- 1:26or in their present form in terms of completeness completeness for decades. However,
- 1:32today's serial was one where the final episode was not found till sometime in the
- 1:40middle of the last decade, so it's not been heard as often. But
- 1:44let's go ahead and take a listen to today's episode The Sea Legs Matter from
- 1:52Hollywood. It's time now for Johnny darn Hi, Johnny, didn't you tell
- 2:00me one time at your quite a nut about fishing? Then got McCracken at
- 2:02Universal Jesment Bureau, Doggonnett. You know you spiked my plans for a fishing
- 2:07trip just a few weeks ago. Oh yeah, all right, let's on
- 2:09your mind. Big fish, real big fish. You ever hear of Douglas
- 2:14A land fair? Uh millionaire playboy sportsman? Your answer had well? Didn't
- 2:17I read somewhere that he was sure? Did? Johnny at the bottom of
- 2:21the Deep Blue Sea? And a four hundred thousand dollars claim has been filed
- 2:24interested an expense account based on that will be a pleasure. Good night and
- 2:36every weekday Night Bob Bailey and the Transcribed Adventures of the Man with the Action
- 2:40Tact Expense Account America's Fabulous Freelance Insurance Investigator, Yours Trulee Johnny Dollar Problem Special
- 3:00Investigator Johnny Dollar a Universal Adjustment Bureau, Hartford, Connecticut. Following is an
- 3:06accounting of expenditures during my investigation of the Sea Legs Matter. Expense account out
- 3:15of one ninety cents taxi from my apartment to the offices of Universal Adjustment where
- 3:19Pat McCracken was waiting for me with a handful and a head full of information.
- 3:23Who claims Johnny? Both filed by Constance Landsfeir the wife here copies of
- 3:28them. I'll come too, pap now. Number one is against Douglas Landfair's
- 3:30life policy with Greater Southwest Life and Casually Insurance Company two hundred and fifty thousand.
- 3:35Oh, what's the other? One hundred and fifty thousand International Maritime Organization
- 3:38for the loss of the land Fair yacht four hundred thousand clan. That's right,
- 3:44Okay, what's the story? Well, Landfair was making a triple on
- 3:47the coast of Central America and his yacht the Sea Legs. He ran onto
- 3:51a rock or something, The boat sank and he and his crew one went
- 3:53down with it. Well, do you have any reason to question the validity
- 3:57of the claim by missus Landfair two and a half years ago? Landfair himself
- 4:00filely claimed with International Maritime It seems he lost a power cruiser in't exactly the
- 4:04same place near the Buldaro Islands off coast of Nicaragua eighty five thousand dollars total
- 4:12loss happened in a spot where not one bit of the reculd be salvage.
- 4:15Oh where'd you learn that? Local authorities in his small Nicaraguaan seaport and missus
- 4:19Landfair. She was with him on that trip, but she wasn't with him
- 4:21on this one aboard the sea lakes. No, or presumably she wouldn't be
- 4:25around to file a claim. Where's Constant Landfair now home, as far as
- 4:30I know, lives on their small estate on Long Island out near the town
- 4:32of cut Yagua. Do you want to call her talk to her? No?
- 4:36I think I'll go down there. Item two twenty one to twenty fair
- 4:44and miscellaneias to cut you on Long Island? Item three a buck even for
- 4:47a taxi from the little station to the landfair estate the state did you call
- 4:54it? Mister? Well, isn't it well? It used to be before
- 4:57the landfair is sold awful lot of it. So I guess there was nothing
- 5:00else you could do to keep up with that highway of living. Keep talking
- 5:04for him? Well, the old man land for his father in law.
- 5:09He had plenty, I guess rapt he died. All kids seemed to do
- 5:13to spend it. You know what I mean. Fancy yachts, let's polo,
- 5:16playing flood in the winter, main the summer, all that sort of
- 5:20thing. Oh, there's place now, right up ahead there on the right.
