- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. Ten years ago today, something magical
- 0:21Speaker 1: happened in the National Football League game. What was it?
- 0:25Speaker 1: We'll tell you a little bit later. Also coming up
- 0:28Speaker 1: this hour, there is a new number one in the
- 0:32Speaker 1: power rankings. Dan hand Zeus will be here to explain
- 0:36Speaker 1: who's the top the charts. This is NFL Now, NFL
- 0:39Speaker 1: Network from our newsroom in Los Angeles. My name is
- 0:41Speaker 1: Andrew Cecilli. I don't thank you for watching. We opened
- 0:43Speaker 1: this hour with quarterback news news of an injury in Chicago.
- 0:48Speaker 1: The question is how fad Tom PILLI sero great to
- 0:51Speaker 1: have you is Justin Fields left shoulder. As the Bears
- 0:55Speaker 1: get ready for the Jets this Sunday, Andrew Justin Fields
- 1:01Speaker 1: admitted he was in a lot of pain and that
- 1:03Speaker 1: was pretty obvious watching him moving around the field, especially
- 1:06Speaker 1: in the second half of last week's game. Bears coach
- 1:09Speaker 1: Matt eber Flews says the Fields is day today, team
- 1:12Speaker 1: not confirming any details on exactly what Fields is dealing
- 1:16Speaker 1: with now. In outports reported yesterday it is a dislocated shoulder.
- 1:20Speaker 1: There has been some pushback on that. My understanding is
- 1:24Speaker 1: similar that the shoulder popped out, it popped right back in.
- 1:27Speaker 1: At any rate, Justin Field is one of the toughest
- 1:29Speaker 1: guys that you're going to be around. That's part of
- 1:31Speaker 1: the reason that the Bears love him. If there is
- 1:33Speaker 1: a way for him to go this week against the Jets,
- 1:35Speaker 1: you should anticipate that he is going to go. However,
- 1:38Speaker 1: these are going to be medical decisions with a dynamic
- 1:41Speaker 1: young players. Certainly has looked in recent weeks like a
- 1:43Speaker 1: franchise quarterback. So if the Bears decide to hold Fields back,
- 1:47Speaker 1: it would be Trevor Simeon getting his first Bears start,
- 1:51Speaker 1: a one time jet and a one time jet now
- 1:54Speaker 1: let's get to those jets. For the Bears, it's a
- 1:56Speaker 1: medical decision, it seems. For Robert Salot, and we just
- 1:59Speaker 1: played the sound bite there with Jeff da Tom it's
- 2:02Speaker 1: it's something bigger than that. And and he has Mike
- 2:05Speaker 1: White to choose from, he has Joe Flacco to choose from.
- 2:07Speaker 1: That is, if he decides to bench Zack Wilson. But
- 2:12Speaker 1: last night he didn't want to say that that's yet
- 2:16Speaker 1: what he was doing. That's right, Andrew, But this is
- 2:21Speaker 1: really the first time that Robert Sala has even broached
- 2:24Speaker 1: the idea of potentially sitting Zack Wilson down. He's somebody
- 2:27Speaker 1: that they drafted number two overall in draft. He has
- 2:31Speaker 1: had some injuries, but other than that, he has been
- 2:34Speaker 1: the guy in New York. But he's coming off of
- 2:36Speaker 1: a dreadful performance and a really bad one for the
- 2:39Speaker 1: Jets in that bizarre loss. I think it's fair to
- 2:41Speaker 1: call it that against the Patriots over the weekend. Has
- 2:44Speaker 1: also come under fire for perhaps not entirely taking responsibility
- 2:49Speaker 1: or accountability for the way that he played on a
- 2:52Speaker 1: day that the defense was really good for New York.
