- 0:56Now, here are the host of The United, We scan podcast.
- 1:03Welcome back to our midweek session, we had to get
- 1:07resolutions done and out of the way as their annual meetings are
- 1:10coming up. So we came in on a Wednesday
- 1:13night to get these done. We've got our usual selves here
- 1:19today, myself and Bill and Mike and Josh and James So we're
- 1:28going to start right off the bat with what is a resolution.
- 1:34For the purpose of inner LCA members a resolution is defined
- 1:40as a members, right to participate in the organization
- 1:44and have their individuals voices.
- 1:45Heard taking one, individual idea of a formal look formal
- 1:50expression of an opinion will or intent and having it voted on by
- 1:53an official body or assembled group that is basically what a
- 1:59resolution is. And who can submit a resolution
- 2:04being a member of the organization provides one of the
- 2:07most fundamental rights of a member, the right to voice their
- 2:10opinions in the Affairs of the organization by doing so.
- 2:15The member must realize the responsibility for the process
- 2:19and use it with the Integrity, with which it has been designed.
- 2:24When should a resolution be submitted after member has fully
- 2:29researched any applicable issues related to the opinion or idea
- 2:33that they have? And it depends on what kind of
- 2:35issue the resolution is intended to address.
- 2:40Where is the resolution? First submitted, a members ideas
- 2:44should be first presented at the lowest level of the organization
- 2:47local unit or state level references.
- 2:51How a bill becomes a law Why should a resolution be
- 2:56presented? This is the voice used in
- 2:58shaping the organization and its goals is a whole to bring light
- 3:02to an issue that will have a positive impact on the
- 3:04organization and then the important one.
- 3:07How do I submit a resolution? The appointed resolution
- 3:11committee. The process identified in each
- 3:13state, each state does have its own process and how resolutions
- 3:16are submitted whereas and be resolved, the two key, two kinds
- 3:22of resolutions are binding and A non-binding, the identified as
- 3:26the board has the sole authority to implement does not have to
- 3:30negotiate with another party in the issue will not harm.
- 3:32The organization is a whole, a non-binding defined as an idea
- 3:37that must be negotiated with another party.
- 3:39And therefore cannot guarantee the implementation the areas of
- 3:43which are resolution can reach our administrative.
- 3:46Contractual legislative process reminders, quality versus
- 3:51quantity and Tech clarified. Not in complaint process and not
- 3:56to be confused with the Constitution change process.
- 4:00What happens to a passed resolution at the local.
- 4:02Level it passed. It goes to the next level.
- 4:07And in state, if it's past goes to the next level, National the
- 4:11border of use, all the resolution issues prior to the
- 4:14next, negotiations and assesses, the possibility of its real
- 4:17outcome. The Only Exception is, if the
- 4:20resolution of an issue was intended to be implemented at
- 4:23the level at which it was passed.
- 4:26All right, resolutions. Number one, normally start your
- 4:31local level. I do know some states don't have
- 4:35district meetings or locals. Some of the smaller States.
- 4:38Therefore submitted at the state level.
- 4:41I do believe New Hampshire. I heard was one of those.
- 4:48And ideally, they're committed to an excuse me submitted and
- 4:52it's your annual local meetings voted upon their.
- 4:57What if approved, they didn't move up to your State Convention
- 5:02to be voted on by the delegation at State Convention. is it is a
- 5:06national resolution and it is past it then gets put in to go
- 5:13and be presented at the National Convention for voting and by
- 5:17that delegation You can do state resolutions as well.
- 5:23Normally a lot of those are constitutional for your state
- 5:26constitution. And they would stop obviously at
- 5:30the state level. If it is a state resolution
- 5:32easiest way to remind it is a binding would be a
- 5:35constitutional resolution is in that something that the party
- 5:41can implement the sole Authority and doesn't have to negotiate
- 5:45with USPS 9 bindings would be contractual as they would have
- 5:50to be negotiated with the USPS. James, you have more input.
- 6:00Yeah, you want to make sure that what you are working on is one
- 6:07or the other because when you submit it, then you're going to
- 6:13want. You're going to be evaluated on
- 6:17it first to see if it's a good resolution to put forth.
- 6:22If there's an accuracy that it like you put binding on
- 6:24something that's not a constitution then they'll fill
- 6:29you up. Throw it out in the committee
- 6:32that reviews your resolutions. The biggest thing about it is is
- 6:37you if you want something to change you want to look into
- 6:43what it is, you want to change first.
- 6:45See if there's wording in there that actually makes the change
- 6:48already available or not. Resolutions at a whole you have
- 6:52to remember, have to affect the craft in the hole.
- 6:55If it's something that pertains to your office, it's not going
- 6:58to be a resolution. If it's something, that's
- 7:02probably not going to get enough traction to go past your local
- 7:06or state. Exactly.
- 7:08You got to remember the craft, as a whole when looking at
- 7:11specially non-binding resolutions, I think if I have
- 7:17examples of, Nine by well, non-binding or pretty much
- 7:24anything that you want to see negotiated with and contracts
- 7:28binding, resolution constitutional wise, that could
- 7:32be anything from 0. We had exact got an example, go
- 7:39ahead. I got an example.
- 7:41So a binding resolution would be you want to have the secretary
- 7:50go? Part-time to full-time, like
- 7:52Michigan dibs. And a non-binding would be, you
- 7:59want to have a pizza party, every one Thursday, every month.
- 8:04For every every carrier, every office in the United States.
- 8:09Don't know how well, that one would go.
- 8:10But, yeah, well like, they like pizza parties better than
- 8:15raises. Yeah.
- 8:18Another one would be, for example, Oh James had that
- 8:26through, he was known for that. Three-page resolution.
- 8:28That made it all the way to Nationals last year from the
- 8:31state level. That everybody just didn't
- 8:33bother looking at because it was three pages long, but it was
- 8:37actually a management accountability program and
- 8:40unfortunately gained absolutely no traction whatsoever.
- 8:44It national the only reason why they didn't want to read it is
- 8:47because I've put in all the stipulations of how everything
- 8:50was to work in that instead of just putting a resolution that
- 8:54we need to Track management through the grievance process.
- 8:59Every grievance gets a point value to it and tracks
- 9:04management and that's what the whole resolution was about, but
- 9:08I wrote it Thinking I could create an entire resolution that
- 9:13fills a single roll. And unfortunately, when you're
- 9:18at a national level and you have thousands of resolutions pouring
- 9:21through the resolution committee, it's kind of hard to
- 9:25have them, go over, something like that and and pass it on
- 9:30with proper review I should say before everybody like the vote
- 9:36on it. Where you can have a binding
- 9:41resolution like mine, where we give the national sewer system
- 9:45back to this, to the states and that gets shot down at the state
- 9:49level real quick. Nobody wants to deal with you
- 9:55Bill, but it cannot, you know, really.
- 9:59I mean, the national sewer systems is its own political
- 10:02force inside our Union. I mean, you know you've got
- 10:06people out there twenty plus years.
- 10:08I haven't carried around, you've got people that are adrs because
- 10:12you know, they support the Pete, the dr's above them.
- 10:16Yeah, it's not about that. It's valid and what kind of job
- 10:19you do. We have we have an ADR in our
- 10:23area, she's full-time, and she gives the best training sessions
- 10:26in the world, but the Dr above her is.
- 10:29So entrenched up Nationals ass that you need a backhoe to pull
- 10:33him out. The politics have to go.
- 10:36Thank hurry. We all agree on that politics
- 10:41that has no place within our union.
- 10:44We need to work for each other. Not against each other.
