- 0:10Speaker 1: Went insurance troth.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I'm a check with the audults. Hey, everybody, welcome to
- 0:33Speaker 2: Conspiracy the Show. I'm Adam Todd Brown.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Who are you. I'm Olivia Heidar.
- 0:39Speaker 2: That I believe makes us your hosts Olivia, how's it going.
- 0:43Speaker 1: It's going good. It's going good. Kick complain, Yeah, sunny day,
- 0:47Speaker 1: is it?
- 0:48Speaker 2: That's good? In Indianapolis, I was just in the Midwest
- 0:52Speaker 2: and it was the weirdest thing. It was cold enough
- 0:55Speaker 2: when I first got there that I went to Old
- 0:58Speaker 2: Navy and bought a coat. Yeah, and then I immediately
- 1:01Speaker 2: didn't need that. It got like just warm enough for
- 1:04Speaker 2: me to not need that, but it was still like sixties,
- 1:07Speaker 2: like high sixties, like mid to high sixties. Sure. Sure,
- 1:11Speaker 2: And then like the last four hours in the Midwest,
- 1:15Speaker 2: it just all of a sudden was ninety five degrees.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll speak up on you.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I don't know how I don't have pneumonia right now.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I think it's because I was in a car when
- 1:26Speaker 2: that change all happened, and that right ran into an
- 1:29Speaker 2: airport and got back to a place with regular weather.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, the weather here, I mean, I'm sure it's
- 1:37Speaker 1: slightly different. I'm sure you were in more of the
- 1:39Speaker 1: plains area of the Midwest. Plane is right, Yes, I mean,
- 1:44Speaker 1: of course, you know, Indiana is a little bit more
- 1:48Speaker 1: in the eastern like RUSTBELTI part of the Midwest. But
- 1:53Speaker 1: we do have a fun thing where it will be
- 1:57Speaker 1: thirty degrees on Monday and then on Wednesday it'll be eighty.
- 2:02Speaker 1: That's about That's just how spring is. Now.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Well, what's fun about when that happens, because I remember
- 2:09Speaker 2: that from living in the Midwest, is when it snows
- 2:11Speaker 2: in between. Sure, yeah, it's like thirty, it snows and
- 2:16Speaker 2: then it's eighty and that goes right in your basement.
- 2:19Speaker 2: All that water just goes right into your basement, and
- 2:23Speaker 2: it's a huge fiasco for everybody. Uh yep.
- 2:26Speaker 1: That's why I'm glad I don't have one.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why I moved to a place that doesn't
- 2:30Speaker 2: have basements or seasons, either of those things. So this
- 2:34Speaker 2: week we're doing a different sort of episode. We do
- 2:37Speaker 2: these episodes on the Unpopular Opinion podcast all the time.
- 2:41Speaker 2: We do local news roundups on pretty scary we do
- 2:45Speaker 2: creepy news Roundupskay Conspiracy podcast doesn't quite lend itself to
- 2:51Speaker 2: a news round up. Usually it's not like you can
- 2:54Speaker 2: just google conspiracy news and there's right fresh content every
- 2:59Speaker 2: single day. That's not really how conspiracy theories.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Work, right, And also like a lot of times, like
- 3:07Speaker 1: if something does pop up, you know it's something that
- 3:11Speaker 1: maybe requires a little bit more of a deep dive
- 3:14Speaker 1: approach than the kind of the scattershot.
- 3:18Speaker 2: I mean, I could just pull up I'm sure one
- 3:20Speaker 2: American News has a website and I oh.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, oh my god.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Page and pull headlines from that and we could take
- 3:29Speaker 2: it from there.
- 3:30Speaker 1: But do you want to do that to your soul
- 3:33Speaker 1: as like a regular podcast thing.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I don't want it in my search history, even though
- 3:40Speaker 2: I admitted on the most recent on pops that I
- 3:43Speaker 2: did sign up for truth Social when given the opportunity,
- 3:47Speaker 2: and then they sent me the email and we're like
- 3:49Speaker 2: you're in, and I was like, I'm over it. I
- 3:53Speaker 2: bet it's stupid. So I took a slightly more ethical approach,
- 3:58Speaker 2: I think, to finding story to see if a conspiracy
- 4:01Speaker 2: news round up was possible, and by that I typed
- 4:05Speaker 2: the word conspiracy into Google. I don't know if I've
- 4:08Speaker 2: heard of Google, but it's okay site where if you
- 4:11Speaker 2: search words, it will tell you things about those words,
- 4:15Speaker 2: and I typed in conspiracy and I headed to the
- 4:19Speaker 2: news section. And because we are living in the age
- 4:22Speaker 2: of QAnon, there was actually plenty to talk about.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I'm sure, yes, So that's what we're going to do.
- 4:28Speaker 2: We're going to talk about some conspiracy related news and
- 4:36Speaker 2: speaking of QAnon, this story is from February of this year.
- 4:41Speaker 2: About a quarter of Republicans would consider themselves QAnon adherents.
- 4:47Speaker 2: That is according to a poll conducted by the Public
- 4:50Speaker 2: Religion Research Institute. Is that higher or lower than you
- 4:55Speaker 2: thought it would be?
- 4:56Speaker 1: That is about what I would have guessed. Like, if
- 5:01Speaker 1: you gunn to my head asked me to guess, it
- 5:04Speaker 1: would have been twenty five to thirty percent, that would
- 5:08Speaker 1: have been my guess.
- 5:09Speaker 2: See, I would have said closer to forty to fifty percent. Yeah,
- 5:13Speaker 2: I mean, I guess. I don't really take any comfort
- 5:17Speaker 2: in this because a quarter of Republicans that's a whole
- 5:21Speaker 2: lot of people.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Right, And also the other three quarters don't care if
- 5:27Speaker 1: people are qan on and will vote for q and
- 5:29Speaker 1: On people, so it doesn't in the end, we're kind
- 5:33Speaker 1: of split in semantic cares.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah, if it comes down to red Q versus blue
- 5:38Speaker 2: Q people are going to vote either way. It's still
- 5:41Speaker 2: just another version of lesser of two evils, right, So yeah,
- 5:45Speaker 2: I guess in the big scheme of things, it doesn't
- 5:48Speaker 2: matter except the part where that quarter of Republicans translates
- 5:52Speaker 2: to forty four million people, which means there are forty
- 5:56Speaker 2: four million people in this world who would have absolutely
- 5:59Speaker 2: no problem with their only being forty four million people
- 6:03Speaker 2: in the United States and it being those forty four
- 6:05Speaker 2: million people. That's what's concerning, because I don't know if
- 6:09Speaker 2: the rest of the people in the United States. I
- 6:13Speaker 2: don't know if we're ready. Like our army certainly is
- 6:15Speaker 2: not forty four million strong.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Sure, but it doesn't need to be though. For one thing,
- 6:20Speaker 1: one drone is good for at least a million of that.
- 6:24Speaker 1: But also, the US military is never going to be
- 6:27Speaker 1: engaged against right wing conspiracy there is. That's not going
- 6:31Speaker 1: to happen. They're in the military also, and.
- 6:34Speaker 2: The police and local government, right.
- 6:37Speaker 1: They're in the police, eral government, right.
- 6:39Speaker 2: But beyond that, they haven't made any inroads into American
- 6:42Speaker 2: life at all.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that they're just a fringe group. They don't have
- 6:46Speaker 1: any power whatsoever.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Fringe wordos.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. You know, I don't love this obviously, I
- 6:56Speaker 1: don't think it's good. I think it's a bad thing.
- 6:59Speaker 1: But also like this is the same I mean again,
- 7:03Speaker 1: these are the same kind of numbers that you'd get
- 7:06Speaker 1: if you would ask like any what like who would
- 7:09Speaker 1: back Trump and like some sort of like coup, you know,
- 7:14Speaker 1: like it's these are the same sort of numbers that
- 7:16Speaker 1: we've gotten. It's a third, roughly a third of the
- 7:20Speaker 1: country basically, you know, even if what we're talking about
- 7:24Speaker 1: here is just Republicans, but like overall, uh, you get
- 7:29Speaker 1: to battle through the country who just doesn't give a
- 7:31Speaker 1: shit about the truth.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that's actually conspiracy news that came out this week
- 7:37Speaker 2: since I had researched this. The leader of the Oathkeepers
- 7:43Speaker 2: I believe his name is Stuart Rhodes h There were
- 7:47Speaker 2: either audio recordings or emails. I think it was audio
- 7:52Speaker 2: recordings that surfaced where he was just kind of imploring
- 7:56Speaker 2: Trump to expose the Satan worshiping Democrat pedophile culture because
- 8:05Speaker 2: then that would help justify what was happening on January sixth.
