- 0:00Not everyone can achieve spiritual progress using exactly
- 0:05the same methods or disciplines the one-size-fits-all approach
- 0:09Tried by Many religious or spiritual communities of the
- 0:14past only works. If their members are all
- 0:18basically similar in temperament and their Spiritual Development,
- 0:22we have, of course heard the stories of individuals who enter
- 0:27a monastery and who seemed to be always Always getting in trouble
- 0:32because they cannot maintain silence all the time or are not
- 0:36serious enough in their demeanor for the rest of the community.
- 0:41We've heard also, the stories of young energetic individuals
- 0:45being forced to Tamp down their vital enthusiasm artificial to
- 0:50fit in. SRI aurobindo makes an effort to
- 0:54ensure that individual sadhaks not be artificially judgmental
- 0:58about the spiritual practice or discipline followed by another
- 1:02individual, which differs from that of someone else.
- 1:07There was an individual residing, a tree or window
- 1:10ashram during most of 1973 an early 1974 who for a period of
- 1:17time, followed an inner discipline of managing speech.
- 1:22His method was to speak, not socially, but to write on a pad
- 1:28in response to questions, however, he agreed to speak,
- 1:32when it came to the work. He was assigned.
- 1:35So, as to ensure good communication, he did not
- 1:39participate. In the normal discussions, were
- 1:41banter at the dining hall or even in the samadhi, courtyard.
- 1:47But he did not appear. To be hostile to anyone and did
- 1:52not take exception to anyone who wanted to speak or socialize in
- 1:56any way he was considered to be somewhat different but no one
- 2:02interfered with the direction of his sadhna.
- 2:04During that period. SRI aurobindo, observes quote.
- 2:10I think no rule can be laid down applicable to all.
- 2:14There are some who have the expansive tendency of the vital
- 2:18others who have the concentrative.
- 2:21The latter are absorbed in their own intensity of endeavor and
- 2:25certainly they gather from that, a great force for progress and
- 2:29are saved the expense and loss of energy, which frequently
- 2:33comes to the more communicative and also make themselves Less
- 2:38open to reactions from others. Though, this cannot be
- 2:41altogether avoided, the others need to communicate.
- 2:45What is in them? And cannot wait for the fullness
- 2:48before they use what they have. Even they may need to give out
- 2:53as well as to take in in order to progress.
- 2:57The only thing is that they must balance the two Tendencies
- 3:01concentrating to receive from above as much or more than they
- 3:05open side ways to distribute. That mixing with people laughing
- 3:11and joking etcetera, is it kind of vital expensiveness?
- 3:16It is not vital strength. This expansiveness is also
- 3:20expensive for when there is this mixing the vitally strong, get
- 3:25strength from it, but the vitally week expand what
- 3:29strength, they have, and become weaker and quote, reference, SRI
