Dame here.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I think just talent alone makes this a pretty tough
- 14:58Speaker 1: road for BYU. I probably wouldn't lean Notre Dame even
- 15:01Speaker 1: if LJ was there. I think playing at home will
- 15:04Speaker 1: help a lot. I think that crowd will be, you know,
- 15:07Speaker 1: it'll be the craziest sober crowd that Notre Dame's ever seen,
- 15:11Speaker 1: you know, like, but you know, but Notre Dame also, like,
- 15:16Speaker 1: I don't think playing in front of intimidating crowds is
- 15:18Speaker 1: something new for them.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Like where, you know, some other programs may be like, man,
- 15:22Speaker 1: this is kind of shell shock.
- 15:24Speaker 2: So yeah, I like Notre Dame in a close one.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I think the crowd maybe gives BYU a little extra juice, but,
- 15:31Speaker 1: I need to see.
- 15:31Speaker 2: More from their offense before I would think that they
- 15:34Speaker 2: can knock off a top three team. But who ends
- 15:37Speaker 2: up being the difference to you and what's your score?
- 15:40Speaker 3: I think that the big difference for me is actually,
- 15:43Speaker 3: I think Jonas Walton has the potential to play a
- 15:45Speaker 3: really key role in this game. And I keep bringing
- 15:47Speaker 3: this up and I keep tweeting about it. Jonas Walton
- 15:50Speaker 3: is this superstar freshman running back. They've got another one.
- 15:54Speaker 4: People keep calling him baby Jadarian Price.
- 15:56Speaker 3: I've seen a couple of people say that and they've
- 15:57Speaker 3: commented under my stuff when I brought him up. But
- 16:00Speaker 3: they've been slow to get him into the mix.
- 16:02Speaker 4: It's been kind of.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Weird that they haven't fully just said, you know, screw it,
- 16:06Speaker 3: this kid needs to get the primary share of touches.
- 16:08Speaker 3: He wasn't really getting incorporated until later on into the
- 16:11Speaker 3: game against Stanford this past week after he had the
- 16:14Speaker 3: awesome game against North Carolina. I am hoping that they
- 16:17Speaker 3: just say, this kid has.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Just too much pop. James and Williams are.
- 16:22Speaker 3: really good for what they are, which is getting us
- 16:24Speaker 3: a couple of grimy short yards whenever we need to.
- 16:27Speaker 3: But having that home run threat was something that everybody
- 16:30Speaker 3: was wondering, how do you replace that with Price and
- 16:33Speaker 3: Love both gone? Both those guys could take a rush
- 16:36Speaker 3: that there was a little bit of space and turn
- 16:38Speaker 3: it into a 60-yard touchdown. That's exactly what Walton is
- 16:41Speaker 3: doing right now. And here's one thing that's been as
- 16:43Speaker 3: good as this BYU defense is, sneaky issue for them.
- 16:46Speaker 4: They're 77th in EPA per rush allowed. So they have
- 16:49Speaker 4: not been.
- 16:50Speaker 3: They have allowed efficiency for opposing rushing attacks, but they
- 16:53Speaker 3: haven't faced a rushing attack with this much talent as
- 16:57Speaker 3: well as an offensive line that is this sturdy across
- 17:00Speaker 3: the board. So I think that the difference maker is Walton.
- 17:03Speaker 3: And I think that overall, Blake, I give Blake credit.
- 17:05Speaker 3: He brought this up, and I think it was a
- 17:06Speaker 3: really good point. Like the Michigan State game, the only
- 17:10Speaker 3: way that you lose this game and let this game
- 17:12Speaker 3: stay close is if Notre Dame beats themselves. And one
- 17:15Speaker 3: of the key central figures for Notre Dame is C.J.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Carr.
- 17:19Speaker 3: He has been tremendous this year. He has not turned
- 17:21Speaker 3: the ball over. He's taken a nice leap from last year.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I'm not insinuating that he's going to go out there
- 17:26Speaker 3: and throw a ton of picks, but the way that
- 17:28Speaker 3: you beat yourself is a car throws an early pick.
- 17:31Speaker 3: You maybe have a special teams miscue, which you did
- 17:34Speaker 3: against UNC. And you overlook this matchup like we've talked
- 17:39Speaker 3: about this entire time. Those are the things that kill you.
- 17:41Speaker 3: I need to see Carr just play efficiently, and I
- 17:43Speaker 3: need to see Notre Dame continue to find ways to
- 17:46Speaker 3: activate this rushing attack by letting Jonas Walton be the
- 17:49Speaker 3: primary guy.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Do you have a score?
- 17:53Speaker 3: I'm going to go– the line is big on this.
- 17:56Speaker 4: I am going to go– I think this is going
- 17:58Speaker 4: to be low scoring. I think this is going to
- 17:59Speaker 4: be a slow game.
- 18:00Speaker 3: I'm going to go 28-14. We're going to come out
- 18:05Speaker 3: of this. I think people are going to say, oh,
- 18:06Speaker 3: why wasn't this a crazy blowout? I think that the
- 18:09Speaker 3: context is going to be important. I think that, like
- 18:10Speaker 3: you said, BYU is going to want this thing.
- 18:12Speaker 4: To be slow.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 1: You slow it down. Try to take care of the ball.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Don't give Notre Dame extra possessions. They're going to try
- 18:18Speaker 1: and run.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Use Bears legs. I think they'll do a couple of
- 18:21Speaker 2: things nice, and I do. I think Notre Dame is
- 18:24Speaker 2: a little bit more. I like it a little bit closer.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Maybe that's a late touchdown to make the score look
- 18:28Speaker 1: a little bit better, but I don't know that it's
- 18:31Speaker 1: super in question, but again, we can talk about it
- 18:34Speaker 1: a ton on a, on a Wednesday afternoon or Wednesday
- 18:36Speaker 1: morning and they still have to go play. So we'll
- 18:38Speaker 1: see how it goes. What do you guys got coming
- 18:40Speaker 1: this week? What, uh, where can people follow you? All your,
- 18:42Speaker 1: all your.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Stuff going on right now, Rafino and Joe and all that.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Go check out Rafino and Joe show. We of course
- 18:48Speaker 3: have our weekly rants, uh, discussions, debates, uh, and whatnot.
- 18:52Speaker 3: We've been doing some fun, uh, recruiting segments every single week. So, uh,
- 18:56Speaker 3: Maybe at the time that this is posted, we're talking
- 18:58Speaker 3: to Mike Roach of 24-7 Sports, and we're going to
- 19:01Speaker 3: get some insight on the Eastern Royals flip as well
- 19:03Speaker 3: as the current state of the Texas A & M
- 19:05Speaker 3: recruiting class. And then I've been growing my own channel,
- 19:07Speaker 3: so go check out Joe DeLeon just doing instant reactions
- 19:10Speaker 3: to big pieces in news and some of these games.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Just Joe DeLeon on YouTube. TJ, it was great getting
- 19:16Speaker 3: to catch up, and looking forward to seeing what happens
- 19:18Speaker 3: with Notre Dame this weekend.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Thanks, buddy.