- 10:49One craft one people, one voice? Yeah.
- 10:52Some of the common subjects covered by a constitution or
- 10:56which would be a binding. Resolution will be membership
- 10:58and dues State associations National officers Steward system
- 11:03in appeals. I'm your resolution form, it
- 11:09comes up with, you have to check the appropriate box, whether
- 11:12it's binding or non-binding. and then you have issues the issues
- 11:20that they have outer automation, benefits, EMA, grievance
- 11:25procedures, leave Replacements, male, count, relief day,
- 11:30retirement, salary time, standards vehicle work rules
- 11:35other hand Constitution, obviously, You're only gonna put
- 11:44one resolution on a rate per sheet.
- 11:50New language is supposed to be bold omitted language should be
- 11:53strikethrough. So you're looking at a well
- 11:56either both non-binding or binding, if you're looking to
- 11:59change the wording, you're going to strike through the original
- 12:02language. And then indicate if the
- 12:05resolution is attended to be binding and unbinding, indicate
- 12:09the issue of the resolution concerns, and then identify any
- 12:13handbooks manuals, or written documents to be amended and then
- 12:17you put in the name of the document.
- 12:19The article, the section in the paragraph explanatory paragraph
- 12:23should be headed as follows. If the space below is inadequate
- 12:27or use additional sheets, this is coming right off of the
- 12:29resolution form. So proper submission of
- 12:32resolutions, we definitely like say, if you're looking to change
- 12:37language, you're going to have the original language that then
- 12:39you're going to strike through it.
- 12:40This is where being typed out really helps rather than
- 12:44handwritten. Finding resolutions again, the
- 12:51resolutions of the type that are 100% within the power of the
- 12:54national board to enact. Non-binding resolutions are
- 12:58typically advisory in nature. We kind of somewhat kind of dub
- 13:03them as the wish list for contraction contract talks.
- 13:09Yes. And then or it is the save them
- 13:12for consideration during the next contractual discussions
- 13:16with the post office. How many of those actually get
- 13:19talked about? We don't know, because they died
- 13:21transparent and what they're negotiating.
- 13:24Not as many as David edit through Outlet, step 4.
- 13:31Anyway, resolution that was not passed at a State Convention,
- 13:35may only be entertained by the delegates.
- 13:37By suspending, the rules under new business.
- 13:40Ice I submitted one my state Four.
- 13:48Allowing all carriers table 1 or table 2 to get the full call.
- 13:53Wha Which is a listed in article mine and so in, they section you
- 14:04have the current language. I typed out the paragraphs that
- 14:09had to do with Cola And I'm just going to read the top sentence
- 14:16or so, this is the basic salary schedules provided for in table,
- 14:201, and step 15 table. 2 of this agreement shall be increased by
- 14:25and that's outside. and what I did is, Under the section for
- 14:32the change. I struck out the language of
- 14:37table 1 and step 15 of table, too.
- 14:42And then struck the language of steps 1 through 14. for the
- 14:51basic salary change provided for table, two of the agreement,
- 14:57completely removing that part allowing for all carriers table
- 15:02one or two to get the full Cola increase.
- 15:09And the problem with that is, you know, people at step one
- 15:12table one will be against that. Matt.
- 15:16And I don't understand that, I don't understand that either
- 15:20because it doesn't affect them, the disparity of pay that they.
- 15:25It's the infighting that we've talked about between rural
- 15:28carriers in the craft. Oh yeah.
- 15:30Just like just like our last conversation of how carriers
- 15:34that got an increase are fighting with carriers.
- 15:37That got a decrease. Yeah, and this is the same
- 15:41thing. You have carriers that are
- 15:45priest over carriers, that are decreased and what we need to do
- 15:49and it's the same thing as the conversations of people about
- 15:54raising. The minimum wage people are
- 15:57upset about raising the minimum wage, when they make way more
- 16:01than minimum wage. But instead of being proud for
- 16:05people, fighting for a higher wage there, more path to push
- 16:10down the people pushing for a higher wage instead of lifting
- 16:13them up. So that's that's why it's
- 16:17because it's this, it's about me mentality.
- 16:20And we're here unbiased. Unfiltered we're here for
- 16:24everybody doesn't matter if you wait up.
- 16:29No matter if you went down, we're here and table 1 and table
- 16:34to carriers on this panel. And meanwhile I'm your table for
- 16:39RCA cable 3. For, but yeah, for oh yeah,
- 16:50Table Three is PCS, right? So it's the RCA's that were
- 16:54hired in Prior. So, oh, the ones that are
- 16:59supposed to go to table 1, when they convert.
- 17:02Yes, yes. Yeah, but not all of them.
- 17:06I have heard some day got hired in than that, little that small
- 17:10little area. There between those dates that a
- 17:14lonely word table. 03 and then went full-time on table to yeah.
- 17:19Anyone hire between, I want to say November of 2010, and August
- 17:27of 2012 will go where I go round table to anyone.
- 17:33Hire prior to that 2010 date will be table one.
- 17:40You know, and then I also went back and found page starts
- 17:46dating back from March of 2013. And I use the table one step, a
- 17:57verse table to step 1 at 40 hours.
- 18:02Evaluation and 2013, the variance.
- 18:09The difference in Pay was five thousand four hundred twenty six
- 18:13dollars. The most recent pay chart I have
- 18:19in here. Was August 27th of 2022 and that
- 18:26was eight thousand. Three hundred sixty nine.
- 18:28And we know we've had a couple of pay increases since then.
- 18:31Yeah. If I think I looked at it last
- 18:33it was like eight thousand. Five hundred Seventeen dollar
- 18:35difference from the current pay chart between the table to Step
- 18:41One in the table. One.
- 18:42Stuffy. I think, they subjunctive
- 18:46change. It is amazing, what that
- 18:50imagine? What that could do for the
- 18:51table? Two carriers.
- 18:55Yeah, you know, and you looking at in 10 years, that's 3,000
- 19:00hours. Yeah, but they drop.
- 19:04Yeah. And and the separate reality is
- 19:06to expand as you go up and up and pay increases.
- 19:10Yep. And I don't meet me as a table,
- 19:15to I won't. I won't reach that and I won't
- 19:18reach table one, step 12 until what, 15, I think it is.
- 19:22Yeah, so the difference, with the table 14, the first, a b and
- 19:29c, there's ninety six weeks between their step increases.
- 19:33Whereas table, two is 52 weeks straight across the board.
- 19:38Yeah, but it's 48 after that. Yeah. 44:44.
- 19:44Okay, my bad, I was off by four months.
- 19:47Well, it's Ninety Six, ninety six weeks, ninety.
- 19:50Six weeks, 44:44. Then I think it goes down to 32
- 19:56for a few of them. It is not being 12 and a half to
- 20:04keep the 13 years somewhere in there.
- 20:07Where is it? Yes, the table to it with the
- 20:10table to 15 years, Muir. No matter, no matter whether
- 20:15you're there. You know, and it's also think of
- 20:19all the subs. Subs, that have been working for
- 20:2210, 15 17, 20 years, that come on, and they automatically start
- 20:28at Step 1. And I was a paid.
- 20:32Yeah. And I had a, he only was a sub
- 20:37for three and a half years and I took a pay decrease when I
- 20:40became a regular. Yep, this is 20:23.
- 20:47It's only been 10 years since table to was introduced.
- 20:51So you still don't have 880 carriers at 15 sf-15?
- 20:56Yeah, yeah. Nine, possibly. 10 months.
