- 0:58Speaker 1: today's guest is controversial is an understatement, but the truth
- 1:02Speaker 1: is Kelly Dodd is so much more than what was
- 1:05Speaker 1: portrayed on The Real Housewives of Orange County. Kelly is
- 1:08Speaker 1: a strong woman with strong opinions, which I love. We
- 1:11Speaker 1: have that in common. She's a great mom, a loving
- 1:14Speaker 1: wife who speaks her mind. Nowadays, you can't really say
- 1:17Speaker 1: that about many people. We talked about our love story
- 1:20Speaker 1: with Rick Leventhal, Serious Couple Goals. her time on Housewives,
- 1:24Speaker 1: and who she would choose to go with on an intimate,
- 1:27Speaker 1: ultimate girls trip. Kelly Dodd-Leventhal, thank you so much for
- 2:02Speaker 1: joining us today on Misunderstood.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I love that intro. Thank you.
- 2:07Speaker 1: She had a great song. I actually had them create
- 2:11Speaker 1: that from the animals version of misunderstood. And then I
- 2:15Speaker 1: had some random person put a beat to it. I
- 2:18Speaker 1: kind of love it.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I do. I love it. That was so cute.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Thank you. So anyway, I want, I wanted to say
- 2:24Speaker 1: hello because we haven't officially seen each other since we
- 2:28Speaker 1: met in New York city, very randomly one night at dinner.
- 2:33Speaker 1: And it was like a really fun time getting to
- 2:36Speaker 1: meet you. And everybody was saying that we look like twins.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So I think that's funny. And every time I have
- 2:41Speaker 1: a picture taken of me somewhere in the comments is, wow,
- 2:44Speaker 1: you look just like Kelly Dodd.
- 2:46Speaker 2: So I get that too about you.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah. So it is, you know, an honor because you're
- 2:50Speaker 1: so beautiful.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I know. I feel the same way about you.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Um, but when I met you, you were with Jeff
- 2:57Speaker 1: Lewis and Shane and you were with, was it your cousin?
- 3:01Speaker 1: Who else were you with?
- 3:01Speaker 2: I was with my cousin and Rick.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And Rick, of course.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And her husband and Tara's husband. Right.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And it's very funny because I enjoyed your company. Obviously,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I'm friends with Jeff. I've known him for a while.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I've been on his show. But it was funny because
- 3:15Speaker 1: I listened to your podcast later when you were recapping,
- 3:20Speaker 1: you know, your whole trip to New York. And we
- 3:23Speaker 1: were all going to maybe hang out again or I
- 3:25Speaker 1: was going to hang out with your cousin.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Cousin, yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And, um, you, well, Rick had mentioned that the husband
- 3:31Speaker 1: was like, there's no way I'm letting Rachel hang out
- 3:34Speaker 1: because she's a madam. And I was just like, wait
- 3:37Speaker 1: a minute, like, where do people get this information? Which
- 3:40Speaker 1: is exactly why I have my podcast misunderstood because I
- 3:44Speaker 1: think people, as you know, read so many things about
- 3:46Speaker 1: you and they're just not true. So to clarify to
- 3:49Speaker 1: you and Rick, cause that's really all I care about.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I've never been a madam nor will I ever be.
- 3:54Speaker 2: So I would love to be a madam.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Well, we'd probably make good money because we know a
- 4:01Speaker 1: lot of hot chicks. But besides that, no, I'm not
- 4:05Speaker 1: someone you can't let around your wife or your husband. So,
- 4:08Speaker 1: you know, I just wanted to.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Clarify how people get really weirded out.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 1: It's very strange. You know, when you have a persona
- 4:19Speaker 1: and people have read about you, you know, it's hard.
- 4:22Speaker 1: You have to really attack them one person at a
- 4:24Speaker 1: time and let them get to know you. So it's
- 4:26Speaker 1: been a difficult thing for me, as I'm sure it
- 4:30Speaker 1: is for you.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Exactly. I like that. It's understood. Yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Um, so you were with Jeff Lewis and I just
- 4:38Speaker 1: wanted to ask you a question about that. Cause there's
- 4:39Speaker 1: been like all sorts of drama in the news. I
- 4:41Speaker 1: know you're friends with Jeff, but aren't you also friends
- 4:44Speaker 1: with Heather McDonald?
- 4:46Speaker 2: I am.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So I am too. I think they're both great individually,
- 4:49Speaker 1: but like, how do you feel like you have to
- 4:51Speaker 1: take a side on this drama? It's so interesting that
- 4:54Speaker 1: this podcast drama has become sort of a mainstream entertainment
- 4:58Speaker 1: news thing. thing.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 5:00Speaker 1: So how do you take sides on that? Or do
- 5:02Speaker 1: you not at all?
- 5:03Speaker 2: I don't take sides. I try not to, you know, um,
- 5:08Speaker 2: there's just always, you just can't not, you know, not
- 5:11Speaker 2: when you have friends, you can't take sides. And, and
- 5:15Speaker 2: if somebody is like, Oh, take my side or else,
- 5:17Speaker 2: you know, uh, I think that's immature.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Yeah. But so you're, you have no problem going on
- 5:23Speaker 1: Jeff show. Cause you and Rick were just on Jeff show.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And then I assume you'll have no problem going on
- 5:26Speaker 1: Heather show.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I don't know. Heather has never had me on her show. Oh,
- 5:32Speaker 2: she had me on her show. Uh, what? 10 years ago.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I don't know. She's not interested. I don't know. Uh,
- 5:41Speaker 2: Rick asked Heather, if we could be on her show
- 5:45Speaker 2: to promote his book, chasing catastrophes. And she was like, yeah, no,
- 5:51Speaker 2: I only have comedians on. I think that she just, um,
- 5:56Speaker 2: doesn't want to be political in any sort of way. And,
- 6:00Speaker 2: you know, I think she feels like uncomfortable that way,
- 6:03Speaker 2: I guess, I'm guessing. So- I understand. Okay.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Well, so actually I want to get into that a
- 6:10Speaker 1: little because, you know, in doing my research of you,
- 6:13Speaker 1: you are someone who is quite controversial. I don't think
- 6:16Speaker 1: that's a surprise to you. And so I really wanted
- 6:19Speaker 1: to ask you, like, what are your feelings about that,
- 6:22Speaker 1: that you, you know, are so outspoken? How does that
- 6:26Speaker 1: feel to be outspoken? You know, obviously that's gotten you
- 6:30Speaker 1: in trouble, but it's, you're obviously saying how you feel.
- 6:33Speaker 1: So what is that like?
- 6:35Speaker 2: Well, I mean, it cost me my job, cost me,
- 6:40Speaker 2: you know, a bit, I was making quite a bit
- 6:43Speaker 2: of money and, uh, you know, I feel like I
- 6:48Speaker 2: have integrity. I don't regret it because, you know, I'm,
- 6:53Speaker 2: I'm real and I'm authentic. And, uh, I just wanted
- 6:57Speaker 2: the best for our country. And, you know, I wanted, I,
- 7:01Speaker 2: I hated the mandates. I hated the, you know, the mask,
- 7:06Speaker 2: the vaccines, all of that stuff. I wanted businesses to thrive.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I wanted my daughter to go to school. I didn't
- 7:12Speaker 2: want to have to have her to wear a mask
- 7:14Speaker 2: all day long. I was very outspoken about that. And,
- 7:17Speaker 2: you know, Bravo is woke and they were pushing, you know,
- 7:22Speaker 2: the BLM thing. I wore a Drunk Wives Matter hat
- 7:25Speaker 2: and I didn't even buy the hat. It was given
- 7:27Speaker 2: to me at my wedding shower. It was a play
- 7:29Speaker 2: on words. And they're like, you're mocking the BLM. And look,
- 7:33Speaker 2: now the BLM was full of crap. And so I
- 7:38Speaker 2: feel like in time, Andy Cohen said that I was
- 7:43Speaker 2: on the wrong side of history. I feel like I've
- 7:45Speaker 2: been vindicated. I feel like, you know, that Black Lives
- 7:48Speaker 2: Matter was a bunch of BS, a bunch of con
- 7:51Speaker 2: artists running that group. You know, the vaccines, you know,
- 7:58Speaker 2: didn't work.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Masks.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Didn't work. And, you know, I, I feel like I'm authentic.
