Transcript
- 0:10Hello there, and welcome to another mental health moment
- 0:13from the Life Live Better podcast.
- 0:15This is a place where we take just a couple of minutes to care
- 0:19for our minds. I'm Paula.
- 0:21And in this episode we're looking into something that so
- 0:24many of us have likely felt at one point or another, and that
- 0:28is burnout. Now, burnout isn't just having a
- 0:31bad week or needing a good night's sleep.
- 0:34It's a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion,
- 0:38and it's caused by prolonged stress.
- 0:41It's often from work, but it can happen in a caregiver position,
- 0:45parenting position, or even when you're just pursuing something
- 0:49that you love. And the signs can creep in
- 0:52pretty quietly. You might feel drained all the
- 0:55time, even after your rest. Tasks that you once enjoyed can
- 1:00feel overwhelming and your patients can start running thin,
- 1:04and your motivation will feel like it's just out of reach.
- 1:08Burnout can also impact your body with symptoms like
- 1:12headaches, trouble sleeping, and even in a a weakened immune
- 1:16system. So if this sounds familiar,
- 1:20here's the important part. Burnout is not a sign that
- 1:24you're weak, it's your mind and body waving a giant red flag
- 1:29saying something needs to change.
- 1:32Small steps can make a big difference.
- 1:36Start by setting boundaries around work and make sure that
- 1:40you get rest. Also, take short breaks during
- 1:44the day to breathe, to move, just to disconnect a little.
- 1:50And also reach out to your friends, to your families, to a
- 1:54counselor. Just reach out to someone for
- 1:57support, to healthy support. And remember, rest is not a
- 2:02reward you earn. It's a necessity that you
- 2:05deserve. We all deserve.
- 2:09So today, I invite you to check in with yourself.
- 2:13Consider where you can give yourself permission to slow down
- 2:15a little and put yourself first. The Life Live Better podcast
- 2:21thanks you for joining us for this mental health moment.
- 2:24And until next time, take care of your mind because it's the
- 2:28only one you've got. And don't forget that knowledge
- 2:32leads to a life lived better.
