- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to get right
- 0:06back to the Sarah Kellen transcript from her meeting with Congress.
- 0:11Question by Miss Brynac. After he picked you up at
- 0:14the dock, where did he take you? Answer? We just
- 0:18went up to like the main part of the house,
- 0:20and I remember like Lane being there and the assistant
- 0:22that I was potentially going to replace. We were only
- 0:25there for a few days. I remember being it was
- 0:28very luxurious. I remember that I shared a room with
- 0:31redacted and in the morning she was like, you can
- 0:34ask for whatever you want for breakfast. She's like, I'm
- 0:37going to have a big bowl of berries and I
- 0:39was like, wow, like a whole bowl of berries, Like
- 0:41those are really expensive. It felt very luxurious, like nothing
- 0:45I had ever encountered before. Question, so you understood the
- 0:49couple could be wealthy? Answer? Yeah, Question what did you
- 0:53understand their positions to be? How did you believe that
- 0:56they acquired their wealth? Answer? I know it one point.
- 1:00I learned what he did, but I understood that he
- 1:02managed billionaire's money. Like they told me, he wouldn't take
- 1:06on a client unless he was worth one billion dollars.
- 1:10Glaine would tell me, you know, you should really listen
- 1:12to what he says, and you know, do what he says,
- 1:15because he's clearly very successful and influential and he can
- 1:19help you. Question who told you that he wouldn't take
- 1:21a client unless they were worth over a billion? Answer?
- 1:25Probably Colayne, maybe him. It was just my general understanding,
- 1:30so I'm sure it would have been one of those two.
- 1:32Question you mentioned that you believed that you were replacing Glaine.
- 1:36Who told you that? Answer? Not Colayne her assistant. Question Okay,
- 1:40I apologize. When did you first did you meet? Redacted?
- 1:45Answer on the island trip? Question why did you believe
- 1:49you were replacing her? Answer that that's what I was told.
- 1:52She wanted to go to Alai to pursue acting, so
- 1:54she was preparing to leave. Question Who would have told
- 1:57you that she was leaving for acting? Answer? I don't
- 2:00know if it was redacted or redacted herself. Question We'll
- 2:04go into more specifics on this, but can you briefly
- 2:07describe the nature of your relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Answer?
- 2:11He was terrifying. He was completely dominating of everything in
- 2:15my life. I had an apartment to live in in
- 2:17New York, so I had to live where he told
- 2:20me to live. He dictated what I wore. If I
- 2:24wore something that he didn't approve of, he would look
- 2:26at me and say, it's disgusting. Where did you get this?
- 2:29Throw it away? So every time I would buy anything new,
- 2:32I would have to immediately go to him and get approval.
- 2:35He just decimated any source of autonomy that I had,
- 2:39which was very little at the time considering my upbringing.
- 2:42He dictated my haircut, my hair color. He would go
- 2:45to the salam with me and tell me what color
- 2:48to make it, what cut to make it. He gave
- 2:50me a boy cut with bangs, blonde hair, brown hair,
- 2:53and every length, every cut. He was extremely, extremely demanding,
- 2:58and he had no sense of reality and what it
- 3:00took to get things done. He would get so angry
- 3:03if things weren't done immediately or the next day, and
- 3:06he would keep you in such a state of terror
- 3:08that most menial things weren't done. It was the smallest
- 3:11things became important to him. Like just a silly example.
- 3:16We were in Beijing one time, and he would go
- 3:18through periods of obsession of different types of foods. He
- 3:21would eat one thing for months at a time, and
- 3:23he was on an oreo kick. And I forgot to
- 3:26pack oreos for the trip to China, and he was
- 3:28so angry that he had to have oreos FedEx from
- 3:31New York to China. And it was like those things
- 3:35in the moment were so important and so terrifying, and
- 3:38they were always on a high alert of making sure
- 3:40you didn't forget anything. And he was constantly giving you
- 3:43more and more things, and he would ask that you
- 3:46didn't exist in the world, like go source this, go
- 3:49find this. So you were constantly trying to find something
- 3:52that didn't exist, and if you couldn't find it, then
- 3:55you'd have to try to find how to have it made.
- 3:59So it was just be completely inundated with task and
- 4:01responsibilities and then traveling. I traveled with them every two
- 4:05to three days, so I always, you know, had to
- 4:09pack a bag if we weren't staying at one of
- 4:11the houses. And he would want his own bedding to
- 4:13be brought if he was staying at a hotel, so
- 4:16I would have to pack all the betting, and then
- 4:18we would go to the hotel change his betting into
- 4:21change the sheets out of the hotel, betting into his
- 4:24sheets various projects. He eventually had me become his interior
- 4:29designer because he was so difficult to work with, nobody
- 4:32wanted to work with him anymore. So then I was
- 4:35in charge of going out and getting fabric samples and
- 4:38sourcing furniture and paint colors on top of all my
- 4:41other responsibilities. Well, I was being sexually abused on a
- 4:44regular basis. Question thank you over how many years did
- 4:49your relationship take place? Answer? I met him well, technically,
- 4:53I started working for him in two thousand end of
- 4:56two thousand and one and started segueing out in twenty
- 4:59twelve when I became engaged to my ex husband. Second
- 5:03ex husband. Question is that when your relationship ended when
- 5:07you segued out? Answer that's when I stopped working for him.
