- 1:26Speaker 5: to you by the Dollar Flour Store. Rustyberson is here,
- 1:28Speaker 5: Robert Sessen is here. And while I have this in
- 1:31Speaker 5: my hands and I don't forget it, I just want
- 1:33Speaker 5: to group knowledge Chet Brooks, who passed away over the
- 1:38Speaker 5: weekend after battle for cancer. I don't know that I've
- 1:42Speaker 5: ever had a better interviewer in the history of Texas
- 1:50Speaker 5: A and M sports and Chet Brooks.
- 1:52Speaker 6: I loved me some Chet Brooks.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Just because he was when you put a microphone in
- 1:57Speaker 1: front of him.
- 1:58Speaker 5: He was fun, nominal, and that's my business. I loved
- 2:04Speaker 5: visiting with Chet Brooks. He was never shy about anything.
- 2:08Speaker 1: No, he was fantastic and obviously he created the Wrecking
- 2:11Speaker 1: Crew name and uh fantastic guy.
- 2:15Speaker 7: Uh.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I love talking to him too. I mean there's probably
- 2:17Speaker 1: been I don't know a handful of guys like that.
- 2:20Speaker 1: You just turn the mirrophone on Jason Glenn was like that, yeah,
- 2:23Speaker 1: you know, I mean he just light up, you know,
- 2:25Speaker 1: and just he would carry on. And then you had
- 2:28Speaker 1: some of the guys that you knew they were gonna
- 2:29Speaker 1: say something really controversial, like Lence Tickleman or you know,
- 2:33Speaker 1: Dirty Dawson or those guys. Well Dan, Dan, Dad could
- 2:38Speaker 1: could really entertain too. But uh yeah, Chet Brooks I
- 2:42Speaker 1: heard that. I was like, oh man, that's awful.
- 2:44Speaker 6: He was only sixty years old, I believe.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, uh uh, but a great player and a
- 2:50Speaker 1: great ambassador for Texas A and yeah, he was just
- 2:54Speaker 1: this just he was just terrific to visit with.
- 2:57Speaker 8: Larry Boone was covering you obviously full time with them,
- 3:00Speaker 8: and he always would praise chet Brooks, and uh, Larry
- 3:03Speaker 8: and chet Brooks talking to each other. That's that's worth
- 3:06Speaker 8: the price of admissions. Hard to get a word in.
- 3:08Speaker 8: But that group, that's that's too good guys.
- 3:11Speaker 6: A little hard to get a word in. Yeah, because
- 3:14Speaker 6: I remember Mark Ferris.
- 3:16Speaker 1: He used to tell me sometimes like he goes watch
- 3:19Speaker 1: when Larry asked me, next time with the press confience,
- 3:21Speaker 1: you watch, and I'm gonna and so you know how
- 3:23Speaker 1: Larry would like he would ask the question and then
- 3:26Speaker 1: he would answer it, and then he'd ask another one.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Right and Mark, just one time Mark Ferris said, you're right, Larry,
- 3:34Speaker 1: just quote yourself and say it with me.
- 3:38Speaker 8: But that's that's when you those days.
- 3:41Speaker 1: You're going that one.
- 3:42Speaker 8: You don't you.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Don't have you don't have the access, right, you don't
- 3:46Speaker 1: have the personal access.
- 3:47Speaker 8: You don't have to get you don't have a personality anymore. Right,
- 3:49Speaker 8: it's like thirty guys.
- 3:51Speaker 5: It's like the coaches too, right, You just you just
- 3:54Speaker 5: don't have that anymore.
- 3:56Speaker 8: Unfortunately, luckily we had that at one time.
- 3:57Speaker 6: We all could wait in and that was fun and fun.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Well, you were able to pull guys aside over Kane Hall. Yes, remember, yeah,
- 4:04Speaker 1: absolutely fantastic.
- 4:06Speaker 8: Sit there on the couches. Come on, let's be honest and.
- 4:09Speaker 6: Eat really good food.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I'm telling you that was the best food. It was
- 4:14Speaker 1: the best restaurant in town.
- 4:16Speaker 8: Dude, this is good food and talk in the beginning.
- 4:18Speaker 5: I mean, that's that's why I came into the business.
- 4:21Speaker 5: Free food and able to visit with athletes.
- 4:23Speaker 1: That was awesome. Uh, great to have you guys here.
- 4:27Speaker 1: We've got a national championship game.
- 4:29Speaker 5: We will talk about that, But I want to talk
- 4:33Speaker 5: basketball first of all.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Saturday in in Austin.
- 4:38Speaker 5: I wasn't surprised by the outcome, maybe slightly more after
- 4:43Speaker 5: Texas won those two games. I thought A and M
- 4:46Speaker 5: was better going in. I think they proved they were
- 4:48Speaker 5: better going in. And I said this in the first hour.
- 4:52Speaker 5: Every time I watch A and M, Bucky becomes a
- 4:54Speaker 5: lot better coach to be. What he is doing is
- 4:58Speaker 5: really really sp shoal with this team.
- 5:02Speaker 6: Yeah, it really is.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And it's so much fun to watch because it's almost like, yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 1: Carson Becka's stretching right now.
- 5:10Speaker 6: Oh good, yeah, I just left left side.
- 5:13Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Did you know he's played for the national championship before.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Apparently twice according to the girl that asked the question.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Exactly, he goes, well, you know I was hurt. Yeah, yeah,
- 5:23Speaker 1: sorry about that. No, that's all. But you know the
- 5:26Speaker 1: fun thing about this team is that it's almost always
- 5:28Speaker 1: somebody different stepping up. And Rolin Griffin in the second hand,
- 5:32Speaker 1: he was a man. Oh he was here in his
- 5:34Speaker 1: money on Saturday. Yeah, and you know, I mean they
- 5:37Speaker 1: won by four points and Jamie Benson has two monster dogs.
- 5:40Speaker 1: You know, I mean that you see that, and it's like, Okay,
- 5:43Speaker 1: that's kind of who I thought he could be.
- 5:45Speaker 6: And I also thought it was.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Very interesting that Frederica. Frederico didn't even bench, didn't play
- 5:52Speaker 1: a g was just a man. Oh he.
- 5:55Speaker 6: He just works and works and works.
- 5:58Speaker 9: Now.
- 5:59Speaker 5: I love his fireman. I think that team feeds off
- 6:02Speaker 5: of him. He talks, he chirps, he's he.
- 6:07Speaker 6: You can tell.
- 6:08Speaker 1: He walks on the court ready, and I'm not sure
- 6:12Speaker 1: i've seen him take a playoff. He was not intimidated
- 6:15Speaker 1: by at all. But he hasn't been intimidated by anybody. No,
- 6:20Speaker 1: he's played better players than that. He's given up like
- 6:23Speaker 1: three or four inches to that Hid.
- 6:24Speaker 6: No, he's given up about six inches to him.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Rue, He's given up about six.
- 6:30Speaker 6: Inches and you would never know it.
- 6:32Speaker 1: He had that little tiny hook that worked very, very effectively.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I mean, and he just gets it.
- 6:37Speaker 5: Bucky brought out the Charles Barkley reference after the game.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that. I mean before well, I mean there's.
- 6:45Speaker 5: I'm not saying that he's gonna be a Hall of
- 6:47Speaker 5: Fame player by the stretch. I'm just saying that it
- 6:50Speaker 5: is similar that you have a guy in the paint
- 6:52Speaker 5: and especially when Barkley was there, I'm not saying the
- 6:56Speaker 5: guys well, well, there weren't as many seven footers. I
- 6:59Speaker 5: mean were a few, and there were guys that were
- 7:02Speaker 5: taller than Barkley. He played the SEC lots of athletes,
- 7:05Speaker 5: but not like today. I mean, every time Age steps
- 7:08Speaker 5: on the court, he's given up three four five inches
- 7:11Speaker 5: playing that five position, and and he's a man in there.
- 7:16Speaker 8: Get back to what you said though about Bucky. I
- 7:19Speaker 8: I didn't know if A and M would win that
- 7:21Speaker 8: game after Texas seemingly found that their their niche, and
- 7:25Speaker 8: I wanted to see what A and M did after
- 7:27Speaker 8: a game they lost it, maybe they should have won.
