- 0:01Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, good morning, welcome, welcome, welcome time
- 0:04Speaker 1: now for one on one with the pro and from
- 0:07Speaker 1: our good friends at Advanced Pest Solutions on the road.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Today we have quintin Mackie. Quinton, how you doing besides
- 0:13Speaker 1: being busy.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Being good? Den good? Just got tired up being looking
- 0:18Speaker 2: at the big bug job and I just couldn't get
- 0:21Speaker 2: didn't get to the office.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Well that's okay, that's okay. This is the magic of radio.
- 0:25Speaker 1: We can take it on the road, we can do
- 0:27Speaker 1: it anywhere. Now you say you've been busy, boy, I
- 0:30Speaker 1: tell you what, I can't imagine anybody being busy in
- 0:34Speaker 1: the bug business, especially after it was so wet and
- 0:36Speaker 1: now it's so hot. It just seems like the situation
- 0:39Speaker 1: being just right for all kinds of unwanted little pests
- 0:42Speaker 1: running around and homes and businesses.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yeah, this time in the area has put a lot
- 0:48Speaker 2: of groundcle s bodies because they'll come down out of
- 0:50Speaker 2: the attic. They live in the attic in the walls
- 0:52Speaker 2: quite a bit, and then when it gets this hot,
- 0:55Speaker 2: they don't want be an attic anymore. So that's when
- 0:56Speaker 2: people really start seeing that take on all the browner cluses.
- 1:02Speaker 2: A lot of people don't even know what a brown
- 1:03Speaker 2: close looks like. So actually, if someone's interested, you know, aspiders,
- 1:08Speaker 2: give me a call. I can help you with that.
- 1:11Speaker 1: All right, very good. Now you said bed bugs. Now
- 1:13Speaker 1: that's one of those things that some folks are a
- 1:16Speaker 1: bit reluctant to call in about. But they really shouldn't
- 1:19Speaker 1: be because it does. They travel. It's not like they
- 1:24Speaker 1: made them.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, I went to really high end
- 1:30Speaker 2: houses on golf courses, and I went to houses that
- 1:34Speaker 2: you know, weren't in very good shape. It's not a
- 1:37Speaker 2: it's not a deal of having money or being dirty.
- 1:40Speaker 2: It's just they travel with people. They're getting your suitcast
- 1:43Speaker 2: to get in your person. You have company, you go
- 1:45Speaker 2: to two when I've done churches, we even do a
- 1:49Speaker 2: lot of different goal give them a lot of different places.
- 1:52Speaker 2: And the whole, the whole deal with the big bugs is,
- 1:55Speaker 2: first off, we go and try to do an inspection,
- 1:58Speaker 2: and if we find the they could be in more
- 2:01Speaker 2: rooms than we try to have them get the dogs
- 2:03Speaker 2: to come in. The reason I do that is the
- 2:06Speaker 2: dogs cost a little more money, but they can clear
- 2:08Speaker 2: these other rooms so we don't have to treat the
- 2:10Speaker 2: whole room. So the whole house, and that's those people
- 2:13Speaker 2: money because most companies are going to treat the whole
- 2:16Speaker 2: house and charge you for other room they do. I
- 2:19Speaker 2: kind of look at it like this, Why would you
- 2:21Speaker 2: paint the whole call and you just need to paint
- 2:23Speaker 2: the fender. Yeah, there's no reason to do the whole
- 2:25Speaker 2: house when there's only in one room. So I did
- 2:28Speaker 2: there as a means to actually save people money. Whether
- 2:31Speaker 2: there's than gouging people.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Now, this is a big difference. Said, you're you're the
- 2:36Speaker 1: hometown folks. You're you're not a big worldwide conglomerate, and
- 2:42Speaker 1: you know you're right there in Washington County and you
- 2:45Speaker 1: serve everybody with far as way as they can pick
- 2:47Speaker 1: up the message from what I know.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Right, And I will say this, there's I talked a
- 2:54Speaker 2: little bit about Journey Home last time hours on and
- 2:57Speaker 2: actually here on the seventh September, I'm going to have
- 3:01Speaker 2: them come on with me and they're going to talk
- 3:03Speaker 2: about the summaries that they're doing for the Journey Home,
- 3:07Speaker 2: and I'm going to talk I've wished out to be
- 3:08Speaker 2: the Light and some other organizations to come on with
- 3:11Speaker 2: me and talk about the things they do just to
- 3:13Speaker 2: kind of help, you know, the community, because you know
- 3:15Speaker 2: this is this is a small community and we all
- 3:17Speaker 2: need to come together and help each other.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Indeed we do. And I think that is a fabulous
- 3:22Speaker 1: idea that you've got going on there, and it'd be
- 3:24Speaker 1: great to hear from them and their stories too. Now
- 3:28Speaker 1: you don't just do residential you do business properties as well,
- 3:32Speaker 1: and you picked up a nice award for that.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Right right, I mean we did, you know, quite a
- 3:38Speaker 2: few businesses we did the journey Home. We don't just
- 3:41Speaker 2: be the lie but we actually use Christie's mother's house.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I quite a few different businesses we do. The dealership
- 3:49Speaker 2: be Haunt a dealership and you know everybody's every every
- 3:54Speaker 2: account is different. Some people have you know, just mice
- 3:58Speaker 2: and spiders and some people end up getting bed bug.