- 5:27I looked, and when I saw, apparently bore out what the taxi
- 5:30driver had said. A big stone wall surrounded what had evidently been the original
- 5:33rather vast property belonging to the estate. Square. In the middle of it
- 5:36set what was probably once called a mansion, but small new modern homes were
- 5:42crowding in on the old house. Hello, this is Lan. I'm Johnny
- 5:58Dollar. I'm representing the Universal Usment Bureau on hardfare. Oh yes, of
- 6:01course, in connection with the insurer. Well won't you come in please writing
- 6:06here, mister Dollar, and do pardon the looks of the place. I'm
- 6:10afraid I've neglected things somewhat since well sait down. Please thank you. I
- 6:18hope you don't mind answering a few questions, missus lampfere. But since you've
- 6:24already filed claims on the insurance policies, well, I'll try to be as
- 6:27brief as possible. I don't want to see in cold blotted about it,
- 6:30mister Dollar. But the initial shock of losing Doug and the loss of the
- 6:33yacht is passed. There's nothing to be gained in just sitting around feeling sorry
- 6:38for myself, particularly in view of the day to day problems I have to
- 6:42face. What problems, missus lampfere to be perfectly blunt about it? Financial
- 6:47mostly Well, I must say your attitude is very commendable. It's a necessary
- 6:53attitude under the circumstances. Now, what may I tell you? If you're
- 6:58sure you don't mind talking about it, I'd like to know all I can
- 7:00about the circumstances surrounding the sinking of the yacht. Well, I don't quite
- 7:05know how to start. We were on a just a pleasure crew. You
- 7:10were along on this trip, yes, that is, up until until the
- 7:15day it happened. Oh why did Doug ever happened? I'm sorry, mister
- 7:23Well. We were just taking our time, cruising south along the east coast
- 7:28of Central America, doing a little fishing. We'd often taken the sea legs
- 7:31down there. That's the yacht, Yes, a motor sailor here on the
- 7:36wall. This is a picture of her. That's Doug on deck. Oh
- 7:42isn't she beautiful? Sixty eight feet over all, twenty footeen solid tea decade
- 7:48everything. Yes, that is a good looking bottom. Terrible to lose something
- 7:53is nice as that, isn't it? Yes, yes, Dennica. Along
- 7:58the coast of Nicaragua, Doug decided to put in at San Juan del Pero.
- 8:03That's where the sea lakes had originally been built. But the sand bar
- 8:07formations have almost ruined San Juana's a court. So we went on up to
- 8:09Bluefield. Oh, yes, I understand that's now the best seaport on the
- 8:13Caribbean side of Nicaragua. You know that country down there only from what I've
- 8:18read. Oh, but go on please, Well, while we were there,
- 8:24he had some work done on our radio equipment. We'd had trouble with
- 8:26it on the way down. Ah. When the work was finished, of
- 8:30course, he wanted to try it out. He found a radio amateur in
- 8:33Porto Gado, so he asked me to stay on shore while he and the
- 8:37skipper went out to sea. We kept in contact every few minutes while he
- 8:41headed the Buldero Islands, the Boldero Islands. Isn't that why you lost to
- 8:46power? Cruiser a couple of years ago. Yes, the conneo named after
- 8:50me, and I begged him not to go out there again. Why missus
- 8:52landcare because of the treacherous currents between the two little islands, the great deep
- 8:56that lies between them, terribly dangerous, with pinnacles of rock that reach up
- 9:01almost to the surface. Well, why did he go out there again to
- 9:03prove a point? That's all, to prove a point. Look, I'm
- 9:07afraid I don't follow you. Douguld blame the loss of the Carneo two years
- 9:11before on poor seamanship by the man at the wheel. He wanted to prove
- 9:13that he could take a boat through there safely. Kind Of looks like he
- 9:18was wrong, doesn't it. His last words over the radio where that a
- 9:22rock had torn the bottom out of the Sea Legs almost dollar before the signal
- 9:26stopped. I could hear the crunching of the holl and the sound of the
- 9:30waters that swept in and over. It was terrible. You sent someone out
- 9:33there right away, of course, yes, but it was no use.
