- 1 00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:02,000 It's still real to be damaged! 2 00:00:02,000 --> 00:00:12,500 What now? 3 00:00:12,500 --> 00:00:17,000 Welcome everybody! 4 00:00:17,000 --> 00:00:20,000 Welcome to this week's a Disney-style Rhoads show 5 00:00:20,000 --> 00:00:25,000 Episode 836 for February 19th, 2026 6 00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:29,000 Welcome to this week's edition of the S-R-T-U 7 00:00:29,000 --> 00:00:35,000 I am one after show, I am Jeff Beck, joined every single week like I was the one on the Dr. Craig Franklin 8 00:00:35,000 --> 00:00:41,000 Dr. Trey, happy 16 years of S-R-T-U, my friend 9 00:00:41,000 --> 00:00:49,000 I put all this together as the show is coming on the air and you're saying it's episode 865 10 00:00:49,000 --> 00:01:01,000 I'm like, I did not realize we started this show, well sorry you and Eric started this show so close to Valentine's Day 11 00:01:01,000 --> 00:01:05,000 that it's like literally like right now I just walked out of a store a little while ago 12 00:01:05,000 --> 00:01:10,000 everything Valentine's Day is on clearance and then we get to jump right into wrestling 13 00:01:10,000 --> 00:01:17,000 so the beauty of it all combining two loves, the love of our family, our significant others, and professional wrestling 14 00:01:17,000 --> 00:01:26,000 so I am excited feeling good, I'm wearing blue but that's neither here, I should have been more festive, I should have worn the red 15 00:01:26,000 --> 00:01:32,000 and I'm always red with my hair so this is fantastic yes 16 years of S-R-T 16 00:01:32,000 --> 00:01:37,000 we started this show on February 20th, 2010 17 00:01:37,000 --> 00:01:42,000 at the period of time I was almost at my one year mark of doing broadcasting, podcasting 18 00:01:42,000 --> 00:01:47,000 at that period of time I was on the show The Wheelhouse with Mike Bauer and Chris Cause 19 00:01:47,000 --> 00:01:55,000 and they were encouraging me to branch out, do my own podcast start, you know, learning how to do things on my own 20 00:01:55,000 --> 00:02:00,000 and professional wrestling was what basically got me into podcasting and begin with 21 00:02:00,000 --> 00:02:04,000 I mean that's what got me noticed as as the Dr. Trey back in our EA game show days now 22 00:02:04,000 --> 00:02:10,000 which is almost like 20 years ago Dr. Trey which is insane to think about 23 00:02:10,000 --> 00:02:17,000 a platform that is still ahead of its time and today would have been great if it was still here quite honestly 24 00:02:17,000 --> 00:02:27,000 and branched out we had Eric Ardulot who was the former co-host of this podcast for about the first two years of the show 25 00:02:27,000 --> 00:02:34,000 he was a CZW the very first ROH commentator, a CZW commentator he was doing pro wrestling radio 26 00:02:34,000 --> 00:02:39,000 he's completely out of the business now he's doing his own thing I see him pop up on Facebook every now and again 27 00:02:39,000 --> 00:02:46,000 wish Eric the absolute best and we also had Buck Woodward on who has he used to be a writer for PWInsider 28 00:02:46,000 --> 00:02:51,000 and has since retired from the game as well and I think he is doing something completely different 29 00:02:51,000 --> 00:02:56,000 launch this show and yeah it was right around WrestleMania 26 season 30 00:02:56,000 --> 00:03:04,000 I think we were going into elimination 2010 because remember talking about Sean Michael super kicking the undertaker 31 00:03:04,000 --> 00:03:09,000 in the elimination chamber match to help Chris Jericho win the World of Wage Championship 32 00:03:09,000 --> 00:03:12,000 you know that period of time they were coming off of a feud 33 00:03:12,000 --> 00:03:17,000 the show is going to take a break that summer we never did because of the Nexus angle 34 00:03:17,000 --> 00:03:21,000 that was taking place at that period of time which is wild to think about 35 00:03:21,000 --> 00:03:26,000 and we've never taken a show off since February 20 of 2010 here we are today 36 00:03:26,000 --> 00:03:34,000 February 19, 2026 836 straight episodes of SRTU Dr. Tray Hopton 37 00:03:34,000 --> 00:03:39,000 shortly before I want to say it was like the show leading into WrestleMania 28 like the pre-show 38 00:03:39,000 --> 00:03:46,000 and then we never look back I think Dr. Tray you made your debut around like episode 10, 11, 12, somewhere around there 39 00:03:46,000 --> 00:03:53,000 as a recurring co-host that we pop on we would used to do round tables with various folks 40 00:03:53,000 --> 00:03:58,000 that were part of the SRTU cinematic universe at the period of time 41 00:03:58,000 --> 00:04:06,000 and now here we are 16 years later and when we look around it's just basically you and I standing left from all that was 42 00:04:06,000 --> 00:04:13,000 whether it be the real guy radio network of the Bauer show, Wheelhouse radio, Russell Chatnet 43 00:04:13,000 --> 00:04:22,000 we are the ones that still remain somehow some way and to think that tomorrow is the official 16 year anniversary of SRT 44 00:04:22,000 --> 00:04:28,000 but here we are celebrating it today is pretty wild I never thought I would be doing a podcast 45 00:04:28,000 --> 00:04:35,000 let alone a wrestling podcast every single week for 16 straight years 836 straight episodes 46 00:04:35,000 --> 00:04:37,000 but here we are 47 00:04:37,000 --> 00:04:41,000 yeah it's funny you started mentioning those people I was like oh yeah I remember like we're doing our plugs 48 00:04:41,000 --> 00:04:46,000 and there's the Russell Chatnet plug and then Camel Clutch blog and then I'm like I was on my 49 00:04:46,000 --> 00:04:53,000 one of my old Facebook pages there and I realized I'm still an admin on UK stews 50 00:04:53,000 --> 00:04:59,000 a Facebook page and I'm like wow okay was that wrestling's last hope? 51 00:04:59,000 --> 00:05:05,000 yes I'm still an admin on wrestling's last hope this day and I'm like wow like I 52 00:05:05,000 --> 00:05:10,000 hadn't even thought about that in quite a while and it was just it just happened to pop up 53 00:05:10,000 --> 00:05:17,000 as I was going through my kind of my list of time in doing the podcast with you and I was like well this is 54 00:05:17,000 --> 00:05:23,000 this is kind of cool like if we had had a kid when the show first started that kid can now legally drive a car 55 00:05:23,000 --> 00:05:30,000 yes you know when we started my daughter was two and now she's in college when you know I was still in my first marriage 56 00:05:30,000 --> 00:05:35,000 and then I took the break and I'm like okay I'm never getting married again and I'm pretty sure I told you that 57 00:05:35,000 --> 00:05:41,000 I'll never get married again and then got married again and then had another kid I mean it's amazing how 58 00:05:41,000 --> 00:05:50,000 this show has outlasted so many things that we've come across in the world and yet you know 836 59 00:05:50,000 --> 00:05:56,000 straight weeks of of of wrestling gold for your ears I used to coin the phrase 60 00:05:56,000 --> 00:06:03,000 I'm just it's just amazing that we're still turning and grinding along all these years later 61 00:06:03,000 --> 00:06:10,000 yeah and if you've been part of this ride from the beginning for a couple of years a couple of months a couple of days 62 00:06:10,000 --> 00:06:17,000 a couple of weeks thank you thank you for being part of it I mean I think you know when you look back at the 63 00:06:17,000 --> 00:06:23,000 annals of time when it comes to wrestling podcast I like to think of Dr. Trayn I as some of the OGs of 64 00:06:23,000 --> 00:06:31,000 wrestling podcast a lot of stuff is really taking off you know a lot more video is out there people are doing watchalongs 65 00:06:31,000 --> 00:06:40,000 like if you told me hey you know you and Dr. Trayn are going to watch a paper view live but we won't show the paper view 66 00:06:40,000 --> 00:06:46,000 they're just going to be on your face you know we could do it on on zoom Google meet what have you and 67 00:06:46,000 --> 00:06:50,000 we're going to have our cameras on and they're just going to people are going to watch your reactions as you watch 68 00:06:50,000 --> 00:06:56,000 the show with that be a form of content meeting I would say you're absolutely crazy but a lot of people doing that now 69 00:06:56,000 --> 00:07:03,000 a lot of people are watching Smackdowns and Ross and Dynamites and collisions and paper views in general 70 00:07:03,000 --> 00:07:09,000 watching someone else watch a show and giving their commentary while they watch the main show on mute 71 00:07:09,000 --> 00:07:14,000 or not watching it at all which is kind of weird still too but here we are I mean that's the content has 72 00:07:14,000 --> 00:07:21,000 certainly changed it's it's a lot more video based than I ever thought it would be audio which is still what 73 00:07:21,000 --> 00:07:29,000 Dr. Trayn I do is is kind of the the original