- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
- 0:06where he left off with the Bill Gates transcript with
- 0:10Congress question by mister Spector. Now question, thank you, mister Gates.
- 0:16You already testified in the last hour you gave no
- 0:18financial payments. You had no financial arrangement or payments with
- 0:23Jeffrey Epstein. Is that right answer? That is right question.
- 0:27Just want to clarify a little bit using a document,
- 0:29so I'll enter as majority Exhibit five A contract from
- 0:33the Epstein owned entity, Southern Trust Company, Incorporated, dated May
- 0:37twenty eighth, twenty thirteen. This is from the DJ's release.
- 0:41It's mark with Bates number e FTA zero one one
- 0:45one one nine to six y one. I'll give you
- 0:48a moment to look at it. It seems to be
- 0:50a contract of some kind for consulting services. Answer between
- 0:54who and who question. If you direct your attention to
- 0:58the second block of texts, the second or third line
- 1:01up from the bottom, It says Bill Gates and affiliated trusts, partnerships,
- 1:05limited partnerships, and limited liability companies of and any other
- 1:10entities affiliated with mister Gates. And then it says collectively
- 1:14clients because the list of collection of clients. Do you
- 1:18have any knowledge about whether you were a client of
- 1:20any of those Southern Trust Company? Answer? I was not.
- 1:23Question have you ever heard of the Southern Trust Company? Answer?
- 1:27I believe this document was shown to me as part
- 1:29of the Epstein files as one of the documents that
- 1:32my name came up in a dishonest and misleading way. Question,
- 1:37So that's your characterization, is that this is a dishonest
- 1:40and misleading you know, mentioned of you as a client. Answer.
- 1:44That might be a little strong because it doesn't actually
- 1:47say I was a client, but it suggests that I
- 1:49might be one of the clients. And I was never
- 1:52a client in any way of mister Epstein or any
- 1:54of his entities, including this thing that I don't know
- 1:57much about called Southern Trust Company. Question. Thank you, mister Moran,
- 2:02asking questions again? Sorry, just for my record. That was
- 2:06Mark five, mister Grant. Answer is yes, sir, now Emmer's
- 2:10back and prior to reviewing this document, had you ever
- 2:13come to learn during the course of knowing mister Epstein
- 2:16that he was representing himself to you as a client. Gates,
- 2:19I didn't know that he would represent that and it
- 2:22would have been a falsehood. Emmer, thank you, mister Grant.
- 2:26Asking questions again, mister Gates, it seems, through the course
- 2:30of reviewing the documents and as part of this interview
- 2:32with you here today, that there were more than a
- 2:35few people either associated with yourself and some of your
- 2:39ventures or Microsoft generally, that had a relationship with mister
- 2:42Epstein at the time. Were you aware of all these
- 2:46associates of yours having relationships with some kind with mister Epstein. Answer, well,
- 2:51I'll mention the three and then you can tell me
- 2:53if there's more than that. I thought mister Nickolitch had
- 2:56a very limited relationship with mister Epstein in terms of
- 2:59facility heading meetings that I had with him. You know,
- 3:02the email show a more extensive relationship. I thought that
- 3:05doctor Walker knew Epstein. He mentioned her to me one
- 3:08time in our first dinner meeting, and then she sent
- 3:11me an email asking about the meeting. Subsequently, I don't
- 3:15think we communicated about Epstein, although apparently there's some possibility
- 3:19of an August twenty fourteen email and that maybe that's
- 3:22an exception. I'll have to track that down. So the
- 3:25extent of her relationship with mister Epstein, I don't know.
- 3:29I think another name that came up with Steven Sinofsky,
- 3:32and I did not know of him having any relationship
- 3:34with mister Epstein. Question and what about mister Mirvold? I
- 3:39know he was brought up at some point an earlier
- 3:41hour here today. Question No, I never discussed mister Epstein
- 3:45with mister Miervold. Question and you had no awareness of
- 3:49them having any type of relationship at all at the time? Answer?
- 3:53I know when Epstein files came out, there was some
- 3:55things related to mister Mehervold having some relationship with mister Epstein.