- 8:09Speaker 2: So if he would just simply lift the veil and
- 8:12Speaker 2: show the American people that a Satanic cabal of child
- 8:17Speaker 2: sex traffickers have been in charge this whole time. That
- 8:20Speaker 2: would fix things. And here's the thing, Yeah, probably would,
- 8:24Speaker 2: which makes it all the more suspicious that that has
- 8:27Speaker 2: never happened, despite so many doomsday prophecy type promises that
- 8:33Speaker 2: that very thing was gonna happen.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel like it was probably a tactical error
- 8:38Speaker 1: to make this plea of Trump, who is definitely involved
- 8:45Speaker 1: in an elite ring of pedophiles. So I feel like
- 8:49Speaker 1: that's just you're barking up the wrong tree, I dare do.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I don't understand that disconnect. I will, like I get
- 9:00Speaker 2: compartmentalized thinking is a thing with people who follow authoritarian types.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Read the book The Authoritarians. There's all kinds of uh
- 9:09Speaker 2: scientific information about it.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but that.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Is such a stretch to be like that guy, the
- 9:17Speaker 2: one guy with video of himself standing next to Jeffrey
- 9:22Speaker 2: Epstein pointing at young girls at a party. Yeah, that's
- 9:27Speaker 2: the guy you think is gonna protect you from the
- 9:29Speaker 2: pedophile cult? What is wrong with you?
- 9:32Speaker 1: They're stupid. Look, I'm such a fucking broken record on
- 9:37Speaker 1: this show, but they're all fucking morons, And that doesn't
- 9:43Speaker 1: The thing is it's not gonna stop them from destroying
- 9:46Speaker 1: the world. It would just be they're gonna do it
- 9:50Speaker 1: in a really stupid fucking way.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Oh so frustrating. Yes, also frustrating. Nine percent of Democrats
- 9:59Speaker 2: surveyed counted themselves why which here's the thing that's not
- 10:06Speaker 2: that far off from the sixteen percent of the population
- 10:10Speaker 2: as a whole. There's a lot of Democrats.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I'm just like, what do you Why are you still
- 10:17Speaker 1: a Democrat? What do you stand to gain from this that?
- 10:21Speaker 2: Like, are those like the mansion democrats, like the Curt
- 10:25Speaker 2: Kirsten cinema democrats.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Oh my god, I guess Like, but I mean, like
- 10:32Speaker 1: seriously though, and like I barely consider myself a Democrat
- 10:38Speaker 1: And I don't I mean, I don't consider you know
- 10:41Speaker 1: you know it.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yeah, But like I just.
- 10:45Speaker 1: That kind of short circuits my brain a little bit
- 10:48Speaker 1: because I don't understand again, what do you What are
- 10:52Speaker 1: you gaining from believing in QAnon? When that's all about you?
- 10:56Speaker 1: It's about you.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Yeah. The other thing that was really interesting is age
- 11:03Speaker 2: and religion both played almost no role in people's thoughts
- 11:08Speaker 2: on this. Also, partisanship and ideology were not the biggest
- 11:13Speaker 2: driving factors Olivia. You're not gonna believe this. It was
- 11:17Speaker 2: media consumption. Oh wow, okay, so yeah, people taking in YouTube,
- 11:24Speaker 2: the YouTube algorithm of course, of course, of course, or
- 11:29Speaker 2: I don't know, I guess can you even blame the
- 11:31Speaker 2: YouTube algorithm anymore?
- 11:33Speaker 1: Like I mean YouTube, between YouTube and podcasts and like
- 11:39Speaker 1: Fox News and you know the other mainstream news networks. No,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I mean, like that's a that's gonna go a long
- 11:47Speaker 1: way towards poisoning your brain. Yeah, it, I don't know,
- 11:51Speaker 1: I guess it almost at this point, like there have
- 11:55Speaker 1: to be people who are still jumping on board the
- 11:58Speaker 1: QAnon train in it.
- 12:00Speaker 2: It feels like, I don't know. There was a point
- 12:02Speaker 2: in my life where I was like mid to late
- 12:04Speaker 2: thirties and I just started smoking again. And I remember
- 12:09Speaker 2: I mentioned that to someone and they were like, well,
- 12:11Speaker 2: that's a very adult decision. It's like you have all
- 12:14Speaker 2: this information about and I hadn't smoked in years. It's
- 12:19Speaker 2: like you know everything about how dangerous smoking is, how
- 12:22Speaker 2: bad it is, and you're just going to do it again.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Like I can get falling for QAnon years ago if
- 12:29Speaker 2: you're stupid and on the internet, sure, yes, But now
- 12:33Speaker 2: we were so far removed from that, and you have
- 12:36Speaker 2: to know the stigma that comes with it. And there's
- 12:39Speaker 2: a reason that stigma exists, and it's because this is
- 12:43Speaker 2: an insane theory. Here's the thing. Sex trafficking is not
- 12:47Speaker 2: an insane theory. Child sex trafficking obviously happens, and I
- 12:51Speaker 2: don't know, I mean, obviously there are people working in
- 12:54Speaker 2: concert to make that happen. But if you specifically think
- 12:59Speaker 2: Donald Trump is fighting a cabal of child sex traffickers
- 13:05Speaker 2: who secretly rule the world, you are being duped.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Yeah, well, but is it just that? Is it still
- 13:13Speaker 1: just that? Now? Well, the child sex trafficking thing, is
- 13:17Speaker 1: that all they're mad about or are like it's never like.
- 13:23Speaker 1: The thing that's always been weird about QAnon is it's
- 13:26Speaker 1: felt like it's kind of a constantly shifting goalposts, what
- 13:31Speaker 1: kind of movement.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I don't say this to defend QAnon by any stretch
- 13:36Speaker 2: of the imagination, but I have mentioned before that I
- 13:39Speaker 2: think QAnon has kind of become like Alex Jones, where
- 13:44Speaker 2: all you really have to do is connect something to
- 13:47Speaker 2: QAnon to make it seem completely ridiculous to people. So
- 13:53Speaker 2: I think sometimes, like we're going to talk about another
- 13:56Speaker 2: story later where a thing gets tied to QAnon and
- 14:00Speaker 2: conspiracy theorist that I don't think it's really justified. Sure,
- 14:05Speaker 2: and it just seems more like an attempt to smear
- 14:08Speaker 2: that thing by saying, well, look, QAnon likes this, right,
- 14:12Speaker 2: And all it takes to do that is for someone
- 14:16Speaker 2: to tweet something about a conspiracy theory, and then you
- 14:19Speaker 2: dig into their social media profile enough and go, oh, well,
- 14:22Speaker 2: they also tweeted a QAnon thing, and now you can,
- 14:26Speaker 2: I guess rightfully put out an article with a headline
- 14:28Speaker 2: that says QAnon supporters question Saudi Arabia's role in nine
- 14:33Speaker 2: to eleven, and it's like the fuck. A lot of
- 14:36Speaker 2: people question that it's not a QAnon thing, but that
- 14:40Speaker 2: is going to make it a QAnon thing and a
- 14:42Speaker 2: lot of people's minds forever and ever and ever. Yeah,
- 14:45Speaker 2: And so I don't know how much of because here's
- 14:48Speaker 2: the thing, I don't follow QAnon, Like I don't. I'm
- 14:51Speaker 2: not like taking in the drops or anything if they're
- 14:55Speaker 2: still happening.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Like that's the other thing about this, like the wh
- 15:00Speaker 1: like q seems to be a non thing anymore. I
- 15:04Speaker 1: feel like, especially after January sixth, most people even in
- 15:09Speaker 1: quanon kind of lost faith in q as an individual,
- 15:13Speaker 1: you know, individual.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think people got a little lazy in
- 15:20Speaker 2: digging into what QAnon really is or was. I think
- 15:24Speaker 2: a lot of people were just really content with figuring out, oh, well,
- 15:28Speaker 2: it was that Jim Watkins guy, right, that's that's the
- 15:31Speaker 2: guy who was doing it, without really diving into the
- 15:34Speaker 2: why because I'm sorry, but oh, he's an Internet troll.