of it all and there's certainly comes times where we talk about 74 00:07:29,000 --> 00:07:35,000 here on the podcast of you know what's next for SRT you what are we going to do how much longer we 75 00:07:35,000 --> 00:07:40,000 going to keep doing it and I always have a like in the back of my mind Dr. Trayn that you and I at some point 76 00:07:40,000 --> 00:07:46,000 are going to be reaching sooner rather than later I often think about this that like undertaker 77 00:07:46,000 --> 00:07:53,000 and Shawn Michaels runs where like hbk and undertaker were part time towards the end of their runs in Roller's 78 00:07:53,000 --> 00:07:59,000 Entertainment and still keeping that like toe in the water of talking about professional wrestling each week 79 00:07:59,000 --> 00:08:05,000 well we do it on a on a weekly basis I'm always like no we're probably getting closer towards that part time 80 00:08:05,000 --> 00:08:11,000 run where maybe we go back to back to back in in WrestleMania season then pop up you know once a month or every once in a while 81 00:08:11,000 --> 00:08:17,000 you can fully see in the show end but then like a year later goes by like I would have thought about that 82 00:08:17,000 --> 00:08:21,000 last year two years ago whatever and it's like we did the show for 52 straight weeks again 83 00:08:21,000 --> 00:08:28,000 and we're still doing 836 straight weeks of doing the podcast so here we are 16 years I 84 00:08:28,000 --> 00:08:34,000 I don't want to ever put some sort of timeline on it and say hey this is the drop down this is when Dr. Trayn 85 00:08:34,000 --> 00:08:43,000 I got to be retiring all together or we're going part time I always think SRT will be somewhere in the life of me no matter what 86 00:08:43,000 --> 00:08:51,000 and the fact that we get to do it for 836 straight weeks is is pretty incredible and amazing and do it consistently for 16 straight years 87 00:08:51,000 --> 00:08:57,000 is is been admirable as well and I obviously thank Dr. Trayn for being part of this each and every week 88 00:08:57,000 --> 00:09:02,000 and making the time and of course all of our families and our friends that make that you know allows to have this time 89 00:09:02,000 --> 00:09:09,000 and then all of you that that support us so I always think about that to try Dr. Trayn like are we entering that part time phase 90 00:09:09,000 --> 00:09:15,000 and we just never seem to be no I mean I thought about it probably a little more last year when we were coming up 91 00:09:15,000 --> 00:09:21,000 on the 15 year anniversary of the show and I was like well 15 years is a good run like I think I looked it up 92 00:09:21,000 --> 00:09:27,000 before I think we're like the second longest running or we have the second most amount of episodes for like a weekly 93 00:09:27,000 --> 00:09:36,000 podcast for wrestling in the world I don't know and I didn't get a chance as you dig into the other guys archives 94 00:09:36,000 --> 00:09:47,000 I see if they've done it for 836 straight weeks I mean people love WCW for doing 83 weeks and we do 836 95 00:09:47,000 --> 00:10:01,000 and then doing the math in my head I was like well for 836 now 52 and 52 is 104 that only puts at 940 we would need a three more years to get to episode 1000 96 00:10:01,000 --> 00:10:09,000 and I mean my brain I'm like I think at this point I kind of want to get to 1000 just because like it's just a good round number 97 00:10:09,000 --> 00:10:23,000 like if we if we go part time on episode 913 that's just kind of random I'm a big numbers guy I mean you know Northeast I mean if we said hey 911 is our last full time episode 98 00:10:23,000 --> 00:10:30,000 I get appreciate that as well but right now like 1000 you know seems like a good good round number to maybe wrap it up 99 00:10:30,000 --> 00:10:38,000 but that makes me that means Sammy would be 10 Luke would be almost five that's our kindergarten I don't know if time constraints would allow us 100 00:10:38,000 --> 00:10:49,000 at that point as well yeah who knows right means that probably would take us to 20 years right yeah well we're not at 850 yet 101 00:10:49,000 --> 00:10:57,000 yeah so 850 would be another 150 to go which would be about three years or probably like like you said three and a half years away 102 00:10:57,000 --> 00:11:04,000 yeah who knows I mean I never thought we would make 100 I never thought we'd make 200 let alone 50 straight right 103 00:11:04,000 --> 00:11:13,000 I mean again I always bring up like the show was supposed to take a break in the summer and then we would pick it back up and we never did it and it's because of the next is stuff 104 00:11:13,000 --> 00:11:21,000 and if you go back to those first and we had put them up on the patreon page which is by the way patreon.com/srtupodcast it is completely free now 105 00:11:21,000 --> 00:11:29,000 so no paid subscriptions tied to the SRT you pay patron page if you go back and you are able to listen to some of those first episodes 106 00:11:29,000 --> 00:11:39,000 I think we put like six years 70 of the SRT classics up there that was when we started doing the revolving door over the summer of like coos that would come on and Eric 107 00:11:39,000 --> 00:11:46,000 Argil would pop in every now and again and then we would have like Dr. Trey we'd have big time Benny Lopez I'd have Russell chat Brett joining 108 00:11:46,000 --> 00:11:54,000 Russell chat John UK stew we had a bunch and we would we were doing it and it was because the nexus angle was so red hot 109 00:11:54,000 --> 00:12:04,000 and that's what's completely wild about the entire thing is when you look at the stretch of SRT you so world champions at the time it must have been 110 00:12:04,000 --> 00:12:13,000 world of away champion was Chris Jericho at that point and then WWE champion for WrestleMania 26 111 00:12:13,000 --> 00:12:22,000 Batista I think Batista because then Batista left shortly thereafter and that was the John Cena Batista match I was 112 00:12:22,000 --> 00:12:30,000 remember WrestleMania 26 and Brett Hart had come back TNA was doing the Monday night wars NXT had debuted as a reality show 113 00:12:30,000 --> 00:12:39,000 and then you look at where we're at now and champions are CM Punk in WWE and Drew McIntyre which I believe Drew 114 00:12:39,000 --> 00:12:48,000 yeah Drew is with the company then Dr. CM Punk was part of the company then and here they are champions nowadays Cody Rhodes was just starting out 115 00:12:48,000 --> 00:12:58,000 there was no AW TNA was trying to compete with WWE yeah it's been wild I mean it's it's NXT again was reality show was in a brand yet 116 00:12:58,000 --> 00:13:11,000 and yeah I mean it's it's certainly more difficult to keep track on professional wrestling nowadays because of so much professional wrestling that's going on and there have been certainly times 117 00:13:11,000 --> 00:13:21,000 and I think you could attest this to Dr. Trey where we wonder if we're going to keep doing this like on a weekly basis just because the products can be so bad I mean there have been times 118 00:13:21,000 --> 00:13:34,000 where WWE was certainly unwatchable and like the only thing that got us by was NXT then AW came aboard and AW was really good and then WWE started picking things up when Triple H took the books and AW fell off 119 00:13:34,000 --> 00:13:46,000 and right now wrestling's at like a really good spot where it's very entertaining but I tell you what Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and I don't watch TNA 120 00:13:46,000 --> 00:14:07,000 admittedly I mean if I added TNA it'd be Thursday it's it's a lot of wrestling for wrestling fans and I think if I had to say one thing is as I've learned over the years that I almost feel like at times after Trey there is too much wrestling on our television 121 00:14:07,000 --> 00:14:27,000 like I love wrestling but it's like too much especially when there's one promotion that's not too good or they're falling behind creatively and the other one is pulling apart ahead I wish it wasn't as inundated with professional wrestling television shows as much it is right now and that kind of pains me to say that 122 00:14:27,000 --> 00:14:43,000 yeah I mean there are times I think that but then I go back to my teenage college years and I'm like well in reality we had you know I guess maybe the fact that we had Monday Night Raw and Monday Night Raw on the same nights 123 00:14:43,000 --> 00:14:55,000 kind of helped tamp that down a little bit because we really only had wrestling three nights a week it was like using Monday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday for Thunder or Monday, Thursday, Friday 124 00:14:55,000 --> 00:15:03,000 but if you were a diehard and you're like take trading and you're getting all these things in for like ECW 125 00:15:03,000 --> 00:15:16,000 are you getting this stuff in from Japan and are you you know combing the indies I mean there's it's I think the amount