- 8:05Speaker 2: It feels good to be able to say and do
- 8:09Speaker 2: what you want and, and not care where everybody on
- 8:15Speaker 2: that show on housewives is scared. They're scared for their job.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Well, it's interesting that you say that, though, because I
- 8:20Speaker 1: feel like so much of that show is based on
- 8:23Speaker 1: controversy or kicking up something to talk about or argue about.
- 8:28Speaker 1: So I would have thought that that was something that
- 8:31Speaker 1: made you different. You know, there are plenty of people
- 8:34Speaker 1: that don't agree with you. There are plenty of people
- 8:35Speaker 1: that do agree with you. So that's reality, right? I mean,
- 8:39Speaker 1: that's what it seems like to me.
- 8:40Speaker 2: If you're a criminal, you can stay on that show.
- 8:44Speaker 2: If you get arrested and you do things against the law...
- 8:48Speaker 2: you can stay on that show. But if you have any,
- 8:52Speaker 2: you know, any political differences, you know, it's like, it's
- 8:55Speaker 2: that group as the tolerant group, it's the most intolerant group. So,
- 9:00Speaker 2: you know, I mean, you know, I have a lot
- 9:05Speaker 2: of fans that support me. You know, I have a
- 9:08Speaker 2: big following and it makes me feel good. You know,
- 9:10Speaker 2: like I don't have to rely on Bravo and Bravo's
- 9:14Speaker 2: paycheck to pay my bills. I, you know, we do
- 9:17Speaker 2: it ourselves.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Well, I know you get interviewed so much about Bravo.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I actually, my show is not about reality TV. So
- 9:23Speaker 1: I will get to that in a second, just to
- 9:25Speaker 1: ask you a few questions. But I really want to
- 9:27Speaker 1: know more about like you, your road to there. Like
- 9:31Speaker 1: what was teenage Kelly Dodd like? Were you outspoken? What
- 9:34Speaker 1: did you want to be for a living? Tell me
- 9:37Speaker 1: about yourself.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I went to St. Mary's High School. I was a
- 9:41Speaker 2: cheerleader there. I was the captain of cheerleading. I was
- 9:45Speaker 2: homecoming queen. I was very, very popular. And I was
- 9:50Speaker 2: very popular, just not at my Catholic high school, but
- 9:53Speaker 2: at the public high school. And I had a lot
- 9:55Speaker 2: of cousins that went to different schools. So I was
- 9:59Speaker 2: pretty well-known. around Scottsdale, Arizona back then. And I went
- 10:05Speaker 2: to ASU. I was dating a professional football player, athlete,
- 10:11Speaker 2: went to play for the NFL. I hung out with
- 10:14Speaker 2: all those guys. it was a big time, like back
- 10:17Speaker 2: in the day was a Jetson six where Dan Marley and,
- 10:20Speaker 2: you know, I was friends with Tina Marley and we
- 10:23Speaker 2: would just go out and have, you know, a good time.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Like I was in that, that scene. Then I got
- 10:29Speaker 2: married at 28 and moved to San Francisco and had
- 10:34Speaker 2: a baby at 30. I had my daughter, Julie, and
- 10:37Speaker 2: I couldn't stay in San Francisco anymore because of the politics.
- 10:39Speaker 2: And it was just, was it my, was it my scene?
- 10:44Speaker 2: Was it my jam? And so I moved to Newport
- 10:47Speaker 2: Beach because Newport Beach is a lot like Scottsdale, but
- 10:50Speaker 2: with better weather. So, and then I, I, I got a,
- 10:54Speaker 2: I had a job in advertising.
- 10:56Speaker 5: The car is beautiful. Where did you end up going
- 10:59Speaker 5: for it?
- 10:59Speaker 3: This exclusive place that Dad has connections with. They have
- 11:02Speaker 3: more cars for more dealerships than like anywhere else.
- 11:05Speaker 5: You have to put me in touch. What's it called?
- 11:07Speaker 6: It's Dune ADL.
- 11:09Speaker 5: Where? Dune ADL.
- 11:12Speaker 6: There's an accent on the E.
- 11:15Speaker 5: Do you mean.
- 11:15Speaker 6: Yes, I got it on Done Deal Cars.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Lyft? Please.
- 11:19Speaker 5: You're going past Kimmage?
- 11:20Speaker 2: Oh, Kimmage. No.
- 11:22Speaker 6: Done Deal Cars.
- 11:23Speaker 4: You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Working for the Orange County Register because I worked in
- 11:29Speaker 2: advertising in Arizona and one of my bosses was the
- 11:32Speaker 2: VP there. So my ex-husband was the COO of Leapfrog
- 11:38Speaker 2: Educational Toys and I wanted to work and I wanted
- 11:40Speaker 2: to move there and he let me. And then when
- 11:44Speaker 2: I moved, then I filed for divorce. So, and then
- 11:49Speaker 2: I met Rick at Ramona's.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Well, before we get into Rick, cause I want to
- 11:53Speaker 1: ask all about that love story, but how did you
- 11:56Speaker 1: even get involved in the housewives? How did you, how
- 11:59Speaker 1: did they find out about you?
- 12:01Speaker 2: Well, when I was, so I was engaged to this
- 12:05Speaker 2: guy named Jeff and he was very, very wealthy and
- 12:09Speaker 2: they called me and they said hey do you want
- 12:13Speaker 2: to uh interview for the housewives and i have you
- 12:18Speaker 2: know i knew vicky because we have the same uh
- 12:20Speaker 2: we go to avaji and we'd have the same facialist
- 12:25Speaker 2: and so i would see her in there so i
- 12:27Speaker 2: knew we knew each other i lived in newport all
- 12:30Speaker 2: those girls lived in coda which was far so i
- 12:32Speaker 2: you know we didn't really hang out in the same
- 12:34Speaker 2: circles but they asked me to interview And Jeff like
- 12:37Speaker 2: kind of pushed me. Yes. Do it, do it, do it.
- 12:40Speaker 2: They told me I got the job. And when Michael,
- 12:45Speaker 2: my ex said, no, you can't have Jolie be on there.
- 12:49Speaker 2: They're like, okay, fine. And they picked Lydia. I think
- 12:52Speaker 2: that was like, like season nine. I want to say
- 12:57Speaker 2: they picked Lydia over me at the last minute. And
- 13:00Speaker 2: then I got back together with Michael. I dumped that guy.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I went back together with Michael. They called me again
- 13:08Speaker 2: and then they hired me. Wow.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Okay. And, and Jolie was still off the table.
- 13:14Speaker 2: She, she didn't, she wasn't, she's 17. She's a senior
- 13:18Speaker 2: at high school, but at the time she was in
- 13:21Speaker 2: third grade.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Oh, she was little.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 1: And so, and what was the interview process like?
- 13:29Speaker 2: Oh God, it was, it was hard. Like it was,
- 13:33Speaker 2: so they wouldn't, they interviewed you like four or five times.
- 13:36Speaker 2: You had to go see, you know, they asked you
- 13:38Speaker 2: about your, your, your, they wanted to see your house.
- 13:40Speaker 2: They wanted to see your family dynamics. They asked you
- 13:43Speaker 2: a bunch of questions. They did like some test stuff
- 13:47Speaker 2: on you. And then, and then, and then they offered
- 13:52Speaker 2: you a contract. Right.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And so were you excited about this? Like, what were
- 13:56Speaker 1: you like, I don't really want to do it. Did
- 13:58Speaker 1: you know what you're getting into?
- 13:59Speaker 2: Well, my daughter really wanted me to do it. She
- 14:02Speaker 2: pushed me. She was like, mommy, I want, you know,
- 14:04Speaker 2: she was, she was into all that stuff when she
- 14:06Speaker 2: was little. She was like into like the Thunderdomes and like,
- 14:09Speaker 2: like the Selena Gomez. And she was like, you know,
- 14:13Speaker 2: she was into acting and she wanted to be on TV.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:19Speaker 2: And so now she hates it, but yeah. When she
- 14:23Speaker 2: was little, she wanted to be, you know, be a
- 14:25Speaker 2: part of that. Wait, what was your question again?
- 14:30Speaker 1: About what your, how it was getting into it and
- 14:33Speaker 1: the interview process and if you wanted to do it.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 2: And so, you know, and then I'm like, God, this
- 14:39Speaker 2: will be fun. This will be a fun thing to do.
- 14:43Speaker 2: You get paid, you go, you know, travel all over.
- 14:46Speaker 2: You know, there's perks. There's a lot of good, like
- 14:49Speaker 2: great benefits by being on the show. There's a lot
- 14:51Speaker 2: of bad ones. but there's a lot of good things,
- 14:54Speaker 2: you know? You get to travel and it's a fun,
- 14:59Speaker 2: it's a fun gig.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Yeah. So they had called me, you know, in New
- 15:03Speaker 1: York and I guess they were at their short list.
