Lattie F. Coor, the transformative former president of Arizona State University who passed away at 89, reshaped ASU from a football-focused school into a powerhouse research institution. Under his 12-year leadership, research funding jumped 150%, the endowment soared to $250 million, and the Polytechnic campus was added. He quadrupled honors college enrollment and oversaw a $500 million capital campaign.