of wrestling is about the same is just the access to it is so much easier 126 00:15:16,000 --> 00:15:27,000 and with the advent of social media and the breaking down of quote unquote K-fabe it makes everybody seem like an expert it's like yeah I mean that was what this the focus of the show is 127 00:15:27,000 --> 00:15:36,000 there's like two guys talking wrestling his fans you know and you have so many people now they're like oh that was a bot or oh that you know they they should have done this they should have done this 128 00:15:36,000 --> 00:16:04,000 like those people have never you know stepped in a wrestling ring they've never actually talked to a professional wrestler they've never interviewed a professional wrestler but then people treat them like experts but I think like I was saying I think it's the the amount of wrestling has in change just the access to it is so far away easier that you can find it whatever you want to that's a very good point and as you were bringing up some of the old style ways we would watch professional wrestling 129 00:16:04,000 --> 00:16:25,000 it made me think like one thing that I love about today's wrestling versus one thing that I miss about when we first started and I think the one thing that I miss from when we first started Dr. Train this is really easing this was kind of like the end of like indie wrestling as we know it because an NXT start to get a popular couple years later 130 00:16:25,000 --> 00:16:36,000 and they were taking any talent and then a W was launched and that is the amount of talent that you could find on indies and like the leader in the clubhouse for independent wrestling promotions was wearing a 131 00:16:36,000 --> 00:17:05,000 on a wrestling and when we first started they had a TV deal they were starting to come up on the on the up and up there but I miss those days of watching R.O.H.'s video wire or being told like hey you got to check out this AJ styles match you got to check out this some of Joe match you got to check out the these wrestlers Kevinstein and Elgin Erica you really don't have that nowadays you don't have where you could say you got to check out this person you got to check out that person these people are typically already found in WWE or 132 00:17:05,000 --> 00:17:34,000 in a W and if they're not in one of those places you're looking for the new Japan it's it's not like you got to go check out R.O.H. or N.W.A. wild side you know what have you and I very very much miss those days of like hearing people talk about online you got to check out this person and then you see clips or you see matches I certainly miss those days and then when I think about stuff that makes it like that I like about today's 133 00:17:34,000 --> 00:17:48,000 professional wrestling versus from the old days it's it's tough I mean I don't know I mean I get pissed off about how much money that you got to spend 134 00:17:48,000 --> 00:17:59,000 nowadays to watch wrestling whether being Netflix or peacock or HBO Max you know I would sound hypocritical if I was like it's more accessible I guess 135 00:17:59,000 --> 00:18:13,000 what I like more about today's professional wrestling I should say that when we first started is I feel like there's more depth to the storylines that I remember from 16 years ago like 16 years ago I thought the 136 00:18:13,000 --> 00:18:25,000 writing was pretty poor from WWE and that's because they weren't really being challenged then it was kind of still poor for the next 6-7-8-9 years until AW launch NXT it's a really good writing in that black and gold 137 00:18:25,000 --> 00:18:34,000 error from like 14 to 19 that's when triple H's run in the books and then we see it correlate over to WWE once he takes the books over from Vince retiring so I guess if I had to put like a quick 138 00:18:34,000 --> 00:18:48,000 answer here doctor I miss being like hey you got to go check out this wrestler on the independent wrestling scene watch through YouTube whatever and today I like the more creative so that's what I miss from when we first started and what I 139 00:18:48,000 --> 00:19:00,000 like from from today's present wrestling yeah I was it's funny like I I almost had to kind of adjust my mindsets with the you know it's not the death of the independence 140 00:19:00,000 --> 00:19:13,000 independence around that's so you're getting you know your talent is still kind of coming from slowly but I had to almost kind of put it in the context of like major league baseball in the minor leagues where like hey you hear the Yankees draft 141 00:19:13,000 --> 00:19:25,000 this kid in the first round and he's going to like Barrow Beach Florida and then you're watching him kind of climb the ladder and you're seeing that more now like you hear the young guys getting the deal with AEW the young guys 142 00:19:25,000 --> 00:19:40,000 and then you can kind of watch them progress I think what I miss the most about professional wrestling is the wonderment of hey was that real like that that line like we always you and I 143 00:19:40,000 --> 00:19:52,000 still to this day talk about like when people kind of blur that line between work and shoot like the Seth Ros and Matt Riddle really hate each other like how are they going to have this this you 144 00:19:52,000 --> 00:20:02,000 den type match and not murder each other like you know like where's that line at you know and I kind of miss that we don't 145 00:20:02,000 --> 00:20:13,000 the big surprises or the crazy kind of off the wall stunts like dropping a giant beam on the DX express or you know angle with the 146 00:20:13,000 --> 00:20:24,000 truckers also with the beer trip we don't really have any of those like crazy over the top moments like we did and I kind of that's what I miss is the almost the 147 00:20:24,000 --> 00:20:33,000 theatrics of professional wrestling what I like about professional wrestling now you mentioned the death of store lines the athleticism of these guys yes I am still an 148 00:20:33,000 --> 00:20:47,000 old curmudgeon I don't think every match needs to have a dive to the outside I but the the amount of stuff these guys are able to do like we thought it was crazy that a guy like D 149 00:20:47,000 --> 00:20:59,000 Low Brown who was 270 pounds could do a great frock splash and now we're seeing guys like bam bam big lows moonsault was breathtaking for a lot of us growing up and now we're seeing you guys 150 00:20:59,000 --> 00:21:14,000 three or pounds doing like triple triple jump moonsaults you're like how is that possible so I think the depth of talent is greater now and that comes with in a sense the death of KFA because it's given 151 00:21:14,000 --> 00:21:26,000 people more access to wrestling schools but just like the athleticism that is in professional wrestling now is unparalleled and I think that's good for the business 152 00:21:26,000 --> 00:21:40,000 but I kind of still wish we would give it a fight feel a little bit more than you know Cirque du Soleil or ballroom dancing it's funny that you bring that up because I've been watching some of the WLFG getting caught up on that 153 00:21:40,000 --> 00:21:51,000 and I'm not the biggest fan of that show by any means but when you watch it you're like these are some people who just started wrestling and they're really churning out a lot of people down in the PC nowadays 154 00:21:51,000 --> 00:22:07,000 they have athletic backgrounds and they can wrestle they may be missing the character part of it but they can they can wrestle and you're starting to see that with a lot of these homegrown talents in WWE that really pierce through like Tiffany Stratton, Trick Williams, 155 00:22:07,000 --> 00:22:28,000 Lash Legend and that's cool to see but I do miss from like five years ago where people that had in the indie backgrounds were making their way to WWE and really shaking the system a lot because that core of what we've been doing was a lot of guys and girls who had those backgrounds previously whether it be Seth, 156 00:22:28,000 --> 00:22:56,000 Moxley, Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens, Kevin Steen, Elgin Erica, Sammy Zane, Cesaro, Claudio Casignoli, like these are guys and girls that really were defined on the indie scene and then making themselves known in WWE than in a W and TNA along the time so it seems like WWE may be switching gears I saw some stuff recently where like WWE is changing things up now and they're looking more towards indie talent than the athletic backgrounds 157 00:22:56,000 --> 00:23:25,000 because I don't think the athletic backgrounds are really paying out on the female side yes because you've got Tiffany, you've got Bianca, you've got people who didn't have wrestling backgrounds previously but on the men's side it's like I don't know it's kind of hard to pick who has really broken through like Braun Breaker but he had the wrestling pedigree in his background I mean Trick certainly does but it wasn't as as point it as say like five 