- 15:06Speaker 1: And for whatever reason, my name came up and they
- 15:08Speaker 1: asked me to be on it. They did a couple interviews,
- 15:11Speaker 1: asked me, like you're saying, to show pictures of my
- 15:13Speaker 1: house and tell them about my business, my daughter, whatever.
- 15:17Speaker 1: And Leah got picked. This is for Housewives of New York.
- 15:20Speaker 1: So I guess it ended up being between us and
- 15:22Speaker 1: Leah got it.
- 15:23Speaker 2: And she ruined the show, FYI. They should have picked you.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Thanks. So anyway, but I, you know, it's interesting because
- 15:34Speaker 1: when people heard later, I'm talking, you know, years later
- 15:37Speaker 1: that I was someone that they had considered, I think
- 15:42Speaker 1: page six ran something. And then, you know, of course
- 15:44Speaker 1: it got picked up everywhere. Um, the attention I got
- 15:49Speaker 1: just for the notoriety that I might be someone on
- 15:53Speaker 1: the housewives was crazy. People started sending me free stuff.
- 15:56Speaker 1: People were contacting me. My followers rose by like 50,000
- 16:00Speaker 1: out of nowhere. So I want to know from you
- 16:03Speaker 1: what that was like to go from like a regular
- 16:05Speaker 1: person to all of a more famous than some Hollywood actors.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I mean, the Bravo celebrity is such a big deal
- 16:13Speaker 1: and people get really nuts about this. And also not
- 16:16Speaker 1: only that, they think they know you, right? So talk
- 16:19Speaker 1: to me about that.
- 16:20Speaker 2: My friend, don't I know you? You know, it was really,
- 16:24Speaker 2: really wild because like I was friends with Vicky and
- 16:28Speaker 2: we would go to like Chicago. We would go to
- 16:31Speaker 2: New York and the amount of people when I first
- 16:34Speaker 2: met her, going on those airplanes, people got to stop.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Like she was like Michael Jackson. It was like, wow. Like,
- 16:43Speaker 2: is this for real? Like people are, and then people
- 16:47Speaker 2: are stopping me. It was a really weird thing to, to,
- 16:52Speaker 2: to come by. Like, you know, people stopping you and
- 16:56Speaker 2: Rick goes, God, I can't believe how famous you are.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Like how many, he's like, I've been on TV for
- 17:02Speaker 2: 35 years. And this one show, People stop you like
- 17:07Speaker 2: crazy and they know you and they'll be like, oh
- 17:10Speaker 2: my God, you're my friend, right? Or I recognize you
- 17:12Speaker 2: by your voice. I get that a lot. Or you're
- 17:15Speaker 2: prettier in person than you are on TV. And I
- 17:18Speaker 2: get that constantly. And I'm like, it's just weird. It's
- 17:24Speaker 2: weird having people see. And then you'll get like, I
- 17:27Speaker 2: saw you at this restaurant, but I was too scared
- 17:30Speaker 2: to say hi. And I'm just a regular person. I'm
- 17:33Speaker 2: not like... But yeah, having that fame right away was weird.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Right. Now, did you go into it thinking you wanted
- 17:43Speaker 1: to have a product or something you wanted to sell?
- 17:46Speaker 1: I mean, what was your impetus for going on it?
- 17:48Speaker 2: Well, I think my business for going on it was
- 17:51Speaker 2: really to leave Michael. I had a plan to set up. So...
- 17:58Speaker 2: Get divorced.
- 17:59Speaker 1: And it was giving you an income that wasn't based
- 18:02Speaker 1: on a man.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Right. Right. So that's, I mean, that's the truth be told. Yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Well, that's a good reason, I guess. And so I
- 18:12Speaker 1: heard on your podcast with, with Rick, you were talking
- 18:15Speaker 1: recently actually about the fact that it costs you so
- 18:18Speaker 1: much money to be on the show. I don't think
- 18:19Speaker 1: a lot of people might understand that. It's like, you
- 18:23Speaker 1: guys are paying for your glam squad. You guys are
- 18:25Speaker 1: paying for a lot of stuff, right?
- 18:27Speaker 2: The only thing we, the glam squad is when we're
- 18:29Speaker 2: doing those confessionals. That's the only time, but yeah, it's,
- 18:33Speaker 2: very very costly to to do this show i mean
- 18:37Speaker 2: the clothes you know how it is the makeup the
- 18:40Speaker 2: products the i mean even the parties you know it's
- 18:45Speaker 2: even like i was talking to shannon when she was
- 18:47Speaker 2: doing um that thing at my girlfriend's house at huntington
- 18:50Speaker 2: beach she's like i had to put that i had
- 18:52Speaker 2: to pay for that all that she got all the
- 18:54Speaker 2: decorations and they paid for the food evolution but i
- 18:59Speaker 2: but she had to put it out in her own money.
- 19:03Speaker 2: It's things like that, that it's costly. Right.
- 19:06Speaker 1: So, and I don't think, well, I found it interesting
- 19:09Speaker 1: that you were somebody who really seemed to be the
- 19:11Speaker 1: same person from the first season all the way through.
- 19:15Speaker 1: There are so many people that start their first season
- 19:17Speaker 1: and then by the second season have completely changed. Either
- 19:20Speaker 1: they're getting... facial reconstruction or they're all of a sudden
- 19:24Speaker 1: their wardrobe is completely different. Um, you know, you really
- 19:28Speaker 1: seem to be somebody who remained who you were throughout
- 19:32Speaker 1: the entire time you were on that. Do you feel
- 19:35Speaker 1: like that's true?
- 19:36Speaker 2: I do. I feel like I'm the same. Yeah. I
- 19:38Speaker 2: feel like I'm the same. I haven't, you know, most
- 19:40Speaker 2: of them have all had baselifts and, you know, uh,
- 19:45Speaker 2: their hair is different. Like Gina always has a facelift.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Shannon looks like a completely different person. I think Vicky
- 19:54Speaker 2: has stayed kind of the same. I mean, I guess
- 19:56Speaker 2: she's had a lot of changes too.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Well, Vicky looks better actually. I mean, not in a
- 20:00Speaker 1: crazy way.
- 20:01Speaker 2: She looks more- Vicky looks better. Vicky looks prettier now
- 20:04Speaker 2: at 60 than she did in her 40s.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yeah, she really does. Okay, and I guess we have
- 20:11Speaker 1: to talk about this for a second, about this whole
- 20:13Speaker 1: reality reckoning that's become, you know, popular for everyone to
- 20:17Speaker 1: talk about. What are your thoughts on how you were treated?
- 20:21Speaker 1: Were you made to do certain things? Do you feel
- 20:24Speaker 1: like you were, you know, someone who was abused or
- 20:27Speaker 1: forced to do anything on the set? What are your
- 20:29Speaker 1: thoughts on the whole thing?
- 20:31Speaker 2: I don't understand that thing that Bethany is doing because...
- 20:36Speaker 2: I can tell you right now, and trust me, I
- 20:39Speaker 2: could be a total disgruntled employee because I was fired
- 20:42Speaker 2: for my politics, okay? But I can tell you right now,
- 20:47Speaker 2: they never told me to say anything. They never told
- 20:50Speaker 2: me to drink. They never told me what to do.
- 20:53Speaker 2: We were already drinkers to begin with. So they provided
- 20:57Speaker 2: the alcohol for us, but they never said, hey, get drunk,
- 21:00Speaker 2: start drinking. I never experienced that in my life. I
- 21:05Speaker 2: don't understand. Do they encourage it? Like you have a
- 21:09Speaker 2: good time? Yeah. But they never said, they never forced
- 21:12Speaker 2: it down your throat. They never told you to drink. Yeah.
- 21:16Speaker 1: And don't you think it's true? I mean, I haven't,
- 21:18Speaker 1: I've been on two reality shows, nothing to the extreme
- 21:21Speaker 1: that you've been on, but I know that everyone sort
- 21:23Speaker 1: of makes the excuse.
- 21:24Speaker 5: The car is beautiful. Where did you end up going
- 21:27Speaker 5: for it?
- 21:27Speaker 3: This exclusive place that Dad has connections with. They have
- 21:30Speaker 3: more cars for more dealerships than like anywhere else.
- 21:33Speaker 5: You have to put me in touch. What's it called?
- 21:35Speaker 6: It's Dune ADL.