- 7:30Speaker 8: Getting back to coaching and chemistry and where your team's at.
- 7:33Speaker 8: I thought that was a huge game that because if
- 7:35Speaker 8: they lost that game to Texas, a well they started out,
- 7:38Speaker 8: but the fact that they won that game on the
- 7:41Speaker 8: road coming off of Tennessee, I thought, get a big check.
- 7:45Speaker 5: And I think we said last week they just need
- 7:48Speaker 5: to go one and one away games.
- 7:53Speaker 1: But I think the reason, like you said, see, I
- 7:56Speaker 1: mean when Texas hit the three pointer right before the
- 7:58Speaker 1: buzzer at the half, it's like, okay, well that's it's
- 8:00Speaker 1: a lot of momentum going out. So when Riley comes
- 8:02Speaker 1: out and hits three threes early, including the four point play,
- 8:06Speaker 1: is like, oh, that is huge.
- 8:08Speaker 5: So I watched basketball for about twelve hours on Saturday.
- 8:11Speaker 5: I didn't leave my seat.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 8:13Speaker 5: I'm not bragging about that, but I did sure, and
- 8:17Speaker 5: a couple of times early in that four minute run
- 8:20Speaker 5: that both coaches talked about to start second half and
- 8:23Speaker 5: m scored seven points on two threes, they fouled Ryland
- 8:29Speaker 5: Griffin and he made the free throw, and then they
- 8:31Speaker 5: fouled Domingus on a three and he made all three.
- 8:35Speaker 1: They scored seven points.
- 8:37Speaker 5: I saw so many stupid players Saturday foul three point shooters.
- 8:45Speaker 5: I just I want to jump through the screen and
- 8:47Speaker 5: choke them. If I'm a coach and you foul a
- 8:51Speaker 5: three point shooter like that, you're coming out and I
- 8:54Speaker 5: don't know if you're coming back.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I don't care how good you are. You're sitting next
- 8:58Speaker 1: to me for a while.
- 8:59Speaker 6: You cannot do that.
- 9:01Speaker 5: And I saw it all day on Saturday, and I
- 9:05Speaker 5: don't understand it.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And did it once too, They did it once, Yeah,
- 9:08Speaker 1: they sure did.
- 9:09Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm with you. It's so frustrating to do that.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, there's no reason for it.
- 9:15Speaker 6: No, I s a lot of times it's after the shot.
- 9:18Speaker 8: I was going to say, I saw a couple where
- 9:20Speaker 8: the guys late, yes, let's compound it. I didn't get there,
- 9:23Speaker 8: but let me follow him after he shoots it.
- 9:25Speaker 6: That just drives me nuts.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Well, and what also drives me nuts, chips is how
- 9:29Speaker 1: many referees watched they don't call a foul to the
- 9:32Speaker 1: ball doesn't go in, right, Yes, I mean that drives
- 9:36Speaker 1: me crazy.
- 9:36Speaker 5: Well, they're waiting to see more that call of foul
- 9:39Speaker 5: before they should blow the what because they're anticipating it
- 9:42Speaker 5: right right.
- 9:43Speaker 8: Well, you're right, but almost they all do it any more, like, Okay,
- 9:46Speaker 8: he's gonna make this bucket, so I'm not going to
- 9:48Speaker 8: call it. Then he misses it, Okay, I'm gonna blow
- 9:50Speaker 8: the whistle. And unfortunately it's getting to be part of
- 9:52Speaker 8: the game. You're right, I see that all the time.
- 9:54Speaker 8: It's almost like this just the way it's going to be.
- 9:57Speaker 8: But once again, is getting back to way like when
- 10:01Speaker 8: they hit the three to in half a gae, Okay,
- 10:03Speaker 8: A and M should be head by more.
- 10:05Speaker 1: But what don't.
- 10:06Speaker 8: We always say about a lot of sports, the team
- 10:08Speaker 8: reflects the coach, and I think this team definitely reflects Bucky.
- 10:12Speaker 8: I mean, he's confident, he believes in what he does,
- 10:16Speaker 8: whether he's at Stanford or Stanford whatever that place.
- 10:19Speaker 6: Was, or I love what he said after the game.
- 10:22Speaker 5: He goes, Look, if you think if we give up
- 10:26Speaker 5: a layup when we're pressing, we're going to quit pressing,
- 10:28Speaker 5: you're wrong.
- 10:30Speaker 6: Right on that end.
- 10:31Speaker 5: If you think we miss our first six three point
- 10:34Speaker 5: shots and go, well, we're not taking any more of those,
- 10:38Speaker 5: you're wrong. He goes, We're going to play how we play,
- 10:42Speaker 5: And almost every game they've dictated the pace of the game.
- 10:48Speaker 5: They didn't quite do it against Tennessee because Tennessee is
- 10:52Speaker 5: just huge inside they are gigantic, but they still had
- 10:58Speaker 5: a chance to win that game, and probably, you know,
- 11:03Speaker 5: I'm just very impressed with this team and what you're
- 11:08Speaker 5: and I don't think that's gonna happen because of what
- 11:10Speaker 5: you've already said, Sees, but there's a chance they go, oh,
- 11:15Speaker 5: that was a hard week, but you know we came
- 11:17Speaker 5: out pretty good.
- 11:18Speaker 6: Everbody's patting's on the back.
- 11:19Speaker 5: We get Mississippi State and South Carolina at home back
- 11:22Speaker 5: to back. It's like, oh, this is gonna be a
- 11:24Speaker 5: good week. You know, we're down, we get two games.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I'm going, well, you still have to play, right, Yeah,
- 11:29Speaker 1: recently you got to play.
- 11:30Speaker 6: The reality is they didn't run.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Away from me, buddy, Oh no, and I don't think
- 11:35Speaker 1: they will. And yeah, I don't think they will either.
- 11:37Speaker 1: So I think that they have to show up. And
- 11:39Speaker 1: also the reality is they primarily played the bottom half
- 11:42Speaker 1: of the SEC.
- 11:43Speaker 5: And they got a kid coming in Wednesday night. They
- 11:45Speaker 5: can beat you by himself. Oh yeah, Josh Hopper can
- 11:48Speaker 5: beat you by him. He beat Texas. Okay, uh he
- 11:53Speaker 5: scored thirty six or something like that. He just went nuts.
- 11:56Speaker 1: And that's what I love about this ANEM team is
- 11:59Speaker 1: that they don't have one guy who's gonna be there
- 12:02Speaker 1: every single night. But I mean, you look at the
- 12:05Speaker 1: Ruben didn't have a really good shooting night against Texas,
- 12:08Speaker 1: but he's one for four from three. But then Ryland
- 12:10Speaker 1: had the and then car Lane had a big one.
- 12:13Speaker 1: My guys, Zach Clemens banked one end.
- 12:15Speaker 5: Yeah, take him out and get him right at a
- 12:18Speaker 5: four point game. You've already mentioned, you know, the two dunks.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Uh uh.
- 12:23Speaker 5: Sean Miller talked about the four layups, you know, in
- 12:26Speaker 5: the second half on the flex cuts.
- 12:28Speaker 1: He goes, that's deep, crazy, Diva is such he's so
- 12:31Speaker 1: good at that. You remember the one that he put
- 12:33Speaker 1: on so high on the class.
- 12:36Speaker 6: Yeah, he's really improved.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Shot talk about to expire and yeah he is.
- 12:40Speaker 6: You know, I mean he got his twenty two minutes Saturday.
- 12:42Speaker 1: He plays one speed and it is super fast, and
- 12:46Speaker 1: he's athletic. Yes, right, he can defend, right, he can.
- 12:51Speaker 5: And I'm telling you as little as five games ago,
- 12:54Speaker 5: I'm going, why are they putting this guy in the cave?
- 12:58Speaker 1: Remember right, we were talking about Rilin and how he
- 13:01Speaker 1: didn't have a motor going and now he looked what
- 13:03Speaker 1: he's done. Yes, Oh, he's such a good player and
- 13:07Speaker 1: he's so good on the defensive end.