- 2:55Speaker 1: So Robert Sala said that he had some time to
- 2:57Speaker 1: take a deep breath, sit back a little bit on
- 2:59Speaker 1: the plane. He now says they are evaluating everything. I
- 3:02Speaker 1: wouldn't anticipate, unlike some prior changes in New York that
- 3:06Speaker 1: Robert soul is simply gonna walk to the podium tomorrow.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Andrew and announced who is starting quarterback is there could
- 3:11Speaker 1: potentially be some gamesmanship during the week and we don't
- 3:14Speaker 1: even know. Is it gonna be Mike White, who played
- 3:16Speaker 1: pretty well free stretch of games last season for New
- 3:19Speaker 1: York or could it be Joe Flacco, who was the
- 3:21Speaker 1: starter when Wilson was out at the start of this season,
- 3:24Speaker 1: but in recent weeks has been number three and inactive
- 3:27Speaker 1: beyond Bull, Zack Wilson and Mike Life. Yeah. A couple
- 3:29Speaker 1: of weeks ago, it did raise some eyebrows ninety minutes
- 3:32Speaker 1: before the game when Joe Flacco was announced its inactive
- 3:35Speaker 1: and Mike White was in there as the number two.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Granted he never took the field Zack Wilson's job at
- 3:40Speaker 1: least for now. All Right, we get the Titans and
- 3:42Speaker 1: the Bengals coming up playoff rematch on Sunday. The Titans
- 3:46Speaker 1: coming off a big win this past Thursday Tom in
- 3:49Speaker 1: Green Bay. Shortly after they landed Friday morning. The wee
- 3:53Speaker 1: hours Friday morning in Nashville, offensive coordinator Todd Downing was
- 3:58Speaker 1: pulled over for d uy. What Rabels say today about
- 4:02Speaker 1: is o c lander. Titans coach Mike Rabel says that
- 4:07Speaker 1: Todd Downing will remain as the offensive coordinator as they
- 4:10Speaker 1: move forward here, but Rabel also left open the door
- 4:13Speaker 1: that that potentially could change somewhere down the line, depending
- 4:16Speaker 1: how things play out with the legal process as well
- 4:19Speaker 1: as the NFL process. In other words, the Titans at
- 4:21Speaker 1: this point are not taking club action against Todd Downing,
- 4:25Speaker 1: who my understanding it is has been back in the
- 4:26Speaker 1: building and working business as usual over the last couple
- 4:29Speaker 1: of days. Here this then would fall under the blanket
- 4:32Speaker 1: of the NFL's personal conduct policy. By and large, those
- 4:36Speaker 1: cases get resolved on the legal front before the NFL
- 4:39Speaker 1: would take action. So quite possible here that the Titans
- 4:42Speaker 1: will have their offensive coordinator with them for the rest
- 4:44Speaker 1: of this season, and any discipline could be end up
- 4:47Speaker 1: happening if again, if any comes next off season or
- 4:50Speaker 1: even later, Todd Downing staying on as O see, at
- 4:53Speaker 1: least for now. Titans Bengals coming up one o'clock on Sunday.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Thank you, Tom Palaicero, our insider today. Now to the
- 5:01Speaker 1: Thanksgiving games. Stretches his hand out, snap place Smit kicked
- 5:06Speaker 1: by Cairo Santos. It is up. It is good for
- 5:09Speaker 1: the end. Get your feast on Bears fans, Thanksgiving Turkey
- 5:15Speaker 1: and the fixings will never taste any better. Here we
- 5:19Speaker 1: go this time for real handed its delivered. The great
- 5:24Speaker 1: Jenkins is waiting with the passage put by Dawson Nuts
- 5:27Speaker 1: who has his second Thanksgiving night touchdown and the Bills
- 5:32Speaker 1: dominating here on the road. All right, that was last Thanksgiving.
- 5:39Speaker 1: This Thanksgiving, oh the job. Turkey is gonna be back
- 5:42Speaker 1: for game day morning. Get tann have Eastern time, Jive.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Turkey is gonna be all over the place. Please leaves
- 5:49Speaker 1: falling on the show. We invite you to wake up
- 5:52Speaker 1: early for the holiday and be there for g D
- 5:55Speaker 1: and Jane Slater in Dallas. Brian Boulding are happy early
- 5:58Speaker 1: Holidays to you both here as we talk about the
- 6:00Speaker 1: game in the afternoon window, the Giants and the Cowboys.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Jane obviously there you see the star are behind her
- 6:05Speaker 1: in Dallas where there's a lot of talk about Odell
- 6:08Speaker 1: Peckham this week, Jane, but there's also a lot of
- 6:09Speaker 1: talk about the running game because we saw Pollard and
- 6:14Speaker 1: Ezekiel Elliott um fully operational, if you will, this past Sunday,
- 6:18Speaker 1: and it was spectacular. Well, folks around here have long
- 6:22Speaker 1: been advocating for this two running back system, arguing that
- 6:26Speaker 1: you need not only Tony Pollard but Ezekiel Elliott, and
- 6:29Speaker 1: you saw that on display on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You had the two rushing touchdowns from Ezekiel Elliott. You
- 6:35Speaker 1: had nearly two hundred yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns
- 6:38Speaker 1: out of the backfield for Tony Pollard, and that is
- 6:42Speaker 1: how you're wearing down opposing defenses. Now, Ezekiel Elliott is
- 6:45Speaker 1: dealing with a little bit of a new situation. They've
- 6:47Speaker 1: got to walk through today, so they're sitting them out
- 6:49Speaker 1: of it. But even he joked about the fact that
- 6:51Speaker 1: he loves the short turnaround, he doesn't love the practice.