- 21:08Yeah, and you're going to see nothing for those eight and a
- 21:10half years. And that day was funny,
- 21:19unfortunately. Yeah, we gave says, you became a
- 21:24regular lost money. It's like we just had a young
- 21:26lady convert the regular, and she is making less now.
- 21:31And I said, yeah, that's the post office for you.
- 21:34How could that be? Well, I will, I will admit part
- 21:39of that is all my benefits part of.
- 21:43That is my retirement, my in currents, an octopus.
- 21:47When I converted the only option for inference was The NRL CA,
- 21:54right and it was expensive at the time for me.
- 21:58So, I wasn't going to go on the inner LCA insurance and then,
- 22:03when I converted immediately got insurance, I got the retirement
- 22:06dental and all that other stuff. On top of my do nothing.
- 22:10Braden could have gotten as an RCA.
- 22:13Yeah. Unless they change it because I
- 22:16had it. I still have the same plan.
- 22:17I hate when I didn't want to pay the prices.
- 22:23I didn't want to pay their prices so it's probably finally
- 22:26I heard it. Hi.
- 22:28Had that expense had it on. I had my retirement and sharpen
- 22:32stuff added on my dude, went up because RCA's K less than Jews
- 22:38and regular carriers were yep. So a lot of that was just
- 22:43deductions coming out of my paycheck but it also was the
- 22:46fact that I was no longer working 50, 60 hours a week like
- 22:51an RCA I was taking the past and I was working my five days a
- 22:55week, taking my NS days, I'm lucky I was in and off.
- 23:00I'm in an office that I don't have to work my nsa's.
- 23:04But verify their carriers that go straight to it, straight onto
- 23:08the floor and they have to work there in the last days even
- 23:11before everybody. Got every one of them got
- 23:14dropped to an H route so, well, I looked out for, you know, with
- 23:21the pay I didn't lose any pay because I was only working four
- 23:29days a week. Before I went regular.
- 23:33So, Yeah, you don't think about that ended up working out to
- 23:38about the same for we after all the deductions and everything.
- 23:44Yeah. When I became top sub, I was
- 23:46working six days a week. I got lucky, I was running
- 23:48routes all week and I never had to work an Amazon Sunday.
- 23:53But at the same time that's still six days a week is a lot
- 23:58of hours as an RCA. And of course I never got
- 24:01evaluation because of this, I lost money on that but I was
- 24:04still making more than I am as a regular now.
- 24:08Then I'm almost a year. I'm almost here three.
- 24:11And I'm still not making as much as I was a sub time table, too.
- 24:21But that's that's what we what we take when we decided to have
- 24:25this this job opportunity to have these benefits.
- 24:29Yep. Unfortunately at but but with
- 24:34resolutions, we can maybe change that.
- 24:41That's, that's the hope. This one actually is for the
- 24:45current situation kind of worrying.
- 24:48With Ralph going wave poop super.
- 24:50Overburdened, it comes actually from a situation in my own
- 24:55office is why I wrote it in the first place.
- 24:58But it actually is also for the carriers that are old way over
- 25:02Forty-Eight K. So when I wrote it, I wrote it.
- 25:08If you look at a resolution for my wrote it for 20:23 State
- 25:11Convention as a non-binding. Under.
- 25:18Salary. And works to work rules and time
- 25:22standards. I didn't know which one it
- 25:23actually specifically fell under which they will fix in the in
- 25:29the resolutions committee. It's under the national contract
- 25:35because it's part of the contract article, 30 section,
- 25:40one paragraph. J, I wrote out the present
- 25:43language, J carriers rights and Route adjustments.
- 25:46The regular rural carrier assigned to the route.
- 25:49He'll be notified in advance of any route adjustments and
- 25:52afforded the opportunity to submit comments and ratings.
- 25:55The comments will be considered as a factor when such
- 25:58adjustments are under consideration.
- 26:00And before any decision is made, Substantial route adjustments.
- 26:04Must be approved at a level higher than the installation.
- 26:07In if requested in, writing, will be reviewed at the district
- 26:11level. Except for adjustments, to avoid
- 26:13actual work hours and excess of 2080 during the guarantee
- 26:16period. Now I put be it resolved or
- 26:23proposed language. I put the language and through
- 26:27this. I switched out.
- 26:31I added the word primary. So the comments will be
- 26:35considered as a primary factor when such adjustments are under
- 26:39consideration and I included After the guarantee period, I
- 26:48included a rural carrier or a union designee at request of the
- 26:52carrier, must be present for the adjustment, and the carrier must
- 26:56sign off to approve the adjustment before the adjustment
- 26:59will be made any discrepancies. Will result in, adjust in an
- 27:03adjustment meeting between the union District representative
- 27:06and District management, no adjustment will be made prior to
- 27:10resolution. The intent of reason for change
- 27:17many routes have been documented as having an adjustment done.
- 27:21That was arbitrarily made without regard to the carrier or
- 27:24local Management's input. These adjustments have resulted
- 27:28in loss of pay or mileage to karaoke or have not made logical
- 27:33sense. Putting the carrier first in
- 27:36round justments and requiring, a sign-off will help Stave off
- 27:40many issues arising from individuals who aren't Oil in
- 27:43the area or route from making changes to routes without proper
- 27:48input. The reason I put this one
- 27:54forward and the thought process behind it is a route in my
- 27:59office was heavily overburdened to the tune of 12 hours.
- 28:08He has so many new houses, put into the trailer park new boxes,
- 28:15put in the trailer park that his route just exploded.
- 28:20Now we submitted an area of removal with concurrence with
- 28:27local management that would have literally adjusted his route to
- 28:31a 43k. No problem.
- 28:34That was submitted to a District representative editor out of the
- 28:40another post office, he or the postmaster in another office.
- 28:43But he's the district guy for adjusting routes and he turned
- 28:48around cut a completely different section.
- 28:52Off the route, cut more boxes and Miles off the route, then
- 28:58where necessary, it has literally turned the route from
- 29:03AKA route. Out to almost an H Brown and
- 29:07that was before the count. They listed it as a 43k but this
- 29:14carrier, is getting in and getting out and getting done by
- 29:18noon every day with his route. And that's not fair.
- 29:25That carriers could be adjusted for 43k, as proton practice.
- 29:31But we can't prove. He wasn't because they say it's
- 29:33a 43k until is count because we haven't had counsel 2018.
- 29:38But I want to take it out of District hands in so much that
- 29:44they can just arbitrarily take off whatever they want.
- 29:47The other side of it is I did hear of a route that and put on
- 29:52another route and instead of taking apart, that was near, The
- 29:59route. They were putting it on that.
- 30:01Carrier has to drive practically.
- 30:03This guy's entire route. To go do a small section at the
- 30:09end of his route. It doesn't make logical sense.
- 30:14So having carrier and local management input is the best way
- 30:18we can logically and soundly make efficient cuts to routes.
- 30:26but, I like it. you know, it makes sense, I think if and when
- 30:39they fully implement the They all TMD p.m.
- 30:46To be able to start doing that. In theory will should do that
- 30:53automatically. I hope so.
- 30:57But I also look at it this way, as a computer guy, you can take
- 31:01all that information that the Postal Service collects for
- 31:04these routes, they know, every address that gets every letter
- 31:07flat and package, right? They can assign an exact time
- 31:11amount to each box and we already have an exact time
- 31:15amount. Thanks to the mapping of the
- 31:17distance between boxes and things like that.