- 13:08Speaker 6: You know he should be.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean he he should be that he has
- 13:12Speaker 1: that pedigree, right, he has the pedigree to do it.
- 13:15Speaker 1: And you know, but he and ag really carried the
- 13:19Speaker 1: team in the second half on satur Yeah, they sure did.
- 13:22Speaker 8: I think it's nice when you go in A and
- 13:24Speaker 8: M's names in Lenardi's bracket. That's you know what waiting
- 13:27Speaker 8: for I got there last week, and that when you're
- 13:29Speaker 8: in that, to me, that's when you're part of March madness.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Well, I'm not.
- 13:33Speaker 5: I don't want to pick on people, but I saw
- 13:35Speaker 5: a little uh note today that Bucky has already won
- 13:40Speaker 5: as many games against Texas as Buzz did. Now, in fairness,
- 13:47Speaker 5: I didn't see that. I'm just saying you posted. No,
- 13:50Speaker 5: I didn't post. Somebody else posted, but it wasn't Buzz.
- 13:54Speaker 5: It was kind of funny. Buzz won a game, went
- 13:57Speaker 5: a conference. Yeah, yeah, he had a guy go off.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't think they're very good. They're not very good.
- 14:03Speaker 1: But the kid, the kid had thirty points at the half.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Oh wow, at the half.
- 14:08Speaker 8: Yeah that's I didn't take him out.
- 14:11Speaker 1: That's more than the.
- 14:12Speaker 6: A and M women had the whole game. Practically what
- 14:16Speaker 6: they say, too soon, man, great win, really really good win.
- 14:24Speaker 1: You know.
- 14:25Speaker 5: I played Sean Miller afterward. He gave all the props
- 14:29Speaker 5: and I like him. I said earlier, he's pretty straight.
- 14:32Speaker 5: He's like bucketing the fact that he's pretty straightforward. He's accountable.
- 14:37Speaker 5: He said, that's on me. They get four layups on
- 14:40Speaker 5: simple back cuts, wouldn't prepare him Bucky was better. I mean,
- 14:45Speaker 5: the team was better. He I mean, he said all
- 14:48Speaker 5: the right things. He got out coached on Saturday. I'm
- 14:52Speaker 5: still waiting in the second half for Texas to understand
- 14:57Speaker 5: they have a seven foot guy in the post to
- 14:59Speaker 5: throw the ball to, because.
- 15:00Speaker 1: In the first half they did. I mean, do you
- 15:03Speaker 1: know how many.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Shotsoc Titus took total in the game?
- 15:08Speaker 6: Four?
- 15:09Speaker 1: He took four shots. That's amazing. From he made three.
- 15:14Speaker 5: He went to the line twelve times, so he got fouled.
- 15:18Speaker 5: He took four shots.
- 15:20Speaker 8: Can't happen it.
- 15:21Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 15:22Speaker 8: It's a small team.
- 15:23Speaker 5: That's like fouling the three point shooter. I take my
- 15:25Speaker 5: guard out because they had one guy go like zero
- 15:28Speaker 5: for six. Set him down and say, hey, before you
- 15:31Speaker 5: hoist that three point shot with two guys on.
- 15:33Speaker 1: You, you might want to think of the seven foot
- 15:35Speaker 1: guy in the post. To get even the announcers, the
- 15:39Speaker 1: TV announcers were saying, you know, Texas is allowing A
- 15:42Speaker 1: and M to dictate the pace, and they did, and.
- 15:45Speaker 5: They've done that most of the season. Right, He's done
- 15:48Speaker 5: it most of the year.
- 15:49Speaker 1: But Texas got caught up in playing a little bit
- 15:52Speaker 1: A and M instead of a little bit. The first half.
- 15:55Speaker 1: They did what they wanted to. Yeah, it is twenty
- 15:57Speaker 1: nine to twenty nine, right, that's Texas style, right.
- 16:00Speaker 5: Absolutely, But they allowed a and m scored forty five
- 16:03Speaker 5: points in the second half, right, yep, that's a big second.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Half and for the most part and him kept it
- 16:09Speaker 1: eight to ten. Yes, they most the second half. Yes,
- 16:11Speaker 1: they did, which was really good to see. Yes.
- 16:14Speaker 5: And when you can go ahead and closed it out
- 16:16Speaker 5: when it got closed, Yeah.
- 16:17Speaker 6: Carlton had a big free throw he did.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:20Speaker 8: But when you can dictate it on the road in
- 16:23Speaker 8: a hostile environment, that's I mean, that's saying something because
- 16:26Speaker 8: usually the crowd is worth something. And by the.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Way, if i'm nitpicking, still a little concerned about the
- 16:33Speaker 1: free throws, Yep, you know they they were twelve of nineteen.
- 16:37Speaker 6: That's sixty three percent. That's not good enough.
- 16:40Speaker 1: You know, in a four point game on the road.
- 16:43Speaker 6: They were very fortunate. That's not good enough.
- 16:46Speaker 5: And they've had you know, they they immediately shot the
- 16:50Speaker 5: ball from the live portal against Tennessee.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Which cost him, It cost him the game.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Did so in these league games, almost all of them
- 16:59Speaker 5: are going to be these kind of games because I
- 17:01Speaker 5: don't think you have.
- 17:03Speaker 1: A runaway team right now.
- 17:05Speaker 5: You know, Florida's looking really good because they're getting guard
- 17:08Speaker 5: play and I think they're getting their confidence. And this is,
- 17:12Speaker 5: after all, the defending national champs with about three or
- 17:15Speaker 5: four players who played a year ago in the national
- 17:17Speaker 5: championship team, and they.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Look dangerous right now. They do.
- 17:21Speaker 5: But all these games, almost all of them, they're coming
- 17:26Speaker 5: down to the wire.
- 17:27Speaker 8: Yeah, I was looking at laugh because Oklahoma plays well
- 17:29Speaker 8: enough to lose, Yes, just well enough. You talk about
- 17:32Speaker 8: a team.
- 17:32Speaker 6: That that Alabama on the road.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I feel for.
- 17:35Speaker 8: Pope Mosure because they had a chance to get that
- 17:37Speaker 8: big win or that ever, and they just play well
- 17:41Speaker 8: enough to lose.
- 17:42Speaker 6: How about Lush you getting a win?
- 17:43Speaker 8: Yeah, I like that guy. There's good coaches.
- 17:47Speaker 1: But I don't know if y'all saw this last week
- 17:50Speaker 1: after they blew the big lead against Kentucky and lost
- 17:54Speaker 1: there on the Christian Latner play, he comes out the
- 17:58Speaker 1: next day and says, well, if we don't go to
- 18:01Speaker 1: the NC Double A Tournament, we're definitely going to be
- 18:03Speaker 1: reevaluating our coaching situation. Now.
- 18:06Speaker 5: Usually you get a vote of confidence and then you
- 18:09Speaker 5: get fired at the end of the season. This guy's
- 18:11Speaker 5: like I'm going they've played at the time, they played
- 18:15Speaker 5: four games right and lost at the buzzer to a
- 18:18Speaker 5: really good team on a on a flute play. And
- 18:21Speaker 5: he comes out and goes, well, we've got to go
- 18:23Speaker 5: to the tournament. We're going to be reevaluating them.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Go ahead. What kind of hope does that give the players?
- 18:29Speaker 8: I didn't know Coachman's basketball too.
- 18:32Speaker 1: You know what, Kentucky is getting it together. I mean,
- 18:34Speaker 1: the way they got players, the way they came back
- 18:37Speaker 1: Tennessee was impressive.
- 18:39Speaker 6: It was very impressive.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Well, and they've done that. They came back.
- 18:43Speaker 5: They've come back cut three times. They are from double
- 18:45Speaker 5: digit teams. They're terrible in the first half.
- 18:48Speaker 6: But back to A and M.
- 18:49Speaker 1: You know, I said the first of the year, you
- 18:52Speaker 1: have to go nine to nine at the minimum, probably
- 18:55Speaker 1: ten and eight to get this. Well, right now, you're
- 18:58Speaker 1: for to one. So if you go six and seven
- 19:01Speaker 1: the rest of the way you're in.