- 6:54Speaker 1: He wants to just play in the game. So he
- 6:56Speaker 1: is excited for Sunday. It's gonna be a little bit
- 6:58Speaker 1: of a struggle when you consider the Giants are so
- 7:00Speaker 1: banked up in the secondary at slowing this group down,
- 7:03Speaker 1: because we certainly saw the Vikings having a hard time
- 7:06Speaker 1: with it. If the Cowboys can't get this run game going.
- 7:09Speaker 1: And then say to your point, Brian, a guy like oh,
- 7:11Speaker 1: b J it's the things that get Jerry Jones excited.
- 7:14Speaker 1: It's why he talks about the fact that this is
- 7:17Speaker 1: a team that could make a run at the Super Bowl.
- 7:19Speaker 1: But they need all of these parts to be working
- 7:21Speaker 1: in tandem, and they work better when you've got Ezeka
- 7:24Speaker 1: Ellett and Tony Paul down in the field together. I
- 7:27Speaker 1: totally agree with you. And you know, when you watch
- 7:30Speaker 1: the Cowboys played on Sunday with that two back system
- 7:34Speaker 1: that they used, it really nullified the pass rushers that
- 7:37Speaker 1: the Minnesota Vikings have was the Darius Smith and DJ
- 7:40Speaker 1: Wantam and Dneil Hunter. I mean, they were invisible. And
- 7:44Speaker 1: so I thought the offensive line played very well. Jane.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Tyler Smith just keeps getting better and better. He's he's
- 7:50Speaker 1: so physical. He he has such the ability to move
- 7:53Speaker 1: people in front of him in in widen holes. And
- 7:56Speaker 1: so I think the offensive line, the two backs, the
- 7:59Speaker 1: identity has really come on now that Doc is fully healthy,
- 8:02Speaker 1: integrated the offense right now, it really looks like they're
- 8:06Speaker 1: difficult to defend. What I really liked about the Cowboys
- 8:09Speaker 1: last week, Jane, was they were up twenty to three
- 8:12Speaker 1: with thirteen seconds left and they hit that shot to
- 8:15Speaker 1: Ceedee Lamb down the sidelines, but by design for twenty
- 8:19Speaker 1: seven yards. It led to the big field goal. They
- 8:21Speaker 1: never stopped attacking, and I think that's the mentality that
- 8:24Speaker 1: the Cowboys can have, especially when the run game gets cooking.
- 8:30Speaker 1: You know, it's funny, Brian, you brought up an interesting point.
- 8:32Speaker 1: We call these the cardiac Cowboys because it does seem
- 8:35Speaker 1: like a bit of a roller coaster every week. One
- 8:37Speaker 1: of the big things that hit them at the beginning
- 8:38Speaker 1: of the year was the loss of Tyron Smith. I
- 8:41Speaker 1: would tell you that he was out at practice today's
- 8:43Speaker 1: kind of working his way back finally. And it was
- 8:45Speaker 1: Jerry Jones on one oh five three, the fan that
- 8:47Speaker 1: was asked, what do you do with Tyron when he
- 8:48Speaker 1: comes back? I am kind of curious your thought on
- 8:51Speaker 1: this Tyron Smith. He says he's going to go back
- 8:53Speaker 1: to left tackle. He feels confident that Tyler Smith can
- 8:56Speaker 1: go to left guard. D a mess with something that's
- 8:59Speaker 1: not working right now, though, given how well they've been playing, well,
- 9:03Speaker 1: it just depends on what kind of kidem mean you want.