- 21:37Speaker 5: Where?
- 21:39Speaker 6: Dunaidial. There's an accent on the E.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Do you mean.
- 21:43Speaker 6: Yes, I got it on Dundale Cars.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Lift? Please.
- 21:46Speaker 5: Are you going past Kimmage?
- 21:48Speaker 6: Oh, Kimmage.
- 21:49Speaker 2: No.
- 21:50Speaker 6: Dundale Cars.
- 21:51Speaker 4: You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Well, there's all this editing at the end and it's
- 21:56Speaker 1: totally different. I don't find that to be true. I mean,
- 21:59Speaker 1: I know who I am and I know how I act.
- 22:01Speaker 1: You cannot make someone look completely the opposite of who
- 22:04Speaker 1: they are. I mean, I take full responsibility for everything
- 22:07Speaker 1: I do. And of course, they can take things out
- 22:08Speaker 1: of context. But if you act like an asshole or
- 22:11Speaker 1: if you act like a drunk or sex-craved person, they're
- 22:15Speaker 1: not going to be able to edit that from someone
- 22:16Speaker 1: who's very Christian and is completely straight-laced. So Hair thinning

- 25:24Speaker 1: the next two Two months. HelloFresh. It's America's number one
- 25:30Speaker 1: meal kit.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Yes, but they can edit you in a good way.
- 25:34Speaker 2: For instance, Gina Kirchenheier. She was a drunk. She was
- 25:38Speaker 2: a mess. They didn't even show half of the stuff,
- 25:43Speaker 2: how she behaved. And they made her look good for
- 25:47Speaker 2: years and years and years. They never edited that.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Why do you think they did that?
- 25:52Speaker 2: I don't know why they even like her. I find
- 25:55Speaker 2: her so boring. I don't find her at all interesting. I,
- 25:58Speaker 2: I mean, I don't, she's cute. She's pretty, but her
- 26:03Speaker 2: voice is like annoying. She's with the dud of a boyfriend. She,
- 26:08Speaker 2: you know, she has six kids living in a two
- 26:11Speaker 2: bedroom condo. I mean, there's nothing that I find interesting
- 26:15Speaker 2: in that, that girl. And we all of us used
- 26:19Speaker 2: to say, how does she get a good edit? Yeah.
- 26:23Speaker 2: It's like, they, they, they keep like, you know, they
- 26:26Speaker 2: came after Elizabeth. She came after Elizabeth Vargas.
- 26:28Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Yeah. They never put that in there. I mean, she's
- 26:30Speaker 2: never had a party. She had, she's been on that
- 26:32Speaker 2: show five years. She's never had a, she had one
- 26:35Speaker 2: party in the five years. Like she offers nothing to
- 26:39Speaker 2: that show.
- 26:41Speaker 1: So in that vein of conversation, like what do you
- 26:44Speaker 1: think about Bravo's casting job? I mean, I know that
- 26:47Speaker 1: they try to pretend that you guys are friends to
- 26:49Speaker 1: make it look authentic, especially with the fact that this
- 26:51Speaker 1: new New York cast has come out and they did
- 26:54Speaker 1: a whole new.
- 26:54Speaker 2: I love that new New York cast. You do? Oh yeah.
- 26:58Speaker 2: I'm like obsessed.
- 26:59Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Who's your favorite?
- 27:03Speaker 2: I like Erin.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 27:06Speaker 2: She's my favorite. Yeah.
- 27:08Speaker 1: And- And do you feel like it's true that they
- 27:10Speaker 1: always have to have a villain? They always have to
- 27:12Speaker 1: have a hero. They have to have somebody down the middle.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Like what are your thoughts on their casting?
- 27:17Speaker 2: You know, I, I don't know. I, I, I like,
- 27:22Speaker 2: I like it authentic. I like real relationships. I don't
- 27:27Speaker 2: like this four step like on Orange County. I find
- 27:30Speaker 2: it to be fake and contrived and I don't like it.
- 27:36Speaker 2: You know, I think, I mean, Like, I think they've
- 27:40Speaker 2: gotten away from the housewives, you know, earlier days you
- 27:45Speaker 2: saw the families and the kids and the parents, and
- 27:49Speaker 2: it was more kind of wholesome and it was more
- 27:52Speaker 2: about the families and like what's going on in the
- 27:55Speaker 2: family dynamics.
- 27:56Speaker 1: And now it's like fighting at lunch.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Now it's like going into, it's the same formula, right? Yeah.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Going fighting at lunch with the girls. Yeah. I find
- 28:06Speaker 2: it to be the same formula and I find it
- 28:08Speaker 2: to be kind of boring to be quite honest. You know,
- 28:12Speaker 2: it's like, do I have to sit through another lunch
- 28:14Speaker 2: and watch them fight or an argument or because, you know,
- 28:19Speaker 2: that's not how really it is. I mean, I don't
- 28:21Speaker 2: fight with my girlfriends like that.
- 28:23Speaker 1: No, of course not. So do you feel like you
- 28:26Speaker 1: made any real relationships on that show?
- 28:29Speaker 2: I was really, really good friends with Shannon and, for
- 28:32Speaker 2: a long time. Um, but we're trying to make amends.
- 28:35Speaker 2: She was supposed to have lunch with her this week.
- 28:37Speaker 2: And then, you know, obviously you heard about the DUI. Uh,
- 28:40Speaker 2: I was, um, you know, Vicki and I were really
- 28:43Speaker 2: good friends. We had a falling out and then she
- 28:45Speaker 2: called me when she got fired and we're, we are
- 28:49Speaker 2: good friends. Um, I was really never good friends with,
- 28:54Speaker 2: I mean, I liked Emily and I liked Gina, but
- 28:57Speaker 2: we were never friends. Like they, they live, I just
- 29:00Speaker 2: don't have really anything in common with them. You know
- 29:02Speaker 2: what I mean? Um, you know, they live far away.
- 29:06Speaker 2: They don't, they don't travel like I do. They don't
- 29:11Speaker 2: have the, like the clothes that I have, like they
- 29:13Speaker 2: don't have it's like you and i because we have
- 29:17Speaker 2: we have similar tastes we have a similar vibe we
- 29:19Speaker 2: have the same you know i don't have that with
- 29:21Speaker 2: them they're that they're not my speed um tamra i
- 29:25Speaker 2: was friendly with and then we got in a fight
- 29:29Speaker 2: um i find her to be a different person uh
- 29:34Speaker 2: she's like mr jekyll mr hyde so i'm not friends
- 29:36Speaker 2: with her anymore i am good friends with ramona uh
- 29:41Speaker 2: she's you know she's my speed she's my type that's
- 29:45Speaker 2: it that's and that's all i'm friends with.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Right and she introduced you to your husband she did Right.
- 29:52Speaker 1: So we'll get to that in a second. And then
- 29:55Speaker 1: I know that, you know, we have to just bring
- 29:57Speaker 1: up Shannon for a second. I know you've talked about
- 29:59Speaker 1: your feelings on your Patreon. People can go there to
- 30:02Speaker 1: listen to that, which is fine. But I just want
- 30:04Speaker 1: to be clear. You guys, you and Shannon are trying
- 30:07Speaker 1: to work out your differences. And I know in the
- 30:09Speaker 1: past you've said a lot of negative things about her.
- 30:12Speaker 1: But right now you are offering your support. You guys
- 30:15Speaker 1: dropped off.
- 30:16Speaker 2: A lot of negative things about me. I watch what
- 30:18Speaker 2: happens live.
- 30:20Speaker 1: So, well, that's true.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, she came after me. Right. And
- 30:25Speaker 2: she came after me at BravoCon. trying to appease that
- 30:29Speaker 2: woke mob. And so, you know, she's done a lot
- 30:32Speaker 2: to me and I'm just trying to defend myself here.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Yeah, no, of course. I'm not criticizing you for that.
- 30:38Speaker 1: But my point was, is that during this hard time
- 30:41Speaker 1: she's having, there are a lot of people that could
- 30:42Speaker 1: be jumping on the bandwagon saying, we expected this from her.
- 30:45Speaker 1: We expected her to get into an accident. She was
- 30:47Speaker 1: drinking too much. I haven't heard that from you guys.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I've heard you guys being up.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I'm just trying to give her grace at this time.
- 30:54Speaker 2: I mean, Shannon is kind of like a broken bird.
- 30:58Speaker 2: You know, she has a ton of remorse. She, I
- 31:04Speaker 2: don't want to kick somebody when they're down. And I
- 31:08Speaker 2: feel bad for her because she is a really good person.