- 19:05Speaker 6: I mean, that's very doable.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Especially you know, I can look ahead a little bit.
- 19:10Speaker 1: I'm not playing in these games, so you know, I
- 19:12Speaker 1: expect them to win these two games. If you get
- 19:15Speaker 1: to do six and you get to six and one.
- 19:17Speaker 1: You're like, Okay, this is a really doable thing, and
- 19:20Speaker 1: they played well at home. Okay, so this stretch, I'm
- 19:24Speaker 1: telling you they they need to take advantage because they
- 19:27Speaker 1: called Georgia. They go to Georgia, they go to Alabama,
- 19:32Speaker 1: they host Florida, they host Missouri, they go to Vanderbilt.
- 19:37Speaker 1: That's their next five games after that. Why it's real
- 19:41Speaker 1: important to get the six and one.
- 19:42Speaker 8: Very important.
- 19:43Speaker 1: You're very important.
- 19:45Speaker 8: They don't take the wins away from you. No, no,
- 19:47Speaker 8: just keep them mind.
- 19:48Speaker 9: No.
- 19:48Speaker 5: And I'm not saying they're not going to have a
- 19:51Speaker 5: chance to win every one of those games. I'm just
- 19:54Speaker 5: saying it ain't going to be easy to win those games.
- 19:57Speaker 9: No.
- 19:58Speaker 1: The nice part about Georgia, I think if you're look
- 20:00Speaker 1: at the schedule, I think they got a whole week
- 20:01Speaker 1: to get ready for you. Yes they do. They have
- 20:03Speaker 1: their week on. I don't have every team. He gets
- 20:05Speaker 1: a week. Yeah, that's a good time to get that
- 20:07Speaker 1: week because I think Georgia is beatable. I've watched them
- 20:10Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 20:11Speaker 6: They're good.
- 20:12Speaker 1: They play like A and M.
- 20:13Speaker 6: Yes, they do that.
- 20:14Speaker 5: That game could be in the nineties. Yes, they're very athletic.
- 20:18Speaker 5: I don't know how good a basketball team.
- 20:21Speaker 1: They are, but they're extremely athletic, they are, and they
- 20:24Speaker 1: play fast. And I can't determine if Mike White's a
- 20:28Speaker 1: really good coach or not. You know, I just I don't.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I've always thought he was.
- 20:31Speaker 5: I do too, you know, from the day he came
- 20:34Speaker 5: here and bt A and m and the n I
- 20:36Speaker 5: t h.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I always thought he was a good chick, right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:41Speaker 5: I liked him too too, you know, and I yeah,
- 20:44Speaker 5: maybe so, I didn't think he was. I didn't think
- 20:47Speaker 5: he was terrible at Florida. You know, he'd winter national champion.
- 20:51Speaker 6: She's just one of those guys.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I look at it. I was like, is he really
- 20:54Speaker 1: good or just kind of okay? I can't figure it out.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I get that.
- 20:58Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm voting good, but waits.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he's a great recruiter.
- 21:02Speaker 8: I think I think he relates well to the kids.
- 21:04Speaker 8: And you got to do that these.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Days, I tell you, Todd golden coach. I just thought
- 21:08Speaker 5: i'd throw that out there. I think he's a pretty
- 21:11Speaker 5: dag good basketball coach to be as young, wasn't he
- 21:15Speaker 5: the youngest national championship winner and like the second youngest ever.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Something like that.
- 21:23Speaker 8: I mean, he can coach.
- 21:25Speaker 1: And they started out and I'll watched him early and
- 21:27Speaker 1: I'm going, oh no, they had no guard play. And
- 21:32Speaker 1: now Lee and Boogie Flann they have awakened and mad.
- 21:36Speaker 1: They're dangerous right now. So it's it's gonna be fun.
- 21:40Speaker 8: But you see that. You can say that it's all conferences.
- 21:43Speaker 8: But of course we look around the SEC and some
- 21:45Speaker 8: of those scores as they developed Saturday obviously, and like, man,
- 21:48Speaker 8: just you talk about one possession games over and over.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Seven teams at three and two right, a game behind
- 21:54Speaker 5: A and M, seven teams at three and two, and
- 21:58Speaker 5: four more at two and three. You know, one of
- 22:01Speaker 5: those two and three teams is Tennessee that I'm gone, wow, uh,
- 22:07Speaker 5: what's wrong with that picture?
- 22:09Speaker 1: And the other team is Auburn, which are they just
- 22:12Speaker 1: they perplex me?
- 22:14Speaker 6: They athletes, you know that.
- 22:17Speaker 5: You know, for whatever reason, Todd Pettiford, who was a
- 22:19Speaker 5: preseason All American, who was unbelievable last year, you can't
- 22:24Speaker 5: play at home.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I'm not sure why they have athletes there.
- 22:29Speaker 5: And I'm thinking the son is not quite as good
- 22:34Speaker 5: as the father was.
- 22:35Speaker 1: No, it's a hard job. That is a hard hard
- 22:40Speaker 1: job to take it and better win, better win. Yeah.
- 22:43Speaker 8: Now talking about they're not going to put up with.
- 22:45Speaker 5: No, they won't. No, they're not gonna put up with that.
- 22:49Speaker 5: I think it's just going to be hand to hand
- 22:51Speaker 5: the rest of the year. I really do well.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I think that I think the league is very even. Yes,
- 22:58Speaker 1: it's not the same like I thought it was real
- 23:00Speaker 1: top heavy last year. There were so many, but there
- 23:03Speaker 1: were a lot of good elite That's what. I don't
- 23:06Speaker 1: think there's any allers teams. No, but there's a bunch
- 23:09Speaker 1: of them that pre name good. Yes. Yeah. And I
- 23:12Speaker 1: think that's what you're saying is every night's going to
- 23:13Speaker 1: be a battle.
- 23:14Speaker 5: Well, they can beat anybody, right, and they could probably
- 23:17Speaker 5: lose to anybody.
- 23:18Speaker 1: And I'm talking about the top of the league, right.
- 23:20Speaker 8: You're talking five minutes and you didn't even mention Arkansas.
- 23:22Speaker 8: You always got to mention.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I love Arkansas.
- 23:24Speaker 5: I said that earlier, you know, before Florida has done
- 23:27Speaker 5: what they've done the last two weeks. I thought Arkansas
- 23:30Speaker 5: was the most talented and the best team in the league.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I thought, you know what, when Texas had turned around
- 23:36Speaker 1: the way they beat Alabama and Vandy. Yes, and now
- 23:39Speaker 1: all of a sudden good, Vandy doesn't seem I mean,
- 23:42Speaker 1: they seem like they've you know, here's Vandy's biggest issue,
- 23:45Speaker 1: and this has been their issue all year and they
- 23:48Speaker 1: were still winning that they just don't have any size, right,
- 23:52Speaker 1: they do not have any size. Florida is huge, yes,
- 23:57Speaker 1: and they were in trouble from the beginning with that
- 24:01Speaker 1: front line. It was like watching A and M against
- 24:04Speaker 1: Tennessee or Glahoma.
- 24:05Speaker 6: Oklahoma's big.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I mean there are a lot of times big. I
- 24:10Speaker 1: mean I like watching all these guys. Yeah, yeah, like
- 24:12Speaker 1: every game I've been to that's in the SEC. I
- 24:15Speaker 1: was like, man, is gonna struggle.
- 24:17Speaker 6: Not exactly in the post, but ag won't have it.
- 24:21Speaker 1: He won't have it, man, Yeah, he's not gonna put
- 24:23Speaker 1: out that no, and he just he's just gonna fight.
- 24:26Speaker 8: He's an NBA player in the inside. I mean, he's
- 24:29Speaker 8: a man.
- 24:30Speaker 1: He certainly has an NBA player body.
- 24:32Speaker 8: You know. Uh, you see that muscle when he just
- 24:34Speaker 8: takes the ball and you're gonna move.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Him, and he's going to find a way to get
- 24:39Speaker 1: a shot up over you, whether it's the baby hook
- 24:41Speaker 1: or underneath, you know, and that's the other thing. You
- 24:43Speaker 1: don't see a lot of his shots blocked.