- 4:01Speaker 2: You just never know. So a consistent monthly service, it
- 4:05Speaker 2: kind of keeps you from having a problem. That's it's
- 4:08Speaker 2: the mainness problem is the reason you don't have any
- 4:11Speaker 2: bug issue there.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You know, you keep everything in check and you keep
- 4:14Speaker 1: it on the regular and with regular treatments that you
- 4:18Speaker 1: problems are you know that you found a solution for them.
- 4:22Speaker 1: That's the name Advance Solution.
- 4:26Speaker 2: There you go.
- 4:27Speaker 1: So there you are, man.
- 4:29Speaker 2: And the thing is is when you do monthly services,
- 4:33Speaker 2: then if you're seeing a problem, we take care of
- 4:37Speaker 2: it before it comes a big problem, so we can
- 4:39Speaker 2: do it for less money. If you come in like
- 4:41Speaker 2: the first time, get a phone call, we got to
- 4:43Speaker 2: a big inspection. Then we've got to try to figure
- 4:45Speaker 2: out where we're at. Then we've got to it takes
- 4:47Speaker 2: a while, like for Rocious to actually knock them out.
- 4:50Speaker 2: But if we've already done a monthly service and you're
- 4:53Speaker 2: seeing something, it doesn't take much because we've already took
- 4:57Speaker 2: stuff in place we are, you're familiar with the house,
- 4:59Speaker 2: and you get treatment put down every month, so it's
- 5:01Speaker 2: never going to be a problem. It's kind of like
- 5:03Speaker 2: I used to have a long service. If you know
- 5:05Speaker 2: every week, the grass never gets too tall. True, it's
- 5:08Speaker 2: kind of the same.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Primis understood, understood, and my goodness sake, all this hard
- 5:14Speaker 1: work is paid off. But you and Don have been
- 5:17Speaker 1: working really hard. You brought on a third person along,
- 5:21Speaker 1: and that young man's really been working hard too.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yeah, he's He actually texted me when I was in
- 5:28Speaker 2: the middle of this bedbug inspecsion and trying to see
- 5:31Speaker 2: this job, and he said, hey, aren't you just doing
- 5:32Speaker 2: the radio? I forgot. So that's why I call them
- 5:36Speaker 2: in because you get you get tied up doing all
- 5:39Speaker 2: this stuff and you you kind of lose track of
- 5:42Speaker 2: time sometimes. So that's not making end today. But uh,
- 5:47Speaker 2: you know it's when people The thing with big bugs
- 5:50Speaker 2: is there's something called delusional peri psychosis, okay, and that's
- 5:54Speaker 2: the big word basically saying you freaking out with with
- 5:56Speaker 2: any get big bugs. And when people get bed bugs,
- 5:59Speaker 2: they lose them my and so it takes a long
- 6:01Speaker 2: time just to try to talk them off the you know,
- 6:04Speaker 2: walk the Age of the Cliffs, because they're the Jennifer
- 6:07Speaker 2: burn the house down, So I've got to spare. I
- 6:10Speaker 2: spent probably as much time doing psychology trying to keep
- 6:16Speaker 2: them from understand. You know, you can make them understand,
- 6:18Speaker 2: we'll get rid of them, because you know, when your
- 6:20Speaker 2: kids are getting bad and you're getting bid and you're
- 6:22Speaker 2: getting u blood sucked out everywhere to sleep, But it's
- 6:26Speaker 2: it's just every little thing you see is a big bug,
- 6:29Speaker 2: and every little twitch in your skin and their bite,
- 6:31Speaker 2: so it's it's a whole it's a whole issue with yourself.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I still have on to spend more time trying to
- 6:37Speaker 2: talk to people and explain to him different things habits
- 6:41Speaker 2: and stuff, and then tell them what they need to
- 6:43Speaker 2: do as I do actually do it half of the treatment.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So so you educate the folks along the way as
- 6:49Speaker 1: long as why all the time while you're providing service.