- 9:35Sea Legs was gone and with it went my husband and the man with him,
- 9:43and the uh the bodies were never born before. When we lost the
- 9:50Carnio. We had time to put on life preservers launched the small boat.
- 9:52I must admit I wanted how it was when the sea legs went down.
- 9:56There wasn't time, and I could hear it over the radio, and it
- 9:58was terrible. I'm sorry, it's all right, I'm all right, Jeff,
- 10:07mister Doll. I I may have to go down there, missus land
- 10:11Fair and go through the motions of an investigation, you know, but then
- 10:16you your companies will pay the claims. I s see no reason now why
- 10:20not terrible would have to be so frank about it. But I do need
- 10:26the money, Johnny, I was telling the truth. I didn't see any
- 10:31reason why the claim shouldn't be paid. Perhaps Connie Landfair's explanation of why she
- 10:35wasn't grieving over the loss of her husband was true, But more than once
- 10:39I wondered if she weren't far more concerned over the loss of the yacht or
- 10:43about how soon she could collect on the policies. Then that deliberate slip and
- 10:48starting to call me by my first name, Just what are your plans,
- 10:52missus Lanfair? The plans, Johnny, I don't quite know what you mean.
- 10:56Well, I suppose the companies make prompt payment on these claims. That'll
- 11:00mean four hundred thousand dollars. Well, really, mister dollar, aren't you
- 11:03overstepping bounds a little bit? Maybe? But if it'll make you feel any
- 11:07better, or if it will help to hasten settlement, I'll tell you I'll
- 11:11sell what is left of this property and leave the country for awhere, somewhere
- 11:15in Europe, on the continent alone. I think you, of course,
- 11:20sorry. I just wanted Doug and I were too close to even think of
- 11:24my having boyfriends or whatever you want to call it. The more I think
- 11:28about it, the more I resent that question. No particular implication meant,
- 11:31missus mine. For the next thing, they'll start implying that the sea legs
- 11:35wasn't wrecked at all, that that is still alive somewhere, And then if
- 11:37you can't dig them up out of the sea, your precious companies can somehow
- 11:41contrive to keep the money that is rightfully mine can get out of pay long
- 11:45from what I thought was a little the more she talked, the more I
- 11:50became convinced that something was very wrong about this case. I let her vent
- 11:56heor fury on me. It was simulated fury, I thought. Then I
- 11:58called TEXI again in elefts Oh, no, sir, mister, you're all
- 12:03wrong. Them land peers. There was figures, two peas in a box.
- 12:05They tell me. Did you ever notice any particular friends either of them
- 12:09may have had. Well, there was always throwing them big bodies. That
- 12:11what you mean, big society type brawl. No, no, I was
- 12:15thinking of girl friends for him or boyfriends for her. Who knows, sir,
- 12:20he was her, she was his. No playing around, not like
- 12:22most people. That said, and I know, I know, everything goes
- 12:28out and cut you off. Back in New York, I found that the
- 12:35best immediate routing to Nicaragua was by playing to Dallas, then to Mexico City,
- 12:39and finally to Monagua on the West coast. I mean a reservation on
- 12:41the Dallas plane immediately that set him four, and then spend a dollar forty
- 12:45that set him five on a phone called a Pat Mccrackenback in Hartford, Well,
- 12:48sure, Johnny, if you think it's important enough my commission. Yeah,
- 12:52I've already made my reservation for the first leg of the two. Now
- 12:54don't go off aboard on the expense of co Kat, how you talking?
- 12:56But you really smell a rat? A well, look to report the landfairs
- 13:01were real? Buddy, Buddy, she loved him, he loved her,
- 13:03Yet only a couple of weeks after his death, she's a lot more concerned
- 13:07over the loss of that boat than she is over him. Oh, I
- 13:11don't know what to think meantime. If you can afford it, why don't
- 13:13you have somebody to keep a check on her? Well, sure, Johnny,
- 13:16but with what specifically in mind? I don't know. After all,
- 13:22I didn't have any real concrete reason for feeling that this case was fishy.