- 15:39Speaker 2: That's a lazy justification for the like QAnon had. That
- 15:45Speaker 2: had to be more than one dude being a troll
- 15:49Speaker 2: on the Internet. Like, look at what it has resulted in.
- 15:53Speaker 2: That feels like a psychological experiment. It feels like CIA shit,
- 15:58Speaker 2: Like it feels like the kind of weird mind fuckery
- 16:01Speaker 2: that this government gets up to. Right, But we were
- 16:05Speaker 2: just like, oh, well it was Jim Watkins and it's
- 16:08Speaker 2: I guess that's all we need to know. Yeah, It's like, yeah,
- 16:10Speaker 2: I feel like we might need to know a little more.
- 16:12Speaker 1: No, I think we definitely need there's a lot more
- 16:15Speaker 1: to know. And I don't think even if it was
- 16:18Speaker 1: quote like all Jim Watkins or whatever, I don't think
- 16:24Speaker 1: that necessarily means that it doesn't merit any further investigation.
- 16:28Speaker 1: But it's kind of just an easy rallying cry, is
- 16:31Speaker 1: what it seemed like more than anything. Like it's a
- 16:34Speaker 1: you know, you can make a logo out of it,
- 16:37Speaker 1: you can you know, have all your catchphrases. It's all
- 16:41Speaker 1: kind of you know, you collect all of these different
- 16:44Speaker 1: types of right wing conspiracies into this que umbrella.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Internet branding, but right for a nefarious conspiracy theory.
- 16:56Speaker 2: It's going to get Democrats murdered on the White House
- 16:59Speaker 2: lawn something.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's kind of like the next level of
- 17:03Speaker 1: the Tea Party basically.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's crazy to say something like QAnon makes
- 17:11Speaker 2: the Tea Party look pretty tame, but they do.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Right, Like, at least the Tea Party was talking about policy.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Right and taxes, even though they were completely oblivious about
- 17:24Speaker 2: how tax has worked. One of my favorite moments from
- 17:28Speaker 2: I don't know, it was probably The Daily Show, but
- 17:31Speaker 2: they were at a tea Party rally and this woman
- 17:35Speaker 2: was on a Rascal scooter protesting free healthcare and the
- 17:39Speaker 2: guy's like, how'd you pay for that scooter? And she
- 17:42Speaker 2: was like medicare. It's like, lady, you're protesting. The thing
- 17:46Speaker 2: got you literally got you to this rally because you
- 17:50Speaker 2: do not walk.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean look and again, you know, documentary Republican
- 17:57Speaker 1: hypocrisy is kind of old this point, but it's definitely
- 18:02Speaker 1: a thing. I feel like maybe there's like a whole
- 18:05Speaker 1: QAnon catchup episode to do, like where we're like, what
- 18:10Speaker 1: is going on with them right now?
- 18:12Speaker 2: Well, you know now that I'm kind of scrolling through
- 18:15Speaker 2: the rest of the stories, every fucking thing on here
- 18:19Speaker 2: is essentially QAnon well related.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Yeah, that's kind of what I'm saying about, like it's
- 18:25Speaker 1: collecting everything on the right.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Well, I think this next story is a good example.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Is this one that should be QAnon related? Sure, which
- 18:34Speaker 2: is the Ukraine bioweapons theory. We never did a full
- 18:39Speaker 2: episode about this because there's this is one of those
- 18:42Speaker 2: things where there's not a ton of reliable information and
- 18:46Speaker 2: you're not gonna find any like right, you will get
- 18:50Speaker 2: US government denials about what's happening, you'll get Ukrainian government
- 18:54Speaker 2: denials about what's happening, and you'll get conspiracy websites that
- 18:59Speaker 2: will tell you other things are happening. But there's not
- 19:03Speaker 2: a lot to it beyond Russia thinks the United States
- 19:07Speaker 2: and Ukraine have a bunch of bioweapons labs scattered around
- 19:12Speaker 2: the country, sure, And the US and Ukraine say no,
- 19:16Speaker 2: they don't. They just have a bunch of labs that
- 19:20Speaker 2: have the things that could be used to make bioweapons,
- 19:23Speaker 2: and of course bioweapons also because we have to study
- 19:26Speaker 2: the bioweapons, right, But we're not making bioweapons. And here's
- 19:31Speaker 2: the thing, I don't know, trust who you want on
- 19:34Speaker 2: this one, right, I'm not just going to take the
- 19:37Speaker 2: government's word for it, right, that we're not doing anything
- 19:41Speaker 2: nefarious here.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Sure.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Also, I don't think this is why Russia invaded Ukraine either.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Well, yeah, that's definitely not why Russia invaded Ukraine. I
- 19:50Speaker 1: don't know whoever's saying that's got a few screws.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Well, that was one of the driving forces behind this theory.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Wasn't just that these existed, but that that's what Putin
- 20:02Speaker 2: was going in to do, was to shut these labs
- 20:04Speaker 2: down and stop them from being used for chemical weapons.
- 20:07Speaker 2: The other thing about it, the reason we never did
- 20:09Speaker 2: an episode about it, is it seemed like it was
- 20:11Speaker 2: hot for about five days, right, and then it just
- 20:15Speaker 2: died down. And I think some of that might have
- 20:18Speaker 2: to do with how quick it got tied to QAnon. Sure,
- 20:23Speaker 2: but I don't know that it's just QAnon that believes
- 20:26Speaker 2: there might be something nefarious happening at these labs.
- 20:31Speaker 1: No, But I think part of the reason why it's
- 20:34Speaker 1: not going to be a very long lasting theory is
- 20:37Speaker 1: that it's being pushed mostly by Russia to begin with,
- 20:43Speaker 1: at a time when they have obviously a motive to
- 20:48Speaker 1: suggest things nefarious things happening between the United States and Ukraine.
- 20:53Speaker 1: But also, like they say in these articles, like the
- 20:58Speaker 1: labs aren't a secret, and so that kind of deflates
- 21:03Speaker 1: the conspiracy balloon.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I guess, yeah, I mean it does to some extent.
- 21:08Speaker 1: But also like, these aren't the only labs of this
- 21:12Speaker 1: nature that we have. I'm sure we have these all
- 21:15Speaker 1: over the world. I know for a fact we have
- 21:17Speaker 1: these in other countries. And I know for a fact
- 21:19Speaker 1: we have at least a couple in America because we
- 21:22Speaker 1: fucking talked about them on the show, because Jess e
- 21:26Speaker 1: Venturer rated them, we like made him tell of the truth.
- 21:31Speaker 1: So you know, I don't know, it doesn't necessarily flip
- 21:36Speaker 1: any like suspicion for me that I haven't heard of
- 21:40Speaker 1: this in the past, because you know, this is just
- 21:43Speaker 1: kind of not the sort of thing that is talked
- 21:45Speaker 1: about a ton. Yeah, unless there's like an ulterior motive
- 21:50Speaker 1: to someone bringing it up.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yes, And it's complicated because I have no doubt that
- 21:56Speaker 2: the American government does work on bioweapons, absolutely absolutely. Suggestions
- 22:02Speaker 2: that governments have used chemical weapons get thrown around all
- 22:06Speaker 2: the time, and you don't hear it as much about
- 22:09Speaker 2: the United States, but it's like, if you dig into
- 22:12Speaker 2: the Korean War, there are suggestions that we literally drop
- 22:16Speaker 2: bombs that just had ticks in them that spread disease.
- 22:21Speaker 2: So I don't know. This one's tricky. It's one of
- 22:24Speaker 2: those things that seems like it would make for a
- 22:26Speaker 2: perfect episode of this podcast. But there's really only like
- 22:28Speaker 2: five things you can say about it, right. You can
- 22:31Speaker 2: say what Rasha believes, you can say what the United
- 22:34Speaker 2: States response is, right, and you can acknowledge that no
- 22:40Speaker 2: one really knows, like, like, I am sure the United
- 22:44Speaker 2: States fucks with biological weapons somewhere if they do it
- 22:48Speaker 2: at these labs, but Ukraine, it's not the fucking hill
- 22:52Speaker 2: I'm going to die on. And it turned out to
- 22:55Speaker 2: be not much of a story again.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Again, Yeah, not only did it not turn out to
- 22:58Speaker 1: be much of a story, but like, why did Russia?