- 5:11We would keep in contact occasionally, just kind of appease
- 5:14them and not getting on his bad side. Question how
- 5:18often would you communicate with mister Epstein? Answer at what
- 5:22time period? Question over the time period that you work
- 5:25with them? Answer almost daily. Depends on where we were
- 5:28in New York, I answered to Glane, I mostly worked
- 5:31out of her house when we were there, so she
- 5:34would give me all my tasks in the morning. If
- 5:36we were traveling, I would see Jeffrey every day because
- 5:40I was staying at their homes or you know, in
- 5:42a hotel with them. Question what was the matter of
- 5:46your communications? What method did you communicate with them through?
- 5:50Was it in person over email? Had it most frequently
- 5:53communicate with them? And in which method? Answer? Mostly in person,
- 5:57sometimes over the phone. In the first few years, he
- 6:00didn't really use email. He didn't have a cell phone,
- 6:03so he would call me mostly when he needed something
- 6:05or wanted something, or to give me something. If I
- 6:09was in New York or if it was at his home,
- 6:11he would in person give me a list of things
- 6:14to do. Question Was the communication always direct to you
- 6:18or did he ever use intermediaries? Answer? Sometimes through assistance
- 6:23in his Madison Avenue office in New York, Leslie Groff.
- 6:26Other assistants that may have been at that office. There
- 6:30was Helen Kim, a few others. Cecilia Stein, I believe
- 6:33her name was, so sometimes he would give them tasks
- 6:37for me to do. Question any other intermediaries beside the
- 6:41assistance answer Glaine. Question did you sign a non disclosure
- 6:45agreement upon being hired as Epstein's assistant. Answer yes. Question
- 6:51what were the details of the agreement. I don't remember exactly.
- 6:55I don't have a copy, but I remember there being
- 6:57some sort of financial I would have to pay money
- 7:00if I broke it. I forgot how much, but there
- 7:02was a clause in there. Question did the NDA reference
- 7:06any activity that you know was criminal in nature? Answer?
- 7:10I don't remember what it said exactly. I just remember
- 7:13that there being consequences monetarily. Question did the NDA reference
- 7:18any massages or massuses? Answer no. Question Tell me about
- 7:23your first interaction with Glenn Maxwell. Answer. It was on
- 7:27the island that first trip. I remember her kind of
- 7:29showing me some things around the island, like she had
- 7:32these treasure chests that you would fill with pottery and
- 7:35things that you would find on the island from when
- 7:37it was like an old sugar mill. I remember that's
- 7:41where she told me that you should really listen to
- 7:44what Jeffrey has to say. You should listen to him
- 7:46because he clearly knows what he's doing and he could
- 7:49help you. I don't remember much else that particular trip
- 7:54when I came when she called me, like a month
- 7:56after the initial week she called me and was like,
- 7:59can you come to Palm Beach today? And I was like,
- 8:02I have to work tonight. I'm like, don't you have
- 8:04to buy a flight like two weeks in advance. That's
- 8:07kind of what I was always told. So she's like,
- 8:09how about tomorrow? So I was like, okay, well, I
- 8:12can ask for time off. And I flew out the
- 8:14next day the Palm Beach and she put me to
- 8:17work right away, like she had gotten back from a
- 8:20trip to Paris, and she had me like help her
- 8:23unpack her bags and showed me how to make Jeffrey's
- 8:26coffee and to breakfast and where to buy newspapers in
- 8:28the morning. I was helping with laundry, kind of just
- 8:31anything that kind of needed to be done to serve them. Basically. Question.
- 8:37You mentioned in your opening statement that you were on
- 8:39call twenty four to seven. Answer, Uh huh. Question was
- 8:43that the case when you first started? Answer? The entire
- 8:46time my employment. I remember being at dinners with like
- 8:49one of my boyfriends at the time and him calling
- 8:52and I had to leave in the middle of dinner,
- 8:54like I had to anytime he called or summoned me,
- 8:57I had to jump and leave right away. Glene would
- 9:00do the same thing. She would call. She did it
- 9:02all the time to all the staff members. She would
- 9:04call and just ask for unreasonable requests like ten o'clock
- 9:07at night, can you come make Jeffrey this you know,
- 9:10this snack or this meal, or they would just they
- 9:13would do it to everybody. It was just completely overwhelming
- 9:16and just there were no boundaries. Question how would you
- 9:20characterize your relationship with Miss Maxwell? Answer? I thought she
- 9:24was the most selfish person I had ever encountered. She
- 9:28was mean and belittling. She would literally call me a slave,
- 9:31her minion piglet polyp on a donkey's ass, like she
- 9:35would belittle you as much as she could to make
- 9:38herself more superior. She would do things like, you know,
- 9:42just to make sure you knew that she was in charge.