- 6:53Speaker 1: That's a wonderful thing.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Well yeah, I mean you kind of have to because
- 6:56Speaker 2: you know, I mean, people just because they they never
- 7:00Speaker 2: with it. You know, I haven't to be looked on
- 7:01Speaker 2: me for I mean, how long you are the old
- 7:04Speaker 2: saying there was by saying they most people don't think
- 7:10Speaker 2: they even such thing was a big buggers and they
- 7:12Speaker 2: didn't have them for so many years. But now unfortunately
- 7:15Speaker 2: it is a consistent problem that people have, and like
- 7:19Speaker 2: I say, you can pick them up. We went to
- 7:21Speaker 2: then churches before, and you go to a church, he said,
- 7:25Speaker 2: if you you go home, you take a big bug
- 7:27Speaker 2: and now you've got a big bug problem. That particular
- 7:29Speaker 2: church had three or four different houses I had to
- 7:31Speaker 2: treat that got big bugs from someone at the church.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So it's it's uh, God for someone and may they
- 7:39Speaker 2: worked at the cases and the cases where they had
- 7:41Speaker 2: a place to sit. Actually that's where the buds were.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So I mean they can be coming from anywhere, and
- 7:49Speaker 2: it's it's there's a technique to it, and there's a process.
- 7:54Speaker 2: If you're if you're going to hear what of them,
- 7:57Speaker 2: there's gotta be we will work together. I've got to
- 7:59Speaker 2: have you do certain things to allow me to do
- 8:02Speaker 2: my job correctly and efficiently.
- 8:04Speaker 1: So you work as a team with your clients.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you clean us hafty and I'm I'll
- 8:09Speaker 2: try to do that. When I come up with the
- 8:10Speaker 2: name of the advanced test solutions. Part of the solution
- 8:14Speaker 2: is us working together. Because I don't live there, you know,
- 8:17Speaker 2: I don't. I don't leave the dirty dishes in the sink,
- 8:21Speaker 2: which caused the ants to come in. I've got to
- 8:23Speaker 2: get you to when you get red of your dirty dishes,
- 8:27Speaker 2: you got to wash them. You got to put them in.
- 8:29Speaker 2: You know a lot of people will just take dishes
- 8:31Speaker 2: and we'll stick them and the dishwasher thing and I'll
- 8:33Speaker 2: go clean. Now, No, they're still dirty, and I have hands.
- 8:36Speaker 2: They'll go into a dish washer to get to the food.
- 8:40Speaker 2: If you live in an environment that has loan me
- 8:44Speaker 2: see soil and have the ability to have a huge
- 8:50Speaker 2: amount of ants, and they come in quite often. Yeah,
- 8:53Speaker 2: we'll try to knock them out, but we're never going
- 8:55Speaker 2: to get them all out of the other that's just
- 8:56Speaker 2: not going to happen. And once they find they Iron two,
- 9:00Speaker 2: they're gonna bring all the friends, like the cartoons, they're
- 9:03Speaker 2: going to have the nap stocks, they're going to command,
- 9:05Speaker 2: They're to fill nap stocks. They go back. The reason
- 9:08Speaker 2: that bay works the bait for the ants. The way
- 9:11Speaker 2: that works is the ants will eat the food they
- 9:14Speaker 2: go back, and the feed between and the feed the laws,
- 9:16Speaker 2: and if they get enough of that bait, they'll kill
- 9:18Speaker 2: a whole colony. It works really really lost, really efficient.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Wow, we amazing. So you do find the solutions, that's
- 9:26Speaker 1: for sure. Hey how do folks find you? I mean,
- 9:29Speaker 1: you've got a phone number that probably rings quite often.
- 9:32Speaker 1: What's the phone number?