10 years ago when they had that channel from NXT the indie scene to then the main roster of Raw and SmackDown so 158 00:23:25,000 --> 00:23:42,000 16 the yeah go ahead doctor try I was saying and but that's also the Evan flow with this like they'll they'll go like we're looking for independent guys and then they'll do a big rush of like sending guys from the Indies and it's like oh no we want the athletes and I think it's trying to find that mix because the indie guys have that bread and love 159 00:23:42,000 --> 00:24:02,000 professional wrestling those are the guys that will run through all for a company where the athletic guys are like well yeah I'm just using this as a springboard as something else or you know I you know my football career I mean tricks a great example is football career kind of winded down there wasn't a lot of I mean how many things can a guy who's 160 00:24:02,000 --> 00:24:24,000 65 to 50 go out and do yeah he's got a college degree but that college degrees like in liberal arts like there's not a lot of options for like super athletic guys to just go join you know like a hedge fund jump into that so they're always trying to find that balance between like guys just love wrestling and maybe don't have the 161 00:24:24,000 --> 00:24:40,000 athleticism as some other guys and then finding those like super athletes that can do everything but you may have to get them to love wrestling as part of your training process yeah it's a lot of dynamic changes over 16 years the wrestling world has changed the 162 00:24:40,000 --> 00:24:50,000 wrestling industry as a whole the dynamics of it have changed in 16 years and it's it's been a lot of fun to chronolize all of that with all of you here on this 163 00:24:50,000 --> 00:25:06,000 weeks edition of SRT you and thank you for giving us these last 836 weeks of SRT you to to share our thoughts each and every week about the world of professional wrestling so feel free to chime in over at patreon.com/srtupodcast and share your thoughts moments favorite things from SRT we'd love to hear that 164 00:25:06,000 --> 00:25:18,000 a favorite episode that's in out to you from all the years of Dr. Trey and I do in this podcast each and every week Dr. Trey let's get to last week's edition of Smackdown so Lexa Bliss and Cody Rhodes they've qualified 165 00:25:18,000 --> 00:25:31,000 for the elimination chamber which begs the question what is next now for Jacob Fattu and Sammy Sammy's in because I have no clue and a name that we thought was going to be involved in 166 00:25:31,000 --> 00:25:46,000 WrestleMania in a world championship match a person that we actually had predicted to win a Royal Rumble last month doesn't sound like they'll be WrestleMania bound as Bianca Belair recently got finger surgery that same finger 167 00:25:46,000 --> 00:26:02,000 surgery that she suffered at last year's WrestleMania according to her social media and I stress that by saying social media because it knows and today's wrestling this could have been six months ago just got finger surgery either for the first time or again I thought she already had surgery 168 00:26:02,000 --> 00:26:14,000 to repair that injury and she'll be out for almost an entire year then if this is all to be true we never know it out days without W is doing creative which is insane to think of for a finger injury that we would have 169 00:26:14,000 --> 00:26:26,000 out for most entire year Dr. Trey your thoughts from some of the things on Smackdown Alexa and Cody qualify what's next for Jacob and Sammy and it doesn't sound like Bianca Belair is WrestleMania bound 170 00:26:26,000 --> 00:26:36,000 Yeah Cody winning wasn't I guess a surprise but it just kind of leaves a surprise as what do you do with Jacob and Sammy 171 00:26:36,000 --> 00:26:52,000 I don't know I still feel like this is going to be a being a multi-man world title match I just I can't see any other way around it because like well if you do Cody and Drew I mean how many times have we seen that match in the last 172 00:26:52,000 --> 00:27:08,000 six years although yeah it's a big fight it's it's to the LAR to the more top guys and wrestling the day but you know like it's almost it's almost on parallel with Cody and Roman like I don't know if I want to see it again 173 00:27:08,000 --> 00:27:20,000 anytime soon so I think you've got to add some layers to that Alexa qualifying I still think that there's going to be some kind of Alexa Charlotte breakup during chamber coming out to lead to 174 00:27:20,000 --> 00:27:34,000 getting them to WrestleMania the Bianca injury is is interesting to me because not only is she out but we we've seen the pictures of like Montez not looking like Montez like kind of looking like Montez is gone dead body 175 00:27:34,000 --> 00:27:45,000 and I don't know if that's because he's been helping her convales and recover from this but finger injuries are super tricky like I you go back I think you and I were we've been 176 00:27:45,000 --> 00:28:01,000 having a couple of times when I've had double wrist surgery I've had multiple surgeries on fingers as well like sometimes they don't reset properly sometimes it does drag on and on and on it just it's a shame for her because like you said we've kind of pencil 177 00:28:01,000 --> 00:28:14,000 there into this spot with Jade but I think this opens the door for Tiffany to kind of regain that spot so that's kind of where I see that whole thing going but are you with me on the on the Cody Drew Jacob Sammy kind of angle I am you 178 00:28:14,000 --> 00:28:30,000 I thought that this was going to be a triple threat matches we've been talking about I now think this is going to be a fatal four way I think it's going to be Drew Cody Jacob and Sammy at WrestleMania right now I just I don't know how they get there with the 179 00:28:30,000 --> 00:28:40,000 elimination chamber spots in place but my hope is that this becomes a fatal four way because I think that is more interesting than a Drew versus Cody rematch. 180 00:28:40,000 --> 00:28:53,000 Yeah I mean I'm in the same boat like I don't know how you get there as well because you know my thought process you know mother so ago was and we've seen Drew do this we've seen 181 00:28:53,000 --> 00:29:06,000 Drew keep getting involved in you know we some take Cody out of the rumble we saw him take Jake about this match you know Friday night like if he keeps interacting himself into this I could see Nick all this 182 00:29:06,000 --> 00:29:22,000 making an executive decision but right now with the chamber match like if Cody wins the chamber like how then do you digress to getting Jacob and Sammy into this now there's always a possibility we have a wild car match up with some of the 183 00:29:22,000 --> 00:29:36,000 losers from the you know previous you know elimination chamber matchups and they get a shot to get in but then even then it's only going to be one guy so then I just trying to figure out how they get there is 184 00:29:36,000 --> 00:29:44,000 really interesting I the booking yourself into a corner so to speak aspect kind of feels like it's kicking in right now. 185 00:29:44,000 --> 00:30:01,000 Yeah I'm almost starting to be in favor of them not doing elimination chamber before WrestleMania anymore because I do feel like it's it's you warning them into a corner that they can get out of and we saw that last year with the EO 186 00:30:01,000 --> 00:30:16,000 Rhea Bianca stuff like you and I did not love that build it was clunky it was odd it was a weird way to get re in the match like she signed the contract and they were like oh well I guess she saw the contract so she's now in the 187 00:30:16,000 --> 00:30:26,000 WrestleMania match and like then the theory is well what if I so I don't enter the rumble and our truth comes down in these signs the contract for let's say Cody versus Drew is in the actual 188 00:30:26,000 --> 00:30:41,000 threat match like last year I guess so I guess it is so I gotta do is yeah I gotta do a steal the contract and sign it in your end and I'm like I have I don't think that works if I go to buy a house if a guy runs into my 189 00:30:41,000 --> 00:30:52,000 Realtors office and he signs the paperwork it's still my name printed on the contract I don't think he gets to buy the house like that is just it's weird like they think 190 00:30:52,000 --> 00:31:07,000 adults don't know how contract actually work like can I run in if I know that Aaron judge is about to sign his like $600 million contract at a certain location can I run in knock him down and sign the contract and the Yankees at the pay 191 00:31:07,000 --> 00:31:17,000 $600 million yeah I guess so I mean that's what that was taught us I I I've been mentioned at the last couple weeks on the show now I think they got to find a way to move 192 00:31:17,000 --> 00:31:31,000 the elimination chamber off of February or just take whoever whoever whichever champion doesn't get picked so like you know Romans