Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: Head Books. Welcome into the Irish Stadis podcast ahead of
- 0:10Speaker 1: the final preseason game for the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I can't believe it's flowing in that much. Already delighted
- 0:16Speaker 1: to be joined by Staters sideline reporter, someone that you
- 0:19Speaker 1: can hear and see at the moment on Virgin Media
- 0:22Speaker 1: Television in Ireland for the games. Missy Matthews, Missy Falshaw,
- 0:26Speaker 1: Welcome back to the podcast.
- 0:27Speaker 2: How you do Yeah, thanks, guys, I'm doing great.
- 0:30Speaker 1: How are you doing good? And it's obviously great to
- 0:33Speaker 1: have you on the podcast as we sort of ramp up,
- 0:36Speaker 1: just getting out of this preseason before we get into
- 0:38Speaker 1: the main action just in a few weeks, just before
- 0:40Speaker 1: we start off, Missy. Obviously we've had the pleasure of
- 0:43Speaker 1: seeing you among many of our talent with the Staters
- 0:46Speaker 1: on Virgin Media Television in Ireland over the last few weeks.
- 0:50Speaker 1: For somebody that's worked with the Staters and has worked
- 0:53Speaker 1: in the NFL for a while, how cool is it
- 0:55Speaker 1: to see, you know, a broadcast for a team go
- 0:58Speaker 1: out to a different country, but then also for yourself
- 1:00Speaker 1: to get put into television around the world.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really cool.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I actually had no idea until like right before the
- 1:06Speaker 3: first game. I was going through the game notes and
- 1:09Speaker 3: saw that, and I was like, wow, that, Like that's cool,
- 1:11Speaker 3: you know, just knowing that the fan base, I think
- 1:15Speaker 3: we all are aware of how far it extends, but
- 1:18Speaker 3: like when you put it in perspective like that, and
- 1:21Speaker 3: then to give people kudos who live in different countries
- 1:24Speaker 3: or on different time zones that are watching, that's pretty special.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Missie. One of the things that we saw during the
- 1:32Speaker 4: last preseason game was a conversation between yourself on linebacker
- 1:35Speaker 4: and Nick Herbig from during training camp. How do you
- 1:39Speaker 4: see Nick's rowan expanding within the defense this season?
- 1:43Speaker 3: Man, I think Nick's gonna make a really big year
- 1:47Speaker 3: to jump. Coach Tomlin always talks about, you know, going
- 1:50Speaker 3: from your rookie season to what we you know, your
- 1:52Speaker 3: sophomore season almost but he.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Just I think he did everything right.
- 1:57Speaker 3: You know, as a rookie, you come in, you're a
- 1:59Speaker 3: spin and you're learning from defensive Player of the Year TJ. Watt,
- 2:03Speaker 3: future Hall of Famer Alex high Smith just really embracing
- 2:07Speaker 3: being a rookie and learning from it. And we really
- 2:09Speaker 3: saw it, especially in that Seattle game. Towards the end
- 2:12Speaker 3: of the season, what he can do during the off season,
- 2:16Speaker 3: you know, going to Wayie back home training with his
- 2:19Speaker 3: brother and fellow Wisconsin Keanu Benton teammate, and then going
- 2:24Speaker 3: to work with TJ. Watt too in the off season,
- 2:26Speaker 3: you know, just learning from him. And I think they
- 2:29Speaker 3: brought in Marcus Golden, who I think everybody was anticipating
- 2:32Speaker 3: probably coming back, and then all of a sudden he decides,
- 2:35Speaker 3: you know what, I kind of liked the retirement life
- 2:38Speaker 3: that I got a taste of before I came to
- 2:40Speaker 3: training camp, and not that Nick wasn't going to have
- 2:42Speaker 3: a big role, but I think it puts more of
- 2:43Speaker 3: an emphasis right on him and just how he can contribute.