- 9:45She would, you know, ask me to make her a
- 9:46cup of coffee, and I would make her coffee, and
- 9:49then she would not even take a sip and let
- 9:51it sit there for like an hour and be like,
- 9:53can you make me another cup? And I felt like
- 9:56she would just felt like she was on purpose created
- 9:59a chaos so that I couldn't finish my tasks. That
- 10:02she would then have to sweep in and save the
- 10:04day and make it seem like it was needed or useful,
- 10:08Miss Brignac. And we have another member who's just joined us.
- 10:12Can you state your name for the record, Miss an Sorry, Yes,
- 10:16Yasimin and sorry from Arizona's third District, Miss Brygnac. Question
- 10:21did your relationship with Miss Maxwell change over the years? Answer?
- 10:26The first several years I worked out of her house
- 10:29in New York, and then she started kind of slowly
- 10:32distancing herself from Jeffrey around the time he got arrested,
- 10:35probably around two thousand and five time frame. She was
- 10:38still around, you know, in charge of all the houses
- 10:41and the staff, and you know, in charge of his life,
- 10:43basically approving all the bills. She just didn't travel with
- 10:47him as much. At that time she started dating Ted Waite,
- 10:50so she was traveling with him a lot. Question. How
- 10:54was mister Epstein as a boss? Answer? Terrifying. He was
- 10:58like Jackal and Hyde. He could be the most charming,
- 11:01like playful, what I consider generous at the time, Now
- 11:04I know it was more about control. You didn't want
- 11:07to get on his bad side. He could turn around
- 11:10at the drop of a hat and you would see
- 11:12the fire in his eyes. It was horrifying. I would
- 11:15witness him bring even Glaine to tears, who I thought
- 11:18was like the strongest, coldest woman I had met, And
- 11:21you just didn't want his rage turned on you. It
- 11:25was impossible to ask questions. He would get mad at
- 11:27you and be like he would tell you something to do,
- 11:30and you would try to ask for clarification, and he
- 11:33would just be like, don't ask questions. Just do exactly
- 11:36what I say, Like there's always a reason for everything
- 11:39I tell you to do. Like you couldn't waver from
- 11:42that at all. Question in professional settings, would he cross
- 11:46the line as a boss? Answer? He sexually abused me
- 11:49on a weekly basis. He would come into my room
- 11:52at the house, wake me up, bless me. He would
- 11:54literally just grab me by the hand pull me to
- 11:57his bedroom. In New York, I even had my own
- 12:00I had my own apartment that he let me stay in,
- 12:02but he would call me at night and he had
- 12:04a code word and that would call me and just
- 12:07say cold sheets, and that meant I had to go
- 12:09to his house and sleep with them. And he referred
- 12:11to me as his human hot water bottle. Question did
- 12:15he ever yell at you? Answer yes. Question did he
- 12:18yell at other staff? Answer yes? Question was he inappropriate
- 12:23towards other staff? Answer in what way? Question? In the
- 12:26manner you've described so far, would he direct that towards
- 12:29other staff members as well? Answer? I don't know. I
- 12:32didn't witness any well, he would definitely yell and be
- 12:35little and get mad at them if they didn't do
- 12:37something to exact specifications. Question would he apologize afterwards? Answer? Never?
- 12:45He never apologized to me once for anything. Question when
- 12:48he was acting inappropriately? Were their witnesses? Miss? Ham jumps in,
- 12:52can you clarify? Do you mean when he was yelling
- 12:55at staff or maybe just a little bit of clarification
- 12:57on inappropriate Brignac? However you interpret the question when he
- 13:02would turn his rage on you or would act inappropriately?
- 13:05Were their witnesses? Ham? Why don't you say how you're
- 13:08interpreting the question inappropriate? Kellen? I mean either the house
- 13:12staff or other assistants would have witnessed that Brignac. Did
- 13:16you ever spend time with mister Epstein apart from your
- 13:19duties as his assistant? Answer? I had a few times
- 13:22of contact with him when I stopped working for him.
- 13:25He would ask to see me sometimes in New York,
- 13:27and I would see him at the townhouse in New York,
- 13:29and I believe one time in Miami. All Right, folks,
- 13:33that's going to do it for this one. All the