- 23:01Speaker 1: If Russia was so concerned about these labs, then you know,
- 23:05Speaker 1: it feels like that's something that maybe could have come
- 23:07Speaker 1: up before invading a country.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Correct, So maybe it did.
- 23:12Speaker 1: And I just didn't year about it. You know, this
- 23:14Speaker 1: is the whole problem.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Yeah, So, speaking of things getting tied to QAnon, sure
- 23:24Speaker 2: that seem like maybe they shouldn't. How are we feeling
- 23:27Speaker 2: about Duck Duck.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Go, you know, having only just found out about it
- 23:33Speaker 1: from you know, reading these articles in the notes, I
- 23:37Speaker 1: don't really have much of an opinion about it one
- 23:40Speaker 1: way or the other.
- 23:42Speaker 2: I don't, and I really didn't before I was researching
- 23:47Speaker 2: this episode. Yeah, but then I came across a February
- 23:52Speaker 2: twenty twenty two article on the New York Times. Let
- 23:55Speaker 2: me get the exact headline. Fed up with Google, conspiracy
- 24:00Speaker 2: theorist turned to duck Duck Go, And it's exactly what
- 24:06Speaker 2: it sounds like. It's an article about how people who
- 24:09Speaker 2: believe conspiracy theories are using a new search engine called
- 24:13Speaker 2: duck Duck Go. And the whole article is about how
- 24:20Speaker 2: this search engine shows search results that Google seems to suppress,
- 24:26Speaker 2: which that is a thing that I feel like it
- 24:30Speaker 2: gets suggested that, oh, well, Google suppresses right wing viewpoints,
- 24:36Speaker 2: and it gets suggested as if it's not true. Sure,
- 24:40Speaker 2: and it's true, like we did the plandemic episode or
- 24:44Speaker 2: I did a solo episode about the plandemic document documentary,
- 24:48Speaker 2: fucking air quotes around that. Yeah, and here's my problem
- 24:52Speaker 2: with Google. I searched plandemic documentary and I must have
- 24:57Speaker 2: clicked seven or eight paid that were nothing but results
- 25:03Speaker 2: about debunking the plandemic documentary. Sure, I only found a
- 25:09Speaker 2: link to the plandemic documentary in one spot, and that
- 25:13Speaker 2: was in a paid advertisement at the top of every page.
- 25:17Speaker 2: So Google will let you pay to put a link
- 25:21Speaker 2: to plandemic on the top of that page. But somehow
- 25:26Speaker 2: the act like think of how many searches that documentary
- 25:29Speaker 2: had to be getting, Like, there's no way at least
- 25:33Speaker 2: one official source wouldn't end up in the top if
- 25:37Speaker 2: that algorithm's not being tweaked in some way. And I like,
- 25:41Speaker 2: I'm not here to fucking debate whether that's the right
- 25:45Speaker 2: thing or the wrong thing, But it fucking happens like.
- 25:48Speaker 1: That, absolutely, And I don't think Google would even deny that. Really,
- 25:55Speaker 1: I think they are very clear that they curate, you know,
- 25:58Speaker 1: their search results. It's part of their well the thing
- 26:02Speaker 1: that's why you get like six ads that aren't even
- 26:05Speaker 1: related to your search when you search for something. But
- 26:10Speaker 1: also I would love to the thing that doesn't ever
- 26:13Speaker 1: get discussed or seemingly even research to the same extent.
- 26:19Speaker 1: It seems like it seems like there's a ton of
- 26:22Speaker 1: resources put into discovering whether or not these poor, racist
- 26:27Speaker 1: and lying conservative views are being suppressed, and whether they're
- 26:32Speaker 1: also suppressing left wing views.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Oh, of course they are.
- 26:37Speaker 1: I know, I know they are. But the thing is,
- 26:39Speaker 1: you never see the articles about that. You don't see
- 26:42Speaker 1: articles about and you don't see the fucking studies of
- 26:46Speaker 1: like look at how Google is suppressing right wing views.
- 26:49Speaker 1: You don't get that for you know, things that aren't
- 26:52Speaker 1: racist and evil.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Yeah. I think the left has probably just come to
- 26:58Speaker 2: accept it.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, Like.
- 27:01Speaker 2: I think the left is genuinely even though you hear
- 27:05Speaker 2: the enemy of the people stuff from the right most prominently,
- 27:10Speaker 2: I think the left is a little more accepting of
- 27:13Speaker 2: the idea that the media is not necessarily on any side.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Yeah, Like to some extent, like yes, and definitely Stew's
- 27:25Speaker 1: anti progressive, yeah, and like accepting of that, yes, but
- 27:30Speaker 1: also I don't know, I guess yeah, I guess accepting
- 27:33Speaker 1: is the right is the right way to put it.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Yeah. But my issue with this article is if you
- 27:39Speaker 2: look into duck duck Go, it's not like their business
- 27:43Speaker 2: model is, hey, come find links to plandemic on search engine,
- 27:49Speaker 2: which is legitimately the business model of a lot of
- 27:52Speaker 2: companies that have popped up since then. There's even a
- 27:55Speaker 2: profile of the founder of this search engine on the
- 27:59Speaker 2: New York Times from twenty nineteen, so it's plenty of
- 28:02Speaker 2: time for him to get in this profile and be like, well,
- 28:07Speaker 2: here's the thing. A Satan worshiping cabal of liberals is
- 28:13Speaker 2: trafficking children around the globe for sex and to harvest
- 28:18Speaker 2: adrina chrome. And so we founded duck duck Go, Like
- 28:22Speaker 2: he's just like, listen, Google's privacy is shit, Like they
- 28:26Speaker 2: follow you everywhere on the internet, absolutely, and we're just
- 28:31Speaker 2: trying to be an alternative to that. And they have
- 28:35Speaker 2: like a very small portion of the search engine market.
- 28:40Speaker 2: It's a very small company. And it just feels weird
- 28:43Speaker 2: that the New York Times is tying them specifically to
- 28:48Speaker 2: conspiracy theorists when that's not like it feels a little
- 28:52Speaker 2: character assassination, ye to me? Not saying that the people
- 28:56Speaker 2: behind The New York Times might have business interests that
- 29:00Speaker 2: extend to shutting down a search engine that stands a
- 29:05Speaker 2: chance of taking a decent share of the market if
- 29:08Speaker 2: privacy concerns really become a thing at some point, Absolutely not.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I am curious about what prompted this piece. I
- 29:16Speaker 1: would like to know. That's something I would be interested
- 29:19Speaker 1: to learn too. What is the thing like, did Stuart
- 29:23Speaker 1: Thompson just like see duck duck go on like Twitter
- 29:28Speaker 1: or something and decide to write about it?
- 29:30Speaker 2: I should also point out not the Stuart Thompson that
- 29:33Speaker 2: has been on this podcast a few times. Different Stuart Thompson,
- 29:36Speaker 2: Different Stuart.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Maybe Are you sure?
- 29:39Speaker 2: I look? Yeah, I look it up just to make
- 29:41Speaker 2: sure good, Because Yeah, I'm just curious because it's interesting
- 29:45Speaker 2: because I've never heard of Duck Duck go.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I would I would never have heard of it if
- 29:51Speaker 1: it weren't for this piece. And I agree about you know,
- 29:55Speaker 1: the Google thing, and I think it's funny because there's
- 29:58Speaker 1: no fucking way that it's ever going to take any
- 30:02Speaker 1: noticeable chunk out of Google's marketplace, even if privacy becomes
- 30:07Speaker 1: a huge concern, which it's not going to be in
- 30:11Speaker 1: the same way that you was.
- 30:13Speaker 2: No, you know ever a cameras and our refrigerators now.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Right, But it's just I don't it's just very funny
- 30:19Speaker 1: like that this would now come up because yeah, like
- 30:23Speaker 1: you're not getting I mean, I assume that Yahoo still exists.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I assume that like fucking ask Jeeves and shit still exists.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Like it can't be the only alternative search engine.