- 31:20So it wouldn't be too difficult to accurately cut her out with
- 31:25LTM. M&D p.m. but it's a government
- 31:30program. It was made by the cheapest
- 31:33people, they could find. So the fact is if it can even do
- 31:37that would be a surprise to me. But yeah, we talked about that
- 31:44before but yeah, I think that'd be a great idea to be able to
- 31:51have not so carrier input, you know, take it in, you know in
- 32:00consideration. Just as a suggestion, right to
- 32:07actually have them, you know, kind of involved.
- 32:14Damn, your husband are Route 8. They know that route.
- 32:17They drive that route. They kept the furthest part all
- 32:21and gave it to Around that was on the floor, you know, on the
- 32:25opposite side of their route. So now there's second various
- 32:29drive through their territory, her, maybe 100 boxes, and they
- 32:34tried that to get back to their route.
- 32:38Yep. Or like, they was discussing
- 32:41past the one more out, you drive, past a section like three
- 32:47and a half miles to deliver some, come back to that section.
- 32:51Three half miles to move over that small area and driving over
- 32:55three and a half miles back to where the main part of the route
- 32:57is the one route. I was talking about, it's, you
- 33:03know, it's got a trailer park on it, but they literally cut.
- 33:07Up the middle of the route and across the top of the row.
- 33:11One neighborhood, it's like four streets.
- 33:15But it's almost half his route. All those addresses, except the
- 33:19trailer park, I'm not counting the trailer park.
- 33:21Addresses I'm coming as one stop.
- 33:24But if you counted the rest of the boxes on his route that
- 33:26almost half the rest of his boxes right where they wanted,
- 33:30they wanted to only cut a quarter of his boxes off.
- 33:37To it. So that's why we're putting.
- 33:39I'm putting this forward and hopefully, it'll get into the
- 33:41national contract, you know, you know, management won't agree to
- 33:45it, but I can try. I mean, I would follow the lines
- 33:51of the route optimization waiting.
- 33:53The you hear so much about as well, too.
- 33:56Well, I thought you were just saying, yeah, but wanted carry
- 34:03even with the route optimization.
- 34:06That's what I'm looking at. We want more control, we want
- 34:10more control over decisions that affect us.
- 34:18How do you have concern about this is that you know, doing the
- 34:23DPM yell p.m. and, you know, our breadcrumbs, we've been laying
- 34:28for years and everything. if you got to make an adjustment to a
- 34:33route, I want you to drive it. The reason being is that we've
- 34:40had adjustments done in our office, we have one route where
- 34:45the, you know, Regional rural carrier specialist who I won't
- 34:52name, but he's a piece of shit, know it all has a carrier going
- 34:56by the same mailbox three times. He also has a route where you
- 35:02pass 124, Carriage homes, the drive, you know, the rest of the
- 35:07route which is AK 48. Come back to the 124 towards the
- 35:13end of it and then drive, three and a half miles to do.
- 35:17Two and a half streets. And then go back to the office.
- 35:21The only problem is the two-and-a-half streets are
- 35:24crossed by three other routes, but his line of travel, you
- 35:28know, is suspect because you passed 124 Carriage homes.
- 35:34There's another example where they carry you give us up and
- 35:37down one street. And, you know, ends up further
- 35:41away from the post office instead of closer to the post
- 35:43office at the end of a route because she's Dead Heading, you
- 35:47know, for to cul-de-sacs, which he could.
- 35:49Left hand turns into it's not illegal for you to make
- 35:53left-hand turns especially when you have a clean line of sight.
- 35:57So yeah and it's cheaper for the post office but you know if it's
- 36:03a real carrier specialist tells your supervisor who used to be a
- 36:06clerk and never Carry Me on their life that, you know, this
- 36:09is the way it is. They're not going to, you know,
- 36:11go against someone. Yeah.
- 36:12They're afraid to, you know, that they're afraid of losing
- 36:15their jobs forever in the day. And I don't understand how
- 36:20people can live like that. Yeah, it's like when I first got
- 36:26my route, it heavy going down up and down the one, the one street
- 36:31five times. I'm like, that's ridiculous.
- 36:36And I yell, I took to two or three months, hold it down
- 36:43differently. Drove it, you know, Rotel ran
- 36:45the route, a few different ways until I found the most optimal
- 36:51way. Yeah, I lost some my late, you
- 36:54know, maybe order a half, a mile each day.
- 36:59But at least the route was running fluently.
- 37:06I wasn't. Co down turning here come out.
- 37:10Go back up to the end of the road come back down.
- 37:14Go into that section, come back out, go back up to the
- 37:18beginning. It was crazy.
- 37:22You know, whenever we have a route that this, this carrier
- 37:29decided to Route it a specific way.
- 37:33And the way she routed it, made it nearly impossible, impossible
- 37:42for it to be done in an efficient manner.
- 37:45And she starts off at a Middle Street, goes down through the to
- 37:50the lowest Street comes back and does the top Street then goes
- 37:55down and does a little side street off the Lower Side of the
- 38:00route. Then goes back and does the
- 38:02business. Enos has she added like?
- 38:0712 miles to the route. I do in this.
- 38:10Just so that she could help her pay.
- 38:12I'm waiting for the LT M to go. Nope this is an efficient.
- 38:15Do it this way. Movie LT M.
- 38:21Do that though. Well, the optimization part of
- 38:25it. Well, once they actually turn it
- 38:28on supposedly, I don't remember. Our keyword are drinking game
- 38:33word, supposedly. Yeah.
- 38:37North Carolina was going to be a pilot for that, and they went
- 38:43away slide while ago. So they already having enough
- 38:49problems with the Rexall little all by itself.
- 38:52It can't do anything else at this point.
- 38:54Until that's that's all right. Does anybody have any examples
- 39:02of some for the kind of the Constitution's?
- 39:10Yes, I turned around. And I created a resolution.
- 39:20Binding resolution for the national officers.
- 39:26Because a lot of carriers feel if they're out of touch with
- 39:32what it means to be a rural carrier.
- 39:35So, I did a binding resolution for the 2023 State Convention,
- 39:44Based on the national Constitution.
- 39:48Whereas the national officers. Are away from the field.
- 39:59Working tirelessly for the Union at the national office.
- 40:03And the national officers are elected, re-elected on occasion
- 40:09National officers, who are elected for multiple terms of
- 40:12office, must return to their routes one day each year.
- 40:17After their first year in office, to observe how the route
- 40:21is being run, as well as how new procedures and processes agreed
- 40:25to, by the national offices are affecting the carriers.
- 40:30This will include spending the entire day from Start to finish
- 40:35the national officer will coordinate with the district
- 40:38office of the USPS to ensure a vehicle is available on a
- 40:42government assigned vehicle route.
- 40:45If the route is a POV route, it will be at the discretion of the
- 40:48carrier, operating the route as to whether the national officer
- 40:52May Ride Along on the route, with the carrier, this will not
- 40:56affect the carrier's. Hold down status, on the
- 40:59national office of route. Financial Officer, may also
- 41:03choose to spend the observation day with a carrier in an office
- 41:06at another District, at least 100 miles away from the national
- 41:11office. The national officer must
- 41:14contact. The carrier of that route to
- 41:16ensure they are. Welcome intent.
- 41:20Reason for change some carriers, may feel the national officers
- 41:24are not in touch with how routes are being operated on a daily
- 41:27basis. This will not only allow the
- 41:29national officers to observe how routes are being affected but
- 41:32will also give the national officers.
- 41:35A moment to interact with carriers at a local level, this
- 41:39will help provide insight and incentive for National officers
- 41:42to help bring positive change to the carriers who have elected
- 41:45them to national office. Thoughts.