- 24:45Speaker 6: No you don't.
- 24:46Speaker 1: That's the amazing thing because it does, and he's going
- 24:51Speaker 1: back you down and it's just pure muscle there.
- 24:55Speaker 8: A lot of coaches are saying, why didn't we get
- 24:57Speaker 8: that guy? I mean, you know, it's like he's the
- 24:58Speaker 8: kind of guy that's the difference. Man.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Well, you know what, you look at this roster and
- 25:02Speaker 1: you're going, you know, when you saw it, you're going, well,
- 25:05Speaker 1: you know, there's some well known players, you know, with
- 25:08Speaker 1: Pop and Ryland, especially Abaco, you know his Freshman of
- 25:11Speaker 1: the Year a couple of years ago. And you're going, okay,
- 25:14Speaker 1: so he's got a few players. But these other guys.
- 25:18Speaker 5: That have stepped up, you know, the Lanes and the
- 25:20Speaker 5: Holloways and these guys who have just stepped up and
- 25:24Speaker 5: played it's been impressive.
- 25:27Speaker 7: Well.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Well, I just like the way Jakari Lane handles the ball.
- 25:30Speaker 1: He keeps everything. I don't know, he just has a
- 25:34Speaker 1: way and he's quite a composure about him.
- 25:37Speaker 6: Yes, he is quick.
- 25:38Speaker 1: He's quick.
- 25:39Speaker 8: I gets back to is you got to give Bucky
- 25:41Speaker 8: credit for putting this team together. I mean, he had
- 25:42Speaker 8: to put it all together.
- 25:43Speaker 6: In less than a year, which is amazing.
- 25:45Speaker 8: And you think about how the people come in and
- 25:48Speaker 8: adapt his system that quick. That's being a coach slash GM.
- 25:53Speaker 8: I mean, that's being.
- 25:53Speaker 5: Bad and getting them to play how he wants them
- 25:57Speaker 5: to play right.
- 25:58Speaker 8: Without a doubt. And like I said, you can't take
- 26:01Speaker 8: any of those wins away. They're there, and now you
- 26:03Speaker 8: can try to be.
- 26:04Speaker 5: Ald Hey, I said in the first hour, if this
- 26:08Speaker 5: team doesn't win another game, and again I'm not I
- 26:12Speaker 5: don't expect that, but if they didn't win another game
- 26:15Speaker 5: in the league, you're looking at going, you know what,
- 26:19Speaker 5: this this team showed unbelievable promise this year, right, I mean,
- 26:23Speaker 5: because we didn't know what you're getting when when all
- 26:26Speaker 5: this started Bucket's hired. You're going, I don't know if
- 26:28Speaker 5: they're going to win a conference game, right, I just
- 26:31Speaker 5: don't know if they're going to win a conference game.
- 26:33Speaker 1: They're so far behind the eight ball, you know. I
- 26:36Speaker 1: went to that SMU game and I thought SMU is
- 26:38Speaker 1: a real solid team, you know. I thought, okay, you know,
- 26:42Speaker 1: and then probably should have won this game, and so
- 26:45Speaker 1: I think they'll be able to compete. But still I
- 26:47Speaker 1: never envisioned it before and one the sec right, yes,
- 26:50Speaker 1: I mean, no, no way, yes, and to create the
- 26:53Speaker 1: excitement that they have.
- 26:54Speaker 6: And I hope there's a big crowd Wednesda night.
- 26:58Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 26:58Speaker 5: I know everybody's saying that Saturday totally optimistic.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you know it's eight o'clock game. I know, but
- 27:05Speaker 1: this team deserves a lot of support. They're fun to watch,
- 27:09Speaker 1: yes they are. I mean when loser draw, they are
- 27:11Speaker 1: really fun to wink. I'm telling you, if Vincent can
- 27:14Speaker 1: take this last game and continue to get better, he
- 27:16Speaker 1: could be a huge part of this death wise, he's big,
- 27:19Speaker 1: yes he is. And you can't coach that.
- 27:21Speaker 5: You can't coach the height and and and uh rim protection.
- 27:25Speaker 5: He hasn't defended as well as I'd like to see
- 27:28Speaker 5: him raw, ye, I mean he had played a lot
- 27:32Speaker 5: about it, I don't want to. I'm not sure how
- 27:34Speaker 5: much he played at Texas last year. I don't think
- 27:36Speaker 5: he played a lot at all.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I don't think he did either, so he hadn't played
- 27:40Speaker 1: a lot. The way he attacked the basket a couple
- 27:43Speaker 1: of times, that was impressive.
- 27:45Speaker 6: Again, you can't coach that height.
- 27:47Speaker 5: Right on Writers Round Table on a Monday, brought to

- 32:00Speaker 14: You can hear ig baseball on the Zone.
- 32:20Speaker 5: It's the Runners around table Russey Burst and Robert Saith
- 32:24Speaker 5: that brought to you by Intech. I got some final
- 32:28Speaker 5: transfer portal updates right?
- 32:31Speaker 1: You ready for this?
- 32:32Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 32:34Speaker 5: Ten thousand, nine hundred and sixty five players entered the portal.
- 32:40Speaker 6: Wow, hear what I said?
- 32:42Speaker 1: Have almost eleven thousand.
- 32:45Speaker 8: Okay, that's more in some countries.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Six thousand, six hundred and seventy one players still looking
- 32:55Speaker 1: to sign somewhere.
- 32:56Speaker 8: Wow, give us a call, right, Wow?
- 33:01Speaker 5: Yeah, that's that's about forty five hundred that I haven't
- 33:07Speaker 5: found a landing spot.
- 33:09Speaker 8: But my test scores like sixty percent.
- 33:11Speaker 6: So what happens those guys?
- 33:13Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, do they give a chance
- 33:16Speaker 1: to go back to their old schools or I don't. Yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 1: I think they can.
- 33:20Speaker 8: Do they do they want if they take them.
- 33:23Speaker 1: But their old schools have already moved on. Yeah right, Wow,
- 33:27Speaker 1: once they've announced they're leaving, they've already got their positions still.
- 33:30Speaker 8: Just like FBS. That's one to you're talking about just
- 33:33Speaker 8: the FPS you're not talking about.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Oh no, there they know. That's that's all everybody. Everybody okay, okay,
- 33:40Speaker 5: that was everybody.
- 33:41Speaker 1: But still, and I guess the major colleges they no
- 33:45Speaker 1: one ever mentions like junior colleges. Who recruits junior colleges anymore?
- 33:50Speaker 1: Do they do they recruit them anymore? I don't know.
- 33:53Speaker 8: Good point. I mean, it's not like you remember when
- 33:55Speaker 8: we used to get a cruise high school anymore?
- 33:57Speaker 6: I know, exactly right.
- 33:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, these guys are the average age of Indiana,
- 34:06Speaker 5: and I don't know about because I've just seen a
- 34:08Speaker 5: story the last day or so, and then there is
- 34:13Speaker 5: between twenty three and twenty four years old.
- 34:14Speaker 8: I remember that. Yeah. Yeah, okay, they're like BYU. Yeah,
- 34:18Speaker 8: they're on a mission, yeah, to win a national championship.
- 34:21Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, that's crazy.
- 34:24Speaker 1: That is crazy. But once again, is it's where the
- 34:26Speaker 1: Carson Becks would be twenty five.
- 34:28Speaker 8: It's where the game's gone because they get the extra year.
- 34:31Speaker 8: Everybody wants the red.
- 34:32Speaker 5: Shirt, everybody wants that quarterback man. Price keeps going up
- 34:36Speaker 5: on that, right.
- 34:38Speaker 8: Well, I see the Wall Street Journal come out with
- 34:40Speaker 8: their of teams, and once again is everything's reflected by
- 34:45Speaker 8: the fact is you go buy players and so now everybody.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Will Well, it's like I told y'all last week, the
- 34:50Speaker 1: most interesting number to me is that Malaca Toni was
- 34:53Speaker 1: eleven years old when Carson Beck started his college career.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Is that nazing?
- 34:59Speaker 6: Yes?