- 2:47Speaker 3: But I think, you know, he's conditioned, he did the
- 2:50Speaker 3: right things in the off season, like I said, and
- 2:53Speaker 3: just what he's shown not only at training camp on
- 2:55Speaker 3: the practice fields, but then translating that into games and
- 2:59Speaker 3: you just see how dangerous he can be in the
- 3:01Speaker 3: different things. I mean, he was just in awe of,
- 3:04Speaker 3: you know, getting those ten minutes he spent with James
- 3:06Speaker 3: Harrison on the sidelines talking to him about some of
- 3:10Speaker 3: the crazy moves he's used during his playing career. So
- 3:14Speaker 3: I expect big things from Nick and I think he
- 3:17Speaker 3: does too, And that's always a good thing when you
- 3:21Speaker 3: you're not cocky, but you're confidently aware of your potential
- 3:25Speaker 3: and what the team needs from you.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Missy. I watched your interview with Russell Wilson back in March,
- 3:31Speaker 5: and the sea word was thrown in quite a lot
- 3:33Speaker 5: of Seaword main in championships. And how motivated do you
- 3:36Speaker 5: actually think Ross is to not only add to his
- 3:39Speaker 5: own personal talent but also into the Sailors sex Super
- 3:41Speaker 5: Bowl titles.
- 3:43Speaker 2: I think it's why he came here.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I understand things didn't work out in Denver, so that
- 3:49Speaker 3: wasn't an option, but he clearly had an option to
- 3:52Speaker 3: go somewhere else in to pick that place, and I
- 3:55Speaker 3: think he spoke, you know, in length about playing for
- 3:58Speaker 3: coach Tomlin, putting on a black and gold jersey, you know,
- 4:02Speaker 3: representing the Rooney family, the Steelers logan.
- 4:05Speaker 2: What it means.
- 4:06Speaker 3: He was so grateful at training camp, just like in
- 4:09Speaker 3: all he kept talking about, like the fields behind me,
- 4:11Speaker 3: like the guys that won super Bowl championships, like even
- 4:15Speaker 3: back to the seventies, they played here, they practiced here,
- 4:17Speaker 3: they got ready here and I think, you know, he
- 4:20Speaker 3: talked to Cam Hayward and a lot of the leaders
- 4:22Speaker 3: on the team, and he feels the same way coach
- 4:25Speaker 3: Tomlin does, where it's like Cam Hayward deserves to win
- 4:28Speaker 3: a Super Bowl for what he has done to the
- 4:30Speaker 3: game of football on and off the field.
- 4:33Speaker 2: TJ.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Watt guys like that, and Russell has been there and
- 4:36Speaker 3: he just carries that leadership with him even walking down
- 4:39Speaker 3: the hall. You you feel it almost from him even
- 4:43Speaker 3: as not a member of the team, And I think
- 4:46Speaker 3: guys really buy into that and are rallying around him
- 4:50Speaker 3: as being this, you know, centerpiece and guy who's taking
- 4:54Speaker 3: over an offense that was very much in flux and
- 4:56Speaker 3: has changed so much since last season.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Really enjoyed your inside there, even for the just the
- 5:03Speaker 1: first two questions. It's fantastic to hear Missie and to
- 5:06Speaker 1: see you and what you've done, especially in the Trobe
- 5:09Speaker 1: and some men's college over the summer with training camp,
- 5:12Speaker 1: I feel like it's really we're all a lot of
- 5:14Speaker 1: funds around the world closer. What's the vibe being like
- 5:18Speaker 1: and how much have you enjoyed training camp this year?
- 5:22Speaker 2: I mean, I always enjoy training camp.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I think sometimes when it's like ninety in your sweating
- 5:26Speaker 3: and you know it's it's gross, you don't love it
- 5:28Speaker 3: as much, and then you get in your car and
- 5:30Speaker 3: it's like one hundred degrees. But aside from that, and
- 5:34Speaker 3: obviously the players go through a lot of it, there
- 5:37Speaker 3: is just like a different vibe and I think part
- 5:40Speaker 3: of its Russell Wilson, as we talked about, but I
- 5:42Speaker 3: think also Arthur Smith. Guys on that offense who were
- 5:46Speaker 3: here the past few years where the offense hadn't had success,
- 5:50Speaker 3: they are just like humped. Everybody loves Arthur Smith, not
- 5:54Speaker 3: just the offensive guys, and it's not.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Just Pat friar Ruth because he likes tight ends. I
- 5:59Speaker 2: think it's the system that.
- 6:00Speaker 3: He's building, the way that they always say he answers
- 6:03Speaker 3: the why this is why we're running this route, this
- 6:07Speaker 3: is why we're using this tempo.
- 6:09Speaker 2: But the defensive players love him too.
- 6:11Speaker 3: A Landon Roberts, you know, talked at length to us
- 6:14Speaker 3: the one day just about how great he is of
- 6:17Speaker 3: helping the defense understand, hey, this is why this running
- 6:21Speaker 3: back did X Y or z.