- 30:34Speaker 1: No, absolutely, And like you said, there are so many
- 30:39Speaker 1: right wing internet alternatives that are so annoying in their
- 30:45Speaker 1: branding where they're just like where the truth outlet, We're
- 30:49Speaker 1: the only place where truth is told and so like
- 30:53Speaker 1: that could very easily be how they market this thing.
- 30:56Speaker 1: But it seems like it's just like, hey, if you
- 31:00Speaker 1: want a search and not have Google liked somehow know
- 31:04Speaker 1: like what your fucking shoe size is from your search,
- 31:08Speaker 1: then you know us duck dug go.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Yeah. I would also be interested to know the motives
- 31:14Speaker 2: behind this article because it's one of those things that,
- 31:18Speaker 2: no matter how you spin it, this article is kind
- 31:21Speaker 2: of irresponsible. They referenced Joe Rogan in the article. I
- 31:26Speaker 2: will call back to the ivermectin thing, when you saw
- 31:31Speaker 2: all these articles that were like, well, Joe Rogan's taking
- 31:33Speaker 2: a horse d wormer and no he wasn't. And the
- 31:37Speaker 2: reason it's important to point out that he wasn't is
- 31:40Speaker 2: because whatever drugs he took, he was fine.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:44Speaker 2: So by going in front of the world and saying
- 31:48Speaker 2: Joe Rogan's taking horse drugs, that's going to make the
- 31:51Speaker 2: people who followed Joe Rogan go, oh, well he took
- 31:54Speaker 2: him and he's fine, So I can take horse drugs
- 31:56Speaker 2: and I'm.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I guess it's fine.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Yeah, horribly irresponse. Reporting that everyone was completely aokay with
- 32:04Speaker 2: this isn't as big of a scale as that, But
- 32:07Speaker 2: this is also there's no way this doesn't backfire because
- 32:11Speaker 2: if you're someone who is so Internet stupid that you're like, oh,
- 32:16Speaker 2: I can't find any information because Google won't give it
- 32:20Speaker 2: to me, here comes the New York Times going, well,
- 32:23Speaker 2: here's your alternative. What you want to do is check
- 32:25Speaker 2: out Duck Duck Go and you're like, holy shit, yeah,
- 32:28Speaker 2: how did I not know about this? And it's because
- 32:30Speaker 2: you don't know how to use Google, and you're probably
- 32:33Speaker 2: going to fuck up Duck Duck go too. But at
- 32:36Speaker 2: least The New York Times has told you where to
- 32:37Speaker 2: go now.
- 32:38Speaker 1: But also, there's no way that this hypothetical person that
- 32:41Speaker 1: we've invented is going to pay to read an article
- 32:45Speaker 1: on the New York Times.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Oh is this a paywall thing?
- 32:48Speaker 1: I mean aren't all of their articles paywalled after a
- 32:50Speaker 1: certain number like per month? Oh?
- 32:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so, But I mean there's there's ways
- 32:56Speaker 2: to get around that. But also if you can't but
- 32:58Speaker 2: I mean, if you can't find plandemic Google, you can't
- 33:01Speaker 2: get around again the New York Times paywall.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Yeah, we've constructed a like Chauncey Gardner esque, like imbecile
- 33:08Speaker 1: who can't use Google. So so yeah, I don't know.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I'll link to the article people at home read it,
- 33:15Speaker 2: sound off in the comments or on Twitter or somewhere.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Let me know. Am I crazy? This just felt like
- 33:21Speaker 2: The New York Times kind of had it out for
- 33:24Speaker 2: ductor Go and wanted to slander them a little bit. Hey,
- 33:28Speaker 2: speaking of q Andon.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Again, Oh my god, we.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Never had a chance to talk about the National Butterfly
- 33:37Speaker 2: Center sex trafficking hoax.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Oh and how could we have how could we have
- 33:42Speaker 1: missed this?
- 33:43Speaker 2: I mean, of everything on the list today, this is
- 33:46Speaker 2: the one that probably could have been a right. It
- 33:48Speaker 2: is a wild story, and it's just another reminder that
- 33:54Speaker 2: something else QAnon type should take into account, because I
- 33:58Speaker 2: know some of you are still listening, Just a reminder.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Accusing people of pedophilia is just a timeless classic when
- 34:05Speaker 2: it comes to dirty tricks people pull on their political rivals. Yep,
- 34:10Speaker 2: and you see it happen in this story, the National
- 34:14Speaker 2: Butterfly Center sex trafficking scandal. This is a butterfly sanctuary
- 34:18Speaker 2: in South Texas and it's been in operation for about
- 34:22Speaker 2: twenty years on the border or close to the border
- 34:26Speaker 2: with Mexico. At one point, the Trump administration was trying
- 34:31Speaker 2: to build a wall. I don't know if you remember this,
- 34:33Speaker 2: but trying to build wall between the United States and Mexico.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Was it going to be like big and beautiful and
- 34:42Speaker 1: I think the.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Most beautiful wall anyone I had ever seen.
- 34:46Speaker 1: It was going to be beautiful. I remember that it's
- 34:49Speaker 1: going to be beautiful, but that it's also going to
- 34:53Speaker 1: be invisible. Those are the two things that I remember
- 34:56Speaker 1: the most.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Well, it's also going to be impossible, oh to get
- 35:00Speaker 2: over or oh across any of these things.
- 35:04Speaker 1: And I thought you were just going to say it's
- 35:06Speaker 1: also going to be impossible, as in, it's never going
- 35:10Speaker 1: to happen, it's never ever ever going to exist.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Well, there is that.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Also, it just isn't.
- 35:19Speaker 2: And part of the reason is because of no good
- 35:22Speaker 2: piece nicks like the National Butterfly Center, damn it. Because
- 35:26Speaker 2: when Trump wanted to build his wall, they were concerned
- 35:30Speaker 2: that the wall was going to cut right through their
- 35:33Speaker 2: property and forced them to shut down. So they filed
- 35:38Speaker 2: a lawsuit, and the lawsuit is still in court that
- 35:42Speaker 2: hasn't even been settled yet. But in the meantime, a
- 35:46Speaker 2: guy named Brian Colfage, a Trump supporter who runs an
- 35:49Speaker 2: organization called We Build the Wall, which, by the way,
- 35:54Speaker 2: turns out no, they don't. He actually got in legal
- 35:58Speaker 2: trouble of some sort for using his foundation's funds for
- 36:02Speaker 2: his own personal sure fences, So they build the wall
- 36:06Speaker 2: around him and his debt collectors basically.
- 36:10Speaker 1: And even if it were successful, I feel like it's
- 36:13Speaker 1: we hire contractors to build the wall.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Oh for sure.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I feel like we build the wall is always going
- 36:18Speaker 1: to be a stretch, and he.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Decided to get some revenge against the National Butterfly Center
- 36:25Speaker 2: for not wanting the wall to be built on their property,
- 36:27Speaker 2: and he did that by accusing Marianna Trevino Wright, the
- 36:33Speaker 2: executive director of the sanctuary. He accused her and her
- 36:37Speaker 2: organization of being involved in child sex trafficking. And the
- 36:42Speaker 2: problem with QAnon adherents is this is all it takes
- 36:47Speaker 2: for them to feel like they have fulfilled that do
- 36:50Speaker 2: your own research require. Yeay, just needs someone who they
- 36:56Speaker 2: believe without question to tweet something and then they have
- 37:01Speaker 2: done their own research. Yeah. It's the most i mean
- 37:04Speaker 2: not the most maddening thing about QAnon, But that part
- 37:08Speaker 2: right at the beginning where they're like, all right, well,
- 37:10Speaker 2: here are these specific Twitter accounts to follow. You should
- 37:13Speaker 2: know something's up.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Yep.
- 37:15Speaker 2: But that's all it takes with this crowd, and it
- 37:20Speaker 2: wrecked this woman's life. And now this Butterfly Sanctuary has
- 37:24Speaker 2: to shut down because from this point on she has
- 37:28Speaker 2: just gotten constant threats and harassment about her facility being
- 37:34Speaker 2: involved in child sex trafficking. And it's just because this
- 37:37Speaker 2: asshole was mad that she didn't want a wall built
- 37:40Speaker 2: through her facility. It's so crazy.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Yeah, what an asshole? What an asshole? Okay, first asshole.
- 37:48Speaker 1: First asshole is the asshole who decided to try to
- 37:52Speaker 1: build a fucking wall through this goddamn butterfly preserve. It's
- 37:57Speaker 1: a butterfly preserve. It's beautiful.