- 9:05Speaker 1: If Tyrone is ready to go, you have to put
- 9:07Speaker 1: him in there, because nobody has meat hooks like Tyrone Smith.
- 9:11Speaker 1: When he grabs you, he never let you go and
- 9:14Speaker 1: it's just impossible to beat him out there. So if
- 9:17Speaker 1: he's at that level, I kick Tyler back in where
- 9:20Speaker 1: he started the off season. He started the preseason like
- 9:23Speaker 1: you started the season that left guard, and I think
- 9:26Speaker 1: you might have one of the more dominant left sides
- 9:28Speaker 1: in all of football. If that would take place, which
- 9:31Speaker 1: might really help some kind of a big playoff run.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I just love that. That made me laugh. And and
- 9:39Speaker 1: also I don't know the last time someone like you know,
- 9:42Speaker 1: like you know, says giving like turkey, like just grabbed
- 9:47Speaker 1: the turkey drums, you know, and and just double fisted
- 9:51Speaker 1: you know. I mean, it's at that time of the year.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Can we get a baldly breakdown of you carving a turkey? Yes,
- 9:59Speaker 1: I pay for that. I'll be carving a turkey on Thanksgiving.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Let's do let's get a breakdown. We we take ple
- 10:05Speaker 1: it of blood that gives it away. Brian, Well, I
- 10:08Speaker 1: mean things get things get caught. Andrew like, no, I
- 10:11Speaker 1: get it. I'm laughing that Jane called you, Brian. That's
- 10:15Speaker 1: all I haven't heard. I've known you for twenty years.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I've never heard anyone call you Brian. I think it's
- 10:20Speaker 1: it's it's like we're getting ready for the Thanksgiving table
- 10:24Speaker 1: an awkward conversations. Thank you, Brian. All right and Jane
- 10:29Speaker 1: NFC standings as we get ready for the Thanksgiving Day
- 10:33Speaker 1: table conversation. Have the Cowboys and the Giants at seven
- 10:36Speaker 1: and three, two games behind the Eagles and in front
- 10:40Speaker 1: of the Commanders. Maybe you can debate the Hall of
- 10:44Speaker 1: Fame at the Thanksgiving table. Because we have in our
- 10:48Speaker 1: hands the list for the twenty three class, the semifinalists. Look,
- 10:55Speaker 1: who's on it again? South that. I appreciate the wood
- 11:01Speaker 1: Wane aver calling me, But no, what you do with books, Candy,
- 11:06Speaker 1: We're gonna do that today. It's gonna be one right here.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Let's go touches all three. Yeah, let's go, man, let's go, Josh,
- 11:15Speaker 1: Let's go get a smart put a smile on her face.
- 11:17Speaker 1: You can talk about a little bit, a little safe
- 11:19Speaker 1: ding a touchdown. Man. I tossed him on that play.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I threw him on ground. I can't get up like that.
- 11:31Speaker 1: I can only get up on my front. Let's enjoy
- 11:34Speaker 1: this one. It's kind of while I love our guy,
- 11:37Speaker 1: our good friend, our colleague, Joe Thomas says, we have
- 11:41Speaker 1: the breaking news here. The list for Canton. The class
- 11:44Speaker 1: of three has five first time eligibles, and Joe is
- 11:49Speaker 1: on it. Not surprisingly, never missed the game. He's getting
- 11:53Speaker 1: in JR. Evans, Dwight Freeney, James Harrison, Durrell Reevous. The inductees.
- 11:59Speaker 1: We'll be announced tonight before the Super Bowl, actually Thursday
- 12:02Speaker 1: before the Super Bowl. We do it at honors now
- 12:04Speaker 1: for Bor eight ninth before the game in Glendale. Damn
- 12:08Speaker 1: the season, super Bowl fifty seven. Steve watch back with
- 12:11Speaker 1: us and our Whole of Fame voter Jim Trotter as well.
- 12:14Speaker 1: What do you think of these first time eligible Jim?