- 35:00Speaker 5: So you mentioned the Wall Street Journal. Uh, they do
- 35:05Speaker 5: this every year. They value football programs.
- 35:09Speaker 8: If you had to go out and buy this team,
- 35:11Speaker 8: if you could do it, what it would cost me?
- 35:13Speaker 6: No, this is just their worth.
- 35:16Speaker 8: Okay, but yeah, yeah, the guy says, if you were,
- 35:19Speaker 8: other words, buying the Cowboys, if you're buying.
- 35:21Speaker 5: Yes, yes, yes, yes, if you're buying this team like
- 35:26Speaker 5: the NFL call it, this is what they're worth.
- 35:28Speaker 6: Are you ready?
- 35:30Speaker 1: Yeah? I bet you. Texas.
- 35:31Speaker 5: Texas is number one at two point ones at two
- 35:36Speaker 5: point one billion, dollars billion amateur athletics.
- 35:42Speaker 1: We're talking about number two and this is just football, right,
- 35:45Speaker 1: just football.
- 35:47Speaker 6: This is what the value is.
- 35:49Speaker 5: How do you think number two Texas A and L Yeah,
- 35:52Speaker 5: they're they're about a little less than one point six
- 35:57Speaker 5: billion dollars.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Last Okay, that's a big jump from nine to two.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Ohio State and see, that's surprising to me that Ohio
- 36:07Speaker 1: State is three.
- 36:08Speaker 8: They won it last year, they were number one, number one.
- 36:10Speaker 8: Didn't win it. They were number one last year.
- 36:12Speaker 6: LSU now they won it.
- 36:15Speaker 8: They were number one.
- 36:16Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, l s U four,
- 36:21Speaker 5: Michigan is five. Notre Dame Georgia in state Alabama still Nebraska,
- 36:29Speaker 5: which surprises me.
- 36:31Speaker 8: That surprised me too, And I read that, but.
- 36:33Speaker 5: Nebraska despite what would Nebraska be if they won?
- 36:38Speaker 6: Right, that's what we ask about.
- 36:40Speaker 1: How they value these teams, all the pro teams, how
- 36:43Speaker 1: they value them. They get new stadiums, their value goes
- 36:46Speaker 1: way up. In Indiana is not in the top twenty twenty,
- 36:51Speaker 1: they were eight, Yeah something like, let me let me
- 36:54Speaker 1: see if this story has that. Well, yeah, they're they're.
- 36:58Speaker 8: Not there, twenty eight. Miami's twenty first.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so what all goes into that the stadium, the no.
- 37:05Speaker 8: He looked. It's a professor at Indiana University.
- 37:09Speaker 5: I want to say, evaluations have increased forty six percent.
- 37:14Speaker 5: Within the top twenty in the nation's top programs. The
- 37:21Speaker 5: SEC fifteen teams exceed one billion dollars at value. Okay,
- 37:28Speaker 5: fifteen fourteen of them are either Big ten or SEC.
- 37:33Speaker 5: Notre Dame is number six.
- 37:35Speaker 6: Okay, So again, tell me the criteria that I.
- 37:39Speaker 5: Don't know all of the criteria. The media rights, ticket sales,
- 37:45Speaker 5: alumni donations, licensing, ad contracts, conference contributions are a lot
- 37:56Speaker 5: of what goes into.
- 37:57Speaker 1: This makes a lot more sense now because it's like
- 38:00Speaker 1: the Cowboys are number one in all SPORTSS. Correct, because
- 38:03Speaker 1: of they're merchandising. That's correct. And they still and brand
- 38:06Speaker 1: name and which deals with merchandise. But but they're merchandising
- 38:12Speaker 1: it so surpasses anybody else. It's ridiculous.
- 38:15Speaker 6: It doesn't matter. They haven't been to a Super Bowl
- 38:17Speaker 6: since correct.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Correct. I saw that there's plans that they're gonna they're
- 38:22Speaker 1: possibly going to do a six billion dollar renovation of
- 38:25Speaker 1: Jerry war.
- 38:27Speaker 6: I saw that today. It's ridiculous.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I mean there's plans out there, it's just well, the.
- 38:33Speaker 6: Problem is they don't have to win to do that.
- 38:36Speaker 5: So I would argue that this is slightly different in that,
- 38:42Speaker 5: as you mentioned, Ohio State was up because they were,
- 38:45Speaker 5: you know, defending national won the national championship last year.
- 38:49Speaker 5: I would argue that these values are going to rise
- 38:52Speaker 5: and fall with the success of these programs. In other words,
- 38:56Speaker 5: when they do this next year, leave Indiana will probably
- 39:01Speaker 5: be in the top twenty.
- 39:02Speaker 1: This one shocked me.
- 39:04Speaker 5: Colorado is twenty one at eight hundred and seventy million dollars.
- 39:09Speaker 8: Shocked me. That's the only ACC slash Big twelve team
- 39:13Speaker 8: because all the rest are SEC or Big ten other
- 39:16Speaker 8: than Notre Dame.
- 39:17Speaker 5: Okay, uh that was in the top fifteen. USC is
- 39:22Speaker 5: number sixteen ten. Obviously they're Big ten. You're right, You're right,
- 39:28Speaker 5: all of them except for Colorado. And you would not think.
- 39:32Speaker 5: I wouldn't think that Colorado would be the highest ranks
- 39:36Speaker 5: valued No Big twelve, right.
- 39:38Speaker 1: I wouldn't either. I think Texas Tech maybe, but yeah,
- 39:42Speaker 1: I don't know BYU.
- 39:43Speaker 6: Even BYU came to mind.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's interesting, it's very very interesting. Do you realize
- 39:49Speaker 1: if A and M ever wins a mass championship football,
- 39:52Speaker 1: how much is going to be merchandising cost me? And merchandising,
- 39:55Speaker 1: I mean, would it be more than the Rangers. It
- 39:57Speaker 1: probably would be equal to the range you know that
- 40:02Speaker 1: that cost me so much money? Yeah, just for they
- 40:05Speaker 1: love that.
- 40:06Speaker 8: But see, this is this is what I'm.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Talking This is what I'm talking about.
- 40:11Speaker 5: If these teams go on you know, two three, back
- 40:14Speaker 5: to back losing seasons, they're not going to be valued
- 40:16Speaker 5: at two point one billion dollars. I mean, they're just
- 40:19Speaker 5: they're just not I don't think. I mean, Texas has
- 40:24Speaker 5: always done an amazing job of keeping their name in
- 40:28Speaker 5: the public right you know, whether they're winning or losing.
- 40:31Speaker 1: It's an amazing thing to me. The popularity of the
- 40:35Speaker 1: Texas Longhorns, the Dallas Cowboys in the Hispanic community. Yes,
- 40:39Speaker 1: it's really amazing. Yes, I kid you not. It is
- 40:42Speaker 1: like its for Cairos. You know, they're the team serious
- 40:47Speaker 1: and they've.
- 40:47Speaker 5: Got the entire country of Mexico which they you know
- 40:50Speaker 5: they play uh preseason games.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Now the Cowboys own Mexico. Yes, it's amazing. That's a
- 40:56Speaker 1: lot of people, Yes it is, Yeah, yeah, I.
- 41:00Speaker 8: Know why either you're absolutely correct.
- 41:02Speaker 5: All right, we'll take a break. We will talk about
- 41:04Speaker 5: the national championship. Come back after this. For Zornam And

- 42:43Speaker 5: We're just slightly more than an hour away from kickoff.
- 42:49Speaker 5: Me too, we will have We will join our coverage
- 42:53Speaker 5: at six o'clock.
- 42:54Speaker 1: What do you think about the game tonight?
- 42:57Speaker 8: Well, luckily I haven't paid any attention, though, I just
- 43:00Speaker 8: think it's too much. We talked off here.
- 43:02Speaker 6: I don't like it.
- 43:02Speaker 8: Imagine him Miami played on December tenth. I guess it was.
- 43:06Speaker 8: That's all. It seems a long time ago. I just
- 43:08Speaker 8: think a Indiana's has answered every challenge. And I get it.
