- 0:19Speaker 1: you doing?
- 0:20Speaker 2: Good.
- 0:20Speaker 1: How are you?
- 0:21Speaker 2: Good.
- 0:21Speaker 1: We haven't done one of these in a while.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Yeah, we missed you.
- 0:23Speaker 1: It's good to have you back in here. The end
- 0:26Speaker 1: of summer, kitten, hootenanny, and hoedown. That's just fun to say.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Yep.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It's sneaking up this Saturday, and we're going to talk
- 0:32Speaker 1: a little more about all of the fun stuff that
- 0:35Speaker 1: is going on there. But first, let's remind people what
- 0:38Speaker 1: Sioux Empire TNR does. So then they'll go, oh, hey,
- 0:40Speaker 1: I want to support this, and I want to come
- 0:41Speaker 1: out and be a part of this. So how long
- 0:43Speaker 1: have you guys been around, and what do you do?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Actually, November is going to be our fourth anniversary. Oh, nice.
- 0:48Speaker 2: And we kind of do all things feline welfare, TNR,
- 0:52Speaker 2: which is Trap, Neuter, Release. We do adoptions and rescue
- 0:57Speaker 2: of cats and kittens. We're also working on doing more
- 1:01Speaker 2: community outreach and education about community, aka feral cats, and
- 1:06Speaker 2: also cat ownership. And that's kind of how events like
- 1:10Speaker 2: this come about because it's kind of a fun way
- 1:12Speaker 2: to get people to know about cats and adopt cats
- 1:15Speaker 2: and just have a good time.
- 1:17Speaker 1: And you guys have a lot of events. I clicked
- 1:19Speaker 1: on your calendar here, and we're almost done with August,
- 1:23Speaker 1: but there's still one, two, three, four events in August.
- 1:25Speaker 1: And then I scroll and scroll like I get scrolling cramped.
- 1:28Speaker 1: There's so much going on. But the one that we're
- 1:30Speaker 1: going to talk about today, it's this Saturday, the 24th
- 1:33Speaker 1: or 29th, rather, of August from 11 to 4. I
- 1:36Speaker 1: had the four in my head from that at Remedy Brewing.
- 1:39Speaker 1: So what is the end of summer kitten hootenanny and hoedown?
- 1:42Speaker 2: What is that? We're kind of just thinking of having
- 1:44Speaker 2: like a fun party type thing. It's the last Saturday
- 1:48Speaker 2: in August. So kind of heading into Labor Day and
- 1:52Speaker 2: the fall. It's basically we're going to have some vendors.
- 1:57Speaker 2: We're going to have some DJ come out and play music.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Some guy.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Some guy.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I don't know who that is.
- 2:02Speaker 2: We're going to have kittens and cats available to meet
- 2:05Speaker 2: for adoption. And also Sioux Falls Area Humane Society will
- 2:08Speaker 2: be there as well with some of their cats and kittens.
- 2:11Speaker 2: So if you're looking for a cat, definitely going to
- 2:13Speaker 2: have a really good selection between the both of us.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:16Speaker 2: And then we're also going to have we're calling it
- 2:18Speaker 2: our Traveling Cat Café. So you can kind of go
- 2:21Speaker 2: in a room, pay a small donation, and hang out
- 2:24Speaker 2: and play with some kittens for five, ten minutes. I
- 2:28Speaker 2: love it. And then, yeah, enjoy, you know, a good
- 2:30Speaker 2: beer on the patio at Remedy or a non-alcoholic drink.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Yeah, they got all kinds of stuff.
- 2:35Speaker 2: And they have really great food.
- 2:36Speaker 1: They do.
- 2:37Speaker 2: So, you know, we're hoping, you know, people just come
- 2:39Speaker 2: out and have a good time and enjoy the last
- 2:42Speaker 2: Saturday in August.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah, cats, kittens, music, fun. It'll be a good time.
- 2:45Speaker 1: 11 a.m. till 4 p.m. Remedy Brewing, downtown Sioux Falls.
- 2:48Speaker 1: And it's free.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Oh, there you go. That's completely free.
- 2:51Speaker 1: That is free. Bring some money, though, so you can
- 2:52Speaker 1: buy some food and drink and, you know, if you
- 2:54Speaker 1: want to buy some stuff. Because you have vendors there
- 2:56Speaker 1: that will have all kinds of cool stuff. Every event
- 2:58Speaker 1: that you guys do, you got the coolest vendors. And
- 3:01Speaker 1: these are people who are absolutely passionate about cats and kittens. And, again,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I think that's just a really neat thing. You got
- 3:07Speaker 1: a great community.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we love our vendors. And we'll also have our
- 3:10Speaker 2: own merchandise table. We sell a lot of items made
- 3:14Speaker 2: by our volunteers that are beautifully made, like handcrafted cat
- 3:18Speaker 2: or small dog beds. cat toys. We have one volunteer
- 3:22Speaker 2: who makes beautiful wood burning bookmarks and art. So yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 2: there's a lot of really great stuff to buy that
- 3:30Speaker 2: also supports the rescue.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It's called The End of Summer Kitten, Hootenanny, and Hoedown.