- 31:11Speaker 2: And I know that she knows that her kids are
- 31:15Speaker 2: disappointed in her. And I think that's probably the worst thing,
- 31:20Speaker 2: you know, it's embarrassing for her. Like my daughter is
- 31:22Speaker 2: 17 and And she's called me and she's like, dude, mom,
- 31:27Speaker 2: if you ever did that, I would like disown you. Like,
- 31:30Speaker 2: you know, and I was like, oh my God, but you,
- 31:32Speaker 2: you know, I'm your mommy, you know, but she was,
- 31:35Speaker 2: that would be so embarrassing to me. And I know
- 31:39Speaker 2: that her daughters are the same age as my, my daughter,
- 31:43Speaker 2: you know, and I, I can only feel for, for Shannon.
- 31:48Speaker 2: We were like, well, she could have killed somebody and she, well,
- 31:50Speaker 2: she didn't.
- 31:52Speaker 5: The car is beautiful. Where did you end up going
- 31:55Speaker 5: for it?
- 31:55Speaker 3: This exclusive place that Dad has connections with. They have
- 31:58Speaker 3: more cars for more dealerships than like anywhere else.
- 32:01Speaker 5: You have to put me in touch. What's it called?
- 32:03Speaker 6: It's Dune ADL.
- 32:05Speaker 5: Where? Dune ADL.
- 32:08Speaker 6: There's an accent on the E.
- 32:11Speaker 5: Do you mean?
- 32:12Speaker 6: Yes, I got it on Dune Deal cars.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Lyft?
- 32:13Speaker 5: Lyft?
- 32:14Speaker 2: Please.
- 32:15Speaker 5: You're going past Kimmage.
- 32:16Speaker 6: Oh, Kimmage.
- 32:17Speaker 2: No.
- 32:19Speaker 6: Done deal cars.
- 32:19Speaker 4: You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
- 32:21Speaker 2: I hate when people do that. She didn't kill anybody. Right. Right.
- 32:29Speaker 1: And and frankly, I mean, yes, there could have been
- 32:32Speaker 1: a lot of a lot worse things that happened. Nothing
- 32:35Speaker 1: bad did happen. Thank God. And, you know, hopefully this
- 32:39Speaker 1: will be some sort of wake up call for her
- 32:41Speaker 1: if she chooses and if she needs one. But not
- 32:43Speaker 1: only that, I think, as you and I both know,
- 32:46Speaker 1: when something that you do happens, that's embarrassing, or you
- 32:49Speaker 1: make a bad decision, that's something that we live with anyways.
- 32:52Speaker 1: And we have to deal with our family who's judging
- 32:54Speaker 1: us for it or giving us all the time. But
- 32:56Speaker 1: then when the rest of the world is piling on
- 32:58Speaker 1: and talking about it and making criticisms, making judgments, taking
- 33:02Speaker 1: their things that they're triggered by out on you, it's
- 33:05Speaker 1: even more difficult. So I can only imagine what she's
- 33:09Speaker 1: going through in her head, feeling horrified, feeling embarrassed for
- 33:11Speaker 1: her kids, whatever. And then listening to this other stuff
- 33:15Speaker 1: you know, is like a lot and having paparazzi or
- 33:18Speaker 1: whoever sitting outside of her house. It's just a lot.
- 33:21Speaker 1: And you make, everyone makes mistakes.
- 33:24Speaker 2: It's 10 times. And you know, it's 10 times harder
- 33:27Speaker 2: when the media and everybody's coming after you than what
- 33:30Speaker 2: you think it is. Yeah. It's, it's, it's really, really hard.
- 33:33Speaker 2: It's really hurtful. And it's, it's a tough thing. You
- 33:37Speaker 2: have to have a really thick skin or else you
- 33:39Speaker 2: can have a nervous breakdown, you know?
- 33:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Um, all right.
- 33:43Speaker 1: So let's move on. You talked about your daughter, Jolie.
- 33:46Speaker 1: What does she think about you being so controversial?
- 33:51Speaker 2: Um, no, she doesn't say anything like she, she, she's,
- 33:56Speaker 2: she's happy that I'm off that show. She didn't want it. Yeah.
- 34:00Speaker 2: At the end, she didn't want to film. She didn't
- 34:02Speaker 2: like the fact that she was how to be there
- 34:05Speaker 2: at this thing and she wasn't getting paid. And my
- 34:07Speaker 2: daughter is a hustler. She works at a restaurant and
- 34:11Speaker 2: she likes making money. And she's like, I'm doing this
- 34:14Speaker 2: job and I'm not getting paid. She's like, I'm, what
- 34:17Speaker 2: am I doing this for? You know, she, at the end,
- 34:20Speaker 2: she was like, I don't want to do this. I
- 34:21Speaker 2: don't like being on camera. I don't like not working
- 34:24Speaker 2: for free. I don't like it.
- 34:26Speaker 1: And speaking about the end for a second, I mean,
- 34:28Speaker 1: I know that you sort of brought this on yourself,
- 34:30Speaker 1: but were you sort of devastated or regretful? Because I
- 34:34Speaker 1: know you were making such a big paycheck and that
- 34:36Speaker 1: was your living at the time or most of it
- 34:38Speaker 1: and your financial freedom. Did you feel sort of depressed
- 34:41Speaker 1: after that? Did you feel like you had made a mistake?
- 34:43Speaker 2: I went into a big depression. I did. And Vicky
- 34:48Speaker 2: reached out to me and Tamara reached out to me.
- 34:50Speaker 2: And that was really nice when I got fired because
- 34:53Speaker 2: they were saying the same thing. They fell into a
- 34:56Speaker 2: great depression. I think when you, you know, when you're
- 34:58Speaker 2: making that kind of money and all of a sudden
- 34:59Speaker 2: it stops, it's like, oh shit, maybe I should have
- 35:02Speaker 2: kept my mouth shut. Yeah. Yeah.
- 35:05Speaker 1: I get that. Okay. So speaking of Jolie, I wanted to,
- 35:10Speaker 1: cause I have an 11 year old daughter and you know,
- 35:13Speaker 1: the whole process of dating, I want, and you married
- 35:16Speaker 1: Rick and you guys co-mingled families. I was curious to
- 35:19Speaker 1: get into like how, first of all, were you ever
- 35:22Speaker 1: on a dating site? How did you date before Rick? Like,
- 35:25Speaker 1: What was your process of meeting men?
- 35:27Speaker 2: I never went on a dating site, but I've had
- 35:31Speaker 2: two of my girlfriends that were on hinge that ended
- 35:33Speaker 2: up marrying doctors and getting married and have babies. Like
- 35:37Speaker 2: it's I, but I never was on, um, on a,
- 35:42Speaker 2: on a website. I know, uh, what's her name? Patty
- 35:45Speaker 2: Singer tried to get me on hers and I'm like,
- 35:49Speaker 2: I'm not doing that. I wasn't opposed to it. It
- 35:52Speaker 2: was just, I think when I was single, I liked
- 35:57Speaker 2: being single. I liked like dating. I didn't have like
- 36:01Speaker 2: issues going on dates because there's so many men in, in,
- 36:06Speaker 2: in Newport beach.
- 36:07Speaker 1: So, um, so were there certain things that you looked
- 36:11Speaker 1: for where there are red flags that you would stay
- 36:13Speaker 1: away from? Like, give us some dating tips.
- 36:16Speaker 2: I didn't like dating guys that had little kids. I
- 36:21Speaker 2: found that very, very, I don't, I don't like little kids.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Like You know what I mean? Because you're like, you're
- 36:28Speaker 2: not the mom. It's a really tough time, right? Cause
- 36:32Speaker 2: I don't, I'm not, I'll discipline my own kid, but
- 36:35Speaker 2: if some little kid's acting like a brat and I
- 36:38Speaker 2: don't know what, you know, what to do, then I'm
- 36:40Speaker 2: not the mom. I just don't like dating men that
- 36:43Speaker 2: have little children.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Okay. So that was a deal breaker.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Oh, that's a deal breaker. Somebody was out of work.
- 36:51Speaker 2: It was a deal breaker. Gotta have a job.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Did they have to be like a doctor, a lawyer? Like,
- 36:59Speaker 1: would you date someone?
- 37:00Speaker 2: I was, I was, my first husband was a lawyer.