- 41:51I put the rinses out there for a week but I did well to be honest
- 41:58to be honest, I was thinking about putting it out there that
- 42:01they had to visit three or four routes in different offices
- 42:04Across the Nation. But I was what I would have.
- 42:12I was thinking that would probably be voted down on the
- 42:15fact that a lot of carriers wouldn't want the national
- 42:17officer to join them on their route in the National officers
- 42:20would turn around and say, well I tried, I tried three people
- 42:23and they don't want me to ride with them.
- 42:28Kind of thing. So I wanted to make it just once
- 42:30a year go out there. See how it's actually being
- 42:32warped. I know they're doing a lot of
- 42:35work up a national office. Lot of people don't see it.
- 42:39A lot of people don't believe it but sorry not a lot of not a lot
- 42:46of people I've ever been a president of a National
- 42:50Organization either. They don't know what goes into
- 42:57it. So, you know, I agree with you.
- 43:01I purse, you know, personally, I would write it as, you know,
- 43:07three to five times a year, not necessarily their own route or
- 43:14three to five different in different regions.
- 43:19Or one, you know, one time per region, and they have to rotate
- 43:23which reading they go to. So they went to Atlantic this
- 43:26time, they have to go to MIT States.
- 43:29Next time, That's actually really good idea.
- 43:38That, you know, I would different perspective, different
- 43:43carriers in different areas. Well, that's, I mean, that's
- 43:46where. I mean, this goes for all the
- 43:48additional officers, though, but many are in our heroes have
- 43:51their regions. Anyways, you have the four in
- 43:54our. Oh, yes.
- 43:55And obviously, they're going to be going back to, you know, they
- 44:00as a four-year term, they could cover, you know, a different
- 44:05state in their region each year. But I think a lot of this takes
- 44:10out the, in the past, the resolutions of going back a bit,
- 44:14you know, shot down basically because of them that are CA
- 44:18going out of pay status because of that one day, or whatever it
- 44:22is. And I think it is doing it.
- 44:24Like I said, it was an observation.
- 44:25Ation or, you know, an AK or Shadow day.
- 44:30Where is that carrier still? That are CA that is still
- 44:34carrying that route. It's just they're basically
- 44:36doing a ride-along from start to finish.
- 44:39I think it also opens up the communication between the
- 44:42national board. In those of us that are all have
- 44:44our feet on the ground and especially especially RCA's
- 44:50which our next generation of carriers.
- 44:55Wow and everybody on the national board you know the
- 44:58nro's and the national boards themselves, they travel around
- 45:01the country enough to all the different conventions and
- 45:05functions and everything that they could go and spend a day in
- 45:09the different area. Yes.
- 45:11Ahead ahead of their schedule meetings are after schedule.
- 45:13Meetings and yo just visit one office every time they travel.
- 45:18I mean, you know, that, that would be an eye-opening
- 45:22experience. To see how all the different
- 45:24offices work that way and I think it whatever area, they're
- 45:29going to, they need to go to the highest problem offices.
- 45:36Mmm. That's a good.
- 45:39One of those offices offices that you have these carriers on
- 45:44the floor, literally in tears because they're being treated in
- 45:48their office. And we've all heard it
- 45:52throughout the years, you always be at least one, two, three,
- 45:54half dozen of them basically you know, in tears talking about how
- 45:59poorly treated that they are and those offices begging and
- 46:04begging for help. It's a why can't those be the
- 46:08first targeted offices? You know, why can't, why can't
- 46:14we have a dedicated number to call it or national office?
- 46:20To inform them of problem offices.
- 46:24You know, I talk about that one postmaster that I didn't get
- 46:28along with and she hated my guts because I wouldn't take her
- 46:31crap. What if I could call up to
- 46:35national office and say, hey, I was placed in this office
- 46:40temporarily. And the way this postmaster is
- 46:43treating her carriers is something.
- 46:45The national office should look into and maybe getting that Eyes
- 46:50On The Ground. Could be a way to get them to
- 46:53look at fixing our issues that we have, you know, we were
- 46:59talking about other podcasts and I was listening to others and
- 47:06our city carrier are having the same Same problem.
- 47:10They have offices that they have tons of problems with, and tons
- 47:15of problems with management and they're complaining that
- 47:19nobody's listening to him from the national level.
- 47:21Just like, we are, And I don't care whether you are a rural
- 47:25carrier or city carrier or even a contract carrier.
- 47:30You are my brother and sister of the Postal Service fear clerk
- 47:35your brother sister of the Postal Service.
- 47:39We all work together for the same job.
- 47:42And we're all fighting the same fight.
- 47:46Against management. Now, you know, not all managers
- 47:50are bad. I mean, there is a small
- 47:52percentage that are pretty awesome.
- 47:54I have been lucky enough to work under a few want but I've had my
- 47:59share of not-so-great management as well and then, you know, I
- 48:05know you'll hear co-workers complain about management and I
- 48:08can just sit there be like, you know, What we have here is
- 48:12nowhere near as bad as what some have right, you know, it's I
- 48:19really think something like this, you know, not only, I
- 48:23mean, it gets the Union in on the floor of those problem
- 48:26offices, but it also opens up the communication between the
- 48:33office level employees and the national board.
- 48:38He was take gives exposure to the Union in those offices
- 48:43especially in the bad offices where they feel like the Union's
- 48:46forgotten them. In the offices, where they feel
- 48:51like the steward system is not working the way, it should be
- 48:55things like that. Getting those National officers
- 48:59to take a look. This is what I want to do with
- 49:02this resolution. I just want them to take a look
- 49:05because we're if you haven't actually carried mail in a
- 49:10while, you don't know the job we're doing.
- 49:13Now, you weren't here for Amazon.
- 49:18You are here for Rex you worked on it.
- 49:23But you don't know how it works on the street, get out there,
- 49:27get on the street. See how it works.
- 49:29See how much of a problem is for Carrier?
- 49:31See how we can fix it. Learn how the Siena College.
- 49:37Yeah. Yeah.
- 49:46Any scanner. I don't care.
- 49:49I don't care if you can type 70 words a minute or you use one
- 49:52finger to type every letter. You should know how the job you
- 49:59are defending works. In the present. yes, now how it
- 50:09was when you were carrying but in the present its yeah you know
- 50:13if you haven't even seen DPS, But you're trying to tell people
- 50:18that yeah taking GPS to the streets.
- 50:21A good way to save time in the office, your way out of touch.
- 50:26some carriers will tell you is some carriers will tell you, it
- 50:29isn't Again. Well, I am all for casing, but
- 50:39taking it to the street goes to almost, I'm because you're
- 50:44grabbing the towing, the vehicle and yelling. so, You don't, you
- 50:51know, you don't have to worry about being any office sorting
- 50:55through it. Or anything putting it to the
- 51:00right direction, pulling out your errors.
- 51:05Things like that. Where you just try to do that on
- 51:08the priests? Yeah, once you once you have
- 51:12pasted or like, I do you pull down into your GPS, which is
- 51:16basically tasting it, you just throwing Bowie's.
- 51:19Okay. Chuck versus what you're
- 51:22supposed to do. When you take EPS to the street
- 51:25is drive up to the next box, top finger through the mail, find
- 51:31the error, pull them out. Then throw it in the Box drive
- 51:34to the next box. Top, fingers through the mail,
- 51:36put it in the Box. With the throw and go method,
- 51:40you pull up to the Box, you grab the next handful, throw it in
- 51:42and you go. Well, you're still supposed to
- 51:46verify when you at the box but if you've already gone through
- 51:50it, if you've already gone through it or like I do.
- 51:54I just listen. Okay.