pick punk okay great Drew's got a chamber match for the world title and that's how we get the 193 00:31:31,000 --> 00:31:39,000 defendant don't make it a number one contenders for WrestleMania yeah and they've been doing that for the last several years where it's like this number one contenders for the 194 00:31:39,000 --> 00:31:49,000 WrestleMania match which makes a ton of sense I get it but then don't do storylines where you're intertwining multiple people because if Jacob and Sammy are not part of this bill 195 00:31:49,000 --> 00:31:57,000 Dr. Trey it's going to look really weird now and then also what do you do with them I mean do you put Jacob and Sammy in a match and say hey guys 196 00:31:57,000 --> 00:32:08,000 whoever wins this gets a title shop Friday on Smackdown like I just it's it's it feels like a you know a consolation prize and then I'm just kind of like 197 00:32:08,000 --> 00:32:17,000 all right just kind of tune out like you if you're trying to build new stars and keep the top of your card heavy and this is one thing you and I talked about or last couple years 198 00:32:17,000 --> 00:32:31,000 with Smackdown was like it just felt it was Cody and nobody else and then Drew came on the scene like are you got Cody and Drew and nobody else well now you're building Sammy back up you're building Jacob's up there you got to make it seem like they actually have a chance to actually 199 00:32:31,000 --> 00:32:45,000 send that top level so I think you have to include in this match otherwise everything else is just you know LA night fighting Logan Paul tight stuff or it's like this doesn't really mean anything yeah they they do a really good job with some of the high profile 200 00:32:45,000 --> 00:32:54,000 feuds like any time Roman Reigns involved like it's very well done and well written but some of these guys and girls that you feel like are going to be breaking through 201 00:32:54,000 --> 00:33:05,640 LA night's a great example Sammy Zane is one for me Jacob hot two is another one for me it just feels like they're creative is blocked by by I guess the Romans and the 202 00:33:05,640 --> 00:33:18,000 Codies of the world which I understand I mean I would make a very strong case that if Jacob and Sammy are added to this match at some point then yeah they should be there's 203 00:33:18,000 --> 00:33:30,000 a place that you can make for both of them to winning world the world championship WrestleMania certainly so it's it's something to really keep an eye on and then it makes you wonder like let's say 204 00:33:30,000 --> 00:33:38,000 let's say Cody wins elimination chamber and then they spend those four weeks of Smackdown building towards adding Sammy and Jacob to that match to make it a 205 00:33:38,000 --> 00:33:51,000 does it feel like the elimination chamber match was basically pointless because Cody had a qualify for the match and then win that match against five other people this is just all assumptions here and then gets that title match with with true 206 00:33:51,000 --> 00:34:00,000 McIntyre is is Sammy and Jacob got a beat five other people to be part of that match it's it's weird and I think a lot of this is an 207 00:34:00,000 --> 00:34:06,000 example of the stuff that we talked about last week were WWE's kind of scrambling right now with the low attendance in the direction of 208 00:34:06,000 --> 00:34:16,000 WrestleMania so you make sure wonder if this is a result of that it certainly feels that way and if the result of that is Jacob and Sammy getting burned at some of the most important times of the year 209 00:34:16,000 --> 00:34:25,000 because maybe WWE creative doesn't look at it this way but me as a fan watching at home doing this podcast if Jacob and Sammy are not involved I do think it hurts 210 00:34:25,000 --> 00:34:39,000 for a period of time in 2026 and it's a hard time to get out of and you could say that right now with with LA night as well which there's some news on LA night that we will get to here in just a little bit regards to our WrestleMania 42 card roundup 211 00:34:39,000 --> 00:34:49,000 let's switch over to the red brand doctor tray we had oska and javon Evans qualify for the elimination chamber match Evans defeated Dominic 212 00:34:49,000 --> 00:35:10,000 Gunther who or what is in the crate that was delivered to raw this past week and a tribute to AJ styles play takes place this Monday on raw your thoughts on the new additions to the elimination chamber who you think is in the crate and the tribute to AJ styles that we watching raw on Monday in Atlanta GA 213 00:35:10,000 --> 00:35:35,000 the java is java Evans the new colisto and I mean that is no no no no no no no they just they're just they're just putting them in the match because he can do something crazy while inside the chamber like I don't think it's that bad but like it's just like alright you have dom you have go with there I guess in in creatives mine they have a different direction for dom and go through to go into WrestleMania season 214 00:35:35,000 --> 00:35:52,000 and getting java in arguably the main event match at chamber kind of is good for his career so I'm excited for that I was kind of hoping for a dom win just because you know everybody knows now I went from hating dom to actually being a dom fangirl almost 215 00:35:52,000 --> 00:36:21,000 Gunther getting taken out by dragon Lee was kind of crazy to me like especially with the bell I'm like I didn't see that coming but maybe we get Gunther beating up dragon Lee on the AJ special and that leads to AJ getting one more match at mania I don't really know where you go with this because it just seems odd that you're taking one of guys who was maybe the second or third most no member in the LWO 216 00:36:21,000 --> 00:36:37,000 and he's funny I'm maybe we're getting Ray and goother at mania for goother to kill off the Rey Mysterio career like I just I just don't know where you're going with a dragon Lee goother feud right now 217 00:36:37,000 --> 00:36:43,000 Oscar getting the chamber I just we all love oscars so anytime we can see you're in the matches great. 218 00:36:43,000 --> 00:37:04,000 It just I don't think anybody's expecting osc at a win so it's kind of one of these were like yeah really it's it's great but could we have used somebody else in that spot maybe to get a little more feature and then all I can think about when I see and I saw a bully race like the whole crate angle is such a Vince McMahon idea. 219 00:37:04,000 --> 00:37:16,000 I just I just want to see some I want to see our truth come up and just are yelling out what's in the box what's in the box I got it's is it's the very very Vince tight move which I don't hate. 220 00:37:16,000 --> 00:37:24,000 But I saw something go I was Jericho and I'm like I don't think you can put a human being in a box for like two weeks and think they'll live. 221 00:37:24,000 --> 00:37:34,000 So I just I don't know where they're going with it it maybe they have a wrestlemania gooker a wrestle gooker that might pop out the box who knows. 222 00:37:34,000 --> 00:37:44,000 Yeah there's a lot of different things there so Oscar getting at it's elimination chamber is a great addition there that the stars of elimination chamber match this far for the women. 223 00:37:44,000 --> 00:38:13,000 Javon Evans I love this for him I think this is a great thing for him to be part of and and wrestle with some of the top stars I have high expectations for Evans the tribute to AJ styles yeah of course there's a lot of people he was at the performance center this past week's people are like he's not he's wrestling he's wrestling a wrestlemania and I guess it's possible right I mean you mentioned Gunther before maybe they they do do Gunther and AJ styles again I have a theory on Gunther right now that will probably be tied more towards the next. 224 00:38:13,000 --> 00:38:30,000 Be tied more towards the end of the show as to why his creative at wrestle heading in a wrestle man is kind of screwed up at the moment the point that you made there before I sort of given my thoughts dr. Trey about who or what is in the crate when I originally sought of like oh this is Jericho and then I read some reports about Jericho this week. 225 00:38:30,000 --> 00:38:55,000 And then I was like okay this is going to go one or both ways and it's like a stupid sponsor for WrestleMania like the what is their the cell phone plan that they have that is the cricket wireless like the cricket wireless mascot comes out I'm like oh Jesus or it's like a really bad host for WrestleMania comes out like it's you know fluffy glacius or something. 