- 37:04Speaker 2: My second husband was a CEO of leapfrog, you know,
- 37:08Speaker 2: and then the boy got the guy that I dated
- 37:10Speaker 2: was a plastic surgeon, but I kind of, he was
- 37:13Speaker 2: my friend and I was going out with these young
- 37:15Speaker 2: hot guys before. So I was like, okay, I'll, I'll
- 37:19Speaker 2: try an ugly fat dude, see how that works. And
- 37:22Speaker 2: it turned out to be awful. But I also like,
- 37:26Speaker 2: you know.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Did he have a good personality?
- 37:28Speaker 2: He had a good personality. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Okay.
- 37:32Speaker 1: That can only last so long, I guess.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Yeah. And then, you know, there's just no attraction. I
- 37:36Speaker 2: got to be attracted to somebody. I can't. And that's
- 37:40Speaker 2: the thing. Like, I was going on dates with all
- 37:43Speaker 2: these guys and they had like, you know, this. And
- 37:47Speaker 2: we're like, no. You know, it was like, yeah. Yeah.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Okay. So how did you meet Rick? First of all,
- 37:55Speaker 1: how long before this were you single?
- 37:58Speaker 2: Um, I was, let's see, I was single for, I
- 38:02Speaker 2: want to say a year and a half, almost two years.
- 38:07Speaker 2: I was single. Um, and you know, I dated guys.
- 38:12Speaker 2: I was on, you know, I had I had like
- 38:14Speaker 2: side pieces and placeholders and things like that. But nobody
- 38:19Speaker 2: like really that I was like into, you know what
- 38:21Speaker 2: I mean? Yeah. So I was, I was dating that
- 38:24Speaker 2: plastic surgeon and I was like, Oh, forget him. And
- 38:26Speaker 2: I went to, I was on the gay pride parade
- 38:29Speaker 2: with Andy Cohen set up. I went to that with
- 38:32Speaker 2: Tinsley and Luann and Sonia and that whole group. And
- 38:37Speaker 2: I was like, you know what? I don't have any
- 38:39Speaker 2: reason to go back to Newport because I, you know,
- 38:43Speaker 2: Julie was in camp at the time. So I'm like,
- 38:46Speaker 2: Ramona said, hey, stay with me. We have all these
- 38:49Speaker 2: things planned in the Hamptons for the summer, all these parties.
- 38:52Speaker 2: It's going to be single men there. Why don't you come?
- 38:56Speaker 2: And I'm like, okay. So I ended up staying with her.
- 39:00Speaker 2: She was dating this guy named Ron Duguay. They're friends
- 39:03Speaker 2: or whatever. And then Ron Duguay was friends with Rick
- 39:07Speaker 2: and Rick had a summer party and I went to
- 39:10Speaker 2: Rick's summer party. And that's where Ramona and I And
- 39:13Speaker 2: that's where I met Red.
- 39:16Speaker 1: And was it love at first sight? Tell me everything.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Love at first sight. Love at first sight.
- 39:21Speaker 1: It was?
- 39:22Speaker 2: Yeah. It was like, I gave him a kiss. And
- 39:25Speaker 2: then he was reaching out to me on Instagram and
- 39:28Speaker 2: my DMs. And then he asked me, for my phone number.
- 39:31Speaker 2: And then I said, I'm going to London. And he goes, well,
- 39:32Speaker 2: I'll meet you in London. So our first date was
- 39:35Speaker 2: in London. It was really, really romantic.
- 39:38Speaker 1: So did you know who he was before you guys
- 39:41Speaker 1: got together? Had you seen him on the news?
- 39:44Speaker 5: No.
- 39:45Speaker 1: So he was just Rick to you.
- 39:47Speaker 2: It wasn't just Rick. Yeah. Worked at box news. Yeah.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Okay. And then, and then how did that progress? First
- 39:55Speaker 1: of all, how many kids does he have?
- 39:57Speaker 2: He has a 33 year old daughter and a 27
- 40:00Speaker 2: year old daughter. Okay.
- 40:02Speaker 1: So older. So it didn't take much. It wasn't like
- 40:05Speaker 1: integrating young kids together.
- 40:07Speaker 2: You're right. Right. And, and they were very, they were
- 40:11Speaker 2: housewives fans. So they were, you know, when they like, oh,
- 40:15Speaker 2: you're like, dad, dad, date her, date her. So, yeah.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Okay, good. Well, that's always helpful, I guess. So, and
- 40:21Speaker 1: then how long did you guys date? It was very short, right?
- 40:24Speaker 1: Before you guys got engaged.
- 40:25Speaker 2: We dated a year, right? Before we got engaged. Yeah.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Okay. And how did he propose?
- 40:32Speaker 2: He had an apartment and he had a big balcony
- 40:36Speaker 2: and he, well, we went to Lana Jewelers. And he's like,
- 40:41Speaker 2: what kind of rings do you like? I'm shopping for rings.
- 40:43Speaker 2: And I pointed out what kind of I like because
- 40:45Speaker 2: I've always had rounds. And I'm like, I love that ring.
- 40:49Speaker 2: And he's like, oh, OK. And then he would you
- 40:53Speaker 2: have like flowers and he had champagne. He had Dom
- 40:57Speaker 2: and right. And like a cheese board and music. And
- 41:02Speaker 2: he got on his knee outside. We had a really
- 41:05Speaker 2: romantic by a fire pit. And he proposed to me
- 41:09Speaker 2: right there. And he said, I want to meet you
- 41:12Speaker 2: on 10-10-2020.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Oh, I love that. So did you guys, you guys
- 41:15Speaker 1: lived in different places? I lived in California.
- 41:18Speaker 2: He lived in New York City.
- 41:20Speaker 1: And how did you make that work?
- 41:23Speaker 2: Well, he forced himself to move from New York because
- 41:28Speaker 2: he was based in New York. He worked for Fox
- 41:29Speaker 2: for 25 years. His contract was coming up and they're like, well,
- 41:32Speaker 2: we really don't need you in California. And so he's like,
- 41:37Speaker 2: I don't care. I want to be with Kelly. And
- 41:41Speaker 2: so they didn't renew his contract. And now we're just
- 41:46Speaker 2: doing our podcast and making things work.
- 41:51Speaker 1: From an outside perspective, I will say it seems amazing
- 41:54Speaker 1: because you two, the biggest thing I noticed is that
- 41:56Speaker 1: you guys have each other's back. And that seems like
- 42:00Speaker 1: it's so evident with you guys. It seems like you
- 42:02Speaker 1: guys are really in love. And I just, I really
- 42:06Speaker 1: commend you guys because it's something to, for people to
- 42:09Speaker 1: aspire to in relationships in general, but in second chance
- 42:13Speaker 1: relationships or third chance, whatever it is, because it's something
- 42:16Speaker 1: that you really want to have, especially later in life.
- 42:19Speaker 5: The car is beautiful. Where did you end up going
- 42:22Speaker 5: for it?
- 42:23Speaker 3: This exclusive place that Dad has connections with. They have
- 42:25Speaker 3: more cars for more dealerships than like anywhere else.
- 42:28Speaker 5: You have to put me in touch. What's it called?
- 42:30Speaker 6: It's Dune ADL.
- 42:32Speaker 5: Where? Dune ADL.
- 42:35Speaker 6: There's an accent on the E.
- 42:38Speaker 5: Do you mean.
- 42:39Speaker 6: Yes, I got it on Dundale Cars.
- 42:40Speaker 5: Lift?
- 42:41Speaker 2: Please.
- 42:41Speaker 5: Are you going past Kimmage?
- 42:43Speaker 2: Oh, Kimmage.
- 42:44Speaker 5: No.
- 42:46Speaker 6: Dundale Cars. You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
- 42:50Speaker 1: And to take you to the end. And I think
- 42:52Speaker 1: that's so important, especially for what you've been through him,
- 42:54Speaker 1: you know, leaving his job for you. I just think it's,
- 42:57Speaker 1: it's amazing. And I really commend you guys. Cause it's
- 42:59Speaker 1: something that I hope to find. So you guys are
- 43:02Speaker 1: a great couple. Thank you. Okay. So I want to
- 43:06Speaker 1: ask you a couple questions that only you, I think
- 43:10Speaker 1: could answer. Let's see who, okay. We got to just
- 43:14Speaker 1: do a couple of these. Who is the most overrated housewife?
- 43:19Speaker 2: Uh, overrated housewife. Uh, I would say Sonia Morgan.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Okay.
- 43:31Speaker 5: Why?
- 43:33Speaker 2: I just think that her, she's a one trick pony.