- 6:23Speaker 2: And even TJ.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Watt, you know, he joked about the cat and mouse
- 6:26Speaker 3: game and how Arthur wrote won't have them run the
- 6:29Speaker 3: ball on his side during practice. But it's just that
- 6:32Speaker 3: I think the competition too that he brings of, like
- 6:35Speaker 3: knowing these guys are still going at it just at
- 6:37Speaker 3: practice on Steelers versus Steelers.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Missy, giving your close proximity to the team in the
- 6:43Speaker 4: past couple of weeks and through our training count and
- 6:46Speaker 4: getting to see some of the key upgrades. Are the
- 6:48Speaker 4: upgrades at key positions, you know, like offensive line, inside linebacker,
- 6:53Speaker 4: and quarterback. How do you see those improvements translating into
- 6:57Speaker 4: into success, into wins and losses in the sea Head?
- 7:01Speaker 3: I mean, I just feel like, you know, especially with
- 7:04Speaker 3: this rookie class. Unfortunately, Peyton Wilson, he was having a
- 7:07Speaker 3: spectacular training camp in preseason. He got hurt in that
- 7:10Speaker 3: last game, but you know, it sounds like he's doing
- 7:12Speaker 3: the right things. Roman Wilson was somebody that I think
- 7:15Speaker 3: we were all intrigued with from the day that he
- 7:17Speaker 3: was drafted, and then obviously doing great things in the
- 7:21Speaker 3: off season program, the ots in mini camp, and then
- 7:23Speaker 3: getting hurt in training camp.
- 7:24Speaker 2: You know, he spoke today and said like I'm.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Not gonna give you all my secrets, but like, I'm
- 7:29Speaker 3: working my way back and you're gonna see me soon.
- 7:31Speaker 3: And Troy Fatano even said, like, I'm gonna be ready
- 7:34Speaker 3: for week one. You know, I'm doing what I'm supposed
- 7:36Speaker 3: to do with rehabit, listening to doctors and trainers.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But he feels really good about where he's at.
- 7:42Speaker 3: And but thankfully those aren't you know, these serious injuries
- 7:45Speaker 3: where like Nate Herbig, you go on ir and it
- 7:48Speaker 3: just it doesn't sound good. But I think for Zach Frazier,
- 7:52Speaker 3: Arthur Smith said, he's one of the most mature rookies
- 7:54Speaker 3: he's been around, just prepared, knowing what to do, how
- 7:58Speaker 3: to handle the NFL, and that guy is like football
- 8:01Speaker 3: football football. He doesn't say much, not just to the
- 8:05Speaker 3: media but even his teammates. I asked Keanu Benton about
- 8:08Speaker 3: him today. He said, yeah, he doesn't really talk much,
- 8:10Speaker 3: but like, you know, what he's doing is right. So
- 8:13Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of excitement around them. And
- 8:15Speaker 3: then you out of Patrick Queen, we talked about Russell Wilson,
- 8:19Speaker 3: Dante Jackson to Shaun Elliott. There just seems to be
- 8:22Speaker 3: key pieces, especially that inside linebacker group, where unfortunately we
- 8:26Speaker 3: saw the trickle of injuries happen, so I do think
- 8:31Speaker 3: that will translate into hopefully more wins in the win column.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Just just look an at our schedule and MESSI a
- 8:39Speaker 5: lot of so called experts are calling that, you know,
- 8:41Speaker 5: the toughest schedule in all of sports. You know, there's
- 8:43Speaker 5: a lot of tough opponents in there, particularly on the road.
- 8:46Speaker 5: Which are those away games are you most looking forward to?
- 8:49Speaker 5: And why?
- 8:50Speaker 1: Hmm?
- 8:51Speaker 3: Well, we haven't been to Denver in a while, and
- 8:53Speaker 3: I've only been there once for a game, and I
- 8:56Speaker 3: just thought it was a really cool atmosphere. And then
- 8:58Speaker 3: I think you sprinkle in like Russell Wilson going back
- 9:01Speaker 3: to play his team. They just named a rookie as
- 9:03Speaker 3: their starting quarterback. It's brillly in the season just kind
- 9:06Speaker 3: of has all of that mixtures. But I also just
- 9:10Speaker 3: even though they're not far, I love AFC North games,
- 9:13Speaker 3: and I think with the back end of that schedule,
- 9:15Speaker 3: I don't even remember which one's home and away first
- 9:18Speaker 3: with those three guys, but those ones are always special
- 9:21Speaker 3: and when they're down the stretch, you like, you know
- 9:24Speaker 3: what they mean to your playoff life and hopes, and
- 9:29Speaker 3: they're just so much more weighted with those division games
- 9:31Speaker 3: and they're always usually always end up being pretty.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Fun as a broadcaster and sort of staying on that topic, Missay,
- 9:38Speaker 1: like in broadcast and when you have the opportunity to
- 9:41Speaker 1: cover a Christmas Day game, especially this year, it odds
- 9:44Speaker 1: it's the first thing people see you when to look
- 9:46Speaker 1: at that schedule and must be exciting as well.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I you know we played on Christmas since I've
- 9:53Speaker 3: been here once in Houston, which was a cool game.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Mike Hilton had three sacks. We'll never forget that one.