- 43:13Speaker 8: You like to have a good defense. But until Andy
- 43:16Speaker 8: Indiana screws up, which I don't think they will, They've
- 43:19Speaker 8: got too good a quarterback. He doesn't make mistakes. I
- 43:22Speaker 8: laugh when you had him on the One of the
- 43:24Speaker 8: things he said was I can go through my options
- 43:26Speaker 8: number five for six and I go, hope you don't
- 43:28Speaker 8: go to six, or's only five eligible? Or its considered himself.
- 43:31Speaker 8: Maybe he's so smart, I'll tell it to myself.
- 43:34Speaker 9: You know.
- 43:35Speaker 1: The only way I think Miami stays in this game
- 43:39Speaker 1: is if they don't do the stupid things that they've
- 43:41Speaker 1: done so many times this year. What I mean is
- 43:45Speaker 1: they can't have the personal files. They can't they can't
- 43:48Speaker 1: have the late hits. They've stat penalties pre snap pill
- 43:51Speaker 1: has I had that against A and M They They've
- 43:53Speaker 1: done a lot of stupid things and they've survived it.
- 43:56Speaker 1: I don't think that they can survive it tonight. I
- 43:58Speaker 1: think that they get the defense to stay in the game,
- 44:02Speaker 1: but again they cannot.
- 44:03Speaker 5: You really don't expect Indiana to beat themselves to you.
- 44:07Speaker 1: No, I do not expect Indiana to be They're so solid.
- 44:11Speaker 1: But I do think Miami has a chance defensively to
- 44:15Speaker 1: stop them, to make some stops which other teams haven't
- 44:19Speaker 1: made stops against Indiana all games. I mean, I don't
- 44:23Speaker 1: think that this is going to be a runaway. I
- 44:24Speaker 1: could be wrong, because Indiana's run away from everybody else,
- 44:28Speaker 1: I don't as good as and they over under surprised me.
- 44:33Speaker 5: Sees it's like forty six and a half or something,
- 44:37Speaker 5: and I'm going that seems small to me.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Its low to me. I haven't.
- 44:43Speaker 5: That's not a runaway. But but I just nobody's held
- 44:47Speaker 5: Indiana under thirty.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I don't think Miami can afford to get too touchdowns behind. No,
- 44:52Speaker 1: they can't. They can't play from from right behind, for sure. No.
- 44:56Speaker 1: I think that most they can play from behind like
- 44:59Speaker 1: seven boys.
- 45:00Speaker 6: Yeah boys, yeah, yeah yeah. If they get too much.
- 45:02Speaker 1: I don't think. I don't think James got enough.
- 45:05Speaker 6: Can Miami run.
- 45:06Speaker 1: The ball, that's a good question if they do.
- 45:08Speaker 6: I don't know that either.
- 45:10Speaker 1: The way they ran the ball against an m was very,
- 45:13Speaker 1: very oppressive, and so can they run the ball? I
- 45:17Speaker 1: don't know. I think that if the game is on
- 45:20Speaker 1: the line, I like Carson Beck's experience. I'm not saying that,
- 45:26Speaker 1: of course, I like I love Mendota's no matter what. Yes, yes,
- 45:30Speaker 1: the guys, just I mean, what are the odds anybody
- 45:35Speaker 1: can throl more touchdown passes than incomplete.
- 45:39Speaker 5: It's crazy against against playoff quality caliber teams.
- 45:45Speaker 1: How is that possible. I'll tell you that.
- 45:48Speaker 5: Fletcher kid who beat A and m he's been really good.
- 45:52Speaker 5: He's gonna have to be really good tonight. They're gonna
- 45:55Speaker 5: have to get him loose.
- 45:56Speaker 6: I think Miami is going to have to create some
- 45:58Speaker 6: turnover somehow, some way.
- 46:00Speaker 5: What you talked about is and this is a team
- 46:01Speaker 5: that doesn't turn the ball. Indiana has one fumble this year.
- 46:05Speaker 1: One is that that is it holy through.
- 46:10Speaker 8: The six Oregon? So right? So I mean Oregon, you
- 46:14Speaker 8: know I went the other way.
- 46:15Speaker 1: It was the other way. Yeah, it was the other way.
- 46:17Speaker 8: Other way. But getting back to what you said, if
- 46:20Speaker 8: they would suddenly have one or two turners, we've seen
- 46:22Speaker 8: in the NFL playoffs, it can kind of snowball when
- 46:25Speaker 8: you've never done it.
- 46:27Speaker 1: But that's pretty Stroud is not playing. How do you
- 46:31Speaker 1: react to the pressure of the moment? Right?
- 46:34Speaker 5: It's interesting because again the Hoosiers to me have been unphased.
- 46:40Speaker 1: By this moment. You know, based on everything I have seen,
- 46:43Speaker 1: ships Signetti is going to be in pissed off mode
- 46:46Speaker 1: from I mean, for the first second, it's gonna be scowling,
- 46:50Speaker 1: He's going to be scouting. He's gonna be like an
- 46:53Speaker 1: all time scout. He's not gonna. I mean, hey, curs
- 46:57Speaker 1: ball ain't much better. No, he's not. But Signetti is
- 47:01Speaker 1: in his own class when it comes to then looking
- 47:04Speaker 1: like he's up by twenty one and he looks like
- 47:06Speaker 1: he's gonna eat somebody, He's gonna tear into somebody's butt.
- 47:13Speaker 8: Well, you know, it's it's also those times, those guys
- 47:16Speaker 8: first time to be in the National championship game.
- 47:18Speaker 1: That's my point, and what will you eat our team?
- 47:21Speaker 8: You know we're talking twenty years from yea, yeah, third
- 47:23Speaker 8: and one at the twenty six, you know, you know
- 47:27Speaker 8: it gets.
- 47:28Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 47:28Speaker 5: Signetti doesn't strike me as a guy will be saying
- 47:32Speaker 5: tomorrow that was a horrible decision on his part, right
- 47:37Speaker 5: because he really he hasn't made many of those either.
- 47:41Speaker 6: You know, I watched the NFL game last night.
- 47:45Speaker 1: The Bears and the Rams and coaches got to get
- 47:48Speaker 1: out of their own way sometimes because the analytics say
- 47:51Speaker 1: to go for it, go for go. We talked about
- 47:53Speaker 1: this all the time. Sometimes you just need to kick
- 47:55Speaker 1: the field goal, yes, like you got to get the
- 47:56Speaker 1: points down there. You know, in hindsight, the Bears just
- 48:00Speaker 1: would have not gone for it all night long. They
- 48:04Speaker 1: would have won the game. So I think Miami's got
- 48:06Speaker 1: to be really smart. If they get in the field
- 48:09Speaker 1: goal range, they got to take points whenever they can.
- 48:11Speaker 1: And that's that's still my thing. That's my point. I mean,
- 48:19Speaker 1: my thing is tomorrow, what's the likelihood we'll be talking
- 48:24Speaker 1: about a bad decision that crystal Ball made it a
- 48:27Speaker 1: key moment versus Signetti a key moment. He nailed it.
- 48:30Speaker 1: I think the chances are a lot stronger than in
- 48:34Speaker 1: my mind they are.
- 48:35Speaker 8: I remember, I think it was a high a state game.
- 48:38Speaker 8: They could increase their lead near the end of the
- 48:39Speaker 8: half if they'd just gone ahead and run the ball
- 48:42Speaker 8: and take a field goal. But Beck got sacked and
- 48:44Speaker 8: they got out of field goal range, and they didn't
- 48:46Speaker 8: come back to haunt them because.
- 48:49Speaker 1: I can't remember what the dumb thing he did against SMU,
- 48:51Speaker 1: But there was one thing I can't It was something
- 48:54Speaker 1: that really was like, no, you can't do it.
- 48:56Speaker 8: Bring up a good point. Ship If I'm betting he made.
- 48:58Speaker 5: Dumay, he made dump thisison just notre dame and still
- 49:02Speaker 5: you know, live to tell about it.
- 49:03Speaker 8: You're right, Yeah, you're right, that's how good talent wise.
- 49:06Speaker 1: True is true. I mean they have overcome some terrible face.