- 51:56However, If you taste it and pulled all the errors and you
- 52:02have it, you know, each address separated properly.
- 52:09There's not as much of a need to do so yeah.
- 52:12Exactly. I am going.
- 52:16So regardless, if I can't get some of these files uploaded
- 52:22into the Facebook group, I spent on me unable to upload for the
- 52:27last couple days. I will, so they got my Dropbox
- 52:32back up and running. I will put a folder together and
- 52:36share a link, for the drop box. That will have the resolution.
- 52:42the presentation that I have that was made available to me,
- 52:47put that in there as well as some example resolutions that
- 52:51way if people want to see that and have an idea how the
- 52:55resolution is actually written out and we'll get that in the
- 52:59drop box and I'll put a link up for the Dropbox so they can
- 53:02access that Okay. Anybody else have another
- 53:12resolution. They want to put forward that
- 53:14for an example. Wow.
- 53:20Bill, I know you got some good ones, actually.
- 53:24No, I don't have any for this year.
- 53:30Our meetings next Wednesday and I've been, you know, swap
- 53:34between trying to move son's wedding and all the Grievances
- 53:39from the wrecks that, you know, I haven't put my mind to
- 53:43resolutions at all this year. I and you know, the thing of it
- 53:48is that Earlier, you said about, you know, working together is
- 53:53not a resolution 41 or it. Yeah.
- 53:56Most people don't understand the concept of the Union is for the
- 53:59whole, not for the individual, we protect the individual, but
- 54:03you're part of a collective. And this is why we're so
- 54:08fractured as a union because we have, you know, the retirees at
- 54:12the convention, we have the NSS at the convention, we have
- 54:16everybody, but the regular carriers at the convention, you
- 54:19have all your State office. Sirs there.
- 54:22Yeah. Nobody there is representing the
- 54:25regular carriers, we are. Yeah, we are.
- 54:30Yeah. But yeah, we're the minority.
- 54:33Okay. And yeah, you know, it's easier
- 54:35to stay with status quo then to say, you know what, maybe
- 54:39they're right. Maybe they're maybe we could do
- 54:41things differently. Yeah, we're kind of Partners.
- 54:46We make what 10 people? And that's that's only 10 people
- 54:49in a room of what Thousand. Yeah, aren't you?
- 54:53Yeah, I'm gonna put this out there.
- 54:55Um, I've kind of brought this up to a couple of the co-hosts, but
- 55:00I'm gonna put this challenge out for everybody and I've said it a
- 55:04few times when you only have 20 percent of the membership that
- 55:09votes for anything, whether that's voting for your National
- 55:12delegates or voting for a contract resolution, when only
- 55:1620% is voting, that's, you know, 15 to 20.
- 55:20Thousand people out of 100,000 people.
- 55:27When only 20% is voting and it's the same people that are voting
- 55:31for the same people, you're going to get the same results.
- 55:37I want to kind of put this out there for those that I mean
- 55:41putting yourself out there isn't as a State Delegate for State
- 55:45Convention is fairly easy. I don't know.
- 55:48Of a lot of local units that actually fill all of their
- 55:53delegate positions at the state level.
- 55:58That definitely would be a first step.
- 56:03National delegates. Everybody gets every member gets
- 56:06a ballot to vote for their States national delegates.
- 56:12Take a look at those names. A lot of people that do vote
- 56:16vote by name recognition, I want to kind of post a little
- 56:20challenge. Yes, you're going to have to do
- 56:21some homework. If you go to the NRL, see a
- 56:24website. And you go to the national
- 56:27conventions tab, you can download the proceedings from
- 56:31the past conventions. Take a look at those, you may,
- 56:35if you have to skim through to where we get to the important
- 56:39knit and gritty. I mean that's literally word for
- 56:41word that goes on at the convention floor.
- 56:43For the most part. Unless something is stricken
- 56:46from the record, but we won't get to that right now.
- 56:51Take a look at that and see the people that actually step up to
- 56:54the mic as a delegate. And see if these are the people
- 56:59that you want funding for you. If if what they have to say is
- 57:05something that you agree with that, don't agree with and make,
- 57:08you know, notes of names. And then when you get your
- 57:11delegate ballots, Vote accordingly to how you feel, you
- 57:16see names on there. You don't recognize.
- 57:18I mean, A lot of people are on social media, you know, go in
- 57:23and block their name up on Facebook if you can and see, oh,
- 57:27are they in our CA are they somebody?
- 57:30I mean, there's a lot of people and a lot of groups you can
- 57:33reach out. You can find people that.
- 57:35Hey, do you know who so-and-so is?
- 57:38You know, and vote accordingly. I would like to see more people
- 57:43vote for National delegates. That's how you're going to.
- 57:49Eventually, get a change, is getting new delegates on the
- 57:54floor. Am I correct gonna say that I'm
- 57:59gonna say this more people turnout percentage wise for a
- 58:05vote for governor and president than people do in the NRL CA to
- 58:12vote for their delegates. It's a, it's honestly appalling
- 58:18to think that only 20% of our Union is voting for people to
- 58:27make a choice for you. Well, I would like to see some
- 58:32resolutions about the ever the unpopular, but popular theory of
- 58:39one Member One vote. And I know I've seen a few
- 58:43people mentioned this recently, it can be done.
- 58:47That would take a constitutional change, that would be a binding
- 58:51resolution for a one Member One vote.
- 58:57Nalc, does it apwu done? So, It faced some doubt, their
- 59:01ballots to every member to vote for their national boards.
- 59:06Oh now there's that's a good one.
- 59:10It is very possible you would need.
- 59:14And this is another thing, if you have more people in
- 59:18different states submitting, these store, any type of
- 59:21resolution y'all can put your heads together.
- 59:23I know we all talk. We're all on social media.
- 59:28You know, of getting these together.
- 59:30So if it doesn't pass it, one state, but three states, pass
- 59:33it. Well, now, you have three states
- 59:35submitting, the same resolution and at National or form, or you
- 59:41know what I mean? If you can get, if it doesn't
- 59:45pass one, it's going to pass somewhere else down the road.
- 59:49That's where building up. The momentum comes in is getting
- 59:54the more of those people to have the same thought, process have
- 59:57the same concerns and want to see similar changes.
- 1:00:03Y'all need to start putting it, the effort in being the keyboard
- 1:00:09Warrior is not going to make the change.
- 1:00:13Voting. The right delegation in will
- 1:00:15make a bigger change. Then just playing the keyboard
- 1:00:19Warrior or leaving the Union. Beeping, speaking of keyboard
- 1:00:26Warriors, you can actually go into the groups, each Facebook
- 1:00:30group and actually start the names on your ballot.
- 1:00:34Yep. If they're in that group, it
- 1:00:37will actually pull up conversations comments that
- 1:00:41they've made on post. So pull up post they've made,
- 1:00:44you can actually get an idea of how they think just by how they
- 1:00:48post on social media. Because a lot of them think in
- 1:00:53total media, that people aren't going to fully recognize who
- 1:00:59they are. And they're going to put forth
- 1:01:04who they really are on social media to everybody.
- 1:01:08So you're going to get a better idea of how that person's going
- 1:01:11to vote when they become a national Delegate for you.
- 1:01:15So be mindful of what's out there and what they're saying
- 1:01:19about things and how they say it.
- 1:01:21As it gets closer to National delegate ballots going out,
- 1:01:28which will probably be coming up into May here.