226 00:38:55,000 --> 00:39:24,000 And then I saw some things that I didn't know were out there I guess former AW star Dan housens contract has come up and there are signs that are pointing towards this being Dan housing the box of the crate and that to me if that's true that makes sense for his character if Dan housing is in there in deputy and he is signed with WWE this makes total sense dr. Trey so I 227 00:39:24,000 --> 00:39:37,000 don't think it's Jericho I do think there's a possibility it is some sort of sponsor or something dumb that we all hate but the Dan housing is is one that I'm like this could be interesting I almost don't want to read anything 228 00:39:37,000 --> 00:39:47,000 further because I want to be surprised because as of right now I didn't know Dan housing was a free agent in good land in WWE but Dan housing makes the most sense to me right now if that's to be true. 229 00:39:47,000 --> 00:39:54,000 Yeah but what do you call him Dan housing he's not getting he's not getting the Dan housing name Mitch housing. 230 00:39:54,000 --> 00:40:04,000 Hey I'll go with Sam housing Sam housing I think he's Dan housing I think it's one of those cases where you keep the name. 231 00:40:04,000 --> 00:40:08,000 How's in Dan how about that housing Dan like Daniel Bryan. 232 00:40:08,000 --> 00:40:37,000 And Dan housing sounds German so that's why I got there needs to beat him up but I and as you're talking you mentioned fluffy I was like what is Berk Chrysler Berk Chrysler shirtless for like three weeks in the box you know like that I think yeah it's I but you are in my right like this is a very Vince tight gimmick thing to have this random box up wasn't didn't we do that with like theory also at one point and you know it's always like this always some kind of what was the thing. 233 00:40:37,000 --> 00:40:42,000 What was the thing with theory and Vince for a while that was yeah that was like weird. 234 00:40:42,000 --> 00:40:48,000 Yeah you know it's just one of those things where it's like all right this is not really a wrestling thing. 235 00:40:48,000 --> 00:40:53,000 That's Vince love to awesome theory and wanted to make him the next guy. 236 00:40:53,000 --> 00:41:09,000 Maybe it's KS one maybe he finally recovered from that I know it was I show speed maybe he finally recovered from the Braun Breaker spear from Royal Rumble last year and easing the box and he comes out like like Robo cop because they had a piece him back together. 237 00:41:09,000 --> 00:41:21,000 Could you be the prime the prime energy bottle mascot yeah something stupid yeah I just it's there's so many ways to go maybe it's Mickey James and that's why Adam Pierce is sending it to Nick all this. 238 00:41:21,000 --> 00:41:26,000 That would be interesting but don't you think Nick would be like hey where's my wife been the last couple weeks. 239 00:41:26,000 --> 00:41:31,000 It's wrestling I mean nobody brought to see him punk that his wife had been missing from raw for a month. 240 00:41:31,000 --> 00:41:44,000 True true you know so I mean okay we had we've had one Seth you know one thing Seth alluded to with Becky Lynch and that was right after they all turned on him with the vision and then we have her her Becky talk about Seth that much. 241 00:41:44,000 --> 00:41:53,000 It's occasionally this AJ food so pop some but yeah wives are nobody's asked Montez for where Bianca was on the show so yeah there you go. 242 00:41:53,000 --> 00:42:06,000 Something about so the Kray will be at tomorrow night Smackdown so we'll see how Nick all this reacts to a crate that says do not open until the nation chamber delivered a WWE so yeah next things up there. 243 00:42:06,000 --> 00:42:17,000 This week's WrestleMania 42 card roundup a lot of stuff is pretty quiet right now Dr. Trey however there are some news and notes out there Stephanie Valkor may live Morgan cry on raw. 244 00:42:17,000 --> 00:42:28,000 I'm not really sure why I have to watch the subtitles to figure out why she cried but it has felt like it's going to be Stephanie Valkor versus live Morgan this entire time right now Dr. Trey doesn't it. 245 00:42:28,000 --> 00:42:46,000 Yeah and and Dom has to be the translator I love this is like Dom as like whisper in live's ear what Stephanie is saying because although she has spent an inordinate amount time around Raquel Rodriguez Roxanne Perez and Dom Nick Mysterio apparently live knows zero Spanish. 246 00:42:46,000 --> 00:42:49,000 Yeah so umpoco umpoco esponial. 247 00:42:49,000 --> 00:43:12,000 So those are the officials and then some like rumored what are we thinking stuff so there was a report out there this week from wrestling observer newsletter that the Brock Lesion direction for raw is likely to be teased at the 223 raw and Atlanta when he returns so he's due to return at raw this Monday but we've heard no official amounts at the Brock will be there. 248 00:43:12,000 --> 00:43:27,000 There was a tease at the rumble of Opa Femme and after the rumble we were only told that it was not a sure thing yet we do know that in the lineup in late January for the show that Lesnar was listed as facing L.A. Knight. 249 00:43:27,000 --> 00:43:33,000 Dr. Trey your thoughts here if there's a potential Brock Lesnar versus L.A. Night match for WrestleMania to 42. 250 00:43:33,000 --> 00:43:59,000 Well it kind of makes sense because we've seen L.A. Night now the last couple weeks on raw like well was it last week he came back week before he came back basically saying he was going to run through everybody in the vision and although Brock is not officially a vision member he is aligned with the vision and he's a Paul Haming guy so anytime you attack Paul Haming you have to possibly face the wrath of Brock Lesnar so. 251 00:43:59,000 --> 00:44:09,000 I don't know about you but I totally am getting Dean Ambrose Brock Lesnar vibes like I just don't think of this match comes to fruition it's going to go very well. 252 00:44:09,000 --> 00:44:15,000 I just don't feel good about the match up for either guy if that's the direction they go. 253 00:44:15,000 --> 00:44:22,000 Like what's the like what's the upside I mean if L.A. Night beats Brock that's that's the upside it's a fluke but if Brock L.A. Night. 254 00:44:22,000 --> 00:44:33,000 No no no I don't think there's a fluid I think they I think they set a precedence with that whole Cody and Brock angle were like Cody came out stronger after feeding Lesnar in my eyes at least he did. 255 00:44:33,000 --> 00:44:42,000 Yeah I mean it's it's I guess it's kind of how you put the match together more than anything else because you know the first time Cody beat Brock it was kind of like that we're kind of roll up. 256 00:44:42,000 --> 00:44:57,000 And so it felt flukeish and if L.A. Night beats Brock Lesnar WrestleMania with a school boy or a small package or something like that yeah I don't know if that really helps the L.A. Night character but if he gets a clean win over Brock at WrestleMania. 257 00:44:57,000 --> 00:45:11,000 Kudos to him and it does jump him way up that ladder but if we get a you know five minute Brock you know seven F five match in L.A. Night loses cleanly like what do you what do you then do with L.A. Night. 258 00:45:11,000 --> 00:45:18,000 No it's got to be like that summer slam match between Cody and Brock or like L.A. Night gets a victory you don't get some respect from Brock so. 259 00:45:18,000 --> 00:45:27,000 I don't know we'll see what the Brock Lesnar direction is the reports are saying that we'll figure out more to become clear on Monday's edition of raw and Atlanta. 260 00:45:27,000 --> 00:45:36,000 We talked about Bianca Belair's finger injury it felt like to me that they were all signs reporting towards Jade versus Bianca for WrestleMania. 261 00:45:36,000 --> 00:45:52,000 If you go back to surely after or right around the time Jade was chasing the title and after she wanted a lot of stuff was being teased with Jade card gill and Charlotte Flair and Charlotte isn't the elimination chamber match I know you think Charlotte versus Alexa on the table. 262 00:45:52,000 --> 00:46:03,000 If Bianca's a no go I think Jade versus Charlotte Flair is the match WWE wants to put on the on the card for WrestleMania 42 Dr. Trey. 263 00:46:03,000 --> 00:46:10,000 What do you feel about that match and is that one you could foresee happening at WrestleMania this year. 264 00:46:10,000 --> 00:46:23,000 I think if you ask me this like six months ago I would have been like totally against it because I think the Charlotte Alexa pairing has done wonders for Charlotte Flair like we've seen I don't know if you like I feel like we've seen a much more. 265 00:46:23,000 --> 00:46:31,000 Real Charlotte Flair over the last you know six eight months with this pairing as opposed to the. 266 00:46:31,000 --> 00:46:40,000 You know manufactured queen Charlotte Flair if that's the route they go I'm probably okay with it I think I would especially we're trying to elevate. 