- 49:10Speaker 1: And that's what I was looking at because, you know,
- 49:13Speaker 1: seeing the the analysts said there's a lot more NFL
- 49:17Speaker 1: talent on Miami than there is interesting and I was like, wow,
- 49:20Speaker 1: I can't imagine. Okay that that doesn't surprise me.
- 49:23Speaker 5: Because they had that list that we talked about when
- 49:26Speaker 5: the playoffs again, yeah, the Oregon had fifty five of them, right,
- 49:31Speaker 5: and Indiana had eight, but no five stars.
- 49:34Speaker 1: They had eight four stars and Oregon had fifty five
- 49:38Speaker 1: five and four stars, right. Yeah, So that kind of
- 49:42Speaker 1: stuff that impresses me. You have to have talent and
- 49:46Speaker 1: organ I mean Indiana has talent. Obviously, Indiana get pressed.
- 49:50Speaker 1: You know, they have a bit. They have it not
- 49:53Speaker 1: since the Penn State game, right, they have was pretty close,
- 49:58Speaker 1: but it wasn't I mean that were pressed.
- 50:00Speaker 6: Yeah in the Big Ten Championship game.
- 50:02Speaker 8: Yes, once. On one hand you have Michael Irvin talking
- 50:06Speaker 8: into Crystal Ball's ear. On the other one, I got
- 50:10Speaker 8: Mark Cuban.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Talking to Okay, I saw that.
- 50:16Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I don't I don't want to that, No, No,
- 50:20Speaker 5: I don't need but that was funny it was pretty
- 50:22Speaker 5: funny with her. He was going to run but in
- 50:24Speaker 5: New York City, but to Florida, but we we had uh.
- 50:28Speaker 5: Mendoz was asked about Irvin on the sideline and he said, hey,
- 50:32Speaker 5: we love it.
- 50:33Speaker 1: He brings us juice. Man, he's up and down the sideline,
- 50:36Speaker 1: he's yelling, he's hunging people.
- 50:39Speaker 5: He goes, we we like that. Now he maybe he does,
- 50:43Speaker 5: maybe he doesn't, but he was. He seemed pretty straightforward.
- 50:47Speaker 5: It was a quick answer to the you know a question.
- 50:50Speaker 9: No uh uh.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Mendoza said that the player.
- 50:54Speaker 8: Yeah so, but irs on the other side, so it
- 50:57Speaker 8: doesn't matter. So yeah, let'm do what he wants to.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Michael Irvin has lost his mind. That I can say, Man,
- 51:05Speaker 1: he's crazy.
- 51:06Speaker 6: That guy is crazy.
- 51:07Speaker 8: But he's in the National Championship game.
- 51:09Speaker 9: You're not.
- 51:10Speaker 1: But I'll say this that if you look it up,
- 51:13Speaker 1: that's that's a funny three or four minutes of.
- 51:15Speaker 8: I'm I said the same thing today, So I guess
- 51:18Speaker 8: I need to look at that.
- 51:19Speaker 5: Yeah, so again I'm going to go back the over
- 51:22Speaker 5: under because I that just surprised me. Right, well, I
- 51:26Speaker 5: mean we have two good defenses, right, Both teams are
- 51:29Speaker 5: good defensively.
- 51:30Speaker 8: But if it gets to I think it's touched on
- 51:32Speaker 8: what you said. Guys have said. If if Inyany gets
- 51:35Speaker 8: a nermly lead, I think Miami's in trouble because then
- 51:37Speaker 8: they're going to have to try to do things they
- 51:40Speaker 8: normally don't want to do. In Indiana is a really
- 51:42Speaker 8: good defense. People don't. That's a good defense. So then
- 51:46Speaker 8: I think it get out of hand.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Beck's done a really good job in the playoffs taking
- 51:50Speaker 1: care of the football he has. He has not thrown
- 51:52Speaker 1: those Similars picks he had he has season and so
- 51:56Speaker 1: I mean I think his experience gives him an advantage.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Becka's has been off and on, kind of right, like
- 52:06Speaker 1: hot and cold. Oh.
- 52:08Speaker 5: I don't think he was good at all against and
- 52:11Speaker 5: he wasn't. He wasn't great in the semifinals until he
- 52:15Speaker 5: had to be. He made three throws on that final
- 52:20Speaker 5: drive that were NFL caliber, big time passes right.
- 52:25Speaker 1: And good decisions on the run, good decisions the touchdown right.
- 52:30Speaker 1: But my point is he can't wait till the fourth
- 52:34Speaker 1: quarter against his team to do that.
- 52:36Speaker 5: He has to do that consistently in my mind throughout
- 52:40Speaker 5: the game, and I the way Mendoz's played.
- 52:44Speaker 1: I don't expect anything less from him tonight.
- 52:48Speaker 8: The homefield advantage mean anything, you guys know, because I
- 52:51Speaker 8: don't think there is one.
- 52:52Speaker 1: I don't think there is.
- 52:53Speaker 5: I think it's going to be about fifty to fifty
- 52:56Speaker 5: and we I think I mentioned this.
- 52:58Speaker 1: I saw an article by the secondar and I'm looking
- 53:02Speaker 1: at all the orange on.
- 53:03Speaker 5: That side, but but that it could be as much
- 53:07Speaker 5: as sixty forty Indiana, Wow, you know the get in
- 53:11Speaker 5: price tonight was up to thirty four hundred.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Was that right? Trade for thirty four hundred? Well, all
- 53:18Speaker 1: their fans have degrees in Miami's done.
- 53:22Speaker 8: Wow, they got ninety eight.
- 53:25Speaker 1: Degrees unless the sociography. They had some smart people doing that.
- 53:30Speaker 1: So Indian I was going to figure out how to
- 53:32Speaker 1: get in the same.
- 53:33Speaker 8: Same Columbus high school in Miami's. I get a discount
- 53:36Speaker 8: that he's going to go to the game.
- 53:38Speaker 1: So I'm wondering how many people they let on the sidelines.
- 53:43Speaker 1: I was, I'm reading this book by Body Burke, and
- 53:47Speaker 1: you know, Pete Carroll let everybody in. You know what,
- 53:51Speaker 1: Will Farrow was there, Snoop was there, all the all
- 53:54Speaker 1: the glitteradis were there? Because the Lakers were terrible. The
- 53:58Speaker 1: NFL was not there at the time.
- 54:00Speaker 5: Uh, that's all they had, right, and their star driven
- 54:04Speaker 5: place right, and so they had all these people, and
- 54:07Speaker 5: the NCAA for that game apparently had made the rules
- 54:11Speaker 5: like you, here's how many passes you have, right, you
- 54:15Speaker 5: can't have all these celebrities on the sideline. But yet
- 54:19Speaker 5: he detailed on both sides all of the celebrities that
- 54:23Speaker 5: were at that game, right on the sideline.
- 54:26Speaker 1: They go, well, somehow they got around that.
- 54:29Speaker 8: Not shocker. Pete Carroll got a rhyn the rules.
- 54:32Speaker 5: Yes, oh, another article from the Wall Street Journal will
- 54:36Speaker 5: end with this suite. Scott said it to me. And
- 54:40Speaker 5: we know that Cuban is a big donor. Guess who else,
- 54:44Speaker 5: John Cougar Melloncamp.
- 54:47Speaker 1: No, he's a Navy and a guy.
- 54:49Speaker 5: He has his own suite at the top of the
- 54:54Speaker 5: football stadium. But the suite is like a four by
- 54:59Speaker 5: four wooden box which is at the top of the state.
- 55:04Speaker 5: It's a little house that he can go and smoke
- 55:08Speaker 5: in and watch the game. And Cuban said, well, I
- 55:12Speaker 5: hadn't been invited.
- 55:13Speaker 1: No one's been invited. I think it only holds one person.
- 55:17Speaker 1: And that's him, and he goes to his personal private
- 55:22Speaker 1: little box that they built at the top of the
- 55:25Speaker 1: stadium in Indiana so he can smoke and watch the game.
- 55:30Speaker 1: I heard Jack and Di. Yes. I don't even think
- 55:34Speaker 1: he'd let Jack and die in a right guys will
- 55:40Speaker 1: say we.