- 10:00Speaker 3: And then beating the Ravens the Immaculate Extension game with
- 10:03Speaker 3: Antonio Brown.
- 10:05Speaker 2: That one was at home.
- 10:07Speaker 3: It's the Chiefs, So I think that adds some excited
- 10:09Speaker 3: excitement to it.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I'm glad for everyone.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Else's stake, you know, in different countries they'll be able
- 10:15Speaker 3: to watch. But one o'clock, I'm like, oh man, we
- 10:18Speaker 3: got to wake up early and open those presents and
- 10:20Speaker 3: I got to get to the stadium. So my mind's
- 10:22Speaker 3: like already churning of how to make it all work.
- 10:24Speaker 3: But I just think, knowing how many people are going
- 10:26Speaker 3: to be watching that game, it's just, you know, the
- 10:29Speaker 3: NFL has really taken over Christmas, so it's exciting and
- 10:33Speaker 3: knowing that it's Patrick Mahomes, Taylor Swift might pop.
- 10:35Speaker 2: By Afrosure Stadium. You know, there's a lot to be
- 10:38Speaker 2: excited about.
- 10:39Speaker 4: What was you saying, Missie? You're looking forward to most
- 10:42Speaker 4: about this upcoming season for the Steelers.
- 10:46Speaker 3: I think seeing a difference in the offense and seeing
- 10:50Speaker 3: the potential that there's.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Players that I feel like are untapped.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Calvin Austen, the third, he dealt with an injury, didn't
- 10:57Speaker 3: really have a rookie season, came back and thought, Okay,
- 11:00Speaker 3: this preseason was great, and then the regular season did
- 11:03Speaker 3: not go as planned. Even you know Pat Fryarmouth and
- 11:06Speaker 3: Najee Harris, it's crazy.
- 11:08Speaker 2: That where they are in their career and when they started,
- 11:11Speaker 2: Ben Roethlisberger was the quarterback.
- 11:14Speaker 3: So I think seeing what the offense can become and
- 11:18Speaker 3: being able to help get the defense a rest and
- 11:20Speaker 3: let the defense do what they do best and not
- 11:23Speaker 3: be on the field all the time. Even though we've
- 11:25Speaker 3: seen that they can handle it, they can score touchdowns,
- 11:28Speaker 3: you want it to be more complimentary.
- 11:30Speaker 2: And I think even with Cam Johnston the new.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Punter, he adds another exciting element and the dynamic kickoff.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I know we all talk about it so much, but
- 11:39Speaker 2: I do think maybe as everyone.
- 11:42Speaker 3: You know, eases into it, we'll see some cool returns
- 11:46Speaker 3: in different things that teams are.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Doing to utilize it.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Because in the preseason, no one's showing their cards, Let's
- 11:52Speaker 3: be honest.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I mean, cord Aero Patterson hasn't returned one even yet.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Yeah in game, not that he has to, he has
- 11:59Speaker 3: the resume, but I'm just excited to see what that
- 12:01Speaker 3: could become.
- 12:02Speaker 5: You know, just speaking on the offense messay, and we
- 12:05Speaker 5: got to say the one there's Arthur Smith made with
- 12:07Speaker 5: rand tana Health during his time in Tennessee. You know,
- 12:10Speaker 5: quarterbacks could arguably say shares a lot of the same
- 12:12Speaker 5: intangibiles with Russ and Justin Faiz. What are the some
- 12:15Speaker 5: of the changes that you've noticed in training camp with
- 12:18Speaker 5: Arthur Smith's offense in comparison to last year under Mark Canada.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I think the way he utilizes the entire field, and
- 12:25Speaker 3: I don't know if that was the plan going in
- 12:28Speaker 3: for last year.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I'm sure it wasn't.