- 13:26It was more a hunch than anything else, but a real strong one,
- 13:31and I felt that after my visit to her, Connie Landfair would do something
- 13:35just what I hadn't the least idea, But whatever it was, I wanted
- 13:39to know about it. It was a couple of hours later that I started
- 13:41to pick up the telephone to order a cab to the airport. Johnny Dollar,
- 13:46this is bad again, Johnny. Oh high, I ordered a man
- 13:48to keep tabs on Connie Landfair. Good. You're all friend to Jackie Brandy
- 13:52Singer. Fine? You know what she seems to have left town in a
- 13:56hurry, no trace. Uh oh, you're still going to Yeah, but
- 14:01keep looking for right expense account. Adam six four to seventy five taxi and
- 14:07tip to LaGuardia Feel where my taken a seat reservation were waiting for me.
- 14:13Within a few minutes, I was comfortably ensconced in my seat by the window.
- 14:16The passenger door was closed, and the big planes' engines were warming up
- 14:20at the trip to Dallas, And suddenly the cabin door opened again. A
- 14:24feminine figure skip lightly in and plunk herself down on the seat next to mine.
- 14:31Well, how nice missus went. Surprise Johnny, now here's our star
- 14:52to tell you about tomorrow's episode of this week's story. Tomorrow of the seeds
- 14:56of suspicion really begin to sprout with the help one of the wildest characters I
- 15:01ever met? Join us, Won't you Yours Truly? Johnny Daller? Yours
- 15:11Truly Johnny Dollar, starring Bob Bailey, is transcribed in Hollywood. It is
- 15:16produced and directed by Jack Johnstone, who also wrote this week's story. Be
- 15:22sure to join us tomorrow night, same time and station for the next exciting
- 15:26episode of Yours Truly. Johnny Dollar Roy Rowan speaking from Hollywood. It's time
- 16:33now for Johnny Dellar. You called hard Hello, McCracken, what you get
- 16:44me out of bed for this time? I'm calling from the airport in Dallas.
- 16:47I mean you're going on in Nicaragua. Yep, all right, and
- 16:49I know why you're calling you answers. No, we still haven't found any
- 16:52trace of Constance Landfair. So why don't you come on back here and start
- 16:55from scratch, because I have found some trace of County Landfair. It sure
- 17:00is, brother. What's that supposed to me? Pat? She just happened
- 17:04to occupy a seat aboard the plane right next to mine. Well, Johnny,
- 17:07why don't you work on the facts of the case where it change instead
- 17:10of on the woman involved? Patrick Ever hear of killing two birds with one
- 17:14stone tonight and every weekday night Bob Bailey in the Transcribed Adventures of the Man
- 17:26with the Action Pact Expense account America's Fabulous pre Lance Insurance Investigator, Yours Truly,
- 17:32Johnny Dollar, from Special Investigator Johnny Dollar, location Bluefields, Nicaragua to
- 17:51the Universal Adjustment Bureau, Hertford, Connecticut. Following is an accounting of expenses
- 17:56incurred during my investigation of the Sea Legs matter expense account item A five twenty
- 18:04five late supper at the Dallas Airport for Connie and myself during the wait for
- 18:08our midnight plane to Mexico City, which we finally bought in and which finally
- 18:12took off. And on this trip I learned no more, no less from
- 18:15Connie than I had on the flight from New York to Dallas. For instance,
- 18:19Doug and I were so close in everything, same friends, the same
- 18:23interest. That's why we always took the law on the audience trips together,
- 18:27did everything together. As a matter of fact, I felt that her somewhat
- 18:32overdone assurances of how much she loved her and late husband could have been to
- 18:34throw off any suspicion I might have that she'd done him in another for instance,
- 18:38I still can't get over the coincidence about both deciding to go in Nicarague
- 18:42at the same time. But believe me, Johnny, mister Gunner, I'm
- 18:47just as anxious to clear up this whole thing as you are. The more
- 18:49I thought about it, the more certain I was that it was not just
- 18:52coincidence that had put her on the same plane with me, And the more
- 18:56Leary, I felt I know the country so well too. I think I
- 19:00told you the Sea Legs was built in a small shipyard in San Maun del
- 19:03Pado, at south of the Fields. Yeah, that's at the lower end
- 19:07of the East coast, isn't it. You do know something about Nicaragua,
- 19:11din't. Oh, well, only what I've seen on the maps. Oh,
- 19:15let's see, we can get a plane from Anagua to the east coast.