- 4:00Well before that, I had a vague awareness of some
- 4:03of the connection and I don't know where that came from,
- 4:05but we never discussed it. Question and what about mister
- 4:09Reid Hoffman were you aware of him having a relationship
- 4:11with mister Epstein. Answer? I did know that through some
- 4:16MIT connection, but I'm not sure that mister Hoffman had
- 4:19met mister Epstein. But I was never other than Actually,
- 4:23there is a December breakfast, the final meeting with Epstein,
- 4:26where I'm presenting a group of people about philanthropy and
- 4:29global health mister Hoffman attended that and so did mister Epstein.
- 4:33So that's one case where mister Hoffman and mister Epstein
- 4:36and I were all together in the same place. Question
- 4:39and did you ever discuss mister Epstein with mister Hoffman
- 4:42other than this one meeting you just mentioned. Answer? It
- 4:45might have come up. You know that I talked to
- 4:47mister Hoffman about a lot of things, but the fact
- 4:50that he was kind of an unknown but a person
- 4:53with a bad reputation that may have come up in
- 4:55my conversation with mister Hoffman. Question and mister I'll call
- 5:01it a relationship with mister Epstein. Is that due to
- 5:03his own accord or is that because of his close
- 5:05proximity to you? Answer? I wouldn't call it a relationship.
- 5:09I mean, on my behalf of you was involved, particularly
- 5:12in the doctor Nikolic exit discussions, but I wouldn't call
- 5:15that a relationship. Question fair enough, And did mister Epstein
- 5:20ever ask you to hire someone to either Microsoft or
- 5:22any of your other ventures? Answer never. Question are you
- 5:27aware of anyone at Microsoft or any of your other
- 5:30ventures giving any type of inside investment information? Answer no.
- 5:34Question did mister Epstein ever ask you for any type
- 5:37of inside investment information to your companies or adventures. Answer
- 5:41no question. Did you ever discuss any stocks or trades
- 5:45or anything related to financial markets with mister Epstein? Answer no, Well,
- 5:51let me amend that. I mean the general idea of
- 5:54where markets going up or going down that came up
- 5:56in some discussions, but not any specific company that was
- 6:00going to happen with its stock questions, So mister Epstein
- 6:03wouldn't have a conversation with you then about a particular company,
- 6:07say Tesla, and say you should short this stock or
- 6:09buy this stock? Answer no, spector just one quick question
- 6:13for the last couple of sections here, did any law
- 6:16enforcement entity of any kind ever approach you or ask
- 6:19for information about Epstein or Glenn Maxwell? Answer yeah, I
- 6:22think my lawyers can probably do a better job on
- 6:24this than I can. But I think the US Virgin
- 6:27Islands conducted a voluntary interview with me, Miss Claire. Yeah,
- 6:30if I could just clarify, the Attorney General of the
- 6:33US Virgin Islands made an informal request to mister Gates
- 6:36to cooperate with its investigation, very much like he did here.
- 6:40Mister Gates cooperated voluntarily. We turned over some documents to
- 6:45the Attorney General, and mister Gates sat for a voluntary
- 6:48proffer with the representatives of the US Virgin Islands. Spector
- 6:52what sort of documents to the Virgin Islands, request Claire,
- 6:56they from recollection. They related mostly to financial documents. It
- 7:00was in connection with, you know, tax questions primarily, and
- 7:03they're related to JP Morgan Chase and some banking issues.
- 7:07So it was primarily focused on that, mister Grant. And
- 7:11just so the record's clear, no one from the Southern
- 7:14District of New York ever reached out to you during
- 7:16Epstein's troubles when he was arrested subsequently in twenty nineteen.
- 7:21Answer no question, And the same question for miss Maxwell
- 7:25during her arrest of twenty twenty one. Answer no question,
- 7:28Thank you, Specter asking questions again, mister Gates. We do
- 7:33sort of a format in some of our interviews. I'm
- 7:36going to read you a long list of names. The
- 7:38question is the same for each person. Answer okay, question,
- 7:42It's simply have you ever communicated with that person regarding
- 7:45Jeffrey Epstein or Glenn Maxwell? And there may be some repetition.
- 7:49I'll try to cut out the ones that we've already
- 7:51talked about for the most part, so for the first one.