- 38:00Speaker 2: You can't just like put it around the front, go
- 38:03Speaker 2: around it.
- 38:04Speaker 1: It's not like it's on the goddamn border, is it
- 38:07Speaker 1: like it's surely like it's got a little bit of space.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's got to.
- 38:12Speaker 1: It's. Second asshole, this fucking Brian guy. Uh, fuck this guy.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Fucking fuck him? What a what a dick? Like just
- 38:22Speaker 1: for no reason, just out of spite. This is why
- 38:24Speaker 1: people got pissed off about the whole Elon Musk accusing
- 38:29Speaker 1: that like tunnel guy of like pedophilia, because it ruins
- 38:34Speaker 1: people's lives. Like it's fucking ridiculous. You don't just go
- 38:38Speaker 1: around throwing these accusations around, and you know, man, it
- 38:43Speaker 1: just pisses me off, Like these these butterflies didn't do
- 38:46Speaker 1: fucking anything. This lady all she wanted to do was
- 38:50Speaker 1: have this damn building with her fucking butterflies. This makes
- 38:54Speaker 1: me so mad.
- 38:55Speaker 2: It's just a building full of butterflies.
- 38:57Speaker 1: She's good, beautiful. I'm sure it's beaudif full, gorgeous building
- 39:01Speaker 1: full of butterflies. Just a garden, the garden of Eden,
- 39:05Speaker 1: full of butterflies. And now what are the butterflies gonna do?
- 39:09Speaker 1: Where are the butterflies gonna No one ever thought about that. No,
- 39:12Speaker 1: you're so fucking worried about the made up kids who
- 39:15Speaker 1: are getting sex traffic. I'm so mad about this, these
- 39:19Speaker 1: poor butterflies. I hope the butterflies found homes.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Hashtag save the butterflies.
- 39:24Speaker 1: But like, do we know if the butterflies found homes.
- 39:28Speaker 2: They they haven't completely shut down yet, so I don't
- 39:33Speaker 2: think they did temporarily shut down. I'm sure they did.
- 39:36Speaker 2: I'm like, they're not just going to like open the
- 39:37Speaker 2: windows and be like go.
- 39:40Speaker 1: On without us. Oh I like that idea, though.
- 39:45Speaker 2: If they did, I'd be like, shit, maybe they were
- 39:47Speaker 2: trafficking kids.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Let all the go. That would be fun.
- 39:54Speaker 2: The jig's up. Fucking cage just collapse. I don't know
- 39:59Speaker 2: why I think they're in cage.
- 40:02Speaker 1: No, they're not cageous butterfly cages. God, yeah, tiny little
- 40:07Speaker 1: butterfly jails.
- 40:09Speaker 2: For shampoo in their eyes to test it all on. No,
- 40:14Speaker 2: did you know butterflies can scream? Oh they can't, but
- 40:17Speaker 2: rabbits can.
- 40:19Speaker 1: No, they can, that's true. Rabbits can't scream things.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Things got so bad at this place, which, speaking of QAnon,
- 40:27Speaker 2: just kind of ascending to every level of American life.
- 40:30Speaker 2: At one point, a congressional candidate from Virginia showed up
- 40:34Speaker 2: at this place and demanded this is a quote, access
- 40:38Speaker 2: to the river to see all the illegals crossing on
- 40:41Speaker 2: the raft, so not just sex trafficking, but also human trafficking,
- 40:46Speaker 2: because they're this is probably where all of the illegals
- 40:50Speaker 2: who voted in the twenty twenty election. I'm assuming they
- 40:54Speaker 2: just came in through the butterfly.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Right, and then they rode to all the other states
- 40:59Speaker 1: on butterfly.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Democrats and their magic butterflies stole the election.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Look, hey, if that's where right wing conspiracy started going,
- 41:12Speaker 1: if it's like magic butterflies and shit, like, I'd be like, okay, fine,
- 41:16Speaker 1: I can deal with this.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Yeah I'm in.
- 41:20Speaker 1: But again, this congressional candidate from Virginia showing up to
- 41:26Speaker 1: this place in Texas, come on, this is again another
- 41:30Speaker 1: thing I've harped on so much in the last especially
- 41:33Speaker 1: in the last few months, just a terminal online. All
- 41:37Speaker 1: of our politicians, especially on the right, are just terminally online.
- 41:43Speaker 1: They just get all of their information off of Twitter
- 41:46Speaker 1: and it leads to shit like this.
- 41:50Speaker 2: And I guarantee this congressional candidate showing up at this
- 41:54Speaker 2: place was some sort of online stunt.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Too, like a bit oh absolutely live.
- 41:59Speaker 2: On Instagram or something.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Do we know who it was?
- 42:03Speaker 2: Uh? Says here it was Tyrrell Ventura. No, just joking,
- 42:10Speaker 2: very funny, Tyrell is conducting a raid on the National
- 42:17Speaker 2: Butterfly Center.
- 42:19Speaker 1: No, it turns out it was Sean Stone.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh man. So yeah, they they decided, Oh they
- 42:28Speaker 2: closed down indefinitely in February. So they they are closed down.
- 42:32Speaker 2: No word on where the butterflies went.
- 42:34Speaker 1: That sucks. That's that story is such a huge bummer.
- 42:38Speaker 2: It does suck, Yeah, because it I don't like it.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Seems like QAnon types do realize what kind of fire
- 42:46Speaker 2: they're playing with, but also don't like. This seems like
- 42:50Speaker 2: a thing that for a lot of people, it's gonna
- 42:52Speaker 2: seem kind of cute and it's gonna seem like, well,
- 42:55Speaker 2: that's my online identity is I'm QAnon, And then it's
- 42:58Speaker 2: gonna feel a whole lot different when mother fuckers are
- 43:00Speaker 2: literally getting murdered on the White House dawn and you're like, oh,
- 43:05Speaker 2: I was a part of that. Huh.
- 43:06Speaker 1: People are already getting killed for this shit, you know.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but not like but not like the big public spectacle.
- 43:14Speaker 1: No, but I mean, but yeah, no, it's it's it's ridiculous,
- 43:18Speaker 1: And yeah, this is just you know, online harassment is
- 43:21Speaker 1: almost never just online. It almost never just affects people online.
- 43:27Speaker 2: So yeah, hey, speaking of things that are finally online, Finally,
- 43:33Speaker 2: Barack Obama's presidential records now available for your Freedom of
- 43:39Speaker 2: Information Act request needs. Finally. Apparently this works like getting
- 43:44Speaker 2: inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame, where you have
- 43:48Speaker 2: to be retired for five years, okay, and then the
- 43:52Speaker 2: government just throws all your files out the window and
- 43:54Speaker 2: people with for him to fall to the ground and
- 43:56Speaker 2: gather them up. Five years to the day after Obama
- 44:00Speaker 2: leaves office, his records finally available for Freedom of Information
- 44:04Speaker 2: Act requests. USA Today looked at some of the requests
- 44:07Speaker 2: that have been filed so far for starters. Their investigation
- 44:12Speaker 2: confirms all my worst fears about the Freedom of Information
- 44:15Speaker 2: Act requests because they are the Freedom of Information Act
- 44:19Speaker 2: in general. Because apparently they got this docket of just
- 44:24Speaker 2: the complete names and like all the information about all
- 44:27Speaker 2: the people requesting this stuff. They got enough information to
- 44:31Speaker 2: know even in cases where people were using fake names, right,
- 44:35Speaker 2: which that part gives me some hope if I can
- 44:38Speaker 2: just go on there and be like, my name is
- 44:40Speaker 2: Stu Pittass, and I want to know about Jonestown, Like
- 44:46Speaker 2: if will they still send it to me? Like will
- 44:48Speaker 2: they just have a guy like drop it at an
- 44:50Speaker 2: Amazon locker and then I can show up with facial
- 44:53Speaker 2: recognition defeating tech on my face and pick it up.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Because if so, I'm into some cloaking down or shit
- 45:00Speaker 2: like that. But I don't so much want to be
- 45:02Speaker 2: like Adam Todd Brown. Here's my mother's maiden name, here's
- 45:06Speaker 2: my social Security number, and now tell me about Jonestown.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Yeah. No, I'm not gonna do any of that. I'm
- 45:14Speaker 1: not gonna I'm not gonna be putting it. In the end,
- 45:17Speaker 1: there's nothing about Obama's administration that I want to know
- 45:21Speaker 1: enough to go through all that is the thing.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like with Obama, I kind of already know.