- 1:01:31Or shortly, I will, I will make a post in the Facebook group and
- 1:01:40I will under the comment section, have each state
- 1:01:43represented and those that are putting their names on the
- 1:01:47ballot as a national delegate, you will be open to put your
- 1:01:51comment underneath your state, to put your name on there.
- 1:01:54So you get some sort of recognition, at least within
- 1:01:56that group. I know couple other groups have
- 1:02:00done it in the past and I think it's been done on the world male
- 1:02:04talk forums. That's I mean it's a start of
- 1:02:10getting your name out there, that's the whole thing is
- 1:02:12getting your name out there so people know who you are and know
- 1:02:16where your priorities lie when it comes to what we want to see
- 1:02:18in the future. But yeah, definitely the first
- 1:02:21step of saying any type of change on a national level is
- 1:02:24getting The proper delegates voted in to that convention
- 1:02:28floor. on the other side of that, if you want to step up and
- 1:02:35be a delegate, It's in your eight papers for your state.
- 1:02:41Government Nationals in the National Paper, you get the
- 1:02:45magazines from the from the union.
- 1:02:47Any Union member can run to be a delegate.
- 1:02:50You can you can put yourself fourth, you can have a friend,
- 1:02:54put you forward. Hi there.
- 1:02:57Or if you want to step up and actually be a delegate and you
- 1:03:01are elected a delegate, your state has to pay for you to go.
- 1:03:08To be that delegate every state and how they pay change.
- 1:03:12It is different. So I'm not sure I can tell ya
- 1:03:14how that you would have to talk to your State Association like
- 1:03:19know how that works. But I mean like for me For me, I
- 1:03:25mean, I go to conventions and sometimes my County supports me
- 1:03:28going, they actually pay for me to go as a representative of the
- 1:03:34county. So, that's another option is, if
- 1:03:37you're going to your county meetings, you could possibly be
- 1:03:41picked to go to like for Kristen and me Midstate.
- 1:03:47And be supported by your county. So it's not as big of an expense
- 1:03:50for you know like it takes forever.
- 1:03:53For me is 14 hours away. Kristen is what 16?
- 1:03:57Yeah pretty close. Yeah.
- 1:04:00So my county is actually going to cover that expense on top of
- 1:04:06my hotel room and food and things like that.
- 1:04:10It doesn't cover everything granted because they're going to
- 1:04:14be other expensive. My County does that my state on
- 1:04:20the other hand because I did not get moved up, I was an alternate
- 1:04:24delegate at the last National and I did not get bumped up to
- 1:04:29delegate why we were there. So our state, luckily, the first
- 1:04:3410 alternate delegates from National, if they did not move
- 1:04:38up, our then paid to go to mid states.
- 1:04:41So, I was second in line. So I will get some sort of
- 1:04:46reimbursement at the end when I get back.
- 1:04:49It. I will have to pay anything out
- 1:04:51of pocket up front last year. I was not paid to go to mid
- 1:04:54states, and I went out my own National.
- 1:04:58I was not a paid delegate, I was an alternate.
- 1:05:00My state does not pay alternates.
- 1:05:03I paid for National out of my own pocket, but you can be an
- 1:05:07RCA and be a delegate. You can be an RCA and you can
- 1:05:11run for state board. You can run for local board and
- 1:05:15yes, as an RCA. You can even run for national
- 1:05:17board. Been there, done that.
- 1:05:19That. So it's it's not just regular
- 1:05:23carriers RCA's can be involved just as much.
- 1:05:26I mean you can be on your local board.
- 1:05:29I have done that in the past. You can be on your state board
- 1:05:33and you can potentially run for national board and if they like
- 1:05:39you you who knows what could happen.
- 1:05:41But again it's getting the right delegation into the system and
- 1:05:45on that floor to make any type of change.
- 1:05:54Anything else to add guys. Okay.
- 1:05:58You know in regards to what you were saying about, you know,
- 1:06:00getting paid or reimbursed couple years ago, North Carolina
- 1:06:06for the first, you know, Institute at the state level,
- 1:06:09they pay their state delegates. My local District.
- 1:06:17Also, you know, which is a hundred dollars a day for the
- 1:06:23three days of biscuits at 3:00 and then my district, we've
- 1:06:28elected to put up 5:00 split evenly.
- 1:06:31Amongst all history are all delegates that go to the State
- 1:06:36Convention. So between the two, it covered
- 1:06:43most of the expenses, not all but you know most most of our
- 1:06:49expenses and that something as they, you know, at your local
- 1:06:54meetings, if they are, don't already have something, you can
- 1:06:58bring that to the floor as something to be voted on, you
- 1:07:03know, depending on what your local.
- 1:07:06District budget is and if it's money is an issue when it comes
- 1:07:14to going to these things, especially with hotel rooms and
- 1:07:16whatnot. Rumors people.
- 1:07:19You don't have to room with people from your own State.
- 1:07:22I mean, we inform us last year to from North Carolina, one from
- 1:07:26Florida and myself were Michigan sharing a room splitting, the
- 1:07:28tab. I mean, that's that's out there.
- 1:07:31I mean, I have an extra bed available for my state.
- 1:07:34So if anybody's interested in going still and you want to
- 1:07:38split a cost of a hotel? Let me know.
- 1:07:40I it's just me now. My traveling buddy,
- 1:07:42unfortunately is no longer with the post office so I'm going if
- 1:07:46you want to split a room, I'm Putting it out there.
- 1:07:49You know, I'm sharing a room with my regular for my first
- 1:07:52office for State Convention and possibly for National.
- 1:07:56I haven't you know that was an initial plans but if it comes
- 1:07:59out that more people need, you know, roommates are what not?
- 1:08:02We'll figure it out. It's, you know, get a traveling
- 1:08:06buddy and if you want to go just to go National this year is in
- 1:08:12Grand Rapids. Michigan, if you want to go,
- 1:08:15even if it's only for a couple days.
- 1:08:18You don't have to be, you can register to go as an attendee
- 1:08:22you obviously. At that time, you don't have
- 1:08:26voting rights as a non delegate, and basically your they're
- 1:08:29observing for the most part. But you can register to go as an
- 1:08:33attendee as a non delegate and and just see what goes on and
- 1:08:38the convention floor and see how things are and, you know, take
- 1:08:43mental notes, that is always the option, the same goes for State
- 1:08:47conventions to you Don't have to be a delegate to be there.
- 1:08:50You can be there and see what goes on and, you know, then like
- 1:08:53all right, you know. I don't like how this went.
- 1:08:56Maybe I'll be a delegate next year and submit something and
- 1:09:00try to change it. You know, you don't have to be a
- 1:09:04delegate to submit a resolution, you can submit a resolution at
- 1:09:07your local level and it get passed up the state and if you
- 1:09:11can't make it, it'll still get presented to the floor from the
- 1:09:13resolutions committee. Yep, my day.
- 1:09:17Yes, yes. Yours got paroled.
- 1:09:19That National? Yes.
- 1:09:22And you were right. I was a non delegate at my State
- 1:09:25Convention. I spoke with are now director of
- 1:09:29Labor Relations and asked if she could help me by suspending, the
- 1:09:33rules in new business. So that a non delegate could
- 1:09:37present a resolution. And I actually stood up and
- 1:09:41presented my resolution and they passed it on the floor right
- 1:09:45there. Right.
- 1:09:46After I presented it and it went on to National.
- 1:09:50I didn't go to National. It was so presented.
- 1:09:56Yes, so failed there but I'm too wordy.
- 1:09:59Apparently, I talk too much, there is ways of being evolved
- 1:10:04without being there in person at times as well.