- 19:18Oh. Yes, Nicaragua boast two or three commercial airlines. I'm sure
- 19:22at least one of them makes a direct flight to Bluefields. That's where we
- 19:26put in with the Sea Legs. You know, before before shoots, before
- 19:30the beautiful thing went down between those awful Buldero Islands and took your husband with
- 19:36her. Oh yes, poor dug. There it was again more apparent concern
- 19:45over the loss of the Sea Legs than over the husband she claimed to have
- 19:48loved so much, And still no explanation of why she decided to go back
- 19:52to Nicaragua. Her decision must have been sudden too. Right after I'd seen
- 19:57her at a home on Long Island from Mexico City, we took a deluxe
- 20:04four engine playing to Monogua, but the last leg of the City of Bluefields
- 20:07was in a two engine something that looked like war surplus, tied together with
- 20:11baling wire. At midnight, we signed into the Providencia Hotel and after a
- 20:17hearty meal, retired to our respective rooms to make up for law sleep.
- 20:19I had not planned to wake up at six am, but fate decreed otherwise.
- 20:26Hu Ah, you're feeling that. Yeah, sure, just a minute,
- 20:33I'll get up and open the door. No, no, no,
- 20:34no, do not disturb yourself here, sir. There you see there was
- 20:41no need to disturb yoursel. Well just a minute. Who are you,
- 20:45Uster Patrick, Vladimi Gtto at your service, Oscar Patrick. Hey you,
- 20:51my dear mister Dolan. They just called me Oscar. Now that we are
- 20:53working together, working together, whatever and no matter what your needs, I
- 20:59am Oscar Patrick vladimieper scattl will provide them for you. For a smaller financial
- 21:03pitter himself course, let me straighten your pillow. Wait a minute, where
- 21:11did you get the key you just used to open this door? Ah,
- 21:15As you can see, mister Dollard, I am prepared for everything. That
- 21:18is why I can be of such unestimable service too. Oh no, the
- 21:22devil is practice I ordered for you, of course. Ah here, my
- 21:26goodness, I will think you like collective pips other times get lost. This
- 21:36is a gag, is some kind of How can you say it's not a
- 21:38thing after I just saved you paying that menial? Serve a big tip?
- 21:42Here now tomato juice, orange juice cream, chippyp on throws eggs lamb chops,
- 21:48graveling, little sausage, your toast, tony jam and cost. You
- 21:52expect me to eat all of that? If I am to be of help
- 21:56to you in this important campaign, I must keep my strength up. Oh
- 22:00I beg your pardon, and at my expense, of course, of course,
- 22:03after all, nowhere else in Central America can you get such valuable help
- 22:07as I can give you. Yeah, well, just what gives you the
- 22:10idea I may need your help? A good question? Oh here, let
- 22:14me prop you up on your pillow so that you can enjoy it to still
- 22:18ask? There you are, Oh, it doesn't look so good this morning,
- 22:22So I shall take that and business while you enjoy your breakfast. Won't
- 22:30wait for me? Mister? Look so again? With how did you know
- 22:33my name? Easy? You signed the hotel register. Okay, But then
- 22:38how did you know? Who has not heard that the famous free lancing insurant
- 22:42teams together. It's such a lovely big fat expense account lucking. So that's
- 22:48what appeels in, of course. And who am I, Oscar Patrick?