- 12:17Speaker 1: They're impressive, without question, Andrew. The thing that's interesting to
- 12:20Speaker 1: me is that, look, there's been a lot of talk
- 12:23Speaker 1: in recent years about first year eligible guys jumping to
- 12:26Speaker 1: the front of the line. And we know this year
- 12:27Speaker 1: we have ten returning finalists who are still part of
- 12:31Speaker 1: this group in terms of the semifinalists this year, so
- 12:34Speaker 1: it's gonna be very competitive at the end. But look,
- 12:37Speaker 1: in that group we're talking about all decade players, and
- 12:40Speaker 1: all decade players receive a lot of attention and a
- 12:42Speaker 1: lot of respect from voters. So for me, it's gonna
- 12:45Speaker 1: be really interesting. Joe Thomas one of the best left
- 12:47Speaker 1: tackles ever. Durrell Reva's one of the best cover corners ever,
- 12:51Speaker 1: even had his own nickname with Rivas Island, you know,
- 12:54Speaker 1: and then you talk about some of those other guys.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Jarry Evans was a tremendous guard, et cetera. So it's
- 12:59Speaker 1: gonna be a fun time. It's gonna be a tough
- 13:01Speaker 1: time making those selections, but a fun time. Yeah, salute
- 13:04Speaker 1: to the vote the other guys in that room, Jim,
- 13:07Speaker 1: I mean, you could take the five first time eligibles
- 13:09Speaker 1: right there, but to kind of talk about them skipping
- 13:12Speaker 1: the line, I have no idea how in the world
- 13:15Speaker 1: you can look like James Harrison and Dwight Freeney and say, okay,
- 13:19Speaker 1: well are they more? Are they better? Can they go
- 13:21Speaker 1: ahead of Jared Allen and DeMarcus went White, friendy went
- 13:24Speaker 1: to Syracuse. You should get out there. You go to
- 13:26Speaker 1: see the hold the Orangemen link up right there. But
- 13:29Speaker 1: I mean, this is this is a tough decision right here,
- 13:31Speaker 1: because you talk look at the wide receivers. You know,
- 13:33Speaker 1: you're talking about an Kwon Bolden and Steve Smith, you know,
- 13:37Speaker 1: guys like that, Reggie Wayne Tory Holt. You know, you know,
- 13:42Speaker 1: it's it's amazing, Gym. I don't know how you're gonna
- 13:44Speaker 1: do it, but I'm just looking at these pass rushers,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and again I look at James Harrison Defensive Player of
- 13:47Speaker 1: the Year and guys like that, and then DeMarcus where
- 13:50Speaker 1: the impact he had on two teams winning Super Bowls.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be three eligible spots because you
- 13:55Speaker 1: mentioned Revus and Joe Thomas. Um that's gonna be Jim,
- 13:59Speaker 1: have fun. What's fascinating is that, for instance, you're talking
- 14:03Speaker 1: about these receivers Steve Smith and A. Kwon Bolden didn't
- 14:06Speaker 1: even make the finalist last year. So that tells how
- 14:09Speaker 1: deep that receiver group is as we go forward with
- 14:12Speaker 1: this and what else stands out to you, Jim, And
- 14:15Speaker 1: again the it's twenty eight, not just those five. Those
- 14:17Speaker 1: are the first time guys with twenty eight modern era players.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Steve Smith, senior, Reggie Wayne is now the receiver coach
- 14:24Speaker 1: for the Indianapolis called Zach Thomas heinsword. It's a long list.
- 14:27Speaker 1: They're all in NFL dot Com. What do you see there, Jim, Yeah,
- 14:30Speaker 1: there are a few interesting names on there to me.
- 14:32Speaker 1: For instance, Henry Ellert, the former Rams grade AT receiver
- 14:36Speaker 1: making it to the semifinalist. I think a lot of
- 14:38Speaker 1: people have forgotten about him. Henry eller was one of
- 14:41Speaker 1: the great receivers during this series. His first five years,
- 14:44Speaker 1: he was kind of lost in a run centric offense
- 14:46Speaker 1: playing with Eric Dickerson and John Robinson out there with
- 14:49Speaker 1: the Rams. But once Eric was traded, you know, in
- 14:52Speaker 1: his final nine seasons um and not all of them
- 14:54Speaker 1: were with the Rams, obviously, but Henry Ellard had seven
- 14:57Speaker 1: one thousand yards seasons average sixty catches. At the time
- 15:01Speaker 1: of his retirement, he was fourth in the league and
- 15:04Speaker 1: received eaving yard or fourth and receptions and third in
- 15:08Speaker 1: receiving yards. And we tend to forget that now with
- 15:10Speaker 1: the way the game is opened up and or the
- 15:12Speaker 1: passing game has opened up. Then you talk about a
- 15:14Speaker 1: guy like London Flawod Fletcher, who was an iron man,
- 15:18Speaker 1: played started two hundred and fifty six games. He started
- 15:21Speaker 1: his last two hundred and fifteen games eight times in
- 15:25Speaker 1: his career. He ranked in the top ten and tackles.