- 3:36Speaker 1: It's put on by Sioux Empire TNR. You can find
- 3:39Speaker 1: the website siouxempiretnr.org. In addition to this event, when you
- 3:43Speaker 1: go on there, if you click events, like I said,
- 3:45Speaker 1: you'll see there's an adoption meet and greet at PetSmart
- 3:47Speaker 1: at Dolly Farms. That is this Sunday. There's the Trap
- 3:51Speaker 1: the Queens of Spades. I like how you have that spelled.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Coming up on the 31st.
- 3:56Speaker 1: So, again, there's so many things going on. If you
- 3:58Speaker 1: would like to get out and be a part of
- 3:59Speaker 1: these things, you can just reach out right through the website.
- 4:03Speaker 1: You get all the details. SueEmpireTNR.org. And are you looking
- 4:07Speaker 1: for additional, like, volunteers to be a part of things? Oh, yeah.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Because we do so many events, we always need volunteers.
- 4:15Speaker 2: We have a lot of volunteers who are actually allergic
- 4:16Speaker 2: to cats. Oh, yeah. But a lot of it's just
- 4:18Speaker 2: talking to people. There you go. So it's a good
- 4:20Speaker 2: opportunity for that. We need people to help us at PetSmart.
- 4:24Speaker 2: We have people who, like I said, they just make
- 4:25Speaker 2: the items for sale. Nice. But, yeah, if you have
- 4:30Speaker 2: an hour a month or a couple hours, you can
- 4:32Speaker 2: fill out the volunteer application or come by any event
- 4:34Speaker 2: and talk to us. And, of course, we always need–
- 4:38Speaker 2: desperately need foster homes and donors. We always need donors.
- 4:43Speaker 1: So if there's somebody that's going, man, I'd love to help.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I don't have time, but maybe I reach in my
- 4:46Speaker 1: pocket and throw some money your way. Can they do
- 4:48Speaker 1: that right through the website?
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah, they can do it through the website. Or if
- 4:52Speaker 2: they want to mail, like, a check, just email us
- 4:55Speaker 2: at the info at email. And I can give the
- 4:57Speaker 2: address for that. But we also take, you know– Like
- 5:02Speaker 2: items as well as donations. There's a whole wish list
- 5:05Speaker 2: on the site. Oh, yeah. You know, kitten food, cat food.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Stuff that you need. Cat litter.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, you go through an immense amount of
- 5:11Speaker 2: cat litter. Toys. Yeah. Baby wipes. I have two bottle
- 5:17Speaker 2: babies right now, and I can't tell you how many
- 5:19Speaker 2: baby wipes I've used in the last two weeks.
- 5:22Speaker 1: If you would like to see that list, if you'd
- 5:24Speaker 1: like to get information about volunteering, about making donations, all
- 5:27Speaker 1: of that, sueempiretnr.org. And again, if you go to that website,
- 5:33Speaker 1: they got all the details there.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And actually one more donation I just thought of. Supplies
- 5:38Speaker 2: for making the beds and the toys and the crafts.
- 5:41Speaker 2: We're looking for any types of material, yarn, those vinyl
- 5:49Speaker 2: things for the Cricut. And if you go on our
- 5:52Speaker 2: Facebook page, there's actually a whole list. So we're looking
- 5:55Speaker 2: for either the supplies or people who like to knit
- 5:58Speaker 2: or crochet or sew. We can provide them with the
- 6:02Speaker 2: materials and what we're making. Nice. Because, yeah, we have
- 6:05Speaker 2: a really great, dedicated, creative team who makes these really
- 6:08Speaker 2: nice items. And we're specifically looking for the holidays for
- 6:11Speaker 2: people to make non-cat stuff, like scarves and hats and
- 6:16Speaker 2: winter-type things.
- 6:17Speaker 1: That's a good idea. Well, I encourage you to get
- 6:20Speaker 1: out and meet them in person this Saturday. Again, the
- 6:22Speaker 1: end-of-summer Kitten, Hoot, Nanny, and Hoedown, just fun to say,
- 6:25Speaker 1: 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., Remedy Brewing Company. And it's
- 6:29Speaker 1: this Saturday, the 29th of August. All of the details
- 6:32Speaker 1: at suempiretnr.org.