267 00:46:40,000 --> 00:46:51,000 Some of your younger town I think I'd rather the spot go to Tiffany and then don't forget like we still have a Naomi return at some point as well and she's owed a title match from somebody but. 268 00:46:51,000 --> 00:46:59,000 I think it'd be kind of cool to see Naomi somehow get factored in but I don't think that's happening no I mean she hasn't given birth yet. 269 00:46:59,000 --> 00:47:09,000 No I thought she gave birth I don't think so and when she when she give that title up right after summer slam I think it was like late August September time. 270 00:47:09,000 --> 00:47:17,000 Well then she'd be about to so okay what was she she she had been like eight weeks pregnant then right eight to 12 months. 271 00:47:17,000 --> 00:47:27,000 I mean you and I have kids it's like nine months so I mean from July to you know April is roughly about nine months. 272 00:47:27,000 --> 00:47:44,000 So yeah but yeah it'd be too fast that she hadn't had a baby as too fat but if we do Charlotte in Jade I'm okay with it now I think the the new version of Charlotte's much more likeable and the way they're kind of position Jade is just like this indestructible character right now I think is good. 273 00:47:44,000 --> 00:48:01,000 I also though I don't the idea of Tiffany getting some come up and from what basically was a glorified squash match when Jade won the title you know Tiffany getting some revenge I think would be good for her also so either one of the you know six foot tall blonde headed girls on fire. 274 00:48:01,000 --> 00:48:08,000 And then I have down I think the why six versus MFT's could could land on the WrestleMania card doctor try. 275 00:48:08,000 --> 00:48:14,000 Now are you doing like just a straight up tag are we doing like family against family. 276 00:48:14,000 --> 00:48:21,000 I think it's family versus family yeah eight me eight person tag match I think so. 277 00:48:21,000 --> 00:48:31,000 Yeah I think you just got to put something else on it to like not a cage match maybe like you know the Mountain Dew Black Black like match or you know I just feel like you got 278 00:48:31,000 --> 00:48:41,000 put something else like you know like a like a some mowing street fight where they just fight all of the building kind of like anarchy in the arena like I feel like you got 279 00:48:41,000 --> 00:48:52,000 put something else on it like just a straight up eight man tag I think the fans will kind of check out on but if you add is like an element of chaos to it with you know them fighting all of the place I think fans would be way more 280 00:48:52,000 --> 00:49:00,000 into that style of match yeah I could see some sort of like sponsor being in there it's like the cricket wireless they dumb crickets all over the place on them something. 281 00:49:00,000 --> 00:49:14,000 So there's some of the rumored what I expect any event you saw from the past week doctor that you think could land on the WrestleMania card or some seeds for plant that I just feel like it was like a kind of a quite weak for any potential WrestleMania foreshadowing. 282 00:49:14,000 --> 00:49:28,000 Yeah I'm I'm you know like you as we're going through the car kind of dancing around for who's going to partner up with who by WrestleMania season like I'm kind of back on this fin dumb thing right now like I think that'll end up being a match but 283 00:49:28,000 --> 00:49:46,000 because I think we're starting to see once again they're teasing like the whole like fin going so we're seeing the offing getting his old music back fin telling dumb and JD to stay out of it you know domes a double champ but not defending the tie I think we can see that play into something there as well. 284 00:49:46,000 --> 00:50:01,000 And then just what do you do with oba if you're not doing over and Brock you want over on your WrestleMania card and who lines up as his dance partner to kind of get him that exposure and it can be kit Wilson even though we all love kit Wilson. 285 00:50:01,000 --> 00:50:15,000 No no they've been saving that for Smackdown so it's Friday Smackdown be kit Wilson versus oba 2 so there you go well obviously look at next week's WrestleMania 42 card roundup in about two weeks when we come out of elimination chamber it should be a hell of a lot clearer. 286 00:50:15,000 --> 00:50:44,000 On the direction of WrestleMania and maybe a lot more clear next week I would imagine the live Morgan selection is official because again like you point out doctor we're going into elimination chamber and the elimination chamber participants have no idea what title they could be vying for for WrestleMania right now and it's you know less than 10 days out switching gears to all elite wrestling doctor tray coming out of a W grandstrain Australia which was a very fun 2.5 hour show on TNT this past weekend highly recommend for anybody to check it out for you of the day. 287 00:50:44,000 --> 00:51:13,000 And then everybody to check it out for you have not yet mjf versus hangman page is official for revolution it will be a hangman it'll be the hangman putting up his chances at the AW world title similar to how Cody Rhodes did it in the early days of a W so if hangman page loses he will never be able to challenge for the AW world championship as long as he is alive as he put I hate that stipulation I think it does nothing for no one. 288 00:51:13,000 --> 00:51:25,000 Other than like can they really do this and Cody Rhodes was like that was one of his biggest regrets is he should have never gone into that storyline and then here they are doing it again. 289 00:51:25,000 --> 00:51:41,000 Let's talk about the stipulation here first year doctor tray that I have a question for you about this match up because I am getting old time vibes with mjf and hangman page but the stipulation added I hate it your thoughts on hangman putting up his chances at the AW world title as long as he is alive. 290 00:51:41,000 --> 00:51:47,000 No longer competing for it should he lose mjf at a to be revolution in March 15th. 291 00:51:47,000 --> 00:51:53,000 So if he dies you can challenge yeah that's the only way they could spread the ashes on top of champion when. 292 00:51:53,000 --> 00:52:08,000 Yeah the ghost of hangman page versus mjf no I hate I hate stipulations like this like the ones where it's like you can't challenge as long as that person is champion those ones I'm kind of okay with that makes sense. 293 00:52:08,000 --> 00:52:20,000 It because it's like okay how many times are we going to see mjf and hangman okay this is the last time as long as mjf's champ all right cool I get that but to center say he can never challenge for it again it's like. 294 00:52:20,000 --> 00:52:36,000 I almost like you're painting yourself into a collect there's no there's not a good situation comes out of it because if hangman wins smart fans go well that's why they put the stipulation on it and if you lose is then you can't put one of your top guys in the title picture as long as you live so. 295 00:52:36,000 --> 00:52:58,000 It's not a good look like I'm almost more tempted for like careers yeah I you know like the retirement match I'm a little bit more in favor of that then I am you know these times because like does he roads had one of those and then he came back and did like the midnight writer gimmick you know it's like okay well cool let's let's have hangman come out in a mask. 296 00:52:58,000 --> 00:53:20,000 Kind of doing that same dusty gimmick and then everybody you know which then again people say they're stealing from w's mass gimmick but it you can do something like that and then mjf you know be like I know it's him I'll put my title on against this mass person and if you lose against unmask you know that's everything but typically these stipulations never really worked out for anybody involved. 297 00:53:20,000 --> 00:53:27,900 Yeah, I'm not I'm not and of it. I watched the segment, which was very well done on Dynamite and then I heard the stipulation like ARC wrap. 298 00:53:27,900 --> 00:53:41,060 Like what are we doing? Like this just did not work with Cody. Please don't do it with hangman. So if hangman wins we know we know if they worry about it but I'm not feeling that I'm feeling that going in a different direction. 299 00:53:41,060 --> 00:53:54,400 And then I wrote this down, Dr. Trey before the whole thing on Wednesday night coming out of Grand Slam. I feel like MJF versus hangman page is AW's version of Flair versus Sting in WCW. 300 00:53:54,400 --> 00:54:10,640 Do you do you like the comparisons there? I feel like MJF and hangman page day one guys homegrown talent even though they you know had their paths in New Japan and the independent scenes prior to I feel like these are the two guys that really carry the flag for AW. 301 00:54:10,640 --> 00:54:19,300 Do you like the comparisons? Do you see that as well when you look at page and Maxwell Jacob Freeman battling out once again? 302 00:54:19,300 --> 00:54:28,900 I mean, I don't know about Sting. I may maybe I would say Flair and Dusty and a little bit more like the really upscale rich, great promo guy versus the blue collar guy. 303 00:54:28,900 --> 00:54:43,900 It's a little bit of rock and a lot. You know, just you know, rock as a heel. He was kind of the cool heel and MJF for all intensive purposes to you know the smarter fans like us is that cool heel like great promo guy great talker. 