- 1:10:10You are protected under article, 24 of the contract for leaf
- 1:10:16pertaining to Union business. So if you will put in a leaf
- 1:10:21slip and management, wants to say this there, another A copy
- 1:10:26of article 24 with you. Because that's always a fun one.
- 1:10:32And you don't have her, whatever practicable so that is
- 1:10:49outside of the 60 days. Yeah, so you can give them a
- 1:10:55heads up outside of 60 days to find somebody to cover your
- 1:10:59route for you. And they have three days to
- 1:11:03three business days, to get it back to you, close a business
- 1:11:07from the close of business. On the day, you submit it, three
- 1:11:10days later they have to get it back to you approved or denied
- 1:11:15and the denied reason to not just be need to service or
- 1:11:20anything else. It has to be a actual specific
- 1:11:25reason why they're denying it and Union business is the
- 1:11:29exception to the 60 days because a lot of Time.
- 1:11:32You've already paid for a hotel room and things like that, which
- 1:11:35is one of the reasons that you can put in for more than 60 days
- 1:11:38out. Union business is the same
- 1:11:40thing. Yes, but we're going to wrap up
- 1:11:46tonight. Like I said, I'm going to try
- 1:11:47and get files and Facebook doesn't want to let me upload
- 1:11:50them. I will get things organized in a
- 1:11:53Dropbox folder and get that link to put up for everybody.
- 1:11:56So they have a chance to kind of get in there and see and then
- 1:12:00I'll have some examples of passed resolutions whether or
- 1:12:03not they passed or not. They will just I'll go in and
- 1:12:06edit them and set them up in his examples and block out names and
- 1:12:10information and all that good stuff.
- 1:12:12So we're not having to worry about the repercussions of that
- 1:12:15getting put out there. You guys.
- 1:12:17Got anything else you want to end with?
- 1:12:22I'm saying this Union is for everybody.
- 1:12:28Dues paying none. Dues paying if you are a non
- 1:12:32dues-paying member. We want you to participate.
- 1:12:38If you can't, if you just can't in your heart going, the union
- 1:12:42but you want to help the union out and get a resolution.
- 1:12:46Pull forward, find a union person in your office that
- 1:12:50participates offer it to them. I'm sure they'd be more than
- 1:12:55willing to help you put that force in the contract.
- 1:12:59If you have one of those Reach out to somebody.
- 1:13:08Like I said, that's where social media can come in handy, you
- 1:13:12know. I get some people, especially
- 1:13:14some table, 2 hours and there are few table wanders out there,
- 1:13:17that just cannot afford that extra deduction out of their
- 1:13:21paycheck. It's not that they don't want
- 1:13:23to, it's just, they can't afford it.
- 1:13:25Whatever the personal, you know, everybody's personal situations
- 1:13:29are different and I totally get that and I totally respect that.
- 1:13:34But, you know, there are means and ways.
- 1:13:37I mean, if you have an idea, Resolution definitely and you
- 1:13:42are able to do it because you unfortunately can't afford the
- 1:13:47dues. You know, get with somebody
- 1:13:50within your state. That is willing to help you out
- 1:13:53and worst case scenario, if you need to reach out on our
- 1:13:57Facebook group. Definitely Facebook group has
- 1:14:02has a bunch of people that want to participate want to be
- 1:14:05involved. And if you don't have the means
- 1:14:08recount and say, hey I have an idea for a resolution.
- 1:14:12I'm from this state. Is there anybody here from this
- 1:14:15state? That could help me with it?
- 1:14:19And reach out that way. Yeah, definitely the door is
- 1:14:24open. I mean if you're in one of our
- 1:14:26state's you know reach out to one of us as well that door is
- 1:14:31open to everybody. So build you got anything else
- 1:14:34for tonight you know that you go back then and you know James is
- 1:14:38saying about, you know, Union and non-union.
- 1:14:41We're all part of the same crap. You know, my office, you know, I
- 1:14:47share information equally because of the fact that if one
- 1:14:51round gets harm, might not knowing anything.
- 1:14:53And somebody bids on it and they're in the union and the her
- 1:14:56previous scary, wasn't then, you know, it's gonna do scheana.
- 1:15:00Did they get screwed? We have an overburdened.
- 1:15:04Well I'm going to run round at sixty three point four six hours
- 1:15:07but you know we had an overburdened route that had a PT
- 1:15:12F on there and the Quasi hold down situation because we had
- 1:15:17nobody else and now we have another Sub in there and he
- 1:15:22calls out the mail, gets backed up.
- 1:15:24And then, you know, people have to go over and help and clean it
- 1:15:27up. I mean, you know, that's, that's
- 1:15:28part of it. We have a new PTF came in from
- 1:15:31outside and on Saturday. He went into a Ralph Klein and
- 1:15:35everybody who knew that route pitched in to help them, you
- 1:15:38know, get it all done. And he was like, oh my God, this
- 1:15:41office is great. I said, well week, he had to
- 1:15:43deal with management, okay. Only that bad.
- 1:15:47And I says, yeah, but I said, but I'm worse.
- 1:15:50So, yeah, you're okay. He is.
- 1:15:53Yeah. Well, you know, the other
- 1:15:55carriers, that the last office were bad.
- 1:15:57Well, I'm starting to get suspicious because this guy's
- 1:15:59been at five different offices already.
- 1:16:02Oh, wow. you know, now the worst thing is that he goes into a
- 1:16:08route blind and does under evaluation I mean does the
- 1:16:13something stake here or is it just me or does not mistake here
- 1:16:19and it is me Always, definitely you.
- 1:16:23Okay that I wasn't going to say that thank you for timing that
- 1:16:28in lets, you know, get hurt my feelings.
- 1:16:31I don't have any Yeah. It's like a like a my office one
- 1:16:35of my resolutions and I'm putting forward actually came
- 1:16:38from one of our RCA's. That is a non dues-paying
- 1:16:41member. She wants to she wanted to see a
- 1:16:44change and she asked me if we could do something about it.
- 1:16:48And I said I offered and said, hey if you need want to you can
- 1:16:51join you just can't afford to. So I offered to put forth the
- 1:16:56resolution for her. That's what we do, how we do it
- 1:17:02as a union. No.
- 1:17:06Yeah. You're only as strong as your
- 1:17:08weakest link and you know, if you don't help the weakest link,
- 1:17:14You become the weakest link? Yes, the whole Union does.
- 1:17:18Yes. So you know build people up,
- 1:17:23don't tear them down. Support each other.
- 1:17:27Yeah. Josh, you have anything else for
- 1:17:30this evening? Pretty much the same sediments
- 1:17:38of arrest, you guys. I would say, like, always, don't
- 1:17:47let yourself get overwhelmed, take a step back, take a breath,
- 1:17:52step back in like everyone else said, if you have an idea that
- 1:17:58you think my help and you just can't figure it out, reach out
- 1:18:01to someone who is involved, or you think is involved.
- 1:18:07That for is knowledge, at least knowledgeable.
- 1:18:11That could help you put, you know put you know put it into
- 1:18:15words. That would be working resolution
- 1:18:19can be submitted. And that know guys like I said
- 1:18:22we're here for you and I will try and get that information out
- 1:18:27on. Give me a couple days back to
- 1:18:30run into route today. Well today and tomorrow and then
- 1:18:34I go into oh jeay, I status for the next few days.
- 1:18:38So maybe a few days I'm By the first of the week, I will have
- 1:18:43the resolutions up and ready for everybody.
- 1:18:48And that note, everybody have a good night and we'll be back on
- 1:18:51our regular episode on Sunday. I did.
- 1:18:54I mean, I don't