- 12:29Speaker 3: We saw, you know, whatever Eddie Faulkner and Mike Sullivan
- 12:35Speaker 3: took over pat Friarmouth had an insane game in Cincinnati
- 12:38Speaker 3: and that was the.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Middle of the field.
- 12:40Speaker 3: But I think Arthur Smith is very intentional and just
- 12:43Speaker 3: the unpredictability, not knowing, And I think when you have
- 12:47Speaker 3: quarterbacks like Russell Wilson and justin fields that also adds
- 12:50Speaker 3: an element, especially justin fields and what he can do
- 12:53Speaker 3: with his legs, but just the way he utilizes the eligibles,
- 12:57Speaker 3: the three tight ends that you know, that's a little different,
- 13:00Speaker 3: and you see it more often with Arthur Smith. So
- 13:03Speaker 3: I think even you know, for Darnell Washington, it's not
- 13:05Speaker 3: just being the extra lineman is he's used to from
- 13:09Speaker 3: his time in Georgia and here, it's what can he
- 13:12Speaker 3: do in the passing game too.
- 13:14Speaker 2: He's a pretty big target.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Not many people can reach up as high as Darnel Washington.
- 13:19Speaker 3: So I think the unpredictability, the usage of space, and
- 13:22Speaker 3: just even for George Pickens, the extension of his route
- 13:25Speaker 3: tree are things that we will hopefully see lead to
- 13:30Speaker 3: points and lead to success in the red zone.
- 13:32Speaker 2: A La more wins.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Music dar ears for sure, We've got probably one just
- 13:37Speaker 1: click round the questions before we let you go, and
- 13:40Speaker 1: last one from me you joined the team around twenty twelve,
- 13:44Speaker 1: just the early twenty tens on the Stagers have played
- 13:46Speaker 1: one game internationally in London since then for you, and
- 13:51Speaker 1: your role has evolved with this team throughout the last
- 13:54Speaker 1: hands while in fifteen years, how cold will it be
- 13:56Speaker 1: for you to get to a game where or not
- 13:58Speaker 1: is in as life, America, Ireland, wherever? If it was five, ten,
- 14:03Speaker 1: fifteen years time, I.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Hope it's next year.
- 14:07Speaker 3: You know, I've been saying we the Wembley game was
- 14:10Speaker 3: twenty thirteen.
- 14:11Speaker 2: That was Leaveyon Bellsworth year.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Like I remember his first touchdown, I remember the sumrsault
- 14:15Speaker 3: he did and it was a loss and they went on.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Four and I remember the playing right home.
- 14:20Speaker 3: But what a cool experience it was not only for
- 14:23Speaker 3: somebody who had never been to London before, but then
- 14:27Speaker 3: to experience an international game where it wasn't just Pittsburgh
- 14:30Speaker 3: fans who were there as well. And I mean I
- 14:32Speaker 3: would go to I'd go to Ireland tomorrow. If they
- 14:35Speaker 3: were like, yeah we can, we'll play that game. Lines
- 14:37Speaker 3: are gonna come with us, I would totally go. I think,
- 14:41Speaker 3: just based on the fan base internationally, the Steelers have
- 14:44Speaker 3: they have to go international sooner rather than later, and
- 14:47Speaker 3: they think the good thing is you know, mister Rooney,
- 14:50Speaker 3: the president of the team, has said he feels that
- 14:53Speaker 3: way too.
- 14:53Speaker 2: It's clearly the league's call.
- 14:55Speaker 3: It more than ten years that the Steelers have had
- 14:58Speaker 3: an international game.
- 15:00Speaker 2: We need to fix that.
- 15:02Speaker 5: Well.
- 15:03Speaker 4: We would definitely be happy to welcome you to Ireland, Missy,
- 15:06Speaker 4: and hopefully we get to catch up as soon. On
- 15:09Speaker 4: mix note on the same topic as Nick there get
- 15:13Speaker 4: looking at what the Steelers are doing here in Ireland
- 15:15Speaker 4: with the various initiatives to grow the fan base, be
- 15:19Speaker 4: those truly you know, the youth camps, they've held, the
- 15:21Speaker 4: watch party and now having the preseason games on an
- 15:24Speaker 4: Irish broadcaster. How cool is that from your perspective as
- 15:29Speaker 4: part of the meat at the Steelers organization on the
- 15:31Speaker 4: media side to see and what are your kind of
- 15:33Speaker 4: thoughts on that.