- 43:35Speaker 2: She acts like a slut and she is, uh, she
- 43:41Speaker 2: just seems so dirty to me. I, you know, I
- 43:43Speaker 2: don't find her amusing at all. She, uh, I just
- 43:48Speaker 2: don't find, I don't find Sonia Morgan. I think she's
- 43:51Speaker 2: a drunk. I find her to be disgusting. I think
- 43:54Speaker 2: she looks like a pig to me. I don't know.
- 43:56Speaker 2: I don't like her.
- 43:57Speaker 1: So I take it. You're not going to be watching
- 43:59Speaker 1: her new crappy league.
- 44:01Speaker 2: No.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Okay.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Who is the most underrated or the most misunderstood housewife?
- 44:07Speaker 2: Oh, wait, overrated. I would have to say Gina Kirchenheimer.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Sorry for the Orange County. I don't get that, but. Okay.
- 44:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Cool. Who's the most misunderstood in like a good way
- 44:19Speaker 1: that you think that they should be doing better or
- 44:21Speaker 1: people should like them more?
- 44:22Speaker 2: I think Ramona.
- 44:27Speaker 1: I think that's a good answer. People give her a
- 44:31Speaker 1: really hard time.
- 44:32Speaker 2: People give her a really hard time, but she's got
- 44:34Speaker 2: such a great heart and she's so sweet and so nice. Yeah.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Can she come off a little New York-ish, you know, like...
- 44:43Speaker 2: But she has a kind heart. She doesn't mean bad
- 44:48Speaker 2: for anything. You know what I mean? She's misunderstood, I think.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Okay, good answer. Do you think Kyle is having a
- 44:54Speaker 1: late in life lesbian moment? And would you ever do that?
- 44:59Speaker 2: I think she's not having a lesbian moment. I think
- 45:04Speaker 2: that she invested in this woman, or this is what
- 45:07Speaker 2: I've heard from people that are close to her, that she...
- 45:11Speaker 2: you know, sponsored this girl. They became really good friends,
- 45:16Speaker 2: but I don't think that she is a lesbian. I
- 45:20Speaker 2: don't think so. Okay. I think if you could do that,
- 45:25Speaker 2: I think she's just doing it for publicity. I don't,
- 45:28Speaker 2: I don't think she's a lesbian.

- 50:29Speaker 1: Um, wait, and that is something you've mentioned before that
- 50:31Speaker 1: you lived overseas. What were you doing overseas?
- 50:34Speaker 2: Michael, my, my ex, he was the, he was running
- 50:37Speaker 2: the company over there.
- 50:39Speaker 1: How long were you there?
- 50:41Speaker 2: Uh, I was, well, I was there for like a year,
- 50:44Speaker 2: but on and off, like for six months at a
- 50:47Speaker 2: stint for a good seven years. So I know it really.
- 50:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 50:52Speaker 1: What's it like to live in a country like that?
- 50:54Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 50:56Speaker 5: You did.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Absolutely loved it. It was like the best time of

- 51:02Speaker 5: Wow.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Okay.
- 51:03Speaker 1: I love that.
- 51:04Speaker 3: Okay.
- 51:04Speaker 1: What's your favorite binge right now? Show.
- 51:07Speaker 2: I like Dorinda too. Dorinda's a good time. Oh, and
- 51:10Speaker 2: Teresa Giudice. She's a great time. That's who I would,
- 51:13Speaker 2: cause I'm really friends with them in real life. Dorinda.
- 51:16Speaker 2: And yeah. And she's, she's a good time. And so
- 51:20Speaker 2: is Teresa Giudice. Okay. Okay.
- 51:24Speaker 1: So your favorite binge on TV right now, it doesn't
- 51:26Speaker 1: have to be reality. like Netflix or whatever.
- 51:30Speaker 2: What's our favorite binge? What did we just binge watch?
- 51:33Speaker 2: What did we just binge watch? Um, shit. Will you
- 51:38Speaker 2: watch that show? The dear child one? Oh yeah. It's
- 51:41Speaker 2: dear child. I just binged that.
- 51:43Speaker 1: Is that the one that's, um, any about what?
- 51:47Speaker 2: It's on Netflix. It's called Dear Child. It's a German film. Yeah.
- 51:52Speaker 1: I just watched that too. I was like, I binged
- 51:56Speaker 1: on that too. Now I just want to stop and
- 51:58Speaker 1: say this for one second. I found that fascinating, disgusting, weird.
- 52:03Speaker 1: I just interviewed the lawyer for Joseph Fritzl. Do you
- 52:06Speaker 1: remember him? He was the guy from Austria who had
- 52:11Speaker 1: seven children and put one of his daughters in the
- 52:13Speaker 1: basement for 24 years and had seven children with her.
- 52:18Speaker 1: So it reminded me of this whole crazy scenario. Yeah, crazy.
- 52:23Speaker 1: But that was a crazy, that was an amazing, I
- 52:26Speaker 1: love those German or, you know.
- 52:28Speaker 2: I do too. I love those. Like I'm now, you know,
- 52:31Speaker 2: with all this strike and everything, I'm getting into like,
- 52:33Speaker 2: I'm watching all kinds of different films from all different
- 52:35Speaker 2: kinds of Korean films. I'm like into like international stuff now.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that is a really good one. I'm really obsessed
- 52:42Speaker 1: on Netflix, by the way, with Love is Blind. I
- 52:44Speaker 1: really wish that they would do one for like, I'm
- 52:46Speaker 1: not a senior, but seniors compared to what those people are,
- 52:49Speaker 1: because they're all in their 20s. People that have been divorced,
- 52:52Speaker 1: have kids. I think it'd be so fun. I'm obsessed
- 52:54Speaker 1: with that.
- 52:54Speaker 2: I'll watch that. Love is Blind on Netflix?
- 52:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you've never seen it?
- 52:58Speaker 2: No.
- 52:59Speaker 1: Oh, you guys are going to love it.
- 53:00Speaker 2: You did? That's our first episode. I'll watch it with him. Oh,
- 53:03Speaker 2: you'll watch it with me? Yeah. Rick said he's not.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Okay, so your favorite reality show, what would that be?
- 53:12Speaker 2: My favorite reality show... What's my favorite reality show? Yeah.
- 53:21Speaker 2: I like New York housewives. I like to do. Oh,
- 53:24Speaker 2: I love Hollywood house flip.
- 53:28Speaker 5: Oh, okay. Yeah.
- 53:30Speaker 1: That is a good one. I like that. I've always
- 53:32Speaker 1: liked his shows. You take a lot of vacations that
- 53:35Speaker 1: I'm always obsessed with seeing. And I love that you're
- 53:37Speaker 1: always traveling with like Heather and all them. What is
- 53:39Speaker 1: your best vacation spot that people should go to?
- 53:43Speaker 2: My best vacation spot. I love the Amalfi coast and
- 53:46Speaker 2: I love Croatia.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Okay. Best celebrity. Greece.
- 53:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay. Greece. Yeah.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Best celebrity encounter.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Best celebrity encounter. Well, I ran into Pamela Anderson, St. Bart's.
- 54:08Speaker 2: That was kind of neat to see her. Cause she
- 54:10Speaker 2: just came out with that documentary.
- 54:12Speaker 5: Oh yeah.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Did you talk to her?
- 54:14Speaker 2: No, I didn't talk to her, but I was just,
- 54:16Speaker 2: I just like was, she was sitting like right there,
- 54:18Speaker 2: but I was just looking at her. I thought she
- 54:19Speaker 2: was so pretty. That was, I thought that I found
- 54:23Speaker 2: it fascinating because, you know, just got watched, done watching
- 54:27Speaker 2: that documentary and then she was right there.
- 54:29Speaker 7: But who, who's what celebrity encounter, but I would say
- 54:36Speaker 7: what celebrity encounter that I, I don't know.
- 54:44Speaker 2: I know so many.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Well, that's a good one.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Okay.
- 54:47Speaker 1: This is kind of similar. Has anyone famous slid into
- 54:50Speaker 1: your DMs and asked you out?
- 54:53Speaker 2: No.
- 54:54Speaker 1: If you could say it in front of Rick.
- 54:58Speaker 2: No. Okay.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Have you ever slid into someone famous DM?
- 55:03Speaker 2: No.
- 55:03Speaker 1: Okay. Has Rick, since he's sitting there.
- 55:09Speaker 2: Have you ever slid into someone's DM?
- 55:10Speaker 5: No, I haven't.
- 55:12Speaker 2: Okay. No, but that's because we were already talking. Okay.