- 15:27Speaker 1: And then you can go to a guy like Albert Lewis,
- 15:30Speaker 1: the cornerback from Kansas City, who there are people out
- 15:33Speaker 1: there who are making a strong push for him as
- 15:35Speaker 1: being one of the best cover corners of his era,
- 15:38Speaker 1: if not ever, and they are pushing hard for him
- 15:40Speaker 1: to get consideration in terms of being a flintalist. So
- 15:43Speaker 1: there's some mis interesting names on the on this list.
- 15:46Speaker 1: But again, as I say, it's gonna be very competitive,
- 15:49Speaker 1: knowing that there are ten returning finalists right now from
- 15:53Speaker 1: a year ago, and then you have this outstanding year
- 15:55Speaker 1: of first eligible guys. And I'll throw in my two
- 15:57Speaker 1: cents for front of the program at another former Ram
- 15:59Speaker 1: wide receiver and Tory Hold this is his ninth time
- 16:02Speaker 1: as a semifinalist. How about Randy Barber, Steve this is
- 16:06Speaker 1: his sixth time making it this fall. This is amazing
- 16:10Speaker 1: to me. And this is where again I'm not a
- 16:11Speaker 1: selector Jim is, but where the changes in the game
- 16:15Speaker 1: today might apply to a player from this era. Because
- 16:18Speaker 1: Royande Barber is considered the gold standard at the slot corner,
- 16:22Speaker 1: right the nickelback with sacks, with tackles, with interceptions, with
- 16:27Speaker 1: fumble recoveries and forced fumbles. The guy is a stat
- 16:29Speaker 1: line stuffer. In today's game, he'd be considered one of
- 16:33Speaker 1: the best defensive backs in the game because the importance
- 16:35Speaker 1: of the slot corner. But when he played on that
- 16:37Speaker 1: Great Bucks defense, a lot of people would say, oh,
- 16:39Speaker 1: he's a slot corner. He's not necessarily the overall man corner.
- 16:43Speaker 1: But again this is where Jim you would the selectors
- 16:46Speaker 1: have a hard time because his value overall to that
- 16:49Speaker 1: great defense, to me, cannot be measured enough. Yeah, I
- 16:53Speaker 1: agree with you, Steven. I can make one quick point here.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Two guys I'm really happy to see still on this
- 16:57Speaker 1: list or Rodney Harrison and Darren Woodson, two safeties in
- 17:00Speaker 1: my opinion, have deserved for some time to go into
- 17:03Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame. So to see them get to
- 17:04Speaker 1: this point, hopefully they will take that next step and
- 17:07Speaker 1: be finalists and be discussed in that room where they
- 17:10Speaker 1: deserve an opportunity to go in. Coming up, we have
- 17:14Speaker 1: a new number one in the Power Rankings. No it's
- 17:19Speaker 1: not the Lions, but they're moving up as well. Who
- 17:40Speaker 1: is this guy going up high, real high? Look at us.
- 17:58Speaker 1: It's your favorite thing on Tuesday, isn't it. Of course
- 18:02Speaker 1: it is. It's the brand new Power Rankings. There's a
- 18:06Speaker 1: new number one. Get ready for the angry calls from Philadelphia.