- 15:35Speaker 3: I love anytime there's youth camps, even when they're in Pittsburgh.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I think just spreading the game of football, and we
- 15:41Speaker 3: see it so much, and I think I'm from Pittsburgh,
- 15:45Speaker 3: I've been born into a football family. It's really all
- 15:48Speaker 3: I knew until you know, basketball season would come around.
- 15:51Speaker 3: But I think it's not just the Pittsburgh people that
- 15:54Speaker 3: get it. You know, you guys understand how special it
- 15:57Speaker 3: is and what game day can be like and.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Just the tradition and to see it carried on.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I you know, just the footage and the video from
- 16:04Speaker 3: the youth camps and that watch party looked awesome.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Just the excitement that it creates.
- 16:10Speaker 3: It's also not even team building, but just like community
- 16:13Speaker 3: building in a way of other people who love the
- 16:16Speaker 3: Steelers and might not have realized how many people in
- 16:19Speaker 3: Ireland love the Steelers and then getting a chance to
- 16:22Speaker 3: hang with those friends on game day.
- 16:24Speaker 2: I just think it's great.
- 16:25Speaker 3: And I think with the you know, the youth camps,
- 16:27Speaker 3: as I said, it's growing and extending the game of
- 16:30Speaker 3: football and educating people.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Just from my boys and their friends.
- 16:35Speaker 3: It's crazy how knowledgeable they are, not even just to
- 16:37Speaker 3: the Steelers, but like the league as a whole and understanding.
- 16:41Speaker 3: You know, they know what a first down is, different
- 16:43Speaker 3: things like that if it's DPI, you know, they're calling
- 16:45Speaker 3: it out and it's really cool to see. And I'm
- 16:48Speaker 3: a huge football person, so I like to see that
- 16:51Speaker 3: we're spreading it out too and helping bring other people
- 16:54Speaker 3: into Steelers Nation.
- 16:56Speaker 5: Absolutely, just the final one. The messay. We've had a
- 17:00Speaker 5: particularly busy off cities in terms of free agency. On
- 17:02Speaker 5: the draft, of course, in your humble opinion, which of
- 17:04Speaker 5: our new recruits are you most excited to see We're
- 17:06Speaker 5: were in the black and goal in the regular season.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Hmmm. I don't want to say a quarterback because that's
- 17:11Speaker 2: pretty easy. I think I'll go with Patrick Queen.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Not that I feel like that defense was like missing
- 17:17Speaker 3: a key component, but like the swag that he brings,
- 17:21Speaker 3: the physicality. It's almost crazy in a way that he
- 17:24Speaker 3: was a Raven because he feels so much like a Steeler.
- 17:27Speaker 3: But I think there's also that fine line of like
- 17:30Speaker 3: hating each other, but you appreciate each other because you're
- 17:32Speaker 3: so similar.
- 17:33Speaker 2: You're these teams like drafted to beat each other. They
- 17:37Speaker 2: know each other so well.
- 17:38Speaker 3: And I know the Steelers have had the Ravens cards
- 17:42Speaker 3: in recent years, but we've all seen how that series
- 17:46Speaker 3: can play out. So I think I'll go with Patrick
- 17:48Speaker 3: Queen just because just the injuries that that position went
- 17:52Speaker 3: through last year, and knowing you know what a communicator
- 17:56Speaker 3: he can be. He has a chip on his shoulder
- 17:58Speaker 3: because everyone thinks Roquan Smith made him and this is
- 18:01Speaker 3: a chance to prove it. And you're surrounding him with
- 18:03Speaker 3: great guys like TJ cam, Minka and you know everybody else.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Love that and it's been a really fun offseason and
- 18:10Speaker 1: Irish fans can see the last preseason game for the
- 18:13Speaker 1: Pittsburgh Staters against the Lions off Ford Field on Virgin
- 18:17Speaker 1: Media too. You can hear Missy and the rest of
- 18:19Speaker 1: the team as well, with the Staters broadcast from five
- 18:21Speaker 1: point thirty pm this Saturday in Virgin Media too. It's
- 18:24Speaker 1: also on OTB Sports Radio. Missy, as we say, Grime
- 18:28Speaker 1: and Maugat, thank you very very much, obviously the very
- 18:31Speaker 1: very best this weekend, but the very very best this
- 18:33Speaker 1: season as well, and we'll hopefully see you over here. Bryson.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Thank you, yes, thank you guys so much for having me.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Niks, Razzy, nice Missy