- 22:53Exactly? Who am I thought I shouldn't learn a couple of tricks or two
- 22:56from such a great man? Oh? Brother, seems to me you learn
- 23:00plenty already, thank you, And that is why I should be at such
- 23:03magnitudinous assistance to you in the sea ings matter for a pitance, you understand
- 23:07me, say one hundred dollars a day? How about ten seventy fifteen twenty
- 23:17a day? And not one pen anymore? Sorry ask her? But you
- 23:21are not higher, mister Dollar. You bleed me to the quick? How
- 23:25else could you solve this case without me? Do you really know something about
- 23:29the sea legs? And how did you know I came here to investigate it?
- 23:33In the second place? What else would such a distinguished instigator to be
- 23:36doing than the case of the American boat lost in the book Dollar Islands?
- 23:40Especially coming here? But this is lanth here and in the first place,
- 23:42because I know all about it, all right? All right, ask you
- 23:45tell me this. Do you think there's anything funny about the loss of the
- 23:49Sea Leggs? I am sure of it was a crime of the first and
- 23:52second. Why because you are here you can do better than that, all
- 23:57right, because I am always sure there is something crooked going on until the
- 24:02guilty ones are approved otherwise, or until the innocent bums are approved whatever is
- 24:06left which decides the point? Because I will shure of it in the first
- 24:07place. Yeah, anyhow, the first thing for you to do is make
- 24:11it trip to Port the God, the last point of contact with the Sea
- 24:15Legs before she was wrecked. Exactly. I have a plane ready and waiting
- 24:18for your own personal use applying. Yeah. Else one hundred and fifty miles
- 24:22by oxcar or both. Well, no, no, no, First,
- 24:26however, I like to contact the authorities here in blue Field. What do
- 24:30the authority is not about crime? Me? I know all about it.
- 24:33Yeah, I'm beginning to think you do ask you too much? Probably,
- 24:36thank you, mister. I respect your high opinion on myself. All right.
- 24:40I don't know yet what your recked is, man, that I can
- 24:44make plain to you in two words morning. Okay, Look, if you
- 24:48can't get me a small plane? Yes? Good? Is the address to
- 24:51give to the taxi driver when you are ready to go to the airfield that
- 24:53I actually be waiting for you. Oh not the big airport. No,
- 24:56no, no, no, that is where the lady, missus Lancair.
- 25:00I would expect you to look for transportation, asking you one of the craziest
- 25:03I knew you wouldn't want her coming along, And if she ever gets in
- 25:07your way during your camera, you will keep her out of my wine?
- 25:10Yes, at my expense. What else I'll tell you something? Asking if
- 25:15there is a wrong angle to this case. I can't help wondering if she
- 25:18isn't a part of it. You read my mind, you see, I
- 25:21like brothers under the team. You say you have a plane all ready to
- 25:23go, then we can be on our way before missus Lampey knows we've left.
- 25:29Hey, you want to set the trailer there so I can get up?
- 25:30Oh? Yes, of course, I'll set it right over here.
- 25:33Anti. Hey, wait a minute, what are you going through my pockets
- 25:38for just accepting a small tip for bringing up your breakfast? Thank you?
- 25:49If only half of what Oscar said was true, it was conceivable that he
- 25:52could be of helpful. I check with the hotel manager in the local police.
- 25:56They knew Oscar well and told me that he pretty much lived on the
- 26:00occasional American tourist who showed up. Then he acted his guide show for pilot,
- 26:03anything for a price that they could be trusted implicitly by whoever happened to
- 26:08be paying him at the moment, and which was important to me. He
- 26:11knew the country and his people inside out, was a fun of information about
- 26:15anything and anybody. So I decided to let him tag along for a while.
- 26:21The Federal Maritime h well, the equivalent of our Coastguard, had headquarters
- 26:26in the harbor area, and I found a captain narrow spoke fair English.
- 26:30I'm sorry, said your dollar, but you know as much as we do.