- 18:13Speaker 1: The Eagles dropped down too, I'm sorry, dropped down to
- 18:17Speaker 1: two from one, not to two at well, who had
- 18:20Speaker 1: a sixty two yard touchdown, but they dropped down to two,
- 18:23Speaker 1: and the man responsible for that. Send all your email
- 18:27Speaker 1: and all your tweets to at Dan hand Zeus, who
- 18:31Speaker 1: now has the Chiefs at number one. Dan, explain yourself.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I won't respond to many of them, Not even Colleen Wolf,
- 18:39Speaker 1: your co host on the course, has known Eagles apologist. No,
- 18:45Speaker 1: she'll be cool with it. You know why, because we
- 18:47Speaker 1: did the show already and she understands that the Eagles
- 18:49Speaker 1: have come down a little bit and the Chiefs. Just
- 18:52Speaker 1: that performance on Sunday night a little cheat code for
- 18:56Speaker 1: the power rankings guy. Those Island games, the primetime games,
- 18:59Speaker 1: they kind of jumped out to me a little bit more,
- 19:01Speaker 1: especially when you performed waited performance there just a tiny bet.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Maybe it shouldn't be that way, but that's the way
- 19:07Speaker 1: it is. Andrew and I loved the way Mahomes and
- 19:11Speaker 1: Kelsey just said, nah, we're not losing this game in
- 19:13Speaker 1: those last two minutes, and it just reminded me that
- 19:16Speaker 1: when it comes down to it, when you try to
- 19:17Speaker 1: figure out who's the best of the best, only one
- 19:20Speaker 1: team has Mahomes alright. So like Nick Serrianti who was
- 19:24Speaker 1: cursing a Colts fans after that game, saying this was
- 19:27Speaker 1: for Frank Reichy. He has not reached out to you
- 19:30Speaker 1: yet angry at this. I haven't heard um from Nick
- 19:34Speaker 1: Siriani yet, but if I do, he knows it's not
- 19:37Speaker 1: personal and there's still plenty of time for the Eagles
- 19:40Speaker 1: to get back where they are. I think the Eagles
- 19:42Speaker 1: are gonna be fine. I think it's only natural that
- 19:44Speaker 1: there's a little dip uh the way things were going.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Maybe this is for the best. Maybe it's better this
- 19:48Speaker 1: is happening now in the end of November as opposed
- 19:51Speaker 1: to a one and done stunner in January. But it
- 19:54Speaker 1: is interesting that they kind of slept walk through that
- 19:56Speaker 1: game against the Colts team that, let's face it, is
- 19:59Speaker 1: not very good, but they found a way, and that
- 20:01Speaker 1: is also the mark of a good team. Eagles are fine.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I'm not worried about them. I feel really good about
- 20:05Speaker 1: the top five in general and exactly where the Eagles.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I am kidding. I can't imagine that Nixt sir Annie
- 20:10Speaker 1: would reach out to you. I I kid here because
- 20:12Speaker 1: I don't care. The Cowboys, um are up five to
- 20:16Speaker 1: number three. That's how much you thought of their stand
- 20:18Speaker 1: alone four PM window win. That's interesting. Do they get
- 20:22Speaker 1: a four PM, is there the week bump game of
- 20:25Speaker 1: the week bump. I'm gonna say no, not not as much.
- 20:28Speaker 1: But it was very impressive. How could it? How could
- 20:30Speaker 1: you not be super impressed? And I've been in on
- 20:33Speaker 1: the Cowboys for the most of the most of the season,
- 20:35Speaker 1: if you're following the power rankings, they've been a top
- 20:37Speaker 1: ten team. This was the game where they really step
- 20:40Speaker 1: up and it's like, Wow, this is them at their
- 20:43Speaker 1: top four. I think Tony Pollard and there's no more
- 20:46Speaker 1: handwringing about Zeke Elliott. He's the most important guy in
- 20:49Speaker 1: that backfield. And seeing Dak play well in the defense
- 20:52Speaker 1: get after it, and Michael Parson set the tone the
- 20:54Speaker 1: way he did at the beginning of this game. They're
- 20:56Speaker 1: gonna be a tough out this year. I know we
- 20:57Speaker 1: always say that the time of year and then something
- 20:59Speaker 1: bad happens in January, but this just feels a little
- 21:01Speaker 1: bit different. There's there's real balance, and maybe O'Dell's on
- 21:04Speaker 1: the team in a couple weeks. Who know, No, I
- 21:05Speaker 1: think he will be actually, and I think this game
- 21:07Speaker 1: could be for Odell. Not that I think he's just
- 21:09Speaker 1: gonna go sign with the Giants. If somehow the Giants
- 21:11Speaker 1: pulled a stunner, but hey, you never know the Vikings
- 21:14Speaker 1: the other side of that game. Obviously, Sunday in Minnesota
- 21:17Speaker 1: are down six to number nine. But let's play a hypothetical.
- 21:22Speaker 1: What if they rebound with the resounded win over the Patriots.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Are you buying again? I'm not out. I mean, I
- 21:29Speaker 1: didn't sell on the Vikings. There's still top ten team.