- 55:17Speaker 5: Nice.
- 55:18Speaker 2: Okay.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Uh, what is your biggest regret?
- 55:21Speaker 2: Uh, selling my house on the beach. Okay.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Uh, speaking of which incidentally, um, how did you get
- 55:36Speaker 1: into selling houses and flipping them? I know you do that.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Um, How did I get into it?
- 55:42Speaker 1: Yeah, like what made you like it?
- 55:44Speaker 2: I just like finding like a piece of crap and
- 55:48Speaker 2: making it pretty. I find it so rewarding and I
- 55:53Speaker 2: just love it. It's like, it's something that I have
- 55:56Speaker 2: a passion for.
- 55:57Speaker 1: And you guys are still doing that, right?
- 56:00Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going to sell his house in the Hamptons
- 56:03Speaker 2: and buy something in Newport and fix it up.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Amazing, okay. I feel like you always have some good
- 56:10Speaker 1: Side hustle. Not that I would call it a side hustle,
- 56:12Speaker 1: but a way to like keep yourself occupied, have a living, have.
- 56:15Speaker 2: Some money coming in. Yeah. Okay.
- 56:19Speaker 1: I think that's important. I like it's fun.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Okay.
- 56:21Speaker 1: So you do a podcast now, the Rick and Kelly
- 56:24Speaker 1: show daily smash. Tell us about that.
- 56:26Speaker 2: So I do, I have a Patreon, the Rick and
- 56:29Speaker 2: Kelly show on Patreon, which is a paid wall. And
- 56:32Speaker 2: then the daily smash is on YouTube Monday through Friday.
- 56:35Speaker 2: And it's five days a week, five days a week,
- 56:37Speaker 2: 30 minutes. But it's fun. We like it. You know,
- 56:41Speaker 2: I just, I love having this platform where I can
- 56:45Speaker 2: say whatever I want. I don't have to be censored
- 56:48Speaker 2: or I don't, you know, like being on the housewives,
- 56:51Speaker 2: I couldn't say anything. I was getting fined constantly. And
- 56:54Speaker 2: just having your own thing is just so rewarding. And
- 56:59Speaker 2: I love working with Rick. It's so much fun. And,
- 57:04Speaker 2: you know, I always found that like when I was
- 57:05Speaker 2: in advertising, when, you know, I loved my job and
- 57:08Speaker 2: I was the number one salesperson at the Arizona Republic
- 57:12Speaker 2: and I loved it. I just love it. And I
- 57:14Speaker 2: feel like if you do something that you love to do,
- 57:17Speaker 2: you'll be successful at it. So I just, I just
- 57:21Speaker 2: love having the freedom and to just say whatever we want.
- 57:25Speaker 2: It's nice.
- 57:27Speaker 1: And tell people what the difference is. I mean, it
- 57:29Speaker 1: seems like you give a lot more of your insight
- 57:31Speaker 1: on the housewives and stuff in your Patreon. And then
- 57:34Speaker 1: in your daily show, you're talking about things that you
- 57:38Speaker 1: guys have been doing, you know, the daily news. Is
- 57:42Speaker 1: that correct?
- 57:43Speaker 2: Yeah. So like on the, on the YouTube, we just
- 57:45Speaker 2: talk about, you know, like Jeff Lewis does, you know,
- 57:47Speaker 2: we talk about our life, our experiences, what we're doing
- 57:51Speaker 2: from day to day. the restaurants that we ate at,
- 57:54Speaker 2: you know, the experiences on vacations that we've done. We
- 57:57Speaker 2: do daily vlogs. We talk about stuff in the news,
- 58:02Speaker 2: gossip on, you know, what's going on with people. So yeah. Okay.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's super fun to listen to. It's like
- 58:11Speaker 1: a quick listen. It's great. You guys usually recap things
- 58:14Speaker 1: that are about yourselves. So I think it gives people
- 58:16Speaker 1: a lot of insight into you guys, to your relationship,
- 58:19Speaker 1: to where you are, what you're doing, which I think
- 58:21Speaker 1: is cool. So I know Rick has a book out.
- 58:25Speaker 1: Will you tell me a little bit about what he's doing?
- 58:27Speaker 2: It is called Chasing Catastrophes, 35 Years Covering Wars, Hurricanes,
- 58:36Speaker 2: and Terror Attacks, and Other Breaking News.
- 58:39Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 58:39Speaker 2: And at the end, it's all about me.
- 58:43Speaker 1: How he found you and it changed his life.
- 58:46Speaker 2: His love story to me.
- 58:47Speaker 1: Or his biggest catastrophe.
- 58:53Speaker 2: I would love for him to do like stuff that,
- 58:56Speaker 2: you know, like a book, like the gossip, like at
- 58:58Speaker 2: Fox News, like with everybody like banging each other. Those
- 59:02Speaker 2: kinds of stories are good. I like reading that kind
- 59:04Speaker 2: of stuff. Right.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Have you read his book?
- 59:07Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 59:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:08Speaker 5: That's good.
- 59:10Speaker 2: On audio too. So if, you know, you're in the
- 59:13Speaker 2: car or whatever, you can, you know, listen to, or
- 59:15Speaker 2: on the airplane, it's on audio too. Awesome.
- 59:19Speaker 1: I'm going to get the book, Rick, because I used
- 59:21Speaker 1: to work at Bloomberg News for many years. I love news.
- 59:24Speaker 1: So I would find that fascinating. I'm obsessed with the news.
- 59:27Speaker 2: And it's not really, it's about things that happen. Like
- 59:33Speaker 2: it's not like political or anything like that. So, you know.
- 59:37Speaker 1: It's things he covered while he was there.
- 59:38Speaker 2: Find the scenes of what goes on. Yeah.
- 59:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 59:41Speaker 1: Oh, amazing.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Okay.
- 59:43Speaker 1: Would you ever go back onto a housewife show if
- 59:46Speaker 1: they asked you?
- 59:48Speaker 2: I would really like to do an ultimate girls trip.
- 59:52Speaker 2: I would really, you know, it's like, it's, it's, it's
- 59:55Speaker 2: a week long. You'd have fun. Vicky says it's the best.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: You get paid very, very well. And, you know, you
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: don't have to, and it's like, you get in, you know, involved,
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: invested with all these girls that, you know, are on
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: the housewives. I, you know, I, I, I would love
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: to do one of those. Okay. I told him Andy
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: Cohen that he should do one that with women that
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: have been to jail.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Oh, that's a great idea.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: That would be really controversial.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: I think us weekly or one of those came out
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: with people who've been, you know, to jail.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Incarcerated.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Awesome. I think that would be so fun.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: What is on your bucket list for the future? Do
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: you want to write a book? Tell us where you
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: want to be in five years.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: I would love to write a cookbook of like my
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: family recipes. You know, my mom and dad are such
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: great cooks and I love to cook and I would
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: love to do a cookbook. People ask me to do
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: a cookbook. I think that would be really fun to
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: do a cookbook. My bucket list would be to have
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: a house on the beach again, just on the water.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: Even a condo would be nice. I would love that.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: And I would love to have like a, like a show,
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: like a daily show, like on Newsmax of the Rick
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: and Kelly show, kind of like a Regis and Kelly
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: kind of thing. That would be, I would love to
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: do something like that.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Audience and stuff like that.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: I'm sure people would love that. That sounds great.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Where can people find you guys? Tell us your socials
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: and how to find you on.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: I'm Kelly D. Dodd at Instagram. And Rick is Rick
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Leventhal on Instagram and Patreon.com. The Rick and Kelly show
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: and YouTube. The Daily Smash. The Rick and Kelly show.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: The Daily Smash.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Awesome. Well, thank you so much for joining us. I
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: think you're great. I wish you the best. Um, I
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: wish the best. And when you guys are in Palm beach,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: we're going to go to dinner.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: We're going to go to dinner. I'll take you out.
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: Okay.

- 1:02:46Speaker 5: The car is beautiful. Where did you end up going
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: for it?
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: This exclusive place that Dad has connections with. They have
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: more cars for more dealerships than like anywhere else.
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: You have to put me in touch. What's it called?
- 1:02:57Speaker 6: It's Dunaidial.
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: Where?
- 1:03:01Speaker 6: Dunaidial. There's an accent on the E.
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: Do you mean.
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: Yes, I got it on Dundale Cars.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: Lift? Please.
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: Are you going past Kimmage?
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: Oh, Kimmage.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: No.
- 1:03:12Speaker 6: Dundale Cars.
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