- 7:53Richard Kahn answer no, never communicated with him. Question. Darren
- 7:59Endyke answered no question. Leslie Groff answer, I don't believe so.
- 8:03I mean she might have been on some of the
- 8:05email chain, but I don't think I communicated with her.
- 8:08Question Sarah Kellen answer again, she might have been on
- 8:11the chain, but I never communicated with her. Or I
- 8:14don't know. Maybe she's one of the women I wasn't
- 8:16introduced to in the photos. I'm not sure. Question. When
- 8:19you say that miss Groff and miss Kellen may have
- 8:21been on the email chain, do you mean an email
- 8:23chain along with mister Epstein. Answer yes. Question next person
- 8:27Doug Band answer no question. Larry Summers answer yes, as
- 8:32I've discussed doctor Summers came to a dinner, which is
- 8:34the second time I met Epstein and other than that,
- 8:37no question. Have you ever discussed Jeffrey Epstein's crimes allegations
- 8:43against Jeffrey Epstein with Larry Summers answer no question. Noam
- 8:47Chomsky answer no, I never met Noam Chomsky. I know
- 8:50has worked very well. I think he's fairly old now,
- 8:53but I never met him or talk to him. Question redacted.
- 8:56I don't recognize that name, so no question. Alan Dershowitz
- 9:00answer no question. George Mitchell answer no question. Andrew Mountbatten
- 9:06Winsor formerly Prince Andrew. Answer yeah, I never nothing connected
- 9:10to Epstein. I encountered him two times and official visits
- 9:13in the UK where he was serving as something like
- 9:16the trade representative. Question but never about Epstein? Answer never
- 9:20about Epstein? Question okay. Answer Weirdly, in the set of
- 9:24photos that I guess Epstein kept, there's a photo of
- 9:26me and Prince Andrew at one of those official state meetings,
- 9:30but nothing in connection with Epstein, even though Epstein seemed
- 9:33to have that picture and it shows up in the
- 9:35Epstein files. Question that's right. Do you recall if Jeffrey
- 9:39Epstein was also in attendance at that state dinner? Answer never,
- 9:43question he definitely wasn't in attendance there. Answer no, I
- 9:46never saw him in the UK and those were both
- 9:49meetings in the UK. Question thank you, Peter Mandelsson answer
- 9:53no question. Corinia Shuliac answer I don't know. Is that
- 9:58one of his assistants. Question she's reported to have dated
- 10:01mister Epstein. Just if you recall having a conversation with
- 10:04these people about Jeffrey Epstein or Ghlaine Maxwell answer. The
- 10:09only time I recall a meeting was earlier today. Someone
- 10:12sitting on that side of the table said that a
- 10:14person that I couldn't identify in a photo had that name. Question,
- 10:17but you don't recall any specifics of any conversation with
- 10:20her if you had one? Answer no, apparently though I
- 10:23was photographed with her. I think somebody represented that here today.
- 10:27Question thank you. Edwud Brock answer no question. Paul Morris
- 10:32answer yeah, I don't recognize that name. Question. Sultan Ahmed
- 10:35Binsuliam answer no question. Leslie Wexner answer no question. Harvey
- 10:41Weinstein answer no question. Any member of the Rothschild family
- 10:46answer no. It's a lot of people, but still no question.
- 10:49There are several names I can read if you would
- 10:51like answer no, no, please question. Casey Wasserman answer no question.
- 10:56Stacy Plaskett answer, I don't know who that is. Question.
- 10:59Howard Lutnik answer no, Steve Bannon answer no. Elon Musk
- 11:03answer no. Abigail Johnson answer no, Jeff Bezos answer no,
- 11:08Larry Page answer nope. Sergey Brinn answer no question. President
- 11:13Bill Clinton answer no, Secretary Hillary Clinton, no question. I
- 11:18don't think I said other than the one meeting where
- 11:20Ted Waite was Glenn Maxwell, have you ever discussed Jeffrey
- 11:24Epstein or Glenn Maxwell with Ted Waite? Answer no, mister Gates,
- 11:28just a couple of final questions for you, so your relationship.