- 21:31Speaker 1: This is kind of where it had them all year,
- 21:34Speaker 1: So I'm a little bit annoyed. After they beat the Bills.
- 21:36Speaker 1: You gotta hand out some flowers for you're annoyed you
- 21:38Speaker 1: had him in the top five. I am just because
- 21:41Speaker 1: I knew kind of in my heart watching every one
- 21:42Speaker 1: of their games that they do feel more like an
- 21:44Speaker 1: eight to twelve type team, despite what the record says.
- 21:47Speaker 1: And then they go and they lay that egg. They
- 21:49Speaker 1: could absolutely bounce back. There's a lot of talent on
- 21:51Speaker 1: this team. But I think it was a wake up,
- 21:53Speaker 1: wake up call that there is the chance of the
- 21:56Speaker 1: regression monster showing up here and taking this team down
- 21:59Speaker 1: to earth a little bit. Um. Would it surprised me
- 22:01Speaker 1: if they win on Thursday? No, would it stunned me
- 22:04Speaker 1: if they use three of the next four. No, it wouldn't.
- 22:07Speaker 1: They're not dominant. We're still trying to figure them out.
- 22:09Speaker 1: We're still trying to forget a lot of these teams here,
- 22:11Speaker 1: which is why I find it interesting, and I'm double
- 22:14Speaker 1: checking the standings here that we have the Buccaneers at
- 22:17Speaker 1: five and five at eleven, ahead of teams that have
- 22:21Speaker 1: winning records like the Seahawks who until last night we're
- 22:25Speaker 1: leading the West at six and four, or the Patriots
- 22:28Speaker 1: or your Jets, who I think, deep out inside you
- 22:30Speaker 1: want to see Mike White start on Sunday. How are
- 22:32Speaker 1: the Buccaneers ahead of all those? Are we? How are
- 22:34Speaker 1: we still having this conversation and Andrew? It is the
- 22:37Speaker 1: power rankings, not the power to understand that. But you
- 22:40Speaker 1: have them as a better team than those other team.
- 22:43Speaker 1: If you put yes the Bucks where I see them,
- 22:46Speaker 1: it's all very close. Let's that whole grouping from eleven
- 22:49Speaker 1: to fifteen. Like you, I can't quibble if you want
- 22:52Speaker 1: to mix any of those teams up. But I just
- 22:55Speaker 1: thought what we saw from the Bucks before the bye
- 22:57Speaker 1: in Berlin was important. They moved the ball, that they
- 22:59Speaker 1: were able to convert on ten of thirteen third down
- 23:02Speaker 1: conversions and non kneel down situations that the defense came
- 23:06Speaker 1: to life, and finally we're getting the ball, taking the
- 23:08Speaker 1: ball away from the opponent. I just think the Bucks
- 23:11Speaker 1: are a team that's going to continue to get better.
- 23:13Speaker 1: So that's a little show of faith in them. And
- 23:15Speaker 1: it's understandable why they're ahead of the Seahawks because they
- 23:18Speaker 1: beat the Seahawks obviously in Germany. Both those teams were
- 23:21Speaker 1: division leaders. It's not so crazy kicked off. I understand that.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I guess it speaks to the overall middle of the
- 23:27Speaker 1: pack malaise if you will. The Lions, however, no malaise.
- 23:31Speaker 1: They have a chance to make it four on Thursday.
- 23:34Speaker 1: You have them at eighteen. I love it. Isn't it perfect?
- 23:37Speaker 1: Isn't it perfect? How this has worked out? Andrew that
- 23:39Speaker 1: the Bills kind of came down to earth a little
- 23:41Speaker 1: bit in the last three weeks, the Lions come up
- 23:43Speaker 1: and now we all get to enjoy a great Thanksgiving game.
- 23:46Speaker 1: And yeah, it's the defense. The offense has been pretty
- 23:49Speaker 1: consistent all season. It's the defense that has stepped up
- 23:52Speaker 1: and during this wind streak, and it's gonna be fun
- 23:54Speaker 1: to see them with that crowd going nuts. Really turned
- 23:57Speaker 1: this season on its ear and shocked the Bills, the
- 24:01Speaker 1: Bills and the Lions. Interesting, he just went there. He
- 24:05Speaker 1: just went there. Okay, Dan Hanson's Power Rankings NFL dot