- 9:34Speaker 2: So our phone number is nine one eight four four
- 9:37Speaker 2: zero eight seven nine seven.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And I imagine you probably have a Facebook page or
- 9:43Speaker 1: something like that the folks can refer to every now
- 9:46Speaker 1: and then if they want any other extra information.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Yeah, you can get advanced posts solutions on Facebook, and
- 9:53Speaker 2: you can contact me to that. It's kind of a nightmare.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I've got Facebook people contacted may I've got two phones
- 10:01Speaker 2: of my personal number, and I got a phone to
- 10:03Speaker 2: a cult this morning at eight o'clock from somebody that
- 10:06Speaker 2: has my first song number, so I can't not answer
- 10:08Speaker 2: that phone. Business and very accessible sometimes, and sometimes I
- 10:16Speaker 2: kind of wish we didn't have phones to it because
- 10:18Speaker 2: I'll be on one phone and then the other phone
- 10:21Speaker 2: away and I'll have to put one person on hold
- 10:23Speaker 2: to get to the other one. And and if it's
- 10:25Speaker 2: if it's a situation like you know, beggars for instance,
- 10:28Speaker 2: that's not a three minute communication. I mean that's that's
- 10:30Speaker 2: something in order to talk to them, it takes a
- 10:33Speaker 2: little bit of time, so you know, But but you know,
- 10:37Speaker 2: my whole deal is I kind of feel like this
- 10:39Speaker 2: is a ministry of sorts and how people have problems
- 10:43Speaker 2: and people are really you know, freaked out by spiders
- 10:47Speaker 2: or freaked out by obviously bedboes. Sure, and I kind
- 10:50Speaker 2: of give them a chance to kind of get through that. Well.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Very good. It's a great way of looking at it.
- 10:55Speaker 1: It's a great way of looking at it. Indeed, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 1: I'm kind of with me there on the phone's being
- 11:00Speaker 1: too much of a problem. If indeed I ever retire,
- 11:04Speaker 1: my phone's going in the Caney River right right.
- 11:08Speaker 2: The book put the boat port bot going on my cruise.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Is you have more phone service?
- 11:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's true. But you know we're still working
- 11:17Speaker 1: and we're still plugging away. So we still got those
- 11:19Speaker 1: phones brother and there, and you know the worst thing
- 11:21Speaker 1: that could happen is that they don't ring.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and now I've got when I when I go
- 11:27Speaker 2: on vacation, I'll give my phones to Jordan and he
- 11:29Speaker 2: will answer. We're still still We're always accessible exactly, And
- 11:33Speaker 2: I'm not fussing about it. It's it's it's it's a
- 11:35Speaker 2: great problem to have to have the phone ring. An
- 11:37Speaker 2: officer who can trying to figure out what to set everybody,
- 11:41Speaker 2: and it's it's a good thing to to, you know,
- 11:45Speaker 2: win contest and and I be known as someone that
- 11:50Speaker 2: does a quality job and we'll kind of get that
- 11:52Speaker 2: reputation and take and more than that, we just kind
- 11:56Speaker 2: of we kind of kind of love on our customers,
- 11:57Speaker 2: I mean, because that's that's kind of what we're supposed
- 12:00Speaker 2: to do, right We're supposed to help each other and
- 12:02Speaker 2: come together as much as we can.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Well, Quinton, you know, the thing is is that many
- 12:06Speaker 1: of your customers have become a good family friends.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, we've We've got a lot of customers
- 12:13Speaker 2: that are you know you you look towards every month
- 12:19Speaker 2: you get to see them, and then they're not there
- 12:21Speaker 2: because they're not available at that time. It's it's kind
- 12:24Speaker 2: of a letdown because you know, you haven't got him
- 12:25Speaker 2: from them. I've got I've got one family. I've done
- 12:28Speaker 2: five generations for him. Uh So it's it's you. It's
- 12:34Speaker 2: beyond the one. There's a couple of benefits and no one.
- 12:37Speaker 2: It's beyond just a business acquaints. It's actually a friendship.
- 12:42Speaker 2: And if you if you build relationships, it's harder to
- 12:45Speaker 2: fire people, it's harder to get rid of them. They
- 12:47Speaker 2: look forward to seeing you, and it's it's it's a
- 12:52Speaker 2: business like no other business, I off think because you
- 12:54Speaker 2: get to go and people, you get to work, their
- 12:56Speaker 2: kids go up and and buildings pretty asking relationships with people.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Oh man, this is great. Hey, I want to thank
- 13:04Speaker 1: you for being with us today. We did it by phone,
- 13:06Speaker 1: and by golly, we pulled it off Quintin for good right,
- 13:11Speaker 1: Thanks for being with us here on our one on
- 13:14Speaker 1: one with the pro advanced past solutions and Quentin mackew
- 13:17Speaker 1: is the guy and you want to get a hold
- 13:19Speaker 1: of if you need such a solution. Thank you for
- 13:23Speaker 1: being with us.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Well, thank you for thanks for having me and like
- 13:27Speaker 2: I say, next couple of weeks ago, I'll also be
- 13:29Speaker 2: in the studio.
- 13:30Speaker 1: All right, we'll see you then, Bye bye now