- 11:32Can you remind us for the record when your relationship
- 11:34with mister Epstein, formally, when you cut off ties with
- 11:37mister Epstein other than his couple of reachouts. Answer after
- 11:42the December meeting in twenty fourteen. Question, and during the
- 11:46last hour you discussed a little bit about the final
- 11:49few meetings or discussions with regard to the donor advised
- 11:52funds with mister Epstein that was in twenty fourteen. Is
- 11:56that right answer? That's right question? And I'm just trying
- 11:59to understand after the summer of twenty thirteen and all
- 12:03of the various emails we discussed again acknowledging some of
- 12:07them you didn't know about at the time. But regardless
- 12:09the interactions you had with mister Epstein where he was
- 12:12making veiled threats about personal issues, including your affairs, why
- 12:16did you continue to engage with mister Epstein about philanthropy
- 12:20going into twenty fourteen. Answer, well, you know, the Doctor
- 12:24Nikolch exit, you know, ended up exactly as it started,
- 12:26with something that I felt was fair, and Doctor Nikolich
- 12:29ended up deciding was fair. And so that was kind
- 12:32of a weird thing, and I admit it should have
- 12:34added to the many negative things about mister Epstein. And
- 12:38then in the fall, I have the dinner where my
- 12:40ex took her already somewhat negative view with mister Epstein
- 12:44and felt that she had met him in person that
- 12:45one time she had an even more negative view of him.
- 12:49You know, there was a lot of things saying that,
- 12:50you know, the risk of even in this very limited role,
- 12:54which was referring me to people not being paid, not
- 12:57playing any role, that I should have had better judge
- 13:00to cut it off. And I would say that I
- 13:02was a bit stubborn in thinking, hey, was this completely
- 13:05a dead end? And so I continued through twenty fourteen
- 13:08to try to get meetings with actual donors, and then
- 13:11in September I got that then there's one more breakfast
- 13:15where I presented philanthropic opportunities, and only then did I
- 13:19completely abandon any connection with him. Question and did you
- 13:23formally tell him at this point that you didn't wish
- 13:25to see or speak to him anymore? Answer? I think
- 13:28my final email to him says, hey, the raising money
- 13:31isn't going to work. And so, because that was clearly
- 13:33the thing I had focused time on, that was clearly
- 13:36the end of the relationship. He continued to email me,
- 13:39and so through Larry Cohen, not in an email, because
- 13:42I sent the final one email and that was it,
- 13:44But mister Cohen made it clear to mister Apstein that
- 13:47I had severed the relationship completely and that I wouldn't
- 13:50be seeing me or hearing from me. Question and one
- 13:54final question for you. When we were discussing earlier about
- 13:57the two initial extramarital affairs and then we talked about
- 14:00a third one, one of the reasons you gave for
- 14:03those being the only ones that are relevant to the
- 14:05committee's inquiry was being because mister Epstein had anything else
- 14:09bad to say about you, any other damaging information about you,
- 14:13than he would have written it elsewhere in the emails.
- 14:16Is that a fair characterization of what you said? Answer? Yeah,
- 14:19he managed to put it in some true embarrassing things,
- 14:22specifically the affairs, and then he managed to put in
- 14:25a lot of false things, and so I think if
- 14:27he had known anything negative about me, it would have
- 14:30shown up in those But that's all speculation based on
- 14:33what I've seen in January of this year. You know,
- 14:35the foolishness of my spending time with him is about
- 14:38one hundred times higher after I seen the January emails. Question. Okay,
- 14:42thank you, Chairman Comer, mister Gates on behalf of the
- 14:45Oversight Committee and the entire Congress, I want to thank
- 14:49you for coming in today voluntarily, thank you for answering
- 14:52our questions. And I have to conclude by thanking you
- 14:55for your philanthropy and all the great charitable work that
- 14:58you've done and will hopefully continue to do. So. Thank you, Gates.
- 15:03Know that will be the focus of the rest of
- 15:04my life. And I don't know if anything I did
- 15:06today is helpful in your request, but I hope you
- 15:09can find justice for the victims. Chairman Comer, thank you, Specter,
- 15:14thank you, sir. We can go off the record, all right, folks.
- 15:18There it is the transcript from Bill Gates and his
- 15:22interview with Congress. The next one we're going to move
- 15:25into is Leslie Groff. All the information that goes with
- 15:30this episode can be found in the description box.