- 26:33We sent the boat of quarter, but we find no sign of the
- 26:36sea legs or the poor people who go down with nothing. Yeah. Well,
- 26:41I'm thinking of going up to Port of Guardo, where she took off
- 26:44on her last trip. You the excellent idea. From there, you can
- 26:47fly out of the Boldaro Islands where the Kedta cord and that's what I was
- 26:51thinking. But in addition to an airplane, you must also need a pilot
- 26:56and a guide. You have someone to suggest, I see there is but
- 27:00one. Send you an Oscar, Patrick Vladerasque precisely, I am nine twenty
- 27:08cents American for a three mile ride and an all model t Ford to the
- 27:11little private airstrip where, true to his word, Oscar and rented an almost
- 27:15brand new two plays playing for us. You had it warmed up and ready
- 27:18to go, so fasten your beltit you dollar relaxed and enjoy it and he'll
- 27:26take off. You sure you can fly this thing? Asker ha, I
- 27:30am the finest part of the nigga, maybe in the whole world. I'm
- 27:33even a compil Just how much is the useless plane Costingly? You ask her
- 27:38for me a special right, so don't worry about it. Here we go
- 27:41into the how much will we use your prices? Thirty nine dollars a day
- 27:45American? But me I always have a deal, and that's on account of
- 27:48I give to feel so much business. So now that is ask her how
- 27:53much forty five dollars a day? Do you see what the beautiful view we
- 27:57have? Forty five the pay and the Caribbean on one side, and the
- 28:02flat empty margin and planes on the way. Thirty five dollars a day is
- 28:07a regular rade. What's so special about forty five for may? Oh?
- 28:10No, mister dollar, for me? Surely you wouldn't expect the finest pilot
- 28:15in the whole entire world to work finating? Are you? Okay? Okay?
- 28:19But Bob took this along getting to the airfield, mister Dollar a couple
- 28:23of calls. I wanted to make us all, Why why you have disappointed
- 28:26me? And all the time I thought you had the uppermost confident me.
- 28:30Now what's that supposed to me? First you tell me you do not want
- 28:33the lady to know you're awakened up and going missus lamp Fair? Yes,
- 28:37And then what happens? You tell her all about it? What makes you
- 28:41think that? Why else did she come tearing out to the airfield while I
- 28:45was waiting for you in a minute, ran herself a plane and take cause
- 28:48in it? What she took off just a couple of minutes before? Read
- 28:52it, honey Lampsfair shattering a plane? Why and it goes where? And
- 29:00after her offer to stick by me and help me, why would she do
- 29:03it without letting me know? There are a lot of questions to be answered
- 29:07in this case, and most of them to be answered by Connie Landfair.
- 29:25Now here's our star to tell you about tomorrow's episode of this week's story.

- 31:18as Pat McCracken. Also, if you are a fan of The Man Called
- 31:26X, you may find this character somewhat uh somewhat familiar. He definitely has
- 31:34a lot of similarity to Pegan Welschmidt in terms of overall attitude and modus operanda,
- 31:44and that's probably no coincidence since Jack Johnstone was a director on The Man
- 31:51Called X on CBS. Now we turned to an email I received from a
- 31:56listener Mark, who says the but he had an idea for a friend on
- 32:04their birthday, and I want to see what I can find for old time
- 32:08radio shows that played on the day of her birth. And then he asked
- 32:14me to identify where he could find programs or a listing of programs that aired
- 32:21on a particular day. And if you do want to find that out,
- 32:24say you want to find out what radio programs are out there that played on
- 32:30the day you were born. The website I would recommend you going to is
- 32:34what I've referred to before. It's Radio goldindex dot com. And after you
- 32:39click the start there there is an option in red to search by date,
- 32:45and they have years from nineteen twenty two to two thousand and fourteen. Once
- 32:52you get past the early part of the nineteen fifties, there are less transcriptions
- 33:00available just because there were less programs being made. But nonetheless, that is
- 33:08where I would recommend people to go is radio gooldindex dot com. He goes
- 33:15on to say, I love to hear the backgrounds you give and know you