304 00:54:43,900 --> 00:54:49,900 You know, $10,000 shirt for the rock max has got a $7,000 scarf. 305 00:54:49,900 --> 00:55:13,400 You know like that and then hangman's your blue collar cowboy you know down and dirty type guy. So yeah, I mean and these are one of those rivalries that really can stand the test of time because there's such different characters that they can always be on the opposite and then when you have that weird moment where they're on the same side you're like fans consider go. 306 00:55:13,400 --> 00:55:41,400 Like there's a time when you know Flair and Dusty were teaming up and there's been times when Austin and rock have been on the same side like strange bedfellows in a sense, but yeah, the comparison makes sense because like I said, it's just so it's two characters that are so different that they match up so well because it is like the blue collar fan versus the upscale fan like we appreciate that because we know what it's like to you know, hate the rich kid to hate. 307 00:55:41,400 --> 00:55:46,400 The guy who has everything handed to him, but it is a great comparison. 308 00:55:46,400 --> 00:55:52,400 And then the close of dynamite this past Wednesday in a great match were strictly defeated Kenny Omega. 309 00:55:52,400 --> 00:55:57,400 He snaps looks desperate maybe turns you in the process as well. 310 00:55:57,400 --> 00:56:05,400 Close to the show saying he needed this Omega won't be at revolution according to reports due to scheduling conflicts. 311 00:56:05,400 --> 00:56:10,400 So this is the way to write them off a little bit. What do you think of the match, Dr. Tram? What do you think of the current direction? 312 00:56:10,400 --> 00:56:14,400 Now sort of Strickland coming out of last science dynamite love the match. 313 00:56:14,400 --> 00:56:20,400 I thought it was fantastic hard hitting like those are two the when they're on fire. 314 00:56:20,400 --> 00:56:26,400 Those are two of the most intense guys in the ring like everything they do looks freaking like snap. 315 00:56:26,400 --> 00:56:38,400 You know, I mean it's just super crisp in the ring. I'm I'm waiting to pass judgment on what you do with swerve after this. 316 00:56:38,400 --> 00:56:47,400 Because if your champ is MJF and easy heal and then swerve is turns you're kind of putting a ceiling on swerve. 317 00:56:47,400 --> 00:57:01,400 If it's more swerve is just desperate to get back to the title and he's kind of in that tweeter character mode and then we end up getting like MJF and swerve and you know hangman some kind of combination coming out of it those three going at it. 318 00:57:01,400 --> 00:57:03,400 That's a better move. 319 00:57:03,400 --> 00:57:16,400 I just hate when you turn a guy heal and there's a ceiling right above that that they can't get past so I'm hoping it's the ladder instead of the former and where it's it's more swerve is just desperate. 320 00:57:16,400 --> 00:57:22,400 We saw that with hangman and it led hangman to go heal for a while and then eventually come back to baby face. 321 00:57:22,400 --> 00:57:32,400 And then the last thing I want to bring up on this week's edition of the show is there's some reports out there in regards to Chris Cherico's AW contract and WWE rumors. 322 00:57:32,400 --> 00:57:38,400 According to Fightful select Sean Ross Sappy is reporting that Jericho's believed to still be on a contract with AW. 323 00:57:38,400 --> 00:57:46,400 His deal may have been quote frozen during his time off we saw this was Ray Phoenix as well. Meaning the contract clock hasn't expired yet. 324 00:57:46,400 --> 00:57:51,400 A WWE return is being considered but nothing is finalized and the status is still uncertain. 325 00:57:51,400 --> 00:57:58,400 The biggest hold up is Jericho reportedly worries about WWE restricting his outside projects with music media, the crews appearances etc. 326 00:57:58,400 --> 00:58:15,400 The AW currently allows no AW departure notice has gone out internally suggesting he hasn't actually left the company and the overall situation right now is he's legally tied to AW for now but Wayne Freedom versus a potential final WWE run. 327 00:58:15,400 --> 00:58:23,400 So contracts frozen and maybe because he's taken this time off it could have been due to injury or or they may have worked out a new deal. 328 00:58:23,400 --> 00:58:31,400 That was another thing that Sean Ross Sappy put out there Dr. Trey. The Jericho stuff is interested because you go back to even late summer early fall. 329 00:58:31,400 --> 00:58:43,400 All the reports were saying that it's expected that after his contract expires Jericho he's going to be landing WWE could debut as early as the first Raw in 2026 in the Barclays Center and that didn't happen. 330 00:58:43,400 --> 00:58:53,400 Everybody felt like a good happen at the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia that didn't happen here we are February 19 still not under WWE contract and this report happened. 331 00:58:53,400 --> 00:59:07,400 I'm started to lead the pendulum that maybe he is sticking around with a w your thoughts on the latest with Chris Jericho where you think he potentially ends up here in 2026 where's the next spot he he wrestles in as a WWE was where was it WWE? 332 00:59:07,400 --> 00:59:27,400 I still think it's WWE but it has shifted where it was like 80% sure now it's maybe 60% 55% because Jericho's a very smart businessman and typically if contracts are frozen it is because of injury or somebody has personally requested time off. 333 00:59:27,400 --> 00:59:37,400 And I don't know if Jericho would put himself in a position where he knows he can't leave when he wants to like he knew what his contract is up. 334 00:59:37,400 --> 00:59:55,400 I can't see him going hey let me give me some time off knowing that Tony Khan could easily freeze the contract and hold it all up so I don't think it's that I think there's something I think he's trying to figure out what's best for the end of his career and the next thing he does after. 335 00:59:55,400 --> 01:00:16,400 I still think that going to get you more exposure for your other projects and I think that is the biggest hold up is you know the old school w would let him do anything else but we've seen wwe guys go other places we saw nattie pop up and blood sport and end wwa we've seen some of the pop up in other areas. 336 01:00:16,400 --> 01:00:27,400 So I think they're more open to it. I think this is kind of more of a negotiating tactic to kind of make sure he gets the flexibility with a wwe contract as opposed to going back to a wwe. 337 01:00:27,400 --> 01:00:35,400 Yeah I prefer to see I think for a w's it's like the way the things are going for them. I don't think they need Jericho. 338 01:00:35,400 --> 01:00:50,400 I talked about this six months ago it felt like the Jericho experiment in w an a w kind of ran its course he had a great run and then towards the middle and end of it it kind of soured and it just felt like a w really didn't need him right now and a w is really firing on all cylinders. 339 01:00:50,400 --> 01:00:59,400 And as much as I love and respect Chris Jericho is a wrestler the long time fan of me wants to see him and his career in wwe and and I that's where I ultimately want to see him go. 340 01:00:59,400 --> 01:01:28,400 But I feel like right now it's like 55% of me feels like he lands back in a w and 45% feels like he lands in wwe because there is uncertainty now that is surrounding this entire thing I did feel like he was going to be part of it right now and I think maybe that could be why some WrestleMania matches are kind of up in the air and there's confusion around I think Gunther is one of those people that maybe could have been earmarked for Chris Jericho match at WrestleMania and his WrestleMania path is is. 341 01:01:28,400 --> 01:01:57,400 Path is is kind of convoluted at the moment so yeah it's if this was strides that this report came out there I kind of made me feel like that then maybe there's this expectation that he returns at and revolution which wouldn't surprise me at all either so hopefully we see Chris Jericho back on our television whether it be for wwe or w in the soon to near future I prefer to see it in wwe because I don't think a w needs him at this point so there you go that is the latest with why to J I know he hates that Chris Jericho. 342 01:01:57,400 --> 01:02:26,400 With that being said let's close up shop on this week's edition of SRT we got a couple plugs and sponsor the way you could download the show and support it's over at patreon.com/srtupodcast you could download us on the podcast feed of your choice whether be Apple spot or review download this podcast don't forget to rate review and subscribe as the algorithm is king for us to keep climbing those charts on all those podcast platforms you can fall individually on X for myself at SRT U.