- 45:27Speaker 2: And that's not like, that's not me implying like Obama
- 45:31Speaker 2: did nothing wrong, but like Obama's failings were pretty obvious,
- 45:36Speaker 2: like he's drone striking American citizens. He didn't shut down
- 45:39Speaker 2: guantanam obey. They talk about some of the requests people made,
- 45:43Speaker 2: and we'll talk about some of the crazier ones in
- 45:45Speaker 2: a minute, But the only one I sort of agree with,
- 45:49Speaker 2: I feel like I would word it a little more
- 45:51Speaker 2: eloquently because the person who submitted it just wrote, why
- 45:54Speaker 2: was Ben Lauden's body being thrown into the sea that fast? Which?
- 45:59Speaker 2: How adoorble is that?
- 46:01Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 46:01Speaker 2: Very that person was either twelve or fifty eight. Yeah,
- 46:05Speaker 2: and I'm going to guess the letter. Yeah, but if
- 46:08Speaker 2: there was one thing I would want more info about,
- 46:13Speaker 2: I think it would be the death of Ben Laden.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Sure me crazy, but I don't know that the US
- 46:19Speaker 2: was completely on the up and up about how why
- 46:22Speaker 2: that happened. But I mean maybe maybe, yeah, even the
- 46:26Speaker 2: blind squirrel finds a nuts sometimes maybe we're told the
- 46:29Speaker 2: complete and total truth.
- 46:31Speaker 1: You should you should you should turn in a FOIA
- 46:34Speaker 1: request for that, and then revel in your collection of
- 46:39Speaker 1: the largest stack of black ink papers exactly in the
- 46:44Speaker 1: history of mankind. Uh.
- 46:46Speaker 2: That's all the Freedom of Information Act means is you
- 46:50Speaker 2: can ask, Yeah, but they're gonna give you some pushback.
- 46:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna ask for his damn birth certificate.
- 46:57Speaker 1: That's what I'm gonna ask for.
- 46:59Speaker 2: That's what a lot of the requests where, of course
- 47:02Speaker 2: they are, if I can believe it, not only his
- 47:07Speaker 2: birth records. One request asked for a copy of his DNA,
- 47:12Speaker 2: probably to determine if he's Halfiz, you know, half Blizzard
- 47:16Speaker 2: obviously Liz, for sure. It saves me time, right, I
- 47:20Speaker 2: assume that's what that was about.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Absolutely. I'm sure that the White House, you know, responded
- 47:27Speaker 1: to that quickly and definitely they got that DNA. I'm
- 47:32Speaker 1: sure that's very easy to come by, the President's DNA.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Yeah, they sent him video ahead of time with them
- 47:38Speaker 2: swabbing Obama's cheeks and sums up. They also people had
- 47:44Speaker 2: questions about a rumored sixty five thousand dollars White House
- 47:48Speaker 2: hot dog and pizza party. Guess what this is about, hm?
- 47:54Speaker 1: Would it have anything to do with the pinball place nearby?
- 47:57Speaker 2: It has a little bit to do with comet ping pong, pizza,
- 48:03Speaker 2: Ping pong, and Pizzagate in that this that one goes
- 48:09Speaker 2: like us A today just barely touches on what this is.
- 48:13Speaker 2: They just say it's a party that is rumored to
- 48:17Speaker 2: have happened or not have happened. But if you dig
- 48:20Speaker 2: into it, it's a big QAnon. Yeah, pizzagate scandal where
- 48:26Speaker 2: there's a whole email thread where.
- 48:28Speaker 1: That's the namesake of Pizzagate comes from that party and
- 48:34Speaker 1: the emails about it.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Right, I thought Pizzagate came from the John Podesta emails.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, yes, I think it did. I get
- 48:44Speaker 1: both of those, you know, I conflate them.
- 48:47Speaker 2: And here's the thing, I wouldn't be surprised if John
- 48:50Speaker 2: Podesta's a pedophile.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Maybe, but I don't know.
- 48:54Speaker 2: That doesn't mean we don't have to get into it.
- 48:58Speaker 1: We'll have. Yeah, Pizzagate is the pizza Gate just because
- 49:04Speaker 1: just because there's a massive group of pedophiles among the
- 49:07Speaker 1: elites in the world doesn't mean that Pizzagate is true.
- 49:10Speaker 1: That's the problem. That's the whole problem with Pizzagate is
- 49:14Speaker 1: that there was a ring of pedophiles among the elites
- 49:17Speaker 1: in our society. It was called Jeffrey Epstein's airplane and
- 49:22Speaker 1: probably a bunch of other bullshit that we don't know about.
- 49:26Speaker 1: But it's not taking place in a goddamn Ping Pong
- 49:29Speaker 1: and pizza parlor. They don't need to go to that place.
- 49:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I wonder if the pizza's good.
- 49:35Speaker 1: No, there's no way.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Really, do you think the pizza sucks? Not?
- 49:39Speaker 1: If they're listing Ping Pong first, what's I don't think
- 49:43Speaker 1: the pizza is gonna be good.
- 49:44Speaker 2: I suppose that's true. What's Comet is listed first?
- 49:48Speaker 1: But isn't it Commet Ping Pong and Pizza?
- 49:50Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 49:51Speaker 1: So I'm sorry.
- 49:54Speaker 2: I'm just trying to cut them some slack.
- 49:56Speaker 1: No, I don't.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Do you think this hurt their business? I I bet
- 50:00Speaker 2: it did not. No, I bet it didn't. I bet
- 50:03Speaker 2: it did. Like I know a guy who just played
- 50:05Speaker 2: a show at Commet Ping Pong Pizza?
- 50:07Speaker 1: Do you really did you comedy? Well?
- 50:10Speaker 2: No, it was a band who Wow's playing a show
- 50:14Speaker 2: at Comet Ping Pong Pizza?
- 50:16Speaker 1: Did you go down into the basement? It doesn't exist,
- 50:21Speaker 1: the non existed basement. That's my favorite.
- 50:24Speaker 2: If I can have a favorite detail about a guy
- 50:26Speaker 2: showing up at a pizza place with a gun, is
- 50:28Speaker 2: that he showed up and was like, show me the
- 50:31Speaker 2: torture basement, and they're like, dude, we don't have any basement.
- 50:34Speaker 2: We don't have much. And he was like, oh, okay,
- 50:37Speaker 2: here's my gun. You want to call the police? Yeah,
- 50:40Speaker 2: I remember that was I guess I've made a huge,
- 50:43Speaker 2: huge mistake. Whoopsie, Can I get a slice before him?
- 50:47Speaker 1: Yeah? That's the thing, Like, I don't know if I
- 50:51Speaker 1: would ever want to just casually go eat at a
- 50:54Speaker 1: pizza place that I know has a much higher than
- 50:59Speaker 1: the national average likelihood of having a active shooter within it.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Right, it has to be like percentage wise the highest
- 51:12Speaker 1: likelihood pizza place to have a shooting.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Yeah. But I also went and saw Joker like first,
- 51:18Speaker 2: showing like first possible opportunity.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Joker was never dangerous. That movie was never That movie
- 51:26Speaker 1: didn't have enough intellectual fucking like rigor to cause anybody
- 51:32Speaker 1: to lose their mind and kill any kill people. It
- 51:37Speaker 1: was a terrible movie.
- 51:38Speaker 2: It's very bad.
- 51:40Speaker 1: One Academy Award.
- 51:42Speaker 2: The fact that they they thought they were really getting
- 51:45Speaker 2: a twist by us with that fake Zazzi beats relationship.
- 51:49Speaker 2: Oh my cleating this woman. This is obviously happening in
- 51:54Speaker 2: his head. And yet my god, Okay.
- 51:59Speaker 1: But can I since since you've you've now opened the
- 52:04Speaker 1: Joker floodgates that I haven't thought about since that movie
- 52:07Speaker 1: came out.
- 52:08Speaker 2: This is what's gonna get people to stop listening to it.
- 52:11Speaker 2: We can talk shit about Quewanon all we want, but
- 52:14Speaker 2: now we're going down.
- 52:15Speaker 1: This path talking shit about Joker.
- 52:17Speaker 2: Talking about jokers gonna do us.
- 52:20Speaker 1: That fucking garbage scene where he, like the two people
- 52:26Speaker 1: from the clown School come to his apartment and he
- 52:29Speaker 1: kills them and one of them is the little person,
- 52:33Speaker 1: and there's like a five minute fucking escapade where the
- 52:36Speaker 1: little person can't open the door to get out of
- 52:40Speaker 1: the apartment to get so he doesn't get killed because
- 52:42Speaker 1: he's too little, And that's the entire fucking joke of
- 52:46Speaker 1: the fucking scene is garbage. That's garbage. It's trash. I
- 52:52Speaker 1: hate that movie so much.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I did love the scene where he drops
- 52:57Speaker 2: the gun in the children.
- 52:58Speaker 1: That's the funniest that is in the hospital.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, that funniest moment in that whole movie.
- 53:04Speaker 1: Funniest moment, best moment. Also, like just did general Yeah
- 53:09Speaker 1: that was good. Everything else sucked.
- 53:11Speaker 2: Yeah. I got about halfway through that and was like, man,
- 53:13Speaker 2: if I get shot for this, ah.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Yeah, no, imagine.
- 53:17Speaker 2: I didn't watch it in theaters, so pissed. All right,
- 53:20Speaker 2: let's talk about this one last story, which is kind
- 53:23Speaker 2: of more just a plug for our next episode.
- 53:25Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 53:26Speaker 2: No, well, I mean it's time to get excited. Whenever
- 53:30Speaker 2: one of the greats makes a new film, then it's
- 53:34Speaker 2: it's our job to respond. And Denesh Desuza has a
- 53:38Speaker 2: new film coming out because here's the thing. Apparently there's
- 53:42Speaker 2: another twenty twenty election conspiracy.
- 53:45Speaker 1: Oh good.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Oh.
- 53:46Speaker 1: I was worried that we were out of them.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, no way, No, I mean we have
- 53:53Speaker 2: another election to plan for in twenty twenty four, so
- 53:56Speaker 2: we've got to practice all the all the ways to
- 53:59Speaker 2: steal it now. So Adam steal it Adam twenty twenty four.
- 54:03Speaker 1: Yeah, Adam, I have not.
- 54:04Speaker 2: I have.
- 54:05Speaker 1: I have not watched this Adnech Desuza movie.
- 54:08Speaker 2: Neither of I. I don't know if I've ever even
- 54:11Speaker 2: heard the man speak.
- 54:12Speaker 1: I've heard him speak. He sounds like a moron. We're
- 54:16Speaker 1: gonna watch this movie.
- 54:17Speaker 2: It's called two thousand Mules, is what it's called first
- 54:21Speaker 2: of all, and assuming the Google algorithm will even let
- 54:25Speaker 2: us find it, his movies.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Are plenty easy to find.
- 54:29Speaker 2: I might have to go to a public library and
- 54:31Speaker 2: use duck duck go fucking COVID mask on my face
- 54:35Speaker 2: so the Feds don't catch on to me.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, but except you're not allowed to use duck
- 54:42Speaker 1: duck go if you're wearing a mask. Oh like this,
- 54:45Speaker 1: that's right, No, I don't know.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Yeah, there's so this is a whole new conspiracy because
- 54:51Speaker 2: there's there's the one that's out, and by the one,
- 54:54Speaker 2: I mean there's like eight different yeah Jesus versions that
- 54:57Speaker 2: all sort of involve Democrats chain ing rules to allow
- 55:02Speaker 2: more mail in voting so they could steal the election
- 55:05Speaker 2: with fraudulent mail in ballots. Right, and this is different.
- 55:11Speaker 2: This is something else, Okay. This theory involves cell phone
- 55:16Speaker 2: location data, like the kind that you can buy about
- 55:21Speaker 2: pretty much any person out on the open market. And
- 55:25Speaker 2: you know, if you want to find out that I
- 55:28Speaker 2: go nowhere, ever, you know, I'm sure with enough Internet
- 55:33Speaker 2: savvy you could go find that information. And so this company,
- 55:38Speaker 2: or this this group called True the Vote bought a
- 55:43Speaker 2: bunch of cell phone location data, and they geo fenced
- 55:51Speaker 2: around ballot drop boxes and their theory is that they
- 55:56Speaker 2: found around two thousand what they call mules, which are
- 56:00Speaker 2: people who were repeatedly going back to these same ballot
- 56:04Speaker 2: drop boxes and just dropping off massive amounts of ballots. Right.
- 56:09Speaker 1: And the thing.
- 56:11Speaker 2: Is in Georgia right now, there is an investigation into
- 56:16Speaker 2: something similar to this, but it's an investigation into ballot harvesting,
- 56:21Speaker 2: which means you go out and you get a bunch
- 56:24Speaker 2: of votes gathered, but those people vote legally, but you
- 56:28Speaker 2: just gather them all up and take them back to
- 56:30Speaker 2: the place yourself, right, which apparently is illegal. It must
- 56:35Speaker 2: be the difference between showing up and offering someone a
- 56:38Speaker 2: ride to the polling place as opposed to showing up
- 56:41Speaker 2: and sticking a mail in ballot in their face and saying, here,
- 56:44Speaker 2: vote and will take it to a place for you.
- 56:47Speaker 2: But that's not what this documentary is alleging. And even
- 56:51Speaker 2: that Georgia investigation, the State of Georgia has made it
- 56:54Speaker 2: clear that the votes in question wouldn't necessarily be fraudulent.
- 56:58Speaker 2: It's just that the way they were gathered in, collected
- 57:00Speaker 2: and delivered kind of bent the rules. Right. This documentary
- 57:05Speaker 2: is apparently going to make the claim that they're just
- 57:09Speaker 2: completely fraudulent shallots that were being dropped off, I guess
- 57:12Speaker 2: in response to them needing more votes. I don't know,
- 57:18Speaker 2: but we're gonna find out.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Great, awesome, just a couple of notes, sure, real quick.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Before we do that, it will probably be playing on
- 57:32Speaker 1: a couple of screens near me. I know other movies
- 57:37Speaker 1: of his have been shown. Oh really, Oh yeah, no,
- 57:40Speaker 1: we get the We we get a decent, healthy theatrical
- 57:44Speaker 1: run of the right wing documentaries, usually around Indianapolis, even
- 57:51Speaker 1: at AMC.
- 57:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I bet we would get that here somewhere.
- 57:56Speaker 1: But I just want to say first of all, that
- 57:59Speaker 1: tooth thousand Mules is a goddamn terrible title for a movie.
- 58:07Speaker 1: It's just just a dog shit title. Doesn't matter what
- 58:10Speaker 1: it's describing, It doesn't matter how much it has to
- 58:14Speaker 1: do with the actual movie itself, like if you even
- 58:17Speaker 1: just compare it to I was just looking back, just
- 58:19Speaker 1: to make sure. I was looking back at his other
- 58:22Speaker 1: documentary titles, and they're all better you've got In twenty twenty,
- 58:28Speaker 1: he had two Infidel and Chump Card, and then he
- 58:33Speaker 1: had Death of a Nation. Get it.
- 58:35Speaker 2: Ah, I get it.
- 58:37Speaker 1: Hillary's America, the Secret History of the Democratic Party that
- 58:40Speaker 1: came out in twenty sixteen, and America Imagine the World
- 58:45Speaker 1: Without Her, which came out in twenty fourteen, which is
- 58:50Speaker 1: that's great, and they that's following up twenty sixteen Obama's America,
- 58:54Speaker 1: which came out in twenty twelve but is called twenty
- 58:57Speaker 1: sixteen Obama's America, And.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Yeah, what the hell was he predicting in that?
- 59:04Speaker 1: No? I mean, I'm sure it was a bunch of
- 59:05Speaker 1: stuff that absolutely came true based on his track record,
- 59:11Speaker 1: and I just wanted the title.
- 59:13Speaker 2: That's definitely the year this became Obama's America.
- 59:16Speaker 1: Right, absolutely in twenty sixteen.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Obama dominated in two K sixteen.
- 59:21Speaker 1: I really love her. I think I really was. I'm trying.
- 59:25Speaker 1: I was trying to figure out who the her is
